Speaker 2 (01:16):
It's good morning for most you know, Yeah, maybe not
so last night who you had yesterday?
Speaker 5 (01:22):
Oh well, if you're a rounds good morning, you're probably
still snoozing.
Speaker 6 (01:31):
Enjoying the win.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Yeah there's the boy that was a beating that was
not great.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
Uh, the sort of flailing Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the
LA Rams who are the Super Bowl favorites, and Matthew
Stafford just out there dealing.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
All night ramm it.
Speaker 5 (01:49):
Yeah, oh gosh, yeah, I can't understand how I would
be an Opher on today, Like, there's no way I
got yeah, you got one. Is this based off of
the point spreads or is it based off of the choice.
Speaker 7 (02:05):
It's both.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
It's point spreads and depending if you win money line,
then there's the choice.
Speaker 5 (02:10):
Yeah, I know the choice, but I just don't see
how it would have had to have been the point
spreads that jammed me up because I was picking the
teams that won, Like, I mean, there was easy.
Speaker 7 (02:21):
Yeah, you got the Rams.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
The Rams won, but the Eagles didn't win. They lost
out right to the Cowboys.
Speaker 6 (02:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (02:29):
Uh, the Steelers, you know, they didn't win.
Speaker 6 (02:31):
They didn't win, But that wasn't all the games.
Speaker 5 (02:35):
The Chiefs didn't win. Yeah, excuse me, the Colts did.
They did win they did win. The Colts win in
that game money line, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:46):
That was good. I was on the right side.
Speaker 5 (02:47):
Of that that had the Bengals and the Bengals ended
up losing by six, which unfortunately, but I took the
points on that right, right, But the Patriots won by six.
Speaker 6 (03:01):
I had the Patriots losing.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
No, you had the Bengals and the points with the points.
But yeah, the Patriots they covered the spread.
Speaker 5 (03:10):
They won by six. I was five and a half. Yeah,
five and a half. Go figure. I was on the
right side of that bet too, but go ahead, go
these days.
Speaker 6 (03:21):
That was it.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
That line was a five and a half when we
picked it. Yeah, Bengals Patriots.
Speaker 7 (03:27):
Yes, I don't know why you do this. What do
you mean you're a part of this?
Speaker 4 (03:30):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (03:31):
Because Joe Burrow.
Speaker 4 (03:32):
There was a thought that Joe Burrow was going to play,
and so that it moved up to seven and a half.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
All right, got it? Lock?
Speaker 6 (03:38):
All right?
Speaker 5 (03:39):
Well, I will say this hare on my takeaways. My takeaways.
The Rams are really good. The defense looks like they're
they compliment the Rams offense very well. The Philadelphia goals
(04:00):
offense is going to be a that's going to be
to their detriment, like they're they're in question.
Speaker 6 (04:09):
The Chicago Bears.
Speaker 5 (04:11):
I can't believe our team that you actually have to
talk about in the terms of potential.
Speaker 6 (04:18):
They potentially could be.
Speaker 5 (04:20):
A problem heading down the stretch and could be a
problem in the playoffs. It's pretty interesting, man, worry about that?
Why is that?
Speaker 4 (04:30):
I just did injuries? They're just not Yeah, I don't.
I don't think there's there's a lot.
Speaker 5 (04:38):
They find ways to win, man, They're continuing to find
ways to win. Not I feel like that was a
quality victory, Like how do you how do you not
measure that as Like why would you say you you
don't have to worry about them, Like I think you
certainly have to worry about them.
Speaker 7 (04:55):
I think you're bearing the lead right to hit it.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Today's really about one story and only one story getting there.
Speaker 7 (05:03):
That's right, you're right, Jonas Hell, Yeah, show them what time?
Speaker 6 (05:09):
Yeah? Yeah, that's perfect.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
By the first win, it feels like in Forever Versus,
the Las Vegas Raiders charge and Chip Kelly to get fired,
it's all about Shador Sanders Baby in his debut Dropping
Dimes speak on perfect timing.
Speaker 6 (05:28):
I didn't win that bar.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
That bar speak on a queue.
Speaker 6 (05:33):
Yeah, not winning that bet.
Speaker 7 (05:35):
We didn't. We didn't actually pick that.
Speaker 6 (05:36):
We didn't bet on that one.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Okay, yeah, we picked the good games.
Speaker 5 (05:40):
Oh because I because I actually said, I mean in
the promo. You can hear it in the promo. You
can change everything. With the Raiders, it was perfect time.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
And I mean, dude, they give up ten sacks. I mean,
I just I was seeing ghosts. It's yeah, I was
gonna saying. It's not all on Chip Kelly. He gets
the bulk of the blame, gets fired after the game.
But I mean the offensive line play, the protection, the
lack of guys getting opened. Obviously, the Browns have one
(06:09):
of the better defensive fronts too, so it's a combination
of everything. But I look at that and say, that
was one of the more awful offensive performances we've seen.
And again Chip Kelly takes the blame for it, and
he gets fired. But Gino missed some throws too, everyone pitched. Yeah,
(06:31):
but this doesn't matter because it's really about.
Speaker 7 (06:33):
Horrible check that watch bar. This is about schadure. What
you what you know about? We're in that shador?
Speaker 6 (06:44):
Hey man, it was perfect time and hell yeah, he delivered.
Daddy was there in the stands.
Speaker 4 (06:51):
You know you want to you want to hear a
little post Yeah, they're not going to per season anything.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
Do you want to post game?
Speaker 4 (07:00):
Very very very very relaxed, very calm, cool and collected.
Speaker 8 (07:05):
I'm not gonna lie. I felt very relaxed, very relaxed,
And half of that comes from preparing, studying, and knowing
I got got on my side. Everybody's not in the
best situation, but it's no excuse. You gotta go out
there and perform like there's no choice of no question.
Speaker 6 (07:21):
Nobody cares. If this is when we could prep who cares?
