Speaker 1 (00:00):
Two Pros and a cup of Joe. Fox Sports Radio
LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here. Coming
up on this Football Friday, we're gonna look back at
the NBA playoffs and we're gonna have ourselves a Game
seven between the Nuggets and the Clippers would add the same,
except the Detroit Pistons decided to defecate down their legs
in big time, primetime moments at home in front of
(00:20):
their home crowd. We'll get into that for you here.
We're also going to talk about the big difference in
Los Angeles for the Lakers when it comes to one
superstar and another one they had in the past. We
will get the very latest on the Tennessee Titans quarterback situation.
Doesn't really seem to make a whole hell of a
lot of sense. Bill Belichick back in the news again,
(00:40):
but this time we're doing a one eighty plus. We've
got another edition of Horse Name or Horse Crap with
Kentucky Derby Weekend. Around the corner, we've got Lee's leftovers,
and in case you missed it, it's all yours coming
up next here, Two Pros and a cup of Joe
on a Football Friday, Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Need to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (01:10):

Eastern time, six o'clock Pacific, and we are back and
(01:33):
we are fully loaded. B q's back stick City in
the house, rocking and rolling here on this football Friday.
How we feeling?
Speaker 3 (01:43):
Let's go up?
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Really? I think we got screwed out last night on
two game sevens. We had an opportunity to land two
game sevens in the NBA playoffs, but thankfully the Detroit
pissedon game.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
I did.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
I wanted to yeah and uh why? Thankfully the the
Detroit Pistons decided to defecate down their leg leading in
that game at home.
Speaker 5 (02:12):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Thus, not only to see the New York Knicks and
Jalen Brunson rip the life out of their bodies, there
in front of that home crowd. So yeah, who does
like a game seven. I mean, even though most of
the time they're sloppy and they're you know, it's it's
all about defense and not offense, you get two game sevens.
That's fun. Man.
Speaker 6 (02:31):
Really, I don't know, man, I look at this, this
Knicks Piston series.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
I kind of felt like it was a boring series.
Speaker 6 (02:42):
Like it's it's it's like to me, I look at
either one of these teams advancing is a team that
may not be good enough to win in the next round,
and yeah, both they feel that about both teams. It's
like I feel that about both teams. So it's kind
of like, all right, let's get through this series. Let's
(03:05):
get to the next series and get get whatever team
it is, which obviously is now the Knicks. They'll they'll
go home after this next round, and you know that's that.
I just kind of I don't know, I just wasn't
I wasn't super into this series. I don't I don't
(03:25):
know why. I know that the Pistons are, you know,
kind of they improved dramatically this year to get to
where they're at. So, you know, congrats on their season
and to the NIXT I mean, Knicks have been a
team that's been able to do this, you know, get
out of the first round or play well early on.
(03:46):
But you know, saying it's kind of feel like it's
the same thing. Like Brunching's battling injuries. He's going to
be banged up, and he's going to be the catalyst
too if they're going to be.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
Able to play well.
Speaker 6 (03:57):
And I just don't know how healthy he's going to
be going into to the next series. So I don't know.
It was kind of a boring series to me. I'm
kind of glad it's over. But you know, Game seven,
I guess you would have enjoyed it.
Speaker 7 (04:11):
Yeah, he would have enjoyed I mean, Jonas, you love
to gamble, I mean, you love to throw some money
into sort of thing. So especially in a Game seven,
it's a little more exciting. But I understand where LaVar
is coming from. I think I said this at the
beginning of the series too. I didn't feel like either
team really faced a chance against Boston the next round.
But Jim and Brunts is fun to watch. I mean
that being said, like the NBA playoffs are all about stars.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
When those stars show up.
Speaker 7 (04:34):
Brunson was phenomenal last night, and so look, it's an
old school matchup if you will, rivalry if you will,
and I'm excited to watch it.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
So it would have been fun to see go game seven.
Speaker 7 (04:47):
I understand what you're saying, but I'm still excited to
see what this next series actually has to bring. Like,
I give the next a shot in this one, even
though I think Boston's a much better team.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Is that because it would be better for you? Because
the in laws are all laws to.
Speaker 7 (05:03):
Stick about it. They need they need some light at
the end of the tunnel. It's it's been pretty pretty
tough of late.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
You know.
Speaker 7 (05:11):
It's like they've really you know that, from the Red
Sox to the Pats now without Belichick and Tom Brady,
the whole situation.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
I need.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
I need the Celtics to do something all right, just so.
