lead in to the Dan Patrick Show Monday through Friday.
So it's about three hours later for us here as
we get things started on FSR. And I just want
to look just friendly advice, just want to throw this
out there to you guys. Oh no, I mean we're
just renting this house, all right, so let's not you know,

(01:11):
let's not break anything.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
I've been told nothing. Parties like a rental, So uh'll
give it back in good shape.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
No, we're not. That's why they get that security deposit.
You're about to tear it is as uh. Oh, I
gotta be on my best fah. Literally, we're not dumped
the first second, buddy, we're going to uh set the
roof on fire. On fire. The roof is on fire.
We don't need no water, just let the roof burn. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
Can I pose this question before you kick things off
and start talking a little more sports, What did you
guys do with your extra hours of sleep this morning? Sleep?

Speaker 5 (01:47):
Yeah, it's that simple.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Yes, Okay, God, I feel so alert and awake. I
was just telling jodahs, I feel so happy, Like damn Patrick,
Holy moly, you got an amazing time slot.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Yeah, got to two hours extra sleep. And then I mean,
you know, me up and grinding right away, Yeah, working out, Yeah,
and just coming in yeah, I mean just doing whatever
you know with.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
That extra two hours but banging. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
I actually got to take my kids to school, which
was which was a first for me in a long time.
And let me tell you, definitely some observations for starters.
I cannot do my daughter's hair, like the only thing
I can do is a ponytail. And I can't begin
to tell you how disappointed they were with me today.
Like I cooked them breakfast. I do whatever you want,

(02:36):
but as far as it comes to like doing my
little girl's hair, no chance. So that was a fail.
And the other observation was those kids were so fired
up by the time they got in there.

Speaker 5 (02:47):
I had ac DC Thunderstruck playing.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
It was a straight rock the whole time, and I
was flying, weaving and out of cars to drop them
off in times.

Speaker 5 (02:55):
A little different start to their morning, that's for sure.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
So basically the Varsity Blues soundtrack, because.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
That was Yeah, that's pretty fair, but I don't know
if it was actually the soundtracked.

Speaker 5 (03:06):
They enjoy it more fun with daddy.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Why do kids have more fun with daddies? Man, I
don't get it.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
Man.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
You know, my kids get all pumped up when I
take them to school too, you know, hell yeah, yeah,
I get to take them to school. I get to
take them to school because you know, we're a little
bit of a different time zone. So yeah, yeah, I'm back.
I'm back in and we have pep talks. Like we
have pump up talks. You know, man man has LeVar.
This isn't our audience. Little LeVar. He works out at

(03:38):
six thirty now, so he's got before school training before
he gets into school. So when we're driving over there,
you know, you give them the talk. You know, don't
waste the moment, you know, make sure you look your
your your strength coaching eyes and say I want pain today.
Pain doesn't need to look for me. I'm looking for pain.

(03:59):
You understand, And child, you gotta know how to work. Yeah, yeah,
you got. Then you gotta look your teammates and the
ayes and you gotta look them in the eyes, and
you gotta say, we got to know how to work.
Let's get to work. I want to hear it. I
want to hear the grunts. I want to here the waits.
Oh yeah, I need to feel it clanging and clanging
and banging. That's you.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
And then and then you finish that off with and
then once you get to the professional level, you just
unfollow your team on Instagram and you should be fine.

Speaker 5 (04:28):
Oh why do you have to tread the segway? We
have to talk to Lee yet.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Listen because we know we know what Lee, Lee was
just getting ready for the show.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
Then you go, Then you.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Go jump on a podcast. You don't go jump on
ESPN or Fox or anything like that. You go jump
on a podcast and let them know how you feel it.
Oh yeah, you know what I mean? Lee, extra couple hours?
What'd you do with it? I slept? But you know,
there's a there's a science to this.

Speaker 6 (04:51):
We don't get as much sleep as most so it's
like you get into that rem sleep. It actually sometimes
gets you a little groggier, so you gotta be careful.

Speaker 5 (04:58):
So are you plenty about that?

Speaker 4 (05:00):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (05:01):
Yeah, you know me, man, before our show, I just
get a little nap in just enough, and then I
come in ready to go, and then I sleep after
the show. So right now I'm kind of in my
morning routine where I usually go home, I eat and
then go to sleep.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
What what you eat?

Speaker 4 (05:13):
And what?

Speaker 2 (05:14):
I didn't want to say that because this is I eat.
I to watch it? You got to watch?