Speaker 9 (07:25):
You know?
Speaker 8 (07:25):
So a lot of people want to see me feel
and it ain't gonna happen.
Speaker 6 (07:29):
You know it ain't gonna happen.
Speaker 7 (07:31):
Check your watch, bar check that watch far.
Speaker 6 (07:37):
Go down swing yeah, or go up swinging?
Speaker 7 (07:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (07:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (07:43):
They A lot of people don't want to see me
telling you happen, and they want to see me fall.
Speaker 6 (07:49):
It ain't happiness. I throw these balls, they catch the ball,
we win the game. We want the wall.
Speaker 10 (07:57):
They want to see me bally. They ain't gonna happen
what they say. They want me done, and it ain't
gonna happen. I got God on my side, it ain't
gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
Yeah, let see it coming around. Bar You wanted that
guy cut, you wanted his ass.
Speaker 5 (08:19):
I wouldn't have been surprised if it happened, is what
I said. I'd say that, but it's good. I mean, listen,
by the way, perfect timing you had to be done.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Are we done with people thinking that the Browns are
trying to set him up to fail?
Speaker 7 (08:33):
Or or did the Browns set him up? The film?
He just he overcame it before.
Speaker 5 (08:37):
Actually it was stated by people in the media that
he was facing a In fact, it might have been
the odd couple.
Speaker 6 (08:45):
That said it.
Speaker 5 (08:45):
I forget who it was, but you know, basically said
he set up for a lose lose situation. Now does
that mean that lose lose situation is connected to the
brown setting him up? Maybe maybe that's put to bed,
but just best believe fellas the first opportunity people get
to blame it on something else other than it's going
(09:08):
to happen. If you're a fan, and that's that's that's inevitable.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
If you're a fund if you're a fifth round pick
and you get to start in the NFL. I don't
know that seems like a win for me, Like it
doesn't really seem like a lose lose lose situation, like
if you if you're on the roster with an opportunity
to climb up the depth chart and start a game.
I don't know how that's how that's a loss for anybody.
I don't know how that's him being put in a
(09:32):
bad spot.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
I didn't get it. I don't understand that.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
But yeah, I think Brady labeled it perfectly when we
were talking to Albert Breer, like it turned into a
culture war, like just the whole thing's bizarre.
Speaker 7 (09:46):
It's it really is bizarre.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
It's like there's like people who well, it's like they
they feel like the whole world is against them. And
I don't know if it's because of some of the
stuff he says that lead you to think that. But
let's just get a few things straight, all right. He
was much more prepared for this game as he should be.
Why he probably got every rep during the week because
(10:11):
he's now.
Speaker 7 (10:12):
In a starter's position.
Speaker 11 (10:14):
And his comment about, well, we got one week to prepare,
Oh yeah, dude, that's how the NFL works, Like you
only get one week next week to prepare for that
opponent two, Like you don't get a buy before you
play everyone.
Speaker 7 (10:26):
In two weeks to prepare. So it's it's a bit
odd always how.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
The narrative from him from everyone else comes out, Like
when you're a backup, you don't get any reps, you know,
And so last week when he went in there and
people go he wasn't prepared or to put him in
a position to fail. Every single backup in the history
of football is put in a position to fail because
you don't get any physical reps whatsoever.
Speaker 7 (10:52):
No starter is giving those reps up and.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
You're expected to go in there and play at a
level as high as the starter, and it's impossible because
you literally don't get any of those physical reps.
Speaker 7 (11:02):
It's all mental reps.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
It's all going through the script of practice every single
day during the week and then dropping back and throwing
the routes against certain defensive and defenses and imagining in
your mind what that was, and then going through the
rhythm of that, like that's what you do to prepare.
And so then when you become the start and you
have one week's time, that's what it is. Like my man,
(11:27):
I found out Monday night, Monday night that I was
gonna have to start and play on a Thursday night game.
I had one day at practice, all right, and like
I was never complaining about first start for Cleveland, Like
that's life in the NFL. So I would say this,
he looked much more prepared. I mean, look, the Raiders
are atrocious, doesn't matter. They're an NFL team. They got
(11:48):
the win. I got Tommy Reese, their play caller, did
a very good job of making them feel comfortable.
Speaker 7 (11:54):
Mixed in a lot of screens.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
His first touchdown past was a screen, and there's nothing
wrong with that, all right, when you can give a
quarterback the opportunity to get some easy completions and allow
guys to get runs after the catch. He made a
great throw on the deep shot down the field that
helps set them up for a touchdown. So it's it's
good to see that. Now there are some plays where
(12:15):
you go, okay, there's some work to do, but he's
a rookie and he's going to improve. The question becomes,
you get a win, all right? If they win again,
depending on how long Dylan Gabriel's out, will Dylan Gabriel
stay out because because Stefanski already said that when Gabriel's healthy,
he's come back and be the starter. Which if Shador
(12:36):
wins two in a row, there's some momentum building there,
Like do you think they're still gonna stick with that?
Speaker 6 (12:40):
I don't know, it's a great question.
Speaker 5 (12:44):
And again, if he's out this weekend, like, okay, they
have what the Niners coming up, that's that's a little
bit of a more difficult game, but it's a winnable game.
I don't see the Niners being crazy hard to deal
with at this point, but that would be a quality
(13:07):
that would be a quality win if this word decision
to be made and they were playing against a team
like Tennessee. I don't think if it's a two game
stretch and it's the Raiders and it's Tennessee, that you
make the decision that it is Shador to stay in
there based upon wins. I don't look at those as
(13:32):
you're a part of quality wins. I think the forty
nine ers being the next test up. If they win
against the Niners, I still think it's a quality enough
opponent where Stefanski has to have the conversation of who's
going to be the starter. You know, Dylan Gabriel didn't
separate himself in any type of manner that would say
(13:55):
he has to be loyal to him in this scenario,
and Stefanski has his own ghost that's he's running from.
