Prep in Jersey. It's a big powerhouse school. So he

don't think the career he was hoping for. Clearly that's
what led him to Illinois and plays well, shows improvement
in Illinois, and then he finds himself into the NFL.

has showcased ability, obviously athleticism.

Tommy DeVito is something that you might be seeing too
from teams that take rookies and have them as as backups, saying,

I mean Sam Harmon for example, coming out of Notre Dame,
he said, sixty starts, it's a lot of experience, and
I know it's a different level, different game, but there's
a lot of intangibles you can take from your experience.

I've played a lot of football.

Like it's just a game. It's how you adapt to

So it to me, I kind of watch it in Gisco.
It's it's awesome. It's a fun storyline. But anyone who's

followed Tommy DeVito from his time from high school knew
of him as one of the topper highly ranked recruits
and knew that he had ability like this, and I'm
sure the Giants did also, Like when these guys are
doing their background on all these kids, they know what
they were coming out of high school and they're recruiting
you know, status and all that, because that's all part
of the due diligence that they do to figure out

is this guy worth it to be able to bring
on our roster even as an undrafted free agent like
he was, and then you see, you know what he's
capable of doing once he gets out there in a
real live game, So kudos to him and all that.

gonna work now with so many kids playing college football
for so long, and maybe he's gonna be an example
for other guys of exhausting all their eligibility in college,

done there at hard Rock Stadium in whatever part of

Basically, they Bills have got the Cowboys. They're at the Chargers,
but they've got the Patriots and it may come down
to that final game of the season at the Dolphins.

in this team is the balance that they have on offense,
and now it's made their defense even more formidable because
their offense puts so much pressure on.

is how different everything is for the coaches, how they
go about recruiting. I think I saw something where, you know,
Army Navy typical recruit about ten thousand kids, and that

Ohio State or Michigan or Penn State Probamly it's like, well, no,

they're not recruiting ten thousand at least not in one class.
These guys are recruiting ten thousand kids in one class
and for every twelve to get one. Like that's the
amount of effort that goes into their recruiting effort as
far as what they're being tasked with doing, the opportunity
that's presented, you know, to them. And so then you
look at these young men out there playing and you're

sitting yourself like they're gonna go defend our country, our
liberties and freedoms and especially in today's world where we
don't know what the future holds. But it's just it's
just football. They're just out there playing a game they love.
There's no nil, there's no transfer portal bs like, it's
just all like they're playing to represent army, to represent

navy or even air force.

Like that's what I love about it. It like takes

The other stuff that's happening right now in college football.
That's so different from you know, when I play, when

these young men's and I understand they're not in the
same position, you know, because a lot of them are
gonna have the opportunity to play in the NFL.

Sometimes, and the process to even get that opportunity is
is not necessarily the easiest one. But that's what I
think I love about the game most outside of what
each side represents. More than that, it's just the fact

If you know the military, you know that the branches
have their their rivalries like they're straight, like it's a thing,

like they're they're like the high ups. They stay in hotels,
and and then you got what navy. They they stay
you know, either on on ship or or they stay
like in the barracks and stuff like that. And they're
like the army, well they stay out in the woods intense, right,
And it is like this mentality of it's like, all right, well,

if you think about it, armies should be the ones
that's whipping everybody's asses, you know, and and then air
force should be coming in last. But air forces kind
of looked at as more of like they're like a brain,
you know, They're like the spoiled ones. And so it's
interesting when you see them come to blows on the
football field. You got the Knights and you know, and

you got the cadets, and you got all of these
you know, you got airmen, you got you have some
of the midshipmen like you you have all of all
of these elements that are are playing out like below
the surface, like the amount of pride that that is
involved when you see these two like when these these

different institutions of that representation play one another, it's it's
a whole lot of bragging rights that are are on
the line. A whole lot, like and I mean, and
it lasts for a year, like it's it's very much.
It very much permeates through the community itself, what what

Navy does and in those games. And I'm sure it's
the same way for you know, for the Black Knights,
it's the same way for Air Force. It's just yeah,
most of them guys aren't going to the pros. They're not, Like,
I mean, I think the percentage is super super low
on guys I go to the pros. So it's just
like one of those things where this is like that's

the pinnacle for them, you know, to be able to
beat you know, Army, to beat Navy, those two in particular,
but to beat Air Force.

like that that come along with it, Like there's a
corporate vibe with a lot of sporting events that still

He played at Syracuse before that for four years. He
actually was a pretty highly tired of recruit coming out
of don Bosco Prep. If you guys know don Bosco
Prep in Jersey. It's a big powerhouse school. So he

don't think the career he was hoping for. Clearly that's
what led him to Illinois and plays well, shows improvement
in Illinois, and then he finds himself into the NFL.

But I think what you've got is a quarterback who
has showcased ability, obviously athleticism.

Tommy DeVito is something that you might be seeing too
from teams that take rookies and have them as as backups, saying,
these guys are twenty four to twenty five years old.

