(00:21):
Stop in and ask about free testing today. Get in
the zone will Neither team was in the zone in
the first half of last night's Monday Night football game,
which completed Week five of the NFL season. In fact,
by far, I thought the best part of the first
half was the Star Wars preview that was delivered at halftime.

(00:41):
But in the second half book teams got a little
bit hot. Um God. Also in the first half, I
don't remember seeing a quarterback look less like he belonged
on the field than Sam Bradford did near the end
of the first half last night. He couldn't he could
barely walk, and a couple of those acts were just
so uncomfortable. I hope he's gonna be okay, But that

(01:04):
was a kind of situation I saw. Even r G
three tweeted about it. Where the knee is in such
rough shape that I don't know how ever, he was
signed off on to play. I just I felt bad
for him. I felt like he was unable to defend himself.
I felt like late in the half, the final couple
of plays where he went down with the the the

(01:28):
next to last play he had where he went down
basically when he got bumped and just stayed on the ground.
I mean, it was painful to watch. So I don't
know what the deal is with his knee. I don't
know how seriously injured long term he is, but I
have legitimate questions about how in the world the Vikings
cleared him to play in this first half at all,

(01:49):
especially because Case Kingdom came in and played pretty fantastically
in terms of in terms of what he was able
to do in the passing game. Mitch Drobiski was just
media okre, but that's kind of what you expect the
first time a guy plays ever, especially when it's on
Monday Night football and the entire nation is watching him. Through.
A late interception allowed the Vikings to win. But I

(02:12):
would say he was almost exactly what you would anticipate
of a rookie starting his first ever game on Monday
night football. But to me, the biggest storyline, even though
the Vikings are now three and two and maybe they're
still gonna be able to hang on and be a
factor in the NFC North as the Packers obviously look
very good and the Lions have looked very good as well.

(02:35):
Um at times the Vikings getting to three and two
at least staying in the mix as we approached the
second two thirds of the NFL season. But to me,
watching that game, I think the biggest story was how
in the world did Sam Bradford ever get cleared and
play in the first half like he did? Uh? Well.
We had several reactions from the guys involved in the game.

(02:56):
John Fox broke down what he thought of Mitch Drabinsky performance.
I mean, he's got what it takes, you know, There's
no doubt in my mind, you know. Um, And like
I said, it was for a first game, you know.
I go back to, you know, watching guys like you know,
Montana and their first game, you know, so it's up.
I'll see a few of them. Um. I'm not making
comparisons at this point, but he's gonna do nothing but

(03:18):
get better. There's no doubt about that. Ravisky himself talked
about the late interception that cost the Bears the game
against the Vikings. Me trying to do too much, trying
to make a play when I just need to know
the situation, throw the ball away and and play another down.
But I got a lot of faith and uh and
and my receivers out there and and Zach, and I
was just trying to do too much outside of what

(03:40):
I need to do. Just another situation. You know, it's
the first time, throw that ball away and and go play.
So I just forced one. Um, I thought I'd give
him a chance, and that they're doing me to play
so curds at him. But I can't do that. I
can't put my team in that situation just with my presence. Um,
how much I love this game and how much I
love this team, And hopefully that could just motivate some

(04:01):
guys to to play harder. And and I think they
have faith in me. They believe me when I'm in
the huddle and when I'm making players and when things
break down, Uh, they know the plays is never really over.
Anything could happen, and so um, hopefully the way I
work and the way I care myself just lifts others up,
because that's what I'm trying to do and it just
makes playing with these guys so much better, and it
makes a whole process that much more fun. Let's bring

(04:23):
in the crew and get verdicts on Mitch Drabinsky week
one of his career. Jason Martin, what do you think?
I can't wait? Pretty impressed. Um, you know, I saw
him a couple of times last year and I thought
he could make every throw. I really liked his arm,
and I saw some of that last night, even on
the run. Seemed like Gruden, who was always impressed with everybody,

(04:44):
was impressed with watching him on the run. He threw
a couple of really nice balls early in the game.
Obviously the first half was was not good, but it
wasn't because of Mitchell Drabinski. He did a lot of
things that you have to like last night. I didn't
say anything of real note in any of his clips there,
but he the guy that he's got, you know, Cutler
like arm strength. He's got a real cannon for an arm.

(05:06):
He can definitely make every throw he comes across. Like
a really nice guy. We had him on the show
the day he was drafted, as a matter of fact,
by the Chicago Bears. Earlier this year, and he comes
across like a likable guy. We'll have to see, you know.
I don't think he's in a situation where he's with
the head coach he's gonna be with next year. I
don't think John Fox is gonna make it. He may
not even make it through the year, but I don't
think he's gonna be there next year. So there's gonna

(05:28):
be a potentially an entirely new system if they bring
in a new offensive coordinator or do things like that.
But I do think that you've got a guy that
you can build around. I think he's got a pretty
bright future. The game was almost unwatchable, with the exception
of just wanting to see what he could do. The
first half was totally unwatchable. The second half and they
picked up the offensive flow a little bit once Sam
Bradford left, But the first half, we we talked a

(05:50):
lot about why people are why the NFL is having struggles,
and I think certainly the politicization of the NFL is
an issue. I think that so the vast majority of games,
if you don't have good quarterbacks playing the NFL is unwatchable.
I mean, I mean really, and last night Sam Bradford
against Mitch Terbiskie was as bad of a quarterback matchup

(06:14):
in the first half as you could possibly have a
quarterback starting his first game and then another one who
could barely walk, and watching those two teams play, it
really is if you're not a top if you don't
have a top ten quarterback, if you get a great
situation where you have to top ten quarterbacks dueling right uh.
The Packers and the and the Cowboys game was fantastic

(06:39):
because you have Dak Prescott playing at a high level
and you have Aaron Rodgers who might be the most
talented quarterback of all time. The the game between the
Lions and the Panthers was pretty entertaining because Matt Stafford
and Cam Newton are dueling and every single play something
interesting can happen. Most games are not like that now,

(07:01):
and it seems to me every year the lack of
quarterback play continues to decline in terms of the quality
of quarterback play, and that to me is the biggest
threat to the NFL. I mean, outside of larger systematic
threats like CTE and everything associated with that danger to

(07:23):
the brain from playing in the NFL, which I think
long range is gonna make the sport worse because there's
gonna be fewer players, particularly at the quarterback position. But
right now it's almost unwatchable. If you have two bad
quarterbacks in a game. It is as bad of a
of of watchability as I can ever remember in the NFL,

(07:44):
And honestly, I think the gap between entertainment between college
football in the NFL. College football is a lot more
entertaining because on any given snap anything can happen, and
the teams can score any number of points, and you
have a lot more interesting and entertaining offensive systems, and

(08:06):
legitimately anything can happen. The NFL, it's not the case
at all. It sometimes feels like both teams are just
competing not to make mistakes, and as a result, it's
the most boring possible game you can imagine. And the
first half represented every aspect of that in spades. With
beyond the shadow of a doubt, Let's bring in the

(08:29):
l A crew as well. What about Sam Bradford. Can
you believe that he was cleared to play in this
game at all? Yeah, because obviously the Vikings don't trust
Keenum all the way. I mean, he's been up and down.
I felt bad for Bradford, and the first thing I thought,
as a Raiders fan is, oh, man, I hope car
doesn't look like that when he comes back on Sunday,

(08:51):
because you could just tell the way that Bradford was
moving that he should have not been out on the field.
No idea how he ever got cleared to pull. I
mean that the training staff for the Vikings has to
sign off on a guy like that playing, and I
have no idea how they could have possibly seen him
and thought, yeah, this guy is ready to go. Now.

(09:13):
Maybe it's possible that early in the game he got
tweaked uh in some way and that continued to get
worse throughout. But his next a last snap where he
basically got bumped into by his own offensive a linement
and just threw himself on the ground. I don't know
that I've ever seen a quarterback who less belonged on
the field than Sam Bradford in that situation. And then remarkably,

(09:34):
they left him in and he threw a screen pass
on third down to set up the field goal that
gave the Vikings a three to two lead. But I
just I have no idea how he was left out there,
you know, at one when the Bears were losing to
the Vikings three to two, at the same time the
Yankees game was seven to three. I don't have any doubt. Yes,

(09:56):
I mean it is. It's gonna be brutal next Today night,
Jason Martin, what we got to look forward to. We've
got the windless New York Giants who lost their two
top wide receivers for the season at the Denver Broncos.
So Eli Manning walking in to play that defense on
the road in the elevation. So that's not gonna be good.
And then the following night, Monday Night Football just doesn't

(10:19):
get the matchups anymore. Usually you get Sunday Night Football
getting the flex later in the season, but Monday Night Football,
good grief. They've got Titans Colts and possibly and likely
no Marcus Mariota and obviously no Andrew Lux Do you
talk about a bad quarterback matchup last night? How about
Jacoby Brissette versus Matt Castle in primetime a week from yesterday. Yeah,

(10:41):
at least I'll be sitting there paying for that that matchup.
I'll be in person for that one Monday Night football. Yeah,
that that's brutal. I mean, especially when you consider all
the money that's being spent on that, on that situation,
I mean that that is just difficult to reconcile. All Right,
we're gonna do top five Bottom five in the NFL,
kind wrap up NFL Week five. Then we're gonna get

(11:02):
into the mess that has become ESPN. They had to have, you, guys,
seen what's coming out of there. They got top people
comparing NFL players two slaves. Maybe we have the audio
on that. It's unbelievable. Mike Wilbon on p t I.
They just had to suspend Jamal Hill because she called
for a boycott of the NFL and a boycott of

(11:24):
the same advertisers that are advertising on her show and
on ESPN and one of the dumbest tweet storms I've
ever seen in my life. What in the world is happening?
Has the sports media gone insane? I think the answer
is yes. But first, we're gonna do top five bottom five,
the best five in the bottom five of the NFL

(11:45):
as we move up on a third of the way
through the season. In the meantime, here are some other
car laws you might not know about. In Alabama, it's
illegal to drive blindfolded. In Oklahoma, it's illegal to read
comic books while driving, and in Russia it's illegal to
drive a dirt car. Here's something else you might not
know about cars that's really helpful and won't get you
in trouble with the law. True Car also helps people

spending it with us. Here on out kick great news.

Don't let the name fool your Dollar Shavee Club has
way more than just razors. Try their first month starter
set with travel size shape, butter, body cleanser, butt wipes,
and an executive razor, all for just five bucks. After that,

(13:13):
replacement cartridges ship for just a few bucks a month.
Get yours at dollar shape club dot com. Slash out
kick everybody listening on satellite radio. I apologize, even though
it's not my insanely incompetence that has allowed this thing
to drag on for over a month now. My understanding
is all the contracts have been signed, lawyers are involved,

(13:33):
and they're trying to get everything signed off on on
Sirius XM to guarantee that all three hours of the
show are back. So if I were you, guys, I
would uh I, I would be upset. I don't blame you.
Were almost halfway through the college football season and they've
been telling me now for six weeks, Oh, we'll be done,
we'll be done, We'll be done. I have no idea
what's taking so long. The last update I got was

(13:54):
that the lawyers at Sirius XM have the have the
contract to allow us to be on for three hours,
and they're so backed up they can't manage to get
to it. I just I don't get it. So at
thirty minutes after when we flip and and uh, that
other show comes on that nobody watches or listens to.
Then I don't blame you for being upset. I hope

(14:17):
at some point in the near future I'll be able
to come on and say, hey, all three hours are
on in search channel here. But when that's actually gonna happen,
it's frustrating to me that it's not been able to
be done too. So I give you as much news
I possibly can. I understand if you're listening right now
and you're like, oh crap, in nine minutes, we're gonna
flip over to that television show that nobody watches or
listens to, I don't blame you for being upset, and uh,

(14:40):
I apologize to the extent that I control any of
it at all. Know that I continue to ask questions
like what's going on, and uh, I don't know why
the lawyers are taking so long to get this thing done.
I do know this We're a fifth of third of
the way through five weeks through the NFL season, and
it's time for our Tuesday tradition Top five, Bottom five.

(15:05):
Let's start in the bottom five. It's actually getting pretty easy.
I've got the Colts slotted in at the position now.
Positive if you're an NFL fan, is that there are
only four teams worse than two and three. So there
are a lot of teams out there that are two
and three right now, but there are only four that
are worse than two and three. So I've got Indianapolis

(15:27):
the worst of the two and three teams. Speaking of
something that you never quite get an update on, this
is the satellite radio of the NFL. What's going on
with Andrew Luck? When is he actually going to come back?
And if the Colts lose Monday Night Football to the
Titans and the Colts falls to two and four, at
what point do you just say, Okay, let's not even

(15:49):
bring back Luck for next year. I don't know what's
going on there. I think this is one of the
great uncovered stories that hasn't ever really made sense. But
it looks like Andrew Luck is gonna miss his sixth
game of the season. And we don't know how close
he is to actually being able to play. So Andrew
luck in the Indianapolis Colts at twenty nine. I've got
the San Diego Chargers finally got to win. The Bears.

(16:12):
I've got at thirty with mim Ster Biski. At thirty one,
I have got the Giants, and at thirty two, I
have got the sad sack Cleveland Browns. I watched a
decent amount of that game because I actually bet on
the Browns. Yeah, I know, I'm an idiot. I bet
on the Browns against the Jets, and I couldn't believe
how incompetent they were. I just feel bad for Browns fans.