Speaker 7 (05:23):
I can have a nice optimistic conversation about sports with
the in laws.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
Otherwise I want to be in a lot of trouble.
Speaker 7 (05:30):
I don't have to, you know, figuring a lot of
trips and different things out and try to make them happy.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
And that is not where I want to be, especially with.
Speaker 7 (05:36):
Five kids, and just that that's that cost adds up
and it adds up over time.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Yeah, that's true. Now, Tom Thibodeau, he did speak about
his superstar Jalen Brunson the game winning shot last night
in Detroit and had this to say.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
That's what makes them so special.
Speaker 5 (05:53):
And you know we talk about, you know, the all
the intangibles that it's his makeup and oftentimes you know,
that's that's where mistakes I think are made in the
draft and things like that. And there's it's easy to
see like how many points of guy scores or what
physical tools tools are, but when you look at the
(06:13):
mental tools, that's everything.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
So that was Tom Thiboda talking about it.
Speaker 5 (06:20):
O G.
Speaker 6 (06:21):
O G and Michal are going to have to, like
they are going to have to play their brains out
to be able to get out of the next round.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
I don't I just don't see it.
Speaker 6 (06:30):
I don't see them having enough to deal with what,
you know, what they're going to see next round. But
they're going to have to show up. You know, it
can't just be on on Brunson and and I think
we we could you know, kind of even dovetail tail
that into the Clippers Nuggets game. Like they you know,
the defensive scheme was to limit Nicola and and make
(06:54):
other guys win it. When Murray is on, it's it's
a it's a dope. It's a dope, dope situation for
them when he's not. If if the Clippers are playing
the way they played last night, and they have hard
and playing the way that Harden played, it's it's hard.
It's hard to think that they can go into this
(07:17):
last game and be able to win. And and so
I don't know, man, it's it's it's a it's a
star driven league. And if a star, if the three,
if you have three that can do it like at
the highest of high levels, and they can do it
night in and night out, just like you saw, which
I don't Again, the more and more I look at
(07:39):
the Lakers game, I mean, I do think it was
a gaff in.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
Terms of coaching. They chose.
Speaker 6 (07:46):
They chose to to try to I don't know, out
offense the you know the Timberwolves, and they they sacrifice
length for what the I guess maybe they felt would
be force Anthony Edwards to be the one that beats
us and try to limit him and let's play some offense.
(08:07):
On the other end of the court, and it didn't
work out for them, And so to me, I don't
look at Rudy Gobert being like one of the Big
three outside of the way he rebounds and plays defense.
But I wouldn't assume any other team is going to
try to defense them the way that the Lakers did.
So you got to pretty much have people that can
(08:27):
match up really well. I don't know that the Knicks
matchup well against Boston. And looking at and looking at
the game against the Clippers and the Nuggets hit into
this game seven, Now that's a game seven that's gonna
be truly interesting. Both of those teams are are really
scrapping and fighting for their playoff lives. I think that
(08:51):
one is a super entertaining one. The storyline is good,
and the matchups are good, you know, and history isn't
on the Nuggets side to be able to win a
game seven. So it'll be interesting to see if they're
able to pool through and get up at it there,
because you know, I would assume that people would have thought, well,
I don't know, some people really are high on on
(09:12):
the you know, the Clippers until they're not. But I
would have thought the Nuggets would have been able to
get out of the first round.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
David Adaman, the head coach of the Denver Nuggets, he
spoke about the opportunity to host a Game seven. Obviously,
down the stretch they won some games to go ahead
and be able to have that advantage heading into this
one against the Clippers. But here was the Denver Nuggets
head coach, David Adaman, who just took over about an
(09:39):
hour and a half ago as the headman there in Denver.
Let's take a listen. We talked about it. You know,
after the game.
Speaker 8 (09:46):
You win those last three games not just to stay
out of the plan, but to get the home court
in Game seven, bottom line, and we earned it. And
that's why I told them in there, you've earned this opportunity.
Speaker 6 (09:56):
You earned the.
Speaker 8 (09:56):
Opportunity tonight to try to close it out because of
the way you played in the series to get to
three to two. But now you have the opportunity to
go home in front of your home fans and advance,
and so you know, you play all year for that.
We got that opportunity and we're very, very excited to
go back out there and play again.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
LA could really use one team to advance in the postseason.
The Kings just got clipped last night in the NHL playoffs.
