Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is the best of two pros and a couple
Joe with Lamar Arings and rating Win and Jonas Knox
on four Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
There is.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
This game that's going on, and it's the waiting on
Aaron Rodgers game. Now, some people have speculated, well, as
Rogers has taken his time, is he just trying to
try and figure out whether he wants to play, et cetera,
et cetera. Apparently Rogers has a preference. According to The Athletic,
(00:38):
that would be Mike Silver, Diana Rossini, and Alec Lewis.
Rogers is hoping to sign with the Minnesota Vikings and
is seeking an annual salary in the range of Sam
Darnold's and that the Vikings are strongly wighing the possibility
of Rogers. They also note that if Minnesota turns down Rogers,
there's a possibility that Rogers could retire as opposed to
(00:59):
play for either the Giants or the Steelers. But it
does appear that maybe this waiting is Rogers waiting to
figure out if Minnesota is all in on potentially bringing
him in to be the quote unquote mentor but starter
in Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Obviously, with JJ McCarthy.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
There and that's where we're at when it comes to
Aaron Rodgers, whether or not this deal is going to
get done and he's going to be playing in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
This upping.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
Now you're saying that's coming from a media source, it's
not the athletic.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
So here's my thing, right, how.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
Often has the Athletic reported things prior to it coming
out with Aaron Rodgers is what my first curiosity of
it would be.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
So Mike Silver and Aaron Rodgers know each other. There's
a connection there because I think Mike Silver went to
cal and Rogers and him know each other from that.
So that's why people look at this report.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
And go, well, there's validity. Yeah, there might be something
there to it.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
I'm not gonna I'll say this even if there is,
I'm going to say I look at this from a
loosely absorbed and consumed perspective. I'm not going to go
overboard and say this makes you know or this is
the validity of it is there, This is what it
(02:23):
sounds like it should be, and that's what it's going
to be. I don't think that it's a good play
to put it out there this way, even if this
is what your end goal is what you want your
end result to be. I do not think that at
this moment in time, that is the best decision to make,
(02:44):
especially knowing that this has been a conversation that has
kind of lingered on because we continue to talk about
in the media how every other quarterback that could be
available are kind of in a holding pattern until the
air quotes Aaron Rodgers. Domino falls. So I don't think
(03:05):
that this is even necessary, Like, why is this even
necessary to report and put out there? Now, If you're
putting it out there because that's that's what you think
you got to beat on, that's fine, because media does media.
But if I'm Aaron Rodgers and this is Aaron Rodgers team, sure,
sure you could have that one person that's the person
(03:27):
to the next person to the next person that's far
enough away from Aaron Rodgers where you have plausible deniability
to what it is that's been said. And and so
you put that out there just as a feeler, because
that's just kind of what's done in these types of situations.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
But you know, Jonas, I don't think that it's a
horrible thing.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
Again, and I've been ringing the bell and I'm not
really big on, you know, saying you know, somebody fits
in Pittsburgh at that position in particular. But I do
think that Pittsburgh should be looked at as as a valid,
valid spot.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
To end up.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
I know some people are, are, you know, beginning to
come out and kind of debate against that.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
I don't tend to look at it and feel as
though if you're looking at at Minnesota, Minnesota had a
very good year.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
They had a very good year.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
They lose their quarterback, Sam Darnold has a year that
rejuvenates and revitalizes his career, It pays dividends for him,
he goes to a different team, and so now they're
back to what do they have with JJ McCarthy. But
if I'm the Minnesota Vikings, I want to see what
I have with JJ. I want to see what I
(04:45):
have with McCarthy, and and I want to see if
he can come in and be that player that we
need him to be, void of paying a starting fee
to another player. I like, you could say, Okay, Minnesota's
kicking it around, and that's fine, but be clear, in
(05:08):
my estimation, if Aaron Rodgers, if the report has accuracy
to it, and Aaron Rodgers is basically saying, it's Minnesota
or bust.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
You're closer to retirement than you are to playing ball
because you're basically saying, if I can't get this one team,
if I can't get to this one team, I'm done.
And my estimation of that would be even if I'm
that one team, I still gotta take it into consideration
that if those reports are true, this man is basically saying,
(05:46):
if I can't get on this team, I'm going to retire.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Yeah, I mean I don't. I don't want that.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
To be the conversation of somebody that I'm going to
pay Sam Sam Darnold contract to.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
Like the going to Minnesota makes all the sense in
the world for Rogers, and we laid this out last
week first of all of all those teams, like that's
the best roster as far as what to work with
on the offense. Absolutely, And Kevin O'Connell, and you know,
the respect he has around the league as a play
caller and a coach, defending Coach of the Year, reigning
(06:20):
Coach of the Year makes all the sense of the world.
Speaker 4 (06:23):
Aaron Rodgers, that makes sense, But do you make that
type of declaration, But does it make sense for Minnesota?
Speaker 3 (06:30):
And I just wonder if the Vikings are looking at this,
and maybe there's a thought that like, yeah, well, you know,
if we bring him in for a year and it
goes well, then we find ourselves in the same spot
we were in this past year, where at some point
you got to see what you got in JJ McCarthy.
(06:51):
And there was speculation up until the final couple of
games of the regular or final couple of games of
the year for the Vikings, the finale and then the
playoff game that hey, maybe maybe we'll just keep Sam Donald.