Speaker 4 (05:21):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Okay, Well you gotta drown it down. I mean, you don't.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Nothing of bloody Mary won't fix That's true. Whatever you
got and my bloody marry time right now?

Speaker 4 (05:31):
All right? Hopefully your Thursday wasn't impacted by h paralle start.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Tang, realm tired. Huh wow, all right, it's true, a
little groggy there. You just put that back in the old.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
That is the first Oh yeah, this is uh Joe, Joe,
this is how.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
I feel it. Right now, Man, we already get one,
he said, no, no, so, but it definitely could have gone.
I could have hit it. I could have hit it
out of the park right now, I'm all my best behavior.
It was there. It was a slick one. You got it.
That was good.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
It was there. It was loved.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Please like darn like extra hours. I get that makes
me groggy. I mean it all fit hear. I mean
you could have dropped that puzzle piece right on in there.
Yeah all right.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
So with that being said, we transitioned smoothly over to
the situation that is the big topic of conversation in
the NFL, especially over the last next couple of weeks
as we try and figure out what the plan is
at the top for the Chicago Bears and the latest
development for Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears. And I

(06:48):
again can't even believe this is an actual storylined. All
this is that he unfollowed the Bears on Instagram, So
just devastating. You guys know, my thoughts on this different.
So I can't exactly say what I said yesterday. I'll
just put it this way. I blame guys that are
a little bit too aggressive and interested in women on

(07:09):
social media, who got a little bit too fired up
when they see they were out of a relationship and
turn their status to It's complicated. Now, everybody knows if
you want to get some attention, this is the move.
But according to Justin Fields, it's nothing more than he
just wants a little bit of time. He wants a
little bit of vacation time to go ahead and do
his thing. He was on the Saint Brown Brothers podcast

(07:31):
yesterday and had this to say about the situation.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
Why do people take social media so seriously?

Speaker 3 (07:36):
So?

Speaker 2 (07:37):
Why this and that?

Speaker 7 (07:39):
Like I still mess with the Bears that I'm just
trying to take a little break follows the Bears and
the NFL.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
Bro, I'm not just trying to have football.

Speaker 7 (07:45):
On my timeline. Like, I know y'all mess with a girl, EQ,
especially you, just because you don'na follow the girl along,
I G don't mean.

Speaker 5 (07:52):
You're not messing with him. I want to stay in Chicago's.

Speaker 7 (07:55):
Yeah, of course, of course I want to stay, to
be honest, but I'll be trying to Like with all
the talk, it's hard to I guess kind of just
boom be in one place, but I can't see myself
playing in another place.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
But I know how that league is.

Speaker 7 (08:09):
Like, if it was up to me, I would want
to stay in Chicago. I love the city, the city's.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
Lits, the fans are They're great.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
But it's a business.

Speaker 7 (08:17):
I ain't got no control over it, so whatever happens happens.

Speaker 4 (08:19):
But I feel like the.

Speaker 7 (08:20):
Biggest thing with all this going on right now, I
just want to be over, Like, just let me know
if I'm getting traded, let me know if I'm staying.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
So that was Justin Field's talking with and I'm in
ros Saint Brown on the third. Let me let me
jump on this real quick and you can have it
after because to me, you can't relate to this from
my perspective because I'm an ugly all right, an ugly dude.
Listen to what Justin Field just had to say and
said that you pretty mother lovers y'all, y'all just think

(08:51):
y'all can do whatever y'all want to do, and people
are going to be waiting on you and nobody's going
to have a problem with it. This is a pretty
dude what he did with his social media. I think
he's one hundred percent correct. Pretty dudes, well, let me unfollower,
like he used as an example, I on follower. But
that don't mean that we ain't still cool. I just

(09:11):
needed a break. I just didn't want you all over
my timeline. That's what pretty dudes do. See, Ugly dudes
were going to keep you on our timeline because we
want to keep seeing you, right, and we want you
to know that we see your posts and stuff like that,
and it's like, oh yeah, you hit the like button.
Boom boom boom, you hit the heart whatever. You know.
Some some uglies they even they comment, you know, they
say weird like creepy stuff like oh you look beautiful,

(09:34):
Oh are you having a great day? Or you know,
are you speaking for a personal experience? No, I just no, no,
I know.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
But your perspective.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
I'm just saying, this is my perspective because I'm friends
with uglies too. Like I don't like hanging out with
pretty dudes. I hang out with ugly dudes, because if
they're uglier than me, then I at least feel somewhat
less as ugly as them. So our approach is much
different than that of a pretty dude. This was a
pretty dude's approach. I don't think if you had anything
personal with the NFL. I think he's telling the truth

(10:03):
about not having something personal with the Chicago Bears. He
just wanted a break. He doesn't want to see everybody
asking where is Justin Field's going to go?