They've played a lot of football.

I mean Sam Harmon for example, coming out of Notre Dame,
he said, sixty starts, it's a lot of experience, and
I know it's a different level, different game, but there's
a lot of intangibles you can take from your experience.
And you kind of heard Tommy sitting there saying like, yeah, man,
I've played a lot of football.

Like it's just a game. It's how you adapt to
that game.

It's it's the circumstances that you have in the NFL
that you're adapting to. And this is a team that
with Saquon with a few other pieces, especially when when
Brian Dabele was calling games like it was last night
and the defense is stepping up. That's a winning formula.
So it to me, I kind of watch it in Gisco.
It's it's awesome. It's a fun storyline. But anyone who's

followed Tommy DeVito from his time from high school knew
of him as one of the topper highly ranked recruits
and knew that he had ability like this, and I'm
sure the Giants did also, Like when these guys are
doing their background on all these kids, they know what
they were coming out of high school and they're recruiting
you know, status and all that, because that's all part
of the due diligence that they do to figure out

is this guy worth it to be able to bring
on our roster even as an undrafted free agent like
he was, and then you see, you know what he's
capable of doing once he gets out there in a
real live game, So kudos to him and all that.

This is like a new age of how this is
gonna work now with so many kids playing college football
for so long, and maybe he's gonna be an example
for other guys of exhausting all their eligibility in college,

We talked about the upset the New York Giants getting
it done last night at home against the Green Bay Packers.
The New York Giants obviously were underdogs going into that matchup,
and then that was nothing in consideration to what the
Titans and Dolphins was, which was Miami a thirteen and
a half to fourteen point favorite depending on where you shopped.

And it turns out that the Tennessee Titans get it
done there at hard Rock Stadium in whatever part of
Florida they're calling that now, is it Coral Gables or
who knows at this point?

Okay, all right, that was a little bit disjointed for
the Miami Dolphins from the start, like that did not
look right even when they went up, which was due
to those turnovers and mistakes by Tennessee. Even from the
get go, it didn't look right and their defense couldn't
get stops and DeAndre felt.

The offense too didn't really do much when Tyreek wasn't then.

Of the issue with the Dolphins, Like so LeVar Jonas
side sad yesterday about I'll see the Bills win of
the Chiefs and and just part of the frustration for
Mahomes is built around the wide receivers being disappointing. But
part of it too is that was huge in the
sense of Buffalo is still live for the playoffs, and
Kansas City knows like, if there's one team you probably

don't want to have to face as a wildcard team,
it'd be Buffalo I I. And we kind of went
through like, hey, Baltimore is the other team, and we
could throw in we didn't throw in Miami.

And we didn't throw in Miami because of games.

Like this where if if they're playing, you never feel
one hundred percent sure they're going to show up and
win a game the way they're supposed to, or they
can show up and win a game despite not having
maybe their.

Best player, and that's at home in a primetime spot
like where everyone's watching and and that's how the game
turns out. So it's why, like when you look at
the playoffs, you just go, yeah, they're good, they're gonna
make it to the playoffs, but then.

That's how I felt myself talk about Dallas for the
longest time and they finally.

There were a lot of comps between Dallas and Miami
from the standpoint that neither team's really beaten anybody of substance.

down the stretch, it feels like Buffalo's got an advantage
over Miami because Miami's got the Jets coming up at home.
But then they've got the Cowboys, they're at the Ravens,
and they've got the Bills.

How many do those do they have to lose in
order for the Bills to be able to win it? Does?

Basically, they Bills have got the Cowboys. They're at the Chargers,
but they've got the Patriots and it may come down
to that final game of the season at the Dolphins.

I mean, they could stand up to them, they could
stand up to them, but I don't see them winning
that one, not the way them dudes is played. Two balanced,
They're just overwhelming teams right now. Man, I mean, they're
on you know what I was thinking about, And maybe
I'm horrible for saying this. You know, maybe somebody else
has said it, But has anybody really made mention of

the fact that what Mike McCarthy alluded to and kind
of hinted at in terms of him calling the plays
would make all the difference for this team hasn't really
been Has it really been talked about, because I don't
know that I've heard it, But I think the difference

in this team is the balance that they have on offense,
and now it's made their defense even more formidable because
their offense puts so much pressure on.

That's what I'm seeing with Dallas right now, their offense
and the balance that they have between the way they
run the ball, the way they use the screens, the
way they get downfield with their receivers, they use the
tight end.

And oh, by the way, Dak will run and will
lower his shoulder on you too. And I think that's
all because Mike McCarthy took over to play calling this offense.
I have never really seen this offense like. I've seen
them look good at times. I've seen them look explosive
at times, especially when they had Amari Cooper, but I've

not seen this type of production and balance from their offense.
And it started with Mike McCarthy being a play caller.

I mean, I think he should get some propers on
the fact that this team is actually transition into being.
In that conversation with San Francisco Grady, yeah, we talked about.

the great sporting events you'll ever go to. Anybody that's
ever gone to it comes back. And since you have

it's a it's a very electric time.

