Speaker 1 (00:02):
Is the best of two pros and a couple Joe
with lamar As rating Win and Jonas Knox on radio.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
How the hell we feeling here on a Tuesday morning?

Speaker 3 (00:16):
I mean why not? Why not? And if you were
wondering how are you feeling, getting a response is why not? Well,
all I can say is waking up at this hour?
Why not?

Speaker 2 (00:35):
I mean starting to set in? I don't know, only
takes a.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Uh, one day. I don't know how many times it
would be saying two pros and a cup of Joe.
Oh no, yeah out here for pim.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Hey, the uh, the whole cruise back, you know, leads back.
You know, we're going to find out what Leisha and
Aigan's were like over the past week.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
So he looks rejuvenated. Yeah, good for him.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Looks fired up, looks fired up.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
All right.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
So we were talking yesterday about the potential of what
the news could be that Dion Sanders is going to
have at his press conference. And Dion Sanders held his
press conference yesterday in Boulder, and there was some speculation.
Obviously he's been dealing with health issues and been dealing

(01:31):
with stuff like that, and there's just been rumors and
people wondering, all right, so what exactly are the health issues?
What does his future look like? How is this going
to play out when it comes to Colorado. This is
the first year he's going to be coaching without his sons,
which you know, you wondered if that was going to
be a difficult task for him to go through as

(01:53):
a parent, as a coach. And so yesterday, aside his
doctor they're in Boulder, they discussed his medical issues and
what the future looks like for coach Prime.

Speaker 5 (02:04):
We performed a full robot assist at laparoscopic ladder removal
and creation of a new blatter, and I am pleased
to report that the results from the surgery are that
he is cured from the cancer.

Speaker 6 (02:15):
I always knew I was gonna coach again. I never
didn't realize I was gonna coach again. I was always
going to coach. It was never in my spirit, in
my heart that God wouldn't allow me.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
To coach again. That's never thought like that.

Speaker 6 (02:29):
Only but surely I built myself back up to where
I'm able, I'm strong, I'm ready. I'm still probably about
twelve pounds down. I'm gonna get that right. I'm gonna
fit these overalls up like no other. But it has
been a tremendous journey and I'm truly thankful that God.

(02:50):
God is so good. God is so good. You have
no idea, You have no idea. How good God for
me to be here?

Speaker 4 (03:05):
You have no idea. Thank you.

Speaker 6 (03:08):
It's a totally different life. I mean, thank God. I'm now,
I'm done. I depend on depending you know, if you
know what I mean. I truly depending on depend Like
I cannot control my bladder, so I get up to
go to the bathroom already four or five times a night.

(03:28):
But then I'm sitting up there waking up. You know,
like grandson, We're in the same thing. We got the
same problem right now, we're going through the same trials
and tribulations. Were trying to see who has the heaviest
bag at the end of the night like this. It's ridiculous,
but I'm making a joke out of it. But it's real,
like it is real.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
It is real. It is real.

Speaker 6 (03:51):
So if you see for the party on the sideline,
it's real.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
So that is the latest from Coach Prime and is
his doctor about his issue which entire bladder removal and
he's going to be out there and just going through
that whole process. That that's rough man, And I guess
he lost a bunch of weight hoping to be ready

(04:16):
to go for the season. Feels like he's full go
and they they've cured it. But that is a that's
a lot to endure one off season going into next year.
So now we get to see how that plays out.
He'll have a porta potty on the sideline. I'm sure
there'll be plenty of sponsor opportunities for anybody.

Speaker 7 (04:35):
I'm just gonna say, like this is teed up for
a huge sponsorship.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
It depends.

Speaker 7 (04:39):
I mean, that's that's kind of the bright spot about it.
The tough thing is I mean just hearing about all
he's had to deal with and being in the.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
Dark about it.

Speaker 7 (04:50):
Yeah, how many people had any clue that he was
dealing with this? Just people this is in our circle?

Speaker 3 (04:56):
Is that it?

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Yeah? I think he said and mentioned that even people
and his family didn't know how serious it was, Like
he tried to keep it really under wraps because he
didn't want his son to were getting ready for the
NFL to have to worry about it.

Speaker 7 (05:09):
So it's also embarrassing, right, I mean the reality of it,
like like some portion of it you're probably you know,
concerned about just the overall like long term health, what's
going to happen. And the other thing is like some
of the issues you're dealing with are are embarrassing, like
you don't want people to know that. So that's completely understandable.
I'm just I'm glad he's on the other side of it,
hopefully clean bill health from here out.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
Moving forward.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Right, I knew something wasn't right when people was coming
in and out of his house. I knew something wasn't right.
He was in his home and prosper and he wasn't
in Colorado. He wasn't with Now. While you may say, okay,
well and it was health related why he missed certain

(05:52):
certain things with Colorado the year before, But when he
was at home and people were going in and out
of the house, like seeing Michael Irvin go visit, seeing
seeing Wayne go visit, I knew something was wrong. And
so and I'm not in that inner circle like I

(06:15):
know Prime, we were teammates, crazy respect for one another,
but I wasn't like in a phone group where it
was like this is what's going on. So I did
not have privied information like that. But what I will
say is is that I knew something wasn't right. What
it was, I did not know. But that was why

(06:39):
the whole idea when we discussed it yesterday was I
don't need to know why he isn't there. I know
there's something that's wrong. And then just listening to him
talk about, you know, things the preparing of a will
and stuff like that, and just the exercises that he
was going through and the way he sounded when he

(06:59):
was doing it that's not Prime, Like, it didn't sound
like Prime, and it sounded like it was really like,
you know, like a somber, sad person. Prime is always
like what we just heard. He's always giving God praise.
He's always very positive about things. He's always very very

(07:20):
upbeat and like high achieving mode. Like you can hate
on me, haters are fine, goa all applied this, that
and the other. I'm just thankful. That's always his way.
So for him to sound so vulnerable, I knew something
wasn't right. Now. I know Prime well enough. I know
Prime that well where I'm just listening to him, I

