Speaker 1 (00:02):
It's the best of two pros and a couple with
Lamar rings, Rady Winn and Jonas Knots on radio.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
All right, what alright, I'm not gonna do what everybody
thinks I'm going to do. Go ahead, y'all are always right,
So I just leave it at that. I don't have
much to say about it. A great game last night, though.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Huh depends on who you were. I mean, you know,
Frank Gore had a good time. I saw Takeyo Spikes
had a good time. You know. There there were Patrick Willis.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Was in the house. He had a good time. I
think guys were getting honored, you know, with their red jacket.
So yeah, it was good. It was a good night.
Speaker 4 (00:54):
Yeah, it's uh, it was a good night if you're
down on the jets as well too, which.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
But you.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Y'all be so definitive sometimes man, I just don't get it.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
I don't know. But I can't stand on my business.
Yeah you can. I mean, I you know, listen, it
doesn't mean you I don't hear Q. It's c there.
We are technical difficulties there. So because I.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Love it when Q is right, because he's always right.
So I love it when he's super right, and this
is one of those moments, at least for one week,
you know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Yeah, I did not. Yeah, y'all.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Super Bowl winning New York Well, yeah, super Bowl winning
New York Jets MVP and world beater Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
All right, I want to be clear here. So I
chose it was I.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Was so what I was saying, what was between the
Jets and the Dolphins to win the AFC East?
Speaker 3 (01:53):
All Right, I went with the Jets because I just said, screw.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
It didn't sound like it on that show. I'm just
kinda It sounded like y'all were both very very very
very very very very high on the New York Jets,
and you still should be. It's only week one. It
was only week one, and that was a very good
team they played.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
And that drive was nice by the Jets. Okay, the
first one, you.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
Know, it was just but I do feel like I
feel like there were bigger problems to come out of
that game. Most notably, they could not stop the running
and it wasn't Christian mccawn and.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
It wasn't McCaffrey, so they don't found another threat out
of the backfield. So now you got a two headed
monster out of the backfield. Generally speaking, if you can,
if you can create a running backs back committee, like
two running backs, three running backs. You think about like
the Giants what they had forty nine Ers teams when
(02:47):
they had Roger Craig and and and Rathman. I mean
you can you can name like Steeler teams, Various Steelers
teams had had running backs back committee.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
If you can get that.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Much production out of multiple backs in your backfield, your
offense can become pretty dynamic. It can become pretty especially
understanding that you have what you have on the outside
with your receivers.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
They were getting gashed inside the tackles.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
It's not supposed to be the strength of this Jets.
This Jets football team is their defense, and their defense
was getting gashed. So I don't know, maybe it's because
it's Week one. Yeah, you know, I'm being dead serious.
I'm going to continue to bang the drum. This is
(03:43):
why I'm not I'm gonna say this, Jonas the biggest
The biggest question that comes out of that game for
me is not that they lost to San Francisco forty
nine Ers. The biggest question that comes out of that
game for me is how are they going to play
and how are they going to react to this loss
against the Tennessee Titans. That's what I want to see
(04:05):
because this is a preseason. Week one has turned into
Veterans preseason game. That's what it is. Week one is
the Veterans four quarter preseason game. And like I said yesterday,
if you've never played at the level that these.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
Young men and old heads.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
Are playing at, you can't even begin to fathom how
mentally and physically grueling and grinding and taxing a four
quarter game is. And you have to get your body
ready to go. So this is there. This is the
NFL's all intensive purposes. This is the NFL's preseason right now.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
Troy Aikman was making the point that it was just
sloppy playing through and through and so when you saw it.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Again, it's purely based upon all your starters getting the
first opportunities to play together. So some of the teams,
like you'll see how okay the forty nine ers seem
to have good continuity, especially on defense, and they were
able to do it up front and run the ball.
(05:18):
That's that's familiarity. They've had a coach for a while
they they have a lot of good things going for them.
So even with them, they're going to get better. Even
the teams that have won, they're going to get better.
Because I am going to bang the drum that this
is Veterans preseason, so.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
I'm not going to get all down on them.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
I'm just not high on them. Listen, Braden, that one
drive was pretty sweet though. I mean it was pretty sweet, man.
I mean, if this is what we've wined a year.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
For, I was like, yeah, it was.
Speaker 5 (05:53):
Like thirteen players or something like that, just your old
school let's just take her time, pick up some third downs, know,
mix a run, mix a pass, and then just have
this beautiful touchdown that uh well, kind of stands alone
by itself.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
And then it was all downhill from there.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
I mean, it isn't downhill supposed to be good. You know,
you keep pushing it up and pushing and pushing it,
it goes downhill.
Speaker 5 (06:15):
You know, the full disclosure. I went downhill yesterday. I
was playing soccer with the girls.
Speaker 6 (06:21):
LeVar.
Speaker 5 (06:21):
I think I might have broke my ankle. I'm not
even one hundred percent sure yet, No, but.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
It sounds like you're being serious. Well, I I I'll
send you a photo.
Speaker 5 (06:30):
But it is h It's one of those deals where
it takes you back to when you played, when you
like had an injury.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
Yeah, I know exactly what that is.
Speaker 5 (06:39):
Well that because like right when I did it, and
obviously my I've got a four year old and I
probably said a word that she has not heard before.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
And uh, I literally looked and I was kind.
Speaker 5 (06:49):
Of laying there for a second and I heard a
pop and She's like, Daddy, what's wrong.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
I was like, just grab the stuff. We gotta go.
We gotta go, we gotta go.
