How the hell we feel in here on a Thursday morning?
Speaker 4 (02:17):
Ha? Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, hell yeah yeah? Travel day baby?
Oh yeah?
Speaker 1 (02:26):
How long is that gonna take? Four days?
Speaker 4 (02:28):
Every all day?
Speaker 5 (02:30):
Houston? We have a problem, don't I know you're down.
I know you're biased to Penn State, But wouldn't you
like it to be a little bit easier to get there?
Speaker 4 (02:41):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (02:43):
Yeah, I just I've said this to you before. I
think people underestimate the power of a head football coach
of the major college football team in that state. I
would literally lobby the state to figure out that airport situation,
like you gotta you gotta get more flights in their
bigger plans in That.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Wasn't James Franklin conversation. Wasn't Franklin trying to do that?
Didn't he bring it up?
Speaker 4 (03:06):
It's I don't know, ilive, I.
Speaker 5 (03:08):
Don't know what he was trying to do. I just
know there's there's do or don't, and he was getting
it done.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
So it's been brought up a few times. It's just
you know, it's uh yeah, it's one of it's one
of our one deals that I think we could certainly
improve on that that it would help be nice to Yeah,
it would be nice to be able to get in
there with one flight. I mean too, it's not that bad,
(03:36):
but it kind of is because it's just, I don't know, man,
walking walking these airports nowadays, they'll have you walk thirty
minutes to your gate. You'll be sitting at your gate
for like five minutes, and then they'll be like, oh yeah,
now it's a gate change. Da Da da, And it's
like it's no problem, there's a gate change. But then
when you start to go to the gate and then
(03:57):
you realize it's another twenty minute, thirty minute walk to
get to the new gate, it just, I don't know, man,
just seems a tap bit inconvenient. It makes the you know,
kind of the flight a little stressful because you don't
know if they're going to change your your gate number
on you. I've I've had that happen to me several
times where I almost missed my flight because I'm sitting
at the gate and I didn't realize there was a
(04:18):
gate change. So but anyways, that that's not just about.
Speaker 5 (04:21):
When you realize there was a gate change. I don't know,
like or something.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely, I zone out. I just I got
I find my gate.
Speaker 5 (04:30):
You're looking at like, I G you're probably watching something,
you know.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
I listen to my music and I people watch. I
am a classic people watcher. I watch people. Yeah. I
look at couples like what they're what they what they're
built not and not.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
That's a sport.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
Yeah, I just I like, how do these people love
each other? They look like they should love each other, like, wow,
good looking kids, but they're not looking you know.
Speaker 5 (04:58):
It's like a serial killer, is he not?
Speaker 4 (05:00):
Yeah? This guy is this person?
Speaker 5 (05:03):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (05:04):
Yeah? People watch man like okay, yeah, people watch and
I judge. I draw conclusions and that's fun for me.
That's better than like sitting on social or playing a
video game. I like to play people.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Judge from the far people right, that's correct.
Speaker 5 (05:21):
Judge from a var Yeah there you go, well done, guys.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
Hell yeah, top that. You know.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
You know, what's fd up about the flight from l
A to State college, you leave at eight as there
is none you leave at eight am and you land
at six people.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
At eight am. No, you land at eight am, at
eight am eight pm.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Because the three hour difference in the connector flight, the
entire day is chewed up.
Speaker 4 (05:47):
Literally literally a data to travel. I'll get in at
nine to nine pm tonight. Damn stupid man.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Why why nine pm?
Speaker 4 (06:00):
Because I have fly fly to Chicago and then I
have to layover from Chicago and that's what time I
get in and I'm flying to Harrisburg because there were
no he's gotta drive because there was what I'm talking
about to the State College and now I got to
drive an hour and a half.
Speaker 5 (06:16):
It's not even about flying direct even even with a stop.
There's just not many options, like to even get into
the stop. Like it's just I don't know. I've said
that before. I'll sit it again. It holds back Penn
State from recruiting. And I've talked to Coach Meyer about this,
like every time we fly there, it's like, man, if
we're flying like this, but you know, think about recruits
(06:39):
thinking about their parents in comparison to other places where
they can fly direct or it's a much easier process.
