Today on the Best of 2 Pros and a Cup of Joe, Jonas Knox, Brady Quinn, and LaVar Arrington kick things off by recapping the Week 12 Monday night NFL matchup, where the 49ers defeated the Panthers. They also dive into the important question: would you rather get spit on or take a nut shot? The guys break down Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase’s public apology in another edition of “In Case You Missed It.” Next, they look at Browns QB Shedeur Sanders being named the starter by head coach Kevin Stefanski, and they react to the implications this move could have on the team and Stefanski’s job security. Speaker 4 (01:05):
Hi?

Speaker 3 (01:07):
You guys?

Speaker 5 (01:08):
How are you feeling?

Speaker 3 (01:09):
I'm great, man, Nothing like a little mediocre football on
a Monday night, you know, little mediocre performances all the way.

Speaker 6 (01:17):
Defense defense?

Speaker 5 (01:19):
Oh yeah, ye was? It kind of felt like bad.

Speaker 7 (01:24):
Offense, bad offense, but it was still bad offense to me,
equals good defense. If you had bad offense, it was
because well maybe for once the side shows, the side
show Bob's had an opportunity to to steal the show
from you. Spoiled ass pamper brats on the offense side

(01:46):
of the ball threw five picks. It wasn't good.

Speaker 6 (01:48):
Yeah, yeah, that's that's called defense. It's called defense.

Speaker 5 (01:53):
There's there's times where there's good defense.

Speaker 8 (01:56):
You know, when you recognize, like, all right, that was
a good play, I made a good stop at all
that that.

Speaker 5 (02:01):
Was not that last night was bad offensive football.

Speaker 7 (02:04):
Your opinion. My opinion is it was a great great defense.
Defense prevailed last night over the snobs. And you know
what I'm going to stick with that. My man Jai
Air got got into the action. He got his hands
on a ball, you know.

Speaker 6 (02:22):
For him.

Speaker 7 (02:22):
Yeah, ye, shots out the Jaiyir Brown baby who played
some defense, defense, baby defense.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Yeah you want to hear. Kyle Shanahan afterwards talked about
the interceptions thrown by Brock Purty because he was serving
him up last night, and he gave his opinion defense
from last night just.

Speaker 5 (02:50):
Had three throws. He'd love to take back.

Speaker 9 (02:52):
There are all three good decisions, just a hair laid
on them. And when you're a hair laid on stuff,
you can't throw behind him. And he threw it behind him,
and all three guys made him pay. There's no narrative
to the late throw. You're just a little late. And
when you do, which people related a lot, you just
can't throw behind him when you are. You had to
put it in front of him, and he had a
little behind him on all three and all three of
those corners.

Speaker 5 (03:11):
Made him pay.

Speaker 9 (03:11):
You got to think about all of them, why it's happening.
You know, it makes me a lot more hesitant if
they're all bad decisions and stuff. But he was seeing
it right. They're all really good decisions. You just missed
the throw on them. So you know, I think it's
it's a lot worse when you feel like he's not
making the right.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Decisions missing throws. You know, there you go, Yeah, it.

Speaker 5 (03:28):
Sounds a good offensive football and missing throws.

Speaker 6 (03:32):
There's a lot of truth.

Speaker 7 (03:33):
So funny, you know, there there could be truth to
to what he's saying. But he also gave credit to
the corners in the secondary making.

Speaker 8 (03:42):
Yeah, except the gift, what I got right in their
bread basket, right right. The reality is, I mean there's
a timing element of most offenses, and when you are late,
like you just the one spot you can't throw is
you can't like especially outbreaking routes, you can't put it
behind him if you put it behind because think about it,

(04:02):
every defensive player is reactionary. You know, they're reacting in
particular dbs to what the route that's being run by
the wide receiver. So you put it, you're basically throwing
it to a spot where the receiver was now where
the dB is, and that's you know again, it's a
recipe for disaster. I thought, pretty last night, he just

(04:22):
seemed like he was still out of sync, out of rhythm.
Like watching him last night, I thought, I didn't think
when he initially came back, the time off hurt him.
Last night, I thought the time off hurt him.

Speaker 7 (04:36):
Yeah, I thought George Kittle looked good. I say that,
I mean he he did pretty good. I mean c
Mac looked Okay, you know, it wasn't a you know,
it wasn't a great, great, great day, but I mean
he looked pretty good and he was effective.

Speaker 5 (04:56):
One hundred and forty scrimmage yards.

Speaker 7 (04:59):
Yeah, well he didn't break a hundred Russian though. I
mean yeah, overall, yeah, totally led the way without him,
They're nothing.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
All.

