Boston Man Damages MBTA Fare Machines With Hammer

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Boston man is under arrest for allegedly causing thousands of dollars in damage to MBTA fare vending machines at the Chinatown station.

Transit Police received a call at approximately 3:18 a.m. of malicious damage to the machines.

They arrived on scene to find several of the machines severely damaged.

Officers reviewed video footage which showed a man intentionally using a hammer to smash and damage the machines.

Police identified the man in the video as Anthony Pennant, 28, and placed him into custody.
