Speaker 1 (00:01):
It is the best of two pros and a couple
of Joe with Lamar Areas, Rady Quinn and Jonas Knocks
on Fox Sports Radio. How is that for an NFL weekend? Huh?
Is interesting? Just a weekend in general? She man, what
a weekend of sporting events? Yeah, that was pretty awesome
(00:24):
the World Cup yesterday and then also all the NFL action.
Uh And there's obviously plenty to get to. But I
don't have you ever seen an ending like what we
saw in Las Vegas between the Raiders and Patriots. So
so this is history that we saw yesterday. Yeah, a
(00:46):
complete yeah, and it's so do you want to hear
us break it down? Or should we? How? Boys? Should
we let Scott Zolac, the voice of the New England Patriots,
break out? All right? So all right, so you want
to hear this is the final call on the Patriots
radio network, and just listen to Scott's ola disgusted at
(01:10):
the end of this entire call. Here it was taken away.
Now in a third and ten three seconds left, Jones
will give it to Steven Sandy started everybody runs it
up the middle hit by Chandler, Jones slips and hit
across the forty five with a stiff arm off a
tackle the forty He lost the football and Jacob me
Meyers picks it up. He circles back and he throws
in the class the field triple my God, just picked
up by Chandler Jones. He breaks away to the thirty,
(01:31):
He runs to the twenty, He runs to the ted,
he runs to the episode real touchdowns raters like this
might be one of the dumbest teams I've ever seen,
and a victory for Las Vegas. What do you what
(01:57):
do you do like? How do you like if you're
on that if you're on the Patriots team? What do
you do like? You can? Can? Can? We just kind
of look at that way and try to break down
what may have happened Because Jacobe Myers I have the
utmost respect for him, for the men in which he
handled things for Yeah, he stood there, he answered all
(02:19):
the questions, he took all the blame. Yet what in
the hell was Romandre Stevenson doing? He never should have
pitched it in the first place. It wasn't he lost
it When you go back and watched the multiple replays,
he pitched it like it was almost as if they
called a run play and at some point Matt Patricia,
(02:43):
Joe Judge, Bill Belichick, someone said, hey, if you get
far enough down there and plus territory, start pitching it
around trying to go make a play, go score touchdown.
I think Stevenson said afterwards it was just supposed to
be a draw play and nothing more. Why then, I
don't know, I think he will rogue. It's like, that's
what doesn't make sense. There's no way he went rogue.
(03:05):
He might he would pitch it, and then it doesn't
make any sense. Why. Jakobe Meyers said there was more
than one. There had to have been something that was said,
and these guys are all covering for Bill Belichick. But
Bill Belichick didn't. Bill belichicks after the game like it
was dumb, it was dumb football, or something to that effect.
He said something that to me made it sound like
(03:28):
that's what they wanted. There's no that's the Patriots. It's
the Patriots. You're not doing laterals on rogue, not for
the Patriots. Like if there was one team you say
you're not going rogue on a play, it's the Patriots.
I mean, he's fired dudes for being late and ice
storms like, you're not You're not going rogue on the Patriots.
(03:50):
I'm sorry you lateral more than once that was that
was predetermined. Let's try to let's try to lateral it.
Let's try to get into the end zone that was tied.
So who's the most likely, corporate Patricia. Here's what I
don't know is I've never been a part of a
team that had that sort of play in like where
(04:11):
you'd run the football and then looked a lateral like
we've always had it where you'd have the running back
kind of release out on a short route. Once everyone
else ran down field, you throw it to him. Then
then it kind of starts the lateral back and forth
and used the ladders usually happened a little quicker um
or it's like a hook and ladder, right, you take
a shot somewhere down thirty yards down field, then they're
(04:32):
pitching it to some guy coming across underneath. Again, not
that play either. So it was just it was really
odd to me that watching that plan, thinking Okay, they're
running it out, trying to get into overtime, and then
you watch what ensusan go Wow that they just did that,
that just happened. I just I've never seen anything like
(04:53):
that before, and it had to have been it had
to have been something that was mentioned by Matt Patricia.
It had to have been, because that's the last guy
who's gonna be calling in any communication that it's quarterback,
and maybe even some of the Matt Jones had to
echo to his team, but light good soldiers that they are.
(05:14):
You know, everyone's gonna bite the bullet or everyone's gonna
is gonna take the shots for Bill Belichick, for Matt Patricia.
That's just the new England way you want to hear.
See here was mac Jones mac Jones. Mac Jones was
asked after the game about the play. Here's what he
had to say. David just said that it was a
(05:35):
called draw play from Andrea takes the ball. Was he
told to initiate a pitch play if possible, if there
was something he saw. Was he told do what you
can and then go down. Yeah. I think you just
have to ask Cook Belichick. Um, you know, obviously we
have a plan for the end of the game, and
I just didn't do enough job there. So I have
to watch the taping get better and do all the things,
(05:56):
you know, so we don't even have to be in
that situation. Jacoby said just to few minutes ago to
reporters in the locker room that he was just trying
to be a hero, trying to do too much. I
guess how much do you feel for him on that play?
