what you thought it was going to be. Right.

game started.

And then the rest of the game took place and
it was like whoa, uh yeah, TCU had a ten
to seven lead and then there was a pick six
and it was just like.

Boom, and they needed some glucto. That's the sound effect
you're making, you know. I've heard that before us for
something else. So if they came out really hard in
that first that first that first set of plays, that
first drive, they needed some I needed some assistance after that, Yeah,

that was not ideal.

I was still kind of I was look, North Carolina
plus three and a half allow in it. That's my fault.

I would not have selected North Carolina for a few reasons.
I didn't select the game, but had I, I would
have gladly laid the points. Even though you don't love
three and a half as a number. TCU and Sonny Dikes,
I mean, this is not like a program that's an
upstart or in some sort of rebuild mode. Outside of
the speculation of Josh over their quarterback being a furry

that dude can sling it. So I think there was
so many more questions around North Carolina and what this
is going to look like. And you can sense from
Bill Belichick. I know people wrote it off as this
is just Bill Belichick saying typical Bill Belichick things. But
when he was like, we just hoped to take care
of the football and uh, fundamentally sound, I was like,

all right, maybe with their ass kicked. Because this is
a team that's again not that long removed from playing
for a national championship. TCU has some pieces and they
are kind of reloading. They try to make a run
the Big twelve this year.

Uh Bill Belichick did speak after did Yeah, he did,
and I want to sound like this.

Speaker 6 (04:30):
Oh well, it was a great, uh you know, great
atmosphere here for the game tonight. You know, fans were
at tremendous injury energy walk and you know we played
competitively but then just couldn't sustain it. So obviously we
have a lot of work to do. You know, we
did do a better job all the way around, coaching,
playing all three phases of the game. Just wasn't up

to what it needs to be. And I know we're
a lot better than that. So we'll need to you know,
need to work on those things and show it on Saturday.

But you know, get TCU credit they came in, did
a good job, and they were clearly the better team tonight.
You know, they deserve to win and and uh they
did it decisively.

Yeah, if you if you think about the debut, if
you think about the debut of Coach Prime, they played
TCU and beat well, yeah, but that game could have
gone either way. They beat the close on. Yeah, they
did what I'm saying, like it was right there at
their place. It wasn't like I was like, oh no,
they'd be No, it could have gone either way. I remember,

I remember a couple of things we were there for.
I will say, you know, Prime took a l this
this week. Two.

All these guys, you know, Mike Vick, DeShawn Jackson, I mean, Eddie,
George fared well, well, you know I think that was
maybe about it, like for the high profile famous former
player quarterbacks, I mean or or you know, coaches.

And I don't know you only got one quarterback.

I mean I met coaches, I.

I think it was sunny Dikes was saying, uh, they
were talking.

About it during the game, they thought about last year
or the year before last year. Year.

Well, he just said that they didn't handle the playing
Deon Sanders or coach.

The magnitude they lost. They lost in the magnitude of
the game. They didn't lose the game.

And you know, he kind of took a little bit
from that, but everybody will. By the way, I didn't
realize the significance because I remember when it happened, but
I don't know that we spent a lot of time
talking about it. Max Johnson's the severity of his injury
that he suffered, the leg injury. They showed the scar
going up his entire like the side of his leg

by his femur Brad Johnson's son, who was there, and
he got into the game because North Carolina's starter got
hurt and threw a touchdown pass and I didn't realize
he almost lost his leg. I mean, I remember it
happening because it was week when it was in the
opener last year. But they showed the scarring last night

during the game and it was wild to look at.
So that was, you know, at least one feel good
moment for North Carolina. I have to forgive me everything else.
I was watching Gilded Era bad then.

Damn, I was out. I didn't see the finish of
the games. Sorry, guys, you were watching what the Guilt Era?

You know, I don't know what that I don't you

Yeah, it's it's like an old school movie, Gilded Age. Yeah,
it's pretty dope, very inspiring, you know, just how they
did things back then, you know, set up of the
cribs and you know, it was just pretty pretty interesting
set up of the cribs. Yeah. I mean, it wasn't
a great time for for my my group of people,

but we were making we were making moves a little
bit though, you know, but it's still inspired. You know
what about lease type of people. These type of people
were hanging out with my type of people. They were
probably in the kitchen or handling buggy duties, you know,
cart you know, make sure that the ladies were were

getting on the you know, to their destinations by horse
carriage properly. I don't think Lee's people were the main
characters in the show, is what I'll say. You know, yeah,
so it's a good show, and it was more interesting
to get back to watching that and you know, fighting
for social status and trying to build your railroad and

all that stuff, versus watching the end of the North
Carolina TCU game. That was the point that I was sloppy.
I needed to stimulate my mind and that U n
C t TCU game was not doing that anymore. Noting
that no, no, it wasn't it still a.

