(01:08):
postseason gotten closer and closer it feels like to the
super Bowl. What does it feel like? We're joined now
by Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboy quarterback. To be here in
Atlanta sitting around watching these two teams play. Yeah, as
you said, just being a being at having a chance
of getting closer this year than I had in the past.
I guess you can say, uh, it make it makes

(01:29):
being here a little bit more um, more salty. I
guess you can say, uh, not that exciting in the past. Oh,
it's cool, there's this activity is radio nothing but great
things it is. And the super Bowl deserves that, the
week deserves that. But when you know you're as close
as you were, the team that you had, the players
that you had, Uh, you don't know how often you
get those chances and you get that right group of
guys that's gonna make that right push. So UM to

(01:51):
be sitting here and not playing in this game, um
this year, particularly with the team and the guys we had. Uh. Dudfield,
where were you when you heard you were getting Amari Cooper,
What was your immediate reaction. Yeah, so we're coming on
the plane headed back from Washington. Uh think going into
the bye week. Uh. And we just visited the capital
and just done all those great things up there in
Washington after a loss. Uh, sitting at three and five

(02:13):
or excuse me at that time, I guess we wouldn't
have been three and five, would have just been three
and four. Um. And just knowing that that that that
you're about to play Monday night football against it tight
and then that was in the potential of getting a
guy like that amor these other guys, and just to
hear that news, knowing that man, I played against the
guy in college, so I knew what he could do.
At the moment I heard it, I was excited. I
couldn't wait to throw a ball to him and just
figure out, Hey, why did they give them to us?
I mean, that was a for a first round pick.

(02:36):
You got to see one we won. We want ten
out of ten in that deal. I got the type
of guy we got, the player we got. We'll do
it over and over. What's Sherry Jones like a good dude?
I Mean, I don't think you'll find anybody within the
Cowboys organization that UM disliked Jerry Jones or doesn't like
working for Jerry Jones, just his um, the way he
goes about his business, the way he's a professional to

(02:56):
the guys and to the people, to the women that
worked for him, a second to none, and everybody in
the Cowboys organization, especially myself, we're thankful to to be
able to have an on it like we do. Uh.
You played at Mississippi State, had a lot of success
in Mississippi State. I know you're still a fan. Um
are you rooting now for Dan Mullin at Florida to
how do you how do you kind of a balance
out your sec allegiances? Now, yeah, you're putting me on,

(03:18):
putting me on the spot here. I hope Mississippi State
fans don't take this person, but a hundred percent I'm
rooting for Dan wellon uh that then and everything he
did that, the type of guy and the coach he
is the whole reason I went to Mississippi State and
then went was able to go to Mississippi State and
fall in love with the environment, the campus and everything
that that. It didn't tell involved, but I wouldn't have
been there if it wasn't for Dan Mullin. So now
when Dan Mullin moves on, it's not any type of um,

(03:40):
I'm mad or upset at him, or any type of
anything like that. It's a hundred support. I wish him
the best, know what he's gonna do over there, can't
wait to see him turn that program around. And he's excited,
excited for him and that. What do you think your
life would be like if Dan Mullin hadn't recruited you
to Stark though? Yeah, actually I'm not sure. I know
for a fact, I wouldn't be the player I am
today even being recruited and having offer from l s
U TC you something that that that that drew me

(04:02):
into Mississippi State and into Dan Weland was just his
genuineness and his realness. One of the things I'll never
forget and the whole reason I win is Dan Mollas,
I'll put you on the field when you're ready to play.
You have other teams at that time saying or you're
gonna play as a freshman, You're gonna do this, You're
gonna do that. What coach mother looks at you in
the face said, I don't care if you're's three years
and you're not playing two, you're ready. You know that
somebody that's telling you the truth. Then Uh. Some of
is that he didn't put me on the field and

(04:22):
didn't let me play until I knew everything I was
doing mentally and ahead of the game. And um, without
him being able to develop me teach me the game,
I have no idea. I doubt i'd be ready here
talking to you. We're talking to Dak Prescott. What's it
like to be the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys
and be in Dallas. Yeah, it's a blessing, simple as
that I grew up a Dallas Cowboy fan. We're talking
America's team. We're talking the greatest fan base there is. Uh,
you're talking. You go anywhere in the country or anywhere

(04:44):
in the world. Excuse me, somebody's gonna know Dallas Cowboys.
You're gonna see a star. Uh. So, I mean, I'm
so thankful and blessed to have the platform. Simple is
that the platform to be able to reach out in
the fact and tell my story and just to be
able to have that impact on people as a blessing
in itself. But when you play for the best team
there is the best. It's fan base, a great organization
like we do. I'm just thankful. Who are you here
with today at Super Bowl? Yeah? I mean I'm here

(05:06):
with my agents for the most problem. One of my
best friends, Jacobe, just came down, as I said, just
to enjoy all of this radio role. I wish I
was playing, but it's all gonna I'll be out happen
a couple years. How long does it take to get
over a playoff loss? So I know it's tough, it's
tough to lose in the NFL period, but you've gotta
be able to put it behind you because you have
a week. But when your season comes to a close,
you're sitting there in the Colosseum, a ton of Cowboys

(05:27):
fans there and it's over. How long does it take
to be like, man, this this campaign, this season is finished.
How long does that pain last? I mean that pain
is gonna last. I mean I think it, honestly, it
is gonna last until at least the game. This game
is over with, because you know you had You're that
close to to playing in this game, to having that chance.
As I talked about the team, we had the men
that we had. Um it doesn't sit easy, and so

(05:49):
it's gonna at least last into the Super Bowl and
probably a week or so after that. But for me,
it's not really until I dive back into next season
and and I get going and getting my body, getting
everything mentally and physically spiritually right to go next season
is when I'm just like, Hey, that happened. It's over with.
I learned. Do you have a rooting interest at all
cowboys get eliminated from the playoffs? Is there anybody you
were rooting? Fork quarterbacks? Any players? Is there a team?

(06:10):
Do you care who wins between the Rams and the
Patriots from your perspective? No? None, Necessarily. I don't care
necessarily who wins this game? Was I wanted? I wanted
Drew the way and Drew Brees to win that NFC
Championship game really just up my relationship with him, the
respect I have for him, the player, he is, the
career that he's been able to put together even with
all the adversity and everything. But you grew up in Louisiana,
Drew Brees the way that the Saints lost one? What

(06:33):
is Drew Brees meant for the state of Louisiana too.
Can you imagine losing on a call that was missed
that badly? Yeah, I couldnot imagine that. Uh get almost
chills when you say that. The think that to put
myself in that position, Uh, first, saconding obviously for the league.
Just I mean, everybody knows what's happened. Everybody knows what
what what it wasn't right or whatever it is. But
just to be the Saints those guys, Uh yeah, I

(06:55):
mean I couldn't imagine just knowing Drew, knowing how great
of a year he had, for it all to come
down to there. I mean that that that's the chip shots,
the game winning field goal that uh that that was
taken away and now they're not playing in this game tomorrow.
I couldn't imagine it. Uh. Cold easily tweeted that he
wasn't targeted enough. Have you talked to Cole since then?
I know nowadays it's it's funny on social media because

(07:15):
you guys had Dez Bryant. Everybody the stories that get
created sometimes on social media are wild. Have you talked
to Cold since then? Yeah, we've talked a couple of times.
You just said that the stories and the way social media,
can can can catch catch fire and just take off
and go on its own direction, right or wrong or
whatever it may be. Is as Uh is remarkable in itself.
But yeah, I mean, obviously I was aware and saw

(07:36):
saw what Cold did, so I made sure I target
him one more time, called him uh and figured everything out.
So Colds great Manicole have had an amazing relationship ever since.
I've been been a cowboy and been drafted, so everything more.
You're here now to tell us about it. Getting a
good night's sleep right, And I give a lot of
credit honestly to Sleep Number and too Um for this

(07:56):
season that I had. We talked about getting to Mark
Cooper at three and five until the Quick store. We're
literally at three or five, my agents telling me, hey,
we're working with Sleep number. They wanted to give you
this bed, this and animally, I've got a great bed.
I don't need it. I don't I'm fine, And he
finally talks this. I mean, we're talking to Sleep number
three six, the best there is right now, let's go
just let's ride over there to the store, check it out.
Go over there and check it out, and hey, we
win nine to the next ten games. So so you're

(08:17):
giving them sleep but covered all the all the credit.
I'm giving them a lot of credit, honestly, just and
everything they've everything to sleep number bed does. It's just
remarkable simply just being able to tell me my score
is telling me how RESTful I am that the bed
transitioning and and working around my bodies I moved throughout
the night is Uh, it's really really truly made a difference.
What do you want the Cowboys to do in this
offseason to be better for next season? Yeah? I mean,

(08:39):
as long as we're moving forward and we're just trying
to get progressive and everything that we're doing, whether it's
obviously it's it's some cloching changes that we've done, whether
it's adding these players or whatever it is, as long
as we're just progressing each and every day, we're gonna
give ourselves a chance. Jason Garrett, do you expect him
to be even more involved in the offense and play
calling and everything else? But how do you anticipate the
offense will change? Yeah, you know, I'm not really sure.
I think that's something that that will be discussed and

(09:02):
going to talks. When when you decide who your offensive
coordinator is if we go to the route of stand
with them, with the Kellen Moore, another culture, whatever it is,
or if you bring in somebody else just on the
simple thing. I think it needs to be discussed. Is
this move happening for these reasons, for that reasons, but
excited for for whatever direction we're going Is I said,
I know it's gonna make us better. Hey, enjoyed it.
Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboy quarterback. Hope next year you can

(09:24):
make a run. Be pretty fun to play a Super
Bowl that in Miami. When oh yeah, definitely definitely get
get a sleep number beads up in Miami. That's Dak Prescott,
Dallas Cowboy quarterback. I'm Clay Travis. We'll be back breaking
this down on Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch

Prescott Early Bird gets the warm. We've got a ton
of guests, not surprisingly coming your way as we roll
throughout the Friday edition. I'll kick the coverage live on
Radio Row in Atlanta at the Super Bowl. There are, however,

(10:27):
other than football, which will spend a lot of time
talking about today. As we get ready for the Super Bowl,
there's a lot of big news coming out of the NBA,
and in particular a couple of big moments. If you
went to bed early UH last night, weren't really paying attention.
Lebron James is back and he had a near triple
double I believe, and one and overtime for the Clippers.

(10:50):
The drama continues to surround Anthony Davis. There thousands and
thousands of words being written about him. But in the meantime,
Lebron James has returned UH and the Lakers have got
a really tough part of their schedule that will be
rolling through UH the Warriors finally lost last night. If
you're a Sixers fan, big win for the Sixers on
the road against the Warriors. And uh, on top of that,

(11:13):
the biggest news of all the Nicks, who have been
awful for a generation, not helping the NBA in New
York City, decided to take a big swing and take
a big risk, and they are trading the player that,
let's be honest, lots of Nick fans fell in love with.
He's over seven feet tall, he's an athletic freak, but

(11:34):
he's coming off of an injury. Kristaps ports Ingis. They
sent him to Dallas. So now Dallas has got the
euro invasion, they are going all in on Kristaps ports
Ingis and on Luca don Chick. And so we'll find
out whether or not that is a good or bad
move on their part. But if you're wondering what the

(11:57):
move is by the Knicks, this is a big risk,
potentially big reward that could allow New York to be
back in what Charles Oakley days, back in the Patrick
Ewing days, back in the John Starks days, when they
were contending for championships. That feels like years ago. Now
there are people right now listening to me that never
remember the Knicks ever being any good. I promise they

(12:18):
once were in the NBA Finals and they almost wanted
if John Starks hadn't been able to have one of
the worst shooting performances ever in a Game seven, perhaps
they go out and they win it against the Houston Rockets.
But instead, I guess that was what a long time
time been a long time since they were any good
at all. So why are they trading porzingis Well, if

(12:40):
you're making the case for why it would make sense
for the Knicks, it's pretty straightforward. It's the idea that
porzingis because of his injury and because he's a big man,
might not develop and be able to stay healthy. Meanwhile,
if they trade him and all the other players that
they have traded, they create the possibility again. They're hoping
to be the number one overall pick. They're hoping to

(13:02):
win the lottery which allow them to get Zion Williamson
probably who would be an electric, transcendent player that they
would be able to bring into into their locker room.
And they are also hoping that on top of that,
they might be able to persuade Kevin Durant to come
to New York City, So this is really about that
and potentially having the money as well to create another

(13:24):
Max player. So that is a massive story. Your reaction
when you saw this, Danny g that they're hoping to
win the k D Sweepstakes, I mean they're they're they're
making available seventy one million dollars. Possibly that's a lot
of money to work with. Like you said, you can
not only grab a star of k D's caliber, but
also a second star to play alongside of him, which

(13:47):
might make it really interesting, especially if you've got Zion Williams,
you could completely remake. It's a big sway, you imagine.
But if they can't persuade anybody to come who's worthy
of that uh super Max contract there or whatever they're
trying to create eight space, then they could be just
as bad as they are. Now, what about the comments
the Knicks made though yesterday evening about they weren't sure

(14:08):
about Porzingis as far as what was going on at
the gym. They got the vibe that he didn't want
to be there because of and they they made these
kind of weasel it was weasel terminology about uh, they
weren't sure about when he was showing up how long
he was staying for practices. And well, look, I think
anytime you trade a guy that many had considered to

(14:30):
be the lynch pin of your franchise, it's fair to
say that there is discomfort on both sides of the equation.
I tend to think both sides and just shut up
and say, look, this is about the Knicks trying to
be better, and this is also about the Mavericks, who
are ecstatic to be able to pair those two young
European players, right. I mean Porzingis and don Chick are,
in theory two of the best what players under the

(14:53):
age of twenty three or twenty four in the entirety
of the n b A. And so if you're a
Dallas Mavericks fan this morning waking up, uh, it's a
big swing by Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks. But
this is also an attempt by James Dolan to create
an opportunity for the Knicks to be relevant for the
first time in twenty some odd years. Uh. If they
can go get Kevin Durant and persuade him to come in, Uh,

(15:14):
we are gonna be joined here. Shortly by Cam Hayward.
I believe Eddie Garcia is gonna be hyped. We have
a steeler in the house, so we do have a
steeler in the house. But let me go ahead and
bring in Eddie Garcia. Let me get an update from
him in just a sec. But first I need to
tell you guys all about my friends at M Drive.

