Two Pros and a cup of Joe. Fox Sports Radio,
LeVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Coming up on this.
Speaker 1 (00:05):
Tuesday edition, we're gonna look back at Monday Night football,
Philip Rivers out there dealing. Unfortunately he was the only
one because Brock Purty and the forty nine ers put
it on him. And believe it or not, the forty
nine ers have a couple of award winners on their
team despite all the injuries. We'll get into that. We're
also going to have a conversation elsewhere in the Indianaverse
(00:26):
California football battle, the inexplicable decision made by the USC
Trojans to end their rivalry with Notre Dame. We'll get
into that. We're also going to have a conversation about
DK Metcalf and what could be I don't know, just
your run of the mill, forty five million dollar costly
altercation with a fan in Detroit. Plus, we've got another
(00:47):
edition of In case you missed it. We've also got
the Great Dean Blandino stopping by, and we've got the leftovers.
It's all yours coming up next here, Two Pros and
a cup of Joe on a Tuesday Fox Sports Radio.
Oh hell yeah, sticks?

How we feel?
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Okay, keep saying what's up to me? Yeah? Okay? Excited? Man?
Did I miss that pissed a memo? What exactly is
the memo trying to get you excited?
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Let's go for what we're touching, Philip Rivers slanging it
I don't get it. I mean, brock Purtty was better,
but still.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Yeah, I'm trying to understand. Like I saw y'all texting
and all this stuff.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
I'm like, what, Like, what's the big what's the big deal? Yeah,
what's the big deal about Philip Rivers?
Speaker 2 (02:26):
I mean, is it because he's old as hell and
through for two years?
Speaker 3 (02:29):
Yeah? Well and and five years like not being in it.
I mean it's it's been a while and he gets
out there, he's playing effective, he's playing well. I would
actually argue this if he was like in question for
being a Hall of Famer. I know they got stopped
out last night. I think there was more about the
Colts defense than anything else, maybe the forty nine ers
(02:50):
offense and brock Purty. But if you were on the
fence about him as a Hall of Famer, then are
you kind of like, man, he should get in, Like
it's it's pretty awesome, like watching him take a five
year hiatus come back and like, at least give this
team a chance.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Right now? He was pretty good last night. Man. I
have no issues with with Philip Rivers, but I mean
they lost.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
Something about those uniforms reminded me of Jared Lorenzo though,
and I'm just saying he does look.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
At well, have to hear in that blue man he
was bigger than that. Jared.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
Yeah, I know, I know, I'm just saying it. It's
like it reminds you. It reminds you a little bit
of it, you know. And the way he was moving
around a little bit last night to his fleet to foot.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
You know, to y'all Troy Aikman seemed like he was
concerned for his well being watching him.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
There was moments. I'm just saying, the way he kind
of moves up in the pocket.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Okay, I mean, it was an interesting game, and you know,
getting a seat Philip Rivers play again, and his twenty
kids at in attendance to the game. I mean, it
was it was great. It was great, man, it was
great to see it. It was great for football, it
was great for humanity. It was just great. So yeah,
(04:16):
I mean, I'm I'm I'm pretty happy that you guys
are happy and excited about Philip Rivers and his his
effort last night. But I don't want to bury the lead.
San Francisco is. I feel like they are the biggest
I just don't know team like all right, you got
(04:40):
your regular your regular cast of guys.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
Right, like your regular checks.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
I mean, geez, Like, I can't understand how three dudes
that could go up top are the reason why the
forty nine ers are winning. It's it's U.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
On top. Yeah, the white men can't jump.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
I just figured I just figured i'd do that because
that was all this. I just figure I messed with
y'all because y'all have been messing with me since started.
Though it's interesting, you got a tight end. They know,
they know Brocket is going to him, and he is
just forcing himself to be open and to make plays.
(05:27):
And McCaffrey, like, I can only imagine how much the
defenders want to jack McCaffrey up and they can't, and
they can't do it well because he's a pretty boy.
He's a pretty boy, he married a pretty chick. He's
got this, he's got a great narrative to him. You know,
(05:48):
he seems like he's.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
And white tax.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
I mean, based on your algorithm and stuff, even sending
I'm just saying I get it.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
What what do you mean?
