Speaker 1 (00:01):
Is the best of two pros and a couple of
Joe with Lamar Areas, Rady Quinn and Jonas Knocks on
Sports Radio. I do have a little bit of good
news for you guys. Yeah, it's a football Friday. Yeah,

(00:23):
Football Friday here on epis where God it is. Yeah. Yeah,
football Friday, touchdown slam football Friday here. Yeah, how bad
a man? And we're gonna have football forever al right,

(00:47):
like all the way through February. So we had a
game last night, the Hall of Fame game, which we
broke down. Now you can go back and check out
the podcast that we opened up the show, a full breakdown,
full break of the entire Hall of Fame game last
night between the Raiders and the Jaguars. A lot of
optimism coming out of Raiders camp after seeing that game.
And if you're a Jacksonville Jaguars fan, well you can't

(01:10):
blame Urban Wire anymore. So so you're gonna have to
find somebody else to blame for another subpar season. But
there's all that that we broke down, so you can
check that out. Um, now I do have uh al right,
so there's fort I just want to ask you as
a question here, what's the question. Here's the question. What
do you got Do you believe that Deshaun Watson? All right,

(01:34):
so this is this is the Yeah, okay, because this
is there's a couple of news items here that we
need to get into. Do you believe that Deshaun Watson
would rather be suspended for twelve games and get a
ten million dollar fine or be suspended for the entire

(01:54):
season with no fine? I agree, I agree. I think
I think the money is very important to him when
all this um and I don't know if it's because
he had to pay out a significant amount with some
of these settlements, but I just wonder if the real
sticking point was the fine through all of this, And

(02:16):
that's why we're at where we're at with when it
comes to Deshaun Watson. That's uh, that's just just my
my two cents on the whole thing. So we wanted
to see your guys. I mean, look, realistically, I think, yeah,
the money for sure plays an issue in all of this, right,
especially with the way they structure the contract, and especially
considering there was a reason why he's in Cleveland. It

(02:36):
was the contract that ultimately lead him there, as opposed
to being a part of you know, other franchises at
the Atlanta Falcons in particular. So obviously the money is
gonna play a role in all of it. The suspension
not quite as much, because you're talking about, you know,
basically what he was gonna be center for six games
out of seventeen. That's roughly one third of his seven

(02:57):
thousand dollars. He's making a base salary this year, right,
so he's he's losing roughly what like, you know, fifty
grand or so, so um, now you're looking at maybe
double that, so maybe only he loses five thousand from that.
That The ten million dollar fine is a ten million
dollar fine. It doesn't matter what his salary is. That's
what he's got to pay. And I think the other
thing that's important about this not that the NFL p

(03:20):
a UH necessarily cares or even Watson cares, but from
the NFL standpoint, they've got to do this, like they've
got to set a precedent here where you've got something
that we've never seen before, and they have to lay
down the hammer and all of that and has has
nothing to do with Calvin Ridley, It has nothing to
do with anything else. It just specifically has to do

(03:41):
with this issue of how we go about determining what
is violating the Player Conduct Policy and also how how
we go about, you know, determining what we view sexual
assault as, where it's not just some physical altercation. It
can be something where you do some egregious, some heinous
things in front of a woman that can be mentally

(04:01):
scarring even though there wasn't any you know, physical activity,
or in some of the cases there may have been
even though it wasn't you know, the type of altercation
that we're accustomed to seeing. I mean, they've got to
be able to, you know, provide some more clarity with
what the punishment is and not have this blanket six
games suspension that applies to other instances. And I think

(04:22):
that's the tough part about reading the conclusion of Suell
Robinson is she basically drew from previous incidents and said, look,
the NFL, you know, hasn't been overly clear about how
this would differentiate from that. So I'm basically giving him
a six games suspension for violating the player Conduct Policy.
So I think the tough part for the appeal is

(04:44):
how does the NFL change this suspension from six to
twelve or even a full year with Looking at what
Suell Robinson's conclusion was like, what additionally are they gonna
take from what she is determined or decided the punishment
should he and how are they gonna double the suspension
or triple it and out a fight on top of it.

