Speaker 1 (00:00):
Two Pros and a cup of Joe. Fox Sports Radio
Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here. Coming up on
this Tuesday edition, of course, we're gonna have Dean Blandino
stop bye. We're gonna ask about all things including hot
air balloons. Yes, find out why that'll be yours here
on the show. We're also gonna talk about why LeVar
Arrington's not on this show. Apparently it's really tough getting
back from state college. Apparently allegedly who knows what sort

(00:22):
of form of transportation he's taking, but we'll get into
that for you here. We're also going to talk about
double barrel action in the NFL on Monday Night Football,
including what the Tyreek Hill injury not only means for
the Miami Dolphins but for his future. Gruesome injury on
Monday Night. Speaking of Gruesome, the Cincinnati Bengals, they got
problems and apparently Jake Browning is not the answer, but

(00:46):
could there be help on the way. Plus, we're gonna
get into the very latest on the Eagles drama surrounding
aj Brown And we've got some college football stuff to
go over. It's all yours coming up next here. Two
Pros and a cup of Joe on a Tuesday Fox
Sports Radio, and away we go. Here on a Tuesday morning.

(01:08):
It is two pros and a couple of year old
Fox Sports Radio Brady Quinn Jonas dox with you here.
No LeVar Arrington.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
I know he's traveling though he's making his way.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Back, making his way back. It's on the organ trail.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
We have a problem.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
LaVar is the only guy I know traveled from State
College and it may as well have been Singapore.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Like, I have no idea how long it takes you
to give you.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Somehow State College is in a completely different hemisphere from LeVar.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Like he's got to go through warps and and booby
traps and all the other things to get back back
into southern California where he lives.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Can I be honest, Like, I've been to State College
a number of times. There's morning flights out the next day,
and for whatever reason, lafore never takes those into that connecting.
And you can also drive to Pittsburgh, you can drive
to a few other spots, but he, for some reason
always takes the late flight out. And then somehow that

(02:10):
was an issue, I guess. And then Monday went by
and somehow he still wasn't able to fly out. I mean,
it's it's hard to put it together, but I've been
there multiple times, had no issues getting out of state college.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
And now why would you think that he would take
the latest flight possible.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
What would be the reasoning behind that is there?

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Well, Saturday night was a night game. It's a white out,
which for Penn State fans. And then by the way,
people were chiming in too much Penn State yesterday. Look,
we're done. We're not gonna talk about it. We're not
gonna talk about the white the white out and what
a great atmosphere it was, even though it still doesn't
help them win big games. But we're not gonna talk

(02:47):
about that anymore. We're talking about levarn and not making
it back in time. Yeah, that's all. It's all we're saying.
And by the way, it's a great game. It's a
great game.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
We talk about it just to a ps the people
that are fed up with the Penn State rhetoric.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
It's like what it is, and it's gone to.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
The two of the best teams in college football. By
the way, Yeah, there's some of those there's those people
who are ticked off they probably were like SEC fans
and they're just upset that there's really no dominant SEC team.
I mean, if you went to for the four best
teams in the country right now, it's probably Ohio State.
I think it's fair to say Oregon, Miami's in there,

(03:22):
and then i'd probably say Penn State.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
The way that game went, Uh yeah, yeah, that's that
makes sense.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
And then I think I think SEC folks get a
little hurt. So what about well, who who you want
to throw in their Obama old miss all right, we
canna start talking about and them, We're gonna start talking
about them then.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Yeah, But you know SEC fans, I mean bitter and
reasonable at times.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Well, you college sports fans have a hard time like
dealing with the here and now, and they kind of
rely on looking back on history. It's like, well, you know,
the SEC was dominating the past couple of years. Now
it's been the Big ten. And they're like, what, no,
it's not like yeah, no, Michigan, that'll have say they
won the national championship. They're like, oh, all right, well

(04:07):
we were dominating before that. It's like, well, yeah, that
doesn't matter now. I mean SC fans they're like no
sc still matters. You're like, no, that was like two
decades ago when you guys were paying people, you know,
and no one else wasn't. Maybe besides the SEC. It's
like that era ended when Pete Carroll left to go
to Seattle. Yeah, no, everybody, no one cares anymore. No
one east of LA cares about Southern California anymore and

(04:29):
their football program.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Funny, I got news for you. Nobody out here cares
about USC and their football program. Okay, and they can
say whatever they want stop all right, it's not the same.
It's not any more close to the same as it was,
and it's not any more close to the same as
it is in the Midwest and in the South. It
just isn't and it's never going to be. So they
can they can, you know, kick rocks or that whole narrative.