They had they had a lead in that series, and
they also defecated down their skates and then the Lakers
were totally outclassed and outmatched in their series. The Clippers
are LA's only hope right now to make a playoff run,
(10:35):
which is not which is not a comfortable Is that
a good thing? No?
Speaker 3 (10:38):
No, based on history, that's not where the LA fans.
Speaker 4 (10:41):
Want to be, right.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
It's just like it is one of those fan bases
where you're just like, all right, so what's gonna go wrong?
All right? Based on this what's going to go wrong?
Speaker 3 (10:49):
And here we go again.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
Yeah, it's one of those one of those scenarios.
Speaker 7 (10:53):
So like when Lee grabs one of those bean burritos,
like Wyley, we know exactly how this is gonna.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
End, all right.
Speaker 1 (11:01):
By the way, I'm just saying, there's you know, there
is there is that Lee. When's the last time you
rifle a bean burrito just for the hell of it,
just for for s and giggles.
Speaker 9 (11:14):
I had a burrito, uh, bean burrito?
Speaker 10 (11:19):
Well it was it was bean and cheese.
Speaker 9 (11:21):
You gotta have some cheese, BRC beans, rice and cheese
burrito earlier in the week from where Homemade was Delicious?
Speaker 3 (11:31):
You made it? What kind of beans? Pinto?
Speaker 10 (11:34):
They were black beans?
Speaker 1 (11:37):
Exactly, that's a Stutterinos are any other kind of beans
in that house?
Speaker 9 (11:44):
Actually, three or four different kinds of beans right now.
I got some baked beans, some pinto beans, yeah, some
some black beans.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
I know you're dating again.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
On is that?
Speaker 7 (11:57):
You know?
Speaker 11 (11:58):
I thought about this the other day because me only
hung out the other night and you know what did
as soon as he sat in my car?
Speaker 4 (12:06):
What say that against? Yeah?
Speaker 11 (12:09):
I let one go, I think, yeah, yea twice.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
Oh yeah, you guys went to that that dump? Was it?
Speaker 5 (12:17):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Pineapple, Tanderine saloon or saloons?
Speaker 6 (12:22):
I mean, this is more interesting than the games last night?
How how how did that go? What was that all about?
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Huh?
Speaker 6 (12:29):
It was good.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
It was good.
Speaker 10 (12:30):
We watched Laker game. The burger was dry, very dry berg.
We shared a burger and some wings.
Speaker 6 (12:35):
Yeah, Howard wings wings were good.
Speaker 10 (12:39):
We got some old bay wings and some some medium wings.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
Show them buffalocks. You are a funny what.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
Yeah? I didn't want to draw attention to.
Speaker 4 (12:54):
Nothing. You're good you're good.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
So what what was the So why would you go
there to watch the game?
Speaker 6 (13:05):
Now?
Speaker 9 (13:05):
Well, we actually went to go to a different place,
but they ended up having like a live band there
and those pretty packs, so we ended up going down
the road to there.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
Showed her Frank, was this was this a date? Was
this a date?
Speaker 5 (13:19):
No?
Speaker 11 (13:20):
I don't know why a man and a woman can't
hang out and then just be hanging out. I wanted
to go.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
Man and a woman can just hang out, but.
Speaker 11 (13:28):
Go and have dinner. And I don't have a lot
of friends. So I hit up Lee and I was like, Haylee,
do you want to go have.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
Right next to one another?
Speaker 5 (13:37):
No?
Speaker 11 (13:38):
But I come this way from my way to work,
so it's kind of just you know, on my way.
And I was like, do you want to split up?
And he was like, babe, I can get away from my.
Speaker 10 (13:50):
Life.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
And uh, you say wife or life? What was that? Okay? Life?
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Okay, he's a busy man.
Speaker 12 (14:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (14:00):
So he came and hung out with me for a bit.
Speaker 10 (14:03):
Yeah, watch the leaguer game in my car twice?
Speaker 4 (14:09):
Didrab burger.
Speaker 10 (14:10):
I was so gry.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
You gotta work on that Alle.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (14:18):
I was talking a big game too on that burger.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
I get it makes it.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
The talk is not what makes the juicy lee takes
more than that.
Speaker 11 (14:31):
I was so hungry. I was so hungry, and he
was like, Oh, yeah, they got food.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
You gotta grab that.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
You gotta get it going.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
Carress that thing before you get in there, right.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
I never I never thought of grabbing a burger at
Pineapple Saloon. I'll be honest with you. Didn't that place almost,
by the way, shouldn't didn't that place wasn't it illegally
open during COVID or something like that. Then they get
shut down.