(05:05):
That's what I'm gonna be curious to see. I guess.
My whole take on it at this point is DeShawn
as long as he gets an opportunity to play at
some point in time, UM should be happy that he

(05:25):
gets the opportunity to play again at some point in
time and make money doing it. Like, whatever the suspension is,
whatever the punishment is that comes um with this appeal,
I mean to me, looking at his situation, Deshaun Watson

(05:47):
should be happy that he still gets an opportunity to
continue to play, I mean, and and so whatever it
is he's had to pay out and settlement money, whatever
it is that he has to pay and find money,
whatever it is that the NFL asked him to do.
However many games they decide to suspend them, Deshaun Watson

(06:09):
should be really really focused in on more importantly than
playing football, throwing balls, making plays, getting touchdowns, getting paid.
Deshaun Watson really should be thinking about, you know what,
the first thing he should say, and the first thing
he should say is I'm going to take this time
to really work on myself. I'm gonna take this time

(06:31):
to really try to improve myself and become a better
person because I've caused harm and and in people's lives,
and you know, this is this is a time for
me to to really work do some self improving on
on me. And and really that should really be the

(06:54):
conclusion of it, because there could be so many different
scenarios that are discussed, the lead goal lawsuit aspect of it,
the what's next and and all of that, and how
many games it is and how much money it is.
But the bottom line is is that he broke the rules,
and he broke the rules in a way where it's
just kind of there's no way you get out from underneath.

(07:18):
How bizarre this is. Whether you want to say he
did something or he didn't, or what are the details,
it's bizarre. The whole thing is like, it's very very bizarre.
And I just think he put himself in this position
and the best, the best case scenario for him. Really
at this point, is any scenario that leads to him

(07:41):
having the opportunity to actually be able to return and
play the game. If I were him, And I'm not
him because I'm not a weird hel but if I
were him, I would just want this to be over
with over all. Right, find me whatever you want to
find me. I'm still gonna have plenty of money on
the back end. And then you suspend me the twelve games.
If that's what you're seeking, let me make an apology

(08:01):
or at least acknowledge I'm sorry for anybody I offended
and then disappear for a couple of months and come
back and it's over with, dude, Like, just at some
point you gotta move on, you don't You just want
to rid yourself of all this and just try and
focus on your career and get better like that would
be That would be my thought. Well, And the other
thing is is I think a form of treatment like
that was the other thing from Suell Robinson's punishment is

(08:24):
it didn't include that she didn't say anything about him
having to go to any sort of rehabilitation and and
you know, talk with someone to move past this and
improve himself as you touched on LaVar. I mean, I
think that's the other thing in all of this that
it would just surprise me. I was like, okay, just
a six game suspension, like we don't want to maybe
have him talk to someone. I mean because because as

(08:45):
it seems right now, every time the dude opens up
his Instagram account, it seems like he's looking at women
like they should be doing certain things to him, like
he it was, it's like a very predator type, you
know deal, which is just seems sick and crazy, and
so there should be some sort of rehabilitation to that.
And that's where like that wasn't even any part of

(09:05):
the punishment. So I'm sure that on top of the fine,
on top of a bigger suspension will be a part
of how how they end up deciding this. But it's
it's just crazy to me that you know, it's gone
on this long and he's never admit his guilt. I mean,
technically he's he's lied. If you actually look through all
of it, he's he's lied about some of the stuff

(09:26):
where he's you know, claimed his innocence and he wanted
to see this through the go to court to clear
his name. Well, now you've settled, and now you've lied
to a judge, a former federal court judge, and you've
lied to the NFL, which may be one of the
biggest reasons why they end up doubling or tripling the
amount of games that he suspended. But even more than that,
it's it's like, at some point you've got to realize

(09:47):
you've got a problem, and that's where like that whole
rehabilitation process should be like a focal point in all
of this, at least for him personally. All right, So
are you guys ready for a little bit of a
morning match game here on a Friday morning of football,
A good time for that, alright, So here's uh here,
here we go in a little morning match game. All right.

(10:07):
So music, Yeah, of course, fun studio up. This is
southern California, masked up. Everybody's got gloves on, we're all
in has matt suits. We're safe. Everybody is safe here.
You know that you spent some time in so Cow.
You know it works out here, all right. So the
band is in the now, of course. Yeah. Yeah, And

(10:30):
well a we're four or five months away from tuberculosis
making a comeback. So let's just let let's see what
we got going on here. All right. This is a
match game here on a Friday, speaking of Cleveland. All right,
so I figured we're talking about Cleveland and the Brown
speaking of Cleveland. So here's how works, guys. I am
going to give you a sentence. You must fill in
the blank. You get one guess each uh, and you

(10:52):
can determine who goes first. This is Brady versus LaVar
all right. It's a little Ohio verse p A and
this little morning Man game each other. And it's just
a fun little match game, nothing serious here. All right,
here we go. Blank will be held in Cleveland later
on this month. I'll repeat, blank will be held in

(11:18):
Cleveland later on this month. My response, I'm gonna go first.
My response would be, um, these okay, okay, that's very
classy guy, the easy yeah I got definitely got it
so classed through and through by Lavarrington named North Hills Hammer.

