two pros FSR and subscribe. So obviously there was black
Monday coaches got the acts. We know, Pete Carroll, Jonathan Gannon,
Kevin Stefanski all gone. One guy that remains is Mike McDaniel.
He is still there. He said he will be part
(01:31):
of help with the GM search. So apparently Troy Aikman's
criticism of him, you know, during a Monday night game
a few weeks back, Mike McDaniel appears to be safe.
Where it gets interesting is his quarterback to at tuckabay Looa.
He was at his locker yesterday and a couple of
(01:52):
media members kind of walked up to him and said,
you know, two you know, are you hoping for a
fresh start? And he said, quote that would be dope.
I would be good with it. Barry Jackson, who covers
the Miami Dolphins, said, the three of us who asked
him made sure he knew that we meant somewhere else,
(02:12):
and he very politely declined to speak beyond that. So
I don't know if that means that that Tua is
going to be elsewhere when it's all said and done,
But I would have thought that he would see this
considering his history with Brian Flores and how everything went down,
I would have assumed that he would realize this is
(02:32):
probably the best opportunity he's got with an organization that's
already paid him and a coach that has had success
with him. That coach is still there, he probably would
have to maybe compete. As Mike McDaniel said, there's going
to be a quarterback competition next year. I just wonder
if this means that they're embracing for a change or
(02:52):
they're just looking at this as a full blown competition.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
It's going to be Quinn yours versus Tua in training
camp next year. I see it.
Speaker 5 (03:01):
I think they're going to try to trade too, if
they can find an offer for him, and that offer
may come with them having to pay a good portion
of what the extension they signed them to. And uh,
hopefully there, I should say, for their sake, hopefully they
get some draft you know, capital back in return if
they are going to pay a good portion of that contract.
I mean, that's that's kind of how it works nowadays,
(03:22):
is if you can find a team that's willing to
give up on a guy and the heck, they're already
gonna pay him anyway that they can get some decent
draft capital back in return. Okay, like that, they'll they'll
most likely do the trade, do the deal. I don't
think they're gonna cut them. I don't think they would
release them. They'd be a lot of money on their
dead cap. So I think they try to find a
trade part er if they could, and go that direction.
(03:45):
But it feels like, and there's multiple plays that I
was gonna be like this. It felt like in Arizona two,
if they weren't going to move on from Jonathan Gannon,
they were going to move on from Kyler Murray. Now
it feels like maybe they move on from both, or
at least maybe they want to keep Kyler Murray to
see what the next head which would want to do.
And in the case of Miami, you know you brought
in Mike McDaniel to get the most out of two.
I think you have gotten the most out of him.
(04:06):
The problem is can't stay healthy. So because of that,
it feels like they want to make a change. If
they're not gonna change with McDaniel, then they're probably gonna
change with Tua.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
I don't first, let me just start by saying it's unfortunate,
but he is damaged goods. I mean, you just got
to look at it at face value. I don't think
the value, No, I don't. I wouldn't say he's touched
and just say he's you know, he's seems like he's
a good dude. He just found himself in a situation
(04:40):
where concussions and maybe a few other things I don't know,
maybe a lack of belief from Flores early on. It's
just certain things that could have possibly potentially made things
difficult for him long term.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
In Miami.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
I think him and Mike McDaniel, they got off to
a really solid start. But I just think that the
concussions deal is the biggest piece of the story with Tua.
So a fresh start, I don't think there is a
such thing as a fresh start for him at this point,
and that just has to be a reality that he,
you know, he embraces.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
What is next.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
I don't know if I'm another team, I'm not giving
up anything for Tua. I just don't know what I'm
going to put to you like this. I do believe
I know what I'm getting when I get Tua, and
for that, I just can't see myself giving up any
real capital to get them. And so I think he's
(05:45):
he's in a good position because he's got his contract.
Miami's in the compromising position because they have to figure
out what to do with them. And Q you just mentioned,
I mean, why would you just get rid of them
and just take the dead cap hit? So you bring
them back and you see if he can compete for
the job. But now going into this season, it's there's
(06:05):
a clarity and understanding that you're not the starter. You
have to win the position. You're not just the incumbent.
You have to win the position. You're going to have
to compete to be the guy that starts for this team.
And I think that that's.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
A little bit different than what it has been for him,
and I think that's a reality that he has to accept.
Speaker 5 (06:27):
You don't think they would like a team would give
up a conditional third and a sixth or something for Tua.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Again, is it possible, I guess anything's possible. Is it sensible?
Is it realistic? I would probably err on the side
of no. I would not think that that is feasible.
Just looking at what the potential of him being to
(07:01):
to your your team I just don't.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
I don't see it. I don't see it.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
Who would be the team that would make some sense
if that's the case, Like we're looking at teams that
I mean, look a lot of the speculation. I think
the betting odds have Brian Flores is the favorite to
get the Raiders job.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
So that would take the Raiders off, eliminate the Raiders.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
They're they're out of the conversation. I mean, it's not
going to be anybody in the a f C North.