Speaker 9 (14:56):
The owner made the rounds even on national news about
you know, restaurants trying to open up again.
Speaker 10 (15:04):
I don't think they got shut down. There was another restaurant,
all ten.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Horn Flats ten Horn Flash, which.
Speaker 10 (15:09):
Also another great bar with a great burger.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
By the way, that place that they were reckless. They
were like, oh, you're shutting us down, no problem, and
second everybody turned around, they opened right back up.
Speaker 9 (15:18):
The guy would the owner, would get arrested, get let out,
and then he would immediately go back to the bar
get a generate because they actually cut off the power
to the place.
Speaker 10 (15:26):
He would bring a generator and cut cut the.
Speaker 4 (15:30):
Cut through.
Speaker 7 (15:31):
People are trying to survive and have a business happening.
Speaker 10 (15:35):
They put a fence around the entire establishment.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
He would.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
Whatever happened to that? Is that place still close?
Speaker 9 (15:44):
They got they got sold from under him. They they're
almost going to reopen. It's going to be renamed the Corner.
But it still looks exactly the same. They have like
this big saloon doors, big mural on the side, makes
it look like a stagecoach kind of spot.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
What a clown show? Wow, that's too bad. Is that
the one on Sunset?
Speaker 9 (16:04):
I know which one you're talking about, but not ites
in bak Okay, Well, I do have some good news
for you guys here.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
I know the games were a little bit lackluster last night,
outside of the finish in the Detroit, New York.
Speaker 6 (16:16):
Game, I meanish, yeah, I don't won't take anything from it.
I just didn't feel like there was very much electricity
or energy surrounding that series. But there is some in
the West. So wow, clips, clips, you know they delivered
you want you know, it's a series.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
If you want some energy, I got it for you.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
Give us the energy. J Yeah, come on Friday, Yeah yeah,
that that grad burger.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
Yeah Friday.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (17:10):
J alright, let's get cue up out of here.
Speaker 6 (17:18):
Yeah for you, Eddie, Friday Night is a burner Friday Burger.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
It is a football Friday. Here on the show, we
do have another edition of in case you missed it
coming up later on this hour. We've also got Lee's
Leftovers an hour three of the program. By the way,
it is Kentucky Derby Weekend. So not only are we
going to draw names out of a hat, We've also
got another edition of horse Name or Horse Crap that
we are going to unveil next hour on the show.
(17:52):
All of it is yours here as we take you
all the way up until nine am Eastern time, six
o'clock Pacific. Up next though, apparently every but he's got
an opportunity with one NFL franchise. Do we believe it?
We'll discuss right here at FSR.
Speaker 13 (18:06):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe, Fox Sports Radio,
LeVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here. So
coming up about twenty minutes from now, you are going
to hear a very befuddled Super Bowl champion can't really
figure out what the hell's going on. We'll get into
that for you again. Coming up here about twenty minutes
(18:41):
from now, we know what's going on in Tennessee, where
the Titans drafted cam Ward number one. Overall, the feeling
would be, all right, he's going to be the guy.
He's going to be the quarterback there. But they still
do have Will Levis and their head coach Brian Callahan
spoke yesterday about the plan in place when it comes
to who's going to be their QB one.
Speaker 14 (19:03):
They'll have plenty of opportunities. How those reps get shaken
out will sort of be determined by how they perform
when given opportunities. That part of it's been been thought out.
It's we have a plan in place, and what that
looks like is going to ultimately be sort of up
to them, you know, and how their performance goes when
when there's time to perform. So feel good about the
process and the planet.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
So I have a question for you if what's that question.
It would take just me looking on the outside, It
would take a complete disastrous performance from cam Ward or
an injury for anybody else to have a shot in
hell to be the starting quarterback in Tennessee. So why
why are we doing this whole everybody kind of shot?
Speaker 7 (19:47):
I honestly don't know why organizations do this. I think
the one justification they try to make is they want
the rest of the team to feel like cam Ward
earned it.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
He wasn't given it.
Speaker 4 (20:01):
He earned it.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
Now, here's the.
Speaker 7 (20:04):
Hard part about that is you wouldn't have drafted him
if Will Levis, who was the last quarterback you had,
had earned it and been the guy right Instead, he
lost it. That's why we're here, not like the number
one spot, but with a chance to take a guy
that camboard, which the team did.
