Speaker 1 (00:02):
Is the best of two pros and a couple Joe
with LaVar rating Winn and Jonas Knox on radio.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
How the hell are we feeling here on a football Friday?

Speaker 3 (00:17):
There he is, He's back, Let's go. I'm alright, guys,
permissed you guys too?

Speaker 2 (00:27):
What up? Sticks?

Speaker 4 (00:29):
What's going on?

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Do you you tell me?

Speaker 4 (00:35):
What's u? What's the word? Verb?

Speaker 5 (00:38):
Verb?

Speaker 4 (00:38):
Is the word?

Speaker 6 (00:39):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (00:41):
So at one point do you think Russell Wilson is
going to start getting nervous about his starting job with
the Giants?

Speaker 4 (00:48):
When do you think there it goes?

Speaker 7 (00:49):
I mean, didn't everyone look good for the Giants last night?

Speaker 2 (00:52):
I mean, you know, LaVar was trying to tell us
that's a dark horse sleeper team, you know, because.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
They are dark horse team. Leave that dark horse, dunk
real dark black horse. Yeah, black stallion, black zilla.

Speaker 8 (01:14):
Can I throw out another question for you guys though,
and this is nothing against Ben Woolridge?

Speaker 7 (01:19):
Wooldridge?

Speaker 8 (01:21):
Could the Patriots be a team that are going to
be a player trading for a backup?

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Like?

Speaker 7 (01:26):
Are they watching what's happening with the Giants? Quarterbacks? Tommy DeVito?
How you doing?

Speaker 8 (01:31):
Who goes in there and absolutely rips it? Up there
at the end Jackson dark. They're obviously not getting rid
of Jamison Winston. He looked good as well. At first
pass gets there's rips a touchdown pass the Jalen has
his name Jamison.

Speaker 7 (01:45):
That I said jamis so.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Jameison sounded like you said Jameson like we were going drinking.
But a good Hey, Brady, I knew who you were
talking about.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
I'm not here. I'm dead too. I just I wouldn't
do that.

Speaker 7 (01:57):
I mean, maybe I have Jamison on the mine right now.

Speaker 4 (01:59):
It's a fly absinth.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Last night, you know, Paul, I gotta work through this
first hour. I can feel that I got it. I
got the best night's rest last night though.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
So it was good.

Speaker 8 (02:17):
There's a thing you get a little to lap in
you by the way when you travel, just a little bit.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
No, I mean maybe I was about to really say no.
Then I thought about how many drinks I had yesterday?
I had I had what four Stolies? I had four
tall Stolies and Capital Girl yesterday. So I love my son. Yeah,
we had had a nice little meal.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
You know.

Speaker 7 (02:44):
It's good.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
It's good.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
I mean, I'm not here for a great thing, so
I'm home for a funeral, But you know, yeah, it is.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
What it is.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Absinthe is not far from morphine, correct.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
On God, that takes you to a different level, a
different plane of.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
Where you're at.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Like when I woke up, when my alarm woke up
this morning, it was like I was in like.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Like Looney Tuneville bro. I had to figure out.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
I had to stop, take a moment and figure out
where I was because for two seconds, I was like,
am I in California?

Speaker 4 (03:25):
Am I home? Or where am I at right now?

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Lee? What's the on the spectrum of hard booze is?

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Nothing messes with that where it's like one hundred and
thirty percent proof.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
I was gonna say, where is absinthe in comparison to
say moonshine or like some really really strong alcohol. Where
would you put it?

Speaker 4 (03:45):
Well, it falls into the liquor category.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
I mean moonshine is going to be your your one
hundred and forty proof, I believe, so that's going to
be your.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
Top echelon before above absinthe.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
An absinthe is what's the abb You know, it was
that like one thirty like.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
LeVar said, or no one, that's what they told me
last night. So that's doing it.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
That's I mean, that's doing it.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
It was a it was a doer well, definitely, But
I only did it so that I could, like, you know,
I didn't sleep well the night before, Like I had
a rough night's sleep.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
It was a rough travel day.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
So I wanted to get a good night'sdress so I
could come in and be sharp and feel really good
doing the show with you.

Speaker 4 (04:31):
Guys this morning, you know. And so that's what I did. Man.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Some people had great conversation with a son and his
dad at the bar. We talked about a lot of
different things.

Speaker 7 (04:40):
You know.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
It was good. It was really good.

Speaker 7 (04:42):
You are a conversationalist, that is.

Speaker 8 (04:43):
That is one time I'd say to all our listeners
out there, if you ever see LeVar, come up and
say hi.

Speaker 7 (04:48):
Like he'll he'll go help a drink with you, He'll
talk to you.

Speaker 8 (04:52):
I've been with him before a while. I think it
was someone's wedding party weekend. You know, he'll he'll join
in the festivities.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
I will, Okay, I kissed the I'll kiss the newly
wife and the mouse and wish you guys well and
good luck and all that stuff.

Speaker 7 (05:05):
He's really gonna do it.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
He's really he's really good. Did he really?

Speaker 7 (05:10):
Just I'll never forget that you're burying her?

Speaker 1 (05:17):
Wow?

Speaker 4 (05:20):
Did I do that?

Speaker 7 (05:24):
Come here, sweetheart, come here? Congratulations, good luck?