(16:32):
I really do. Top five. The list of sadness is
now over. It's time for the list of happiness. Chiefs
are the best team in the NFL. Alex Smith, as
I told you yesterday, is the m v P through
five weeks. I've got the Packers in at the number
two spot, four and one. Aaron Rodgers seems to be
playing flawlessly. In the third spot. I've got the Carolina
Panthers back to back wins over the New England Patriots

(16:55):
and over the Detroit Lions both on the road. Cam
Newton seems to found the magic that he had in
now that it's seen. It's like two thousand sixteen was
a bad memory for Panthers fans as they surged to
four and one. At three and one, they had a
bye week. I've got the Denver Broncos and again, as
we pointed out, they've got basically what should be a

(17:16):
win against the Giants next week to get him to
four and one and then in the five spot even
though they lost to Buffalo and had a bye week.
I've got Atlanta. Eagles fans are gonna throw up their
hands in dismay, but if you look at who the
Eagles have played, they haven't played as tough of a schedule,
I don't believe as Atlanta has. And if you're an
Eagles fan and you want to be ranked in the

(17:38):
top five, well you play the Panthers this coming week
on Thursday night? I think, am I right about that?
Is that a Thursday night football game? That's a heck
of a good Thursday night football game. Eagles against Panthers
maybe the best game of the weekend. So that is
my top five bottom five. Jason Martin, what differences. Do
you have bottom five? I think we were exactly the same.
I had Colts, Bears, Niners, Giants, rounds uh, the Colts.

(18:01):
It's interesting. There are some reports that say Luck is
back first week in November. If he were to come back,
then let's say they were to get past the Titans
next week. Who knows. Then they played Jacksonville at home
in Cincinnati at home. It's possible they could win two
of those three games. Possible. If they do, then Andrew
Luck could technically come back to a four and four
football team. So that's something to keep in mind. The

(18:23):
forty Niners, this is strange. They have four losses by
eleven total points, none of those losses by more than
a field goal, only the second team in NFL history
to accomplish that feat. Yet they've still lost four football games.
The Giants being the thirty one they gotta be. They
lose Odell Beckham Jr. For the season. They've also now
lost Brandon Marshall for the season. What a hideous game

(18:44):
in terms of injuries for them. And then top five
we are pretty different, not obviously at the top. The
Chiefs are definitely the best team in football right now.
I've got Atlanta at two because I've got green Bay
at three in Atlanta beat green Bay already this season.
Then I've got Philadelphia at four and are Line at five.
I do agree. Thursday Night's matchup is actually a can't
miss Thursday night football game for the first time in

(19:06):
a long time, I guess, the first time since the
Patriots Chiefs to open the season. That's gonna be a
heck of a matchup. I don't think they knew it
was gonna be this good when they got it lined up,
but that's a really, really good football game on a
weekend that does not have a whole lot of appetizing matchups. Yeah. No,
I mean I think it's the best. I think it's
the best NFL game of the week, and it will
be on Thursday night. So we got that to look

(19:27):
forward to as we start to pivot towards Week six.
Al Right, bringing the crew in l A. Anybody you
think has been disrespected in our top five bottom five, Well,
I was gonna point out the Eagles, but Jason has
that in his top five. I have the Chiefs, the Packers,
the Eagles, the Broncos, and then the Panthers rounding it
out of five. Yeah, So I mean we're starting to
get some degree of consistency here as we go top five,

(19:48):
bottom five and kind of makes sense of the universe.
You know what's not making sense. Let's pivot here a
little bit, because I am blown away every day. Well,
let's go ahead and actually it's go ahead and bring
in the r C. Let's bring in Eddie Garcia. Get
an update on what's going on in the Major League
Baseball playoffs and elsewhere. Uh, Eddie, what's up? My man
makes sense of the makes sense of the world of

(20:09):
sports for us, well, Clay in postseason baseball, we've got
two teams moving on, two teams eliminated. Let's start with
Game three of the National League Division Series, where the
Dodgers beat the Domondbacks three to one. Cody bell andretta
home run drove into Hugh darbish Gets to win, Kenley
Jansen to save l A sweeps the series from Arizona
to advance to the National League Championship Series. Also Game
four American League Division Series, Astros beat the Red Sox

(20:31):
in Boston five to four. Houston scored two in the
eighth one of the ninth off of Boston closer Craig
Kimball the rally for the win. Justin Verlander gets the
victory in relief for Houston's now oh and O excuse
me eight no it since joining the Astros. Houston wins
that series three to one and advances to the American
League Championship Series. Well so. At Game four a l
DS in New York, Yankees stay alive with the seventh
three win over the Indians. New York jumped out to

(20:52):
a five nothing lead, chasing starter Trevor Bauer for Cleveland
last years and ending of two thirds Aaron Judge and
Rogan two runs, Gary Sanchez at a solo homer. That's
is is tied to tow a deciding game fives Wednesday
in Cleveland and Game three n LTS Cubs good by
the Nationals two to one. Anthony Rizzo brok one one
tie with an eighth banning RBI single that was a difference.
Chicago grabs at two one series edge and Clay Monday

(21:13):
Night Football Vikings beat the Bears seventeen story thistening was
Chicago rookie quarterback Mitchell Trobiski and his first NFL starretd.
He completed twelve hundred twenty yards one touchdown, but it
was his costly interception late in the fourth quarter that
costs him the game. Keeping his own territory, Minnesota converted
into a twenty six yard field goal with twelve seconds
to play. I believe, Eddie, if I'm correcting this, this

(21:33):
will be an update probably for tomorrow. We play, meaning
we meaning the United States soccer team, which I didn't
really talk about but had an amazing win on Friday
where Poi Sick was unstoppable. We played Trinidad and Tobago
Tobago Tobago tonight, right with an opportunity to punch our
ticket to I believe Russia. Is that correct? We definitely

(21:54):
do play Trinidad and Tobago tonight, but off to get
the the implications, you gotta be on ball for then
X when you gotta have the implications of the soccer match.
I believe that if we tie, we're basically in. If
we win, we're officially in. So I think that happens,
so will officially be ready for Russia. There was some
uncertainty about that coming into Friday's game against I believe Panama.

(22:14):
So if you're a soccer person, this would be nice
to go ahead and get that ticket punched, all right,
speaking of UH significance, every day, am I alone in
this that I feel like the country is going a
little bit more insane? And yesterday I tried to be like,
I feel like I'm the voice of a reason out there.
The country is actually not in that bad as shape

(22:38):
right now. The stock market basically at an all time high,
unemployments at basically an all time low. Certainly, according to
the Census Bureau, Americans have never made more money per
capita than we are right now. Yes, there's constantly feuding
going on in the UH, in the Donald Trump administration.

(23:01):
In fact, I saw last night right before I was
I was preparing, and I don't know. I mean, it's
possible that Donald Trump has started war with North Korea
while we were on the air this morning. So I
don't know what he's tweeted in general, But last night
he tweeted about this Jerry Jones situation where Jerry Jones
came out, Do we have any audio yet at Jerry Jones?
We don't, do we like he still keeps talking to

(23:23):
people and they don't turn their tape recorders on. I
don't really understand how that's happening. Uh. Donald Trump has
sent a bunch of Okay, I said, he's already come
after the NFL again. Trump tweeted seventeen minutes ago, why
is the NFL getting massive tax breaks while at the
same time disrespecting our anthem, flag and country change tax law? Uh?

(23:45):
And last night he tweeted a big salute to Jerry Jones,
owner of the Dallas Cowboys, who will bench players who
disrespect our flag, stand for anthem, or sit for game.
Donald Trump has gotten really kind of apped up in
the overall politicization of the NFL. And I don't know
whether it's Trump because on some level, like Trump is

(24:07):
just kind of playing to his base, right. Uh, he's
doing politics a little bit differently, certainly than it's ever
been done before. But I don't get that worked up
one way or the other about Donald Trump and what
he tweets. I understand the media like it's catnip. They
can't not cover it. But I do think that Trump
is slowly driving a lot of people insane. And you
have to keep in mind that the way you respond

(24:29):
to someone can say as much about you as it
does them, And so ESPN yesterday morning. First of all,
I went down to Birmingham and spoke at the Birmingham
Quarterback Club. Great event, great work that they do down there,
raising money for the Children's Hospital. Um just a an
awesome venue, great event and uh and that was a

(24:51):
lot of fun to go to. But this morning, yesterday morning,
on my drive down, I was scrolling through Twitter and
a bunch of you hagged me on tweets that Jamal
Hill was sending about these comments made by Jerry Jones.
And look, I said, yesterday, we talked about it quite
a bit in the show in the morning. You have

(25:11):
a right as an owner to respond under your First
Amendment rights. Just like your players can protest, you can
respond to their protest. That's how the First Amendment works.
And I don't know why people just don't understand that.
But Jamal Hill took to Twitter and she tweeted as follows, um,

(25:32):
change happens when advertisers are impacted. She started this play
always work. Uh, change happens when advertisers are impacted. If
you still feel strongly about Jerry Jones's statement, boycott his advertisers.
And then she tweeted out a list of several of
the Dallas Cowboy advertisers including A T and T, Bank

(25:56):
of America, Dr Pepper, Snapple, and Ford Ford Motor Group obviously,
and I was like totally blown away when I saw
this because what I immediately thought when I saw this
is does she understand that that's how her salary is paid?

(26:16):
I tweeted out as follows immediately after I saw these. Uh,
this tweet um ESPN's entire future as a business is
tied to the NFL. Without the NFL, the company dies,
and they have employees calling for advertiser Boycott's amazing. And
then I followed it up with calling the president, his

(26:36):
staff and voters all white supremacists. Is infinitely worse than
Jerry Jones wanting to stand wanting players to stand for
the anthem. But more importantly, as I also tweeted, those
advertisers advertise on Jamal hills show. They literally are the
people who make her show profitable and allow her network

(26:57):
to exist. It's one of the dumb miss things I've
ever seen somebody in sports media tweet well. As a result,
ESPN suspended Jamal Hill for two weeks and they said
as follows, Jamal Hill has been suspended for two weeks
for a second violation of our social media guidelines. The
first violation was calling the president a white supremacist, calling

(27:20):
everyone who surrounds him a white supremacist, calling his voters
white supremacist, and saying the only reason Donald Trump got
elected was because his white, because he was white. She
previously acknowledged letting her colleagues and company down with an
impulsive tweet. In the aftermath, all employees were reminded of
how individual treat tweets may reflect negatively on ESPN and

(27:42):
that such actions would have consequences. Hint this decision now,
I want to open up the phone lines eight seven
seven six three six nine, but this is not it. Now.
Al Sharpton, he of the failed to pay tax bills,
has now said that he is going to protest ESPNS
protest he tweeted, Al Sharpton did ESPN suspension of Jamal

(28:07):
Hill is an outrage and Al Sharpton is always outraged
and should not go on, answered ESPN and advertisers will
hear from us. Now ESPN, which is decided to go
far left wing, is now going to feel the raft
of the far left wing because in this country, to
this day, and age. Nobody's ever happy despite the fact

(28:29):
that the country has literally never been in better shape.
When you look at the stock market, when you look
at the unemployment rate, and when you look at average
per capita income, the country has literally never been better
for more people than it is right now. Everybody's angry.
I don't know if it's because social media is driving
everyone slowly insane. I think there's maybe some truth to that.

(28:50):
But then after all, this Mike Wilbon, who usually I love,
you know, with on with Tony Cornhouers on PT I
fairly reasonable. I he decided to go on and compare
NFL players two slaves working on a plantation. This actually
happened on ESPNS airwaves yesterday. Listen to this clip. And

(29:12):
he got down in linked arms and all this stuff,
and he said, but I wanna honor the anthem, and
I understand that, and it seemed like that was where
he was going. But now it just seems like it
was as phony as a three dollar bill. And the
word that comes to my mind, I don't care who
doesn't like me using it is plantation. The players are
here to serve me, and they will do what I want,
no matter how much I pay them. They are not

(29:35):
equal to me. That's what this says to me and
mine and I want to know where the players are
gonna go. Multimillion dollar NFL players are slaves on a plantation.
Has the country lost its mind? What in the world
is Mike Wilbon staying how many of you right now
would sign up to play NFL football and work on

(29:58):
that plantation to pee? Will not understand the difference between
being a boss and being an employee. You work when
you are an employee at the orders of your boss.
You don't have to have that job. The difference between
a slave on a plantation and an NFL player on
a football team is guess what. The NFL player doesn't

(30:21):
have to do it. They don't have to do it.
They aren't slaves. They can go find any other job
in America that they want. If they don't want to
be paid millions of dollars to play football, that's the
that's their right. You don't have to play football? Am
I taking crazy pills? Here? We got ESPN employees calling

(30:42):
for boycotts of their own advertisers, of their own league partner,
and being so dumb that they don't realize what they're doing,
and other prominent ESPN employees saying that NFL players are
working on a plantation. Were there lots of people during
slavery days who were trying to get hired to be slaves?
Was that? Was that an ideal job? Were there people

(31:04):
showing up at the plantation saying, please let me work
here and pay me millions of dollars to play a
sport for a living. Because if that's true, then my
whole understanding of slavery is different. Instead of jumping over
a broom and getting one pair of pants and a
rope for a belt, maybe these slaves were living in
plantation houses themselves, driving fancy horses, living the American dream

(31:29):
back in eighteen fifty. Maybe I just have got the
wrong read of American history going on. Maybe there were
people lined up saying, please let me come work on
this plantation, Please please please make me rich and let
me go pick cotton. Please please please let me go
out into the tobacco fields and slowly waste away so

(31:50):
that I can make millions of dollars in the tobacco plantations.
Maybe I've missed it. Maybe Mike Wilbon's right. Play that
clip again I feel I'm taking crazy pills. He just
compared NFL multimillion dollar players who have a choice about
whether or not they are employed on NFL teams two
slaves on a plantation. Listen again, and he got down

(32:14):
in linked arms and all this stuff, and he said,
but I wanna honor the anthem, and I understand that,
And it seems like that was where he was going.
But now it just seems like it was as phony
as a three dollar bill. And the word that comes
to my mind, I don't care who doesn't like me
using it is plantation. The players are here to serve me,
and they will do what I want no matter how
much I pay them. They are not equal to me.

