college football we had. We are live here from the

(00:48):
to stand up to even the most extreme weather conditions.
They're built with patented technology to reduce damage due to
vibration and deliver the most power during startup. They're proven
tough and sold only at Auto Zone. Get in the zone,
Auto Zone. So much to get to, but I wanted
to start with this lead. I honestly don't understand how

(01:09):
anybody out there right now listening to this show could
like NFL football more than college football. I went to
a game yesterday in the NFL. I went to the
Titans and the Bengals. Awful game. Titans one their six
and three. I have no idea if they're any good.
We'll get into the overall NFL playoff picture and everything

(01:30):
that happened. But I spent all day Saturday watching college football,
and then I spent most of Sunday, like I said,
watching the NFL, including the NFL in person, and the
NFL as a pel approximation of college football. I understand
if you live in the Northeast and you don't have
a team and you never cared about college football, or

(01:52):
if you live on the West Coast and you don't care.
But if you're in the heartland of the country, you're
an SEC fan, if you're a Big ten fan, a
C C fan, and Big twelve fan, I think almost
all of you would agree with me that college football
games are so much more entertaining than the average NFL game.
And we got some shocking I would say results on

(02:16):
Saturday in college football? Did anything surprise us? From the NFL?
Does anything in the NFL ever surprises? Is there ever
an equivalent of Georgia the number one team in the country,
going on the road and just getting dominated by Auburn.

(02:36):
Is there ever an equivalent of Notre Dame? Everybody's out
there like the Fighting Irish or back Baby. Brian Kelly's
team is for real. I bought in going on the
road and getting dominated by the U. Baby. The U
is officially back. Mark Rick has got Miami back at
an incredibly high level. What about just Alabama on the

(03:00):
ode against Mississippi State and what was the most watched
college football game of the weekend, finding a way to win,
gutting out a road victory. I gotta be honest with you,
I'm not that confident that Alabama is going to go
into Auburn in two weeks and when at Jordan Hare Stadium.
There's a lot more entertaining to think about that than

(03:20):
almost any NFL game right now. There's so many different
angles to hit on. What about just Baker Mayfield? Is
there anybody is entertaining right now in the NFL? As
Baker Mayfield is on a game to game basis for
Oklahoma in terms of what he does on the field,
and my God, thank Jesus, Butch Jones has actually been fired.

(03:45):
The college coaching carousel is more entertaining than anything that
goes on in the NFL. We've got perpetual coaching free agency.
Is John Gruden gonna be headed to Knoxville? I think
there's a decent chance of it. We're gonna get into
all of these different stories around college football and more.
I'm gonna open up the phone lines eight seven, seven, nine,

(04:07):
six three six nine. Anybody out there believe the NFL
is better in the NFL front? How about the Rams,
the Saints, and the Vikings big time wins at the
top of the NFC. The Cowboys get crushed by the
Falcons and suddenly they're not headed to the Super Bowl
all over again. Jerry Jones versus Roger Goodell in the
NFL is the most entertaining subplot game right now in

(04:31):
the NFL as a whole. And I'm gonna make sense
of the college football playoff rankings because I think all
of this is turned into a real mess now on
some level. But there are only eight teams. I wrote
seven yesterday. I've gotta be honest with you, there are

(04:51):
eight teams. There are only eight teams that have a
chance to make the College football playoff, even with all
of the insanity in college football, I'm gonna make iNTS
of it for you in segment too. I'm gonna run
through all of the college football landscape. I'm gonna tell
you exactly who is going to make the playoff, what
has to happen in order for those teams to do it.
All of that as we come down the final two

(05:14):
weeks of the college football season, plus an additional week
of the conference title games. And by the way, there
were those idiots out there who said that expanding the
college football playoff is gonna make the regular season matter less.
I wish all of those people who made that argument
had to come out publicly and acknowledge how stupid they were.
It's one of the dumbest arguments I've ever seen. Okay,

(05:34):
let's go here now, though, because this is relatively easy
to follow. I think in the NFL season at this
point in time, every Monday, what we will be doing
is starting with the playoff picture, because that's really the
focal point. Now as you come down the final seven
games of the regular season in the NFL, where everybody

(05:54):
has played nine. Now we're over halfway. What does the
playoff picture look like. And so that's where I'm gonna start,
and I'm gonna start in the a f C. If
the season ended today, your overall number one seed would
be the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh plays completely uh to the
level of their competition. They almost lost on the road

(06:15):
against the Colts. Instead they got the win. Remember even
though that the number one overall seed. The Steelers lost
to the Bears and they've lost to the Jags. The
Jags loss doesn't look as bad. Big game Thursday, two
playoff teams right now, Thursday night Football. I'm kind of
excited for it because I'm a season ticket holder for
Tennessee Titans. But the Titans are going on the road

(06:36):
against the Steelers. No idea if the Titans are any good.
But somehow they're six and three and they will go
on the road against seven and two Pittsburgh Steelers on
Thursday night. So go ahead and mark that calendar, New England.
Was there anybody who thought that the game against the
Broncos is gonna be remotely close? Can you believe that
somebody gave brock Oswiler seventy million dollars? I mean, Denver

(06:57):
is so bad. The New England Patriots are oh good.
Part of the reason why people are not watching the
NFL is because the games are so bad. Last night's
game not competitive, not interesting. Imagine most of you turned
it off by halftime like me. Kansas City Chiefs in
the three slot right now, Tennessee Titans. Like I said,
I was at this game against the Bengals. I have

(07:18):
no idea if the Titans are any good. Big time
win at the end. There uh, spectacular drive by Marcus Mariotta,
But the Titans are six and three. Mariota six and
two as a starter this year, even though the numbers
have not been great. The Jacksonville Jaguars Blake Bortles tried
to give away this game. The Jacks defense found a
way to win it for him. Uh. So the Jags
are in the five spot and Buffalo the Bills. Anybody

(07:42):
out there still wanted to defend Tyrod Taylor and the
Buffalo Bills in the wake of what the New Orleans
Saints did to them on the road. This is too
straight blowout losses for the Buffalo Bills. They still are
in there as the six seed in this playoff race.
Uh And then you move by the way to teams
that are on the outside looking in. If Miami could

(08:02):
win tonight Monday Night Football, they would be right there
in the mix as well. Then Baltimore Oakland are four
and five. Not a lot of great teams in uh
in the a f C. Like I said, only six
teams with winning records out of sixteen in the a
f C. Right now, how about the NFC playoff picture?
The Eagles had a bye week there at eight and one.

(08:23):
You know what, I might have to eat crow over this.
I said I didn't believe in the the Minnesota Vikings
because of Case Keenum. I just didn't. Now, maybe I'm wrong.
Maybe Case Keenum is the real deal at quarterback and
the Vikings have got a legitimate quarterback. Because here's my
issue with Case Keenum. It's not really about Case Keenum.

(08:43):
It's that there's hardly ever a situation where a journeyman
quarterback in the NFL suddenly becomes really good. Right, a
guy who has played for multiple teams, and he's what
is Case Keenum, like twenty nine, eight years old? Something
like that? I think, uh, maybe even older than that.
I'm not even sure one of you guys can pull
it up and figure out exactly how old Case Keendom is.

(09:05):
It's nine years old. It's almost unheard of for suddenly
a guy who's twenty nine to be good, unless you
are Kurt Warner and you've never gotten an opportunity before.
But Case Keendom has played a decent number of games,
and so maybe I'm just wrong, maybe he is legitimately good.
And I've been unfair to the Minnesota Vikings because they

(09:25):
certainly looked good against the Redskins at seven into the Rams,
Sorry the Saints. The Saints and the Rams, by the way,
both also seven and two in the three in the
fourth spot right now, I gotta tell you, I think
the Rams and the Saints the top four teams right
now in the NFC. The Saints have won seven games

(09:48):
in a row and they just look like an absolute
clinic right now on the offensive side of the ball.
And the Rams, I mean look like legitimate Super Bowl contenders. Remember,
the ram are one play away from being eight and
one if they catch that pass. Cooper Cup catches that
pass on at the very end against the Seahawks. Um,

(10:10):
speaking of the Seahawks, there six and three, and then
the Carolina Panthers, I feel like a little bit under
the radar six and three. And then unlike the a
f C where there's hardly any teams with winning records,
then Atlanta, Detroit, and Green Bay and Dallas are all
sitting at five and four with winning records right now
outside of the playoff picture. So that is the NFL situation.

(10:33):
I'm gonna open up the phone lines eight seven, seven, six,
three six nine, Um. I will dive into the college
football playoff picture and tell you about the eight teams
that are still alive to win a national title to
make the playoffs, and what needs to happen for each
of them. And I'll run through who those eight teams
are for you next. I'll also take your calls will react.

(10:54):
Is there anybody who wants to defend the NFL as
being a more entertaining product than college football? I think
you're is flat out wrong if you believe that what
a weekend it was in college football, the NFL just
kind of okay. We will break down all the world
of football, continuing next segment here on the Monday edition
of Outkicked the Coverage. It's what we do. I appreciate

(11:15):
all of you, Thank you for spending your Monday with
us hope all you all had spectacular weekends. Let's dive
right into the college football playoff picture up next here
on out kick the coverage great news. Way you could

And it is two weeks left in the college football
regular season. There is still the conference title games to

(11:58):
be played as well, so three weeks a left in
the college football season and there are eight teams alive
to win the college football Playoff and win the title
this year. So I thought I would make sense of
them again. My argument this morning is if you spent
Saturday watching college football and then Sunday watching the NFL,

(12:19):
I don't see how any reasonable person could watch both
college football and the NFL and argue that the NFL
has a superior product. College football product is infinitely better.
College football also does a better job putting all of
its games on, so if you don't like a game
that you're watching in college football, you can just flip
around and watch another game. Like last Saturday night when

(12:40):
you had Notre Dame going head to head with Miami,
you had Alabama on the road against Mississippi State, and
you had a game between Oklahoma and TCU. All of
them were going on simultaneously. So unlike in the NFL,
where yeah, you can sit around and watch the red zone,
but you don't get to pick every play or watch

(13:00):
every play of your favorite game. You can just scroll around.
You never have to watch a commercial. In college football Saturday,
there's always another game going on, and so that the
product of college football is better than the product of
the NFL. And this year's college football champion will be
one of these eight teams. There are three teams from

(13:21):
the SEC that are still alive to win the national title, Alabama, Georgia,
and Auburn. Auburn could still win the national title. And
you know what, I don't even know that I believe
it's even crazy to make that argument right now, because
the way they played against Georgia. It looks like Auburn

(13:42):
might well beat Alabama in two weeks in the Iron
Bowl down in on the planes at Auburn. Now, you remember,
if you watch the Alabama and Auburn game, there have
been a ton of crazy endings in this game over
the years, and that line. Now, if you are an
Alabama fan, you are now just a three point favorite

(14:03):
over Auburn in this game. So I mean that that's
moved close to a coin flip game between Alabama and Auburn.
Alabama on the road against Auburn in two weeks. If
Auburn beats Alabama and then they would advance and they
beat Georgia again in the SEC title game, then eleven
in two Auburn would be in the playoff. And I

(14:25):
think there's probably a good chance that eleven and one
Alabama would also be in the playoff. Alabama, obviously, if
they went out thirteen and oh would be in the playoff.
I think Georgia. If Georgia, you know, they basically had
a mulligan game here against Auburn. If they bounce back
and beat Kentucky and they beat Georgia Tech, then I

(14:46):
think Georgia. If they beat Alabama or Auburn would also
be in the playoff for sure. So there are three
teams from the SEC that are still alive, Alabama, Georgia,
and Auburn. From the Big Twelve, there's one team, and
it's Oklahoma. Now this is you, guys. Go back and
listen to the tape. I told you that the idea

(15:09):
that the Big Twelve needed a conference title game was,
in my opinion, incorrect, that the Big Twelve would lose
as many playoff bids as it would win by having
a conference title game. And what you're gonna see is
exactly what I said. If Oklahoma beats Kansas, which they

(15:30):
will by a ton of points. Kansas is awful, And
then if they can beat West Virginia in the final
week of the season, then Oklahoma at eleven and one
would be the only one lost team in the Big
Twelve and they would be your undisputed Big Twelve champ. Instead,
Oklahoma is going to have to go to the Big

(15:51):
Twelve title game and probably play TCU again. If they're
going to play TCU again, then what in the world
is the does the Big Twelve have to gain from
their Big Twelve title game? The only thing that can
happen is Oklahoma can lose and potentially cost itself a

(16:11):
spot in the playoff. Oklahoma at eleven and two is
likely your only Big twelve team that can make the playoff.
In the a c C, you have got undefeated Miami
who likely will finish eleven and oh all they have
to do is beat Virginia and win at Pittsburgh going
up against Clemson, who probably will be eleven and one,

(16:34):
although that road game against Will Must Champs South Carolina
game cox not gonna be that easy. South Carolina and
Will Must Champ have had a fantastic second year there
five and three in the SEC in year two. For
Will much Champ gets to eight wins, has a chance
to get to nine wins if they could pull off
the upset over Clemson to finish the season. And then

(16:56):
in the Big Ten, Wisconsin at thirteen and oh is
in Wisconsin has got their first decent contest of the
season really, unless you want to count Iowa uh as
they host Michigan this weekend, and then Ohio State is
floating around out there. The team that will not die,
the villain that can't be killed, needs another bullet, potentially

(17:19):
to the head just to be sure that they are
not there for one last scare. That is the teams
the eight teams that are still alive in theory to
make the College Football Playoff. What would need to happen,
for instance, for Ohio State to advance to the College
Football Playoff. Well, I think this is what would have
to happen. Ohio State has the slimmest of possible paths. Uh.