(07:44):
knew something wasn't all the way right, And so I
was going to reserve any type of judgments. I don't
think it comes down to this being one of those
situations where it's like I told you so type of deal.
I hope that any anybody out there that would and
media that was putting it out there, that maybe he's
using this as a way to not coach anymore. I

(08:07):
hope they issue out an apology just just for the
simple fact that you know you made, you tried to
make maybe a bold claim, and if it turns out
you're right, it turns out you're right, but you were
way wrong. If that's what you were saying, this was
his scheme, and I saw a lot of a lot

(08:27):
of comments, a lot of deals where that was what
people were trying to basically insinuate he doesn't want to
coach anymore because he's not coaching his sons. I don't
think this is I told you so moment. I think
this is a I'm thankful for people like Dion Sanders
because they while some people judge them for being as

(08:49):
transparent as they are, it's really the reason why people
love them so much is because of how talented and
how gifted. Maybe one of the most gifted, talented athletes
and history of sports. But he is very transparent with
everyone about who he is. You know, how how pimped

(09:10):
out that porta pot. He is going to be on
the sideline. Oh it's going to be clean. Oh my god,
it's going to be a clean one, nicest one ever.
I mean, it's going to be clean. Probably a bordat
in there all that stuff.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
Day?

Speaker 3 (09:22):
Is that how you say that? You how you say it?
How you sayay? Okay? You know you don't have to
laugh when I say funny words. I mean, just just
correct me. Well the whole the whole idea of but
just boor day, but sound off first off, Like you're
just saying how like One of the things that people

(09:42):
love about Dion is.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
How like open he is about all of this.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
Right.

Speaker 7 (09:46):
One of the things I enjoy about you is like
I'll get surprised at least once a week and I'll.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
Hear a word.

Speaker 7 (09:53):
I'll be like, oh, all right, I haven't heard it
pronounced like that before, and it gives me joy because
I know it's like you'll laugh at it. When someone
says like, no, it's the day, You'll be like, all right,
I got you should be a boor day. Yeah, day,
I like that you do that, person I feel like
Boorday sounds better than but day. Both of them weird
me out. Here's here's what I here's what I think

(10:14):
I think we should do. For guys, they're called boar days.
For girls, they're called bid days because I feel like
that that sounds more feminine.

Speaker 4 (10:23):
War day is like a you know, more manly thing
to clean your day hole.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
I don't want anybody spraying water my ass, you know
what I mean?

Speaker 3 (10:31):
Why?

Speaker 4 (10:32):
I have no idea what you mean?

Speaker 3 (10:34):
That's a day so clean? I just like being clean.
And back to their original point, so does Dion. Dion
likes being clean. Now, Wow, this is not about the
board day but day. By the way, I don't take
me saying words incorrectly personally. I just say that and

(10:56):
I do end up saying it the way I hear it,
and I like it anyway. But this is the front part, right,
So so this, the idea of it is is that
he's probably going to be super quick when he does it.
If he's not quick, it's probably because he has to
change of depending like and and on a more serious note,
I mean the idea of you're in a big, big

(11:19):
moment of the I guess I would assume he's just
going to stay out there. I would assume if his
if his bladder, you know, gets to going and he tinkles,
I would assume he's going to stay right in there
and continue. I mean, there are guys that have played.
I know. I'll make a guilty I'll make a guilty,
guilty guilty deal here. If it was a raining game

(11:48):
and the game is on the line, you know, I kneel,
I kneel like I was taking the knee, and they
go right down my leg, right down my leg. Only
if it was raining, though, if I really had to go,
like I gotta go, I'm not leaving this field. There's

(12:09):
no way I'm leaving this field. And there's no way
I'm going to miss a play. I kneel right down there,
on on, right on the knee, take a knee right there,
Let it go right down the leg, keep it moving,
and you know I do I get a water bottle,
you know, get like a little gatorade bottle, and I
spray my spray my leg and.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
If you got some lemon lime gatorade, get away.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
All the way in. Yeah, all the way in. I
get water, try to wash it out. You know. That's
a true story. Though I know a few guys that
do it. I don't know if that's still a thing.

Speaker 7 (12:40):
But buddy, we had gold pants, so you can you
can just go ahead.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
You just go ahead, just get away. I want to
Notre damecuse you could see our butt cracks that Penn State,
through our fans were I'm not saying I ever that.

Speaker 4 (12:56):
I'm just saying the twenty guys.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
You did do it, all right, I could. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
So Colorado kicks off a month from today.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
A month.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
Yeah, that's a.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
Oh they're they're they're they're game, they're opener. Yeah, I say,
because uh, you know, Penn State checked in, didn't didn't
has Notre Dame started, I'd have to look. Yes, yeah,
Penn State checked in on Monday. So that's a lot
to be going through going into the season away. That's
some heavy s. That is some heavy s to deal with.

(13:33):
Like did you see the videos that they were dropping yesterday,
Like he was fishing and he had like you know,
he had the drainage in there, like the I don't
know if it was a catheter. I don't think it
was a catheter. It might have been a catheter, uh,
but he had like he's sitting there fishing with it,
like right there, like boom, sitting right there on a
little little table or whatever. Like he goes deep with

(13:55):
with showing you the inside deal of what he's got
going on. Apparently his son documented the whole thing and
it's going to be dropping videos of what he's gone
through during the duration of time. So I mean, God
blessed Dion. Like you know what I mean, Like, good
luck to you. What'sh you all the best? What'sh you?

Speaker 8 (14:14):
Well?

