Speaker 5 (00:53):
Toka? Al?
Speaker 8 (00:55):
Oh, hopefully that's not foreshadowing h football game.
Speaker 6 (01:00):
Yeah, they may have different results.
Speaker 4 (01:06):
And you were there, went to the game.
Speaker 7 (01:10):
For you were were you barefoot on the court.
Speaker 6 (01:14):
I did no silent protest of playing my daughter more.
I'm not that type of a dad where I'd do
it every game, just every so often. Last night was
not one of those times.
Speaker 7 (01:28):
It's not one of those nights.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
Hey, By the way, uh, we're coming on.
Speaker 8 (01:31):
By the way, well they're getting beat that bad where
you're like, all right, this isn't time for protesting.
Speaker 5 (01:39):
This is just an ass kicking. No, it was competitive.
It was competitive.
Speaker 9 (01:44):
Yea.
Speaker 5 (01:44):
It competitive.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
By the way, we're coming up on the time of year.
You can wear those Grinch Jordan's or whatever.
Speaker 6 (01:49):
They are, the Adidas there Adidas, Why I sound like
the Is that why you said that?
Speaker 4 (01:55):
No, I'm saying no because you have Grinch.
Speaker 5 (01:58):
I'm not offended. I'm not I do have Grinch shoes.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Yeah, it's just Christmas is coming up.
Speaker 6 (02:04):
Well, we haven't gotten through Thanksgiving yet. Am I supposed
to wear my Grinches?
Speaker 10 (02:07):
No?
Speaker 4 (02:07):
Just let me know. Because it's green. You're an Oregon like,
you know, maybe he's not a point. Maybe it's you know,
green organ grinch like you guys not the.
Speaker 5 (02:16):
Same type of green. Wow, you know.
Speaker 6 (02:19):
And then on top of that, yeah, I just I'm
gonna leave that one alone.
Speaker 5 (02:26):
I had something I was going to say.
Speaker 7 (02:27):
I could see you being like the Grinch though, I
could see that.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
You're a mean one, mister vos Errington.
Speaker 5 (02:38):
You really your kids really make me sick.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
You're really gonna do this?
Speaker 5 (02:47):
Yeah, that's a messed up man.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
Whatever it is, Two pros and a cup of Joe
here on Fox Sports Radio Labar, Let's go far. Jonas
knocks with you, by the way, brought to you by
the Home Depot. Get tools to perform at the highest
level on every job without compromise when the shop. When
the shop calls, Makda at the home Depot, when the
job calls for the best calling, Makida built to be
the best available at the home Depot. How pros get
(03:10):
more done? So we started doing this a couple of
weeks ago where we would pick and choose different quotes
from coaches in the NFL, college football wherever throughout the
past several days, and we would try and decipher. We
would first play it for you and then try and
tell you what they're really trying to say. Patrick SWEEKA
has gone through and he's combed through a from coaches
(03:34):
in the NFL and college football throughout the past past
several days. Here and so, Patty, what are we looking at?
Do we have any any theme music we can throw
on under the pop?
Speaker 11 (03:46):
Okay, well, well, well it is time to play coach
speak everybody. Well, the coaches speak, you guys speak, but
your guys' answers is what I seek.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
It's time to play, all right before, thank you, thank you?
Speaker 11 (04:02):
All right, guys, So we got I got five of us,
five coaches to hear from today. Let's go with our
first one. So we have mister Dan Campbell, uh speaking
a couple of days ago. He wish he was making
some better calls. You know what, Lorenna, can you play
mister Campbell.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
For us please?
Speaker 12 (04:18):
Offensively? You know, three or thirteen on third down and
five on fourth down. You know, we just we could
not convert, you know, and when you can't convert, that
makes it very difficult. You know, I felt like we
can get a rhythm after that second quarter we started,
you know, we hit those explosives, went down, j Mos
scores touchdown, you know, and it felt like, all right,
here we go. Just couldn't ever really get in a
(04:41):
rhythm offensively. You know, there's I mean, there's there's some
calls I wish I could have gotten back. You know,
I didn't help those guys.
Speaker 11 (04:49):
I hate that, all right, And going first here we
got mister Jonas Knox. You got to go first with
what do you Let's go Jonas.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
I hate punters and I hate kickers. I will continue
to go forward on fourth down. I know the results
didn't speak well to my ability as a play caller
as head coach, but I'm gonna just have to take
the good with the bad. I'm a guy that if
I walk by Roulette wheel and I see that it's
hit red fifteen times in a row, I'm just gonna
keep pounding black until it comes up again. The way
(05:19):
I operate, That's the way I coach this team. And yeah,
we looked dreadful against Philly on Sunday Night football. But
you know what, much like any other gambler, I'll be
right back the next game, and I'll be going forward
on fourth down when all the statistics and all the
analytics would tell me otherwise, because I'm Dan Campbell.
Speaker 5 (05:38):
All right, okay, all right, okay.
Speaker 11 (05:41):
You know what, who gets to go next? Numero dose here,
mister Brady Quinn, you get to go second?
Speaker 7 (05:46):
Oh all right, Patty Sweet?
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 8 (05:50):
Dan Campbell was actually saying this, man, I miss Ben Johnson.
He was such a good coach, such a good offensive mind.
I would not have to stand up here right now
and say that said do this if Ben was still here. Hell,
I wouldn't even had to take over play calling duties
if Ben was still So that's the reality of it,
all right. I miss Ben, missed that guy, missed that
(06:12):
little brainiac over there in Chicago now winning some football games,
so which we had him back.
Speaker 7 (06:17):
But doesn't seem like that's going to be the case.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
Okay, okay, Well, you know when.
Speaker 8 (06:23):
I try to keep the soundbites shorter than what the
actual one was, Jonah sometimes gets so long winded. It's
like you can't. You can't break down coaches speak and
talk longer than they talk.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
Well you can, I mean, because he was trying to
say something, but what came out was.
Speaker 8 (06:38):
The well of all the coaches who tries to say something.
I think Dan Campbell's pretty literal.
Speaker 11 (06:43):
It's fairy does like to bite meat caps and let's
let's go to number three, LeVar.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
What do we got?
Speaker 5 (06:51):
Well En punch kneecaps. Don't forget about that.
Speaker 6 (06:54):
And this was one of those times that we had
to punch some knee caps.
Speaker 5 (06:58):
You know.
Speaker 6 (06:58):
I took the play calling duties over because I felt
like we could get some you know, some rhythm. But
that Eagles front, they sure did whoop our ass and
knocked us to the ground. And now we're sitting here
and we're punching knee caps, and so was I. And
you know what, maybe I'll give those play calling duties
backs because they knocked the rhythm out of my ass
(07:20):
and calling these games, calling this game. And you know what,
now I gotta take the blame for it, and I'll
do it with my players and my team. Next time,
I'll get back up and I'll punch them in the.
Speaker 5 (07:31):
Face, the face.
Speaker 6 (07:37):
You know what, if you're standing up, you can punch
them in the face or punch them in the belly.
Speaker 5 (07:40):
But you know you just say, punch them in the teeth.
Speaker 11 (07:42):
You know what I'm with this? You know what you get,
you get draw first blood. Let's baby, let's go, let's go.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
All right.
Speaker 11 (07:52):
Number two, here we have head coach Sean Payton for
the Broncos.
Speaker 9 (07:58):
Uh.
Speaker 11 (07:58):
He was saying, there is the right way to win
each game of Lorena. Could you go to mister Peyton, please.
Speaker 10 (08:03):
There's a white way to win each game and the
players deserve a chance, uh to have that, And so
sometimes that can vary. But in a game where you
know a lot of guys were banged up and they
were fully healthy. It's a big one.
Speaker 5 (08:20):
Can we had the first part of that again.
Speaker 13 (08:22):
Yeah, I want to hear that again too.
Speaker 10 (08:24):
There's a way to win each game, and the players
deserve it.
Speaker 6 (08:27):
Okay, I thought he maybe is that he just he
had that post game draft spit in his mouth and
couldn't get it.
Speaker 5 (08:35):
You know good.
Speaker 13 (08:37):
I used to not be able to say my rs.
They all came out as w's.
Speaker 7 (08:41):
So what does that sound right?