Speaker 4 (05:30):
Remember what it's like just a man.

Speaker 8 (05:33):
This dude, this dude was bad, way out of his league,
and LeVar very subtly let him know.

Speaker 7 (05:41):
It was great.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
I don't even remember, but it sounds one like like
something I would do.

Speaker 7 (05:47):
Is it was awesome. I was just like, yes, this
needs to happen right now. This entire barnings to know.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
So Brian day Ball, Yeah, last night was talking about
the possibility of Jackson Dart, you know, maybe getting some run.
He's very happy. Jackson Dart is a is a quarterback
for the New York Giants. He's happy they picked him.
But he was not happy about the fact that Jackson

(06:16):
Dart took a little bit of a hit. Thought maybe
he picked up a concussion. Here was the Giants head coach.

Speaker 5 (06:20):
Got the one knocked out of him. He's good, Yeah,
I went coach it out of him. There's just certain
times that you got to make the right decision. I
would say, in this particular game, is probably a good
time to slide in the third preseason game. You know,
every situation is different. I've had a different quarterbacks that

(06:41):
can that can run and are pretty productive running the football.
You know, there's a time in the place. You know,
you'd like to take as few hits as you can.
But I like Jackson's competitiveness, his toughness. You know, we
got to make the right decision, and those are split
second decisions, Connor. So you know, I trust I trust him,

(07:02):
I trust the guys that that I've been around, our guys.
I trust him to do the right thing. But I'll
never take his competitiveness away.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
He's also got a sweet little chain. Do you see
Jackson Dart's got a chain that he wears while he plays.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
I mean it's like he's a pretty swag that will do.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
Man.

Speaker 4 (07:20):
You know old miss dude Lane Kiffin. Do you know.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
He got that? He got that. Uh, he's got that
aura you know, so, oh no, don't start doing that.
He's got that aura about him.

Speaker 7 (07:32):
There's something about it where I'm just like, hey, man,
you're a quarterback.

Speaker 8 (07:34):
You don't need all that, you know, like where that
crap off the field on the field just be you.

Speaker 7 (07:38):
You know.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
Yeah, I think they're changing, man, guys are they're they're changing.
The evolution is taking place, It's not it's not as
clear cut anymore. You know, those guys are a little
bit more like us than what they were when you
were playing Q.

Speaker 4 (07:54):
You know, I don't know.

Speaker 7 (07:55):
I first off, I am more.

Speaker 8 (07:58):
I'm more the type in general where I'm like, why
if you're playing a game, would you or something so valuable? Yeah,
someone can snatch your chain, Like, you don't take that
going into battle?

Speaker 7 (08:09):
Do you like?

Speaker 8 (08:10):
And I don't remember in three hundred any of those
guys warring any jewelry. Yeah, I don't either. Like they
were going out there. They were going out there to kill,
to hunt. That's right, that's right, Like, that's how it
should be, you know what it's right. And I got
a different philosophy. I think these that's right. You know,
they want to be they want to want to make
new friends. My chains don't want to make any new
friends exactly.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
So what's more acceptable? What's more acceptable? The chain or
painted fingernails?

Speaker 4 (08:38):
Would you say chain? I'm going with the chain all day.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
I don't even feel like that's a if I had
to decide one that I can tolerate Chain.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
I'm gonna go with Chain.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
This is your football we're talking about, Harry, this is
your your the sport. You guys you know, grew up
playing the sport we all love and we're talking about.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
I'm not judging. I'm not a judger of things.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Listen, I'm not gonna judge cats that paint their fingernails.
They may have a valid reason as to why they
feel like that's their their thing. I'm just saying it
wouldn't be me, that's all. And I'm gonna leave it
at that. It just it wouldn't It wouldn't be me.
So there you go.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
Wow, different time.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
But Jackson Dark, he's a dark on the board, and
he's close to it. I gotta say he's close to
a bullseye.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Man.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
Now, if that's this year, it may eventually be this year.
But what I will say, and I have said it,
you're correct in saying that Jonas, this uh, this New
York Giants team, I think they're going to be competitive
and and and I mean competitive where it they might

(09:52):
sneak up on everybody in the NFC East. They could
sneak up on on everybody, including the Eagles. I know
people are starting to we're getting to the point of
where we're making the Eagles this like, uh, this mythical figure,
you know, where they're they're probably as hard.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
To beat as geez pause big pause.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
There they're They're They're a difficult team to play against
at this point. They're loaded with talent, and you know,
everybody is is on their bandwagon. But I just there's
something about the makeup of this this Giants team. I
think their defense up front is going to be just

(10:38):
as good, if not better this year than what they
were last year. And I feel like the offense is
going to to take and I think this is the
biggest part of it. I think the offense is going
to take a major step forward this year. And I
think that's pretty much all they were lacking in terms
of being a better team from from a year ago.

(10:59):
So I really do think this Giants team is going
to be competitive, Like they'll have a winning record. I
think they'll compete, contend to get into the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
Oh so you're going winning record for him? Like you
have nine win Giant team. What was the the over
underwind total on them? Like a half, I believe, but
I think it was like a half like they were
one of the favorites to go in seventeen.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
Let me find the are they really? No?