Speaker 3 (06:00):
What was I based on your algorithm stuff? You were
setting the text chaines yesterday, I could I could see that.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
See what what did I send you yesterday?
Speaker 3 (06:08):
Let me see? Yeah, back to you.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
All I'll say is is, yeah, it just seems as
though they shouldn't be able to win. Like you don't
have You don't have guys like you don't have. You
really don't have a one receiver. You don't you don't
have a legitimate receiver. I don't feel like they have
(06:36):
a legitimate receiver.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
Did anyone see the video of Brendan a Yuk driving
by uh by? Is it still lead up in Levi Stadium?
I believe driving by flying at like one hundred miles
an hour the other day.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
I didn't see it.
Speaker 4 (06:51):
Not a bit of a concern, but apparently driving fast
and I wasn't good shouts out to him.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
I mean, you know they tried, Yeah, they tried to
figure out the receiver position and that happened.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
So it's not like they drafted Ricky Piersoll.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
That's true. Up top again, listen and this guy's looking.
This guy's risking life and limb for a Rolex. I mean,
that's the kind of white tax he's getting on the
streets of San Francisco. And yet they're out there with
a chance to be the one seed.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
It's working. Whatever it is, it's working, I mean, maybe
make the NFL great again. I don't know, like it's
it's working for. It's working for the forty nine ers,
So good lucking bless?
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Can I throw Can I throw this out? Granted I
just watched b Jon Robinson go over two thousand scrimmage yards,
so I think there's If there's a case to be
made for a player for Offensive Player of the Year,
it would, in my opinion, be him at the running
back over McCaffrey. The differences with the mcaf free, it's
(08:01):
a few things won the team. I believe if San
Francisco wins out, they can actually be the top seed
in the NFC. Did I see that right? Yeah, So
that's still on the table for them. The other thing
is McCaffrey's not that far behind. So if you look
at what his total numbers were last night when he
had what a twenty nine receiving and over one hundred rushing,
(08:25):
So he's he's going to be at like I want
to say, like eighteen you know, one hundred and some
almost nineteen hundred scrimmage yards. He's I mean, he's been
phenomenous year. I know the rushing yards haven't been as
big as it's been in the past, but he's going
to get He's already over one thousand for the season,
(08:45):
so has two games left. He's going to be over
two thousand scrimmage yards he's got, I believe is it au?
I think sixteen total touchdowns like he He's put together
quietly another incredible year, and I don't think he gets
enough credit for it. And mind you not to take
(09:06):
anything away from brock Purty, brock Purty played phenomenal last night.
He was lights out. He's at times played phenomenal this season.
But the one constant because we all kind of forget
they're in this position. Mac Jones played great too, why
Purty was out, But McCaffrey's been the constant. He's the
one that's been there, regardless of whoever's hurt, regardless of
(09:27):
you know, whoever stepping up a wide receiver or not,
even with the defensive injuries. If they need to shootout,
he's been there. I don't think he gets enough conversation
about the impact of the role he's played for this
team still being a contention for the number one overall seed,
he's been incredible.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Running away with Comeback Player of the Year as far
as the betting odds go on DraftKings sitting at I.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
Mean, hold on, you guys, tell me if you could
assuredly win the Comeback Player of the Year right now,
would you take that or would you be like, now,
I'm gonna finish that the last two games, try to
win the m v P or try to win the
offensive player there and that's what you can't win both.
Probably that's the last time that's happened. Usually usually divided up.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
Yeah, it's like everybody's got to get Yeah, everybody's got
to get Yeah, everyone's participating.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
We got to Jackson Smith and Jigba is the favorite
right now.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Offensive Player of the Year.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
Poka Nku is uh sitting second, and then uh, then
you've got McCaffrey who's third, but he's at ten to
one right now. McCaffrey ten to one is actually that's
probably a good bet. Like if they if they go
strong with an opportunity to get that one seed, and
it's gonna be on my shoulders like yeah, strong, damn right, listen, man,
(10:44):
I know there is a They got into the conversation
about Coach of the Year last evening. I feel like
this might be one of the best years in terms
of competition to that award.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
Great point. How many great jobs have have these guys
out here been doing. Man, I mean, it's it's uh,
it's it's very nice to see a renaissance up to me.