C l A Y and you get off refine your
prime with M Drive. We're gonna be joined by Camp
Heyward here momentarily from the Pittsburgh Steelers. But first let's
go ahead and bring up Eddie Garc. I find out
what's shake in the world of sports. Well, the reports
brought to you by True Car. Online car shopping can

(16:39):
be confusing, but not anymore. With True Price from True
Car now you can know the exact buyce you'll pay
for your next car. So it's a True Car to
enjoy more confident car buying experience. You talked about the
big NBA trade, the Dallas Mavericks acquiring injured All Star
forward christomp Sportzingis along with trade Burke, Courtney Lee, and
Tim Hardaway Junior from the Knicks. In exchange, New York
gets Dennis Smith Junior, Wesley Matthews, DeAndre Jordan's and two
future first round draft pick on the court. Lakers beat

(17:01):
the Clippers one, one twenty and overtime. Lebron James returned
from his groin injury, played forty minutes at twenty four
points and fourteen rebounds seventy six ers over the Warriors
in Oakland one thirteen to one oh four. Joel and
Beat twenty six points twenty rebounds for Philadelphia and the
win as they snapped Golden States eleven game winning streak.
And then a battle of the top two teams in
the Eastern Conference, the Bucks go to Toronto and beat
the Raptors one oh five to ninety two. Winners in

(17:23):
top twenty five college basketball included number four Gonzaga, Number
thirteen Houston, and number seventeen per Due. We'll be back
to OutKick the coverage in ten sagas. But first a
word from farmers. From a dog accidentally flooding a living
room to a dog taking a joy ride, we've covered it.
Talk to farmers. We know a thing or two because
we've seen a thing or two. We are farmers under

(17:44):
written my Farmers truck fire insurance exchanges and affiliates, products
not available in every state. Now about to Clint Travis
in Atlanta for Super Bowl fifty three. We are indeed
here in Atlanta for both fifty three, Joined now by
Cam Hayward, who's here with Nationwide and Lifelong Steeler fan
whose grandparents pretty excited when you ended up on the Dealers?
What was that? What was that like on when you
found out you're gonna be able to play for them?

(18:04):
I had your family react. Um you know, I think
there was a side relief because I didn't know up
on a bad team first. Uh and then uh you know,
to play for a team that with such history and tradition.
Um M, I got pretty lucky. And UM you know
I've always uh been very excited and grateful to be
uh under the Steelers. Uh you're up for Man of

(18:26):
the Year. Um what did that mean to get that honor?
And uh? And when is it officially going to be announced?
And tell us about it? Well, you know it's a
it's a great program that shines light on all the
great work. Uh. You know all thirty two teams uh
their nomindees uh are all being uh nominated for but
uh um, I'm just honored. Um. This is uh something

(18:47):
Uh I don't take lightly, I don't take for granted.
UM you know it Uh, like I said, signs light
on all the different work they do. Um. You know
Nationwide is a great company based out Columbus, So so
the Ohio State Ties. But uh, you know, everybody's working
together and every you see, everybody has done different things
throughout the year. Um, and they're just great causes. Um.

(19:10):
You know my foundation uh is the Hayward House. The
focus on focuses on underprivileged kids and um you know
also cancer as well. Just too dear things to my heart. Um.
You know, if you if you guys ever want to
check out more information Cameron Foundation dot org. But uh,
you know Nation White is a great partner, and um

(19:31):
you know they uh they've already uh they're already donating money,
um to all the nominees and then the winner uh
makes another allotment. But uh you know, I'm just truly
blessed to be a part of a great group of guys.
You have played against Tom Brady quite a few times
as a defensive end I would imagine one of the

(19:53):
most frustrating things by far is how quick he gets
rid of the football. How do you have to prepare
for a guy like Brady, maybe differently than other quarterbacks
in the league. Well as a defensive lineman. Um you know,
I think when they get get the ball out quick,
get your hands up. Um. But I think Um. The
only way you disrupt that that uh, that rhythm, you

(20:14):
gotta stop to run early. You know, if you get
them in situations where they can just dump the ball
off and keep uh, keep it manageable, they're going to
be successful. Um he's the very best that you know.
Just keep converting the third downs and put you in
a situation where, um, you're gonna be frustrated. Um, he's
a you know, a very He can be a rhythm

(20:35):
quarterback or you can hold onto the ball, but I
think that your best bet is for him to hold
onto the ball and try to get sacks and get pressure.
He's ninth super Bowl for Tom Brady. When you hear that,
what is your reaction? Well, I'm going into my ninth year.
So he's got nine super he's got nine Super Bowl appearances.
You can make it nine years in the NFL. Incredible

(20:55):
accomplishment by itself, right right, and to make it the
nine super was unheard of. Um, you know he's uh
doing things that not a lot of people have done before.
And um, you know it just speaks to longevity and um,
the mental you know, the mental toughness alone to keep
coming back from more. It's tough enough. Um, but you know,

(21:19):
I just I commend them. Uh, you know, I commend
that organization because, uh, it's a it's a it's it's
a feat that not not a lot of teams uh accomplishing.
We're talking to Cam Heyward. There was a lot of
drama on the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason. Is it more
or was it more dramatic this year than in your
previous seven years in the league or did it feel
differently to you? Um? I think I think it felt

(21:42):
differently because of the way we ended as well. Um,
you know, were you on the field watching them the
jumbo tra and when the when the Ravens found our
found a way to win. I went to the locker
room and we we have a couple of TVs in there. Um,
it's probably the hardest you've ever rooted for the Browns. Yeah. Yeah,
And I don't want to be in that position again.
It's it's it's not a great position to be in

(22:03):
the uh, to have your fate in somebody else's hands. Um,
But uh, you know, you commend them for what they did.
Um with the Baltimore Ravens did, but uh, you know,
there was a lot of things that happened that you know, Uh,
we're surprising and didn't expect to happen. But uh, um
that comes with the job. But uh, I think you

(22:23):
just gotta get it's gotta get handled better. Uh, levy on,
do you did you expect? I know you're not blocking
for him, you're not necessarily on the offensive side of
the ball, but him not being there wasn't a distraction
for the whole team in your mind. I don't think
anyone's ever been through a situation where you know, um,
and I think one of the guys missed an entire season. Um,

(22:43):
so you know, in the back of the head you're thinking, uh,
by week seven or eight, he's gonna show up. Um,
and I think, um, everything accumulating. You kept looking forward
to him, and then um, you know the fans the
media are all waiting from the show up. We're waiting
for him too. UM. So it kind of uh put
us in a bad space where, um, you don't want

(23:05):
to put all your eggs in one basket, but you
also want you always want a great teammate and you
want a great guy to play. So um, you know,
it was just a lot of waiting that didn't happen,
so um, you know, I don't think anyone expected it
and kind of throw a rent and our our plans.
The other big story obviously in the offseason for the

(23:26):
Steelers Antonio Brown. What do you think most players want
to see happen with Antonio Brown? I think, Uh, everybody
just wants to be resolved and you know, move forward. Um.
You know, I know everybody's wrote their own piece on it,
and everybody has their own spend um. But I think
as teammates, um, Antonio and we understand the work he

(23:47):
puts in. UM, and we understand there were mistakes made
on his side as well, but we can get bass that. UM.
You know, I think some people look for a quick
fixed for a trade. UM. I'm one of the people
that think, you know, anything to be solved, we just talk,
and I think communication goes a long way. UM. You know,
if you need to get everybody in a in a room,

(24:09):
so be it. Let's let's settle it. I don't I
don't care we can get knocked going. I'm I'm not
shy of of of being honest, and you know, because
I think, um, we can only grow from the situation. UM,
you know, And I think everybody can grow from the situation.
Did you guys feel like you had to pick sides
between Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown? Does it feel like there's
a division there? No, No, UM, because at the end

(24:32):
of the day, they're both my teammates. UM and UM.
Pig and sides is not the business I'm in. UM
being a teammate is. And I think UM, being a
teammate is being honest, UM, being blunt, UM, but still
having each other's back and UM. Some of the stuff

(24:52):
has just gotten, you know, taken on a life of
its own. But UM. You know, I love to just
sit down and talk with everybody. Were you there when
they got into a practice? Like, did you have any something?
Reason why I asked that, And a lot of people
listening out there we're talking to Cam Heyward Pittsburgh Steelers. UM.
I think anybody who's worked in an organization where there's
media attention, sometimes you find out there's drama by reading

(25:15):
the newspaper, checking your Twitter, being like everybody else right,
like UM, And so that's the reason why I asked, Like,
as that came down the stretch of the season and
you had the Antonio Brown situation, you just assumed he
was gonna be there and be playing right. Uh, definitely. Um.
I had known he had was dealing with stuff for
his knee. Um, and so he was getting that checked out.
And Um, the way our fields are, you have the

(25:37):
offensive one side, defense on another side. UM. I didn't
know exactly what happened. Um I was you know, I
like the thing. The car was already going downhill by
the time I found out. But um, you know, if
it's a spat, that's a spat. And I'm not gonna
you know, look for you know, another reason to get mad.
But let's just solve it. Yeah, as simple as that.

(26:00):
What's your off season? Like how long does it take
to feel a hundred percent again after the season or
do you ever feel a percent after you've played as
many years in the NFL now as you have. I'll
get to but uh, you know it's a process. Um.
You know, not being in the playoffs makes it a a
little bit harder, um because you're you spent a lot

(26:20):
of time in the Atlanta area. So the old situation
would have been coming back home from pople here right, Yeah,
you know, telling my family I'll be there soon. Uh,
not doing media day but yeah, in the super Bowl,
but uh, um, you know, not making the playoffs. Uh,
you know, definitely those a wrench. And Um, I get
to spend more time with my family and it's great. Uh,
but to get recharged and trying to put behind us

(26:43):
and focus on nineteen. Um, you know it's a process
to get to that point. You're a Buckeye. What do
you think our admire leaving is going to be? Like?
What kind of conversations, if at all, have you had
about Ryan Day and what your expectations are for the
program going forward? Well, the great thing is, you know
he's already experience of being in Ohio State's head coach. Yea,
Um you know, Uh, I know the situations weren't you know, ideal,

(27:07):
but um, you know, Coach Day, I think he's gonna
do an awesome job. I already think he he understands players. Uh.
He demands a lot from his players. Um, you know,
losing Urban Meyers, you know he's won the big games. Um,
and you can't replace that leadership he instilled in those guys.
But I'm looking for Coach Day though, you know, not

(27:29):
only keep the ship afloat, but you know, strive for
more Um, you know it's gonna be interesting because Haskins
is gone, um Bosa has gone. Um, they lost a
good crop of seniors. But uh, um, I think we
got justin fields from Georgia. So you know it's it's
uh gonna be a thing on the upswing. I don't

(27:49):
know how much college football you watch, but you play
a lot on the defensive line. And one of the
big stories in the off season, it's gonna be Kyler
Murray whether or not he can project at the next
level as as an NFL quarterback. What do you think
about chasing him around? Like? Uh, and and the evolution
that you've probably seen an offenses has had to be
intriguing from your perspective as well a defensive end. Right. Well,

