Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's the best of two pros and a couple of
Joe with Lamar Areas and Rady Quinn and Jonas Knocks
on four Radio. How the hell are we feeling here
on Monday morning? Good morning. I feel like we just
we just went through the first week of the NFL. Baby,
(00:22):
I mean like it was I'll be honest, it was awesome.
I loved it. I literally I just started turning on
the games on Sunday and I was like, man, it's back.
It's all back, you know. I feel like, I don't know,
it's weird. I haven't felt like that since, like you
walk into a locker room, you know, you're with your boys,
like the seasons. They kind of felt like that, even
though we had that some buddies over in the neighborhood,
(00:44):
like it just felt good, Like it felt good man,
Week one. NFL's back. Like, I don't know, you guys,
fell I'm excited, excited to talk about it. Feel good
for everyone, I'll say that. And that wasn't even a
shot at you, que though. That was more so in uh,
you know Lincoln. You know, just just things are things
(01:04):
changed very very very quickly. It's talking about Saturday, man,
I turned the page on that. Yeah, I can't. I'm
just saying, you know, I'm sure it's lingering for for
Scott Frost today it is really million dollar buyout. I
think it'll be all right. Well that's fair, right, Yeah,
(01:26):
tell me what ye go. It's a soft landing for
for Scott Frost, can you We've talked about this before,
even when they're not good and not all that interesting
and not all that exciting. Somehow the Dallas Cowboys manage
to snag a headline and following the opening weekend in
(01:48):
the NFL, the full slated games on a Sunday and
Dallas Cowboys who grab a headline after a very very
poor performance national television at home against the town By
Buccaneers on Sunday night. Now the conversation switches to what
the hell are they going to do? Because Dak Prescott
has got some issue with this thumb. It's a fracture.
(02:09):
He's gonna miss several weeks. Well, I mean, don't listen
to us. Just take it from Jerry Jones, because this
is normal behavior that an owner would speak out and
give an injury update on his quarterback after the game.
Particularly disappointed for fans and Dyke will be out for
a little while. We'll be dealing with that as well.
So this was a really tough night for the Cowboys,
but and and a really a surprising night. But of
(02:34):
course really add to it right there. Then to lose
him for several weeks, we'll say more about how long,
how many weeks that may be. Yes, he has an
injury above his joint in his thumb up here that
lead surgery. So LaVar Arrington, your Philadelphia Eagle picked to
win the division looking better and better. I mean that
(02:56):
was that was going to be that anyway. I said, listen, well,
I say they got a defense, and now their offense
is their liability. I didn't have trusts. Yeahs creep back
into that thing. I don't know I'm talking about. I'm
talking about Dallas. I'm saying Dallas had a defense. Yeah,
(03:17):
Dallas has has a defense there. I just don't trust
their offense as far as it's a crazy too. By
the way, I don't mean to interrupting. That's a crazy thing,
not that it's that it doesn't make sense, but the
fact that that's a reality, that Dallas's offense is a liability. Yeah,
that's a problem. Can I ask you guys this like
they were running the ball all right. It's like they
(03:38):
all of a sudden, I couldn't figure out how to
make plays downfield. They've read that like double reverse that
went no. I don't know what the hell that was.
Early in the game, I was thinking of myself, this
is one of those where you getting a little too cute,
like I a double reverses. I can't remember the last
time I saw him that actually worked in the NFL
because guys are so fast, like it just it doesn't
(03:58):
work like you could have misdirection. You can't have like
a double misdirection like you. It's it's no different than
you know, you've got some wide receivers who are fast,
and they could run like a double breaking route like
a post corner post that works for like Tyreek Hill
or a few guys. If you try to run that
with like a normal wide receiver in the NFL, your
quarterbacks handing sacked because it takes too long. It's just
(04:19):
it doesn't work. And I'm like watching going, why are
they not able to get more going on offense? I mean,
it was it, Doc, It's not like their offensive line
play was that bad last night, especially when they were
running the football. I just know this. On defense, Dallas
held up their end of the bargain. I mean, they
kept forcing them into to fill golds situations. And man,
(04:41):
he's a grown man um And I think what they
scored one touchdown in in the third quarter and they
got shut out in the fourth quarter. Their defense is
not going to be the issue for Dallas. It's going
to be their offense. And I don't you know, you
ask the question why they stall out or why aren't
they better? I don't know what it is. I don't
(05:03):
know what it is, but it's just it's that thing
like when you watch how they play and how they
handle things, just like the same thing with Cincinnati. It's like, oh,
Cincinnati is primed to be that team that beats up
on Pittsburgh, and Pittsburgh is no longer this and Pittsburgh's no.