I would maybe the Browns. I don't know, Like I
don't know if the Browns want to give up and
go down that road with Deshaun Watson, even though that's
coming on. I just I don't know how many good
options there.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Are the Browns.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
I'm just looking around the a FC, like teams that
need quarterbacks. Indianapolis that's a log.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
Jam, and that's a logjam. Oh no, I mean don't.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
I just said, that's a ride at Kennywood and I love. Yeah,
sitting alone, you get wet.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
I'm just I don't know what, Like where makes Minnesota
if you want to create some competition with for a
JJ McCarthy, which I think they want to do.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
But I don't know. Man, it doesn't seem like there's.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
If he comes, let's just fast forward. He gets signed
by a team. Let's it doesn't matter what the team is.
He gets signed by the team. He comes walking through
the door. What do you think the first thing everybody's
inside the doors are saying, from the secretary to the
media people, to the coaching staff, to the scouting department,
to everybody. What do you think they're saying a minute
(08:36):
they see to a walk through the door, don't hit
him in the head. Okay, something to that effect, helmets,
something to that effect. It's right, why do you want
that coming through your doors?
Speaker 5 (08:50):
I mean, okay, okay, Then if you want to use
that discussion, could you say the same thing about a
head coach taking the New York Giants job with the
concern over Jackson? I mean, if it gets too windy,
they're gonna take him into the Blue ten and check.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
His head out.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
And by the way, he's like he takes some hits,
takes some hits, and it's not even just the ones
that we know he's had. He was evaluated several times
because they're like, yeah, something's off.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
That's why what I'm saying is not a joke. I
mean it literally. He's been evaluated at least five times,
maybe six.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Yes, I would say it's a better scenario for the
New York Giants versus if I brought two Way in,
Because if I'm coming in, I can obviously have the
conversation that this is a concern, and it's probably already
a concern for the organization. You don't have to establish that,
(09:46):
but you can make it clear that you're aware of
this concern of his concussions. And now I feel as
though that that actually, you can't be held accountable for
moving away from Jackson Dart if you're the new coach
(10:07):
of the team. But if Jackson Dart's potential is what
made the job attractive, then that's where to me, I
feel like that's that's the conversation of.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Are you comfortable with taking that risk?
Speaker 1 (10:23):
Because if you're hanging your hat and you said this
on I don't know if it was today or yesterday,
but you said, you know, you got to look at
Jackson Dart and say, you know, he's got to be
attractive to you and you got to believe in him.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
And I would agree with that. I would agree with
for now.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
If I took over the New York Giants as the
head coach, I would one hundred percent want to try
and make it work with Jackson Dart, and I would
go in a different direction of players that I go
for in the draft. For certain, I would one hundred
percent make sure that I bring in a backup quarterback
(10:59):
that I believe fits my you know, my offensive scheme,
understands what I want to get done, and can step
in and play at a moment's notice, to compete for
the job. Not just come in and be a backup
and accept being a backup, but compete for the job.
(11:21):
I would I would find that more attractive and more
feasible than bringing two a in and trying to figure
out where do I fit this guy on our roster
knowing that his whole game has had to change based
upon the potential safety of his head health. That to me,
(11:42):
I think that that would be the Jackson Dark conversation
is a tap bit different. Why, well, he's younger, It's
it's not as is. I don't think it's as dire
a situation at the moment as as to us like
(12:03):
I think, why are you looking at me like that bruh.
I like, that's weird.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
Haul about I gotta be caring because I don't I
don't want this to say.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Remember, you're trying to make this right because you are
undercover racist, So there's got to be not at all
because that is where you were going.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
I'll be honest with you could probably claim Jackson Dart
at this point, but I would say, there you go.
You had to get it in there. No, I'm just
saying like, like you're like, you know, on the curtain.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
They got more into Jackson dark because he wears jewelry and.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
And I don't know grill and I'm not.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
Here to he is kind of fancy, you know, he's
he's so being so being a thing.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
By the way where he waves the sprinkler in front
of his face and covers his face, it's a dance.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
What a dance? Like the kids hair thing interviews does
the hair thing is like make sure the hair is
He's a good looking kid man.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
If you're trying to say his pizzazz and his style
is more cultural, it's more culturally.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
More fitting for the black community. I mean, I don't
know what to tell you.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
Maybe maybe that security that he's a pretty good looking
kid personally.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
He walks out there look at all fancy.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
I like him, What is that you cover your face
and you wiggle your hand in front of you?
Speaker 2 (13:20):
Like, what is that? I don't know, it's weird what
the kids are doing? Patty? Can you look that up?
