How to Deal With the Higher Prices
July 20, 2026
The USA Today the other day did a story about the rising cost of living,
As the report put it, American consumers are hard-pressed to remember a time when inflation wasn’t on their minds.
No wonder. The report says consumer prices have spiked for five straight years, going up by more than 25-percent during that time.
Several American consumers who were interviewed say they are dipping into savings to pay the rent or taking money from retirement accounts to pay for repairs to their vehicles or baking bread at home to help reduce grocery prices.’
And a recent poll also found tha 47 percent of Americans say they’ve downgraded or cancelled plans for summer vacations due to costs.
Of course here in California, with gasoline prices higher than other states, it doesn’t take long for the gas pump to read 80-90 dollars for a fill-up.
Unless you’re one of the super rich, everyone is feeling the impact of all the higher prices for it seems like everything.
It does force you to be wiser about spending and it even can give you a new perspective about the things you thought you need that you discover you don’t really need.
