Speaker 1 (00:00):
Two pros and a cup of Joe. Fox Sports Radio,
Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here and coming up
on this Football Friday, where is everybody? We need explanations.
We got to find out what is going on here,
LeVar two. We will get into all the details of
the whereabouts of Stick City here on this Football Friday.
That'll be yours here on FSR. We're also going to

(00:20):
have a conversation about Listen, the NBA does it every time.
It's the roller coaster, big night for the Knicks, but
we all anticipate and expect that the Pacers are going
to get it done in game six. We're also going
to talk about the latest when it comes to news
and notes from around the NFL. We've got our topic roundup.
Tyreek Hill apparently wants to stay put. We've got big

(00:42):
noon kickoff and its schedule, and apparently fan basers are
pissed off of the wrong people during the whole mix
of conversation when it comes to college football. And we've
got another edition of In case you missed it, Plus
we've got Breeze leftovers. It's all yours coming up next here,
Two pros and a cup of Joe on a football
Friday Fox Sports Radio. Ola. Oh, it is two Pros

(01:04):
and a cup of Joe here on Fox Sports Radio.
And I know what you're thinking. There's well, listen, we
don't need to a name called this early in the show.
But there's a lot of people that are thinking there's
no possible way that LaVar Arrington would miss today's show
after the ball busting display that he put on yesterday.

(01:29):
For the fact that they are missing today's.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Show, Oh man, but.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
How wrong are you? Because there is no LaVar Arrington
today and instead it'll be Brady Quinn and I taking
you all the way up until nine am Eastern time,
six o'clock Pacific. He is b Q, I'm Jonas Knox,
and this is two Pros and a Cup of Joe
here on Fox Sports Radio. And away we go, very ironic.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Thank you for pointing out something that we waste an
entire segment yesterday talking about this that Lee and Loraina
are going on and how LeVar didn't know about it
and he wasn't taking the day off everything that went
along with it. We told him, we're perfectly fouled and
taking it off. Here's the problem. You can't complain and

(02:15):
basically bitch and moan that you're not taking it off,
and then come to find out in the last minute
you actually do take it off after chastising everyone else
for taking that day off. Yeah, I'm sorry. Yeah, you
have to get called out for that.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
That was a that was a wild ride that we
were taking on yesterday. We went to a LaVar in order.
He took a lead a court Loraine at a court
found out they are, you know, going to Vancouver and
to be a part of the meet and greet with
the Malar militia and then LaVar lo and behold, it

(02:48):
turns out he's not going to be with us. So
there's so there's that off and running here on this
Friday morning. And I don't know about you, but I
was thinking about this when it came to the game
last night. I really wish the NBA wasn't so predictable.
Maybe that's what bothers me, because it just felt like, Okay,

(03:11):
the Knicks are gonna, you know, find something, They're gonna
they're gonna, you know, survive to to advance to another game.
They're gonna do it for the home crowd, and ultimately
it feels like everybody kind of knows how this whole
thing's gonna end. I just I didn't. I didn't see
last night as a repeatable performance when it came to
how lacklust the Pacers were, especially their starters.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
I just can't see that happening again.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
I'm sorry. The the only thing I can speak to.
And I don't think this is the prerogative of any
team in a series, all right. I think you win
when you can win. However, there is an extreme home
field advantage when you are at home, especially in the playoffs,
so I do think it's harder for the team, even
th that's ahead in the series, to find a way
of doing so. So I mean, look, if you could

(03:56):
have your druthers and you could win at home in
the playoffs to advance, that's what you'd rather do. I mean,
I've only been a part of it once in my lifetime,
when were the Denver Broncos. We won in a wildcard
game at home. That game the way it ended, the way,
the way we want it. I mean, I could only
imagine how it would have been on the road. It

(04:18):
would have been silent in Pittsburgh. It would have been
so silent and quiet besides our sidelines and our players
and teammates and coaches cheering. That's it. That's all would
have been. I can't imagine for a wildcard playoff game,
you would have had many Denver fans who would make
their way into Pittsburgh to go be a part of that. So,

(04:40):
you know, winning at home all the memories that I
have from the celebration of the fans, the players advancing
to the division round, like what that felt like. It
was unbelievable. But it would have felt entirely different if
it was on the road. So I don't know that.
I don't know that players are in their back of
the mind saying if we're gonna win a series, let's