Speaker 4 (13:26):
What is that dance where you cover your face and
you you wiggle your hand in front of you.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
Maybe it's a gang. It's a gang affiliated you know movement? Sweet,
you never know.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
You gang gang? You know that's what I'm talking about. Gang? Right,
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (13:44):
Yeah, the Jeb, But that's why the Brian Dave all
like going into the medical tent and them freaking out
in real time. Then you come come to find out
weeks later it's like, yeah, he's been evaluated a bunch,
he's had multiple concussions.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
It's a problem.
Speaker 5 (13:59):
So but the other issue is just like from that,
it's it's it's only a problem if he doesn't change
his style of play. And I guess the issue for
me is like, well, if he can't change his style
of play, then you know you're on borrowed time because
eventually he's gonna get knocked out and you're gonna have
the backup going. Eventually, they're going to add up over time.
(14:19):
So that's more of the concern I think is if
you can't get him to play more from the pocket
to protect himself, that's a it's a big time concern.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
But then nowscarm becomes can he be and you bring
up Tua, Does he turn into a Tua if he
changes the way he plays?
Speaker 5 (14:35):
The tough thing for tu it's it's not just concussions.
I think our concern is concussions.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
However, like he's.
Speaker 5 (14:40):
Missed time you know this year, last year, Like he's
missed time for hip injury, He's missed times for other things.
Had the hip injury when he was back in college.
So there's a number of concerns there from from his standpoint,
in his medical history regards In regards to his contract,
here's the tough part. We talked about not wanting to
cut him because of the the dead cap money that
(15:01):
would be on the salary cap for the Dolphins. They
would owe almost one hundred million dollars.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Crazy. If he was released before June one, two is
just fine, He's fine.
Speaker 5 (15:11):
Well, post tune one, it would be different, right, That's
gonna be a lower number, but they really couldn't get
out from underneath this contract until twenty twenty seven.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
That's when that dead cap number comes way down.
Speaker 5 (15:23):
It goes from basically ninety nine point two million to
thirty one point eight his cap hit for a start
of really isn't that bad coming into this season.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
So it is tolerable at fifty six point four million.
Speaker 5 (15:38):
But he knows he's in a good spot where he'll
either be on a roster for the Dolphins or he's
gonna be somewhere else, with the Dolphins paying the lion's
share of that and more similar to maybe what we
saw with Russell Wilson and you know, the Broncos having
to pay for you know, a ton for him, right,
So I just I think he's gonna be. You know,
(15:59):
he's gonna be. It just depends on what's the right fit.
And the question of the right fit is sometimes it
takes a unique coach like I go back to the
Kyler Murray when he gets drafted number one overall. Cliff
Kingsbury's there, he has a history with him. He knows
how to try to install an offense to play too
his strengths. You know, now, Jonathan Gannon three seasons, they
don't have any success. There's reports rumors, hey maybe they
(16:20):
felt better about Jacoby Brissett being back there as compared
to Kyler Murray. Well if that's the case, I mean,
what does that mean then for Tua? Because Brian Flores
obviously wasn't a fan of him, Mike McDaniel was.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
But it hasn't led to enough success. And whether you
want to put that on.
Speaker 5 (16:34):
Tua or just him missing games, we're to this point regardless.
So then who's who's going to value him out there?
That's what I would be willing to trade for him
under this contract, even if you could get the Dolphins
to pay a good portion of it. I just I'm
not sure what team that is with an offensive minded
head coach that's that's going to pay him to basically
(16:56):
be the starter or bring him to be the starter.
It's a tough spot to be in. Like I think
the Dolphins have to prepare themselves, you know, to play
out this thing out and potentially with Tua being their
starter or at least being on the roster for this upcoming.
Speaker 4 (17:10):
Year, it'd be fun to fun to cover that. It
is two pros and a cup of Joe. Here on

a lot of controversy and it's yours right here on FSR.

challenge with Quarterbacks. Pizza Hut has another message for fans.
Don't forget to order Pizza Hut before the first Hut

So before that first Hut, order the biggest pizza for
the biggest games. Grab the Big New Yorker and you're
set for the whole game. Var what's your go to
on game day? What you like when you get that
Big New Yorker? Oh, you bet your ass, it's the
(18:14):
Big New Yorker. Damn right, you gotta fold it. You
fold that bad boy. It's the way to go anyway.
Big games this weekend, don't forget to pizza before the Hut.
Order the Big New Yorker early. Don't wait because it's

Good morning everyone, Good morning, Good morning. How's everyone doing?
All right?
Speaker 1 (20:08):
Yeah, yeah, all right, all right, good.
Speaker 4 (20:14):
Hi guys, what do you what are you so happy about?
Speaker 2 (20:21):
There's a lot of casualties in the NFL bit after yes,
I mean, as soon as we get off the air.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
It's interesting because we've been making our speculations and listen,
it sounded like we were pretty accurate on everything.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
So that's why I'm happy. You know, it's good to be.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Accurate about things that are going to happen, you know,
because we're at an hour where they're planning on doing
and executing what it is that we discuss on the show.