Speaker 3 (14:15):
What'sh you? You know, more health and and and these
are things that really really humanize you know what this
is all about. Like sports is about being superheroes, you know,
but every once in a while you got to realize
that there is kryptonite that exists for superheroes. And and

(14:36):
seeing somebody who has been so like it's like, dang,
one of the greatest athletes of all time and he's
going through that. It's like seeing like like you know,
Muhammad Ali when he was like at the you know,
the older days where he wasn't like all the way
there and he had, you know, the shakes and all
that stuff. Man, When you see your heroes and they're
not that strong physical figure that you grew up seeing, man,

(14:59):
it really like puts things in perspective. But I appreciate
him being so open and so honest about it and
him raising raising the flag for bladder cancer and stuff
like that. And you know, good luck to you, bro,
and God bless man. That's what I say to it.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
Yeah, now, well said.

Speaker 1 (15:18):

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Kenny Pickett came up with a hamstring injury over the
weekend and Kevin Stefanski provided the media with an update
as to how that impacts the quarterback rotation there at
training camp.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
Let's take a listen.

Speaker 9 (16:28):
Yea happened at the end of practice there a couple
of days ago.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Felt something.

Speaker 4 (16:33):
So we'll just treat it.

Speaker 9 (16:34):
You know, for any player, you know, disappointed when you
can't be out there with any injury. But he'll be fine,
he'll rehab, he'll get back out very quickly. I don't
have a timeline we're and you know, with something like this,
we'll see how it goes. But his mindset, my mindset
will just go day to day, thinks.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
So many of the first team reps, did those I'll
go to Joe.

Speaker 8 (16:53):
Do you fute him by two or three or.

Speaker 9 (16:55):
It really depends on the period and what we're trying
to get accomplished in there, But Joe would get the majority.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Of So the ageis wonder Joe Flacco already with an
advantage going into this whole thing. Now, he's going to
extend his lead in the quarterback competition here with Kenny
pickt out, he's.

Speaker 7 (17:11):
Going to be the starter week one and probably should be.
I think he gives him the best chance to win.
You know, he's so experienced, he knows the division well,
he knows the team. It's not like he was not
on this team a couple of years ago. And obviously
what he did for that team, the fan base, everything else,
that was huge. So he makes the most sense going
into the season. How that impacts things or what this

(17:34):
team looks like after that, we'll off to wait and see.
But even the end of last season for Indianapolis, like
he kind of became that steady hand that was, you know,
calm the ship, if you will, for the Colts with
Anthony Richardson and just kind of what that looked like.
So he's trying to do the same thing here for
Cleveland as they've got a couple of rookies battling it

(17:56):
out and then a guy in Kenny Pickett, who if
he can't be out there, I just you're not gonna
be able to be in the competition. Like that's the
biggest thing. If he can't get back into this thing
and put together some some good preseason performances or good
scrimmages and cam that's a wrap.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
Yeah, I'm with you there, and listen, there's always been
this whole the fan fare. I mean, you look at
the amount of jerseys that Shador Sanders has sold. It's
crazy how popular he is. But nonetheless, he's still the
fourth string quarterback on this team. The reason why I
bring that up is because, well, I ultimately said, you know,

(18:33):
I was asked the question, does Dylan Gabriel does Shador
Sanders have the chance of starting? I said, Dylan Gabriel
has a slim chance of starting, and Shador Sanders has
a slim to none chance of starting unless unless you

(18:54):
have injuries, some unforeseen type of something happening taking place
with with Flacco or Picket. So here you go, here's
one Domino guy goes down. How long will he be
down for? I don't know. It sounds like Stephanski saying
it's day to day. I'm certain that Kenny Pickett is
rehabbing twenty five hours out of twenty four in a day,

(19:18):
trying to get back out there on the field. What
you do not want to do in a situation like
this is allow a player that is behind you to
surpass you. You do not want to allow for that
to happen. And now Kenny Pickett is in a situation
where he faces that already with Joe Flacco now being

(19:39):
the one that's gonna take the starting reps. And if
he's not in, then who's taking the second who's taking
the second quarterback reps? Is it gonna be? Is it
gonna be Gabriel? Is it gonna be Sanders? Bottom line
here is it opens the door up for three, not one,
not two. It opens up the door for three guys

(20:01):
to get further up the depth chart, get further up
the opportunity list of can I play? Will I get
an opportunity to play when things like this happen. So
it'd be interesting to see how long he stays out
from this injury, because I would assume he's going to
push to get back as quickly as he possibly can.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
The other like, I just keep going back to the
other reports that have been out there that well, yeah,
I mean this year, you know, whatever happens, they'll be
looking for another quarterback next year. It's like, all right,
So You've got what five on the roster this year,
and then next year in the draft are going to
be looking for another one because they acquired that other
first round pick from Jacksonville and the Travis Hunter deal,

(20:44):
and it's like, all right, so what is this year
just to waste a time? Like he took two quarterbacks
in this draft, and you know, if somebody else better
pops up, whether it's Arch Manning or whoever, next year,
you're just going to take somebody next year. It just
feels like this year they're already kind of doomed, which
sucks for Joe Flack go, but you know, if Kevin
Stevanski's in I've got to save my job mode. I
just don't know why you would lean any other direction

(21:06):
than Joe Flacco, especially with the success you guys had
a couple of years ago.

Speaker 7 (21:10):
Yeah, and I think how this thing's gonna play out
is Flacco will be the Day one starter and Pikett
wind up being the backup unless something dramatic changes where
he's out for a long time with this injury. Dylan Gabriel,
shud or Sanders are really able to jump ahead and
make the team feel like they could be that insurance policy,
or they may be, you know, worthy of taking some snaps,

(21:32):
you know, mid late part of the year because they
are ready.

Speaker 4 (21:35):
So but but you know that that scenario could play out.

Speaker 7 (21:39):
But I look at it and say, it's gonna be
Flacco pickets, your breakup, your Flacco.

Speaker 4 (21:47):
H Pigot's your insurance option.

Speaker 7 (21:50):
And then you're gonna have one one of the other
rookies will make the roster and then we'll be on
practice squad.

Speaker 4 (21:56):
You know, they'll still keep those kind of four around.

Speaker 7 (21:59):
And I don't know how Deshaun Watson in his rehab,
and you know he's starting the season on what pup
If I'm not mistaken, I'm not sure how that will
play into it at any.