I know Q and and Jonas, I know y'all don't
value coaches over players. But to me, an old school guy,
I value coaching, value value leadership and super old man
(11:22):
and I feel it yet whoa, whoa, Yeah, So I
just I value coaching and leadership. And to see some
of these teams that have not had a real opportunity
(11:42):
to improve, not had a a competitive year, to see
them all like at one time, like I didn't think
that we would be seeing a new England Patriots team
return to being a competitive team, not to this capacity,
not to this degree. You know, you know Bears that
(12:03):
you look at them and it's they They're a disappointment
year in and year out. They just find a way
to disappoint you. The Jaguars, they find a way to
disappoint you. And you're wondering where Denver Broncos like, where
they you know, where they going to be able to
figure out how to start winning again. It's just been
really really nice to watch good coaching. And it's interesting
(12:27):
because it exposes bad coaching. If you ask me, it
exposes bad coaching. It exposes bad culture because a lot
of this has to do more with culture than it
does to do with anything else. And these guys are
are guys that seemingly when you see their interaction with
the players, you can tell that there is a genuine
(12:49):
respect for one another and genuine and admiration for one
another when you see it. I thought the cheese Greater
hat was freaking brilliant. I don't know who came up
with it, but just to have little things that build
the confidence of the environment that you're in, the belief
(13:12):
of the environment the environment that you're in. I've really
enjoyed it as a former coach. As somebody, maybe it's
because I've had a coaching hat on more recent than
a player's at but as a former coach, it's really
cool to see that that can actually still be be
something that one exists, but two it actually proves the
(13:34):
point that if you can build a relationship with your
players and you can have a plan, and you can
structure the team the way you need destructure the team,
run it the way you need to run it, you'll win.
Like it's always been like a simple formula in my
estimation to being successful and seeing seeing these guys do
(13:58):
it and what great guys to do it right. I
don't know all of them, but I know a few
of them pretty good guys to to be, you know,
doing it too.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
So you can make a legitimate argument for Rabel, you
can make a legitimate argument for Liam Cohen, Ben Johnson,
Kyle Shanahan, Mike McDonald, Like there's like.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
Dude, McDonald's flown under the radar, Yeah, under the radar.
Is there a head coach that gets less appreciation than
Mike McDonald.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
It's just kind of it's just kind of thing's just there. Yeah,
it's just there. Yeah. Yeah. I mean a few times
they says now it's like who I was like, oh
oh oh yeah, yeah yeah, I was like McDonald.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
Dave Canalis too, Like there's like there's been some some
really good jobs done by coach big around.
Speaker 4 (14:47):
Then.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
By the way, the origin of the the hat that
it's a foam they're called foam party hats. It was
started by an owner of the company named Manuel Rojas
and uh DJ Moore. He made it most famous after
the game, wearing it in the locker room, which many
people saw. But then Caleb Williams or the next day
(15:11):
at a charity event, and that even draw drew a
spike in sales and just more attention with it. So
that's what the Cheese Greater hat. There's the origin of it.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
By the way, I'm seeing, there'd be moving on forty bucks.
If you want to get one of these Cheese Greater hats,
that's bad.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
It's got to move. That's ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
Jonas would never buy that. That's forty bucks.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
I mean, yeah, what else did you get dollars on?
For you?
Speaker 1 (15:35):
What else do I spend the forty dollars on?
Speaker 2 (15:37):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
Yeah, give me a list.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
You could probably get a hooker for cheaper than that.
You can start saving for a new tube.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
You could. You definitely could from what out here. Not
that's not the one you want, though, Jonas, I'm not
going Cheese Greater have for forty dollars.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
When Laura and I were driving driving into studio in
Las Vegas and he just he'd see some Ladies of
the Night in the street and he'd.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
Oh my god, forty bucks.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
It could be changed back.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
Yeah please, We were just trying to that you ain't
coming back. We were trying to find the market value,
and and was very interesting saying like like what was
you know what was it cost?
Speaker 2 (16:13):
Yeah, well yeah, I'll be paying me out Like I'm
just dude, Bro, you are dude, so that dude, I'm
not looking for forty Uh no, no, no, I.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
Didn't see her looking for him. We were just having
a bet of like over under.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
They are people too. They matter.