Speaker 7 (05:09):
Yeah, it was okay, it's okay. Effort, it's okay. I'm
not going to give it a great day. It was,
it was good, it was a good day. It was productive. Uh,
but Carolina just has no offense. Like their offense is very,
very anemic, And you don't have to have a great
day out there if Carolina's offense is going to be

(05:32):
so inept at what it is that they're doing. And
I think that that was to me the bigger story
of the day or of the evening is against a
depleted San Francisco defense, Carolina's offense couldn't give you more
than what it was that they could give you in
that game. And granted they were on the road, I
get that, but I thought that was pretty telling. Even

(05:56):
though we've seen in you know, weeks past, Carolina can
be a competitive team. They can be a team that
can get after it and win win games. They play
pretty good defense. They gave their team an opportunity to
on offense give them more to try to win the game.
And that's not what happened. And I felt like that

(06:18):
was more of the storyline here, you know, is that Carolina,
how do you not have more to offer in a
game like that where you have two future Hall of
famers out in Bosa and Warner? How does that happen?
Like to me, I felt like that was the bigger question.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
Been kind of Bryce Young's struggles that have I guess
people are gonna point to the most. I mean, Timac
had some drops that didn't look you know, that wasn't
a great performance by him. And I kind of felt
bad for Carolina in that spot because I don't remember
the last time they've been featured on a Monday night
game where there were some positive vibes around the organization

(06:59):
that they had kind of turned the corner, and then
you come out and it was just lackluster. It just
seemed like and for those of you that had Carolina
plus seven and a half, apologies. You know, they gave
a little bit of a go there after the McMillan touchdown,
but unfortunately come up short on that missfield goal by
a wide margin. And next thing you know, you're staring

(07:20):
up at Tampa Bay still leading that division, even though
Tampa Bay is really as well too, So it's just
your typical NFC South performance.

Speaker 8 (07:27):
It felt like for me, well, they also have been
riding this wave almost the entire season. I mean, go
through the last I don't know what's six weeks.

Speaker 5 (07:35):
It's a win loss, win, lass wind Law.

Speaker 8 (07:37):
I mean, that's just how they've been playing offensively, though,
I think you look at their passing attack. I've said
this when I did the broadcast. I'll say this now
every time I watch them, there's just nothing else besides
Teneroa McMillan. When they're not running the football, they just
they don't have anything else they can lean on.

Speaker 5 (07:59):
And it's it's tough when.

Speaker 8 (08:00):
You were an offense and you're trying to draw things
up for guys because it is a game of playmakers,
and if you don't have a bunch of those playmakers.
I mean, Jalen Coker is starting to emerge as one
of their other guys that they're kind of trying to
lean on. Right now, can you tell me where he's from?

Speaker 5 (08:19):
LeVar?

Speaker 8 (08:19):
Do you know Jalen Coker's backstory? Like most people don't.
Most people have no idea like where he came from?
He's a Holy Cross kid from Holy Cross, So like
you look at that and you go all right, like
this is this is just gonna be tough to be
able to get this offense going. I just that's that's

(08:42):
my biggest issue is when when everyone wants to be
critical of.

Speaker 5 (08:44):
Bryce Young and what he is and what he isn't
like I go back and say, well, he's got the capability, Like.

Speaker 8 (08:49):
You see the touchdown throw to Tederoe McMillan and you go, Okay,
he can push the ball downfield.

Speaker 5 (08:54):
They just don't have any when they've been able to
get going.

Speaker 8 (08:57):
To stretch the field, like Jimmy Horn Junior's got it
on a speed, they just haven't.

Speaker 5 (09:02):
Been able to get him in the you know, in
the offense as much.

Speaker 8 (09:06):
So to me, like I'm a little bit of a
loss because I don't know how you change it outside
of continuing to build out around him to give him more.

Speaker 5 (09:15):
Of bringing Jimmy Horne Junior along.

Speaker 8 (09:17):
But like Xavier Legatt has not become this splip to
the player they thought he was going to become.

Speaker 5 (09:23):
You know, I thought, right now.

Speaker 8 (09:24):
They would think they have two big, physical, number one
wide receivers and unfortunately right now. Tedron mcmonillan as a
rookie is the only one who's really kind of emerged
as that guy.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
If you put Bryce Young in the Shannhan system, if
you swapped quarterbacks, what sort of results are we looking like?
Like I said, how much of a difference would there
be between Brockberty and Bryce Young.

Speaker 8 (09:49):
I don't know if there's a huge difference either way.
It's not like pretty slight, light the world on fire.
You know, they're in a very similar situation. You know,
outside of mcaffe you're doing everything you can get the
ball to, Like who scares you a receiver for them,
Like Kill obviously is a really impactful tight end. But
Juwan Jennings, I mean he's taking nuts shots last night
with Kan Moore.

Speaker 6 (10:08):
Yeah he did.

Speaker 8 (10:09):
You know Ricky Pearce all is a first round pick
that's still trying to become that. But like you go
through both rosters and you see why it's a low scoring,
quote unquote defensive game. Neither of these offenses have much
of a second act besides let's try to run the football.
Let's get the football tour running back, and we've got
some compliment. He plays off of that to Juwan Jennings.

