A lot of exciting things going on in the world
is sports because this is the most exciting time of
the year in the sports world. Okay, yes, So there's

(01:21):
so much going on. But before we get going, Jeff,
I got to ask you, man, how you doing. How's
everything going? How was your weekend? Man?

Speaker 4 (01:28):
How things go?

Speaker 3 (01:29):
I think it was? It was great. Hopefully no one
tuned out. You know, we don't want to have people
tune out for the because Brady and Jonas aren't here.
Because we got two pros right here talking about sports.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
It still is two pros.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
That is two pros. Yes, it was great. You know,
the weather was nice here in North Carolina, and you know,
spend a lot of time with the pool, watched a
lot of sports. You know, there's a lot of variety
of sports. No football, I mean it's in the USFL
every now and then, you know, got a basketball and baseball, softball.
It was a good weekend, man, and you know, made
some money last night in the basketball game.

Speaker 4 (01:59):
Nice.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
You know, it's good, a little, good little week. I
glad to be here with you talking sports.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Indeed, that's Jeff Schwartz. I'm LeVar Arrington. This is two
pros and a cup of Joe. I mean, bro, the
NBA Finals took place last night. It looked as though
everything that has been being discussed outmatched, outmanned, just not better.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
Was the deal.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Early on in that game, the Nuggets climbed up to
I think they got to a fifteen point lead, yes,
at one point in time, and they blew it.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
They blew it. They were at home.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
They seemingly were going to cruise to a nice two
to zero set against the Miami Heat. But the grit,
the shooting, I mean, they weren't. They weren't cold in
this game. They struggled to shoot a little bit more
in Game one. This one, they seemed to be able

(02:58):
to find the rim from from downtown. They were shooting confidently.
They looked like they were playing loose. They were playing
the type of basketball that Spoe has become known to
be able to guide his guys. Jeff where Miami just
kind of had this well, I don't give a damn approach.

(03:20):
In fact, here's Jimmy Butler. He had some things to
say about it, and we'll continue the conversation.

Speaker 5 (03:26):
I just think nobody cares on our team. We're not
worried about what anybody thinks. We're so focused in on
what we do well and who we are as a
group that at the end of the day, that's what
we fall back on make or mishots. We're going to
be who we are because we're not worried about anybody else.
It's how it's been all year long, and that's not
gonna change. So that's what I think it is. I

(03:47):
think it's I don't give a damn factor.

Speaker 4 (03:50):
Oh you think about that, Joe, I don't give a
damn factor.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Yeah, I mean, I agree with him. I don't think
they're intimidator or worried or scared about devor. But I
want my favorite teams, LaVar, to have the magic that
the Heat get in some of these games, Like I
want I need my favorite teams to be able to
play like the Heat and not be phased, but also
shoot fifty percent from a three pointer. Like we could

(04:14):
talk about all the things that maybe Denver didn't do right,
or or the way the Heat thought. I thought the
Heat defensively just kind of got in the face of
Denver and challenge them a little bit more. But they
shot nearly fifty percent from three. It was about fifty percent,
So about three minutes left in the game. You're gonna
win most games, LaVar, if you shoot fifty percent from
the three point are and again there's no rhyme or

(04:36):
reason to why that is right. I mean, Caleb Martin,
who was the star of the Eastern Conference Finals, had
three points, right, like the guy that we expected. And
all of a sudden, here's Gay Vincent with twenty three points.
Max Shrews, who I think we all thought would shoot
better he added four to three points after finishing oh
for ten in game one. These these other players, other
guys in the Heat are stepping up game to game,

(04:58):
and you don't know who it's gonna be from time
to time. And they should again, you should fifty percent
from three, no matter home away, you're gonna win a
lot of your games. And it came down to that
they shot better, they made better shots, they got fouled
on how many three pointers in this game?