Speaker 1 (16:32):

But first it is time for the tire rack Play
of the Day.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
Rivers out of the shotgun, takes the snap, quick throw.

Off the middle, intercepting Day Winners has got it.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
Day Winner's going the other way. Winners to the forty.
That's twenty five thirty. No one's gonna touch him nothing but.
Speaker 5 (20:26):
The tail lights.
Speaker 6 (20:27):
It's up Pick six forty nine.
Speaker 3 (20:29):
Ers, Pick City Baby, first pick six of the year, and.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
D Winters was all over.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
That and caught Philip Rivers slip it.
Speaker 1 (20:40):

We are going to have.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
A man that's crazy. We are going to have.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
Another edition of Incasi Mystic coming up here in about
twenty minutes from now elsewhere in California versus Indiana football,
remember that rivalry that was going around for a couple
of years Notre Dame USC Johnson since nineteen twenty six,
sat around early like an hour or so. But apparently
(21:22):
that's going to be going on hiatus. Twenty thirty is
the earliest that it'll be back. Notre Dame is finalizing
a two year home and home deal with BYU and
pausing the annual game with USC. Now this from Ross Dellinger,
who covers college football for Yahoo, who said while they
were in discussions and a lot of people thought that
(21:44):
maybe there was going to be an extension done, there
was a two year extension that was apparently almost imminent.
According to Ross Dellinger, USC officials determined that the game
date was not ideal considering past decisions from the College
Football Playoffs Selection Committee and punishing schools for losses, especially
(22:05):
those late in the season. So basically USC was like, yeah,
that doesn't work for us, So we're gonna go ahead
and uh not risk facing a good team because we
don't want it to cost us a college football playoff spot, so.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
Where you will have to play one of those good
teams in the college football playoffs. That's correct, Yes, that's correct.
So we're basically sissies, is what you're saying. Basically go ahead.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
Yeah, Now, this is incredibly disappointing for a lot of reasons.
I think, just to start big picture college football, it's
disappointing from that point of view that we don't get
whether you are a part of Notre Dame or Southern
cal but just a fan of college football, you don't
get one of the most storied greatest ribbalies in college football.
(22:55):
You know, this is now stopped, and this has been
a rivalry that for the Jeweled Shally has endured world wars,
you know, the exception of missing like one year, one
of those years in there, I believe for World War Two.
But the state's back to nineteen twenty six. We missed
the year for COVID in twenty twenty. That's it. Those
(23:18):
are only two times that this game has not been played,
and it all came down to world events. And so
you have to ask yourself, you know, what's changed that
has made one of the two sides one and now
no longer play this game. You know, Notre Dame's remained independent,
and even though if you go through the history of
(23:38):
college football there's been less and less teams that were
independent that have now joined conferences, that's still been the
one constant. So there's a lot of people who when
I look at, like what's changed on the sc side,
where it's well, you went for the Pac twelve to
the Big ten, so that's obviously changed. You've changed your
athletic director and the since the start of the millennium,
(23:59):
a number of times, I believe you know, Notre Dame's
changed what two or three? That's it head coaches. Obviously,
as Southern cal has run through a bunch of head coaches,
they've now had Lincoln Riley for a while. I don't
know that anyone's really excited about Lincoln Riley with the
performance he's done there so far. So if you look
(24:20):
at the origin of how this started, it really starts
back with the lack of success by Southern col and
Lincoln Riley not equating to the success that was hoped for,
maybe even promised, but at least touted upon his signing
by Mike Bone, the former athletic director, and that is
(24:42):
Lincoln Riley brought up the idea of not playing this
game altogether because don't get it twisted. No one else
brought this up publicly but Lincoln Riley. It followed their
inability while in the Pac twelve and he was there
with a heisman t if we win our quarterback to
win that conference and get to the playoff when it
(25:04):
was four teams, and so now you fast forward to
the expanded at twelve teams moving to the big tent.
Still haven't been a part of it. And so this
to me truly boils down to a lack of success,
a lack of achieving what Southern col hopes to achieve,
(25:24):
And it does come off as extremely cowardice to want
to turn this rivalry down because you've had a lack
of success and now you want to say, well, you
know it might hurt or be to our detchman to
get in the playoff.