Speaker 4 (10:11):
What is he going to do?

Speaker 5 (10:13):
Can I ask this?

Speaker 4 (10:14):
Then? Because I am not a savant at social media
in anyway, can't just mute the Bears? Can't just put
them on mute. You don't have to unfollow them if don't.
If you put them on mute, you won't. They're not
gonna show up in your timeline, right.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
I'm not sure if there's a mute on Instagram. I
know mute for sure. I know you can stop people
from commenting on it, or you can do private.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
Commute posts, stories, notes, you can mute all that.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Yeah, well you don't have to see it. Might be
more of a savant than me. I just know for me,
on IG if I don't want to see your story
or see your posts. I unfollow you. Okay, I'll unfollow.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
I think the slyer way of doing it is just
again using the mute button, if that indeed was the case.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Here's the thing thing was to expose Brady Quinn on
being an Instagram social media guru. See I just I
just showed the Dan Patrick audience out there that Brady
Quinn is is a GUR rule. Well they know. I mean,
he's a regular on the DP.

Speaker 4 (11:18):
Yeah, big, big, big, big Instagram back on social media.
Here's here's the first thing I'd say is like Justin Fields,
I selfish, I want this to be over for all
of us. Like we've talked about this already at nauseum
because when the Bears didn't make the playoffs and the
Bears were solidified in the number one slot, this conversation,

(11:41):
this talking point came up and we knew kind of
coming into the season it needed to be a big
season for Justin Fields, which I thought he played well
enough where you could warrant him being the guy, and
he should, in my opinion, be the guy.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
Trade out of the spot.

Speaker 4 (11:58):
Go accumulate more picks, more players to help build out
around him.

Speaker 5 (12:01):
That's how I feel.

Speaker 4 (12:02):
But that's a simple way of looking at it, because
it doesn't factor in that he's played long enough now
where you have to start thinking about that contract extension
and it's gonna be more expensive sooner to keep justin
fields than it would be to draft a quarterback in
number one overall, take your pick whoever it is, so
I understand the economics to it, but selfishly for him,

(12:25):
for us, for everyone out there, like, I hope whatever happens,
they decide soon and that way we can just get
off this topic and narrative. And whether it's Atlanta, whether
it's Pittsburgh, whether it's whatever, the other team out there
would be looking for his services. If he's gonna get traded,
I hope it happens sooner than later, just for him too,
for the next step of his career, getting with that

(12:48):
new organization.

Speaker 5 (12:49):
But I don't know.

Speaker 4 (12:51):
I like the whole social media thing. I know, like
players like I don't give it to everyone blows out
of proportion. Well, the reality is that's what like a
lot of guys are being told to do by their agents.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
It's the first line of Ye, that's just it is
a negotiation. Let's be clear here, like we can. I
could poke fun at it and say the uglies and
the pretties and all that stuff, but it is a negotiation.
I mean that is the first tactic. Like you see, okay,
he's unfollowed us. What does that mean? That means until
we get to a certain it's either I want out

(13:24):
or you guys need to decide if you want me here.
That's that's the first It's the first shot fired, is
what it is. I mean, let's just be clear on that.
And I'm with you on on them figuring it out,
figuring it out quickly, because again, once once you get
off into free agency, it's like a frenzy. People aren't like,

(13:44):
oh yeah, we're gonna wait and see if we can
get a guy that comes out later or comes comes
available later because the other team didn't want We're not
waiting on justin fields. They're gonna go fill that spot
with someone else. So the longer you take and these
types of situations, the harder it's going to be. It's
a more strenuous situation for the player because the money

(14:07):
is gone. It's gone, You've you've given it out, you've
you've signed your guys who you want in free agency,
and it's it becomes more difficult the further you get
down into the bag of free agency. So I hope
they do make a decision soon as well.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
I mean, listen, if he wants to just go ahead
and delete the app all together, I'll help him out here.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
Here's where this is going to go. Like it's over.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
He's going to get traded and Caleb Williams is going
to be the starting quarterback in Chicago next year. And
that's been the story for weeks and weeks and weeks.
And if he's looking for somebody to blame, if he
does want to follow along and go back on social media,
just follow the Carolina Panthers who rolled out a bag
of crap last year and enabled the Chicago Bears to

(14:51):
pick number one. Overall, that's why this is happening. And
you don't need to go on ig for all that.
You can just go on the iHeartRadio app and listen
to this show.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
That's very nice.