And so I just wonder if the Vikings look at
this and go, at some point, we've got to find
out what we've gotten the guy that we drafted as
high as we did at quarterback and so or not.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
Now.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
But here's the thing, right, if it's a or not,
if it's not find out what we're going to do
with JJ McCarthy, then why do you not just keep
Sam Donald?
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Why why do you not just keep Sam Donald?
Speaker 4 (07:29):
If it's if it's really about, okay, we are going
to kick the tires on bringing in bringing in Aaron
Rodgers and Aaron Rodgers is saying this is the amount
of money he wants. It's kind of like two things
you don't say if you're where Aaron Rodgers is at
this point in his career. One retirement. You don't want
(07:51):
to hear retirement in the conversation. More often than not,
a guy who's throwing out retirement is already close to retirement,
like they're one foot in, they're one foot out. You
can't you can't have, you can't be I'm almost to
retiring and you're heading out to the battlefield like you
(08:12):
got to be all in. And so to me, it's
the same thing with with football.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
You got to be all in.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
So if you start throwing out retirement, then now you're
you've already sent out like a that's SOS signal that
you know, this could this could go wrong. You know,
guys who are closer to retirement they handle things a
little differently. You don't have the type of you know,
let's just say this type of influence or control in
(08:42):
those situations. So that's one, and then two. If you're saying, hey,
I want to come in, and that's being reported I
want to come in, but I want you all to
pay me the same amount of money is as Darnold.
You're basically saying, Okay, I'm Aaron rod I'm better than
(09:02):
than Darnald, and but I'll do this. I'll play for
you at the same price that that's that Darnald just
got going to Seattle.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
I just don't I don't feel as though.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
I don't feel as though if I'm Minnesota, it's like,
do I take a chance on a guy that has
struggled the last couple of years.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
I mean, we can.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
Debate his his stats at the end of last year
or this past year. Oh, he didn't do too bad,
da da da, they stink. The New York Jets stink.
This year they sucked. So if you want to, if
you want to look at his stat line and make
yourself feel better to try and justify the move, then
you go right ahead. But you're not paying attention to
(09:49):
what the total sum of what their season looked like.
And he played a major part in that period. So
I'm not going after Aaron Rodgers to pay him the
same amount that we could have paid to keep Sam
Donald after having the type of season that we add.
Doesn't make sense. That doesn't make sense, doesn't add up.
(10:09):
So if that is indeed the situation, I would be
more willing to lean towards the side of it doesn't
seem likely that Minnesota signs him if that's the number,
if that's the going rate for them to bring Aaron
Rodgers in, you just let Sam Donald go and there
had to be a strong reason why you let him go.
And that strong reason is not to bring in Aaron
(10:32):
Rodgers for the same amount of money that you would
have been paying Sam Donald.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
Yeah, I'm I'm you know, I don't know that I
would bet money on Rogers going to Minnesota. I would
love for it to happen. I think it'd be fascinating
just to see how it worked and out played out,
because I would like to see him get an opportunity
to close his career in an organization that's not a
clown show like I would like to see up.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
But he turned the organization that is in the clown
show into a clown act.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
Damn.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
I mean, let's just be clear. That's that circus tent
was up a long time ago.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
Okay, man, they had moments, Brett Favre had created the
Carousel act. But yeah, but but be clear, like the
Packers organization has done things the right way for a
really long time. I would argue that that was a
clown show. The big Top is all based around the
popularity of of how good their quarterbacks have been playing
(11:32):
in green Bay.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
That's it.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
Look at anything else, what else plays out in green Bay?
Speaker 2 (11:39):
What else? In fact, they were so.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
Good such a model, a model franchise that Reggie White
made it a thing as a free agent to actually
consider going to Green Bay, and then it turns into
like this thing. Then Charles Woodson goes to Green Bay.
I mean, it's a good organization. I've interviewed with Green Bay.
I told you I saw pick it, you know, dang
there butt naked with five trades of food.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
See, Reggie White did have some great momentum going with
free agents picking Green Bay. And then you got there
and decided you were above it. And well I just
didn't see very much there. I just went there and
I just didn't see very much there. Like like there
was a casino. I was in the casino, and that
was not very much there casino, and it just wasn't
(12:25):
just it just wasn't very much there.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
And I thought about going there, and then I thought
about the Cold. I thought about there not being very
much there, and it was like New York Cold, a
whole lot there.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
You know.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
I just I chose the market. I chose the media
market over probably over. I mean, both of them won
a Super Bowl within the time period I would have
been on the team one, one, two, you know, so.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
I think that you might have brought this up or
touchdown it last week. But one of the thoughts on
why he may not want to choose the Vikings Rogers
that is, is because he doesn't want to create an
issue with the fan base and the and the people
in Green Bay. It's something to think about, okay, but
(13:14):
like would they really care? It's something to think about,
that's all. I'll say. They've got their quarterback of the future.
It's been a couple of years. So he goes in
place for the Vikings. I just I don't know that
that would piss Packers fans off that much if Rogers decided, Hey,
I just you know, I'm gonna go back and play
for the Vikings again.