(28:11):
it's funny because like everybody liked to make a big
deal about, you know, the pro style offense and how
some quarterbacks don't do it, but then these guys are
such spread quarterbacks and they have these great years. You
have to honor it. Um. And Kyler is a great quarterback.
I think, Um, you know, I know he moves well
with his feet, but he has an armed and you

(28:32):
saw that in Alabama game. I was actually very surprised
just because you know, Alabama is always known for having
a great defense. UM, but I was I was very um,
you know, impressed by the performance you put out because
I felt like, you know, even with everything going on,
even with those great defensive defense he played against in

(28:55):
sec um, he was holding his own and he was
making plays, and you always felt like they were creeping
back into that game. I know you got a ton
to do on Radio Row. We appreciate it. Good luck
in the nationwide Man of the Year contest next season
as well. It's cam hey were Pittsburgh steal? Uh guys,
let's go ahead and uh, let's go to break here.
When we come back, I'm gonna pull everybody who won

(29:16):
the trade between the Knicks and the UH and the
Dallas Mavericks. Which side of that equation do you like? More?
Will discuss. This is OutKick the Coverage live from Radio
Row in Atlanta as we get ready for Super Bowl
fifty three on Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch
live editions about kick the Coverage with Clay Travis week

(29:37):
days at six am Eastern three am Pacific. Welcome back,
Geico OutKick Studios. A message from Welch's grape juice. One
cent of the profits made from Welch's grape juice goes
to American farmers. Know what else goes to American farmers?
One of the thrill from repeatedly crushing grapes, skins and

(29:58):
seeds included until all the it's left is delicious juice.
That's what else. The world's toughest antioxidants. Welch as tough
as grapes. We've got a loaded show. We jumped right
in with Dak Prescott, so I haven't even given you
a roadmap at all on today's show, but just so
you're aware. UM, we just talked with camp Heyward and
that was pretty great. In our two, we're gonna talk

(30:20):
with DeMarcus Ware and uh with Chad Millman on the
gambling front, also Doug Gottlieb for a couple of minutes,
and then an hour three we've got Ryan Shazier and
Kurt Menife. Um a lot to come on this show.
We have had a loaded, loaded week of guests from
down here in Atlanta, and UH, i'd encourage you guys

(30:42):
go download the podcast. You can search out out kick,
you can search out my name Clay Travis and make sure,
you don't miss any of those regardless of where you
are in the country or in the world. But there
have been a couple of stories that have jumped into
the front of the sports area, uh that don't involve
the NFL. In fact, it's been a fairly quiet week,

(31:04):
I would say in terms of actual stories from Atlanta,
nobody's really said that much on either team. Roger Goodell's
press conference got a lot of attention, but the NBA,
with news about Anthony Davis demanding a trade, was a
big storyline. The NBA tread trade deadline is Thursday, six
days from now, and we'll see whether anything ends up

(31:26):
taking place there. But in the meantime, there was a
big trade last night, and that was Kristaps portzingis Essentially
there's a lot of different moving parts on this, but
porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks to basically free up a
lot of space for the Knicks to be able to
sign potentially to max free agents, and obviously they're in

(31:48):
the sweepstakes to get the overall number one draft pick
and add Zion Williamson, which would go a long way
towards making the Knicks a relevant franchise in the NBA
to making the city of New York matter in terms
of the NBA. If they could get Kevin Durant, that's
their hope that they could get him to come back
to to New York City and maybe pair him with

(32:10):
somebody else. So I'll start with you, Danny G. Do
you like the Knicks move better or do you like
the Mavericks move better? Right now? I like the Knicks
move better because if Porzingis didn't want to be there,
and all signs kind of point in that direction, then
it's fine to move them and open up all that money.
If his contract was more reasonable, then I think it

(32:32):
would be a bad move. But because it opens up
just over seventy million dollars potentially, I think this is
actually a good look for the Knicks, because, let's face it,
they were one of the worst teams in the NBA
with Porzingis, so why not move on and try to
start over. But but all Knicks fans know the real
problem is with Dole in their owner, and I don't

(32:55):
know how you could ever get around that. But it
would be a good start to get somebody like Zion
and potentially a couple of huge stars to come there.
But the question is, Clay, even though it's New York
and it's the mecca of basketball and all that, no,
no free agent has wanted to go to New York.
So is that gonna change? You would think the answer

(33:16):
will be yes. The question will be will it be
a mark he free agent that you can actually build
a championship team around. And obviously Kevin Durant is the
guy that they hope to be able to persuade to
move from New York, and that would obviously upset the
apple cart of Warrior domination. If you could persuade Kevin
Durant to leave and bring him all the way back
across the country, it would sort of dilute the overall

(33:37):
top talent in UH in the West and maybe give
somebody else a chance to compete. UH. Eastern Conference pretty
competitive already, but it would put the Knicks into the mix.
Now we'll see whether or not the Celtics are able
to make a move in the Anthony Davis sweepstakes and
end up in the front of that that that talent
pool in the Eastern Conference. We bring in the rest
of the crew. I'm curious to get early verdicts. We

(34:00):
have to do this whenever there's a trade, immediate reaction,
immediate decision making as to whether or not as a
good move. Now. To be fair, it's a challenge here
to know for sure whether giving up Porzingis is the
right move, because you don't know what the Knicks are
gonna be able to persuade him, uh in terms of
free agents to bring into the equation. So it's a
little bit hard to judge this right now. It's a

(34:22):
big swing offered by the Knicks. Do you like this
move or not? Uh? Coop, Do I like it for
the Knicks either side? Like which? I love it for
the I love it for the Mavericks. I think I
I would lean towards them as to who got the
best wheel. Yeah, because even though Porzingis is hurt, he's

(34:42):
he's proven. We've seen what he can do. He's a
he's a star in the league, and so we already
know that he can play at the next level. You
know what the Nicks are doing, It's it's kind of risky.
They're they're banking on hope. But now the Mavericks, they
have a young core and and they could see radically
start winning as early as next season. They've got Don Chicks,

(35:03):
who looks amazing at nineteen years old. Now they've got Porzingis.
It's almost like and and it's the perfect timing too,
because they're they're you know, they're trading their huge seven
foot you know, great European score for the next seven
foot great European score. So you know, um, Nowitzki is
on his way out, Porzingis is in, and they have

(35:24):
a core to build around, and so I think I
like to move better for them. Yeah, I mean I
think on paper right now, it's a good move for
the Mavericks. I just think it's hard to judge completely
for the Knicks because you're not sure exactly what the
final resolution of this from their perspective will be. What
do you think, Eddie Garcia, which moved to you like
more right now? Who would you rather be a Knicks
fan or Mavericks fan? I think I'm leaning more towards

(35:46):
the Mavericks. Uh now. Hopefully Porzingis obviously comes back fully
from the injury and they can resign him. But I
just have no confidence in the Knicks organization that they're
going to draft well and develop those first round picks,
and that Kevin Durant or Kyrie Irving or Kimba Walker
or any of those guys want to go to New York.
I get it to New York, I get the market,

(36:06):
I get playing in the world's most famous arena. But
that organization is so poorly run. I just have no
confidence that the Knicks are gonna make it work out.
James Dolan has been so utterly incompetent. I mean, it
is really remarkable when you think about the history of
the Knicks franchise and how relevant and dominant and important
they have been in the NBA historically for them to

(36:28):
be as bad as they have over nearly a twenty
five year process. I mean, there are a lot of
fully grown adults right now listening to us this morning
who have never known a Knicks team that matters. Right
You're if you're thirty years old right now, you have
virtually zero recollection of a Knicks team that ever mattered.
Patrick Ewing doesn't have much of a of a residence

(36:49):
with you. You might remember the wars with the Miami Heat,
maybe a little bit Alan Houston, Alan Houston back in
the day, obviously, John Starks, Charles Oakley. I mean, there's
a lot of legendary. Don't bring up um, but it's
wild to think about that, Dub. What about you, whose
side would you rather have right now? Would you rather
be a MAVs fan or would you rather be a
Knicks fan? Looking ahead for for what might happen with

(37:12):
the franchises, Well, just talking strictly in terms of this deal,
I think I leaned with the Knicks. I mean, you
look at Porzingis, He's missed sixty games his first three
years and of course will probably miss eighty two this
year at his fourth, and it opens up a ton
of room, like we said, and uh, this will just
make it that much easier for them to tank and
try to get Zion Williamson. So if you're looking ahead,
I mean, you gotta have a little bit of hope

(37:32):
here if you're a Knicks fan. In my opinion, I
think if you're a Knicks fan, the best case scenario
is clearly that you get Zion, but also that on
top of getting Zion, you get Durant and then you
go from totally irrelevant to getting probably the player that
is going to be the best. I would say, if
you're just buying stock in anybody right now, Durant still

(37:52):
relatively young. Over the next four to five years, good
chance that he ascends to the unquestioned best player in
the NBA right as Lebron, and I believe Lebron is
gonna fade pretty substantially as he ages out of of
that position as being the best player. And then in theory,
you could have the most electric young player to enter
the league in a long long time. Now, exactly how

(38:13):
Zion will will project in the NBA, I don't think
anybody knows for sure, but I do think that that
would be incredibly exciting if you are trying to be
optimistic right now thinking about the Knicks, So I think
you can make a strong argument that you like their
perspective better. Which side would you take, Roberto, I'm on
the side of the Mavericks. They got Porzingis, He's a

(38:35):
star as long as he's healthy. And then the Knicks
is still run by James Dolan, and the Knicks organization
is terrible. Getting rid of where Porzingis was dumb, and
they're not guaranteed again Zion Williamson, So well, that's what
they're doing is risking. Look and and again, if you
want to make the best possible case, for the Knicks.
You could theoretically have at work out where you get

(38:56):
Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and UH and Zion Williamson. That's
that's a dream. That's an unbelievable team that you put
together that could contend for a championship and certainly would
make the playoffs and win a series in the playoffs,
which would be something that Nick's haven't done in forever.
You could also end up with a really bad team

(39:16):
if you can't persuade anybody to come, and you might
have to overpay for the guys that you're persuading to come.
It's gonna be intriguing, all right. When we come back,
we're gonna be joined by DeMarcus Ware, who I think
you guys are gonna love. Uh. We'll also talk with
Chad Mellman about the gambling universe. As the Super Bowl
UH inches closer and closer. We're two days away now, UH.

(39:37):
Doug Gottlieb is gonna stop by for a couple of minutes.

our two and loaded our three. But before we get
into the guest, couple of big stories that are obviously
out there. Kristaporzingis being traded to the Dallas Mavericks. The

(41:24):
New York Knicks gonna make a bigger run at Kevin Durant.
Will see whether or not that is going to be successful.
Maybe the Knicks can be relevant again for the first
time in a generation. We will see they're taking a
big swing. UH. And the meanwhile, the Mavericks potentially putting
together two of the best young talents both European UH
in the entirety of the NBA. Will see whether or

(41:45):
not the decision by Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is
gonna pay off as well. Also, last night, Lebron James
returns from a month out and change with his injury
to go with a triple double to make a big
time a return and we get a win over the
uh uh the Clippers out in Los Angeles, and there's

(42:07):
a story that we're probably gonna talk about more because
the Super Bowl week. There's a lot going on here.
But I think it's an absolute, uh disgrace what the
n C Double A has done to Missouri. No reason
at all for the penalties that Missouri got. If you're
a college sports fan, Missouri got hammered by the n
C Double A. In particular, they are facing a bowl

(42:27):
band and would not be eligible for the postseason this year. Uh.
That news coming down yesterday afternoon, it's wild. It's crazy.
It's further evidence and the reason why, by the way,
it's because they had a tutor helping some players. Uh.
It's wild to think about all the things that go
on in college athletics and what some are able to
get away with and some are not, and for that

(42:48):
to be a major issue is pretty insane. All that
and more, we have got a lot to discuss, But
I want to bring in now Chad Millman. He's at
the Action Network, and there are a lot of moving
parts surrounding words gambling, in general, a lot of props,
a lot of cool stories out there as the Super
Bowl inches closer and closer, and Chad, you're doing some
really cool stuff at the Action Network. What exactly is

(43:10):
going on with you guys right now? Right now, we
are covering this game as if it's the super Bowl.
You know, It's like everyone is always saying, like, hey,
it's the super Bowl for us, right, this is literally
the super Bowl for us, Like there's no bigger betting event.
And you know, you know Revel, you had him on.
Dann Revel, who works with us and Darren Ravell went
on our show Locking In Yesterday a couple of days

(43:31):
ago actually and took a big shot at you, like
off the top rope. I mean, it's like Macho Man
and Brandy Savage, like flying elbow. As I told Revel,
I don't You're not allowed to talk about anything other
than Gatorade and the National You should not be talking.
He's coming after me for like my picks. Right, But
that's why you get Dn Revel to come work at
the Action Networks, because the Super Bowl is a moment
where like it introduces everybody. Right, You've been talking about