I think Jacoby is one of the best teammates I've
ever had um and he's a fighter, and he does
everything you can to try and help the team. At
the end of the day, the guys out there fighting
and trying to compete and win the game, and there's
(06:17):
a lot of things I could have done better in
the game, like I said earlier, So we were not
even in that situation. So it's it's tough, but I
love Jacobe and I love all the guys on our team.
It's not Jacoby's fault. This is translation. It wasn't Jacobe's
fault that. This is why the pages are such a
pain in the ass. You're never going to get the true,
true answer. You're never gonna get a clear answer. Was
(06:37):
he Aaron Belichick out there though? By the way, at
the beginning of that when he says, you're gonna have
to ask check because I mean, I love I love
what he said though I love that Personally, I did too.
I like the whole thing. I like everything he said
that because he's taken a lot of flak this year,
and a lot of it's been for you know, his
(06:58):
play or lack through and stuff. He's battled through there,
and he's got a defensive coordinator calling place for him.
It's no disrespect to Ma Patricia. It's just there's gonna
be a lot of frustration. Like he's never really come
out and defended Mac. It's like at some point he's
got to innowledge the fact that maybe been a bad
idea to get Mappatricia's plack on. Dudes. By the way,
(07:21):
you just think about what he just said. He's got
a defensive coordinator calling heyrelax, that's happened before. But it's
no way, it's no different what Vance Joseph said. I
take a little offense to that. I'm like, yeah, you
could say the same thing, say he's got offensive coorator
called defense. No, No, I get it, I get it.
(07:44):
I'm just said I've called offenses before when my offices
were dynamic, you know, like I like spacing out you
guys call a lateral play like that. No, that on me.
But what I will not do is defend former players
anymore that are coaching here. Those days are over, Those
days are gone. You're gonna have to have you have
(08:08):
to just Saturday about that. I don't know. You know,
here's the hard part about Bernie Belichick, though, is he's
had so many assistance and people who are like out
on other teams. It's it's hard because then he's you're
not gonna get his stamp of approval. You know what
I mean? You burned Bill Belichick. You think josh Ua
Daniels and Dave Zego are gonna hire you? I mean,
(08:28):
I mean who is Uh? Why why am I blanking
on the name uh? Former head coach of the Browns
with the Jets? Now, now why am I? Why am
I blanking on the name Brady? Your former coach? Mangini? Um? Yeah,
like Mangini, Like Mangine. Seemed like you burned that bridge
and that hasn't really been built up yet, hasn't really
(08:49):
been repaired. He still doesn't fool with that was gone.
I mean, think about that. He had a shot with
the Jets and then he got, you know, in with
the Browns, which if I'm not mistaken too. I think
had to do with if you look at the general
manager of I think the Cleveland Guardians now obviously not
the team at the time. There's some sort of marriage
(09:10):
connection too with all of that, where where I I
do have to look back and do like who's married
to who and all that. But I remember like he
got in the year of Randy and Learner and that
was one of the reasons why man g got the
job in Cleveland. It was because some of the connections.
There's some family ties, someone married into something and that
was that was how that all started. And that was
the last you know shot. He got his head coach,
(09:33):
um whatever. Tom Brady represented as the developed quarterback for
that group. I don't know if it was a perfect
storm in terms of you had ty law, you had
Lawyer Malloy, you had Teddy Bruski, you had Willie McGinnis,
who about a way said say, what's I saw Willie
mack yesterday at a volleyball tournament? Uh? And then you
(09:54):
you know, you took uh you know and he it
is still yoked the f up by the way, just
a different I walked up on Mac, I was like,
what are you doing? Bro? Like staying you're not ready
for the war. Like he's different, you staying ready for
the war. Huh, Like really actually is different, He's just different.
(10:17):
Willie Mack, Willie Max stayed ready for the war. He
came walking walking back like what like is there it's
Sunday while you here? Given that Willie Mack back, he
(10:38):
yoked up though I ain't gonna hold him. But anyway,
how big is he? Six five? He might be bigger,
really biggest human beings. I saw a ton of former
athletes with with their kids at this volleyball tournament. It's
it's like a parade of all these major athletes. And
Willie mac came in that bit looking swol anyway, and
(11:04):
then you got on the offensive side of the ball,
you got you got like a plethora of like people
don't give Troy Troy Brown and Dave Patton a whole
lot of credit for for the type of players that
they were in branch, but those were brilliant players as well.
The amount of leadership folk, you know in the backfield
(11:25):
along with what was Antoine Antoine Smith, I want to
say it was there there. I mean, the the assortment
of of guys not to mention you had Drew bletso there. Originally,
I think the development of Tom Brady under all of
those consummate pros and very very developed leaders created something
(11:49):
along with what Bill Belichick brought to the table with
his coaching staff. With Tom Brady. We'll never see that again.
We will never see that again. And fear or not fair,
Bill Belichick will be judged and measured based off of
the type of success that he has post Tom Brady,
(12:14):
and he will never have another Tom Brady. He would
he may never have an assortment of players as good
as that that period of time that he had when
he won all of those Super Bowls. It wasn't just
Tom Brady, you know, you you have other Hall of famers,
you know, Seymour and and and law. We're on that team.