(17:43):
They would need Ohio State would Alabama to win out
and eliminate Auburn and Georgia. They would need Oklahoma to
win out because Oklahoma has the head to head over
Ohio State. They would need Miami to beat Clemson and
finish undefeated and then arguably to loss. Ohio State would

(18:04):
be the overall four seed to make the playoff and
become the first team with two losses to make the playoff. Now,
I don't think Ohio State remotely deserves an opportunity to
be in the playoff. They gave up fifty five points
on the road to Iowa. They lost by fifteen at
home to Oklahoma. So I think, at least in general,

(18:27):
UH that Ohio State they have to draw that perfect
run again. Alabama has to win out Oklahoma has to
win out and Miami has to win out. There's still
a possibility, guys, we could end up with two sec
and to a sec. Uh. There are a lot of
different UH parameters and permutations still to be filled out

(18:48):
here before we know exactly what the college football playoff
is gonna look like. But that is your eight team
down the stretch college football playoff picture. All right, I'm
gonna bring in the crew, uh, Jason Martin and Nashville
Danny g and Robert in l A. The weekend that
was in the NFL and college football? What if I
missed that stood out to you, guys, I'll start with you,

(19:10):
Jason Martin. I don't know that you've necessarily missed anything,
but the few takeaways that I got from college, especially
on Saturday, is that watching what happened to Georgia proves
the greatness of teams like Alabama because it's real easy
to win games if you're a good football team when
nobody's really paying attention to you. But all of a sudden,

(19:33):
when you have a number one next to your name,
then you're getting everyone's best shot. Not that Auburn wouldn't
have played them really hard, No, matter what. Auburn is
a really good football team, better than I certainly expected
them to be at this point in the season. But
it can be very difficult to carry the weight of
that number one ranking, the weight of being the hunted.
And that's just somewhere that this Georgia team has not

(19:54):
found themselves before. And you saw how they reacted to it.
They made uncharacteristic mistake, really bad play in the first half,
even bad coaching down the stretch in the first half.
Uh in that last minute that Kirby Smart even admitted
on CBS when they asked him during the halftime interview,
when Ali the Force asked him exactly what it was
that he was doing in that final thirty five seconds,

(20:14):
He's like, yeah, you know what we should have done that.
It's just a situation where Georgia for the first however
many weeks to this season, was playing really good football,
but they also weren't playing with a ton of pressure.
Now all of a sudden, they're playing with pressure and
they get beat. The other thing is that, uh, Miami
last week, I said, Miami really impressed me with what

(20:34):
they did to Virginia Tech. I thought Virginia Tech was
better than what they've proven to be over the last
few weeks. Miami now, like I don't know if this
Notre Dame team was sort of fool's gold. I expected
Notre Dame to lose again before the end of the year.
This loss is gonna sting them really, really hard. I
don't know who will get them, but I think somebody's
gonna get them before the end of the year as well.

(20:54):
This Miami team, that's ridiculous. You bring in a turnover
chain all of a sudden, you can't beat these guys,
especially at home that stadium that looked like the Larry
Coker Butch Davis Miami teams are even back to the
Jimmy Johnson teams of the eighties. It was amazing to
watch Miami in that game that night. I was sitting

(21:15):
in a sports bar and that game was over before
the end of the first quarter, and you could tell
that Notre Dame was not coming back. They were It's
not that they weren't trying, they simply weren't good enough.
They were not anywhere near as good as Miami was
on the field. I was supremely blown away by both
Auburn and Miami. But I looked at it, and it
made me think, you know, how long has Alabama played

(21:36):
when they've had a number one or a number two
next to their name and taking everybody's best shot and
been able to win. And that goes for an Urban
Meyer coach Florida team or a lot of times his
Ohio State teams and Dabbo at Clemson and all of
these guys. I think it proves just how great they
are because they can play with expectations and they can
play when everyone's eyes are trained directly on them as

(21:56):
the hunted. I think for Alabama even a stepie up
beyond Ohio State and Clemson, because Ohio State in the
last three losses they've had, they've gotten dominated thirty one, nothing,
lost to Clemson, lose by fifteen at home to Oklahoma,
get lose by thirty one on the road to Iowa.
To me, what it represents also is and I said

(22:18):
this that, and it was it's it's to me one
of the most shocking stats, even among all of the
crazy dominance of Alabama. You know, last time Alabama lost
a regular season game by over a touchdown two thousand ten.
It has been seven years since Alabama lost a football
game by more than seven points. When you beat Alabama,

(22:41):
you beat them like Clemson did in the title game.
When you throw a touchdown pass with one second left,
you beat them like Auburn did. When you return a
potential game winning field goal for a touchdown the length
of the field, you know as a crazy wild win.
As when you beat them like Auburn did when they

(23:01):
had Cam Newton and you come back from a twenty
four to nothing deficit to win by four. Again that
stat The last regular season quarterback to beat Alabama by
more than seven points was Stephen Garcia and it happened
in the two thousand and ten season. That's how dominant
Alabama has been. Even if they had lost the Mississippi

(23:22):
State and they found a way to win that game,
what a drive late by Jalen Hurts. Even if they
had lost that game, it was gonna be a tight game, right,
like a game where you change one play and the
outcome could have been totally different. If they lose to Auburn,
Auburn is not gonna blow them out, I don't think,
because it hasn't happened in seven years to a Nick

(23:42):
Saban coach team. That to me is the biggest takeaway.
I'll go out to l A and get their takeaways.
I can get yours as well again. Phone number eight
seven seven nine six three six nine. Let's bring in
Eddie Garcia. Find out what shaken in the world is
forts we will check in in the NFL Games of
noting give you some deep hills on them. Sunday night,
it was the Patriots beating up on the Broncos in

(24:03):
Denver sixteen, New England seven and two. They've won five
in a row. Tom Brady had three touchdown passes to
three different receivers and Denver is now lost five straight games.
In the late Action, Falcons beat the Cowboys twenty seven seven.
I was Dallas's first game without suspended star running back
Ezekiel Elliott Dak Prescott. Their quarterback was sacked eight times,
six of them by Atlanta's Adrian Claiborne. Rams roll over

(24:25):
the Texans thirty three seven l A seven and two.
They won four in a row. Jared Goff three touchdown
passes get their first win of the year. They beat
the Giants thirty one twenty one. In the early Action,
Saints won theirs seventh in a row. There's seven and two,
beating the Bills in Buffalo easily forty seven to tend
mark Ingram three touchdown runs for New Orleans Steelers, gonta
last second field goal to get by the Colts on
the road twenty to seventeen. Pittsburgh seven and two. They've

(24:46):
won four in a row, Vikings over the red Skins
thirty eight to thirty, Minnesota seven and who they've won
five straight over time for the Chargers to get by
the excusing the Jaguards and get by the Chargers seventeen
while the Titans beat the Bengals. Tennessee and Jacksonville are
tied for the AMC South lead. Who was the Alliance
over the Browns Cleveland now oh and nine on the season.

(25:07):
And I don't know if you heard about this clay
about the University of Tennessee fired, Butsch Jones volunteers are
four and six is here oh and six in the SEC.
Jones went thirty four and five seasons with Tennessee fourteen
and twenty four in the SEC. God rest good riddance
to Butch Jones. I mean that guy is the dumbest
head cut like you ever watch a head coach. And

(25:28):
I've been on this for years. There are so many
guys who end up head coaches in college football that
if they weren't head coaches, they would be making forty
five thousand dollars a year as a gym teacher. That's
the that there's such a huge gap. They're like Nick Saban,
for example, if Nick Saban were not a college football coach,
he would be a multi millionaire in business somewhere, probably

(25:50):
because the process that he applies to football would work everywhere.
He's an intelligent man who would succeed in many different disciplines.
Butch Jones not a smart and Butch Jones is a
dumb guy. And from the moment I met Butch Jones,
I could tell that he was a used car salesman,
that he was not intelligent. I've told this story, but

(26:12):
he's taken us on a tour of the new un
University of Tennessee facilities and when you get to the
bench presses, you get to the bench press machine at
the new University of Tennessee facility and they have put
the bench presses right beside the juice bar. And they
have a juice bar literally in the gym. You know,
it's not that big of a deal. If you guys
go to a gym, probably a good chance that there's

(26:32):
a juice bar somewhere near your gym. And Butch Jones
goes on and on about how amazing that juice bar
is and how the guys can go straight from doing
a bench press to getting a to getting a smoothie.
And he goes on on, you know, like, you know,
you finished the bench press and then you're right over here,
and then you can go get a banana kale smoothie,

(26:53):
or you can go get a you know, like a
mango and a and an orange and an apple smoothie
all mixed together. Think about the recovery, think about how
much better your muscles are gonna be. And I remember
sitting there listening to him go on and on about
this damn juice bar. And it's led to one of
my catchphrases that I use in my own kids. I
used my own life, don't juice bar me bro. I

(27:14):
would encourage you guys to use it too, whenever somebody
is trying to sell you something that you know is
total crap. And I was sitting there, like, is this
juice bar gonna beat Nick Saban? Because that's what you're
trying to do here at Tennessee, right You're trying to
put together a team and an infrastructure and a program
that is solid enough to beat the most dominant dynasty

(27:39):
in the history of college football. And if you think
this effing juice bar is going to beat Nick Saban,
I got another thing for you. And the other thing
that Butch Jones obsessed with was urine color. I mean,
I'm not kidding about this. Like, you go into the
bathrooms at the University of Tennessee and there was a
chart for what like what color you're in your what
you have, And this was an obsession for Butch Jones.

(28:01):
He's walking around at practice talking about what color urine
everybody has, and I'm like, my god, this guy is
such a freaking idiot. Just not a smart man, not
a smart man at all. I'm so glad he's fired.
And if I were a program and I my team
ever considered hiring Puts Jones again, I would like run

(28:24):
the opposite direction. Not a smart man, not like in
any way a guy who would make anything. The fact
that he made millions of dollars a year is an
indictment of college football in general, this guy should be
making fifty tho dollars a year as a mediocre high
school gym coach in Hoboken. Now more power to him,

(28:45):
I guess, for having the i Q of a of
a ladybug and somehow finding the way to make millions
of dollars as a college football coach. But I'm so
glad that he's gone. Bringing on the Grudinator, baby, John Gruden.
It's Gruden Watch in Foxville. Can the balls get him
to give up Monday Night football? I think there's a
good chance John Gruten's coaching somewhere on the sidelines NFL

(29:07):
or at Tennessee after this, after this NFL season ends.
But we'll see. I believe I'm a believer there. Let's
go to l A. I'm going around giving you guys
an opportunity to break down the stories as you saw them.
What stood out to you guys, NFL college football wise.
I'll start with you, Danny G A couple of pretty
amazing stories from the NFL on Sunday first, after two

(29:30):
years of hell? How how nice was it to see
Teddy Bridgewater back in uniform? He was in tears as
the game was beginning, and um, you know that grew
some knee injury was so bad that a lot of
supposed experts wrote him offset his NFL career was definitely
gonna be over. Now he's backing up the backup you
were talking about earlier case Keenum and even at his

(29:52):
helmet on at one point in the second half because
when Keenum through a couple of interceptions in the third
and fourth quarter, look like maybe Bridgewater would get to
get on the field, but he didn't. A lot of
the Viking fans obviously are torn right now between Keenum
and Bridgewater, but Bridgewater said after the game he was
just happy to be suited up obviously and charing on

(30:14):
the offense. So Teddy Bridgewater definitely a big story coming
out of the NFL right now. And then and secondly,
Marquis Goodwin might have saw this wide receiver for the Niners. Uh.
It was just hours after he and his wife lost
their newborn due to pregnancy complications. He scored that amazing
eighty three yard touchdown and then broke down in the

(30:35):
end zone crying and praying, and it's just amazing. Uh,
it's crazy that he could even be playing in an
NFL game. A couple hours after something like that happened
in the hospital. Yeah, I can't believe that that's a
I mean, as obviously a lot of parents out there,
I can't imagine playing in the wake of of something
happening that soon and then to play as well as
he did is a is a remarkable story. Um, anything

(30:58):
else from you, Robert, anything else jumped out in the
college football or the NFL landscape over the weekend. Yeah,
one thing that kind of stuck out to me was
what happened with the Dallas Cowboys. Now, a lot of people,
especially on this network, have been really ball washing Dak Prescott,
and rightfully so. He's had a good start to his career.
But I think that we've seen now twice once against

(31:18):
the Broncos earlier this season and and yesterday that if
you take Ezekilali out of the game, that he's not
that guy yet. He's not ready for that level of
football yet. And when you put the game on his shoulders,
he's not. He can't really get you to win like
some of these more upper echelng quarterbacks. Yeah. At five
and three, Cowboy fans were convinced they were headed to
the Super Bowl. Now they got whipped by the Falcons,

(31:41):
and I said this coming into that game, I said, book,
the Falcons are a three point favorite. Vegas seems to
think that they're gonna come back at home and play
well against the Cowboys. And now those two teams are
the exact same place. Which team would you buy stock
in right now? The Falcons or the Cowboys? I think
I'd buy stock in the Falcons right now. Cowboys have
five more games without Ezekiel Elliott. Word is Ezekiel Elliott