Speaker 4 (22:08):
Point in time this year.

Speaker 7 (22:09):
I don't I wouldn't imagine if he had a fall
up surgery after what he had last year, he'll be
able to be healthy for this upcoming season. And it
doesn't feel like the Browns want him to be healthy
for the season. It feels like they want to move
on to twenty twenty six without Deshaun Watson at any
part of this team. At least that was the sentiment
early in the spring. Unless I'm wrong in that. Maybe
you guys heard that different.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
I don't know. He's enjoying the honeymoon phase of his
life right now, so you know he's getting it right.
I mean, hell, he may come back and be an
amazing ballplayer. You know. Marriage has a way of doing things,
you know, like, you know, changing your approach to things sometimes.
You know, I don't know he's.

Speaker 7 (22:48):
A player actually, now that you say that, because I
think this has actually been challenged too, by the way,
what player who had success before they got married then
got married and continue to have that success?

Speaker 3 (23:01):
Oh, I don't know. I mean I've never really delved
into looking at somebody.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
Yeah I have.

Speaker 7 (23:11):
I tell you something, Pal, tell me it is unless
the guy comes in married and is having success. You
don't see many who are having success in the single
days get married and continue that same success.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
It goes downhill. Oh yeah, Oh yeah, damn it went
downhill for me.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
Yeah, now that I think about it, now, I think
I was better at this job when I was saying hurt.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
My knees, man, my knees.

Speaker 4 (23:37):
You probably had more stories too, you know.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
Yeah, it's true. I got nothing.

Speaker 7 (23:41):
Now, yeah, well you don't. You don't want to share
anything now, but the stuff you have now you don't.
You're not like, oh, this isn't worth talking about.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
Because I don't know what's being said in the house.
So what do you want?

Speaker 7 (23:52):
Back in your single days, you were still like one
footing it, you know, in the room spinning and you're like.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
Telling some of those stories like that that those were
the good old days, you know, closed cyclop yourself, close
one eyes so you can watch the TV screen because
you can't focus because you're so blitzed that you I
want to figure out.

Speaker 3 (24:08):
I won't say the married or the single story. Dang,
they got that truck on.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
God, lady, they got the truck on bricks.

Speaker 3 (24:16):
That's Savage's so much going on out here. Hey, man,
I won't say single stories are better than married stories.
I'll just say they're different. They're very different. I won't
say they're boring, they're just there's.

Speaker 4 (24:30):
More single stories.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
Better come on the Like, name a story that's better
than seeing your your kid look at you and wait,
I did that? Not married? God? Dang, never mind. Name
me a story where the moment you got married and
you were saying your vows and you looked her in
the face and she looked you in the face. No,

(24:52):
maybe that didn't.

Speaker 7 (24:53):
It makes for awful radio if we're being honest. I mean,
come on, by the way, I will say this. I
remember what time this is. Years back, Jonas and I
went out to a bar and seeing like that glimpse
of what he looked like when he gets absolutely blitzed.
Because so he was standing back he was I was like, hey, man,

(25:14):
are you good. I was like, you're gonna be able
to get home?

Speaker 3 (25:16):
Okay?

Speaker 7 (25:17):
Because I think he was waiting on an uber or
maybe a cab or something. Knowing him he called like
or heart yellow taxi. But I remember I was sitting there.
He was looking at me like cross eyed. He's like, yeah, no,
I'll be fine. And I was sitting there, I was like, man,
this guy. I bet back in the day he could
get after it and have some fun. Yeah, for sure,
probably probably pulled the lap.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
When he had the le Brett you know, and that
thorn that he has on his arm, you know, still
there with Boss and Boss Hogg. Was a laugh. He
had he had the Librett my thorn, my son and
Boss Hogg, the five hundred pound mass my son.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
My son looked at my son looked at the at
the tattoo of my dog's pop friend and he just
asked me. A couple of weeks ago, he goes, why
did you get that, Papa, Papa, Papa, why did you
get that? I was like, I don't know, buddy, I
have no answers. Your dad made some mistakes.

Speaker 3 (26:10):
Okay, you sat down, you said, yes, this is what
I want. Take me through the process of that. Like
boss Hog, what boss Hog was sick?

Speaker 2 (26:19):
No, he was. We had another mastive that got bloat,
which I don't know if you guys know, Yes, that's
like one of the most horrific that.

Speaker 4 (26:27):
Your dog can have food or water, say boss hog.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
No, No, he didn't.

Speaker 3 (26:32):
His litter mate.

Speaker 2 (26:34):
So bloat is where they'll they'll take it. That's why
if you have an if you have a dog, little
friendly piece of advice. If you have a dog who's
got like a big rib cage and maybe narrow hips,
you know, like mastives, dogs like that sounds like raised.
That's correct, you raised the water bowl or the water dish.
Don't leave it on the ground because they take in

(26:55):
too much air when they're drinking water and it messes.

Speaker 4 (26:57):
Up their stomach.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
So you got blowed, he dyed, and so I was paranoid, thinking, well,
he died at like seven years old, so you know,
I want to have something to remember hog By.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
So I so he was alive. You got his tattoo,
You got tattooed. It wasn't like.

Speaker 2 (27:14):
Up and get the tattoo done. No, I had to
I had to get the actual pawprint. He always shook
left handed, so I made sure it was the left
paw print. His strong lef back lower that's right, and
then uh an arrow point right on the lower back,

(27:34):
your lower back. Well, yeah, that's the other one. That's
the other one that it says grab here and then
so Christian Wilkins probably put his hands on that one.
What is this?

Speaker 3 (27:52):
Simon says it.

Speaker 4 (27:56):
Done.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
It's like Steve O has your name tattooed on his ass,
literally your name. So so yeah, I just I got
it done. And I thought, man, this is a great idea.
And it just wasn't It was awful. So what answer said?
He just like, you just say, Papa, why did you
get that? I was like, I don't know, man, I

(28:18):
don't know what to tell them, like it just you know,
make mistakes. You know, you'll learn you'll be there one day.