(32:37):
That's what this says to me and mine. And I
want to know where the players are gonna go. The
boss is always more equal than the employees. In every
place in America, the guy or girl who owns a
company is more equal than the people who work for
the guy or girl. The boss gets to decide what

(32:58):
the rules are. That's literally how American capitalism works. If
you don't like working for a boss, guess what. You
don't have to stay a slave. You don't have to
stay in that job. You can leave, you can go
find an employment elsewhere. Eight seven seven nine nine, six
six three six nine. ESPN suspends Jamal Hill. It was

(33:20):
the right decision. I'll talk about that more. Mike Wilbon
has lost his mind? Has the sports media in general
lost its mind? Has everyone in this country gone crazy?
But me? I feel like it? Eight seven seven nine
six three six nine Your reactions, Final segment Our one.
I'm the King Solomon of the Internet and the radio,

(33:41):
the last man with any sense. I feel like in
a country that's gone bat blank crazy. This is out
kicked the coverage. What does it mean when Geico says
just fifteen minutes could save you fifteen per cent or
more on car insurance? It means you probably should have
gone to geico dot com fifteen minutes ago. Donald Trump,
this is real, President of the United States, just tweeted

(34:04):
five minutes ago with Jamal Hill at the mic. It's
no wonder ESPN ratings have tanked, in fact, tank so badly.
It is the talk of the industry. Exclamation point. You
want to talk about a company that is royally screwed,
it's ESPN. Right now they're getting slammed by both sides

(34:25):
of the political equation. They got a guy on their
most popular show saying that NFL players are slaves on
a plantation, and they got the President of the United
States slamming their ratings, correctly pointing out that they have
been collapsing of late as the business model is collapsing. Uh.

(34:45):
It is an unbelievable situation to find themselves in. I
think they made the right decision with Jamal Hill, and
I think the reason why you have to make that
decision is basic. You can't attack the business that you're
involved in. The fact that, again I said last night
on my OutKick the Coverage show, I don't know if

(35:07):
she doesn't understand how she makes money. This is one
of my advice, one of the points of advice that
I give everybody out there, right. I tell all of you,
I say, figure out how the business that you're in works.
How do you make money? How does your company make money?
Because it will make you a better employee because you
have to the two ways to think. Two ways to

(35:27):
think in life. You can think like an employee or
you can think like an owner. And if you think
like an employee, you're always out there just waiting for
the next paycheck, and that's fine. It's a lot less
stressful to know that somebody else is making your payments,
that somebody else has taken the taxes out, that every

(35:48):
two weeks you're gonna get a check. There's a lot
of people who would prefer that. Or you can think
like an owner. I think like an owner business owner.
You don't necessarily know what you're gonna make at every
two weeks. You don't necessarily know what you're gonna make
every month. You don't necessarily know what you're gonna make
every year. There's a lot more risk involved, a lot

(36:08):
more stress. You've got to make sure that those checks
go out to your employees. You've got to make sure
that you're able to maintain a successful business. When you
think like an owner, you look at the bigger picture.
You have an understanding and comprehension over how your business works.
And I think that most people don't know how their

(36:31):
business works. So when I saw Jamal Hill's tweet calling
for a boycott of the Dallas Cowboys, the NFL, and
the very advertisers who support ESPN's business, when I saw
that she had attacked the advertising basis which supports ESPNS existence,
and also the NFL, which ensures more important than any

(36:52):
other partnership, ensures that that ESPN is relevant because if
you took away Monday Night football and you took away
all the studio programming associated with the NFL, ESPN would
cease to exist as a business anywhere near what it
does now. It might cease to exist as a business
period because I think everybody would drop ESPN if they

(37:14):
didn't have NFL programming at all. That because the NFL,
by far, is the straw that stirs the drink in
the American sporting consciousness. So when I saw that, I said,
ESPN doesn't have any other options. They have to at
least suspender or they have to fire her. And frankly,
I think they should have fired her over the white
supremacist comments because they set that precedent with Kurt Schilling.

(37:37):
Now I can defend the decision not to suspend over
political comments. Right to me, this is worse because it
directly goes to the business of ESPN. And now we've
got the President weighing in and literally Donald Trump just tweeted,
maybe he's listening. If you're listening, call in President Trump
at eight seven seven six three six line. Or if

(38:00):
you're in the Trump White House and you're listening with
Jamal Hill at the mic, it's no wonder ESPN ratings
have tanked, in fact, tank so badly. It is the
talk of the industry. I love to get the president
on eight seven seven nine six three six nine. In
the meantime, we're just out here dominating. Was the most
successful sports talk radio show in the country. Thank you

(38:21):
for spending your morning with us. Everybody calling in weighing in.
Let's go to William. Who's up first? Who should we
go to first? Jason Martin? Are we go to William
in Cincinnati? William in Cincinnati? What's up? William? Hey? What's up?
My man? I love you show man. Let's do every morning.
Thank you and I Jamal Hill was dead wrong on

(38:43):
what you get. I didn't have a problem with the
first tweet, which on the personal because it only affected
her and a little bit. Yeah, so see, I agree
with you. Yeah, I agree with you. There. Let me
let me pause. There, I do agree that saying you
know what we may need to go. How a time
we got left, guys, like thirty seconds, one minute? You
keep talking? William you, let's put you on hold. I

(39:05):
want to be able to get all the calls that
I can, so let's go ahead and load up the
phone lines. Eight seven seven nine six three six nine.
I was just looking at the clock. For those of
you out there who don't know, we have a heart
out at the end of every hour. So it's a
lot of times people are like, why are you so
quick with caller as well, because we have to get
out at a specific time. So guess what we can
make advertising money. I ain't gonna say anything bad about
my advertisers, trust me. I appreciate the fact that they

(39:27):
support the show. So we gotta get out at a
hard out here at the end of the first hour.
We will begin hour two with further discussion of this.
I'll take all your calls, load them up for Jason
Martin eight seven seven nine six six three six nine.
President Trump, you go ahead and call in as well,
or anybody at Trump White House will put you at
the front of the line. Eight seven seven nine six
six three six nine Hour two coming up. Next hour two,
we'll talk to Alex Marvez, get a picture of the

(39:50):
NFL season as well. All that and more. I am
Clay Travis, thank you for spending your Tuesday with us.
The President included here on out Kick coming to you
Alive from the guy oh out Kicks Studios. Fifteen minutes
could save you fifteen per cent or more on car insurance.
Visit Geico dot com for a free rate quote as

the zone here hour too often running out kick the coverage.
I hope your Tuesday morning is going spectacularly well. My
name is Clay Travis. Thank you for hanging out with us,
as we believe potentially the President does. We think the

(40:32):
President may now be a morning listener based on the
tweets that he is sending out. UH. Last night, Mr
Bisky makes his debut. UH looks okay. UH. The Chicago
Bears go down seen with a loss to the UH.
Minnesota Vikings. Vikings stay in the mix in the NFC North.
We'll talk with that talk with Alex Marvez about that
debut here in a little bit in this hour as

(40:54):
he joins us every single Tuesday to break down the
weekend that was the NFL. But we are talking right
now eight seven seven, three six nine about the situation
going on right now in ESPN, and I want to
play this clip for you again. Jamal Hill suspended for
saying that NFL should be boycotted, in particular Jerry Jones

(41:17):
and the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones having the audacity to
say that players should stand for the anthem. This then
leads Michael Wilbon on p t I to lose his
mind and compare NFL players to plantation slaves. Here is
Mike Wilbon yesterday afternoon on Pardon the Interruption. He got
down in linked arms and all this stuff, and he said,

(41:38):
but I wanna honor the anthem, and I understand that,
and it seems like that was where he was going.
But now it just seems like it was as phony
as a three dollar bill. And the word that comes
to my mind, I don't care who doesn't like me
using it is plantation. The players are here to serve
me and they will do what I want, no matter
how much I pay them. They're not equal to me.

(41:59):
That's what assays to me and mine and I want
to know where the players are gonna go. That is
Mike Wilbo and making one of the most ridiculous arguments
in the history of American sports television complaint comparing multimillion
dollar athletes in the NFL with slaves on a plantation.
You need to go back and listen to my rant
at the end of the first hour about how that's

(42:20):
an absurdly stupid comment. Now, uh, as that as all
happening in an hour one. Donald Trump weighs in on
Twitter with Jamal Hill at the Mike. It is no
wonder ESPN ratings have tanked, in fact, tank so badly.
It is the talk of the industry. We think Trump
might be listening. Jason Martin, do you think Donald Trump

(42:40):
listens to the show? Ever? I think somebody around is.
I don't necessarily say that it's him, but somebody in
the administration is listening to this, even get him on
the show. What do you think, l A, do you
think Donald Trump is listening? I'm sure he is. So
you're sold, Robert, You're sold that he's listening to kick
in the morning. Sometimes I think he's in the Oval office.

(43:02):
He's got his beats by Dre headphones on and he's
he's wearing a d baps. He's wearing a de BAP
shirt right now. Yeah, outkicked gear. Need to get him
a de BAP shirt for sure. All Right, we got
loaded lines. Who should we go to? We were talking
to who was at the top of the list here,
Jason Martin. Unfortunately William and Cincinnati dropped off. That's who
we were going to go back to. We do have
one person on the line and wants to call you

(43:22):
a clown. Let's always let's go to Who's that? That's
Felicia in Oakland, Felicia and Oakland, Felicia. You think I'm
a clown? Yeah? Yeah? Do you think I'm a clown? Felicia? Yes?
I do. Why do you think I'm a clown? I
think you're a oh Man, is a racist clown worse

(43:46):
than the clown on it? Who's like a serial killing clown?
Or is it better to be like? What do you
think is better the clown on it or me the
racist clown? So what do you think? What do you
think I'm racing? How am I a racist clown. Oh,
first of all, you had your little comment about Will
Burns makes this plantation re mark? So you think NFL

(44:06):
players are basically slaves on a plantation? You think it's
an accurate comment? Anybody, I'm a I'm a I'm a veteran.
That flag is just a symbol. That flag. What it
represents to you, what it means to anybody else. Everybody
has a different idea of that flag. To Felicia, where
do you work down? Where do you work out? The
black woman? Yeah, I'm sorry, you're retired, so you have

(44:28):
no job. So when you were in the military, Felicia,
when you were in the military and they said, hey,
we need you need to be here at seven am?
Was that like being on a plantation? If I had
to be there at seven am? I do what I do.
I do with my job requires of me. So is
that like? So, is that the equivalent of being a
slave if you do what your boss says? Death flag
symbolizes to me land of the thief and home of

(44:52):
the slaves. That's what that flag means to me. Well,
so you think that the NFL players are slaves, I
agree with them. He didn't call it NFL players place.
He said the mentality of Darry Jones telling them that
they're gonna that they can't kneel. I fought for them
to have that right to me. All right, So, Felicia,
you think you think that it's racist of me to

(45:14):
think that people should stand for the national anthem? You
can think what you want, But so what am I
doing that you said I was Felicia, you said I
was a racist clown. I'm just trying to figure out. Oh,
you think that me calling Will bon out having an
opinion of his opinion makes me a racist clown? You
want to demil suspended or fire. When she made that
Trump comment, it's her freedom of spiece to make that comment.

(45:37):
You don't have you don't. I don't think you understand
how freedom of speech works. You don't have the right
at your job. There's consequences of freedom of speech. But
it's her freedom of speech and she didn't do any
being wrong and calling him out. He is what he is.
He's a white supremacist. Oh you think Trump's a white
supremacis to who's not racist? Who's a white guy that
you think? You know what? That white guy is not racist?

(45:58):
Are all white men racist. I've never had a thing
like that. I don't go around I don't I don't
wait coming my day doing that. But you called that
and called me. You said I'm a racist clown. You
said Donald Trump's a white supremacist. I'm just asking you,
who's a white guy that you think is not racist.
I've got I've got plenty of them. Aren't racist? Name one.

(46:20):
It's not gonna be somebody you though, because if you
don't know the same people, I don't know, what do
you mean? Name one? I mean publicly, you don't know me.
You don't know me, and you're comfortable calling me a racist.
You don't know Donald Trump, and you're comfortable. Colleague, you
heard me enough to know that I'm racist. Yeah you are.
What do I do to advance the cause of white people? Oh?