Speaker 4 (20:23):
So.
Speaker 7 (20:23):
I have always said, if you take a guy number
one overall, there's no point in wasting any reps at
any point in time during the offseason on anyone else
With this guy, he's playing ketchup. Think about some of
the teams that have guys like Patrick Mahomes and Josh
Allen and Joe Burrow or like, let's just compare the
(20:44):
divisions you got CJ.
Speaker 2 (20:46):
Stroud, you have Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
Like guys who have been there for a while with their.
Speaker 7 (20:50):
Teams, they're not playing ketchup as much as he will be,
and trying to learn an NFL offense, to learn what
you see different from defenses in the NFL, to develop
chemistry with the guys you're throwing to, chemistry with your
offensive line. You know, those guys have it hard enough
up front of the offensive line, having to deal with
(21:12):
two different voices, two different cadences. I mean, you know,
teams oftentimes they try to be like, oh, we try
to make them same.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
But they're not.
Speaker 7 (21:19):
Like the cadence of a quarterback is oftentimes very similar
to his personality. Some guys have, you know, just different
ways of doing hard counts or double counts and communicating
with they're at the line of scrimmage. It's really really
helpful to be able to have one voice and one
guy back there that's your guy, and you're working this
(21:40):
entire offseason to get yourself ready for Week one, and
that's where it should be. And especially considering the situation
Brian Callahan's in, it felt like it was a little
bit iffy whether or not he was going to make
it past year one.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
Now you're into year or two, you're thinking.
Speaker 7 (21:56):
He's one of the coaches you're probably looking at around
the NFL saying they need to show improvement, and even
drafting a quarterback number one overall isn't gonna save them
if things don't go well. So I don't know why
we do this because all it is is kind of
that charade of a dog and pony show to make
it to make the coaches feel like, well, he earned it,
(22:18):
he checked that box for us, like okay, But the
truth of the matter is the guy who he's competing
with already gave it up. He had that spot you
pointed in the spot he gave it up, and that's
why you made the decision to move on to someone else.
So whether or not you feel it's important for him
to earn it, and I understand there's life lessons there
and there's places for that, this is gonna be something
(22:41):
that I feel like backfires when you watch a young
man play better in the second half of his rookie
season than he does the first half because he was
splitting reps, getting half the amount of reps the physical
reps that you need as a quarterback to prepare yourself
with the other guy. I mean, I feel like at
time when we take like, for example, Abdull Carter, is
(23:04):
he is he not gonna be looked at this the
guy's gonna start right away? Is Travis Hunter not looked
at as a guy who's gonna start right away? Do
we do this with other positions? Like Will Campbell's drafted
four overall? Are we like, let's just let him, let
him earn it, Let's let him earn that. Let's let
him earn that left tackle right to Let's let him
earn that spot.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
It's like, no, dude, you drafted because you got a need.
Speaker 7 (23:26):
That's why you took him there. It's the only a
position we do it with. And to me, I understand
the whole he's going to earn it. I get that,
but unfortunately, like he kind of already earned it. That's
he did it in Miami, did at Washington State, did
it in Carnor word, That's why you drafted him where
you did because you thought he could come in and
be your guy.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
That's why you drafted them number one overall.
Speaker 6 (23:47):
You know, it's an interesting, interesting scenario because when you
look at cam Ward and and some some some ratings
had him some big boy words had him as high
as three. I believe in terms of your prospects, guy,
I mean, I'll say this, I'm more on the side
(24:12):
of Daniel Jeremiah and his list. I think like that
in between eight to ten he wasn't Some had him
out of the top ten prospects best prospects. The reason
why I bring that up is because I again, we
had this conversation pre draft. If a prospect doesn't rank
(24:37):
out to be one of the like say, top five prospects,
do you spend a number one pick on a prospect
that isn't even ranked that high on the big boards
coming into the draft? Is it is it justifiable to
take him number one? So if he does not start,
(25:00):
that is a super suit. To me, that's super bad news.
That is bad news because of the things that you
just said, Q, along with the idea of spending a
number one overall draft pick, because any other guy that
you would have took at number one, like you said,
(25:20):
if you take abdul Carter number one, is he impacting
your defense day one?
Speaker 4 (25:24):
Most likely he is. If you take Travis.
