So we got an awesome defense, and then we would
just beat everybody in the history of the league by

But neither quarterback did, neither offense did. And these are
like short weeks, familiar opponents' division rivals. This always kind
of works out that way. You're gonna have bad games,
and this was one.

Offensively, Denver found a way to win.

I kind of look at this team as like I'm
not saying a team of destiny dre, I say.

I'm like, as somebody, as somebody who grew up as
somebody who grew up a Bears fan. I was watching
that game last night, going, huh, I've seen that before.
I know exactly what that feels like, dominating defense and.

You're talking you're too young for for Mike and all, Yeah,
no it was.

But there was a year I can remember them. I
can remember early years being a Bears fan. There was
a year they had more rushing yards than passing yards
in a season. I remember that being talked about on TV,

just here for the rat guys, you know, and.

So is Denver. I tell you what, back to my
original point.

If you know how to win these ugly, ugly games,
because it was an ugly game, you got that right.
Bronco's baby, and in spite of poor quarterback play, in
spite of limited offense production, and that's putting it lightly
limited offensive production. This is a team that all they

have to do is stick to the script because again,
like Sean Payton mentioned in the interviews that he's done,
they're learning how to win games no matter what the
odds and circumstances are. And they've been very, very extreme
on the other side of they should like you met
you highlighted it yesterday, Q.

There were games. There's plenty of games that.

You could look at and be like, they should have
lost that game, they should lost it, but they didn't.
They didn't lose it. And now they're doing it consistently.
And while I'll agree with Sean Payton, get to a
point of where you don't have to win that way,
get to a point of where you're starting to win
and it doesn't have to come down to the wire,
doesn't have to be so close. But nonetheless, getting that

type of experience as a team I can only imagine
builds a tremendous amount of confidence and belief in one another.

Like when do you ever feel like you're out of
a game? Never? So I think it's interesting to see
a team like this.

While I'm not ready to crown them as like the team,
you got to give Sean Payton a whole lot of
credit because systems tend to struggle a little bit more
and generally don't have the type of success that you
had that you were able to create at other places.

And while Sean Payton doesn't have a Drew Breese on
his hands, he's he's finding ways to win and and
you got to give him and his coaching staff a
lot of credit for that.

Okay, is it Sean Payton or Vance Joseph that deserves
some love because the head coach coach?

Because here here's why I say that.

Andrew Whitworth brought up this point that I think people
forget about. Remember, I think it was last year when
the Dolphins scored seventy points on the second defense, And it.

Was last year, two years ago.

Two years ago might have been to m you look
at where this team's at now. Their defense is made.
I think it's the best defense in the league. Like
Gino Smith had no time, He had no time the
entire night and he ended.

gonna we're gonna wrap this up, you know, and give
me that doggie bag, give me the to go bag,
like we're gonna leave.

Sean Payton did talk afterwards about getting to eight wins
the first team in the league.

You comfortable with the script of just kind of how
these games?

We're never satisfied.

If my answer were to you, I'm comfortable, that'd be silly, right,
So obviously, we.

We got to clean up the penalties. We had to
clean up some of the execution, and and that is
an ongoing thing that probably never ends. There's you know,
you you search for that shangri la right now. You know,
we're team sitting at eight wins. I think we're the
only team sitting there. So and yet we're constantly looking
internally starting you know, but that was it was a

tough night offensively obviously, and and uh, you know, and
I give them credit, you know they did they did
some things differently that we hadn't seen. And you know,
you start looking at your call sheet with your sub plan,
and so we'll look at that tape and we'll learn
from it.

Do you think guys on offense are afraid to look
defensive players in the eyes after a game like that?
Speaker 8 (11:05):
Like, no, no, man, you win, that's all that matters.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
You win, you make correct the mistakes, you move on.
Speaker 7 (11:13):
Man, Can I give y'all a quick reminder?
Speaker 5 (11:15):

Yeah, the Raiders stank?

Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.

You you you pulled out. You pulled it out against
a funky team. That team stinks and I know they
have familiarity. I know it's a divisional opponent, a divisional rival,
but they stink. Like this team is bad. They're bad.

They're bad, not the Bears. They're bad. That's what I'm
going Let's just keep that in mind, Like, let's keep
it in a proper perspective. They didn't pull out a
ten to seven win over the Chiefs, you know what
I mean, Like, they didn't do that over the Charger,
even though they did beat the Chargers.