Fun I thought, there's a lot of games that follow
in that category.

Speaker 4 (09:34):
For there there were yours wasn't one of them, though.
That was an intriguing guy. That was a good guy.
It's funny.

Like to recap week one, I would just generally say
there was a lot of good games, a lot of
a lot of fun. I think we learned a lot
about teams, even in the losses like that was one
to me where somehow I feel more optimistic about Notre
Dame following that loss, in part because like some of
the up as fixable. You know, there's different things like

I saw from that game where you've got a new
defensive coordinator and Chris ash for Notre Dame and they're
mixing in different guys in different spots because I think
they're trying to kind of settle in on who's going
to be the guy and there's that or even what
the rotation is going to be on defense. So like
those things are easily fixable. The offensive line first time
going up against with that group, going up against a

really good group of edge rushers for Miami, there were
some you know, there's some guys who will come back
to or starters who weren't there. But you're trying to
figure all that stuff out. The one thing though, is
that QB CJ.

Carr is a baller.

Like that young man was poised, He was tough, made
plays when he needed to let his team right back
into it to have a shot there at the end.
I know people were like, you know, people were frustrated,
Jeremi I love didn't get more touches, which I look
at it and say, I get the frustration. The problem
is he had over twenty five percent of the targets
slash touches.

And thumping him too. I mean there was Yeah, I didn't.

Expect, but everyone's better every He was getting.

Up slow though, I didn't like it, like late in
the game, so it's too early. Is that is that
his personality to get up slow?

he had a really nice series where he drove right

was concerned for him. But if that's not how Jim
Brown used to get up too though exactly like he
was hurt though, all right, that's exactly. I was like
concerned for him, like dang, now really hitting him.

If you if you go and I know we're going
to get into the Texas side of it in that
lost to Ohio State, but if you're well, if you're
a team that's got the balls, you got to talk
about it real time.

Yeah, because if you if you go on the road.

Week one, especially in some of these environments like and
you can you know it Alabama a whole other conversation Alabama.

On the road in week one in a difficult place
like that, Like it's not like Notre Dame one on
the road.

didn't plenty one. We did a great win. You didn't
play it. We didn't all right about the big boys.
Then I was talking about the peak four. I'm just
saying you I'll get the count of the back. We're
not going to talk Penn State because I break up
Penn State. We had a fine weekend.

I was done with the game at half to I
was actually done with that exactly the USC game.

We're excited for them to play. So at some point

you go on the road, you dare to go on
the road and take on, you know, a quality opponent
in week one.

Yep, you deserve a lot of credit for that.

That's why. Look the L s US win over Clemson.
Brian Kelly was winless in season openers with l s U.
They five straight as a program. The fact that they
won that game even better. But if they lost that
one too, I'd be like, listen. But they went on
the road. That's a difficult environment. Same for Notre Dame.
That crowd was juiced up on whatever they were juiced

up on. You know, they was the Sugar Texas, the
pink thing, all that. You know, they had all kinds
of stuff going on. Man, Mike Irvin was leading the charge.
Mike was leading the chart, boy, because.

Turned up my back, my knees, my shoulders, my neck.
Everything was hurt watching Mike jump around the way that
he was doing, Like, God, bless, I love my team.
I can't do all that jumping around. Man.

That's sorry. It's not for the first game at least.

Maybe I might lose it in the championship round, but
god dang, not the first game out, Mike, Come on,
save some of that energy.

Oh fun weekend though, fun weekend. That was a great weekend.
It was, It really was.

Can we have the conversation though about arts, because look,
he started games before, and everyone acts like that was
his first start. It was his first road start. It
was his first you know time attempting a pass on
the road. But people act like, oh, this was his
competition back in high school. This is why he struggled
so much. Like dude, he played throughout the course of

the playoffs. It wasn't like he hasn't been in in
bigger moments like the kid truth is very capable of
being a quarterback that's the defendant title holder, like well,
but but but that's that's one thing. They lost fourteen
guys the NFL Draft. They had eight new starters on defense,
so right, so, and they have a new defensive coordinator,

NEWK coordinator. There's a lot of changes. Like, I don't
chalk that up to well, that's the defending national because
there's not many guys coming back from that team. I mean,
they have a new starting quarterback for that for that matter.