(05:03):
just push it so we can go win at home.
I mean, I think you win when you can win.
You know, you don't want to give any team any
opportunity to build momentum. I mean, there was for a
minute I thought, maybe, you know, Caroline was gonna come
back on on the Florida Panthers. Didn't end up happening,
but it looked like it early in that last game
before Florida ended up clinching, because I thought, oh no,

(05:24):
this is where a team gains momentum, maybe maybe it
becomes more of a series. In this case, same thing
with the Knicks. This has been kind of a back
and forth series. You can make the case, and I
don't want to think that anyone wants to allow the
Knicks to hang around this thing the way Brunton played
last night, the way you know our sassy passer, you know,
Oh yeah, kar Anthony Town's got into it last night.

(05:45):
Big Cat was big last night. But I think you
get my point, Like, if you're the Pacers, it does
work out a little bit better if you clinch while
you're at home to be in that environment, that arena
to celebrate with all your fans too.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Yeah, it is. That is kind of a fun, fun
place to do it. And then one of the things
you mentioned yesterday when you were talking to your brother
in law about listen, you know in the NHL, uh
you know you're down two zero in a series? Are
you worriors?

Speaker 2 (06:11):
Long series?

Speaker 1 (06:13):
What about three to oh no, whatever?

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Long series? We'll get them very dismissive long series.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
So I don't know, I don't know if that is
as applicable because we've seen, you know, teams come back
from three to oh and do it in the Stanley
Cup playoffs. We've never seen it in the NBA, but
we've seen teams come back from three to one, and
I don't know if if that's the same in the NBA,
but there's got to be something too. Those players know

(06:39):
based on the energy just from being on the court,
Like the Pacers didn't seem all that concerned or worried
about it. They just didn't. It was like whatever, Like
they almost like they have a better read on the
vibe and exactly how things are going out there than
anybody else would. And because of that, they know when

(06:59):
to worry and went not to worry, which you know,
to me, I just look at it and they go,
this thing's going to get wrapped up on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
Yeah, it feels like that. I do think the Pacers
are the better team. But again all credit the Jalen
Brentson last night, he was phenomenal. Do you want me
to do you want to do an impression? Real quick?
Do you want to do this? You want to do this?
You know, Jonas. What it came down for me was
really the difference in the Pacers and the Knicks. And
what's surprising is the Pacers actually shot better from the field.

(07:31):
They were thirty of seventy four and ten of thirty
from three point to the Knicks who were eight of
twenty nine and forty four of eighty nine. So they
made more field goals and twos, just not as many
threes the Knicks did. And then I thought, you know,
if you looked at the free throw percentage, you had

(07:54):
the Knicks at fifteen, and then you've got the Pacers
who had actually had more free throws, so that any
sense box scores, yes, I mean sorry box score reading now.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
The one of the one of the interesting little back
and forth post game was Pascal Siakam of the Indiana Pacers.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
Who had a uh.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
He was the best starter on the floor if we
do want to go to the box score around. In fact,
he was the only one in double digits, which I
think speaks volumes about how lackluster things were for the
starting five for Indiana. But uh, he did have an
interesting little back and forth. Greg Doyle who's covered UH
sports in Indianapolis by the Greg Doyle is the guy

(08:44):
who had the weird, kind of awkward back and forth
with Caitlin Clark when she first got there and then
I guess he got banned from covering Indiana Fever games. Uh,
he's had kind of an interesting run there, a little
bit of a hothead.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Here was the back and forth Pascal Siakam, Well, no,
he was trying to explain to Greg Doyle just the
emotions of the Pacers going into it. We don't have
no just the just the passcal Siakam, Yeah, just the
We just want to hear the Pascal Siakam here. Yeah,
we're just looking for that if we could. Yeah, well

(09:19):
we were efforting.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
Okay, well Vampa BT. But to your point though about
the situation with the Pacers and whether or not they
looked like they wanted to win it, I don't know
that anything looked overly different based on the amount of
minutes the bench played, but it did feel like, I
don't know, again, not a concentrated effort to not win.
But if they are going to win, game six is

(09:42):
where you'd like to And this is also where if
you are a conspiracy theorist type. Look, clearly, the league
wants these things to go six seven games, of course,
and by the way, the TV networks, just so people
understand at home or listening. In order for you to
start making money on a series, it has to go six.
You have to go six six game. If you go four,
you lose. If you go five, you're hopefully break it.

