Speaker 1 (00:02):
It is the best of two pros and a couple
Joe with lamar As rating Winn and Jonas knots on radio.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
How the hell are we feeling here on this Tuesday morning.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
It's great to be Flora's good floor good, It's great
to b Yeah, that is the man.
Speaker 4 (00:28):
Jump came back. Come on, Houston.
Speaker 5 (00:32):
Well, the final possession left a lot to be desired
there gags like that.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Geez, gag city.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
Was that worse than the time out by Chris Webber?
I mean, just shoot it right or pass it or something,
do something other than what he did.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
I mean, you know, but it was.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
It was like the entire team, no one want to
shoot it.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Yeah, it was a rough ending.
Speaker 6 (00:58):
Congratulations to the Florida Gators getting it done. Who if
you had to say best team in the tournament, that's fine.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
Yes, I mean second half team for sure. One last time. Huh,
there you go.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Good morning.
Speaker 7 (01:17):
Damn.
Speaker 8 (01:18):
I mean.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
You know what you sit back for you you don't
want to listen to that song? Come on, s Luthor,
the ball is tipped. Come on so bad man?
Speaker 4 (01:29):
There you are.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
I try I avoided everything running for your lie. Second.
Speaker 6 (01:33):
The game's over, I'm out. I don't want to see
any of it.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
That's what I wait for.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
I wait for this moment they play a different they
play a different version of the song every year.
Speaker 6 (01:43):
Let me know what the game's over so I can
turn it on. Yes, yes, absolutely, this is so lame.
Why nothing more overblown than people celebrating that song at
the end of the tournament like this is really this
is the kapper?
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Like, no, it's over. That just shows your true propensity
to be a hater. That's that's really what this does. Yeah,
you're a hater, bro. And uh and for what? Like
those young men you know have worked their asses off
to to get to this point, agreed, as stated, probably
(02:20):
the hardest tournament to win. Yeah, and just because you
weren't the champion doesn't mean that you didn't have memorable moments.
Like all those guys had one shining moment, but Florida
had the shining moment. Yeah that has been poisoned by
that song.
Speaker 4 (02:39):
Wow, maybe they should.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Maybe they should finish up the tournament with the song
you come in at the three a Ramstein.
Speaker 6 (02:48):
Yeah, there you go, mind twal to finish up a
turn Yeah, please, I'd be all in. But the second
the game is over. I'm out done, done deal, Although
if you did stick around post game, you could hear
a little bit of Calvin Sampson. Afterwards, Kelvin Sampson did
talk about the you know what went on that final play.
(03:10):
He talked about what went on that final play and
why Houston wasn't able to get up a shot trailing
two with the national championship.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
On the line.
Speaker 9 (03:17):
Yeah, I'm just going through those last two possessions more
than anything else. It's incomprehensible in that situation. We couldn't
get a shot, get a shot. We're down two and
obviously we didn't need a three. But you know, with
the manual, we were struggling to score the entire second half.
(03:38):
We got good looks, but Florida was doing a good
job running us, running us off the line and forcing
us to score it. But we didn't score it well
enough to win. He scored it well enough to be
in a position to win. So it comes down to
those at the end. You've got to you gotta get
(04:00):
you gotta get a shot. Gotta be better than that.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
He said, like you laying on a couch sounds exhausted. Well,
I have eating pizza and some some melted ice cream.
Speaker 6 (04:13):
Damn, that's I mean, it was, Uh, that's an unfortunate
conclusion in the tournament. He would have been the oldest
head coach to win it, right, I believe so, yeah, yeah,
I believe that wasn't.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
There to going into it.
Speaker 5 (04:30):
But I mean think about Houston's history and basketball though,
I mean they've they've come so close now three separate times,
only to fall short.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Five slam a Jama. Yeah, couldn't get it done. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (04:45):
By the way, I confused the the Twin Towers yesterday
with the Houston Rockets, not the Houston Cougars.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Who were the twin Towers of the Houston Rockets, Ralph Samson,
they called them the twin Towers.
Speaker 5 (04:58):
Yeah, in the neck of the day, Jonas, how is
Jim Nance going to take this lawsuit?
Speaker 4 (05:06):
Was there any cutaways? Last time?
Speaker 6 (05:08):
Of course there was of course, like does Houston not
have a more famous alum?
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Like did they not have a great question?
Speaker 4 (05:15):
Do you want to look this up? I leave Jim
Nance famous.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Alum, but you want to grock this Houston's famous. I
just said I came Elijah one. Yeah, he went there,
but he didn't get Drexler went there.
Speaker 6 (05:29):
He didn't get a fraction of the cutaway time that
Jim nance got.
Speaker 4 (05:33):
Is that because he calls the games?
Speaker 2 (05:35):
No, not anymore.
Speaker 5 (05:36):
I was also going to say, you kind of have
to go with non athletes, right like it kind of
comes with the territory for an athlete.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
So yeah, okay, I've got one. Andre Ware. Didn't he
go to Eustone?
Speaker 5 (05:47):
Jim Parsons from the Big Bang Theory, which has a
way bigger following than I ever realized.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
So I have no idea who that is. But that
doesn't mean anything. Wayne huh.
Speaker 5 (06:04):
A little Lil Wayne went to he he actually attended,
uh briefly. Then he received an honorary degree rather than graduating.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Dennis Quaid.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
Dennis Quaid, Ah, it's a good name.
Speaker 10 (06:16):
Fred Couples, that athlete, you know, Kenny Rogers, Kenny a
really good name.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
Carl Lewis, that's a good name. He went to Houston.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Didn't you do the national anthem?
Speaker 4 (06:29):
Yes? He did?
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Lizzo, Okay, well master p went to Houston. Wow, okay
him say what the restaurant that came from way down under?
Speaker 6 (06:50):
I mean but no, no, not you know it was
important and it's no knock on Jim Nance.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
I love the leader of the.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
All time.
Speaker 6 (07:00):
I'm great, but I just feel like, you know, a
cutaway to Lizo might have had more effect on on
the whole thing.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
You know.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
It's like she's a part of a nice movement building
up and going on right now. It's like the NF.
Speaker 6 (07:15):
The NFL throws in Taylor Swift, CBS counters with Jim Nance.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
Okay, well, let's let's keep growing this thing.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
I don't know why you're so against them showing up.
Nance bothers you so much. He's a part of their network.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Okay. I don't think there's a lot of people a
part of their network. Pete Prisco does stuff on CBS
sports dot.
Speaker 5 (07:35):
Com could give two rips about Houston and Florida playing basketball,
all right, Like he barely cares about Arizona.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
Stayed until the relevant all right. What I'm what I'm
saying is he is.
Speaker 5 (07:46):
A prominent figure who had called these games forever and
went to Houston.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
Like, I don't understand why you get so mad about
the cut of it.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Just felt like it was a bit much and it
was forced.
Speaker 4 (07:59):
Masters we coming up.
Speaker 5 (08:00):
He's gonna be a part of that he's already he's
already said he's gonna retire in eleven years.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
That's it. Yeah, what's wrong with that?
Speaker 6 (08:06):
You know, like let everybody know eleven years in advance
when you're walking away.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
I mean.