Speaker 4 (13:34):
You know, understanding the traits of of your fan base
is and my estimation, a true asset to what you
bring to the table. It's a value to what you
bring to the table, understanding the market that you're in,
understanding what what makes them go. It's it's just it's
(13:59):
an a and so to me, when you leave a team,
if you've had the type of career that Aaron Rodgers
has had, you think about you still continue to think
about your fans. Which is interesting because people will sit
there and say, well, you went to a divisional opponent.
I hated Dan Snyder, geez, and I did not have
(14:21):
a Hall of Fame career, an undeniable Hall of Fame
career in Washington. I was not of the level of
Aaron Rodgers when I left town to go to a
different team. So when I had the opportunity to go
to a team that would play against my former team twice,
I wanted to stick it to Dan Snyder, not to
(14:42):
the fans. But it still was received. You know, as
I was disgruntled FM, people were burning my jersey Da
Da Da, so on and so forth. If I'm of
the level and the stature of Aaron Rodgers, I don't
know how volatile you know, the the green Bay fan
base can get or be towards former players. You know,
(15:06):
obviously Brett Farv Broke the ice on that by going
to Minnesota and playing for Minnesota at one point in
his life. But I don't know if if Brett Farv
is as beloved he could have been more. I would
assume he could have been more beloved had he handled
(15:26):
the situation a little differently. You go to the New
York Jets, you go to a different team, it's a difference,
conference whatever. Like I think fans tend to look at
it and it's like, it's okay, you go to a
direct competitor where you know this is the team that
you're you're talking about. You know, Aaron Rodgers pulled out
the discount double check belt and was like, I own y'all.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (15:51):
That's how big the rivalry is between Minnesota and Green Bay.
Maybe not as big as the Beers in Green Bay,
but obviously Minnesota is more competitive right through here than
the Beers are. So I just think that it could
be an overstated deal to think that the fans play
a super major part in the legacy play of it
(16:14):
for Aaron Rodgers. But it is, however, something to think
about when making your decision.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
You're a Packers fan. If Rogers signed with Minnesota or
to piss you off. No, not really like it just
feels like it's this one feels different.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
Than far for some reason, Like, are you are you
asking the right Packers fan?
Speaker 5 (16:35):
Well, it sounded it was really premeditated with Farv, Like
you knew he was going to the Jets to get
to the Vikings because they had the whole clause in
his trade says you can't trade him within the NFC North.
So he actually had to play out the contract with
New York. But you knew all along when he left
that he was gonna go to Minnesota to stick it
to Green Bay. Like it was pretty premeditated. This one
seems just that more serendipitous. Did that make you feel
(16:57):
any type of way towards Brett Farvre? It made everyone
feel a certain way. I was far right or die,
so I rode with him. I became a Vikings fan
for a season.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
Yeah, what kind of Packers fan are you? I was
a far loyalist. Isn't that what?
Speaker 4 (17:16):
But isn't that what fantasy football is kind of doing
to the fan? I feel like fantasy football is taking
fans away from being this is my team.
Speaker 5 (17:26):
More so, I'd agree with that sentiment. But I wouldn't
say that for me specifically.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
But yeah, all right, Well I don't know that lead
to lap is the proper fan.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
How many leagues were you in last year? Uh?
Speaker 5 (17:38):
Four or five?
Speaker 2 (17:39):
How many of them got paid? Three? Everyone that you
didn't handle.
Speaker 5 (17:44):
I didn't win the championship, but I was in the finals.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
But you won because you kept the money I paid.
When did that happen?
Speaker 2 (17:54):
Three weeks? Yeah, it took a while. I paid out.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
He's a fantasy football whore. Like one's not enough. He's
got to have more. He's got to have an other league.
Speaker 5 (18:02):
Berdo's forcing me into his baseball league tonight? I got
a draft tonight.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
Why, I don't know, because he I don't know what.
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (18:10):
He has like twenty five players in this league.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
I don't understand it. Hey join my baseball league?
Speaker 1 (18:14):
Four?
Speaker 2 (18:16):
I need you, dude. Dang, that's cool. Blooded.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
So Gay.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
Congratulations to the ninety nine cent store of the NFL.
The Cincinnati Bengals, who have figured out a way to
hand out some contracts. Jordan Schultz reporting last night the
Bengals have reached agreement on contracts with wide receivers Jamar
Chase and t Higgins. Jamar Chase gets four years, one
(18:57):
hundred and sixty one million dollars with one hundred and
twel million dollars guaranteed, making him the highest paid non
quarterback in NFL history. T Higgins gets four years, one
hundred and fifteen million dollars, with the first two years guaranteed,
making him the highest paid wide receiver two in NFL history.
So congratulations the Cincinnati Bengals. They've knocked out two of
(19:19):
the three. What this means for Trey Hendrickson, who knows,
but Joe Burrow has called out the organization. He's made
it a point. Listen, Philly can figure out ways to
get all these deals done and keep their guys, you know,
like they somehow figured out a way to make all
this happen, and the Bengals keep two of their Big three,
and now we wait to see whether or not they
(19:39):
can get something done with Trey Hendrickson.
Speaker 4 (19:42):
Now all they have to do is address a few needs,
you know, probably across the offensive line. But I mean,
if you look at at these two signings, it's this
very critical to the Cincinnati Bengals ability and their opportunity
to keep the window open for trying to compete for
(20:05):
a Super Bowl championship. I think these are really really
big signings, quality signings. You had to do it, at
least for Chase. Now with t Higgins, that does show growth.