And I would say William McGinnis should be in the
(12:36):
conversation of being a Hall of Famer. To my point,
I just don't believe that Bill Belichick will be able
to live up to being what we have come to
know as Bill Belichick. And now that you have that
that vision of who he is, that that idea of
who he is, there's always gonna be tremendous letdowns when
(12:59):
you have moments. Now that was a brain for for real, Like,
whoever did that, that's you made your coach. And if
it was him, he made himself look bad. If it
was if he was a part of it, whoever did that,
you made your yourselves look bad. But I just don't
believe that we will ever see Bill Belichick without a
team or Tom Brady, like he's had live up to
(13:20):
the expectations that will be on him the rest of
the way. And that's kind of hard because he's had
a brilliant coaching career and you know, how how does
it how does he get judged moving forward? Are you
saying that he was rooting against the box in the
Super Bowl a couple of years ago, he was rooting
against the Bucks. I'm just I'm just saying, I know,
(13:41):
for him, his success has has dwindled, you know, since
since having since having Tom Brady. It's a there's a
direct cause and effect to his departure. And listen, had
he retired, you're still gonna deal with the same scrutiny
that comes with not having Tom Brady anymore. But ultimately,
(14:02):
he developed Tom Brady, so he gets the credit for it.
But I still think that coaches are ultimately judged on
the successes that they have, and he's had more success
than any other coach. And now we're looking at those
lack of successes and and it's hard to believe that
Bill Belichick would be connected to a play like that.
It's hard to believe that he would be connected to
(14:23):
struggling in a season like he has. There's uh, there
was another what was it the Dolphins a couple of
years ago. There was that lateral play that ended that
game as well too. That was one of those miracle plays.
So he's been on the wrong end of a couple
of these. Now, how about the coincidence or the irony
of it going to Chandler Jones. I mean, it could
have gone to any other player. Yeah, that's when it
(14:43):
got away. That's one that he's got to look at
and say, this is just for all the all the
times he didn't pay a guy, maybe that was the
guy who should have paid, you know. And by the way,
who did he He got ted. They traded into Arizona
for an offensive lineman who I think they cut less
than a year later. I'm almost positive they cut a
(15:03):
must in a year later. So not not a great
a great spot for Belichick, but nonetheless, the Raiders get
it done again. Burdo's in a better mood, which is
always good for us, I mean, Burtos. We try to
tell you, Berto, these Raiders, man look out for him.
You guys Ronnie lost, say you gotta hide your finger
though with that Ronnie lost for Oakland. Yeah, Berto, come on, bit,
(15:27):
but you try to tell you, man, do not give
up in these Raiders. They're back there back. He's got nothing,
They're back. You gotta win the less the ness three games. Yeah,
well it's a little bit with the last three unless
you win the fourth, you know, right, Yeah, they're on
a roll. Berto, Raiders, come throw them up, Burt to
throw them or something. And I'll tell you what. You
(15:50):
know what that's for Willie Matt and that that's for
big swoll Up at the same time, Willie Matt. That's
what they call it, Willie at the same time. Man.
You know, you know, I'm glad you brought that up,
because fellas, it's time to stop treating your groins like junk.

Eastern three am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
(16:35):
I Heart Radio app. So our friends listening on the
Yallowhorn of the Twin Cities k Fan, they got to
see a little bit of history, a little bit of
history on Saturday as the Minnesota Vikings pull off the
biggest comeback in regular season history, down thirty three to
nothing at the half to the Indianapolis Colts, and LaVar's
(16:58):
Jeff Saturday led Indianapolis Schools only to claim him now
to threw that fish back fishing swimming, He ain't in
my boat, Okay, So so Matt Ryan's just we're gonna
leave him out of this, even though he's got a
track record. Now, whoa why are we blaming Matt Ryan defense? No, Yeah,
(17:24):
that's my issue with this whole thing is the Super Bowl.
This came like I get it, Like you know, the
offense didn't score all the points, But come on, man, like,
at some point we gotta start holding a defense accountable
and all this can't be keep you know, hammering my guy,
Matt Ryan like that, Mattie Ice. I'm holding the coach
accountable like it is the defense. It was the defense.
(17:45):
I mean, I don't, I don't thirty thirty thirty three,
thirty three nothing I had three? How far into the
third quarter? Were they up? They kicked a field goal.
At the end the third it was thirty six to fourteen.
There you go, Yeah, thirty six to fourteen. You needed
(18:07):
twenty two points. You needed twenty two points to be
able to just tie that game. Just tie the game,
let alone win the game. You needed twenty two to
tie it in the fourth quarter in the National Football
League game. Everybody who was a part of that coats
uh effort. Coaches, players should all be fired, should all
(18:30):
be fired. Jeez, you should all be You're a pro.