In this scenario, he's underpass Russia attack right, so's he's
fighting to see if he can maintain his job position
and title with the Browns as well. So it's going
(14:15):
to be a real decision from Stefanski. It's not going
to be, oh, well, we're going with Dylan Gabriel, he's
our starter.
Speaker 6 (14:23):
He's coming.
Speaker 5 (14:23):
No, if he wins against the Shador Sanders wins against
the forty nine ers, if he's indeed playing, then yes,
that is going to be a conversation changer. It really
will be, because I would assume if he's if they're
going into the Titans game, why would you pull Shador
Sanders out if he's on the two game run, and
(14:45):
that that one win is a legitimate win.
Speaker 7 (14:50):
You know.
Speaker 4 (14:50):
It's great about the conversation, though none of it matters
because they're drafting a quarterback next year.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
Anyways, it doesn't matter. Literally, do whatever you want. I
mean that happened both o there.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
You can say that the problem is that class is
just it's not looking like it was before the season,
and so you're probably get Fernando Mendoz, who's looked as
one of the top the top quarterbacks. I think Dante
more the way he's played, he would be the guy
that I'm not sure what advice people are giving him
the quarterback at Oregon, but I love his tape, Like
(15:20):
if he came out, I think he would be the
top overall quarterback, and just having the chance to talk
with him seems mature enough to be able to handle
the moment and everything else that comes along with that.
But some people feel like he should even go back
depending on how this season finishes out. So it's gonna
be interesting to see what that class looks like because
I think everyone assumes that. But if you don't have
a guy you love and you're in that position, I
(15:43):
don't know. I mean, you're gonna be forced to take
someone that you're not overly excited about. Why not give
this whole thing another year see what happens.
Speaker 4 (15:51):
According to DraftKings, the number one pick odds, ty Simpson
is just ahead of fernand.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
Which he's a first year starter from Alabama and he's
done a good job there. But I mean, I just
you know, he'll be a part of that mix too.
There's there's some concern, man, for a lot of these
guys who are draft eligible who have the ability to
come back, and there's guys who aren't draft eligible that
they have exhausted their eligibility and they have not looked
(16:20):
like what I think a lot of teams that hope
they look for this season.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
Miles Garrett is unbelievable. He's five away, five sacks away
from the single season record, and he just continues to
do it every single year. He's going to be a
first ballot Hall of Famer. And whatever argument there was
about who's the best pass rusher in the NFL, that's over,
Like it's not even like that. That's not even a
(16:46):
discussion anymore.
Speaker 5 (16:46):
I'm not saying something because Mike is a beast man.
He's a beast impact in the gang too.
Speaker 7 (16:53):
So there's a lot of other guys that throw out.
Speaker 6 (16:54):
There for Mica right now, well, a lot of other guys.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
Well, I mean, like what had all white guys all
white guys?
Speaker 6 (17:03):
Is that.
Speaker 7 (17:06):
Geez?
Speaker 5 (17:07):
Is that you know I was paying attention to that
yesterday and and some for some strange reason, Why did
I think y'all would bring that up today? Like Hutchinson,
he's back, he's healthy, he's doing a whole lot of commercials,
he's getting sex.
Speaker 6 (17:21):
Yeah, y'all you two mm hm. We are on Fox
Sports Radio. You know that's what some people say.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
So wait, you want us to overlook some of the
other guys who've got sacks because they're white.
Speaker 7 (17:34):
Non racist.
Speaker 5 (17:36):
I think you guys what I think y'all hype it
up a whole lot more because.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
You just say, like, okay, you didn't let me finish,
like Brian Burns is obviously up there in sacks this season,
like he's done a good job.
Speaker 5 (17:47):
Like not white, but he's up there. Okay, you're out there.
You bought it. You bought a couple of moments. You
bought a couple of moments to be able to switch
it up and throw out the.
Speaker 6 (17:57):
Ones that you're thrown out right now.
Speaker 5 (17:59):
That's fine, that's fine, But I know which I was
referencing when y'all did that.
Speaker 6 (18:04):
Don't try to switch it up.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
Old, Sorry that a white pass rush out A little
more Sorry about that, you know, we're trying to celebrate
whatever wins we can get here.
Speaker 7 (18:12):
This doesn't really make any sense.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
We started the conversation off about how great Miles Garrett is,
Jonas happens to recognize at and Hudgson for some reason.
Speaker 5 (18:19):
Who, by the way, knock somebody out over him feeling
like he was called something that was out of his
whole you know, yeah, situation.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
I was just trying to acknowledge the fact that I
think TJ. Watt just had a sacked last yesterday that
surpassed is it JJ? Yeah, yeah, JJ calling that game.
Oh yeah, that's what I thought. So they knew it
was coming, of course.
Speaker 6 (18:43):
Well it's all good.
Speaker 1 (18:46):

(19:23):
listen to Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple podcasts.
Speaker 7 (19:28):
Or wherever you get your podcasts. The Heisman conversation.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
At some point people have to look at a trend
and realize there might be something to this. Do you
know every ten years of running back wins the Heisman?
So ten years ago, Derrick Henry run it for Alabama.
Ten years before that, Reggie Bush won it, and you
keep going back in ten year incredments for like sixty
or seventy years. It just so happens a running back
(19:56):
when's the Heisman?
