Speaker 1 (00:00):
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe. Fox Sports Radio,
LeVar Arrington, Jonas Knox with you here. Coming up on
this Tuesday edition, we have got all sorts of news
and notes around the NFL, including all the ramifications from
the Big Time Trade, Jalen Ramsey, Minka Fitzpatrick, John Newsmith,
everybody moving, what does it mean for the Dolphins, and
more importantly, what does it mean for the Steelers moving forward,

(00:23):
especially if they're not able to retain TJ. Watt. We
will discuss Rodney Harrison is officially a Hall of Famer,
but when will he get into the Pro Football Hall
of Fame. We'll get into that conversation as well too.
Plus we're going to have a discussion about mentoring in
the AFC when it comes to one odd unique quarterback room.
We've got one last ride when it comes to the

(00:44):
NFL offseason for players in the league. And we've got
another edition of In case you missed it, and we
got Lee's leftovers as well too. It's all yours next year.
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe on a Tuesday,
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Let's give this.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
You're listening Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Binkink b.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Come on on the Black and Drag Baby, it is
two pros and a cup of Joe. Fox Sports Radio,
LaVar Arrington, Jonas Knox with you here. You can find

(01:41):

take you all the way up until nine am Eastern time,
six o'clock Pacific, And now we get to find out
how the rest of the big birthday bash went for

(02:03):
the one and only Leaverrington.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
I'm tired, That's all I love to tell you. But
I'm here here. Let's do it. Yeah, let's give the
people a show. Yeah, we'll do the best we can.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Yeah, we will definitely try, because thankfully the NFL decided,
you know what, We're gonna throw you guys a bone.
I am We're gonna go ahead. We're still waiting to
find out exactly what the full details are on Malik
Beasley and whether or not he's just a degenerate, flunky
gambler who pissed away his entire career because he's betting

(02:41):
props on his own point totals, or rebounds or assists.
But nonetheless, the NFL decided to step up and say,
you know what, here we go. Here's a little something
for you, and that little something is a big one.
We've got a trade. The Dolphins traded cornerback Jalen Ramsey

(03:02):
tight end John new Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers for
safety Minka Fitzpatrick and a pick swap. Yeah, I got
news for you. The Dolphins this year ain't gonna sound
nothing like that. No, they will not. There would be
no no Dolphins sounds this year. The answer would would

(03:25):
insult Peta. But I look at this and I go.
We've heard speculation about whether or not the Steeler or
the Dolphins were going to trade Jalen Ramsey. That's been
rumored about. It's been whispered about. There's been discussions about it.
You know, Chris Greer their GM talked about it. It
clearly had run its course there for whatever reason, and

(03:45):
so now he ends up in Pittsburgh. There is some
speculation that he might even switch to safety. And I
don't know about you, but if you add that along
with John new Smith, who's coming off the best season
of his career and for some reason they couldn't get
a restructuring done on his deal. All of a sudden,
the Steelers add a couple of new pieces, and the

(04:07):
feeling on Mika Fitzpatrick was he was starting to slip
a little bit in his play. So if you can
add Jalen Ramsey and John new Smith to this offseason
and what the Steelers have already done, I love this
for Pittsburgh. I think it's a great move.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
So you feel as though it's justifiable to just throw
it out there that Menca Fitzpatrick's play has been slipping.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
There's been some speculation about that speculation.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
I mean, I don't know, man if if almost getting
one hundred tackles and in the season as a safety
in the Pittsburgh Steelers defense is slipping when I mean
in twenty one he had one hundred and twenty twenty one,

(04:56):
he had one hundred and twenty four combined tackles and
his stats, so statistically speaking, it was his best his
best season, but it's not far off. It's not far
off from what his stats were this past year. And
and listen, if we're talking, first of all, it's not

(05:17):
apples to apples in terms of a comparison, because you're
talking about a corner and you're talking about a safety. Now,
if you think that and I heard you mentioned Jayalen
Ramsey may move the safety and that has happened. We've
seen We've seen Cornell Lake moved to safety. We've seen
Rob Woodson moved to safety. We Charles Woodson moved to safety.