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Like it was, there were a lot of mistakes. There
were some mistakes that were being made by by Denver
for certain.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
And you know we could say that he called I'm
not even sure it's heat culture, right, they just have
in some of these games. You watch them play and
you're like, yeah, they're clearly not the better team. Doesn't matter. Obviously,
they're playing better than Denver last night and Denver is
to your point, they had a chance to really put
the series away, right, I mean up to you're up
tow to Oh you haven't lost at home, and they
have opportunity to do so. And their defense was bad

(05:38):
in the fourth quarter, which at times it's been bad
this year. And it's just gonna stop the heat. I
think the heat missed only at four or five shots
in the fourth quarter. They couldn't miss, and man credit
to them, they find they could continue to find a
way to uh, to disrupt teams, to force bad turnovers,
to just play kind of that gritty style of ball

(06:01):
that you know, I believe in sports, LeVar, if you
put in the work right and you play with with
with an effort that's unmatched, you know, things go your way.
I don't believe in luck so much. I could believe
if you kind of make your own luck, right like you,
if you do the right things, if you prepare the
right way, if you play the right way, good things
happened to you. Not always true, obviously, but that's what's

(06:22):
happening with he right now. Like they prepare the right way,
they they they make adjustments the right way, and things
sort of happened but I did think their defense. I
think it was very noticeable that they were up in
the face much earlier in the possession, in the face
of of Nuggets players disrupting them. Obviously, Murray didn't have
his best game. A Joker was great, Michael port JUNI

(06:42):
didn't play terribly well. So Nuggets have ways to improve,
but he just keep doing it. LeVar, I don't know how, man,
they keep doing it.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
Well.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
I'll say this, in this game, it looked like the
adjustments that took place Jeff were to say, Okay, it
was don't let Joeker beat us, make everybody else beat us, right,
don't don't let Joker beat us. I think in this
game you saw a scenario play out where it was like,

(07:10):
don't let everybody else beat us.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
Yeah, and that's happened over the years, right, I mean,
I'm a Lakers fan. I remember. I think it was
all the way where they lost that that that that
Detroit series, and it was like we're gonna let Coy was,
They're gonna let shock you whatever he wants, and no
one else, Michael, We'll just make Shuck who's like Shati
get forty whatever. We're not gonna let Kobe get forty.
We're just not gonna let him score. We're gonna put
all the pressure on everyone else. Shock gets his And

(07:36):
we saw last night with what Joy's say, he hit
forty one points. Man, most times he scored forty one points,
they're gonna win. But yeah, Murray had eighteen, didn't play terrible.
It's up to his standard.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
No other players broke twenty. Think about that. No other
players broke twenty and scoring in this game. So it
said to me, you know what, let Joker get his
forty one. We're gonna come out and shoot with that.
I don't give a damn mentality, And we're going to
play defense and we're going to force bad shots. We're
going to force discomfort to everybody. Every even they even

(08:08):
had Joker fighting to get to where he needed to be.
Like a lot of the things that Joker does could
be offensive foules. I mean, let's be clear here, Like
they they let the Joker beat up on dudes at
times during during the course of games. But yes, but
the one thing that I noticed was it was like, Okay,
let's make it hard on these other guys. Aaron Gordon

(08:29):
hit you for twelve he needed to give you a
little more Michael Porter, Mike.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
Porter, like, hell, he didn't play well, like that? What
five points?

Speaker 3 (08:39):
My points? Yeah, you know.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
And the next closest was Murray with with eighteen And
that's a that's a solid contribution. But when you're playing
in in the NBA Finals, you gotta your your stars,
your big dogs gotta come out like they got to
come out. They got to make plays, they got to create,
create opportunity, create opportunities. Caltwell, Pope is still missing from

(09:04):
the playoffs. I would have thought he would have had
a more breakout game yesterday. It's now two games in
a row where he's been relatively quiet and too silent
really in the game and not really have too much
of an impact on the game. And so for me,
I thought it was interesting because the one guy that
really is jumping out at you during the course of

(09:27):
these playoffs is Gabe Vincent. Yeah, his quickness, his ability
to create space, and he's knocking down big shots for
this team. And it's actually it actually made a tremendous
difference in last night's game, his presence on the game. So,
I mean, I think the value proposition here is moving forward.