Speaker 5 (14:59):
That's by way, that is coming from a lifelong Bears fan.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
Oh come on, that is listen That a reckless allegation
them great, by the way.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
In western part of the state, in Knox County, Yeah,
county near Gailsburg. Those that are that are interested where
the miniseris tower and what are you laughing at, Joel?
You know that's a real place. But we're not spinning
yarns here on this show. Gaylsburg and Mom and that's
a real place. Joel problem is jewels from the big city.
Like he's a He's a Detroit guy through and through,

(15:32):
so he doesn't he didn't know what that small time
we was.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
Talking about, you know, Michigan Life pre show. Yeah, we
had a good time. He got a national title, but
it was out of ann Arbor. It wasn't out of
East Lansing. It wasn't out of Detroit, you know what
I mean? Maybe one day though, Yeah, maybe one day Joel,
you know what I mean? Maybe yeah, Okay, Yeah, he's
just a little comments find the scenes.

Speaker 4 (15:56):
I would say, like this is this is an opportunity
for him. I think whatever ends up happening, either you
have the complete backing of the organization if they don't
trade you, and if they do, obviously it's an opportunity
for a new start. And I'll say this much if
it ends up being the Atlanta Falcons, I love that

(16:17):
fit for him. I love the opportunity he's gonna have
there with the talent that they have as well as
the defense came around last season, Like that could be
a very competitive team right away with his skill set.
It's close to home for him. That could be like
a great second act for him personally. If that's going
to be the case.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see how this
plays out. Atlanta, by the way, is the favorite right
now according to several odds makers, to land justin Field.
So there's whole that whole side of the story out there.
It is did Dan Patrick show here on Fox Sports Trading?
I almost said two pros.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
And a couple of Joe Yeah.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
Filling in here it is LeVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas
Knox with you in for Dan Patrick and the guys.
So we are going to have some fun stuff coming
up later on here on the show. We're going to
bring in some help from some things we do on
our show every single weekday morning. We've got something we
do called in case you missed it. We've also got
would you rather our two of the program. We're going

(17:16):
to close up shop with you in and you out
we'll explain how all of those work as we get
closer to each of those here, as we take you
all the way up until New Eastern time nine am Pacific.
But there is already a change, a major change in
the world of football, potentially happening sooner.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
Rather than later. We'll tell you what that is. That's next.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 8 (17:46):
Hey, we're Cavino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day
five to seven pm Eastern.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
But here's the thing.

Speaker 8 (17:52):
We never have enough time to get to everything we
want to get to.

Speaker 9 (17:55):
And that's why we have a brand new podcast called
over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun in
our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for. Yeah, you blubber list me.

Speaker 8 (18:09):
Well, you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.

Speaker 9 (18:14):
Well, it's a Covino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but We're also gonna talk
life and relationships, and if Rich and I are arguing
about something or we didn't have enough time, it will
continue on our after show called over Promised.

Speaker 8 (18:27):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make
sure you check out over Promised and also Uncensored by
the way, so maybe we'll go at it even a
little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast
of all time.

Speaker 9 (18:38):
There you go, over Promising. Remember you could see it
on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen Over Promised with
Coavino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or
wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 10 (18:50):
Hey, hey, hey, my man, h huh the feeling and
mean right now?

Speaker 2 (19:06):
Come on, hey, that's Brady Quinn.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
It is a Dan Patrick show here on Fox Sports Radio,
LaVar ericson Jones Shoxidy.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
Jus you go on three thousand like that, dame, Good
job bro.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
Coming up in about twenty minutes from now from the
ti raq dot com studios, we are going to tell
you about a very expensive play in the Super Bowl,
really expensive, probably more expensive than some people realize. That'll
be yours here again twenty minutes from now on FSR
here on the Dan Patrick Show. So, I mean, we

(19:42):
thought we had something in place, you know, we thought
we had ourselves a little twelve team college football playoff,
and then all of a sudden, Pete Thambill of ESPN,
he comes out and says that, well, listen, apparently there's
been some discussions about there being a fourteen team college
a playoff. It wouldn't take place this upcoming season or

(20:03):
the season after, but potentially twenty twenty six could be
a possibility that this that this goes down.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
So we went from four.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
Teams to twelve teams to according to Pete Thamill, potentially
up to fourteen teams. And it feels like we're just
starting to enter into territory where it's it's gonna it's
gonna feel like a long time ago to where people
were debating who should be the four spot and who
should be the five?