Speaker 5 (06:59):
And and then obviously I have a bunch of stuff
that like I've been through foot injuries, I've been through
ankle injuries. So I'm I'm like rehabbing immediately, Like I've
got a game this week and I have to prepare
for And as I'm doing all of this, what you
do sing, It's gonna hurt so bad the next day.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
How's it feel now? Awful?
Speaker 5 (07:20):
Absolutely awful? It So there's have you heard of the arp?
Is that the thing you put on like the steam
is ship? So so you do an ice bucket, but
you do it with stem with stem yeah, yeah, And
then so that's been helping. I've got all kinds of
like little things too. I'm trying to like figure out
(07:40):
at this point, feel horrible that downfall all right, feels
like very jets a little bit. It was like after
that first drive, I was like, oh, this is gonna
probably hurt worse tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
I told you, man, like that's your thirties telling you
on the last final weeks.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
Hey buddy, look little kiss our ass.
Speaker 5 (08:00):
It was completely my fault. I'm a I'm one hundred
percent of more. On the shoes I was wearing were
not the shoes I should have been wearing for being
outside playing. We were like we're practicing soccer, and so
I was kind of like sliding and go kind of
kick and pass back. We're working on like quick touches anyway,
but it reminded me of the pain that remember when
(08:21):
you you go on a long trip and you get
your butt bean and you get hit a decent amoun.
It's like that first game too, and you've got that
long flight back the next day.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Is the worst feeling about that, Yeah, because the toward
all the next of the gods, it wears off.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, you know, at least you're being
upfront about it, though, and you're letting everybody know immediately
that you had the injury.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
You know, like, who hasn't who hasn't done that? Well,
you know who hasn't done that?
Speaker 4 (08:50):
Jordan Mason of the Niners was saying that he found
out he was going to be playing and started Friday.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Yeah, which, how do you feel about that? I thought
that was a good question. Did y'all think that was
a trick question? When he got asked this because he
looked at the person interview on him and was like, OS, Like,
what day am I supposed to say?
Speaker 4 (09:10):
So, Kyle Shanahan then spoke about McCaffrey being out because
we didn't find out that McCaffrey was out. We knew
he's been dealing with this cafe issue, hasn't He hasn't
really practiced hardly at all throughout training camp, and we
knew he'd been dealing with it, but we didn't find
out until what a couple hours before kickoff that he
was going to be out. And so after Jordan Mason says, yeah,
I knew on Friday, Kyle shannan talked about McCaffrey's status
(09:33):
and then addressed Jordan Mason's comments.
Speaker 7 (09:36):
Just the same stuff that was bothering them all week.
There's a little too much today, game time decision. He
came in just talking to him about it.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
It was still there.
Speaker 7 (09:46):
Thought it was gonna be smart to keep him out,
and glad we did.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
Jordan said after the game he was told on Friday
night and he was going to start.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
When did Christian start feeling gry?
Speaker 7 (09:56):
I never told Jordan was going to start. Told me
he had to be ready a bunch. But I might
have been Bobby or somebody trying to pump him up.
But I knew he was gonna have to play a
lot and told him that he was gonna have to.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
It wasn't going to be like usual.
Speaker 7 (10:08):
He was going to be a number two back that
was splitting a lot of the time.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
But now he didn't know he for sure was doing
that till the day.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
So Jordan Mason then, of course, but you could tell
when he answered, he was like, I don't know what
to say.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
He didn't know what to say. He didn't know what
to say. It's it's not illegal. I mean, here's the thing.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
As far as the injury status of McCaffrey, I mean,
even if they told Mason he was starting, that doesn't
impact McCaffrey in the sense that, you know, if he's
still a game time decision, he's a game time decision.
He might not start, he might play a little amount
to see, so there's no there's no foul play there,
if that's what people were thinking.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Which that's what cow sounded like. He was saying, like
he's going to play a bunch whether he was up
or not. And and everybody knew about what what McCaffrey
was dealing with.
Speaker 5 (10:54):
But Ken, you asked this question, you guys, what you
got When you watch Jordan Mason like that within this offense,
it makes me scratch my head and just go, why
do you pay McCaffrey. Then, I mean, I know how
great Look, he's a great player. I mean he can
do it all. His running ability, his catching ability, like
(11:17):
use as a wide receiver. I get that portion of it.
But you watch that offense. And by the way, this
isn't like you know, we haven't seen other running backs
too step and like Jeff Wilson made his name initially
out in San Francisco being a run effectively, there's other
running backs watched every Yeah, there you go. There's other
(11:38):
running backs that have just kind of fallen in that
system where they weren't really paying guys and they were
really effective, really good. So I look at it, and guy,
I know how Christian McCaffrey can be like a Swiss
army knife with what they have him do. But eventually
you're gonna have to play brock Purty and I just
I mean, that's probably coming up next Year're not gonna
(11:58):
get rid of McAffrey before. But it's like, I don't know,
it seems like there's a there's a lot of money
tied up into them, and if you if we're being
honest with ourselves, like they can get that production running
the football from other backs as well, the way they block,
the way they scheme things up. It again, not taking
anything away from McCaffrey, it just seems like they would
(12:20):
be able to do without having to pay a running
back that much, at least what we've seen throughout Shanahan's
time there in San Francisco.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
I'll say this one talk about money tied up into someone,
I see, we're going to get to that on our rundown.
But this, this this kid opened up everybody's eyes in
one singular game, he'll get another opportunity. I think that
there if there is consistency with what he's able to
(12:51):
do within their running attack, that puts McCaffrey on the clock.