They did beat the Chargers right on the vision I
think in the division.
Speaker 8 (12:08):
Yeah, I mean, they're number one in the division and
the Chiefs are number three. Can you imagine we live
in a world right now where Patrick Mahomes and Andy
Reid are third in their division? That is crazy matter.
But with that being said, let's keep it in whoa
they coming for it?
Speaker 2 (12:25):
Yeah, I mean the Chargers they're coming for Chargers are
too banged up, Like they'll make a run.
Speaker 6 (12:30):
Chargers are too banged up. They can't. Joe also out
for the year.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
It's like every game the Chargers lose a key piece,
either on the offensive line or elsewhere. It just it's
every year, every year this happens with them.
Speaker 8 (12:40):
So you know, they got to figure it out before
before it gets too late in the season. Like, it's
great to be able to win this way. It's great
to have that confidence. But ten to seven, like, is
that sustainable? Like, to me, that's the question. If I'm
Sean Payton, the question I'm asking myself is how sustainable
is the way we're winning?

Is that sustainable? I don't know.

Yeah, but they have one shootouts too. I mean this
this is just one again, short week divisional opponent. Like
they found a way to get it done. I just
I'm not gonna read too much into it, you know,
I think when you have a poor offensive performance, you
look back through some of their other offensive performances and
you say, the offense, you know, hasn't always been the issue.

Maybe slow starts.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
You know, they've been a fourth quarter team, second half team,
and that's something you want to address. You'd like to
just kick someone's teeth in right away and not have
to worry about it. But that's the NFL, like it's
it's not gonna work out that way. So again, I'm
I'm more impressed with their ability to find ways to
you know, to find resolve and win football games. It's

hard to do in the NFL. I don't care who
they're playing against. I don't care if it's the Jets,
I don't care if it's name your whoever you feel
like is the worst team in the NFL. Win's a win, man,
Win's a win, And I'll take that any day of
the week if I'm Denver. And we'll see how it
stacks up with the end of the year.

So you played obviously with the Broncos, Brady, and I'm
a weather geek, and al Michaels was pointing out that
the wind.

Was I played with the Broncos before.

Because I mean, if you played there, This is what
I'm wondering. So I'm trying to find, you know, some
sort of a logical explanation as to why they struggled
the way they did. Obviously, special teams weren't great really
on either side, especially for readers. Well, the winds were swirling.
It looked like it was the first touch of fall
weather in Denver. So did that have any impact and

does that have any impact on an offensive formance? And
is that any reason as to why maybe last year
the win?

Of course it could.

I mean, I don't know that it played that big
of a role last night, but it definitely plays a.

Bit of a role in the passing game, kicking game.

You know, the different stadiums that that's not one that
I felt like was overly difficult because of the structure
of it. You go, like Cleveland to me was a
tougher one. If the wind got you know, you know,
whipping around in Kansas City. That was tough because it
was again more of a bowl, and so you kind
of had to understand if you're throwing into the end

zone out of the end zone, which direction, and like,
you know, that was that was more of an issue
with that.

It just depends. The hardest stadiums are.

The ones to me that that are bowls only because
you've got multiple ways in which you've got to change
how you're kicking or throwing. Whereas if it's if it's
like a Cleveland for example, was really only one way,

Direction that you had to worry about. You're either with

The most part, and that kind of dictated how things went.
So I just I look at it and say, I

Anyway, we found some trends though, unders over unders. We've
hit on one last week in the Georgia game.

This week it's Kentucky hosting Florida. Two good defenses in
the SEC, but also too good a bad offenses, and
this has been more of a trend for Kentucky of late.
You recall took Texas into overtime, took him to the ropes.
This over under said forty five and a half. Florida's
riddle with injuries. This always kind of feels like that

Mark Stoops late in the year gets a good win
at home over someone they probably shouldn't beat. In this case,
I believe Kentucky is a three and a half point
three point dogs somewhere in that vicinity, but I like
the under better than anything else here to start off,
Today's Quinns wins. Next up, and you'll see a trend
here too, A lot of dogs, all right, it's a
dog even pick Ucla hosting Nebraska. Now, Nebraska just lost

Dylan Royola for the remainder of the season.

But Nebraska showed me something.

teams in college football. Mark Gronowski their quarterback. He's been phenomenal.

a good job running the football, arguably his best game
last week in that Duke loss.

But there was a year I can remember them. I
can remember early years being a Bears fan. There was

So is Denver. I tell you what, back to my
original point.

If you know how to win these ugly, ugly games,
because it was an ugly game, you got that right.
Bronco's baby, and in spite of poor quarterback play, in
spite of limited offense production, and that's putting it lightly
limited offensive production. This is a team that all they

have to do is stick to the script because again,
like Sean Payton mentioned in the interviews that he's done,
they're learning how to win games no matter what the
odds and circumstances are. And they've been very, very extreme
on the other side of they should like you met
you highlighted it yesterday, Q.

There were games. There's plenty of games that.
Speaker 8 (07:57):
You could look at and be like, they should have
lost that game, they should lost it, but they didn't.
They didn't lose it. And now they're doing it consistently.
And while I'll agree with Sean Payton, get to a
point of where you don't have to win that way,
get to a point of where you're starting to win
and it doesn't have to come down to the wire,
doesn't have to be so close. But nonetheless, getting that

type of experience as a team I can only imagine
builds a tremendous amount of confidence and belief in one another.