You're you're a pro. You gave up that amount of
like y'all can't hold the ball long enough to not
let them get three possessions three three touchdown possessions. By
the way, how many lung darts cheat? Think Jim mercy
went through. He might he might have went a little
(18:52):
stronger than lung darts. Oh yeah, yeah, he might need
a little bump or something. I don't know. I don't
know aggressive. Well, I don't know about I mean, well,
I mean, I know what the slang term is. But
I'm just saying he just needed a little like some
coffee or something, you know what I mean. Yeah, a
(19:14):
couple of coffee. Yeah, that's ground espresso. Yeah, I don't
know what you guys are taking those Cuban coffee? Is
that one of those street slang words. I mean, I
don't know. He just needed something a little stronger than
than lung darts, I would assume, by the way, those
Cuban coffee. Brady, do you get Cuban coffees a lot?
In my in Florida? Do you get him a lot? Not?
Not a lot? You gotta go to the right places
(19:34):
like that. There's a there's a Cuban spot near me
that I tend to go to. Um. Obviously, the family
literally defected came here and all that. Um, great story.
The sun who's taking it over his awesome guy. So
I'll go there and get one and grab one. Uh.
Sometimes when I go down to Miami to the airport.
But they get you. They'll keep you up, that's for sure.
(19:55):
Oh yeah, they're fantastic. I feel like de Mercy need
it not to just stay up, but he just needed
to be like happier. Can I ask this though, think
about the turn of emotions from Jim or say, from
the first half, you were kicking the crap out of
a team that's going to the playoffs. Pretty much in
the Vikings, I think we'd all agree that they're going
(20:17):
to the playoffs. It's just a matter of if they're
you know, when the division, which they've now clinched in
retrospect um, but they're going to the playoffs, and they're
they're beating the crap out of the Vikings in their
house in the first half. If you, I mean imagine Jimmers,
say the bottles, he's popping the songs, he's singing, the trees,
(20:39):
he's leaning up against celebrating what he thought was a
sure fire butt kicking of the Minnesota Vikings. Always see
that have to witness the worst lost in NFL history.
I mean, I just I can only imagine his emotions
at all. This made history, you know, I mean, you
(21:00):
got to be proud about the fact that he put
the her say name in the Colts in the history book.
How much does this impact Jeff Saturday being able to
get that job up long term? I mean I think
it was impacted before before. Now, I mean you do,
I do. I mean maybe in the last week or so,
you know, maybe maybe a little you know, I don't know,
(21:21):
but yeah, I do. From day one, day one? What's up?
Where's the sarcasm coming from? How far back before they
hired him? I don't know, like you've been you've been writing.
After the first win. After the first win, I was like, okay,
here we go. He came in, he revived him. They
kind of showed some some gut, some grit, you know,
(21:44):
and Jeff Saturday was, you know, the the coach who
many sound from Jeff Saturday. I just, you know, I
just want to make sure people here, do we have
any sound? No, we don't have a we can now
we get we're after naming jeff'son. We don't know that
he was deferring to Coach Belichick. We kind of answered
the question I'm gonna have to ask Coach Belichick. That's
(22:06):
brutal man, And you know, You know. The thing about
it though, is that to Brady's point, Matt Ryan's going
to be the one who's got to take the hit.
He's the fall guy. Yeah, he's got to be the guy.
And and it's just the ongoing jokes. Uh, the blown
leading the super Bowl, this one that was that was
I just want to give that due the hug man, like, yeah,
(22:26):
you're doing enough. Man, it just seems like no one's
ever helping you. Like he's never gonna help around you.
If I'm just Saturday, I throw everybody under the bus.
Your only chance you want to return next year, you
want that shot out getting the job, you better throw
everybody under the bus. And by the way, I'm taking
my hat at the ring now. It's a coach with
the bar when he gets a head coaching because because
(22:49):
I know where this whole thing is going, the assistant
to get canned. Yeah, well yeah, it's like we lose
a couple of games. Next thing you know, everyone's gone.
You're like, okay, well I knew that was coming. It's
like the Matt Maggy in Chicago that everybody I just said,
what his options are, Q. I would never throw you
under the bus, you know, uh. Fired. I believe I'm
(23:10):
assuming that I would never do, but I gotta I
gotta admit though if I was in that position, I
don't know how I would handle it, you know, because well,
I mean to your point, though, it's not like he
hired that, he didn't hire him. He didn't hire him.
You had to hire me because these same fools that
got us losing these big old leads and making history
are still the assistants. And to that point, some of
(23:33):
these players too, like that they they are the reason
why we lost and made history. Like, think about this,
it was my coaching. That guy is that that big lead.
It was our coaching. It was their coaching and lack
thereof and our players ability to finish the game that
let us losing this game. There you go, that's me
if I'm just I mean, what we did. We see
(23:54):
him on the sidelines of the second half, was he
was he not having maybe a drink or two? Jim
said to the second half side, they are drinking, buddy?
From what that that's what we hear. Yeah, you want
to hear from your guy, Jeff Saturday. Yeah, there you go,
all right, this is Jeff Saturday post game LaVar's guy
moments before he called Lavarre to check in. Ultimately, again,
it comes down to making plays, not sustaining drives. I
(24:16):
know we had some conversions on penalties defensively, which is frustrating.
Um and again, and we penalized ourselves offensively, have a
fumble in our own red zone or backed up UM again.