(04:51):
But we are going to kick rocks all the way
up until nine am Eastern time, six o'clock Pacific here
on this show. And we are excited to announce a
brand new YouTube channel for the show. Just go to

Speaker 3 (05:24):
Are in the win column.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
Congratulations fins to the left, fins to the right. The
Miami Dolphins going all black unis last night and get
it done against the vaunted New York Jets. And congratulations
Darren Waller's back took some time off, great man, got

(05:46):
divorced time off. Oh that's not tried to tried to
make a rap song. And next thing you know, he's
out there on Monday Night Football during double barrel action
and he's out there catching a couple of touchdowns. So
congrats to Darren Waller. But the story of that game
was the grotesque and brutal, dislocated me of Tyreek Hill.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
Just awful, awful, offul awful man. That looked as bad
as it looks. Although, do you want to share with
the audience of what you texted lavarn I?

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Well, which part I feel like?

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Well, no, no, no, no, I want you to text the
part where I kind of pushed back of it on you.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
Okay, So I was trying to figure out if it
was just the ankle, and this was my thought process.
If it was just the ankle, just tell everyone what
you said, Okay it was, you know, did he if
it was facing in the other direction, is it worse?

Speaker 4 (06:42):
All right?

Speaker 1 (06:43):
So because it was facing inward, does it make it better?
Because you can turn your ankle inward and you know,
maybe it just pops off again. This is when I
thought it was the ankle. And then I can I
read what you texted?

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Sure, Okay, the exact text you said was is it
dislocated slash displaced at the knee or the ankle? Then
isn't it better that it turned in and not out?
Now you can defend yourself in whatever way. My general
point is, did you flipping see how that thing was hanging?

Speaker 3 (07:15):
I didn't.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
It looked like something that as right now. I look
around our neighborhood and people starting to get out their
Halloween decorations, and you know when they put together those
like distorted bodies either up against the wall around their
front yard, that's what it looked like. Yes, Like my
kids were I had it on. My daughters were watching
and they're like, what just happened? And I get we're

(07:38):
not going to go back and watch that, Like that
is as gruesome as it gets.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
I didn't see the other angle until I saw doctor
David Chow posted the video of it and the slow
mo and then I realized, oh god, that's his knee, and.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Yeah, it's like everything in his knee too, by the way,
And the biggest concern is nerve damage. That's why they
rushed him to the hospital because is that when it
bends like that in out whatever direction you're talking about,
there's there's potential for nerve nerve damage, which could be
you know, obviously impact like career ending impact and impacting
his life moving forward.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Mike McDaniel spoke after the game, the head coach of
the Dolphins, about the injury to Tyreek Hill.

Speaker 5 (08:20):
It was a dislocation. He was probably in the best
spirits of any player that I've ever you know, it's
such a terrible experience, but he was. He immediately had
white eyes and was talking, I'm good. Just make sure
the guys get this win, you know, and he's focused

(08:41):
on the team. So outside of that, I'm sure I'll
be giving more information tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
His speed is a superpower. I can't imagine.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
It's not a size.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
Yeah, Like, I.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Can't imagine that he's the same after this, And I
don't want to be doom and gloom about it.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
But when does anybody.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Ever come back and they're the same from an injury
like that?

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Yeah, I can't think of one. I mean, well, Adrian Peterson.
I mean, it wasn't when he towards ACL but right,
it wasn't as gruesome as this. But he did come
back and have that ridiculous season where I believe he
went through over two thousand yards. Although that was kind
of it. He struggled after that. I think there's a
lot of things working against him. He's thirty one years old,

(09:27):
you know. These are the sorts of things that you
know are harder to come by the older you get.
I don't know where he stood with the team. There
was so much chatter and there's a lot of things
that have been said about, you know, his whether it
was his frustrations or his contract, the off the field stuff,
just so many things. I'm not sure how the team

(09:48):
viewed him. So there's just there's a lot of things
up in the air, I think now, and look, the
one thing he has going for him to his advantage
is him being a little smaller size of stature. That
should allow him to come back. And and you know,
it's not like he's a big offensive lineman. He's got
to put a bunch of weight on that. You know,
he's a receiver. But to your point, the cutting, the explosiveness,