(43:53):
betting for years a lot of fans that like, follow
you for your betting and you're unlock it in and
so like for a lot of people when they come
to this for both, they're thinking about how long is
the national anthem? Gonna? Is there gonna be a mic stand? Right?
Is that? What color is the gatorade? It's fun to
research that stuff. And so we're going like from the
highest level, like we're talking about all that, and we're
also talking about will James White have more than six

(44:14):
and a half receptions? Will Stephen Gaskowski's first kickoff be
a touchback? Like? And then who's gonna win the game?
And why? So we're covering it every year for people
out there who are just starting to pay attention to
sports gambling. And there's a lot of people out there
listening to us who are in that camp. Because New
Jersey now is legalized, because New York is considering it, Mississippi,
West Virginia, all the states that are coming online. Why

(44:35):
would you tell them that they should care about sports
gambling and how would you tell them that the game
may change as sports gambling becomes more commonplace thanks to
places like the Action Network. Look, at the end of
the day, and this is you know, I came from
ESPN for twenty years, right, and like my side hustle
was always sports betting. And the reason why I wanted
to cover sports betting in addition to loving the topic

(44:56):
is sports fans just want to be smarter, and they
want to be smarter than anybody else in the room.
You have built a career out of saying I Am
going to be smarter than anyone else in the room, right,
That's all they want to do. And like whether they
bet or not, they want to know our professional betters
on the Rams or on the Patriots, and when they're
at their party or they're hanging with their friends or
any weekend during the football season, they want to be

(45:18):
able to say, I know what's going on with professional betters.
That's our angle, right. We make people smarter about what
is happening with the broader conversation in sports. That's why
you need to know what's happening in sports betting. And
that's why for us the business works. Because the more
states that legalized sports betting, there's natural step ups and
sort of the audience that is starting to think, oh wait,

(45:39):
sports betting is legal now. Even if I'm not gonna
do it. I want to know what it means. I
want to know what the conversation is. Everybody in sports
wants to know everything about sports, and this is a
huge part of that conversation. I have argued, we're talking
to Chad Milman from the Action Network, which is a
great website devoted to sports gambling. I have argued that,
to me, there are three kind of transformative events in

(46:00):
the world of sports that have taken place in the
last thirty years or so. One was the rise of cable,
which led to virtually every game being on television. Two
was the rise of fantasy, which led to, particularly in
the NFL, but in a lot of other sports too
obsessive interest in individual players and games outside of your
own teams games. And now I think sports gambling. I

(46:24):
think those are the three most transformative events that have existed.
Would you buy in that is going to be as
transformative to the way we watch and consume sports. The
prevalence of sports gambling growing as those other two. I'm
banking on it, man, Yeah, literally putting your money where
you're out there. I chucked my career, a very comfortable
life to go all in. We you know, you came
on my podcast once and we talked about like this

(46:46):
idea of you bet your life and like deciding, all right,
this is the moment, this is the time, Like you
have an idea of what is going to happen, and
then you decided to go for it. So clearly that's
what I think. Um, the one thing I would add
to your sort of triplet there is the Internet, right, Like,
like the Internet and fantasy and the democratization of data

(47:08):
and this moneyball ethos that has permeated sports has made
sports betting more acceptable, right, And so there's a generation
of fans who have grown up the last twenty years
who have understood, I'm going to be more opportunistic about
the way I root. I am going to root less
for the team and more for the player. I'm going
to find ways for myself to win, not necessarily just

(47:30):
for my team to win. All of that, like has
been a stew that has come together and starting to
boil over with the acceptance of sports. We're talking to
Chad Milman, uh and that's a great point about the
Internet and particular in particular, I think guys who are
in their twenties and thirties are totally anticipate and expect
that they should be able to bet on everything from
their phones. Do you think that the state legislatures as

(47:52):
they examine this issue are going to be progressive enough
to think about what the younger constituents in their markets
are doing, or do you think they might get captured
by larger gambling interests that say, no, we want you
to have to be physically present, we want you to
have to walk into an actual sports book. What's the
right way to legalize in individual states? In your mind,
that is the perfect question, because that is the debate

(48:13):
that's happening in every state capital right now. And if
states don't legalize mobile sports betting, then they might as
well not do it. Like just look at what happened
in New Jersey. New Jersey made mobile sports betting part
of the product. They had more than a billion dollars
in handle in six months. Nevada, the most mature market
there that is, had five nearly five billion last year.

(48:37):
So New Jersey in six months had nearly the market
that Nevada does because of mobile betting. Then you look
at states where mobile betting is limited, like Mississippi, and
the handle is minuscule. So if you're doing it, do
it right. The the interesting place, the place to watch
is going to be New York. The governor came out
and said, Andrew Cuomo said, we want sports betting by
the end of two thousand nineteen. They are all trying

(48:58):
to figure it out. If York does mobile betting, which
is what they are talking about doing, that will be
a sea change. Because the state is so big, and
because the concentration of sports bettors is so high, it
will be massive prop betting. A lot of people who
may you were you started off our conversation talking about that,
people who might not even care that much about who's

(49:18):
gonna win between the Rams and the Patriots, will watch
and they'll care desperately about all these props. How have
you seen the popularity of Super Bowl prop betting? Sore?
And what does that say about gambling in general and
the world of sports if you don't even have to
be directly connected to on the field product. Yeah, this
is amazing. So like the original prop that was, you know,

(49:39):
was like and it was will the refrigerator, will William
refrigerator Perry score touchdown, yes, and like they weren't even
paying attention to it. Now the West Gate is putting
out like the super Book. The sports book in Vegas
is putting out like a thousand props. Yes, and everybody's
doing it. Most places will find that half of their
handle for the Super Bowl will be on props. Right
to me, that is the next phase of what happens

(50:02):
in this space. I don't think the market at large
is sort of in the same place for day to
day gambling where people are betting on player props. But
the Action Network we love it. Like if you download
the app, it's a free app, you will be able
to bet and track, like track what you're doing for
player props. You will see odds for player props. You'll
see it for the Super Bowl for sure. We write
a ton of stories about player props. That's the next

(50:23):
place where the market is going. Because, like we were
just talking about, fantasy is popular daily fantasy is popular
for people who have done those things but didn't bet
on sports. That's sort of the next phase of how
they get into the minigure shure. Do you expect somebody
to try to acquire the Action Network or do you
think you guys are going to be independent for a while.
And the reason why I asked that is when Darren
Ravelle came on and was starting to work for you guys.
I said, why now and why Action Network? Um? And

(50:45):
he said, look, I mean if you believe in sports gambling,
we are going to be the ESPN of sports gambling, right,
I mean that's a strong argument. Do you think that
that is going to lead to people trying to acquire
you guys? As you continue to build out what you do,
do you see yourself to standalone company or do you
think another big, major media company is going to come
in and say we want to part of what they're doing.
I don't think we know yet. Like we've been in
it for a year. We're a subscriber based business. Our

(51:08):
subscription rate has grown considerably obviously in this past year.
This football season was insane. Like we're just figuring out
who we are. We're just figuring out what levers to pull,
and like what this business is in ten years is
going to be so vastly different in ten years, Like
major media companies might want sports betting at the centerpiece
of what they're doing. I don't think there's any doubt,

(51:30):
And like, do we want to be on our own
and independent and sort of reap the fruits of that
labor on our own, or do we want to take
a different route and get acquired. We have no idea yet,
which just like it's too early to say. We're literally
like the first half inning. It's gonna be really fascinating
to see. I mean, obviously we have locked it in.
The show continues to grow, and I think again the
you know, demographics of the future. Younger guys are more

(51:52):
likely to gamble than older guys, and I see that
only continuing. I know you've got a billion things to do.
I appreciate you coming on with us now. It's awesome
to see you. A good right to meet and in person.
I'm sorry that Darren Ravelle came off the top rope
on you lock it In. He's such a hell That's
why I hired him. That the perfect heal. He is
incredible at that. This is Alcae the Coverage on Fox

Marcus ware over here. Get him set down beside us,
and as he slides in here, I gotta ask you
to Marcus. I always wonder this, when guys have had
careers like you have, who's the toughest guy you ever
had to tackle? I would say probably a Peterson, just

(54:25):
because he's so physical. He's a physical guy, and uh,
he has a defensive mind mentality on offensive side because
you know, well, you usually have a running back there,
you usually chasing him the predator in and prey tight mentality.
But with him, he's like, I want to run through
your chest and run you over. So he was probably
the one of the hardest guys I've ever tackled. All Right,
I got a ton of stuff I want to ask

(54:46):
you about, but let's start here. So obviously we got
the Rams going up against the Patriots, and the Super
Bowl could very easily have been the Saints going up
against the Chiefs. In fact, the Chiefs would be in
the Super Bowl if Ford has lined up. Oh my god,
So you spent a lot of time lining up. Do

(55:06):
you ever remember a time where you were off sides
like that? And and it was a big play because
they would be in the Super Bowl if he had
just lined up on something like how frustrating would that
be as a defensive linement? I would think they would
be very hard because you work so much on the
line of scrimmage, right standing behind the line of scrimmage
and making sure you don't jump off side. I've never
was off size was outside. So I tell all the guys,

(55:29):
but when it comes down to those big, incremental, game
changing deals and you're that guy from from from something
small to where you line up off side, and it's
totally a mental air on your part. Man, That's that's
like gut wrenching. He's almost like you missed that sack
at the end of the game and then they scored
a winning touchdown. It feels the same way. But it's

(55:53):
a hard pill to swallow for sure. When you saw
the missed call in the Saints game, and Roger Goodell
addressed this week. Finally, if you if the NFL came
to you and they said, to markets, we're trying to
figure out how to fix this, would you change anything
or do you think that element of the game is
just always going to be there and sometimes officials boil it.
I think just called blatant calls. If it's a blatant

(56:13):
call to where you see a cornerback hit a wide
receiver and he doesn't even have the ball in his hand,
call it. I mean, you can look at the replay
and if the refs don't see it, you know what happened.
You know what happened. You said Okay, cool, that is
a call. That's that's a blatant call, and we need
to call that. Yeah, because as a player that that's
something would be difficult to know. You're not going to

(56:34):
super exact exactly. Um. And the thing is, it's that
big game and the refs they hold a key to
a lot in the football game. And uh, there are
some things that I always say that that could be
changed from if there's a guy in New York looking
at the football game compared to a guy that's on
the sideline looking at the football game there right there,
it's different. But also replay is good. I feel like

(56:55):
they re having replays are very very good because sometimes
the human eye can't see certain things. But if you
don't make a call again and you see the call
on the replay, why don't you just call it and
be done with it? I agree. We're talking to Marcus.
Where when you tried to sack quarterbacks and you did
it your entire career and you had a lot of
success in doing it, How frustrating is it when a

(57:16):
guy like Brady or Paydon Manning or Tony Romo they
get the ball get rid of it so quickly. How
frustrating is that as a defensive lineman trying to get
at them. And for instance, in this playoffs, Brady has
barely been touched and actually he got a fifteen yard
penalty the one time he didn't get touched. And that's
one thing that Brady does when he changes the football
game is his time that he has a football. Usually

(57:39):
you tell a defensive end or a tackle that's rushing
the pastor you got two seconds to get to Tom Brady.
But Tom Brady is getting off the ball at one
point five seconds because he knows already where he's going
to throw the football, he can tell what the defense
is doing, and so that's very, very frustrating for a
lot of the defensive guys. So what you have to
do is when we when we played him, uh the
in the a f C Championship, you have to put

(58:00):
guys in the middle. You have to get great pocket push,
so now he can't step up in the pocket and
make those throws. You get the extra point five or
one second for those outside guys can actually rush the passer,
and that's what we really did. You have to stay
in Brady's face because if you don't, he's a tall
guy now, and he's not as agile as a Deshaun Watson,
but he can actually still get in the pocket and

(58:20):
make all those throws because he gets off the ball
so fast. And that's gotta be insanely for us. Right, Barry,
we're talking to Marcus ware. When you guys won your
Super Bowl and you don't have your Super Bowl ring
on you, I don't. I left it. I got it stolen.
Uh ago, somebody broke into my apartment and stole my
Super Bowl ring, so I don't bring it out. I wanna.
So when you get it stolen, do you get back

(58:42):
that one or can you go buy it and they
give you a new one? I get actually in twenty
four hours, the fans help me find that ring. Yes,
that's how powerful the fans are, and that's why we're here.
You know, they're talking about him now with you know,
Crown Royal telling them that we need that trunk man. Right,
he got the Patriots fans and you got the Rams fans,
and with Crown Royal, this is like the first company

