Two Pros and a Cup of Joe, Fox Sports Radio,
LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here. Coming
up on a Football Friday, we are going to look
back at a dominant performance from the Detroit Lions last night,
and is there a hope for any other team in
the NFC North. I don't think so, but some people
on this show disagree. We're also going to take a
look around the NFL and talk about some storylines out there,
(00:22):
like what the hell are they doing with the toy
story and Taylor Swift and all the other mumbo jumbo
that comes along with it. For some reason, Jennifer Love
Hewitt makes an appearance on this show. Why not quite
sure an NFL star is punished, but not really because
he doesn't have to go to a place at many
of you dread. Albert Breer's gonna stop by and take
a couple of digs at Brady Quinn over the Ohio
(00:44):
State Notre Dame game. Plus, we've got our picks against
the spread, and you in and you out, it's all
yours coming up next here, Two Pros and a Cup

com the way tire buying should be. Well well, well, well, well, well,
just another Friday here.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Well, just a little NFC North action last night.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Oh that was good, that was good?
Speaker 3 (01:53):
Wells coming, Yeah, Can I give you the like my prospective,
just years of seeing the Lions. When you grow up
in Columbus, Ohio, you're obviously aware of like some of
the teams around you. You play for the Browns, you have
a preseason game against them.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
All that.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
The way the game started, I kind of thought to myself, like,
this is that moment you ended Green Bay season last year,
and it was kind of like ships passing in the night,
like this, this Lions team's becoming something, right, especially when
you end any chance or hope of the Packers into
the playoffs. And I was like that the Lions team
are becoming something. They were the betting favorite to win
(02:33):
the division coming into the year. And then I'm like, well,
last night, though, that's the night you got to do it. Like,
if you want to be at the top of the
NFC North, you have to go into Green Bay, you
have to go to lambeau Field, and you got to
find a way of getting a win. And that first series,
the interception interception that got through, I was.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Like, oh, here we go again. Here all the hype,
all this excite and everything else. I was like, here
we go again. And then the defense comes out and
the defense gets some.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Stumps, they get a whole dayly, they force a field goal,
and then you watch that next drive and the Lions
go right down the field and answer with a touchdown
next drive right down. I believe that love got picked
off the next series and then they go right back
down the field touchdowns like fourteen to three. I'm going, Okay,
this is different. This is different. This is not the
old Lions. This is not what we thought. This is
(03:22):
what everyone had talked about before the season. Then becoming
they're here, and it was it's pretty darn cool to
see man an.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Organization that has not gotten there.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
And you know, I don't want to sound like I'm
making too much of one game, but that's how I
saw the beginning of this game, and once it started
taking place, was like, Okay, this is different.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
It feels different. The Lions are legit right now.
Speaker 4 (03:44):
He Jonas Q sounds very excited about the Detroit Lions. Man,
like super excited.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
How could you not be excited about football?
Speaker 4 (03:54):
I mean, you know what, that was a great segue
because that's what I was feeling, Like, you are excited
about the Detroit Lions, but you are also excited about football.
That's what I was thinking in my head. That's why
I was like, like Jonas, like, he's super excited.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Yeah, it definitely is. Yeah, and it's appropriate. Considering that
it is appropriate, I'm looking at let's see, it's where
are you looking at Let's see it's September twenty ninth.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
Is what is September twenty ninth? What is that?
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Oh? What getting at?
Speaker 2 (04:23):
What? What? What? What was I getting at?
Speaker 1 (04:26):
It's a football prime.
Speaker 5 (04:29):
Come on, come on, come on, Detroit, come on the
big line.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Come on, come on, Detroit, Detroit.
Speaker 5 (04:44):
Em and come on twelve, come on, come on Sam
cut that man, come on, come on.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Let's get real with it. Let's do this. Let's do
this old school.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
Yeah right, I don't like I like that guy.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
I do not like hands behind that head, like that Montgomery. Yeah,
it is a football Friday. Here onto it.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
I don't like it. I don't like it.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
I'm not down with that version about by the way,
that's like that's like when Usher comes out for the
halftime show. You know, he's playing all his hits and
the next thing you know, you got a country band
that comes out after.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Yeah. Yeah, she's trying to what's wrong with that? Trying
to force it in?