So in a way, while we don't get to be
a part of the breaking news while we're doing our show,
(20:56):
because they're probably sleep and thinking about the after math
and you know, everything that comes with the decision that's
about to go out to the media, we get to
speculate about it and then people get to form opinions,
and generally speaking, I think people listen to what we
have to say, So that's pretty cool.
Speaker 4 (21:14):
Kevin Stefanski, Jonathan Gannon, Carrol as the in laws would say,
that's a rap. I guess the one that is kind
of surprising, just because like the way that it was portrayed,
and I think Albert Breer was, you know, one of
(21:35):
the ones who kind of portrayed it this way, was
that Jonathan Gannon looked like he was going to be safe,
but there's going to be some changes, and then apparently not.
But that's just that's going to be a rap, and
Jonathan Gannon moves on. I know Kyler Murray gave him
a shout out on social media, so I don't know.
(21:56):
I just was under the impression that that was going
to be that that was a save spot, but apparently not.
And then Pete Carroll, I mean, boy, that was cool.
Boy boy, what a what a one year run that
was from Pete Carroll. That team stinks for three years?
Speaker 1 (22:13):
Okay, yeah for what what ten million a year or
something like that.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
So so there they go.
Speaker 4 (22:23):
Uh and then obviously Kevin Stefanski got the got the
gift of the New Year, he gets to gets to
leave the Cleveland Browns and uh and moves on. So
I just I looked at that one and just thought,
Kevin Stefanski's probably looking around going, thank christ Man, I
got to get out of here, like I gotta go.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
I know you guys, let me ask you INQ this.
I know you guys mentioned yesterday he'll get a job immediately.
He They could even trade him if they wanted to,
that's how good he is. But then you start to think,
I want to ask from a layman's term or somebody
that doesn't understand it that way. If you're doing so
(23:03):
poorly that you're going to lose your job, how does
that equate to you getting picked up immediately.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
To be a head coach somewhere else? Can you guys
like just elaborate on that. Yeah, it's really easy.
Speaker 5 (23:16):
Actually, So when you look at a guy who's a
multi time Coach of the Year, and you look at
the situation that he's in. Everyone around, like everyone in
that industry, let's put it that way. They know what's
going on in Cleveland. They understand how bad of a
situation that is, and the fact that they made it
(23:36):
to the playoffs with a fourth string quarterback one year
is a miracle. It would be like inventing the wheel
and then everyone after the fact, after having you know,
a down year and a very dire circumstance, being like, yeah,
but that guy is still invented the wheel. Like it's
like it's he's still pretty darn good at what he does.
It'd be like that equivalent of what he's been able
(23:58):
to do throughout times as a head coach and getting
credit for it like that. It doesn't come around very
often where you become a two time head coach of
the year, especially at that place of all places.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
What do you think?
Speaker 4 (24:15):
I just think that I think people recognize, as Brady said,
what that place is and they've identified that. Yeah, there's
definitely some problems there, but that's not one of them. Like,
that guy is not the issue, and uh, and we
would love to have him yeah, he's already got three
(24:35):
interviews lined up. He's got Atlanta lined up. The Giants
are going to interview him.
Speaker 5 (24:39):
I think this could be wrong, too, but I think
he's got more playoff wins since twenty twenty than Mike Tomlin.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
Oh wow, Oh no, that's a hundred percent correct. How
does that hit you far? Does that change things for you?
I don't need anything. I just want. I just want.
Right now, it sounds like you're no, No, I'm not.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
I just want to put it out there so that
our audience can understand it. I mean, I like for
us to educate our audience, you know what I mean?
So yeah, all right, So so let me ask you
guys this, If the Browns are such a trash can
and and dumpster fire, what what do you if you're
a coach and and you're someone who is aspiring to
(25:21):
be a head coach in the National Football League.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
It's about money. Then it's just that.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
You take so you go to Cleveland because so so
like you go to Chicago. Chicago was kind of a
dumpster fire, right Ben Johnson? Uh comes to Super Bowl?
Speaker 2 (25:35):
In their history though, you know, like the Browns.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
Has a long time ago that's eighty eighty what eighty
five eighty five?
Speaker 2 (25:42):
Okay, LeVar has I have the Browns ever won a
Super Bowl? They've come close?
Speaker 1 (25:46):
My man Mabe fumbled on the on the goal line
or they you know, Marty and those guys have have
probably wouldn't that.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
Long ago, Like buddy, Oh, that's way longer. I mean,
well not way longer.
Speaker 5 (25:57):
It's around to say it was longer, but I'm saying,
like the there was one one in eighty five, the
pro never won won one.
Speaker 4 (26:03):
Yeah, you don't count the Ravens too super Bowls as
Brown super Bowls.