Speaker 5 (08:13):
What what? Why didn't even say that? Is that because
he's worried about foul play like.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
Something someone's gonna kill him between now and then?
Speaker 5 (08:20):
I don't know, Like when people are whistleblowers go, I'm
not suicidal. I'm not like they have to like they
have to state that just in case they get whacked,
so they know it's like it's not actually like them
doing it.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
That's like when you don't you know, like you know,
or you do say you like black people. You know,
you're like, oh, I got that one friend, you know,
I listened to the Temptations, you know, and then that
dictates you know that you're like basically saying I don't
like black people, but I do, you know what I
mean because I listened to the Temptations or I was
listening to I was lifted the platters. There you go, see,
(08:55):
there you go. That's that's what helps out the case
that you know, because it's kind of like, you know,
you try to say something that that you know you
clearly are, but you're trying to convince people that you're not.
Speaker 5 (09:07):
You know, what does that have to do with jim
nance announceing he's retiring on in years before it takes place.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (09:13):
I just thought, I throw out, what's your problem, Brady?
You don't think Jim Nantz listens to the platters.
Speaker 5 (09:19):
I'm just saying, have you ever heard of has a
black friend being like, guys, I'm going to retire.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
But ten years.
Speaker 5 (09:27):
Has anyone ever said, like made an official announcement of
when their last like big time event would be, but
it's also ten eleven years from.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
Now whatever you said.
Speaker 6 (09:37):
I I do wonder like there's probably you know, guys
at CBS that are thinking, oh man, you know, as
soon as he's gone, I'm gonna get my shot.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
And then he drops that something they're like, They're like, okay, yeah,
the television, That's what I'm curious about.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
What's going on? Like what they got going on on
the television now? Is that what it is?
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Like smash it up, like crunch it up and then
like sniff it up.
Speaker 4 (10:02):
Huh.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
Carry von Eric got partied and your ties yeah.
Speaker 6 (10:07):
Okay, speaking of Houston, I believe they were from They're
from Texas, are they?
Speaker 2 (10:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (10:12):
The von Erics, the wrestlers. Yes, have we heard from
Florida up by the way?
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (10:18):
Yeah. Todd Golden, the man in the hour who by
the way, they Florida one point spread. Really, it wasn't
Donovan that was coachingankly, No, Billy Donovan no longer with
the Florida Gators. Al Horford was also not starting last night,
but it was no joke.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
No, no, not him either.
Speaker 6 (10:38):
Todd Golden was there discussing the big win for his
Florida Gators post game.
Speaker 11 (10:44):
We've gotten a lot of credit for our offense because
we've been so explosive all year and been one of,
if not the top two offenses in America all year.
But we've been a top ten defense all year also,
and we've been able to stand up against really good
offensive teams and find a way to get stops. I
thought got the better of us in the first half,
but it was really just a disparity in.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
The turnover count. You know, we had nine I think
they had two.
Speaker 11 (11:06):
In the first half, and as I look here, we
had four in the second and they.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
Had seven, and our defense won us a game tonight.
Speaker 11 (11:12):
We got nine straight stops at one point in the
middle of the second half.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
To your point, we held.
Speaker 11 (11:16):
Them scoreless the last two twenty and Walter great close
out and Condo great hustle player to win the game.
And that's what made this team special all years, that
we could win different ways, and we showed that against tonight.
Speaker 6 (11:27):
So there was, by the way, talk about a roller
coaster of a year for Todd Golden, like started off,
I was just.
Speaker 5 (11:33):
Gonna say, I mean, you got off to an interesting
start in September and then uh boy, I mean they look,
the university stood by them. They found that there was
no evidence that Golden violated in a Title nine within
the university and program, although I believe one attorney for
(11:53):
the accuser had said, like there's questionable activity that was
outside of Title nine scope, which is may how they've
kind of made the case. But he's a good coach
man any reason, they stood stood by him steadfast.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
I was telling Lee about this.
Speaker 6 (12:09):
I thought it was funny because back in septemb remember,
there was like this ground swell of man billion. Napier's
got to go, He's got to go they got to
get rid of billion Apier, and it's like, well, you know,
the schedule's kind of rough.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
There's a lot going on there.
Speaker 6 (12:23):
And then all of a sudden, randomly, like the ad
came out and like had his back, and it was like, okay,
it's kind of weird. Like on a Thursday or Friday,
just came out and spoke highly of Billy Napier. And
then a day later, this report on Todd Golden comes out.
It's like, oh, okay, well, you gotta at least let
everybody know that, you know, your confidence is in one
coach while the other one's undergoing an investigation.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
And I swear to god.
Speaker 6 (12:45):
I just assumed Todd Golden was going to be out,
just based on the reporting, the coverage of it, which
just goes to show you you got to wait until
all the facts come out, because the expectation was they're
trying to find whether or not they get rid of
them with cause so on and so forth, and next
thing you know, a few months later, the guys cutting
(13:06):
down the nets and winning a national title in San Antonio.
Pretty wild, crazy, good for good for Todd Golden and
the Florida Gators who had.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
A strong defense on the court and off the court.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
Wow, sure he did well.
Speaker 6 (13:25):
Hey Lee, how do we wrap up with the racket
challenge dot Com?
Speaker 2 (13:32):
Who the hat draw our favorite thing? Uh?
Speaker 10 (13:35):
That would be me, you guys, because I was heavy
on Florida. Yep, I had Florida over Brady's Houston. And
on top of that, I actually, uh came pretty good
on my bracket on points there on.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Oh come on, hold on, now you what pretty good?
Speaker 4 (13:57):
Nobody cares?
Speaker 10 (14:00):
Are going absolutely Brackett Brady don't care about my one
forty Okay, I get it. Well, Brady, you did do
pretty well yourself. You finished eighth right there with Steve
de Seger and the VIPs. Of course, we got to
give it up to Chris Plank with the win. Is
back to back years for Plank?
Speaker 2 (14:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (14:16):
Back to back?
Speaker 6 (14:16):
Yeah, yeah, Plank went back to back. Good for him.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
Yeah, he shared it last year, but he won it
out right. Yeah.
Speaker 10 (14:23):
Plax came in second, Plaxico Burst came in second forty eight.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
Good job, but yeah, good job Brady, Brady.
Speaker 4 (14:31):
He screwed me, Let's be real, Duke screwed me, all right?
That that that screwed me down the stretch.
Speaker 5 (14:38):
There so, and also there was footage sir, if you
guys saw this of Cooper Flag eight days later out
of the driving range diet his golf.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
So we got.
Speaker 5 (14:51):
Someone showed me like he seems like I'm moving on. Yeah,
I'm going to be a top lottery pick. Someone didn't
make the case. How in the in today's age of
nil it's so different in basketball for this reason, everyone's like, oh,
they could run it back. They could pay all these
guys there Duke to come back. And then you actually
(15:11):
think about how many MAX contracts Cooper Flag, who's what eighteen.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
Will be nineteen, that's I mean it's draft or whatever
plays his rookie year.
Speaker 5 (15:20):
He could get three MAX contracts by the time he's
thirty yeah, and maybe get a fourth, Like it doesn't
make any financial sense for him to actually go back
to school because of what would be waiting for him
in the NBA.
