Two Pros and a Cup of Joe. Fox Sports Radio,
Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here. Coming up on
this Monday edition. The National Championship is set, but what
the hell happened between Duke and Houston. We're going to
try and break it all down and maybe a surprising
number heading into the game. We're not talking about the
ticket price. We're talking about the betting line. We'll get
into that for you here. We're also going to talk
(00:21):
about Colorado, the Pro Day, the Showcase, whatever you want
to call it. Apparently patting the football is the real
issue there in Boulder. We'll find out the very latest
when it comes to draft odds, what do you make
of them? Maybe a surprise near the top of the
NFL Draft. We've got a little interesting tidbit from the
NFL's owners meetings. Apparently the Lions weren't the reason that
(00:44):
a new schedule and a new seating format was presented.
We've also got another edition of In case you missed it,
We've got Lee's Leftovers, and we've got the FSRIR. It's
all yours coming up next here, Two Pros and a
Cup of Joe on a Monday, Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
So I listen. I'm just I'm just saying.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
I can't confirm nor deny that, but there has been
some speculation that that drive in was a really, really
difficult thing on Thursday Friday. So there's no LeVar here
on this Monday edition of the show.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
So you guys are ruthless. Huh, ruthless.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
No, we're just kidding, we're teasing. No, he's a ped suspension.

(02:13):
BQ on a Monday film, Great feeling ready to go?
Speaker 4 (02:17):
Ready to talk about some historic stuff that occurred over
the weekend in a number of ways, A little disappointed
though too. I Uh, boy like a lot of other
people turned off the Duke game after I thought they
had that well in hand and Boyle was I wrong.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
So that was a little disappointing.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
I think fourth will be the high watermark for me
in this whole bracket deal, because obviously I had Duke winning,
I had Florida in the finals, but Houston now being
in there and whoever wins it, I'm not sure I'm
going to be able to jump ahead of anyone else
at this point. But had I had Duke actually won,
I think I could have gotten as high as second.
(02:57):
So I know we talked about that at length with
Lee at some point Thursday or Friday. But I believe
the actual the high point I could have gotten to
would have been second because of what the other people
had in the finals.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
And in the final four, and I believe Chris Plank
is going to Is it over Lee? Is it basically
a wrap that Plank's going to win this whole thing?
Speaker 3 (03:19):
Yeah, it looks like it's a rep for Plank.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Oka.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Are you sure no one has Florida winning? Let me
double check real quick.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
But because you said this last week and you were
absolutely wrong, because you're like, oh, you're they're.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
Kind of locked into fourth. I was like, no, it's
a new week. Have a little faith.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Let's see here.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
There's a phrase called trust that verify and with Lee
that applies with everything.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
So we are we are gathering the information here. Chris Plank, though,
has taken the lead. I got to be honest with you,
I'm still shocked the Duke loss that game.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
Lee, you got the uh yeah.
Speaker 5 (04:03):
If Houston does win, then Rob Parker at Aeron Torres
will skip over Chris Blake.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
There you go. So what do you say about thirty
seconds ago? Lee said, Chris Blake's got it in the bag. Baby,
let's go Chris. All right?
Speaker 1 (04:16):
So so Torres and Rob Parker will tie if well,
that can't happen. I don't think that could happen.
Speaker 4 (04:24):
There'll be a tiebreaker. I assume there's some way they'll feel.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
I think the tiebreaker was the opening round. Saint John's
whoever Saint John's played in the first game was the
tiebreaker score you which I was almost spot on on that,
by the way, but irrelevant now because I'm way down there.
But point is a stunning result that took place at
the Final four between Houston and Duke. I watching that
(04:50):
game as it's happening, it was like in slow motion,
and I'm thinking to myself, well, they're actually going to
lose this game. They they were in seemingly total control,
total command, fourteen point lead with however much time was
like it just it seemed like it was in cruise control.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
And we have six points with thirty seconds left, Like
I don't go, wait what And.