It's like there's a certain thing like this is the
way they kind of handle things sometimes and you wonder
(05:26):
how they progressed from that that thing, whatever that thing
is that I can't make it as funny because we'll
have the debate sometimes I can't give you factual information
on what that that thing is that I see when
I'm watching some of these teams play and when they're
playing against who they're playing against. But it's a thing
(05:47):
like when a team that is used to losing too
and I've been a part of it as a player,
Like I had to deal with that with Michigan. There
was a thing. We were a better team in Michigan
than nine. Michigan still found a way to beat us
because we were under it. We played with that thing,
you know. So to me, I see some of these teams. Dallas,
(06:09):
they showed that thing. They can't win big games. They're
not They're not really good against really good teams, like
like they might get good stats, but they don't win,
you know, and they get garbage time stats if you
ask me. But it's like, I don't know. Dallas is
just not the type of team I trusted on the
offensive side of the ball. And to be honest with you,
(06:30):
with Philadelphia, I don't really trust Philadelphia either, But I
just think that they are the addition by subtraction. I
don't think that they're Super Bowl contender. I just think
that they're in NFC East. I think they're going to
be the team that takes the NFC East. That's what
you know, just based off of what I think they're
bringing talent wise, what Dallas doesn't bring on the offensive
(06:53):
side of the ball, and and maybe Washington competes for it.
I I don't know, but you know in New York
didn't look horrible against Tennessee. I mean, they could have
won the game. So you know, there's always that could
be interesting. I just it feels like when Jerry Jones
says disappointing night for the Cowboys, disappointing night for everybody involved.
(07:14):
You could literally take that piece of sound and apply
it to so many games post game over the past
couple of years in Dallas like this is the same
vibe every time they play a big time game like this.
You come out of the game and go, the hell
was that? And and the fact that New York did
(07:34):
win again by the way, Brian Daball big balls, dayball,
going for going for two. Their s Kwan look good,
by the way, he did look pretty good. Staters steps up.
I mean, first off, everyone's making a big deal about
that play called the Tits had two players in the
backfield just needed to make attack on Sakon if not
for him, like his ability to make those guys missed
(07:56):
and dive the end zone. We're not a different discussion,
Like I like, that's one of those place where people
are gonna go back watch the box score and go, Pa,
what a bullsey call my table, and you go back
and you watch it, go oh damn, Like Tennessee should
have won that game. They should have. I mean, they
missed a field goal at the end, but still like
it should have made a tackle and then they should
have ended up being down one anyway. It's just that's
(08:17):
how it works out, man. But but great players make
great play. Se Kwan looks like he's back to the
form that the Giants were hoping he was holy and
so good for him rolling out there. You see that
that that hit that Cam Brown put on a big
henry that was a Penn State two buck bucked him,
fucked him good too. Penn State had a good, good day.
(08:45):
I told you when I saw him when he was
a college just like God, like, you know, you don't
make human beings that look like that, and and I
was like I don't. I mean, it's not even like
he's gonna get as much high as he should, like
once he gets to the cob body wild because just
you don't see dudes were built like that. But man,
I mean, yeah, John Dotson coming up clutch. We saw
that his entire career Penn State. I mean, where where
(09:10):
does where does Dallas go now? At quarterback? What's the plan? Like?
What are the options? Do you remember when we were
when we were talking about like the season preview kind
of we talked about some teams Dallas this whole issue
they never have backup, like like they never have someone
you look at like at this point, now you're gonna
start thinking about like and if it's his throwing hand thumb,
(09:31):
which it is that I mean a few weeks, I
don't know. I mean it seems like it's gonna take
a lot longer than that. Like it seems like we're
venturing into not the same injuries what Russell Wilson had
a year ago, but that's one where you come back
after three or four weeks, you're not ready. You're gonna
look like you did, look like you did last night,
where things just look off, your accuracies off all of that.
(09:54):
I mean, I would look at maybe making a run
for Jimmy g I mean, this is why this is
why you do that contract, that's why you hold on
to him. Right. Well, yeah, that's although although although we
although we can get out of San fran they may
not be so sure they want to let him go. Right, Um, yeah,
(10:19):
I just Dallas, this this feels like this season might
be uh already headed towards the direction of we're looking
at a lot of turnover potentially, because you know, even
when he wasn't the game Brady's point, it didn't look
all that hot. I mean, they couldn't generate much on offense.
The defense kept him in the game, they kept forcing
(10:40):
field goals. And now we're sitting here, if he's gonna
miss what six weeks? Is six weeks a modest estimation
because that what did Russell Wilson missed last year was
the six weeks? No, he only missed three. Maybe Forks
did a buy or something. Um, and then he came back.