Speaker 2 (20:27):
Who feels left out here? Yeah?

Speaker 8 (20:29):
Is that?

Speaker 2 (20:29):
Is that the conversation point that's connected to that.

Speaker 5 (20:32):
I was gonna say, why stop at fourteen?

Speaker 4 (20:33):
Just make it sixteen? Right? Like, do we really feel
like there's teams that need buys? Like with a fourteen
team playoff, that's how you know, we'd assume it would work.
And the odd thing is is outside of like the
playing games and the NCAA tournament, do we have in
college sports another area where we look at there's there's
buys going into a tournament format. I mean, you might

(20:55):
as well make it sixteen at.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
That point, right, Yeah, I just wonder where does it end.
I just felt like, you add another game, not a bye.
You act you're who's feeling left out? Like what what
money commodity? What company that has been a part of
the Bowl season? Who feels left out? Because somebody's got

(21:16):
to take a bath on this, right? I mean, if
you really think about it, the Bowl season has taken
a dip based off of the playoff series. It's like
the only games that really kind of truly matter. There's
a few matchups that that come across that you're like,
I will watch, But you.

Speaker 4 (21:34):
Put a Florida State fans, they didn't feel like the
Bowl I'll just.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
Say definitely did not. They did Georgia Georgia, Georgia State
playing there, But was that Missouri? They played one of
the one of the worst football games.

Speaker 3 (21:51):
I've ever seen in my life, and misthought it mattered
It had nothing to do with the fact that I
bet on Ohio State US thought it mattered.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
Somebody feels left out, that's that's to me. That's why
there has to be the discussion point and how much
money is left out because at the end of the day,
it is the bottom line. And so if you're adding
two more teams to to add another game, who does that?
Like what's the naming rights? Like do we know yet
what the naming rights are going to be on on

(22:21):
each one of these games that's played, because they're going
to play on on their sites, right, Like I think
once you get later it's going to be neutral, but
early on it's like the top seed, right, they get
to play at home. Right. Yeah, So you have all
of these these these colleges like are hustling to fix
fix their stadiums and and build hotels and stuff like

(22:43):
that because the infusion of the opportunity of infusion of funds, they're.

Speaker 5 (22:49):
Assuming that they yeah, they're assuming.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
Yeah, I mean you're assuming.

Speaker 4 (22:54):
You're gonna be there for a first round game, right
or host one?

Speaker 8 (22:57):
Right?

Speaker 2 (22:57):
Yeah, I mean, but you gotta be you gotta be
prepared for that, right, I mean, if you think about.

Speaker 4 (23:02):
Some schools that like they could say that, like, oh guys,
let's build up more hotels and everything else, Like well,
wait a second, we went we went four to eight
last year.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
Well, like, we're not.

Speaker 4 (23:10):
Making it into the playoff anytime soon. With you there
put some more money in nil, Man.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
You're going to have to figure out what what uh
what side of that coin you're on if you're going
to be prepared. Because here's the thing I started thinking
about this for for State College. If State College, if
we were to make the playoffs and have and host
a home game, how the hell would that work?

Speaker 5 (23:33):
How would that work? The other if you like any
other big home game you have during the season.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
How though, because if if it's a new if it's
considered to be a home game, is it just it's
just treated like a regular home game. What about it's
a playoff game? So shouldn't the away team get more tickets,
more opportunities to you mean crowdsplit?

Speaker 4 (23:53):
Right?

Speaker 5 (23:54):
F that does exist?

Speaker 2 (23:56):
I want a true home game. If it's a true
home game, I can see that.

Speaker 4 (24:00):
But if you know, you guys probably have some I mean, look,
I was there this past year for the Michigan game. Yeah,
there are some sections I'm telling you, I hate, I hate.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
No, no, what they took over a couple of spots.

Speaker 5 (24:12):
Yeah, they're a little yellow. And I was like, man,
it doesn't look like it looked a little yellow. It
was it was it was the stripe stripe out right.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
It didn't look like they messed up the stripe out.

Speaker 5 (24:21):
Yeah, they messed it up too much.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
Mason there, Yeah they did. But I guess what I'm
saying is when you talk about when it was hard
for me to move on from it real quickly, I
tried to hurt in my heart and Joel's back there
smiling like, yeah, Michigan, baby, Michigan.

Speaker 5 (24:40):
Hey, you got to watch the pet Steak game.

Speaker 4 (24:43):
It's the best.