I'll tell you that, especially at the times that I've
experienced when they had their home games, it's pretty I mean,
the president comes, you know, stuff like that.

I mean, it's pretty cool, pretty cool deal.

You know what I was thinking when I was watching it, too,
is how different everything is for the coaches, how they
go about recruiting. I think I saw something where, you know,
Army Navy typical recruit about ten thousand kids, and that
might not sound like a bunch. And it might sound like, well, yeah,
Ohio State or Michigan or Penn State Probamly it's like, well, no,

they're not recruiting ten thousand at least not in one class.
These guys are recruiting ten thousand kids in one class
and for every twelve to get one. Like that's the
amount of effort that goes into their recruiting effort as
far as what they're being tasked with doing, the opportunity
that's presented, you know, to them. And so then you
look at these young men out there playing and you're
(30:10):
sitting yourself like they're gonna go defend our country, our
liberties and freedoms and especially in today's world where we
don't know what the future holds. But it's just it's
just football. They're just out there playing a game they love.
There's no nil, there's no transfer portal bs like, it's
just all like they're playing to represent army, to represent
(30:31):
navy or even air force.
Speaker 4 (30:33):
Like that's what I love about it. It like takes
away all.
Speaker 7 (30:36):
The other stuff that's happening right now in college football.
That's so different from you know, when I play, when
you played LeVar. And I'm not saying that's like take
away from where the game is at now, but as
we kind of transition and we want to talk about,
you know, Drake May other guys skipping bowl games, it's
like none of that stuff is going through any of
(30:59):
these young men's and I understand they're not in the
same position, you know, because a lot of them are
gonna have the opportunity to play in the NFL.

There's a small few that do.
Speaker 7 (31:06):
Sometimes, and the process to even get that opportunity is
is not necessarily the easiest one. But that's what I
think I love about the game most outside of what
each side represents. More than that, it's just the fact
it's just football. They're they're literally out there playing for
the love of the game.

That's that's the coolest thing.
Speaker 3 (31:26):
If you know the military, you know that the branches
have their their rivalries like they're straight, like it's a thing,
and and it's it's it's pretty cool to listen Like
I've done tours, and and when you're on the tours,
it's just pretty pretty interesting listening to how everybody you
know speaks where it's like Air Force is kind of
(31:49):
like they're they're like the high ups. They stay in hotels,
and and then you got what navy. They they stay
you know, either on on ship or or they stay
like in the barracks and stuff like that. And they're
like the army, well they stay out in the woods intense, right,
And it is like this mentality of it's like, all right, well,
(32:11):
if you think about it, armies should be the ones
that's whipping everybody's asses, you know, and and then air
force should be coming in last. But air forces kind
of looked at as more of like they're like a brain,
you know, They're like the spoiled ones. And so it's
interesting when you see them come to blows on the
football field. You got the Knights and you know, and
(32:32):
you got the cadets, and you got all of these
you know, you got airmen, you got you have some
of the midshipmen like you you have all of all
of these elements that are are playing out like below
the surface, like the amount of pride that that is
involved when you see these two like when these these
(32:53):
different institutions of that representation play one another, it's it's
a whole lot of bragging rights that are are on
the line. A whole lot, like and I mean, and
it lasts for a year, like it's it's very much.
It very much permeates through the community itself, what what
(33:16):
Navy does and in those games. And I'm sure it's
the same way for you know, for the Black Knights,
it's the same way for Air Force. It's just yeah,
most of them guys aren't going to the pros. They're not, Like,
I mean, I think the percentage is super super low
on guys I go to the pros. So it's just
like one of those things where this is like that's
(33:37):
the pinnacle for them, you know, to be able to
beat you know, Army, to beat Navy, those two in particular,
but to beat Air Force.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
Yeah, it's a big deal too.
Speaker 5 (33:46):
Is it the only or at least one of the
few pure sporting events left if you think about it,
that's not totally And Brady mentioned the nil and things
like that that come along with it, Like there's a
corporate vibe with a lot of sporting events that still
seems like the same thing it's always been, Like it
hasn't lost that special feeling you get when.

It feels like one of the only ones remaining if
you think about it, like in season tournaments and gimmicks
and things like that, and yet that one is still
just Army Navy and it's pride. It's pretty cool.

I don't know of any other. I've never really could
think of any other, like where bodies like that, you know,
branches are are colleges and institutions where they're playing one another.

I wouldn't. I wouldn't know. I mean, isn't there It's awesome.

Aren't there aren't there like colleges that exist here in America,
but they're also abroad, like don't but and then what
would that be basketball or soccer or something that they
could play.

I've never heard of it. I think the only and
the true meaning of military, the armed forces them coming
to blows in football is I mean, because football is
the closest thing to the military. So I think that
that's it. It's always been a something I loved. They
told me I had to go serve if I ain't