Speaker 6 (25:27):
Hunter with the number one pick overall, is he improving
your team? Most likely he is, and Will Campbell most
likely he is. You know some of these guys. I
kept bringing up Walker, He's most likely impacting your team
day one, same with genty. Does cam Ward impact your
(25:50):
team day one? If he does not as the number
one overall pick, and if he does not immediately, it
doesn't have to be too The degree of an NFL
vent doesn't have to be like what Jaydon Daniels did
when he came in or what CJ. Stroud did when
he came in, which I think has become the new
(26:11):
standard when you go number one. I think that type
of pressure is going to be on cam Ward is
to be like a transformed formational player for the franchise
day one, like a Jaydon Daniels or c. J. Stroud
was for the Houston Texans. And it doesn't always work
that way. So I find I find it to be
(26:33):
tremendously a pressure packed situation if he does not start
day one versus if he were to, you know, come
in and be you know, a backup.
Speaker 4 (26:44):
He's going back up Will Levis. I don't think so.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
Does anybody in the locker room. By this that, well,
there's going to be a true competition to see who
the guy is. Does anybody based on it?
Speaker 6 (26:55):
I think it's I think it becomes a competition if
he doesn't. If he does come into training camp or
mini camps, the camps that whatever it is, the ot,
I don't know what the hell they do anymore. If
he comes in and he does not show a level
of talent or control command that would say that he's
(27:15):
not ready to go in yet, then it becomes I
would assume that's when it becomes a competition. If he's
not maybe comprehending the playbook as well, or if he's
not making the proper reads on the field, whatever that
may be. I think it has to be his level
of play that turns it into a competition more than
anything else.
Speaker 7 (27:35):
See, I'd take a very different approach to this. Let
me give everyone this is some inside information. You get
some some theme music maybe behind this. I'm not sure
what we have for insider information, Like I don't know,
I mean Robert Stack and that's not conspiracy theory, so
we can't play that.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Do we have like some inspector gadget?
Speaker 3 (27:55):
Do we have what could be possible.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
Is gonna help me out here?
Speaker 15 (28:04):
Okay, far, it's perfect. He's got me, He's got my back.
That sounds like this sounds like the burger that was.
Speaker 6 (28:20):
It sounds like the dry burger music. Okay, there you go,
there you go. Now, that sounds like mister gadget right.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
There, sounds like something kind of funky.
Speaker 7 (28:32):
Yeah, he's not gonna be ready week one, all right,
like news, I'm gonna tell everyone right now, he's not
gonna be ready when he first gets there. He's not
gonna be ready week one because he doesn't know what
he doesn't know, like when you've never played in the
regular season NFL game. And this is one of the
reasons why preseason games are important. They're important to obviously
(28:52):
rookies guys who haven't played at that speed, played at
this level yet, but even more so once you get
to the regular.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
Season, team's gonna start scheming, try to take things away.
Speaker 7 (29:02):
Teams are gonna see weaknesses and how you drop back,
how you throw, how you like, how you view the field,
and they're gonna implement defenses to take all those things away.
He's not experienced that the college level, the NFL level
is drastically different. And so because of that, he's not
gonna be ready. I'm telling you right now, that's just
how it is. And and even Jayden and Daniels could
(29:22):
tell you as a phenomenal of the season as he
had as a rookie.
Speaker 4 (29:26):
C J. Stroud.
Speaker 7 (29:27):
Ask them how they feel going into the you know,
year two, having the offense under their belt, or being
able to see everything again from your divisional opponents, knowing personnel,
knowing their strengths and weaknesses. It's one thing to see
it on tape. It's another thing to play against them.
So that's the reality is it's he's not gonna be ready.
You don't know until you throw them in there, let
him play again when you drafted them number one. Overall,
(29:51):
he's gonna be a guy that has to go in
there and play to prove one way or other whether
or not he can be the guy.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
And they're gonna need to be patient that they need.
Speaker 7 (29:59):
They're gonna need to give time and build the offense
around what those strengths are as and what the strengths are.
Speaker 3 (30:04):
For the offense.
Speaker 7 (30:06):
Like that's the other thing is you don't know what
the offense is gonna do well, until he gets in
there and starts playing. So uh, it's a little bit
of a secret, a little bit of a hint, but
that's the reality is you're not gonna know at all
until you get into the season. Then he starts playing
and you get a feel for whether or not he's
going to end up being the guy. We had no
doubts about c J. Strout after his rookie year. We
(30:27):
have no doubts about Jane Daniels after his rookie year.
Right now, I'm not saying he needs to play to
that level like LeVar you just said that.
Speaker 4 (30:34):
I'm not.