Speaker 2 (05:36):
I like country.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
I like, you know, hip hop, R and B, but
it's like you never heard I never heard of what
you call never heard of what you call country and
rap together it's called Yeah, it's not good. If you
combine them both, you gotta appreciate them separately.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
You know.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
Some people say that's fair. Some people say the sea
and rap is silent. You know that's what I is
that right?
Speaker 4 (05:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (05:58):
Some people that aren't fans of rap music say the
sea assilent.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
You know.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
My favorite part of the game last night, the final
touchdown drive for the Detroit Lions. They just pounded the
football and just said, we're going to give it to
David Montgomery as many times as humanly possible. Oh, third
and long, we're gonna give it. We're going to run
the ball all fourth and short, We're going to run
the ball. The field goal and the personal foul call
(06:24):
on the field goal, they get the ball back and
they just grind it down. And that game was a rap.
And I'm calling it right now.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
That stole their soul.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
That division is a rap. The NFC North, No, No,
I don't know about that.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
There's way too much time. I mean, think about it
this way. The Vikings haven't played a divisional game, yeended.
I'm just saying like there's a lot of eyeball left
to play.
Speaker 4 (06:51):
I just I don't think we should count out Green Bay.
I really don't.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
I think young you should count out anyone. It's too
cround out Green Bay. Yeah, I don't. And they're wounded.
You know. Christian was just getting back, Aaron Jones was
just getting back.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
I mean, they were. It was limited contributions from them,
I thought. I thought Jordan Love actually under the circumstances,
you know, being under duress a little bit, you know,
dealing with you know, just I mean, they were, they
were pretty relentless upfront.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Detroit, well they've handled it.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
They didn't have Baktyari that was that didn't hurt them
for a while. They were banged up on the offensive line.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
So very true. But I'll say this though and that
and not win.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
While I felt like it was very impressive for the
Lions to play the way that they did. My my
question coming out of the game, based off of what
you just said, Jonas, if they get up against the
team that is stout against the run, and they will
get up against some teams that are stout against the run,
can they do it in the air? Can they can
they win it throwing the ball? And to me, that's
(07:57):
still that wasn't a question that was answered for me
last night because it didn't have to happen. Like Goff
made some good throws. Goff always is known to make
some good throws. You know, I think he can do
it in the air. But can he do it at
a high enough level where they can win games where
they're going to have to utilize passing the ball to win?
That was my like, I was impressed. I don't think.
(08:19):
I don't think I saw anything that I didn't expect
out of Detroit in this game.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
We said it in the show. We detailed it.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
They're going to come out and they're going to impose
their physical will against Green Bay.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
That's what we talked about.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
That was going to be the game play, and that's
exactly what they did.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
But if you get up against the team that.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
Can stand up and match what you're doing up front,
can they win it in the air?
Speaker 2 (08:42):
And I think that that was you know, impressed, very
impressed though.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
Yeah, they've proven in the past that they can do it.
You'd be hard pressed to find a quarterback that's playing
better football than Jared Goff since Week thirteen of last year.
I mean, people tend to forget what were they won
in seven at one point last year? Yeah, and then
they ripped off that tam of that string of wins,
and I mean.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
They should have belof t last year if the Seattle wins,
sure going into that final game like they had nothing
to play for and still whoop that ass in Green Bay.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Whoop that Yeah. I mean.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
But the greater point is that, like, I don't think
you can count anyone out or say it's a rap
right now. There's too much football left to be played,
and especially within the division, which you know ultimately you
may only get one team out of the out of
this division.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
So that's kind of why I say, like, this is
a tight division.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
You know, the Packers are now what two and two,
and it is that I don't think that was their
first division game?
Speaker 2 (09:33):
Was it first game?