(10:12):
all that, you know, to be able to get that back,
it could it could take a couple of years if
it ever comes back.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
It's just like and then you just sort of the
you stereoonne mortality in the eyes because you realize, and
there's probably it's probably shakes players on the field as
well too, who realize, oh, just like that, it could
go like that's it.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
It's like that.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
I mean, that wasn't a weird That wasn't that crazy
of a play. It's like the way he went down,
the way the defender kind of rolled on him, you know,
just it was it can it can happen a point.
I mean, you've dislocated your kneecap before.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
Right, Yeah, that's a that's a great point. Yeah, I
mean it's the same thing also from experience when people were.
I saw somebody made the comment like, yeah, it's dislocated.
Now they're trying to figure out if there's any ligament damage. Hey,
h that's what happens when you dislocate stuff, all right,
When you dislocate stuff, there's ligament damage.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
So that well, you dislocating your kneecap is the patel
is different than you actually dislocating your entire knee. Yeah,
it's a fair point, but like they're not even comparable
to one another, just so you know. Yeah, but I
just so you know, all right, and dislocated my kneecap
all right after my cousin popped it in.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
I got back up, I hit the.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
Free throw and refused an ambulance, all right, I refused
any of that. I hopped in a car, I went
to some vet because the urgent care was closed over
in Monmouth, Illinois, And next thing you know, I was
on the mend and I was never able to walk
the same again. But it led to my hip issues
and all that because I was lazy with my rehab.
But that's you know, it's not about me here. It's

(11:43):
about Tyreek Hill and the fact that that guy's career
is just probably never going to be the same again.
If he's got a career after this, I mean it's
like it's it's bad. So I don't know.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
I mean not trying to be dooming gloom with you
on this one, but hall of fame if this is,
if this is it, I mean he's he's been a
you know, first team All Pro five times, he's been
a Pro Bowl or I think what eight times? Like
I would, I would say he's a shoeing for being
a Hall of Famer. Is that fair to say? Orm?

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Okay, well this is and I guess this is where
this stuff comes in. And I don't know how much
of an impact it should have, but I do think
it should have some impact the off field stuff because
there's a lot, yeah, I know.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
And and so that's what was the past there.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
I get all of that. And look, that's for someone
else to judge and someone else to make that case.
I'm talking purely football. If you look at his resume
purely football, I think it's a Hall of Famer. Yeah,
I think he's he's got the resume for that. That
component's for someone else to judge him on. But I

(12:51):
mean he's won a Super Bowl, you know, he's got
that as part of it as well.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
And by the way, he got better when he went
to Miami. See other part of this to where people say,
oh my god, he's leaving Patrick Mahomes for Tua Tuko
bay Loo. It's like, look at the numbers. He got better.
His numbers got better with Tua.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
He got targeted more. I mean that's that's why he got,
you know, better with Tua. You know, if you go
back to twenty twenty three, I mean he got the
most targets he's ever gotten his career. So like you're
assuming he should go for a lot of yards. He
led the league obviously receiving and touchdown receptions all that.
But when you're when you're getting targeted one hundred and
seventy times, you know a year like you you're gonna

(13:31):
put up a lot of stats.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
In that case, remember when he missed the he missed
one game back that year, and I think he was
just over two hundred yard shy of two thousand, Like
he was a monster that season. Yeah, so I think
he missed a game too, right, Yeah, yeah, he was
one that just he missed that game, Like oh well,
maybe you know that would have been his opportunity to
go to go get the two grand But I just yeah,

(13:54):
it's it's unfortunate you made the comment earlier. You know,
I don't know where he stood with the team, And
we were discussing when the latest legal issues came out
that while there's all these rumblings about him potentially being
traded or that he would be a trade candidate depending
on how the season was going, when that stuff came out,
that probably dimmed any chances of that. And now with this, it's,

(14:16):
you know, Miami's going to have to figure this out
with with Jalen Waddle and with with Darren Waller apparently
who's off the at a retirement and catching touchdowns on
Monday Night football. But I just yeah, it's that's that's
a rough way to go for Tyreek Hill.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
There.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Supposedly he's at the hospital getting test done. If any
of that news comes out or any of that, you know,
more information on the injury comes out, we'll have it
obviously throughout the course of the show. Also should be
pointed out the Jets just aren't good man, Like I
don't you know, And if you want to talk about
a team whose season would be viewed very differently based

(14:53):
on a sixty yard field goal in Game one against
the Pittsburgh Steelers. That's the one because you're now we
look at Pittsburgh and it's like, man, they might actually
win their division and the Jets are sitting at zero
to four and are just the same old Jets. And
if that game goes the other direction, I think it
changes the complete conversation of New York and how they're viewed.

(15:15):
Because last night it wasn't good. They were turning the
ball over. Oh It's just.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
I don't agree with you on that because I think
we see Week one a lot of times. Bad at
football teams are gonna be able to play with better
football teams. We see surprises all the time in the NFL.
Week one. The Jets are not a good football team.
They're a talented team. They've had a lot of good players,
but they are not a good football team. And they're undisciplined.
Thirteen penalties last night, You kidding me? You know? Three fumbles?