(59:03):
I feel like that has that that family feel that
fan field and saying hey, you need to get out.
Yes you can drink, but drink moderately, make sure that
you hydrate and um if you're at home, if you're
in the stadium, you're still infecting affecting people with the
twelfth Man mentality, And so we needs you to be
in the game. So did Cam Newton's way that he

(59:24):
played the game motivate your defense to play in a
different level than if Cam Newton had been not a
big talker, Like I got it, was there any was
there any of that that week? Like you know what,
he didn't say much that week. The media said a
lot that week. So you know, usually every single day
you have about two hours in media where all the

(59:44):
media comes in and uh, you have to do all
the interviews and they're talking about Cam Newton, They're talking
about m VP, how awesome is there? What sixteen and
over whatever the situation was, And for us, we're like, okay,
the number one defense in the league haven't faced us yet.
So the media helped fuel that fire, which was great

(01:00:05):
because Cam Newton didn't say anything. So I wouldn't say
I blame it on the media. I say thank you
to the media too for letting us, you know, giving
us that fuel under us to go out there and
play and close that game out. What did it feel
like when the final seconds of that game ended? What
does it feel like to win a Super Bowl? You
know how when you think about your best Christmas gift

(01:00:25):
you wanted as a kid, and you go downstairs and
there's like, you know, a big box and you don't
know what's in it, But then when you open it up,
it's like that wild factor. For about five or six seconds,
you say, did I get that gift? But then in
the Super Bowl you say, is this really happening right now?
When you see all the confetti and all the people
coming out of the stands, it's just really me And

(01:00:49):
then all the guys started carrying the super Bowl Trophy around.
I don't want to touch the super Bowl Trophy. That's
what I told everybody on the team. Everybody hands were
on it. And I start to walk into the locker
room by going there by myself, and the super Bowl
Trophy is right there on my locker. So I started
walking in, I grabbed the super Bowl Trophy. I'm gonna

(01:01:10):
tell you something, I started tearing up because it was
just that time to where I had my moment. That
was my moment to wear that whoa, I arrived this.
It took me twelve eleven years to win the Super Bowl,
and it was just it was a monumental moment in
my career and it felt differently after eleven years, and
it would have if you've been a rookie and you
didn't know any better. Yeah, But the thing is the

(01:01:31):
rookies need to understand they usually, let's say, you usually
have the vets that have been there, so they need
to stay humble. You have the rookies that are there
that usually bring that fire, that excitement because they're there.
So you need a little bit of both. But you
don't know if you're gonna make it back because there's
been guys like Damn Marino. You got Jim Kelly that's
been there four times, didn't win the Super Bowl. So

(01:01:52):
you don't know if you're gonna be able to go back,
even with the same team. So you gotta chairsh that
moment and the guys have to make sure they stay
focused this week. You got to play with a lot
of big time stars over the years. How similar Peyton
Manning and Tony Romo and the way that they go
about the game. I think they're playing tenacity is the same.
They want to score touchdowns, they're going to lead the team.

(01:02:14):
But the way that each guy leads is different. Because
with Peyton he was more old school. He was more
of the guy in the meetings and calling a lot
of the meetings. They call him. They don't call him
to share for no reason. Right now was the deputy
when I played with him, so uh, and with Romo
is a little bit different. He was more of the
gun slinger, right, you know, standing back in the pocket
making the big plays. Uh, you know, stramming like scrambling

(01:02:37):
and doing what he needs to do. But he also
was a leader, but he led by example, but Peyton
led more vocally. So it was two different things. But
you still get the job done no matter what. What
do you think happens in the Super Bowl? What happens?
I say the Rams win because my guy Wade has played.
He's a great He's a great coach. He teaches the

(01:02:58):
guys in a man aner to where he breaks them down,
but then he gives them a lot of confidence by
the scheme that he brings to the table and put
you in places to really make plays. And he played
the Patriots twice already he won twice. You meet the
Patriots an FC game and you beat him in a
big game during the season when I played, so he's
familiar with the Patriots. And so for me, my guy Wade,

(01:03:21):
I think it's gonna be like twenty four to like
a one game. Ram's gonna take it. Last question for you,
Sean McVeigh, thirty three years old. How crazy is it
that he is a head coach in the NFL and
having the success that he is the new innovative coaching
mentality when you get a team under you that trust you,

(01:03:44):
that uh, you can change. You can see that how
every single week it's usually a different scheme, but they
have confidence in what they're doing. But then he's like
smooth Rerico suave type to where like when he comes
up and talks to the team. I mean, I've been
in some of them meetings. He's one of those guys
where you know, I want to run into the wall
for this guy, and that's what you want from a coach,

(01:04:06):
and that's why they're playing so well. And with him,
it's not about an age thing. It's about a want
to and you can see him coming to the meetings
with the fire under under his butt and the and
it makes the players do the same thing. This outstanding man.
How can people follow you on social media? You active? Yes,
I'm active on social media on Instagram, Twitter, all of
my social handles. It's at de Marcus ware. Um, just

(01:04:29):
make it real simple and uh just come follow me
and uh that's I'm here right now. That's why I
say it with Crown Royal and uh really promoting have
a couple of drinks for the Super Bowl, but also
make sure you drink moderately. That's there the whole campaign
and saying it's a family atmosphere. But the twelfth man
have to stay in the game. We need you, especially
on third down when you rush the past. Suff is

a back to Cleet Travis in Atlanta for Super Bowl
fifty three. We are joyed now by Brady Quinn clark
Ken himself. Uh. Notre Dames, Notre dames, all star um
here live on Radio Row. How's the voice holding up? Friday?
You're talking on it's hanging on by a thread, and
and people they're like, come on, man, I've been here

(01:06:38):
since Monday. I started eight I end at six pm.
And what people don't realize is then is after that
you've you've got to be social. So you're meeting with
executives with your network. Uh and I work for different networks,
So I'm kind of making the rounds, making sure I
say a load to everyone. The Fox crew. I haven't

(01:06:58):
I've yet to see so that would be my my
prerogative at least tonight hopefully seeing Jacob Oleman and and
Brad Zager and all the rest of the crew that's
in town. But so it's it could be taxing. I'll
just put it that way. So I think it's kind
of fascinating. So you're doing you call games right, uh
for Fox in college football, so I want to and

(01:07:19):
the NFL, it's right, you do a little bit of everything.
So I want to start with what I think is
one of the most fascinating questions that will come out
of the NFL Draft, which by the way, will be
happening in my hometown in Nashville. I can't wait to
see how that's gonna go. Where should Kyler Murray be drafted?
If you're basing it off the tape, he's the best quarterback.
Now the Cardinals are sitting on one they don't need
a quarterback. But I think we all know how that

(01:07:39):
works in past years. Someone if they deem he's the
guy they wanted to target and they want to guarantee
that they will get him, they'll trade up to get him.
With the Arizona Cardinals. I mean, I know there's been
all this stuff floating around how Cliff Kingsbury was the
new head coach there. It loves Kyler, he loved him,
you know, his time in high school and all that,
and that he would trade Rosen and that would be
part of a deal or something um in order to

(01:08:02):
acquire more pieces and get a guy like Kyle. That's
so many moving parts. And and outside of that, Steve
Kim is the one who's in control. He's the one
who's setting the roster there. So that that that what's
been thrown out there, that's hypothetical, it won't happen. So
you're probably gonna see a team like the Giants, Jags
or Broncos at ten. Right, those are the three teams

(01:08:24):
in the top ten. One of those three teams either
gonna move up or maybe they feel comfortable enough sitting
and waiting if he drops to them. But I think
if you're looking at the tape he you're not gonna
find better tape. Bottom line, we're talking to Brady Quinn.
How old are you now this year? So when you
see Tom Brady at forty one, how unbelievable is that

(01:08:45):
to you? So it's it's obviously unbelievable to me. I
mean I was only a part of one scene that
made the playoffs. So, like I always try to explain
to people, like to make it in the NFL, like
because because everyone out there at some point a lot
of people football fans played in high school. So then
to make it to the NFL, it's it's like fractions
of our percent for high school players to make it
and play three years. So when you think about they're like, okay,

(01:09:05):
so I ended up playing like eight and and this dude,
so when I was in high school, he was winning
super Bowls. He was like who you looked up to,
an idolized. I played my ears. I'm done. I've transitioned
to broadcast now for four years. The dude's still doing it.
It's and and so it's like one thing for me
to say it. I talked to heines Ward yesterday. I
talked to Dion Sanders Yester' I'm asking the same thing,

(01:09:27):
and everyone just kind of puts their head down and
shakes their head, like, I think, if he wins this one,
this is like that one that just you know, when
you're someone's twisting your on behind your back, you say uncle.
It's like anyone who doesn't want to say is the
greatest of all time? It's over. Like it's over, it's
a knockout, it's over. You have no argument to make.

(01:09:47):
And I think this year this team has kind of
done that because this is probably the least talented team
he's had, and even with Gronk like not being and
just all the factors like this is where it makes
you say uncle, and there's no dispute, like you can't
even say, arguably the best of all time, he is
the best. There's no debate. We said next week, if
he wins, the debate will shift from Lebron versus Jordan's.

(01:10:09):
I think because of the six titles that would be
equal with Jordan's and with Brady. Who do you think
has had the more impressive career Jordan's because he's done
longevity and and he's done it too through an air
where I mean, think about all the different pieces he's
won with and and again the best team he had
where they went went eighteen or no, and then they

(01:10:30):
lose to the Giants. I mean, it's it's you could
count championships. A lot of football guys would tell you
just I mean, how many times I showed up in
the a f C Championship. How many times they've made
it to Super Bowls? Like then, that's kind of where
that Lebron conversation comes in. How many Eastern Conference Finals
he made it too? Because people don't understand how hard
it is. I mean, Clay, it is. I was my

(01:10:53):
rookie year. We went ten and six in Cleveland to
make the playoffs, like ten and six most years makes
the playoffs. We didn't even win our division, and and
so you know you're going to the next year thinking, Okay,
we're gonna build off of this, right, I end up
getting hurt. Derek Anderson gets hurt, like the rest of
the thing, you know, crap hits the fan, and our
head coach and general manager of fire. You start over
like it's hard to win in the NFL. It's it's

(01:11:15):
it's the way it's set up. It's created for parody,
and and so you know, for me, it's like, I'm
just it's remarkable what he's been able to do. And
I don't think you'll find ever again a team that's
done what they've done under the Brady Belichick air. I
just every league set up not to allow something like
this to happen. What's your favorite thing that you do
in media? Now we're talking with Brady Quinn because you

(01:11:36):
said you do the CBS Sports Uh, and then you've
got obviously the calling the games with Fox and everything
else associated with that. What are you like radio sports radio? Yeah?
So yeah, I work with Jonas knox Ford. That's uh,
that's a fun show. And did you do you know Jonas?
I've never met him. Actually he's he's he's here. Uh.
He he'll be coming in for a show they do

(01:11:57):
at six pm today. Yeah, but I'm one, so early
in the morning. Most people aren't up right, Like, so
six nine am, you're up early. Yeah. I had two kids. Yeah,
I gotta if I want to work out. And I
always put it this way, when you come to dad, um,
your your perspective changes because every single I mean, when
you get married, your perspective changes, at least in my mind.
So once you have kids, everything's about your kids first wife,

(01:12:19):
then then maybe you and when you get married honest
by your wife first then you. So if I always say, like,
if if I want to do anything and not feel
guilty about it, like I have to do it before
everyone else is up right. Um, But back to your question,
It's all fun to me because it all has its place,
and that's why I've continued to keep doing what I'm doing.
So I love calling games. It keeps you close to it.

(01:12:42):
I love working with Joe Davis. He's a flipping star
man and he's still incredibly young. People well, a lot
of people listening to us in l A know about
Joe's work because of the Dodgers obviously, but also a
lot of college I'm just trying to loosen them up
a little bit because because it's it's funny, Like he's
a really entertaining, witty, funny guy, and I think he
gets worried about, you know, letting that show sometimes too
much because he is so young. And he's right, yeah,

(01:13:05):
but but I think when you're young like that, you
feel like you have to act a certain way exactly.
But but he's incredible, so it's so it's like it's
fun like working with like your best friend. Right. I
do serious x M NFL radio with Bruce Murray. I've
really got to know him over the years. Uh, really
enjoyed just uh he's like a father figure in a way.
With some of the different knowledge he passes along the

(01:13:26):
Fox work video shows like a release because I do
it after I'm done with either calling an NFL game
or calling college football, and so I have this chance
to just kind of sit back and just have fun. Yeah,
and and and that's what Fox Sports Radio is. That's
what I love about it, Like people can give opinions
and have fun and it doesn't have to be so
scheme oriented or whatever else, Like you can just talk
talk sports. Yeah, we have a lot of fun with that.