Speaker 5 (10:30):
Te Aron McMillan, or name your other piece in the offense. Yeah,
but that's really like what they are.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
And the Brandon Ayuk contract has been a disaster and
now they're you know, they're gonna avoid his guarantees for
next year and they're just gonna cut ties with him.
So whatever the hell that was, and that decision to
give him that money, he got hurt early on in
the contract. Apparently he's not showing up to team meetings
and missing a bunch of stuff. They expected him back
on the field by now, and so we're just gonna

(10:59):
up and vanish like a fart in the wind when
it comes to his time with the Niners. So it's
fun stuff for the Niners passing attack. You mentioned the
nut shot, by the way, Juwan Jennings responding to that
nut shot that he received by Trayvon Marrek. Kyle Shanahan
talked about how proud he was of Juwan Jennings waiting

(11:20):
until after the game in order to respond would have.

Speaker 5 (11:23):
Him to Juan in the last series.

Speaker 9 (11:26):
Yeah, the guy took a cheap shot and hit him
in the balls. And he's a real proud of Juwan
for now losing his mind out there and get him
to the sideline.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
So we've got a jamar Chase spitting on guys. We
got guys taking nutshots. What's going on? We just at
that time of the year, tell.

Speaker 8 (11:44):
Me what's happening, var because I'm sure you either got
hit the nuts or you hit some of the nuts.

Speaker 7 (11:49):
Well of told I've never done like anything like that.
Told you it's more palle up driven with me.

Speaker 10 (11:56):
This would be a great would you rather?

Speaker 7 (11:59):
Would you rather get spit on or nutshot? I'd take
the nut shot, and I don't. I don't want to
get spit on.

Speaker 8 (12:07):
But no, it's so painful that for that short amount
of time, that's it is experience.

Speaker 7 (12:13):
But I think the feeling of getting sped on.

Speaker 5 (12:18):
I'll be honest. I'll be honest.

Speaker 8 (12:21):
I worked for both. Mark was talking last Saturday on
our show. He was, you know, doing a spiel whatever
he was talking about, and at one point I was
like a lot of boys shot, Okay, I feel like
I just got to spit on.

Speaker 5 (12:33):
You know. I didn't say anything to react to it.
I had to just stand strong through it. But he had.
I'm just telling you, it.

Speaker 7 (12:42):
Feels so and that wasn't even a hawk two week
that was just probably exactly talking and the spit from
his mom saying the words that he was sample.

Speaker 8 (12:52):
Exactly right. And I was thinking if I felt it,
he was probably like big enough for maybe you could
caught on camera. Yeah, So then I'm like, I like,
do I react to I not react? I just gotta
not react, right, I mean, how do the sunlight it
hit at the right angle, probably could look like a.

Speaker 7 (13:11):
Yeah, I'm proud of you for not reacting, But I
got to tell you, by the time you were able
to get to it and wipe to it, you had
already absorbed it.

Speaker 6 (13:21):
Isn't that disgusting?

Speaker 7 (13:23):
Like I'm just I'm just telling you, I'd rather get
nutshot than get spat on, like and even a casual
I'm talking, and the spit is hitting the in the face.
It's just it's not okay. It is not sanitary. It's
either okay. Yeah, but you're not going to catch nothing
from from getting punched in the balls. Like there's there's

(13:46):
the possibility you could get a growth. You could get
a growth on your face, you know what I mean, Like,
you don't know what his mouths been doing.

Speaker 6 (13:54):
You know what I mean. Yeah, growth.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
Wait, so you think you think a little spit in
the midst of a conversation would result in some sort
of a growth.

Speaker 7 (14:03):
You just never know, man, I don't. I don't put
anything past anything or anyone. I mean, what sort of
bodily fluids?

Speaker 6 (14:11):
Man, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
Yes, we got like gremlin saliva, like they just sort
of multi br and.

Speaker 7 (14:17):
You just you just never know. Don't act like it
can't happen. It's always it couldn't happen until it happens.

Speaker 6 (14:26):
And if it were me.

Speaker 7 (14:28):
I would have wipe my face off and been like, hey, Mark,
say it player. I want the news and not the
weather today to day for precipitation.

Speaker 6 (14:38):
Bruh.

Speaker 5 (14:39):
You can't interrupt someone like that in the middle of it.
But I get to understand. My thing is, oh gosh, okay.
Here's the other part of the question is what's your reaction?

Speaker 8 (14:49):
Are you more apt to fight in both circumstances, because
after a nutshot, if it's really good, you're probably down
for a little bit.

Speaker 5 (14:56):
Yeah, so your immedia reaction can't really be to fight
someone like as much as.

Speaker 8 (15:00):
Kyle Shanahan wanted to be like, oh you know, I'm
glad he lose his mind out there. It's like, dude,
you hit the nuts. It's a good thirties.

Speaker 6 (15:07):
Yeah second pause youa yeah.

Speaker 5 (15:10):
You're not gonna You're not gonna do anything anyway.

Speaker 6 (15:12):
You know it's gonna pause you. I gotta say.