Speaker 4 (05:18):
I think they're up like eight or nine at half,
and it felt like they were up like eighteen or
nineteen at half. I mean, the game never really fell
close until the end, and Houston didn't give up. I
mean give him credit, men, I mean coach Sampson his career,
Like those guys, they're scrappy, they're tough, they're relentless. They
didn't give up. And in the final moments, you know,
they only needed one call to go through way, which
(05:40):
was possibly the worst call in the tournament. I'm not
sure how. And then the funny thing about the call
was it was so quick by the official.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
And had it played out, Duke wasn't even.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
Get the ball anyway, like like Cooper flag tipped the
ball back a Houston player got the ball, so it
was it was a bit crazy that they they they
actually made that call in that moment.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
For all the times we talk about.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
End of game and you know how typically basketball is played,
usually there's some things that get away with in regards
to the physicality of how the players play. So you know,
a lot of people want to point to that that
foul gives a one on one guy makes two. Now
it gets me that much closer, And obviously it doesn't
take much time at all off the clock. But you know,
(06:26):
Doke have their opportunities. I'm not sure what they're doing
f an inbound, you know, throwing a deep pass and
he's man. You know, if you and another thing I'd
say is if you had the game in the line
and Cooper Flag with an opportunity hit a shot to
win it, I think if you're a Duke fan, you
would have said, yeah, I'll take that. Unfortunately, the way
the game went, you just kind of thought that thing
was in the bag, like like kind of like lead
(06:48):
a lap.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
So yeah, and then you know Procter having the ball
and not passing it when he's a sixty eight percent
free throw shooter late in the game and it's a
one on one situation and he's kind of dribbling around
and it's like, no, that's at the point where you
give it up. And one of the discussions that people
had was, well, they weren't really tested. It's like, okay, well,
(07:10):
I can understand that if the game was like really
close and back and forth and then like you know, hey,
are they going to come up with.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
A play late?
Speaker 1 (07:17):
But like that was a full blown collapse, like they
they collapsed, and like, you know, people want to celebrate
Kelvin Sampson and Houston and it's a great story. The
bigger story there is the Duke gag job, total gag job.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Like they like and they're looking around.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
I can't imagine that that CBS was thrilled, although I did.
I did think it was important to point out that
Jim Nance was there and he was crying, that he
was crying because he was a Houston alum.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
I do think that was important. Why that's important to
point out?
Speaker 1 (07:49):
Well, I mean I just think that that's that that
really told the story of Houston. Like I couldn't care
less if Jim Nance had just gotten out of prison, who, like,
why is that? Why is that relevant to anything. He's
there and he's not calling the game.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
He works for the record, the network. Sweet, Like, what
are we doing?
Speaker 1 (08:07):
Like if if Eastern Illinois does something in the tournament,
are they gonna cut away to Tony Romo on the crowd?
Like and I think he went there. If he didn't,
who cares, We'll take it out of the podcast.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
But who, like who gives a rip?
Speaker 1 (08:20):
Like nobody there, like even Houston fans, like they were
showing u a keem Elijahan was there and he was
even sitting back going, yeah, this game's over, but these
are sweet seats like whatever, and then you just watch
his historic meltdown after meltdown take place by Duke, You're like, wait.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
This is actually gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
And I'm not even saying this to be a smart ass,
because I had Duke to win and it might have
cost me a two team parlay on the money line,
which was which was really troublesome. But like it makes
me not want to watch the National Championship game as much,
Like I was really looking forward to Duke and Florida.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Because an.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Because Duke's not in it, because it felt like Duke
and Florida were the two best teams in the tournament.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Yeah, and I think by and large this season, like
Houston was one of those teams, they had a phenomenal
record coming into the tournament.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Auburn was one of those teams. Like if you.
Speaker 4 (09:16):
Really look at it, the final four to me was
exactly what you had hoped for, you know, Now would
it play out the way we thought? I mean I
would say, yeah, you can make the case Duke's body
of work is was probably just as good, if not better.
But I think it's to me, it's more about the brand.
It's more about Cooper Flag. Like I think people view
(09:38):
Cooper Cooper Flag as one of the best players, probably
the number one overall pick, and I think that's more
one of the reasons why you want to see that,
you know, finish itself off, Like you wanted to see
that matchup of Duke versus Florida and then the various
things we've seen, But it's not the case. I'm sure
the TV networks aren't as excited about the Houston Florida matchup.
(09:59):
I mean, Duke Florida would been huge and in a
lot of ways, and that ultimately in the final four
was a two you're hoping for. But that's how that's
how sports work, man.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
I mean, I'm.