(01:13:47):
Who you got in the game, what do you expect
to see happen? I think they win comfortably. I don't
know about comfortably. I mean the lines of the two
and a half right now. If I was if it
is any higher, I would take the rams um because
three three to me, I hate anyway, I hate that number.
But but in that case, I'd probably take the rams
at two and a half. I mean, I still I
still think the Pats went by a field goal. We
asked this question yesterday, last question for you, because I

(01:14:08):
know you gotta get get out. Would you rather have
Sean McVeigh for the next ten years or Jared Goff
for the next ten years? Not not a doubt, right,
and that's rare that you would take the coach over
the quarterback in the NFL. That's a sign of how
dominant you think Sean McVeigh is and how good he
is a job. Yeah, you know, I'm gonna talking with
Ka Shanahan here in a little bit, and uh, it's
funny because you know, Sean's running his offense. Yeah, like

(01:14:31):
they were together in Washington. He took Sean took all
that stuff and that's what he's running now. And it's
just funny because everyone's like, oh, Sean mcveigh's look at
Kyle Shanahan. Look what George Kittle did this year, and
they put a three quarterbacks, they picked up a kid
of Nick Mullins off the street, and they're winning football games.
They're competitive. Like look and and Kyle Shannon's offense goes

(01:14:51):
back with his dad but also has roots back to
Bill Walsh. So you know, as look, I'm giving Sean
McVeigh all the credit, but at the same time, like
there's other in offensive minds that like haven't been getting
the credit they deserve, Like Can's one of them. Outstanding
stuff is always bray Quinn. Keep killing it. What's your
Twitter feed? H third underscore goals from my foundation make
home's handcaff accessible for one of veterans. Awesome. We come back.

(01:15:14):
We will dive back into l A Braun. He was
back on the court. What happened? This is Outkicked the
Coverage on Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live
editions of Outkicked the Coverage with Clay Travis week days
at six am Eastern three am Pacific. Welcome back, Geico,
OutKick Studios. A message from Welch's Grape Juice. The conquered
grape is the perfect grape. It needs no added sugar,

(01:15:35):
added flavor. It's also the perfect size and consistency for
being smashed, crushed, ground up, and pulverized into delicious, antioxidant
rich juice the world's toughest antioxidants. Welch is tough as grapes.
Last night, many of you waking up across the country
may not have realized, but we're back to the lebron
James Carnival. L A Braun came back in. There wasn't

(01:15:57):
a lot of expectation that he was going to be
back in. Cue the music boys, We gotta get an
update here. Hey, I got I got I got I
got from the first show in the country to predict
hashtag future Laker. Instead of three hours of it, Clay
Travis captures all the mania in three minutes. Lebron has

(01:16:18):
picked up the circus tent and it has followed him
wherever he is gone. Overtime game battle for Los Angeles
two teams that both play in the Staples Arena. Lebron
James comes back. I saw it on Twitter that he
was going to be back. Guy. Turns out he's pretty
good at basketball. What happened? This was a surprise that

(01:16:38):
he came back right now, right and I watched the game.
It was on everywhere in Atlanta. There's a ton of
Laker fans in Atlanta. There's a lot of Laker fans
everyone I know, but especially in Atlanta. Remember when the
whenever you'd see the Lakers playing against the Hawks, there
would be so many Lakers. Well, if you had ever
tried to root for the Atlanta Hawks, maybe the most
irrelevant franchise in pro sports history when you really think

(01:17:00):
about how little they've done and how unfun they have
been to follow. So but so Yeah, while Broun last night,
while the world waits for hashtag free Anthony Davis hashtag
future Laker. Where's our dropper? Burrough hashtag future Laker hashtag
future Laker. Word is the Pelicans and Lakers spoke yesterday

(01:17:22):
and everyone is available except Lebron. Lebron, of course, missed
the last seventeen games. He was out of sync in
the first quarter with three turnovers, but he got his
sea legs under him as the game got going. King
James almost had a triple double in forty minutes on
the floor, which those minutes surprised some people. Twenty four points,
fourteen rebounds, and nine assists as the Lakers gained a

(01:17:44):
game on the Clippers, as you mentioned, by beating them
in O T one. Twenty Saturday, Lakers are at Golden
State eight thirty pm. Lebron was asked after the overtime
win what he expects moving forward. I want to kind
of see how my body reacts tomorrow. You know that's
gonna be a telltale sign for me, how my body
feels tomorrow after having to play forty minutes unfortunately with

(01:18:04):
the overtime, But where my asso to get back to
this point. There was a tougher stretch of my career,
you know, not being out on the floor and and
uh being out of five weeks, but it just felt
great to get back out here. This is my rest haveing.
This is where I can shut out everything and be
on the floor, be out there with my guys, command
my guys and um and get a win on the road.
It will be interesting to see what happens with this
Anthony Davis story as we come down the next six

(01:18:26):
days before the NBA trade trade deadline officially arrives on Thursday.
I'm sure we'll be talking about this sum a lot
next week. There seems to be a similar response coming
right now from the New Orleans Pelicans that we saw
from the San Antonio Spurs, where these franchises are basically saying,
we refuse to deal with the Lakers. We're not going

(01:18:46):
to trade and allow Lebron and his management to try
to dictate to us what is going to happen with
our star. And I think the response has basically convinced
me that nothing's gonna happen and of the summer. But
Anthony Davis did exactly what you predicted. He said that
it'll be a one year rental for any other team
except l A. Yeah, totally get that, and uh, I

(01:19:09):
kind of expect that would be the next statement that
would come out would be Okay, you know, if you
want to trade for me, you're trading for me for
one year. But look, the Oklahoma City thunder did it
for Paul George and it worked out. And can see
whether or not Kauai can be persuaded to stay in
Toronto or if he's gonna leave and go back to
l A to be joined by somebody there. We'll see

(01:19:29):
what all happens. But I do think there is a
pushback against this idea that l A. Braun is gonna
be able to dictate not just his own decisions but
the decisions of other teams and other parts of this uh,
certainly NBA drama off the court. All Right, we come back,
final hour of the week from the Super Bowl. Encourage

(01:20:53):
waking up across the country, as I know many of
you are, guess what we've got fourteen hours in the books.
We have been often rolling all week long from Radio
Row in Atlanta. Final hour of the show, We've got
some cool stuff coming your way. Let me give you
a little roadmap. We're gonna talk with Chip Rank. I
think you guys are gonna enjoy this. He has been
an equipment manager for the l A Rams for the

(01:21:15):
past fifty three years. He has followed them everywhere. He's
got some incredible stories. He's gonna join us here shortly. Also,
we're gonna talk with Ryan Shayzy or his recovery from
a devastating injury with the Pittsburgh Steelers has been one
that many of you have been following. He's gonna join
us live here, and then we'll close it out with

(01:21:36):
Kurt Menafee as Fox Sports. I know on Sunday, CBS
has got the Super Bowl, but guess who's got the
Super Bowl next year in Miami, which is gonna be
a phenomenal event. I was talking with some guys last night.
They have already mapped out a huge stage that Fox
Sports will have all day long. They'll be using literally
on the beach on South Beach, So that is gonna

(01:21:57):
be a phenomenal scene next year. I mean, we're gonna
have field passes for next year's Superman. I think there's
probably a good chance we could get those. I also
think I also think I might be able to wear
flip flops every day because if we're on the beach,
need to actually wear where she Also, if it gets
cold in Miami, we've got a bad break going on.
But so I think that's gonna be pretty phenomenal. I

(01:22:19):
can't wait to check all that in your cargo shorts
and flip flops. Yeah, there's no doubt about that. Uh,
let's let's dive into some of these stories. If you're
just waking up. Lebron James made his return last night
nearly a triple double Lakers win in overtime. Schedule is
about to get a lot more difficult for uh, Lebron
and the Lakers going forward, big time trade. If you
didn't see this happen yesterday afternoon, Chris STAPs porzingis to

(01:22:41):
the Dallas Mavericks from the Knicks. The Nicks trying to
clean up cap space to make a run at Kevin Durant,
also obviously hoping they are gonna win the lottery and
be able to draft Zion Williamson. Could the New York
Knicks actually be relevant for the first time in twenty
five years. There is a possibility that could be the case,
So we will see whether or not that transpires. Actual

(01:23:05):
Super Bowl news. Honestly, not a lot out there not
a lot trending this morning as the game gets closer
and closer. But we have got a guy who's sitting
down with us now here soon who has been through
a lot of these different games over the years. For
fifty three years, he has been working as the now
l a RAM equipment manager. Super Bowl fifty three also

(01:23:27):
going on. Do you remember the first Super Bowl? Vaguely? Yeah,
we're talking with Chip Rank fifty three years. This is
a pretty amazing story to be associated with the NFL
and to have spent the time as you have. How
nervous do you think you'll be by kickoff here? Or
have you've seen so many games before you don't get
that nervous. Well, you know, you don't really get real nervous.

(01:23:51):
You're just kind of excited about the whole thing. Yeah,
anxious to see how they're going to day. Um, you've
moved around with the rams from one city to another
city and all those different places in between. What are
some of your favorite memories over fifty three years? And
we're talking with Chip Rank, uh legendary equipment manager in
the NFL who has spent over fifty years, fifty three

(01:24:13):
years with the Ramps. Probably you know a long time.
We'll try to wash all the uniforms. We didn't really
have a lot of powders back then, and most of
it was fabric cheer. I would just smell the uniforms,
see if they need to get If they didn't smell bad,

(01:24:33):
I just um kind of like fold them up and
put them back on the locker, let them have it.
You ever travel and realize, oh, we forgot some of
the uniforms or some of the equipment. You ever have
one of those uh oh moments when you're on the road, Well,
you know, we always do, and you just try to
make do with what you can. What's what's the most

(01:24:55):
difficult make do you've ever had? Well, quarterback Mr Brocklin
he um, he always confided in me that the pants
was just too tight. So I wanted to wash him.
I put softball down there and so when it dried,
it would give him a little room. He was happy

(01:25:17):
with that. It was all good. My arm is killing me.
But um, other than that, not not really a whole lot.
Mm hmm, Oh God, play we're talking your friends. Lock

(01:25:44):
it in. Hello, you just faked a heart attack live
on the air with me. I honestly had no idea.
You guys got me. I'm like, I had no idea
what to do. So that was good. Oh that is
that is unbelievable. Somebody's on the phone line for us

(01:26:07):
right now. I literally thought you just died on the air,
and I was like, well, this is gonna be tough
to explain. I don't know. I go to break too,
I don't I don't know what. I don't see any
CPR coming. I didn't want it. I didn't want it.
You're not a good look at girl. I don't want
to give who do we have on? I literally thought

(01:26:30):
he died and I was like, man, this is probably
gonna go viral. And I don't know. I don't know
what I was supposed to do, Like, I don't know CPR.
That was That was unbelievable. We have Rachel Banetta, you
guys five am on the West Coast, just to set

(01:26:54):
me up for this, prepping for this, What if we
were you hoping that I was gonna do? Were you
hoping I was gonna go mount them out there? Yeah?
I to see my reaction because I was like, I
don't know what to do. You can still do? What
if you want we can cut off. The best part

(01:27:14):
of all of this was we were listening to you
for the last five minutes before we even went on
with Chip, and you were talking about how phenomenal you
think Sal and I are so oh that was miked up,
and you guys could hear it. They had turned on
as a dangerous thing when you get miked up and

(01:27:35):
you don't know what people are gonna see. Obviously, I
was lying, um, this uh, this uh is pretty good too,
by the way, I texted you guys this last night.
But on Walking In, We've been having James Harrison on
as a as a guest, right and so I got
in the elevator last night with James Harrison and I
was like, hey, James, you know Clay Travis, uh, you

(01:27:55):
come on the show with us? And he looked at me.
Literally the first thing he said was you look a
lot better on television. Um. And I don't know that
I've ever had a more devastating one sentence delivered to
me than James Harrison delivering that right now, that's when
you deliver your knee. Yeah, I know. I told him
that I wanted him to body slam you on the
show at some point, So Chip, how did this get

(01:28:17):
set up? Chip? When did this like decision that you
were going to fake the heart attack happening? Not Chip,
He's an actor from Atlanta. So this entire thing is
all set up, you got I was just walking down
the street and they said, hey, you want to do
something fun. You don't even have a radio show. It's
all I don't even know what's true now. So they
set me up that much, that far out in advance. Unfortunately, Yes,

(01:28:45):
were you ever going to do anything? My first thought was,
I can't believe that Eric Shanks put this guy on
the show and he just died. This is gonna be
on the president of Fox Sports. This isn't my fault
that he died live on the air. If you put
a dead man on the air, it's on Shanks. That's
my first on. My second thought was we gotta go
to break. And then I was like, but I don't
want to go to break too early, and the dead

(01:29:06):
man like, so I was like, I had no idea,
what you guys, I don't. I don't know that I've
ever been pranked to this good ever in my life.
We can do it again, and how many people out
here now standing around knew this was happening. Everybody and nobody. No,
I should have known when Dixon got here this early

(01:29:27):
that something was up. Uh to Harley Dixon and Winner
here early in the morning, I should have known that
something was going on. I was jotting down notes. I'm like,
he's been a Ramsom manager, equipment manager of fifty three years.
I'm like, it seems a little crazy that they want
to film this for next year's Super Bowl. But you
know what, I don't ask questions. I just do whatever
I'm told was going to be the case. So that's
why we did this. Um. Well, first of all, thank

(01:29:49):
you guys for getting up. And by the way, this
is a good time to promo our show. Lock It
In is on every day at four thirty Eastern. We
gotta television, and we got a picture I'm at we'll
probably run. Yeah, I'm assuming we'll run some of the
us on the show today. Um and uh, yeah, this
is a this is a hell of a time. And
but by the way, while I got both of you
guys on, um, Rachel Bonetta and cousin sal Uh, how

(01:30:12):
for people out there who haven't watched the show, I'll
start with you, sal what would you tell them, like,
this is great because you guys are not usually up
this early. You just had to get up early to
humiliate me. But now that you're there, what would you
tell people about why to watch the show? I would
tell them to continue to not watch me with an
entertaining group, and we have fun and we're informational. Sometimes

(01:30:35):
we have our one hundred show today. Can you believe it?
Yeahs An, I didn't know we would make it to
a hundred. Uh, Banetta, you are the second best looking
person on the television show. Um, since I've been getting
makeup this week, how has that really kind of impacted
your life to not be the best looking on the
show for a week? Okay, Well, first off, I won
this by a mile landslide. Now, this show is super fun.