Speaker 7 (15:18):
Even the approach after the game was kind of feeble though.
You know, don't work, you know, don't don't don't wait
to work if the work is going to look like
that when you get to going, like like, you got
to get after it.

Speaker 6 (15:34):
You got to make that man pay for what.

Speaker 7 (15:36):
It is that he did and what it it didn't
like didn look like that looked like he got a
hold of dude.

Speaker 6 (15:42):
Dude was like, man, get out of here. I ain't
doing nothing.

Speaker 7 (15:45):
And then his teammate, you know, yokes yokes him up
and like pushes him off and like looks at him like, hey, man,
don't bring that over here. You get slapped out doing
stuff like that around here around these parts, you know
what I mean, Like you can't be an aggressive of
getting a nut shot and then you get punked to
top of it, like no, that can't be it. You

(16:07):
got to you got to do some Andre Johnson type
action on your boy in the secondary start dropping bombs.
Don't go up there like that man to all y'all
out there. I don't condone balance, I don't condone fighting.
But if you are meeting somebody after the game for
something that they did to this level of this capacity,

(16:28):
like spitting on you or punching you in your nuts.

Speaker 6 (16:31):
You make it count.

Speaker 7 (16:33):
Don't don't get a second al Don't don't take that
second al man for the sake of trying to redeem
the first one. Like it's not good math, it's not
good arithmetic, guys, just keep that in mind.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
Tell you what it is good home depot because you
can get tools that perform at the highest level on
every job without compromise. When you shop Makita at the
home depot and the job calls for the best call
on Makida built to be the best available at the
home depot, how get more done?

Speaker 5 (17:01):
You got Jangles playoff we believe in San Francisco. Say,
I mean they're an eight and four knowing the way
to be a playoff team.

Speaker 6 (17:10):
Fools go good.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
Good record though some categories the Jags, we're good.

Speaker 6 (17:16):
It's a good record though.

Speaker 8 (17:19):
If you look at their schedule the rest of the way,
they are getting at least two more wins.

Speaker 5 (17:26):
They're gonna get the ten they've got.

Speaker 8 (17:28):
They're playing in Cleveland, Tennessee at Indy Chicago.

Speaker 7 (17:32):
It ain't gonna be an easy win now that Shador
Sanders is out there.

Speaker 5 (17:36):
Oh hell yeah, play the music right now, that's.

Speaker 7 (17:39):
Right, hey man, though they'll use Cleveland as a punchline
these days.

Speaker 6 (17:43):
Man, you know, is that up out of the garage
now playoff? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (17:51):
He only needed one week of practice.

Speaker 6 (17:53):
Getting that work. What's your door? Perfect time? It's a
perfect timing, y'all.

Speaker 7 (18:00):
Yeah, yes, really are gonna be Yeah, that's unfortunate.

Speaker 5 (18:09):
I mean they're gonna be the ten wins.

Speaker 6 (18:10):
I know that.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
Yeah, that is unfortunate.

Speaker 5 (18:13):
Take any two of their next five. That's they're gonna
win two more. They get the ten and ten and seven.
I think that gets them in.

Speaker 3 (18:20):
Right Yeah, yeah, I mean, well they listen, we'll get
to see brock Purty.

Speaker 6 (18:25):
And uh their fools more more.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
Mediocre play in the postseason.

Speaker 6 (18:29):
Apparently, don't bet on that.

Speaker 7 (18:31):
Stop sell that stock, sell that stock.

Speaker 5 (18:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
The Niners are a minus seven hundred on DraftKings to
make the playoffs, so just go ahead and slot them
in now. Yeah, it's you.

Speaker 7 (18:47):
Will make the playoffs. They're just going and get belt
the ass by somebody.

Speaker 6 (18:53):
Yeah. Probably I want to see it first round too.

Speaker 8 (18:56):

isn't Sinatra. Sorry, he's too classy.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
For a dive bar bellied up middle of the day.

Speaker 7 (22:28):
They'll play this in a hood ratchet spot. I mean
it just just to do how you take it? Really, Yeah, it's.

Speaker 5 (22:35):
Remix just this this song, just like this.

Speaker 6 (22:41):
Go to be remix.

Speaker 5 (22:43):
Wa.

Speaker 7 (22:43):
I don't know, yeah, no, no, no hood y.

Speaker 6 (22:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (22:51):
I didn't call it a hood ratchet place.

Speaker 6 (22:53):
I mean it could be a ratchet.

Speaker 7 (22:55):
You could be in a strict club and when it's
time to get out, you don't don't have to go home,
but you got to get the hell out of here.

Speaker 6 (23:03):
They'll pay. They'll play that.

Speaker 8 (23:04):
This song that was never our closing song though, or
like last call song.

Speaker 6 (23:11):
Yeah, this one was this one? Was it? Like the
lights go all for you guys, time to go? I mean,
we put it on. So let me know because I'm
going right back to sleep. I gotta go late, right

Speaker 6 (23:43):

with that.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
Before we get to that and.