Speaker 6 (15:36):
He could legitimately be close to a billion dollars in
contracts if he plays a full NBA career at the
level people expect.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
Him to by the time he gets the thirty five.
Speaker 5 (15:47):
That is a realistic scenario based on how good he
is the trajectory, and then the fact that he could
sign probably four MAX contracts in that time.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
See nowadays earned that type of one.
Speaker 6 (16:00):
You got to open up your own bad tequila and
then start slinging that if you're a celebrity or an athlete.
At everybody, everybody, everyone, everyone got a whiskey too tequila,
Like everyone wants to do the Georgia.
Speaker 4 (16:18):
Though.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
I've heard the Rocks tequila's good.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
I thought we tasted it before, didn't we. Didn't we
do that at the super Bowl or something?
Speaker 2 (16:27):
Did we? I feel like maybe maybe Arizona one of
those one of those places.
Speaker 6 (16:37):
Yeah, oh not not sure, but yeah, congrats Chris Plank,
Todd Golden and Florida.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
Yeah, congratulations guys.
Speaker 6 (16:47):
And uh, that'll wrap up college basketball until everybody pretends
to all of a sudden know what they're talking about
next year.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
By the way, I.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
Wish we had some big sporting event coming up this week.
That's what I wish.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
I can't wait. What like, maybe there's no music that
what I'm talking about here? Come on?
Speaker 4 (17:05):
Maybe like this.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
Wretchedness playing right?
Speaker 4 (17:11):
I love that. It's ridiculous.
Speaker 6 (17:13):
They play this at the weave room and stay college.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
They played this at the weight room and uh birds
right now? Yeah, they do smells.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
I turn it up on my truck every morning. I
don't hear no birds chirping. I see driving people lane,
drinking water and shaking hands and so beautiful.
Speaker 4 (17:34):
Are your bird stripping? We'll miss you, my bird. Do
you remember what was happening yesterday?
Speaker 2 (17:40):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (17:40):
The two birds trying to attack and like break in
this place?
Speaker 2 (17:45):
What'd you do?
Speaker 4 (17:45):
We'll see if they're back today. That'd be much more
interesting than that music that was just playing. I'll tell
you that, bro.
Speaker 5 (17:51):
It was and I thought I was letting like an
Edgar Allen Poe movie, try coming to attack me. I
kept running over to scare them away. They'd come back.
Then there'd be like two of them than three of them.
Jonas actually claimed there were crows, which I said, no,
they're they're not crows.
Speaker 4 (18:07):
I can never get well he was.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
It was, to be honest, another place racist.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
He said there were they were black.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
His words, there you go, the crows in our neighborhood
are terrible, saying there he goes, he goes, But seagulls
are thieves. To let me tell you something I've seen
the pigeons. Did I tell this pigeons are less like
kind of like intrusive. They're they're more respectful of your space.
(18:40):
They're they're more said she didn't want no pigeons.
Speaker 4 (18:43):
That's what I don't want, no pigeons.
Speaker 12 (18:45):
I said. They were very talented birds.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
I mean, you can teach them, you can train them.
Speaker 12 (18:50):
They're trainable like dogs.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
I ever tell my crow and see seagull story on
this show? Have I ever told that before?
Speaker 2 (18:58):
I was driving back from the shore when I lived
on the East Coast and I made a stop. I
was super hungry man stopped to get some food in
this like little what is it like the malls that
are outside what are those called? I forget not them
all inside, but them all outside like an outlet mall whatever. Anyway,
(19:19):
so there's no one really there. It's like the next
morning and there's all kinds of like trash on on
the ground in this parking lot, and I see like
five six seagulls like just having their way with like
all this, like these French fries and burger meat on
(19:39):
the ground. Then I see like three or four crows
pull up right, and I'm like, oh, this like might
get interesting. So I like actually parked my car, and
it's like all right, they started running out of food
before it really jumped off, right, So I was like, man,
we can't have that. So I started throwing all my
fries out out into the parking lot just to see,
(20:02):
you know, what would happen, and bro like out of nowhere,
like fifty more seagulls like just come in like hot,
like whomb like ran up on the crows.
Speaker 8 (20:16):
Right.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
The crows is like getting overwhelmed, like ah, whoa, whoa,
there's too many seagulls. We might have to roll up
out of here. And then like seventy eighty crows come
pulling up. And it was like I'm telling it was
like arma getting between seagulls and crows.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
I mean, I mean they was.
Speaker 8 (20:35):
Them.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Crows were throwing up cloth signs like like talents, like
they was throwing them up twists, twisting the talents.
Speaker 8 (20:42):
You know.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
The seagulls ain't got no damn got no fingers, like
they webbing. So they was just sitting there like like
god like you know, like they was getting it in though,
like it was more fighting than it was eating food.
And it was the wildest thing watching crows. And I
gotta tell you crows are some bad. Their efforts brou
because by the time they got all the way fully
(21:03):
into it, them seagulls was out. They was getting up
out of there, like I'm not doing We're not messing
with these people.
Speaker 6 (21:09):
Man, they're not built for gem pop telling you, man,
it's a real deal out there. Them seagulls got the
hell up out of there. Well, the seagulls also have
the worst diet of anybody on the planet.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
They don't have the cardio to get in a war
with anybody them Them CROs was wearing them seagulls out.
Speaker 5 (21:31):
Yeah, I could see that. We just want no pigeons,
that's all I know. Say, they would have probably been
eating the pigeons.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
If pigeons tried to jump up in there and make
it like a three way like little gang bang like
them pigeons would have been hurt.
Speaker 4 (21:47):
They would have been eating them pigeons swallowing them up.
Speaker 6 (21:50):
Was no pigeons, was that like the the risk like
the counter distract tops.
Speaker 5 (21:58):
That's that's why I keep bringing it up because I
thought it was so great. A group of guys were like,
you know what, screwed this? We need to we need
to come up with a disc.
Speaker 4 (22:06):
Track from the ladies.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
Yeah, no pigeon, no pigeons, Yeah Bird.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Arrington and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app Man.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
Yesterday, this song was the best it's ever sounded. Yeah,
because I didn't play it.
Speaker 6 (22:31):
Literally it started playing in Loreano four seconds and potted
it down.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
Brady told me to whoa.
Speaker 4 (22:39):
We know, Brady's here?
Speaker 2 (22:43):
Why are you driving?
Speaker 4 (22:43):
I wasn't here. So we wanted to play music that
we like. There's no reason to play it.
Speaker 6 (22:48):
Why does Ray Ray have to out anybody on the show, Like,
why are you trying to throw me under the.
Speaker 12 (22:52):
Bus like that?
Speaker 2 (22:53):
Damn, It's all right.
Speaker 4 (22:55):
Pigeon pigeon. I don't think pigeons make that noise? What
was that you did for God?
Speaker 2 (23:07):
Yes, I think that's a different breed of bird Lorenda.
Speaker 4 (23:10):
I'm gonna find an edited version and if I do,
you have to play it.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
I would love it if you did.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
Please, yes, okay, because I feel like you're not playing
it because I don't know. You don't like the song
you feel.
Speaker 12 (23:21):
I've never heard it, but it does seem a little inappropriate.
I could give you some snippets of lions throughout it.