(01:30:58):
I always describe it by saying that I just laughed
for an hour every single day, usually at you because
you're terrible. I'm not sure how you guys on this,
but no, it's a ton of fun. Even for people
who are not super into gambling. I think that they
would enjoy it. So I don't think there's any doubt
at all. Now, why is Ferman not involved? In the prank. Yeah,

(01:31:18):
it's well, um upside down. Uh, sal I was. I
was close to Roger Goodell while I was down here,
and I thought about serving him with our lawsuit over
our defeat in the Saints game where we lost sixty
dollars nearly between the two of us. But I didn't
quite get close to him. Um did he apologize? You
supposed supposedly is apologizing to everyone who was affected. So yeah,

(01:31:41):
he has not yet apologized to me. I was hoping
that my phone was gonna ring, and I was gonna
look down. It was gonna be Roger Goodell. He's gonna say,
I'm sorry that your wife can now buy anything that
she wants because you lost thirty dollars on this game. Um.
But but that's uh, that has not happened yet. Um.
It's funny like, uh, one of our our staff back
in l A all fell forward to right did they know?
Did the people in the radio in l A, our

(01:32:03):
Nashville phone screener did not know? Like he's he just
put in the g chat no way, Like we thought
we had a dead man on the show. And Twitter
is blowing up right now. The listeners all thought the
same thing. I didn't. I didn't know what to do.
I mean, I can't wait to watch the video to
see my face like price priceless, priceless. And I was thinking,
like when he first touched his arm, I'm like, this

(01:32:25):
is what the symptoms are for a heart attack. But
surely he's not gonna have a heart attack and just
go down right here to guarantee that. Yeah, well that's
how I felt on a vine of my gambling picks
and a lot of other people who have taken the
gambling picks too as well. Um, and this is incredible.
I I've actually I just want to get off the
air now so I can watch the video of this
and see what it actually looks like. Yeah, that was

(01:32:50):
gonna be an awful, awful interview too. I was like,
this is not that like like Shapiro who runs Fox Sports. Ready,
I was like, is this guy gonna be okay on
the air? And he's like, he's like ninety, but he's
got incredible stories. And then when he's talking about making
room for the growing for some guy I don't even know,
I'm like, this is really already kind of going out
the rim. What's your real name? And how long have

(01:33:11):
you been an actor. My my real name is Craig. Folks,
I've been acting on going on seven eight years. So
when did they contact you and say you have to
have a pretend heart attack live on the radio? Like
how long? When did they reach out to a week ago?
A week? And so, yeah, I want to hear the
story of how you guys set this up. Bonetta and
cousin Sal Like, when did you guys have the idea
we're gonna have somebody fake a heart attack on the

(01:33:32):
air with Clay Well, we kind of had it like
a month ago, probably lightning struck Sal and I at
the exact same time. And then we started the process
looking for an actor kind of about a week ago,
and we got Craig to actually do a heart attack
for us on It was skyping heart attack and very impressive.

(01:33:53):
It looks great, So we're like, you're hired. And then
you got literally the president of Fox Sports to text
me this long, detailed explanation about how could I fit
this guy in because it would be great for Fox
and the stories would be great for the Super Bowl
next year, And I'm like, yeah, sure, you know, we'll
make it happen. Just took advantage of my good good
nature and the fact that I just bent over backwards
to do whatever is necessary and then put a man

(01:34:15):
on the stage to have a fake heart attack. You
didn't exactly do whatever is necessary because he would have
died right there. What was the best case scenario for
you guys for how I should have like, if you
could have sketched out my response, what would you have
wanted me to do? I would have liked you to
have soiled your pants in a way hip here would
have had a watch. Oh, man, and I have to

(01:34:37):
go find the fab and all that. Man, I was
trying to do that. Yeah, this is incredible live radio
because I was thinking this is gonna be the most
difficult interview I've ever done, because this this is not
very good stories. And then the guy started talking about
pain in his arm, and I was like, Oh, this
is this is not going ideal. So you guys came
up with the idea month ago and then you pitch

(01:34:58):
it and everybody's like, oh, yeah, that makes total sense.
We'll hire a guy to fake a heart attack away. Yeah,
everyone was unboard. Yeah, this is an expensive prank and
uh and very early in the morning, so it uh
in all seriousness, this is amazing. Well, and if you're
not watching Lock It In, you truly never have any
idea what's gonna happen. They just took advantage of me

(01:35:18):
here early in the morning. I can't wait to do
the show this afternoon, and I also can't wait to
see what this is gonna look like. What else do
you guys want to say? Since you're up so early,
I'm actually thinkingful that you guys have actually come on
the show for the first time. I don't want to
say anything. I want to say good night. Yeah, all right,
that's outstanding. Cousin sal Rachel Bannetta will be live the

(01:35:39):
Eastern Oh yeah, damn boy. Hold on, Banetta, Danny g
is in love with you. But you don't you know
what happened? Also, Banetta, when Alex Curry said in, he
asked me about Alex Curry too, So I don't know
what's going on here. He may be a little bit
not as enamored as I thought. No, it's just two
of my favorites happened to be on the same show,
so they got the perfect villa in for Rachel. Yeah

(01:36:00):
that's a good that's a good answer, all right. Uh,
I'll talk to you guys this afternoon. Incredible job. That
is the best I've ever been pranked. I think it's
Rachel Banana and it's cousin sal Go back to bed.
I'll see you guys later. Uh. They are awesome. Um.
And if you have not watched our show yet, I mean,
I swear to god, you almost had the heart attack.
I didn't know what to do. In all honesty, I mean,

(01:36:22):
I've had a lot of different things go on live
on the radio. But when he started touching his arm
and you knew about it, Yeah, you knew this is
gonna happen. But you were actually a pretty good actor.
Because I was looking at you trying to think, like
what should I do? You're the producer, you should be
in charge of heart attacks? Um and uh and I
gave you the quizzical look. And I was even like Clay,
like what do we what do we do? And I

(01:36:43):
was motioning for help. So we all we all rehearsed
really good acting. I want to go to break now
because I want to see what my reaction was because
I was like, I don't know what I'm supposed to do. Um. This,
by the way, his outkicked the coverage. We're gonna be
joined still by Ryan Shazier and Kurt Menifee. If you're
just getting into your car. Uh, my co hosts on
lock it In just had a guest that Fox Sports

(01:37:04):
set up a prank, and I thought our guest was
having a live heart attack on the air, and everybody
else knew. Here who's standing around watching what was gonna
go on? Nobody gave me any clue. They enlisted all
the way up to the president of Fox Sports to
make this happen, and uh, I think they basically delivered
it flawlessly. Hey, you were outstanding. Yeah, I'm glad you're alive.

(01:37:24):
We feel a lot better than I did. Yeah, Uh,
that was phenomenal. When we come back, we'll continue to
unpack this. We'll talk with Ryan Jay z here. I
gotta do a live read. Hold on. I gotta tell
you about Zippcruiter. Right now, unemployment rate three point nine percent,

I'm happy to report everyone's still alive on this show.
I thought we might have a dead man. This is

(01:38:49):
how Kick the Coverage on Fox Sports Radio. Be sure
to catch live editions about Kick the Coverage with Clay
Travis week days at six am Eastern three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and The I Heard Radio Whip.
I am still in shock over how amazing that prank
was and how many people were involved to think to
have a guy fake a heart attack live on the show.

(01:39:12):
We're here in the Geico Outkicks Studios were brought to
you by True Car. When it comes to selling or
trading in your car, you need to make good choices,
and with True Car, you've got a star on your roster.
So when you're ready to sell or trade in your car,
check out True Car. True cash offer not available in
all areas. I want to read something. Uh, We've got
the replay ready, but I want to read something too.
First of all, I want to also bring in Dub Dub.

(01:39:34):
You're the only other person who didn't know that this
was going on. Everybody else had been told. Did you
think the guy was dying? What did it for your perspective?
At first, I'm sitting here and I'm laughing at myself
because I'm I'm thinking, this may be the worst interview
I've ever heard in my life. And then it's he's like, oh,
my arm and and it's a good like six or

(01:39:56):
seven seconds of silence, and I'm like, oh God, what
what is going on over there at this Super Bowl
down in Atlanta? And Danny g came on He's like Clay,
and I thought it was like, I think, he McClay,
we need to do something about this diet, this guy
that's dying right in front of our eyes. And then
you know, thankfully it was a prank, but it definitely
got me as well because I was not in on
it at all. They have video done of this, and

(01:40:17):
it's done, I think, in a phenomenal fashion. But I
just want to read this text that I got from
the president of Fox Sports on Tuesday, like the number
of people that were involved in this is unbelievable. But
he texted me hopeful and double duty with lock it
in and radio isn't killing you. Uh, I have an
idea for a human interest guest. I was hoping you

(01:40:37):
can help me out with. Plus it will be some
good chips on our side of the table with the
NFL to kick off the hundred year anniversary, which is
our Super Bowl year. Chip Rank was what I mean,
this is from the president of Fox Sports that he
sent to me. Chip Rank was one of the original
equipment managers for the l A. Rams in the early
nineteen fifties. He's also a friend of the family. It
would be a big favor if you interviewed him on

(01:40:58):
your radio show sometime this week. He's a real character
who has endless stories about old time players, their quirky habits,
how the game has changed, and you can make the
interview great. Uh my thought. And anyway, he just totally
set me up, and I was like, yeah, of course
I would put him on, like you know, as we
get request from you know, Fox to put on people
on the show all the time because it makes sense
for the network as a whole. And I'm still blown away.

(01:41:22):
Do we have we have the audio for people who
are just I haven't checked social media. I'm sure there's
a lot of people out there, but I mean, when
you see this video, the guy starts to touch like
his left arm, and I thinking to myself, oh my god,
I think he's having a heart attack. But you know.
What I also thought was, I was like, well, this
is really early in the segment. I don't know if
I want to go to break this soon. Uh. And
like format I was still thinking about the formatics of

(01:41:45):
the show. That's how well I've been drilled in. I'm like,
I don't want to lose the ratings points by going
to break two early here, because the dies die, especially
in especially in our third hour. You know, l A
market's big for us. Um, But I think we have
the uh, I think we have the audio of that.
And by the way, we're gonna be joined I believe
by Ryan Shays or uh here he is scheduled to
be with us shortly. But let's play let's play that

(01:42:07):
audio if we could. What's difficult make? Do you've ever had? Well?
The quarterback Mr Brocklin, he um, he always can fighted
in me that the pants was just too tight. So
I when I wash him, I put softball down there
and so when it dried it would give him a

(01:42:28):
little room. He was happy with. Yeah, that was all good.
My arm is killing me. But um, other than that,
not not really a who lot mm hmm, oh god.

(01:42:51):
And then for those of you don't know when you're
eventually able to see the video. We're talking your friends,
lock it in. Hello, you just faked a heart attack
live on the air with me. I honestly had no idea.