Speaker 1 (09:37):
The first game they had to buy week So they're.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
One on one out of the division. The Vikings having
played a divisional game. You got the Lions not have
to go back and look at their divisional matchup. But
I just they're right now the most physical team up
front in that division, and I think that's what's winning
in the NFL. Like when you talk to NFL general managers,
they'll say, like, hey, man, if you got a quarterback
(10:03):
it's such a luxury because then you could do exactly
what Philly did, what San Francisco has done, Like look.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
At the formula.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
What have both of those teams done in the draft
for years? They should go draft first round defensive lineman.
I mean for real. That's how you build it up
to the point where like if you want to find
the quickness weakness to every single team, you go have
some maulers up front, and you just can't find good
enough lineman that can hold up enough.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
So even when you've.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
Got a quarterback doesn't matter if you don't have a
line to protect him. You're gonna be facing some of
the best teams to have these maulers up front, and
they'll get after it. So kudos to the Detroit Lions
and the way they've kind of started to build this
roster too. Obviously having a guy that Aiden Hutchson, you
saw his impact in last night's game. But that's the
formula right now. Man, you can build up those O
line D lines, you're gonna be consistently good.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
For a while. Now.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
There was a tale of two coaches, a lot of
different just a differing in moods following the game. Now
do you want to hear Dan Campbell talk very positively
or we can hear all right, So we'll hear Dan
Campbell first because then we've got a red ass on
the flip side of that. So let's listen to the
Lions head coach.
Speaker 6 (11:09):
That was outstanding. You know, that was that was a
fun one for the guys, and you know, I really
it was a total team effort, you know, And it's
easy to go through here, and it's actually not easy
to go through here and start picking out individual players.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
There's a ton of guys that played really well.
Speaker 6 (11:24):
But you know, I didn't realize this was that was
David Montgomery's first time to get a win against the Packers,
so that that's pretty impressive.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
And then and three touchdowns.
Speaker 6 (11:34):
First time that we've had a line drunning back that's
gotten that here at Lambo, So that's pretty impressive.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
So there it is just sticking a knife in the
heart of Bears fans, reminding him the David Montgomery had
never had a win against the Packers and goes into
lambeau Field as a member the Detroit Lion. So there
was that, And then there was Matt Lafleur, who was
not happy as he walked out of the tunnel to
start the second half because of the way the game started,
(12:00):
and so he was asked about it by local media
there in Green Bay. And this is how that interaction
took place.
Speaker 7 (12:07):
It happens when you have a to cause the first
half like that where you just you couldn't get enough.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Don't even got her ask kicked.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
I knew it wouldn't have happened. They didn't blit's until
the BS question.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Man, it's not happy at all. I mean, Lily just
asking a question and that.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
But but don't you.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
Think there's there's elements though of like I mean, now,
the decision they made years ago is confronting them, right,
Like they chose to draft the guy to replace Aaron
Rodgers and territory this comes with it, yeah, like like
this is the And by the way, other Green Bay
Packers front office executives and coaches have had to go
(12:58):
through this before because when they drafted the guy to
replace Brett Farv Aaron Rodgers, they also had to go
through this. And if you go back and look at
that first season, it was a difficult season for those
that made that decision to then buy into that decision
because it wasn't like they were a bunch of world beaters.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
They didn't make the playoffs. You know, Rogers played okay
that year.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
It was the next year where things yeah yeah, yeah,
And it was the next year where they really they
excelled and went and moved forward.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
So this is where they're at. It might be a
year where.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
Again you missed the playoffs, but this time with Jordan
Love and you again you hear those doubters and you
hear all that. They've just got to stay focused on
the long term, like getting finding a solution at left tackle.
And that's not to say David Bactierre is not the
solution and healthy, but he's almost never healthy anymore. You know,
they've got to find some pieces offensively to get this
(13:50):
team that's consistently play at a certain level. Like it
was great to see Aaron Jones back and Christian Watson back,
but those this is the first time being to come back.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
So I just that's where they're at right now.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
The Packers, they're not in rebuild mode, but they're trying
to re kind of shape how this team's going to
operate and move forward with Jordan Love as their quarterback
in order to win in an nf NFC North title,
and you know it might it might take another year.