(10:03):
Even six is where you can start thinking about making
a little money and then hopefully seven for sure like
sevens perfect scenario. That's why TV networks want to have
the playoffs and buy that or put that money into it,
because that's where they can get the payout from a
lot of these series. If it goes four, they're losing
their ass, and so it doesn't obviously the you know
New York Knicks a huge city, number one market that matters,

(10:27):
but you know, Knicks Pacers Eastern Conference Finals, it's still
pretty big. The viewership is going to be pretty significant regardless,
but having the Knicks as a part of it, you're
want to milk that for as long as you can
because it looks like it's not going to be the
Nicks in the NBA Finals, and so you're not going
to get that number one market, that huge Knicks fan
base that's willing to fly to the Midwest and watch
their Knicks get their ass kicked by the Pacers. They're

(10:50):
in Indianapolis. So you're not gonna get any of that.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
Yeah, I mean, it's it is unfortunate, and we have
to suffer through the Knick fan Like the celebrity Knicks fans.
I would love to know the real knowledge that they
have of this team, because you've got Timothy Champagne and
one of the Kardashians running around like, all of a sudden,
they're the you know, the new super fans of the team.

(11:13):
It's like, all right, okay, dude, like how many like
how many games did you go to during Ben Stiller?

Speaker 2 (11:20):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (11:20):
Then Ben Stiller's there like every like, can't we just
go back to the good old days where Tracy Morgan
is blowing chunks on the court, Like, can we just
go back to that? Can't we go back to the
good old days when James Dolan was kicking out you know,
former Charles Lakeley can't even be in the arena, he's
being assaulted by security guards. Remember the good old days
when James Dolan needed to sell the team because he

(11:42):
didn't know what the hell he's doing. And now it's
all everybody's you know, all gathered in. Everybody's all of
a sudden, the Knicks fan. It just it's a bit
obnoxious for me. So I'm hoping that we don't have
to sit through it again at Madison Square Garden because
to me, we know how this is gonna go. All right,
this is going to go the way Knicks fans know
it's going to go, and this whole bad boy is

(12:03):
getting wrapped up Game six there in Indiana.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
No, I think for the sake of like NBA fans,
I hope we go seven. I really do. I ultimately
think the Pacers will win it. But for the drama
of it, for the sake of our show, for all involved,
I'd rather go seven. I mean, if we're being real
about it. But uh, like I said, I don't think
it's going to I think the Pacers are the better team.
Last night, the Knicks got the best of them. We
went through the box score stats as you heard a

(12:27):
moment ago. So I mean someone had to do it today,
right yea, you know, we've got somebody to step up
and read the box school there.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
There are there are certain things that have to be done.
We've got to check off the list. So we will
chose to prove that they didn't.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Watch and just wanted to read.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
The box score, you mentioned Karl Anthony Towns, the old
sassy passer. Uh. He did speak after the game though,
and talked about just sort of Jalen Brunson's performance and
their performance overall.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
He was cooking, That's what I was. So I saw
him cooking, just you know, when he's playing like that
and he's heading sets obviously energizes everyone. But do you understand,
you know, especially when you're getting points at that kind.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Of rate, you got to stop.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
You got to get some stops, and you know, you
know everyone to you know, be trading twos with twos,
threes and threes. You know, you want to be able
to get some stops while you know Cap is on
that kind.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Of sorry there, you know, when he's on burner.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
So we did a great job of just executing and
holding them to twenty three points in the first quarter
or something.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
That we did not do well in the last game.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
Again, that's meant to these guys, you know, after a
tough for last game, you know, coming back to the
to the drawing board and understanding the situation.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
And playing with that desperation.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
I do like how Shaquille O'Neil and Charles Barkley post
game because Kat came out on the floor and sat
with him. Because man for as great of a show
and is respected as a show as the TNT crew is.
Have you seen where they've had them located at Madison
Square Garden? Like they're up literally next to the roof,

(14:00):
and Charles Parkley's like I could touch God, Like literally,
you cannot get any higher. The only higher you can
get is on top of the roof. They're literally up
there at the roof trying to figure this whole thing out.
So it was nicer them to at least give them
a couple of floor chairs to interview Carl Anthony Towns
after the fact.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
But I think I've only been Have you been to
Madison Square Garden?