Speaker 11 (08:42):
Like?
Speaker 13 (08:42):
My name would be Luna, Yeah, Lowyna. My dad's name
was Juan. How long ago third grade? I had to
do speech therapy for like three years.
Speaker 7 (08:52):
That's a long time ago that I thought you've met like.
Speaker 13 (08:54):
Last year's Oh no, I wouldn't be in radio if
I sounded like that.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (08:59):
There's some people we've got some issues speaking.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
I guess my middle name would not be wrong.
Speaker 5 (09:06):
You guys are taking a shot at me.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
You know, you know what our prove them wrong. You
get to go first on this hard.
Speaker 8 (09:16):
Yeah, wake up.
Speaker 6 (09:19):
Co What I'm trying to say is is that listen, man,
no matter what type of win we get, we're gonna
take it.
Speaker 5 (09:27):
Just think back.
Speaker 6 (09:28):
I was trying to win with Russell Wilson at one point,
and you know what, how did that go? So I'm
gonna take these wins the best way that I can get. Injuries,
poor play, I don't care. It's how I want it done.
That's how it's gonna be, and that's what I'm living with.
And that is the right way of winning, the white
(09:50):
way of winning.
Speaker 5 (09:53):
The Cats too. By the way, with my with my
white gun.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
You know our next up, Jonas, you get to go next.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
Sean Payton is saying, does this sound like I'm tripping
on my words? Because that's what our offense look like,
and it's what it's looked like the entire season. I'm
sitting here coaching a team supposed to be this offensive
guru and we are atrocious on that side of the ball.
And another thing, can you believe that Vance Joseph was
fired by this organization and I somehow conned him into
(10:25):
coming here and being the defensive coordinator. If not for him,
we would be one of the worst teams in the
league thanks to Vance. And now I'm gonna go figure
out how I can put my rs and w's together
in a sentence next time.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
That's pretty good too. All right, Brady, let's hear it.
Speaker 7 (10:43):
Yeah, there's a right way to win these football games.
Speaker 8 (10:46):
And let me just remind you we just beat Andy Reid,
and I don't know why you guys aren't talking about
being as being one of the best coach's best offensive
minds in the NFL. Finding a way to win over
a guy like that who's got a quarterback and Patrick Mahomes.
My godain what I'd be doing a five Patrick Mahomes. So, yeah,
there's a right way of winning football games. I know
how to win them, even though I don't have as
(11:07):
good of a quarterback, or maybe it's good of talent
like a Hall of Fame tight end in Travis Kelcey.
Speaker 7 (11:11):
We find ways of winning games.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
Okay, the winner of this round is.
Speaker 6 (11:16):
Did I tell y'all I want to slap Russell Wilson
in the face. I just want to make sure I
draft that point home in this press or that no
matter what it is you think about the Denver Broncos,
I still want to slap run.
Speaker 7 (11:28):
Ivar needed a second round, can need his second round.
Speaker 11 (11:31):
You know what I was gonna I was gonna give
this point to another person, but because of the second round,
far you're up to.
Speaker 5 (11:38):
Yeah up to oh yeah yeah wow.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
There are no rules.
Speaker 6 (11:42):
It's just it happened this segment.
Speaker 5 (11:48):
This is blatant.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
Guys like Brady and I can't get a fair shake
in this town.
Speaker 5 (11:53):
What do you mean?
Speaker 4 (11:54):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 5 (11:56):
What do you mean?
Speaker 6 (11:56):
Like?
Speaker 7 (11:57):
Guys like it's not a white offense though, what's a fair.
Speaker 4 (12:01):
Old pe swizzy back? There is taking sides.
Speaker 11 (12:06):
I wouldn't say that, but what I will say is
Mike Kafka had something to say because he was he
was asked about benching Abdul Carter for that one.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
Series in his game. Uh Luranda, could you play for
mister k.
Speaker 14 (12:19):
That was a coach's decision. That's something we've talked about,
and I want to make sure that was my decision.
So we'll just keep the rest of that in the house.
They will keep the rest of that in the house.
Just this is a coach's decision for me and talk
to that.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Duel, all right, and the first person.
Speaker 5 (12:33):
To go here and talk to Abdul that's what he said,
I believe.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
So if you want to replay that for us.
Speaker 14 (12:40):
That was a coach's decision. That's something we talked about
and I want to make sure that was my decision.
So we'll just keep the rest of that in the house.
They will keep the rest of that in the house.
Just this was a coach's decision for me.
Speaker 5 (12:50):
And talk to that duel.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
So, yeah, you talk to him.
Speaker 5 (12:53):
I'm not I'm not I'm saying. Is he saying?
Speaker 6 (12:56):
And I talked to the Abdul or he say he's saying,
talk to Abdul like as into the media.
Speaker 5 (13:02):
You talk to Abdul.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
I heard him talking.
Speaker 6 (13:06):
I wasn't sure. I wouldn't want to take it out
of context.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
That's fair.
Speaker 7 (13:11):
That's what we're doing this entire second.
Speaker 11 (13:14):
Well, you know what, who gets to go first on
this is actually mister breed.
Speaker 5 (13:17):
You get to think.
Speaker 8 (13:18):
About let all go and then let the other two
guys go. Then I'll go again. See if I can't
try to make more of a case for my Yeah,
Mike Kafka is saying, Look, I'm young, I get it,
I'm the internim head coach. No one respects me around here.
It's like a substant teacher. No one's listening, no one's
doing their homework. So I've got to lay down the law.
(13:39):
I've got to set a precedent here, And the reality is,
I've got a guy who comes from Penn State, like
all these other edge rushers that come from Penn State.
He's sleeping, He's just laying around. They're watching Micah Parson's
lay around on a training table. So now he's laying
around on a training table, missing walkthroughs. And I've got
to address this. I can't allow this stuff that happen anymore,
(14:01):
not on this team, not in my organization. I've got
a shot a beat, a head coach somewhere, I've interviewed
for jobs, and I can't let this guy sleeping wherever
he wants mess with that.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
Okay, Okay, I like that. You know what, Jonas, you
get to go.
Speaker 5 (14:17):
Next.
Speaker 4 (14:18):
I mean, apparently this is a trend as pointed out
at Penn State. Michael Parsons sleeps on a training table.
Abdul Carter sleeps and misses an entire practice or meeting.
It's disgusting. And by the way, check the guy's stats.
All bench him. But if I want to bench him,
he's got half a sack this year. That sounds like
a circumcision gone wrong.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
Next question, All right, I like that one LaVar you've
had time.
Speaker 6 (14:46):
What is your answer, Well, I'm sure Abdul doesn't wear turtle. Next,
I'm sure he's good on in that department. But I
will say this, the line of reasoning that coach brought
to the table for this discussion point was purely set
forth by him to Abdul Carter. Listen, the Penn State
(15:09):
and Indie Lions have been referenced multiple times in these
these interpretations. Here's the real one and here's the correct one.
Their team stinks this year. Yeah, struggled, they weren't they
weren't good. They're not in contention for a playoff bid,
and yet we were able to do that last year.
Speaker 5 (15:28):
Now, I was a.
Speaker 6 (15:29):
Part of that, and right now I'm hurting. I'm hurting emotionally.
There's a little bit of physical in that. I needed
a little bit of recovery time, and you know what,
Coach gave it to him.
Speaker 5 (15:41):
We had the.
Speaker 6 (15:42):
Conversation in fact that rest time actually carried over into
game time. He actually needed a little bit more recovery
in time to heal from what's taking place in State College.
And that was the discussion that was had, but would
not have gone over well with the media and New
York as we all know their sharks in the water
(16:03):
when things take place in New York City.
Speaker 5 (16:08):
Bang bang.
Speaker 11 (16:09):
You know what, Vard, that was a very well thought out, concise,
precise answer, and I love it. However, the winner is
Jonas Knox for this round.
Speaker 8 (16:17):
Talking about Jonas the circumcision comed that's exactly.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
What wanted for me.
Speaker 13 (16:22):
Yeah, you should have heard Patty's scream when you said it.
Speaker 5 (16:26):
Oh god, it was.
Speaker 7 (16:28):
Got a circumcision comments.