(32:02):
has left the country. I don't know where he's gone
to to try and stay in shape, but by the
time he comes back, I think it's likely the Cowboys
are out of the mix for the playoffs. Certainly they're
out of the mix to even contend in the NFC East.
So the only thing thereafter right now is the idea
of getting a wild card Berth and I just I
don't see it happening. I mean that I think the Eagles,

(32:23):
that the Eagles keep playing like they are, they're gonna
clinch that division insanely early. Whereas I do think even
as good as the Saints are playing, I think the
Falcons have another gear. I I really do. I think
they can find a way to play their way into
the wild card even if they can't catch the Saints.
We'll see what happens there, all right. Gonna take your
calls eight seven, seven, nine, six three six nine your

(32:47):
biggest takeaway from the weekend that was in college football
and the NFL. Fire away your calls next to finish
out our one, I'm Clay Travis. Thanks for hanging with
us here on a spectacular Monday on out kick the Cover.
I went to the Bengals Titans game with my kids
elementary school. We have to go on the field after

(33:07):
the game get our picture taken. Really cool thing. We
were literally in like the third row from the top
in the in the Titans stadium. As I'm sitting up
there at the top of the stadium, first of all,
it's like you're so far away. Now. The benefit is
you can actually see the plays developed. The negative is
you can't tell hardly anything. Um. But as we're sitting
way up there, I'm looking around and I've been making

(33:29):
this argument for years, but I think every time I
climbed to the top of a football stadium, and that's
where our seat tour on Sunday, I think to myself,
there's no reason for there to be big football stadiums anymore.
Because I spent all day Saturday watching college football from
my couch flipping around, probably watched fifteen different games all
day long. I got my kids sitting around. My kids

(33:49):
are gung ho now about doing their own top ten lists. Um,
pretty awesome. Like my kids have become big college football
and NFL fans now to my two oldest, my nine
year old and UH and my seven year old. So
that's a lot of fun to kind of see your
kids becoming interested in what you're interested in, especially when
it comes to sports. But what is fascinating about that
is I I really do believe that there's no reason

(34:13):
why any football stadium should be bigger than like thirty
five or forty thousand seats now, because I don't understand
why this next generation for sure, but certainly even for
people my age, why would you go to a football
stadium and sit in crappy seats all the way at
the top. I would rather sit and watch a game

(34:33):
on HD at home then spend the time, the money,
and the effort to go out to a football stadium.
I mean I got there. We had one of the
kids was one one of my first graders friends and
his dad were there with us too. I mean, the
whole elementary school was there. But we get there and
the kids are hungry, so it's lunchtime. So I buy

(34:53):
them three pizzas and you know, like the personal pizzas
from Papa John's. I think, you know, the official pizza
partner of the NFL. Gotta plug there from me. I
feel bad for them since they're their sales have tanked
evidently because they're civiliated with the NFL. So you get
three pizzas, three like personal pan pizza things, uh, three gatorades,
and then I got two beers for me and the dad.

(35:17):
Sixty five dollars cost at the football stadium. Now I
know the Falcons have limited that cost, but again, three
personal pan pizzas, uh, three gatorades for the boys, and
two beers sixty five. Now I'm fortunately I've got money now,
but I'm sitting there, like if you don't make very

(35:38):
much money, sixty five dollars to for for that and
then to sit at the very top of the stadium
compared to I can call and order you know, huge
pizzas for twenty bucks. Probably have as much beer as
I want. Kids can have as much drinks as they want.
That's not counting, you know, thirty dollars to park. I

(35:58):
just I don't know why anybody would want to sit
in the top of a football stadium in the years ahead.
I think what they have to do is make a
football stadium spectacular, like it needs to be extraordinary. You
have to go to a football game and be like, man,
I had an experience that I can't have anywhere else.

(36:20):
And I just I don't get these huge, supersized stadiums
for the future. I just think that's gonna be almost
impossible to sell the tickets because I think most people
are gonna be like me and say, you know what,
I'd rather watch the games at home. Maybe you go
to a game or two. And I'm a season ticket holder,
so I haven't been up to the very very top
of football stadium in a long time. When I wrote
my book Dixie Land to Light, I said in the

(36:41):
nosebleeds of all the SEC football stadiums. But that was
back in like oh six, And at least for SEC football,
you've got the tailgating, you've got the experience. Maybe you're
going back to campus because you've got kids that are
on campus, Like there's an excuse to go back for
that game for just to go sit in an NFL stadium.
I just don't buy it. I really don't buy it

(37:02):
for college football either. I don't know why anybody wants
a hundred thousand seat stadium. I just it doesn't make
sense to me anyway. That's me kind of trying to
make sense of the future of the NFL and also
college football. It's time for the Geico Play of the Day.
And uh, this was an awesome ending. Awesome ending unless
you were a Bengals fan. Titans give up a seventy

(37:22):
yard touchdown pass to a j Green, fall behind seventeen.
They should have put that game away earlier. They kind
of screwed it away and dropped a touchdown pass, fumbled
one as they went in for another score. As a result,
they needed a last minute touchdown drive. And it was
third and goal from the seven, and Marcus Mariotta checks

(37:44):
down to DeMarco Murray and this is what it sounded
like on the Titans radio network. Mariota looking looking firing
to Murray at the three. Murray died. Titans to remake
the catch DeMarco Murray broke the plane. Three touchdowns on

(38:06):
the day for DeMarco and that Titans take the lead
with thirty six ticks to go. I have no idea
whether the Tennessee Titans or any good at all. Their
six and three. Somehow, Marcus Mariotte is a starting quarterback,
is six and two. Honestly, if he doesn't get hurt,
I think they would have won that game against the
Dolphins and they'd be tied for the best record in

(38:27):
the a f C. But they've played a lot of
close games, and they haven't looked very good in many moments.
But somehow they're six and three. Thursday night, they go
on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers for what should
be a fairly entertaining Thursday night football game. We'll see
what happens. That audio of the win courtesy of the
Titans and Radio Network. That was Mike Keith. That's your

(38:48):
Geico play the day, great news, quick way you could
save money. Switched to Geico. Go to Geico dot com
and in fifteen minutes you could say or more on
car insurance. You guys with me. In terms of the
sitting at the very top of the stadium. What's the
point nowadays with HD. I understand back in the day
when everybody had standardized standard definition television, maybe when the

(39:10):
game wasn't gonna be on where you were, maybe that
makes sense. I just don't see it making sense as much.
I'm not saying go you don't go for a couple
of games. But why do the upper decks even exist
now in football stadiums? Why build it? To me? Charge
more building awesome, forty thousand seat football stadium. To me,
that's the future. I don't know what the other thirty

(39:32):
thousand why people would decide to sit in the upper
deck me either. I mean, the first time I went
to an NFL game, I set up high. But that
was the first time I went to an NFL game.
It's just Okay, this guy's got a ticket for me,
I'll go. But that's not something I'm interested in doing
it anymore. That's why I don't go to many NFL games.
I don't have money for a season tickets to sit low.

(39:53):
So if I do, pick I went. I went to
the Broncos game last year because I wanted to see
my guys in person and sat relatively closed. So that
was fine, but I still would just prefer to sit
at home, honestly, especially when you're paying thirty dollars. You
said thirty for parking. That's that's in a good place,
and that's in a smaller market. In a lot of places.
I know, the RAMS is like a hundred dollars for parking. Yeah.
Eight seven seven nine six six three six nine. Uh,

(40:17):
go ahead and weigh in. Second hour will reset all
the big stories from college football in the NFL. This
is your opportunity. On Monday's I leave it open for calls.
We'll have Casey Smith an hour three, but usually not
any guests on Monday, so you guys can react. This
is your chance. Eight seven seven six three six nine.

We are breaking down the weekend that was in college
football and the NFL. We haven't hit on this yet,
but how big of a liar is Martellis Bennett says

(41:22):
that the Packer doctor is a fraud because he's saying
that he thinks maybe Martellis Bennett can play, And then
he gets released by the Packers because he's basically saying
that he wants to have season ending injury sits sorry,
season ending surgery because of his injury. And then as
soon as he gets released by the Packers, he signs

(41:44):
with the Patriots, and as Jeff Schwartz will join us
on Wednesday points out, he wasn't even playing with a
shoulder protective harness in last night's game for the Patriots.
Which of the Bennett brothers is a bigger liar? Do
you feel like Michael Bennett who lied about the Las
Vegas police racial profiling him, or Martellis Bennet who Martellis

(42:07):
Bennett who lied about the police sorry, who lied about
the doctor at Green Bay and about his own health
situation to get his way out of Green Bay? Which
one is a bigger liar? That is the poll question
that is up on Twitter right now, and Michael Bennett
is running away with it. Michael Bennett who lied about

(42:28):
the Las Vegas Police Department. Sevent of you saying that
he is the biggest liar, twenty three percent of you
voting that Martellis Bennett is the biggest liar. Do you
guys agree with the polar results so far, Jason Martin, Danny,
Danny g and Robert that Michael Bennett is the bigger
liar in this situation. Yeah, because the stakes were much higher,

(42:48):
because the lie itself was so much more damaging. Like, yes,
I know what Martellis Bennett did was ridiculous, but it's
about football. This other thing is way beyond on the
pale that I would have expected the poll to be
in that direction certainly, and maybe even be more dominant
in favor of Michael Bennett. But what Michael Bennett chose
to lie about is why it's far more agreed just

(43:11):
to me than anything Martellis Bennett did about the NFL.
Guys in l A. Do you agree, Yeah, And a
lot of us, you know, stood up for Michael at
first because we're like, well, we need to know more
about the story, see more of the cameras. And then
when it came out that you know, he obviously exaggerated.
He didn't even take the opportunity to apologize and donate

(43:34):
money after the Country concert shooting, which would have been
a great opportunity for Michael to at least do something
for Las Vegas. Yeah, and also just acknowledged that he
was full of craft um. And it's still amazing to
me that nobody in the media calls him on this
at all, and in fact that he got praised for
standing up for Veterans Day weekend. People are like, oh,

(43:56):
look at look at Michael Bennett. What would a stand
up guy? Now he's standing upstad of sitting for the
national anthem. I mean the media in many respects. I
know people go after like the media that covers politics
and serious things in this country, but the sports media
as a group is filled with the biggest collection of
pussy willows you've ever met in your life that they

(44:19):
never come out and in any way other than me, like,
there's almost no one in the media that has called
out Michael Bennett for basically entirely making up a racial
incident with the Las Vegas police and calling two Hispanic
guys and one black guy at the Las Vegas Police
Department racist, and almost nobody called him on it. You

(44:40):
can go through like almost nobody wrote an article about it.
I'm one of the only people who was willing to
do it. It's it's amazing to me. Uh, let's go
to Uh also out in l A. Robert you with us,
do that that Michael Bennett is by far the worst
of the Bennett brothers when it comes to line. I
wouldn't go by far only because, uh, Michael Bennett is

(45:01):
still maintaining what he said is Drew martellis Bennett. I
mean he didn't even go what twenty four hours before
he kind of like, yeah, you're right, I wasn't really
telling the truth there. Do we have the audio? Do
we have the audio from him? Last night? And he
did get asked about it. This is Martelli's Ben And
if you don't know this story, Martell has been at
playing for the Green Bay Packers said that basically the

(45:24):
Green Bay Packer doctor was throwing him. He threw the
Green Bay Packer doctor under the bus, said that he
wasn't giving accurate medical diagnoses that he that all these
awful things about the doctor, which, honestly, if you are
going to attack somebody, attacking a doctor for his medical
viability in terms of his his reliability and his honesty,

(45:47):
is probably the worst thing you can do about a doctor,
right because ultimately, all a doctor has to sell is
two things. His judgment, which is, what is wrong with you?
How can I help you uh be better? And the
honesty of that judgment. In other words, that's really all
you pay for when you pay for a doctor. You
pay for his skill and door judgment and analyzing your malady,

(46:08):
your sickness, can he helped you get better? And then
also the honesty of his analysis, And to attack a
doctor's honesty when it comes to diagnosing the health of
a patient is really the worst thing you can do
to a doctor. So to go public like he did,
and then to be a liar like he was, I mean,
that was a flagrant assault. I mean, on some level,

(46:30):
I almost feel like the Green Bay Packer doctor should
follow a lawsuit against Martellis Bennett and attack him for damages,
suing for damages because that was undeniably not positive for
his viability in the larger arena as a as a doctor.
To have a lie told about you, Well, here's Martelli's
Bennett explaining how miraculously, despite the fact that he had

(46:52):
said he was not going to be able to play
again because of his shoulder injury, he was able to
suit up a few days later for the New England Patriots.
It's not about could you play, should you play? You know?
It was one of those things, so um right now,
just that's the answer. That's the sports media going after
Martellis Bennett for throwing a doctor under the bus for

(47:15):
lying about him and he still couldn't even explain himself.
I mean, just a total joke. Eight seven seven six
three six nine. Will take some of your calls. Let's
go to Jose in Fremont, California. Jose, what's up, big man?
I loving you always keeping it real. I can't watch
football keep round. But there's going back to the schoolball

(47:40):
state insane man. I'm a Raiders season tackle holder. Back
when there is trying to get the Stadham Bill out
here in Calli and there was something about with a
smaller venue. I thought it was a brilliant decided to
go to Vegas build up, build up, this mostrosity I
will I'd rather this streak of not having a home
game for like the last month, I'm loving it. Will
not let me so any of the season tickets actually

(48:03):
toured one of the game. Trying to give into the
game is annoying at the college sea. I'd rather stay
at home. I'm slowly with you about the state of ordeals. Yeah,
thanks for the call. I mean, I think it's I
think the NFL that has got a challenge when it comes.
And I don't think it's just the NFL. I think
it's Major League Baseball NBA to a lesser extent, although
I think also it doesn't make sense to sit in

(48:24):
the very top of a of a basketball arena when
there's twenty thousand people there, It's hard to see the
basketball court. There's not a lot to be gained. I
don't know what the value is of being in person
anymore in a modern sort of h D universe. And uh,
the Raiders are breaking ground on a new stadium I
think in in Las Vegas today? Is that right, guys?