Speaker 4 (10:08):
Disappointed too, I'll still watch. I'm kind of curious to
see what can happen. I think what's the liveline as
of right now?
Speaker 3 (10:15):
Oh, efforting, give me one.
Speaker 4 (10:17):
I would assume Florida's a favorite by four and a half,
six six points, and that they are one point favorite
one Okay, all right, way off.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
I guess I'm leaning heavy towards Florida in this one. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
So if you if you get to draft Kings right
now and you you like that line, you can check
out Florida currently sitting at a point favorite heading into
this game.
Speaker 4 (10:37):
So I just think Florida's length and size is going
to be an issue for Houston this one. But that
being said, one of the narratives, and I was a
part of this in saying it, is that John Shire,
with getting to the Final four, is kind of put
his stamp on this duke team and like and what
they are and what they're going to be and filling
(10:59):
in the shoes of of coach k I'm not putting
it on him down the stretch, but it felt like
in moments they kind of weren't prepared for it.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
I felt like, and Kevin Samson said this after the game.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
He's like, we just felt like if we could put
some pressure on them that we would have an opportunity.
And he's basically saying, if we put pressure on them,
they'll start making mistakes, they might fold, and they did.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
So I don't think.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
There's any way you could look at this game and
the outcome and go oh, Houston went and took and won. Well,
sure they made plays in the end, but I thought
Duke more collassed than anything else. And I think that's
fair to say.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
John Shire spoke about that subject there with CBS postgame.
Speaker 6 (11:43):
I feel we were one of one in terms of
the way we put this thing together. It's been a
magical ride. We believe with everything we had we were
gonna win a championship here. And so I'm just I
feel for them because they're competitive and they're going to
think about plays. I didn't help them enough, and that's
and that's where my mind goes. And I couldn't be
(12:04):
more proud of them, though you got it, this is
part of it.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
This is part of it.
Speaker 6 (12:08):
Unfortunately, you know, we haven't been in a lot of
those games, and we've watched a lot of game situations
and practiced and that's where I wish I could have
helped them more.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Yeah, well what helped us to coach, you know, those
that had Duke make it a little run of this
whole thing. But you know, now Cooper Flag is off
to the NBA, like like what is it? And listen,
I know that he's got the number one pick potentially
in the bag and all that stuff. He just won
the Wooden Award, Like you really want to go out
(12:39):
like that? Like that would bother me? Like that, that
would really bother me if that was my lasting memory
at Duke as a college player, the way that game
ended and the way you walk away from it.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
But apparently it's over.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
He's you know, it's odd that you brought up is
Tyree's procter and his inability to shoot free throws or
looking over that so when he so you go back
to twenty twenty two to twenty twenty three season, he
was an eighty seven percent free throw shooter all right.
Now granted shot thirty two percent from three. He's now
basically a forty one percent shooter from three, and he's
(13:15):
a sixty eight percent free throw shooter. Like, every year
he's gotten better at shooting threes, he's gotten wars of
shooting free throws.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
So how far back can you step away from the
free throw line for it to be considered.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
You want to start shooting?
Speaker 4 (13:29):
From you, he'd be hitting them at a clip that
would be less than just free throw shooting day.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
He said, banging free throws from twenty three feet.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
I would just say this, if you're one of the
best three point shooters in the NCAA, which had forty
one percent, there's no doubt you are. I'm thinking to myself, like,
how can you not shoot free throws? Well, like there
should be a correlation there. Most I mean, I grew
up on Mark Price. Mark Price was only the greatest
three point shooters in the NBA. Is seeing he's an
unbelievable free throw shooter as well. It's like that it
(13:59):
goes hand in hand, and that doesn't make any sense
to me.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Yeah, it is bizarre that he wouldn't be better at that,
But I mean some guys, We've talked about it before.
Some guys just want to shoot threes, Like Steph Curry, really,
Steph Curry, really.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
Do you ever doubt Steph Curry there never yeah, yeah never.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
So that was just bizarre how that game finished.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
But did you now now you lost one of your parlay? Yeah,
so what do you do after the game to event
to get this out? Like I mean sad? You go
for a little workout? Did you do like just hit
the bottle like lee? Like what did you do?