Speaker 7 (19:58):
And I don't know that.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
Everyone's gonna say I'm biased or whatever. Jeremiah Love is
the best player in college football. He should win the
Heisman this year. You know, I've heard all sorts of
different arguments against well, look what you did versus the
top the first two opponents. I'm like, well, first off,
you know I understand they lost those games. He barely
touched the football in the Miami game, So I don't
know why you're holding that against him. The Tech San
(20:23):
m game, he had over one hundred and forty scrimmage
yards two touchdowns. That's pretty damn good in a game
that Notre Dame probably should have won. And then the
rest of the season he's bludgeting teams. I mean, he
had eight carries for one hundred and seventy one yards
and three touchdowns this past week. Like, I don't care
what Syracuse is like for eight carries to have that
sort of production every week, if there's some sort of highlight,
(20:44):
real play, I just it seems very clear to me
he's the best player in college football. He should win
the Heisman, and he's been sharing carries like That's another
thing that's interesting when you look at how like what
his workload's like. He didn't play any of the second
half this past week, so that there's times where he's
(21:05):
sharing carries throughout the course of the game, where on
other teams his stats would be even that much more.
Speaker 7 (21:13):
I just I look at and think it's it's.
Speaker 2 (21:15):
Probably gonna go to a quarterback, because that's what we've
done without Award. Fernando Mendez is the betting favorite. Julian
Sayin's up there now too. But there's not a better
player in college football than Jeremiah Love.
Speaker 4 (21:26):
Yeah, but his Fernando Mendoz have been so good that
you just ignore what Jeremiah Loves done.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
I would say, to Fernando Mendez's credit, he's gotten you know,
a couple of different instances where he've had he's had
Heisman moments, right, you can't deny him. You know, what
he's done in Happy Valley, like that final play was incredible,
the drive was incredible. Him throwing a pick and then
responding an organ you know, a very similar fashion like
he and he does have a statistical argument where he's
(21:54):
been really efficient, really good this year, you know now,
And honestly, he's been of the biggest reasons and they're
a really good team, but he's been one of the
biggest reasons they've been as good as they've been. So,
you know, again, is Jeremi Love the best player?
Speaker 6 (22:09):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (22:10):
Now, will he get the award?
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Probably not because we tend to again give it to quarterbacks,
and especially quarterbacks who are you know, on an undefeated
team ranked number two in the country. But I think
there's a big time argument to be made for for
Love and what he's done. And this is just like
a Notre Dame bias take. This is like watching all
these different running backs. There's no one else I watch
(22:31):
and and it reminds me of Reggie Bush, like and
when when Reggie touched the ball, you felt like every
single time he had a chance to score. And that's
how it feels like when you watch Jeremiah Love.
Speaker 6 (22:44):
So I praise this. I'll tell you that.
Speaker 5 (22:46):
I mean, he pulled five out of your hat and
make that Compearson, there's a listen. I've seen them. I've
seen them play. I've seen them play in person too.
He broke my heart. You know it would a bum knee. Yeah, listen.
I've watched them closely for for multitude of reasons. Obviously,
Jay One is a former Penn State running backs coach,
(23:09):
So I've been watching the running backs pretty closely this
year for for Notre Dame because since he's gotten there,
and you know, there's multiple guys on the team that
that I have relations to, so I've watched them and
yeah he has. I mean, you guys called Ashton gent
(23:29):
last year and said watch how special he is. Because
going into the season, I wasn't really paying attention to
an Ashton Ashton gent this year, I was planing paying
attention to uh to Jordan's well, not Jordan Love, but
Jeremiah Love. And yeah, I mean he's uh. He does
bring a lot of skills set, he brings breakaway speed.
(23:51):
He is elusive, but he's pretty strong. It's interesting because
he's probably in some in some regards, he's probably a
wronger runner than the comparison to to Reggie Bush. You know,
Reggie was elusive, he was slippery, he had coast to
coast speed. But you know the strength, you know, you
(24:14):
went with with Lyndale White for for the heavy heart
hart yards that was needed for for you know, for
an offense. Then they're deep in that running backs room.
I notre Dame, but Jeremiah Love can make tough runs too,
in between the tackle runs. And that's what I really
like about him is his ability to be able to
(24:35):
He's like he he doesn't go down easily, and and
it's not because he's just got good balance. I mean,
he's a pretty you could say he's an explosive power back,
which is you know, usually you don't get so many
dimensions to just one, you know, one style of back,
(24:55):
but I wouldn't say you're being biased, is I guess
lt Ultimately my conclusion would be and they would be
easy to say that you are being biased. But I mean,
while I'm not a fan all like that, you know,
just because it's Notre Dame and I just can't you know,
I'm our guy just broke broke the all time Russian
(25:16):
record in state college this past weekend.
Speaker 6 (25:19):
You know, I am biased. I am biased.
Speaker 5 (25:21):
Towards k Tron. Yeah, k Tron and Nick Singleton and
congrats to k Tron. But but I will say, as
a fan of football in general, you know, love is
he is a beast.
Speaker 3 (25:34):
I'm giving him that.
Speaker 6 (25:35):
Here's a beast.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
Not for nothing. Former guest of this show as well too, friend,
that's Treman.
Speaker 6 (25:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (25:41):
Sure, we haven't had on any Penci remix.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern three am Pacific.
Speaker 4 (25:54):
It's time for a Monday tradition here on the show
during the football season. He's our smooth operator. He's a
man who has no apologies. He'll let it rip and
anybody can get it at a moment's notice. He is
Pete Prisco, senior NFL calumnist for CBS Sports, CBS Sports
HQ analyst and you can get him on X if
(26:16):
you want some of that smoke at Prisco CBS.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
Pete, good morning.
Speaker 9 (26:20):
What's up guys? How are you hey, Pete?
Speaker 7 (26:23):
How are we doing?
Speaker 9 (26:24):
We're good, Brady, how are you guys?
Speaker 7 (26:27):
Good?
Speaker 4 (26:27):
Good Pete, Pete, I hope you don't take offense to this.
We were kind of kicking this idea around earlier. What
do we got to do to make sure that the
Jags don't get into the playoffs because they are really
not fun to watch it all, Like Jacksonville is just
not fun to watch it all.
Speaker 3 (26:46):
And I don't know.