Speaker 8 (15:54):
But what I would say is what I would say
is this, it's not just a state like map Atricia
came in and literally did a master's class on how to.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
Make a quarterback feel about as uncomfortable and lack confidence
as anyone I've ever seen. Like his ability to kind
of put in coverages and disguise looks and pressures to
get to the point where where every time march Manding
dropped back and I went through every throw, every play yesterday,
there's nowhere to go to the football like. There was
a few times where, you know, he made some throws

(16:28):
in particular, once he finally found a rhythm there more
than a two minute drive at the end of the game,
the touchdown, passed the ball out the sideline to the
tight end. There was a couple in there. But for
the most part, like his fundamentals weren't great, he seemed
like he was completely off rhythm, off timing with what
the offense called to do. You know, sometimes he got
lazy with it. Everyone's gonna go back to the throw
to Ryan Wingoling on the shallow cross where he threw

it behind him. There's no doubt he forced some footballs
in there too. But go back and watch the tape
like I'm not I'm not sitting there saying, oh that man,
he missed a bunch of throws or missed bunch of reads.
There was nothing there for him. Like that is as
good a defense as you will see the entire season,
especially for a big game. Give Ahouse State credit and

the pass us. What was interesting about is, you know,
people tend to kind of confuse when you say something
like this. They were rushing to contain him. They weren't
necessarily rushing to sack him first, if you understand what
I'm saying. Yeah, like they were rushing to make sure
that he didn't get outside the pocket, and they try
to suffocate it out around him. And it was interesting

(17:32):
watching it on tape because you could tell he wanted
to leave the pocket, he wanted to try to get
out and run, and he felt like he was like
he couldn't really see he couldn't really get out where
he wanted to, you know, be able to see the
field a little bit better. And I think it was
really unsettling for him. And so for that game and
that moment to have a performance like that, Yeah, it looks.

(17:53):
It looks crappy. Everyone's gonna come at you now that
we live in a world of social media where any
swinging Joe can make a comment. I hope he puts
the blinders in your muffs on. I hope he's able
to overcome it because the kids got talent ability, and
I think this is still a really good team. Like
the one thing I'd say about all through the top
ten matchups is those six teams, because there's three of
those games they're all going to be a playoff team.

Like I can promise you that I would be shocked
if LSU, Clemson, Ohio State, Texas Suntard Day in Miami
don't make the playoff because all like those teams, like Wall,
those games looked it looked like big boys playing. It
looked like a different level of the sport than everything
else that I watched this weekend.

They definitely showed that they can bounce back, especially Notre Dame.
You seeing their personality last year. I've said it before.
If you're going to lose a game, lose it early.
If you want to lose a big game, lose it early.
Especially with the expanded playoffs, Ye, lose it early. It's
not as punitive as it was. You know, if you

were counting it.

It really doesn't matter that much. I mean, Ohio State
took the worst loss they've had in the ohastan Michigan Robi.
They still made it.

I just say lose it early because you get it
out of the way. You get the pressure of being
undefeated out of the way. You could sit there and say,
you know, we got to get better and how did
we lose that? Or or that was a really good
game that we played and it's just early we lost it.

Let's get better.

I think it gives you like a different mindset knowing
that you got that loss out of the way, because
in college sports, especially in football, there's this idea of
going undefeated, and sometimes going undefeated is more becomes more
of a focal point than winning games. And I know
that might sound like weird, like what you mean if

you go undefeated, I means you win. No, I'm saying
the ultimate goal, like what Ohio State was able to do,
or even though There Dame was able to do to
even play for the national title. The ultimate goal is
to make it to the end and be able to
play for a national title. It doesn't say you got
to be undefeated to do that, but I think sometimes
there's unnecessary pressure that mounts up when you have an

undefeated season goal. It's like a no no picture going right.
It's like the closer you get to that no no
hitter going on, not no picture, but no hitter, the
closer you get. It's really not about your effectiveness of
making sure like you do what you need to do
so when it's surviving to trying to get it right.
So I mean get it out of the way. I mean,

play a big game. You reaped the spoils of winning
early on, but that could be false. Just like losing
early on you you garner all of the venom and
all of the hate that comes your way when you
lose a big one or you lose one early, but
you have a whole entire season to play your way
out of it. So I mean, I don't I don't
see it as a bad thing. It's just all about

the leadership and how the coaches and the players respond
to having a first you know, first week where they
lose the game.