Speaker 6 (16:29):
Only Jonas Knox will get away with a circumcision reference
to an explanation.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
Oh man, well fair number four here, guys, we have.
Speaker 5 (16:40):
Ste on last break. Steve had to come up with
some material.
Speaker 11 (16:48):
So Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, uh was you know it?
Talked and reacting to the whole face spitting thing with
Jamar Chas and Jaylen Ramsey Lourena could play Tomlin's response.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
I have no message or someone spits in your face,
do what comes natural?
Speaker 11 (17:05):
Yeah, that was just blunt with that, And you know what, uh, Var,
you get to go first on this one.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
What up?
Speaker 6 (17:11):
Bum bum bum bum b bum bum bum a. This
man never troubles no one, but if you trouble this man,
it will be a bum bum, what a bom bomb?
Speaker 5 (17:27):
Do what comes natural? There you go. If you know
you know, if you know you know, if you know
you know, shock a demon's baby.
Speaker 11 (17:37):
If you know you know Frady and you know what
I know that you get to go next.
Speaker 7 (17:43):
That's right.
Speaker 8 (17:43):
Uh, Mike Tom said, whoop his ass. Do not let
another man spit on you. It's as simple as that.
I guarantee you behind closed doors, you would have whooped
his ass through that next time.
Speaker 5 (17:56):
Oh spicy, What if Jamar Chase can whoop him though?
Speaker 15 (18:00):
Nah?
Speaker 7 (18:01):
John Rams got to reach on him.
Speaker 4 (18:03):
That's fair.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Well, you know who's got the reach here? We got
Jonas Knox.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
Well, I mean, we're looking at a guy from Cincinnati
who spit on another man. And if you've ever been
to Cincinnati, you've been a Skyline chili. There's a lot
of people spitting out the food there. I don't blame him.
I understand what disrespect and whether it's gold Star, whether
it's Skylines, it's brutal. And I can understand where he
comes from. That being said, my guy had every right
(18:29):
to punch him in his face.
Speaker 13 (18:31):
Oh you gotta give him that, houck dude.
Speaker 5 (18:35):
Thank you.
Speaker 11 (18:36):
Lorrain well, the winner of this one. Honestly, this one
was actually really close. But we do have a winner,
and it is the vampire himself, mister Jonas talking about
put that in your pipe. You were close, Brady, I
know you got in you.
Speaker 8 (18:53):
I'm not happy about Patti Sweet disrespecting Skyline Chili like that.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
I just I've never had to respect. I just thought
it was funny.
Speaker 4 (19:01):
It's fair. Well, you've never even had it, have clown
in a can. It was sent to me. It was
sent to me in a can, and which is not.
Speaker 8 (19:12):
Having it then because you've never actually been there, so
you wouldn't know if it's runny.
Speaker 4 (19:16):
Then I've had Skyline chili in a can, and it sucked.
Speaker 5 (19:21):
Such a strong opinion about chili.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
I just made chili.
Speaker 7 (19:26):
That's like saying you can.
Speaker 8 (19:27):
That's like like going to Carbones and you're like, you
know what, I had their chicken parm I thought the
sauce was kind of off, and then like getting that
the bottle or like the caniv it at home.
Speaker 7 (19:37):
You're like, oh, it's exact same.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
No, No, it's not a fair comp.
Speaker 8 (19:41):
There is one hundred. How is that any different than
what you're talking about?
Speaker 4 (19:45):
Because I've actually have never been to the restaurant, but
I've had it in the can exactly.
Speaker 11 (19:49):
Yeah, Oh my goodness. All right, we have a final
one here, guys. This is either for all the marbles
or Brady finally gets on the board and we have
a stalemate between var and Jonas. So we have Lane Kiffin,
old missus head coach, and he was asked, you know,
if there's anything going on since he's looking around. Possibly
he said, there's no ultimatum that he's giving to his team. Lourene,
(20:11):
could you play for mister Kiffin.
Speaker 9 (20:12):
That's absolutely not true.
Speaker 5 (20:13):
There's been no ultimating anything like that at all.
Speaker 12 (20:16):
And so I don't know where that came from, Like
a lot of stuff that comes out there.
Speaker 9 (20:20):
Like I said, man, we're having a blast.
Speaker 5 (20:22):
I love it here.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
And that was mister Kiffin.
Speaker 11 (20:25):
And you know what to plead his case here, Brady,
you get to go first.
Speaker 8 (20:31):
Yeah, coach is saying, look, I heard that Wolves just said,
and I think Skytline Chili is great. I think Jonas
Knox is a d bag. He should probably go to
Scoutline Chili if he actually wants to taste what it
tastes like instead of just referencing out of a can
like all these other LSU people who I'm not going there,
all right, I'm.
Speaker 7 (20:48):
Standing old miss going to Florida. Be either way.
Speaker 8 (20:50):
I've had Skyline Chili and it's delicious, and Jonas Knox
is a d.
Speaker 11 (20:55):
Bag scathing I like it. You know what, Jonas counterpoint,
you get to go next.
Speaker 4 (21:03):
Yeah, I'm not going to be attacked, all right. I'm
not going to be attacked by boosters. I'm not going
to be attacked by people wanting more nil money. And
I'm definitely not going to be attacked by somebody who's
trying to pound the table for Skyline Chili. They're a
cabana boy for Skyline Chili for some ungodly reason, and
it discussed me. So No, I won't take any coaching
job in Cincinnati. I won't take a coaching job in
(21:25):
Baton Rouge. But yeah, there's been some ultimatums.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
Okay, for our final word.
Speaker 6 (21:33):
I don't give a damn about Skyline Chili. I don't
give a damn about Ohio in this scenario, and I
damn sure don't give a damn about no deadlines or ultimatums.
I'm laying Kiffin I've been left on a tarmac before jobless. Hell,
I've been left by the person that was supposed to
(21:54):
love me to most in life.
Speaker 5 (21:55):
Oh no, I've gone through a whole lot in my.
Speaker 6 (21:58):
Life, and you know what it's led take this. It's
led to me being on top. And ain't nobody and
I mean nobody gonna rush me to the decision that
I make. So if there's any offers out there for me,
get at my agent. Oh miss, you want me to stay,
(22:19):
get at my agent. Press conference is over. Laye is out.
Speaker 11 (22:28):
And with that, the concessions are in, the voting is in,
and the winner. By the way, this gets three points.
I just threw that in there because it was so
fiery and inspiring. I'm just giving three points because we
have a clear winner here, Brady quin.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
Three for it was fiery, it was inspiring. First blood,
it hit me in my heart is here.
Speaker 8 (23:02):
It was you're not you're not a part of the
fine system, laurna. Do not try to pull Patty Sweet
into this, all right? There For many.
Speaker 6 (23:10):
Reasons, it was very Jonas Knox, like I'm just saying.
Speaker 8 (23:14):
First off, he lets you go a second time.
Speaker 5 (23:17):
And then gave you the point that is true.
Speaker 4 (23:19):
That is true.
Speaker 7 (23:20):
Okay, that is true.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
There are no rules.
Speaker 6 (23:22):
I didn't hear me. You don't hear me. Beef waiting though,
you know what I mean, l A. You know you
got to.
Speaker 8 (23:29):
Someone trying to to like dis a place they've.
Speaker 7 (23:32):
Never actually been to.
Speaker 4 (23:34):
I've had something from the place you.
Speaker 8 (23:36):
Have not something in a can is not really from
that place, from like a factory as produced.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
I know who Jeffrey Dahmer is. I don't need to
meet his parents. I know where he comes from.
Speaker 8 (23:47):
I know where that can anything to do with.
Speaker 4 (23:49):
I know where that can came from.
Speaker 5 (23:50):
Was very dark vampire.

Well, all right, speaking of staying put, you know what
you're gonna want to do. You're gonna want to stay
put for a little bit of food, especially if that
food is some Louisiana hot sauce. That's right, everybody, listen.
The food tastes better, the drinks are colder. The hot sauce, well, yeah,
it's hot, and it's good if it's original Louisiana hot sauce,
(24:46):
because nothing brings the heat like your team getting that dub,
and nothing brings the flavor like that bold, handcrafted kick
straight out of Louisiana. It's a kick of peppery peppers,
vinegar and salt that our Louisiana flavor masters have been
blending perfectly for almost one hundred years. It'll turn every

good meal into a great meal, and every great meal
into a party on your plate. Wings, not chos, burgers,

(25:28):
your team didn't pull off the win, it's okay. Pour

Buzz.