(15:41):
Justin fields does some things where you just say, like,
there's not many other guys. If anyone in the league
can do what he can do when he's scrambling around
running for what was at a forty five yard and
fifty yard touchdown, whatever it was. You know, that play
was ridiculous, but you can't live and die by that.
In the NFL, there's just there's so much much to
be desired still in the passing game and just his

(16:04):
you know, evolution as a quarterback, continuing to grow and
adapt and get better in that way, and they just
they're not there yet. So it's I understand it was
a close lost Week one, but that happens. You know again,
there's good there's good football teams who struggle Week one
and then we kind of see what they are. I
think Pittsburgh's a good football team. I don't think the
Jets are. And it's unfortunate because when we picked our

(16:27):
own three teams, you know, I got stuck with the Jets,
and that's why I had to pick. I should have
went with the Giants. But we'll see. I still think
they'll win some football games this year. I'm just I'm
not overly.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
Optimistice And by the way, just so people know a little,
behind the scenes, Brady throws out the idea, Hey, let's
let's find an own three team and we have to
sell them as having hope for the remainder of the season,
and so the obvious choice was the Texans. Just yeah,
I was the first to respond. I knew that was

(16:58):
the obvious choice. I took the Dolphins. He's like, nah,
I don't want to take the Texans. That's the obvious one.
LaVar couldn't get the Texans out fast.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
Enough like he had to. Houston was his pick.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
And then you know, Brady got stuck with the Jets
and you know, did an admirable job trying to trying
to sell them. Now, Sauce Gardner, the guy that you
that you backed as an zero to three participant potentially
making a run.

Speaker 4 (17:21):
He has a theory, all right.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
He's got this theory.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
About bad teams and calls against bad teams.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
Let's take a listen.

Speaker 6 (17:28):
I watched football all the times, and I just feel like,
I don't know if this is wrong in a state,
but I think I get called for more stuff just
just based off for of us and just not winning.
Watch he's winning programs, and it'd be some egregious things
and it don't get caught like you know, Lendon players
play like I I got called him something today where
it's like I know the rout everything, and I'm just

(17:50):
supposed letting just push all that tother roud on seeing
kind of steps all that, Like he's not going to
catch the ball the girl. That's kind I just feel
like he generally, even in Mike Evans one just feel
like us not winning. It's just it's just what goes on,
like it. We don't win and feel like we don't
get the calls that we should get, and we get

(18:10):
called for the calls that we probably shouldn't get called for.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
See NFL's version of Boo came first the chicken or
the egg.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
I don't know, he might be onto something. I think
that there's a lot of people who have who've played
Philadelphia this year and they would say that like their
dbs are getting away with murder on the field. That
was starting to become kind of a thing on social
media going around that Philly for whatever reason, they're not
getting called for defensive pointing, for for DPI and I
don't know, I mean it goes on forever. In the NBA.

(18:40):
You know, the star player seems to get the tick
attack calls, you know, Meanwhile other guys get beat to
crap and they don't get anything. So maybe he's onto
something with that. I think there's just a greater variety
of officiating and that's probably the biggest difference. Is some
crews tend to call more, some crews ten to call less,
and that he usually has more to do with it

(19:01):
than anything else. But maybe he's onto something here.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
I mean, listen, man, you're just not a good team.
And yeah, there's gonna be some calls, you know, but
as long as the check still cash, who cares?

Speaker 4 (19:12):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (19:13):
Like, as long as you're getting checks like what you
just you know, take the l's. They're not going to
the playoffs. It's another losing season for New York. And
I'm almost positive, if memory serves me correct, this was
the Jets team this year. This Jets was the team
that LeVar backed. All right, this is the one. Yeah,
not any of the prosy ones, but this one.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
Again we go back to the AFCAST Division and he
was out on the Patriots. I think he had them
finishing fourth. I think that's what his pick was. Yeah,
maybe third or fourth, but that isn't going to work
out well for him. I would say this about the Dolphins.
Mike McDaniel was in his bag last night him. I
mean some of those play designs, the two of them, Dude,

(19:56):
the little nifty flip back on that on the reverse,
that sick. I mean it was. It was one of
the more entertaining, like offensive games, at least from the
Miami standpoint that I'd seen from Mike McDaniel and his staff.
So kudos to them. Man, that was a you know,
Monday in football is a big stage. They showed out
and in the uniforms everything else lost one of their

(20:17):
best players, still found a way to win. So uh,
that was a good win for Miami and maybe a
spark something for this team moving forward.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
And look, you know, I'm not trying to to go
back on selling this zero to three team that was
the Dolphins before last night. But you know, they're at
the Panthers next, they've got the Chargers, who are banged up.
They're at the Browns after that, they got the Falcons.
Those are some games they could win. Like they they
are not complete, they're not going to the playoffs, not happening,
but at least they can have a respectable record potentially