Speaker 5 (24:45):
I think, am I bad luck? I don't know, Like
every time we've been there together, we lose.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
Yeah, here's the problem.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
LeVar deserves some blame in this because and let me
let me tell you why you have embraced the tailgating
cold here to a point half you you are more
excited about the tailgate than inside the states are like, well,
nobody's going to sit here. I guess she's I mean,

(25:11):
why not?

Speaker 4 (25:13):
Can we relive Week one of the college football season
last year, LeVar take us. Who is the matchup for
Penn State? Who are they taking it was?

Speaker 2 (25:21):
It was it West Virginia.

Speaker 5 (25:23):
No, it was with the Week two whatever. It was
with there taking on Delaware.

Speaker 2 (25:26):
Oh yeah, when they played against my son. Yeah, yeah,
I don't, I don't, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (25:32):
Just take me through your activities of that day.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
I did a tailgate at the Spike Shots out to
the Spikes. The Spikes, that's our minor league baseball team
that's there. It's right across the street from the main entrance.

Speaker 4 (25:44):
I did.

Speaker 2 (25:44):
I do my tailgate there. I drink a lot of
tequila and grapefruit juice. That's where I switch off from
Long Islands, LeVar Islands to grapefruit juice and tequila. We
went to the first half of the game right, made
it through the I was on the sideline for the
first half. Towards the end of the second quarter, I

(26:07):
left to go into the tunnel and and and stopped
by the little they put a little vip bar lounge
in the little area where you can watch the players
walk by. Stopped there, got me a blue moon maybe
two one for the road. Then we walked and went
to the to the suites and said hello to the
people in the suites, went saw the president of the university, probably.

Speaker 4 (26:30):
Went back to tailgate.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
Hell yeah, yeah, hell yeah.

Speaker 3 (26:33):
So it's like you can't really blame them for not
you know, completing the white out or the stripe.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
And it gets because there's too many guys like us
that wanted to leave and go tailgate outside, and and
and you know, and not we won that game. We
blew them out. So it was a happy, happy, action
fun time and and the you know tailgating areas. Now,
did you skip the orange in the blue moon or
and just go straight blue mood? Yeah, I'll drink it
out of the can. It was in a can. Yeah, see,

(26:58):
you were already it was ice cold. Yeah, oh yeah.
I mean I had already had about a couple you know,
I know, this is family show, so I won't talk
about having bad habits and into the you young ones
out there. Uh, you know, it's just be responsible or
just stay away. Just say no, you know, just say no. Yeah,
all right, But for me, I wasn't saying no, and

(27:18):
and I was mixing cramp grape fruit juice. Grape Fruit
juice is my weapon of choice outside of LeVar Islands.
You know, yeah, with some casame egos. You know that's
my move, And you're right, I go right up into that.

Speaker 7 (27:32):
That.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
Uh So, I tailgate in a suite at the Spike Stadium.
That's what makes it fun because we got a whole
bunch of TVs in.

Speaker 5 (27:40):
The suite and food there.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
But which is which is the Well, the stadium's empty.
It's empty, So it's not like I'm like, it's like
it's like high society type stuff. It's like I just
thought of something that other people didn't think about.

Speaker 4 (27:51):
Well, it's not low society. But yes, that's true. Dang,
I mean it's it's definitely high society society.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
Damn.

Speaker 2 (27:59):
I mean I take my shoes off, you know what.
Oh yeah, I have have my shoes shoes off at
a tailgate always he always takes his shoes off. Always
shoes off, baby, at a tailgate, shoes off. I'm in
a suite. He would go shoes off at the Idea Rod.
I wouldn't care. That is very true. That's very true.
Not with no socks.

Speaker 4 (28:19):
Yeah, I don't know about that. That needs to be
like a Twitter poll question, like where is it? Is
it okay to take your shoes off at a tailgate.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
I take them off. You don't take them off in
the airplane, do you? Yes?

Speaker 8 (28:30):
I do?

Speaker 4 (28:30):
Oh no, you don't, Yes, I do.

Speaker 5 (28:32):
On man off.

Speaker 4 (28:33):
My fat's a big of a no nose as it
gets my feet.

Speaker 2 (28:36):
Do not stink.

Speaker 4 (28:37):
It doesn't matter if they stink or not.

Speaker 2 (28:39):
They don't stink.

Speaker 5 (28:39):
Don't want to see your feet down there, not knowing
there might be a few.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
Keep your eyes up down there, Eyes up, soldier. A
guy walks in with his pants off.