I know I'm the one who gave you the saw
about birds, but it's definitely it.
Speaker 6 (23:33):
Is about birds. I think it's disrespectful to women personally.
Speaker 7 (23:37):
That's what I was.
Speaker 12 (23:37):
Getting from it, which is probably why it's not in
the system.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
I don't know, maybe, and it's about birds. I don't
know what you're talking about wings. There's different species of birds.
It's disgusting. This one is more like an ostrich. You know,
they don't fly, They just they run fast. You know,
they they're aggressive at times. You know, that's all there?
(24:02):
You go.
Speaker 6 (24:02):
An ostrich is a dinosaur that's not a bird. That
is a violent they'll clip you too.
Speaker 8 (24:09):
Bro.
Speaker 6 (24:09):
Hey, By the way, did you see that some guy
recreated dire wolves really like like took the genes from
a dire wolves school and recreated them. They've got two
males that are, like, I think, under a year old,
and they've got a female that was born not long.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
How big are they? Eighty pounds already.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
And they're five months eighty pounds. Eighty pounds, Well, aren't
dire wolves like.
Speaker 4 (24:40):
It's like Romeus and Romulus, I think of the names
or something like that.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Aren't they like like big big though, like super super
super like like those like big like those massholes.
Speaker 4 (24:51):
Yeah, they're eighty pounds at five months and they're gonna
g pretty big.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
That's big.
Speaker 6 (24:58):
And they continue to growing pretty big until it is
eighteen months. I think it is is when they they peak.
But yeah, they found a gene off a skull, a
piece of a skull that they had, and they got
enough of it that they were able to recreate it.
So they've got two males and they've got this female
that was born not long ago CALSI, and they look awesome.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
You gotta find me a picture. You know they're they
they're doing that with wild horses. What are you doing, bro?
That might I want to say it out loud, just
just know that. And if Lee hadn't, you know, if
Lee hadn't put my mic cover out to the street,
you know, I'd have my mic cover. This is one
(25:42):
of them mic cover days. So I don't know the
reasoning why this is like not not a good situation,
but it's just not right now. That's all fun.
Speaker 12 (25:52):
Fact. Dire wolves can get from one hundred and thirty
up to one hundred and fifty pounds and five to
six feet tall standing six feet Yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
I was thinking more so of the size, Like when
I think of the dire wolf, I think immediately of
the stark wolfs obviously in the show. But some of
them are like really really like like giant, big huge,
like you could ride them type big.
Speaker 5 (26:18):
Right, right, I mean I mean six feet to their
shoulder though, yeah, six feet to the shoulders tall.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
That's super tall. Yeah, yeah, that's that's a big dog.
Speaker 4 (26:28):
I mean, would you would you get one?
Speaker 6 (26:30):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (26:30):
Hell yeah, hell yeah. That's my type of that's the
type of stuff I do.
Speaker 12 (26:34):
I may have partially I meant to say three feet tall,
five to six feet long, okay.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
Okay, I thought they said their shoulders though, they are
really tall.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Well, if they stand up, if they're that long in length,
then if they go on their hind legs, they are
six feet so it's it's kind of now.
Speaker 5 (26:52):
There was one misconception that they said that like threw
everyone off from like Game of Thrones is most thought
they were black, and then they thought they were red,
but come to find out they're actually white.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
Up top rady interesting and we got tire wolves. I
don't really understand what that means. Jonas take it over.
That's gotta be racist.
Speaker 4 (27:18):
Oh yeah, I'm just leaving that there. I was looking
at that.
Speaker 6 (27:28):
Jonas doing it all live here from the tire rack
dot Com studios. Tire rack dot com will help you
get there an unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road
has a protection at over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire
rack dot com the way tire buying should be all right.
So Gino Smith is now a Las Vegas Raider and
(27:49):
he is fired up about it because a reunion is
happening this upcoming year. He's back with this guy, Pete Carroll.
He was introduced yesterday in Vegas.
Speaker 2 (27:59):
Let's take a look.
Speaker 7 (28:00):
Yeah, he's very relatable. He loves all of his players
just like they're his kids, and he treats us all
the same.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
He treats us like men.
Speaker 7 (28:07):
He allows us to make decisions and allow allows us
to be ourselves. But when it comes to inspiring people,
you know, guys to go out there and play hard.
I mean, this guy's got in spacee I think there
is unfinished business, and I think, you know, when when
people think about my story, you know, Coach Carroll was
a big part of that.
Speaker 8 (28:23):
You know.
Speaker 7 (28:23):
He gave me an opportunity when not many people would have.
And he saw, you know, the hard work that I
was putting in. He saw the things behind the scenes
that I that I do that allowed me to get
this opportunity. But to be able to play for him
and again to be a part of this organization, it
means everything to myself and my family.
Speaker 8 (28:39):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (28:40):
I was just telling him, man, I'll run through a
wall for him, and he knows that, and I'll do
the same for my teammates and for this organization. And
so I just want that to be, you know, kind
of who I am, and I want that to be
the statement of of who I am as the quarterback
of this team.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
I'm more and.
Speaker 6 (28:56):
More a fan of the Geno Smith trade. The more
that you hear him talk about just how much him
and Pete Carroll a line and just basically giving him
the credit for reviving his career so much so that
it leads me to believe, Yeah, they're definitely not taking
a quarterback even if one's sitting there at six, Like
(29:16):
now I buy the Ashton gent rumors and the odds
and all that stuff, like if they're fully into Gino Smith.
And he did a sit down with Albert Breer and
just talked about how he spoke with Pete Carroll throughout
last year like they would talk often. He's got a
past with Chip Kelly. He went over and talked with
Tom Brady. Tom Brady was a big fan of what
(29:39):
he had done at an advanced age, much like Brady was.
I think they're they're in on Geno Smith, and they're
going to use that topic on somebody other than a quarterback.
And this whole time I thought if Shador was there,
there's no way they pass on him. I don't think
they're taking a quarterback. They're going to Ashton genty book it.
Speaker 5 (29:55):
I think it depends on who's available at that point.
Would you just and we've talked about this with Albert
and even Pete. You know, Pete's never an advocate for this.
Speaker 4 (30:05):
In fact, I want one of you guys to ask
Pete this because.
Speaker 5 (30:08):
It'll be too much of a layup if it's coming
from me. Because I know how Pete feels about running backs.
He is against drafting any running back in the first round.
So he will say that, He'll say they grow entries
and you can find you know, guys in the second, third, fourth,
or sixth, seventh round. But if you look at Pete
Carroll's track record, I mean, he did even draft Russell
(30:30):
Wilson in the first round or second round for that matter.
He was a third round draft pick. So they don't
or he hasn't at least put a premium on taking
a quarterback unless he's really seen a guy who there's
a lot of value in and I think they're gonna
take best player available. It's oftentimes been defense. At times
(30:50):
it's been offensive line, but that's usually been his MO.
And so I'm with you on where Las Vegas would
go if they feel like Ashton Genty is the most
dynamic player.
Speaker 4 (31:00):
I've got him rated high house on the board.