The Arch Manning hype train he was it was going
to be next to impossible for him to live up to.

All the hype that was going into it.

Like you had people pointing out all the Heisman odds
are changing mid game and this is going it's like
Jesus who started that? Like who started this whole all?
You know, Arch Manning's going to be the gonna win
the highest Man's for.

What it's worth, Jonas, if a kid is going to
have a real legitimate shot of winning the Heisman, there
has to be somewhat of a little bit of a
hype train. Even if it's not a super large one,
and like you want to keep them under wraps, you
still got to have a hype train coming into it.
I mean that's what you want to have. You want
the spotlight on you if that's what you're going for,

and sometimes you don't ask for it. It's just a
part of the way you played or what's connected to you.

Or it could build up during the season, not before
the season actually starts, and we're talking about.

That's fair too, but but there might be a guy
that's ahead of you based off of the hype train
they had coming into the season.

By the way, what was the scene like there in Columbus?

Speaker 3 (21:52):
How is incredible? I Mean it felt like as big
of a college football game as I've ever been around.
Been a part of, like the crowds, the patient just
the way I think the intensity in the stadium. I
mean you can feel it. I mean obviously it was
a low scoring game. Also like how State ran away
with it, so you know, as tex just kind of
started amount of comeback and make it really interesting in

there in the end, you know, we're some of the
guys are watching going man, I got a flight to
catch but I'll gladly stay for this if it goes
into overtime. You know what the type of atmosphere it was,
but it was it felt like a playoff atmosphere. I mean,
it felt different than other games you're part of. So
it's you know, it's hard to describe to people, but

it's like college football has this feel where just it
feels there's something about the authentic, genuine feel, nostalgic feel, tradition,
all the things that go along with it. This was
like another level above that. And I don't know how
how to put it into words, but I guess if
you were a part of any of the playoff games
last year, like it felt like there was a lot
on the line, and obviously no one's getting eliminated right now,

but it felt like it was about the Big ten
versus the SEC. It felt like it was about arch
Manning's heisman opportunity, your heisman chances. It felt like it
was about an O High state team that feels like
they are good enough to repeat for a national championship.
It felt like every single narrative that was out there
that was a part of this game, Like you're saying

how the heisman odds are changing during it felt like
all that was going on at once. That's how big
it felt.

Yeah, the presentation on TV was great. Like it it
felt massive. When you were doing the pregame and my
son walks in the.

He's watching the games, watching the pregame, and I'm like,

are you feeling after Week one? I jump in there
and ask, you know, having the double call, seeing what
took place, ranked teams on ranked teams, all that stuff.
How did you feel about Week one of college football?

Speaker 2 (27:22):
Well?

Speaker 10 (27:23):
I had two games to call, so that was a
lot of it. And I guess the two big stories
in the offseason, the ones that we were bludgeoned with,
you know, other than all the crappy news about college
football that we have to deal with with the portal
and the nil stuff. And I thought that the nil

(27:44):
talk would be over now that the season started, but
we have Gundhy and Dan Lanning going back and forth,
which is a lot of fun. But I mean the
big story was what Arch Manning, who literally looked like
Uncle Rico and then saw that and then Bill Belichick
like those two stories the two biggest stories of the offseason.

(28:07):
Both those guys came out and laid like a gigantic egg.
So I it's always interesting and we always overreact to
Week one. And I'm not a quarterback expert, but arch
Manning didn't look good. I guess I'm more of a
quarterback expert than if you're not a football analyst. But

(28:28):
I'm not a quarterback type, as you guys know, so
I'm not sure how correctable a lot of his problems were.
But he did not look great and kind of reminded
me of when Sarksian brought in Nate Montana, Joe Montana's
son out an Oaks Christian, and he was supposed to
be the next end All be All and I think
he only started one game. Now, I don't think arch

(28:50):
Manning is going to be that bad. He's probably no
one's ever as bad or as good as they look
in their first game, but or their first starter, or
in a real adverse situation like that, and that was
a very adverse situation. And then the Belichick thing was
really interesting because everybody was ready to anoint him after

(29:11):
the first drive on Twitter, they got blown up by
Sunny Dyke's team. So that part of it I thought was,
there's always great stories. It's always fun, it's always chaotic.
I'm always grateful to have the games back so we
have something to talk about that's not as unsavory as
other things that we talk about, like I'm in.