Remember we kept saying like he didn't look like right,
I kept telling it was gonna it was gonna look off,
(11:01):
and he probably look back to himself until about six
weeks or ever it was. So they've got Cincinnati next week,
does Dallas? Then they're at the Giants? Yeah, I'm good. Yeah,
I'm all good. You thought I was gonna go longer
than you took a sip of water. The okay, No,
I was just you know, clearing my throat a little bit.
But all right, I caught you a little bit. I
(11:22):
came up short, I stopped short on good, had more time.
It's you know, it's it's our first post NFL Monday,
so we're all trying to figure this thing out. We're
trying to get the two guys look sharp on Saturday too.
I know you want to move on from Saturday. But
and you and Reggie kind of had like this matching
matching colors deal, like what we do mb or something
like that. Was that, Yeah, well we try to try
(11:45):
to have everyone the same color. All right, shout out
to the wardrobe department. I mean, guys, look, really, we're
gonna let that slide. Burt Oh. I mean we're sitting
here trying to, uh, you know, not have everybody be
the same color. What's that supposed man? Yeah, I mean
Michael Jackson, Michael Michael Jackson sang about this you know
stuff and black and ye y, yeah, what a bad
(12:10):
song it was. It wasn't interesting. It was a video
though you don't like the lyrics, I would learn into it.
What do you what do you get that? There? It
was a weird video, like, wasn't it the one where
they were going all over the world you may starts
singing and you know they was, you know, with the
Indians and stuff like that. He said that it was
(12:33):
very very It was a very yes, yes, you can't
say that that's still that's still Indians? Is wow? O?
Man burns back by the way distracting hammers, I was.
(12:56):
I was trying to go down one one this and
me and you were going all the way. There one
great scene in that movie. Yeah, Bert got got the
distracting hammers. He's got his toolboxes's got his toolbox out. Yeah,
he's got he's got hammers, fully blown hammers. Oh my god,
(13:20):
just unbelievable. Who knows what he's going on the other
side though, But but the subtitles are trip that's all
out though, well listen, so there it is, so there
you go. Wait wait, wait wait. We would like to
take a job the Dallas Cowboys for participating, forgiving the
opportunity to derail the entire segment. I don't go. How
(13:44):
would you sump up the Cowboys. We go on performance. Well,
we turned on the movie The Mule uh and got
to a boxes came out. Yeah, toolboxes hammers not not
regular hammers. But be sure to catch live editions of two.
Was in a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LaVar Arrington,
and Jonas Knocks week days at six am Easter three
(14:06):
am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio. Man.
Poor Baker Mayfield, why that's a bummer. I mean, you know,
he he comes out and he struggles early on, he's
not playing all that well. And then they start to
get into a little bit of a rhythm the Carolina
Panthers do, and the and the they orchestrate this this
(14:27):
go ahead drive. Yeah, and by the way, I heard you.
By the way, LaVar dropped Baker on chain to t
J Housh Venzata and d J didn't know what to
do with it. He said it there and he was
just like, I'm not going there. I'm not I'm not
(14:48):
going to he said, um, I just finished what he said.
I was reiterated. So they get down and and they
finally start to put something together on offense, and then
they take a lead and then this awful roughing the
pastor call on Brian Burns gives Cleveland an extra fifteen yards.
(15:08):
They go down and Kade York hits a fifty eight
yard field goal and Baker Mayfield loses his revenge game. Browns,
come on, man, it's just shame. But on the flip side,
it has been had been eighteen years since the Browns
won a season opener. They're O sixteen and one, um,
(15:29):
so at least the Brown's gotta wine. It's been a while.
It is true U Now. Baker Mayfield did talk after
the game about just the matchup and h you know
how he felt about going in and seeing his former
team here was the now Carolina Panthers starting quarterback. It
was good to see some people obviously disappointed with the
way things finished. I would love to have the bragging
(15:49):
rights against those guys, but we didn't finish. Everybody made
this out to be the Super Bowl. But despite what
everybody's gonna make this, there's sixteen more games. The Super
Bowl is not until February, and this is the beginning
of September, so a lot of anticipation. But we're gonna
flush this. We're gonna learn it and we're gonna be better.
Whoa hold on, hold on now, Bake, Oh he wanted
(16:12):
that one. Carolina ain't wonted to super like they want
their lots of super Bowl in week one? Can somebody
get that man the news flash? Can Can they update him?
Carolina is not in the running for the super Bowl,
not not now, not not this year, Bake. I just
I hate to do this to you, but you know,
(16:33):
let's let's work on winning a game. How about that.