It's people people will hold that against that school. They
will It sounds stupid, but if like everything's equal, they're
going to use things like that to say, well, it's
hard to get to I don't want my kid to
go there. If it's hard to get to.
Speaker 4 (06:58):
Central Pennsylvania isn't bad for driving driving states though, which
is that's probably always been kind of our saving grace
is like Pittsburgh it's an easy drive, Philly it's an
easy drive. Jersey it's an easy drive. New York is manageable.
It's not not bad. Virginia Eaton it's pretty easy drive.
So it's like that's the saving grace is if you're
(07:22):
able to do what you need to do locally, then
you know it's it's not so bad, but just economy wise,
just you know, the the way the city is ran
and the way it is. I mean, a bigger airport
would be advantageous for for State College, but you know,
I'm not the decision maker there. I don't get paid
(07:44):
to figure that out or do the planning or the
zoning and all that stuff. I just try to fly
in there and hope I can get a flight in there.
And today I think it.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
Assume if they, if they were trying to pay you,
you'd be like, Yep, I'm right there for you. I'll
figure this out.
Speaker 4 (07:57):
I mean instead, I'm a just be eating some zombie
wings before I get onto about have a LeVar Allen.
Speaker 5 (08:07):
Hell yeah, now you guys, what up zombies?
Speaker 4 (08:15):
No, man, I'm Jonas Knox. I do things better than that. Well,
you got Jonas? What what what are we doing today? Man?
What are we delivering to the people some of.
Speaker 5 (08:23):
The Let's let's talk on the rundown first.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
What you guys wanted to do?
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Uh, Week ten in the NFL is already here, believe
it or not, and we've got ourselves.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
That's crazy, man, quick.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
Yeah, Denver a nine and a half point favorite on
DraftKings coming up later on tonight. And you guys remember
that story we were hearing about how Tom Brady would
would give the Raiders a competitive advantage based on all
the games. Well, just you know that that was like
the big talking point that hey.
Speaker 5 (08:56):
This is not he's not coaching, he's not you know, playing. Yeah,
I don't get it. What advantages he getting?
Speaker 1 (09:02):
I mean, well, upon further review.
Speaker 4 (09:04):
Weren't people up in arms about it though, Like wasn't
like a real story, like he can't he shouldn't be
allowed to call guys.
Speaker 5 (09:11):
Yeah, well do you mean because he's getting information in
the meetings? You mean that sort of.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
Information, like all that all that fun stuff. The Raiders
are way worse.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
Than I thought they'd be.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
I I did not. I thought I thought there would
be something better than this.
Speaker 5 (09:25):
They haven't had Bowers though. I mean, look what happens
when they had him back last week. They take jacksfield
over time Bowers goes off. I mean, he completely changes
the complex of this offense. When you include like his
ability to be a mismatch in the pass game and
then Jent in the backfield, it is a nice they're
building blocks. It's a nice combination. Like I thought last
(09:48):
week was an example of like, all right, this is
what the offense can kind of look like. They're just
devoid of anything else outside of that on the end,
you know, on the perimeter, you know, they just trider
away Jacobe Myers, you know, so he's gone, He's went
to the team they played there, and there's really no
answers there. So if Bowers can stay healthy and Michael
(10:10):
Mayer can be there they can have that too tight
end set. That's how that offense is built, Like, that's
how Chip Kelly has built this offense to run the football,
play action, you know, use Bowers as a mismatch, but
they just don't have enough firepower in my opinion, to
be able to consistently compete. Did you think are competitive
but that was it?
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Did you think Gino would struggle this much?
Speaker 5 (10:31):
Again, I don't. I don't think Gino struggles when they're healthy.
Like you look at this past week. He didn't struggle.
He played great. Is arguably one of his best games
as a Raider. They just they like they literally when
when Bowers isn't there, they don't there's nothing. And that's
the toughest spot to being as a quarterback. And I
don't mean to say that, like in as disrespect to
(10:51):
the players who are there, Like I played with you
know a lot of different players, a lot of different teams.