(46:45):
You know what you probably do? I do? You know,
it's usually on Tuesday's I don't do it. But on
Mondays and Wednesdays and Thursdays we do have the KKK meeting,
and a lot of times, I'll be honest with you
in the studio, I wear my hood. I just sit
here and I wear my hood, and then sometimes I
get a little bit hot and I take my hood off. Yeah,
well to sit out a picture of me sitting at

(47:07):
the mic in my KKK hood. The modern day racist
you don't have. You don't have that to be a baby.
You don't need a hood. So what's my goal? You
think I got into sports talk radio to subjugate black
people and bring back slavery. Yeah, huh, you might be
if you give you give you an opportunity to say
what you want to say, and you can't say it

(47:29):
because if you did, there was if you was in
uh if the stuff you say, if you were in
front of a whole group of black people, you would
not say it face to say, but I would. If
any group of black people wants to have me as
a speaker, I will show up and say the exact
same thing that I say on the radio that I
would say to that. Come on, come on then, Felicia,
what do you think should happen to me? Sul they

(47:49):
put me in jail. Hey, I'm not here to judge you.
I'm just telling you what I think of you that
you can't say. I'm not here to judge you. I'm
here to tell you what I think of you. That's
called judging when you call in and calls racist my opinion,
so hate Felicia. How many people out there do you
think are slaves right now? How many people work on plantations?

(48:11):
In your mind? God, the whole the whole country is
a slave under under Donald Trump. The whole country is
slave under Donald Trump. Oh, it's interesting with his mentality.
That's what we are now, all slaves, even white people too,
or just black people's white slaves to white slaves too.
About Hispanic and Asiana, that slag. You getting way off point.

(48:35):
You just want to go on the racist because what
I think you are. But just because that flag means
that's to you as a black woman that fought for
this country. That's not what that flag means to me.
Because you're you're but you're calling in. That's a different argument,
you understand, than saying Mike Wilbon, you're trying to defend
Mike Wilbon saying that, like the plantation mentality, you're taking
it out of contact. What he said, Mike, what Mike

(48:57):
Wilbon he said beforehand. Some people are going to be
upset that that we gonna we're gonna have to hang
up on Felicia. Thank you, Felicia, Thanks for the service.
You know. Here's the deal when you compare modern day
multimillion dollar athletes to the plantation before slavery was ended.

(49:19):
I'm not taking it out of context. That's the analogy
that you chose to apply. Michael Wilbon. I'm responding to
your analogy. Nine nine percent of people right now driving
to work to bust their asses all day long in

(49:40):
all fifty states would trade places with the NFL players
and play football for their salary. Ninety nine point nine
nine of all of you driving to work right now
are making less money than those guys are. And you
have to spawn to a boss, and you have to

(50:01):
be somewhere at the time that your prescribed to be
there right That is your job nine percent of you.
I'm not an expert on what the thought process was
in eighteen fifty five America, but I feel fairly confident
that ninety nine point nine of people living in America

(50:25):
in eighteen fifty five would not have signed up to
change places with slaves. Therefore, your analogy and your comparison
is insulting, lee dumb to anyone with a functional brain.
You can say that you believe players should stand the
fact that or not stand the fact that an owner

(50:47):
has a different opinion than a player is how the
First Amendment works. Jerry Jones disagrees with players kneeling. He
has a right to share his opinion, just like the
player has a right to share his opinion. Moreover, requirements
for your job are not slavery. Go read a book,

(51:10):
you alliterate historical sons of bitches, You could not stop
being a slave if you were upset. Do you know
what happened? Then? You got whipped with the cat of
nine tales. You got put in a dank hole and
fed porridge through a hole in the ground. That, my friends,

(51:34):
is not the same consequences that exist. If somebody today decides,
you know what, I don't feel like I'm being treated fairly,
I think I'll stop making millions of dollars to play
football and go get another job, or found your own business,
or do whatever the hell you want. You have absolute
freedom in this country to pursue any avenue of income

(51:57):
that you so desire, whether you want to, in any
way possible. That is the exact opposite of slavery. Moreover, frankly,
it's insulting to anyone who was ever a slave. Imagine
if we can go back in time. If we got
in the dock and Marty McFly DeLorean and we drove

(52:20):
all the way back to slavery times, and we took
Michael Bennett with us, and Michael Bennett sitting beside us,
and I'm like, hey, Michael, let's chill, let's set the
let's set the clock here. We're going back in time, baby.
And we pulled up at a plantation and Michael Bennett
climbed out and we took a slave there. And I said,

(52:41):
Michael Bennett or Michael Wilbon, since you think modern day
NFL is the equivalent of slavery, let's do us flip.
You be a slave for a week, and we'll take
a slave and we'll let him play football for a week.
If I picked up a slave left behind, Michael Bennett
picked up a slave that changed clothes my coll Bennett
put on the one pair of pants, put on the rope,

(53:03):
didn't he gave up his shoes, doesn't have any shoes,
puts on his only shirt that he owns. And I'm like,
all right, Michael Bennett, you're gonna be a slave for
a week. I'm gonna take this dude here, We're gonna
go back in time, back to the future, and he's
gonna play on the defensive line for the Seattle Seahawks
for a week. Now. He probably wouldn't be very good
because he didn't really know how to play football. But

(53:24):
do you think that slave would get to America in
the future and he would go to Mike Michael Bennett's house,
probably a multimillion dollar house somewhere outside of Seattle, and
he'd sleep in his incredible bed, and he'd drive in
his luxury vehicle, and he would have when he got
to the facility with the Seahawks, he would have loaded meals.

(53:46):
He'd be able to eat whatever he wants all day long,
and all he'd have to do is sit around and
watch some film on television of a game that was
gonna be played on Sunday. And all he'd have to do,
he wouldn't even get hit. All he'd have to do
is just walk around and think about the game plan.
Do you think when that slave went back at the

(54:07):
end of his first day and when he got the
paycheck midway through the week, do you think he would
he would contemplate and say, man, America in the future sucks.
This reminds me a lot of what I've been doing
back in eighteen fifty five. Or do you think he
might believe, my god, America is going to become an
unbelievable country. I can get filthy rich to play a game. Meanwhile,

(54:31):
do you think Michael Bennett back in eighteen fifty five
South Carolina, toiling away on a rice plantation or a
cotton plantation might have a different impression of what advantages
he has in a modern day life. Do you think
if Mike Wilbon went back in time and saw actual slavery,

(54:52):
that he would compare it to modern day plantations, or
do you think he would be like, you know, I'm
an idiot. This is one of the dumbest things that
anybody in life could ever say. I apologize to all
of you for making the dumbest analogy in the history
of sports on television. I am a knucklehead. I apologize.

(55:15):
I think probably that the slave and Michael Bennett, or
the slave and Mike Wilbon probably would have an eye
opening experience in both directions. And I don't think anybody
out there would be like, you know, what modern day
NFL football is a lot like being on a plantation.
I think the very idea would be so laughably absurd

(55:37):
and insulting that nobody would ever make the comparison again.
But what do I know. I'm just the most sane
man in America. Up next, Alex Marvez, we break down
the NFL. This is outkicked the coverage. Great news. Quick
way you could save money, switched to Geico, to Geico
dot com and in fifteen minutes you could say fifteen
percent or more on car insurance. Gotta apologize, big time

(55:59):
apology for me, so all of you out there listening
in all fifty states. I blew it. I totally should
have said by Felicia to Felicia, and I feel like
that was such a perfect ending to that call, and
the fact that I didn't do it means that I
have to apologize to all of you for blowing it.

(56:22):
Perfect ending to that call would have just been by Felicia,
bang hang up on her. Didn't do it. It's on me.
I failed. I apologize to all of you. This NFL
discussion with Alex Marvez brought to you by our friends
at True Car. With True Car, you can find out

(56:44):
in now, Alex Marvez, Alex, the NFL. Let's talk about
on the field results and then we'll maybe get into
the absurdity that is the off the field NFL right now,
but let's start on the field. Last night, Monday Night football, Alex.
I don't know that I've ever seen a quarterback like
Sam Bradford looked like he was less able to defend himself.

(57:04):
How in the world did he get okay to play? Yeah?
I know, and then and keeping him on the field
as well. I mean, you know, you know what it
reminded me of. And you know, it's like watching a
little kid whose parents is forcing them to go out
there and play a sport. Right, And I was expecting
I was expecting at anytime, saying Bradford's up truck on
his shoes. He looked like he was He looked like

(57:24):
he was in pain. The other thing about it too, physically,
he doesn't look right play. He's lost so much weight,
hasn't he? I mean, and not like this was a
huge guy to begin with. But you know, it almost
was like the rib protector he was wearing was the
was the dominant part of his body, right, I mean,
he just he didn't look like he even filled into
his uniform like he did earlier on and after an
offseason and lifting weights. I mean, this guy looked bad.

(57:46):
I was stunned that he made it as long as
he did, especially now since, hey, case Keenum might be
the best bargain in the NFL. You look at a
team like Mike Glennon that decides to throw eighteen million
dollars with the Chicago Bears rather to Mike Lennon eighteen
million some of these other teams. Jay Cutler, your man
ten million dollars with the Miami Dolphins. Well, suddenly case
Keenum a two million dollars. He's actually leading the Minnesota

(58:06):
Vikings to victory. So did a great job there. By
the way, what a difference with Rabisky and Glenna. I mean,
Mitch has a live arm. This guy can throw the football.
One more thing about this game, by the way, Clay
Jerome Boger, I'm my deathbed. I'm gonna remember him and
his crew taking minutes away from my life with how
that a game was officiated last night. It was so

(58:27):
painfully slow and just so many stoppages. I'm talking like
this because that's how it felt to watch it. I
started off the show saying that one of the one
of the big discussion points has been why are NFL
ratings down? I think that the NFL product, when you
don't have a great quarterback, and we'll get to talking

(58:48):
about some of the great quarterbacks, is as bad as
it has ever been. I don't know if you watched
much of the Dolphins and the Titans. I don't know
if you watched much of the of the Browns against
the at I mean, this was unwatchable, worse than like
D three football. I mean because I compare college in

(59:08):
NFL A lot college football games, by and large, anything
can happen. They are so much more in the average
college football game is so much more entertaining than the
average NFL game. Now, if you've got a great game
like the Cowboys going up against obviously the Packers this
past weekend, or you've got maybe uh going a Cam
Newton against Matthew Stafford, two really good quarterbacks, it's like

(59:32):
a different game is being played. But if you don't
have two quarterbacks who were very good or even one.
They really shouldn't even play the games. They should just
flip a coin and let everybody say three hours of
their lives run WI right, I mean, do something a
little bit different. My dad, Alex is seventy two years old.
He's gonna turn seventy three next a week. He came
over to my house after that Titans Dolphins game and

(59:54):
said it was the worst football game he's ever watched.
And over fifty years of being a football fan, that's
I mean, that's how bad it was. That's after we're cleared,
after liquor cabina. Try to forget all, forget about exactly.
I know you're right about that. Well, listen to the NFL,
you know, cutting off its nose despite its face. You know,
we think about NFL Europe and we think about guys
who came out of a system where they were developing

(01:00:15):
quarterbacks and gave these guys a chance to play. You know,
Jake Delom took a team to a Super Bowl. Kurt
Warner is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Jay
Fiedler is still the winningest quarterback in the post day
Marino era for the Miami Dolphins. I mean guys came
out of there that you had and if they weren't
necessarily starters, they were backups, and you had a feeder
system to try to help players adjust to the pro

(01:00:37):
style game. Guys who just needed a little bit more
time and they needed a trying ground. Well, there is
no such developmental league. And teams can talk about virtual
reality all they want and putting a visor on a
guy and simulating you know, the snap and things like that.
They could talk about explaining the practice squads. But until
they give these guys a chance to play at a
professional level like this, I think the Dreggie quarterback play

(01:00:58):
is going to continue. I just don't see the NFL
being able to adopt too much of the college style
offenses because you know, the guys are so much bigger
at the NFL level. They're going to sustain injury. Quarterbacks
aren't going to survive an entire season if you're playing
you know, different things with a running quarterback, mobile quarterback, etcetera.
You know usually, but I mean play that this is
a league wide problem. Yet there are no plans to

(01:01:20):
my knowledge, to launch developmental league. And it looks like
it's going to just continue. It's it's a mess. It's
an absolute and total mess. Let's talk about the positive side.
Aaron Rodgers I came on the show Monday and said,
I think he's the most talented quarterback to ever play
in the NFL. Doesn't mean he's the most accomplished, certainly,
but I think he's the most talented. Have you ever
seen anything like in all the years you're covering the
NFL what Aaron Rodgers is capable of right now? You

(01:01:42):
know what? It reminds me of a little bit. And
it's not at the same level. But you know, when
when we were growing up play, I think you're you're
around my age. I'm forty six. I'm not trying to
eat age you too much. Maybe you still want to
be part of that sports business journal forty under forty
or whatever, you know. But but my point is that
like whenever Roger Staubach had the football with two minutes
left while in the Dallas Cowboys in the seventies early eighties,
when I was a kid, you knew they were gonna win, right,

(01:02:04):
I mean, and he was just you know, he was
going to rip the heart out of the opponent. Raise
it to the sun so it rises again in the
morning and win the game. Well, you know, in this
case with Aaron Rodgers, most teams, when you look at
the situation that they were in against at the end
of the game against the Dallas Cowboys, they're playing for
the field goal, and a lot of it is because
they don't trust their quarterback. Right, I mean to make
that decision that, Okay, we're gonna have enough time on