Speaker 7 (28:24):
Yeah, there's there's most people I know that got tattoos
when they're younger.

Speaker 3 (28:29):
As they get older, they do regret them.

Speaker 7 (28:31):
And I've like tried to impart that wisdom on other
younger people who want to go get a tattoo. I
don't know who many who unless they're really really in
the tattoos they keep adding on. I don't know many
who either don't want to change it, wish they hadn't
gotten one, and it's it's just a whole thing.

Speaker 4 (28:47):
So I don't know. I always try to The.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
Other thing is you won't find a lot of people
that just have one tattoo, because once you get one.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
You have the urge for somebody to food war.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
But nowadays it's accepted. Back then, like my sister has
a tattoo on her wrist and she was working at
a restaurant, they would make you cover it up. Nowadays,
people like executives have full sleeves like, oh yeah, it's completely.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
On the hand and everything. Yeah, completely changed absolutely. Back then,
it was like you had to wear long sleep cover. Yeah,
you had to cover it up.

Speaker 2 (29:18):
Yeah, so you're gonna get a tattoo and how's the time.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
Ladies and gentlemen. He is Pete Prisco, senior NFL columnist
for CBS Sports, CBS Sports HQ analyst, and you can
get them on x at Prisco CBS Pete. Good morning,
Hi Pete.

Speaker 8 (29:46):
What's up?

Speaker 3 (29:47):
Guys? Are you good morning? Pete?

Speaker 4 (29:49):
Where you are right now?

Speaker 8 (29:51):
I'm on my way to Jaguars camp?

Speaker 3 (29:53):
Oh? Court you all?

Speaker 7 (29:54):
Yeah, let's just chick it off with this question. It's
a huge year for Trevor Lawrence.

Speaker 4 (29:59):
Like, is he is? He He finally gonna like prove
to some of the doubters out there that he can
be the guy.

Speaker 8 (30:05):
Are you a doubt or Brady?

Speaker 4 (30:07):
No, I am, I'm not.

Speaker 3 (30:08):
I'm on that list.

Speaker 8 (30:10):
Well, and yeah he is. And here's why, I mean,
look at look at the career arc of that guy.
He had to deal with Urban Meyer, the worst coach
in the history of the National Football League, for a
year as a rookie. Sorry, Fox, but that's the reality.

Speaker 10 (30:26):
That's an unnecessary shot that shot, Pete, and then the
pudding come on, and then and then and then he
had gets injured.

Speaker 8 (30:37):
He's got to learn new offenses every year. And so
I do finally think he's going to put it all together.
I will say this, And he's mechanically he's different. And
when I saw him in VINDI camp, he looks different.
He's tightened things up and he needed to because he,
you know, Brady, he's a long strider with a long
line up, and I think he needed to tighten things up.
And it looks like he has. But when the games

(30:59):
start playing again, does it does he revert back to
what he normally does, and so there is concern about it.
It is a big year, there's no question. You're not
wrong about that, Brady. He has to go out and
prove the people that he's worth the money and worth
the number one overall pick well.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
He's getting the money, so he's worth the money. But
it's just was was it worth it? I guess in
terms of yeah, I mean, LeVar, just because you get paid,
that mean you're worth the money. That's exactly what it means. Pete.

Speaker 7 (31:24):
I mean, yeah, exactly what it means, Pete. That's what
it means you getting paid the money worth He.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
Got paid the money, that's exactly now, whether he proves
it to the people that that support the paying of it,
you know, the fans and all those you know, the
people watching that that yes, that.

Speaker 8 (31:42):
Remain Wait a second, So every player who's ever got
paid a contract proved to be worth all that money.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
No, that's not what I said. That they proved to
be worth the money. They they got the money.

Speaker 8 (31:55):
They got the money, doesn't mean they proved that they are.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
Worth getting the money. Now what they did after that that,
you know, that remains to be seen. Maybe it didn't
pay an out that way, but they got the money.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
They're not gonna pay somebody just on well we think
maybe that they paid it because he's clearly shown something
and they're like, well, let's get ahead of it first,
Like why wait to pay him if we think that
he's going to be the guy?

Speaker 3 (32:20):
No, not going to just give you a contract. You
had to prove that you were worth getting the contract. Now,
did you live up to what it was that they
hoped you would live up to after you got the contract?
That's different. You know, Trevor Lawrence has not lived up
to my estimation, he has not lived up to what
the hype that surrounded him as a Clemson great. He

(32:45):
has not lived up to that expectation or to what
that that thought would be projection would be at the
league level. I think he's a jag right now. Not
just a jag wire, but he's a jag, you know.
And that's that's for now. You get paid all the
big bucks, Pete, you've proven yourself.

Speaker 8 (33:04):
Yeah, yeah, but it becomes a question am I worth it?
I mean that's the bottom line. Look, it's like Levar's
rationale is like if you go into a restaurant, you
pay sixty five I mean not sixty five, one hundred
dollars for a stake, yes, and you carve into it
it is very good. Well it was worth it because
you know, because I paid that much for it.

Speaker 3 (33:20):
So here's the reason, here's the reason why your reasoning
is not aligned with what the reality of it is.
Is that you could actually return that steak at if
it's a fine dining restaurant and that steak does not
live up to the standard of steak that has been advertised.
That's false advertising, and you can get your money back.

(33:42):
They can either give you another steak, or they can
give you a money back, whatever it may be. In
this scenario, when somebody has played well enough where they
earn a contract, and if say, for instance, it's a
guaranteed contract, say, for instance, let's go extreme and make
it to Shaun Watson. The fact of the matter is
there's not one time that he's proven he was worth

(34:04):
that contract in Cleveland. Yet he did whatever it was
that he did in order to deserve the opportunity to
get that contract in the first place. So, whether he
did anything after the contract or not, he did enough
where Cleveland awarded him a contract that was fully guaranteed.