Speaker 7 (29:31):
Love with a stripper or sellow balls rap career.

Speaker 10 (29:36):
But just from Afar, everything looked like a lot of fun,
a lot of fanfare, a lot of a lot of
what we like about college football. I was an East
Lansing and there was beautiful weather, and all the kids
were back in school, and the stadium was full, and
there was a lot of exuberance and excitement.

Speaker 7 (29:55):
I mean, what more could we ask for if you
enjoy the sport? So I did.

Speaker 10 (30:00):
I did enjoy Week one, but I thought it was
kind of ironic that we wasted all that air on
two things that just absolutely flopped right off the bat.
Which isn't to say that that will be you know
how it is, and we all understand if you're inside
the sport, we all understand what week one is and
what an overreaction to something.

Speaker 7 (30:20):
Really really good or really really bad is.

Speaker 10 (30:24):
But at the same time, he arch Manning looked really
bad and so did unc. So I guess those were
my two bigger takeaways other than the fact that I'm
grateful to have the sport back.

Speaker 3 (30:35):
Yeah, yeah, why do you think people tend to few
the negative? Like I went back watched every play and
did arch miss some throws? Yeah, he probably missed three
or four. He made some good throws that he didn't
really get any credit for. And the one thing I'd
say is like there was nowhere to go with the football.
I mean, there was nowhere for him to run. That

(30:56):
it seemed very evident that Matt Patricia had coached the
defensive front up that if you couldn't get a sack
on him, just collapse the pocket around him, but don't
let him out, like, don't let him get his legs involved.
And he seemed to be very uncomfortable and like out
of rhythm because of that. Like there's times where we
were down there on the field watching him and you

(31:17):
could tell he wanted to try to get out of
the pocket, like he couldn't see. You know, they were
like there wasn't really a lane for him. And I
know there's some mechanical things too. He had some bad footwork,
not addressing throws, but you know, for the most part,
Like why do you feel like we always tend to
focus on the negative with arch as opposed to like, hey,
maybe this Ohio State defense is really damn good, Like
maybe they might be the best in the country right now.

Speaker 10 (31:40):
Well, because we didn't spend all off season talking about
the Ohio State defense, Like I.

Speaker 7 (31:44):
Didn't wake up every morning and eat an Ohio State
defense sandwich.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
He had some manning sandwich. Is that what you had?

Speaker 7 (31:50):

Speaker 10 (31:50):
Yeah, I mean, really that's we've been force fed. I'm
not saying it's fair, Brady. I mean, guys play quarterback
because they want to get a lot of credit, but
they also get a lot of blame, you know, I
mean the quarterback situation is what we focus on.

Speaker 7 (32:08):
Everybody talks about that kid. We talked about that kid.

Speaker 10 (32:11):
Look, we saw him in that spring game and he
didn't look like he could throw two years ago, and
then it was like no, no, he's going to be better.
He's developing, and everybody talked and talked and talked their
way into it, and he could be the greatest thing
since sliced bread as he develops. And yeah, Ohio States
defense was great, and yeah they stifled him, But there's

(32:34):
also kind of an element of it's sort of like
getting a punt blocked. Right, you get one punt blocked
and everybody sees how you got it blocked, and they
start scheming against you.

Speaker 4 (32:45):
Now.

Speaker 10 (32:45):
I mean, now there's a tape against arch Manning playing
against maybe a great defense, certainly a lot better defense
than Louisiana Monroe his last start, and there's a blueprint
out there as well.

Speaker 7 (32:59):
He stayed before that, right, Yeah, I don't know how
many he started.

Speaker 3 (33:02):
He started two games, and that's that's here's the only
thing I'd say, not not to go back against you,
but like I watched the tape last year, Like it's
not like he doesn't have tools in tangibles and stuff.
I remember seeing him throw in practice when quinn Ewers
was hurt and he was there as a freshman, and
I was like, oh, like he's he's got it, Like
he can do it. So you know, like I talked
to someone in the program. I told these guys that

(33:24):
it sounds like he's got a banged up shoulder that
he was playing through. So I'm not sure they didn't
want it to get out.

Speaker 7 (33:29):
I'm not sure they went I was throwing it like
Uncle Rico.

Speaker 3 (33:33):
Yeah, there is some concert a little bit. Yeah like that.
It's there's he's going through some pain and he was
only fifty percent. But again, like he was out there playing,
so you can't really make the excuse once you crossed
that line. But I'm just saying, like, I feel like,
do we have to we have to write the story
on him after one game?