What you realize as a quarterback is there's some receivers
who can get separation. There's some who can consistently make
a contested catch at the NFL level, and there's others
who they're just that's that's not really they're not capable
of that, and that's okay, Like, you know, there's ways
(11:13):
of scheming things up and ways of getting guys open.
But I'm just saying, like there's the extraordinary guys, and
there's guys who are difference makers like Bowers, and then
there's you know, other guys who are are just playing
those roles, and like, if you don't have one of
those guys or two of those guys in the perimeter,
you're gonna struggle. And that's where their offense has been
largely without Brock Bowers there. So I just I looked
(11:36):
at it and said that there was always going to
be a rebuilding year, and once Bowers went out, you
kind of looked at it and just go, I don't
know what the identity of this offense is because they
don't really have anything without Bowers being a pass catcher
for them, even with gent in the backfield, like they like,
you can only run the football so much, So I
don't I don't.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
Like.
Speaker 5 (11:55):
Again, I look at Gino, I think, yeah, he's struggled.
But because they don't have anyone else who can separate,
who can do anything, I mean, they're gonna have to
strap together. Ten twelve play drives just to score, just
to even get a field goal attempt, because they don't
have enough big playmakers and people who could do something
outside of ours.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
And how does Tom Brady exactly improve what Brady just
said by being in those team meetings. I don't know.
That's perplexing to me as to how that would impact
their team anyway positively. But you know, I look at
this this game and I find it to be way
(12:36):
more intriguing to see what Denver does in this game
versus the Raiders. I think we know who the Raiders are.
It's a team that isn't going to be a good team.
I mean, I think that's a safe conclusion. And I
think that there's really no other meat on that bone
other than you know there they stink.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
They're devoid of meat, their.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
Devo met think. But I do wonder about this Broncos team.
I wonder, you know, what direction that they will end
up in as the season wears on. They have they
have proven that they're they're a legit team, like they have.
(13:20):
They have proven that that they can win, and and
it just makes you wonder, Like, you know, Bo Nix
has had his moments, but Bo Knicks has also had
low moments. What is Boonix going to be? Can can
he get to that next level? You know? JK. Dobbins
looks good now that he's healthy. I just I look
at this Broncos team. Their defense plays some really really
(13:42):
good defense. It's showing the traits of a classic Sean
Payton lad team. What does this game look like? It's
a it's a divisional opponent. We all know, even when
teams stink, divisional divisional opponents play each other pretty hard.
And you'll see, you know, the Raiders make a game
(14:03):
of it here and there against the Chiefs or against
the Broncos. You just's that's just how that's the nature
of the beast. That's how it goes. So I'm curious
to see, can can Denver have an impressive showing in
this game tonight? And what does that look like? I mean,
I don't think you take much more from it other
than it's at least a team that we know can
(14:26):
win the games they're supposed to win. And it's getting
to that time of the year where you shouldn't lose
games that you should win if you're a team that
is actually going to be a contender. As the year,
wears on.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
Defense is really good and they get after the quarterback
really good, and I just I don't know if they're good.
It just feels like there's something off about bow Knicks
this year and the offense as opposed to last year.
And Justin Cooper gets his trousers all tight in the
front every time they're on TV and every time they're
just us because he thinks this is a legitimate team
(15:03):
and so you know he's staring through the glass. But look, man,
I mean, they struggled against Houston after C. J. Stroud
got knocked out last week. They've just they've struggled in
these moments and you're looking at these games going, well,
it shouldn't be that close, should it. So I just
I don't know if they're good yet. Here they are
halfway point of the season and they're they're going to
(15:25):
be battling down the stretch for the one seed in
the AFC, like they might get the buy based on
how things finish up, and they're leading that division. So
I don't know. I'm just I'm trying to figure out
what the hell they are. So maybe this is their
coming out party, but I'm actually surprised the line wasn't bigger.
I thought it would be more.