(34:24):
And whether he proved it or not, which he did,
it proved that he's worth the contract. That's his money.
So he proved that he was worth the contract because
he got it in the first place.

Speaker 8 (34:35):
I mean, it might prove he proved that the Browns
are idiots, that's what he proved.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
Oh well maybe, but they're idiots. And he has two
HUNDREDUS thirty plus million dollars going into his bank account.
So I mean he proved something. He proved something to
p Prisco.

Speaker 8 (34:52):
Yeah, he proved, he proved he got the money because
the Browns were idiots and he proved he's not worth
the contract.

Speaker 3 (34:57):
It's just like I said, well, well, Aaron Rodd, just
prove Mike Tollin and con will Will he prove the
Steeler Nation? Will he prove them right this year?

Speaker 8 (35:07):
And by that you mean like getting to the postseason?

Speaker 3 (35:10):
Yep, maybe even competing for the AFC nor.

Speaker 8 (35:14):
No, No, I think they're a third team in the division.

Speaker 3 (35:18):
I really do.

Speaker 8 (35:19):
Look, he might be able to play like he did
at the end of last year and be pretty good,
but I just don't see that team beating the Bengals
or the Ravens in that division. Now, they'll be feisties,
will be tough every week because that's what they are.
That's the Steeler way. But I don't think that they're
better than the Browns or the Bengals, I mean the
Ravens or the Bengals in that division. So no, I

(35:39):
don't think they're gonna be a player.

Speaker 4 (35:41):
You're out on Rogers.

Speaker 8 (35:43):
No, I'm out on the Steelers. I don't think the Steelers. Look,
the Steelers had problems running the ball last year, which
has been their calling card for a long time. They
weren't great. You know, stopping to run. They weren't great
pressure from the quarterback. They had issues last year, and
now they're all in on Rogers and ram Z and
you know metcalf And I mean, he's not not exactly

(36:03):
like the mix of locker room guys you'd like to
have in there. So I do think there's gonna be
problems for that.

Speaker 3 (36:10):
M Hey, Pete, Uh, what can you tell us about
Christian wilkins odd behavior in the locker room? What have you?

Speaker 2 (36:18):
I know, you've dug into this real deep, real deep,
you know, I.

Speaker 8 (36:22):
Really, I really haven't, by the way.

Speaker 3 (36:24):
And you've you've thumbed through it. You've through this and
thumbed it.

Speaker 8 (36:28):
Yeah, yeah, it's odd. Let's just put it at that.
It's odd. But do you think that's the reason he
was let go?

Speaker 3 (36:37):
No, they didn't want to pay him, of course, not
if he was.

Speaker 8 (36:41):
Still if he was still healthy and had had done
the proper rehab on the foot and everything else, they wouldn't.
They wouldn't have cared. And so you always come up
with an excuse and then you start, you know, leaking
out crap all over the place to make it look
better for you. That's that's just the way it is
in the NFL. You know that it's a it's a
nice business.

Speaker 4 (37:01):
Uh, I're curious.

Speaker 7 (37:04):
Oh boy, yeah, that's that's some I've never heard of
some of the stuff that's coming out.

Speaker 4 (37:10):
I've never witnessed that.

Speaker 7 (37:12):
But again, quarterbacks, I always say, quarterbacks aren't really in
the locker room a ton as much as other position groups,
Like we're more in the quarterback.

Speaker 4 (37:20):
Room a lot.

Speaker 7 (37:20):
So it's like a lot of the tom foolery and
shenanigans that were going on we didn't witness quite as much.
So if a guy was tickling another dude's feet, like
I really maybe we're aware of something like that happening,
but like didn't see it firsthand, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 8 (37:37):
And you would stop it. I mean, something came over
and started tickling your feet, You're like, kill off of me.

Speaker 7 (37:42):
Well, no, people be fighting. They'd be or you would
be like what the bleep are you doing? Like get
the away from me?

Speaker 8 (37:49):
You know, But Brady, I'm not. I'm not like Johnny Hugger.
You know how guys hug and at me. I don't.

Speaker 7 (37:55):
Well, but so so we brought this point up though,
because there was an of kissing someone's forehead. And you
are Italian, and I said, you know, Italian guys are
really affectionate towards one another.

Speaker 3 (38:06):
You know it's a little hey are you doing?

Speaker 6 (38:07):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (38:09):
Like you do take the cheek, Brisco.

Speaker 8 (38:14):
Yeah, but you know I'm not three. That's not me.

Speaker 4 (38:17):
Okay, but you can't hold on as an Italian American.
You're gonna tell me right now. Italians are passionate men
towards other Italian men.

Speaker 8 (38:26):
Well, normally they are, but that's just not the way
I know I'm kiss That's not me. I'm just not.
I'm not. I don't want, you know, the huggers and
all that and everything.

Speaker 2 (38:38):
Let's go.

Speaker 7 (38:41):
But you could see how two Italians, you know, there
may be some of that, you know, Italian love going
on between two guys.

Speaker 8 (38:47):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, but not not you know, disrespect
and you know Italians like men kiss each other all
the time. That ain't my cup. I can tell you that, right.

Speaker 4 (38:57):
Hey, let's transition note to the Jaguars taking over his
head coach there this year.

Speaker 7 (39:03):
What's your expectation for just kind of being around that,
seeing how he runs practice, seeing how he kind of
takes over and I know he's young and there are
some that quirky stuff.

Speaker 4 (39:14):
Du all, like, there's some of that stuff going on,
but like, what's your expectations what you're going to see?