(01:02:25):
the clock, We're not going to have an interception With Aaron,
It's no, we're going for the juggler. We're going for
the touchdown. And that was the thing about it. Look,
he's physically fast enough to turn up field and run.
He can throw anything. He can throw on the run,
he can throw in the pocket. He diagnosed, diagnosis, plays quickly,
and he really makes up for so much that ails
the Packers. The one thing about this Green Bay team
I'd like to point out play is that unlike in

(01:02:46):
previous years when they've suffered a lot of injuries, this
team has actually been able to weather him. They've only
lost one game this season, whereas other Packers teams, as
we've seen coming out of the gate, they might be
two and three at this point three and two and
then affecting their ability to get home field advantage down
the road. This Packers team as they get healthier, knock
on wood for them. That happens, man. I mean, they
are looking like they're probably the best team right now

(01:03:08):
in the NFC, and it's because of their quarterback. Is
Cam back goes on the road, gets a big win
back to back weeks over Tom Brady and Matt Stafford.
Is Cam Newton back to the Cam Newton of as
opposed to the one that was basically all in the
field all last year. I'll go in on this one play.
And you know why what happened last weekend last week

(01:03:28):
with Cam, you know and his breu jaha with the
female reporter and his quote sarcastic comments that were meant
in a loving fashion according to Camp, who is now
quoting Rosie the Riveter. Interesting. But but you know what
we've seen from Cam is usually when there's a midweek distraction,
he doesn't play too well coming up. We saw that
at the Super Bowl right when he couldn't handle all
the media attention and then folded like a cheap tent

(01:03:51):
in Super Bowl fifty against the Broncos and credit Von Miller,
but also Cam was horrible from the very beginning of
that game. We've just seen it. You know, you remember
the Odell com junior Josh Norman Flapp and that's all
the Panthers players could talk about. They go out and
lay an egg the next week in against the Falcons,
the first loss of the season. I was expecting the
worst from Cam Newton. You know, you're coming on the
road second straight week, you're playing the lines, you just

(01:04:13):
had this win over New England, and you're losing money
off the field. You've embarrassed yourself, your team, the league
is leaning on you. All these reasons for Cam Newton
not to produce against a good Detroit Lions defense and boom,
he's out their lights out. And what they've done is
they've effectively incorporated Christian McCaffrey in this offense. Hey, and
and Mike Schuler deserves some credit here. Yes, indeed, former

(01:04:33):
SEC washed out coach. I get it, Alabama didn't work
out for him there, but he has created an offense
that has allowed Cam Newton the flourish and you see
young guys getting better as well. Devin Funch is now
coming into his own. That's a real positive thing. I mean,
the offensive line is better. And Jonathan Stewart, you know,
the guy's ten years in the league. Now, it's unbelievable. Yeah,
I know he's always hurt, but he's doing something right

(01:04:54):
to be out there. Did a nice job. This Panthers
team is for real. This is the best team they
put on the field since that Super Bowl tea. They
are dangerous. Talking to Alex Marvez, you'll follow him on Twitter.
He joins us every single Tuesday, an hour two He's
at Alex Marvez on Twitter. Alex, I said, and I
think you might agree with me. Alex Smith through five
weeks is the m v P of the NFL. The

(01:05:14):
Chiefs the only five and oh undefeated team in the league.
Can the Chiefs maintain the momentum that they're on right now?
They can, but you know there are you know, and
listen they did the other night without d Ford as well.
It's hard for me to evaluate that Texans game because
you know, the look the Chiefs now have a tough schedule.
These next four games are gonna be rough. We'll see
if Derek Carr is able to play for the Oakland

(01:05:36):
Raiders looks like he should be back this week. Well,
you know, with dealing with that back issue. But when
you lose a player like J. J. Watt the Houston
Texans did, it just sucks the life out of you
as a franchise. And you're throwing Whitney merciless as well.
I mean, obviously one of the game's great pass rushers,
but the J. J. Watt thing was just too much.
I think it was like when you watched the Chiefs
a couple of years ago and they lost Jamaal Charles
against the Bears. It's like popping a balloon and just

(01:05:58):
the whole your whole spirit just comes out of you.
And that's how I look at that game. But I'm
not going to disparage what Alex Smith is doing. The
guy is operating this offense so comfortably. The problem for
him now though, with Chris Conley going down, who do
they got a wide receiver? I mean, they can keep
scheming guys to get open, but at some point I
think they're going to face a defense good enough to
really shut them down. Then again to put up what
they did against the Texans, which have a very good defense,

(01:06:20):
albeit without Watt and without merciless impressive. Listen, I'm not
going to disparage these guys. And you're right, Alex Smith.
Right now after five weeks the m v P with
Aaron Rodgers nipping at his heels. One more thing about that,
by the way, when you watch Clay, I'm sorry, when
you watch Alex and Aaron play, how different is it
watching their athleticism compared to two quarterbacks who were drafted

(01:06:40):
just one year earlier. Eli Manning and Philip Rivers looked
like old men compared to guys who were drafted just
one year ahead of him. It is pretty remarkable. That
is a great point. It is a really good point. Um.
We're talking to Alex Marvez. Go follow him on Twitter
at Alex Marvez. Okay, the Eagles are four and one.
Carson Wentz looks fantastic. Are they for real? Or is

(01:07:01):
this a function of a schedule that hasn't necessarily been
that challenging so far? They're the only team in the
NFL play to have scored twenty or more points for
nine straight games dating back to the two thousand and
sixteen season. The offensive juggernaut that is the Philadelphia Eagos.
You don't think of them that way. But you know,
listen to me, Arizona, they were destined to lose this game.
They've got nothing. I mean they can't even Arizona can't

(01:07:23):
even practice on Wednesday, Clay, Seriously, they do walkthroughs because
their guys are so beat up. I mean, it was
this was a script that was set up for the
Cardinals to fall flat on their face. That being said,
I'm not going to disparage what's going on in Philadelphia.
And you know, they have an interesting split as well.
When you look at like Sean McVeigh and his relationship
with Wade Phillips for the Los Angeles Rams. One guy
does the offense, one guy does the defense. It's really

(01:07:45):
like that in Philadelphia with Doug Peterson doing the offense
and Jim Schwartz doing the defense. And it allows Peterson
to spend a lot of extra time with that offense.
You know, you see Nelson Aghila are a big time contributor,
zach Ertz emerging as maybe the most dangerous tight end
in the NFC when you look at the production that
he's putting up there. And what this also does is
just show you how bad an organization that Cleveland Browns

(01:08:06):
are not that I need to add further proof to this,
but they passed on Carson Wentz, they pass on de
Shaun Watson. Pretty soon time is going to pass by
Hugh Jackson and Sashy Brown and they're gonna get rid
of these guys and get someone in the can find
a quarterback. It's Ben Roethlisberger done because we heard him
to kind of flirt with the idea of retirement in
the off season. Now he's back. But the Steelers have

(01:08:28):
lost to the Jags and they've lost to the Bears.
Those are two teams that the Steelers never would have
lost to when Ben Roethlisberger was really kind of at
the top of his game, or all those hits finally
adding up as he lost the will to be a
big time quarterback. What's the story with the Steelers? You
know what, I think the drama queen flag has been passed,

(01:08:48):
or maybe the Tierra. Let's call it the Tierra. The
Tierra has been passed from Brett Farve successfully to Ben Roethlisberger.
Because if Brett Farve we're doing the same type stuff,
we wouldn't really blink, right, I mean, you know, when
you when you Brett gets down on himself, or Brett
talks about retirement, or just think about if Brett Farve
made a comment like that, then maybe I just don't
have it anymore. But you know, and we don't know
if Ben was being sarcastic or not, but that's sort

(01:09:10):
of how I'm looking at this. Listen, there's drama behind
the scenes right now with the Steelers, and I don't,
unfortunately have any first hand knowledge I can pass on.
I'm not going to claim to, but you can watch
from the outside when Antonio Brown is beating up the
gatorade coolers, right and you know, you know you don't
have everyone in agreement upon how you're gonna handle the
national anthem situation. This isn't a fun time right now
in Pittsburgh. I still think they're talented enough to come back.

(01:09:32):
I think the Chicago game was really more symptom of
they couldn't get their act together before the anthem, and
they took them lightly. But what's alarming me it's not
just the offense. It's a defense that's just getting killed
in the running game. They had no answers for Leonard,
for Nette, they had no answers when they gave up
two or twenty two yards against Chicago. If you're a
team that can run the football against the Steelers, you're
looking in good shape. I'm not gonna throw them out

(01:09:54):
right now, but they may be on a on a
big time slide here because they gotta play Kansas City
on Sunday. Not good times for Ben. I yeah, I'm
not going to totally write them off. But if this
is his final season and he says, you know what,
this isn't fun for me anymore, wouldn't necessarily shock me either.
He's had long term health concerns, doesn't want to end
up having concussion related issues as his life goes on
and played. Trust me, he's not going to be the
only player we see through the years that feels that

(01:10:15):
same way and may walk away from the game while
they still can. Do you believe that the Cowboys will
make the playoffs? They have the uncertainty from Ezekiel Elliott.
We may get some sort of resolution on his six
game suspension. They're sitting at two and three. Obviously, Jerry
Jones has had all sorts of comments about the anthem.
There's always drama surrounding the Cowboys, but it seems like
the drama may be weighing them down this year. What's

(01:10:37):
the story in Big d Well? A couple of things here,
and I'm gonna share a story with I don't think
I've shared this with you, but I was at Jerry
Jones and his party, you know, for the Pro Football
Hall of Fame, and he invited all the key players.
This is like in the preseason. Okay, this is like before,
you know, right after you just played your first preseason game,
and everyone's celebrating like it's the super Bowl. Right, It's
Jerry Jones giant party. Everyone's having a great time. I

(01:10:59):
just couldn't imagine that if Robert Kraft gets inducted into
the into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, that Bill
Belichick is gonna say, yeah, let me go to a
party with my players and drink it up during the preseason, right.
I Mean, I just think that the Cowboys, it's always
the thought of what they could be rather than the
reality of what they can be a lot of times,
and I feel like this team doesn't have a lot
of folcus, that the offensive line clearly isn't what it

(01:11:21):
once was. Zeke Elliott, I mean, he had a nice
game against the Packers. Don't get me wrong, and he's
back over a hundred again. But when he's gone, who's
really going to step up and take his place? In
this offense? And on defense? They're hurting in the secondary.
I mean, they just don't have bodies. And I knew
it was going to be a rough go because they
decided to go with youth rather than keep guys like
Brandon Carr, Morris Clayborne. And I get that it's gonna

(01:11:42):
take some time. But I'll tell you what. The thing
about this Cowboys team, they're not as good as they
were last year. But here's the thing. Play who's gonna
run away with it? In the NFC East and New
York Giants are cooked Brandon Brandon Marshall now out for
the season, as well as Odo Beckham Jr. And the
report out the O'Dell had surgery last night. You look
at the Redskins, do you really fear them? I mean
there are five hundred team as well? And then you

(01:12:04):
have the Eagles and like you're saying as Carson Wentz
for real, well they very well could be. I mean
it's divisions there for the taking. But I just don't
see Philadelphia being that good. They're going to run away
with it. So I think the Cowboys stick around till
the end, but I don't think they make the playoffs.
How massive was the Patriots went on Thursday night. It's
been several days now, almost a full week since it happened,
but we haven't talked to you since it since it
did happen. How big was that? It was huge? And

(01:12:26):
you know, you you felt that I was at that
game and I was in the Patriots locker room after,
and you felt a sense of relief from guys in
their secondary. You know, they hadn't been playing very well.
And you know, one of the things is that Tampa
Bay doesn't do a lot of motion. They don't try
to confuse either, more of a power team and they
try to win someone on one matchups. They don't scheme
guys open, if that makes sense. So for the Patriots,
this became a little bit easier. They didn't have to

(01:12:46):
deal with bunch formations that Carolina used that caused him
a lot of confusion the previous week. And Jameis Winston
for whatever reason, Clay he's got he's got Chris Leak syndrome,
which is he just refuses to run. I don't I
don't get it, you know what I mean, there's swaps
of open field for Jamis Winston to you know, go
waltzing through. Yet he's insistent upon throwing the football. And
when he's off like he was the other night, he's

(01:13:08):
not very good. And he had a terrible night. O. J.
Howard had a terrible night. That's not good for the bucks.
That being said, give the Patriots credit. They don't beat
themselves normally. Their kickers and missing three field goals normally,
they're not They're not bad on third downs. I mean,
they just they just don't make the types of mistakes
that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers made. And that's why the
Patriots are going to continue to hang around and they'll

(01:13:28):
be just fine in the long run. But are they
elite like they've been in the past. Not right now?
And Tom Brady taking a beating back sixteen times already
this season through five games, went down just fifteen times
in twelve starts last year. Good stuff. My man will
talk to you next week. That's Alex Marvez. Thank you, Clay,
be good baby. By the way, I apologize to the
people in Puerto Rico. Also, you said all fifty states
Oh wait, they don't in power. It doesn't really matter.