Speaker 7 (23:48):
After they're registered and sunk in, we could have we
could have went in a lot of different direct We
could have had a little fun with that one.

Speaker 6 (23:55):

Guys? What up? Thanks for having me. Happy Thanksgiving weeks
to be here with you, guys.

Speaker 12 (24:38):
I'll be here tomorrow too, so we'll have some fun
the next two days. Hello, Loraina. I feel like I
never say hi tole Lorraina on the air.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
No one does Hi, Lorena.

Speaker 12 (24:46):
Let's get right into this, guys.

Speaker 6 (24:49):
Than the music. This is music the man.

Speaker 12 (24:54):
You guys were talking about this a little bit earlier.
Jamar Chase addresses his sp heading allegations on Instagram. Quote
to my team, fans, the Bengals organization, the Steelers organization,
and the NFL community. You guys please know I'm speaking
from my heart when I say I take full responsibility

(25:16):
for my actions during last Sunday's game of Pittsburgh. What
I did was wrong. The circumstances don't matter. My passion
for the game is no excuse. There's zero place in
our sport or in our life for that level of disrespect.
I want to personally apologize to everyone within the Pittsburgh
Steelers organization. I let my motions in the moment get

(25:38):
the better of me. I can only hope and trust
you know none of it represents who I am not
as a competitor, teammate, or person. He goes on to
apologize to his coach's teammates everyone else. He says it's
a tough season, incredibly hard losses, and he's been frustrated.
Finally he apologizes to his fans and he committed to

(26:00):
earning back your respect.

Speaker 3 (26:02):
Guys, was this enough?

Speaker 6 (26:04):
I mean he didn't he deny it at first?

Speaker 10 (26:08):
Yeah, yeah he did.

Speaker 5 (26:11):
I kind of feel like I.

Speaker 6 (26:12):
Already to know. Yeah, I'm over it.

Speaker 7 (26:14):
I could care less about his apology if he would have,
if he would have stood on business to begin with, Like, bro,
know this, when you do stuff like that, don't deny it.
Because the camera angles and technology is so advanced, is
so good, Bro, they can see the sweat coming down
your face, let alone coming out of your mouth and
going on to somebody else. Like, if he would have

(26:36):
owned it from the jump and listen, you get an
opportunity to repent, Like, all right, I see the wrong
in what I did. I just felt like the way
he kind of addressed it to begin with, I didn't.
You know, I don't know how sincere that that apology is.

Speaker 3 (26:50):
I'd almost have more respect for him if you said, yeah,
I'm not sorry, I did it. It's been a bad season.
I'm frustrated we can't figure. Yeah, I hate the Steelers
and Ramsey's taking cheap shots all the time, and if
I if I need to get some retaliation in, I'm
going to get it in. I'm sorry. I'm not gonna
apologize for it. I almost would have respected that more.
That was a little too.

Speaker 7 (27:10):
Get I'm going get mad. Yeah, you know, Yeah, I'm
with you, Jonah, Yeah, with jawing.

Speaker 3 (27:17):
Oh what else you gut Shay?

Speaker 12 (27:18):
In other news, this could be good news. Most people
say it would be. We're staying with the Bengals. Joe
Burrow is expected to return. Zach Taylor said he it's
looking good for the quarterback, although Jovih Flacco has been
doing a great job. Joe Burrow is set to probably
start this weekend.

Speaker 6 (27:34):
How do you guys feel?

Speaker 3 (27:35):
What about Trey Hendrickson? Trey Hendrickson going to be back
at any point or still dealing with a hip issue.
Bengals are a seven point underdog at Baltimore coming up
on Thanksgiving Night.

Speaker 8 (27:48):
So I'm tell you by the way, Flacco thrown for
over two hundred and seventy yards a game.

Speaker 5 (27:53):
He's got thirteen touchdowns to four interceptions on the season.
He's played as.

Speaker 8 (27:58):
Well as you could imagine for someone who literally got
traded there during the season.

Speaker 5 (28:02):
I mean, it's been pretty darn phenomenal.

Speaker 8 (28:04):
How about this taking less sacks, you know, and then
Burrow does when he's in there, so he's played at
a high level. Their offense has not been the issue.
This is a defensive issue for the Pangos this year.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
Yeah, I'm not gonna get fixed anytime soon.

Speaker 6 (28:22):
What you got, var, I got nothing.

Speaker 4 (28:27):

switch up to another one. So I'm gonna just leave it.
Let it breathe. I'm gonna let it breathe. If we're
sticking to the script, you know what I mean. I'm
gonna just let it breathe.

Speaker 3 (29:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (29:52):
So, yeah, welcome tour two man.

Speaker 3 (29:56):
Well you mentioned it earlier.

Speaker 6 (29:58):
It's big news.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
His big news. Kevin Stefanski to the Cleveland take it Away.
Who's going to be your starter this weekend? Come on, cav.

Speaker 6 (30:13):
Hey, do I want to tell you? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (30:14):
He's going to Uh, hey, I don't want to tell you.
We are we are efforting.