(05:40):
Like we've seen some really really fine football players go
from playing corner to moving to safety. Is Jayalen Ramsey,
is he in a space in time for him we're
moving making a move to safety? Is at that time?
First of all, meaning has he has his ability to

(06:05):
cover as a corner maybe gotten to the point of
where he should think about being a safety and covering
more space and not having to cover corner or excuse me,
receivers man the man Now now his responsibilities and his
duties would be more specified to covering tight ends like

(06:27):
bigger guys, you know, not so much the smaller guys,
but play over top defense. But he's also someone that
you would need in the run. And that's that's why
the amount of tackles is so important in terms of
what they bring to the table. Now, I mean his
stats are are somewhat comparable in terms of tackles sixty tackles,

(06:54):
twenty one assists, one one sack, two interceptions. Listen, that's
not a bad bad year statistically for a corner either
depending on how often he's playing and depending on how
many times they throw the ball his way. Two interceptions
is not something that you would say is a is

(07:17):
a great year by any stretch of the imagination. So,
but that's right around what he's pretty much averaged his
entire career. Like, I think the most he's he's had
is four in a year for interceptions. So I would
be interested to see what his past breakups are, his
past defenses are. I'm not I'm not going to say

(07:41):
it's a horrible move or it's a bad move by
either team. I don't did. I do not think that
Minka Fitzpatrick is slipping. I don't. I think he's still
a fine football player and has some some fine football
left in him. And and so I think that's a
positive addition for for Miami, especially because I mean, this

(08:05):
is a team that has a lot of talent, and
you lose a Jalen Ramsey, you were going to lose him.
It sounds like anyway. So to lose Jalen Ramsey, but
to be able to replace it with a Minka Fitzpatrick
that I think that that's a win for Miami. Now
you have a young player and Joey Porter junior that

(08:28):
plays cornerback in and he has continued to improve and
improve and improve. If you're playing Jalen Ramsey as another corner,
then I'm interested to see how much he has left
because that can make their defensive secondary pretty formidable. If
he still has something left in the tank. I don't know.

(08:49):
That's a big question mark. If he can play, make
the switch and be a good safety, I don't. There's
no comp on knowing if he can be a good safety.
But the look of it and even getting the tight end,
the looks of it, it did not hurt the Steelers.
I don't believe it. I could be wrong.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
I think it helped them.

Speaker 4 (09:12):
I could be wrong. I don't know yet if it
helped them. I know that gives them depth at the
tight ends position. But what will Jalen Ramsey be as
a Pittsburgh Steeler. I'm not I'm not sure. I'm not sure.
So while I'll say I don't believe they hurt themselves.
I don't know if they helped themselves, but again, I

(09:34):
think it raises it continues to raise the stakes for
decisions that they've made. Getting rid of a beloved player,
a leader, a playmaker for their team and bringing in
a guy that could potentially be a lightning rod in
terms of how he handles things. It's a it's a

(09:55):
wait and see situation.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
I would say, I look at it and I go,
they got rid of Mika Fitzpatrick and they added Jalen
Ramsey and John new Smith to me in just a
two for one. From that standpoint, I like the move
for Pittsburgh, and I also would trust that they would
figure out a way to make sure they're getting the
most out of Jalen Ramsey whatever, you know, whatever that

(10:18):
version of him looks like this at this point in
his career, whether he's playing cornerback, whether he's transitions to safety, whatever.
And then with John hu Smith, you know you're you're
getting him back. With Arthur Smith, you know there's there's
that relationship that's there and those guys that go back
to Tennessee days together. I look at this and I go,

(10:39):
if you're Pittsburgh. If you're a Steelers fan and you've
been wondering whether or not they would get aggressive in
any of these off seasons, over the past number of years,
they've gotten aggressive. They've made a ton of moves, which
tells me everybody there is starting to feel the heat
because you don't normally see Pittsburgh go out and spend
big money and go after a guy like DK metc

(11:00):
came Metcalf, They added Darius Slay, they add John Newsmith,
they add Jalen Ramsey, They go out, they get Rogers.
This is a completely different looking Steelers. It's a completely
different approach to the Steelers, and one that Jalen Ramsey
himself yesterday on social media out He sent out a
little something via his social media account talking about his

(11:23):
excitement when it comes to the well, we'll get that
at some point later on. We'll effort that at some
point here. But nonetheless, Jalen Ramsey was excited about being
a Pittsburgh Steeler, so much so that he took to
social media.