Speaker 4 (26:47):
That was one of the more unimpressive wins of the
weekend yesterday. Somehow they survive in overtime. But what's going
on with your guy, Trevor Lawrence?
Speaker 9 (26:59):
By the way, what a that would never offend me
because I rip the shreds out of them every week.
Speaker 7 (27:04):
To the mayor of Jacksonville, Pete, stop lying.
Speaker 9 (27:07):
Well, it might be the mayor of Jacksonville, but that
doesn't mean I can't rip a good football team every
now and then, which I do. But to answer your questions,
get used to because they're going to be the playoffs.
That's happening. And you're right. I said this on our
show last night. I said that might be one of
the worst if they make the playoffs, might be one
of the worst playoff teams I've seen. And the reason
I say that is what do they do well. They
(27:30):
don't really throw the ball very well. They don't run
it very well, although they have run it well a
certain situations. They don't have great players on defense, and
they just don't do a lot of things well. So
to answer your question, I agree with you, but they're
getting in. Think about this. They play the Titans next week,
then they come home and play the Colts, who the Colts,
(27:52):
by the way, don't ever win in Jacksonville. I don't
care when Peyton Man. Nobody wins there from the Colts,
and then they play the Jets at home. Even if
you win two of the next three, and I think
they could win three of the next three, you're sitting
there with ten wins. You're going to be in the playoffs.
And so get used to it and not only that
there's actually a chance they could win that division, as
(28:13):
crazy as that sounds, because the Colt schedule is brutal
down the stretch, so get used to it. I agree
with you, They're not very good right now.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
Yeah, I'm glad you hit on the Colts game only
because it was arguably the game of the day. Chiefs
find a way of pulling it out in the end.
What do you see in that matchup?
Speaker 9 (28:31):
We saw Mahomes become Mahomes when he needed to. I mean,
I said this last week, Brady, I said, you know,
last week against Denver, he was like Michael Jordan with
an off day. I mean he was bricking shots and
missing layups and three pointers aren't going in. He threw
in red zone interception, he missed the long shots down
the field, and then when he had to do it
on Sunday he did it. I mean he threw he
(28:51):
hit those timely crossing routes, and Rice made a lot
of big plays and he was him. But there are
still major flaws on that team. You know how many facts
they got yesterday from the defensive lineman not a one none,
And so I think that's something you go, you know,
Chris Jones hasn't been Chris Jones, Carlaptus. They paid him
a lot of money, hasn't been as good as he
(29:12):
was a year ago. If they're going to be a
playoff team, they have to start getting to the quarterback too.
Mahomes bailed them out on Sunday, but they got to
start getting to the quarterback.
Speaker 5 (29:23):
I felt like, if you're talking about Patrick Mahomes being
Patrick Mahomes when he needs to be, I mean, doesn't
he need to be Patrick Mahomes before that moment where
it's like crunch time? I mean, Pete, they are third
in their own division and if the playoffs were to
start today, they're probably not in. I mean, how should
(29:48):
we be looking at this Kansas City team?
Speaker 6 (29:50):
Maybe?
Speaker 5 (29:51):
How should we be looking at where we're at with
the league now? I don't know that they're an elite
team anymore?
Speaker 9 (29:56):
Who is?
Speaker 6 (29:58):
I mean, this year's.
Speaker 9 (30:02):
The Ram right now. The Rams are the only team
that looks like they're the elite team in the league.
The rest of them don't. I mean, every one of
them has had problems and if look, I can tell
you this, the rest of the AFC doesn't want them in.
Speaker 6 (30:15):
You know that, well, I'm sure. I'm sure that yeah.
Speaker 9 (30:18):
Of course, all right, well so so, and they're not
going to win the division. That chip is sailed. I mean,
they can forget that. That's not happening. So what do
you got to do? You look at their schedule. They
have to beat the Chargers. I think I think that's
ultimately what it's going to come down to, because I
mentioned how the Juar schedules so soft, and they're going
to get in. So it ultimately will come down between
the Chiefs and the Chargers. And you look at the
(30:39):
Chargers schedule and by the way, they were awful last week,
and you look at their schedule, it's tough. And if
the Chiefs beat them, I think that's gonna be the
game that decides who gets into the postseason. So they'll
get in. And once they get in, if they go
to New England, you don't think they can win it
New England. Do you think they can win it an Indie?
They can go win anywhere. And so nobody in the
(31:01):
AFC wants them in. Everybody wants them out. But they're
gonna be as dangerous as every once they get in.
Speaker 5 (31:06):
I'm not saying they can't win Pete. But what I'm
saying is is that that's a different way of referencing
the Chiefs when the Chiefs are what we have historically
figured them out to be, right, Like, all right, you
ask it that way, but wouldn't it be asking it
the opposite way, you know, in terms of how you
(31:28):
look at the Chiefs, Like it's not about okay, It's like,
it's not an intimidation factor. Maybe I don't want to
see them or play them, but I don't think that
it's like, Okay, is the intimidation factor there?
Speaker 6 (31:42):
I don't think so.
Speaker 9 (31:44):
Well. I don't. They won a lot of close games
last year and lost a lot of close games this year,
so I don't know if the intimidation factor was even
there that last year. I think, look, you don't want
Patrick Mahomes late in the playoff game with the ball
down three against your team, no matter what, and that
that is sort of an intimidation factor. That's why you
want them out. If you're you, everybody wants them out
(32:07):
because you don't want to be in that situation come
playoff time. He's the.
Speaker 3 (32:13):
Oh no, no, did.
Speaker 7 (32:15):
He get.
Speaker 10 (32:19):
That might have been.
Speaker 3 (32:22):
Set? We lost you for a second, pet.
Speaker 9 (32:27):
I'm here. I'm here, I'm selling. I'm saying. Look, I
don't I don't think you want to you want them
in the playoffs because you said they don't have the
same killer instinct or whatever. Well, they've lost the life
they want a lot of They won a lot of
close games last year, remember, and then they haven't won
them this year. But they got right in the playoffs
last year until the super Bowl. I think they can
(32:47):
get right in the playoffs that they get in this year.
