second best team in the NFC North. I know Vikings

do think that Minnesota can they can contend for it.

But I certainly think that after last night, it is
a foregone conclusion that Detroit is solidified as the best
team in the NFC.

last night was for a couple of things. Dan Campbell,
all the criticism we got after the NFC title game,

too that. I just love the fact that he's like,

the sword kind of mentality.

they were able to have kept Aaron Jones and brought
in Josh Jacobs, because that's what you're seeing with Detroit.

of backs, but my goodness, that is such a dynamic
backfield they have.

They stay healthy, those two guys stay healthy, and you're
always going to have a chance because Jared Goff doesn't

with what those backs bring to the table, and they

to open up your offense. And it is such a

headache for a defense to have to deal with that
type of a backfield. You remember when they had all
stot and Wark done in the same backfield I used
to have. I loved I loved it, but I hated
it at the same time because there's so many different
things that they can do with those types of backs,
and they bring such different skill sets to the table.

they've done. I thought jamyor Gibbs was dope in college.

was like, why why isn't he talked about more than

evaluate the tape, move on how I proceed to evaluate

To me, I mean, here's the truth of like playing.
One of the reasons why sliding, to me, was never
a way to protect yourself is because you leave your
entire upper body exposed. And I'm not saying everyone is
going to go back and look at my tape and

how I used to do that, But I would always
dive head first because I feel like I could dive
underneath tackles and kind of avoid taking those hits. And
for whatever reason the NFL kee's pushing this whole slide slide.
I mean, think about it too. You don't even get
the ball as close to where you would if you

dove forward. You get the ball where the ball's at,
you know, when you begin to start your slide and
giving yourself up. That's what the officials are actually instructed
to spot the football. So obviously your legs are way
ahead of where the ball actually is. So not only
does it not make sense from a safety standpoint, it
doesn't even make sense from a playing standpoint to get
the spot or get the ball further up the field.

But I know there's a lot of guys who's who
have advocated for that, saying take out the slide because
it doesn't matter either way. It's hard on the defenders. Uh,
the quarterbacks aren't really protected from it. They'd be better
off just diving head first or diving in a different direction,
maybe maybe the right.

the ball off to the right and I'm in a
situation like where it's short yarded your goal line. Typically
you stagger your feet, so your right foot is for
your left foot's back, and reason being is you want
to be able to get at least one of your

feet to.

So, if I'm not mistaken, he's spun like he pairowetted
to and hand his football off to the right. So
typically your left foot should be further back because that's
the one that you're going to pick up last, as
you can of like spinning pirouette. No different, if it
was going left, you'd switch it. Your left fot would
before your right foot would be back. I'd have to
go back and look. It didn't look like he had

him staggered enough. But you literally will see quarterbacks stagger
their feet like that just so they won't get him
stepped on, because they know one of those guards on
either side, whichever whichever way the ball is going, that
backside guards gotta go and he's probably gonna step on
your foot. So that's usually why you stagger him. I
never knew that. I never knew that if you, like

most d linemen, if they ever really really paid attention,
they'd be able to see the tell. But again, this
is stuff that quarterbacks studying, can see defensive guys studying
just saying different levels there, different levels.

to start, that guard pull from not pulling.

So that way, when that left guard is trying to

to left to be the right guard, my right foot
would be back.

things that they can do with those types of backs,

The Zone in Nashville, explaining his logic behind the decision.

evaluate the tape, move on how I proceed to evaluate

To me, I mean, here's the truth of like playing.
One of the reasons why sliding, to me, was never
a way to protect yourself is because you leave your
entire upper body exposed. And I'm not saying everyone is
going to go back and look at my tape and

how I used to do that, But I would always
dive head first because I feel like I could dive
underneath tackles and kind of avoid taking those hits. And
for whatever reason the NFL kee's pushing this whole slide slide.
I mean, think about it too. You don't even get
the ball as close to where you would if you

dove forward. You get the ball where the ball's at,
you know, when you begin to start your slide and
giving yourself up. That's what the officials are actually instructed
to spot the football. So obviously your legs are way
ahead of where the ball actually is. So not only
does it not make sense from a safety standpoint, it
doesn't even make sense from a playing standpoint to get
the spot or get the ball further up the field.

But I know there's a lot of guys who's who
have advocated for that, saying take out the slide because
it doesn't matter either way. It's hard on the defenders. Uh,
the quarterbacks aren't really protected from it. They'd be better
off just diving head first or diving in a different direction,
maybe maybe the right.
