Texans' Dell Agrees To Revised Contract

Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell has agreed to a revised contract for the 2026 NFL season. The 26-year-old will play under a one-year, $1.7 million deal, which saves the Texans $2 million under the salary cap. Dell is currently on injured reserve as he recovers from a severe knee injury sustained in 2024.

Dell's injury was severe, involving torn ACL, MCL, and LCL ligaments, a dislocated kneecap, and significant meniscus damage. This required multiple surgeries and kept him out for the entire 2025 season. Despite these challenges, Dell participated in a limited capacity during training camp, focusing on individual drills. He is expected to return to action by October 11 against the Tennessee Titans.

The Texans have placed Dell on injured reserve, meaning he will miss the first four games of the season. Head coach DeMeco Ryans emphasized patience in Dell's recovery plan, stating, "Tank Dell is on his own plan." Dell expressed that overcoming the mental challenges of recovery was as significant as the physical ones.

Dell's return is anticipated to provide a boost to the Texans' offense. Over his two active seasons, he has caught 98 passes for 1,376 yards and 10 touchdowns. The Texans currently have five other receivers on their active roster: Nico Collins, Jaylin Noel, Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson, and Jared Wayne.