Like it's not gonna be able to happen right now
right away, given at least what we watched last night.
Speaker 4 (14:23):
I don't know that they're not in rebuilt mode. They
might have they might not have a choice but to
be in rebuilt mode. I think it's going to It's
too early to say if they where they are to
me technically, but it could play out where they go up.
They start trending up and they had the talent to
do so, but it could also trend down. And I'm
(14:46):
not I'm not certain if Watson can get healthy and
can establish himself as that you know, that number one,
like that true weapon that that Jordan Love.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
Can depend on.
Speaker 4 (15:00):
If Aaron Jones can can stay healthy, what's the I'm
not certain what's going on with Dylan's what's the deal
with Dylan. I'm not sure about that situation. Is he
still hurt or is he like is he not a
part of the rotation anymore? I don't But for me,
if if I don't see some of the stars that
we've come to know, do some of the things that
(15:22):
they need to do in order for this team to
take a definitive step forward from from the loss of
Aaron Rodgers at the quarterback's position. I don't know that
they're not in a rebuilt state.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
I mean, Romeo Dobbs has played well. Like him and
Jordan Love have a certain little.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
I like Dobbs. But do y'all look at Dobbs as
a number one.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
No, But I think it's developing. I just I look
at it and I go. They were not a playoff
team last year with Aaron Rodgers. It's going to take time.
I mean for Packers fans if the expectation was what
we expect to be in the postseason this year and say, okay, well,
then that's not being realistic and on the box t stuff.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
And I'm not I'm not basing I'm not basing saying
rebuild off of if they make the playoffs this year,
it's a daunting task. I don't care if you're Peyton
Manning and your or Tom Brady and you're replacing Aaron Rodgers,
that's a daunting task for anyone. If you're Brady Quinn,
that's a daunting task anyone to almost cursed almost made
(16:23):
me curse and mekout. You're asking me it's a very
daunting task to have to do that, and then not
to mention that there's the whole legacy of what the
quarterback position has represented in Green Bay. So it's I
think that he's I think he's handled it very well.
But I still I'm not basing it off of making
(16:45):
the playoffs this year. I'm basing it off of can
these guys develop into what we've seen from a Jordy
Nelson or a Greg Jennings or you know, a Jones?
Can can they can we see what you know? Does
somebody look like green or like I need to see
the offensive line look look better. I need to see
(17:06):
those things before I say they're not rebuilding.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
Well, I think again, they've got a rash of injuries
coming into it. If you saw the injury report, you
know bock Tiaria was going to be out, Jingins was
on the injury report, Zach Tom and the injury I mean,
there was a bunch of guys banged.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
Up, and we didn't really know Whattington were limited. Watson.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
Yeah, they ended up playing though, But uh, but Dylan
A J. Dillon your point, he's fully healthy. He just
he's not been able to provide them the burst I
think that they were hoping for out of the backfield.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
I mean, there's there's nothing wrong with it.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
I think there was some trade rumblings with him as
well too before the season.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
Yeah, there's some stuff out there.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
So maybe's and.
Speaker 3 (17:42):
These It's interesting because it always goes back to here's
a second round pick. Remember, and these were the sorts
of decisions that the front office made when remember we
were clamoring for them the draft a wide receiver, I mean,
and this was one of the picks they went with
instead of, believe in the twenty twenty draft. Like when
you go back and look through the front office decisions
(18:03):
of the Green Bay Packers in those drafts and where
they could have been spending some of those picks in
that draft capital, it's pretty telling. Man, Like I would
say Rogers actually helped make up for some of their
I don't want to say misses, but I'll say some
of the decisions of pieces that really they either didn't
(18:24):
need or didn't need as badly as other spots. And
this is again going back to the initial point a
couple moments ago. This is what happens when you move
on from a future Hall of Famer and this and
they made made these decisions.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
They made this bed. They've got to lay in it now.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
And you're watching other teams like the Detroit Lions, who
I think have been more focused on how they've built
their their fronts on each side of the ball. Moved
past you right now in the division, and that's going
to happen. But they they've got to really, I think,
look inside themselves and look into this next draft and
free agency and figure out, you know, what their needs are.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
I don't I personally don't feel like it's a rebuild.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
I think they've got they've got to reshape what this
roster looks like with Jordan Love.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
Now moving forward, it's two pros and a cup of
Joe here on Fox Sports Radio, LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn,
Jonas Knox with you. So we are going to have
the usuals coming up later on. We've got in case
you missed it, later this hour, our two of the program,
we're going to bounce around college football, starring Brady Quinn.