Obviously that could be, as you mentioned, the pressure from
Joe Burrow. But make no mistake about it, if you're
(20:26):
putting your team in a real opportunity, a real position
to win games. Knowing that these are both one receivers,
these could be one receivers on any single team in
the National Football League. So I think that you got
it right here. Now what they do with Hendrickson. You
(20:47):
gotta have defense. I mean, especially in the AFC North,
you gotta have defense. And if you're not going to
bring back Trey Hendrickson, you definitely have a case to say,
we spend our money on the offensive side and we're
going to work to be serviceable on the defensive side.
But if it turns out that your defense is your
(21:08):
Achilles hill moving forward, it will come back to bite
you that you let key players, key pieces of your defense,
get away, like Hendrickson. So not exactly sure. And by
the way, what is it Hubbard? Is it Hubbard or Hubert?
As Hubbard was the other defense end he just retired.
(21:30):
So you're you're you're losing basically the backbone of what
I would perceive your defensive front.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
You're you're losing that. And and so.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
While signing these large contracts to the quarterback, to now
both your your big time receivers, what are you doing
to address your defense? I think that now that turns
into the biggest project for Cincinnati this offseason is to
try to figure out how to retool that defense because
(22:08):
unless I mean, listen, what what what did what did
Borrow throw for over five thousand yards? He was he
was he was dealing out there, and it still wasn't
good enough for them to even make the playoffs. So
you're going to have to have a defense. If you
think that signing these contracts means that you're going to
(22:28):
score more points than your opponents while your your defense
is very very poors in nature, I don't think that
that's that is certainly not the correct way to approach
going into the season, especially if you want to take
full advantage of the fact that you do now have
some some you know, at least two years of trying
(22:50):
to make things work with with your offense with Burrow
and these receivers.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
I mean, listen, at least they got it done.
Speaker 3 (22:58):
Like we were wondering whether or not this was gonna
be happening at all for the Bengals, So at least
at least they showed some promise that they're trying to
figure this whole thing out. I'm just doing some quick
math here because I wanted to make sure that I
had this correct. And before I say that, I want
to say what Jeremy Fowler ESPN reported over the weekend
(23:18):
that on the Trey Hendrickson conversation, so he wants a
new contract well above thirty million dollars per year. According
to Jeremy Fowler, the Bengals have tried to sign him,
they made him a contract offer, and I'm even told
despite trade talks, they've had some reignited discussions with Hendrickson's
people over the past few days, but it still hasn't
(23:39):
gotten anywhere. It looks like the bengals priorities are those
two wide receivers, which they got done. So he's certainly
opened to a trade at this point. I'm hearing the
Bengals have not been overly eager to accept those trade calls,
and they've gotten them to look into it and really
seriously entertain a trade.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
Here.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
It seems like they still want to try and find
a way to keep Trey Hendrickson, But the question is
do they have the cash to do it? If you're
the Bengals' a here's the reality Trey Hendrickson, just to
show you the value he has on that team. Last
year had seventeen and a half sacks, so a lot right.
(24:16):
Everybody else on the Bengals combined had eighteen and a half, So,
like you know, I feel like he's kind of showing
you that there's a wide gap between him and everybody
else as a pass rusher on that team. And when
you're one of the bottom third teams in sacks in
(24:39):
the NFL and that guy makes up basically half of
your entire team total, I know that the wide receivers
were a priority.
Speaker 2 (24:48):
They got to figure out a way to try and
get this done, Like, I.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
Don't know how this get creative, Like call Howie Roseman, Hey,
how would you do it? If you But if they
decided to move on with well, I'm just saying like,
if they decide to move on from Trey Hendrickson but
decide to keep the two wide receivers, you just you
open yourself up to criticism from your fan base and
people in the league if Hendrickson goes elsewhere and you're
(25:13):
just basically gonna have to try and win shootouts.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
You gotta win shootouts.
Speaker 4 (25:16):
I mean, I don't even think Trey Hendrickson, clearly, even
his seventeen sacks didn't make things better. You know, it
didn't make it worse, of course, I mean, obviously production
is production. You can never be mad at production. But
this defense needs to be again kind of tooled in
(25:39):
a way where it can have some some real success.
How far away they are from that, I'm not certain certain.
But if if you're if you're dealing on the offensive
side the way that they just did in getting these
two receivers signed at the same time to to really
really big contract, the biggest contracts, then you got to
(26:02):
be thinking we don't have a whole lot of time.
You don't have a whole lot of time, So you
got to continue to be aggressive. If you're just aggressive
and in getting your offense to where they need to be,
and that's what you're your focus is on and purely
that's it, and you're just going to be looking at
(26:25):
the defense as it's just, uh, you know, a piece
of a piece, a part of the full machine. I
think you're you You've terribly underestimated the value of what
having good defense and having elite defensive players on your team,
what that's like. So it could be a hard lesson.
(26:47):
It could it could be. I mean, whatever it is
they want to get done, they got to get it done.
So I'm interested to see how the GM and how
this scouting group what it is that they do in
order to address their biggest hole, in their biggest need,
which is their defense. Their defense has to be better
against the pass, it has to be better against the run,
(27:08):
it has to be better overall. And you have had
one shining, one shining piece of one shining part of
your defense, and that's Hendrickson, and now he may not
be coming back. So they got a lot of work
to do, even though it's one side of the ball.