Like when do you ever feel like you're out of
a game? Never? So I think it's interesting to see
a team like this.
Speaker 8 (08:34):
While I'm not ready to crown them as like the team,
you got to give Sean Payton a whole lot of
credit because systems tend to struggle a little bit more
and generally don't have the type of success that you
had that you were able to create at other places.

And while Sean Payton doesn't have a Drew Breese on
his hands, he's he's finding ways to win and and
you got to give him and his coaching staff a
lot of credit for that.

Okay, is it Sean Payton or Vance Joseph that deserves
some love because the head coach coach?
Speaker 6 (09:13):
Because here here's why I say that.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Andrew Whitworth brought up this point that I think people
forget about. Remember, I think it was last year when
the Dolphins scored seventy points on the second defense, And it.
Speaker 5 (09:24):
Was last year, two years ago.

Two years ago might have been to m you look
at where this team's at now. Their defense is made.
I think it's the best defense in the league. Like
Gino Smith had no time, He had no time the
entire night and he ended.

Up sitting down, yeah the night, like we're going we're
gonna we're gonna wrap this up, you know, and give
me that doggie bag, give me the to go bag,
like we're gonna leave.

Sean Payton did talk afterwards about getting to eight wins
the first team in the league.

If my answer were to you, I'm comfortable, that'd be silly, right,

We got to clean up the penalties. We had to
clean up some of the execution, and and that is
an ongoing thing that probably never ends. There's you know,
you you search for that shangri la right now. You know,
we're team sitting at eight wins. I think we're the
only team sitting there. So and yet we're constantly looking
internally starting you know, but that was it was a

tough night offensively obviously, and and uh, you know, and
I give them credit, you know they did they did
some things differently that we hadn't seen. And you know,
you start looking at your call sheet with your sub plan,
and so we'll look at that tape and we'll learn
from it.

Do you think guys on offense are afraid to look
defensive players in the eyes after a game like that?
Speaker 8 (11:05):
Like, no, no, man, you win, that's all that matters.

You win, you make correct the mistakes, you move on.

Man, Can I give y'all a quick reminder?

You you you pulled out. You pulled it out against
a funky team. That team stinks and I know they
have familiarity. I know it's a divisional opponent, a divisional rival,
but they stink. Like this team is bad. They're bad.

They're bad, not the Bears. They're bad. That's what I'm
going Let's just keep that in mind, Like, let's keep
it in a proper perspective. They didn't pull out a
ten to seven win over the Chiefs, you know what
I mean, Like, they didn't do that over the Charger,
even though they did beat the Chargers.

They did beat the Chargers right on the vision I
think in the division.
Speaker 8 (12:08):
Yeah, I mean, they're number one in the division and
the Chiefs are number three. Can you imagine we live
in a world right now where Patrick Mahomes and Andy
Reid are third in their division? That is crazy matter.
But with that being said, let's keep it in whoa
they coming for it?

Yeah, I mean the Chargers they're coming for Chargers are
too banged up, Like they'll make a run.
Speaker 6 (12:30):
Chargers are too banged up. They can't. Joe also out
for the year.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
It's like every game the Chargers lose a key piece,
either on the offensive line or elsewhere. It just it's
every year, every year this happens with them.
Speaker 8 (12:40):
So you know, they got to figure it out before
before it gets too late in the season. Like, it's
great to be able to win this way. It's great
to have that confidence. But ten to seven, like, is
that sustainable? Like, to me, that's the question. If I'm
Sean Payton, the question I'm asking myself is how sustainable
is the way we're winning?

Is that sustainable? I don't know.

Yeah, but they have one shootouts too. I mean this
this is just one again, short week divisional opponent. Like
they found a way to get it done. I just
I'm not gonna read too much into it, you know,
I think when you have a poor offensive performance, you
look back through some of their other offensive performances and
you say, the offense, you know, hasn't always been the issue.

Maybe slow starts.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
You know, they've been a fourth quarter team, second half team,
and that's something you want to address. You'd like to
just kick someone's teeth in right away and not have
to worry about it. But that's the NFL, like it's
it's not gonna work out that way. So again, I'm
I'm more impressed with their ability to find ways to
you know, to find resolve and win football games. It's

hard to do in the NFL. I don't care who
they're playing against. I don't care if it's the Jets,
I don't care if it's name your whoever you feel
like is the worst team in the NFL. Win's a win, man,
Win's a win, And I'll take that any day of
the week if I'm Denver. And we'll see how it
stacks up with the end of the year.

a weather geek, and al Michaels was pointing out that

sort of a logical explanation as to why they struggled
the way they did. Obviously, special teams weren't great really
on either side, especially for readers. Well, the winds were swirling.
It looked like it was the first touch of fall
weather in Denver. So did that have any impact and

does that have any impact on an offensive formance? And
is that any reason as to why maybe last year
the win?