That's how you keep teams like this in it and
making no mistakes. We weren't overlooking how good this offense was.
I knew how explosive they were. We all did making
those mistakes. Keep seems like that around. And once you
(24:38):
get momentum in the NFL, it's it's hard to swing
that thing there. It is you happy. I mean, there's
not enough momentum in the world to give up that
type of lead with that little amount of time left.
And what's the biggest lead you ever gave up in
a game against Tom Brady in college who I think
we were up by ten, maybe we were about ten
(25:00):
with like eight minutes left in Happy Valley, and that
Mother's again came back and and through two crossing routes
against our um previous look watch this, watch me throw
them under the bus. Our prevent defense Marcus Knight ran
(25:20):
through the middle of it, which in prevent. If you're
gonna go prevent, then at least half three have have
a center field safety and two safety. So if you're
if you're gonna go prevent, you're gonna go through prevent,
please do that. Marcus Knight ran through our prevent defense twice,
same exact play, the same exact way, and scored on us.
(25:42):
And and I knew then that Tom Brady was special
because he was delivering and and that defense. Again, you
had a future one and two overall pick in the
NFL draft, you had a second round I think we
had to to second rounders like we had. We had
a flunk of bad boys on that defense, and Tom
diced us up with like less than it had to
(26:05):
have been less than eight minutes in the game, one
of the most hard outside of Minnesota, beating us with
the last second, hell Mary and kicking a field goal
to basically give us our first loss and eliminate us
from contention from playing the national title game. That's the biggest,
most painful loss ever in my career period. Yeah, But
(26:27):
I would say because it's Tom Brady, a little bit
easier to no, not at the time, not at the time,
and even and even now retrospect, it's like, let's keep
doing what like and this is what I would have
said to to the Colts, keep doing what got you there?
Like why would you not continue to do what got
(26:48):
you there? You know sometimes that whole honor system like
oh we didn't want to run it up or this
that another f that, man, you keep doing what got
you there, because you know what the guys put in
that work during the course of the week, put in
that preparation. We didn't get in into this game to
play pre event for eight minutes. I don't know what
type of offense they were running. I don't know what
(27:09):
type of defense they were running, but it looked very
different from what they were running when they got to
the lead that they got against the Vikings. Yeah, you
guys had a seven seventeen lead with nine minutes and
change left, and then uh, yeah, well at least it's
a little better. Nine minutes is a little longer. That
(27:31):
was a little bit more time. That was that was
imagine playing pre event defense for nine minutes and and
by the way, you're you're you're running in the in
the big ten, you're you're running plays where it's like
we're gonna run, run, run, punt the ball like nothing,
nothing else. We know exactly what they're about to do. Run, run, run,
(27:52):
punk the ball for nine minutes. That man came down
fielding them last couple of drives. It. I guess we
should have known. I guess we should have known. You
say that, though, but like I remember when I came
back from my senior year, like that's all people played
against us. It was like prevent twenty two Tampa. Like,
(28:13):
I'll it's in particular funny, you're all the mater, Like
I'll never forget dropping back every time going damn. Like
they just keep running the mic out of there. Everyone's
playing soft as a three man rush. We just check
it out in the back, check it down in the back.
And I was like, this is really frustrating. Well I'll
tell you it might have been frustrating. But Tom found
(28:34):
the gap and oh yeah no, we whoopd y'all's asked
that year. But I'm just saying that I have selective memory.
It was entire game. I'm glad you got to say
that on lived Oh they did. By the way, LaVar,
do you know what Notre Dame said after that win too,
(28:56):
you come to Notre Dame to win championships? No, they
said we are? Yeah, did they really said we are?
And they said you ain't. I should say that. I'm
gonna make a nice sizeable donation with Bagoula, so that
doesn't happen anymore. Let's go, let's go. Let's let's get
our Let's get our hockey team. He should that be
the sport we picked to be competitive against each other
(29:17):
in hockey. Let's go wrestling. You know I've got wrestling
brother in law's brothers on Penn States hockey teams. Okay,
we got a good We gotta good hockey team to
you do. Yeah, it's very well funded. Yeah, but let's go.
Let's go, let's go. Let's go wrestling. Let's let's go
hit the hair. You're not in this conversation, but Penn
(29:40):
State's got one of the best wrestling You're not in
this conversations before. We don't have a wrestling program. Well
we'll get what you want. There's not even a club sport.
We'll get you on. Yeah, just so you can wrestle
less get the yes, yes, yes, it is two pros
and a Cup of Joe Fox Sport Trading on bring
up the fact that we lost a Notre game, and
(30:02):
and and then Brady talking about they whooped our Ask God, well,
I was just saying, you're like prevents a long time
to play for tonight as Paul plus Lesnie, they played
it for like an entire game against us. Puzz is
a fine young man, isn't he he was? I remember
I kept saying, I'm like, what are y'all doing? I
was like, Blitz or something, do something different. I mean,
that might be the one dude that rivals you for Superhero.