So we're going to take a look at all that
fun stuff coming up here this weekend in the world
of the CFB. And we're going to have our picks
(19:26):
against the spread. Albert Breer is going to stop by
an hour two. We've got you into you out. It's
jam packed, it's all yours, a three hour edition here,
and it's extravaganza on a Friday morning here on Fox
Sports Radio. But we do have some optimism, some optimism
from some place in the NFL that hasn't seen a
(19:46):
win yet, and we'll tell you who that is next.
Speaker 8 (19:49):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
Man all right, working all night.
Speaker 9 (20:09):
Let it.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
Man. Nothing kills the upward momentum of a show on
a Friday morning like this garbage.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
Let it whip so right, we're both right ahead. I
hate that song.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
Good to see Sam. Sam found Mark's playlist. It is
two Pros and a Couple here on Fox Sports Radio.
It's Varrton Rady Quit, Jonas Knocks of the air by
the way coming up, and we will call it I
don't know, let's call it like less than twenty minutes
(20:46):
from now, there's an NFL player who's being punished, but
it's actually one of the great punishments of all time
because he's actually being rewarded inside this punishment. So we
will get into that for you here coming up again
lesson towny minutes from now from the ti raq dot
Com studios. So look, I'm not trying to piss off
anybody listening on Kfan the Yalla Horn of the Twin
(21:09):
Cities that are listening in Minneapolis. But as I said,
I think the division's over with. I think the Lions
are going to win this division going away, and I'm
gonna call it right now. I think Detroit wins it
by a minimum of two games. They're gonna run away.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
You always have some awful takes.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
I mean, by the way, that's fine season because you
know what, I'll go back in and I'll scrub it
from the podcast and it never happened. So it's just
easy to figure out and easy to sort through. But
justin Jefferson, who just so happens to be playing a
game this weekend as in Minnesota Viking against the Carolina Panthers.
Who and by the way, who's doing the color call
(21:45):
on that on that game for Fox? Who is that?
Speaker 2 (21:47):
I don't know Jonas? Who's doing with Jonas? Oh?
Speaker 1 (21:49):
That tries Brady Quinn. It's Brady Quinn. Double up? Yeah,
well double time watching. Damn right? Sound one's vics.
Speaker 2 (22:02):
Out so good? Dah right.
Speaker 4 (22:04):
I will be texting you all, gave day outd team go.
I'm gonna leave you voice messages too, but put your
phone now.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
Justin Jefferson, Justin Jefferson did share some optimism about where
the Vikings stand as they head into this Week four
matchup pitting some winless teams against each other, Carolina and Minnesota.
Speaker 9 (22:30):
At the end of the day, you know, it's not
going to be perfect every time. You know, it's things
that you got to go through throughout the season, uh,
to really tell if you're going to be a great
team or not. Of course, we're handling the adversity earlier
in the season, you know, with the turnovers and being
O and three to start, But there's a whole many,
a whole bunch of more games to go. I mean,
(22:52):
I'm tired of people saying, you know, we're looking at
the next season, or you know, all of the trades
and stuff like that we're focused still on this season,
and we have a lot more games to go and
we have a lot more things to accomplish this season.
So I mean we're still focused in we still have
that same goal as we had before the season, and
we just need to fix a few things and I
feel like we will be back on track.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
So there's your guy, Justin Jefferson sharing some optimism.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
Look from being a practice yesterday, I've been a part
of some teams that have been zero to three to
start a season. You know, it didn't feel like that.
It didn't feel like they hadn't got their first win yet.
And I think there's a strong belief in what this
team's capable of because they proved the last thirteen games.