Speaker 1 (14:23):
No?

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Oh, it's an incredible venue. So I've been there, I
think maybe twice. The one time obviously that sticks out,
was when Tom'sabkowski fought a boxing match there, and so
we all drove from South Bend to New York and
we went for the fight. We got to see all
kinds of stuff, you know, beforehand, I think I told
you who they were. Caesar Chavez Senior was down in

(14:46):
the tunnel underneath and we kind of had all lined
up for Tommy's He's getting ready to come out, and
one of our defensive linemen kept asking him a bunch
him in the stomach, And so his son was fighting
on one of the cards after us, and he finally
came over, and you know, there's a bit of a
language barrier there, but we figured it out, and he
took his hand. It was like an open hand, so

(15:09):
not like a fist, like open hands, so like with
the tips of his fingers kind of gave him like
a quick like almost like a hook to his like
stomach or like his gut. And I remember our d
lineman like took it and stood there and kind of
like grinned, and then he just dropped like literally whatever
he did caused him to drop to the floor. And

(15:29):
at that point in time, I have no idea how
what he was. He had to have been sixty, I mean,
is that that sounds about right. Maybe I'm not sure
how what he is now, but probably sixty ish and
absolutely dropped a three hundred pound defensive lineman like it
was nothing.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
And by the way, reportedly never met a substance he
didn't like to smell.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
I'm just saying Okay, well that that wasn't part of
what we were doing, but we were. We were hammered
at Madison Square Garden watching that celebrate in Zibby's victory.
By the way, but there's not many venues or like
areas in the in the arena from what I can remember,
where you really could have put up a stage like that.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
So I'm looking at the Do you remember the year,
because I know that it was June sixth, but I'm
trying to find the exact year because I actually found
the fight card it was. Was it his pro debut?
I think it was it been I'm talking about Tom Zabkowski. Yeah,
against against the guy, against the guy by the name

(16:27):
of Robert Bell. Uh he did win. Also on that card,
damn man, you had. This is a good card to
go to.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
I know Paul maul Ashley was on.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
He fought Miguel Coto, Bobby Pakiaou bought Kevin Kelly John.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
De which Bobby pak is the long cousin of you
know many Pacio.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
Tried and then uh, hey, you know what, we'll clean
it up in the podcast. I mean, why not, We'll
figure that out. And then also, uh, Julio Caesar Chaves Junior,
as you mentioned, did fight Aaron Drake in that one.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Yeah, that's a good card. That was a really good
fight too. But like I said, we were all pretty bombed.
I mean, there's a lot of name fans there. We
were just really excited for Tommy. The funny thing about
that fight, I believe he was supposed to fight another guy,
and I think there's something happened before in his training
where he got hurt or he couldn't do it. So

(17:21):
they found another guy with like three weeks to go.
I don't know whether or not because we had just
lost to Ohio State the Fiesta Bowl. I don't know
if that guy, this guy was even an Ohio State
fan or not. But for the antics of the fight,
they threw some all highest stage shorts on him and
he was now like as soon as he entered that ring,
it became like a rematch of the Fiesta Bowl, which
was great.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
And the best part about boxing events is if you
get there early enough, you get those four rounders like
those where you know it'll gradually grow as far as
the length of the fight, but you get those four
round heaters and guys are looking to make a name
for themselves and they're just swinging for the fences. They're
trying to end somebody's life.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
In the ring.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
Well that's going.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
It was awesome, man. We had a great time. Went
out afterwards. Yeah, yeah, we had a really good time.

Speaker 1 (18:08):
Well listen, that good time was also had last night
by the by the New York Knicks and their fans.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
But that's what we're missing out on. We're missing on
the potential of celebrations like that from the New York
Knicks unless they unless they can win in seven we'll.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
See, yeah, probably not, but hey, listen, we can We
can only hope for the best. Now, speaking of hoping
for the best, here on this show, I know what
you're thinking. Listen, no Lee, no Lorraina, no LeVar must
be an l thing who knows, But it is Brady
Quinn and I and we are sitting here on this

(18:44):
Friday morning here at Fox Sports Radio, and we did
want to point out that it also, regardless of who's here,
is still a football Friday. And that's right, it's still
damn football Friday.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
Come on, I mean, even though we started off with
NBA talk, that's right, it's still football for Oh yeah,
come on, I mean, even though we box score red
for a little bit, it's still that's football Friday. That's right.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
Sometimes you gotta have a you gotta have a crummy
appetizer in order to get to the goods, you know what.
I feel like we just got through that. Come on,
j comes over and you're still work that.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
Nope?