But I think you when you have a talent like
Christian McCaffrey who can do all the things that he
can do, I mean, I don't see I guess you
say you reward him for what it is that he's
(13:11):
bringing to the table, even though sensibly and practically speaking,
having an offense that can produce multiple running backs to
do it. You know, you guys ran off names of
what's going on.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
Now.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
You think about the Mike Shanahan teams, you know, and
and how he was just going from one thousand rusher
to one thousand rusher to one thousand rushier over and
over and over again.
Speaker 5 (13:38):
And here's the dude's name you said one time that
was I never even heard of him?
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Oh Griffin?
Speaker 2 (13:46):
There there was there was land Orlandis Gary Anderson?
Speaker 3 (13:53):
Yeah, I remember who? Did I say? Maybe it was
Alanda Scared.
Speaker 5 (13:57):
You were talking about one of the best running backs
and you brought up a name and I was like, dang,
I don't even remember him.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
I don't know, but he had been in that sistance.
I mean, there's so many of them. What was the one? Ummm,
I'm blanking on his name.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
I did a football camp with him too.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
The point is they have a they've had so much
success with that zone blocking scheme and you saw it being.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
Executed at such a high level.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
And the thing that, again, my question after that game,
enduring the game and watching the game, was not so
much about New York winning that game. I did not
see them being able to win this game. That was
just my take on it. The question became, what will
they do this week against Tennessee. That's gonna tell me
(14:53):
what I need to know. Because now again, as we
mentioned yesterday yesterday on the show, there's now there's now
real game film. Here's their lineups for the most part,
unless there's injuries. But here's what they're going to run.
Here's what they were game planning. This is going to
be literally, okay, we're going to see packages maybe based
off of this, but okay, we're seeing what they're going
(15:15):
to run this season, and as a defense or as
an offense.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
Now you have film to.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
Be like, okay, we're preparing for what we see this
year and also based upon the film we put together
from years pass like last year, unless it's a new
coaching staff and you're still gonna find whatever it is
they did where they did it. The point is I
want to see ken Tennessee because their defense did not
look bad. They made it a game.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
Can their defense they did a lot of touchdowns Tennessee.
Can their defense.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
Shut down the New York offense enough to give their
offense the chance to actually send this team to Owen
t And then now the biggest question to me becomes,
can this New York Jets team bounce back and win
a game that on paper they should win.
Speaker 3 (16:09):
That's the bigger question for me.
Speaker 4 (16:10):
Did you see any of the highlights from to and
Andre Sweat of Tennessee against the Bears on Sunday. He's
gonna be a destroyer, Like he is a monster and.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
He's fast cat seeing ghost out.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
Oh my, he literally ate them up inside And there
were at one point they're just like, oh yeah, there's
nothing you could do about this guy, Like it's just
gonna be a problem him and Simmons on that defensive line.
So I just like, and LaVar, you got to mention
the point, and this was I was thinking it while
I was watching the game.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
Man, Like, my.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
Biggest concern was Rogers gets back healthy. Obviously there's gonna
be some rust, but what do they look like on offense.
I wasn't expecting the defense to look like, yeah, they got.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
That, just absolutely butchered.
Speaker 5 (17:02):
And it would be so the Jets if Roger gets
back healthy, plays really well this season and the defense
lets him down and the defense can't stop the running.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
Which I said this before, Talent will never overcome dysfunction.
It finds a way like, wait, I didn't know my
elbow was hurting. It wasn't hurting. Then why is it
hurting now? I don't know, but it is. That's like dysfunction.
Who the Jets. That's why, some way, somehow is going
(17:34):
to go wrong until they show that. It's not until
you show that there's a cultural shift from what it
has been, it's it's going to be what it is.
And I'm not saying that's what it is. I'm just
saying if we don't see this team live up to
the expectation of what their roster says, I think that
we clearly can look at what they've been culturally and
(17:59):
understand that this is probably why they're where they're at.
Speaker 1 (18:03):

We've all used different tools.

Speaker 4 (18:53):
All right, so it is time here we go for
the debut edition buckle up of a little something called this.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
Who needs the ap Top twenty five?
Speaker 3 (19:04):
I'm just seeing things that I never thought exist.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
When you've got the top fifteen.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
Here we go.
Speaker 5 (19:13):
So some people will wonder why isn't it a top
twenty five, Because I'm gonna be honest with you, there's
probably about ten teams after the top fifteen that I
don't feel really confident in making it into the playoff.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
And why is it not a top ten?
Speaker 5 (19:26):
Because we've got a twelve team expanded playoffs, so we
land on fifteen. I give you the twelve that I
think are the best in college football right now.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
With a little three extras, you know, three teams.
Speaker 5 (19:36):
I think it slides somewhere into that conversation when it's
all said and done. So I will compare and contrast
with the Apeople, and I'll start off right away with
the number one team in the country. I've got a
different than the ap They've got Georgia. I've got Texas.
Texas has earned it. They go into Michigan and arbor
a commanding win against a top ten opponent, at least
at the time, and that to me is the best
(19:57):
win of the season for one of these teams, as
can to Georgia at the moment, who climbs in I
think is a shell of itself, as is Michigan. But
I still think at the end of the day, it's
a better win. So I'm giving Texas the slight edge
over the Georgia Bulldogs.
Speaker 3 (20:10):
We're at number two.
Speaker 5 (20:12):
Ohio State really yet to be challenged so far, but
dominant so far in that fashion. I did contemplate, though,
putting Tennessee at number three as opposed to number four
in this poll, in part because they just.
Speaker 3 (20:25):
Blew out n C State. NC States not that bad
of a football team.