Let's not let's not go super Bowl. Let's just just
or just more than five, which has would have been
the standard in Carolina. Let's go game by game, you know,
let's go game by game right now, Like, I don't
know why super Bowl is coming out your mouth? Man,
Like Jay, not one up? Put that one back in
the backyard. It's been a while since everyone saw the
(16:55):
Bills play, and so now they like people are like
super Bowl because dude, the Bills played Thursday night. Did
you did you see that? Did you not see them? Yeah?
That was that's what you want to Did you not
see Casey? Did you not see that? Did you not
see the chargers and narrators? By the way, I think
(17:16):
you're right about this whole, every one of them getting
into the playoffs. I mean, they didn't play the great is,
but they didn't play bad. It was a game. What
did you think of Baker's performance though, just just early on?
Did you did I feel like he started to put
it together there towards the end. Yeah, I thought he
started to get it and get into a rhythm. But again,
like that, he was one of those examples that i'd use, Um,
(17:36):
a quarterback who's in a new system with new people,
he's playing around. Um, you know, he had a nice
connection with Robby Anderson down the field. But I'll be
honest with you, like the deep the deep throws are
the easier ones as a quarterback when you're new to
a system, Like you want me to go in and
take a seven step drop through a deep post, five
step drop hits through a go route. That's easy, and seriously,
(17:57):
that's easy. It's everything else in between. It's the timing
and rhythm routes and the short intermediate passes. It's knowing
how the guy, if he's got any sort of option
in his route to break out or break in, seeing
his body language, knowing how he cuts and breaks out
and breaks in and and then being on the same
page in regards to find those soft spots in the
zone and how he comes back to the football, how
(18:20):
you know, how he finds your football where he likes
the back shoulder and contested coverage, like all those things
you know, matter, And that's where when when you're kind
of going back and looking through it, he didn't seem
as Chris early, you know, going through the offense and
his reads and progressions, um, and then he started to
find himself kind of get going there. But that that's
that's why it's such a tough task when you're a
(18:41):
quarterback and you've got to find a new home elsewhere.
It just takes time, man Like, it takes time to
become really you know what you're hoping that you can be,
unless you're a guy like Payton Manning, who you get
to bring the offense with you and you get to
make everyone else out around you learn your offense and
you teach it to him and then it's just a
matter of them eventually getting to your level. And that's
(19:04):
obviously not the case here. I don't know, I just
I think that in a game like this there was
going to be way too much made of it one
way or the other, whether he played well, whether he
didn't play well, whether they won, whether they lost. Um,
I thought it was great for for sports. I thought
it was great for football. Obviously him returning Jacoby Price
(19:28):
being a part of the team that that wins the game.
So you gotta back up like like this is to me,
like what I took away from it. You gotta back
up that was good enough to be in the game
and delivered the victory and week won over over the
former starter of the team. So you're basically you're basically
(19:49):
saying Baker's back up would have beat him in the
head the hit game, you know what I mean, Like,
that's the guy who's starting right now. So what does
that mean when Deshaun Watson? Can we see this about
the Browns though? That is a talented Yeah, yeah, they
were deep. Well you I'm just saying you look at
(20:09):
their receivers that I'm just saying with a Mari Cooper
now and with the rushing it. I mean, yeah, but
the the old line plays a huge factor and all that,
Like they might be they might be able to survive this,
like if their defense can play that way and if
they can run the football and then just allowed Jacobe
to make a few throws here there, like they might
be able to survive a lengthy expansion and like still
(20:32):
be in the hunt when he gets back well. And
also if you look like we talked about the Steelers,
they won the game, but look at the injuries they're
dealing with. Those are going to impact them all year.
We don't know how the quarterback situation is going to
go based on one week. The offensive line improvements don't
really seem like they've had an impact in Cincinnati, But
I got I look at a game like this and
if all you're trying to do is just get through,
(20:55):
survive in advance, and if you've got to win ugly
games like this on fifty eight yard field goals all
of a sudden, if they're in the conversation by week eleven,
you've got another month and a half of the season
when Dshaun gets back. I don't think it's outside of the
the Roman possibility that Cleveland's got a shot at to
win this division. I don't know how sustainable it is
(21:15):
to win ugly, you know, as as the weeks we're
on and the teams get more doubt in and game
plans become more more and more. Uh, I guess relevant
or or prevalent to the success of what what the
team is running. I don't know that making it ugly.
(21:36):
There aren't very many teams that have a roster that
can make it ugly enough for them to sustain winning
that way. But with that being said, if there is
a division where that would exist, it would be the North,
would be the NFC North, where that would would defense,
kicking field goals, playing field position. Uh. But somewhere like
(21:59):
the a f C W, it's not gonna happen. Um.