Speaker 5 (11:47):
In Pittsburgh, toughness isn't a trait, it's a tradition and
this city has always had a thing for defense with
an edge now there's a new name stepping into the black,
and dais shutdown corner, relentless competitor, a walking chip on
his shoulder with four wheels and no brakes. He talks loud,

(12:10):
he hits hard. He didn't come to change what Pittsburgh
stands for. He came to show he belongs on steels,
sharpened steel, and the Steelers just about sharper.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
Did you think about that? Far? What do you think
about that?

Speaker 4 (12:27):
I mean, that was nice, sounded.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
Good representing you're Steelers. You're not more excited about this?
Come on, var Steelers are back.

Speaker 4 (12:36):
I'm skeptical, man, I'm just skeptical. That's all skeptical about
the looks of it. Minka had four past defenses, while
I believe Jayleen Ramsey had seven. No, no, not seven

(12:58):
past defenses. He had eleven. So I mean, it's not bad.
It's not bad. It's not bad. I mean it's it
could turn out to be a really good pick. I mean,
it's still a name that says elite corner. But it
doesn't come without wondering is he still an elite corner?

(13:23):
Does that make sense? He's still it's a name that
says elite corner, but does he still have elite cornerback
game left in him? That's I mean, that's the first
question that comes to mind for me. But again, the
Pittsburgh's defense, the Steeler defense they could have used, They
could have been a little better. They could have been

(13:46):
a little better last year. Uh And and just knowing
that it's coverage. It's all about coverage. It's all about
the way you're able to defend against the past these days.
Are you able to get to the quarterback or are
you able to cover the quarterback? And the Pittsburgh Steelers
strong unit, you know, they they I mean they were high.

(14:10):
They were they were ranked high in some pretty pretty good,
you know categories. They were good against the past with
in terms of past rush with TJ. Watt, they're pre
decent against the run. But they could have been better.
I mean they they definitely could have been better, and
this team overall could have been better. I just I

(14:33):
think there's a lot of pressure. I think there's a
lot of pressure on Pittsburgh Steelers to be able to
create a better, a better scenario, better outcomes for their
team this year. And we'll see. I mean, they're certainly
not going to get criticized for not making an assertive
effort during this offseason to to be a better team.

(14:55):
I mean, they certainly won't get the blame on that.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
Well, and I think that's to me, that's what stands
out the most about this move with the other moves
they've made in the off season, Clearly they looked around
and realize, we got work to do, because if not
for the Cleveland Browns, that team's the worst team in
that division. And Cincinnati feels like, you know, I know,

(15:19):
they've got to get the Trey Hendrickson stuff figured out,
but Cincinnati feels like they they're ascending. That's a dangerous team.
Pittsburgh's been kind of caught in the middle a little bit.
And I do think that at least, at the very least,
you're gonna walk away from this year going hey, at
least we may we gave it a run. We didn't
just accept the same old, same old every single offseason.

(15:40):
At least we made some moves. At least we got aggressive.
Roll the dice, see if Jalen Ramsey has a little
something left, See if Rogers has a little something that left.
Reunite John Newsmith, bringing dk Metcalf all of a sudden,
it's a new look, and for me, it makes this
team that much more intriguing going into the season and
going into the training camp.

Speaker 4 (15:59):
I definitely intriguing. And it'll be definitely interesting to see
if this because the biggest question still remains, did these
moves make you competitive against Baltimore and Cincinnati? That's that's
going to be the biggest question. And listen, Cincinnati has
been known to play down or play like Cincinnati Bengals,

(16:24):
you know, and they've they've been good. They've they've they've
got a lot of talent, and they got probably I mean,
you could debate if he's the best quarterback in in
the AFC, nor if you could debate if he's a
top top you know, three, top five quarterback in in
the league. So in Joe Burrow. But they have not

(16:46):
always played up to their potential, and so that'll be
interesting to see. How will Cincinnati play. They still have
some some outstanding issues they need to tie up and
take care of. Baltimore has seemingly become kind of it's
their division, So how are they going to look this year?