Speaker 5 (31:02):
Could make a lot of sense for them for them
in Las Vegas. I also would want to point out
it's interesting getting to like the mental side of things
with Pete Carroll and Gino Smith in that relationship because
both of them kind of came off bad breakups, Like
things didn't work out for Gino in New York with
(31:24):
the Jets after drafting him, and large part due to
the dysfunction that that organization was.
Speaker 4 (31:30):
I mean I was there with Gino. He could spin it.
Speaker 6 (31:32):
Now.
Speaker 5 (31:32):
Were there some things that he needed to grow up
and mature? You know in the league when I was
there with him his rookie year. Of course, that's every
rookie quarterback. Though every rookie quarterback goes through that, and
he has and I think he had the opportunity to sit,
watch learn and he really sees that next opportunity and
for Pete. Look, Gino was that quarterback after Russell Wilson
who kind of provided him, you know, some element of stability,
(31:56):
some element of good quarterback play and all be honest.
Whenever I watched their tape, I always feel like Geno
Smith is overcoming a lot more than people want to
give him credit. And even last year, you know, had
another new offensive coordinator, completely different system, how he handled
the line of scrimmage, how he handled everything.
Speaker 4 (32:14):
Just that it's put on the quarterback's plate. Being the
field general out.
Speaker 5 (32:18):
There, I think it flies under the radar because people
don't understand how hard that is in one year's time
to switch to a new system and do all the
things that he was asked to do. But he's from
Peter Carroll's perspective. He understands exactly what he's getting his quarterback.
So I kind of loved it for both of them
because I think they both found each other at the
right time, if you will.
Speaker 2 (32:39):
I think it was a strategic play because of maybe
their lack of belief in this year's draft class at QBS.
I think it's more so about that and less about
Geno Smith. I think he's a safe to be able
to get a guy he felt comfortable with, did all
those things in terms of reviving his career and having
(33:02):
success with him in his last years in Seattle. I
think Pete Carroll looks at it and says, this is
my best opportunity to get out of the gate as
quickly as possible. And he was able to get a
hold of him the way that he was able to
get a hold of him, and that wasn't Matthew Stafford.
(33:24):
It wasn't you know, Tom Brady. Meeting with Stafford and
getting him there. I'm sure they felt like that was
probably the number one option that they wanted and going
forward with the team, they didn't. I didn't hear too much.
It didn't sound like there was too much aggressive approach
to bringing Aaron Rodgers there. So I don't know what
(33:47):
that represents in the conversation. I just think that the
comfort level of Pete Carroll coming into the scenario that
he's coming into because it's a volatile situation in Las Vegas.
It's not a simple situation. It's not an easy fix.
It's not a simple fix, and it has been that
(34:09):
way for quite some time now. So he's got to
give himself, in his estimation taking the job, He's got
to give himself the best opportunity to be able to
have success right out of the gate. And I think
this is more of an indictment on what he feels
about the quarterbacks class versus it being more so about
(34:31):
anything else.
Speaker 6 (34:32):
It feels though, like this version of the Raiders, whatever pairing,
front office, coach, et cetera.
Speaker 2 (34:39):
It feels like this is the.
Speaker 6 (34:41):
Most in lock step they've been in a long time.
Like the Josh McDaniels stuff was just kind of weird,
Like Antonio Pierce never really got a fair shot. Mark
Davis kind of was in and then he wasn't the
John Gruden stuff. They tried that it ended because of
the you know, the scandal and everything that came along
with it. This at least feels like, all right, we've
(35:02):
got well, you know, the email.
Speaker 4 (35:08):
Scandal.
Speaker 2 (35:08):
It feels like they've got Yeah, it's a great word to.
Speaker 4 (35:11):
Say, just I know, but it's just it's a little unfair.
Speaker 6 (35:15):
I mean.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
Job, I mean, and it's correct. I don't I think
you say it's a scandal.
Speaker 2 (35:21):
He's what you call it?
Speaker 4 (35:24):
Email?
Speaker 2 (35:24):
What controversial, bacal controversy, controversy. I mean, he lost his
job over it. And it was connected to kind of
in a lot of ways scandal with with Dan Snyder.
But you were exposing one scandal and it led to
(35:46):
an exposure of maybe maybe bad conduct. Maybe it's like
more of a bad an exposing of bad poor, poor
judgment on communication. I love a good scandal, nothing better.
But is that considered?
Speaker 4 (36:03):
What are what is that show? It with Kerrie Washington?
Speaker 2 (36:07):
That was it was called called scandal.
Speaker 4 (36:11):
Yeah, dude, she's hot. Who's Washington? Is that to the
awesome nominee?
Speaker 2 (36:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (36:23):
Okay, oh sorry, awful tangent?
Speaker 5 (36:29):
All right, it was and then it got a little
a little repetitive, you know, kind of a lot of
monologues and.
Speaker 4 (36:37):
Stuff in there.
Speaker 8 (36:37):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (36:40):
It is kind of interesting though, that Russell Wilson was available,
and Pete Carroll's like, I'd rather give something up for
Gino than bringing Russell Wilson without having to trade for him.
Speaker 2 (36:52):
You know, Well we're good here. Yeah, that's an interesting
that observation. That ship sailed, Well, we'll go with this
guy and at least now, well you could you could
add that to Justin Fields as well. I mean, there
were options and opportunities for them, and that's who they
(37:13):
settled in on.
Speaker 4 (37:14):
I think it was.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
I think it was Matthew Stafford that they wanted. And
if it wasn't Matthew Stafford, who is the next best
one that you feel the most comfortable with and trying
to compete for an AFC West divisional crown? Who who
who works? Who fits the mold for you? Pete?
Speaker 4 (37:40):
And that's who he.
Speaker 6 (37:40):
Said, Like who do you who would you guys trust,
like based on not just this past year, but based
on recent history, past couple of years, like who would
you trust as your quarterback? More Sam Darnold or Gino Smith?
Speaker 5 (37:58):
Because mean Geno's started for a longer period of time,
agreed and played more consistently.
Speaker 6 (38:04):
So that's why the Seattle side of it still kind
of puzzling, like there was no way to like and
I could understand, you know, a like work on a
short term deal. Apparently they did make an offer to him,
but he kind of felt like, yeah, it was there
was something more there that just didn't that didn't land right,
But it wasn't an offer that they looked at like, Okay,
(38:25):
this is really going to give me a chance here
to be the guy moving forward.
Speaker 2 (38:29):
I just don't know.
Speaker 6 (38:31):
Is Sam Donald really an upgrade at the position over
Gino Smith.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
I don't think he is.
Speaker 4 (38:36):
I don't think that.
Speaker 2 (38:37):
I don't think you could clearly answer it with just
one season of success with Sam Darnold. I just think
he's an anomaly and and and in some ways and
in some regards, I just don't think his what he
did this year, was it based off of all all
(39:00):
of this, you know, the variables given right from coach
to the amount of talent around him. We're going to
find out, We're going to find out how good Sam
Darnold is this season, this upcoming year. We're going to
find out if what he did in Minnesota was because
(39:25):
he was executing as a very very strong, talented system quarterback,
or his talent in his maturity and his understanding of
the game at this point in his career is allowing
for him to have a measured level of success. But
in terms of what's a safer pick, it clearly comes
(39:51):
down to Pete Carroll feeling as though, looking at what
Geno Smith brings to the table, that is the safest
move for him them to make in order to try
to have success right out at the gate.