(09:50):
If your thought process as the Miami Heat is to
neutralize everyone else and whether the Storm would joker. I
wonder is this is this one of those deals where
Miami may have cracked the code on how you're able
to beat a team as physically gifted and as talented

(10:11):
with with a joker on which is the best player
and all of the NBA. If you ask me if
you had that right now? Is that the code? Have
you cracked the code on them for this game?

Speaker 3 (10:23):
You did Levo right, and I want to see the
adjustments that that Denver makes now. But sometimes as simple
as just making your shots, right. I mean you mentioned it,
Kywall Pope six points one for three from from three.
Michael Porter won for six from three with five points. Like,
you get couple more three from those guys and you
win the game, right, Like it's not they're not that
far off from being up too. Oh but the Heat also,
and I respect again, how just different guys every night

(10:48):
sort of become the number one option at times. I mean,
Duncan Robinson's had ten points in what two minutes? Only
ten points you scored, and that ten points got the
Heat the lead. I mean Denford hasn't had any of
those players yet in this series, and that is gonna
it will hold them back. I think they eventually win
the series, but the Heat continue to have those players

(11:10):
step up and other teams don't. And that's a big
reason why the Heat are where they are right now.
And so Denver's gonna need someone, whether it's Porter, whether
it's it's called Well Pope, whether it's Brown like someone
other than Murray or Joker from the three point line
is gonna have to be a difference maker either Game

(11:34):
three or Game four to come back to Denver feeling
good about where you are in the series. I don't
know who that guy's gonna be, LeVar. I imagine it
probably needs to be Colwell Pope or Michael Borer Jr.
But someone else has to be the guy who they say, Okay,
thank you for your twenty points tonight and your four
to three pointers. They need someone, need someone to do that.
That's not their main two guys and they haven't had

(11:54):
that yet.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
Mmm.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
No, right, that's Jeff Schwartz. I'm LeVar Arrington. This is

One of them?

Speaker 1 (16:38):
Is?

Speaker 7 (16:38):
I never I never heard that before. Yeah, Schwartz. Yeah,
I think the h sworts one of them is silent.
I don't know it is what it is. Nonetheless, that's
my man, Jeff Schwartz. All right, and you can listen
live from Fox Sports Radio dot com app or the

Speaker 3 (17:20):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
We got a lot of topics to get to in
the four am seven am hour if you're on the
East coast. But the one we're going to start this
hour off with Jeff is d Hop DeAndre Hopkins.

Speaker 4 (17:32):
He's still out there. He's still a free agent.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
And the question now is being asked and coming up,
is d Hop wanting too much money and that's why
he's still on the free agent market. And if that
is the case, is his pursuit of that larger contract.
Is it possible Where we are currently right now in

(17:56):
the season NFL season.

Speaker 3 (17:59):
All right, So we know that the Chiefs and Bills
had called over to Arizona, you know, seeking a possible trade,
and I think part of that was going to be, hey,
you know what can we get you know what can
we get him to renegotiate four and an understand. Obviously,
teams are always going to want to pay someone less, right,
just the way it always is. But the Chiefs and
Bills are also up against the cap. They don't have

(18:20):
a lot of money. Now, you can create money, obviously
by restructuring contracts and finding a way to make that work,
but that seems unlikely for that to happen. Right. We
saw the chief sign Donovan Smith, the left tackle from
the Bucks, for four million dollar base with someone says,
if DeAndre Hopkins wants that type of contract, the Chiefs
will give it to him. Right, But do we think

(18:43):
he wants that? We don't really know. And part of
it in complicating all this is that that Odell back
I've got fifteen million dollars a year the one year deal, right.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
LeVar, So who would say that he's better than d
hop today?