Speaker 1 (14:41):
Because I like at this point like I want to
be Uh, I don't have role models, right, but like
a positive influence on my son. So because I lost
that bet, I just went upstairs and I took money
out of his piggy bank and uh, and just figured
I would just pay off the difference there. So and
then he asked, he what are you doing but in
(15:01):
Spanish and I don't know, I don't know how to
say that in Spanish. So I just said, yeah, that
that and I just said, uh, got to pay some bills, bud.
And then you know, he learned a lesson there. So
now he knows when daddy's got a parlay going, it's
got to hit or else things are going to get
a little bit lighter on the shelf up there.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
Have you thought about selling some of his toys or
even old toys like on eBay. Maybe getting a little
bit back from that.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
Uh No, I don't. I don't want to have to
go through the whole eBay hassle, like posting a picture
doing all do it for you would do it? Yeah, Lee,
have you done eBay? Are you an eBay specialist?
Speaker 3 (15:38):
I am not an eBay specialist.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
He do's like a lot of work, you know, And
if I was going to do it, I would just
use ship station.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
So but some people are different, you know, just more
for business. But it works there to Yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
Look, I mean just you know, but I would personally
go that direction. But yeah, I'll stay away from the
eBay eBay selling if I can. Uh So, Yeah, everybody
enjoy Houston Florida.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
I'm with you.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
I think Florida wins surprise that it's a point favorite,
but you know, hopefully we'll get a decent game at
least for all that. We should also mention some history
last night in the world of sports that you touched on.
Congratulations to the great alex Ovechkin. This from the Capital's
Radio Network.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
Right sign to Wilson sentered up, Oh Thatstan has any stars?
Speaker 7 (16:27):
He stares alex O bench dein Star Saint ninety five.
There's a new gold storing champion and his name is
Alexander Oh betchten.
Speaker 8 (16:43):
He has done it here on Long Island. His teammates
bob him. There is but one Alexander the greats, the
greatest to ever do it in National Hocty League history.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
He did it also, by the way, in the same
number of games as Gretzki's pretty incredible. Yeah, kind of
wild and incredible. That's one of those ones that you thought,
there's no way anybody's going to break that, and then
he just continued to score and score and score, and
then even said when he tied the record at home
a couple of nights ago, he said they had an
(17:22):
opportunity to get the record there, but he didn't want
to do it on an empty net goal. So he
made it a point, I'd rather do it legitimately with
a goaliean net and try and see if I can
get it done that way. And so he did it
against the Islanders last night.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
Just awesome.
Speaker 4 (17:38):
He was pretty cool, pretty cool. It does beg the
question though, because a lot of people did say that
would never be broken. Well, here we are. Alex Ovechkin
has done it. The same amount of games. So do
you know who's next up in the list or who's
the next closest active player? O?
Speaker 1 (17:53):
No, can I take a guess?
Speaker 3 (17:56):
Sure? Okay, you should know this. You should know this.
That's that's your.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
Hint, oh, Jack Johnson, No, no, you should know this.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Sidney Crosby, that's right.
Speaker 4 (18:10):
Yeah, so Sidney Crosby at age thirty seven is the
next closest. But I'm seeing as far as to reach
eight or ninety five goals, it would take him if
he averaged about thirty five goals per season, about eight
more full season.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
Yeah, that's yeah, that's not happening. He's not that.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
He was more of an all around passer score yeah, yeah, No,
Vetchkin's always been the sharpshooter.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
Austin Matthews from the Toronto Maple Leaves.
Speaker 4 (18:37):
He's kind of second, probably with a potential chance of
doing it. He's twenty seven, so he could maybe find
his way there. There's a few other I mean, Connor
McDavid is one that comes to mind, at twenty eight
years old, the way he can score. Nathan McKinnon, you know,
he might be one. He's younger, and he's actually I
(18:58):
believe it's less goals than McDavid. So some of these
guys gonna have to play like well into their forties.
And I think a couple of things that are incredible
about Ave. He's thirty nine, Like when you think about
how Crosby'd have to play eight more years at thirty
five goals per year, at least at that rate, he's
forty five, it's.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
Like a Vechkin didn't have a thirty nine. It's pretty incredible,
I mean.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
And also durability. He hasn't missed a ton of games.