Speaker 5 (25:40):
So what.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
Like, at no point in the history of this program,
and it's hit some low points, but at no point
have you ducked the rivalry until now until this guy.
It's crazy to me and Jen Cohen, their athletic director,
who I like a lot. She can defend Lincoln Riley
(26:04):
as a head coach all she wants. This is also
on her hands, and I can assure you from the
Notre Dame side of things, it was even kicked around
to be an opener to begin the season, and I
guess Southern cow didn't even want to do that, which
you could look throughout their non conference scheduling throughout the
(26:25):
years they've maybe had it. I think they had the
Bama game member I forget how long ago that was
to start a season that went awful for them. But
it's not like Notre Dames scared they start off. Yeah,
but it's not like it's not like Notre Dame scared
to schedule a tough you know, opening weekend opponent. Don't
have to look any further than Miami to start this
past season. That's that's more been the norm I would
(26:48):
say for Notre dameing their scheduling because they're non you know,
they're not in a conference. Everyone forces them to probably
play a much difficult game to start the season than
most teams would like. But again the reality is, however
it fell through. It's disappointing, and you know, Notre Dames
has to fill their schedule. They're an independent. This sort
of thing happened. They were banking on sc being that
(27:10):
you know, final game for the twenty twenty six twenty
twenty seven season. Instead they found a BYU program that
is also disappointed that I left out, that's been competitive
in the Big twelve and has a governor that wants
to talk a lot of trash so fa FO. You
will find out here in the next couple of years
for you BYU fans. You want that matchup, guess what,
(27:32):
no one's gonna do it on ESPN's terms. Notre Dame.
BYU doing it on their own terms, NBC will get
a game and then potential box being a part of
the Big Twelve, and however that game would be divvied
up out there in provo. But I just I look
at this and I go, it's incredibly disappointing for everyone
involved around college football because we're starting to see like
(27:52):
the foundation of what has been one of the greatest
sports this this world scene, and it's being just chipped
away slowly, and this is one of those chips taken away.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
I just I wonder with all of the guys that
have voiced their outrage and discuss and this is both sides.
This is not a one sided thing. Like I said,
I throw Keishawn's out, Keishawn Johnson's name out there. There
are guys that are voicing their opinions, and they are very,
(28:24):
very strong and very harsh opinions. In fact, to the
to the tune of these are non USC people making
USC decisions. Now, with that being said, they're not non
USC people. They've been hired, so they're representing the interest
of USC. But I understand where he's coming from with
basically saying, if you're making these decisions, you're clearly not
(28:48):
taking into consideration the historical value of what the rivalry
and what the game represents. I just, I mean, am
I am? I naive to wonder? Can this be stopped?
Or is it just it's just gone like thirty this
is this? Is it? Yeah? Yeah, that's that's that. It's
(29:08):
really unfortunate. I think it's it's really sad. I know,
I felt this way about when Pitt and Penn State
stopped playing, And even with that, it doesn't to me,
it doesn't match the the level of historic value connected
to this rivalry game in particular. I don't know. I
(29:31):
can understand strategically trying to make decisions that are going
to make a season better for you, which can ultimately
impact your bottom line, but there are some things that
just should never be changed. That Michigan should always play
Ohio State, West Virginia should always play Pitt, Oklahoma should
(29:52):
always play what what is the who's the red right
red River RYE? There's there's Texas and Oklahoma State, but yeah, Texas,
I mean, listen, there's a couple where the Red River
rivalry should always be there. They should always play that one.
I just think there's there's a couple of games Army Navy.
Imagine that. Imagine like and not to me the capacity
(30:16):
of doing away with this game. Like imagine if you're like, yeah,
Army and Navy is not going to play this year,
They're not going to play until twenty thirty. That's it.
It's I don't know, man, it's for pureists, which that's
why I would consider myself for college college football. It
just seems like that's a tremendous miss and how could
(30:37):
you be the decision makers involved with that and actually
be okay with making that decision.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
It's disrespectful to history. It's also it shows it shows
a short sighted view on college football today and sports today,
because sports today and college football today wouldn't be where
it's at if not for games like that, if not
for the history of the sport, of both programs, of
the rivalries that you mentioned. And so if that's the case,
(31:06):
what's next, Like everything's going to be got to have
it now in the moment once, let's let's I get
you want to look forward, you want to look towards
the future. But in order to appreciate all that, you've
got to have appreciation for the past, and nobody seems.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
To have it now.