Speaker 7 (30:34):
I'm not saying that either, right, but he'll show you signs, right,
he'll show you signs more so than maybe what you
saw from Will Levis while you moved on from Will
Levis and while you're drafted cam Ward number one overall.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
By the way, well done getting through that. Because this
music is atrocious. I don't know what inspector gadget remix
this is. But that's arm.
Speaker 12 (30:58):
Better.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
Like here's here's the other. The other bitch of it
all is that Brian Brian Callahan, he doesn't have based
on how everything is structured. Now they've got a brand new,
brand new GM like the way that this has all
been done, he doesn't have the leeway to go through
growing pains because they meet. They may be a five
(31:21):
or six win team next year, and cam Ward shows
progress and development during the course of that time, and
there's gonna be people that go, yeah, but you're a
five win team. He's got to go. So it just
feels like he's been putting a tough spot where, all right,
everybody's gonna have a competition here, but everybody knows that's
the future of the organization. And if he doesn't deliver,
Brian Callahan is gonna be on his ass looking around
(31:43):
going Okay, I guess I'm gonna go be a coordinator
somewhere again. So it just feels like, you know, he's
been putting a tough spot.
Speaker 4 (31:49):
How it works, man, that's how it works.
Speaker 6 (31:51):
But if he shows promise, I don't I don't think
that it's it's it's a doom doom situation for Callahan.
He's has to show promise if they do win that
that few of games. I mean, they they brought in
Tyler Lockett, I mean, they made some moves in the
off season that you would I guess you could say
(32:11):
makes their their offense better. I still think it's a
wait and see type of deal, but I don't know.
I think he would have to to to really s
the bid. Proverbially, proverbial, proverbially whatever, anyway, proverbial, proverbial.
Speaker 4 (32:30):
That's the bid.
Speaker 6 (32:33):
My mouth is tired, my mind anyway, my mouth dry well, jeez,
I guess you just go to wait and see situation.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
And what was on that proverbial burger?
Speaker 4 (32:51):
I had?
Speaker 6 (32:52):
Uh? I did a half smoke yesterday. I did a
hot dog with UH, with a hot sausage yes today.
No kidding, with mustard and ketchup. Yeah, it's good with
a ket bun, damn, Because y'all know I've been on
this connivorous diet. So I had a bun yesterday. But
it was key too.
Speaker 4 (33:14):
I'm on that keto diet.
Speaker 3 (33:17):
Set up.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
Man, come on, man, let's so awkward. I know I
didn't make it awkward. This is the way you said
key too. That was very That was very Baltimore Ish.

Good morning, LeVar horn Horn.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
Guys.
Speaker 9 (35:47):
In case you missed this, we were just talking about
cadences for quarterbacks.
Speaker 10 (35:50):
Well, how about Gruden's quarterback class.
Speaker 9 (35:53):
Where John Gruten was hanging out with Jackson Dart asked
him about his snapcount.
Speaker 10 (35:56):
Take a listen to the audio here.
Speaker 2 (35:59):
Stand up, let me see you snap count. Let me
be honest with me, because.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
I see at usc.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
I see I see this guy.
Speaker 4 (36:05):
Yeah, go ahead, you ready?
Speaker 15 (36:07):
Yeah, No, I want to hear the snap count?
Speaker 4 (36:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (36:14):
Really every time?
Speaker 13 (36:16):
Every time, do you have like a dummy clap or anything?
Speaker 4 (36:20):
Yeah, we call it purple.
Speaker 13 (36:22):
What's that?
Speaker 1 (36:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (36:25):
For three years you've been clapping. I think I could
do that.
Speaker 4 (36:30):
Let me hear it. Yeah, No, I ain't doing it.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
He's great TV man, he knows he knows how.
Speaker 7 (36:39):
To make it entertaining. I mean, that's something that I'm
sure he's talked about before and kind of had set
up for that. But what I love about it is
Jackson dar just just outed uh Lane Kiffin and old
Missus and Charlie West Junior there their their call for
their their double double clap purple. Usually you you go, oh, yeah,
we got something for that, but it's it's too clap,
(37:00):
So we have something for three collapse.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
You know, you don't want to give away all of
that information.
Speaker 7 (37:03):
But I don't know, maybe maybe some some someone's have
to teach old Jackson Dart with the New York Giants.
Speaker 3 (37:10):
You can't.
Speaker 7 (37:10):
You can't be giving away all your all your calls
there when you're on tape or on camera.