But they still have a lot of work to do.
But give them credit where credit is due. They did
(27:29):
open up their you know, loosened up the perse string,
so to speak, in order to bring in or bring
back two very elite receivers in the league.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
We kind of mentioned this a little bit last week.
There's teams in the NFL that look at the Bengals
and go, I want to trade like like not actually trading, Yeah,
you want to trade spots, give me your roster, like please,
Like we would love if our problem was we've got Joe. Now,
(28:01):
we've got to figure out a way to keep three
of the best players at their position in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (28:06):
We've got Joe Burrow. We need to build everything else
up so that we can. Like if you look at
Kansas City, they built that defense up. The defense has
been known to bail that team out even if Patrick
Mahomes is Patrick Mahomes. That has happened.
Speaker 3 (28:24):
That's the part that's frustrating about watching this whole thing
play out with Cincinnati. It's like, dude, just you have
this window here that and these windows close fast. Like
ask the Niners, Ask Niner fans how they feel about
their window right now, Like these windows close fast. You
(28:45):
got to a Super Bowl. You got one of the
best quarterbacks in the NFL, he's on the short list.
You look at Joe Burrow, You're like, Yeah, this guy's
probably gonna be a Hall of Famer. Like that's the
way his career is projecting.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
At this point. You've got all of this at your disposal.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
Whatever it takes, get crafty, splurge a little bit, you know,
set up a sponsorship with Skyline and try and you know, uh,
I don't know what's the other on Gold Coast. That's
what they're known for. Apparently, Listen, Cincinnati's known for three things.
The Bengals, Skyline, Chili, and Andy Furman. And that's it,
(29:24):
in no particular order. So whatever you need to do,
just figure out a way to keep three of the
best players at their position in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
The Carson Palmer situation, like there has been.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
Times throughout the course of their career, Corey Dillon left
on bad terms, Like there's been times throughout the course
of their franchise's history where they have mismanaged because they've
nickel and dimed.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
I'm sure TJ.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
Husmanzad has got stories where they've nickel and dimed great
players that they've had and probably blown opportunities to compete
for Super Bowls more often. You have your chance now,
don't have it up.
Speaker 4 (30:01):
You've never had a Joe Burrow ever in the history
of your organization, not Boomer or any other quarterback you
may want to name. You've never had a Joe Burrow.
And I would say, if you never had that type
of talent and now you have it, you got to
do what you have to do in order to try
(30:21):
to see it through. You may never have another quarterback
come to Cincinnati of the level and the caliber of
player that Joe Burrow is.
Speaker 6 (30:30):
Now.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
While I'll sit there and say I believe Patrick Mahomes
is far and away the best quarterback in the National
Football League, I just had TJ.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
Speaking of TJ.
Speaker 4 (30:41):
I just had TJ pushback and say he would say,
Joe Burrow is in the conversation. Whether you subscribe to
it or not, it's a conversation. I think it is
Patrick Mahomes. But nonetheless, if I'm Cincinnati, I know what
I have in Joe Burrow through for more yards than
Joe Burrow. The dude is money. When he's healthy, and
(31:07):
and Jamar Chase is as good as it gets at
the receiver's position. And t Higgins is such a perfect
compliment with his size, his ability, his skill. It just
creates a conversation of can you create enough of a
run game to keep defenses honest? And can you defense
(31:31):
these offenses? Can you defense a Josh Allen? Can you
defense of Lamar Jackson twice a year? You know, those
are the questions that you're going to have to answer,
you know, And whatever may happen in Pittsburgh, if they
get Aaron Rodgers or whoever it may be. I mean,
elite is elite, and we'll just go with Lamar Jackson
(31:53):
right now. But you know, you got to still be
able to deal with the way they play football in
the a f C North, and Joe Burrow has shown
that he can. But Joe Burrow has also shown that
he can be defensed, or at least this team can
be out offensed.
Speaker 3 (32:10):
And by the way games not nothing in rupt. But
Joe Burrow did all of this this past year coming
off the injury he had last year. Remember, people were
wondering whether he'd ever be the same. Remember he like
grabbed a water bottle and people were like, God, look
at the way he gripped that. There's there's still was no, no,
it was not that was actually that was not me
(32:31):
that I thought that was you. People were like zooming
in on the way and he had to answer for
the for that after the game, like they asked him
about he goes, well because I grabbed the water bottle,
Like there was people that thought they were listening to
our show. They heard you say I would never say that. Yeah,
I would never say uh. But there were people that
were wondering, like, sick is this is this dude gonna
be the same player? And all he did was come
(32:53):
back and have the best season of his career.
Speaker 4 (32:55):
So yeah, man, he was not the best results and
that still has to be taken into consideration. Get it,
you didn't get the best results, but you did have
the best year statistically that you've had. So you have
to figure out ways to maximize those best ever moments?
(33:15):
Like why waste those best ever moments? Yeah, you know,
because you'll waste them far too many times. Before you
know it, you've wasted an entire you know, three, four
or five years of not putting the right team together.
If this team doesn't play for a super Bowl at
some point, who's ever running this team probably should step down.
Speaker 2 (33:38):
Damn.