Speaker 7 (11:26):
Do you do this?

Speaker 4 (11:27):
What do you mean?

Speaker 2 (11:29):
Like I'm asking questions here. I mean if nobody has
the answers, then nobody has the answers. I'm just trying
to get to that. I think we all know they weren't.
They weren't favored to be the last team in the NFL.
I'm not sure why does this? I thank John I
can find this way here. Just you know, they're near
the bottom of as far as teams expected to, you know,

(11:50):
climb the ladder, and so you don't have high expectations
for those what you're saying, no, no, I don't.

Speaker 7 (11:54):
The schedules. The schedule's brutal, schedules, tough, the schedule.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Stuff, And at some point I just look at it
and I go, Brian Dave balls on the clock, Joe
Shane's on the clock. They've got to show to ownership
that you know they're worth sticking with, and if you're
in with a really tough schedule. The way to do that,
in my mind is if the wins aren't, there is

(12:17):
the hope there, and the hope is there with Jackson Dart,
and so that's why I look at it and go
at some point and I think the over under we
threw out was what eight and a half week eight
and a half before he gets his opportunity or something
like that earlier in the week. I just think at
some point they've got to go to him and be like, yeah,
we may not be a playoff team, but with us,
we can develop this young quarterback into being the franchise

(12:39):
quarterback you guys want him to be. Because the future
is not with Russ, it's with Jackson Dart, and so
I think that's where they're.

Speaker 8 (12:44):
That's true if but let's not forget too this is
Russell's first season there. So if they do find a
way of winning games with Russ, because I don't feel
like they're that far off they fall.

Speaker 7 (12:56):
They're one of those teams that fill in.

Speaker 8 (12:57):
The category of if they just had average orderback play
last year, they would.

Speaker 7 (13:02):
Have been fine. Like defensively, they're a good team, you know,
can they run the football? You know, we'll see. Obviously
they took a step back last year with Saquon going
to Philly, and they had to watch that right in
their face. Twice a year. But I think they're going
to get back to a team that's going to be
better on offense. They've got their defense. I'm with the LeVar.
I think they'll be competitive this year.

Speaker 8 (13:23):
I think, you know, Russell when he is healthy, and granted,
it's a new system for him, so we'll see if
there's any growing pains there. But I think they'll play
a winning brand of football, limit turnovers, play good defense,
you know, winning the margins and those situations.

Speaker 7 (13:39):
That's a style that can win.

Speaker 8 (13:41):
The toughest part about is it is your division defending
super Bowl champs, a team that you know, maybe peked
before we thought they were going to in Washington. Maybe
they revert back, maybe not, but they're a contender now
and obviously Dallas is going to be a contender too.
That's the biggest thing working against them. So yeah, schedule
is brutal, but it's in part because of their division. Outside

(14:03):
of that, again, you're playing in the NFC. I think
there's some winnable games for them there.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
Their win total is five and a half according to DraftKings.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
So they're going to blow it out and that's a
great bet to over. That's a great that's a great
bet to take.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
All right, Well, well come on, Mark, it is it is.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
That sticks picks.

Speaker 7 (14:32):
Very macted morning him.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
Mary, I'm I'm so disappointed.

Speaker 7 (14:38):
He did it again, two for two and it's a
running bit.

Speaker 4 (14:43):
It's a running bit now. That's all.

Speaker 2 (14:46):

Speaker 2 (17:05):
Urban Meyer got a little bit of flat great segue. Well,
you know there's.

Speaker 4 (17:10):
There's great to go from that to Urban, but go ahead.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
There was there was some speculation that maybe he was,
you know, taking shots at Jim Harbaugh, saying he should
be suspended because of the Michigan sign stealing scandal, blah blah,
all that stuff. And so he was on the Herd
with Colin Cowherd and was asked about those comments. He
wanted to clarify those and then also get into a
discussion about Reggie Bush as well too. There was a

(17:34):
quote I saw that you said that, you know, maybe
Harbaugh should be suspended in the NFL, So clarify that.

Speaker 7 (17:40):
Where are you right now on Michigan Harbaugh? What transpired?

Speaker 6 (17:44):
Yeah, friend sent me that quote. I never said that.
That was a typical media guy saying that. No. I
on the podcast, we talked about the penalty and I
brought up I said, do you realize that when Jim
Trussell was fired from a house, he was suspended. I
want to say six games. He went on to be
suspended by the Indianapolis Colts. Now did I say that, Jim, No,

(18:09):
of course not. I didn't say that, and I actually
even said that, you know, I don't think it will.
But I threw that out there because that's a fact,
and it was made clear throughout the that the NFL
wanted to at least respect the decisions made by the NCAA.
So no, I neft answer the question. I never said that.
But that's typical someone's going to put something in the

(18:31):
headline here Callen and I are talking about that was
never said. Someone brought up the Reggie Bush thing. Did
that give USC a competitive advantage on the field? They
brought up Jim Trussel's situation. Did that give them a
competitive advantage on the field. No, of course not. Guys
are trading in memorabilia for tattoos. The thing that this
is this And I've heard people say, oh, come on,

(18:53):
what's the big deal. If it wasn't a big deal, Colin,
why would they risk their reputation or careers and thirty
million dollars fine for the university or for the Wolverines.
So I'll answer that question. It's a huge deal. If
the defensive players no runner pass, the amount of time
I would probably say at least thirty to forty hours

(19:14):
per week the defensive players are trying to figure out
from the stances of the offensive lineman, from the weight
on their fingertips, just figuring out from the stance of
the receivers is it runner pass? Is it that much
of an advantage? I can't overemphasize. Of course it is.