Like if you go through just year by year, there
was obviously you know, the COVID year, which was a
weird one for everybody, But if you go through, like
he doesn't miss a ton of games, and if he
if he's scoring this many goals, he's just going to
keep adding on to this number anyway, So the lead's
(19:42):
going to get wider and wider and wider. And I look,
I don't think he gets to a thousand, but I
just an incredible career and just to see his consistency
and how long he's done it for amazing stuff. So
congratulations to Alex Levechkin. Had a had a Core Light
after the game as well too, celebrating the momentous occasion
(20:04):
and there it'll swing juice for him. It is Two
Pros and a Cup of Joe here on Fox Sports Radio.

a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Arrington and

Speaker 1 (20:52):
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe, Fox Sports Radio,
Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here. Coming up a
little over fifteen minutes from now here from the Tirac
dot com studios. We are going to tell you about
some thiefs in the world of sports. That'll be yours
here on FSRU. There's a lot of conversation, a lot
(21:12):
of breakdowns. I would look like I've always heard that
these pro days, you know, they're scripted, like it's a showcase.
You know, you put on this, you know, presentation. Hey,
this is what we're doing. But you know it's not really,
you know, just kind of a showcase. And then shad
Or Sanders throws at his pro day, his showcase over
(21:34):
the weekend, and the criticism coming out of it is
that he pats the ball too much for some people,
that he's patting the ball when he's throwing it.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
And I'm just.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
Wondering, is that really something to be broken down and
discussed or is that because it's should Or Sanders and
it's Colorado, that a generated conversation.
Speaker 4 (21:53):
It feels like the latter, honestly, I mean, I'm not
sure who started it in talking about it, but the
idea of patting the ball and defensive backs getting a
break on it, it's not There's not a whole lot there,
and and here's why. So let's just start off by
the defensive backs job or really any defender in coverage.
(22:15):
If you're playing Manda man, what are you looking at?
Speaker 1 (22:21):
Yeah, I mean.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
It's all right, Yeah, it's all right. We'll move on,
but we'll not incorporate you as part of this. Howbout
we going to lead a lot?
Speaker 3 (22:29):
Why?
Speaker 1 (22:30):
I know you were asking me, all right, so so
give me the question again, isn't.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
More audience can't respond?
Speaker 4 (22:35):
So yeah, Lee, if if you're playing Manda man coverage,
wear your eyes in man man, you'ayer.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
So you're not even watching for the pat of the
football in the first place. So the other types of
coverage you play zone coverage. Now, when you're playing zone coverage,
if you're a defensive player, you can have eyes on
the quarterback.
Speaker 3 (22:55):
Right, You're going to.
Speaker 4 (22:55):
Kind of be aware of where the players that are
coming into your zone. If it's a match zone, you
match up and play and it looks kind of similar to
man demand. But here's the thing about playing zone coverage
is when a quarterback knows you're in zone coverage, you
can manipulate them with your eyes. So even if you're
you know, back there, dropping back, you're moving them around.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
You know, the padding of.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
The football is going to come like seconds and then
not even seconds milliseconds before you're actually delivering the football.
And if the quarterback's doing it right, he's most likely
looking off the defense or should be holding the defense
at a minimum with where they're at. So the break
of the defensive back or defensive player is actually gonna
(23:39):
come on once he turns and flips to address the throw.
If it's in zone, if it's in man coverage, the
dB or defensive player is gonna break probably when he
sees the offensive player cut either stop his feet, either
cut in, cut out, whatever the case is. He's gonna
look for certain indicators right like his hips dropping, you know,
maybe his head. I mean, there's all sorts of tendencies
(24:01):
depending on what the player does, but a man and
man coverage, you're looking for tennessees for more the player
you're covering than you are the quarterback necessarily.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
I mean, if you're the middlefield safety, sure, so be it.
Speaker 4 (24:12):
But honestly, I mean, as a quarterback, especially when in
college or the NFL, if you're allowing the middlefield safety
to influence a throw, that's really on you for how
you're staring down at target has nothing to do.
Speaker 3 (24:23):
With patting the football.
Speaker 4 (24:24):
Patting the football to me has always actually been a
sign of a guy who's calm and really in rhythm.