Speaker 1 (19:21):
Yeah, come on, come on?

Speaker 2 (19:23):
Where's Var? Where's LeVar?

Speaker 1 (19:26):
Where's the graduation?

Speaker 2 (19:27):
Probably graduation? I mean the call came in late, so
you know we're trying to figure that out.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
Man, those graduation to go late? Man, all right, you
know it's time though, come on, come on, Brady.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
No, this isn't my version, and I don't I don't
get I don't get down here.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
If this is the original, no it doesn't matter. It
is a football Friday. Here on two Pros and a
cup of Joe Here on Fox Sports Radio, Brady Quinn,
Jonas Knox with you. We are going to take you
again all the way up until nine am Eastern time,
six o'clock Pacific. We will have the usuals coming up
later on. We do have another edition of in case
you missed it, lead to lapsot here breeze here though,

(20:04):
we are going to have breeze leftovers. We've got a
top of ground up we're going to talk about as
well too. All of that is yours here on this
three hour extravaganza. Up next here though apparently somebody is
having some real self awareness. We've got real self awareness
in the NFL. You'll hear why that's yours here on FSR.

Speaker 4 (20:24):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Arrington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe, Fox Sports Radio,
Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here. Coming up a
little over fifteen minutes from now, somebody is sticking up
for a former teammate in the NFL. It's about time
we'll get into that for you again a little over
fifteen minutes from now. So Tyreek Kill, is that an

(21:00):
interesting off season? And uh it started with him.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
Hugh Listafi and the interesting off season moves?

Speaker 1 (21:07):
Well these the uh you know, he made the comments
after the season finale last year made it seem like
he didn't want to be there. Any longer. And then
he came back afterwards and said he did want to
be there. And then there was the the unfortunate incident
where apparently he had a fight with his wife, I believe,

(21:29):
and he happened to be seen on a balcony in
South Florida holding their new barn.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
That seemed overblown. I mean a lot of people read
into that. I'd look like he was just holding him
from the angle when he was outside in the balcony.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
I also think it's a bit odd that people would
be filming up at his balcony at that point, so.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
They're always filming him on his balcony or filming his
his condo.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
Yeah, is that like that bald eagle? Out here in
southern California, they've got a camera like you got it?
These these nature freaks and losers out here in southern
California got a problem. First, they build a pathway for
wild animals to cross the freeway on the one oh

(22:12):
one and Aga because what oh okay, by the way,
this is so much better than entire year.

Speaker 2 (22:18):
You realize, like everyone else in the country is unaware
of this. Oh so like tax on taxpair dollars went
to that.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
Okay, So for people like this is an unbelievable thing
that in my I couldn't believe it was an actual,
real thing. I thought it was fake. I thought it
was like an onion headline. So because of the wildfires
out here, which are a real thing and a real problem,
they were worried about wild animals being able to cross
because they were getting hit by cars. If there were

(22:45):
fires in the hills, they would want to get away
and they'd be hit by cars. And this goes back
to this mountain lion that was tagged. It was called
P twenty two. They put a tag on this mountain lion,
and all of a sudden there was like this vigil
and all these people sobbing because this mountain lion decided,
you know what, I'm going to run across the one
to one and go play bumper cars. And how do

(23:05):
you think that went? He ran into a tundra, Okay,
and he got evaporated, all right, which should happen if
you're a moron and want to play Frogger as a
mountain lion across a freeway in southern California. So that's
his fault. He should be held accountable. Instead, what do
they do. Well, we've got to build this pathway for

(23:27):
wild animals to cross the freeway so that it's a
safe place in case something happens they need to get away.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
Okay, great idea.

Speaker 1 (23:36):
That's awesome for the coyotes who now have a direct
line that they can cross through when they want to
go into your backyard and rip your small dog or
cat from you while your kids are watching. That's awesome.
Great idea. So they did all that, they shut down
the freeway. Giant pain in the ass. It was a
pain in the ass for people trying to get to works.
The whole thing seemed ridiculous. Then they've got this camera

(24:00):
watching these bald eagles be born, like literally daily updates,
where you've got this still shot camera watching bald eagles
be born, and what's the progress on the bald eagles,
and and how are the bald eagles looking?