(01:13:50):
Shots on Puerto Rico. Having should be having shots at
your guy, Jim Mcowen, that's who you should be taking
shots at that. That wasn't that wasn't too Where got nothing,
we got no players, we got we got nothing. They're
they're just too busy charging credit cards. It's just it's
just a terrible thing. No kidding, thanks my man. That's
Alex Marvez. He's brought to you by True Car. With
True Car, you can find out what other people in

(01:14:12):
your area paid for the same car you're looking for,
new or used. Visit truecr to get to enjoy, sorry,
a more confident car buying experience. Let's bring in Eddie Garcia.
Give me an update, man, alright, Clay, let's check postseason
baseball Game three Nationally Division Series. The Dodgers are moving
on after beating the Diamondbacks three to one. Cody bell
Andre had a home run, drove in two. Hugh darbish

(01:14:32):
gets to win. L A sweeps Arizona and advances of
the National League Championship Series. Also moving onto Houston Astros,
who beat the Red Sox and Boston five to four.
Houston scored two in the eighth one of the night
have to rally off of closer Craig Kimball for Boston
and get that win to take the series three games
to one, and they advanced to the American League Championship Series.
Game three, n LDS comes over the Nationals two to

(01:14:52):
one thanks to Anthony Rizzo's RBI single in the eighth
that broke a one one tip. Chicago has a two
one series lead and Game four a l DS Yankees alive,
beating the Indian seven at three. New York jumped out
to a five nothing lead, chasing Cleveland starter Trevor Bauer
through Las sengers and ending in two thirds. That series
is tied at to the weven deciding Game five Wednesday
in Cleveland and finally claimed Monday Night football, it was
the Vikings over the Bears twenty seventeen. It was the

(01:15:15):
first start for Chicago rookie quarterback Mitchell Draminski. Completed twelve
with twenty five passes for hundred and twenty yards one touchdown,
but it costly interception late and basically handed the game
to Minnesota. They moved in a position for a twenti
yard field goal with twelve seconds to go and that
was the ball game. Is my soccer knowledge? Actually? Uh?
It correct? If we figured out whether turned it out
in Tobago, I'm correct that if we win, we're in
the World Cup for all intents and purposes. Yes, apparently

(01:15:39):
Honduras would have to beat both Costa Rica and Mexico
with a gold differential of twelve. So again, I'm no
soccer expert, but I think the USA wins in there
they are in yes, yes, excellent, there we go boom.
Never know what kind of knowledge you're gonna get here,
just bringing all sorts of international soccer knowledge to you
here to begin hour to close, hour to just about

(01:16:00):
we're live from the Geico out Kick Studios, where it's
easy to say or more on car insurance with Geico,
go to Geico dot com or call seven Auto. The
only hard part figuring out which way is easier is
Jason Martin a slave. He will discuss next on OutKick
the cover. It's time for the Geico Play of the day,
boys and girls, and if you are an l A

(01:16:21):
Dodgers fan, you are going to be ecstatic because, let
me tell you this, Dodgers rookie stud Cody Bellinger. He
had a home run in the top of the fifth
against the Diamondbacks yesterday, but it might have been his
defense that really took the air out of the Arizona balloon.
I don't know the air out of Arizona balloon. I
guess that makes sense. Um. And here we go with

(01:16:42):
the audio from a M five seventy hour flagship in
l A and also the home of the Dodgers radio network.
The pitch to Jeff Mathis hops it up right side
found territory. Here the Dodger dug out Bellinger, leaning in,
rolling over making the catch. Whoa wanna play it? By Bellinger?
It looked like he was a high diver. That is

(01:17:05):
an absurd catch and that helped kill the Diamondbacks momentum.
And uh, that's your Geico play today. Great news. There's
a quick way you could save money. Switched to Geico.
Go to Geico right now, and uh, you could send
fifteen minutes, you could say fifteen per cent or more
on car insurance. Uh what am I supposed to do here? Now?

(01:17:28):
What are you supposed to do? I says, go, Yeah,
I know I'm reading Danny. Danny was talking about because
he saw at the end of this. I actually missed this,
but Danny, you can talk about this a little bit better.
Were guarding the pool, Yeah, yeah, Clay a few years
ago when the Dodgers won. They happened to be in
Arizona when they clinched an n L West title a
few years back, and they partied in the Diamondbacks pool

(01:17:51):
at their stadium. Do you remember that? I do vaguely
remember that. I also remember didn't didn't Fox like put
girls in bikinis in the pool one year for the
Major for the home run derby. Well, the one thing
I remember that, like the girls getting hit by baseballs
like in the ne bikinis in the in the in
the pool. I remember that for sure. Well, apparently the
pool is sacred ground there because the Diamondbacks refused to
allow the Dodgers to party there a second time. They

(01:18:15):
had horse police officers on horseback surrounding the warning track
near the pool, and police officers on foot around the
pool so that the Dodgers could not do belly flops
and us in celebration. That's outstanding now for Dodger fans
out there. Do you think Dodger fans want to rematch
with the Cubs or do you want the Gnats. I

(01:18:36):
don't think it matters at this point. It's just World
Series or Bustle. Bring it on, who whoever is ready,
because as you know, the trendy pick was the Diamondbacks
for a lot of people. And how's that looking now?
So Dodgers are feeling good, but obviously it can't be
overconfident either team, though I think they're ready to go.
We'll talk to Petros Papadakis in the final hour as
we do on Tuesdays and get his opinion on this

(01:18:58):
as well. Jason Martin, want to make sure about this.
Do you feel like a slave? Um? Since you are
an employee of of out kicking me on some level,
do you feel like you are the equivalent of its
plantation days here? What Mike Wilbon said is so ridiculous,
and he's not the first recall this slave thing has
come up a couple of times. Andre Iguidala talking about

(01:19:19):
Steve Kerr and he had Dremond Green talking about James
Dolan and Charles Oakley situation, and a lot of media
people have made this analogy as well. Look, I make
less money than you, Clay, I have much less power
than you. I have the right to quit if I
want to do that. Every employee has the right to
quit generally in this country, if they want to, and
they almost all make less money than their supervisors. Last

(01:19:42):
time I checked, slaves could not form unions, they could
not negotiate collective bargaining agreements. And I don't think Harriet
Tubman was sitting down to to talk about the idea
of potentially striking against plantation owner. I also don't think
they do. I don't think they got paid vacation either.
I don't remember a lot of slave said in the
Disney World. Uh. We'll talk about why we're discussing this

(01:20:04):
absurd story to start our three. You're gonna love it.
Trust me, you're gonna want to hear this audio. We'll
also talk about the President weighing in on ESPN and
Jamal Hill. Everything's coming up. Out Kick We're winning, big Ley.
I'm Clay Travis. This is OutKick the Coverage live from

(01:20:46):
in the Zone Auto Zone. Last night, the Vikings that
hold off the Chicago Bears and Mitch Drobiski's debut twenty
to seventeen. Drabisky is just okay. Sam Bradford has no
business being on the field by the end of the
first half. They replace him and the Vikings go on
and score seventeen points in the second half behind a
pretty capable stewardship. I thought in general from case Kingdom,

(01:21:08):
so the Vikings three and two. They're now still in
the mix in the NFC North, tied with the Detroit Lions,
one game behind the Green Bay Packers. That is a
big takeaway from Monday Night football. Actually, I thought the
most entertaining part of Monday Night Football was waiting for
the Star Wars trailer. Did everybody stay up and watch

(01:21:29):
the Star Wars trailer? Jason Martin Your verdict on the
new Star Wars movie trailer that's coming out in the
movies coming out in December. The trailer was debuted at
halftime of last night's Monday Night football game. I didn't
watch it because I know I'm gonna see the film.
I'll be screening it in December, and I just you know,
it's one of those where I'd rather just walk in
and not know anything. So I made a conscious decision

(01:21:50):
that I'm just not going to watch. But this is
the biggest upset of the show that Jason Martin, king
king of all uh pop culture, did not watch the
Star Wars trailer. What about you guys out in l A,
Danny g and Robert Did you guys watch the trailer?
Not during the telecast because I was flipping back and
forth between playoff baseball and the Monday Night football game,
But I did watch it once I got to work

(01:22:12):
here on the computer. What's your verdict? I mean, so,
I I now watch Star Wars movies thinking about because
my kids have all watched the Star Wars movie, so
particularly my two oldest, although I think we'll take all
three of them probably to it. Uh And and spoiler alert,
Han Solo getting killed was tough for the boys. Um
And probably for lots of you out there listening right now.

(01:22:33):
In the h an episode, I guess seven. We're moving
on the episode eight now or whatever it is, like
the newest one. Um, I think that was a challenge
in general. I guess this is episode eleven, Is that right? Um?
And so I I don't know what to expect in
this one. I hope it's hope it's decent. The trailer
looks cool. So yeah, it's hard to have a bad trailer.
I mean, in general, if you have a bad trailer,

(01:22:54):
you're in rough shape for the movie. What about you, Robert,
you a Star Wars guy? I am Clay, but at
first must give you a little bit of grief here
for saying spoiler alert and then immediately getting into the
spoiler without giving any I kind of am making fun
of the idea that there's a spoiler alert if you
haven't seen the new Star Wars by now, Like, what's
the time frame on needing to say spoiler alert? Because

(01:23:15):
I've been making fun of this for years, Like well,
for instance, back in the day, we would talk about
like an old movie like Forrest Gump, and I'd be like,
spoiler alert, you know, like Jenny dies of aids, you know,
like that's that's that's if you haven't seen Forrest Gump
at this point, that to me is on you, Like
I don't need to give you a spoiler for forgo this, right,
but I'm saying, like multiple if you what the new

(01:23:37):
movie the trailer, oh the trailer, I didn't tell anything
about what happened in the trailer. Well, first of all,
you I don't think you can spoil a trailer, right,
I mean they put it on. They put it on
during Monday Night Football, And so I know I was saying,
spoiler for Han Solo dying. Think about the children, Clay,
think about the children's true Han Solo dies. Don't get

(01:23:58):
attached to him, even if lovable of the rep scallion
as he is, He's gonna die. Everybody dies. Uh so
the welcome in, welcome into out, kick the coverage. Everybody dies.
Um all right, So, uh that that happened last night,
Monday Night Football happened. I gave you my top five
bottom five, as we do every single Tuesday on this show.
My top five chiefs one Packers to Carolina Panthers, three,

(01:24:21):
Denver Broncos four and the Atlanta Falcons. Five hanging right
outside in the sixth spot. I've got the Eagles. They
play the Panthers on Thursday night. We'll get a good
read exactly then on whether or not we believe the
Eagles are for real. Bottom five. I've got the Colts,
the Chargers, the Bears, the Giants, and the Browns. All right,
we're talking about one of the most ridiculous stories to

(01:24:42):
happen in some time. That is the fact that Jamal
Hill got suspended for saying that the NFL should be
boycotted and also the Dallas Cowboys should be boycotted. And uh,
she went after advertisers, which are big advertisers for ESPN.
She went after the NFL ad move there. She's been
suspended for two weeks. In the wake of Jamal Hill

(01:25:04):
being suspended for two weeks, Donald Trump early this morning
took to Twitter and he tweeted as follows, and we
think he's now an OutKick the listener. That seems to
be the general verdict. We need to get him on
the show for sure, He tweeted, as follows. With Jamal
Hill at the mike, it's no wonder ESPN ratings have tanked,

(01:25:24):
In fact, taint so badly. It is the talk of
the industry. Donald Trump OutKick listener. And on top of
that we have got Michael Wilbon who said one of
the most ridiculous comparisons I have heard so far. As
part of the anthem debate, if you remember, uh, Jerry
Jones came out on Sunday and said that he believed

(01:25:47):
all cowboys needed to stand for the anthem and if
they didn't, he would not play them. Well. This turned
into an interesting controversy because everybody's upset about Jerry Jones opinion.
That led to Jamal Hill getting suspended for two weeks
because she's floating out the idea of a boycott, which
is obviously not good. To talk about boycotting the number

(01:26:08):
one partner of ESPN, which is the NFL, and to
boycott the advertisers who are unbelievably the same advertisers who
advertise on her show and also ESPN. That was an
incredibly dumb thing to say by her, But it was
not even as dumb as what Michael Wilbon had to say.
Michael Wilbon on p t I yesterday afternoon compared NFL

(01:26:32):
players two slaves on a plantation. Yes, he really did.
Here is that audio, and he he got down in
linked arms and all this stuff, and he said, but
I wanna honor the anthem, and I understand that, and
it seemed like that was where he was going. But
now it just seems like it was as phony as
a three dollar bill. And the word that comes to
my mind, I don't care who doesn't like me using

(01:26:54):
it is plantation. The players are here to serve me,
and they will do what I want no matter how
much I pay them. They are not equal to me.
That's what this says to me and mine and I
want to know where the players are gonna go. This
is one of the dumbest comments I've ever heard in
the history of the ESPN. You cannot compare multimillion dollar

(01:27:15):
athletes two slaves on a plantation. What we have here
is pretty straightforward. We have a situation where an owner
disagrees with his employees if the employees were actually protesting.
And if an owner disagrees with an employee, guess what
the owner has the right to do not continue to

(01:27:35):
employ that employee. Every single person, just about maybe every
single persons rare, you can say this. I think just
about every single person driving to work today would trade
places with NFL players. That is just about every single
one of you driving to work right now would trade
whatever you do for your job to be an NFL

(01:27:57):
football player because you could make millions of dollars playing
a game, because you would love to be a professional
athlete and everything that comes with it. So this idea
that these guys are somehow slaves on a plantation is
such an insulting and stupid comment by Michael Wilbon that
he should be ashamed. He should go read a history

(01:28:19):
book and recognize that comparing modern day multimillion dollar athletes
to slaves who worked on a plantation is basically the
equivalent of comparing some sort of modern day not very
good hotel to a concentration camp. Right. I mean, it's
absurd to make historical analogies to Hitler and to concentration