Speaker 4 (33:39):
I mean, if you think about it, If you think
about it, if you're the GM of this team and
the Joe Burrow experiment does not yield you at least
one super Bowl before that era ends, that GM, if
that was the GM that brought Joe Burrow in and
built that team, should probably have to take a step down.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
Damn.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
He's that good, like a kid, he's that good. Trying
to enjoy Saint Patty's Day. You're calling for jobs here, Well,
I'm just calling for sensibility. It's just sensible. That would
be like if Peyton Manning never got a Super Bowl. Like,
if you drafted Peyton Manning and you weren't able to
get to a super Bowl, you should probably walk away
(34:25):
as a GM if you aren't able to build a
team around Peyton Manning. He's being labeled a savant, and
I got to tell you, I think Joe Burrow is
on the same on the same level.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
He's a savant. Yeah, so I good.
Speaker 3 (34:43):
We shall see two pros and a cup of Joe
here on Fox Sports Radioations.
Speaker 4 (34:49):
By the way, yeah, I don't want to. I don't
want to end on a negative, negative note. They did
something very positive, something that is very out of character
for them. So there you go, go for them and.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
Can gratulations of Jordan Schultz on getting the getting the
scoop there, and I'm reporting on that line and bringing
it on our show to talk to us even though
have you talked back to him, Lee?
Speaker 2 (35:10):
He shook his head.
Speaker 5 (35:11):
Yeah, yeah, I talked to him last Thursday when he
he wanted to reschedule for this upcoming week, this upcoming week, Yeah, okay,
all right, because he was going to join us on Friday. Okay,
last Friday.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
What happened? He said, something came up. He couldn't do.
Speaker 5 (35:25):
Friday, so he was hoping that we was both yea,
he was like me too, you know, something came up
for me too. You know, something came up for both
of us, so you know, don't worry about it. We'll
figure it out.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
I love that. Do you think.
Speaker 4 (35:37):
Do you think George, do you think he'll ever end
up on the show?
Speaker 2 (35:41):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (35:42):
And then I was taxing up yesterday, but it was
right as the and he was the one dropping it
as we're talking about Uh, it was right before the
Bengals stuff dropped, so I'm sure he was just busy
and didn't get back to me.
Speaker 2 (35:53):
I mean, you do know we are a media outlet.
Speaker 4 (35:55):
It's not like you guys are like chumming it up
as like home boys or anything like that.
Speaker 2 (35:59):
You know, if he's.
Speaker 4 (36:00):
Getting breaking news and you're in contact with him, you
know you could be like, hey, you know, you could
come on two pros with a couple of Joe the conversation.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
He'll be honest with you. I think there's a better
chance at L Choppo.
Speaker 3 (36:10):
Joins the san Jordan Schultz, I don't. I mean, the
pursuit of Jordan Schultz is one of the most amazing things.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
We've ever accomplished on this show. We still haven't landed him.
Speaker 4 (36:23):
They made they made a movie about Pursuit of Happiness too,
and it starred Will Smith. But if this was the
true story of Lee to lap On Pursuit of Happiness,
do you think it would have ended the same way?
I forgot how that movie ended. Oh he won, Yeah,
(36:43):
he won big, and then he was low. He was
as low as low gets. They brought him into the firm,
and then he won by the way. That's his only
good movie.
Speaker 3 (36:51):
Will Smith. Congratulations to him. It was a really good movie.
I met the real guy in real life, like the
guy that they made the movie about. Yeah, he spoke
out an event that I was at. Real cool, dude,
I'm going I'm going.
Speaker 1 (37:07):
To be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros
and a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington,
and Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
Are you a corn beef and cabbage?
Speaker 4 (37:19):
Go?
Speaker 2 (37:20):
Oh? Yes?
Speaker 3 (37:21):
Corn beef Yes? Is one of the most underrated meats
out there. I think it's fantastic, especially if it's done correctly.
Oh god, cabbage and corn beef is that's a winner
with some carre. Cabbage by itself is a winner. I mean,
I just you got a cabbage, also underrated. I really
enjoy fried cabbage. Do you fry your cabbage?
Speaker 2 (37:42):
You never had? Is fried cabbage good? Oh? Bro bruh,
never had that. I never thought to do.
Speaker 4 (37:48):
That with bacon and and and onions. I've never done that.
Oh bruh, what do you mean? I gassy food?
Speaker 2 (37:57):
Cabbage is the biggest fart make. Yeah, yeah, I would.
Speaker 3 (38:02):
I would, I'd advise everyone to kind of keep their distance.
Speaker 2 (38:06):
It's you still got a COVID mask. It's in your
glove box. Pull that out and and bore it tomorrow,
because the one with a filter on it.
Speaker 7 (38:16):
If you're doing corn beef and cabbage steamed, steamed with
some some garlic, garlic, butter, and some garlic salt with
with corn beef.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
Or with bacon, yeah, you're gonna need onions. It's so
good though, much that happen? Are you guys doing corn
beef and cabbage tonight? You got to know, now that
you've said it, we might need to do it. It
might have to happen, might have to happen, might have
to happen.
Speaker 3 (38:44):
It tasty man, plus when like then you can do
sandwiches after that too.
Speaker 4 (38:48):
Burning bro, I'd be doing my thing and that the
kitchen man. I'm just telling you, my smushburger is a
freaking vibe broh.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
It really is. That's why I had to call it
smush Brother, smush burger. Bamn.