Speaker 4 (37:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
The good part is is Lane Keffn will probably respond,
if he hasn't already, like, he will go to social
media and respond to this, and he'll call out Jackson
Dart based on how he works.
Speaker 3 (37:24):
He'll have fun with it, That's what he'll do. I mean,
I don't think. I don't think Jackson Darts can get
arrested or anything like that.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
You know, No, definitely not not a prank.
Speaker 6 (37:33):
Not a prank pre snap count, I don't know, not
a prank. Do all right, good deal?
Speaker 1 (37:39):
What else we got?
Speaker 9 (37:40):
Well, speaking of pranks, and we've been talking about him
all week, we talked about the prank calls on Shudor Sanders. Well,
in case you missed it, from NBC Sports Philadelphia at
the Phillies game yesterday, John Kruk talked about a prank
gone bad.
Speaker 12 (37:50):
Take a listen, ever, tell you I almost got arrested
in Oregon.
Speaker 16 (37:54):
Doesn't surprise me but no, you never told me. Last
ten games for Kepler eleven hits.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
Two home runs.
Speaker 16 (37:59):
What were you doing in Portland?
Speaker 12 (38:01):
I played minor league, Yeah, rookie bar I got arrested,
handcock put in the back of a cop car.
Speaker 16 (38:06):
Was it the staken identity?
Speaker 12 (38:08):
No, Tony Gwen had a friend who was a cop
car and he had me arrested. Scared the iobban how
was not thinking?
Speaker 1 (38:17):
Like?
Speaker 12 (38:17):
Man, I know I had a few beers, but if
I whipt the hell did I end up doing? You
got a lot of a lot of bad thoughts with
your handcuff in the back.
Speaker 6 (38:24):
Of a pot car.
Speaker 16 (38:25):
Imagine and I can imagine they there was the runner
pitch foul. There remains three to two? How did how
did this end?
Speaker 6 (38:32):
Though?
Speaker 1 (38:32):
Did did it take you down town today?
Speaker 12 (38:34):
But no, no, no, they never ull up the parking lot
of the hotel. All I heard was Tony laugh and
I'm like that bastard.
Speaker 4 (38:41):
Well, I mean, what went wrong? It sounds like it
went right.
Speaker 5 (38:45):
Now.
Speaker 1 (38:46):
LeVar was ranking whether or not a prank was bitch
made yesterday on the show. Is that a bitch made prank? LeVar?
Speaker 4 (38:53):
No, Well, I say he's bitch.
Speaker 6 (38:58):
The kids bitch made for what he did it to
get on to get on a phone on like an
important moment for one of these young men's their lives,
and to do that. I just think that's bitch mate
man like that right there, That's like camaraderie. That's that's
a right of passage, like you get pranked like as
a rookie, like you get hazed, Like I get that,
(39:22):
But that's like he has no stake in any anything
to be you know. I could see if it was
like Shador's teammates, you know, and they came together and
pranked team or something like that, but there's no relation to.
Speaker 3 (39:37):
The most interesting took place there.
Speaker 7 (39:39):
They have done away with pranking in the NFL, So
maybe this is like the new prank, which which.
Speaker 2 (39:44):
By the way, the more you read into this, the
more you hear.
Speaker 7 (39:48):
How many players got pranked, and it is really interesting
that the only one that's been made an example of
is Jeff Olbrit's son and the Atlanta Falcons, even though
information about all lot of players has gotten out of there.
I mean, one player that was drafted later on was
called like five times or had five different prank calls.
So clearly this is more of a lead be handled
(40:10):
to say, well, and now, by the way, and they're
not obviously for obvious reasons. If you don't know what
that is, you know, that's that's our media today. But
it's happening. It's happening so frequently now it's getting to
the point where it's like, I'm not sure what the
NFL needs to do outside of encourage people to go
there to the to the draft, Like that's the only thing.
(40:33):
If you're sitting backstage, they don't need to call you,
they just call your name.
Speaker 1 (40:37):
I mean, one hundred grand is not a small fine, No,
not at all. He's got to eat one hundred grand
because he left his iPad unlocked on the kitchen table.
Speaker 4 (40:48):
You're going and give him that out?
Speaker 1 (40:49):
Huh?
Speaker 4 (40:51):
Hey man?
Speaker 6 (40:51):
That if he was at the Pentagon and he left
that ippad opened. What's what's the repercussion? I'm just saying
it's sensitive and form s