Speaker 5 (26:07):
I mean that is that pains me to admit that
franchise did pick up and move and that's in Baltimore.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
Now, like you'd like, you shouldn't I have been calling
me Baltimore may Flowers. I mean, honestly, shouldn't have been
the Mayflowers. Damn yeah, they should have been the Mayflowers anyway.
So so so, seeing that Deshaun Watson is getting healthy
and ended ended the year on the pet pup list
but could have possibly been activated, you got perfect timing
(26:37):
that that finished the year with a win. I mean
it's that line, wasn't amazing, but you get nonetheless, you
got Chador Slanders like like Chicago or uh you know, Jacksonville.
Are you a coach that says, wow, I can turn
(26:59):
this around down fairly quickly because I have not one quarterback,
I have two. Well you guys they that will that
play any type of a part and how excited maybe
A I mean, I know you want to get the
money as a coach, but don't you want to try
to create some longevity because the only thing better than
(27:21):
getting the money is getting more money, right, Like, and
you could get more money by having success in longevity.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
Right.
Speaker 5 (27:27):
They've got a defense and they've got the defensive player
of the year they do, that's a building block. Their
offensive line isn't bad when healthy that actually that can
be a good unit. And they've got pieces like there's
this is a roster that's not the thirty second roster.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
It's not you know, probably the sixteenth roster. It's probably
better than that. Honestly. It's just a quarterback situation.
Speaker 5 (27:47):
And the fact that you play in the AFC North,
which is you know, you're in year out usually one
of the best. This year kind of a down year
for it. But I think next year with Burrow if
he's you know, still one hundred percent healthy for the
entirety of the season, who knows if Rogers comes back
or not, and then Lamar coming back. Like I look
at that, I say, it's a tough division to win.
(28:10):
So your work is cut out for you in regards
to your resume what it's going to look like, which
is one of the reasons why again going back to Stefanski,
who you know, years kind of flirted with five hundred
a couple of times, like got somewhat close and went
to the playoffs twice. Like Yeah, that's that's doing the job.
That's getting it done there. It's not easy to do,
(28:31):
but that's what it's attractive. You do have some personnel
there that you can build around, and outside of that,
you've got an owner too that you think that he's
going to be patient with you. I mean, Jimmy Haslims
in his past has gone through guys after one year,
but you think he would be patient with you a
little bit to at least give you two or three
(28:51):
years to build a thing.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
Let me ask you, guys, this is what's asking. You're
not really giving your opinion on this, which one because
I'm curious which one is the any thoughts on it?
Speaker 4 (29:04):
Yeah, yeah, I do. Well, we're the guys, but you
guys are the guys. Yeah, Like, if you want any
info about Browns, you come to Brady.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
Do you guys think that the Jets job is secure
because it didn't happen yesterday?
Speaker 2 (29:17):
Will it happen?
Speaker 1 (29:18):
And which one of these jobs do you guys believe
is the most attractive job?
Speaker 2 (29:23):
You're stupid bout it?
Speaker 1 (29:23):
Which which job is the most attractive job to to go.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
After if you're a coach? Which one is the dream job? Atlanta?
M Yeah, they're so they're so talented.
Speaker 4 (29:38):
If they're healthy, Stefans can Atlanta, that would be fun.
Like there's some people that are throwing the giants out there,
and I get it because it's the giants, But I.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
Think the giants is the most attractive. Actually, I put
the jolatile with it. Yeah, I'd put the giants up
there with it. That The concern is.
Speaker 5 (30:05):
To at least to me, is you have to be
a believer in Jackson Dart because if not, you basically
have a year of letting it self play itself out
and then having to like move on and so immediately
your first year could be a little rough.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
Yeah, I think that that is a major piece of it.
But I actually would be excited about having Jackson Dart.
I would be excited about that defense, and I would
be wondering. I would be thinking at add another weapon
on the outside with the receivers, and get a back,
(30:40):
and obviously you you want to work to.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
I would be I would still.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
Build out if I went to New York, right, I
would want to build my offensive line and make sure
my offensive line is stout and sturdy. But get a
get a back, find you a back, and and you
know backs haven't been valued obviously at the level that
(31:04):
would would cost you if you go and get you once.
So find you a really really good back and get
another another guy on the outside. I think that the Giants,
as much as they've struggled and as many coaches as
they've run through, I don't I really don't believe they're
that far away from being a competitive team and the
(31:25):
the NFC East.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
It's almost like if they had I don't know.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
Everything, if they had a Skwon Barkley. Cool, Yeah, they
had a sa Kwon Barkley. I think that they would
be maybe a piece or two away from where they
need to be.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
They got cam Scattaba before it's lake they do, they do,
and he's coming back they do.