Speaker 4 (19:32):
So that's I agree. I agree.

Speaker 7 (19:35):
There's a number of things here.

Speaker 8 (19:37):
The first I would just say, just going back to
what he was asked about regards to his comments about harrorball, is.

Speaker 7 (19:45):
There has a precedent been said.

Speaker 8 (19:47):
It's actually really interesting that Jim Tressel was suspended after
that entire incident, which in retrospect, now you know one,
I think looping in Reggie Bush in that situation to
guys getting you know, free tattoos and some other stuff.
He I was going out Ohio State are two completely
different conversations. And guys who were like selling their own

(20:08):
memorabilia like that's more of an individual choice and all that.
When you're accepting money a home when other you know,
goods and so forth.

Speaker 7 (20:16):
Or things to go to a school. Yeah, that is
a competitive advantage.

Speaker 8 (20:21):
Like that's where I'd differ when he's making that comment
about all that, because if you think about it, like
if that's what got the player there in the first place, well,
then yeah, that's a big time competitive advantage on the field,
because if you didn't give the kid the money, or
didn't give the kid the house or whatever else went
along with that to the parents, then you're not gonna
be able to have the competitive advantage on the field

(20:43):
because he's not there.

Speaker 7 (20:44):
Like Reggie was my class. I remember recruiting Reggie.

Speaker 8 (20:48):
You know, he probably wouldn't admit it, but it was
down to Notre Dame in USC and he liked the
idea of playing for Tyrone Willingham. Probably the national exposure
would have gotten into you would still had a better
offer after the fact, starting to see what that offer was.
There's other guys who've talked to that you know, got
nice offers there too, So it kind of was what
it was. And I'm not going to go back and

(21:09):
condemn anyone for taking anything back in the day, but
to state that in an era where there wasn't anil, yeah,
it's a competitive advantage on the field because you were
able to get those players the otherwise wouldn't have been
able to get. In regards to the precedence set though,
between Roger Goodell the Colts in the NFL, it's an

(21:29):
interesting point to bring up because you know, we've seen
throughout really the start of the New millennium since Roger
Goodell's taking over, that the NFL was willing to set
precedents and they completely go back.

Speaker 7 (21:41):
On them later on.

Speaker 8 (21:42):
I mean, we went through the entire issue of you know,
how we were going to suspend players for domestic violence,
and a lot of that was born out of everything
that occurred with Ray Rice in that situation in Baltimore,
and a lot of the suspension punishment was given out
before the video went public, and once people saw the
video then it was like, oh, this is way worse
than anyone could have ever imagined. Now, if you read

(22:04):
about it, you would have known, but again, it's different
when it's in pictures and videos.

Speaker 7 (22:10):
So it's interesting that like this could apply.

Speaker 8 (22:14):
But the odd thing about it is, you know, Jim
Tressel was fired and then he was hired, and then that.

Speaker 7 (22:20):
Suspension went into place.

Speaker 8 (22:22):
It wasn't as much of a gap, like Jim Harble
starts coach for a year, So it seems kind of
odd that now the NFL is going to go back
because of what the NCAA has decided and what suspend
him for a course of this season. I mean he
already they self suspended him back when he was.

Speaker 7 (22:38):
In school, you know, back when he was there.

Speaker 8 (22:40):
That was what led to Sharon more taking over venture
as the head coach because the job he did throughout
that season. At the beginning of the season, when he
got his opportunity, they rotated who was going to be
the internhead coach, and then at the end of the
season that gigantic win over was a Penn State if
I'm not mistaken, Sorry LeVar.

Speaker 4 (22:57):
But sorry.

Speaker 7 (22:58):
That was his first time to help.

Speaker 8 (23:00):
Yeah, he talked to how proud he was, right, like
any may have said some choice words that don't usually
make a toll on the air, but uh, you know,
I look at it and just go, how's that gonna work? Like,
could you really actually implement a suspension for a guy
that you already had coaching in your league for a
year and you probably full well knew all what it
transpired or occurred during that period of time when he
was coaching at Michigan.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
I think the bigger question here is the national championship
because the one thing that when I said, I agree,
when he finished finished with his his his comment is, quote,
you do have a distinct advantage over the offense. If
you know, if it's a run or a pass, you
one hundred percent have a distinct That's why when you're

(23:43):
doing seven on sevens, it's it's it's way easier for
defenders to especially the extra defenders like the safeties and
the linebackers, to be able to cover better.