Speaker 5 (20:28):
I think they will be a top twenty five team
when it's all said and done at the end of
the season, although bounced after the trouncing that Tennessee gave
them this past week. But nico Ia Meleava, he is
a phenom.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
He is a stud.
Speaker 5 (20:42):
If you can right now, I would go look at
placing some bets on him to win the Heisman. He's
gonna put up a lot of stats within that offense.
He's going to be a first round pick in the future.
But he so far now is leading this team and
they are They are loaded littered with talent around ole Miss.
At number five, Jackson Dart's been bawling out, although again
(21:03):
a team that heroly hasn't been tested by anyone. I
got Alabama at seven and look, I've been watching a
lot of the tape in preparation for this week's matchup
versus Wisconsin, and I got to be honest, that offense
is a work in progress. The defense, you can see
some of the holes and some of the lack of
experience on the back end. That was a concern coming
into the season. It's still a concern. I've got them
at seven. You would see at eight the defense is
(21:26):
much improved. Miller Moss operating at a high level within
this offense and throwing to a lot of playmakers on
the outside. So credit Lincoln Riley for the changes you
made in the offseason. It's showing out and proving to
be effective so far. Penn State at number nine. They've
kind of held court at this point, but again struggled
a bit versus Bowling Green State. So sorry, LeVar, I
think the AP has them actually at number eight. I've
(21:47):
got them back one more spot. I've got Oregon at ten.
They've struggled, but they've played somewhat of a difficult schedule,
obviously being able to pull away from.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
Boise State this past week. But I think they're best.
Football is still ahead of them.
Speaker 5 (21:59):
But I've got them number ten as opposed to nine
in the eight People. Missouri probably the biggest difference in
my top fifteen versus the AP. The AP has them
at six. I've got them at eleven. At this point,
I think they're a good football team and they've got
a lot of talent, best wide receiver in the country. Unfortunately,
I just I don't know that they've necessarily played the
most difficult schedule, so I want to see more from
(22:20):
them as they go through a gauntlet. And then we
got started getting into the Big twelve. I've got Utah
at twelve, very similar to AP exact same in fact,
Oklahoma State at thirteen, another team that I think is
playings in good football, finding ways to win, and then
Kansas State. All those Big twelve teams kind of muddled
in there together. And then probably the big one of
the other bigger differences is at number fifteen, I've got
(22:42):
a team that's eight spots higher than the A People,
and that's Nebraska. I'm a believer in what Matt Rules
building there. I'm a believer in their defense. I'm a
believer in their offense and the big playability with Dylan
Ryola as he continues to grow and mature. I think
the second half football will be much better in the
first half for a true freshman's.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
Coming in there a start.
Speaker 5 (23:03):
But this is a team that's on the rise, and
after beating Colorado, they've still got some tough matchups Illinois
coming up, but just knocked off Kansas this past week
as the top twenty team. But they could be seven
and oh going into Columbus in October. And I'll say
this twice. Now, you are not ready. You've college football
(23:28):
fans are not ready for Nebraska to be back.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
Okay, I don't.
Speaker 5 (23:33):
Think anyone can handle what Big Red is going to
be if Nebraska comes back.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
LeVar, tell me I'm wrong.
Speaker 5 (23:42):
I know you played around that era kind of when
Nebraska was that in college.
Speaker 3 (23:47):
Was a better place when Nebraska was good. That might
be one way of putting it. But there's also that Juggernaut.
Speaker 5 (23:53):
There's the black Shirts, there's all the history, all of
the mystique and everything else. They're honoring the nineteen ninety
four national championship team, and some of the clips that
come out give me chills, man, because I remember that
from my childhood. Jonas, I know you watched a little bit,
probably as I don't care who was Tommy Fraser, Eric
krap Coy Schleschinger, Phillips oh Man.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
That was a bad, bad, you know team an era
during that time.
Speaker 4 (24:20):
I still remember Nebraska Miami and the Orange Bowl.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
I'm such offensive line though.
Speaker 4 (24:26):
So it was January first, the Bears beat the Vikings
in a wild card game.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
Steve Walsh was the starting.
Speaker 4 (24:34):
Quarterback during the day, and at night Miami played Nebraska,
and Nebraska ran through them.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
They could not stop. Miami could not get a stop.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
Zach Wieger went into the Hall of Fame together. It's dope,
dude Brandon style on that line. Their offensive line that
year was ridiculous.
Speaker 5 (24:55):
I'm telling you all, you guys aren't ready. College football
is not ready. The country isn't ready for the way
Big Red travels like that fan base. They're building a
sleeping giant there and it has a lot.
Speaker 3 (25:08):
To do with the quarterback Dylan Ryola. But also credit
to Matt Ruhle.
Speaker 5 (25:12):
How he's built that team that hasn't been about flash.
It's been about all the right right things. We saw
him do it a Temple, we saw him do it
at Baylor. Here we are once again. He's building a
Nebraska to me to be a contender.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
Nice, it looks just like Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
Ok.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
Can we talk about that literally? Like doppel ganger? All right,
enough's enough. Like he did it. I did his hair
that way. He does everything like him.
Speaker 5 (25:40):
He works with his quarterback coach. Well there, he works
with Jeff Christians. So even the throwing motion in the seat,
he looked just like. And by the way, if you're
going to model yourself after one.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
Play, why not? Why not? And you have it look
like him.
Speaker 5 (25:52):
When I was coming through high school and Tom Brady
was making his run doing and Patriots, every everyone wanted
to be Tom Brady.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
You look better than Tom. I love Tom, but you
look better than Tom. A great point.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
Let's keep it on that. Yeah, now what would you say?