Speaker 5 (31:45):
To the point of the offensive line, though, is they
had Saquon and you know, he never could become what
he was going to be coming to went to Philly. Truth,
which that's an offensive line. I think it's one of
the top two or three in the league.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
After it was in a first battlet hall of Famer
or at least a Hall of Famer. I don't know
if maybe maybe he isn't, but I don't know what
you guys think.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
But who Kelsey what Kelsey? Oh he's he's gonna a
Hall of Famer. Yeah, maybe not first back though, Well
it doesn't matter to me. Yeah. The general point though,
is that offensive line is one of the best in
the league.
Speaker 5 (32:23):
And so even even if you had a Saquon, like
to your point of building it up, like, the offensive
line needs to improve to the point where it is,
you know, one of the best.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
If they want to really maximize whatever.
Speaker 5 (32:33):
They have in the backfield, well that's Jackson, Dart and
camp Scotted but together next year or whoever else they
bring in but yeah, it's just That's the only reason
I'd say that is I think it's a little tougher
division to win. I think the roster is in an
interesting spot right now compared to the Falcons, which you
can make the case that both like Pennix and Jackson Dart.
You know, like Dart I think has proven it. It's
(32:55):
just a health concern. For Pennix. I don't know that
he's proven it yet, but it's there's definitely some health
concern there.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
He has issue.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
I don't believe he has, and I do think that
that's the bigger question mark out of the two quarterbacks
is Michael Pinnix. They were better with Cousins. They were
better with Cousins. They were better with Cousins, and Cousins
was brought there to be the starter. But if we're
talking long term again, now the question becomes you drafted
and and I think you did bring this up yesterday, Q.
(33:26):
You drafted Pinnis, and I think they they may be
the weight of bringing in Pinis, knowing that you had
already took the contract that you did from Cousins to
be the starter, you end up going with Pennis as
the starter. Penix doesn't live out. You know what the
expectation was for that draft pick that you could have
(33:49):
used on someone else to make your team that much better,
and he's not only not he's still unproven at this point,
but doesn't make it down the stretch and Kirk Cousins
comes in and plays well. Yeah, I think those are
a lot of elements that played a part in that.
But moving forward, what does that mean, because that still
(34:09):
creates complexities in terms of.
Speaker 2 (34:12):
What you're going to do. His cousin's going to be back.
Speaker 1 (34:15):
If he's not back, what does Penix represent to the equation.
Speaker 5 (34:20):
What's complex about it is Penix is going into year
three and after year three you have to really make
that decision on the fifth year option, and more than likely.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
If you really believe in the guy, an extension.
Speaker 5 (34:30):
But in this case, because he hasn't played enough, I
would say it's a huge year to see what you
have in Michael Pennix before moving on from him. So
most likely, you know they'll they'll he'll have to start
this upcoming year. Hopefully he's healthy in time, but they'll
have to see what they have in him, you know,
giving up a top ten pick to take him to
then see if they need to financially invest in him
(34:53):
following the off season between twenty twenty six twenty twenty seven.
So I would imagine that at least how it was
looked at before, and this might be different now that
Matt Ryan's in there and he's playing a role or
an advisory role to Arthur Blank, because we saw Rich
McKay got you know, fired as well, and he really
(35:14):
was the one above all of it.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
He was above Terry Fonn knew he was above Raheem Morris.
Those were his hires.
Speaker 5 (35:20):
If you recall, it was Rich McKay and some of
the others within the front office who wanted to push
Arthur Blank away.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
From interviewing Bill Belichick.
Speaker 5 (35:28):
So I think with what he's watched the past couple
of years, now, Arthur Blank's looking at saying like I'm
done with this, I.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
Want to move on. That's when I clean slate.
Speaker 5 (35:37):
Well, that's the head coach, general manager, you know, Rich McKay,
someone that you know president position to they're all gone.
I'm bringing in Matt Ryan. I trust Matt Ryan, who's
a player here. He's going to help advise me of
what this all is going to look like moving forward
and now this should work. So that's where the Falcons
are heading.
Speaker 1 (35:56):
And what games do you think in that type of like,
how does that work out? It's Matty Ice, how does
he have Is it just because he played there?
Speaker 5 (36:05):
Just because he's a player there and I think he's
respected amongst the organization. If you look at what Chris
Spielman's done in Detroit, it's a very similar model in
that respect.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
So, but don't you.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
Feel like like the Spilman family, liked to me, comes
across as a family of like they're knowledgeable about the
buildouts of an organization, of a personnel and stuff like that.
Matt's family very much as too, Okay, And that's why
I'm mad.
Speaker 2 (36:34):
He's like, what is that? What is this?
Speaker 1 (36:35):
What gives him the background or what gives him the
credibility of that being what? Because because ultimately, these are
the types of decisions that say is this a is
this a high functioning organization? Like making him a decision
like that, is it a high functioning organization decision? Or
is that a sentimental decision? Because the first thing you said,
(36:57):
Jonas was he might he's Mattie Ice, like, that's not
that doesn't screen highly functioning organization.
Speaker 2 (37:05):
That's the decision that doesn't get you in the door. Now,
I shouldn't let me just say this though. Outside of that,
there is no guarantee. And this means anything.