Speaker 5 (15:42):
Really, yeah, and that's a big line for an NFL game,
you know. Like the thing that concerns me with them
is they're what four to zh when trailing going into
the fourth quarter and saying, well, why are they trailing
for about half their games going to the fourth quarter?
I mean, is that signaling that they're closer to a
five hundred team then most people realize it, or maybe
(16:03):
a losing team in that sense, like like why are
they having so many issues worth getting their offense going
in the first three quarters of games where they've constantly
got to make these heroic comebacks. I mean there's something
to that being able to have to resolved to be
able to win enough games to be seven to two
and a team that's looked at as a.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
Playoff you mean like the Giants game where they scored
thirty three in the fourth like that game?
Speaker 5 (16:25):
Yeah, like something like that, Like, like what is the
need or why do they have this issue with trying
to score points earlier in games? I Mean, Sean Payne's
one of the best offensive minds I would think, like
his scripting for the beginning of the game and then
even come out halftime. Like a lot of people don't
talk about this, but you know, most coaches have a script,
you know, so you're not practicing quite as much as
(16:47):
you go into to a game necessarily, but you've got
a pretty good idea of what those first five, six, seven,
eight plays are going to be coming out of halftime,
and that and that next drive because you just have
a little bit more time to all be together and talk.
You're always evolving and changing, but with each drive, it's
not like, you know, everyone's, oh, they're gonna make adjustments
(17:09):
at halftime. It's like, dude, every drive, you're making adjustments.
You know, You're not. You're not like waiting until you
all get into the locker room, have your juice box
and sit down and like talk about it. It's like
you're you're constantly making adjustments. It's just at halftime you
have the ability to say, all right, let's reset here.
This is what we're doing. This is what we're doing here.
All the coaches are together, we're all good. We're on
(17:29):
the saying okay, good good. What's the injury situation? All right?
You know where guys at can you go? Can you
not go? You know, those things are a little bit
more deeply discussed than what you get on headsets, kind
of dispersed across the sideline, it up in the box.
So that's that's the biggest difference. But I just I
wonder why they've been such a slow starting team, you know,
when you look at their their scores this season.
Speaker 4 (17:51):
Yeah, it's been Nevertheless, they've been an impressive team, though,
I mean in terms of for me, what I thought
they would be and what they are.
Speaker 5 (18:00):
I mean, are they another one you thought wouldn't be
very good?
Speaker 4 (18:04):
I thought the Broncos would be Okay, I didn't. I
didn't think that they would be a too a two
lost team.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
Where did I happen?
Speaker 5 (18:15):
I thought they'd be third in the division and that
they're obviously better than that.
Speaker 4 (18:19):
Right now?
Speaker 1 (18:20):
Did I have them?
Speaker 4 (18:22):
They are?
Speaker 1 (18:23):
I think I don't know a card team.
Speaker 5 (18:25):
I don't think so. You missed too many picks. You
missed too many picks to be uh to be claiming
them as anything.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
Well, I mean, until there's proof, I can say whatever
I want. I mean, I had them at seven and two.
Speaker 5 (18:36):
That's usually what you do.
Speaker 4 (18:37):
Yes, Yeah, it's correct what you do.
Speaker 1 (18:39):
Yeah, I need proof, by the way the little fine
system tally that we've got going on the Google doc.
Speaker 5 (18:47):
You're not you're not even in it, Like what do
you care?
Speaker 1 (18:50):
Well, who's judging the fines? Like, who's who's handing out these?
Speaker 5 (18:56):
Well, here's one for you, just like you would like
we're all judging Jonas. That way, we can all make
the decision, right.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Jonas, Hey, I wish that were the case on this show. Yeah,
that's ten dollars.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
That's ten dollars right now. It was direct, that was one.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
Direct shot.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
Yeah, yeah, that was to the fine ban again.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Son of a bitch. This is like, this whole thing is.
Speaker 5 (19:23):
Readying fine for it because to your point, it wasn't passive.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
This is so that was super passive aggressive.
Speaker 5 (19:31):
Aggressive.