And look, this is how life works sometimes, and people
(23:39):
are probably.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
Gonna, you know, hate me saying this, but it's.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
A funny shape ball, man, Like football is a funny
shape ball, and sometimes that thing bounces your way. Sometimes
it doesn't. Last year, this team, in one score game
was eleven to zero. So far, this team has played
three one score games, they're zero and three. Like, if
you looked back at last season, and I think there's
a lot of people who feel this way, especially the
professional sports betters, would say, like, man, last season just
(24:03):
doesn't happen every year, Like there's just not a team
that's always going to be in those tight games in
those situations, have something always work out their own way,
Like so far this year, I think they've lost every
single fumble, Like they've got seven fumbles on offense, Like
how do you lose every single one? But it's not
like one where the ball bounces back to your roles
back like every single one. I mean, it's it's just
(24:26):
incredible when you think and you go through the last
three weeks and the things that have happened in each game.
It could be a call here, call there. When you
play those tight games that make the difference. And so
if you look at this team, they've got the leading
passer in the league right now and Kirk Cousins. They
have the leading receiver in Justin Jefferson, Daniel Hunter's second
in sacks, Like, they've got the ability to win games,
(24:49):
to create mismatches, to do all that.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
It just has not come together through their first three weeks.
Speaker 3 (24:55):
And I would say this too, if you looked at
the fronts of the first three teams, they've played like
Tampa can stopped to run and get after him. Philly
is is good of a defense next to San Franz,
you're gonna find. And then they play the Chargers and unfortunately,
like the tackle play wasn't great last week, and it
happened to come at a time where you got Joey
Boss and Kleil Mack and yet they were still right
(25:15):
there in that game in the end. So it's it's
one of those deals where I don't think they're hitting
the panic button by any means. I know this rumors
about Kirk Cousins maybe being dealt to the Jets and
all that, we can talk about that. There's a reason
I think, and I've said earlier this week, why I
don't think the Jets are doing much behind Zach Wilson,
and we could talk about it, but I think this
(25:37):
team knows what they have, Like Justin Jefferson is maybe
the best receiver in the league, and so they're not
like trading these assets away to start all over again.
I think they look at it and say like we've
got some pieces. We just got to get this thing
back on track this year, and then we can worry
about next year. When it comes, cause I still think
they're all in this year with the way things are
(25:58):
set up with Cousins right now, his content and everything
else in the roster.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
Because what's a quessia dopamensa the GM he calls what
a competitive rebuild? Like that is that kind of the
terminology he's using, So.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
You could kind of put it that way.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
I mean, again, Cracy, like from talking with them, I
think they feel like again they've got they want to
get through like this year with what they have, and
then you could start looking at how they're going to
kind of rebuild this but they've got too many pieces
in the second there, there's too many pieces I think
they feel good about on offense, young pieces. I mean,
(26:30):
Jordan Addison's a really fun receiver to watch and he's
kind of still coming into his own. They just they
just trade it for cam Akers, Like it is odd
to hear those thoughts of oh, they might be sellers
because they're h in three before the trade. Thenline, I'm like, dude,
they just brought in a running back, Like, I mean,
I don't know that that's the case. I think if anything,
they want to make sure that you give this season
(26:52):
a good run to see what they're capable of.
Speaker 4 (26:56):
I mean, they've been competitive, like like, like we said,
they won a lot of games. You know, they won
the North last.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
Year, but they haven't been they haven't been what.
Speaker 4 (27:08):
They needed to be in the playoffs, right, I don't
look at them as being a team that has been
super competitive in the playoffs. They've always come up short.
So I don't I really don't know what they're rebuilding.
They haven't built a champion so much. I guess they
I guess they won the division, so I guess you
could call them champs, but I just don't feel like
(27:30):
they've at this point been a team that I look
at as being overly competitive to go to the super Bowl.
I think they've been good, but I don't think that
I've looked at them as being at that level.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
So I don't even know that.
Speaker 4 (27:44):
It should be considered to be a rebuilt because they're
still trying to build. It's still a building process to
try to figure out if they can take this team
from being a team that's good enough to win the
NFC nor to a team that can act win the NFC.