(11:42):
I guess I would say a massage therapy convention. Boy.
That's uh. You guys are unbelieve you guys have not
we just like I'm saying the one. No, it's Cleveland
and Cleveland, all right, So let me go ahead, I
do have the answer here, so let me open up
the envelop I mean, one guy says d S, another
guy says, a massage therapy convention. These are broadcast professionals, folks.

(12:07):
This is what you tune in for. So let me
open up the envelope here. The answer is the National
Massage Therapist Convention. Feels so good. I just want to first,
I want to first thank God, Um. I'd like to
thank my mom my dad for just give me the

(12:29):
foresight to be able to see these sorts of things
coming into fruition. I want to thank my team. I
want to think well far showing us Lee, Roberto Eddie,
all the guys who made this possible, Don Martin, Scott Shapiro,
Oh Man. I want to thank everyone, everyone out there,
all the fans, all the people who also talk trash
on social media. I just can't thank you enough for
the motivation. You know, hashtag, you know b FT. How

(12:53):
about the American Massage Therapy Association the a m t
A based out of Illinois. They're going to hold its
annual conference at the Huntington's Convention Center in downtown Cleveland.
It's within sight of the Brown's First Energy stadium, so
it'll be held later on this month. Well, I mean

(13:15):
not technically, I mean not listen, we have judges here.
But congratulations to Brady Quinn. Brady, you want a hand
towel that you can shovel snow with, so congratulations welcoming
handy friends the winter months from the shield. Hand towel
that could work as a appetizer doesn't make the same

(13:39):
noise as a plate pretty much. Don't drop it. It's
gonna shatter everywhere. It's nice when you want to serve
some sushi on it, you know. Oh gosh, oh gosh, unbelievable.

do we have any updates? Trevor Penning been kicked out
of practice for a fourth straight day or was it
only three in a row? Here's all I'll said about that. Like,
I do love the fact he's one of those last
touch guys, like he wants to always kind of like
bother you or agitates you so whistle blows and he's

(14:21):
still gonna get a little shot in on you, but
he holds a lot Like this goes back to like
the Senior Bowl watching a game of his and everyone's
like all excited because he's like tough and he's starting
fights and that's cool at all. But I'm telling you
right now, he's gonna get called for a lot of
holdings this year because the way he plays like it's
just I'll be curious to see how it all works

(14:41):
out if everyone puts up with those antics, if he's
getting called for holdings everything like this is like, yeah,
that the Senior Bowl And that was the conversation with
him right that. He's got a mean stream. There's even
like this video of him where he says, I love
that you can physically assault somebody across from me and
get away with that. Like he just you know, he
loves he loves a physicality. You know. It seems like

(15:03):
a Dan Campbell, anti fragile guy. That's what he seems
like to me. We got a new Uh well, what's
that red as No know what you're saying. No, you
get that, Uh thought better of it. Who's the who's
the edge rusher that he's going to have a problem with?
I mean is he because I know Aaron Donald plays inside,

(15:23):
but if if they meet up, he can but he
can move outside from time to time. But you always
have to look more within your division, right So, um,
I mean you could look at anyone at Tampa. The
edge I got a pretty decent front. Brian Brian Burns
is a problem for a lot of people in Carolina.
He's got a lot of speed off of the edge. Uh,
you look at Atlanta. Probably not an issue there. So

(15:46):
I mean what are you trying to? Yeah, he's got
the doc, has to has to showcase it, you know. Um,
it's hard to be a good pass rusher early. I
mean that's just you know, can they do it? Um?
What about I think he can do it. He's got
a good first step, it's got a good, good technique.