Speaker 5 (37:14):
Other than just, you know, Matt Ryan being put in
position where he feels like he can help and others
with blank believes he can help, and that's how they're
trying to build this. Yeah, but outside of that, no,
I mean, I could tell you his uncle was. I
think he was a professor who helped out University of Penn.
I went there for like an NFL you know program
they had at Penn, and I remember him being like, oh, yeah,
that's uncle. Okay, super sharp guy. I'm like, gosh, this
(37:37):
guy is obviously gonna be an incredible advisor, you know,
to Matt throughout the course of his career.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
And there's a bunch of people who were, like, you know,
a part of his family or involved that. Super super
sharp folks. He's super sharp, he's experience, so he's been
raised the right way.
Speaker 5 (37:55):
I think he's got a network around him that can
help too. And does he have experience? Absolutely, You're outside
of being an analyst for a little bit now and
after you got done playing, which you played for a
long time, you know that's gonna be what he's going
to base that off of, and that's not a bad thing.
Like as a quarterback, oftentimes, you know, you look at
things differently than other players. You know, you look at
(38:17):
how you're building a roster when you have discussions with
your offensive coordinator or your head coach if he's an
offensive minor guy. You're watching tape on guys who are
in the draft, and you're saying, hey, have you seen
this guy? Have you seen this guy? Because even throughout
the course of the season, like you're always watching like
different like college tape to see different concepts.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
And plays that are being run.
Speaker 5 (38:37):
Like I can't, I can't explain the amount of tape
that's watched from that one position because it dwarfs any
other position in football because of the manner in which
you're going to prepare and help game plan.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
You know, you're you're.
Speaker 5 (38:49):
Going out there with plays, You're going out there with
different ideas, You're going out there with different tweaks on things.
So a lot oftentimes you're still even watching some college
tape even though you're in the NFL to come up
with ideas, and you'll see players like there's different examples
of guys you know, looking at looking for different guys,
but you're also looking for like scouting, who would make
sense in what you need. So it's just quarterbacks have
(39:11):
always been prepared for jobs that are like within the
executive you know, an executive branch of any company, just
because of all the things.
Speaker 2 (39:21):
You're asked to do as a quarterback.
Speaker 5 (39:22):
How you're able to ask to present yourself to the media,
present yourself to the organization. How you're asked to be
a leader and stand up in front of the room,
the room, to lead meetings, to go throughout you know,
leading a team, and all that stuff. Like it's all,
you know, very very conducive for what.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
You're being asked to be as an executive.
Speaker 1 (39:39):
So what you're saying is, while you're choking and clearing
your throat out, what you're saying is is that you're
in in the pipeline too to be that type of
guy to somebody who's organizations.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
Better than us, Yeah, better than why he does talking
on the show because he's he's the quarterback.
Speaker 5 (39:58):
Are you going to get that you've talked more than
anyone on the shows so far today.
Speaker 2 (40:03):
No, I've asked questions. I'm not talking. It's still been
the most it's been long winded questions. Has it really
Hey really, I'm just saying his preparation, which I think
he's prepared for it. Yeah, you could be unaware. I mean,
I thought it was a great explanation.
Speaker 3 (40:21):
You know.
Speaker 1 (40:21):
Yeah, we're all team quarterbacks though, we're all a team.
But basically what he just said is we're a team
that has to understand he's the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
That's right. Okay, all right, where there you go. I'm
just telling you how quarterbacks are prepared.
Speaker 4 (40:35):
Hey, look, and how they're wired proofs in the pudding.
Troy Aikman's helping out the Dolphins. Their Brady's helping out
the Raiders. Got Ryan's helping out the Falcons. Here you go,
played quarterback.
Speaker 2 (40:44):
Helps just coming out and said he could coach the NFL.
So he wants in on it.
Speaker 1 (40:48):
Yeah, and it got reported, it got picked.
Speaker 2 (40:52):
Up the QB World out there.
Speaker 1 (40:56):
By the way, they hired Jeff Saturday to beat a
head coach. I'm just saying, and he won that first game,
all right, Now, he did play first game he did.
Speaker 7 (41:05):
There was no one who was more on his coat
tells in LVAR, that's so bad to work out.
Speaker 2 (41:12):
I was combative.
Speaker 5 (41:15):
You got combative after that win when we were like, yeah,
this isn't gonna work out.
Speaker 2 (41:20):
Hear none of it. I'm pro player, I'm proper. I didn't,
but I wanted him. I wanted him. No, you're pro QB.
I wanted him. I wanted him to.
Speaker 1 (41:29):
Be successful because I'm pro player, and I don't discriminate.
You know, I don't sit there and say, you know
all of the things you just said about your position group.
I just speak on the entirety of all of us
as players. That's that was why I wanted that to watch.