(48:47):
The Raiders breaking ground on that new stadium in Las Vegas.
And if I were designing a new stadium in Las Vegas.
I would want to be fifty thousand seats, forty thousand,
forty five thousand seats, and I would want it to
be incredible. Is you know, maybe everybody gets you know
how the move The move now for movie theaters is
every new movie theater that's being built has got a

(49:08):
dine in theater. It's got fully retron you know, reclining seats.
To me, that's the same kind of thing you should
have to do to get people to go to UH
sporting events. I'm not gonna like I don't get to
go to the movies that often because I got young kids.
But I think that sooner or later, so many of
us out there have almost movie screen like environments in

(49:30):
our house. Now you got sixty in flat screen televisions,
you've got projection screen. That the age of walking into
a movie theater and being blown away because the screen
is so big, unless you're in an imax is really
kind of gone. And so to me, when you think
about the experience, it's just it's hard. It's hard for

(49:52):
me to think that there's that many people out there
that in the years ahead, are gonna be willing to
trudge all the way to the very top of the
stadium and sit there there and spend good money to
go have that view for a game when you can
kick back on your couch or your recliner and have
a spectacular view. Uh, Jason Martin, you said that the
Packers are maybe going after Martelli's Bennett's signing bonus. Yeah,

(50:15):
according to Ian Rapp report, they're going to go after
at least the pro rated four point two mill that
was part of his three year I think it's twenty
one million dollar deal. They're also perhaps going to go
after the entire six point three million off that signing bonus.
And they didn't designate it, which is what made it
obvious and telegraph that that's what they're gonna do. But
they are clearly not happy about this at all, and
who can blame them? Yeah, let's go to Brian in

(50:38):
the Bay Area. Brian, what's up? Good morning, follows. How's
it going today? Let me take you back a little
bit off of the phone's ay here out here in
the Bay Area. Also, rad fan Amy trash uh was
planning on well, you know, I work in the city
of Openly building to fifty two of Uhum seat stadium

(51:03):
for about seven fifty to eight hundred fifty million dollars.
And she has probably said herself, from what the Knight
did for one point three billion dollars, it would be
far superior, superior and technologically advanced than what they did.
Where does the Nighters get the team museum concept from?
When the Niners and Raisers were semi talking about doing

(51:25):
a joint stadium, there would have been well actually seeing
more leg room, actual individual screens and the seats to
massive screens that both sides can see at eye level
by reducing all that extra costs of concrete and seats
and etcetera, etcetera. You could have done that out here
in the area. The current Oakland Colosseum. We tarp it off.

(51:50):
They can get up to sixty three, sixty four, sixty
foot or whatever, but we only sell out, you know,
fifty three or fifty six, whatever it is, the six
thousand people in there. We talked, we just don't have
the kind of fans that can come out here in
the Bay Area and support a team with sixty five

(52:10):
thousand people. And if you want a Super Bowl, that
is something that NFL implemented that you have to have
it is pretty requirement. You have to at least six stadium,
which is horrible. It's sixty six thousand plus, barely over
the limit. Yeah, that's what happened. I think that's the future.

(52:32):
And thanks for the call. I mean, I think that
if if I were an NFL executive right now and
I were talking about building a stadium, I would want
like a fifty thousand seat stadium at most, and I
would want all fifty thousand of those seats to be fantastic.
I would want to give people an opportunity and an
environment that they can't get elsewhere. Now. Also, I mean
you can do things like Arthur Blank, the owner of

(52:54):
the of the Atlanta Falcons, is doing keep the cost
for concessions love. I mean, really, how much money do
you actually make off of concessions if you run a
football stadium in the grand scheme of things, if you
are a billionaire, I would love to see the finances
on that. How much difference does it make if you

(53:15):
make a pizza ten dollars versus if you make a
pizza four dollars. I just you should run your concessions
in a major NFL venue or major pro sports venue
to break even this is an amenity for somebody to come, right.
I think Arthur Blank is being really smart about doing that.
The place that's done it better than any other in

(53:35):
the world of sports that I'm aware of is The Masters.
The Masters doesn't charge hardly anything for beer or food
and everything else because you want to incentivize people to
come in. I mean, I I got money to spend now,
but three personal pan pizzas, three Gatorades, and two beers
cost me sixty five dollars at the Titans game on

(53:56):
Sunday as sixty five dollars for three personal pan pizzas,
for three gatorades, and for two beers. I mean, that's crazy.
That's like I could have gone to Morton's and had
a steak myself for the same amount that I paid
for three personal pan pizzas, three gatorades, and two beers.
I mean, a really good meal at a really nice steakhouse.

(54:19):
I could get in and out for sixty five bucks.
It's crazy to me. All Right, we're gonna continue to
take your calls. I'm gonna tell you the college football
playoff picture as well as we'll circle back around on
the NFL reactions. I am Clay Travis. Great Monday here
on Outcake the Coverage. Thanks for hanging with us wherever
you are across the country. We'll keep rolling. Welcome back

(54:39):
and Outcake the coverage. With True Car, you can find

same car you're looking for and on average save over
three grand off M s r P. Whether you're looking
for a new or used car. Visit True Car to
enjoy a more confident car buying experience. All Right, I
want to pull the crew. A lot of a lot
of disbelief out there in the universe that John Gruden

(55:01):
might leave Monday Night Football and take a coaching job,
and in particular that he might take over as the
next head coach at the University of Tennessee. I think
there's a very good chance that it happens. We will say,
why would it happen? Well, Gruden's son is currently enrolled
at the University of Tennessee. Gruden has been a Tennessee
fan for a while, ever since he met his wife

(55:22):
at the University of Tennessee when he was a graduate assistant.
She was a cheerleader at the University of Tennessee. The
family has talked about relocating to East Tennessee. His in
laws are all still there, and most importantly, you can
become a legend as a college football coach. Made this
argument before, but I think it's worth focusing on how

(55:45):
many legendary NFL coaches are there in the last twenty years,
Bill Belichick. I'd say that's pretty much it. Since the
twenty first century started, even going back into the nineties,
how many people will have become legendary NFL coaches Bill Belichick. Now,
certainly there's been legendary NFL coaches before Lombardi, whether you

(56:09):
want to count Tom Landry, certainly Don Shula, John Madden
to a certain extent, although he kind of became a
legend by doing television after winning a Super Bowl, Bill Walsh.
There aren't that many legends, and almost all of them
are from the earlier days of the NFL. The only
legendary coach in the last twenty five years in the

(56:31):
NFL is Bill Belichick. Think about that compared with college football,
where you meant coaching legends, I would argue that the
legendary angle of the NFL has vanished because the quarterback
has become so ascendant in NFL football that the quarterback
overshadows pretty much every coach, and even Bill Belichick if

(56:55):
you go back and look at his record until he
found Tom Brady, he was just okay, even add as
an NFL head coach. So really, you become legendary in
the NFL by being a quarterback. You become legendary by
being a coach in college football. They put statues up
to you. John Gruden could become a legend at the

(57:16):
University of Tennessee. You could become the fourth coach to
win a national title and a Super Bowl. Jimmy Johnson
has done it, Pete Carroll has done it, and Barry
Switzer has done it. Gruden could become the fourth. So
I want to pull the crew here, Jason Martin, do
you think John Gruden is legitimately in the running? This
has become the ultimate test right now in the world

(57:38):
of college football. Are you of the belief that John
Gruden is interested in the Tennessee job or is it
pure insanity? Is he interested or is it an insanity?
Is he interested at all? I don't know that he's
entertained it at all. I don't think it's gonna happen.
I think if he ever does coach again or will
be in the NFL. And I'm not even sure that
that is going to happen. But no, I don't necessarily well,

(57:59):
I mean to say he's in the running. Yeah, sure
he's in the running. Sure Tennessee is gonna look at him.
I don't think it's gonna happen. And I think it's
maybe like a I don't know, five or ten percent
of his day, maybe he's thinking about Tennessee. But I
don't think it's anywhere close to something that's actually possible.
I think it's I mean, I think anytime a big
decision like this is made, I think there is a
fifty percent chance at least that John Gruden becomes the

(58:21):
next head coach at the University of Tennessee. You guys
in l A are completely impartial. Do you think it's crazy? Yeah,
we're impartial. But also was a season tike. I was
a season ticket holder when Chucky was the head coach
of the Raiders back in the day. This you gotta
understand this guy, and and you probably already know this
just from watching him on TV. He has a huge ego.

(58:42):
I really don't see him taking anything less than the
top available NFL job, And that's just because he strikes
me as the kind of guy who would want another
super Bowl. But see, I think that if if he
is being objective, if I were advising him, if okay,
let's say you win another super Bowl. He won a
super Bowl in Tampa Bay and they fired him, and

(59:04):
is he even like how how beloved is he in
Tampa Bay? Maybe now in retrospect they would hire him
to come in and work with Jamis Winston. There seems
to be some people in Tampa Bay who want that
to happen because the coaching staff is is such a
mess right now with this Jamis Winston situation. They won
last last night yesterday by the way, to get to
three and six. But I think it's fair to say

(59:24):
that the Giants and the Bucks are the two most
disappointing teams so far in the season in terms of
what we would have hoped to see from them versus
what we're actually seeing from them. The Giants that are
at the hope that they were going to contend for
a Super Bowl didn't happen, hasn't even close come come
to fruition, and then the Box the expectation was at
a minimum they would contend for the NFC South and

(59:47):
instead they've kind of just totally gotten embarrassed here and
Jamis Winston is out with an injury. So I don't
buy into the idea that if you go to the
NFL you're gonna be like I think that college football
is made for coaches. College football makes coaches legendary. We
don't talk as much about players in college football as
we do coaches, and that's because the players turn over

(01:00:08):
every three or four years. So what stands and remains
is the college football coach, whereas in the NFL we
talked about quarterbacks, and so if you have a good quarterback,
you win at a high level. But I feel like
a top ten, top twenty college job, if you start rolling,
is better than an NFL job for a coaching perspective.

(01:00:28):
And I don't buy into this idea about like people
are like, oh, you have to spend so much time recruiting.
Nick Saban has a flip phone. A lot of your
recruiting is done based on your name and based on
people wanting to come play for you. I mean again
that that to me is a great detail out there.
People are like, oh, Nick Saban spends all this time
recruiting and everything else. Nick Saban has a flip phone.

(01:00:49):
People want to come to Alabama. He does a good
job breaking down the film and figuring out who they
want to offer. But this idea that Nick Saban is
like texting sixteen or seventeen year old recruits all hours
of every day is just laughable. Um, I think you
can balance out that recruiting calendar a lot more uh
than than people realize. You make a good point with that,

(01:01:11):
But don't you think that Gruden has a bad taste
in his mouth from how it ended in the NFL
and how the Bucks got rid of him, And not
just that, but he's also had to live with the
whispers that it was really Tony Dungee's players, don't I
don't think. I don't think. I think that's so overplayed.
I mean, the other team that he played against was
his own. I mean, so he was good enough to

(01:01:32):
get two different teams to the super Bowl is the
way that I would look at that. And I don't
think that factors in. And Tony Dungee only won one
super Bowl. I mean, it's it would be different. I
think if Tony Dungee had won like eight Super Bowls,
like the person who comes in and takes over for
Bill Belichick. Okay, you can definitely live with the whispers
of oh, he won with Bill Belichick's players. Tony Dungee
never actually won anything. So to me, when you say

(01:01:54):
like he won with somebody else's players, that's if somebody
already won a championship there and then you follow them up,
Like I think it's fair to say Larry Coker one
with Butch Jones, with Butcher Davis's players at Miami. That's
something Larry Coker has to live with. It's still impressive
to have one. But that's a guy who followed an
incredible success and then immediately, like lad that team astray.

(01:02:19):
You can't win with somebody else's players when somebody else
didn't win in the first place, you took them to
a different caliber and a different level. So I don't think.
I don't think that factors in and John Gruden's thinking
at all, particularly because he was playing against the team
that he built in the Raiders in the Super Bowl.
So I mean, I think at that point in time,
that's a pretty outstanding kind of of of set up

(01:02:43):
for him. So I don't think I don't think that
factors in his decision making at all. I think that
John Gruden is what the The decision that John Gruden
has to make is one. So let me take a
step here. I think that this is not getting enough discussion.
ESPN is gonna have to fire another hundred because they've
wildly overpaid for sports rights and their business is collapsing.