(17:08):
Are they going to be that? I think we look
at Baltimore and say how much better are they going
to be than what they were the year before because
they continue to improve. And so to me, it's like
you could do a great job on your off season,
but how much better have you made your team good
enough to be able to compete against Baltimore and Cincinnati.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
I mean that's some would say yes, yeah, some would
say yes, that's the uh. And look, it's not like
we haven't seen teams go out and make a bunch
of moves. The Eagles back in twenty eleven that went
out and signed nomdi asom Wan all those guys, and
then it turned out they were a five hundred team
of the regular season. So it could end up being
like that. But I just it would give me if

(17:50):
I were a Steelers fan, it would give me a
little bit more hope going into next year knowing, well,
at least we got aggressive and if it all fails miserably,
then heads are probably gonna roll after the year and
then and then you just pick up the pieces moving forward.
So but that is the up to That is the
big trade in the NFL yesterday Dolphins Steelers Mika Fitzpatrick

(18:13):
and a pick swap heading to the to the Miami

A tire buying should be coming up here in a

(21:02):
little over fifteen minutes from now, we are going to
tell you about a giant group of haters, A giant
group of haters in the world of sports. X. No, no,
this is even worse. Somebody's getting it worse than I am.
So yeah, so that'll be a giant group of haters
we'll have for you again a little over fifteen minutes
from now. According to Mary Kaycabot of Cleveland dot Com,

(21:27):
Deshaun Watson was involved inside the quarterback room this offseason
for the Browns and he has served as a little
bit of a mentor slash sounding board for the other quarterbacks.
Now does that make you feel less confident about the
quarterback play in Cleveland this year? Upon finding out that information.

Speaker 4 (21:50):
That Deshaun Watson has taken your door under his wing,
I mean we make a lot of jokes about Deshaun Watson.
But if we were actually able to really focus in
on just football, if we were able to just focus
in on what Deshaun Watson has accomplished and the things
he has done, which I'm sure some people are able

(22:12):
to do so, then it's not It doesn't sound horrible.
I just think that what he has gone through and
what he has been accused of and what has really
really in a lot of ways I guess altered his
his career ultimately continues to be the focal point of

(22:38):
when you hear Deshaun Watson's name. I would be curious
as to what Dion Code, his dad, what he thinks
about it. I mean, I'm sure he's very very happy
about it, probably you know, grateful or gracious that that

(23:00):
Deshaun Watson would offer to take him under his wing.
I mean, listen, it takes making mistakes to be able
to be an example to others to tell them not
to make the same mistakes that you've made. Uh, And
so there's something to it. I'm sure there's a value
to it. I mean, Shador Sanders has been raised. I
mean I feel like just being around Prime and being

(23:24):
around them as they were growing up. They were raised
in a very, very loving environment and in a responsible environment.
Dion is a responsible dude. I think he's done an
excellent job of fine job of raising his children as
a man. So, you know, how how much does does

(23:48):
Shador Sanders really need in terms of somebody taking them
under his wing. I mean, he's had the support of
Tom Brady during his development years and still continues to
this day. He's he's had a lot of support from
people that can help him become more and more of
a better quarterback through the years. So I don't see

(24:09):
it being like this egregious thing. I would probably say
the biggest question mark for me would be do you
run the risk of guilt by association? You know? That
would be my only question, Like are you comfortable with
the idea of something like this, like a narrative getting
out that, oh, Deshaun Watson is taking Schador, you know,

(24:31):
Shador under his wing? Well what is that? What does
that really look like? How does the media interpret that?
And that would probably be the only kind of concern
that I would have towards it, because I mean, it's
not like Deshaun Watson's going to be like, hey, get
over here, kid, Yeah, this is how you become a
better quarterback. We're going to go to this massage parlor

(24:51):
later on, and you bring your money because you're paying
for the first Like, I don't, I don't see that
being you know, I don't see that being the case.
I think he had to learn a lot and overcome
a lot.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
Not that wrong kid, the one with the neon lights
in front of it.