Speaker 4 (18:57):
I would say that.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
He hasn't played in a year though, right, Right?

Speaker 2 (19:01):
Well, but what has Odell Beckham done? Are you talking
about OBJ or are you talking about the hop.

Speaker 3 (19:06):
I'm talking about Odell got fifteen million dollars career, and.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
Yeah, yeah, we're saying saying.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
Okay, say so. So I'm I agree with DeAndre Hopkins
saying I want fifteen million dollars a year at least
at least the Bills and Chiefs are not going to
pay him that. So the question becomes in I think
he's in year eleven or twelve. He's had a long
career so far, he's been one of the best wide
receivers in the NFL. He has not won a championship.

(19:32):
At what point do you say? And every player kind
of gets to this point at some point in their career.
If you play long enough, is it time for me
to chase a ring? Right? And what's it worth to
me to chase that ring? If I go to Kansas
City or Buffalo or a contending team. Am I okay
with taking less money in exchange for probably more incentives obviously,

(19:53):
but a chance to win a ring? Like what would
the ring do for my legacy for my career? Do
I start chasing that ring? Or do I still want
to be paid as much money as possible. LaVar like,
that's always the part that veterans get to. If they're
play long enough and they're good enough, at some point
in their career you start chasing a ring, right, And
this might be the opportunity for him to do that.
And I'm not advocating for him and take a lot

(20:15):
less money, but you have the opportunity to play for
a contender for lesson you would make on a you know,
a mid tier team or even a lower tier team.
So I'm talking to Houston, like, you want to go
back to Houston, They'll pay you more money. Absolutely, But
I would if I were him in his spot for
the career that he's had, Man, I look long and
hard to contender LeVar and take that less money and

(20:37):
get a high incentive deal, which he probably will reach
a ton of his incentives because he's a good football
player still, But at some point veterans are chasing that ring.

Speaker 5 (20:45):
Man.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
I feel like he's at that point in his career
when that might be something he's looking at.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
It was reported that what he was looking for on
his checklist is that qbs love the game. This was
brought by Cleanman of the NFL dove or dove. However, however,
no one really knows. It's I'm not sure. All right, Well,
so love a quarterback that loves the game, brings everyone

(21:13):
on board with them. A great defense, defense wins championships.
Gotta have a great d line, stable management because well,
he says he's been through four GMS, which is I mean,
that's that's respectable. When I look at this list, there
are a few that jump out at you.

Speaker 4 (21:31):
You you would.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
Say, the Bills, like you said, they're not going to
pay that. You would say, the Eagles, they're definitely not
going to pay that. The Chiefs, they're not going to
pay that. The Ravens they've already paid that. The Chargers,
I don't know that they have the space cap wise
to pay him, but that would be a nice that
would be a nice landing place for him.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
So I wrote an article for Fox Sports last week
talking about my favorite places for him to go, and
put the Chargers in my favorite. Okay, I think that
it makes sense. They have the money to do so,
and it kind of hits some of those boxes that
the Hopkins wants right, not all of them, but close
enough and you'll have a situation where you won't be

(22:15):
doubled as much, right because of the other weapons the
Chargers have, so you might not see the ball as much.
But you're playing with a young quarterback who's got a
monster arm of Justin Herbert. You're playing with a coordinator
and Kellen Moore that wants to spread the ball and
throw the ball. And you're with, you know, kind of
a more stable coaching staff in front office, you know ownership. Obviously,
you know that they're I guess they're stables can be,

(22:36):
but you have the opportunity, I think, to play for
a winner in the Chargers. Well, I find much interesting
about what you just said about what he's looking for. Man,
everyone who plays with Colin Murray seems to flame him
on the way out, like it. And I had said
this offseason that I think Colin Murray is done playing
for the Cardinals and the contract makes it tough to

(22:57):
trade him. And obviously he will at some point be
healthy enough to play this season. But the Cardinals they're
clean the house and they're gonna get that number one pick.
They're trying to obviously and get Kleb Williams, who I've
covered now for an entire year at USC at my
day job covering the Pactal Conference. Dude, he's a great kid.
Man Like, everything that you want in a quarterback is