Speaker 6 (30:20):
Are you sure we're connecting? Has he come to the
podium yet?

Speaker 3 (30:23):
We're connecting? We're connecting here he is, coach. He is
so nervous about the announcement your door will start this week.
Number one job of quarterback is to win. So excited
to get that first win under his belt. And then
next thing is improvement and that's what young players do,
certainly young quarterbacks. Do you get one game better and

(30:44):
that's just from working at it. So that'll be our focus.
Check your risk, player, check your risk.

Speaker 6 (30:52):
What did they say?

Speaker 7 (30:53):
Didn't they say Buddy Dylan would be the starter when
he got cleared and came back. It just wasn't best
timing for Dylan the time in for your door. It's
it's time.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
It's eleven for twenty against the Raiders. When ain't got
that new Ohio State.

Speaker 5 (31:13):
You get a touchdown pass on a stream.

Speaker 6 (31:17):
Hell yeah, y'all say what y'all want?

Speaker 7 (31:20):
Let him get this when let him get this dubbed
this week when they put him back in? Yeah, that
perfect timing the door Sanders there, baby Stefanski going save
it's job?

Speaker 6 (31:34):
Who Stefanski? Chador? Baby? Let's go Miles Garrett, you gotta
you gotta deepense. Did you see Miles Garrett's face drop
to the floor, which.

Speaker 5 (31:44):
We act the reaction off the floor.

Speaker 6 (31:48):
I believe. I'm a believer. It's perfect timon.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
Are you guys surprised?

Speaker 10 (31:55):
I really do this bitch, are you Are.

Speaker 3 (31:58):
You surprised that that Shador stay as the starter? I'm not.
At this point, what do you have to lose?

Speaker 5 (32:06):
Yeah, you've seen enough of Dylan Gabriel to have an idea.

Speaker 8 (32:09):
You want to see more from Shador and you know,
Sue he looks like and it's one way or another,
either to prove him right or to prove him wrong
with all the crap he's been saying.

Speaker 5 (32:19):
But either way, like, this is to.

Speaker 8 (32:22):
Me more about finding out what you have in your
roster as you're a team that's looking for to twenty
twenty six.

Speaker 7 (32:28):
Yeah, I feel like it's self preservation time. When you're
a team like the Cleveland Browns, everybody has to go
into self preservation mode.

Speaker 6 (32:40):
It just is what it is. I mean, that's what
all the bad teams do.

Speaker 7 (32:44):
And there's no exception here for anyone that's involved in
this scenario, and self preservation says, you have to play
Shador Sanders in this scenario for the simple fact that
if he does continue to find a way to win,
then the self preservation, again for the coaching staff, becomes

(33:07):
more legitimized. I think I think Kevin Stefanski's job hangs
in the balance of if the timing is perfect for
Shador Sanders to be playing as the starting quarterback for this.

Speaker 3 (33:19):
Team, you think Kevin Stefanski's using to save his job.

Speaker 7 (33:24):
Using is a strong way, that wouldn't be the right way.

Speaker 6 (33:29):
That's how you put positioning it. Not using.

Speaker 7 (33:32):
I look at it as Shador Sanders' success could legitimize
him maintaining his job.

Speaker 6 (33:40):
Not using him.

Speaker 7 (33:41):
I mean, I guess if you're going to say he's
playing him, but I don't think he he didn't put
him in and bench Dylan Gabriel. To me, using him,
is you benched Dylan. You put Shador in because you're
trying to save your job. Shador went in because of
an injury, and Shador didn't win that game, but came
back and played out of necessity and won the game

(34:03):
that he played out of necessity due to injury. Now
that the injury is cleared and he's continuing on with Shador,
that says to me, that's a signal that it's self preservation.
If you can get on a winning streak down this stretch,
you could save your job. If you believe that Shador
Sanders is the way to get to that preservation of

(34:25):
your job. That's why you're playing Shador Sanders. Otherwise you
would be playing Dylan Gabriel. If you felt Dylan Gabriel,
what's that player to preserve your job, Dylan Gabriel would
have been named back as the starter now that he
was cleared from concussion protocol self preservation. So if you
want to call it using Shador, I don't see it

(34:46):
as using Shador. I feel like Shador gave them a
spark and gave them a little bit of excitement. You
saw the hope, the way they kind of positioned it
with the way they showed the content of the games.

Speaker 8 (34:59):
Yeah, that's for the media though, Like, yeah, no one
gives it. No one gives a crap in the locker
room unless they're helping him win, you know, and he
made enough.

Speaker 6 (35:10):
But what yeah, he's helping them win.

Speaker 5 (35:12):
Me he wouldn't.

Speaker 8 (35:13):
He did good end of this past game to win.
If you look into the stats and analytics, there's a
lot of skepticism because he's the fifth lowest graded quarterback
of the entire.

Speaker 5 (35:24):
Season off of what he's done so far.

Speaker 6 (35:25):
Damn.

Speaker 5 (35:26):
Now, that doesn't mean that he won't get better.