They're not as good defensively, They're certainly not as good
as they were a year ago.
Speaker 4 (32:53):
Peter, if I'm not mistaken, and this is not to
take a shot because I had Baldi, Yes it is, Well,
it's not because I had Baltimore going to the super
Bowl and they don't look all that hot either. Did
you have Buffalo going to the super Bowl? And if so,
what do you make of what is happening there? Even
though you know that was Thursday's game. I think people
are still looking at the Bills with a side eye,
(33:15):
going what is going on there with Josh Allen company?
Speaker 9 (33:18):
And they should be and they should be. Look, they
can't stop the run, which is a major problem. And
it's been a problem for you know, three or four
years there. And when you can't stop the run, you
get run on. That's an issue. Offensively the other night
they were terrible and they didn't protect the quarterback. He
didn't play that well. I think they you know, they
(33:38):
don't dictate to a defense anymore, which is I think
what they need to do. Even though they keep saying, oh,
they don't have any wide receivers, I don't care, you've
got to go dictate to that defense. They allowed that
defense to dictate to them and when they ultimately ended
up costing them because they beat the daylight that of them.
So I think they have issues on offense. They don't
scare down the field at all, and I think, you know,
(33:58):
it's kind of put on him and he's pressing in
the offensive line, which had been you know, look, they
didn't give up any facts last year. They're getting given
up a lot of facts now and that's become an issue.
So I'm with you, Can they get it right? Sure
they can. In then AFC. What team in the AFC
do you look at and you go, oh boy, I
wouldn't want to play them come come January. None of
them not one. There's not one team in that entire
(34:20):
conference where you sit there and say, oh, I don't
I don't want to play them. Would you scared to
go to Denver and play that team? I don't think so.
Are you scared to go play Indianapolis? I don't think so,
And so I don't. I don't think Get in New England.
I don't think you're scared of anybody. So just get
in and get it right down the stretch.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
Interesting A, Peter don't want to ask you about Jaj
McCarthy and the Vikings. You know, obviously there are seasons
kind of slipping away to the wayside with their loss
the Packers, But what do you see from him? I
feel like it's there's been a lot of questions about
what he can be, will be for that team, and
if he.
Speaker 7 (34:53):
Can be the guy.
Speaker 9 (34:55):
Well, he's answering my question. What I thought about him
before the draft? I didn't like I didn't like his game.
I didn't that was one guy. I told you that, Brady.
I told you all leading into the draft process there
was something there, something wired wrong.
Speaker 6 (35:09):
What was it?
Speaker 7 (35:09):
What was wrong about him? What did you see? Tell us?
Speaker 9 (35:12):
Well, I mean, think about it, he's the whole you know.
Everybody keeps saying, well, he was a winner. He went
to IMG Academy. I could be the quarterback at IMG
Academy and win games. Then he went to Michigan. He
had one hundred and twenty first round picks on that
team and twenty two second round picks and fourteen third
round picks and he won. Okay, he won by hand
of the ball. And as far as being wired that
(35:33):
the old meditation before the game, well maybe he stopped
meditating and start read the playbook because he doesn't know
what the hell he's doing, right. I mean, the bottom
line is he just isn't very good. And I don't think.
I don't think. Don't we always sit here and say, wow,
Kevin O'Connell, what a quarterback fixer he is. Look what
(35:56):
he did for Sam Darnold, Daniel Jones. He goes to India,
he was in that system, and look what he did
for him. He hadn't done it for that guy. So
what's the problem is that guy?
Speaker 6 (36:07):
You are what you are?
Speaker 9 (36:08):
Pete. You guys think he's good? Do you think he
has does he show anything that would make you think
he's gonna be a good NFL quarterback.
Speaker 7 (36:15):
He has his moments, Pete, I wanted to go to
another game Falcons.
Speaker 9 (36:19):
The quarterback apologist, the quarterback apologies has showed up there.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
The Falcon Saints. Falcons got a nice win. Kirk Cousins
taken over at quarterback pe he wouldn't see that.
Speaker 6 (36:28):
One nice wine.
Speaker 9 (36:30):
Yeah, well, the Saints were terrible and somebody needs to
teach Kellen Moore that when you're down sixteen to seven
in the fourth quarter, jok to take a field goal
anytime you want to from point blank range, rather than
go for it all the time to cut it to thick.
By the way, yesterday was an exhibit a on coaching
jack assery. That's what it was yesterday across the league.
These guys have no earthly idea what the hell they're
(36:51):
doing when it comes to game management. And he was
involved in that too. Look the Falcons, Kirk Cousins made
some good throws. He wasn't You could see him early
in that game. He wasn't jumpy kirk Cousin. He didn't
have that players look on his face, and he was
going to make some throws down the No, of course not.
It's the same. Not a big.
Speaker 2 (37:08):
Couldn't you make the case every game is a big
game from here on out if they want to have
a chance of making the playoffs.
Speaker 9 (37:12):
Yeah, they're not making the playoffs, so.
Speaker 7 (37:15):
Every game is kind of a big game where you
can't lose anymore.
Speaker 9 (37:17):
Right, Well, no, that's not playing the Saints on the
road in a game where either team has a winning
record is not a big game. Break So no, you don't.
I know where you're going. It wasn't a big game
for him. That's why Fried played well. If it's a
big game, I gets a good team with the chips
on the line, you know what's going to happen, just
like I know what's going to happen. He's gonna wilt
in the moment because you are what you are, you
(37:38):
are you are. It always evens out. It always evens out.
And once in a blue moon and his name was
Tom Brady at the five blodge, But other than that,
it always evens out.
Speaker 5 (37:48):
The Chicago Bears haven't equaled out to what they have
been in years past. How you feel about them right now?