(20:45):
at the end of this whole thing. So there's some
winnable games from Miami and the Chargers are you know out,
you know Joe Alton Now he's going to be gone,
So there's there's a chance that they could make a
little bit of a run here going a heater, and
and I might actually get a pick right for you
change of this show.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
So who knows.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
By the way, we are brought to you by Home Depot.
Everyone knows. First impressions start with the first coat. That's
why you can trust Kills Primers for a smooth and
professional finish. Kills Primers now available exclusively at the Home Depot.
If you're a pro, you know, sponsored by the Home Depot.
All right, so we are going to have the usuals
coming up later on. Dean Blandino is going to stop by.
We've got lots to discuss with him about some of

(21:23):
the calls that were made in the NFL and in
college football. This weekend, we're also going to have another
edition of In case you missed it, We've got the leftovers.
All of it is yours here on this three hour
extravaganza up next though, Yeah, one team should really start
to worry about any chance at a playoff run. Based
on what we watched in the last twenty four hours.

(21:45):
We'll get into that for you right here on FSR.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
We are going to have our tire Iraq play of
the day coming up here.

Speaker 1 (23:02):
In just a moment, Adam Schefter did report a short
time ago was confirmed not only did Tyreek Kill dislocate
his knee last night, tore multiple ligaments including his ACL
so he remains hospitalized and will undergo surgery today. So
I mean that's minimum year plus.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
Yeah, I'd say so. Nerve damage is the biggest concern,
hopefully the fact that if Schefter didn't mention it, then
that means he's he's safe in that respect. So it's good.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
That's rough.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
But right now it is time for the tire rack
play of the day.

Speaker 3 (23:40):
To a relative. Is right Waller open touchdown his second
of the night.

Speaker 4 (23:45):
Who is that man, Darren Waller?

Speaker 3 (23:49):
Wide open?

Speaker 1 (23:50):
There is Miami Dolphins. There you go, Darren Waller on
the touchdown. That is Fox Sports Radio affiliate Fox Sports
nine Dolphins Radio network on the call.

Speaker 3 (24:02):
That's your tire rack play the day.

Speaker 1 (24:03):
For over forty years, Tyraq has been helping customers find
the right tires for how, what and where they drive

protection with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation, tire

Speaker 2 (24:17):
Can we get a run of applause for you? I
mean not many people can segue from guys, you know,
me getting completely torn up right into the play of
the day so joyfully like you did there.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
Mom.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
Mean, he's gonna well done.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
You know, He's not gonna be walking anywhoere. He's gonna
have to drive so but hopefully on some tire reck tires.

Speaker 4 (24:36):
You know.

Speaker 3 (24:37):
I'm trying to. I mean, I'm trying.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
And by the way, I'll say this right now, Tyreek Hill,
right now, at this very moment, could beat me in
a forty yard dash right now, guaranteed, guarantee.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
I don't I think I've seen you even jog. I
think I've only seen you walk.

Speaker 1 (24:53):
Yeah, not a you know, not if it's not if
there's not a reason to do it, then I'm not
going to.

Speaker 4 (24:59):
It's just not of him.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
I just all cruise, you know, unless we're out my
son and I are hitting bombs, then that's a whole
nother story. Then we're then we're getting after it. But
did the Cincinnati Bengals just have no hope at this
point without Joe Burrow?

Speaker 2 (25:16):
It feels like that. I mean, I don't know that.
I mean, you could make the case that no player
is more important their team than Joe Burrow. I mean,
I'm being dead serious, by the way, Like you could
throw Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts Ah, maybe throw Josh Allen
in there. Maybe Josh Allen's in that category too.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
Lamar Jackson, We're gonna Lamar Jackson.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
I don't know. I mean, it'd be nice if they had,
you know, another backup in there, like if they went
after Russell or Jamis. But uh, you know, it's just
their their chances of anything are just it goes right
out the window. I mean, that's how exposed they get
when Burrow's not a part of that team, because that
is not a good football team, not with Burrow. I mean,

(26:00):
and the Broncos, look, they didn't get off to the
start we thought they were going to. They looked a
little better last night. I just I'm not sure that
they're you know, a playoff team in the AFC at
this point. And then they don't have to be. There's
plenty of time left to get better. But it's still
watching them. It's just it does there's that leaves a
lot to be desired. I'll just put it that way.