Speaker 4 (40:03):
And I, like you said, I.
Speaker 2 (40:05):
Think that was done knowing that they're not going to
get that type of addressing of the quarterback. It'sue in
the draft, Let's get a quarterback and let's build out
with a player that can impact our team at a
different position.
Speaker 5 (40:24):
I believe Geno did get ten million more guaranteed. That's signing,
so there is something to that. That's real money, real dollars,
and it kind of makes sense. It was a little
more shorter term too, potentially though from his side, you
know a lot of people think, like you want a
short term deal as a quarterback, or the team wants
(40:46):
the short term deal as a quarterback, but really from
the player a side, you want it because you could
re up on a much bigger long term if you're
proving to be the guy there. So if you were
Geno Smith and you're getting offered ten million more to
go play for the Lost Vegas Raiders, it's kind of
a no brainer, especially for a coach you've played for,
because I think we'd agree now, maybe not anymore, but
(41:09):
you know, looking at like.
Speaker 4 (41:10):
The weapons you've got, I mean, Jash.
Speaker 5 (41:12):
And Smith, Smith and Jigba is still there, but they've
moved on from Lockett, they moved on from Metcalf and
if you look at Las Vegas you've got some young pieces.
Obviously brock Powers is there. He was phenomenal as a rookie.
So it's kind of a wash maybe in that regard.
I'm not sure the protection is much better one way
or the other from the old line. So why not
go someplace where a coach believes in you and it's
(41:33):
going to pay you ten million more guaranteed, So if
anything does go wrong, at least you've got that in
your back pocket.
Speaker 6 (41:39):
Yeah, good for Gino out there slinging it in Vegas.
These dire Wolves are sweet, man, These are just so cool.
Speaker 1 (41:48):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern three am Pacific.
Speaker 2 (41:58):
But is a Tuesday tradition. It's a smooth tradition. He
is the smooth operator.
Speaker 6 (42:04):
He is Pete Prisco, senior NFL columnist for CBS Sports,
CBS Sports HQ analysts and our good buddy. You can
get on x at Prisco CBS. Pete, good morning, How
are we feeling?
Speaker 8 (42:15):
What's up? Guys?
Speaker 4 (42:16):
How are you good morning? Yeah? Hey, Pete?
Speaker 8 (42:19):
What's going on? Brady? Not much, man, I'm waiting for
somebody to crack on me first.
Speaker 6 (42:28):
Why why?
Speaker 4 (42:31):
What do you mean?
Speaker 8 (42:32):
Because usually it's Brady making us taking a shot, and
then LaVar will chime in and Jonas will get me.
Speaker 5 (42:37):
Going, and then I rely think about let me let
me kick us off here because Pete watches a lot
of sports. So Pete, what do you think about last
night's National Championship In the finish of the game, you
know what.
Speaker 8 (42:51):
The what the Houston Cougar should do is put their
finger in their mouth and gag because that's what they did.
And they may show, I mean they show. Come on,
you got a twelve point lead, you're a defensive team.
You didn't get a shot off in the last minute
and a half of the game. I mean, it was
a joke. And here's the other part of the game.
I hate where college basketball is going. I'll be honest
(43:11):
with you. I think with all the transfers and the
mid majors are no longer going to be a factor
in the tournament. And you know, I just I don't know.
I just think the tournament has lost something when you
don't have the possibility of a mid major winning. And
now all you have to do is look around the
portal which opened during the tournament, which is amazing, and
see how guys of a mid majors are already leaving
(43:33):
going to bigger schools. More power to them by the
way they're getting paid. But there's got to be something
done to try and then, you know, stem it a
little bit.
Speaker 6 (43:43):
Pete, what was your big takeaway from the owners meetings
down in Florida, Because we know you had to ditch
out early last week because you had some breakfast with
some blowhards down there.
Speaker 2 (43:55):
Did you get any.
Speaker 6 (43:55):
Interesting information or any tidbits you can pass along?
Speaker 8 (43:59):
Well, I will say I will say that when you
look at this draft, everybody that you talk to says
you got two or three really star players and then
there's a group of from six to seventy that's all
the same. And so you're going to see people who
love to be able to move out of their spot.
(44:20):
The problem is who wants to move up. And so
I think the draft is coming up in a couple
of weeks is not nearly what people expect it to be,
and you're going to see a lot of teams trying
to move out of their spots.
Speaker 4 (44:33):
Pete.
Speaker 2 (44:34):
With that being said, I'm seeing and I'm feeling like,
all right one and you tell me if you know
how you feel about it. But the canceling of the
private workout with Tennessee with schdor Sanders, that was interesting.
Was that positive or negative? And then it just makes
me start to think, if he's going to slide in
(44:55):
the draft, he could slide all the way down him
and Dark could be available to the Steelers. And it
makes me wonder, it makes me curious, is that maybe
why Aaron Rodgers hasn't signed yet. Is you think maybe
that that the symptom symptoms of what's taking place with
this draft may be playing a part in Aaron Rodgers
seeing who who who Pittsburgh may take in the draft
(45:18):
before he makes a decision.
Speaker 8 (45:20):
Yeah, but if you're the Steelers and you even I
think Rogers are still going to the Steelers. I just
think if you're Rogers and you're the Steelers, it's still
a short term marriage. You have to find somebody in
this draft to try and take you for the next decade.
And so would it be so bad to bring in
Aaron Rodgers and have Dark or Sanders or whoever sit
(45:40):
behind him for a year or two. I don't think
that would be such a bad thing. And Brady knows this.
He knows I'm a big believer in playing young quarterbacks
right away to find out what they are. But if
you're the Steelers, why can't you do both? I just
don't understand that. And so, yeah, I do think the
canceling of the meeting is a good thing for Juser
standers because it tells you that I take they're taking
(46:01):
cam Ward. And it's also you know, when you look
at it, where does he slide? I think number nine
is a possibility. I think the Saints at number nine
are still a possibility for a quarterback, whether it's Start
or Sanders or one of those two, because they need
to address that position. Derek Carr big contract, mega contract,
they keep moving money out and he hasn't played up
(46:22):
to that contract. So at some point you have to
find yourself a young quarterback.
Speaker 5 (46:26):
Pete, last time we spoke to you, you were at
the Breakers there in Palm Beach, and I think you
were there for at least another day, maybe two. How'd
that finish up? I mean, did you get a shrimp cocktail?
Did you get anything there? Did you get actually stay
there on property? Or do you have to commute back
and forth?
Speaker 8 (46:43):
I have to commute back and forth. And by the way,
like I said, the NFL has limited the access to
that break or so hotel even for their own people,
because you're not allowed to They only have like six
rooms per team now, so you get six guys get
in and the rest of the group has to go
stay at the Hilton or one of those hotels across
the way. Here's the other thing. You couldn't shoot your
(47:05):
camera shots looking at the hotel. They didn't want that,
and so you had to face a tree or something
like that. And so look, it rained the party on
Monday night, they had rain. It just it wasn't a
great meeting. And I'll be honest with you. You hear
rumblings they might not be going back there because I
don't think the people want them there. Think about that.