That's original Louisiana Hot Sauce. That's Louisiana Hot Buy.

Speaker 4 (27:46):
There was a report that came out a few days
back from Diana Rassini of The Athletic talking about some
frustrations that isn't just isolated to aj Brown with the
Philadelphia Eagles and the offense there, but maybe some other
players in the locker room as well too. This from
The Athletic, according to Rassini quote after doing some digging
(28:09):
and asking people inside the Eagles building, it was explained
that multiple offensive players have grown frustrated with Jalen Hurts's
approach this season, particularly against zone coverage. They believe he's
become hesitant in tight windows, leaning on checkdowns or scrambles
instead of trusting what's open downfield. Derek Gunn, who also
covers the Eagles, had something similar and went on to
(28:32):
say that players are frustrated because he stands back there
does Jalen Hurts and sort of pats the ball and
there's opportunities and he doesn't want to pull the trigger
on this stuff. So, of course, Jalen Hurts was asked
about it by the media in Philly yesterday and it
sounded like this, out.
Speaker 18 (28:49):
Of the responsibility when things are going I guess I
get a lot of attention when things are going well
and when things are not going so well, And so
I never run away from holding myself.
Speaker 5 (29:00):
And I think, I think that's.
Speaker 18 (29:02):
Exactly what I've I've taken the approach of doing you know,
even when I look at this last game and I
take I take great pride in what we do on offense.
I take great pride and how we go out there
and play as a team, and and and what our
flow is and so and we obviously got work to do.
And I think that starts. That obviously starts with me.
That's always my approach. That's always me looking internally first
(29:26):
in everything that we do, and then in due time, rising.
Speaker 5 (29:28):
Above those things. Having brought you directly, I don't want
to get into that. I know it hasn't. Though.
Speaker 18 (29:34):
How about how about you personally, y'all, y'all bring it
to me. I mean, you know, I think that's a
bit of a different thing.
Speaker 9 (29:41):
You know.
Speaker 18 (29:41):
I don't want to get into the weeds of anything. Ultimately,
it was with the nature of it. You know, everybody's
going to have an opinion, and I give a lot
of respect to those things. Ultimately, you know, we're all
here to do the same thing, and so it's about
the pursuit of that, you know, And and I've always
encouraged trying to work together to achieve that. I think
(30:02):
for us, we just got to be committed to the
same thing. Everybody's got to be on the same page,
and we have to, you know, set a definite vision
of what things need to be what they are, and
then we pursue that and then we grow and expound
on that week after week. You know, It's it's been
a it's been fluctuating in our approach a bit, but
we found ways to win. And in hindsight, that's why
(30:24):
you play the game. But you have to play it
with a bit of a presence's identity.
Speaker 4 (30:32):
There was Jalen Hurts responding to the report of teammates
being frustrated with them. Can I throw something out here
just the.
Speaker 7 (30:39):
Theory, Oh, I might want to co sign this. We'll see.
Speaker 4 (30:44):
I don't think that players are as frustrated with the
winning and his safe approach to the quarterback position. I
just think maybe they don't like him, that maybe it's
more of that because you are winning games, there's reports
(31:04):
and him kind of saying, nobody's come to me. I
have to hear this from you guys there, it feels
like there's more of a personal thing than there is
a performance thing.
Speaker 5 (31:15):
I guess why do you think that?
Speaker 4 (31:18):
Because they're winning games and they've just won a super
Bowl and it's not like he hasn't played well and
they're the one seed in like it's like all of
these things that are happening. Look, Bo Nixon struggled. You
see players coming out and defending him publicly, like he's strong.
The offense has looked abysmal at times, but you see
(31:38):
guys come out and defend him publicly. Jalen Hurs just
won a Super Bowl and you've got people going to
reporters in the in the affilly that cover the team
airing him out. They just don't like him.
Speaker 6 (31:52):
You forgot to add Super Bowl MVP as well, exactly,
and actually outplayed Patrick Mahomes in the first super Bowl
that they lost.
Speaker 4 (31:59):
This few like a personal thing to me. That's my
two cents.
Speaker 8 (32:04):
I might co sign with that only because when I
watch it, like, are there times where there are windows?
Speaker 7 (32:10):
Are there times where something might be there?
Speaker 8 (32:13):
Yeah, I mean, I'm kind of coming through last week's
game right now, but honestly, you know, guys around them
need to do a better job too. There's times you
see drops, there's times you see guys not getting open.
And I also think everyone's got an opinion about you
know what it what it's like to play quarterback. You
(32:34):
know what the quarterback's not doing right, not doing well.
It's why we have all these air armchair quarterbacks. The
reality isn't unless you've played in that position and you've
seen from that perspective, it becomes really really hard to
ultimately know what is going on. And I only say
that because it is such a unique position, not only
(32:56):
from the vantage point of leadership, but from the vantage
point of just how you even see the game from
the pocket. And it's one of the reasons why I've
always felt like, if you have a quarterback coach that
didn't play quarterback, you're gonna have a hard time relating
to the actual quarterback because there's things that like, unless
you're just a really good teacher and you can be
that understanding, you're not gonna understand the things he's gonna
(33:19):
say to you. So, I you know, could there be
some issues with just how people feel about him as
a guy.
Speaker 7 (33:27):
Maybe.
Speaker 8 (33:28):
I don't know, not in that locker room. I will
say this to all your point, like, this is a
team that's a winning football team. There might be the
very top overall seed when it's all said and done
the NFC. They just won a Super Bowl last year.
They're also talking about the Super Bowl MVP. This is
a city that likes to make stuff up. I'm just saying, like,
(33:50):
this city likes made up drama. Rocky Rocky is one
of the greatest films ever. It's completely fictional, all right,
there's the stairs, the statue, the whole thing. I'm just
saying like that, like this, the whole city likes to
make stuff up. So I'm not surprised that there's some
sort of drama with a team that's arguably the best
in the NFC trying to win back to back Super
(34:11):
Bowls and they're making a lot out of a little
because that's part of their identity. If you look at
for example, Rocky and people running the stairs. This is
what Rocky did. No, it's not he wasn't a real guy.
It's that real. You're just doing what the movie did.
Speaker 4 (34:30):
You know it's got a statue up there.
Speaker 6 (34:33):
Yeah, a lot of people outside of Philly like that
fictitious guy.
Speaker 7 (34:37):
I like it. I love it. I listen. I listened
to the.
Speaker 8 (34:40):
Soundtrack all the time when I work out, I do.
I swear to guy, it's one of the best soundtracks
to work out too, even just the instrumental stuff.
Speaker 7 (34:49):
I mean that's like maybe one day a week, but
still once a week. I love it.
Speaker 8 (34:54):
I'm just saying, like, again, it didn't happen in Cleveland,
didn't happen.
Speaker 7 (34:58):
In La happening Philly. He like Drauma, like makes some
that stuff up.
Speaker 5 (35:05):
It is interesting. He has a statue.
Speaker 6 (35:09):
You know, when you listen to Jalen Hurts, he gives you.
He gives you Kobe Bryant type vibes, you know, in
the way that he speaks. And I would say, the
challenge you have when you have the type of demeanor
(35:32):
that Jalen Hurts has is that you're going to you're
going to create a standard by the things that you say,
because quite frankly, it's very impressive the way he speaks
on matters, almost like a wise uncle or a wise dad,
(35:52):
or just just a person that has has strong wisdom
and they exercise, you know, a level of restraint where
you know, you generally aren't going to hear a guy
like Jalen Hurts say anything that he has to pull back.
You know, he's not going to put himself in a
position where he has to come out and apologize because
(36:13):
he's so well thought out in the things that he says,
and he actually executes the things that he say he
says pretty pretty well. So I think that creates that
creates something. A level of success that Jalen Hurts has
grown to could also generate locker room jealousy. Those are
(36:39):
all things that are possible. Maybe there's certain guys that
feel a certain type of way because they're not getting
their shot at the fame. They're not getting their shot,
you know, maybe so much towards the fortune of it all.