Speaker 7 (23:57):
But they want to we still wax your seven on
seven too.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
I don't know about that. I don't really know. I
don't really know about that. What I would say is
why flack, But it is a distinct advantage And when

(24:23):
and when you don't have to the less you have
to think about as a defender, the better you're going
to play and the better you're going to be because
you can play that much faster. So if they had
that type of competitive edge based off of the sign
stilling and that's proven, like if that you can really
prove that that that's what they were able to do,

(24:45):
I think The bigger question is not about suspensions of coaches.
It should be do they even acknowledge It's almost like
the national Championship should be vacated or it should be
a award it to you know another, I don't know
what you do, but that to me has to become

(25:06):
the overwhelming conversation point of this whole fiasco with Michigan.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
But when they when this all got discovered and you know,
Harball was suspended and Connor Stallions got popped, they went
on that run and still won every single game and
won the title. Like, so this is after it all
came out.

Speaker 4 (25:25):
Listen, I get that, well, I get that.

Speaker 8 (25:28):
Here's all I'll say to this is we've already we've
already had this conversation, Like we've talked about this and
I've said to you guys, this is Pandora's box, and
there's a there's a reason in my mind why they
went to the coach to coach communication because it eliminates
all this And you want to know why, because it
was so prevalent. Everyone wants to be upset at Michigan
because they got caught red handed, But they don't have

(25:51):
to look very far south to find someone else who
is doing it.

Speaker 7 (25:53):
They don't have to look across a lot of other
programs that were doing it. I know guys that do this.
I know coaches that have guys their staff that do that.
That's all they do. And and so here's the problem
with all of it is if you think.

Speaker 8 (26:08):
That these teams are naive and when they go in
versus Michigan and think they have their signals, they're changing
them already. That this whole thing has been so overblown
because a lot of the pre scouting they're talking about
it changes because they know they're doing it. And and
there's there's teams that have shared information because they know
those teams are doing it. They're trying to prepare for

(26:29):
someone else because they have buddies here and there. It
is such an interconnected network. You do not want to
open up this Pandora's box and go down the rabbit
hole of all the coaches and all the players, all
the people involved that have been either sign stealing pre scouting,
doing all of this to gain an advantage.

Speaker 7 (26:45):
And I'm telling you right now, if you if you
agree that big of an.

Speaker 8 (26:49):
Impact, if you think that's that big of an impact,
it's it's completely overstated.

Speaker 7 (26:54):
It really is.

Speaker 8 (26:55):
And that's by the way, we don't have to worry
about it anymore. We have coach to player helmet communication
both on offensive defense.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
Yeah, I think it does make a difference. I do
as a defender. I think it does make a difference
if you can call in to That's why you guys
still get that ass what you could come you could call.
I think you got an advantage and so and listen,
you guys are I mean, you're right, Jonas and and

(27:26):
Q you're right. I mean they they did win after
it all came out, they did continue to win. But
that's still to me, you know, I think the bigger
conversation has to be about what everything that took place
during that time period, how is that viewed? And the
national title falls into that that category, And in fact,

(27:49):
it's the most relevant of all the topics. If if
you ask me, because even if even if you say, okay,
if this is if this is is so egregious where
you and I know we're late, but if it's so
egregious where you actually are going to vacate a national title,
but okay, we're saying that it didn't happen when the

(28:12):
national title happened, Well, then now you got to have
the conversation about all the games they may have won
that led to them making it to the National Title game, right,
so if those games are vacated, then they don't even
make it correct.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific.

Speaker 2 (28:37):
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe, Fox Sports Radio,
LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here as
we hang out with you here on a football Friday,
and it's actually a football Friday, like we got NFL
preseason games, but we got college football games ready to

(28:58):
rock here, and we're not going to be dis missive
or disrespectful to the weak zero crowd, including a game
in Dublin. Does that bring up memories for you guys?
Every time you see the game in Dublin nowadays?

Speaker 8 (29:10):
Such good memories. I mean, I can't speak for all
of us, but I'll speak for three of us. I mean,
it was a tremendous trip, unforgettable trip. The hospitality, the culture,
the heritage, the history of everything there, you know, the
the Jamison againness tealing. Tealing, by the way, way better
than Jamison. Sorry if that sets some fans out there,

(29:32):
just letting people know facts. Enjoyed it all, enjoyed it all,
and the people there are just so awesome that to
hang with and talk to, get to know. It's just
an overall great experience. Yeah, it's amazing. It's amazing. Definitely
was glad he could speak for you.

Speaker 2 (29:50):
Guys. Here's what here's what else is amazing, all right?
When something's been gone for so long and then it
decides to return and what.

Speaker 4 (30:00):
Are you talking about? Your sex life? No, that's never
coming back.

Speaker 10 (30:09):
That that.

Speaker 2 (30:14):
Son of a bitch died a long time ago. My
wife didn't say I do, she said Riverside.

Speaker 11 (30:23):
All right, he's down, fine, man down what sex life?

Speaker 2 (30:32):
But uh, but we do have, uh, we do have
some good news for people out there on this football Friday.

Speaker 4 (30:39):
It's a return of this wh what let's go nice.

Speaker 8 (30:53):
Some people they don't respect weeks zero. This is the
start of the college football season, all right. The games
kick off this weekend.

Speaker 7 (31:00):
Jonas mentioned it the wonderful matchup in the Big twelve
Iowa State and Kansas State playing Viva Stadium in Dublin.
It probably should be named something else. Maybe I'm pronouncing
that wrong.

Speaker 4 (31:13):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (31:13):
You guys tell me this one though. It's been a
tight matchup, a fun matchup through the years.