Speaker 7 (33:50):
Like no, oh no, I'm not trying to. I'm just saying.

Speaker 10 (33:53):
I mean, he asked me what my takeaway was, and
my takeaway was the first the first thing that we
were told, and the last thing that we were told
was about Arch Manning, and then right after that was
about Bill Belichick, and both of those things did not
perform well for whatever reason. And of course football is

(34:13):
a lot more people than just one, and we can
name all their names and look at the depth chart
and go through all that, but it's I mean, to me,
that was the takeaway that you just can't trust the
offseason storylines. They're usually misleading, which is not to say
that all of these guys aren't going to have a
great year, but it certainly didn't look good in week one,

(34:37):
and as you know, if you fall apart in week one,
it takes I don't know weeks of equity of doing
well again to get everybody's attention again.

Speaker 7 (34:46):
So we'll see. I'm not saying any of it is fair.
I'm not a quarterback expert, but the guy didn't look
good and neither did Texas overall. As an offense.

Speaker 10 (34:57):
Steve Sarkisium is supposed to be a master play caller
and be able to figure that stuff out, which is
why he makes you know, tens of millions of dollars,
and they didn't. They they were not able to figure
it out, which is fine. I mean, it's not the
end of the world. When we talked to Steve Sarkisian
whatever at the seminar, he was talking about how there's
an immense amount of pressure on the young man, but

you know, this is all generated from within as well.

Speaker 7 (35:23):
So that was my.

Speaker 10 (35:25):
Takeaway that both of those big entities that we were
hammered with did not end up standing up as a
structure Petros.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
Could it have gone worse for Nicomava?

Speaker 7 (35:41):
Well, that's another storyline, you know.

Speaker 10 (35:42):
I mean that would have been the third right, that's
that was the third storyline runner up to talk to
right of the year that you know, we had arch
manager going to be great, Chapel Bill and his girlfriend
and Nico Iamalayava and then number one quarterback in the
transfer portal. Well, the number one quarterback in the transfer

(36:03):
portal last year didn't perform that well either, and that
would have been Aiden Shiles, who looked better against Western Michigan,
but you looked more inconsistent like he was last year
in the second half. Now you know, they were winning
the game and dominating and all that. So I don't
know what the takeaway there is because it's only week one,

Like we're saying you can overreact, but.

They didn't. They didn't look good.

Speaker 5 (36:30):
Utah out of the Gates is kind of a rough
draw now, even though they're not ranked at the time
like that.

I mean, your Ucla you know we can't play Utah
right off the bat, Like what are we talking about? Like,
come on, UCLA football is supposed to be something. I
know it's not, but it's supposed to be and and
it's it's it's difficult to say, oh my god, well

they had to play Utah. It's like geez Utah was
very good. They're well coached, They're a program with an identity.
And if you don't have an identity and you don't
know what you're doing, which is what it looked like defensively,
then you're gonna get exposed. One of the things that
stood out to me was everybody talked about how great

this offensive coordinator, Tino Cinceri from Indiana was going to be,
and what a great he was, yeah, the Italian American,
and what a mix he would be with h with
the great Nico Iomliava, and how good the UCLA offense
is going to be. I mean, this guy wasn't even
the play caller. This was his first year calling plays.

(37:39):
He was a co offensive coordinator at Indiana. But the
play caller is still there from what I understand, and
this guy came out here, so I'm not saying he's
going to be good or bad, but I mean we're
told all this stuff in the offseason and then you
put it into practice and it looks completely different now.

Speaker 7 (37:56):
Is Lee Nico a good quarterback? Yeah, he's good.

Speaker 10 (37:59):
He's talent, a kid, and I'm sure that he'll write
the ship and they'll get it together. UCLA was worse
last year and got better.

Speaker 7 (38:09):
As the season went on.

If they would have beaten USC and made a bowl game,
people would have been touting Deshaun Foster and they weren't
that far from it. But you got to look less
helpless than that at home against Utah in my very
humble opinion, and they didn't, So I mean, that would
have been the third strike on the off season storylines.

It's a Belichick, arch Manning and Nico, but apparently it's
Big Ico that's the nightmare.

Well, one big improvement was your alma mater, Southern Cow

Dame lost to Miami in a great football game that
was courageously scheduled, and that U c. L A lost

Yeah, I believe that was Murray State's very first game
as an FBS team, so not against an FBS team,

other than the fact that you go out there and
you work your stuff and you play in front of people,

thing in the history of the world.