(23:19):
Caleb Williams. And he went to USC obviously transferred over there.
A lot of expectations, a lot of you know, he's
he's getting the nil money. He's does not affect him
at all, man like super mature, great teammate. He he
is everything I think that that you wanted a quarterback,
and I think Arizona's gonna go that direction in this
off season. But everyone, everyone seems to take shots of

(23:41):
Kyler Murray even even there they're starting right tackle this offseason.
Did who's a respected veteran in beacham Man and hop
takes a shot him on the way out as well.
That's just not that's not good man. When you're when
you're a quarter when someone's questioning how how much you
care about the game and how much you work, I mean,
those are things that you only control yourself as a player,

(24:02):
and it's not it's embarrassing if you if your teammates
can see that you're a franchise quarterback and you don't
put in that work.

Speaker 4 (24:11):
It's not only embarrassing.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
It's pretty to me, it's pretty damning when you have
accomplished players that kind of come out and and allude
to what what they felt with you during their time
with you. That's to me, that's the most damning because
you got a guy. I mean, you know, you played

(24:33):
with with with Deshaun Watson and in Houston, and Deshaun
and and and DeAndre had some some good moments, but
I mean, Deshaun hasn't shown proven to be a world
beater in terms of being able to win, uh and
get to a Super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (24:51):
I mean he has.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
They have come up short, but they have made some
some you know, they had made some strides. But I mean,
I guess if you're looking at it from the perspective
of what has DeAndre Hopkins experience, you know, it's it's
hard to say he doesn't know what he doesn't know.
And if he doesn't know what a great quarterback is,

(25:14):
which maybe Deshaun Watson is, But if he doesn't know
what a great quarterback is, you're you're basically saying, listen,
I don't I haven't experienced having a franchise guy, you know,
at at the league level. And maybe Deshaun Watson is
that guy that he's making the comparison off of. I
don't know, he may be making that comparison off of
another quarterback that's out there, which seemingly is probably what

(25:37):
it is because he's he's not. He didn't mention Cleveland
as one of the destinations he wanted to go by
the way, So I would assume, just based off of
context clues, he's assuming that that having an Aaron Rodgers
or being with a Patrick Mahomes, or with a talent
that is is you know, on the way up in Herbert,
which they do need a receiver that that needs is

(26:00):
definitely there for them to have a receiver. I think
that that. But let me throw this one out at
you before we get to the break. I know we
have a strong receiving Oh listen to me starting to
refer to them as US. I know Washington has a
strong receiving core. I gotta get used to saying us again.

Speaker 8 (26:19):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (26:19):
I know you're back in now You.

Speaker 2 (26:22):
Snyder's only reason why I was out. Snyder's only reason
why I was out.

Speaker 3 (26:26):
There's now ours back everyone. I love it.

Speaker 6 (26:29):
Well.

Speaker 2 (26:29):
As soon as the sale takes place, I'm all in
I'll I'll break out my letterman jacket and everything when
when well, let me let me say this though, I mean,
I would like to know that this ownership group is
solid as well, so I probably need to have several
conversations if worth it. If it's not worth it to
them for us to have a conversation, we would just

(26:49):
keep it kind of the same.

Speaker 3 (26:50):
It would be your leman jacket leading the band FedEx Field.

Speaker 4 (26:54):
You never know man, you song still played?

Speaker 2 (26:57):
There is that like no, you can't you can't play that,
can't play that still it's still that.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
The lyrics to commit.

Speaker 2 (27:04):
I don't know that they play it or have changed
the lyrics. I have not been involved, but I would
assume not. I mean, it's kind of the whole point
of the song is too well say a way that
you say so yeah. But but with that being said,
I wouldn't be I wouldn't be mad if they added
to DeAndre Hopkins to that team. I mean, it would

(27:26):
be an extra added weapon. It would give Sam Howe.
If we're going to say Sam Howe isn't the guy,
we at least give him another option. So now you
got scary Terry, you got McLaurin. You got Johanne Dotson,
you and then you add someone like like a DeAndre
Hopkins with that backfield.