Speaker 1 (26:19):
I was listening the other night, uh, Chris Plank and
Arnie Spanier, the Great Chris Plank and the other guy,
Arnie Spanier, and Plank made the point that if it
goes sideways, does Cincinnati start to rethink what they're playing
is at quarterback? Because the Burrow's not going to be
around for you know, two and a half three months?
Then do they start because and we talked about it yesterday,

(26:43):
the division is still kind of up for grabs and
they're sitting at two and two, and so it's not
it's it's not like they're just out of it. There
are options out there if they if they wanted to
pull the trigger on a Russell Wilson, a Kirk like
I don't. I'm just trying to think who would make
the most ends and would be an upgrade at the
position that could at least keep them alive or keep

(27:05):
them afloat until Joe Burrow potentially comes back later in
the year. In that offense, was Zach Taylor, Like, like,
who would be the best option out there if they
were going to go in another direction, if they didn't
think Jake Browning was the.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
Guy again, like Jamis Winston being on the Giants and
not being utilized is the first name that comes to
mind if for Russell Wilson's still the backup the Jackson dart.
So I look at it, I just say, all right,
this cannot like be a better situation for Jamis to
come in and play and potentially keep the Bengals hopes

(27:40):
alive for the playoffs, because right now they've got no
hope and it's not cold enough outside for us to
see the snow or stormtrooper outfit. So that's not helping
things either.

Speaker 4 (27:49):
Good point.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
I mean I was helping morale of the team. I'm
not sure it's helping anymore.

Speaker 4 (27:53):
No, not at all.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
And it's not like their defense isn't need to write
home about that's going to keep them in games.

Speaker 4 (27:59):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
Hell, I'd say, I'd say mac Jones if if the
forty nine ers are so dead set on you know,
Brock Purdy, mac Jones, Stepton got a couple of wins.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
It just Man, you start to look at that division
and you go Baltimore and Cincinnati just based on quarterback
injuries and and just sort of the health of the team.
I mean, those were super Bowl contenders, like legitimate Super
Bowl possible possibilities to get into a super Bowl this year.
And both those teams within a couple of weeks of

(28:31):
the season are looking at it going it's going to
be an uphill battle, like and I just and you
make the point that is there any quarterback more valuable
to his team. Just the difference in Cincinnati and the
hope that they have with Joe Burrow in the lineup
and with him out is.

Speaker 4 (28:46):
Just so drastic.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
And I don't know, I don't know if we got
teased into thinking Jake Browning, you know, with him at quarterback,
and it's not so much a knock on him. There's
just such a difference between him and Joe Burrow that
a couple of years years ago, when you know they
went on a little bit of a run with him
at quarterback, it was like, well, no, they could, they
could at least stay alive, you know, this is probably
the best option for him. And I'm looking at it

(29:10):
going they just need to still be in contention by
the time Burrow comes back, and then it would make
some sense for him to even give it a try
or give it a whirl. But until then, I just
look at him and go, they there's just no hope
and their defense is not great. And you still see
last night like they've got weapons on the outside. You've

(29:30):
got Jamar Chase, You've got t Higgins. I mean, if
Jameis Winston's the guy, plus would be fun. Man, be
fun to have Jamis Winston.

Speaker 2 (29:38):
It'd be great guys. Yeah, it'd be great fun to watch.

Speaker 9 (29:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (29:41):
So and then, uh, I don't know, like.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
I said, I just maybe maybe I'm uh, maybe the
Giants would be one to move on from him. I mean,
who else is out there that you think would be
able to come in and get them some wins that
has some starting experience. Kirk Cousins, It's gonna come with
a heavy price tag though. Yeah, that's the tough part
about that one. You know, you look at the difference

(30:04):
between Jameis Winston and Kirk Cousins. I mean it's it
was a quadruple. That might be like understanding the difference
in how much you're paying. So I don't know. I
mean that would that would be a tough trade to
make happen.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
And and by the way, I heard the way you
mentioned that, like do you have to keep bringing up
the price tag with the angles? You know how that
fan base gets all right, we don't need to let's
not pocket watch here because they get real sensitive about you.

Speaker 2 (30:30):
Know, Steve, I didn't say it, those are your words,
but yes, yes, a cheap organization like that is not
looking for that sort of expensive backup to come in
and you know, spot work or spot duty before Joe
Berg gets healthy.

Speaker 3 (30:43):
So Kirk Cousins ten million dollars or whatever.

Speaker 1 (30:46):
The option was, whatever the option was for this year,
probably wouldn't make sense for them. Yeah, Jameis Winston, Hey,
just start looking around.

Speaker 2 (30:55):
Uh, Winston would be perfect for that team with those
two players in the outside, like just bombs, just ripping
it downfield. And plus he give him a lift. Now,
he's the type of that, you know personality that is
that high tide that comes in raises all boats. It'd
be awesome to see him in there. Can you imagine
eating ws in Cincinnati, the nasty natty. Yeah, that'd be

(31:18):
something they would love it. I mean, they'd be drinking
beers with the fans knowing no one consumes more alcohol
than that fan base.