(01:03:05):
And let's assume that John Gruden makes six and a
half or seven million dollars a year. It wouldn't stun
me at all if they go to John Gruden and say, hey,
is it possible you could take less money, or it
wouldn't stund me at all if they've already gone to
him and said that. Moreover, ESPN has also let it
be known that they're not going to have Monday Night
Football when this contract runs out because they can't afford

(01:03:27):
it anymore. I mean, the degree to which ESPN's business
is collapsing is totally underdiscussed and under analyzed and misunderstood
by the average person out there who's a fan or
in the media covering uh this industry. ESPN is Blockbuster Video.
They are screwed. So I don't buy into this idea
that John Gruden can continue to make seven or eight

(01:03:48):
million dollars a year on Monday Night Football at ESPN
for the next decade. But he's fifty four years old.
If he's gonna get back into coaching, he's around the
same age that Nick Saban was when he went to Alabama.
He could coach for a decade, he could win a
national title at Tennessee, and then he could ride off
into the sunset at sixty and go back to do

(01:04:08):
the the NFL again. The thing about leaving behind about
calling football games for a living is you can always
go back and do it again. It's not like going
to become a coach makes him less valuable if he
decides to go back into calling games. So at some
point in time, I think he would want a new challenge.
I think that the Tennessee job is kind of a

(01:04:29):
perfect challenge for him, and it offers him the opportunity
to become a legend again. And man, I think there's
a like I said, I think it's fifty fifty that
he takes it. If Tennessee doesn't hire John Gruden, I
think they're gonna hire Dan Mullen. I think it's gonna
be one of those two guys. But John Gruden, to me,
is a difference maker, and that he would be the
most famous person to ever go into college football coaching

(01:04:51):
for the first time, not even a close second. He
would be by far the most famous college football coach
who's never coached in college football at a as a
head coach in the history of the sport. I think
it would be amazing to see. And I think Gruden
would be incredible with the media. I think he'd be
great recruiting, and he'd be great with moms, grandma's, dad's,
everybody out there who you have to impress. And I

(01:05:13):
think he would like the idea of being effectively the
pope of a state. That's what I called. That's what
a college football coaches in the SEC. You're like the
pope of a state. You know, you walk around, you wave,
you might as well get a popemobile. Uh, you're bigger
than the governor as like the pope. It's like you're
the head of a religious order. If you are the
head coach of a major college program in the South,

(01:05:36):
it's unlike anywhere else. And in terms of the obligations
and responsibilities, And I think next time we'll get Lane
Kiffin on the show, I'll ask him about that. I
think he was totally unprepared for what that responsibility was
like when he took over the Tennessee job for the
first time, because he's coming from USC, where Lane Kiffin is,
what the seven hundred the most famous person when he's
the head coach in l A. Maybe not even seven hundred.

(01:05:58):
In the city of Los Angeles, people, you have a
degree of anonymity even if you're the USC coach because
there's so many other people in l A who are
more famous than you. When Lane Kiffin took over the
Tennessee job, he became the most famous person in the
state of Tennessee, bar none. And everybody wants you to
kiss the baby. Everybody wants you to like, you know,
right around in the popemobile and wave and say all

(01:06:20):
the right things. And I think Lane Kiffin, who was
like thirty three or thirty four years old, just had
no idea what he was getting into. Now I think
he understands it better. He's at f a U, he's
been at Alabama, Like he understands the culture of SEC
football more. And that's why I think if I were Arkansas,
for instance, I would go higher Lane Kiffin, zero doubt.
I think he would win at a higher level. If
you listen to his interview with US on Friday, what

(01:06:42):
he's done marrying kind of the highest end of a
pro style offensive set with what Art Briles did at Baylor.
I think his offense is almost unstoppable right now. I
think he's orders of magnitude ahead of everybody else. What
he and Kendall Briles are doing at f AU right now,
they're gonna win Conference USA. If I were an a

(01:07:03):
d at at a place like Arkansas, at a place
like uh, frankly, I I don't know what other jobs
are gonna open up, even Nebraska, I would look at him.
I mean seriously, I would because I think Lane Kiffin
is gonna win at a really high level. But so
l A, do you guys think it's likely or not?
I'm saying it's fifty fifty Grood into Tennessee. Are you
guys buying in at all? Negative? Sir? Zero? You think

(01:07:24):
is zero present? I want to go that far anything
as possible, but definitely far less than fifty. Alright, we're
gonna see what happens. Let's bring in Eddie Garcia, Eddie,
what do you believe? Is this crazy? Crazy? No? Unlikely? Yes,
I agree with uh with some of the other boys
here on the show. I think he's going back to
the NFL alright uniform disagreement with my position that there's

(01:07:45):
a good chance he's gonna be a Tennessee. We'll find
out what's the update, my man. Well in the NFL
Week ten action, Let's check in on some of the
key games, including Sunday Night, where the Patriots roll over
the Broncos in Denver, New England, seven and two. They've
won five in a row. Tom Brady at three TV
PA is to three different receivers. Denver's dropped five in
a row. In the late games, Falcons over the Cowboys
twenty seven to seven. That was the first game for

(01:08:07):
Dallas without their suspended star running back zek l At
quarterback Dak Prescott was sacked eight times, including six times
by Atlantis Adrian Clayborne Rams over the Texans thirty three
seven l A seven and two. They won four in
a row. Jared goff at three TD passes in the win.
Forty Niners get their first win of the year, beating
the Giants one in early action of note Saints when
there's seventh straight there seven and two. They beat up

(01:08:28):
on the Bills in Buffalo forty seven to ten, mark
Ingram three touchdown runs for New Orleans Deelers getta last
second field goal to get by the Colts seventeen Pittsburgh
seven and two. They won four straight. Vikings are seven
and two with their fifth straight winners. They beat the
Redskins on the road thirty eight thirty and the Lions
down the Browns thirty twenty four. Matthew Stafford three touchdown
basses for Detroit. Cleveland is still winless now oh n nine.

(01:08:49):
This report is brought to you by True Car. With
True Car, you can find out what other people in
your area paid for the same car you're looking for
new were used visit True Car and enjoying more confident
car buying experience and Clay Real Quick in the NBA
to sell thinks of one twelve in a row. We
beat the Raptors. They get to win without Kyrie Irving,
who missed the game with a facial fracture. If you
took an elbow from a team, remember Boston started year

(01:09:10):
oh and two. They lost Gordon Hayward. But they've won
twelve on a row since. Wow, it's almost like, uh,
the NBA regular seasons actually going on. Totally forget every day.
Uh coming to you live from the Geico Outkicks studios.
Everybody's got it to do. List, drop off the dry cleaning,
pick up some milk. Here's an idea. Let's add save
hundreds of dollars on car insurance. And the good thing
is you don't have to drop off or pick up anything.

(01:09:30):
All you have to do is go to Geico dot
com and in fifteen minutes you could save pent or
more on car insurance, extra money in your pocket. It
just maybe the most rewarding to do you do today.
All Right, they are eight teams still alive, by the way,
eight seven, seven, six, three six nine. Eight teams still
alive for the college football playoff. I'm gonna break down
all of those eight what they need to do. Also,

(01:09:52):
we'll take your calls. Do you believe Butch Butch Jones
have been fired? Do you think John grewd into the
ball as possibility? Here's the deal. I think that four.
I'm shifting my opinion on what Florida is gonna do. Initially,
I thought Florida was gonna go Scott Frost. I now
think the University of Florida is gonna hire Chip Kelly,
and I think that's gonna terrify everybody in college football
because I think Chip Kelly is gonna be absolutely dominant

(01:10:16):
at Florida. Let's go on a poll. Do you think
Chip Kelly is going to Florida Jason Martin? See, that's tough,
and I think it necessarily would have to do with
what Tennessee does, because I think Dan Mullins still makes
a ton of sense in Florida with all his history there,
and I just really like Mullins, so I could see
Mullin going there as well. But I certainly would not
vote against Chip Kelly going to Florida and being very
good there. So what I predict him to go there,

(01:10:38):
I don't know, because I haven't seen the evidence to
say that he's going there. So I guess I'll say
no for right now. I'm going chip Kelly to Florida now.
And I think the reason why Chip Kelly is gonna
go to Florida is he fits the culture. If you
know the Florida Gator football program at all, you know
that ever since Steve Spurrier was there. Who I think
we had Spurrier on the show either last week or
the week before. Spurrier set in place of culture at Florida,

(01:11:00):
and that culture is this, you gotta win, and you
gotta do it in a fun, offensive fashion. You gotta
score a lot of points. Gator fans would rather go
nine and three and score forty five points a game
then they would go ten into and score seventeen points
a game. That's what we learned with Will must Champ, who's,
by the way, done a really good job at South Carolina.

(01:11:20):
I'm telling you that Chip Kelly fits perfectly that lineage
of Steve Spurrier going directly into Urban Meyer after the
ron Zook era, and then they've had two misfires. They
had Will must Champ, who I think could have one
and did. Look, he won eleven games in year two

(01:11:42):
at Florida, but it's just that he wasn't a great fit.
He was a defensive coach. And then they said, Okay,
we gotta just we gotta go get an offensive coach,
and they went and got Jim mcgwaine, and all Jim
mcgwaan did was win with Will must champs defensive players,
and he never could say for a couple of games
that he had with Will Greer, actually get anything rolling
in a positive direction there. And so as a result,

(01:12:05):
I think that they need to go back and find
somebody who offensively can dominate, somebody who can be in
and take that baton from Steve Spurrier to Urban Meyer
to Chip Kelly. Chip Kelly went forty six and seven
at Oregon. I think he would get down to Florida,
best program in the Sunshine State, doesn't have to go
very far to recruit, gets a bunch of really good recruiters,

(01:12:27):
and has a quality of player he's never had before
for his offense, and I think he could roll and
I think he'd win a national championship at Florida. He
is to me, the clearest and easiest guy out there
to be able to win a championship is Chip Kelly.
So if I'm in charge of Florida right now, I
would go get Chip Kelly. And I feel confident that

(01:12:49):
in the next five years they would be in the
playoff with a good chance to win a championship. I
really do and uh and they would also fit the culture.
They would score points I think that's a bad deal
for the rest of college football. For Chip Kelly to
take over a program like Florida, I really do. I
think that would be a fantastic fit. See how he
does coaching against John Gruden at Tennessee. Uh. We will

(01:13:11):
finish off the hour. Take your calls eight seven, seven,
six nine. I'll give you the college Football playoff picture
top of our three. Will dive back into all the
big stories from the weekend that was in college football
and the NFL, and we'll have Casey Smith on from
up in Boston to talk about the Patriots. Now that
the Patriots have righted the ship and are seven and
two and the number two overall seed in the n

(01:13:33):
f L in the a f C, are the people
of Boston starting to get a little bit more confident
after a wobbly start to the season for the Patriots.
We'll talk about all of that and more. I'm Clay Travis.
This is outkicked the coverage. We've got two pole questions
up for you out there. If you're on Twitter and
you decide you want to weigh in. UH, we have
got which Bennett brother is the bigger liar? Michael Place

(01:13:57):
for the Seattle Seahawks and lied about Las Vegas police
racism or more. Tell Us now plays for the New
England Patriots, played last night who lied about his injury
status to get released by the packerscent of you saying
Michael Bennett is the bigger liar? Do you believe is
the other question? Do you believe John Gruden will be
the next Tennessee Valls coach? Approaching a thousand votesent of

(01:14:21):
you saying no, I'll tell you this. I would love
to see Twitter's reaction if John Gruden takes the Tennessee job,
because I think a lot of these like I will
just say this that the big boosters at Tennessee are
making a move to try to get John Gruden. Is
it possible that John Gruden is using the University of
Tennessee to leverage another job or to leverage more money. Yes, certainly,

(01:14:44):
that's always possible. My contract is up here at the
end of June on the radio show, they are gonna
be other people bidding for me to do other jobs.
That's me exploring all my options. My agent's gonna do
a good job getting the most money for me possible.
And that's what you do anytime you're in a situation
where you don't have a contract in the year's at

(01:15:07):
you use whatever existing potential jobs are out there to
maximize your revenue. That happens all the time. It's a
good position to be in if you have other options.
So it's always a possibility that's going on, always possibility
that John Gruden just wants more money. You know, in general,
I don't know what he's gonna do with more money, right,

(01:15:30):
I mean, I understand the difference. There's a big difference
between making a million dollars a year to coach football
and making six million dollars a year to coach football.
It's a big difference between making a million dollars and
six million dollars. But once you're making six or seven
million dollars, do you make decisions over whether you're gonna
make six million dollars a year or whether you're gonna
make seven point five. I'm not saying making an extra

(01:15:53):
million and a half dollars is not a nice situation
to be in, but put it in your own life
and take out the millions. If you have a job
you love and you're making sixty dollars a year, do
you take another one that you don't know if you're
gonna like because you're making seventy five thousand dollars a year,
maybe you do. Maybe some of you out there like, oh,
my life will be completely different if I make another

(01:16:14):
fifteen thousand dollars. I would tap the brakes on that.
I would say that you should choose the job that
you think you're gonna be happier in, because fifteen thousand
dollars doesn't change your life. Similarly, if you're making six
million dollars a year, I don't think making seven point
five is gonna suddenly make your life astoundingly better. It's

(01:16:34):
all a function of percentages at that point. So I
believe that John Gruden is legitimately in the mix. I
think there are a lot of big dollar boosters at
Tennessee that believe John Gruden is the answer to all
of their problems, that he can come back and return
Tennessee football to glory, to top ten historical program that
over the last decade or so has not been very good.