Speaker 4 (19:32):
Oh gosh, all right, I think we can.
Speaker 5 (19:34):
All agree though, we're all on the same page with this.
I mean, there's only twenty bucks in the pod.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
So yeah, no, I said, I'm throwing an initial ten,
initial twenty. I don't have a problem with that.
Speaker 5 (19:45):
No, no, no, you're not can find twenty for that. We're
really doing ten bucks.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
For it, all right, you know, but if we're going
out to eat with it, you know, you know, I
can contribute.
Speaker 5 (19:54):
Trust me, we'll get there quick with Jonas. He's not
on the board yet, but he will.
Speaker 4 (19:59):
I just don't know what how Transylvania dollars work.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
Yeah, yeah, what is the currency? I don't know there.
Speaker 5 (20:05):
Yeah, it's US dollars, Jonas. You have to pay up
at some point.
Speaker 4 (20:10):
Don't vampires have gold? Though? They have gold gold coins
and stuff like yeah, from like the you know, the
earlier centuries and stuff like that. You know.
Speaker 5 (20:22):
I think that depends, speaking of it depends depending. The

He's been He's been great for a really long time. Man.
Like I said, I was, I was there when he
got drafted, and that was a pretty crazy time because
I believe he came in it was either the same
time as Strasburg or Harper, or maybe the same exact
(23:26):
time as well. I think he's maybe a little older
than Harper, but I recall him coming in into the
city with another big, big name player from a different sport.
But Ovechkin has has delivered man like talk about a
guy who came in with a ton of hype, you know,
obviously the whole him and Sidney Crosby, you know conversation
(23:48):
has always been like the Wayne Gretzky Mary o Lemieux conversation.
But Ovechkin has I got my Like I said, I
got my career started off of covering him, and it
was it was pretty cool because we were the official station,
so I was always at the games. We were the
official station for the Caps and for the Nats, so
(24:09):
I was always at the games, and it was it
was just he's fun to watch, man. That's a fun
team too, And they've they've kept you know, some core
group guys in play for quite some time, like it's
for like over like a decade. So good for him. Congratulations.
Speaker 5 (24:25):
Can you imagine LeVar playing hockey.
Speaker 4 (24:27):
Though, see, it's crazy, you know it was big in Pittsburgh,
so a lot of our time was spent playing street hockey. Yeah,
and then we graduated to online or inline inline roller blading,
so we would roller blade hockey. Did you real games
like we go to, like basketball courts?
Speaker 1 (24:49):
You use those Coho Revolution sticks? Remember those the east
of the Mario mu tom Barrasso cohoed Revolution sticks. I
still have those things.
Speaker 4 (24:58):
I had a rich stick. I wasn't into the names,
the the brand names of hockey sticks. But what's interesting
is I'm I'm I'm ambidexterous. So I guess I was
forced to learn how to write wrighty. So I write
with my right hand, but I do a lot of
things with my left hand, and one I played hockey
(25:19):
with a left handed stick, and so it was pretty interesting. Man,
I'll put right in your mouth, right in your.
Speaker 5 (25:27):
Mouth, aggressive.
Speaker 4 (25:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (25:29):
You shuffle cards with your with your right.
Speaker 4 (25:33):
Hand, with my right hand, yeah, yeah, yeah, that is true. Yeah,
and I shoot pool with my left stick class with Yeah.
Well that's why they called me sticks.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
Can I ask you one quick question about d C
sports because I was talking to uh Olivia Garvey about this.
She covered d C sports for a while. She told
me that the Capitals are second to the Commanders and
that the Wizards are way down the list of what
people are interested in in the city. Is that true?
(26:12):
Like the Wizards, some people would argue that DC United,
the soccer team, is more popular than the Wizards. Nobody
cares about it.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
That's true. The Zarts are the Arts are a team.
I would say when they were the Bullets, which I
wasn't there when they were the Bullets, but the stories
I heard, like Wes on Sale walks around like, well,
I mean, you know, I think he's still around. I'm precious.
(26:41):
Let me make sure he's still around. I haven't been
around in a while. That's that's how long I've been gone.