Speaker 1 (31:24):
Right, and plus he's been you know, he's been in
the division before, so you know he knows, he knows
those teams. Uh, get out there and people forget Man,
he was putting up big numbers when he had weapons
on the outside to throw to when he was in Tampa.
All right, Sali, he hasn't done it before. Didn't he
throw for five five thousand yards?

Speaker 2 (31:41):
Five thousand yards over thirty touchdowns? Now that came with
thirty picks, But hey, with with with the good comes back?

Speaker 1 (31:48):
Yeah, you don't want to take both sides heat, Yeah,
you can't. Like people are too negative. Stop focusing on
the thirty picks. Focus on the five grand in the
air and the thirty plus touchdowns. All right, And he
was eating w's and everybody loves the guy like that's
that's a boost. That would instantly upgrade the position and
it will at least keep them keep them afloat until
Joe Burrow comes back. I'm in Jameis Winston makes sense.

(32:09):
And the trade deadline, I believe is around Halloween every year,
so they've got they got about a month to try
and get through this and see if they're still alive.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
Was there a proposal to move it back a week?
Did I remember seeing that this offseason?

Speaker 3 (32:23):
I think so.

Speaker 1 (32:25):
Yeah, I think so, because they thought, why are we
still using the same trade deadline when we've added an
extra week in the season, Like, why not, you know,
move it back a week so at least teams have
a little bit more of an understanding where they're at.

Speaker 2 (32:37):
But yeah, I think they might have moved to back
a week because it's now November fourth of that Tuesday
at four pm.

Speaker 1 (32:43):
Yeah, so I mean, listen, they got some time and
Jameis Winston's out there, so it is two pros and

Speaker 9 (34:16):
I do have a T shirt. I do have a
T shirt. I'm not gonna lie. I don't know what
I was thinking, but I my heart just led my
credit card.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
I don't know what to Why are you a Saans fan?

Speaker 3 (34:27):
That's embarrassing. Brady? Where are you? Okay?

Speaker 2 (34:31):
Hold on, hold on, hold on, Brie? Where are you from?

Speaker 9 (34:34):
I need to meet California?

Speaker 2 (34:36):
Okay, So how do you become a Saints fan?

Speaker 9 (34:38):
Well, okay, growing up my whole family there were USC fans.
So I grew up watching Reggie Bush right, and then
so when he got drafted, I didn't have a team.
I was a Dolphins fan because I liked the dolphin
on the helmet. And then because I was like, you know,
five years old, six years old, I needed a team,
and I just I fell in love with the Saints.
Drew Brees went there and Reggie Bush went there. That

(34:58):
offense was exciting.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
You know, you do realize like before Breeze got there,
it was awful, like it was, it was not good
to be a Saints fan.

Speaker 9 (35:09):
So I was there for the second coming, you know,
the new wave. I was excited. It was a good time.

Speaker 1 (35:15):
You know, do you know who? Boy, do you know
who Bobby A Bear is? I do. I don't look
up look up the video because you know, there's this
rule in the press box, like if you're a member
of the media, you can't root for a team.

Speaker 4 (35:27):
You got to you got to keep quiet up there.

Speaker 1 (35:28):
There's a video I think it's Bobby A Bear when
the Saints score touchdown. He's like giving people the bird
like he was a former player analyst. It's a really
great video where he's at the Superdome and uh and listen,
we were there in New Orleans. Boy, they're they're really
really supportive of the team. There lots lots of stuff.

Speaker 9 (35:47):
A lots of merchandise to buy people stuff to.

Speaker 1 (35:50):
Uh, you know, like none anywhere and anywhere at all.
There was no Saints stuff anywhere.

Speaker 3 (35:55):
You guys, did see Drew.

Speaker 9 (35:56):
Brees when you were there right in the like super
Bowl area, was walking around?

Speaker 2 (35:59):
It was Yeah, he was similar days but trying to
make a claim for why he should be on TV.
And I think it's almost like he forgets didn't he
have a shot with NBC? Yeah, And then it's like
what do you think that was?

Speaker 1 (36:12):
You know?

Speaker 9 (36:13):
Yeah, and he's gonna have another shot too, coming soon, right.

Speaker 3 (36:17):
Which I'm sure he's doing one of the games and.

Speaker 9 (36:20):
First Take every week. Yeah, okay, sorry, guys, totally got distracted. Okay,
So Paul Finebaum, sec network host, said that he would
consider it leaving ESPN to run for the US Senate.
Then he would run as a Republican to fill the
seat vacated by former Auburn football coach Tommy Tuberville. He
has about thirty to forty five days to make that decision.