Speaker 8 (31:20):
Iowa State that has gotten the better of Kansas State
in four of the last five matchups, including last year's
twenty nine to twenty one victory. And this is gonna
be a tight one. Iowa State is getting three points
and this time I see this whole game playing out.
You know, Matt Campbell, Chris Climbing, they're two of the
best coaches in college football, very steady programs.

Speaker 7 (31:43):
I'm gonna lean on though.

Speaker 8 (31:44):
Iowa State here, Rock Obeck has actually been the most
prolific over the past couple of seasons. Now, he did
lose Higgins and Noel, they were actually the most productive
duo of wide receivers in college football last year, however,
Carson Hanson the running back, he's back, very productive player,
and they went to the transfer portal that he got
to ECU transfer and Chase Sol. They went to UCF

(32:06):
as well to get Xavier Townsend. So they filled some
of the voids that were left behind to that degree.
We'll see if they can replace what Higgins and Noel
did last year on defense, though they got four returning starters,
it's really about coach Aykok, their defensive coordinator. Last five seasons,
they've held opponents under twenty three points per game. Pretty consistent,

(32:27):
pretty ridiculous. On the other side, you've got Kansas State,
led by their quarterback Avery Johnson. The real question is,
is this this season he breaks out. A lot of
people had him as a dark horse, potential Heisman candidate.
Remember this is who Kansas State picked instead of Will Howard,
who ultimately transferred and led the Buck Guys to a
national championship. So that's how much they think of av Johnson,
who's a true dual threat quarterback. And we'll see what

(32:49):
Matt Wells, who's taken now over as the sole offensive coordinator,
has in store.

Speaker 7 (32:53):
And I remember the name Dylan Edwards.

Speaker 8 (32:56):
Really productive back last year about seven over seven yards
per KIK for them. He was the Colorado transfer who
did a great job as a freshman transfer to k State.
Very productive. He's gonna get a bigger rule with Giddins
now moving on to the NFL. So I kind of
gave you a little hint of where I want to
go with this one. It's gonna be tight. So I
like Iowa State. I'll take the three points. And I

(33:17):
also think this game hits the over. That might be
because the last time we were there we saw an
absolute blowout, which we Notre Dame be blown out in Navy.
I just feel like that stadium's born to see some action,
see some points. They really just missed LeVar if they
want to see a little more action. But that's how
I've got this game going to kickoff. Quinn's wins twenty
twenty five. Iowa State plus three, you take the points,

(33:40):
might even outright win it the way the last four
to last five gone and the over of fifteen and
a half. Next matchup, we had the Lawrence, Kansas. They're
kicking off the new stadium there in Lawrence. It looks phenomenal.
So congrats to the Jayhawks, a four hundred and fifty
million dollar renovation in their stadium. It feels like homecoming,
Lance Leipold said, and heading into this game, and look,

(34:03):
last year was a step back for them. You know,
Kaans went five and seven. Jaylen Daniels missed a little
bit of time. He's missed some time over the past,
you know, a couple of seasons. But he's back as
their starting quarterback. He's one of the best in college
football if he's healthy. It's a the field's you know,
slanted very much so in their favor. I will be
curious to see, though, with the added pressure of you know,

(34:23):
five and seven last year, if they don't figure out
a way of climbing back up to one of the
top teams in the Big Twelve. You could see some
some rumors as people maybe maybe they want to move
on and go in a different direction. But Kansas taken
on Fresno State. A bunch of changes at Fresno State,
new head coach and Matt Enz He's coming from North
Dakota State. We know how successful that program is at

(34:45):
that level. However, different jump here. They do bring in
a transfer quarterback and name there should be very familiar
to a lot of folks out there.

Speaker 2 (34:53):
E J.

Speaker 8 (34:54):
Warner, Yes Warner, as in the son of Hall of
Fame quarterback Kurt Warner. He transferred from Temple to Rice,
now Rice to Kansas State or excuse me two Fresno State,
and he actually won a three quarterback battle for the
starting job.

Speaker 7 (35:08):
Now the concern here is a lot of hype. Kansas
returns a good number of players on defense, and you've got,
you know, a new stadium everything around this. It's gonna
be a tough environment him to play. He struggled with
turnovers in the past. Can he clean that up? I
don't know. But that line's at thirteen and a half
right now.

Speaker 8 (35:26):
It's a little too big for an opening game of
the season for me, So I'm gonna stay away from
the spread. But I like the over of fifteen and
a half. With the healthy Jalen Daniels, this Kansas team
can score and I do think Matt Enz two will
be able to get some points out of his team
as well with EJ.

Speaker 7 (35:43):
Warner at quarterbacks.

Speaker 8 (35:44):
So there's the three picks so far for Quinn's wins
in this first edition of Troy twenty five.

Speaker 4 (35:49):
So I'm talking about nice.

Speaker 2 (35:51):
So what I'm talking about And best part is, you
know if those don't go well, you got those Rainbow
Warriors in the main event against States.

Speaker 8 (35:59):
Well, yeah, the Rainbow Warriors Tim Chang by the way,
odd fact, if Jalen Daniels gets hurt in this game.
The backup it's like NFL ties all the way around
on this one. Uh is Chris Ballard, the general manager
for the amapsis Colts his son. Remember he was in
the scouting apartment with Kansas City. His son actually has
gone all the way from a walk on a third

(36:20):
string into winning the backup battle at Kansas.