And it's based upon how Jalen Hurts plays, and he
(37:00):
has not played at an elite quarterback level this season
and at times during his career it has come under
scrutiny that he doesn't always play at the highest level
as a quarterback, as a franchise guy. But just like
(37:21):
when Chris uh, what's what's the defensive tackle for the
Kansas City Chief Chris Johnson, right, Chris Jones called him
out for it during the game. He's standing there talking
trans to him about how poor his performance was during
the game, and Jayalen Hurts basically politely told him to
shut that up. We won the game, right, And I
(37:45):
think that's his mentality. And everybody isn't going to match
a higher level of thought in that locker room. And
I'm not trying to call anybody neanderthal, but some of
these guys are neanderthal, Like, some of these guys aren't
(38:05):
exercising their minds on the type of level that a
Jalen Hurts is. And when you have somebody like that,
and sometimes you might expect him to be on the
same page with you, but he isn't, and for obvious reasons,
because his idea of it is very different most likely
(38:29):
than those guys that expect him to be like how
they are, or handle things the way that he handles them,
or have a level of relatability to it, and he
holds himself to a different standard, And so I know
that doesn't justify poor play, but it also but I
(38:50):
do believe it justifies the thought process of trying to
understand some of the things that you may see and
witness and experience watching Jalen Hurts.
Speaker 8 (39:00):
Let me push back on the poor play aspect. Okay,
I don't think it's poor play. Like if you look
at his numbers, he's not the most prolific, but he
does not turn the football over for one yeahs sixteen
touchdowns to one pick. Go back to last years eighteen
to five throughout his entire career, like maybe his best
(39:24):
statistical season it was twenty two to six.
Speaker 6 (39:27):
But some people may so argue the fact that him
not throwing those interceptions, or that interception figure being so
low is based upon the fact that he won't let
it go, he won't take a chance and won't try
to exactly.
Speaker 8 (39:42):
So there's that thought to it. But I would still
say this, he plays a winning brand of football. And
that season you're talking about, they went fourteen and one
in the games he started back in twenty twenty two.
So if people are saying that they're probably missing the
greater that. Yeah, maybe he's he's a bit more conservative.
(40:05):
That's kind of been his place. But if you combine
like his rushing yards as well as his passing yards,
and you really like break that down statistically speaking, he's
as impactful as anyone. So I understand the frustration they
can have. This is also a team that I'll continue
to add in his defense. They've gone through so many coordinators,
(40:28):
Like he's started now what six years, is that about, right?
Or he's been there six years? He started about five? Yeah, yeah,
I mean they've had Kellen Moore, they've had Shane Steich,
and they've got Kevin Patulo this year. They've got the
quarter or the OC they just fired a year before that,
before the Super Bowler. So what twenty twenty three, which
(40:48):
was arguably his worst year, not arguably it was his
worst year. He threw for the most yards he's never
thrown for, but through twice three times as many picks.
I mean you start breaking it down and it's like, well,
all right, Like every single year almost it feels like
their offense has been a different version of itself, and
(41:10):
it's hard as a quarterback to be able to consistently
play at a high level when you don't have the
same guys there like you know, you look at Patrick Mahomes.
Patrick Mahomes from the beginning of his time with the
Kansaty Chiefs to now is a completely different quarterback. The
way he plays. They're not throwing the big chunks down
the field. He's not taking all these chances to make
these wild plays and throws outside the pocket. Does it
(41:32):
happen every once in a while, sure, but no one's
letting them do that anymore. And they've had a different
coordinators too, some that have come back. Matt Naggy obviously
has come back.
Speaker 7 (41:43):
To that team.
Speaker 8 (41:44):
But it looks entirely different watching that team play from
what it was.
Speaker 6 (41:48):
What it is, I would just say super quickly, and
the defense is playing very well, And why would you
take chances on making mistakes that your defense will most
likely give you more chances to try to put points
on the board. Nobody's talking crazy about Saquon. Saquon's not
(42:10):
He's what half the production to what he was at
last year. Nobody's talking crazy about Saquon. So to me,
when you look at it, it's a defensive lad team
bottom line, and whether people want to like that or
accept it or like it. You know, Jalen Hurts accepts
it and Jalen Hurts embraces it, And I think that's
why he handles things the way that he does. Don't
(42:30):
be a liability, be an asset to your team.

Good Thursday morning to you, sir, Good.
Speaker 9 (44:04):
Morning, guys. How we doing.
Speaker 4 (44:05):
Good morning, We're good. Another day of you sitting a
top the uh, atop the throne. Huh? Does it get
bearing at this point?
Speaker 19 (44:16):
Yeah? I mean, you know it's you just don't want
to You don't want to lie yourself to become too
comfortable because it is comfortable up here. You know, I'm
not gonna lie so you know, you just want to
kind of you and make sure you don't get too comfortable.
Speaker 4 (44:29):
That's fair. That's fair. Now, speaking of comfortable, you would
think that Jalen Hurts would be comfortable in Philadelphia based
on the fact that he just won a Super Bowl,
was a Super Bowl MVP, he went to another Super Bowl, like,
He's done some pretty impressive things in his career. Yet
there's these reports that come out, first from Diana Rassini,
(44:50):
there was another one that came out sort of corroborating
that that players are not happy with sort of how
he performs within the offense there and they've grown frustrated
with him. And how much of this is just schematics
and just performance on the field, and how much of
it is just a personality thing and maybe they just
don't like Jalen Hurts.
Speaker 19 (45:09):
It's a little bit of both, and it has been
for a while.
Speaker 9 (45:12):
Like I think that, you know, there is the fact
that you built an.
Speaker 19 (45:18):
Offense for for Jalen Hurts that runs a certain way,
that's set up a certain way that maybe isn't conducive
to everyone producing at the highest level statistically, you know,
and that can be frustrating for guys, because look, all
these guys are competitive about their individual performance the same
way they are from a team perspective, you know, So
(45:39):
there's that there's also kind of like this stoic way.
Speaker 9 (45:44):
About him that isn't for everybody, you know.
Speaker 19 (45:47):
And I think the one thing that like, you know,
the Eagles have learned and having Jalen Hurts for six
years is there's just a way that he is and
you've got to manage You've got to deal with it,
you know.
Speaker 9 (46:01):
And like he's.
Speaker 19 (46:02):
Not going to be everyone's best friend.
Speaker 9 (46:06):
You know.
Speaker 19 (46:06):
He has a you know, kind of a very like
down the line way about him, and you know, like
to some people that can come off as being a jerk.
To other people, that comes off as being still a
caliber you want to slice it, that's just.
Speaker 9 (46:22):
Part of the package, you know.
Speaker 19 (46:24):
And so that's been what it's been, and I you know,
it's it's actually interesting.
Speaker 9 (46:29):
Because you know, two.
Speaker 19 (46:32):
Years ago you heard some of the same stuff.
Speaker 9 (46:35):
You didn't hear it in twenty two or twenty four
when they were going to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 15 (46:39):
So I think a lot of it's relative to the
team's success.
Speaker 8 (46:43):
How much of the change in offensive coordinator when you
talk about the offense that they've set up has played
a roller factor. I mean, in my mind looking at him.
Speaker 7 (46:52):
It's tough.
Speaker 8 (46:53):
You've got Kellam Moore's head coach and Steigner's head coach
with a Josh Johnson, I forget the name of the
coach that they laid like after a year. But he's
had a lot of different guys. Excuse me, yeah, Brian
Joel the quarterback, but you know, you go through the
list of other guys who have been there and called plays.
He's been starting for what five years, It's been a
(47:15):
lot of different guys.
Speaker 19 (47:17):
In that pisode, Yeah, well, I mean you go through
it right, like so like that first year, Shane Steichen
was actually became the play caller. I think, I want
to say, like it was like midway through that year,
but Sirianni had been the play caller, and then Sikan
was the play caller.
Speaker 9 (47:30):
There's Super Bowl year.
Speaker 19 (47:31):
Twenty two, then it was Johnson in twenty three, then
it was more in twenty four, and now is Kevin
Petulo in twenty five. So uh, and then if you
want to go back to when he was a rookie,
obviously that was you know, there was no Stiking or
or or Petullo or or or Sirianni or any of them.