I think I think we we see some some of
what it may look like in the NFC West. They
that one might not be as good as advertised, that
that that remains to be seen. But I mean, if
you look around the entire league, I guess there are
(22:19):
a few a few more a few more divisions where
you could say making it ugly, getting through making it
ugly could work. Uh. The backup quarterback you were talking
about that beat the starter, Baker Mayfield, Jacoby Brissette. He
had a chance to speak afterwards. He was sort of
the forgotten man in this whole drama. Here was Jacoby
(22:40):
this moment. Uh sorry, Like the build up to this
moment is is it goes further than form I know
for me for from being here um a long time
coming to get to this point emotional started this you
(23:00):
have probably so yeah, I would say so just I
think that that that definitely payed a lot into it.
Uh And like I said leading up to this, these
aren't promised. Uh, so you whenever you get an opportunity,
(23:20):
you know you chaired those opportunities. It's real time. Man's
real he's because he's been putting a lot of bad
spots to where when he does get a chance to start,
it's not the most ideal situation. New England Jimmy Garoppolo
got hurt after Brady was suspended for the four games
in the play gate Yeah, and tires on the sideline,
(23:41):
and it's like here, Jacoby, you're the starter, and it's
just like, so good for him. Man, he's getting an opportunity.
You won a game, yeah, Miami. Like if he was
basically there, what because uh what the issue to what
did was to ah did he get COVID or was
he deal with an injury that Jacoby Purcette was in there?
(24:02):
Because I can't quite recall, but the points still resides.
I mean, it's Here's the thing is when when you
get to start some games or even just you started
games your entire career, that's why you're in the NFL,
and then you kind of are having a hard time
finding traction the older you get, you just wanted to
appreciate it because one day, I mean, when you're not
(24:23):
the guy, when you're not on a team like you,
you you realize, like, man, that's special. It really is
something special be able to play the game you love
as a profession. And quarterbacks so different for a lot
of different reasons. But the other is like you can't
make it transition in your position. Really, like when you're
a quarterback, you're a quarterback only one place. You can't
(24:44):
go out there and there's not a bunch of the
guys in your position you all get to get on
the field or you can rotate in a certain package,
like it's either you or it's not. And so when
it's not you, it takes away from the love of
the game because it's not the same experience. Once you
get that shot and it's it's your show, it's the
greatest feeling in the world, ma'am. So I'm happy for him,
(25:04):
and I do think things will get better for their
passing game, Like we tend to you if you watch
the game, it's like, all right, they kind of one ugly.
We'll look something like the Carolina parents have a bad
past defense. They got a good pass for us, good
secondary Like that was a good defense they faced and
they found a way to win it. It's all matters.
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LaVar Errington and
(25:27):
Jonas Knocks week days at six am e staring three
am Pacific. All right, this is Jay Glazer. And you
may know me for the world of football or fighting
or even shows like HBO's Ballers. Well you don't know
is for my entire life. I have lived in something
I referred to as the gray depression anxiety. So now
I'm coming out with a new podcast, Unbreakable, a mental
(25:48):
health podcast with Jay Glazer where each week, well we
talk about mental health. I hope to describe it, give
it words. Listen to Unbreakable with Jay Glazer on the
I Heart Radio app, Apple po guests or wherever you
get your podcasts. Can we address an issue a situation,
um brady and I'd love to you tell me, all right,
(26:09):
We've been working together a long time time. You tell
me if this is unreasonable, all right, if or if
Lee and I actually have a gripe here? Okay, Well,
just hear me out. LaVar Arrington fancies himself like one
of the great chefs. And I would say in the country,
like you're you're always talking. Yeah, I'm pretty good, better
(26:31):
than Roberto. Well when he tries this this, uh what
what I gave? When he can tell me what he thinks. So,
LaVar has been talking about all the things he puts together,
whether it's ribs or casserole, or like fever and anything
he does, like wings, like everything he does. Like he
always talks about how great it is. But he says,
(26:54):
I never have enough left over. It always gets eaten,
or else I would bring them in for you guys.
I'm like, oh man, that that would be cool. Only
to find out, well, he did bring some stuff in
today just for Roberto, not for Lee and I, not Freddie,
for anybody else, but just Roberto hit the button breaker
(27:15):
there go. Yeah, you better believe it had to look
out all right, So like are we being on eat
out here? You know? Well two things. One, um, you
don't eat food, Okay, I don't know why anyone took
that into consideration when I brought it in, But like,
why would you bring in anything for jonas He's not
gonna eat it anyway? What do you think I'm hibernating?
I would eat it later on? And the difference between
Lee and Berto and this one is well, it was limited.