(01:16:56):
People out there say, oh, and this goes for any job.
By the way, people say, oh, why would so and
so take that job? That team sucks? Well, The people
who make comments like that are typically pretty dumb. When
Nick Saban took over Alabama, Alabama had been awful for
much of the last fifteen years, people said, and you
could go back and you could read, We could pull
up tons of columns in two thousand five and two

(01:17:18):
thousand six talking about how Alabama football was done, how
Alabama football was never gonna be good again, how the
pressure of that job was such that nobody wanted it.
From when Gene Stallings won a national championship at Alabama
all the way up until Nick Saban took that job
in two thousand six, Alabama by and large, for most

(01:17:39):
of that fourteen years was very mediocre to bad. They
were about where Tennessee is for the last decade, except
a longer period of not being very good. That's the truth.
And so in college football you can turn it around
in a hurry if you get the right coach, and
I think Jon Gruden is the right coach. People disagree

(01:17:59):
with me out there there is right now. The poll
question is up uh percent of you with thousands of
votes rolling in. You can find me on Twitter at
Clay Travis. Percent of you say that he is not
going to come to Tennessee. But think about what Twitter
would have been like if it had existed when Nick
Saban was being pursued by Alabama, when Urban Meyer was

(01:18:22):
being pursued by Ohio State, when Jim Harbaugh was being
pursued by Michigan. I would say the last three major,
big time hires in college football. And that's what I
would say. Those three were hardbort of Michigan. Saban to
Alabama and Urban Meyer to Ohio State were three of

(01:18:44):
the best, slow moving kind of directions. Trying to think
how to phrase this, it was there was so much
smoke surrounding those three decisions for a long time, and
what do people constantly say, Oh, it's not gonna happen,
full of it, there's no truth to this, all this
stuff right, and then it ends up happening. I would

(01:19:05):
say it's a lot like that right now with John
Gruden in Tennessee. Now, maybe at the end, John Gruden's
gonna say, you know what, I don't want to do this,
I don't want this job. Maybe he goes to the NFL,
Maybe he decides not to coach at Tennessee. Maybe he
decided to say Monday Night football. But I think this
is the off season where if John Gruden is going
to coach, he's gonna make a move. And I would say,

(01:19:26):
right now, if you go back in time and you
look at the way Hardball to Michigan, Urban Meyer to
Ohio State, and Nick Saban to Alabama were covered, they're
very similar to what it looks like right now with
John Gruten to Tennessee. A lot of smoke, but then
also a lot of people out there saying, oh, you
people are crazy. There's smoke here, but you guys are

(01:19:47):
just making it up. There's no fire, there's no basis
whatsoever to believe that this is gonna happen. Most recent
one is Hardball. You go back and look, all the
NFL people are like you, Michigan people are crazy. There's
no way, Jim Harball stay go over to Michigan job.
He's an NFL guy. He's gonna be an NFL coach.
Remember Nick Saban, I will not be the head coach
at the University of Alabama. Malmore sitting in the sitting

(01:20:09):
on the sidewalk outside parked in his car, begging for
Nick Saban to let him come in and talk to him.
And then Urban Meyer best unkept secret about him going
to Ohio State. He's there at ESPN for one year,
miraculously gets healthy, takes over the Ohio State job a
year after leaving Florida. All three of those jobs. At

(01:20:32):
some point in time, there were skeptics saying, there's no
way they're ever gonna take it, No way he's gonna
take this job, and it ends up happening. All right,
college football would have eight teams still alive for the playoff,
NFL Playoff picture, the weekend that was in the NFL
and college football. We start off the show Our three
as you're waking up across the country, putting everything into
context for you. Then we're gonna go up to Boston

(01:20:54):
and talk to Casey Smith about the Patriots, a big win,
all of that coming more to you and our three
eight seven, seven s nine. If you want to react
and tell me I'm crazy. Final Hour, Monday Edition, I'll
get the coverage next live from the Get Go Out

(01:21:37):
you turn that game off, we did not pay attention
as you're waking up across the h country. I thought
I would hit the playoff picture for you right now
in the NFL and then talk about the more interesting storyline,
which is college football. They start off the show this morning,
if you weren't awake, talking about the fact that, to me,
college football is an infinitely better product than the NFL.
I spent all day Saturday watching college football games than Sunday.

(01:22:00):
I went to an NFL game, granted it with the
Bengals Titans, but I think Bengals Titans is kind of
reflective of what the average NFL game is like. And look,
this game was exhilarating in terms of the way it finished,
but there was long stretches of awfulness during the middle
of it. Before the Bengals hit a seventy one yard
touchdown pass with a J. Green and the Titans followed
it up with a touchdown, stretching the ball out over

(01:22:20):
the goal line by to Marco Murray with just a
few seconds left in the game. It was a big
win for the Titans. I'm not sure how good they are,
but the Titans are six and three and Thursday night
they'll now play against the number one seed in the
NFL on the road in Pittsburgh, the Steelers. So Thursday
night football. Pretty good game. But right now, if the
season we're ending today, this is what the playoff picture

(01:22:43):
would look like. Pittsburgh Steelers seven and two, New England
Patriots seven and two, they would be your overall bye
week teams. The two best teams in the a f C.
Kansas City would be your three seed there one in Sorry,
they're six and three, but they were one in three
in their last four games. They were on to buy
this week. We'll see what they look like as they
come out of that by the Titans. As I said,

(01:23:03):
I don't know how good they are, but they're six
and three Jacksonville. They're good everywhere, but the quarterback position.
Blake Bortles tried to give away that game against the
Chargers this past yesterday they went into overtime that Jacksonville
found a way to win h Buffalo five and four.
Anybody out there still believe in Tyrod Taylor or the Bills.
When they were five and two, I said I didn't

(01:23:24):
believe in them. They got blown out by the Jets
and then they got absolutely obliterated by the Saints at
home this past weekend. They are still in the six spot.
Miami Dolphins played at night. They are four and four.
If they win, I'm not sure who would have the
tie break, but they are still in the mix to
potentially make the playoffs as well every other team in
the a f C. The other nine teams in the

(01:23:45):
a f C all have losing records right now. What
about the NFC. The Eagles had a bye week, but
they're eight and one, best record in the NFL. The
Vikings are looking pretty good behind Case Kingdom seven and two.
Maybe I should believe in them. The Saints are seven
into as well, the Rams seven into three. Really good
seven and two teams. Uh in the two, the three,

(01:24:05):
and the four spots in the NFC playoffs. If the
season ended today, then the wild card teams would be
the Seattle Seahawks and the Carolina Panthers. Meanwhile, the Falcons,
the Lions, Green Bay, and Dallas all contending there for
the final wild card spot at five and four. So
lots to discuss about the NFL. We've been talking about

(01:24:26):
it all show long. What in the world has happened
to the Cowboys? They lose their left tackle, they can
block at all? And guess what, we'll see whether or
not Dak Prescott can carry this team without Ezekiel Elliott
to rely on five more games for the Cowboys without
Zeke and it's hard for me to believe that they're
gonna be very good in those five games. Meanwhile, Jerry
Jones versus the NFL, the feud continues there, which is

(01:24:47):
probably more entertaining, frankly than any of the games were
on Sunday. And we'll see whether or not the Falcons
can make a run as well as the Lions in
Green Bay in the NFC North, or if Minnesota is
and runaway with that division. So lots of storylines there
in the NFL will continue to unpack them all weekend
will spend a decent amount of time I would imagine
talking about Monday Night football. The Dolphins going up against

(01:25:10):
the Panthers in that game tonight. The Panthers are nearly
a double digit favorite, nine point favorite according to Las Vegas.
But to me, much more interesting and entertaining storyline is
college football and the NFL than the NFL and in
college football right now, I feel like there's a lot
of people who don't really understand the landscape of college football.

(01:25:32):
There are eight teams alive right now to win the title.
Eight teams can still win the college football title. Eight
teams can still make the playoffs. Who are those teams
and what has to happen in order for them to
make the playoffs. We've got eight teams alive for the
title from four different conferences. So if you are a
Pac twelve fan, I'm sorry your playoff dreams died on

(01:25:57):
Friday night when Stanford beat why Shington? Whoever the Pack
twelve champ is, and it looks like it's gonna be
USC playing somebody. We don't know exactly who's gonna emerge
from the Pack twelve North, but whoever that champ is
really has no chance to play for the title. So
the entire West Coast has already been eliminated. From the
College Football Playoff. There four conferences that still have teams alive.

(01:26:19):
Let's start with the SEC. The SEC even with that
tremendous win by Auburn. And what's funny is Gus miles
On is like on the hot seat coming into this
game and then Auburn comes out and wins by such
a huge margin that I think a lot of people
who watched that game between our between Georgia and Auburn
or now c man by the end of this year,

(01:26:39):
Auburn might be the best team in college football. And
I said this early in the season. I said, if
you pay attention to what Gus malls On does with
that offense in two thousand and ten, the offense by
the end of the year was totally different than the
offense at the beginning of the year. Gus miles ons
offenses get better every week all season long if things

(01:27:00):
are going in the right direction. Same thing happened with
Nick Marshall in Auburn almost won the title. Telling you
right now, Auburn is getting better every weekend. And I'm,
if I'm an Alabama fan, very nervous about whether we
can go into Auburn and win that game. Why does
that matter well, because if Alabama doesn't beat Auburn, they
don't win the SEC West and they don't get to

(01:27:21):
play for the championship. Now maybe eleven and one, Alabama
could still be in the mix to make the playoff.
I think they would be, but Auburn would be pulling
one of the greatest runs of all time because they
would beat number one Georgia have effectively a bye week
to play against who they playing like Louisiana Monroe, somebody
not very good, and then they play Alabama, who's now

(01:27:43):
the new number one team in the country, And then
they would play Georgia again, who's now a top five team,
And if Auburn win eleven in two, they would make
the playoff. So Auburn's playoff dreams are still alive. Georgia
basically gets a mulligan here. They got their ass kicked,
no two ways about it. They were not ready for
what Auburn put on them. But they go back home.

(01:28:04):
They should beat Kentucky, then they should beat Georgia Tech,
and they will roll into the SEC title game eleven
and one. If that happens and they win the SEC Championship,
they'll be in the playoff. So if you're a Kirby
Smart and you're Georgia, you go back, you lick your wounds,
just say, man, we got our ass kicked, But that
game really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

(01:28:25):
We still have to win the SEC championship in order
to make the playoff, and now we know exactly what
we need to do. We gotta win. The final three
games of the season will be in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Alabama,
they did what the Tide do. They found a way
to win even when they didn't play perfectly. This is
an incredible stat for you. Alabama has not lost a
game by double digits in the regular season since two

(01:28:50):
thousand and ten. It's an unbelievable stack. Guys. Alabama has
been number one at some point in time in every
year two thousand eight, two thousand nine, two thousand ten,
two thousand eleven, two thousand, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen,
and seventeen. Ten straight years that Alabama at some point

(01:29:12):
in time has been number one in the country. That's
an unbelievable run the likes of which we will probably
never see again again. Ten straight seasons, and since two
thousand and ten in the regular season, only one team
has beaten Alabama by more than a touchdown. Nick Saban

(01:29:33):
is on an entirely different level as a head coach
than anybody else in college football. Think about that. Urban
Meyer in the last eleven games has lost three times
by double digits. Lost by thirty one to Clemson in
the playoff last year, lost by fifteen to Oklahoma at
home in the Shoe this year, and then just lost

(01:29:53):
by thirty one against Iowa a couple of weeks ago.
Nick Saban hasn't lost by double jets, hasn't lost by
more than a touchdown in a game in the regular
season since two thousand ten. So Alabama potentially obviously still
in the mix there. So there's three SEC teams still
live to make the playoff, Bama, Georgia, and Auburn. As possible,

(01:30:14):
the SEC can still get two as well. We'll see
what happens there. In terms of the Big Twelve, it's
Oklahoma or bust. Here's the deal. I am not a
fan of conference title games. Why because most of the
time I think they're unnecessary. We play the regular season
of college football to figure out who the champ is.
I don't need to arbitrary teams to suddenly play in

(01:30:36):
a quote unquote title game to tell me who the
champ is. If Oklahoma beats Kansas and if they beat
UH West Virginia to finish this season, they are the champs.
There's no doubt. They are undisputed the champs of the
Big Twelve. Yet they're probably gonna have to play TCU again,
a team they just beat the crap out of on Saturday.