(16:08):
I mean, how about you know there are people waking
up right now listening on the blowtorch AM five seventy
the blowtorch AM five seventy l A Sports. A man
who was who has been on AM five seventy l
A Sports before Anthony Barr. How about that branding member
of the Dallas Cowboys. Huh he's bad man. Yeah, I'll
tell you what they say this about You can say

(16:30):
what you want about Jerry Jones. If there's someone out
there and he thinks they can improve their team, they
they'll go get him, like they'll find a way of
going it at it into the roster for the most part.
But like there's another addition, man, Like you think about
Dan Quinn and what he can do with you know,
some of these edge guys. Uh and and I don't know.
I look at bar and I think he could he
could fit in a spot there with Michael Parsons, given

(16:52):
MICA's utility and Anthony Barr's ability to move around. I
mean what they already have like that, that could be
a good addition to that defense. Was he a free agent?
Was it its health? Like? What why did they release him? Yeah?
Thats release him. That was one of the interesting things too,
because I remember thinking myself when this came up, I
was like, I forgot he was even a free agent altogether,

(17:15):
and like what took him so long? Which some guys
want to be a little more patient with it. But
Jonas is the more residents Minnesota Vikings fan. Yeah you
got you covered. I mean yeah, I mean listen, four
time pro bowler that Anthony Barr, I mean, you just
tell me how you want it. I mean, I can
I get why again was he a free agent? Jonas?
I mean, it's it's a it's a great question, and
I think a lot of it comes down to timing.
A lot of it comes down to situation in the NFL,

(17:37):
and I just think in Minnesota he had run its course.
I mean, he's staring thirty years old straight in the eyes.
He played a few games last year, but you know,
injuries have been a little bit of a problem for
him throughout the you know, the past several years. I mean,
you know, he had his three interceptions last year and
a lot of people would look at that and go, well,
there was some luck involved in those, maybe some deflections
and all that. But I feel like Anthony Barr, maybe

(17:59):
it's it's worth going to look at. It is a
very talented linebacker room, obviously, with you Brill Cox and
Michael Parsons and Layton Vanderish and everybody. But you know,
he's going to know the surroundings. It's Oxnard. It's an
hour or so away from from the campus at u
c l A. So he just hits up on the
one oh one gets to Oxnard. What else they called Oxnard?
Is it called something else? Yeah? I mean it's called

(18:20):
knox Nerd. He's a lot of people called knox Nerd obviously,
you know, with you know my upbringing and all that.
You know, Ventura County to hate over everywhere? Bro, Yeah, man, Midwest,
you name it. You know. Another another piece of information
of note here is that George Etwards is a part
of that that defensive staff as well. You love George,

(18:41):
I love him to death. I think he's I think
that he has should have been considered for larger roles
at this point and his career. Yeah, look him up, um,
but he was. He was part of the architecture of
when that defense was really you know, really clicking in Minnesota.

(19:02):
Would he take over as d C if if Dan
Quinn leaves after this year? You know, I don't know.
I'm trying to think who else is on that staff
that would they would elevate? I mean, he's qualified to
do it. You know what surprised me. I was surprised
me that he only got one year as d C
in Washington, Like I was, I was assuming we need
to get more because then he ended up you know
a linebackers coach in Cleveland after that, and he just

(19:23):
kind of bounced around, you know what I mean, Like,
I was just surprised that it only lasted one year
in Washington. You look at what the defense was ranked
that year. Well, I mean well with the Commandos, Yeah yeah,
well it wasn't called I played for the Washington Ridge
now called the Commander. God, I mean, what are we
doing here? Racist? Oh man, I don't see how what's next?

(19:48):
Is Brady gonna talk about the baseball team? Can I
ask you guys a question, Here's a serious question. If
I were to pull out my check stuff from when
I played Washing differently, is that is that racist of
me to say, here's my check stubs and it says
Washington Ridskins on my check stubs. Actually the name that

(20:14):
they paid through, Like I know, um, like some of
the organizations that will be named something, but they actually
when they pay you, like there, their actual company name
is something else. You know. I got paid by the
Washington Riskins. That's what I said there, Like the Washington Risks.
It's like LLC or something or I don't remember. I
could go pull them because I remember one of the

(20:35):
teams I played for it was like the um it
was like maybe I don't know if it was the
Browns or not, but one of them was like the
football club Like that's how like it was like the
Cleveland Browns Football Club or something like that. I was like,
that's weird, like like you don't like usually like you
see the official name, like this name is not you know,
necessarily like ever mentioned. I'm just saying, that's all my

(20:57):
check stuff. So I was just curious, is that racist?
What's on your check stuffs? Yeah? What's your check stood? Racist?
Come on, man, you're trying to get the show canceled? Racist?
Gosh alright, two pros and a cup of JOm. I lying,
I am I being insensitive for saying that that's all