(27:38):
It was a limited yes, and and and Roberto appreciates
good food. Meanwhile Lee, he'll eat pretty much anything. Ye
Like is this is this true or false? Doesn't mean
I appreciate good food? Well, I don't know about that.
You can't. You can't eat what you eat and say
(27:59):
you actually appreciate good food, because if you do appreciate
good food, you wouldn't eat the stuff that comes out
of a vending machine that's been there for six months potentially,
which you have done before. The options are limited here. Well,
but here's my reasoning. Can I get my reasons that
I'll go to Whole Foods and pay forty eight dollars
for a napkin? So what do you want? Not too
(28:19):
long ago? Right? We came in and and Berto hooked
your boy up right, And I said, I'm I'm I'm
I got you like next time I got you. And
that's what I did, so we like you know that
that was a repaying I offer somebody Jones. I can't.
I can't he right now, right, yeah, but I would
eat it later on, but I would try. Did you
(28:41):
try any of it right now? No? No? Okay, okay,
I'm blowing from last night, though I can't wait to
hear what you say. I can't start from last time.
Made some wings and then yeah, yeah they got that.
That's why I left the studio so early in the show.
We got to timmy trumpets in the in the producer studio,
(29:05):
stay out of there. Just to you, guys, are my
side hurts from wings? What do you eat the bone? No? Well,
I mean bandless, I mean some boneless wings. That's what's
chicken breads. You come up to too small pieces. And
I made my own bread and everything, and I just
(29:26):
kept eating, eating and drinking beer. And I wasn't a
good decision. All right, he's having a case of the mondays.
But yeah, at least she got some ribs to wash
him down and Jack bleep. We didn't get anything. I
can't wait for Tuesday to hear if if if my
opinion of how I do things is is accurate or off. Okay, Well,
(29:49):
here's what we do know. The Dallas Cowboys have an
injury at quarterback Dak Prescott. The reports are he's gonna
miss sixty eight weeks because he's got a Bennett fracture?
Was that the one that Russell Wilson had? Why do
I feel like I've heard that before? The benefit wasn't?
Surely wasn't Russell Wilson had a mallet finger. Well whatever,
Bennett Mallett, same thing. So so he's got a Bennett fracture,
(30:12):
he's out. He's out for six to eight weeks since.
So now the conversation is, are are they going to
make a run for Jimmy Garoppolo? Is Dallas in in
his spot to where they're desperate enough that they've got
to upgrade at the position? Cooper Rush was out last night,
but they feel like they need to upgrade if they
want to save their season? Do they make a run
at Jimmy Garoppolo? And then you guys brought up that, uh, well,
(30:33):
maybe forty Niners wouldn't really be inclined Chicago, all right,
what is it just the weather? Part of you didn't
sit there and say, I wonder if they put Jimmy
Garoppolo in to try to pull the game out. Yeah,
part of me did feel that way, and I actually,
(30:54):
like what ran through my head was this, I thought
that exact thought, and then I thought, no, Kyle Shanahana
won't do that to a quarterback because he understands what
that's gonna do to the quarterback. Whereas if like Brian
Flores was your head coach, he would have done that
to the heart back. You know what I'm saying, Like
you had a defensive minded head coach, sometimes it doesn't
understand that perspective as the quarterback. Sometimes they'll do that
(31:14):
and then you're like, dude, you don't understand this a
young quarterback. You're you're scarring him. Like now, every time
he goes out there and he has a bad first half,
he's been looking at his shoulder the entire time, and
you can say what you can say, all he needs
to be more mentally tough. Dude, if you had that
on every player on defense, every time they messed up,
they'd be looking over the shoulder because they're gonna get pulled.
How do you think your defense would play tentative, not aggressive,
(31:36):
probably scared to get up field and get after the
quarterback because they're worried about getting out of the gap
in the rush lane. Like it would be an entirely
different scenario. But I look, I'm gonna say it was
this weather road game, first game Week one, Like, I
don't imagine the Bears are going to be competitive this year.
I want to reserve judgment on all this until we
get a few games under Trey Lance's belt. Yeah, they
(31:59):
didn't look good, I'm and the Bears didn't look good, right,
they didn't look good. Uh, and not looking good was
good enough to win against the forty niners, which I
thought was the biggest indictment. It's like, if you're gonna
start Trade Lance and you know this is the guy
you're going with, then you had better have a game
(32:20):
plan and a strategy that's going to to shield him
from the realities of I think we all came into
this thinking that we're questioning whether Trade Lance is is
ready to be that type of quarterback. Okay, you spent
a high draft pick on him, so you're forced to
put him out there and see if he's the guy. Okay,
(32:43):
you you do a contract negotiation that allows for you
to keep the guy who you have won with, in fact,
the only quarterback you've won with while in in San Francisco,
where you like, if you have one more showing like this,
you get one more game like this, What do you do?