Speaker 8 (39:20):
Well, I think I love the way he runs an offense.
I mean, I think his offense is gonna be really
good and catered to everything that he wanted to get
the ball out of Trevor's hands and everything. But as
far as leading the team, so far, so good. I mean,
you know, you hear he loves being on the field.
You know, he's one of those guys. So there's always
the problem, Brady, And you know this because you've been
around a legue all time, so befar when when a
guy becomes a head coach. You know, it's not just

(39:43):
about calling plays and ball and being on the grass.
You got to deal with all the crap around you.
So that's the question for any head coach, how is
he going to handle that? Because he talks a lot
about being you know, being on the grass and everything else,
but it's different. Now, it's a different it's a different scenario.
You got to handle every everything. So that's my only,
you know, concern is how will that adjustment be for him.

(40:04):
I think he'll be fine, but you never know until
still it comes time. And you know, and just talking
to people around the organization, they love what they see
from him so far. But again there's no wins and losses.

Speaker 3 (40:15):
Uh. You know.

Speaker 8 (40:16):
And and by the way, the Duval thing kind of
bothered me a little bit because he got he got
a little you know, kissy with it, and why not
just embrace it, you know. He wanted it all to
go away, you know. And I told him one day,
I said, you know, I was at the comment. I said,
you know what you should do. What you should have
a contest to see what man can imitate your version
of it better than anybody else agrees, and let him win,

(40:38):
Let him win a prize like tickets or something, you know.
And he didn't. He didn't. He wanted to go away.
So it didn't going away.

Speaker 3 (40:43):
By the way, I can tell you that that's a
good pool.

Speaker 8 (40:46):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (40:46):
Pete. So a week ago you were on your way
to quote unquote Camp Softy, which is the Miami Dolphins.
H how did those comments land with people there in Miami?

Speaker 8 (40:58):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (40:59):
And how were you were received when he got there?

Speaker 8 (41:01):
I was received very well. I was I was very
well received. You know, I did a nice, nice, uh
sit down with Tyreek Hill where he was actually really
good and opening candid, and I asked him, you know,
he's talking about how he's going to do things differently,
he's going to be the best of his career and everything.
I said, well, why haven't you been that way the
whole career? You know, I mean, it's just a legitimate question.
And by the way, during that interview, I looked, you know,

(41:22):
he's lean now, he's down the one hundred and eighty
eight pounds. I didn't know he was down that far.
And I said, what happened? Why'd you do that? He goes, well,
when I was in Kansas City, I was one eighty eight.
When I got here, I was one ninety five. And
then he threw he threw a stray out there. He said,
you know, I felt like Maurice Jones Drew for a while.
I was like, whoa, there's a shot. Yeah, And I

(41:42):
didn't realize that. I get he's from Georgia and he
grew up a Jaguars fan, so he used to always
watch Maurice Jones Drew. But that I said, my gosh.
And as soon as he got on there, somebody said
that to Maurice, and you know, Marie, he ain't going
to take that one double. But yeah he took. He
took a stray, but he he's lean, he's in shape.
But you look, you want a new con track, want
A and B. You know the culture change? Everybody all

(42:04):
the talk about is the culture change. We're going to
change the culture. You can't change the culture. Your coach
established the culture. He's going to change it all of
a sudden, tang. You know, you're a parent, you guys parents,
When you're a parent, if you let your kids get
away with murder for four years, then all of a
sudden in year five, you say this is the way
it's going to be. You think it's gonna work. No,
of course not.

Speaker 3 (42:25):
Let It takes something extream and it takes some extreme
measures to see if it will work. Let me give
you one more from me, Pete.

Speaker 8 (42:31):
What's an extreme measure? What's an extreme message?

Speaker 3 (42:35):
I've had extremely waterboarding. Now I don't water board. Yeah,
I've banned them from their rooms from time to time,
like you're not allowed to live in your room. Like
if you don't want to take care of it, then
it'll be cleaned up and you can't go in it,
like you'll be banned from it.

Speaker 8 (42:51):
But anyway, you throw them out on the street, you
throw them out on the street. Well, no, they.

Speaker 3 (42:55):
Wouldn't be out on the out on the streets. They
just wouldn't be in their room because they don't keep
their rooms clean. And and last I checked. You know,
your chores are your chores. But if you want to
play games and be on your iPad stuff like that,
those things will get taken away from you and you
won't have the privileges that you once thought you had.

Speaker 2 (43:13):
Always do it.

Speaker 8 (43:14):
I'm not going to hurt them.

Speaker 3 (43:17):
I'm just well I can. I know how to discipline people.
You got to hit them where it hurts, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 6 (43:23):
But I like it.

Speaker 8 (43:24):
I like it, LeVar. You know why because nowadays kids
get away with.

Speaker 3 (43:28):
Their Yeah, they get away with it, like yeah, okay,
you don't want to clean your room, you can't stand it.

Speaker 8 (43:32):
But like you go away with your friends or whatever,
and the kids in the water and okay, we're ready
to go now, and he's like, well I'm staying in
the water. No you're not. We're ready to go, And
they just come on, please, we'll take away your iPad.
If you don't get out, get the hell out of
the damn water.

Speaker 3 (43:47):
You just got to be created.

Speaker 8 (43:48):
My dad would have came and grabbed me and threw
me out of the water.

Speaker 3 (43:51):
Yeah, it's a team effort. Like my wife, she used
to put them if they got into fight, she put
them in a T shirt and they had to walk
around in the same T shirt. If I ban them
from their room, and they would have to stay in
one of their rooms and the other one that if
they're keep trying to keep they're going to try to
keep their room cleaner so that they don't have to

(44:11):
share the room. Right, So you just gotta you gotta
outsmart them sometimes, Pete. That's all. Speaking of out smarting,
my last question for you would be, you know, I
saw that they took McLaurin off of off of the
inactive's list and added them to the pupp list because
he didn't report in. Do you think they get the
deal done? Is this an indicator that they get the

(44:33):
deal done sooner or do they feel like they're closer
to maybe trading them?

Speaker 8 (44:37):
What?

Speaker 5 (44:38):
What?

Speaker 8 (44:39):
What is? You know?

Speaker 3 (44:40):
What you see is the situation with that they all get.