(01:30:58):
Why Because the Big Twelve made the misguided decision that
they needed a conference title game to be able to
advance a team to the playoff. They were wrong. It
was a bad decision. But Oklahoma is still in the
mix from the Big Twelve. They are the only team
right now still in the mix, and if they go
twelve and one, they're definitely gonna be in the playoff.
How about the A C C. Miami. I gotta give

(01:31:20):
it up to the you. I haven't believed in him.
I was wrong, the you was right. Throw up the
sign it's time for you to be back. I love
Mark Rick, and of all the coaches right now, I
would love Mark Rick to win a national championship. I
really would. I think he's a great dude, I think
he's put in his time. He's been close a bunch

(01:31:40):
of years. Can you imagine anything more Georgia than them
firing Mark Richt and him winning a championship at Miami
two years later. Meanwhile, Georgia is still can't get it done.
I like to say that Georgia is the ultimate almost team.
The the the phrase Georgia ing I've made peeler Like
when you think everything is going perfect, then you find

(01:32:04):
suddenly a way to choke and lose even though you
should win. That's George. You can make it happen in
your own life. You think you're about to take home
that girl from the bar, and next thing you know,
your drunk roommate says something inappropriate to one of her
friends and she bails your buddy Georgia at the bar.
If you are driving and you look down the check

(01:32:27):
a text message and as a result, you're rear in
the car in front of you, you just george at it.
You're on your way out, everything is going great. You
happen to look down for a minute at your phone,
you're rear in the car in front of you. Boom,
You just george at it. You can make it happen
in your own life. George ng is a thing. Be
the ultimate Georgia move possible. If Mark Rick, the coach
they fired for not being able to win a national championship,

(01:32:50):
takes over the job at Miami and goes and wins
a national championship there. It would be the ultimate Georgia move.
If Georgia played Miami for the national championship and Mark
Rick beat Kirby Smart, because then, I mean, really, if
you follow Georgia football at all, that would be the
ultimate Georgia football story possible. They right there on the precipice,

(01:33:11):
you think, man, we're gonna win this championship. We got
this in the bag. And then they lose to the
coach they fired because he couldn't win a championship. That
is the ultimate Georgia move. So Georgia uh is is
in the mix in the SEC, but so is their
former coach Mark Rick at Miami. Unbelievable run. They should
beat Virginia, and they should beat when at Pittsburgh to

(01:33:32):
be eleven and oh playing against probably twelve and eleven
and one Clemson, and that will be effectively a playoff
game between Miami and Clemson, assuming Clemson can get past
South Carolina. Wil Mus Champ is having a really good
year at South Carolina. That's a rivalry game. If you're
not familiar with the state of South Carolina, it's an
amazing game, huge passion, a lot of disdain, a lot

(01:33:55):
of hate their Clemson going on the road against South Carolina.
It's a cliche, but throw out the record book. Even
though this year, in year two, Wilmas Champs team seven
and three overall should be eight and three and have
a pretty good shot to win that game. And then
finally in the Big Ten, we've got Wisconsin, who is
tenan oh and finally plays a decent team with Jim

(01:34:18):
Harbaugh in Michigan rolling into the game, they're at Camp
Randall and Ohio State is on the very periphery here.
How would Ohio State get in? Even though they lost
by thirty one to Iowa and fifteen to Oklahoma. They
potentially could get in at eleven and two if Alabama
wins out and goes thirteen and oh if in the

(01:34:39):
Big Twelve, if Oklahoma wins out and goes twelve and one,
and in the a c C, if Miami wins out
and goes twelve and oh Then theoretically Ohio State could
be the best of the two lost teams available if
they beat Wisconsin to win the Big Ten title. Still
a lot to play for were but those are the

(01:35:00):
eight teams that can make the playoff if everything goes
perfectly their way. All right, Casey Smith is going to
join us next from Boston to discuss both her aggies.
Is Kevin Sumlin on his way out or not? Can
he win out? Can he beat Old Miss and can
he beat l s u to save his job at

(01:35:21):
ADEN four? Or is Kevin Sumlin gonna be out? Plus,
she's up there in Boston where the Patriots seemed to
have reclaimed their mojo there now seven and two would
be the overall number two seed in the a f
C if the season ended tomorrow. What's the vibe in
Boston with the Patriots Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and co.
And also, what in the world is up with that
liar Mark tellis Bennett being suddenly able to play for

(01:35:44):
the Patriots despite the fact that he said he was
unable to play for the Packers? To poll questions up
there for you, I'll update you on the results. You
can go find me on Twitter at Clay Travis. You
can vote will John Gruden be the next coach at
the University of Tennessee as well, which Bennett brother is
the bigger liar, Michael who lied about the Las Vegas
police racially profiling him, or Mark tell Us who lied

(01:36:07):
about being unable to play and then miraculously got healthy
just in time to play for the Patriots on Sunday
Night on the road in Denver. We'll discuss all that
and more up next on OutKick the Coverage. Great news

She covers the Patriots, the Celtics, and every other team
that wins all the time in the city of Boston.

(01:36:48):
And Casey is the swagger back in Boston over the
Patriots after a really kind of nerve racking start to
the season where it seemed like maybe the Patriots weren't
gonna be as good as we anticipate it. Guess what,
They're seven and two and they're back to dominating people
in prime time games. Oh yeah, I mean. And that's
the thing whenever they lost that first game against the

(01:37:08):
Chiefs that everybody said, oh it's okay, you know, they
might not be as good as people thought they were
becas again, we were talking about nineteen you know during
the summer. I wasn't because I think any time you
talked about going nineteen, you know, in the NFL, it's
just ridiculous. But after that loss, it was just you know,
in Bill Belichick, the fans trust in Tom Brady. They
trust and once I think people saw that Tom Brady
didn't fall off the proverbial cliff like everybody thought he

(01:37:30):
would at forty Clay, I think that's when people are like, Okay, look,
this team is going to be okay. They get better
throughout the season every single year, and that's exactly what
you're seeing is that they're you know, projecting up. You're
seeing even with all the injuries that they had, um
that they're going to figure it out, and then the
rest of the league is just still trying to figure
out how do you stop Tom Brady and the Patriots.
And I think the kind of the feeling around here

(01:37:50):
is that this team, while it's not been perfect looking,
that they're still maybe the best team in the NFL.
It's not definitely the top three. Yeah, it's pretty fascinating
to see how quickly think have have turned around. Right
now they're the number two seed overall, and the Steelers
honestly haven't looked that great all the time they played
at the level of competition that they perform against. Meanwhile,
the Celtics also we don't hardly talk about the NBA

(01:38:12):
regular season until the playoffs start, but twelve in a row.
How in the city of Boston does the Celtics winning
twelve in a row compare to the Patriots winning what
have they won five in a row, six in a row? Whatever?
The Patriots have won. Yeah, there's five in a row
right now, I believe. But the thing about the Celtics,
it's so crazy, is that nobody thought that this was
going to happen. Once Gordon Hayward got hurt and you
look at NBA opening nights and that just horrific injury

(01:38:34):
and you're like, well, you know, they got Kyrie Irving
and that's great, but you know, we'll see what happens.
But this team, they continue to win. They've even won
two games now without Kyrie Irving, So it's kind of bizarre.
It's like you were watching some of these guys play,
like who are they? They didn't even play in the
league last year. So when people are watching the Celtics
right now, just kind of head scratching, like how they
can continue to do this in twelve in a row.

(01:38:56):
Even the NBA is not you know, it's not normal.
It's just kind of what who is this team? And
then of course what Cleveland is doing in comparison and
how salty Lebron James continues to be. That's a big
storyline right now that people actually wondering is this the
best team in the East even without the best player
in the East. So people are definitely paying attention. But
at the end of the day of the Patriots take
the cake, no question, because they're the Patriots and they've

(01:39:18):
got Tom Brady. So but definitely a fun storyline to follow,
no doubt. So you are a Cowboys fan. You grew
up in the state of Texas, even though you now
make a living talking about the Patriots and the Celtics
up in the Northeast. What's up with the Cowboys? I mean,
they didn't even seem to show up against the Falcons.
Your boy, Jerry Jones is potentially gonna suthe the entire NFL.
And now there's rumors that NFL teams uh and owners

(01:39:41):
may throw back a high heat at him and actually
threatened and forced potentially him to sell the team for
bringing in all the dirty laundry associated with the NFL.
They think that maybe he's the motivating factor behind Papa
John from Papa John's Pizza deciding to blame the NFL
for the declining pizza sales at his business. What do
you see out there around the Cowboys? Like? The drama

(01:40:03):
that surrounds the Cowboys is unlike the drama that surrounds
any other NFL team. It's extraordinary. I think Jerry Jones
a little bit like Donald Trump, thrives on dramatic situations
and drama. He doesn't need there to be clean cleanliness
around him. Everything else. Are the Cowboys done or do
you still think they're a playoff team. I think they
could still be a playoff team. But you're absolutely right.

(01:40:24):
It's a clown show right now. And it's so hard
for me to root for the Cowboys sometimes because, like
it's like when my mom used to tell me when
I was younger, like I love you, but I just
don't like you right now. She used to tell me
all the time, And that's the way that I feel
about the Dallas Cowboys, because look, I mean, I love
Dak Prescott. I think he's incredible. I loved covering him
when I covered the SEC at Mississippi State. I cannot

(01:40:46):
stand Jerry Jones half the time because of the stuff
that he does. And it's just hard to watch because
it's like, you know, the entire thing right now surrounding
the Cowboys is much more entertaining and much more easy
for people to hate than what they're actually doing on
the field. And then without Ezekiel l It, I think
it's going to be difficult for this team to win.
I think Dak Prescott's an incredible quarterback, but we don't
know what this team is gonna look like without that

(01:41:07):
running game. So I don't know, it'll be interesting, but
it's really hard to like this team right now and
what Jerry Jones is doing, and it's kind of whole
power struggle, Like he can sit back and say that
it's about domestic violence and he doesn't believe, um that
Zeke is guilty and whatever. This is all about the
fact that it's a billionaire getting mad. This is what
happened when billionaires want to get piste off, is that

(01:41:27):
I want to show that I'm more powerful than anybody else.
And it might be the end of the demise of
Jerry Jones. I don't know. I doubt that, But at
the same time, like, what are we doing here? This
is just absolutely ridiculous And it wouldn't shock me if
the Cowboys didn't make the playoffs this year and then
everybody can just you know, continue to make fun of him.
And just like the rest of my life since the nineties,
it's not been easy to be a Cowboys fan. Um,
what do you think. Where do you think Ezekiel Elliott is?

(01:41:50):
Like the rumor is that Ezekiel Elliott has left the
country and that he doesn't want to be tracked down
during this six weeks suspension, Where do you think he
has gone? I don't that's a really good question. I mean,
I would probably do the same thing. Here's the question
about a ziel Eliott is it's like it's not just
like this one thing that he's done and then all
of a sudden, you know, it's a surprise to everybody,

(01:42:11):
Like he has a track record of being a partier
of doing not very smart things. Obviously those things are
different than domestic violence. But if I'm Zeke, I just
don't want to be seen at all, because every single
thing you do is going to be scrutinized. I'd probably
be on a beach somewhere. That's probably where I would be.
But then again, you never know, like could he I
don't know this, your lawyer, you can help me. Could
he technically be playing again? Or it's just six game

(01:42:31):
suspension now I think that, And I look, this thing
has even confused me because there's been so many different
stories and we got like six different rulings in the
space of like six weeks. I can't even keep track
of all of it. I think that the next hearing
he has wouldn't happen until after the fourth game. That
he served of his suspension if I'm not mistaken, So

(01:42:52):
the absolute earliest he could be back is maybe a
game earlier than he anticipates. And so, but if I
were betting right now, I would say he's gonna have
to serve the whole six game suspension, and even if
he got back in, he would still have that kind
of floating suspension. So I think at this point in time,
it's probably better for him just to go ahead and
serve the entire six games, because you know he's gonna
miss multiple games regardless. And the thing is, he's saying like,

(01:43:14):
I'm vanishing, and I don't want to be I'm out
of the country. I don't want to get any attention.
You know, somebody's gonna see him and put it on
Instagram or Snapchat or Twitter, because you can't really hide
anymore if you're Ezekiel Elliott, like I don't even know
maybe Asia. Maybe in Asia people wouldn't recognize who he was,
but I still feel like they're Cowboy fans everywhere. There's
Ohio State Buckeye fans, NFL fans everywhere. It would be

(01:43:36):
hard for a guy like him to vanish unless you know,
like he dies his hair and shaves his head and
like totally tries to go incognito. I mean, he's got
a beard, He's a fairly noticeable guy. I would think
somebody would notice him pretty much anywhere in the country,
right anywhere in the world. I mean, yeah, exactly. Well,
and you remember Johnny Mandel went incognity of Vegas and
somebody recognized him, and he's nowhere near is recognizable as

(01:43:58):
Ezekiel Elliott. So I would like to believe that maybe
is because Elide is sitting at a blackjack table somewhere
wearing a wig and a mustache like Johnny did, just
for entertainment's sake. But at the same time, I mean,
if he if he absolutely have to serve that suspension,
he's vanished somewhere. Because if I was him and I
knew that I could potentially play the next week, maybe
I would, you know, just be low key somewhere in Dallas.