Most guys when they're like, always patted the football back
there all day. Well, a couple of things. One, he's
got time in the pocket, and then two, he's going
through his progressions. He's not patting trying to throw to
the same guy. He's probably patting as he's as he's
kind of going through each guy he's supposed to be
(24:46):
throwing through in the progression that might not be open.
So this is one of those things that you could
take any clip from any quarterback at any point in
time and you will see them pat the football. Now,
there'll be a lot of you know, young coaches, high
school coach. They'll say, well, it's a good ball security,
your two hands on the ball in the pot.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (25:06):
I've worked with Jim Zorn, who played in the NFL
at a really high level. We'll obviously coach for a
long long time. He was one of the best coaches
of the quarterback position because he would literally take a
fallacy like them and be like, dude, it's that's not true.
He's like, how how often times you see a guy
using his off arm to push off from a defender,
(25:27):
He's like, and it's not realistic if you're running for
your life because the guys on defense by and large
are faster than you. If you're running as fast as
you can, are you going to run with two hands
on the football. Hell no, you're You're going to talk
it at one point. But even if you want to
still be able to have the ability to throw and
you're gripping the football, you are running with one hand
on the ball. That's what That's what an athletic running
(25:51):
motion looks like. So there's a there's a lot of
things that are coached in the quarterback position to make
coaches feel like they're covering their ass because if a
quarterback has two hands.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
In the football, he can't be strip sack. That's one
hundred percent a lie.
Speaker 4 (26:05):
If the defender hits the ball at the top of
the point when you have two hands or one hand
on it, I'm gonna give you a secret. The ball's
coming out. That's just how physics work. Okay, So this
has been completely over exaggerated in my opinion, and we're
making way too much of a T shirt and shorts thing.
(26:26):
If you want to be concerned about something in that
particular protage. Just from what I saw from some of
the clips, again didn't watch the entire thing. The ball
didn come out of his hand grate, you know. And
that's something where I think as you get to a
different football schador will find a way of gripping the
football that's more comfortable to him his hand and get
more customers spending that football. It takes a little bit
(26:48):
of time. There's an adjustment period there. I don't know
his hand size. You know, when you have a bigger hand,
it's a little easier to do that because you can
cover up more of the ball and you can find
a spot where you can spin it more consistently. But
if there's something to be concerned about like that, to
me was the more concerning part is when you throw
a ball that's not a tight spiral, when you get
outside in the elements, you're going to struggle in the wind,
(27:10):
You're going to struggle through some of those things.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
So if you want to take a takeaway and you
want to take like.
Speaker 4 (27:14):
A position or I'm concerned, I'd be more concerned about
how the ball is coming off his hand than anything else.
The patty of the football is most overblown thing.
Speaker 1 (27:23):
I think Brian Baldinger said that if you were doing
the comp between him and cam Woard, that cam Ward
spun it a little better at his pro day, that
the same thing, like the ball came out a little
bit better when it came to cam Ward. I thought
you said something that was the most obvious aspect of
the coverage of this draft and this draft when it
(27:45):
comes to the interesting storyline attached to this draft is
shad Or Sanders. Like it just is like, there's where's
he going to go? How far is he going to fall?
Is it going to be the Giants to the Brown
to make a run on two? And there's been some
changes of the odds that we'll get into later on,
but it really is the only true interesting storyline because
(28:08):
cam Ward's going on, there's not a lot of questions
or doubts when it comes to Abdul Carter. Everybody knows
Travis Hunters a great player. He won the Heisman last year.
He can do it on both sides. It's really Shador
Sanders because he's Dion Sun. Because he's had a spotlight
on him for so long at the college level and
people want to know where's he going to end up
(28:28):
if he is quarterback number two. And so it just
feels like we're at the point now to where people
have run him down or hyped him up every which
way that they could possibly do up to this point,
and now we're looking at him going, well, he's patting
the ball at his pro day, like it just like
that's where it feels like we're at and we get here.
(28:50):
But in other drafts it feels like there's more going on.
But as you laid it out a couple of weeks ago,
this really is the storyline that everybody's paying attention to
the draft.
Speaker 4 (29:01):
And here here's something else too that's that's kind of
humorous to me. Does anyone watch tape? Does anyone watch
them play? Like, if you watched them play, did you
notice he passed the football? Then? So I sat there
like this is some revelation because he's in a T
shirt and short set of pro day.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
We're bringing this up.