Speaker 9 (37:54):
They finally be the team with a winning record, So
that's that's a big step for them. And look Ben
Johnson has done a nice job quarterback. Look, he's improved,
There's no question about it. He's become a better player.
He still makes some really dumb decisions like holding the
football in the end zone, but he's become a much
better quarterback than what he was. And I give Ben
Jonson a lot of credit for that. And again, they
(38:14):
lead the division. Do we know how good they are?
Do you think that team? Oh my gosh, I wouldn't
want to play the Bears. Mason Rudolph almost beat the
Bears on Sunday. In fact, he had a lead in
the third quarter, you know. And so no, I'm not
if I'm a team in that division or anywhere else,
I'm not concerned about that. But I'm not concerned about anybody.
Nobody's any good. There's not any other than the Rams
(38:36):
that are playing well. And by the way, and by
the way, the Seahawks, the Seahawks could have with four turnovers,
could have beaten the Rams the other day, and the
forty nine ers went in there and did beat the Rams.
So again, I don't think anybody's unbeatable right now. If
you had to ask me, the Rams look like the
best team. No question about it.
Speaker 4 (38:53):
Pete Prisco, senior NFL columnists for CBS Sports CBS Sports
HQ analysts, joining us here on Fox Sports Radio. Get
him on ex at Prisco, CBS.
Speaker 3 (39:01):
What do you make of the.
Speaker 4 (39:04):
Cincinnati Bengals kind of you know, moving stuff around and
trying to make the math work on them potentially having
a shot at making a run at the postseason, It
still feels like the defense is a problem, despite Joe Burrow,
who got two full practices in not returning to action
against New England yesterday.
Speaker 9 (39:23):
Yeah, and I don't think three and eight. I mean
that's hard, you know. I don't think they're gonna they're
making a run to go win, decate the playoff berth
and get in the playoffs. I don't see that happening.
But if he's healthy and he wants to play, that
he plays. I mean, that's that's simple. I don't have
any problem with that. You know, people keep saying, well,
shut him down, shut him down. If he's cleared healthy
to play, he wants to play, go play. I don't.
(39:45):
But as far as the Bengals making a run, you
can forget about that. And if they don't get in
is Zach Taylor in trouble. I mean that that's the
next step of that. But he also has the excuse
that he didn't have his quarterback. So it'll be interesting
to see the thing play out. But I don't they're
not making the playoffs with Joe Burrow playing the rest
of the season. No Champs.
Speaker 6 (40:07):
Pete.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
Let's keep kind of going on the quarterback carousel here.
Speaker 7 (40:11):
Do you have any concerns just as things move forward
with the Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 2 (40:15):
It feels like with the Patriots that they keep winning,
they might run away with that AFC East And what
is really this Bills team?
Speaker 7 (40:23):
You know where they're at right now.
Speaker 2 (40:24):
I just feel like they're struggling to find that playmaker
on the outside that I feel like they're desperately needed.
Speaker 9 (40:31):
By the way, the AFC playoffs are going through Foxborough,
you can book that. Look at their schedule, look at
their record. The AFC playoffs will be going through Foxborough,
so get ready for that. And again they're gonna have
the number one seed. It's going to be in New England.
Are you scared of that? I don't think so.
Speaker 6 (40:47):
So.
Speaker 9 (40:47):
I think it's wide open. This is the most wide
open playoffs we've ever had. Can the Bills get hot
and get to the super Bowl? Absolutely, but they better
start doing things differently. You know, when you keep doing
the same things over and over again, you're not going
to win it. I think you mentioned it, Brady. They
don't have anybody down the field who can scare. Nobody
scares down the field, and that limits what you can
do offensively. But you know what else limits what you
(41:07):
can do offensively being predictable and not dictating tempo to
the other team. And I think they got to get
back to letting Josh Allen throw it around on early
downs because your defense can't stop the run. And the
best way to fix a defense or help a defense
that can't stop the run is to get ahead, take leads,
play with leads. If you don't do that, they're gonna
(41:28):
run it and run it and run it and run
it some more, and you're gonna have all kinds of issues.
So can they get hot at the right time, Yes,
Do they need to do it right now? Absolutely? Will
they be in the playoffs? Yes? And will they be
a dangerous playoff team because of him? Yes?
Speaker 6 (41:42):
I'm good. Oh.
Speaker 5 (41:44):
I feel like Pete has answered more than enough questions
coming from me, So go ahead.
Speaker 7 (41:49):
I've got a question. I got a question for Pete.
Speaker 2 (41:50):
All right, holiday's coming up, Pete. What is the worst
side dish to Thanksgiving meal? Like, what's the most overrated
side dish that comes Thanksgiving?
Speaker 9 (42:01):
Well, first off, this one's never made it to my table,
but I see the commercials for it all the time.
What the hell is the green bean casse roll with
the onion crap in it? What is that garbage? You
know what I'm saying?
Speaker 6 (42:13):
What is that?
Speaker 9 (42:13):
What the hell is that? Well? I like green beans
and by the way, what what people don't know? Italians
will throw tomato sauce on green beans and that'll be
like a side dish. You know that, Right in the
Italian household, you throw tomato sauce on anything and everything
and making a meal. That's just what they do. That's
(42:34):
what we've always done. I mean, you can think of anything.
My grandfather picked dandylion flowers and right field that we
were little kids and made a meal out of that.
I can promise you and everybody, all the kids, all
the kids. Yeah, we're playing we're playing baseball at the
park and all these give everybody goes, what's your grandfather
doing out in right field, and I go, oh, no,
he's out there picking the dandylion flowers, because that's the
(42:55):
delicacy there, fry them up, and that's an Italian delicacy.
That's true. Look it off, candylion flowers, I'm telling you.
And then so yeah, but Brady, the all time, the
all time worst side dish is Brussels sprouts.