Speaker 5 (28:49):
Why are you looking so?

Speaker 2 (28:50):
Yeah, I'm to blame for this.

Speaker 5 (28:52):
Eyes up?

Speaker 2 (28:53):
Yeah, no fly no, no flies on private pile, Yes, sir.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
Keep your hands.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
Bump your head. It's a jelly donut.

Speaker 11 (29:06):
Hey.

Speaker 2 (29:06):
But seriously, do you think that some of these places
that if they make the playoffs will have enough to
host a playoff game? Yes?

Speaker 4 (29:16):
Because I mean, if I'm being real, I think a
lot of the places are going to be hosting playoff games.
There are teams that are already top of the college
football world, which already have big which I already have.
I mean, think about it. I mean, Penn State over
one hundred thousand, Ohio State over one hundred thousand Michigan
over one hundred thousand.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
You know how much of a headache it is to
deal with state college on a Michigan or Ohio state weekend.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
It is.

Speaker 4 (29:41):
It is horribly hard.

Speaker 5 (29:43):
You got to start booking now, like it might be
too late for next season.

Speaker 4 (29:47):
Yeah, like if you don't have your itinerary at hotel
and all that stuff together, it might be too late.
I think the more interesting thing that I'm curious to
see the impact is the weather at that time of
the year. When you look at the college football calendar,
you really don't get bad weather games or like too
many games that are that highly impacted by cold win

(30:10):
and that's sort of those sort of conditions. You're going
to get that when you talk about a playoff and
hosting it in the month of December, like there's just
there's no way of avoiding that for that first round.
And so the fuel conditions, the actual weather conditions, how
the teams handle that, Like what happens, for example.

Speaker 5 (30:27):
If you get dumped on with a bunch of snow
up in South.

Speaker 4 (30:31):
Bend, Indiana. Yeah, you know you have to push the
game another week.

Speaker 5 (30:34):
Like how do they handle all those logistical issues?

Speaker 4 (30:37):
Uh? Mind. Do you still have to be around that's
that's finals for exams, everything else with a student calendar.

Speaker 5 (30:42):
So I'm more curious to see how that works out.

Speaker 4 (30:45):
I don't think these these college towns will have any
issue whatsoever handling the influx of people.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
And you know, Nick Saban says, stop calling them student athletes.
By the way, you know that came from Nick coach
Nick's you know, Nick is.

Speaker 4 (31:00):
Is the legend. He's the greatest of all time. But
I would still like to think there's an educational component.

Speaker 5 (31:07):
Called me a naive, proud, call me old school.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
That's that pretty dude stuff, man, ugly.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
Ball.

Speaker 5 (31:14):
These kids still give me something with their degree.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
At some point. The uglies we like that. Seaball get ball. Yeah,
you know what I mean. The pretty dudes is like, yeah,
I got.

Speaker 4 (31:24):
To go to class.

Speaker 2 (31:25):
Also, you know, the people that are complaining see some
other people that are class too. Yeah, that's very true,
and y'all get the attention. Bang bang there you go.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
The people that are the people that are also complaining
that we've gone from four to twelve and now to fourteen.
And you know, well, there's not that many good there's
not that many good teams in college football that it's like,
then don't watch, or then don't be a part of it.
Don't don't watch a wide out game in a college
football playoff game and setting an atmosphere next year.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
If you don't want to be a part of it,
don't be a part of it. Don't watch.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
It's gonna be awesome. And I was again them expanding it.
I thought, make it six teams, you want to give
two bye weeks and then go that route.

Speaker 2 (32:05):
But the fact that we're hearing we're.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
At twelve, whatever they decide on fourteen, I can't wait
to see a playoff.

Speaker 11 (32:10):
Man.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
I think it's gonna be phenomenal.

Speaker 4 (32:12):
I want to know why fourteen? Like why do you
just got to sixteen? And then everyone's got to play
in the first round? Which why?

Speaker 2 (32:19):
Yeah? Why not?

Speaker 4 (32:20):
Like who's the guy that was like, you know what, twelve,
that's not enough, Sixteen's too many.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
Let's just settle on right there right in the middle. Yeah,
that's that's an interesting one.

Speaker 5 (32:29):
It's like, why did that make sense?

Speaker 2 (32:31):
Let me ask you guys this, do you think that
the championship now with having a real playoff, could actually
compete get as big as the super Bowl. No, no,
you don't think so, now, huh, because it's it's not
enough teams. It's not a real playoff. It's like it's

(32:53):
almost like it's not a real playoff. Fourteen. Yeah, it's
not real. Jul you're a Michigan fan. You got bigger issues.
How many games you will ya will win?