Speaker 4 (26:05):
Yeah, I would say a great point, Brady. Your thoughts
on doing better looking than Tom Brady?
Speaker 3 (26:10):
Thought?
Speaker 5 (26:10):
I thought we had Marcus Freeman and Steve see that
on the on the right.
Speaker 3 (26:15):
Let's talk about it. They didn't malfunction awkward? All right?
So yeah, we do have some.
Speaker 2 (26:21):
Marketing in a manly way. Of course, you know what
I mean. I can admit, like me, I'm an ugly
It's all right, but I'm sexy.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
We're still doing this. I'm sexy, though, But go ahead,
great point.
Speaker 5 (26:31):
I mean what I would rather talk about the cops
and Tyreek Hill and everything.
Speaker 4 (26:35):
Hang, okay, well we do have some Marcus Freeman sound,
but I want to make sure we've got enough time
to react to it. The tyreek Hill video though, I mean, look, cop,
you know, probably a little bit too aggressive. Tyreek Hill
probably could have cooperated a little bit more, and you know,
what was he doing? One ten and a fifty five
and not great? So but of course this has turned
(26:58):
into the new raging debate.
Speaker 5 (27:00):
Yeah, but but it doesn't. It's not just about tyreek Kill.
It's about Clais Campbell, Jess. That's there's another There's other
players too who weren't doing anything wrong and they're just
trying to help out their team. I mean those look,
as we said yesterday, I'm all for our first responders,
are our police officers, state everyone, everyone who serves and
(27:21):
fulfills that civic duty. But you have to admit to
there's times when it's completely unnecessary. This is one of
those times, and I know tyreek Hill maybe might have
been as cooperative as he should have been. I understand that,
but you're right outside of a stadium, you know who
it is like chill, like give them the ticket, let
him go.
Speaker 3 (27:41):
You know, it's like.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
Why why take them to jail? Whichever one that is
going to be, you do what you want to do
that way.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
That's advocating. I'm not advocating for that.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
I'm not avocating for it, but I'm just saying, if
you're going to use that type of force, then then
you're saying you must be thinking to yourself that he
is a threat to you if you're the only way
you can justify that amount of force is if you
felt like there was a threat, so which which is.
Speaker 5 (28:06):
Why I'm saying the guy was being overzealous. There who
is no threat in any way shape a storm.
Speaker 3 (28:11):
That's a problem.
Speaker 5 (28:12):
And here's the hard thing is they've already issued a
statement that after the officer has been taken off of
active active duty. And the hard thing is is the
statement of the issue is saying how well Tyreek Hill
was non complying.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
He wouldn't sit down.
Speaker 5 (28:24):
It's like I watched the video, it didn't seem like
there was much of an opportunity once they got him
out of the car for him to ask him anything
or to sit him down or anything. It seems like
they tried to use force to put him on the ground.
Like I don't need to watch the video again to
be told whatever their statement says. And I watched the
video of Kalais Campbell walking up trying to it. He
immediately started to back up because that cop started fighting him.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
He ran up on him too. He ran up on
on uh Tarik Hill and he ran up on Kalais.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
It's almost like he wanted in weight room juicing type
dudes and wanted to test it, like a here's my chance,
Like I'm this is my house right here, this is
this is my time. Like that's the way he took him,
put Tarik down on the ground. It was like, you
want to show it himself. He wanted to prove something
to himself. That's what it seemed like to me. And
(29:13):
he ran up on It's like to me, if you're
going to be that aggressive in what you're doing, you
shouldn't be out there.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
That's one.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
But if if it's for some reason, because I know
I'm hearing contrarians out there. I know I heard whitlocks
take I heard I heard got leaps take I heard
you can only imagine what witlocks.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
You can only imagine you try and pull out of
that question. What you pull out of that question? Don't
try to cover up?
Speaker 2 (29:45):
How about don't you cover shield I'm not putting on
any shields. I'm not pulling out anything. All I'm saying
is is if, as a police officer, if you feel
that he was doing excessive of speeding, which by the way,
automatically constitute that your car get towed and you get
(30:07):
taken in that that's first and foremost. If you felt
like that was the case, then just take him in.
Just if that was what your your where your mind
was at as law enforcement in that moment, take them in.
But to do all of the things that he did
in that moment, that to me is where it went
horribly wrong, and that's where the ultimately the judgments are
(30:31):
coming from.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
And all the other noise of it all.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
I just like tend to try to keep things like
right right down the center for me center lane and
situations like these because of so many people I love
and care about that are in law enforcement, that are
first responders and understanding the pressures and the things that
they go through when they're doing their job.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
To me, if you're.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
Doing your job and you're and you're leveling up and
you felt as though I clocked this man at oh
for one hundred miles per hour in a what zone
like probably like a fit. Okay, then you're taking the jail.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
You go.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
You do everything by the book, You do everything by
the protocol of what you do when that would happen
any other time?
Speaker 5 (31:16):
Can can I ask for Jonas's synopsis of this entire
thing in ten secondsasause this could be a new segment.
We just we let you summarize all of this in
ten seconds.
Speaker 4 (31:26):
I mean it's really easy, Like we're focusing on the
wrong guy here. Oh, I mean the real arrest should
have been made to Travis atn who fumbled in the
end zone.
Speaker 3 (31:36):
Me and well done, game, that's well done, and he
really did.