Speaker 3 (39:07):
I'm just saying, it's two pros and a cup of
joe here and doing it all live here from the
tire spot.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
What do you uh? I don't know.
Speaker 4 (39:20):
I don't know, but I'm telling you, my, my, my
smush is ridiculous. Bro, It's ridiculous. Next time I do it,
I'm a FaceTime you want to show you. I put
it in the tinfoil and everything. When I finish it,
it's amazing.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
Speaking of which, I figured out a trick on the oonie. Okay,
so I wanted to use it yesterday. I have no
pro pae though.
Speaker 3 (39:44):
Oh man, I figured I because you know, the like
if you do pizza at home, like a lot of
it is the crust like that. People say, Well, the
big difference between that and like a pizza you would
get from a pizza parlor.
Speaker 2 (39:57):
It's hot enough to burn that pressed up.
Speaker 3 (39:59):
So what I figured out is if you do the
dough and you add the sauce and then put it
in and then add the toppings. You put it in
for a little bit, take it out, and then add
the toppings afterwards, and put it in. It cooks way
better and the crust is way better.
Speaker 2 (40:17):
That's interesting. Yeah, So I'm that I tried that out yesterday.
Speaker 4 (40:21):
You start with just the crust, but the crust doesn't
stay melted. I mean, it doesn't stay much down.
Speaker 3 (40:26):
So you do you do the so you put the crust,
after you roll it out, you do your dough, you
put your pizza sauce on. What I like to do
is I put butter on the edge of the crust
and then you put your pizza sauce on. You put
it in with just a pizza sauce. Then you take
it out so it's a little bit brown, and then
(40:47):
you put the toppings on just a little bit brown
because you don't want to you're good. Yeah, basically, it's
always better to do it like that. And then so
so that's.
Speaker 4 (40:58):
Always add more butter while you're trying to take it
from light skin the dark skin.
Speaker 3 (41:03):
No, I try and keep it as light as possible
because that's always better.
Speaker 8 (41:10):
So you're you ought to be a shaved to yourself.
Speaker 2 (41:25):
How dare you? All right? So the brackets rout.
Speaker 3 (41:29):
We're gonna give you details and how you can come
get that work from members of the show here. But
the big one of the big debates was North Carolina.
North Carolina who got in? People are outraged and angry.
You know, there's close to seventy teams that got in,
but man, it's that one that really really caused the
big problem and the big issue there. So ncamn's basketball
(41:53):
vice chair Keith Gill spoke about the decision to put
North Carolina in.
Speaker 2 (41:58):
What went into it yesterday. Let's take a listen.
Speaker 6 (42:01):
I had lots of discussions about North Carolina. You know,
Saturday night, we took our final vote and we voted
in four teams in the field on Saturday night, and
we had a contingency vote, and the contingency vote that
was the last team in the field, and it was
based on Memphis and UAB. If Memphis won that game,
(42:21):
then that was going to free up the spot in
the tournament and that was going to be North Carolina.
If UAB had won, then Memphis was going to be
in the tournament. UAB would have been in the tournament
in North Carolina would have been the first team.
Speaker 2 (42:34):
Out works for me.
Speaker 3 (42:36):
Okay, so she's pretty transparent like that, good good, all
good here, no complaints. The brackets are out, the tournament's here.
Let's just enjoy it, like everybody can you know, bitch
and moan if they'd like to, but let's just enjoy it.
The brackets here and let's all have a damn good time.
It's like, come on, dude, who cares.
Speaker 4 (42:56):
That's a big ass bracket man, And listen, you want
to get it right because you don't want a team
that is deserving of the opportunity to get passed up
and passed over. But that's got to be a very
very difficult task with all of the programs that are
out there and measuring and weighing, all the components that
(43:17):
are used to measure and wig. I just think that
that's a pretty hard proposition. So but like you said,
I mean, the bracket is set, and I'll say this,
maybe a Cinderella team got left out, got left off,
Maybe a team got in that maybe shouldn't have been in.
(43:39):
One thing, I know for certain, the idea of one
of those teams that didn't get selected them winning at all. Yeah,
I probably bet the bank on it that none of
those teams that are sitting at home right now would
have won a tournament. I do believe every team that
(44:02):
has a chance of winning the NCAA tournament is in
the tournament.
Speaker 2 (44:07):
They're on the bracket.
Speaker 3 (44:10):
You imagine like like whoever was you know, one of
the first four teams out, Like whatever, If you want
to say, Ohio State or somebody like that. Imagine like
at the end of this whole thing, Duke's cutting down
the nets and somebody's like, man, I got to tell you,
if Ohio State would have just gotten a chance, they
would have won it all. No, they probably wouldn't have. Okay,
(44:33):
And there's no guarantee North Carolina is going to win
a game. They've got the plan. They're gonna be taken
on San Diego State that's coming up in the South Region.
So there's no guarantees that North Carolina is gonna win
that game. But the idea that that one team is
really what needs to what we've got to have the
(44:53):
discussion about when talking about the tournament, Like there's sixty
eight teams. God forbid, one got in that maybe had
less of a resume than the other one.
Speaker 2 (45:06):
Like it's like, what do we do.