Speaker 4 (27:47):
I mean, that's.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
Pretty formidable for any offensive coordinator to be able to
dial up a play where somebody's going to be open
for your quarterback. So, I mean, that's something to think
about as a possibility. Never know, But that's just me
wishfully thinking because we're going in a different direction with
what we got going on. Speaking of going in a
different direction, we're gonna go to a break, but coming

(28:10):
up next on Two Pros and a Cup of Joe,

You know what, tyrack dot com will help you get
there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection,
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tyraq dot com the
way tire buying should be all right? Uh, Jeff, I

(29:55):
mean Jonas and Brady are out by the way. Jonas
will be back. Uh, but I got my man. If
you've been listening, I got my man Jeff Schwartz with me.
So it still is two pros. Even though Brady is
on break as well. I gotta ask, I gotta ask,
I gotta ask, what was your biggest takeaway from last

(30:17):
night's NBA Final game?

Speaker 3 (30:20):
That if you shoot threes better than the other team,
you're probably gonna win.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
It's a great takeaway, Like you know.

Speaker 3 (30:26):
You know, I I you know, there's plenty of things
the Heat did well, but when you shoot nearly fifty
percent from three, which they did in a three point game,
you could have win the game, right, And we've seen
throughout the playoffs when the Heat shoot about fifty percent
from three, they're gonna win most games. And which is
that That's how most teams are. It's not like a surprise,

(30:47):
but we look at what they've been able to do.
You know, Game one was thirty three percent from three.
You know, it wasn't a very competitive game game, as
I mentioned. You know last night, they shot fifty percent
from three. That helps them out. They shot fifty percent
from three in Game seven against the Celtics in Boston.
They blew them out, right, they won that game. That

(31:10):
is a big part of how they're successful in a
lot of these games as the underdog, they shoot really
really well, and they did again last night. And they're
able to find different role players, which you know, look,
we came in this series. Caleb Martin was supposed to
be the next big superstar in the NBA after what

(31:30):
he did in Eastern Conference Finals. Non existent three points
last night, no existing in Game one, Well, guess what
gave Vincent twenty three points? Duncan Robinson. He came in,
scored ten straight points and got the Heat back into
the lead there in the third quarter. They just have
enough guys that you'll make up the difference in some
of these games where that didn't happen in Game one,

(31:53):
and I thought their defense they pressured Denver a little
bit more, kind of got on their faces a little bit,
picked them up sooner when they crossed half court, and
they just had this voodoo man. They have this magic LeVar.
You can't really explain, I think, because you know, if
you were if you were to do a player draft
in this in this series, right and you were a
draft the top ten players, I mean, how many of

(32:14):
of the Miami Heat players are in the top ten
players in this series?

Speaker 4 (32:18):
Not one, not even one.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
Let's say Bam is probably down top ten of players
in this series.

Speaker 4 (32:27):
In the series, Yah series. Yea, in this series, okay.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
Yeah, I mean you're not getting five. You're not getting
five out of ten, right like you're not and.

Speaker 4 (32:34):
You're not getting fat And.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
The Nuggets are more talented. That matter that the Heat
are making sure that other players are not contributing to
Michael Porter five points, nine point things. I think Pope
had nine in game one, ported and shoot terribly well
in game one and continued in game two. They're doing enough.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
Man.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
You call heat culture. I don't people use. I don't know.
I just call it like heat and voodoo magic. They're
able to just to just get it done in unconventional
ways and it's impressive. I didn't think they wouldn't game two.
I thought it would be closed. I thought they would cover.
But they came back for fifteen points on the road
in a place there.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
That's my problem with the whole thing. I mean, and
not a problem because I don't have a dog in
the fight. But you came out of the gate and
you kind of seemingly picked up right where you left off.
You let it get a little close down to stretch
a game one, but you pulled it out game two.
You come out kind of much of the same you
jump out, you start as certain yourself, and they build

(33:31):
a fifteen point lead. It looked like they were going
to just have a snoozer game, like they were going
to cruise, and then they just kind.