And so to me is that, you know, I think
(28:05):
they're further away from that. I like the Acres addition,
I don't. I don't like that they lost Darius Smith.
I think that that that. I think he makes every
team better that he's on. I don't like the fact
that Dalvin Cook was gone. I thought that he was
a tremendous safety valve when healthy for Kirk Cousins in
(28:25):
this offense, I don't know if cam Akers will make that,
you know, even that out balance that out love Justin Jefferson,
I mean, obviously one of the top guys in the league.
But I just don't when I look at this team,
I don't look at them as having an elite defense
at this point, and I look at their offense and say,
(28:47):
can they be an elite offense?
Speaker 2 (28:49):
I don't know that they can be an elite offense.
Speaker 4 (28:52):
I think they've done things very well, but have they
shown us that they can be an elite enough offense
where they can be competitive and when and challenging for
the NFC. So I guess if we're looking at it from,
what are we basing what they are off of? Are
they Are we looking at success as them winning the
NFC North? Are we looking because they're not the favorites
(29:13):
to do that this year.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
No, but how far are we in the league right now?
Speaker 3 (29:20):
Look again, I think when you get in the playoffs,
I think everyone's got a shot. And you know, this
team isn't isn't there yet to be thinking about that.
They just need to get back on top of the division,
taking like one step at a time.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
But they've had their moments.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
So you know, that win versus New Orleans I think
was kind of a step in that right direction, at
least for Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
It was. You know, the hard thing I think for
the bigger picture.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
Of Kirk Cousins and how it fits into the Minnesota
Vikings is you know, they've never been able to get
back to the NFC Championship Game, and they did that
the year before he got there, and they did that
with case Keenum And I think the thought was when
you brought him in, he was going to be the
missing piece to be able to get you not only
to the NFC Championship Game, but to a Super Bowl.
And that's never presented itself. And I think in large
(30:04):
part because honestly, you know, the defense kind of fell
by the wayside, Like when Kirk Cousins got there. It
was really weird to see. But the defense subtly just
started to decline. It became, you know, it wasn't as
good on third down, and that was like what Mike
Zimmer's calling card was. I remember back when he was
with the Bengals and I was playing with the Browns.
Like you always knew you had to deal with Mike Zimmers.
(30:24):
You know, Botz schemes on third down. It was a
headache every flip in week. You'd have to go to
a seven man protection only have three guys out in
the routes, because that was the only way you could
assure yourself you'd be able to at least pick everyone
up and give yourself a chance to throw it from
a clean pocket or supposedly a clean pocket. So that
subtle decline I think is flown under the radar. Now
(30:45):
that obviously they moved on from coach Zimmer. They brought
in Kevin O'Connell and then you see what they do
year one thirteen wins and now you're like, okay, but
it's the defensive side they need to get back on track.
I do think, you know, Brian Flores will bring them
to that, like the stuff he does is unique. It's
different talking with him yesterday, Like if you go back
and watch their week two game versus what they did
(31:06):
week one, week three, I mean it was like stuff
you see in college and and like and I kind
of said that, like, they have the ability to be
very versatile in what they do, and it's kind of
cool to go out there and see week to week,
like what is game plans going to be for their opponent?
Speaker 1 (31:20):
Well, there is a bright spot in Minneapolis because in

Speaker 7 (34:04):
In case you missed it, I got an update.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
On pac Man Jones here for you.
Speaker 7 (34:08):
He appeared at the Boone County Boone County District Court
on Thursday for hearing and asked for them to lift
the ban from Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport. Well, that
was not granted. He is still banned from the airport
after being arrested on September eleventh. He's facing one count
each of terroristic threatening, disorderly conduct and alcoholic intoxication if
you do remember. So that is the latest update on
(34:31):
pac Man Jones.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
Now what a bommer. You can't go to the airport?
Speaker 2 (34:33):
Hey Lee?
Speaker 1 (34:34):
Hey ready?
Speaker 2 (34:37):
Can we go back through what the charges were one
more time?