(01:43:11):
You guys got me. I'm like, I had no idea
what to do. So that was good. That was what
just happened on the show. You know something I didn't realize.
Vito just texted me, he says, bro Clay was gonna
reset his name and networks. That yes, as I said, Clay, like,
let's get help up here, and you didn't know what

(01:43:33):
to do. You were about to reset. Yeah, I was
just gonna reset, like go back, like you know, make
people away. And you started to say, we're talking to
and we're talking to a dying equipment manager right now. Oh.
I can't wait to see the video. I mean I
really can't. That video will be out soon. UH. We
are joined now by Ryan Shazi er Um, a guy

(01:43:55):
that I know many of you are rooting for. UH.
Fabulous to see him. He year on radio row. UH
as he gets set in here and puts his uh
puts his headset on. UM. We talked with UH one
of your teammates, Cam Hayward in the hour one and uh,
Ryan she's here, has got his uh got his headset on. Now,

(01:44:16):
First of all, how are you feeling. I'm feeling great.
You know, every day is getting a lot better. You know,
just trusting the Lord and just constantly working. You know,
some days I might be a little too tired to
do it something rehab, but other than that, I'm just
constantly pushing and I have a right team around. So
your attitude has been incredible since the injury. Did you

(01:44:36):
ever have any dark times at all? Because publicly you've
been so positive, there had to be moments where you
were like, why me, how did this happen? But your
story has been so compelling. So it's crazy because at
the probably the darkest times that it would be for
most people, I try to bring the most light to it.
And then so like the moments that I was actually
doing a lot better, that's when uh, I actually has

(01:44:59):
some dark time. Like it was moments where I'll go
to a facility and I started just crying before I
do a workout because I'm like, man, I don't feel
like I'm making the covery I'm supposed to be making.
But if you think about it, that the week before
I'm walking with a cane. Well now I'm not walking
with a cane, so it's just like I'm making the progress.
But sometimes it's still you have to just really dive

(01:45:21):
in and just look back. Hey, this is where you
were at, so you have to really focus on and like,
all right, I'm doing so much better than I really thought.
It was. One of the truly inspiring moments was when
you made a trip back to Pittsburgh and they put
you on the JumboTron sitting in the sitting in the
suite there. What has the response of the city of
Pittsburgh been like for you and your family? Oh, it's

(01:45:42):
been amazing. And I'm truly thankful that I got drafted
to Pittsburgh and then just being part of the Pittsburgh community,
and I'm happy to call that place home, you know,
because the people there is just they've they's treating me
like um family and honestly, and they've been treating my
family as the same man. Just to see that the
support that I've been having at when I go to

(01:46:03):
hockey events, when I go to the football events, and
and just even when I'm in day to day living,
it's just really amazing. Just to see how they really
engaged me, and I'm just thankful. Take me back to
the injury. When it happened, did you immediately know this
is different than anything has happened to me before or
what did you think? Yeah? It was. It was definitely

(01:46:25):
a moment like hey, this is this is not something
that I'm used to. You know, Uh, WHOA. I was like, WHOA,
what's going on? You know? I thought I was just
trying to make a regular tackle. And it was crazy
because that was like the one tackle in my whole
career I actually thought about, hey, let me try to
focus on like get my head across. Let me focus
on like trying to make a safer tackle. And I

(01:46:47):
think it like I ended like sticking my head out
too much or something like that, and it kind of, um,
I'm gonna say it caused me to hit his hip,
but I end up hearing his hip and and you know, uh,
it definitely was a feeling that I never felt before.
And and now it's just they just changed my life.
So what do they tell you now about your recovery
and your prognosis going forward? So my doctors say, I'm

(01:47:09):
actually like further than they it's expecting to me to
be already. So he was basically saying the rehab that
I've been doing, the recovery I've been doing, and the
pace I've been doing that is no doors closed. So
he was like, basically, you just have to keep working,
keep grinding, and in the days, how hard you work,
as a possibility if you can make it back or not,

(01:47:31):
you want to play football again, Yeah definitely. Uh. I
mean that speaks to how much you love the game
that even after all of this, you would you would
give up a lot to be able to come back. Yeah, definitely.
I try to tell people still to this day, at
end of the day, just because I got hurt doesn't
mean I lose it the love for the game of football.
Like uh, I told people before I got here. I
was like, man, hey, I love football so much. I'm

(01:47:54):
I'm wanting to die for football. And I probably should
have used my words a little and in the day, Um, honestly,
I just I just cared about the game, man. And
I really felt like the game's taking me places that
I never expected to go, and and I just been pinning,
pinning my everything into it, and and I felt like
I was the best linebacker in the league, and I
don't I don't want to come back and leave that

(01:48:15):
as my legacy. I feel like I still have so
much to show. We're talking to Ryan shaz Ere UH,
injured Pittsburgh Steeler star linebacker. What is Mike Tomlin been
like for you through this process? Oh, Man, coach T
He's been such an amazing UH supporter and coach and motivator.
You know. It's crazy, him and Kevin Colbert. They both

(01:48:37):
they pushed me like no other. It would be some
days I'm like, man, man, I'm tired, But man, you
got some more. You keep going, You keep going, And
at end of the day, I know it helps me,
but it also helps them, you know. And UH, just
to see that like it motivates my coaches, it motivates
the GM, and motivates Mr Rooney and my teammates, it
really helps me out so much. Just they keep pushing

(01:48:59):
and UH and me and him have regular conversations all
the time. It could be about football, it can be
about life, and even when it comes to rehab, they
constantly checking in and it just feels good just to
know that there there to help me out. Who were
you here with I'm here with Undernomed Dairy and we
have a campaign and just letting everybody know that, uh,

(01:49:20):
there is just apportant part, apportant meal that everybody should have. Um,
you know, dady day life. Like me and my family
we have some type of dairy every day. Um, me
and my son wake up every morning, have a glass
of milk or chocolate milk. And I know, watching the
Super Bowl, we're gonna have some chips and not your cheese,
you know. So uh, you know, there is just a
big part of our life and and I feel like

(01:49:41):
it was great just to have be part of an
anomoly dery. How old are your kids? So I have
a three week old yeah, and I have a four
year old. So yeah, it's like I'm in brand new
daddy again. Yeah. So I've got ten eight four, So
I know that feeling a little bit. But um, what's
the four year old been like watching you? Oh? It's
amazing because at first it's like he he he didn't

(01:50:04):
really know what was going on, and he just sometimes
it's like it was kind of cool because he'll be like, hey, Daddy,
like do you need me to get your canes? Do
you need to get your wheelchair, like, I remember what's on.
I want to play with him. He like, uh, do
you need your cane? I'm like, Dad, I don't eve
if I can no more, we could play regular now
and now I was like, he under now I could
play with him more, and now I can run around
with him. Or it's kind of funny. He's like when

(01:50:26):
I try to draw, he trying to draw with me.
So he's like, man, are your daddy unfastered you? And
things like that, But honestly, it's just amazing just to
have him in the process. Well, we're rooting for you,
praying for you. Good luck my man. When we come back,
we'll be joined by Kurt Menefe to close out the show.

guys have the same kind of chemistry and you've been

(01:54:29):
doing it for a long time, and I think you've
kind of set the tone for Fox Sports in general.
You guys like working together and you have a good time.
They literally set up a guy to have a fake
heart attack live on the air with me at at
the beginning of our one. I would be afraid, considering uh,
Tony Bradshaw, seventy and Jimmy if that happened on our air,
I would be afraid it might not be fake. I

(01:54:49):
don't know how I would handle that. Um, you guys,
I mean I watched the show all the time I've
been out in l A, I've been fortunate to see
you guys. What I love about it is and you
can't fake this. You're the exact same yep, in the
green room as you are, the Avocado room as they
call it out California, Yeah, California as you are on stage.
How soon did you guys know that you had something special?

(01:55:10):
You know it's I give the grand puba. I call him.
David Hill put this all together at Fox twenty five
years ago. John Madden used to make the reference. Uh,
they called it Fox Sports, but it was really Fox
Sports because it was there was nothing that was They
didn't even have a sports division. So uh, he put
it all together and that first cast he had with

(01:55:32):
James Brown who's the host, along with Terry how He
and Jimmy Johnson. Uh, and then that had its run.
JB left, went to CBS, Jimmy went back to coach
of Dolphins for a little bit, then came back. Uh.
And then I got added to the crew and then
Michael Strahan. You know, it's funny because Michael's the newcomer
and he's been there for eleven years now, this which
I bet seems like it's gone by, really, it really has.

(01:55:53):
This is my This was my thirteenth year and the
twenty fifth year of the show. So when you look
at it like that, you're like, wow, time does fly.
But then you realize you're just with your old friends,
and you hit the nail on the head. When we
are together, we're the same people on the set that
we are when we're off the set, with the exception
if we don't swear and we don't beverages on their

(01:56:14):
you know. Other than that, I mean, you know, we
spend the off season. We have a boy's weekend that
we do. We've done it in Montana to how He's
plays and the keys that Jimmy's plays. We'll do it
in Vegas. Um, we get together for dinner. I live
in Los Angeles, you know, so whenever anyone's out there,
or I'm going to Miami next week, I'm gonna be
with Jimmy for a little bit. My wife and I. UM,
our wives text each other like high school girls. We've

(01:56:36):
known Kyle and Chris Long and little Howie as well
as we call him, who's now thirty year old man,
you know, but since they were teenage boys, so our
families have grown up together. We know each other, and
when we get on the air, it's all genuine because
we have relationships. It's not show up, fake laugh, pretend
you like one another and then go your separate ways.
We're talking to Kurt Menefee. What's it like for you

(01:56:58):
Next year, Fox, I'll have the super Bowl and Amy
this year they don't. What's it like for you super
Bowl year versus non super Bowl, non super Bowl year.
I mean, the benefit of it for me is I
arrived yesterday, so that was Thursday. The years we have
the super Bowl, I'm there on the Sunday before, so
it makes a long week even longer. Uh. And then
just my time commitments. When we don't have the super Bowl,

(01:57:19):
the majority of things I have to do are by
my choice. Um, you know it's some shake, take some hands,
kiss some babies, do some appearances exactly those kinds of things.
When we have the super Bowl, I'll do those early
in the week. But once Wednesday night comes Thursday morning,
I'm all business, all Fox. Uh. Whatever they required me
to do, I do. Otherwise I'm pretty much in my

(01:57:39):
room or with the dinner with the guys or that
kind of thing. Just so we hone in on Sunday.
What do you think happens tomorrow Sunday, I'll tell you
why I've gone. And I'm not kidding. Back and forth
on this game a million times. I mean, I can
see the Rams winning, I can see the Patriots winning.
You can make an argument for each one, and at
some point you go, okay, because you do these interviews,
you gotta make a call. So the way I look
at it, if I'm going back and forth, that means

(01:58:02):
I expected to be a close game throughout, probably, which
I do. Uh, if it's a close game, I have
a hard time picking against Brady and Belichick. I mean,
and that's just kind of what it comes down to.
I see that argument, and I may sound like an idiot,
which is very common on this show. Uh, joined the club.
Many of you are saying out there, I think the
Rams are gonna get it done. I I want to
argue against it. I don't know how you are if

(01:58:24):
you put down the talent, Yeah, the Rams are the
better talent. I think that's exactly it. And I like
the way right now and Dominan Sue is playing alongside
of Aaron Donald and I know nobody else has gotten
pressure on Brady yet in the playoffs. But I think
coming straight up the center from the defensive tackle position,
I think those guys have an opportunity to potentially control
things from their perspective. So here's my counter argument to that. Then,

(01:58:46):
the Rams have been able to stop the run the
last two games the Patriots. This is the best run
game they've had maybe since I don't know, Corey Dillon.
I mean, it's been a while with Sony Michelle. But
they don't just run the ball. Their run game extends
to the screen passes, and James White can can murder
you that way. And the weakness of the Rams defense
is that line back and course, so they can get pressure.

(01:59:06):
You just threw a dump a little three yards screen off,
next thing you know, it's a first down, and that's
I think maybe the difference. Yeah, I agree, And that's
the challenge here is Brady has so rapid of his
recognition of the defense and toss it to James White,
no doubt. Now you are being inducted into the n
A B Hall of Fame. The show is being inducted
into the NAB Show. But yes you are. What does

(01:59:26):
that mean for you? Yeah? It's it's absolutely spectacular because
you look at what we're talking about. The show has
been around for twenty five years and this is the
biggest Hall of Fame there is for television. We're the
first sports show to go in. That's it really isn't
mean it mashes in Jeopardy, you know, all the classic
television shows, and now Fox NFL Sunday will be there
as well, So for for all time. And it's a
proud moment. And I say not just for those of

(01:59:48):
us on camera. There are people that work behind the
scenes and people have no idea. I'm so happy and
proud that those people will be recognized. A great family
at Fox Sports, Kurt Menefee and his crew helped to
set its own that has carried through for decades. Now,
my man, congratulations, thanks for finishing all's going to see
us here. We have had an incredible week live radio