(01:28:42):
camps and the Holocaust, just like it should be absurd
to make analogies historically to modern day pro athletes and
slaves on a plantation. As I said before, this is
one of the most remarkable things I have ever heard.
He will probably be able to totally get away with this.
Nobody will care except for me. And maybe a couple

(01:29:05):
of other people who are actually willing to call him
out on how stupid this is. But he should have
to go back in time with me and a DeLorean
and think about the analogy that he just made. I
just said that ninety nine point nine percent of the
people in all fifty states, all over the country, all
over the world who are listening to this show, millions
of you, almost all of you, would change places right

(01:29:29):
now with an NFL football player. I may be a
little bit historically naive, but I don't believe there was
anybody in eighteen fifty five who was like, you know
what I'd like to do. I'd like to trade places
with a slave. I'd like to take whatever freedom I
have now and give it up to go work on
a plantation for a slave master. Basically, what he's doing

(01:29:50):
here is analogizing Jerry Jones to a plantation owner. And
the analogy is so incredibly stupid and insulting to anybody
with a brain who has studied history in any way.
What do you think slaves would think if they got
to go into the future right now? If I showed
up and I got a slave into my DeLorean, like

(01:30:12):
in back to the future, and I drove them from
eighteen fifty five all the way to seventeen, and I said, hey, slaves,
guess what America is gonna be a lot different by
seventeen than it was an eighteen fifty five. You know
how you used to get whipped if you didn't listen
to the overseer and you didn't listen to the plantation owner. Well,

(01:30:36):
now you get millions of dollars to play a game
for a living. And you know how you used to
have one pair of pants and live in a crappy
cabin with like twenty people in there, and you couldn't
actually get married, and your kids could get sold and
all those things could happen on the plantation. Well, now
you get to live in a multimillion dollar mansion. You

(01:30:58):
get to drive this thing called a car, which is
gonna cost a couple hundred thousand dollars for you to
get a luxury automobile. You get guaranteed money, you have
incredible healthcare. You know how you used to get whipped
when you didn't pick enough bales of cotton, Well, now
you get guaranteed contracts and you get millions of dollars,
whether or not your team wins this game. Do you
think a slave would be like, Yeah, that sounds like

(01:31:20):
what I dealt with in eighteen fifty five, Or do
you think he would be like, Man, America sounds like
it's gonna be an amazing place in Michael Wilbon should
be ashamed for having such a stupid, historically inaccurate, absolutely
illiterate for anyone who has ever studied history analogy, And honestly,

(01:31:41):
I just can't. I should say that I shouldn't be
surprised by how stupid sports media has become, but I
honestly feel like I'm the last same person who is
talking about sports for a living. The entire universe of
sports media has gone insane, and I feel like I'm
the last same person looking out like, what in the
world has happened? What in the world has happened to

(01:32:03):
this entire universe. Any disagreement, let's bring in the crew
in l A. Jason Martin. I mean this analogy. Also,
ESPN's decision to to suspend Jamal Hill for two months,
I think it's the right one. Everybody in our business
knows you don't go after advertisers, right, They literally are
what support your show and allow it to exist. And

(01:32:25):
I would think Jamal Hill is smart enough to understand that.
I would have thought before these comments, I also would
have thought that she was smart enough to understand the
NFL literally is the foundation of the end of ESPN's business.
If ESPN loses Monday Night Football and all of the
studio shows that surround the NFL, the network would literally
probably go bankrupt. I mean, her entire business will crumble.

(01:32:48):
What in the world was she thinking? What in the
world was Mike Wilbon thinking? Has everybody gone crazy? I
don't know what Jamal is thinking, because she was already
on thin ice. Whether or not you agreed with what
she said or not about Donald She called Donald Trump
a white supremacist, so she already was on thin ice.
Is a great point. So you would think the last
thing you would want to do is advocate a boycott

(01:33:08):
against all the advertisers that support your show as well
as the league, which allows ESPN to exist as a
functional business. Yeah, with the show not necessarily blowing up
in terms of the ratings, show is takeful, It's not right. Well,
it's tanking, like her show is taking along with most
of ESPN shows. Yeah, if you want to be it's say,
in that situation, you want to be incredibly careful. You

(01:33:31):
want to be cautious if you're Jamal Hill because of
what happened a few weeks ago. Even if you just
feel like you have to say something, maybe don't say
it right now, because again the then ice analogy. As
for will Bon, this is not Germaine. To him, There's
been a lot of people in sports media that have
done this. There've been athletes, like we said in the
last hour, Draymond Green Andrea Iguadalard, you know what I'm before. Yeah,

(01:33:55):
athletes at least are not in the business of talking
about their like this is Mike Wilbon's job, right. An
athlete's job is to put a ball in a basket
or score touchdowns. So when they make a bad analogy
talking to the media, or they say something dumb, we
might rip an athlete for doing it, but it's literally
not their job to be salient and intelligent and perceptive

(01:34:18):
about the world of sports. This is actually Mike Wilbon's job. Moreover,
he isn't talking to the media. This is a taped show,
so he says it's not even live. He says something,
they tape it, they review it, they decide, you know what,
we love Mike Wilbon's comparison of modern day NFL players
to slaves on a plantation, and then they run it

(01:34:39):
on ESPN like that is something that is not Again,
this is to me, something that he's intending to say
and something that he said. They reviewed the tape and
then they were like, let's put it out there. This
is accurate. That to me is much worse than an
athlete making a bad analogy. I mean, I don't I
don't disagree with that at all. And the part about
the part of wilbons statement of really just boggles my

(01:35:00):
mind is when he makes the point about Jerry Jones
say well, I've always got more power than you and all, well,
of course, it's like you run out kick right, I
write for you. If you tell me not to do
something and I continually do it, that's gonna cost me
either my job or something because you have the power
to do that. Every employee in this country makes less
than his employer. Somebody has the power in every relationship,

(01:35:22):
and it's dictated by money and stature. At that state,
it's not necessarily it doesn't go any further than that.
And again, if I don't like what's happening at out Kick,
I can quit, just like anybody that doesn't like what's
happening with the Dallas Cowboys can also quit if you
don't like. Yes, if you don't like what you can leave.
If boss tells you to do, you have the freedom

(01:35:44):
to leave that job and go somewhere else. That's what
America is so all these NFL players. If you are
so offended by the national anthem, and you're offended by
your owner wanting you to stand for it because he
believes it's good business not to insult people that way,
then you have the right to not way anymore. You
can stop. There is no slavery that exists in this country.

(01:36:05):
Nobody can force you to perform labor that you do
not want to perform. That is across the board. True. Now,
there are consequences. Perhaps for your decision not to do something,
you make less money, you might get sued under your
contract for not fulfilling it. All those things could happen.
But you have the right not to do labor for
someone you don't want to work for. Yes, you absolutely do.

(01:36:28):
Not to mention slaves. No collective bargaining agreement, slaves, no strikes,
none of that. I don't remember going on strikes. I
don't remember the slaves negotiating collective bargaining agreements. As are
great points. They did not have a union to represent
them on the plantation. And they also, needless to say,
did not make millions of dollars to play a game

(01:36:51):
for a living. Oh my god, it's just so stupid
it almost boggles my mind. I'm the last same voice
in uh in media. And you know what, I also
so am one of the last guys to get a
really good night's sleep. I get a good night's sleep
even though I get up insanely early to start my

crappy old mattress you have because maybe you don't want
to go out to a mattress store. Maybe you don't
want to go lay on him awkwardly, maybe you don't
want to spend the time. You know what you can

in my man Petro's Papa Dakas had a good game
watching and listening to you. A nice job Kansas State,

(01:39:19):
Texas with double ot, I think it was. That was
pretty good. Shocked well, usually they send you off into
the hinter lands. And I was like when I when
I was flipping around, I was like, wow, this is
a big game they gave old p You know, usually
you're like on the Friday, you know, like Mac game
or whatever, like some some middle of nowhere. You got
to go, all right, well, I guess you're not very nice, Clay.

(01:39:41):
I'll call whatever game they give me. But this year,
you're right. I have had better games, big time games.
I'm not not kidding. I was flipping over. I mean
there's a lot of different games going on. I'm floating,
floating around a ton. And that was a big game
for both Texas obviously in Tom Herman and for Bill Snyder,
who was trying to keep his team in the mix
there in the in the Big twelve. Are you buying in?
You know, Texas playing Oklahoma This weekend. Do you think

(01:40:03):
that Texas can get I mean that game is obviously
a huge rivalry game. Anything can happen. But what did
you think of what you saw from Texas? Well, I've
seen him twice, Clay I had that other big game
they had had the Maryland game too, right, Yeah, so
I'm interested in Texas in that. I think Tom Herman's
a hell of a coach. I really do. And something

(01:40:25):
happened to their front seven after the Maryland game, to
where a lot of those guys Malik Jefferson, Nashan Hughes,
they start Anthony Wheeler, they have a really good nose
guard and a guy named Pouna Ford. They started to
play like their hair was on fire. And when those
guys started to play, the team came along. Now, they
still don't run the ball well at all. So there's

(01:40:48):
nothing really consistent there for them when they need it.
I mean, their best run game is when they go
in empty and the quarterback scrambles. That's that's not good
for consistency. Uh. They do a good job holding onto
the ball even though they can't run the ball well.
I mean, they do some very interesting things, which tells
me their coaching staff is good and they're a developing program.

(01:41:10):
So Texas is going to get better as the year
goes on. They found their quarterback. He's a tough kid,
Sam Ellinger, but he's a true freshman and he's gonna
make mistakes. So is Texas for real this year? Well,
they can beat anybody because of their talent level. But
are they going to be consistent all year long? I
doubt it, but I think they're really headed in the

(01:41:31):
right direction. We're talking to Petro seventy am, really popular
afternoon show. Many of you listening right now in l
A big fans of Petros and money his show. All right,
you and I would talk a lot about what youth.
I think it's true the Pack twelve sometimes getting overlooked
because the kickoff times. And as a guy who now
spends a lot of his time early in the morning

(01:41:51):
on the East Coast, I'll tell you, man, I wanted
to stay up and watch that Washington State USC game.
I fell asleep. Even though it was on a Friday Saturday.
I really would like to watch Washington play. I fell
asleep because my kids are getting up early in that
game doesn't kick off till Eastern does Chris Peterson have
something to his complaints about his team in Washington being

(01:42:12):
overlooked because of these late kickoffs. Here's what's interesting about
the Peterson thing. There's somebody in the PAC twelve, a
reputable coach, that complains about this every single year. Every
that since we've had three networks vying for the TV
time pack twelve network, ESPN and Fox are the ones

(01:42:32):
that air pack twelve games and put them in all
the time slots. I understand the time difference thing. Uh,
even though I'm born and raised out here. Dude, if
i take a trip to Kansas on a Thursday night
and I'm sitting in a hotel room trying to stay
up watch a double overtime Oregon game or something, uh,
I fall asleep. So I I understand if it's our

(01:42:54):
job to monitor football, we have DVRs. So I mean,
I think for people that it's if it's our job,
we the games are always available. But Rich Rodriguez had
this point last year, and it was about student athlete livelihood. Uh.
I think Mike Riley had this point six or seven

(01:43:17):
years ago when he was at Oregon State. David Shaw
talks about it all the time, so it's not new.
I don't understand why Chris Peterson is being singled out
a and be none of these guys to defend the
coaches for a moment. None of these guys are asking
for no night games. They're just asking like, can we
not do five in a row? And and I think

(01:43:39):
that's I think that's pretty uh reasonable. Uh, it is
a very interesting thing that's playing out. You can't make
people like something or pay attention to something just because
it's good. You know, TV shows get canceled all the
time because of that, and people watch these games. There's
no doubt there's a reason that they're on. My thing

(01:44:03):
about the whole thing, Clay was why bring up ESPN? Uh?
He didn't, you know, why did they put themselves into it?
You know? Why did Herb Street get all riled up?
You know, he's usually much more balanced than that. He
never says anything about anybody, And if anything, I was
kind of refreshed by Herb Street getting a little angry

(01:44:24):
towards somebody. But I thought it was misplaced. Peterson didn't
talk about ESPN, and then the broadcast was was it
was absolutely deplorable the way they went after him, And
I know he's kind of a control freak, but we
run into a lot of those in college football. While
all of a sudden, ESPN decided to go after Chris

(01:44:45):
Peterson was amazing and call him all those names and stuff.
I mean, Bill Snyder is four times as difficult, and
we just accepted because that's the way they operate, and
we respect it. We go and do the games, and
we celebrate Bill Snyder. You know, everybody knows what he's like.
Those kids don't have to sign there, those coaches don't

(01:45:05):
have to coach for him. That's a tough place, very
discipline oriented. You know Chris Peterson that way too. Why
all of a sudden is it a problem? You know,
I just didn't understand why they threw themselves into it
when ESPN wasn't even mentioned by the man. And it
also is crazy because Chris Peterson is one of the
five I think best coaches in college football. Doubt, no doubt,

(01:45:26):
got a good shot of putting his team in the
playoff for the best team on the West Coast right
now play and it's not even close. And that's what
I was going to ask you, do you agree with
me that they have a really good shot of going
twelve and oh that that they are the best team
in the Pact twelve right now, beyond the shadow of
a doubt, even if somebody gets them, you know, like,
even if somebody gets them later in the season, unless

(01:45:47):
it's Washington State and they end up going to the
fact World Championship, Washington is the best team. Uh. I
think they have a good shot of going twelve. And
oh but even if they lose one, I mean, they
have a very great front seven guys like a Siem
victor or out of control, making tackles and stopping the run.
I mean, Cal couldn't run the ball do anything. Cal
had like sixty yards of offense in the fourth quarter

(01:46:09):
last week. And nobody's that bad if you yeah, no, no,
you're right, I mean, and a lot of people are
just here, Like I feel like a lot of people
in the East and Central time zones are just not
aware of how good Washington is. And I do think
it's because of what time they're kicking off and because
their games are ending after most people have had to
go to bed already. Well, there has to be some
you know, this is solvable. There has everybody has to

(01:46:30):
do their part. I don't think USC, or the fact
well does a very good job of taking care of
their best teams. You know, Alabama would never go play
on a Friday night on a short week, you know,
at Ole Miss or something. You know, that would never
happen on an SEC schedule. It wouldn't happen to Ohio
State or Michigan. It happens to USC on the West coast.