Of course it could.

I mean, I don't know that it played that big
of a role last night, but it definitely plays a.

Bit of a role in the passing game, kicking game.

You know, the different stadiums that that's not one that
I felt like was overly difficult because of the structure
of it. You go, like Cleveland to me was a
tougher one. If the wind got you know, you know,
whipping around in Kansas City. That was tough because it
was again more of a bowl, and so you kind
of had to understand if you're throwing into the end

zone out of the end zone, which direction, and like,
you know, that was that was more of an issue
with that.

It just depends. The hardest stadiums are.

The ones to me that that are bowls only because
you've got multiple ways in which you've got to change
how you're kicking or throwing. Whereas if it's if it's
like a Cleveland for example, was really only one way,

Direction that you had to worry about. You're either with
or against for.

The most part, and that kind of dictated how things went.
So I just I look at it and say, I
don't think when was as big of a factor last night.

Anyway, we found some trends though, unders over unders. We've
hit on one last week in the Georgia game.

This week it's Kentucky hosting Florida. Two good defenses in
the SEC, but also too good a bad offenses, and
this has been more of a trend for Kentucky of late.
You recall took Texas into overtime, took him to the ropes.
This over under said forty five and a half. Florida's
riddle with injuries. This always kind of feels like that

Mark Stoops late in the year gets a good win
at home over someone they probably shouldn't beat. In this case,
I believe Kentucky is a three and a half point
three point dogs somewhere in that vicinity, but I like
the under better than anything else here to start off,
Today's Quinns wins. Next up, and you'll see a trend
here too, A lot of dogs, all right, it's a
dog even pick Ucla hosting Nebraska. Now, Nebraska just lost

Dylan Royola for the remainder of the season.

But Nebraska showed me something.

Matt Rules building a program there in Nebraska. The way
he's got the defense playing, they can run the rocket
a little bit. Latif will take over at quarterback, more
of a mobile quarterback. The offense will look a little
bit different, which is one of the reasons why I
feel like they ended up giving up that game to
Southern cal mostly because, I mean, Ryley is one of
more prolific passers. Latif is a little better balancing things

out with his legs. So I think they're one and
a half on the road at UCLA. I'll gladly take
the point half, not sure they necessarily need it. Jonas
keep me honest too, with somebody spreads. I know they
tend to change in the last twelve hours from when I.

Next up here in Iowa City, a big one in
the Big Ten, the Hawkeyes hosting the Oregon Ducks. Oregon
kind of hitting them the teeth of their schedule now
coming to an Iowa Hawkeye team is one of the
better defenses in college football, one of the better rushing
teams in college football. Mark Gronowski their quarterback. He's been phenomenal.

I think he's got eleven rushing touchdowns of the season.
That's more than Baylor. That's more than North Carolina rushing
the football. It's more than South Carolina rushing the football,
so they can get after him.

And Oregon's weakness it's been the running game.

If you looked at their lost Indiana for example, got
dominated physically there, Northwestern, even Penn State. I thought both
those teams had a better job and holding the line
of scrimmage versus them, even though Oregan.

I like Iowa getting six and a half at home.

LSU headed down to Tuscaloosa, a tee town, to take
on Bama. Bama's laying nine and a half at least
last time I checked, I'd normally say this line's too big.
I'm just not sure where this LSU team is. I
think it's a bad matchup for LSU.

They're on the road, they can't run the football. They
have a hard time stopping the run. It just gives
me the feels that Bama's gonna run all over him.
At this point, LSU has got a lot of players
who are probably looking on to next year's draft at
this point. Next up, West Virginia hosting Colorado. Juju lewis
the highly touted freshman. We'll get his first start on

the road. Taken on Juju, He's taken on one of
the more high pressure defenses in college football. Zach Ally,
the defensive cooridating blitz is over fifty percent of the time,
so tough sledding. West Virginia come off a huge win
versus Houston last week the Land six and a half
last time I checked. We're gonna lay the six and
a half points here with the Mountaineers. And then finally

Clemson land two and a half at home versus Florida State. Look,
I'm still a believer in this Clemson team. I'm not
gonna give up. I know it's a tough loss last
week versus Duke. I think they rebound here. And it
tells you, by the way, where Duke is compared to
Florida State in my mind. But Adam Randall has done
a good job running the football, arguably his best game
last week in that Duke loss.

getting kind of a different feel for maybe how the

over Under. They could just blow up on a team
and drop fifty on you. But they also could play
a low scoring game like Iowa, where they had to,

So it's it's tough. Like they're a tough team to
predict outside of at home. I feel pretty good about
their ability to cover. Some of these spreads are huge.