(36:40):
So what do you guys think about that?

Speaker 4 (36:42):
What do you think he's doing their Brady, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
Here's there's so many things that play here. You know.
Trump obviously winning the presidency leads a lot of people
to think, well, I don't need any experience in politics
to be able to do it and be successful. And
then there's some others too. But I'm not sure. I'm
not sure what his motivation is behind it. Maybe he
feels motivated to help our country, which if anyone wants

(37:08):
to get into politics for that reason, that's awesome. That's
an awesome I don't care which side of the asle
you're on, that's awesome. If you want to do that
or what what are you gonna say now?

Speaker 4 (37:18):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (37:19):
Or he's trying the same approach that Dan Orlovsky tried.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
That reci but that never works. That never works, buddy,
You don't get it. Though. He'll make a tenth of
what he's getting paid to go work in politics, and
he'll probably hate it. He'll probably hate that. I also
think it may it may speak to this. I think
we've gotten to a point where there's some people who

(37:43):
are fed up with the people that are representing us,
and when there becomes an opportunity to get in one
of his positions to be a politician, they take it
because they're tired of seeing the lack of decorum. They're
tired of seeing that the lack of whether it's policy
or whatever else it is. Like, I think people are
getting disgusted with the people who are actually politicians, and

(38:04):
they're trying to get some of these people out, I mean,
or trying to at least join, you know, and get
into politics to try to help become the solution. At
least that's my hope.

Speaker 9 (38:13):
What else we got, bree So, NBC and YouTube TV
are far apart on like contract negotiations. YouTube TV wants
to acquire like all of the peacock programming is part
of a new deal, and NBC is pushing back on that,
and so we have until probably actually, yeah, today, today's

(38:34):
like the last day, and so tomorrow they don't come
up with it, then all the kind of all YouTube
users will lose access to Sunday Night Football and college football.

Speaker 1 (38:42):
Program and the challenge after Sunday Night Football, Son of
a Bitch, Yeah.

Speaker 9 (38:46):
Great blues two weeks ago, Jonas, what were you wearing?

Speaker 3 (38:49):
That's my favorite show?

Speaker 2 (38:50):
What's the challenge?

Speaker 3 (38:51):
Oh to you know? A little?

Speaker 2 (38:52):
Uh with Petro So you used to have the pig on.

Speaker 3 (38:55):
There used to be and Frogan you used to be.

Speaker 2 (38:58):
Yeah, they were great.

Speaker 1 (38:59):
Now a City Walk and uh, and we do it.

Speaker 2 (39:02):
Who's on that show?

Speaker 1 (39:03):
Myself, Mario, Mario Salise and Olivia Garb therere a golf
guy too.

Speaker 2 (39:08):
Where do you go Mario Sale?

Speaker 1 (39:10):
Mario Salice is a local sports reporter and host out
here in southern California. Olivia Garvey you probably recognized the
last name, Steve Garvey's daughter who has a fine job
on on CANBC. And so we do that show from
City Walk and so if YouTube TV and they can't.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
You have one daughter or multiple daughters?

Speaker 3 (39:29):
I'm not sure.

Speaker 2 (39:29):
Did you say Olivia Harvey or Garvey Garvey? Okay, yeah,
you mean like Steve Harvey's daughters.

Speaker 1 (39:35):
No, great great Steve Harvey, who I believe used to
do shows in this studio.

Speaker 4 (39:39):
If I'm not mistaken.

Speaker 3 (39:40):
It's a beautiful portrait of him in the next Yeah,
so I'm.

Speaker 2 (39:42):
Sorry, whose daughter is Olivia Garvey?

Speaker 4 (39:45):
Steve Garvey the baseball Steve Garvey?

Speaker 2 (39:47):
Yeah, okay, so Steve Garvey, the player, not Steve Harvey. Okay,
Steve Garvey.

Speaker 3 (39:53):
Got there?

Speaker 2 (39:53):
Yeah, that was enough. I'm not in LA. Folks obviously
have no idea what's going on here. I just know
whatever I called Jonas, he doesn't pick up the actperally.

Speaker 4 (40:01):
Big.

Speaker 3 (40:02):
I don't know what to tell you, man, I'm.

Speaker 2 (40:03):
Swamped, trust me, I get it. Five kids.

Speaker 3 (40:07):
Things are wild at here.

Speaker 4 (40:09):
You know.

Speaker 1 (40:09):
I don't know what to tell you, man. You know,
this is this is the life we chose, man, life
we chose.

Speaker 4 (40:14):
Who's we You and I, Babe? Who's we you and

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