(01:46:52):
You know, we don't take care of these marquee programs.
I'm not saying we should. I'm just saying we don't. Uh,
they don't do it like like other conferences. So that's
an issue. But Washington, you know, to me, is in
great shape regardless of if people see them or not.
You know, I think they're going to be in the

(01:47:13):
playoff if they go twelve and oh and I just
think you have to mix in a day game. There
has to be a regulation like, Okay, you can't do
three in a row night games in a row. You
can't have you know, to night road games in a row,
you know, kind of the way they do where they
regulate football camp and they say you can't have to
padded days in a row that are both double days.

(01:47:35):
And now eventually I think they've done away completely with
double practice days, so I think it's something that can
be regulated. We're talking to Petros. Petros and Money Show,
very popular afternoon show, five seventy A M and l A.
How impressive is what Mike Leach has accomplished to get
Washington State to six and oh so far this year?
Big win on the road, back to back weeks over

(01:47:57):
USC in Pullman and now going on the road at Oregon.
How good is Washington State? They're as good as they
could possibly be. You know, none of those players were
offered by USC, not one, and they went out and
beat USC at home and did it pretty convincingly with
the way they got after the USC quarterback and the

(01:48:19):
way they stopped USC inside the five. They are fast
on defense, They run the ball a lot better than
they used to. Leach is getting a little better at
managing the clock. And Luke Falk is a star. He's
an absolute stud. He's the toughest quarterback I've seen in
years in this conference. That guy gets hit in the

(01:48:40):
mouth and just figures it out. Now, whenever, whenever Mike
Leach was who were unemployed and a job would come up,
everybody would mention his name, you know, like it U C.
L A or Tennessee or all these different places, and
I would just say, there's no way it would work there.
You know, Mike Leach is gonna show up in sweats

(01:49:02):
when everybody is in a tuxedo and at U C.
L A. That doesn't fly in Lubbock, it does in Pullman,
it does. So when he went up to Washington State,
it just seemed like a great fit. If you've ever
been up to that place, you know, he's allowed to
be himself. And when you allow that guy to be himself,

(01:49:22):
obviously he can do really good things with a football
team that is almost always undermanned compared to the competition.
Petro's put in context for me what the Dodgers in
the NLCS is like. You've grew born and raised in
l A. Obviously the Dodgers are a connective tissue there
in the region. What what does it mean? How nervous

(01:49:45):
are people? How excited are people? Contextualize what the Dodgers
being this close to the World Series is like? Well,
they've won the division more than they haven't this decade,
so they've been in the playoffs almost every year. If
the Dodgers get to the world's here. He's clay the
city will catch fire. And I mean it hasn't happened
since I was alive then, and I was here to

(01:50:09):
see Kirk Gibson's home run and all that. And what
what makes the Dodgers different is the Latino fan base
because they really just fuel this team and they have
for decades and decades, and it makes it exciting the
amount of people that will come out. They are not

(01:50:30):
priced out of the market. The whole community is not
priced out of the baseball market like they are with
the Lakers and the Clippers, where most people in l
a h they just can't afford to go to those
basketball games, but people could afford to go to baseball games. So,
like you said, it's part of the fabric of the city.
But the playoffs are old hat, and it's almost like

(01:50:52):
people are waiting for, you know, Clayton Kershaw to give
up seven runs and the seventh inning of of one
of these games. Uh, and whoever they take on, it's
gonna be It's gonna be a great adventure, there's no
doubt about it. But there's a lot of nerves coming.
Everybody's waiting to get their finger pointing ready, even though
nothing bad has happened yet. But it's been a hell

(01:51:13):
of a year covering them. There's no doubt. It's been
a lot of ups and then one big swoon which
was very interesting, a lot of panic. I was a
big part of that, and uh, and now everybody, you know,
I'm just waiting to see what happens that's bad, you know,
and where it's going to come from. But I think
that's most baseball fans. I think it's a defeatist sport.

(01:51:35):
So you get a lot of defeatism, especially when you
haven't been to the World Series. You know, they haven't
even been there since night The Angels have won a
World Series since the Dodgers have been to the World
World Series and one. The Padres have been to the
World Series. The Giants have won three. Uh, since the
Rockies have been to the World Series. The Diamondbacks have

(01:51:57):
won a World Series, the freaking Diamondbacks, Uh, since the
Dodgers have been there. So there's a lot of trepidation
still too. How would you compare Let's say that the
Dodgers get to the World Series, how would that compare
to the Lakers getting to the NBA finals. I mean,
the Lakers have been a lot more, But in terms
of how excited the city would be, I think we

(01:52:17):
would see the most excitement because because the Lakers are
the Lakers, and people do love the Lakers. I mean
I'm not a Laker fan, so you're not going to
get a straight answer from me, but people love the Lakers,
and there would be Uh, there's always a huge, huge
draw when the Lakers get anywhere. But if the Dodgers

(01:52:38):
go to the World Series, I think you'll see something
that you haven't seen in this city since the Olympics
or something. I think people would absolutely lose their minds.
What game you got this weekend? Uh, don't laugh at me.
I got Oklahoma State hosting Baylor. Baylor's not that bad.
They're gonna beat somebody this year, dude. I hey, look

(01:53:01):
is doing the right things. This is I think a
testament Fox has got. So this is the best year
of college football games that Fox and FS one have
ever had. Right, all of our games been great? Yeah,
I mean it is impressive. Well, I'll guarantee you I'll
be watching that game and listening to it. Mike Gundee
and his glorious mullet. Uh, definitely look forward to you

(01:53:21):
analyzing that I'm getting better games this year because I
stand next to Mark helfridch while he draws plays. Do
you think by the way Mark Helfred's do you think
he'll be back coaching? I mean, you get the sense
that he really likes calling games or is this one
of those situations where you definitely know this guy is
just kind of doing his research, inviting his time until
he can get back to coaching. I I will say

(01:53:44):
this about him. You know, I can't tell you what
he's gonna do, because you just it's a crazy business
and who knows. He is one of the best people
I've ever been around to do games with. He's absolutely
for a guy who got paid a lot of money
to coach. Uh, he's absolutely and a lot of money
not to coach, right with the buyouts the way they are,

(01:54:05):
But he's absolutely and totally engaged and and interested in
what we do. He wants to be good. He doesn't
need me to stand next to him at all. You know,
it's kind of my job to work with new broadcasters.
He is absolutely and totally one of the most talented
color guys I've ever been around like one game in

(01:54:25):
I was like, oh my, you know, this guy can
really communicate and he's not cocky, but he's excited and
happy to be there. Uh. Really one of the more
likable people I've been across in college football. And I'm
being straight up, Clay, and I like you. You know,
I have a lot of issues. I realized that, but
I've had your taste. Is But but everybody likes this guy.

(01:54:48):
I mean he is, Uh he is a real prince
to be with this year. And I I know I
sound a little heavy on that with the blowing up
the smoke, but he is. It really is true. He's
a lot of fun to work with. But you know,
if he keeps broadcasting put it like this, he's not
gonna need a three man booth. Ay and b I

(01:55:10):
think if he wants to go back to coaching, he
could in a heartbeat, because uh, I think to know
this guy is to love him and trust him. Outstanding stuff.
Will be watching Oklahoma State Baylor this weekend with Petros
and you guys will be obviously listening five seventy am
Big Time Afternoon Drive show there in l A. Appreciate
the time, my man, thanks for getting up early with us.

(01:55:31):
All right, by Clay, that is Petro's Papa Dacus. Let's
bring in my guy, Eddie Garcia. Let's get an update
in the world of sports. All right, Clei, let's give
you the full picture of the postseason baseball. You guys
are talking Dodgers. They've moved on. They beat the Domondvacks
three one, taking Game three of the NLCS over the
domond Vacks. They sweep the series and move on to
the National League Championship Series. Cody Bellinger at a home run,

(01:55:52):
Hugh Darbish gets to win on the mound. Also, it
was the Astros moving on. They beat the Red Sox
in Boston five four and Game four their a l
d us Houston scoring two in the eighth one on
the ninth as a chase Boston closer Craig kimbro and
get that win. Houston takes a series three games to one.
They're onto the American League Championship Series. Yankees stay alive
with a seven three win over the Indians. New York
jumped out to a five nothing lead, chasing Cleveland start

(01:56:14):
Trevor Bowery lasted and ending in two thirds. Aaron Judge
drove in two runs Gary Stangez and a SOLbo homer.
That series is tied to a deciding Game five will
the Wednesday in Cleveland, and Game three n LDS Cubs
get by the Nationals two to one. Anthony Rizzo broker
one one tie with an RBI single in the eighth
inning that was the game winning hit of Chicago leads
that series two games to one, and Clay Finally Monday
Night football vikings over the Bears twenty seventeen and his

(01:56:36):
first start. Chicago rookie quarterback Mitchell Chrobiski completed twelve with
twenty five passes for hundred twenty yards, one touchdown, but
one very costly interception late in the game that basically
handed Minnesota the victory. Is a booted a twenty six
yard field goal with twelve seconds left. Good stuff, my man.
We're coming to you live from the Get Go out
Kick Studios, where it's easy to say fifenter more on
car insurance with Geico. Got a guy, go dot com

(01:56:58):
or call eight D nine four seven Auto. The only
hard part figuring out which way is easier. Got an
amazing animal thunderdome story for you next here on out
Kick the coverage. What does it mean when Geiko says
just fifteen minutes could save you fifteen per cent or
more on car insurance? It means you probably should have
gone to geiko dot com fifteen minutes ago. It's Animal

(01:57:18):
Thunderdome time, boys and girls, and we got tigers, ladies
and gentlemen. I'm just glad I was there, boys and goods.
I thought he thought I was like this enormous piece
of chicken dime. Times here my space. This is Animal Thunderdog.

(01:57:48):
Not a good day for a staff member of the
banner Ghet, a biological park park in Bengalore, India. He
was attacked by two white tiger cubs man racist tigers.
Two white tiger cubs jumped on him and bit his
neck after he apparently had disturbed their sleep. The forty
year old keeper named Aji had only worked at the

(01:58:11):
park for a handful of days. He was hired to
fill in for another staff member and he brought in
some food. He was preparing dinner for the tigers before
they went to sleep. He entered their enclosure and unfortunately,
while there were a couple of tigers that were not happy,
he didn't notice the gates to the area with the
tigers weren't locked properly. When one of the cubs saw

(01:58:32):
a stranger in their cage, jumped on him and bit
his neck. The other cub didn't joined in, and when
Angie started screaming, the tigers got in rage took him
into the safari area. They then ate parts of his body,
and when the caretaker tried to come to his assistants rescue,
the tigers wouldn't allow him. The senior staff member was
chased by the tigers, too lucky to get to a

(01:58:54):
safe place. Now they're protesting the National Park and demanding
that the white tigers be killed. Maybe. I don't know, man,
that's rough. Don't mess with white tigers. Wasn't this what
happened with the guys in the Who was it? I've
forgotten their names? The guys who had white tigers in Vegas,
Sigfreed and Freud got attacked by the white tigers to it? Right? Yeah?

(01:59:18):
Then are they still alive? Those guys? Are they dead? Now?
I believe one of them still alive? I want to
say they did the movie on HBO. Didn't Matt Damon
play one of them? Did Matt Damon? Patin get played
the guy who got attacked by the tiger or the
one who didn't get attacked by the tigers. I missed
the film. I've been I've been off of my pop
culture today apparently, so I haven't didn't watch the Star

(01:59:41):
it did, right, I mean like Sigfreed and Roy movie.
I know, I don't know whether Matt Damon played the
guy who got attacked by the tiger or not. Tomorrow Tomorrow,
Animal Thunder don't want to get into when we have
about forty seconds here. This happened in Detroit. A woman
was being attacked by a dog was being mauled. A
good Samaritan neighbor came in trying to break it up
with a gun, ended up shooting and killing the the

(02:00:03):
person being attacked. We gotta spend more time on this
story of Marrow. He tried to shoot the dog, and
he shot the shoot the dog again, shot the person
instead killed the person dogs. Okay, dog is still alive
and kicking. So do we think this might be an
attempt to just get away with the murder? How do
we know the dog was actually mauling the po I
don't know, but this takes Animal Thunderdog to another level,

(02:00:23):
another level in d We got to spend more time
on this story. It happened to Detroit, happened everything crazy
happens in Detroit these days. I'm Clay Travis, the last
same man in media. Make sure you download the podcast