Speaker 4 (25:04):
Yeah, I don't. I don't. I don't see that being
I don't I don't see that being how how it
plays out.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
I just the more that we hear about the Browns
just need to get to the preseason is what they
need to do. They need and I'm not even talking
about training camp. Get to some preseason games and let's
start getting this stuff sorted out and figured out on
the field, because at this point there are so many
different layers and so many different angles on what could

(25:34):
happen and what might happen and who's got a voice
in what when it comes to the Browns quarterback room.
And it's just now July, and look we've laid it
out before. All of this is the doing of Jimmy Haslam,
who you know, had to step in. He needed to,
you know, sign to Sean Watson and trickle down effect

(25:54):
and all the other things that have gone on. But
it just strikes me as a team, as an organization,
as a coaching staff that just wants to get to
the preseason so they can start to identify, all right,
who's the guy who's not and let's move on with
our lives. Deshaun Watson getting involved in mentoring people, Okay,

(26:17):
I mean, that's an expensive mentor. I'll say that like that.
That's got to be the wealthiest mentor in the history
of the NFL, because he's he's getting paid two hundred
thirty million dollars to tell people what to do whenever.
Since he's gone there, it's been a disaster.

Speaker 4 (26:35):
And it may possibly never play another down FW yes,
ball like that's that's that's pretty interesting. But again it's
sometimes the best mentors are the people who have gone
through the most. He has gone through some real, real
high peaks, and he has gone through some really really

(26:55):
low valleys. I mean, I'm sure he has a lot
of of very very impactful stories and tales of caution.
I'm sure he has a lot of advice that if
somebody's willing to listen to him, and he's that type
of person that could be very valuable. It could be

(27:19):
very very valuable to someone as as you know, popular
and out in the front as Shador Sanders is, and
and there could be things that he can help him
with that he talks to him about that ultimately could
get him to a big contract for whatever it's worth.
Deshaun Watson played himself into a guaranteed contract of over

(27:45):
two hundred and thirty million dollars. So which real is
that there's that piece of information there.

Speaker 1 (27:51):
Which should be the first line in his bio when
people read about his career down the road, got paid
two hundred and thirty million dollars guaranteed and leave several
spaces and then get to the other stuff. And then
once you get to the other stuff, you go back
up to the first line and go and he still
got paid all that money. Oh yeah, yeah yeah. In fact,

(28:11):
his deal had the owners and the players get together
have a meeting, ripping too Russell Wilson and then try
to hide the testimony and the text messages from NFLPA presidents, etc.

Speaker 3 (28:25):
Etc.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
Because of what he did to guarantee contracts that really
should be the heading of his career when it comes
to what he has done in the NFL. I wonder
this as well too, And maybe this is just me.
Do you think Deshaun Watson feels bad about not living
up to the contract or do you think he's like, man,

(28:47):
I f you guys, you offered it, I signed on
the dotted line, and we're off and running. Do you
think he feels I.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
Don't think he relates the two. As an athlete, I
don't think you really related to the business is the business.
The athletics is the athletics. So I'm not I would
doubt he would sit there and be like, I got
my money, I'm cool. I don't. I don't think that
that's how he's thinking. I really believe in his heart
of hearts, he wants to prove. He wants to prove

(29:16):
to the Cleveland Browns people, he wants to prove to
his peers, he wants to prove to the media. He
wants to prove it to himself that he can be
that elite quarterback once again in the league. I truly
believe that's how Deshaun Watson looks at this, and so
I don't think that he wanted to be a dud

(29:37):
of a highly paid pick for them, you know, a
choice for them. I think he really would like to
have outplayed the stain that no pun intended, but outplayed
a stain on his career that was created by what
took place in Houston.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
I mean, good luck man.