Speaker 4 (33:38):
Of stayed The Heat just stayed close. They just stayed there.

Speaker 2 (33:42):
You know, one name that was a major part of
last night's success was Gabe Vincent, you know, and his
game was was a tremendous contribution to the cause and
the purpose of this Miami Heat team.

Speaker 4 (34:00):
He played very well and.

Speaker 2 (34:02):
The contributions from all of them that was needed to
take place. I mean, you had Jimmy Butler over twenty,
you had Bam over twenty, you had Gabe over twenty,
and so the contributions.

Speaker 4 (34:14):
Were there and they were.

Speaker 2 (34:17):
Well spread out, whereas you did not see that from
the Denver Nuggets. You only had one guy that did
the bulk of the scoring, and that was the Joker
getting over forty. But yet no other player on the
team broke twenty points. You can't do that in an
NBA Final game and expect that you're going to win.
So to me, it made me wonder, did this series

(34:40):
now find itself in a place where Spostra and staff
have said, here's the key to how you beat Denver.
You let Joker have it. You let Joker have what
he's going to do, and you don't let everybody out.
Instead of don't let Joker beat us and make every
everybody else beat us, it's let Joker get his and

(35:04):
don't let everybody else beat us.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
What you to? What say you to that?

Speaker 3 (35:09):
It has been a winning strategy in the past where
you have kind of two superstar players, you choose to
let one get all the wealth and in a game
and you try to limit everyone else. It's a it's
a decent strategy. But but I will say I need
to see the adjustments the Nuggets making Game three, And
I mean, honestly, it's just making your shots. Like, I

(35:32):
don't know, guys are open, they're not hitting the shots
right LaVar Like, it's not like they're not getting good looks,
they're just not making any of them. And I don't
know what the adjustment is on that. I mean, defensively,
there's some work to do on some of the pick
and rolls that he you know that he was able
to take advantage of. But offensively, it's as simple as
just making your shots. Are they're getting open shots or

(35:54):
getting too looks. I think they're doing a decent job
with the zone. If you saw in Game two they
kind of put you know, Joker in the middle of
that zone right, put him at the foul line, let him,
let him work with this excellent passing. It's a matter
of Michael Porter Junior and Calwell Pope making their shots,
making their threes. You know, Murray didn't have the best game,

(36:15):
but you know it was good enough. You know, the
final shot of the game in and out right like
he had opportunity to tie that game. I thought that
was going in it. Look I was going in and didn't.
Game three will tell me a lot. If Game three
is is close, and the Nuggets have had not played
well on the road until they went to Los Angeles
and in the last you know, three months basically, so
if Game three is close but the Nuggets pull it out,

(36:39):
you know, maybe I will give the Heat more more
of a chance to win the whole series. If the
Nuggets blow them out, I think that's the adjustment's been
made and they're ready to go. If the Heat went obviously,
then I got to take them more seriously, I don't
I just had never pictured them keeping this series close.
And I'm gonna have to change my mind if Game
three plays out in a certain way.

Speaker 4 (36:59):
I don't want to change my mind.

Speaker 2 (37:01):
But and I will say this, they shot poorly and
Cattwell Pope still has not joined the party, which gives
me reason to believe that things could. You know, see
it's you know, see the fortunes change for both teams.
Porter Junior did not have the type of games that
you expect from him. They had an off night. I mean,

(37:24):
it just was not a very productive night. I do
not foresee uh Denver staying in that type of range
in terms of what their players are doing scoring output wise.
So I think it's going to be a tough road
to hold for for Miami moving forward. But with that
being said, I thought that last night would be a

(37:46):
tough road for them, and they found the way to
neutralize who they needed to in order to.