Speaker 8 (35:28):
You know, when you look at that list of players
Quinn you or as Jelen Milroe, guys who are also rookies,
Riley Leonard Notre Dame like the also rookies, short small
sample size, So as he plays, I assume he will
get better. But let's let's not overreact too much to it.
But I do think it's it's good for the Browns
to see what they have in him. They drafted him.

(35:49):
Let the guy play, you know, see what you've got.
He made some nice plays, buying time, getting outside the
pocket to make big throws down the field. And I
thought their coaching staff, contrary to what social media will
tell you out there, set him up to succeed. If
you watched the film, you would see that for the
most part, it was either screens to get the ball

(36:10):
out of his hand quick or they use seven man
protections where they didn't have to worry too much about
trying to worry about him figuring out the protection everything else.
Block them all up, let him take chunks and shots downfield,
and if it's not there, dumb it down.

Speaker 5 (36:27):
He can do those sorts of things. So I thought
their coaching.

Speaker 8 (36:29):
Staff did a good job too, kind of playing to
things that would help protect him but also give him
a chance to succeed, and they were able to do
just that.

Speaker 6 (36:37):
More teams should do that.

Speaker 7 (36:40):
All these sacks you saw Geno Smith seeing ghosts out there.
More teams should do max protection. I'd rather him have
time to throw it to somebody than no time in
getting sacked for the sake of trying to what like,
release too many guys out into the passing round.

Speaker 8 (36:57):
Well, that's the issue is if you got seven guys
in protection and right, you can only have three guys
out in the routes, and so eventually you've got to
allow that running back that's height end or however you
construct it could be two running backs. You have to
allow those guys to release, otherwise they're never gonna have
the impact on the secondary. They need to have to
pull some of those you know, hook curl defenders down

(37:18):
or guys who are responsible for.

Speaker 5 (37:19):
The underneath underneath coverage.

Speaker 8 (37:21):
So if you can't do that, you might find yourself,
you know, throwing some air and balls or throwing footballs away,
which you also saw a little bit from time to
time too. So again it's it's a little more nuanced conversation.
But I thought they did a good job not giving
them too much that was gonna be too difficult, or
putting him in bad spots, which again was the entire

(37:42):
narrative after he came in off the bench as a backup.
And I feel like I was the only one on
the show outside of you know, maybe Jonas who wanted
to point out that that's the life of a backup
of any position.

Speaker 7 (37:54):
So really thought, well, I didn't think he'd ever play,
so I didn't.

Speaker 5 (38:01):
Again, you're watch the Browns more. They played four to
five quarterbacks every season.

Speaker 3 (38:05):
But you wanted him cut.

Speaker 6 (38:08):
I did not want him cut. Earlier in the summer.

Speaker 5 (38:11):
You were actually from cut.

Speaker 6 (38:13):
I did not.

Speaker 5 (38:13):
You changed your tune, but earlier this summer.

Speaker 7 (38:16):
No, No, that's an inaccurate representation of what I said.
I said as a fifth rounder, there would there would.
I would not be surprised if he got cut because
of the they brought in Picket, then they bring in Flacco.
You drafted Dylan Gabriel, and you drafted Shador Sanders. Shador

(38:36):
Sanders being the last one out of all of them.
I thought he might get cut. Was I didn't say
I was calling for him to get cut.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
Was did U did Tyler Huntley also get a get
a cut? I think he was with the Browns for
like a week and a half. Yeah, there's a lot
of guys there with the.

Speaker 7 (38:54):
Brown It was gone by then though, Yeah, but he
was part of the team too, Huntley. Yeah, well I
get that, but I'm saying, but when they brought him in,
Picket was gone by then, right, he was gone about it?

Speaker 6 (39:08):
Yes, it was after Yeah.

Speaker 3 (39:10):
It's hard to keep track of.

Speaker 7 (39:11):
Which would still tell you that there was no real
confidence possibly and all the guys they had on their roster,
like they were still trying to figure out that they
have to have somebody that could jump in there and
play for.

Speaker 6 (39:25):
Them to try to win games.

Speaker 7 (39:26):
I don't think there's a ton of confidence in this
quarterback room, if I'm being honest. Now, how that plays
out and what happens, I don't know, but I would
have thought that they would have gave Picket an opportunity.
Flacco beats him out, okay, but I'm not getting rid
of a guy that I brought in that could compete.

(39:48):
If I go with a guy that could compete for
the starting job, with another guy that can compete for
the starting job, I'm not letting both of them go
because those are the guys that I projected and anticipated
to be the starters for my team. We just had
the conversation about JJ McCarthy in in an Hour one,

(40:09):
which you could get on our podcast.

Speaker 6 (40:11):
By the way, come to Joe.

Speaker 7 (40:12):
Make sure you go wherever it is that you get
your podcasts from search Fox Sports Radio and you can
get a podcaster anyway.

Speaker 6 (40:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (40:21):
I mean, there's nothing wrong with giving rookies, especially late
round draft pick rookies, an opportunity to sit and learn.