Speaker 5 (43:13):
No way, you are offensive, Like, that's strike too, bro Man,
strike things.
Speaker 9 (43:20):
They're like little rubbery balls. They're terrible, but they're awful.
What is that?
Speaker 6 (43:25):
How do you know about little rubbery balls? Pete? Like,
I mean, let's be here. If you prepare Brussels sprouts.
Speaker 5 (43:31):
The right way, generally grilled, they're they're really really you
could pass.
Speaker 9 (43:37):
This is the chef LeVar over here.
Speaker 5 (43:39):
Come on the honey glaze, honey glaze on them.
Speaker 6 (43:42):
There.
Speaker 9 (43:42):
Hey, I went two for two. I went two for
two with my side.
Speaker 6 (43:46):
This.
Speaker 9 (43:46):
What's the worst side dish, LaVar? If you're mister chef LeVar.
Speaker 5 (43:50):
I think the worst side dish, the most repulsive side
dish ever in the history of Thanksgiving is crane cranberry sauce.
Speaker 6 (43:59):
Then like repulsive, it won't fit it doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 5 (44:06):
The can can comes out of the can, it starts jiggling.
Speaker 6 (44:11):
It's like, what the heck?
Speaker 5 (44:12):
Like you gonna slice it up into little circles like wide, Like,
I don't get it.
Speaker 9 (44:16):
The cane, the can one is better than ones with
the real ones, I think. And I'm look, I don't
love cranberry sauce either. I think I'll be honest with you,
I think the Thanksgiving meal is kind of overrated.
Speaker 3 (44:25):
Agreed.
Speaker 5 (44:27):
We did Thanksgiving dinner here because we got like a
lot of games we're doing this weekend, so like like
on the move, volleyball, football, whatever. And and my mother
in law did bourbon soaked sugar glazed cranberries, not cranberry sauce,
but cranberries. And I gotta be honest with you, not
(44:49):
only were they really really like addictive, like you kept
grabbing them like peanuts, but you got a nice little
buzz off of it after you ate a few of them.
Speaker 6 (44:59):
It it did multiple tricks.
Speaker 9 (45:02):
It was to make two glasses of vodka you drinking
between good, I drink tequila.
Speaker 6 (45:07):
I drink I drink tequila. I drink tequila.
Speaker 9 (45:10):
Hey Pete.
Speaker 6 (45:11):
But I will say and it was not a side dish.
Speaker 5 (45:14):
It was just it was there on the table as
like you know, hand food while you were watching the game.
Speaker 6 (45:20):
So it wasn't a sad dish, but it was good.
Speaker 9 (45:22):
By the way.
Speaker 6 (45:23):
What your.
Speaker 9 (45:24):
True questions? I'm asking this question honestly. Would you rather
have a really good pizza or Thanksgiving dinner? Seriously?
Speaker 5 (45:31):
If we're being truthful, Hair, i gotta say, because I
feel like people put more effort into the certain dishes
on Thanksgiving.
Speaker 6 (45:41):
I'm going Thanksgiving.
Speaker 5 (45:42):
Like like, I'm not a big mac and cheese eater
most days, like I could do with or without it.
But I feel like, for some strange reason, when people
make mac and cheese on Thanksgiving, they go harder. They
make sure it tastes like the type of mac and
you want to have. I'm a big cabbage guy. Like
(46:03):
you said you don't like Brussels, so I guess you're
not in on cabbage. But I love cabbage too. I'm
going with I'm going with Thanksgiving. I'm going Thanksgiving. I
like pizza, but I'm going with Thanksgiving.
Speaker 2 (46:16):
Man, I'm gonna go with pizza. I'm with you. I
think it's one of the more overrated. I mean, like
let's be real. I'd rather have a steak, any sort
of chicken, a nice pork chop, lamb chop, most things
over turkey. Like I literally think, outside of maybe a sandwich,
I eat turkey once a year dark Thanksgiving.
Speaker 6 (46:37):
Turkey is the bomb? Come on, bro, white meat turkey
not so much.
Speaker 7 (46:42):
I don't care what turkey it's not good.
Speaker 6 (46:47):
You gotta go. It's it's juicy, it's flavorful, it's good.
Speaker 9 (46:52):
On a turkey sandwich. Turkey's good on carving it off.
The bird just kind of average as best. Let's be real.
Speaker 4 (47:00):
I got one one more football question for you. It's
our favorite time of the show. What was the bet
that you lost that you were on the right side
of yesterday.
Speaker 9 (47:11):
I'm trying to think what what ones say?
Speaker 7 (47:14):
Philly in Dallas.
Speaker 9 (47:15):
Tell me Philly, I picked Dallas, so I had I
had the Cowboys the one I lost that Seattle. I
think they got the Omeal Myle night Meal mile late
in the game. Remember I think it was twelve when
we picked it. It was twelve and a half and
it was thirteen, and they got like four fourth down
conversions and then got the Omeal mile with thirty seconds.
Speaker 4 (47:34):
But them Baltimore Detroit, big favorites that couldn't put it
together yesterday.
Speaker 9 (47:40):
Well, I mean, but at least Seattle was actually covering
at one point. The other two were never covering. I
mean they didn't they Neither one of those two teams
played very well in those games.
Speaker 7 (47:49):
What exactly is the omeal mile.
Speaker 9 (47:52):
It's like when like if you have a team like
like say I picked I picked Seattle and they were
favored by twelve and a half. They went in by thirteen,
and there's like no time left in the game, and
you go, oh me, oh my, I could see it coming,
oh me, oh myle me o myle, and you see
it and then you go boom. They score with twenty
five seconds left. The touchdown that means nothing, but it ruins.
(48:13):
It ruins the pit.
Speaker 3 (48:14):
Little little backdoor action.
Speaker 9 (48:17):
Yeah yeah, oh me, oh myo. We always called that
in meo myle, yeah, oh oh my.
Speaker 4 (48:25):