Speaker 2 (24:15):
What? What?

Speaker 1 (24:16):
Like can somebody make sure they just don't fall out
of a tree, Like if you're so worried about those things,
why why don't you put a net underneath it just
in case? You know, one of the babies gets a
little frisky and like reaches out for a leaf and
then next thing, you know, he does a swan dive,
you know, out of the tree nest. And and next
week now we've got another vigil we've got to go through.
Just the priorities are completely out of whack. I don't

(24:38):
understand it. It feels like a bit much. And South
Florida's version of that is their still camera watching Tyreek
Hill and how he behaves on his balcony. Apparently it's
two different worlds. Man, It's just two different worlds, California
and Florida. That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
Yeah, that's that's that's fair to fair to put it
that way. Can we get to Tyreek kill?

Speaker 1 (24:56):
Now? Yeah? All right, so listen, you asked Tyreek Hill,
but I have no idea. Tyreek Hill was asked about
whether or not he wants to be a team captain
for the Dolphins after this uh troublesome offseason, and it
went like this, do you want to be a captain
in twenty twenty five?

Speaker 3 (25:16):
Do you think he's resing.

Speaker 2 (25:17):
To be a captain. I gotta prove myself. This OTAs
trying to camp.

Speaker 3 (25:22):
I got to prove myself.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
I gotta show up different.

Speaker 2 (25:25):
The mindset got to be different. So I don't. I don't.
I mean, I don't feel like I deserve it.

Speaker 3 (25:29):
And if I didn't get it, I.

Speaker 1 (25:30):
Went, I won't do what I.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
Want to win it. You know what I'm saying, because
I put myself in that position.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
You know, I'm fan self.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
So least he's being accountable, all right, little bit of
self awareness from from Tyreek Hill there. You know, he
put himself in this spot. Also, wonder if it's because
he realizes, you know, I mean, I'd like to get
paid again, you know, and then maybe I should go
ahead and and he make nice.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
So he's thirty one, he still has, you know, this
year in twenty twenty six left on his contract. Now,
the Dolphins had voided out three more years on his
deal to kind of spread out the signing bonus that
he initially took, which you know really wasn't that extensive.
There wasn't so much the signing bonus. It was the guarantees.
He got fifty four or excuse me, fifty nine million

(26:17):
dollars fully guaranteed when he signed of his three year,
ninety million dollar contract. So I'm sure he's looking at
it thinking maybe this is the best place where I
have one more bite at the apple. Mind you, he's
got how many kids and baby baby mamas and all that,
and there's a lot of mouths to feed and child
support and everything else that he's got to go along with.
So maybe he was able to rethink some of those

(26:38):
things over the course of this offseason and realize that
he's probably most valued in Miami when you look at
some of his targets and you look at some of
his production despite not playing with Patrick Mahomes, he's been
able to still produce, especially when he's healthy, when he's
out there, and when you couple that with the fact
that if John Neus Smith some of these players they
had on the roster as they're trying to clean up

(26:59):
their cat, if those guys are on the trade block,
well then you're the number one guy, and you're the
guy who's going to be viewed as the leader. The
guy is going to be getting all those targets as
he should. But it may be the best place for him.
I really thought when he got to Miami that this
was going to be the last team he played for.
I didn't think he was going to be able to
wear out as welcome or have any issues it feels

(27:20):
like a place where when you're a star on that
team in that city, they really embrace you and it's
such an incredible lifestyle. I mean, I lived in South
Florida for a long time. To be a professional athlete
down there is incredible, It really is. And I can
only imagine if you are a star for the Miami Dolphins,
what's what that's like, especially with the way when that

(27:41):
team can win, if they get some momentum, that that
fan base will come out and support you. So I'm
sure he's really rethought some of you know, based on
the you know, events o ofver this offseason. Maybe the
grass isn't always greener and maybe this is a place
that he does if he does all the right things,
says all the right things, he ends up, you know,

(28:01):
being the guy that can be a captain, a leader
for this team to help them win more football games.

Speaker 1 (28:05):
It also just seems like we've talked about this before.
You talk about a team that is a night and
day difference between when two is in the lineup and
playing and when he's not, everything falls apart. It's like
everything falls like they go from hey man, that's a
playoff team that could be you know, maybe a problem
for somebody, especially in the first round of the playoffs too.