Think about the NFL money and what it is and
(47:27):
the money that goes to that. That hotel doesn't want
that money and those people in the building. Think about
that for a second.
Speaker 6 (47:34):
Oh you hang out with the top notch, the elites
down there in Florida apparently.
Speaker 8 (47:40):
Yeah, that's just right up my alley, because that's what
I am. I've always been one of those elites that
likes to, you know, go eat caviar and drink high
end champagne and talk about you know, grey poupond and
my coat, my pipe in my mouth and everything else.
That's exactly who I am.
Speaker 6 (47:55):
At Prisco CBS on axes where you can find them.
What are you hearing from people when they're discussing the
future for Travis Hunter? Is he going to be a receiver?
Is he going to be drafted? As a cornerback. Are
they really going to try and do both? I know
he wants to do both, but doesn't this depend on
which team takes him and what their needs are.
Speaker 8 (48:17):
Well, I think if you're looking at the teams, most
of the teams I talk to now, or at least
a majority of them, are thinking he's going to be
a wide receiver and a great one. And again, I've
had comparisons to Justin Jefferson as a wide receiver. So
I think if you look at the teams that are
possibly going to take him, you know three, you know
(48:38):
the Giants, I think they're playing at wide receiver with neighbors.
He can also spot in and play corner, but you're
not gonna be able to play both ways. I don't
care what he says. I think you look at the Patriots,
they're going to play them at wide receiver. They have
two corners. You look at the Jaguars, if you were
supplied there, they would playm at wide receiver. And so
I think more and more you start hearing he's going
to be a wide receiver. I think the value of
(48:59):
the position used to be corner, but now you look
at it and it's wide receiver. It's right there with corner,
so I would initially I thought I would play him
a corner. The more watch his tape, I do think
he's going to be a great wide receiver. So I
think he's gonna end up being playing more wide receiver
than corner, and he'll spot in do some cornerback work,
but he's not going to play much more on that defensive.
Speaker 2 (49:18):
Side of the ball. Pete, I know you'll agree with
me on this one, and I'm curious on your taking opinion.
I really believe Ashton Genty is the one that is
primed to be the most successful integrating into the National
Football League out of any of these top prospects coming out.
(49:42):
I just wonder should we be talking more about Ashton
Genty possibly going you know, maybe he should go to
you know, the Tennessee Titans. You know, they made a
living of it with Henry before, you know, with King Henry.
Maybe he could go to Cleveland even though they had Chubb.
But you know, he's getting older and most certainly at three,
(50:04):
you would say it make maybe a dilemma pick for
them to possibly take. I'm trying to take Ashton Genty.
What say you on this because I know you're high
on the value of what running backs bring to the table,
especially guys like Ashton Genty being in this draft.
Speaker 8 (50:24):
Are you trying to get me going?
Speaker 2 (50:27):
What do you mean?
Speaker 8 (50:27):
What do you mean? Did you draft a running back
number one overall? Come on? I mean, and you mentioned
Derrick Henry because they have all those trophies that they're
going to put around the facility after they won Super
Bowls with the running back. I come on, the bar
of the value is it? Look, he is one of
the three star players in this draft, So I get it.
I understand it. You know you're talking about Carter Hunter
(50:50):
and Genty. There are the three best players in the draft,
no doubt about it. But there are so many things
working against him when you say one or two or whatever,
and here's what they are. One, this draft is loaded
with running backs. You're gonna get guys in the third
and fourth round who are gonna be big time players.
You don't need to take him there. Two, you're talking
(51:13):
about a running back. The value of the position is
so you know, not as great as it used to
be because the way the game is played, and you're
gonna beat him up and run him into the ground,
and by the year five, you're gonna be sitting there saying, oh, no,
now we have to give him a contract extension. And
so you're wondering, Wow, he's going to be twenty seven
or twenty eight years old. Do we want to give
him a contract extension? And everybody goes back this year, Well,
(51:36):
Saquon Barkley, You look with Saquon Barkley, resurrected with Saquon Barkley,
have been Sakuon Barkley if he had stayed in New York.
Answer that question is no. You know, so there are
only so many big people that can play the position.
There are only so many quarterbacks. And if you don't
have those guys, I don't care how good your running
back is, you're not winning a title. So as great
as he is as a player, it's a deep running
(51:58):
back class. There are a ton of real good running
back So no to the value of the position. Kind
of in the Gates effect, you would take them that high.
Speaker 5 (52:06):
Tre Pete I thought one interesting thing that came out
was the NFL was actually the motivating factor.
Speaker 4 (52:14):
Behind the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay.
Speaker 5 (52:17):
Packers, and both of the rules changes they tried to
get past with the competition committee. I didn't think like
the NFL would take such an active approach. And also
I didn't think that they didn't feel like they could
actually say to the NFL owners, Hey, here's what we
see from the league office side, and instead have the
owners do it. I know that's been the tradition, that's
(52:37):
how they've handled it, But is that new? Has that
always been the case? And did you think anything of
that when you kind of heard that news that there's
maybe a divide or a fracture between Roger Goodell, Troy
Vince in the league office and maybe some of the owners.
Speaker 8 (52:52):
No, it's always been that way, Brady. I mean, you
know they've been involved and behind the scenes. Now it
doesn't usually get out, but they've always been involved in
that type of situation and that's why that that competition
committee is there, and that's why you have Troy Vincent around.
They've been involved and Roger was involved, and so yeah,
am I surprised. No? And you know some of the
(53:12):
rules are just comp Why not review bad penalties? It
makes no sense. I think it was the smart thing
to do. If a face mask is called and he
doesn't grab the face mass. Why shouldn't you be able
to do a quick replay assistant overturn it. It makes
no sense not to, So I get it. Some of
those rules that push push, you know, they table it
until May. History says that that's not getting done. And
(53:33):
because here's why, when you go to those meetings usually
in May, those are just owners and so you're not
going to have the pushback from the coaches and the
coaches input and the and the GM's arguing about it.
The owners just go there. They usually want business done
in those meetings, not football, and I don't I'd be
surprised if that thing gets legislated out of the game
for next year, I think you're going to see the
(53:53):
touch push, and by the way, should it. I hate
to play. I think it stinks. I think it's a
rugby play of football play. But when you see Nick
Sirianni and that team and the way they practice it
and the way they rep it and the way they've
made it theirs, and so how can you argue against
the success of it, and how can you argue it out?
So I hate to play, but I can see it's
(54:15):
still being in next year.
Speaker 6 (54:16):
And should be in Pete I wanted to ask you, uh,
just about a tweet that you sent a couple of
days ago. There was a highlight of Fred Taylor that
was passed around. Somebody tagged you in the tweet and
said the Hall of Hall of very good, to which
you responded, hall of moron. Do you want to speak
(54:39):
about your actions and your behavior on social media and
why you continue to attack people who disagree with you?
Speaker 8 (54:45):
Well, I mean, because I just that's not really attacking him.
I mean just I said he was going into a
special hall. So I'm kind of honoring you, mar I.
I mean, there's a special place for the moron in
the sports industry and the moron in the sports fandom.
And so he's earned his way, and he's going to
have a special ceremony. Come I think I think it's August.