Speaker 4 (30:02):
Well, I don't, I really don't. It's that's you know,
you ultimately have to look at things from a point
of view of reality versus perception, or reality versus you know,
kind of I guess how you're seeing it, and his
reality is how he sees it, but it might not

(30:25):
be the reality of the situation. And sometimes the reality
of how you see a situation can end up being
what it really is. You can work your way into it.
Things can happen where you make what it is that
you have going on a reality in your life. He
just hasn't been able to do that, and at this

(30:47):
point it's it's probably more of an uphill battle for
him to do so. So I think that there are
other ways not just trying to become, you know, get
back and be the quarter back that you know, can
justify that amount of money that he was paid. First
of all, he doesn't have to justify anything. He's already

(31:08):
been given a guaranteed contract, so he doesn't have to
justify what it is that he's done. But it would
be interesting for him to make a difference. And making
a difference doesn't always necessarily mean the way you throw
the ball or the stats that you get on game day.
It could be what you do to help, you know,

(31:30):
others to not make the same mistakes that you have made.
And so maybe that's what the whole idea of, you know,
taking Shador under his wing, making sure that he stays
on the focused, straight and narrow path of just being
a good person and being a good player in the league.
Maybe that's the extent of it. Maybe that's his reprieve.

(31:51):
Maybe that's how he's working off some of the money
that I mean to imagine that he's played as little
as he's played and seemingly will not play much more
than what he's already played, and this is the amount
of money that he's getting. I mean, I think that
that's pretty cool that you would take the initiative to help.
I mean, it would have been nice to hear that

(32:12):
he's helping both of the rookie.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
Well, I think he. I think he had. He's been
a mentor so and and the idea has been a
and Dylan Gabriel talked about, you know, being able to
talk with all the quarterbacks. It wasn't just Shador that
he's taken out here.

Speaker 4 (32:25):
That's a and that's a big part of it. That's
a big part of it to not single out Shador
Sanders and say he's mentoring Shador.

Speaker 1 (32:33):
I'll tell you this right now. If I'm Joe Flacco,
I'm pissed because Joe Flacco is like, so, that guy's
getting two thirty guaranteed and he's just a mentor. I
could be a mentor and play at a high level
or at least just play. I should get at least
two fifty. But he's not. So it's a it's an
unfair it's an unfair situation.

Speaker 4 (32:55):
Flag. I think you just want to have the opportunity
to play at this point and make a couple more dollars.
I don't think he's concerning himself with any of that.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
In fact, he does one thing I could do too.

Speaker 4 (33:08):
He shouldn't be upset, he should be happy because because
it's because of everything that Deshaun Watson hasn't done. In fact,
it's because of everything he has done before the before
he hasn't done that has given him the opportunity to
be able to be on this team anyway. So I

(33:28):
don't think he's upset at Deshaun Watson. In fact, go
mentor them young boys, because I'm worrying about playing. I'm
trying to work and get this starting job.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
I'm trying to get out of the house. It is

Speaker 8 (34:50):
Good don't forward in every b Good morning Jonason, Good morning, LeVar, Hey,
Hey LeVar, Hey.

Speaker 1 (35:07):
Lee mal.

Speaker 9 (35:10):
Malfunction, malfunction, what hey LeVar? Well, in case you missed this, LeVar.
The WNBA and now it's on Sunday.

Speaker 4 (35:23):
I missed it.

Speaker 10 (35:23):
Oh yeah, this was two days ago that Kaylyn Clark
and the Minnesota Lynx Star and if you said Collier I,
have been named the two captains of the WNBA.

Speaker 1 (35:34):
All Star Game.

Speaker 10 (35:36):
They finished first and second, respectively and voting one point
two million votes for Caitlin Clark one point two million
votes also for Callier. But put this in perspective, you guys,
if you looked into twenty twenty three Collier's votes top

(35:57):
all thirty All Star votes.

Speaker 1 (35:59):
Combined, and.

Speaker 10 (36:01):
Was this trying to say the top thirty All Star
vote getters combined three.

Speaker 1 (36:10):
Malfunction? Yes, I'm trying to ready, So the players voted
Kitlyn Clark ninth. She was ninth in voting, and so
is it well when you see the split between that
and what the fan voting is. And I'm not necessarily
pro let fans vote for everybody because then it turns

(36:30):
into a popularity contest. But I don't know, it feels
like Caitlyn Clark would be a little bit higher than ninth.