Speaker 4 (37:52):
Mate their shots.

Speaker 2 (37:53):
They were much more efficient shooting their shots where they say,
fifty from.

Speaker 3 (37:58):
Threes, Yeah, for a large part of the game.

Speaker 4 (38:02):
Unbelievable, you know.

Speaker 3 (38:04):
But but LeVar, you know this, man, if you don't
put away a team like the Heat, they're gonna think
to have a chance, right, and we can both say, well,
I think the Nuggets got this series. I think that
you other have them. But dude, like, you gotta win
that game. You're fifteen at home, Like, that's how you
end a series, that's how you put it. If you
if you let Miami stay around this series, just like

(38:28):
they have in round one, Round two, and round three,
they're gonna start believing. And of course they believe, of
course they believe that they're gonna win. But you strengthen
that belief if you keep winning, and if you keep winning,
especially in an upset on the they were eight a
half point underdogs, nine one underdogs, down fifteen points, come
back and win. So if you keep them around, same

(38:50):
applies to in the middle of a game, if you
keep a bad team around and you let them hang
out around and they think they're gonna win, give a
chance to win, right, Like Denver's got to come out
in Game three and immediately say, no, no, this is
our series again. We're winning this series, and we're gonna
play like we know we're better and we're gonna show

(39:10):
you on the road that we're the better team. If
they don't do that, if the fourth quarter comes around
and this game is close, man, and Heat end up
pulling this off, or even the Heat lose close, they're
still gonna believe that they're gonna win this series. And
that belief goes a long way, man.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
Yeah, it does, especially for a Heat culture that seems
to be the thing that everybody continues to discuss, right
that I don't give a damn. The Heat culture that
is has you know, basically carried them to this far
in in the season.

Speaker 3 (39:41):
It hasn't. You know. NBA people that are you know,
they're smarter than me. You listen to them talk about
this Heat team and they're like in disbelief that they're here, right,
They're like, we have not seen a team like this
in a long time that is built the way they are,
that continues despite having talent disadvantages, continues to play as
well as they have and again, most of the time

(40:04):
in the end, those teams kind of find a way
to get to the you know, the championship round and
then lose. Right, That's been that way for all over sports,
especially when you have these kind of serious sports, right
the hockey and basketball and baseball. But Game three, if
the Heat keeps this one close if they win the game?

(40:26):
You got seriously, can you look at them as as contenders? There?
I didn't think what was gonna happen. I thought everyone
win five the gentleman's sweep, and I'm not sure sure.

Speaker 2 (40:35):
Man, Well, I guess what we'll find out. That's the
beauty of sports. I'll tell you that. And we also
will find out a little bit more about the Terrence
Crawford Earl Spence fight. Who odds makers have now released
the first initial odds of the mega fight, maybe the

(40:58):
fight of the decade.

Speaker 3 (41:00):
Uh Am I behind on the sports?

Speaker 4 (41:02):
What is boxing?

Speaker 3 (41:04):
Is boxing? I gotta tell you what to pay attention
to this one? I'm not.

Speaker 2 (41:09):
I tell you what super exciting Crawford and Spence is. Well,
if you're into boxing and you're into fight sports, this
one will be will you. What I will do is
since since you feel that way, here's what I do.
I'm gonna bring in our resident expert, Rep. Butler, who
does the pretty left hook on up on Game Presents Network.

(41:31):
I'm gonna bring him in so he can talk on
it because he is an expert on it. And we'll
do that next here on Two Pros and a Cup
of Joe Fox Sports Radio. That's Jeff Schwartz that knows
almost every sport, just not boxing. Uh, and I'm LeVar Arrington.
I love boxing, so I'll probably contribute. So there you
have it. We'll take a quick break. That's right. We

(41:52):
are in the tireac dot com studios and we'll be
right back and speaking a tire rackt Shopping for tires