(55:06):
They're going to bring him in. It's going to be
the Hall of Morons. They're all going to get inductive
that special, special, special place. And believe me, there is
a lot of you know, how you restrict the guys
that get into the Hall of Fame in the NFL,
there's no restriction on getting the guys into the Hall Moron.
And so he's got a bus coming and he has
earned his way into the hall. Moron.
Speaker 5 (55:27):
Hey Pete, With the Masters coming on this week and
you're a big golf guy, you got any picks for us?
Got any memories or anything you'd like to discuss in
regards to the Masters coming up.
Speaker 8 (55:38):
You know, I've never been, Brady, and I've always wanted
to go, and but it always kind of coincides with
the draft, so it's hard to work it out where
I can go. But I do want to go just
to see, you know, I know guys that you know
there used to be if you cover that. I still
think it is if you cover the Masters, they have
a drawing for all the media that covers it. You
can play the course on Monday if you get picked
(55:59):
that day. And so yeah, oh yeah, Brady, that's true.
Speaker 4 (56:04):
That's a thing.
Speaker 8 (56:05):
Yeah, yeah, I know guys that have played and you
get the Yeah, it's right the next day after on Monday.
If you get picked, that would be so fantastic. I
would I mean, you know, god, I probably shoot one
hundred and fifty, but it would be still fun to
be out there. So I'd love to go. I will
go one day just to go watch it. And see
it and you know, pay dollar fifty for a beer
(56:26):
because I still think there's something, there's some charm to that.
You know, you go to an you go to a
concert or an NFL game or whatever. Nowadays you know
what a beer A beer. I go to a hockey game,
it's like around the drinks is like fifty bucks. It's incredible,
you know. So something to be said about the masters
now they keep the prices down.
Speaker 4 (56:45):
Goo job.
Speaker 2 (56:46):
One hundred and fifty. That's that's a lot. You're swinging
your your polls a lot, right, that's a.
Speaker 8 (56:51):
Lot of times. I didn't say one hundred and fifty.
Speaker 4 (56:54):
Ye you said fifty.
Speaker 8 (56:55):
If if it was one hundred and if it was
one hundred and fifty.
Speaker 4 (56:58):
You're there all day.
Speaker 6 (56:59):
We have the pet he's talking about your your golf score.
You said you were going to shoot one hundred and
fifty at that staff.
Speaker 8 (57:07):
Well, I mean I could I could be like Brady
and run around my driver and just hit my irons
off the die.
Speaker 2 (57:12):
I could do that actually, jeeze.
Speaker 4 (57:14):
Yeah, also on the full story that I hit your drive.
Speaker 8 (57:20):
That's a true story. By the way. One of the
first times when I played with Brady, we went to
this club and play. We played nine holes and Brady's
playing and you know, he's hitting the hell out of
the ball because he's got to. He can hit the
hell out of the ball. And all of a sudden
he's playing with his iron and I'm like, Brady, what
are you doing? Yo? You know why? He was like
(57:41):
a tennis player who runs around his backhand. He didn't
want to play it anymore. He didn't want to play
that drive and so so finally we come down to
the end and he pulls out his driver again because
I talked him into it, and he yanked it. He
yanked at about three hundred and twenty yards, but it
was about forty yards to the left and out of bounds.
True story, Brady.
Speaker 4 (57:59):
Uh, the part it's not true as it wasn't to
the left, it was to the right. But yes, that
part of it is true.
Speaker 2 (58:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (58:05):
So so here's that was such a proud moment of me.
I got into his head so bad I forced him
to pull the driver around.
Speaker 4 (58:14):
I mean, I wish it was that simple, Pete, and
I love you, but it was. There's certain holes you
don't need a driver on. So I didn't hit dry,
but you know.
Speaker 8 (58:23):
The kicker to that story is we were relatively close,
but I hit one into the into the trap, and
you got into my later. And do you remember that
you're going, you guys are come up and you drive
up and you go, You're never getting out of there.
You're never getting out of there.
Speaker 2 (58:36):
And I'll be damned if I never did get that.
Speaker 8 (58:39):
I don't. So yeah, head, games and golf, even when
you're not as good as your opponent, are very good.
And by the way, I am not as good as Brady.
Quinny's a really good golfer. You can hit the hell
out of the ball, but you compete. Head.
Speaker 5 (58:51):
What why don't you guys come up for the charity event?
I feel like I get other folks got kays are
and others coming up for it. Why don't you come
up for it?
Speaker 8 (58:58):
When is it? I think it's an and the smack
dab in the middle of training camp.
Speaker 4 (59:03):
It's not.
Speaker 5 (59:03):
It's before it begins. It might it might actually be
at the beginning for you when you usually take off.
So I'll send you the dates. We'll figure this out.
Speaker 8 (59:11):
I would love to. I would love to if I could.
I would love to because you play teams though in that,
don't you.
Speaker 4 (59:18):
You play a scramble.
Speaker 5 (59:19):
You play a scramble, but it's more about just having
fun and especially having you around the course to keep
things lively, maybe getting a fight or two.
Speaker 8 (59:26):
Well yeah, yeah, I just don't put me with Kaiser
because he gets into my he gets into mind. He's
an irritant.
Speaker 4 (59:33):
He does talk a lot of the course.
Speaker 8 (59:35):
He does, by the way, playing golf. I'm not good
at golf. I've gotten better. I'm not good at golf,
but I love messing with people who in their heads
like I put you know Lejay, that works with us.
They dousable. He played with him, I put with him
the first time. He is as slow as slow can be,
by the way. And here's what he did. He gets
the get first hole, first hole. He gets like a
(59:57):
I can because I count the strokes on everybody. And
he comes in. He puts the score and he goes,
what do you get? He goes, I got an eight,
and I go, wait, Now it is the first time
I'm playing with him. I go, wait a second, I go,
you got a ten? And I go, you went here
here here into the water, over here, over there, over there.
That doesn't add up to eight, you got a ten,
(01:00:18):
and so I call him the subtractor when he's tracks
off the score.
Speaker 5 (01:00:23):
Pet's got a nickname for everyone. He just doesn't have
a nickname for himself. That's the problem.
Speaker 8 (01:00:28):
I mean, can you believe that the very first all
you got you oh I got an eight? No you didn't?
You put him? And then there's those guys with the
handicap as, Oh well, my handicapped system says I can
only put down the two over or I can only
put down up to him. Now you just hit the
ball fourteen times sometimes and you're gonna put down an eight? Brady,
Come on, is that real? Is that the real thing?
(01:00:49):
You put down their eight.
Speaker 5 (01:00:52):
Because of USGA scoring. That's technically how they're supposed to
do it. Actually there is a max, but I get it.
Speaker 8 (01:00:58):
But when you're playing in a in a crappy game
with a bunch of scrappers, you put.
Speaker 4 (01:01:01):
Down what you get, you put Okay, Pete, we're living
in your world.
Speaker 6 (01:01:05):
So whatever you say, a Pete, way to keep honest.
Thanks for all you do out there. He is the
great Pete Prisco. Uh get him on ex at Prisco.
Speaker 2 (01:01:17):
We'll do it. We'll do it again.
Speaker 4 (01:01:18):
Next week
Speaker 2 (01:01:22):
Risco Here on Fox Sports Radio,