Speaker 4 (29:22):
I have a hard time taking a lot of this
stuff and breaking it down too much this time yere,
because so much is what's perpetuated with a lot of
what's out there to your point, it's either manufactured for
the drama of the draft, and clearly Coach Prime and
his son Shador and Travis Hunter are going to be
(29:44):
guys that are going to be talked about more like that,
like because they've been more polarizing the entire story of
how they got to Colorado, what they did at Colorado
now and how they did it at Colorado and now
how they go in the NFL, Like it's one of
the most interesting stories in sports because still a Frank
Sinatra quote, they kind of did it my way, right, like,
they they did it the way they wanted to do it,
(30:06):
and now you're trying to come into the NFL doing that.
We will be effective, I don't know. So that, without
a doubt is the storyline for me. Though there's still
the process of the agents. There's still the process of
the teams that leak stuff out and say stuff trying
to manipulate the entire process. And again it's manufactured drama,
(30:27):
so I can't really lean into it too hard. We've
got the draft still a few weeks away. I think
the more interesting thing that Albert Breer brought up last
week is that they will be a lot of activity
in the first round of the draft because and you
can maybe fact check this, but I feel like at
least the last year or two of drafts, I don't
(30:48):
know that there's been as many trades, although you know,
they kind of come and go and then you kind of,
you know, move on. So maybe I'm just remembering, but
you know, not remembering. But I feel like the first
round last year there wasn't as much action. It wasn't
as much activity, and it feels like this year that
that actually may not be the case, Like there may
(31:08):
be a lot more teams trying to you know, pick
and prod and move around the first round to find.
Speaker 3 (31:12):
Guys that they really feel I can make the roster
or make more sense for them.
Speaker 1 (31:17):
I think the number that I saw on Draft Kings
was the number of quarterbacks taken in the first round.
I think the over under was at three and a
half because the feeling is it's going to be cam
Ward Shador and then Jackson Dart and so that's where
you know which By the way, I cannot wait to
do over unders on the draft when it gets here.
I don't think I've missed one yet. Like all the
years we've been doing this show, I don't think I've
(31:38):
missed one yet, so that's not true.
Speaker 4 (31:40):
The interesting thing about that number is I would be
more I would be I would have been more surprised.
I guess I would have thought it would have been
set at two and a half. And for the reason
being is if you if you grate out this draft
class compared to previous, you know you would have to
go in last year's class probably five players deep before
(32:02):
you're getting to guys that Cam Wore and shaud Or
Sanders and Jackson Dart are you know, comps for in
regards to their draft overall prospect, the ratings, et cetera.
So I would have thought two and a half would
have been that number, which leads me to think, like,
who's the surprise potential fourth that would hit that over
would be Jalen Milrow.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
So it's showing right now two and a half at
a minus three twenty on the draft kings. So it's
a significant you know, feeling is that it's going to
be that it's gonna.
Speaker 3 (32:33):
Be for sure two yeah, maybe three yeah?
Speaker 1 (32:35):
Right, So I just and also when you start thinking
about the teams that are there that they could be
taking Shaud or Sanders or could be in the market
for Shaud or Sanders. Like, it's not like there's going
to be a lack of teams willing or looking at
at trying to take a guy. Like there's the Saints,
which make a lot of sense, there's the Jets, which
(32:57):
could make some sense. So this whole like, well, he's
patting the ball and you know he came across as Eric.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
Why does Saints make so much sense? Everyone points out
the Saints. Why is that?
Speaker 1 (33:08):
Because Derek Carr's got one year left on his deal
and apparently he was looking at wanting to begin I.
Speaker 4 (33:14):
Get that, but like he's kind of played decently well
in his career. There he's thirty four years old.
Speaker 3 (33:20):
I don't know. And by the way, he doesn't have
one year left. He's got this year in the following year.
It's not like he's going in his last year.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
It's also been he feels like, although I've taken the
bait on the Saints the last two years, I'm tired.
Speaker 3 (33:33):
Of doing it.