Speaker 9 (47:49):
It was Doug Peterson. So he's been through a lot.
Speaker 19 (47:52):
Of change of course, you know. And then there's part
of that and and look, the standards really high there.
Speaker 9 (47:57):
And you know, one thing.
Speaker 19 (48:00):
That I think shouldn't be lost here is this is
part of the price of doing business when you put
a team together. The way they put their team together,
which you know, like is you know, they having having
you know, like a star stud a roster like that
where you've got a lot of guys who are on
big contract creates like a lot of mouth to feed.
Speaker 9 (48:18):
Sort of situation. And that's and that can be challenging.
Speaker 19 (48:21):
For for for any coach, you know. And I think
that's like honestly, like Brady, it's to you guys said
a few times I think over the course of the
last couple of months, like you know, Aj Brown, like
one of the strengths of Nick Sirianni is being able
to manage a guy like that, because I don't think
any everybody can.
Speaker 15 (48:35):
You know, And there's a reason why they're able to roll.
Speaker 19 (48:39):
The dice on a guy like Jalen Carter who a
lot of teams.
Speaker 9 (48:42):
Had off their draft board.
Speaker 19 (48:44):
You know, it's it's it's just sort of the.
Speaker 9 (48:49):
Way that they've set their roster up.
Speaker 19 (48:50):
And you know, and a big part of why Siriani
is valuable to them and and has brought so much
value to them is because of his ability to manage
all of that.
Speaker 9 (48:59):
So we'll see what it looks like in the end.
Speaker 19 (49:02):
But you know, these sort of bumps, you know, is
that group of players, This isn't the first time, you know, so,
and we'll see where it goes from here.
Speaker 6 (49:13):
Is there the chance that Mike Daniel survives after this season?
Survives Black what is Black Monday? Is like he's still
back in Miami next season?
Speaker 9 (49:26):
Yeah? I think yes, The answer is yes.
Speaker 19 (49:29):
And I don't want to say definitively is he is
going to But if you look at their you look
at their schedule, I believe the next two weeks. Now,
I'm gonna look it up for you guys here because
I know how good how that's good radio when somebody's
googling something. But they're yeah, they're scheduled the next two
weeks with the Saints and the Jets, and so they
woulin those two games now, all of a sudden, you're
(49:50):
six and seven going into Pittsburgh on a Monday night
in mid December, you know, And so like.
Speaker 9 (49:58):
The opportunity is there for Mike Nidan.
Speaker 19 (50:00):
You know, the owner likes him, and I think that
that's you know, obviously going to be a big factor
any in any one of these And one of the
things that I know that the owner has heard from
people is is, well, you know, like this guy is
going to be great and his second chance as a
head coach, which you know, I think we get any
owner thinking, well, what about you know, the first chance
that I'm giving him, Why can't he.
Speaker 9 (50:20):
Be that now? You know? So I think that that's
I think it's gonna be interesting to see where this goes.
Speaker 19 (50:28):
And and really the barometer here, because this is the
biggest question, and this goes back to September and October.
The barometer here is going to be his ability to
hold onto that locker room and and and and to
get the best performance possible out of all those players,
because you know, if you go back to September and October,
things were kind of a mess and there have been
(50:48):
a star driven culture there before, and I think it
was really petering on you know, does Mike still have
have this Mike still have these guys, you know, or
is this thing about to implode? And now it looks
like they've gotten it back in the tracks, and so
you know, can Mike continue to you know, to Mike
continue compel that group of players and you know, you again,
(51:12):
you look at the schedule going forward, with the six games.
Speaker 9 (51:16):
They've got left, it's just it looks.
Speaker 19 (51:18):
To me at least like this is a team that
could you know, find itself right there in the precipice
of five hundred, you know, going into going into Pittsburgh
on that Monday night in mid December, and it'll be
really interesting to see how they come out of the
buy because they do have some momentum now.
Speaker 4 (51:36):
Albert Brer joining us here on Fox Sports Radio, senior
NFL reporter, lead content strategist at the MMQB. Michael Pennix
junior out for the year. The Atlanta Falcons, I think
have been a disappointment for a lot of people's expectations
going into the season. And now I just wonder what
is the feeling there about Raheem Morris because they kind
(51:58):
of I don't want to say they climb Bill Belichick,
but they kind of made a spectacle of it, ultimately
went the other direction, and yet here we are and
they've been really underwhelming under Raheem Morris.
Speaker 9 (52:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 19 (52:10):
Not only that, like Mike Rabel was kind of an
afterthought and the coaching search they brought him in, and
like it was I mean, I think to some people
it almost felt like they were checking a box, you know.
So they passed on Mike Rabel, who I think they
very much could have had, you know, in twenty four
if if if they choose.
Speaker 9 (52:28):
To go down that route.
Speaker 15 (52:29):
So you know, certainly, I.
Speaker 9 (52:31):
Think you look at the opportunities they passed on. I
think what's going to be interesting here.
Speaker 19 (52:37):
To me is how they assigned blame for what happened
what's happened at quarterback, right, like, because I think you
look at the investment and this is real money, you know,
like that the owner, that the owner's investing in, the
real draft capital that the owner's investing, and you just
think about the impact of what they've what they did
in quarter a quarterback in twenty twenty four to make
(52:58):
up for not having had one the.
Speaker 9 (52:59):
Cup years before that.
Speaker 19 (53:01):
Right, So they spend forty five million dollars per year
on kirk Cousins. If they cut them after the year,
they'll have sung almost one hundred million dollars into them.
Speaker 9 (53:10):
It's going to be like the number is going to
be a.
Speaker 19 (53:12):
Little bit pungible based on like on on offsets, but
but around one hundred million dollars on kirk Cousins for
two years to be in and out of the lineup.
Then they'll then they'll have they'll have spent the eighth
overall pick on Michael Pennix, who probably won't be ready
for the start of the twenty sixth season. Okay, so
now you're saying, like we overinvest in twenty four to
(53:34):
try to get this right.
Speaker 9 (53:35):
Probably neither of those guys.
Speaker 19 (53:36):
Are going to be in uniform for us at the
beginning of twenty twenty six. And then you and then
you look at like the cost of doing what they
did there and spending that high draft pick. After spending
that money, well, they spent that high draft pick, they
didn't get a pass rusher, and then they had to
trade their twenty six first round pick to to to
(53:57):
to go back into the twenty five first round the defense.
So now they don't have a first round picking twenty
six either. As a result of all of this, it's
a ten car pile up, you know what I mean. Like,
so I think a lot of this for Raheem, for
Terry font No, the general manager is going to come
down to assessing the damage on what they did at
(54:18):
quarterback in the spring of twenty twenty four. And that's
oversimplifying it a little bit.
Speaker 9 (54:23):
Look, and you still have some games left to try
and dig yourself out of this hole.
Speaker 19 (54:27):
I to you're Araheem, but it's not a great situation
based on the amount of capital that the owner invested
in trying to get that position right.
Speaker 8 (54:36):
And I can see that we talked about this a
little bit earlier. I think one of the things that
I thought was interesting is it was a risky move
back when they did it, only because of the investment
that they made. But you do have to give them
credit for trying right, Like that's the one position you
got to figure out. Well, granted you can say, like, hey,
(54:57):
do you want to invest that much money and Kirk
Cousins off in Achilles and then invest money into a
top ten pick for a guy who's got this sort
of injury history, Like there's was definitely some injury concerns
there that obviously, you know, again, I don't know how
much Raheem and Terry fond too played a role in that,
But is there any like grace for Haye. We went
after it hard, we tried, this is our plan. It
just it's just kind of blown up. Like Cousins obviously
(55:20):
never been able to get back to what he was
and then you know, for Penix, it's kind of been
up and down. But obviously the injury now really eliminates
any potential of seeing what the rest of the season
could be.
Speaker 20 (55:30):
Like, I mean, I think that's part of the risk
of Brady right, Like, it's like what I remember what
I what I would tell people after they did that, right, was, look,
if they get it right, if one of these guys
is the answer, if they're in the play if they're
in the second round of the playoffs or in a
conference championship game with one of these guys's quarterback, it's
not going to matter what they spent.