Speaker 7 (36:24):
So kind of need a little story too.

Speaker 8 (36:25):
And in the event that Jayleen Daniels gets hurt in
this game or any game this season, which obviously he's
experienced injuries, Ballard's Chris Ballard's son, it's gonna be backing
him up.

Speaker 4 (36:36):
There we go, here we go.

Speaker 2 (36:38):
By the way, bars, your son getting nervous for a
week one?

Speaker 4 (36:43):
Why are you get nervous?

Speaker 2 (36:45):
You know, big time, big stage, big shoes to fill,
big shoes to fill.

Speaker 4 (36:50):
Yeah, I mean he wears a size thirteen. Feels him
pretty good. Yeah, he's not fine.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
Are you more nervous than him?

Speaker 10 (36:59):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (37:00):
Uh, I don't know. I'm excited.

Speaker 3 (37:04):
I mean you got to keep in mind, my daughter
is going to be chairing, so I when I come
out onto the field, I get to see the pregame
like hype and festivities with like blue band. I really
love my blue band. You know, I don't think they
get enough recognition or you know, exposure, so I like
bringing them up. But blue band is the bomb, so

(37:27):
I like, I like all of it, man, and I
have a good time with it. But I'm going to
get to see my daughter and in the uniform on
the field for the first time, which is who the
Hell's blue band? Our blue band? You know you're a band,
marching band. Yes, that's what they call blue band, the
blue band. Who the Penn State Blue Band? Yeah, we

(37:52):
could keep saying it too, because you can't. We just
can't even say it enough. I mean, the job that
those guys do, it's amazing, you know, they do an
amazing job. Every school that has a band that sets
a tone, which Notre Dame had a very cool band.
You guys set a tone for what you guys do
with your band. I love an amazing marching band, like

(38:15):
that's just Ohio State's even though I hate to admit it.
I mean they're freaking phenomenal. I mean they're phenomenal, that's
what they say. I mean they set a tone. I
tell you that they set a tone. So I'm a
big proponent of the music aspect of the games and
Blue Band.

Speaker 4 (38:33):
That's my mob. I rock with them. I love them.
They're my people. They know it.

Speaker 2 (38:38):
I spend time with them before every game. I hype
them up, like when when everything is getting going, like
when they got to get in to step into to
motion right before the drum major goes to the center
of the field and does it split and then comes
back and does it in the end zone.

Speaker 3 (38:54):
I get them hype. I'm the hype man. So I
don't know about my kids being ther I'm sure they're
going to be nervous. I mean, it's been their dream
to be on that field to the capacity that they're
going to be on it next Saturday, So I'm sure
they'll have nerves. But I'm just excited to see them.
I don't think i'll be nervous. I think I'll be

(39:15):
really really loubed up, really well. I'll be feeling really
really good, and I'm going to be super excited to
see the twins fulfill their dreams.

Speaker 2 (39:24):
Right there, that's a great father advice. You get all
looped up and you go out your parent. Yeah, yeah,
you know, look at the benefits of it. Trish Will
be there to experience it and watch it. Penn will
be there at Penn State. You know, Penn Penn Errington
at Penn State. Like he's going to be wonderful.

Speaker 7 (39:42):
So yeah, you guys are going to do the tailgate
and then roll right in.

Speaker 4 (39:48):
I will tell.

Speaker 3 (39:51):
I will be with my men, Scott Walker at the
Spike Stadium and we will be getting it in and
I will say this, I'll probably be walking around with
uh a minie cake on my back.

Speaker 4 (40:04):
That's stick City Wheat citrus ale.

Speaker 3 (40:08):
Man, it must be nice and you'll be able to
conveniently locate a Stick City Citrus l.

Speaker 4 (40:14):
In side of the stadium.

Speaker 2 (40:16):
By the way, Hey, by the way, did Notre Dame
change their logo because I'm trying because there's some people
that are upset that there it was them holding out
there like people didn't like the fact that they were
holding out. You were holding out your fists and the
logo and then the lew the d I was actually
I saw the story.

Speaker 8 (40:38):
They were actually trying to basically say that lepre cons
are very upset about this, and so there they're gonna
be protests, They're gonna they're blaming.

Speaker 4 (40:45):
Trump and there's a real group of people that are
leper cons.

Speaker 7 (40:50):
I'm just telling you what I read. It could have
been a spoof story. You know, there's some of those
that I get fooled by.

Speaker 2 (40:54):
I'm saying, but there's a group of people that are
called leper couns. Yeah, no more fists. Now he's just
carrying a football.

Speaker 8 (41:01):
Yeah, it's actually it's a football specific logo. So that's
kind of the biggest changes.

Speaker 3 (41:07):
Like why can't why can't the little man hold out
his fist? Y'all coming to beat some egg?

Speaker 2 (41:13):
It's awesome too, Why can't he come like that's the
old school fist like they're they're turned backwards.

Speaker 4 (41:18):
They're not like, you know, cocked like a like you know, new.

Speaker 7 (41:22):
School exact put put.

Speaker 4 (41:27):
Come on there, like come on, man.