Speaker 3 (31:21):
It's unfortunate, would say nobody. What's interesting from the sea
side of things is there's there's fans who are like, oh,
you know, it's on them. They they want to, you know,
schedule one easier. It's like, no one's asking to schedule
an easier schedule. Uh. This came up a lot during
the college football debate. But are people aware and and
by the way, for all the douchebags on social media
(31:43):
who get upset and I try to educate you on something, kickback,
have another drink. All right, we don't know where Lee
is still, but just just try to learn something. Maybe
you can get out of that gunner. The like, these
schedules are are made minimum eight years out. So for example,
(32:03):
Notre Dame did bring back the rival with Michigan. People
who go, they drew up the rival with Michigan. It's
coming back. It's twenty thirty three, twenty thirty four, somewhere
in that capacity, like that's coming back. They've scheduled Texas,
they've scheduled like a lot of these big brands that
are you know, either winning a SEC championship or competing
for it. Like they've adducted anyone day at a home
and home with Georgia. I mean, you go through their schedule.
(32:26):
The one criticism that you honestly could make is the
partial affiliation with the ACC in an era, which, by
the way, when they've done it, it obviously made it
extremely more difficult for their men's basketball program. I mean,
Notre Dame, Notre Name's basketball program was more competitive when
back when they're in the Big East, and the Big
East was something to be had for, you know, back
(32:48):
when you're playing in that particular conference, when it was
was what it was. You know, now you're in the ACC.
It's a whole different can of worms trying to compete
with the ACC. And they've been at at times competitive.
But the point is football has been down. I mean,
this is really one of the first years Miami's back.
They've won their first round playoff game, like they won
a college football playoff game before Miamis won an ACC championship.
(33:11):
Think about that for a second, Like, if you want
to look at the ACC and how it's down Florida
State again, this is not the Florida State that Jamis
Winston led a team that could win a national championship
that was one of the better in college football history.
You know that we're a decade removed from that. And
you could point back to the thirteen ZH team that
got robbed. They would have gotten stopped in the fourteen playoff.
(33:32):
They got stopped by Georgia. They didn't make it, So
spare me that argument. But if you go to the
if you look at the ACC that's been probably the
biggest detriment they faced is that conference hasn't been great.
They're playing five teams a year, which is part of
their scheduling, but surrounding those five teams, you know, they
have continued to schedule I see they have continued to
(33:52):
schedule some of the other programs that have been traditional rivals.
You know, you can't make up for them not being better.
You look at a high state's scheduled this past year,
you could have been really critical of their strength as schedule.
Who was their best opponent Texas? When it boils down
to it like that was Ohio State's biggest game in
(34:12):
the regular season. We kept talking about how they weren't tested. Well,
it's not their fault. Things fell by the wayside for
Penn State, or it's not their fault. Things didn't work
out for some of the other teams. That stuff happens,
they'll build back up, like I'm a believer Penn State's
gonna be I don't know if it's next year or
the year after. They'll be right back in contention with
a big ten. They'll be right back intending for trying
(34:34):
to keep me for a national championship again like they were,
you know, two seasons ago playing the semi final. So
it's like, it's weird that people tend to think like
Notre Dames making the schedule out every year, they're trying
to manipulate it. It's like, no, dude, sc was scared.
They're tired of losing. They feel like it's too tough,
so they had to back fill in out with with
a BYU game. Like that's how this works if you
(34:55):
don't believe for me, Like, this's just sc folks how
they feel about this rivalry.
Speaker 1 (34:59):
Not beyond here was Keishawn Johnson.
Speaker 7 (35:02):
I don't understand what our athletic department, our administration or
border trustees, border regions, whatever you want to call it,
What the hell are they doing? We run it from teams, now,
we run it from Notre Dame. Hell, why don't we
run from Oregon in Michigan and Ohio State and Wisconsin.
Why don't we just not be in the conference? Won't
(35:24):
we pull that movie and just play Sacramento State? Won't
we play them type of teams you see, Davis, because
that's what we want to do.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
This is crazy.