(30:23):
Good looks, Bro. I just gotta be honestly superhero. He
is a good looking dude. Man God, Paul, Puzz Lesnie
captain Puzz Yeah, yeah, Bro didn't looked like Superman like
the real life like Superman. He is Superman like you
got you got the Q version, you got the puzz version,
like yeah, man. And he's the great. He's possibly the
(30:44):
greatest linebacker in the history of the school on on
everything at what school state linebacker? He dropped that beric,
He pulled that banneric in twice, pulled it in twice.
I didn't do that. I'll tell you that it's a
bad boy. You're to catch live editions of two Pros
and a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LaVar Arrington
(31:05):
and Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific. Hey,
what's up everybody. It's me three time pro bowler Lavarrington
and I couldn't be more excited to announce a podcast
called Up on Game? What is Up on Game? You asked,
along with my fellow pro bowler t J. Hudgman's Otta
and Super Bowl champion. That's right, Plexico Birds. You can
(31:28):
only name a show with that type of talent on it.
Up on Game. We're going to be sharing our real
life experiences loaded with teachable moments. Listen to Up on
Game with Me, LaVar Arrington, t J. Hudgmans, Otta, and
Plexico Birds on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast
or wherever you get your podcast from. So for those
(31:52):
of you that were watching the Dallas Cowboys last year
and you were thinking dallass that am, but they were
lucky to win that game against Houston, don't worry about it,
because the football gods got even yesterday and it was
the Jacksonville Jaguars taking care of business over Lavars Dallas
Cowboys in overtime, Labar, you've been calling the demise. I'm not.
(32:21):
I'm not seeking the demise of this team. I just
don't trust their offense. I keep saying it. I don't
trust their who do you not trust Dak Prescott? I
don't trust their quarterback play. I don't trust their I mean,
by the way, has he been good this year? He's
he hasn't been, Like this is one of his worst seasons.
And and I would say of his career now for
(32:41):
Dak Prescott, Uh, it kind of feels that way. Yeah,
you know, like it feels like he's like he's throwing
picks like I mean, obviously that was a two past yesterday.
Um that turned into a pick six. But yeah, that's
that's kind of a bad loss of the Dallas Cowboys.
A bad one. It's a bad one. And listen there,
I think they've already clinched the playoffs spots, So there's that.
(33:05):
I won't put that as one of those things like, oh,
they're gonna miss the playoffs again. Like I'm kind of
over that aspect of it. I just don't think that
they're a good enough team on offense to be competitive
this season. I think their defense has been tasked to
to really really carry the load for this team. And
(33:27):
if you are able to find ways to have success
against their defense, then they're in trouble. Like you're not
you're not going to have And they score points yesterday.
It's not like they didn't score points. I mean it's
not like this is like you know, Baltimore in in
a scenario or Pittsburgh that they just don't show any
real life. They show a little life on offense. I'm
(33:48):
not saying that their void of any type of success.
I'm just saying I don't trust their offense. And if
we're talking about this is a ten win team, um,
I just you know, you look at the stretch, look
at look at the schedule stretch for them, Um, it's
very I mean, you lose the to Jacksonville, you very
(34:09):
well could lose two out of your last three games.
Doesn't the defense have to own that one? Yesterday a
little bit though, Like you were up seventeen, they were
up they and they gave it. I mean they were
up and like I said, I mean, if you can
figure out their defense, then this team is in trouble.
They're in trouble. I mean, thirty four or forty points,
(34:30):
that's a lot of points. That's a lot of points,
you know. So but with that being said, again, if
you can't rely and and and keep in mind that
the most importance is always focused in on the offensive
side of the ball. So for what it's worth, I
know Q said earlier, you know you can't blame Matt
Ryan for for the loss, and I would agree, but
(34:53):
you gotta keep in mind the level of importance and
focus is on the offensive side of the ball. Oh
that's for good, that's for worse, you know, and and
and and for what it's worth, Jacksonville figured out a
way to be able to put points up on the
board against Dallas, and Dallas didn't have enough offense to
(35:14):
to win. I mean, once you get to the to
the what overtime, it's all it's it's like it's all
white clean, like who's gonna win the game? Do you
have enough offense? Do you have enough defense? Who's gonna win?
I'll put it this way, if you were looking to
build a team right now, LaVar and Jonas, who would
you pick? Who would you pick between Trevor Lawrence and
Deak Press, Trevor Lawrence. Yeah, I mean that that's what
(35:37):
it comes down to. Like Trevor Lawrence is a dude.
He's playing that way. And even though I mean, and
I said this, you know two weeks ago, like Dallas
has that one loss, you just go all right, man, like,
what what's happening? Like they're a talented team, they're gonna
be a playoff team, but what happened with that? What
happened with that one? That's two weeks now, two weeks
(36:00):
they should have lost to the Texans and then they
lose the Jacksonville Jaguars. They're playing with fire and it
it just it leaves me always looking at this team
saying it feels like it's always super Bowl or bust
for Jerry Jones, for Mike McCarthy, for Dak Prescott, and
I think, you know, it's a lot of teams probably
say that, but there's only a few that it actually
(36:21):
means something significant to Like I I don't know that
it's realistic for Dallas Like I think they are. They
have some really talented players. They're a good football team.