Speaker 8 (44:43):
Done, all of them. Now, Chamark Stewart's done, and now
turn mclaurin's in. And it's only a matter of a
couple of weeks before Trey Henderson can roll again. And
all get done. They all show up and play. And
the reason is you can't leave that money on the table.
There's only so many earning years in your b don't
blow it. And they know it, and they all show up.
He'll get a new contract from the from the commanders,

(45:05):
and and he'll play. It happens all the time. I've
been around this league a long time. Nobody's stupid enough. Well, okay,
levey On Bell was, but that's a whole other issue.

Speaker 4 (45:13):
Didn't Emmitt Smith miss a couple of games? He did Cowboys?

Speaker 8 (45:18):
He did way back in the day.

Speaker 3 (45:19):
He did.

Speaker 8 (45:22):
Good memory Baby.

Speaker 7 (45:23):
Well, No, we had talked about earlier in the week,
just about other Cowboys and how they've gone about.

Speaker 4 (45:27):
I mean, I'll put it this way.

Speaker 7 (45:29):
Do you think this deal gets done if Micah Parsons
decided not to show up for camp because.

Speaker 4 (45:33):
CD did it worked? Zeke did it worked? I mean,
it feels like Jerry Jones is reactive to that.

Speaker 8 (45:42):
Yeah, I think Parsons will get his deal done in
the next couple of weeks. You watch, it'll get done.

Speaker 2 (45:46):
I mean they we're not saying.

Speaker 7 (45:48):
It's not gonna get done. Obviously it'll get done. Do
you see a sense of urgency for teams when they.

Speaker 4 (45:55):
Guy's not there?

Speaker 3 (45:57):
No?

Speaker 8 (45:57):
I don't because I think you guys know this. Michael
Parsons doesn't practice and training camp. He shows up the
week one, He's still going to be able to rush
the passer. That's you know, he's a vetter. Now for
somebody like Chamar stew With, that matters because he missed
time and he needs to be on the field.

Speaker 7 (46:11):
Well yeah, but you always side with the Bengals even
though they're trying to put language in his No, no, no, I.

Speaker 8 (46:16):
Don't always side with the bank.

Speaker 4 (46:17):
Get hey, hey, Duke, how you doing, Duke? We know
you're Peter good friends.

Speaker 3 (46:20):
Is he in the car?

Speaker 6 (46:22):
Cut this up?

Speaker 8 (46:23):
And what's up? Good job?

Speaker 3 (46:25):
Duke?

Speaker 8 (46:26):
You you you you won again?

Speaker 3 (46:28):
Duke?

Speaker 8 (46:28):
Good job?

Speaker 2 (46:30):
Hey Pete, before we let you go, I did want
to ask you quickly. You are at Bucks camp as
well too? How does Tampa look this year?

Speaker 8 (46:37):
He loves Baker and Maakefield broke news on my when
I did my interview with him, and then and then
everybody else ran with it and reported sources. But he
told me I did the interview with him, but like
lunchtime yesterday and I asked hibout his contract. I said,
you're way way, way way down here now in terms
of the quarterbacks around the NFL, and and I said,
what's up? And he said, they talked new contract, but

(46:59):
they gave him to keep money in twenty twenty six.
They guaranteed the contract, so he got that from him.
Kind of is an appeasement, but he wants a long
term deal, and he's going to get a long term deal.
And you know, if he goes down and plays like
you did a year ago, they have to give him
a big mega deal.

Speaker 7 (47:15):
And I think they will right right, if they do
what you think they're gonna do this year, he will
have that deal, you know, ready for him in twenty twenty.

Speaker 8 (47:21):
They're good, man. That's a good that's a team everybody's
sleeping on. That's a good team of all eleven starters
back when they're healthy on offense. And then they've had
your kid by the way from Notre Dame. They're raving
about Benjamin Marston by the way, just raving about him.

Speaker 4 (47:35):
And he was a Pirates first first round pick if
he didn't get hurt, you know, and.

Speaker 8 (47:39):
Jacob Pirates the nickel corner from the little corner from
Kansas State. They loved him. I mean, they're faster, they're
more athletic because if Osty Agentis is back, Elijah Knty's unblockable,
they're gonna be really good. They're gonna be really good.
And I mean they can make a deep playoff run,
especially in that division, right yeah. I mean, you know Atlanta,

(48:00):
that was what they're gonna be. But that's the only team.
You look at it on paper and say they're a
team that can push him. But I I don't think
they as good as the box. Uh.

Speaker 3 (48:07):
He is the great. Pete Prisco, senior NFL columnist for
CBS Sports, CBS Sports.

Speaker 2 (48:11):
H Q analyst. If you want the smoke, he can
get it on X at Prisco, CBS. Pete, we appreciate it,
enjoy Jags camp and we'll talk next week.

Speaker 3 (48:20):
You got it all, buddy?

Speaker 2 (48:21):
There he is, Uh, Pete.

Speaker 4 (48:23):
Prisco with us on didn't let us say a four goodbye?

Speaker 3 (48:25):
There? He got him up out of here, out of there.

Speaker 2 (48:29):
Wow, Lea Pete seemed like he was in a hurry.

Speaker 8 (48:31):
Was he.

Speaker 2 (48:34):
Seems like he was ready to walk talk to you guys.
I did know he was on his way to camp
and wanted to come on earlier today, so we were
happy to do that for him.

Speaker 3 (48:42):
Nice.

Speaker 2 (48:43):
He got to be there on time. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (48:45):
Man as Jaggs camp. You know he's gotta he's got
to get his pain on his face. He's got to
get that front row front rows then and the fan section.
You're fighting like lines of media members who were waiting
to get the Jaguars camp. Please going the chair a
chair to team on. He's not going for interviews.

Speaker 2 (49:03):
Camp softy? Like this call, like a guy just walks
up with the Tan of the century just walks up
and starts calling NFL players and their coaches. Camp softy,
what are we doing?

Speaker 3 (49:20):
And broad shoulders, don't forget the bride shoulders. Oh man,
I love peetle