(01:44:19):
But I mean, at this point, if you've got a
month and you know you're not gonna play, maybe go
to like a an island somewhere, bring some of your
your model girlfriends. I don't know, I don't know what
they do. If you have all the money in the world.
But that's probably what I would do. Alright. So g
Q has just announced they've got four Men of the Year,
Persons of the year. Is that including Is this just men?
I don't I don't know. I'm being an idiot here

(01:44:40):
because I actually don't know the people of the year. Here,
there are four of them. I want you to react
to this casey, this is live breaking news. Stephen Colbert,
I think everybody knows Stephen Colbert. H Kevin Durant. I
think most people know Kevin Durant. I'm maybe I'm an
idiot here. I have no idea who this is, and
maybe this is just me getting old. I thought this
was a girl, Gal Goodot. I thought that was the

(01:45:02):
person who played Superwoman. Who is Gal Gadot? Do you
know who that is? Or Gal? I think it's Gal Gadot.
I have no idea who that is. Either it's a
wonder Woman. It's wonder Woman, I'm told so the g Q,
So can you make a g Q Person of the Year.
I thought g q S Person of the Year would
have to be okay, so wonder Woman. That's a woman. Okay,
So I was correct there. I wasn't sure and then

(01:45:23):
the fourth casey is Colin Kaepernick, which is really the
reason they're doing this. They've never had a Person of
the Year before at g Q, and now they decided
to do it, and they've got Colin Kaepernick on the cover.
Colin Kaepernick is this year's Person of the Year. Yes,
according to g Q. That doesn't make any sense to me.
Joined the club. Yeah, no, I guess well, first of all,
having a woman as a GQ Person of the Year

(01:45:44):
would be like putting a man on the Sports Illustrated
Body body issue or like the bikinis, So I don't
understand that one either. But I guess the whole thing
with Colin Kaepernick right now is that you know what
he was trying to do, and everybody has their different
opinions on how he did it. With the methodology like
what he says he was trying to do, I guess
people still can get behind because he believes, you know

(01:46:05):
that he had the right to protest the flag because
of what he was protesting. I just don't understand how
he could be the Person of the Year this year.
Like he's trying to sue the NFL for collusion and
it's probably not gonna win that that just this doesn't
make sense to me. He is. Evidently, according to the reports,
he has been photographed by a famous photographer in Harlem,
intending to evoke the spirit of Muhammad Ali's anti Vietnam

(01:46:28):
War protests in the neighborhood during the late nineteen sixties.
I mean, I'm gonna tee off on this tomorrow. I'm
not even going to dive into this today. Just okay,
everybody out there listening right now, appointment radio tomorrow, me
destroying GQ magazine. But to their credit, this is they
got people talking about him. They probably haven't had people
talk about g Q before and like since the nineteen eighties,
and suddenly people are talking about him again. All right, Uh, casey,

(01:46:51):
back to the world of sports. For people who are
actually on the field. Do you think that A and
M can beat Old Miss and beat ls you question one?
Question two? If they do, just Kevin someone keep his job.
I think they can beat All Miss. Yes, I don't
think that they can beat L s U because for
whatever reason, they cannot find the formula to beat L

(01:47:12):
s U. And they're actually playing pretty good football despite
what happened earlier in this season. But I think they'd
have to win both for him to keep his job. Honestly,
and what we saw, and I know you're probably celebrating
very heavily now that Butcher, I can really imagine. I
can only imagine how fund the Travis household was. I
think that that's going to be the same thing that's
going to happen. And if they win both games, you know,

(01:47:33):
maybe win a bowl game and potentially I just think
everybody's kind of getting sick and tired of this, you know,
late season skid that he's been doing. And I mean
the Auburn game, Like Auburn is a really good football team.
You could make the argument that Auburn might be the
best team in the SEC right now. That it was
just still such an ugly game and it's just the
same story different years. So maybe if he wins both,
but I think if he loses to either one, I

(01:47:54):
think he's done. Who would get the job at A
and m Oh, that's tough, that's tough. You know a
lot of people were talking about Jimbo Fisher, but I
think Jimbo Fisher's buyout is way too big. The thing
about A and M. Casey, you're from Texas. There's no
such thing as way too big, right, I mean, A
and M has so much oil money. Oil prices are
going back up. I saw there about the past sixty

(01:48:15):
dollars a barrel. This is a place that that spent
you know, like hundred million dollars on some luxury suites.
Like I do feel comfortable saying A and M is
one of the few places out there where you can
literally say money is no object. So the Jim Bow
thing is actually kind of intriguing because he's flirted for
a while. He flirted with L. S U and it
didn't end up happening. This year has been awful for

(01:48:35):
him in Tallahassee. He had a nasty divorce from his wife.
There's been some speculation that he might be interested in
going somewhere else. That was why L s You thought
they could get him. So that's an intriguing possibility if,
if potentially he could be interested in that job at
at A and M. Yeah, I guess you're right when
it comes to money at A and M. I mean,
they built a five five hundred million dollars stadium and

(01:48:58):
didn't take any money from the state, So I don't
know why I automatically thought that would be too big.
But here's the thing. A and M is gonna want
to find somebody that's a big name because when they
got Kevin someone when he was at Houston, you know,
he was the up and coming coach, but he hadn't
won anything in a powerified conference. So they're not gonna
want to do that again. If I'm making the decision,
you want to go out and get a big name
guy who you have all the facilities, you have all

(01:49:19):
the money in the world, you have all the recruits.
You just need somebody to come in and win. Because
that's the thing, is like A and M has everything
in place, but just can't win anything. So I would
think they would want to go out and get a
big name higher who has proven himself. And maybe it
is Jimbo Fisher. I don't know, but I don't think
that they're going to try the experiment again of going
to find somebody outside of the Power five. I really
think that they're gonna want to make a big splash

(01:49:39):
and hopefully can start winning because it's kind of embarrassing
they have everything in the world and just can't win anything.
Here's the interesting question. Would there be another SEC school
that would look at Kevin Someone and be interested potentially
in hiring him because I like someone. I think obviously
things have not worked for him at A and M.
Like he would anticipate. But if you're let's say Ole
Miss and al Miss is out there about to start probation, uh,

(01:50:02):
they've got issues. Like I think Kevin Someone, or Charlie
Strong for that matter, or Mike Leach. I think all
three of those guys would be intriguing hires for a
school like Old Miss, which has a lot of money
to spend. You know, Kevin Someone pretty well too, Like
he's an affable, likable guy who plays a really exciting
brand of football, and he recruited really well. Things just
didn't pan out defensively, he could never really get things

(01:50:23):
figured out. Like this is a guy who could get
another big job, right. It's not like he's bombing in
a way like let's say Butch Jones is where Butch
Jones has done and I don't think anybody will touch
him at a major job for years to come. Like
Kevin Someone, I think still has some viability at other
decent sized jobs. Yeah, I agree, And like A and M,
it hasn't just absolutely been terrible. Now they're not good

(01:50:45):
in the SEC West, but it's been good. It is
the SEC West. But one of the reasons I've defended
coach someone throughout the last couple of years is because
the graph isn't always greener and he's still winning eight
or nine games. Now, I understand that that's not good
enough when you're putting hundreds of millions of dollars in
your football program. But he's a good coach that can
absolutely recruit the hell out of any program. So I

(01:51:06):
think that if you're looking at him and you're like, Okay,
you know, we don't have everything A and M has,
but we do have a lot to offer. I mean,
I don't know why you wouldn't give coach someone a job,
and I you know you, like you said, he's a
likable guy. He's got that swagger for lack of better words.
I don't think he's done by any means. It is.
It's the anti Butch Jones. I think that he's gonna
go land somebody, probably pretty quickly. But I just don't

(01:51:28):
think A and M has been the best fit. But
at the end of the day, even if they keep him,
I wouldn't be upset. I think he's a really good
coach and just there maybe they need to change defensive coordinator,
which is crazy because I think John Shavis is one
of the best in the game. But it just doesn't
make sense why they haven't had success. So I don't
have that answer. I could definitely see him landing somewhere
pretty pretty quickly, and not a small school either. I

(01:51:48):
mean Old Most would be incredible. He'd he'd probably loved
the revenge factor of that alone. Yeah, And look, I
mean there's an example right now in the SEC where
Will much champ Went won eleven games at Florida ends
up getting fired because things just don't work out for him.
He's now at South Carolina and in year two at
South Carolina, he's gonna win eight or nine games. Is
gonna be a really successful regular season for South Carolina.

(01:52:09):
He just went five and three in the SEC and
finished it off with the win over his old school
in Florida, which had to be pretty satisfying to him.
All right, last question for you, casey Am. We've got
two questions for you. These are the poll questions that
are up today where people are voting how much of
a story has Martellis. Benett been in Boston over his leaving,
saying that he's not healthy and then suddenly he ends

(01:52:32):
up and he's able to play for the Patriots last night.
Has that been a major discussion point for you guys. Oh? Absolutely,
And you know I A and M. Martellis was at
A and M when I was there, So we've been
talking about a lot because he's just always been this way,
like he's always just kind of been a headcase, but
a really good football player right now. The thing is
here is if that they can go back to the
tight end too tight end system here that people don't

(01:52:52):
care why here, how he got back to New England.
There's happy that he's here. The thing is is like
he obviously lied about something in Green Bay, and if
you look at you like, okay, Aaron Rodgers gets hurt,
he doesn't want to get hurt, so he just says
he's gonna get season ending or season ending surgery. Oh
but wait, you're gonna be playing with Tom Brady and
the greatest of all time. I guess I don't need
that surgery. So it's been a big conversation. But in

(01:53:13):
the New England fans just don't care because it's how
good he was last year. So I think people are
just kind of turning a blind eye to the whole
situation in Green Bay. All right, and um, last last
question for you. Do you believe that I am crazy
for believing that John Gruden maybe the next coach of Tennessee. No,
I don't think you're crazy. I think it's a little
it's probably not gonna happen, But I don't think you're crazy. Well,

(01:53:34):
I appreciate it. I'd be awesome. I mean, nothing you
say to me it's crazy, Clay, because I'm just used
to hearing you say outlandish things. So there you go.
So it's not that I'm not crazy, it's just that
you've heard me say so many more crazy things that
this doesn't even register for you. Yeah, So as long
as you don't say boobs and offend the whole country,
I think if we just fine today. All right, thanks
for getting up early with this, Casey. We'll talk to
you next week, no problem. That's Casey Smith. Go follow

(01:56:04):
sorts of fan bases. I believe that we're upset over
the weekend. Here's the OutKick voicemail celebrating this glorious Auburn victory. Yeah, Georgia,
number one team in the nation. They went in there
all the all, this great rushing attack and this great defense.
They didn't blogg and thing well, joke that was k

(01:56:27):
Kirby smart and to you everybody else bitching for passing
at the end and everything war. Eagle Bitch. They handles
next and they're gonna get them just like Georgia got
this week. Then we'll give Georgia the again in Atlanta,
and then we're going to Atlanta again for the National Championship,
where we'll give Eagle Bitch play Travis. I am sick

(01:56:50):
of hearing you wind about your glorified first grade Jim
Coach and Butts Jones. All you do is cry about
we need a new coach. Try being a Nebraska fan
our head coach his Hans moment from The Simpsons Earth,
I mean Mike Rioting standing on the sideline saying, oh clean,
neat a taco better? We just beat the stuff growing interfractions.
He's starbage. They need to drop him off up the

(01:57:12):
next homeless shelter and to pick up Scott Foster ten
million a year. Hey, Clay, this is rich from San Francisco.
I got a buddy that's moved here when he was
ten years old. We've been friends since he's here. We're
about thirty five thirty six now. Um. He made a
deal this year when the Niners and the Browns winds
on the same Sunday, we get to go to the

(01:57:32):
strip club on Sunday night. Not looking like that's gonna happen,
I guess I'll just get my six pack and watch
Shameless with my wife. Feel like a Buddys when they
got a quarterback. Boma. Clay Travis, you are one hell
of a dunbass and I'm saying this because I know
how much how confident you were in uh in Georgia

(01:57:54):
coming into the game versus Alburn, and quite frankly, Alburn
just embarrassed out of them. So now you just kind
of look like pretty dumb better And I really hope
that you play this on your show because I don't
want anyone to, uh to follow your betting lies. I mean,
I know you got lucky one weekend, I think it
was two weekends back where you you you've got a
four team parlay or something like that. But you're just terrible.

(01:58:16):
You're absolutely awful, and as a native nationally and I
I'm just I'm ashamed to uh to be associated with
the same city that you are BAMA fan through and through.
But just thinking that, uh, it's probably Kirby parentheses not
parentheses clothes smart. He's a idiot and they got destroyed.

(01:58:38):
Georgia roll tied. Hopefully Auburn stays in the mix. Hey,
Clay Tennethy, Tennessee is like my cousin. They just get
all the time. I turned t V on and you
just damn it, we just suck. We ain't gonna get
John Gooden. We're gonna we're gonna get rid of book,
don't I tell you right now. If he don't get

(01:59:01):
forward after this Missouri game, they're gonna be a horror
hill storm coming down there in Oxrey. Old. So look here,
here's the thing. I love your damn there are too
many liberals in this country. Or no, it's not even
in there. You're too many liberals on Twitter anyway. You

(01:59:21):
know what, go balls. I love you, Clay, and I'll
talk to you later. All right, go balls? All right,
I call you. Know what it's about. Tom. It's about
time you realize the alver Tigers are for real, all right.
You never give us credit. Always got to prove ourselves
at the end of the season. Go Tigers. Hey, I'd

(01:59:44):
like to congratulate Notre Dame tonight. They played their opponent
very well up and downards. Uh you know, all night long. Defense,
offense across the board was stellar. The women's basketball team
looks great. Cocaine. Oh, you know what, I gotta give
credit to that guy, because I don't know why they

(02:00:06):
decided to put women's basketball scores and men's basketball scores
for that matter, on during football season. Like I'm sitting
here all day Saturday watching games and then they'll just
be like a score flash up and it's like Notre Dame.
And then I'm like, whoa, what's going on here? And
then it's like a women's basketball game, Like I can't
even keep track. Is there anybody who's sitting around watching
college football all day that's like, you know what, I

(02:00:27):
gotta see these women's basketball scores from early season college
football college basketball, or like I can't even have this
channel going, Like who makes that decision? You know, let's
update women's basketball scores during football. By the way, basketball
scores too. They shouldn't be allowed during football games. Only
football scores should exist. If you care about a college
basketball score, enough, go download of damn app go look

(02:00:50):
at it yourself. Nobody's sitting around trying to get women's
basketball scores during a freaking football game. Congratulation Notre Dame
women though they look great. Um Clay is that phone number?