They're a playoff football team, but they're not one that
anyone takes seriously to win a Super Bowl because of
a loss like this, Like that's one of those that
you go if you're gonna win a Super Bowl, if
(36:42):
you're gonna be the team that Jerry Jones thinks you're
going to be, you win that game. You don't. You
don't nearly get beat by the Houston Texans, even though
that was a nice cover by Houston yesterday. I just
I look at I look at them, and that's how
I always feel about this team. And and I don't
know if it's a direct correlation with Dak and what
(37:03):
the season he has had and then whether or not
he's capable, but I'll tell you this much, if if
you could swap those two quarterbacks, I probably would feel
different about their chances because Trevor Lawrence is a stud
and he's everything that I think everyone thought he'd be
as the number one overall pick. You're starting to see
it now, and I think people are starting to realize
that that that a FC South, especially with the you know,
(37:25):
the Titans. The way that team looks right now. I'm
not saying it's wide open whether the Jaguars can still
make a run this year, but for years to come,
like that's the team that's that's gonna dominate that division.
And it's pretty cool to see what Doug Peterson and
Trevor Lawrence are doing right now. It's amazing to think
that Tennessee is at tim wins. The way they're playing,
(37:45):
they're at two wins. That's that blows me away. And
it does say that there is well Tennessee seven and
seven set or excuse me, seven and seven Now, I'm
I'm surprised that Tennessee is at seven wins, is what
I'm meant to say. Like, the way they're playing right now,
they're at the top of their division two is what
what's more even that's what's more intriguing. Um, But yeah,
(38:06):
it does say that that that division is wide open.
And Jacksonville, I mean, they have some defense and now
they're starting to show that they have some offense. But
I'm gonna go back to Dallas and just say the
indictment here is that's still a team that's trying to
find their way. They haven't found their way. They're trying
to find their way. Thank you, get out of my head.
(38:31):
I guess we do a show together. We're too deep
into the season and we're too much at the point
in time of the season where the teams that are
good need to show that they're good and they're getting
they're getting better, They're they're showing that that it's time
to play ball. It's time to dial in and and
go ahead and do what we need to do. You
look at how the Bengals are playing. You look at
(38:52):
how the Chiefs are playing. You look at how the
forty Niners are playing. You know, some of these teams
that we're we're looking at their trending up, like how
teams that win the Super Bowl trend up. The thing
about Dallas, though, is that they are going to have
a first round by in the playoffs because they're probably
gonna play Tampa Bay. So let's not move on from Dallas.
(39:16):
Let's not move on from they're gonna playoff game. We've
got to me, no one does a victory lap like
LaVar and I am so like I always picture if
LaVar was gonna hit a game winning home run, walk
off home runs on this topic right here, yes, and
like the way you'd run around those bases where you
would soak it in and you would take that little
(39:38):
like shuffle shuffle shuffle that hit the bag as you
go around, you know, maybe even tap up some of
the other guys from their team that are out there
in the you know, that are still hanging around the field.
I guess we're like Jonas. Jonas would just run around
the basis and running like fastest possible. I'm pushing that
fan like Handkaren got exactly what I'm saying. And you
did not take a victory lap, and you should have.
(39:59):
I have very that was I was looking forward to
this today. I thought I took a victory Like, here's
the best part. These Bamas lost to Jacksonville. There you go,
you know, shouts out to d C. You know they'll
understand what Obama. Yeah, it's an old term. Yeah, not
(40:20):
like you know, it's not it's not it's not a
it's not a term like that one right there. You know,
what are you serious? Welcome, Welcome to the wrist to
the red light district. Lame dude, it was used in
(40:40):
the proper context. No, no, you cannot say that. Yes
you can, you can not. Today there is no way
y'all could tell me that I can't use that as
a reference. I'm trying to protect you. You literally referenced
as a word you can't use. Correct. I mean, even
(41:02):
even Lee kind of knows he can't say that, you know,
I mean we do. We do live reads that that
are questionable. I mean, got Lee, we get hit and
dump for every library that Jonas does. All right, but
back to the initial point, I thought that was a
pretty cool deal right there. I thought was kind of
does a victory lap? Come on, I just did my
(41:24):
victory lap right there. And now you know why I
don't do a victory that because when I do my
victory lap, it leads to me getting dumb. So how
do you feel? How do you feel about Dallas's chances
this upcoming weekend Christmas Eve against the Eagles? Based on
what you saw. I think they're one of those teams
that could probably beat the Eagles, but they won't. They
(41:46):
won't because I mean, it's it's there for him. I mean,
they like they're they're not gonna win the division. Philly's
obviously won the division. They're gonna win and get a
first round by but Dallas is most likely, as it
stands right now, gonna play the winner of the NFC
South in the first round of the playoffs and They're
probably gonna win that game, and then you see how
(42:06):
it shakes out and who they play for. I don't.