(21:19):
my my, my, my check stuffs. I mean, I'm just saying,
you guys still have an answer. I mean, that's why
we don't talk about the movie major lea. What was
the question? Is that racist for me to say that
that's all my I personally don't think it is, but
in this uh, this day and age we live in,
I'm sure you can find some more on on Twitter

(21:40):
to say it is. Yeah, alright, you like I I'm
sure if you really want to look, you can find
some absolute moron who thinks it is well. You know what,
if it's wrong, then I need to go re you know,
visit my contract and get all these new checks re
issue to me under commandos. That would be nice because

(22:03):
you know what, those other ones don't count because the
name doesn't exist. So I need to have a Washington
Commander's commando check. I need those check stuffs changed and
um reupt yeah like yeah, interests yeah with interest chips

(22:24):
with my dip, you know. Careful. Be sure to catch

And in case you missed the Hall of Fame game
and that doesn't do it for you, we got some
hard knocks football for you. Guys. We got Dan Campbell
pumping you up. Take a listen. Are we what makes
us what we are and what we're gonna be? I
think it's that right there. It's great. And what does
it mean? In a nutshell? I think it means this,

(23:50):
we'll go a little bit longer, we'll push a little harder,
and we'll think a little deeper and a little sharper.
Means were unbreakable. Like to me, it means we'll play anywhere.
We'll play on grass, we'll play on turf, blanfield, it
doesn't matter. And that's what we gotta be. That's who
we have to be because we'll tread water as long

(24:13):
as it takes Mary you, let's go to work. Man,
oh man, I love the Campbell, But do you see
the T shirt? Dan Campbell's wearing at Lions training camp practice.
It just says anti fragile. I love Dan Campbell? Is
he the definition of a meathead? Is that meathead through

(24:36):
here's the hard part. Well, here's the hard part. We
start categorizing someone who's tough, who wants to help define
what grit is to a generation of people who probably
don't know what like that's the reality is like the
definition of tough it gets lost over time. Like I
think about my dad, I think about you know, past generations,

(24:57):
whether they serve in the military or the jobs they
work to get our economy where it is, working two
jobs at times just to provide, Like that's tough, that's great.
That's all the things that like it gets lost on
kids nowadays. And that's where I just I listen to him.
I go, it's awesome. He's trying to bring that to
the NFL. I just don't know if it's gonna endit

(25:19):
working in the end. I'll be honest. I'll just say this.
He probably lost the room when he said we just
got a tread water until we bury him. I mean
I would have been sitting there like, hey, hey, what
did he mean? Man? Like what tread water. I don't swim.
I'm not a swimmer. I'm not I'm not getting in
the water. I'm not. I don't know about burying somebody

(25:40):
while I'm treading water, I don't, you know, I don't know.
I'm confused. I don't know how. I don't know what
to take away from this. We gotta get some anti
fragile shirts. So that's fantastic. I do want that so
bad great, and it's so great. I mean, is that
not weird? Treading water into a lot of the only
one that doesn't. Yeah, it doesn't make sense. I was

(26:02):
trying to put it together. I mean, maybe like treading
water until we drown them or something. Yes, yeah, that's
what I would have thought, you know, yeah, something that
would have had to do with water, you know, I don't. Yeah,
you know the far you coach when you get up there,
sometimes you get caught up in the moment. You're saying
a lot of things you feel really passionate about, and
you listen back, you go, well, that didn't make any sense,

(26:25):
I guess, I guess. I don't know if I've heard
many of those, those those talks. You know, you get
someone up there, they think they're going on something and
you're like, wait, what he said isn't right. You're like,
just let me keep going. Let let let him keep going.
He's on a roll. He's on a roll. It's kind
of like John Belushi an animal house. You know, you
got a kind of promo sometimes, you know. I guess

(26:45):
he met tray at water. Until we get good enough
to start winning, is what he meant. Yeah, Well, they're
not going to finish last in that division this year.
That's a good thing. That's a good news for them.

Boysober

Boysober

Have you ever wondered what life might be like if you stopped worrying about being wanted, and focused on understanding what you actually want? That was the question Hope Woodard asked herself after a string of situationships inspired her to take a break from sex and dating. She went "boysober," a personal concept that sparked a global movement among women looking to prioritize themselves over men. Taking a bold, unfiltered look into modern love, romance, and self-discovery, Boysober will dive into messy stories about dating, sex, love, friendship, and breaking generational patterns—all with humor, vulnerability, and a fresh perspective.