Speaker 1 (33:33):
But it feels like that's a team you look at
and go, oh, they could win that division, Like that's
a team that could win the division. And then somehow,
some way, he ends up getting hurt. He goes to
diving to try and you know, get a first down
and suffers three injuries in one play. Like it just
feels like that that's where it's been with the Saints
the past couple of years. But it's like it's not
like there's going to be a lack of spots for
(33:55):
Shador Sanders And if one of those teams is sitting there,
they're really going to stop and go Hold on a second,
are we sure about this? The guy patted the ball
at his at his workouts at his pro day. They
should go back and look at the play where he
got annihilated. Uh, And I forget who Colorado was playing.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
I don't most games, but like the protection wasn't yeah,
where he like he had scrambled.
Speaker 1 (34:20):
He stood in there, he made a throw and a
guy launched himself low like like almost wint at his knee,
and it looked like he suffered a serious injury. And
he stayed in the game, Like stayed in the game.
Like there's there's durability all that. I feel like he's
checked a lot of the boxes. But you know, people
want to want to go ahead and try and nitpick
certain things when it comes to him, and and away
(34:42):
we go with the NFL Draft, which, by the way,
yeah we are a couple.
Speaker 6 (34:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
It was against Kansas. Yeah, he got annihilated in that,
and he stayed in the game like there was no
like it looked like that could have been a really
serious injury. Guy stayed in the game and finished it out.
So I just feel like there's a lot that you
could point two as opposed to just patting the ball
or his attitude at the combine or whatever he gave
teams when he was there. So it is two pros

Lea Lapp.
Speaker 3 (37:43):
Good morning everybody, Good morning Jonas, good morning Brady. Guys.
Speaker 5 (37:47):
In case you missed this, Two well known Ohio State
media figures have been.
Speaker 3 (37:54):
Hey bar guys. Yeah, in case you.
Speaker 5 (37:56):
Missed this, two well known Ohio state media figures have
been fired from their syndicate, the podcast that was being
Jeremy Birmingham and Austin Ward. They've been fired for cause,
and the accusation is that they allegedly arranged a twenty
five thousand dollars NIL deal to benefit the safety downs
for Ohio State, only to deliver just five thousand dollars
(38:17):
to the player. According to the allegations, they pocketed the
remaining twenty thousand dollars. Of course, they've come out and
you know, denied these allegations.
Speaker 3 (38:27):
Thank you, breed h.
Speaker 4 (38:30):
Here's a SOLF part in the NIL space is there's
a lot of people who have made some promises and
not held up to their contractual obligations, and it kind
of felt like they could because you know, like, what's
the player gonna do? You know, is all of this
above blah blah blah blah. It's like, well, yeah, man,
you sign a contract and you screwed over a kid.
Like if you're gonna agree to it, you're gonna put
(38:52):
it out there. Go give him what he deserves. You
should be taken less on your end if you can't
pay up what you agreed to. So it's I mean again,
I don't know all of the details, but from what
I've heard so far, it's just and them moving on
from these guys.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
Uh so you know, some scumbag activity basically a couple
of thiefs.
Speaker 3 (39:15):
In essence, con jobs in essence.
Speaker 4 (39:18):
I'm also shocked at Ohio State can find them a
podcast to panel a little bit more.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
Damn.
Speaker 4 (39:22):
I'm just saying, Yeah, there's a lot more lucrative podcasts
out there for so many schools and players.
Speaker 5 (39:28):
What else we got Lee guys, In case you missed it,
Yukon dominated South Carolina when it's twelfth national title and
women's backs.
Speaker 3 (39:40):
That's what I'm here for. A Lee hotline. Who's that?
Who's call? Who calls into that hotline? Who's got the
number there? The lines are still open from the Ben
Mellor show. Oh okay, okay, So you think they want
to call in and talk about the women's championship. Hey,
I got to take on that. Yeah, hot take, it's
probably better than ours.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
It wasn't like there was a former technical producer who
didn't want to pay. He didn't want to pay his bills,
and so he gave out the hotline number in the
other studio, and so bill collectors would call the other
studio looking for him.
Speaker 4 (40:20):
I don't know if you want them calling your work
to let them know you're on payments, but not a
bad strategy otherwise.
Speaker 1 (40:27):
I answer one of those calls and they were not happy.
Speaker 3 (40:31):
Your boss is like, why is this guy pay his
bills by? They call here? The hell eight seven seven,
damn