I'm sure. Yeah, dang, you look it up. Wes unse Anyway,
he was the guy. Yeah he got up out of here.
Yeah I knew he got up at it. He was
(27:02):
the guy that was like the star like he was
almost like the Doug Williams of the basketball team. And
so he walked around and people were like, oh, there's
wes unselled da da d this that and the other.
So as the Wizards, you know, I came in the
same time. Michael Jordan came to the team, so popularity wise,
(27:23):
it was definitely the Skins back then, and then the
Tzards and we didn't even have a baseball team, right,
so so and the hockey team wasn't you know they
I believe they were still at US Arena. I could
be wrong, but I believe early two thousands they might
have still been in the US air but they weren't
(27:44):
popular at all, Like, people didn't talk about them at all.
So if you think about now where they're at, I
would say, I honestly would say the hysteria that has
surrounded the hockey team may have overtaken all pretty much
all the sports commanders. I think. So I think that
(28:07):
the kind of the disappointment.
Speaker 1 (28:09):
That Daniels arm falls off and all of a sudden
they're going hockey over football.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
Yeah, I think I think it's always been. Football is
popular in DC. And what's crazy is DC Maryland, Virginia
is actually there. It's basketball heavy, it's a basketball place,
but they love they love the football team. But I
think the baseball team and the hockey team definitely closed
(28:34):
the gap on on relevance of popularity and what you're
looking for. I mean, think about it each of them,
each of them have gotten a championship during this this
this time, this time frame, you know, except the football team,
right and the basketball team. So I don't know. I
(28:55):
look at it like the hockey team is clearly they
got the most swag in in DC, like they go out.
If you saw OV and jayde Daniels, there would be
no drop off on the excitement. In fact, there'll probably
be more excitement to see Ovechkin just because he has
like this character like type of vibe to him. Like
you see him, it's like, dang, like that's Ov right there.
(29:18):
You know, like when you're a grown person doing that,
you know you've like you've done some pretty special stuff
for people to kind of look at you and like
revere you that way like Ovechkin. Ovechkin has that aura
in DC. He's probably the most beloved, most popular athlete
in DC. For certain, I think he's number one.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
Yeah, he's a nine hundred goals man. Historical last night
for him.
Speaker 4 (29:43):
Man.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
Now we are going to have in case you missed it,
coming up here in about ten minutes from now, some
updates quarterback health wise, Kyler Murray is going to go
on IR so he's got his foot injury, Jonathan Ganna made.
Speaker 4 (29:56):
Is it a real foot injury or is it a
I got Ben's footed in the well? Like that's it?
Speaker 1 (30:00):
So he heard it. I think it was against the
Titans in that collapse against Tennessee earlier this year, and
nobody could really figure out what it was. And I
don't remember if it was like another turf toe or
somebody said it was kind of Liz Frankish. I just
I don't like there's been sort of kind of a
(30:21):
mystery about it. But Jonathan Gannon basically said, like, look,
he's a mobile quarterback, so it's going to affect him
a little bit more and it's going to take maybe
more time to come back. But so he's going on
ir so he's not going to be back early at
he'll be back as week fourteen. And I'm just looking
at the timelines, you know, like he may have played
his last snap in Arizona like that, like you know,
(30:43):
we may have seen the end of Kyler Murray already
in Arizona, And I just wonder if they do if
he is ready to come back.
Speaker 4 (30:50):
Yeah crazy, how quick stuff?
Speaker 1 (30:53):
If he's ready to come back, if you were Kyler
Murray and they're out of the playoffs. Are you risking
knowing that that you're probably going to be on the
outs after the year anyways, based on how they've handled this.
Speaker 4 (31:04):
Whole That's why I asked the foot injury.
Speaker 5 (31:07):
Yeah, so he's got a mid foot sprain which would
coincide with probably a Liz Frank sprain or injury, and
it's looking like he's seen multiple specialists for this, and
he's the recovery periods and were from four to eight weeks,
which it happened on October fifth, so he'd be about
it the full week mark now, and you can understand
(31:29):
why then they put him on IR because he probably
needs another four weeks, which we'll get into that eight
week number. So that's assume there's not a setback, which
is better.