Speaker 3 (45:07):
This isn't the college football Playoff, This wasn't the four
team playoff. When people were bitching and moaning about Florida
State not getting in a couple of years ago, like
everything's going to be all right, fill out your bracket
and shut the hell uput the hell up. Yeah, professional, Oh,
you know some people aren't.
Speaker 4 (45:28):
But I I mean you would shoot it differently on
your private time.
Speaker 2 (45:32):
Well you know, no, I don't know. You know that
you don't go that deep with it.
Speaker 4 (45:36):
Okay, definitely not all right, No, no, you're not that
angered by.
Speaker 2 (45:41):
I'm not angry. You know what I'm angered by. And
you were about to do a read.
Speaker 4 (45:45):
But you know what, I'm angered by one of them them,
eaglitz that I'm upset by it.
Speaker 2 (45:54):
He's not here anymore. I don't know is it's still
up to two?
Speaker 5 (45:57):
There's still two, there's still two was missing. I don't
know if they exactly what happened.
Speaker 3 (46:05):
Oh, you guys are surprised by that. I wonder what happened.
Every time they pan over to that still shot.
Speaker 2 (46:10):
Just just smothering them.
Speaker 3 (46:12):
That fat ass is just laying around, not doing anything.
Go get them food, just smother there's two of them.
There's a moment dead and cool. They're both dead beats,
and it's snowing up there.
Speaker 2 (46:22):
They need to be warmed up, dead beat bald eagles.
Speaker 4 (46:26):
Well, now they got their food because they ate brother
or sister. Yeah, you know it's missing. We don't know,
we don't know what happened. Which one do we eat.
Speaker 2 (46:36):
What do you think of that one? He's out there?
Speaker 3 (46:41):
Yeah, they should call Bird Services and take those kids
away from that mom. Hawk about poor parenting? Yeah, dead beat?
Speaker 2 (46:51):
What you do?
Speaker 3 (46:52):
Blow all the money on booze? Some drug addict bird
can't take care of her kids. We're supposed to feel
bad about them.
Speaker 2 (47:00):
Hey, he's been unemployed.
Speaker 5 (47:03):
Shame.
Speaker 4 (47:06):
My man has been unemployed for over over six weeks.
Speaker 2 (47:10):
Now, shame. Do y'all want a hamburger?
Speaker 7 (47:15):
Shame? Shame?
Speaker 3 (47:18):
They say we don't qualify or government assistance.
Speaker 2 (47:22):
You mean, aren't we your bird? Are we not Joe Burg?
Can we can we get some Can we get some
government tease at least? Uh? Dang? By the way, hard
up here.
Speaker 3 (47:41):
If you want to be a part of this bracket challenge,
just spoiler alert, No, you're not gonna win. Like you'll
lose to every member of this show. We're going to
serve out toe tags during this Bracket.
Speaker 2 (47:52):

That chuck is hilarious. Bro Chuck is hilarious.
Speaker 3 (49:17):
What happened? It's the sunlight hitting you. Sunlight messed up? Man,
You see it.
Speaker 2 (49:27):
You guys are vampire racist. That's a problem. Yeah, oh yeah,
it's accurate. It's pretty It looks like I think I
have that jacket.
Speaker 8 (49:40):
Now.
Speaker 3 (49:41):
I would like to give a special shout out to
somebody here on the show. This is you know a
lot of people say they want to win a super Bowl,
like they're all about it, like they really really want
to win a super Bowl. I want to give a
shout out the Buffalo Bills. Man, I think the Buffalo
Bills are serious.
Speaker 2 (49:58):
You think they're serious? What makes you think?
Speaker 3 (50:00):
Bet so much so that they went out and acquired
Larry Ogum Joby and Michael Hoyt this year this offseason. Yeah,
both have been suspended the.
Speaker 2 (50:10):
First six game of the seasons.
Speaker 3 (50:13):
Yeah, they got a pissed hot So the Bills are
at least looking at this going, Hey, Larry Ogin, Joby,
Michael Hoyt the strongest.
Speaker 2 (50:24):
We know you're on.
Speaker 3 (50:24):
The gas, but the fact that you're willing to go
to that length to try and get on this team
and and know that we're serious about winning the super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (50:34):
We support you, yeah, you know what, and we'll welcome
you back with open arms.
Speaker 3 (50:38):
And when you get back, a lot of people could
sit there and judgment. Those guys just want it more
than you and they're willing to sacrifice their reputations to
try and get Buffalo. So for the record, here on
March seventeen, twenty twenty five, you've got.
Speaker 2 (50:52):
Our support here.
Speaker 4 (50:53):
There's something out you ain't trying to, right. I mean,
some people really subscribe to that.
Speaker 2 (50:59):
By the way.
Speaker 3 (51:00):
Imagine Larry jog and Joby going up to Brandon Bean
and being like, hey, man, just see you know I
pissed hot, like it's hot, Like hey, hey, hey, the
block is hot, homie Brandon Bean like block is hot. Well,
my seat is hot if we don't win a Super Bowl,
so we'll just take it and uh and we'll deal
with that later. So uh so those guys are going
(51:22):
to be sitting out the first port for first portion of.
Speaker 2 (51:24):
Next Can you just cycle Can you cycle off? Guys?
Speaker 4 (51:28):
Can we please just cycle off for for the next
six weeks or something?
Speaker 2 (51:31):
You know, who is it, pac Man Jones, He's the Wizardator.
He talked about that