Speaker 7 (35:34):
It really is crazy if you think about it. Michigan,
Ohio State, one of the biggest rivalries in football, Alabama Arbor.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
Okay, they ain't canceling that.
Speaker 7 (35:45):
Why would we cancel our biggest rivalry because we can't
beat them?
Speaker 2 (35:52):
Should?
Speaker 3 (35:53):
It makes zero sense?
Speaker 7 (35:55):
Man, It's just hard to support this program is hard.
It's really hard to support this program. Well, we keep
all doing this type beat up.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
Just behavior, and keep in mind that is literally one
of the greatest players to play for USC.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
And and keep in mind that in mind, and keep
in mind this that's coming from a player who never
beat Notre Dame during his time there. They lost in
nineteen ninety five, they got beat bad in ninety four.
I believe it ended at tie. So you kind of
go back through and yeah, it's there's stretches where one
side's been dominant over the other. And that's the reality
(36:33):
of it. Like you look at nineteen eighty three to
nineteen ninety five, which was during that period of time,
I believe Notre Dame was like twelve oh one, and
SC didn't try to skirt out of it. Then you know,
during during my area against them, that was the greatest
era ever of Southern cal football. Yeah, I didn't ben No,
(36:54):
we didn't run every single year. You know what we
did every single year we looked up for that opportunity.
I mean, arguably one of the greatest games that we
ever played that's been played was you know, the whole
five the message I want money on that game. And
and that's and that's where, like you you lose a
little bit of just the under And again, I honestly
(37:15):
feel like it's part of like the younger generations now too.
They have no appreciation for what Jonah said, the history
that has built this game, that has got us to
this point. They look back and they just go they
just pushed to the wayside.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
They don't know it. Q. They don't know.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
It's not even that they don't know it, they don't
care to know it. And they don't realize that the
importance and significant of it. That's what I think bothers
me the most about it, is like we are to
this point because of what's been done before you. What's
what you know previous? You know, men and women have
built before you, and they don't.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
It's not recognized unless unless you grow up in It's
funny because y'all made the the comment yesterday like can
all the Matthews play right? And it is interesting to say,
like they're probably taught the history of the game. They
understand the history of the game, and when you I
(38:11):
feel like the best players are the ones who understand
the history of the game. And that's kind of something
that's been lost. There's a lot there too, the improvement bigger, stronger, faster,
all that stuff, okay, but there's something to be said
about knowing the history of the game. And there has
been a disconnect from today's athlete to what the history
(38:33):
of the game represents, like all of it, you know,
you might not know all of it, but the bits
and pieces of it that you learn growing up it
plays a major part, major part and why this game
plays out the way that it does every year.
Speaker 1 (38:46):
Who wouldn't want to know? Like why are we here?
Why are we at this point? It's like it's like
being waking up one day and gone, I don't care
who my parents are. What do I care? Like it
just doesn't matter. Yeah, like I'm in the moment, does
it matter? I don't care what my grandparents?
Speaker 2 (39:01):
Who cares? You know? What's crazy? Though? Kids are like
that swat into it. I don't care. I don't care
what my parents do. I don't care who they are.
My mom's my dad? Like, all right, moving on. By
the way, if you've got a job, you chose, not me.

I mean the beef rony cowboy is real, man, reel brother. Well,
you know what else is real? So last night with
the Warriors game, well, Draymond Green got into a heat
in exchange with his head coach Steve Kerr, and he
left the bench and went in the locker room with
(41:58):
twenty minutes left to go in the game.
Speaker 2 (42:01):
Oh wow, that's too much familiarity for one another. That's
what that is. You know. I think I'm going to
leave now.
Speaker 1 (42:12):
Our marriage.

Yeah, we've been together a long time, and uh, I'm
just gonna get away from the situation before things escalate me.
Speaker 2 (42:34):
Further before I'll punch you in the mouth. Well, I
don't want to say, but what if Steve Kurb dropped him?
I'd be sweet. What if you ain't know he was
the tooth Chipper? Yeah, just lit him up. I mean,
why not. He's got a good eye, he can.
Speaker 3 (42:50):
Call Key Martin.
Speaker 1 (42:51):
Apparently they're going to get along, so oh m