Speaker 4 (31:38):
In the state. No over, I have to say that
he's getting he's he's actually getting the rest that he
needs versus he's losing his job because he can't play.
Speaker 5 (31:49):
Yeah. So I mean, look, I'm not a doctor. There
was a show called Doctor Quinn Medicine Woman, but I
have no affiliation of that Quinn. So the only expertise
I can give on this whole matter is probably saying
that I've had a list. Frank. My understanding of my
understanding of that injury is it's a ligament, right, it
(32:10):
goes across your mid foot, it connects your metatarsals, and
when you sprain it, we're really talking about like small tears, right,
there could be micro tears in that ligment, which, as
we know, ligments don't heal themselves, So I don't know
that it's going to get better. There's not really much
(32:31):
you can do if you don't surgically go back in
and reattach it. You know, my injury came with a
fracture as well because it was tore and it ripped
off some of the bone. So what happens in that
case is, you know, the bone will you know, heal itself,
that will recalcify and it kind of builds in scar
tissue to create stability. Right. The body is an amazing thing.
(32:54):
But I don't know that that's his specific injury or situation,
so I can't speak to that. What I do know
is that this time frame is probably about right for
him to get a sense of if he can eventually
go or not. But I would imagine at the end
of this four weeks, there might have to be a
decision made on surgery. And if that's the case, obviously
the season's over. And to your point about as he
(33:17):
played this last game in Arizona, probably it's most likely
trending towards that given a skill set, how he plays,
but also just the type of injury. Like if he
wants any future, whether it's in football at quarterback or
you know we talked about throughout even going back playing baseball,
if he wants any of that, he's probably gonna have
to get that thing fixed. Otherwise it's gonna nag him forever.
(33:39):
I've told you guys, like I was told initially back
in two thousand and nine, all you could cast it,
let it heal a stuff, and like it never felt
the same after that. I mean, it never was able.
It was always an issue, always a problem that I
was getting, you know, treatment for and different things for
the rest of my career. So until you get that surgery,
it's not really ever gonna feel stabilized and you're gonna
(34:02):
be dealing with issues.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
I just wonder, do you know, are we are we
overstating that Kyler Murray is done? Like That's what I
wonder Is it just that the injury is the injury,
get healthy from the injury, get back, and then you'll
see Kyler Murray play. Is it as simple as that
or is it as complex as this injury has served
(34:25):
noticed that actually there's there's a player on the roster
and Jacoby Brissett that they feel more comfortable with that
they can unlock more of their offense with because of
his style of play. And now this is the end
for Kyler Murray. Like, does there have to be a
conspiracy theory connected to a real injury? Is what I'm wonder?
(34:45):
Is it overstated?
Speaker 1 (34:46):
Well, when the coach says, yeah, I think it's pretty
safe to assume even if you were healthy, we're gonna
we would continue to go with Jacoby Brissett, Like I mean,
he said that's you know specifically about the and it's like,
all right, well, if that's the case, if I'm Kyler
Murray and I know that, I'll take my sweet ass
time getting ready knowing that if the coach has already
(35:06):
made that decision and has already spoken publicly about that,
it's it's run its course here and I'm just gonna
go somewhere else.
Speaker 4 (35:13):
It's possible. But what if Jacoby Brissette falls on his face?
You know, what if he what if he has one
good game, you know, a decent game here, and then
it's it's not so. I mean, it's it's a long season. Still.
I just don't know that you make that definitive of
a decision, even if you say it right now, if
(35:34):
if Kyler is healthy, we're going with Jacoby. I don't
know that it's all the way. Oh yeah, it's over.
Never mind, Yeah it's over. I guess if you've benched
your high draft pick for and sit that outright, I
don't know. That's to me. I don't know that that's
a good decision as a coach to make that declaration.
(35:54):
I don't because you don't have to. You don't have
to sit there and say, if Kyler Murray he was healthy,
we'd still be playing Jacobe Brissett. You don't have to.