Speaker 4 (31:42):
He scores, he scores, that game's over and he fumbles
into the end zone and then next next play they
throw the jack. Yeah so what And like anybody out
there that's got him on their fantasy team, you're looking
at this game going, oh that that's like a I
need those points. And then he fumbles and that's that
situation literally went from bad to worst. So he's about
(32:03):
to score fumbles into the end zone. Miami gets the
ball back on a touchback, and the next play.
Speaker 3 (32:09):
Is the adr touchdown of Tyreek Hill. Completely times a game.
Damn Jaguars man. Wow. So there it is. There's your synopsis. Talk.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Arrington and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific.
Speaker 4 (32:29):
Right now, Pete Prisco is in CBS Sports, CBS Sports
HQ Analyst, NFL Guru, Pete.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
What's happening? How we feeling?
Speaker 6 (32:40):
So, Pete, you know, it's amazing that LeVar and Brady
decided to show up today.
Speaker 3 (32:46):
Why is that?
Speaker 6 (32:48):
I don't know. Why were you?
Speaker 2 (32:50):
That's when the that's when the internet crashed. O. Okay,
all right, we had some technical issues and Pete, Pete
took some liberties to kind of just, you know, spout off,
say whatever you want. Say, Pete, how are your pickstoring
given that I whooped you the past two years, Well, you.
Speaker 6 (33:04):
Haven't whip me, beat me by a half a game.
Speaker 3 (33:06):
Last year?
Speaker 5 (33:07):
Ste had we had to give you all these prop
bets and special exceptions in the playoffs because you got
trounced in the regular Yeah, no one will remember.
Speaker 6 (33:16):
Anyway, he beat He beat me, but barely, And I'll
give the credit where credit is. Do he beat me?
But so far this week I was eight six and
two against the spread.
Speaker 3 (33:26):
Pete's good for you. Pet's good for you? Pete?
Speaker 4 (33:28):
Can I ask you because this is one of my
favorite things to do that Brady has pointed out that
you like to do. So this is why I feel
like you and I are thinking along the same lines here.
Which game did you get wrong? But we're still on
the right side of afterwards?
Speaker 3 (33:46):
Yes, this is great?
Speaker 6 (33:47):
Which one did I get? Brady? Brady? Brady hates that
because it's the stupidest thing.
Speaker 3 (33:53):
Pete. I'm with you. I do the same thing. Come on,
let's hear it.
Speaker 6 (33:56):
I'm trying to think of one of the games that
I got well, I mean, I did get Jackson the Bengals,
I was no, the Bengals was a mess. Nobody got that.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
One right, that was I know. But were you on
the right side of that one? It just whatever happened there,
you got it wrong?
Speaker 6 (34:10):
No, I was on the wrong side, and that was disgusting.
That was no. Which one was I on the right side? God,
that's a good question. I'm trying to think off the
top of my head.
Speaker 3 (34:19):
You know what Steelers were You on the right side
of the Steelers way?
Speaker 6 (34:22):
Oh? It irritates them so much. When I used to
do that, it would be like, oh, I'm gonna be
on the right side, but you didn't get it right? Well,
it was right side something fluky apps.
Speaker 3 (34:31):
That's why.
Speaker 5 (34:32):
Yeah, it's always food gayzy, it's fluky. Whatever with you,
Pete Peter don't want to transition to New York Giants.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
We were caught up about this.
Speaker 5 (34:39):
But I'm either already fielding questions about Daniel Jones getting
benched for one weekend of the season.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
How bad is this going to get in New York.
Speaker 6 (34:48):
It's gonna get bad. It's gonna get bad for the
front office. Is going to get bad for Brian Dabele.
I mean, and then you have a former New York
Giant defensive coordinator that's kind of sitting out there without
his job. You know Bill Belichick, and you know that,
you know the Marrack family. They love to go back
to their roots and go back to people hill have
links to their organization. So I think I think it's
bad for Brian Daviel. Daniel Jones was awful the other day.
(35:11):
But more than that, the opfensive line, which was supposed
to be improved, wasn't improved. The pass rush, which was
supposed to be improved, wasn't improved. They have major issues,
and you know, it's it's never as bad as it
looks in week one, other than Carolina, but it's But
so I think they have a chance to bounce back
this week because Washington didn't exactly light it up either.
But there's big problems to new work.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
Pete. Did you see what Tiki Barber had to say
about Daniel Jones.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
No, what did he say Where the quote where he
was saying that he thinks that people would agree with
him that he would take Daniel Jones over Dak Prescott,
that quote is out there.
Speaker 6 (35:51):
That's a moronic take. I mean, that's that's so that's like,
that's like something Brady used to say when he worked.
Speaker 3 (35:57):
The next time.
Speaker 6 (35:58):
I mean that no way anybody over Prescott.
Speaker 5 (36:04):
Why do you say stuff like this, Pete, I mean
it's like by the way, I've already gotten word that
you're already getting into it with your new co host
down there about them trying to teach you stuff about
defensive back play and all that.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
I heard you got sensitive already.
Speaker 6 (36:18):
Tang Well, you know that was Logan Logan Ryan. He
jumped in, he emptied the chamber the first day, and
now he has nothing left. It's kind of like when
you got in there and they all told me, they said,
you have to break Brady because Brady's never been because
he was always is a stark quarterback. And by the
time Brady left, I had broken him. When I used
(36:39):
to go on the bar show.
Speaker 2 (36:41):
Pete, there was no way you two broke me and Chad,
not not us together.
Speaker 3 (36:46):
That that's no one thing.
Speaker 5 (36:48):
The only thing that's ever broken Pete was the flu
he got in Atlanta when he had to go get
a special shot fund some doctor that supposedly revived him.