Speaker 4 (36:38):
You know.

Speaker 1 (36:39):
It just feels like another example of a little bit
of hating going on from other players in the league
for whatever reason, you know, I mean, look, you know,
hating or is.

Speaker 4 (36:50):
She really ninth in terms of being voted a.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
Cap I don't There's a lot of listen, NBA players
voted Tyrese Haliburton most overrated. You know, coaches years ago
said James Franklin was one of the most overrated coaches.
All of those still saying that, Yeah, So I don't.
I mean, I think maybe some people just don't get
the respect initially, but when you watch her play, it's

(37:17):
hard to imagine that she's the ninth best player in
the league, is it. But again, LaVar is the WNBA guy.
I don't want to speak on his behalf when it
comes to his insider knowledge on this stuff. I'm just
an outsider looking in at this whole thing.

Speaker 4 (37:32):
I mean, I think Caitlyn Clark has to be in
the conversation. I mean, you got Ajah Wilson, She's been
literally the best by herself. No, Fisa Collier plays for
the Lynx's, she's a beast. Brenda Stewart, Paige Paige, Uh,

(37:54):
I don't even I know, I don't even know how
to say her name. Never tried to say Beckers. There
you go, Kelsey, you know, Kelsey Plumb, she's in there.
I mean, there are there are women in there that
you could say, make a case for being at this point,
right now in their career, better players than Kitlyn Clark.

(38:17):
Caitlyn Clark is trying, you know, she's she's going up,
She's she's she's proving that she is a star in
this league, in a top star in this league. But
is she a top two like you're you're a captain
with AJA like you know, I don't, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (38:38):
My favorite part about this is that how people that
defend Caitlyn Clark, like the Caitlyn Clark fanboys and fangirls
out there that are looking for any sign of disrespect
to immediately jump on it again, like cannot wait for it.
And I'm at the point now to where I don't

(39:00):
care either way. I'm going to take the side of
whatever's going to piss off the most people. And I'm
telling you right now, I agree she is the ninth
best player. Okay, she's ninth in my voting as well too.

Speaker 4 (39:12):
So I think you gotta look at it like this, right,
you gotta look at it like this. She's probably a
top top five player, probably right.

Speaker 1 (39:26):
Not on my list, tell you that right now.

Speaker 4 (39:28):
It's interesting, you know, at one point Plexico Burrs was
crushing the league statistically as a receiver, never made a
Pro Bowl, never got the votes to get into a
Pro Bowl. So I mean it's a popularity contest and
some aspects as well. You know, her being voted ninth

(39:51):
might not be all about how good she is in
terms of being you know, I guess worthy of being
a captain. It's just more or less how many of
them girls like her or not too. I mean, she's
not there to be a popular you know, it's not
there to be a popularity contest. She is popular with
the fan base and that's really all she needs.

Speaker 1 (40:12):
And I would say the more that you is it
villainize or villify, whatever you want to call it. The
more you create sort of this villain aura around Caitlin Clark,
the more people are going to be interested to want
to tune in and watch because they want to see, Oh,
is there going to be another fight? Is she gonna
get pushed again? Is she gonna get shoved? Are they
going to pull out a shive? Like we're like we're

(40:33):
in a prison movie, Like what like what's going to
happen with her? Is Sophie Cunningham all of a sudden
going to walk up with a trestleches, barstool shirt? Like
what what are we gonna get? It has created this
buzz around her to where I now people are just
tuning in to see how she's going to be treated,
like there is something to that. So maybe something worse.

Speaker 4 (40:56):
She keeps the conversations going and that's really all that matters.
And she really can play ball.

Speaker 10 (41:00):
And she's expanding the league. Now we've got teams in Cleveland, Detroit,
and Philly. By the way, Quinton, Yeah, little breaking news here.
She's now moved to eleventh on my list, not ninth. Oh,
just like that.

Speaker 1 (41:14):
A good number though these are floating numbers. Wow,