Speaker 7 (41:30):
Yeah, I don't know. I'm just joking, obviously, I don't.
I don't think anyone was really offended by it.

Speaker 8 (41:34):
But I mean I'm sure Jodas found someone on the
internet or social media who's offended.

Speaker 4 (41:38):
Ye, well, he's a big fan base.

Speaker 7 (41:41):
Well, no, everyone's offended by everything, So I'm not surprised
that if there was somebody who took offense somehow to
the Notre Dame, you know mascot and uh, you know
logo that's been there for god knows how long. But
the new one school and the one's very cool.

Speaker 8 (41:57):
It's a Lepton holding a football kind of running almost
like the Notre Name Heisman version with the leprechaun kind of.

Speaker 7 (42:05):
But here's what it comes down to. Do you know
how much merch they're gonna sell? What that new look?

Speaker 2 (42:10):
Oh yeah, they're.

Speaker 7 (42:12):
Gonna make so much money.

Speaker 2 (42:13):
It's like a jersey number change, Like it's gonna makes
so much money. I think it's better than the old one.

Speaker 8 (42:19):
I'll be honest with you, Like I would actually be
curious to send it to me if they ever did
change from under Armour to Adidas, or if they could
figure out, no, they get paid so.

Speaker 4 (42:33):
Much from under armed Oh I know I was, but
that was still going on.

Speaker 8 (42:38):
What would be interesting is, well, they just redid it,
but if if they could find a way to go
to a different apparel provider, if they would see a
spike in sales purely from people wanting to have that
newer brand whatever it is, whether it's you know, Nike
or Jordan Brand or Adidas. To go back to that,
it would I'd be interesting to see if that was
the case. I've been lobbing for a champion. I think

(43:00):
we go back to Champion jersey. Oh yeah, how sweet
would that be?

Speaker 3 (43:04):
That would be sweet that ke go Nike cleats and
Champion jerseys or like, you know, Champion cleets too.

Speaker 7 (43:13):
Well, yeah, I don't think we need to go that direct.

Speaker 4 (43:16):
I'll be blowing out ankles.

Speaker 2 (43:18):
Damn.

Speaker 3 (43:20):
Hey, Champion jersey for Notre Day would be fire. Hey,
gonna lie, you get it exclusive? You might even get
in on that one. Give me a seventeen jersey for certain.

Speaker 2 (43:30):
You get them exclusively in East Bay Magazine.

Speaker 4 (43:33):
Well, dude, they don't have that anymore, do they. I
don't know, Probably not.

Speaker 3 (43:36):
I don't think they do. But that, I mean, that's
definitely what it used to be about, jumping that East base.

Speaker 2 (43:42):
So I just sent you the logo, the new Notre
Dame logo. Levart's a little bit different than the link
you sent with.

Speaker 4 (43:47):
Let me see what you.

Speaker 7 (43:50):
Although.

Speaker 4 (43:51):
Something crazy.

Speaker 7 (43:52):
It looks like the way he's running he's trying to
imitate the Notre Dame.

Speaker 4 (43:56):
Yeah, definitely looks like he's almost.

Speaker 7 (44:02):
Maybe that's what he was doing. Maybe he was like
maybe a little nas is a big Notre Dame fan.

Speaker 2 (44:05):
He's got a little bit more son than the Notre.

Speaker 4 (44:07):
Dame logo though.

Speaker 3 (44:08):
I mean that Notre Dame logo is a little pale.
So how do you guys do a different color leper
Kahn moving forward? If this is how pale your your
logo is, how does that work? Oh, we don't discriminate.
Anyone could be a leprechaun, I know, but this leper
Con in particular looks.

Speaker 8 (44:28):
Oh you're saying people are gonna be offended by the
fact that he looks white in this one.

Speaker 3 (44:32):
I mean, it's possible that people could have an issue
with it. I'm sure there will be different versions, you
know that come out. It's like Home Depot and Low's.
You know, you go pick up your Santa Claus. There's
not just one these multiple colors.

Speaker 2 (44:46):
Can I ask you a question?

Speaker 7 (44:47):
What's wrong with being white? You know what I mean?
Like Lee, so the mascot white?

Speaker 2 (44:55):
I mean, what's wrong with that?

Speaker 7 (44:57):
Yeah? I mean, are you telling me, LeVar that if
you're little knos run around our underwear like, people wouldn't
condemn us. I mean it feels like they're just saying Oh,
it's just a drug overdose. No big deal. What understand?

Speaker 4 (45:09):
What's your problem? LaVar? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (45:10):
LeVar, Hey man, why can't we run around underwear? Why
can't we do that if we want to?

Speaker 2 (45:17):
Twenty twenty five, the new skin, the new sin, that's
your skin. Or wait wait, the new skin that's your
sin is white. Yeah, there you go, twenty twenty five,
the new skin, sin is white.

Speaker 4 (45:32):
There you go. I don't know. I don't know what
to tell you, guys, but.

Speaker 2 (45:38):
You have to.

Speaker 4 (45:38):
You have to deal with it. It's LaVar. I just
want to tell you this.

Speaker 2 (45:41):
I appreciate that you overlook that to do the show
with us.

Speaker 4 (45:45):
You know, it's a challenge. You know, you have to
figure this out every single day. I have to get