Speaker 9 (55:50):
The position is that important?
Speaker 19 (55:52):
Right like, so so like whatever you say.
Speaker 8 (55:54):
So, but they were a game away last year, So
where do you factor that in?
Speaker 9 (55:58):
Yeah, and That's the thing. No one remembers. No one
remembers what.
Speaker 19 (56:01):
The Chiefs gave up to get Patrick Mahomes, right, Like,
no one remembered it because because it's irrelevant, like.
Speaker 9 (56:07):
They have Patrick Mahomes, you know. Same with Josh Allen.
The Bills, you know, had to do all kinds.
Speaker 19 (56:13):
Of things to move up in the draft order to
get Josh Allen. It was like a two year process of.
Speaker 15 (56:17):
Getting a position to take.
Speaker 9 (56:18):
No one cares.
Speaker 19 (56:19):
Because they have Josh Allen. Now this is the flip
side of it, right, Like it's like.
Speaker 9 (56:24):
If you're gonna do that, you better not strike out.
Speaker 19 (56:27):
And you know, like and I think that that's sort
of the cost of doing business at this level. And
now again I would say if you talk to people
who are there before twenty four, you know, Arthur Smith's
plan going into twenty three was like, all right, like,
we don't believe in the twenty three draft class and
what was available to us, which it would have been
(56:48):
Anthony Richards and so they were actually right, you know,
in twenty three, like we don't believe like that there's
an answer that's available to us in this year's draft.
So we're going to kick the can down the road,
the owner was on board with it, and then the
whole thing blows up because they don't have a quarterback
in twenty three, and then the reactionary thing is to
go all the way in the other direction and over
invest in the.
Speaker 9 (57:07):
Position in twenty four.
Speaker 19 (57:09):
So there's actually like kind of like a trail of things.
Speaker 9 (57:12):
Here, you know, like where you look at it and
it's like, does this go all the way back to
like hanging.
Speaker 15 (57:16):
On to Matt Ryan a year too long? You know
what I mean?
Speaker 19 (57:19):
Like it's just it's a complicated thing, and I think,
you know, there are a lot of people who I
would say have like the proverbial blood.
Speaker 15 (57:26):
On their hands, right, But like at the end, like do.
Speaker 19 (57:29):
Your question is do they have a quarterback?
Speaker 15 (57:32):
Or are we looking at.
Speaker 19 (57:33):
A franchise that it's going to be going back into
the draft in twenty twenty seven to get one And
it looks like they could be that team, which isn't
a great place for the decision to makers to be right.
Speaker 8 (57:43):
But before we get two years ahead of ourselves, I
guess the question is there were a game away from
being a playoff team last year. Do they look at
this year and just say they've had a bunch of injuries.
I mean, now Penix is on our you know, you
look at how decimated they've been. They've been tight, you
know in games, are there blanks? Seems to be the
type of phone and that's been patient? Like does that
play out?
Speaker 19 (58:06):
And I think he should be with Raheem, Like I
just I think too highly Overrahim.
Speaker 9 (58:12):
As a football coach.
Speaker 19 (58:13):
And I know too many people that know way more
about football than I do, or ever will that think
so highly of him, you know, I mean I'll give
you too, Kyle san Anean McVay, like you know, like
like I know too many people that just think so
highly over him as a football coach that I would
be very careful about, you know, making any sort of
rash decision. And I'm with you on that, Like I think,
(58:35):
like look like you know, like is this and is
this a screwed up situation now?
Speaker 9 (58:40):
Quarterback? Absolutely, And you know it's not a great spot
to be in.
Speaker 19 (58:44):
And I don't know if Michael Pennix is going to
be their quarterback two years from now. We just don't
have enough information. Can you separate that from making a
decision on the head coach and what you think of
the head coach and what the head coach can be
for you for.
Speaker 9 (58:59):
The next ten years.
Speaker 19 (59:00):
Like that's the real trick, right, Like, so can the
owners do that? I think Arthur Blank has shown in
the past like that he's got patience to make these
sorts of decisions in a rational, interrational way.
Speaker 9 (59:12):
You know, we'll see. Because the other thing is.
Speaker 15 (59:15):
Like, you know, it's now been a while since.
Speaker 19 (59:18):
The Falcons were have been have been in the playoffs.
I think we're talking about what six or seven years now,
so they were in the playoffs and the last team
that made the playoffs probably the year after they went
to the Super Bowl in the seventeen season.
Speaker 9 (59:29):
Is that right, yeah?
Speaker 7 (59:30):
Seven years?
Speaker 9 (59:31):
Yeah, So like it's been a long time. So now
does the.
Speaker 19 (59:34):
Owner have and I think this exists in every market, right,
does the owner have the sort of armadillo skin to
withstand the criticism which now is gonna be pointed at him,
you know what I mean, which is now going to
be like the owner doesn't know what he's doing, you know,
and a lot of owners don't have don't have the
(59:57):
don't have.
Speaker 4 (59:57):
The wherewithal to do it.
Speaker 19 (59:58):
I would say, like of out there blank the benefit
of a doubt because he generally has been pretty patient
as an owner. But sometimes it's not easy for those
guys to take the sort of criticism that comes their
way when there's been, you know, that long a period
of failure that's that that that that's gone on under
multiple coaches, which again is how an organization winds up
(01:00:18):
becoming destabilized.
Speaker 6 (01:00:21):
AB My last question for you is about the Commanders
one game away from the Super Bowl a year ago
and this year three wins. I know, I know largely
in part due to just kind of how how.
Speaker 5 (01:00:39):
Jaydeon Daniel's health has played out, but.
Speaker 6 (01:00:42):
It just kind of has this airly similar type of
smell to it, like r G three and some in
some regards. But how should we be you know, how
should people be viewing the Commanders right now?
Speaker 19 (01:00:58):
Well, I would say there's one big difference at the
very top of the organization and that I think it
would be tough to hang the failures of Daniel Snyder
around the neck of Josh Harris. We don't know how
Josh Harris is going to react to this. We do
know how Daniel Snyder did, and you know, like he
was such a massive part of the problem there, and
(01:01:20):
that he empowered RG three to carry himself.
Speaker 15 (01:01:23):
A certain way, and he empowered.
Speaker 19 (01:01:26):
Him to, I would say, do some things that undermined
what Mike Shanahan was trying to build there, which created
larger problems which ended up like resulting in that whole
thing blowing up, you know, I like, until further noticed LeVar,
I think we can take this as just a crappy
(01:01:49):
year and some bad injury luck.
Speaker 15 (01:01:51):
And the commanders had incredible.
Speaker 19 (01:01:53):
Injury luck last year, and you know, like that swung
back around and it got them, you know.
Speaker 15 (01:02:00):
And so I don't want to again, I don't.
Speaker 19 (01:02:02):
Want to hang the failures of Daniel Snyder around the
neck of Josh Harris. I don't want to hang the
failures of Robert Griffin the Third around the neck of
Jayden Daniels.
Speaker 9 (01:02:12):
I don't think that's fair, you know. I do think
that there are.
Speaker 19 (01:02:16):
Real concerns, like and I think one of them is
they've gotten old very very fast.
Speaker 9 (01:02:21):
You know.
Speaker 19 (01:02:22):
Adam Peters and and and and and Dan Quinn did
an excellent job of finding veteran players to patch holes.
And there were a lot of holes in that roster
when they got there, but a lot of those guys
were older, a lot of those guys were on one
or two year deals, and there was a lot longer
rebuild required. And so you know, whether or not, like
(01:02:44):
the Commanders come out of this, I.
Speaker 15 (01:02:46):
Think it's going to depend on now their.
Speaker 19 (01:02:48):
Success with some of the younger players that they've drafted,
Guys like Josh Connolly, like Krossky Merritt, you know, like
some of the guys that that that have come into
that building over the course of the last couple of years,
Trey Amos, Mikey Sainer Still, you know, can those guys
become frontline players for them? And then what do they
(01:03:08):
do this year in the draft with you know, a
lot of their capital drained because they made trades for
veteran players. It's those are the real problems for the
for the Commanders to me, like right that those are
the things that they're going to have to answer for.
I think I think Jayden Daniel is gonna be just fine.