(33:08):
What do you do? Because to me, this whole trade
thing now, now, let me ask you this Q with
the no trade clause. If say Dallas comes and says, yep,
we want Jimmy Garoppolo, we want to trade for him.
Even if if said they didn't want to do the trade,
doesn't doesn't Jimmy Garoppolo have the power to be able
(33:29):
to say I want this trade, so therefore you're trading me? Correct?
There you go? I mean kudos and and round of
applause to Garoppolo and his team because, let me tell
you something played play is playing out masterfully for him
in this scenario. Trade lance s is the bid. You
(33:53):
got quarterbacks that don't look that good around the league,
and then you get one that goes on and he's
going to be out for eight weeks, seven eight weeks
that's a long as time and that's a enough time
to throw away a season, a season to go away.
So there you go. Yeah, two months down the drain.
Kyle Shanahan, the head coach of the forty Niners, spoke
about the performance yesterday. You look at those twelve penalties,
(34:15):
you know when they happen. You look at our turnovers,
you look one of three in the red zone on
those missed opportunities. UM, I don't care what happens you You
You see down the statuet and we know what happened
out there. So there isn't a shock. I mean, we
expect to go into games and win no matter what
game it is. Um, we used always feel that way
throughout the week preparing, but we gotta play a lot
better and do things right. So when it comes to
(34:39):
the situation at quarterback, do you feel like the only
the only reason that we're even having a discussion about
would they be better off putting Jimmy Garoppolo in the
starting lineup or putting Jimmy Garoppolo in that game yesterday,
is because Jimmy Garoppolo is still on the roster. And
this is one of the problems you can win with him,
(34:59):
but like, is that's a problem, But isn't it a
problem for tray Lance though? The fact that he's got
to be looking over his shoulder like this because the guy,
because guy, I know, But the fact that he's still there,
if he's your guy, walk away from everything in the
past and let him be the guy moving forward. The
fact we're one game in and we weren'ty even through
that game, and it was a torrential downpour. There were
(35:21):
puddles everywhere, the weather got worse and worse. You know,
It's not like he was the only guy, you know,
turning the ball over playing poorly, as Kyle Shannah and
pointed out. And the big takeaway afterwards is, well, maybe
they want to hold onto to Jimmy Garoppolo because maybe
he's going to get some time here. I just it
feels like once you brought him back, you kind of
made this situation more difficult for tray Lance. And I
(35:43):
know he's a professional, and I know that you're you're
in the league, but it just feels like, I don't
know if it was unnecessary, but you've put him in
a tough spot that he's that these questions are even
happening right here after one game, one game for the season.
I mean I blame the blame the Bears organastion for
stand of Soldier Field. I mean, gets Arlington Heights and
build a stadium that drainage or maybe a dome you
(36:06):
can actually read Super Bowl. I mean I was sitting
there watching you going we we we look at the
like artificial field turf fields, and they'll walk around before
the game, like taking this instrument that actually like jams
into the turf to measure how soft it is, because
obviously they don't want the turf to be too hard,
(36:27):
otherwise it would be deemed unsafe, right, and so they'd
go to those lengths to make sure, like the field
turf fields are appropriate for professional play. Yet we watch
that puddle of whatever the heck field that was yesterday,
and we think that's safe for athletes to plan where
they're like they're running planning on slipping side. I mean,
(36:48):
I don't know, man, I get it. There's like an
old school part of me. That's all. It's fun, right,
you're playing football in the rain and all that, But
I don't want the field and the weather conditions to
be able to impact a game that much. Like that
changed how either of those teams could play, and probably
a lot of times again it wasn't safe for some
of those guys with their footing and potentially causing injuries. Um,
(37:10):
but just get a new field. Can you get a
better field at this point? But they when they had
the preseason game and just there was basically sand on
the field because it was so poorly looked after it like,
I don't worry, We're gonna get fixed and everything's gonna
be good to go before week one. And then a
week later, Ramstin had a concert there, the band Ramstein,
and they were yeah, listen, good band, all right, listen
(37:33):
a couple of you know, their best album doesn't get
talked about a lot, but you know we can break
that down. I mean, anytime you want, we can go
in that direction. I've seen Ramstein live. They're fantastic. But
they put on a concert there, and then the Bears
come out and say, don't worry about it. We're gonna
put this new Bermuda turf in for for week one
and it's gonna be ready to go. Yeah, but Bermuda
(37:53):
turf um yesterday didn't seem like it much difference like
it didn't. Uh, We're an agriculture school, so it takes
on a new meaning for us. I mean we have
like fifty fields of sample bermuda turf that that we
work with and grow because you know, I, like I said,
we're we're an agricultural school, agriculture in Arrington. You know
(38:17):
what is that go together? Saying? What is that you're saying?