(28:27):
Uh oh, Let's just hope they've got something figured out
at backup quarterback because like all of a sudden, Mike
McDaniel's job gets questioned, everything falls apart just based on
too his health. Like they are completely hinged on whether
or not two is going to be healthy. And I
look at him. I don't know if you feel the
same way. They feel like high variance. If there is

(28:47):
anybody in the NFL that's high variance to where it
would not surprise me whatsoever if Miami was a playoff
team and or Miami was also picking near the top
of the draft, would not surprise me whatsoever. Alen Ramsey
stuff is weird, like just there openly, Yeah, you know
it's time he's going to go okay, But why, I

(29:09):
just I don't. I don't understand what's happening there. Just
feels like there's so many question marks and there's a
real chance they could be finishing fourth in that division
this year, even behind the Jets, which is tough.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
To tough to and they don't have a ton of
cap space. They have fourteen million in cap space. So
that's like twenty six in the league right now. So
if it's about contract extensions for some of these veterans,
trying to get more guaranteed money at this point in
time and their deal, you know, that sometimes is what
ends up being a breaking point. You know. For Tyreek Hill,
that's not the case this season. I mean, his cap

(29:42):
hit is over twenty seven and a half million dollars.

Speaker 5 (29:45):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
To me, it's it's you know, what money is still
left in us contract before they can move on. He
would be about fifty seven million of dead cab moneies,
which again you could split if it was a June one,
you know, if they ended up cutting them. But I
don't think they want to cut them. They once again
some sort of trade value out of him. So because
of that, if they were gonna part ways, twenty twenty

(30:06):
six makes a lot more sense. He'd be going into
his final year. The contract is still a large cap hit,
but we'll have to be negotiated either with the Dolphins
or another team. So I just I don't see it
happening at this point because the cap HiT's somewhat minimal
for how good of a receiver he is. It's really
next year where you're looking at a scenario where he

(30:26):
either gets cut or he's gonna gonna have a contract
that's extended down renegotiated. And I would think his agent
is Drew Rosenhaus, who's again in South Florida. And one
of the things I would always say to players when
they asked about agents is if you would up playing
for the Dolphins or you're playing for any professional franchise

(30:47):
in South Florida, Drew's a great guy to represent you.
He is so connected in that community and in that
city that it's it's really your oyster like you can
have connections and to do whatever you want, and that's
why you're playing. That's going to the restaurants whatever you want,
or even post career like, He's got a lot of
connections in there to help you out with stuff. So

(31:07):
that's who his agent is, and that's why I just
I don't really see him going somewhere else and enjoying
playing and everything else that comes along with being an
NFL player in another city. It seems like this is
the perfect fit for him, and so again, hopefully he
plays the way they need him to do and the
way he's capable of and then they'll have to address
that contract after this upcoming season.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
By the way, you mentioned John new Smith, who had
his best year of his career as a Pro Bowler
last year, and there's reportedly and apparently the Dolphins are
just open about if they're having trade discussions, whether it's
Jalen Ramsey or Adam Schefter's reporting that the Steelers and
Dolphins specifically have had discussions about potentially trading Smith because
he's got a previous relationship with Arthur Smith. They worked

(31:50):
together before, and even John new Smith, to your point,
like made it be clear his preference is to stay
in Miami, like he wants to stay in Miami, Like
he like that that's where he wants to be. And
now they just figure out whether or not there can
be an adjustment to his contract or whatnot.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
So well, yeah, I mean, he's a Pro Bowl player
and he got paid like four point six I think
he's gonna get paid four point six million last year
or this year. Excuse me. So and look at Jalen Ramsey,
He's he got the third highest cap hit on the team.
I imagine at thirty one years old, they came to him,
maybe try to restructure or get him to go for
a little bit less. That's usually where this comes into play.

(32:30):
But he's got a big dead cap number this year too,
so they're not gonna they're not gonna cut him. They're
gonna have to trade him get something back in return
for him if they can't figure out something in regards
to Jalen Ramsey. But it's just odd to me they're
trying to create so much more cap space. You know,
maybe this is in an attempt to prepare for twenty
twenty six because after this year, the you know, the
cap hits for two are big, Tyreek are big. They're

(32:53):
gonna have to make a lot of decisions on their roster.
You know, this is a roster that head uh some
some old but like a lot of younger players that
are kind of coming up and showing up for them.
But they're gonna have to make it a decision on
a lot of guys after twenty twenty five.