You don't have to take that strong of a stance.
But since he did, I mean, maybe it does sound
like maybe that is what it is. Maybe you know
he's over Kyler Murray.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
Not great by the way.
Speaker 5 (36:13):
Also, C J.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
Stroud is going to miss Sunday's game versus Jags. He's
got a concussion, so old long neck, Davis Mills is
going to get the start.
Speaker 4 (36:23):
So so.
Speaker 1 (36:29):
Yeah, so so Davis will be back under center for
the Houston Texans. He did sign an extension, by the way,
in the offseason, so they like him there. So now
that he'll be basically a must win game for Houston
at this point because the way the season's gone. So
no CJ. Stroud based on the concussion, and now you
know the way we go with Davis Mills getting the
(36:50):
start in a big division matchup against the Jags. So
a couple of quarterback updates for you guys. Some spicy
news out of the quarterback position in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (36:59):
You know, is it spicy or just like a little spicy,
Because if it's a little spicy, well, you're gonna want
to go with some Louisiana hot. And if it's a
lot of spicy, you're gonna want to go with some
Louisiana He dig what I'm saying, So think about it right.
It's the original Louisiana hot sauce. It's the perfect balance
of peppery peppers and vinegar and salt. You could use
(37:22):
it on all the foods that you love to eat,
including Tailgate food. It's bold, it's hand crafted, the flavors amazing.
Check out the original Louisiana Hot sauce. That's Louisiana Hot.
Make sure you bay you soon.

Speaker 1 (38:39):
And for that we turned it over to our executive producer,
the one and only Ryan Berschinger. Yeah, dude, what's up guys?
Speaker 4 (38:45):
Good morning?
Speaker 9 (38:51):
All right, Well, as we know, the NFL trade deadline
was real wild this year. In fact, maybe a little
too wild for brand In Bean's liking the GM of
the Bills. Brandon Bean had some thoughts as to why
it was such an active deadline.
Speaker 10 (39:06):
And I think there's there's definitely a faction of you know,
the gms are coming in younger and there's more of
played true fantasy football and stuff like that, and they're
growing up in a world of trades.
Speaker 4 (39:20):
So oh wow, that was like, that was shade. That
was definitely shade. Yeah, it's a sha grenade, but it
was a shade grenade. But I mean he's not. He's
not incorrect. It mean people are more acclimator.
Speaker 5 (39:36):
It was different, it was. But can we acknowledge a
couple of things. Howie Roseman always makes deals. I'm pretty
sure he's older than Brandon Bean. I mean, we don't.
We never say that about Philly I mean John lynch Older.
We don't say that about the forty nine ers when
(39:56):
they're making deals of trying to figure stuff out. I
just I feel like it's convenient to say that when
in reality, you know, maybe there's some truth. But I
also think you're getting a new wave of general managers
who are more aggressive and they want to take an
active approach, like they're going forward on fourth down. As
a general manager, they're not the type that's gonna say
I'm gonna kick a field goal and that's okay, Like,
(40:18):
let those guys be be aggressive in this league. I
don't know that you get rewarded for choosing to punt
or choosing to go for the field goal. It feels
like you've got to be aggressive in order to make
something happen.
Speaker 4 (40:31):
I feel like in older times people had more of
a relationship with the players, like have more of a bond,
like they meant something. I don't know that it's like
that anymore. I think I think players are more disposable
than what they've ever been. I think that it's just
(40:51):
it's easier to get rid of a guy. There's not
as much sentimental connection to there's not as many superstars,
you know, and I wouldn't even say superstars, just developed
developed brands. I think that's just easier to get rid
of guys anymore.
Speaker 1 (41:08):
But is that Are you closer to coaches back in
the day or gms?
Speaker 4 (41:13):
It just the whole thing. I think everybody was closer
back then. I think that. I just think that it's
just different now, you know. And he might be right.
It might because some of these kids grew up on
Fantasy football and Madden. You know, he might be could
he be, could be onto something