I mean it does go together because you know Stick
City is there as well. You know, place a place,
a place there you go and they have bermuda turf
there we are, Yeah, Stick City are right? Just you
and Berta though here you go, not me, not Brady
(38:38):
and nobody else. What do you mean just you and Berta?
Why do you say that? Because of the ribs? But
you're still actually understood where LaVar was coming from the
fifth So you can go it. Don't put me on
your team on this kind of an innocent bystanders. Can't
you us up? Come on, you can back you up.
You don't eat food, dude, I would eat it later on,
and then I didn't Lee would eat anything. You know,
(39:01):
this is disrespect. I wanted to bring enough for all
of you, but there wasn't enough for all of you.
So in my mind, I was like, do I just
leave this half a slab here? Or do I take it?
You take it into Roberto exactly what you did. Roberto,
who is a fine, you know, connoisseur of foods. Let
him be the one that has delivered me his own dish.
(39:22):
That's right. He'st ever done that, at least probably give
you a Tak's ever brought me any food? First of all,
can we talk about the lie being told on the
air by Brado? Definitely haven't brought anything Brady. Jonas has
brought him food before, has he? He didn't make it?
My brother, my brother, and they were fire too. I mean,
what do you want you want? He's brought in strawberries
(39:43):
and I right, chicken. I was making the moment I
got home from that show, we were making strawberry Margarita's. Man.
I tell you what chicken you got hammered that it
was a Friday. It wasn't. Have you heard about Jonas
is guacamo. It's called daddy's nuck. What is it called?
(40:05):
You ever tried from? So good it'll make it'll make
you rethink who your daddy is. It's so good. I'm
trying to make you rethink the type of block I
want you come, just want to be good, like this
is good guac over the game you went to the
football game. Then you realize you your question who your
(40:26):
dad is? Because Jonas is looking at Jonas like, are
you my dad? You honestly like, no, I don't want
to come to Mexico. All of a sudden, your family
tree looks a little bit different. Man. I hit the
button on that. What do you mean that I hit
the button on that? Hold on, can we hit the
button on the bar saying that there's well, there's a
clear difference between Lee and Bert. Oh, we know what
you meant by that when you said yeah, I said
(40:47):
we gott I said we gotta look out for each other.
I mean, if you know Lee, you know it's furthest
thing from the truth. Okay, that is the truth. If
we were going by you know that standard definitely would
have gone to leave, would have got it. But that's
Lee Roy. I'm a bad Lee Roy, the lap not
(41:10):
lead the lab. I mean, have you ever brought in
LaVar food? Not yet? No, I have not, but I do.
I did enjoy some home cooking last night. But but
Lee honestly, Hold on, hold on, Lee, would you eat
over the weekend? Exclude the home cooked meal? We'll exclude
the home cooked meal, yes, because obviously that's it was
so disappointed, It was so disappointed. What else did you
(41:33):
eat this weekend? Lee? Uh? I did have some fast
food from where whack Arnolds? What whack Arnolds? See it
made home reps? Wait? What do you sound after? What
is whack Arnold MacDonald's what I come home? That's cute? Yeah,
(41:59):
only the most successful fast food franchise in the world.
But no big deal. Whack Arnolds? Say? Whoa what? What
did his rep sound like? In the bathroom? Jone nts?
So you got some whack Artolds and bagels. I had
some homemade curry. I had a lot of good stuff
(42:22):
made curry, chicken curry, chicken curry. You make it yourself, No,
of course not. That's what I'm saying. What wasn't home cooked? Wait?
What else that wasn't home cooked? What did you eat
this weekend? I'm telling you what I had? That was it?
Some some locks and bagels, some some some curry. I
helped a little bit on that. Yeah, he does. Lea
(42:43):
gets around when it comes to I made some pizza.
I made homemade pizza. I'll say this is that, this
is this is a Sunday meal. This after Lee's been
out drinking all Friday Saturday. I want to know what
he ate those nights. Yeah, oh, taco taco stand on
the street. How many uh for store? Yeah, good for you?
(43:06):
The cheese or was it already? Was it off the
schwarma or no, yeah, no it wasn't. Garbage Angels was closed.
This weekend's burno is if it's not, it's not on
this spindle. And yeah it doesn't count. Yeah, yeah, good
for you. Roberto. You're only proven that, you're only proving
(43:26):
my point more about there's no reason to share food
with like Jonas ain't gonna eat it, at least not
gonna appreciate it. Like by the way, burns and pain.