Speaker 5 (34:47):
Good morning guys, how are yous agree?

Speaker 1 (34:49):
Hey? All righty so?

Speaker 5 (34:51):
Starting off During an appearance on the latest episode of
seven PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony, former Pittsburgh Steelers
quarterback and current New York Giant starter Russell Wilson touched
upon sharing a locker room with George Pickens for a season.
I love George. His ability to catch the ball is
one of a kind. On a serious note, he's misunderstood.
He wants to be great, you know. I think too,

(35:13):
also is an ability where he can take it from
not just being great to being one.

Speaker 2 (35:16):
Of the world's best.

Speaker 5 (35:17):
I think he has that in him.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
I mean, he's got the ability. No one's going to
question that, and I don't know that that ever was
questioned whether or not he was capable of being one
of the best, or maybe even being the best. It's
more about effort. And look, Russell's the type of guy
that he's never going to say a bad thing about
only she made well. He's just a positive guy. He's

(35:40):
always been a positive guy. He doesn't like focusing on
anything negative. There's no point in his mind, so that's
not for him. But to get to the point, he
doesn't really address the effort portion. You know, if if
I was gonna be honest with him, I'd say, oh, okay,
well yeah, no one's going to doubt that, But what
about his effort? Are there times where his effort could improve?
And I'm sure he would agree, yes, there's times where

(36:00):
it didn't look like he was overly engaged in being
a professional football player while a game was going on.
That's the simplest way of putting it.

Speaker 1 (36:09):
I would love to see those two have a conversation
about their time in Pittsburgh, because the Steelers made it
pretty evident and pretty clear that yeah, we're good here, guys.
We're gonna go ahead and move on from Russ and
we're going to move on from George Pickens, and we'll
just go ahead and try and figure this thing out
without you guys. So I would like to know their
side of the story there, because Pittsburgh's been pretty quiet

(36:30):
about it, but it was very evident that they were
not interested in their services any longer there with all
the fine money that George Pickens racked up as well too,
what else we got Brie? All rightie.

Speaker 5 (36:41):
So Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenneimer said this during a
recent media session about Dak Prescott.

Speaker 1 (36:47):
And I think Dak is in the developmental phase. And
that sounds crazy for you guys played that much, but
like there's things that we're tweaking with Dak. How about
that still developing after all these years.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
He's not wrong, I mean, that's part of it, right,
You're always evolving, adjusting, adapting. He's got a new offense
to a degree, with Brian Schottenheimer now calling it, I mean,
and thenoly reason I say that to a degree is
because it's the same language, same system. However, you know,
Mike McCarthy's not there. So whatever adjustments changes that Shody

(37:19):
wants to make and that he has from his system,
they're going to make. And so that could be ten percent,
it could be thirty percent. I don't know how big
of a change that'll be, but there's definitely going to
be some things that they would change. Like one of
the hardest things that when I was with Shoddy with
his system is they wouldn't call the cadence in the huddle.
So usually like on one ready, right, something like that, right,

(37:41):
if it's an even number of a run play, or
if it's an even number of a protection, automatically on two,
if it's an odd number, or if it's going left,
it's automatically on one. So it was like an adjustment
for me. It sounds very simple, but when you get
in a habit for years, thousands of times calling plays

(38:01):
in the huddle and then telling everyone what they snap
count is going to be on hate you know, you know,
quick count on one, hard, three ready, like break, but
then you just you'd say the plane you walk in
the line of scrimmage, and guys had a hard time
adjusting to that because they'd be asking all the time,
what's it on? What's it on? You'd be like, Tuesday, Tuesday, Monday.
You always had code words for what it was on,
but you'd constantly be reminding guys because it was just

(38:23):
such a different system in that way.

Speaker 1 (38:25):
By the way, if Brian Schottenhiver had come out and said, no, man,
Dak's good. You know, we don't need to go through
any development. He's a finished product. We're ready to roll,
they would have gotten buried because all he's a finished product, right,
No matter like, you can't win with Dak Prescott, you can't.
Whatever the discussion is with him, somebody's gonna they're gonna
bury him.

Speaker 2 (38:43):
You can't win.

Speaker 1 (38:44):