Speaker 7 (41:44):
So it was like when the quarterbacks are staying they're
late to watch film and different things, or like even
when you're at home watching stuff like I know, I
don't see all the guys doing that, Like when you
pull up early and you'll see anyone else in the
parking lot and no one else in the film room,
Like you're going all right, Like it's just different, there's
nothing wrong.
Speaker 2 (42:02):
It's all about vantage It's all about vantage points. That's all.
Speaker 5 (42:05):
I don't want to debate I don't want to debate
like it's a more mental position than physical.
Speaker 2 (42:10):
So it's just there's there's you.
Speaker 1 (42:12):
Can look at the body types and the athletic ability
of the position.
Speaker 2 (42:15):
Group, and no, it's more. It has to be more mental.
Speaker 1 (42:20):
Yeah, I mean, you couldn't just come off of the
street and play other positions.
Speaker 2 (42:25):
I'll say this, guys, I'm pro Brady Quinn. Oh, Patrick, Well,
that's what we just said. Pat, Damn, that's what we
just said. Damn a kiss ass. It should be fifteen
dollars pass, should be first.
Speaker 5 (42:42):
Fine, that's a ten dollars five first.
Speaker 2 (42:47):
That should be double, not sixteas in the new year.
Speaker 4 (42:51):
Come on like leading with the helmet and a throat
slash gesture afterwards.
Speaker 5 (42:56):
I don't know, like, I don't know what that was
or what you feel like warranted that. I don't know
if you're there's like something social media. I don't know
what's going on.
Speaker 1 (43:04):
There were certainly other players in the building early and
leaving late, other than the quarterbacks. By the way, I mean,
what what an elitist conversation and and and state.
Speaker 5 (43:17):
Because I didn't I never was around made defensive players
who stayed late enough toward the game.
Speaker 1 (43:23):
Maybe you just didn't see them. You know, it's like perspective.
Maybe you just didn't notice that they were there, because
I know some pretty pretty sharp dudes that played on
the defensive side of the ball.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
And we're there, you know, and there, Okay, we're there.
Speaker 1 (43:42):
I mean, And and that's to say, like, you know,
how many quarterbacks were doing that? I mean, that wasn't
really my experience with the quarterbacks that I was around.
Speaker 2 (43:53):
You didn't have the right quarterback, you do, now right?
Speaker 1 (43:59):
I would leave that what a load if I was
in a key key mode out to knocked that one
out of the park.
Speaker 2 (44:03):
But I'm gonna leave that one alone. Come on, let's
go to break break.
Speaker 4 (44:08):

Speaker 2 (46:03):
All right.

Speaker 1 (47:24):
I didn't know this show was the Odd Couple? So
if you're if you're walking us stream live, you know
we're we're actually two pros and a couple Joe, not
the Odd Couple?
Speaker 8 (47:33):
Oh god, okay, all right, well and you didn't do it.
In case you missed it, guys. DK Metcalf has responded
to the media. They asked him about a fan altercation
he had, and oh boy, he seemed not only in
phase to talk about it.
Speaker 2 (47:48):
Give a listen here. Can you explain to us what
happened in Detroit? If you had to be the one
to ask him?
Speaker 7 (47:53):
No, I can't there any like appeals and talking to
the NFL just walk us through that process.
Speaker 2 (48:01):
I can't walk out do nothing to happen. Were you
surprised if the appeal about Yeah, but that's all I
can say. I respect that you don't and can't really
go into a lot of it. Is there anything you
would like to clarify about? Misinformation? You know, I can't
say nothing about what happened that. I can't say anything
(48:22):
about what happened for the fifth time?
Speaker 1 (48:25):
Yike?
Speaker 2 (48:27):
Why why was that good? Sound? Pat anything? I think
that's why it's good? Sound sounds like a total a
hold y as me? Like five seconds of that.
Speaker 1 (48:39):
I don't understand, Like it's pretty simple what took place?
Like why not apologize maybe for hurting the team potentially,
you know, we lost the game?
Speaker 2 (48:52):
And is there a uh? Is?
Speaker 4 (48:54):
Like has there been any sort of filing from the
guy who he roughed out? Like is he trying to
you know, do a civil suit? Yeah, that's what because
maybe that's why he's been I felt like that was
probably might be because he already lost his appeal from
the NFL.
Speaker 1 (49:10):
Right, so if he's not talking about it, that's that's
probably potentially what it is.
Speaker 2 (49:14):
Trying to get some cash.
Speaker 1 (49:15):
Oh yeah, Okay, he held a press conference about it.
Speaker 4 (49:20):
With a backwards cap, like, come on, be serious, h DK,
come out.
Speaker 2 (49:23):
Tell them, yes, a suit and a backwards cap. Backwards,
that's an interesting look. Tell him DK.
Speaker 4 (49:31):
Tell him he's like, my family's been involved. Well, you
don't get involved, then they're threatening us.