I don't look at that as that's money. Cash that
in and at the bank if that's if that's they
will probably they will make it in as as a
wild card team. But like you're saying that, I don't. Again,
there's a chance that another NFC East team, there's a
chance that the Giants could possibly bump Dallas for for
(42:30):
the next slot up. Do you guys know what the
point spread is for Cowboys Eagles? What is it? Not
seen it yet? Let me play the game of guessing this. Uh,
where's it? Where they playing at Dallas? It'll be Philadelphia
favorite by four, four or five somewhere there. Yeah, I'm
(42:57):
gonna say like three and a half. Okay, the Cowboys
are one and a half point favorite. What yeah, take that,
old man. I'm taking the Eagles straight up. Cowboys. Cowboys
are favorite in that game. That's that's interesting. So, I mean,
that's an oddline that an ode. So after losing to Jacksonville,
(43:20):
I would expect that probably is going to move a
little bit at some point during the week like that,
How Boys are favorite? Yeah, huh yeah, So so that listen,
that's not all doom and gloom on the Dallas Cowboys.
I mean a line doesn't mean that there's not doom's
expectations that there that they should win this game. And also,
(43:42):
I mean, look, this is the they're gonna want revenge
on Syrianni. You've got Micah Parsons. What did he say
about the way the last time? That's game f you
and I so far, have you ever had a coach
that you played in any game ever yelling across the
sidelines that's game f you. Pies on passion, right, pies passion?
(44:09):
Probably like no one no one said anything about it,
Like no one made a big deal. They're like always
perfect for Philly. I'm like, yeah, okay, Like I just
like people made such a big deal about Caleb boy
his fingernails being painted F you to Utah and the
no one made a big deal about Nick Syrian and
he's screaming across the field f you to the entire
Cowboys sideline. And by the way, he was yelling when
(44:31):
he walked out the tunnel as well too, So he
didn't just stop there. He let it fly when he
walked out of there. They're going to get it in
and it's going to be a physical fight in that game.
Like I'm not saying fight fight, It's going to be
a fight for whoever wins that game. But Jordan's a
lot of verse. Michael Parsons. At some point, I mean,
(44:52):
Dallas is not good enough. I saw another clip of
him singing at the Eagles Christmas party. He's got the
voice of an angel. He really can't sing that a
giant angel. My goodness. He think about him like not
that his career will ever end anywhere short. He played
for like twenty years at his size and athleticism was
making he's taking advantage. Well, but I'm saying, like the
off season, I would just spend time making albums. He's
(45:14):
so he's such a good singer. He's taking advantage. Bro.
I mean that that Christmas song they he killed it
killed singing something else on stage. I was like, damn,
is that him again? He's big enough to kill something
now five years old? Man? Is that all? But he
was a seventh round draft pick. I didn't know he
was a seventh round pick. Well yeah, because he hadn't
(45:35):
played football before. He was a rugby player. Do you
do not know the backstory of a career. I knew
he was a rugby first off rugby player. He never
played football to run the ball too, if they really
wanted him that he could run the ball, and he's
like photos of him running. I knew he was a
rugby player, but at no point during his life he played.
He played like a year or two. And it's a
(45:56):
pretty big jump to go from professional rugby to playing
left I could for hell. Now he's a great singer too,
I mean he's got he's a great voice. And now
he called out Michael Parsons that Michael Parson isn't going
to take kindly to that. It's gonna be fun. If
I had my money on that, I'm taking sticks. But
I'm just sad overall my lot of six as Australia
(46:19):
don't care. Is that sticks man? All right? They fight
wallabase out the wall we run with the mountain lines,
the wallababs or kangaroos, Walla walla, walla bake. Is that
game gonna largely dictate the m v P for Hurts, Yes,
(46:40):
although I'm curious to see after burrows performance chest because
Hurts did throw I mean, wait, who's performing Burrows performance. Yes,
I'm sorry Bert, who did he say? Yeah? Who's a Roberto?
Who's the Bengals starting quarterback? Again? Like, who's that guy
that the Bengals have playing quarterback? Now? Brady has been
(47:02):
on the m v P for Joe Burrow train for
a little while now, so it feels. I mean, honestly,
I like the odds before the season started because everyone's
like after the appendicitis, those odds got you stuff, and
I was like, this is perfect. Now's the time to
cease this. So um, but you know, come around as
much as they throw the come around. So Joe Burrow
(47:24):
right now, tend to one, tend to one him in
some places. Eleven, Hey, dive in on this. They're gonna
win the a f C North. They're not gonna be
the top seed in the a f C. But he's
gonna have the stats. I'm telling you, So there it
is a little money. I'm not bullish on Dallas. They're
not gonna win. And if they do, that isn't what
(47:46):
they call it an aberration? An aberration, Yeah, that's that's
a I just don't think they're good enough on offense,
and and it's going to show at this point in
the season, it's going to show. And it showed this
this past Sunday. It will show. It will certainly show
against a good team. You know, Jacksonville is a team
(48:07):
that's on the rise. They seemingly are are watching a
stud quarterback come into his own and and and some
of the you know, players on on that team are
are playing better. But that's not a good team yet either,
and they just went and lost to them. I just
don't that doesn't it doesn't make sense to to think
that they can win a game against maybe the second
(48:30):
best team or some would argue first best team in
the National Football League in December. Doesn't doesn't seem that,
like you make it make sense for me as to
how they would win this game. Fox Sports Radio has