Speaker 7 (34:41):
It was one count each of terroristic threatening, disorderly conduct
and alcoholic intoxication in a public place.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
And that was the media.
Speaker 3 (34:49):
First off, First off, we've seen plenty of drunk people
in public places.
Speaker 2 (34:54):
That's a bit unfair. But now I see drunk people
all the time.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
I see drunk people.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
Than in the mirror. And you ate lion, Lee, and
you ate lying buddy the drag bottles?
Speaker 1 (35:08):
Can we get around of applause? Some self analysis?
Speaker 2 (35:14):
Well done?
Speaker 3 (35:20):
I mean, and the first charge is ridiculous, I mean,
it really is ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
I just I feel for him, man.
Speaker 3 (35:31):
I didn't feel like he was doing anything wrong in
that circumstance. And the problem is now they're hurting him
from a business standpoint for him being able to travel
out obviously and go work different shows and stuff like
he's supposed to do. I hope someone starts like a
free pac Man T shirt or something.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
Now, do you what's the closest airport? Is it Louisville?
Next to uh, next to Cincinnati? What's the next one?
Speaker 3 (35:54):
It's Cincinnati. The next closest is Columbus is two hours away.
Lexington's probably an hour away, Like, Lexington's probably close.
Speaker 1 (36:03):
Maybe that's what I flew into last year.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
He got it, he got a taken.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Yeah, Breeders Cup. Yeah. But there was some options that
were thrown out there. Cincinnati was one of them. And uh,
and so we went to Lexington. Well listen, I mean, uh,
you know, no, wait a dust that boy?
Speaker 9 (36:30):
You men?
Speaker 2 (36:31):
Oh no, he can't fly, he can't fly out of sense.
Speaker 1 (36:36):
Yeah, yeah, well listen, Uh, hopefully it'll get sorted out.
Terroristic threats. What did he do?
Speaker 2 (36:43):
Stupid as that?
Speaker 1 (36:44):
By the way, Alden Smith was at l a X
and told authorities there because he was hammered that he
had a that he had a bomb on him. That's
a terroristic thread like pac Man Jones got the terrorist
pack Man Joan not being able to plug his phone
in on a seat is not a terroristic threat like it,
(37:06):
it makes it, he says.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
Man.
Speaker 3 (37:08):
And by the way, you took away a customer that
was buying two seats when he'd fly on your I
mean he bought two seats. That's a good customer. You
thought he would have gotten better customer service. That was
not the case.
Speaker 4 (37:19):
You will, I'm not going to touch this because yeah,
just don't get hostile. That's correct, That's correct. Disagreeing its hostility,
you know, wanting wanting a certain level of service is hostility.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
You know. So it's interesting.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
What I gonna be honest with you. I'm kind of
on Delta side in that situation.
Speaker 2 (37:44):
Was it delicate? Delta? De No?
Speaker 1 (37:47):
Your issue is with Delta, wasn't it?
Speaker 2 (37:50):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (37:50):
That was And all I was just talking about customer service,
like you know that threat that that story is that
real is still going so stupid people are so dumb
sometimes some dumb ass people. What do you mean that
real is still going dumb asses? The real of me
doing on the customer service call. Yeah, yeah, it's still
(38:12):
going like there's still like it's still viral.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
It's like it's like crazy, didn't you post it?
Speaker 1 (38:21):
Yeah, viral bar.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
But the usually they usually they usually slow down by now.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
No, I'm not gonna take it down. I'm gonna leave
it up. Yeah, I'm gona leave it up.
Speaker 4 (38:31):
But people are still like interacting with it, so dumb
move on.
Speaker 2 (38:37):
People. Algorithm but whatever.
Speaker 4 (38:41):
It is, it probably is, but but they're still like,
I don't know, there's a lot of people on it
for no reason.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
Whatever. Anyways, good luck, good luck to pac Man, you know,
good luck to that.
Speaker 1 (38:55):
And I'm good here and good hearing from pac Man
here on the show.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
That sted it off.
Speaker 6 (39:00):
Yeah, rat Hey pregnant