Speaker 3 (36:54):
In the Watson was.
Speaker 6 (36:56):
A miracle worker. Whatever he gave me in my ass.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
You were like the Shawn Watson this watching out.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
That's one of the great quotes ever said on this show.
Whatever he gave me my ass, he was a miracle worker.
Speaker 6 (37:12):
That's a shot a needle.
Speaker 3 (37:14):
Okay, yeah, okay, good, I'm glad we cleared that up
that league.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
That's really funny. Actually, now that you put it in
that context, it hit me. Hey, Pete, can I ask
you this? And watching and and and picking what's going
on in the league this year?
Speaker 3 (37:31):
All right?
Speaker 2 (37:32):
You we talked about no bun once seeing what happened
with New England, But when you look at some of
these teams, you know, it's kind of like, well, we
talked about the New York Giants, but let's talk about
the New York Jets.
Speaker 3 (37:45):
From last night.
Speaker 2 (37:47):
I'm not high on them, but and I'm I'm I'm
not saying that because they lost last night. I'm not
sure what they'll do the rest of the way, but
I do not have them making the playoffs. What has
been your vision of them?
Speaker 1 (38:03):
How?
Speaker 2 (38:03):
How are you looking at them? How would you like,
you know, kind of what they say, fade them or whatever.
How would you look at this New York Jets team
for this season?
Speaker 6 (38:13):
Well? I thought they'd be better than what they looked
like last night. And it's not just you know Rogers.
I thought the offensive line would be better. I thought
the defense would be the same. Old defense, and they
were bad on defense. That's what stood out to me.
They were really bad on defense, and they got pushed
around in the run game that you know, they got
(38:34):
guys wide open in the secondary of times. It just
didn't look like their defense. And on the offense, the
offensive line wasn't great. Rogers, you know, he has one
weapon basically, and you know, up until a late run,
breist Hall was averaging two point six per carry. So
they have issues and big issues. And I don't know
if Rogers can you know, become Rogers and overcome them
(38:56):
because they don't have a lot of weapons. I mean,
who's he's throwing to is Buddy Allen are alan'zzar doesn't
scare anybody. They have major issues, and I don't like
my pick of them going deep into the playoffs as
the as the wildcard team, I think.
Speaker 5 (39:10):
The division, well, who are your super Bowl picks on
that note?
Speaker 6 (39:14):
What's that? Brady?
Speaker 3 (39:16):
Who are your super Bowl picks on that note?
Speaker 6 (39:18):
Can I can I take Jets?
Speaker 3 (39:21):
You said the Jets? No?
Speaker 6 (39:23):
I picked the Packers and the Bills.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
Okay, that's not bad, because I was about to say,
do you think that the Bills are going to win
that division.
Speaker 6 (39:33):
I think the builders, I think the the builds are
is just as good as they've always been. And they
will go down to Miami on Thursday night and Josh
Allen will owe the Dolphins like he always does, and
there'll be two to zero and sit at the top
of the division.
Speaker 5 (39:45):
I mean you, well, you have to understand, LeVar, there's
a long, long, reaching back conversation that it's just it
doesn't make any sense. So Pete, on Draft night, when
Joe Burrow has taking number one overall by the Cincinnati Bengals,
he said he would win multiple super Bowls. That's the quote, Pete.
(40:06):
Stop trying to back away from it. Here's the problem.
What year is this for Joe Burrow in the league?
Speaker 3 (40:11):
Seven? Is this seventh year? Now? He had chicked for Burrow.
Didn't think it might be a seventh are okay?
Speaker 6 (40:21):
But it wasn't. Moltiple, I didn't say multiple.
Speaker 3 (40:24):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (40:24):
First off, stop getting into your cover three deep middle backpedal.
Speaker 3 (40:27):
All right, you said it, you said it, you said it.
Speaker 5 (40:32):
Here's here's the crazy part, Pete, here's the crazy part.
Speaker 3 (40:36):
He never picks them.
Speaker 5 (40:37):
He makes this proclamation and then he never thinks the
Cincinnati Bengals are going to win a Super Bowl. Look,
maybe the slow start and they obviously last week one
is part of that. But Pete, you can't keep not
picking them. If you said something and you still believe
it doesn't make any.
Speaker 6 (40:52):
Sense, well maybe next year off them, but you.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
Won't because you said that last year and you didn't
pick him this year.
Speaker 6 (40:59):
I said one, maybe well after after after Sunday, I'm
glad I didn't pick him. Awful.
Speaker 5 (41:05):
I mean, so, Pete, are you going Pete, are you
gonna be wrong about that one?
Speaker 3 (41:11):
Or you're gonna keep pushing it off twenty twenty.
Speaker 6 (41:14):
I still think they have a cant and then in
the next couple of years. I mean maybe the.
Speaker 3 (41:20):
Burl's only been four years. This is fifth season.
Speaker 5 (41:24):
Okay, twenty twenty years and no point and on no
point have you picked so you got you got five
years for them to win too.
Speaker 6 (41:32):
No, I said one, maybe two?
Speaker 3 (41:34):
I didn't know you said multiple. You said multiple.
Speaker 2 (41:38):
Sounds like he's owning you right now, Pete, are you
going to let this just happen on the show like this?
It sounds like Q is owning you, Pete, Pete, I
don't want to hype in it.
Speaker 4 (41:48):
Listen, I don't want to get you know, get us
in any more trouble here and get you anymore.
Speaker 3 (41:53):
He the best.