Speaker 9 (01:03:25):
I think Dan Quinn is gonna be just fine.
Speaker 19 (01:03:26):
And we have no reason to believe that Josh Harris
is suddenly going to morph into Dan Snyder.
Speaker 4 (01:03:31):
Maybe uh one quick one before we get to your uh,
the pick on the big game in college football this weekend?
What the hell is going on with Kean Coleman, Like,
what's happening? Is he just not shown up to meetings
or what? What?
Speaker 9 (01:03:42):
What's Yeah?
Speaker 19 (01:03:43):
I mean like there's there's a there's a ton of
stuff that they've had to deal with.
Speaker 9 (01:03:46):
I think the kid has to grow up. I think
what they're trying to do is they're trying to put
them in a position where they're trying to they're they're
they're they're trying.
Speaker 19 (01:03:56):
To say, Okay, like if you want to be part
of this, like you need to carry yourself differently. There's
a level of responsibility that we demand from all of
your players that you're not exempt from. And so, you know,
I think this is sort of their attempt to sound
the alarm to the kid and and and and get
him on a path where he can be, you know,
(01:04:18):
a real factor for them in the playoffs because they
need him, you know, like I the receiver spot there
between Shavers and Shakir and you know what they've got.
Speaker 9 (01:04:27):
Right now is is just okay, And.
Speaker 19 (01:04:30):
You know, getting more out of a high second round pick.
You know, by the end of December and then into January.
It would be absolutely huge for them. So to me,
this is a swing and trying to wag keon Coleman
up a little bit. We'll see if it works.
Speaker 9 (01:04:46):
All right.
Speaker 5 (01:04:47):
I didn't.
Speaker 7 (01:04:53):
Well, I mean, what's there to ask?
Speaker 9 (01:04:55):
I just figured, yeah, he's getting for team reps. Guys,
like I think you know that, right.
Speaker 8 (01:05:03):
It's unbelievable how this is like blown into like a
cultural war. It's it's it's weird, man, I don't get it.
It has like it's like people get all fired up
about it. It's like I don't understand. This is no
different than any other backup than now is throat or
string position.
Speaker 7 (01:05:23):
I mean I was a backup. I was a starter.
Speaker 8 (01:05:25):
If I'm starting, I'm not giving away reps where you
don't get enough during the week to prepare as it.
Speaker 21 (01:05:29):
Is, right, I'm sorry, that's just you know what Brady,
I was thinking about this like that that The funny
thing about this is like you don't it doesn't even
need to be like we don't. You don't even need
to explain it to you from an NFL context, right,
Like to think about like a team you were on
in high school, Like how often was your coach randomly
throwing backups into the into the line.
Speaker 4 (01:05:51):
I'm never getting ready for a game. Never.
Speaker 8 (01:05:55):
It's like it should be relatable to anyone who has
a brain, has ever played football or been around football,
But somehow we people won't to talk about it.
Speaker 7 (01:06:04):
On the note of ke.
Speaker 19 (01:06:05):
Coleman, treat justice that I just doesn't make any sense
at all.
Speaker 8 (01:06:10):
But anyway, No, on a note of keon Coleman, though,
wouldn't it be better to keep this stuff in house?
Like you you you let this stuff get out and
we don't know how it's gonna work. Maybe he he
understands what they're trying to do and he grows up.
Maybe he doesn't. But like once it becomes public, it
kind of hurts your the trade value. You know, at
some point, can't you just kind of keep this stuff
(01:06:31):
in house, not broadcast address them, just not play him
and let him know what kind of and he understands
what's happening.
Speaker 19 (01:06:39):
I mean, I would say, when you've already tried a
bunch of stuff, like you know, maybe.
Speaker 8 (01:06:46):
I mean, what is the acting like a pennstated edge rusher?
Speaker 5 (01:06:48):
Is that what was happening?
Speaker 8 (01:06:49):
No, I'm just saying between Michah Parsons Abdual Carter.
Speaker 7 (01:06:56):
We can have a lot of questions.
Speaker 19 (01:06:57):
The Levaro that was that was that was believably.
Speaker 8 (01:07:01):
I'm trying to wake up LeVar over there. I'm trying
to get him up off that hospital. Betty looks like
Hugh Freeze up in the press box calling the game
cold blooded?
Speaker 19 (01:07:10):
Is this a heroic effort by today to make it.
Speaker 7 (01:07:14):
I'm just trying to get LeVar going.
Speaker 5 (01:07:15):
Man, I'm not going to do it. I'm not going
to respond.
Speaker 6 (01:07:19):
To to these people attempts to draw a reaction out
of me. I'm just I'm not going to do it.
And both of them happen to wear Levin too. They
they belonged to Stick City. You know, it is what
it is. You know, people should have the opportunity to
mature and grow up and make mistakes and you know,
make decisions.
Speaker 9 (01:07:40):
This is all a good meeting, Albert.
Speaker 5 (01:07:45):
People have fallen asleep in meetings, you know what I mean.
I mean it's happened before. You know, stand up.
Speaker 9 (01:07:52):
A lot of weird random places.
Speaker 5 (01:07:53):
So stand up, Quil to sleep coming. You got to
stand up.
Speaker 4 (01:07:59):
Quickly before we before we let you go. Uh. Ohio
State will they'd be better than Rutgers this weekend by
more than thirty one and a half points.
Speaker 9 (01:08:10):
Yes. Yeah.
Speaker 15 (01:08:11):
I almost took them.
Speaker 19 (01:08:12):
Not to cover and make myself out of it last week, right, Like,
so I'm not going to tuck myself out of this
this week?
Speaker 9 (01:08:17):
Well, well we will, we will be we will be.
Speaker 19 (01:08:20):
Rolling into uh into arbor.
Speaker 4 (01:08:22):
There there you go.
Speaker 19 (01:08:23):
I'd be worried about Michigan, Brady, I don't think so, right.
Speaker 8 (01:08:26):
I mean, you guys were the biggest favorite in the
history of the series, right, and you guys lost the
home last year.
Speaker 7 (01:08:31):
I think it's definitely a concern.
Speaker 8 (01:08:32):
By the way, because because here's the thing is, like,
I know, you probably feel really confident about this year.
That's kind of how I felt about that matchup last year.
I mean, Michigan threw for what sixty yards in that game?
They still won, right, Right, That's what I'm saying, Like.
Speaker 9 (01:08:48):
That was like a that was I mean, that was totally.
Speaker 19 (01:08:55):
Like it was in our head and it's like that
got the best of us. I just don't think that's
going to happen again, you know, But I don't.
Speaker 8 (01:09:05):
I don't either, Bud. If I was a betting man
I don't think it's gonna happen. I think the line's
way too low. I would lay the points easily with
ohigot state there. But again, like last year scarred me
for life, were I'll never be able to look at
this robbery again and say, yeah, I don't care what
the point spread says, it's just usually going to be
a tighter game.
Speaker 19 (01:09:24):
Yeah, but how do you feel about like a freshman
quarterback against Matt Patricia?
Speaker 8 (01:09:29):
Yeah, dude, trust me. Last week they had five last week.
Speaker 15 (01:09:32):
The trust quarter Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:09:36):
Yeah, and and but so.
Speaker 8 (01:09:37):
None of that matters and buo wait bo wait what
I would expect just him to run a lot more.
I would expect them to unleash that element because this
game is a college football playoff game for them. If
they don't win, well, obviously they've got to, you know,
win this week. But if they don't win next week,
they don't get in. So I would expect them to
utilize his legs like Biff Pogi did earlier.
Speaker 4 (01:09:55):
But yeah, maybe we always appreciate to get him on
ex at Albert Greer, Senior NFL reporter, lead content strategist
at the MmpB. And we'll do it again next week.
Speaker 9 (01:10:06):
All right, thanks because, hey, happy Thanksgiving two. If we
don't talk.
Speaker 4 (01:10:09):
About there he is, Yeah, there, he is a great
out time by the way.
Speaker 8 (01:10:14):
You know, Ab sounds like he was well rested. LeVar
not so much. And that's because LeVar doesn't have a
temper peedick. He's got to get the mattress Firm and
they can match him up with a temp repeedick.
Speaker 7 (01:10:25):