Speaker 6 (40:31):
I have no problem with Shador being on the bench.

Speaker 7 (40:34):
I have no problem with Dylan Gabriel being on the
bench getting an opportunity to learn the flow of the game,
the operation of the week, the operation of the game plan,
the dudes that don'ts, all those different things that Jordan
Love had the benefit of being able to get. We
always are often forcing and pressuring these young guys to

(40:57):
be world beaters in a league full of guys that
are there as pros just as well. They're they're pros
to on the other side of the ball, and a
lot of them are are veteran pros. They they understand tendencies,
they understand lineups and and matchups and and and you know,

(41:18):
formations and all kinds of downs and situational football. They
understand that. So to ask a kid, basically a kid
to come in and be able to operate and activate
against these types of units, that's a lot. It's a
daunting task for any of them, whether they have success

(41:38):
or not, it's a daunting task.

Speaker 3 (41:40):
Do you think would it be I don't know if
this would be, you know, kind of disrespectful, But do
you think, you know, with as much of a bad
position as they put shad Or Sanders in throughout his
entire NFL journey thus far, do you think those wretches.

Speaker 6 (41:58):
That's arcaves Well, no, I'm just I want to know.

Speaker 3 (42:00):
Do you think those those wretched sons of bitches at
the NFL could just skeedule the Raiders every week for
the Browns? Like at least if they could do that
much based on all the difficult situations he's been put in,
I think that would make everybody happy. We're trying, we
want to please everybody.

Speaker 6 (42:17):
What's doing right now?

Speaker 3 (42:18):
I just I want him to have a fair ship.

Speaker 5 (42:19):
I'm making fun of the situation. It's hilarious, Like people,
I just it is what it is.

Speaker 3 (42:26):
I just want to see him get the Raiders every week,
the awful Raiders every single week. So we can you know,
celebrate that play perfect timing.

Speaker 7 (42:33):
Yeah, so you don't think he can win this week?

Speaker 3 (42:37):
They got the Niners.

Speaker 6 (42:40):
We check the uh the Niners they just played?

Speaker 3 (42:47):
Are you sticks picking it?

Speaker 7 (42:48):
Are you still.

Speaker 3 (42:54):
They're in Cleveland and the Niners are a six point favorite?

Speaker 6 (42:59):
Yeah? I take take the Browns on this one.

Speaker 12 (43:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (43:06):
Hold you to that too, hold you to that.

Speaker 7 (43:12):
They ain't gonna be able to deal with that defense.
All stra Door gotta do is manage the game. Don't
turn the ball over, manage the game. Let them let
them do time. Yeah, it's perfect time and it's gonna
be a big win, big win for Cleveland.

Speaker 5 (43:30):
Hey.

Speaker 3 (43:30):
You know what though, Actually, let me ask you this, Brady,
do Browns fans give a rip who the quarterback is? Like,
is there's this clamoring for shud Or Sanders over Dylan Gabriel.

Speaker 5 (43:42):
No, they just want to win, you know, they're just
excited that they won.

Speaker 8 (43:46):
You know, if they win this week, he'll be they'll
be behind them excited if they lose they'll be like,
this guy's a bum.

Speaker 5 (43:51):
They want to move on to the next guy. That's
just what it is.

Speaker 7 (43:56):
I know what they do care about. They're hots and listening.
Original Louisiana hot sauce. It's got it, simple ingredients, three
of them. Put them all onto your plate. Turns any
Tuesday into a tail Oh yeah, tailgate Tuesday.

Speaker 6 (44:15):
It is Tuesday, So hey, listen, no.

Speaker 7 (44:17):
Matter what day it is, grabbing to reach original Louisiana
hot sauce and add a little game day to every day.
All right, that's a Louisiana hot sauce. Make sure you're
bat you so hey.

Speaker 3 (44:28):
By the way, Shae is a Browns fan. Shaye you were.
You were at the Raiders Browns game. What was the
buzz like for all number twelve out there?

Speaker 12 (44:36):
So in its history? Man, yeah, we were excited. No, yeah,
there's a lot of Browns fans. So it was funny
because it seemed like everyone was just kind of like, okay,
We're like, we're okay with each other because we both suck.
So everyone was kind of just like celebrating that. And
then it kind of turned into Browns being too hopeful
and seeing the three touchdowns and like being like, oh
my god, it's the door time. So at the table

(44:59):
is after the game everyone. When I was talking to
it was like, yeah, I'm really feeling excited about this,
and I'm just sitting there. I'm like, dude, forty two
quarterbacks since nineteen ninety nine, we were just talking about this, Like,
come on, we've seen this happen all too much before.
Everyone has been great. I'm like RG three was a
starting quarterback at one time for the Browns. Like that's
like it goes back so much to where it's like

(45:19):
there's so many names. Everyone has had hype. It's just
I'm annoyed by it. It's like I was happy to
see a win. Was the first game where I was like,
oh my god, we have the lead. We might actually