Speaker 4 (41:56):
I did want to get your thoughts on this. Will
Levis had maybe the worst interception of the weekend. And
you have heard, I've already seen from people on x
about your support of Will Levis.
Speaker 3 (42:08):
You are a believer in him.
Speaker 4 (42:10):
How bad was the inbox and the replies to you
following that terrible pick six from Will Levis in Chicago?
Speaker 6 (42:17):
Oh oh, they just killed me, I mean, and rightfully
for that interception. Rightfully so it was.
Speaker 3 (42:24):
It was bad.
Speaker 6 (42:25):
It was a dumb play, and he'd be first when
he said it after the game it was super play
and rightfully so. But again, was he the worst quarterback
in that game that day? He made the worst play,
But was he the worst quarterback? The other guy? Nobody?
Everybody just glosses over the sea?
Speaker 3 (42:39):
Is that the bar? Though, Pete for a year? He's
been in the league for a year. Pete, is that
the bar?
Speaker 6 (42:46):
What'd you say?
Speaker 3 (42:48):
Is that the bar? For comparison?
Speaker 5 (42:50):
You're comparing him to a rookie in his first start
ever versus a guy who's been in the league.
Speaker 3 (42:54):
For a year.
Speaker 6 (42:55):
Yeah, but pray, this guy's made seven starts himself. Seven.
He's got what he's got seven more than that rookie
dead seven.
Speaker 5 (43:01):
Yeah, and he's also sat back and watched and seeing
the game, playing and everything else that goes on. There
is something to that. So you can say it starts
all you want. He's been in the NFL for a year.
Speaker 6 (43:13):
Okay, So so he's got seven more starts and and
and he was playing on the road against a better defense,
one of the better defenses in the league, and he
opened the season. He didn't play that great, but it
was just the other guy on the other side was
just as bad. You want to go around the league
and talk about bad quarterback.
Speaker 3 (43:26):
Play, there's a lot of Atlanta.
Speaker 6 (43:28):
Let's go down to Atlanta and you're power.
Speaker 5 (43:31):
Are you back, Are you back pounding away at Kirk Cousins?
Are you back hammering Kirk Cousins?
Speaker 6 (43:37):
What'd you say?
Speaker 3 (43:38):
Are you back hammering Kirk Cousins? Back at it again? Yeah?
Just so you guys know, you.
Speaker 6 (43:44):
Know what you know what happened before that game. I'll
tell you exactly what happened before the game. When they
went in there, the Steelers were warming up and they
were telling everyone walking around on the field, saying, hey,
it's a big game. It's a big game, and Kirk
Curtin was a big game and of course he Wilton.
Speaker 3 (43:56):
In the moment like time this is Pete had to
eat his words.
Speaker 5 (44:02):
Pete had to eat his words like the past two
years because because it has played so well and then
and then now, he keeps bringing back these same narratives
sof than Russell Wilson. Like when Russell Wilson comes back
to start and play, Pete will literally lam based him
every Tuesday that you come on the show.
Speaker 3 (44:16):
Is that is that? I'm true? Pete? Even if he
wins Player of the Week, Pete will not mention that.
You know, hey, Pete, you know you know what I
like about your approach.
Speaker 4 (44:30):
Somebody gets on to you about Will Loves and you're like,
oh yeah, watch this, and you just turned the gun
around on everybody else and every other quarterback's got it.
Speaker 9 (44:38):
Good stuff, he is, Pete. We love till Pete.
Speaker 6 (44:50):
It's always good to come on with guys I've owned.
Speaker 3 (44:51):
Over the years. Pete.
Speaker 5 (44:55):
Enjoy never beating me in picks, all right, enjoy that
it's get him on X at Priscos, Pete Prisco's senior

Speaker 3 (45:06):
That was fun. He's the best man. I'll tell you
this much. Just from working with him for.
Speaker 5 (45:10):
Almost a decade, you guys would probably say I'm combative.
Pete is like the ultimate combative person on set. There'd
be times when he would start off an argument, like
arguing for something, and then by the end of it,
he'd be turning around arguing back to the point against himself,
like the point that you initially made, keep you on
your side, but wouldn't wan to agree to him. It's like,
(45:31):
it's the most confusing thing I've ever dealt with in
my life.
Speaker 3 (45:35):
It's having a discussion with Pete Prisky.
Speaker 4 (45:37):
Do you see what he did? It was really like
jiu jitsu. He just went the subject of Will Levis,
whose guy gets brought up? And he literally went after
Caleb Williams, Russell Wilson.
Speaker 3 (45:46):
And Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 2 (45:47):
Hey, that's the proper that's the proper thing to do,
per thing to do do this to me.
Speaker 3 (45:54):
We used to do this to me. We used to
do our picks and and we would do our previews
of the game, and he's got these different petisms, so
he brings out the quarterback scales. So in essence, every single.
Speaker 5 (46:08):
Time there was a game where there was a quarterback,
whether it's he loves Rogers, he'll always picked Rogers, He'll
always pick Josh Allen.
Speaker 3 (46:16):
Uh, he'll usually pick Burrow.
Speaker 5 (46:19):
But there's like others that he'll never pick, like Kirk Cousins,
like Russell Wilson. So he would always default to the
quarterback scale. But he does this demonstration where he literally
takes his hand above his.
Speaker 3 (46:31):
Head, he drops it. He's like a quarterback scales. It's
like Rogers, and he's just like Rogers is better.
Speaker 5 (46:37):
So like that's that's like a very succinct way of
picking games.
Speaker 3 (46:42):
But that's how Pete would do it. I mean, we
are one weekend and he's already off and running