Speaker 5 (33:03):
Have you looked at your schedule, Joel?

Speaker 4 (33:05):
I mean I was just going through. That is a
beast of a schedule.

Speaker 2 (33:07):
Next year we won three major games with an assistant coach.

Speaker 4 (33:12):
Where's your head coach? Now?

Speaker 3 (33:13):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (33:14):
Hello, oh gosh, oh here it is Joel Joey. I'll
be humbling twenty twenty four.

Speaker 2 (33:21):
I hope we can have this show at this day
next year. Listen so that we can look at Joel
through the window and say, Joel, if you want Joel
to be humble, just let him know. The Tigers are
starting in about a month.

Speaker 4 (33:32):
Oh there you go, there you go? Okay, Well the
Pistons are doing well, aren't they?

Speaker 2 (33:39):
Double Let me get in on this lion got the
Lions finessed out strong too?

Speaker 5 (33:47):
What's up?

Speaker 4 (33:48):
Joel?

Speaker 2 (33:51):
We stop right there?

Speaker 4 (33:52):
Yeah, Joel's like, I'm so glad you guys are on
for one day. That's it.

Speaker 2 (33:57):
Don't Detroit lines.

Speaker 4 (33:59):
That is enough?

Guys.

Speaker 6 (36:49):
In case you missed this, Sorry we uh talk about.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
Thank you, LeVar, You're welcome, guys.

Speaker 6 (36:59):
In case you missed this story we haven't talked about
since right after the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
The streaker Heyle, if you could call him a streaker.
He was only half streaking at the Super Bowl, Hey, Brady,
was just pushing through it got.

Speaker 4 (37:12):
Twenty three year.

Speaker 6 (37:12):
Old Alex Gonzalez hailing from Miami. He has now been
officially fined forty two thousand dollars across the field. Not
to mention he spent forty two thousand dollars for the
two tickets we get close enough to two said streaking.

Speaker 4 (37:26):
It was worth it. Dude.

Speaker 5 (37:28):
By the way, he wasn't streaking.

Speaker 3 (37:29):
I know.

Speaker 5 (37:30):
We stopped using that phrase. He was shirtless, so what
is that called? And not streaking?

Speaker 4 (37:35):
He just was I don't know.

Speaker 3 (37:38):
And also also he placed money on this, like he
bet the prop that he was gonna that somebody was
going to go streaking, So this is like insider dating.

Speaker 2 (37:46):
Yeah, and if I were, then might throw the book
at him.

Speaker 5 (37:49):
I mean, way, he doesn't win that bet, then does he?

Speaker 2 (37:51):
I mean, it's a bet as a bet. If he
was willing to risk at all to do that, I mean,
he made it happen. We find out how much the
guy won on the bed.

Speaker 6 (37:59):
So I did a deep There was a lot of
reports that he had placed that supposedly he wasn't able
to get the bet in before the game. They had
taken that bet down the day of the game. He
went in with the intention of doing that and then
at the last second decided to follow through even though
he couldn't get the bet in.

Speaker 2 (38:14):
So conflicting reports there. That really is idiotic.

Speaker 3 (38:18):
I don't think forty two grand is enough, to be
honest with you, I'm sorry, Like I just it's not enough.
He's a moron, and I'm glad they didn't let the
bet go through. So now he's out forty two thousand dollars.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
Hey, good for him. I hate is real. I would listen.

Speaker 3 (38:34):
If you're gonna do it, be a streaker, go all
the way, not this half assed well I had my
shirt off.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
What do you call it, Brady, porky pigging it? Like
you know, at least if you could have done that.

Speaker 4 (38:44):
That it's the opposite of porky p I'm silky pigging.
It was when you're naked from the waist down, but
you sall have a T shirt on.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
Wouldn't you have more respect for him if he had
done that than what he did?

Speaker 7 (38:53):
Do?

Speaker 5 (38:55):
I mean, it would be way better porky pigot it
left the socks off like that?

Speaker 4 (38:58):
Would that's.

Speaker 5 (39:01):
That would be the look all rightly?

Speaker 2 (39:02):
Did they have to be white tube socks?

Speaker 4 (39:04):
Yes, not even white tube socks. They could be footies,
but they have to be white sox this show. Dang,
I'm just saying that that'd be the look. That's that's
the ultimate, like peak streaker look as as you're running
around the field fair enough, like that guy's got a
T shirt on, but it's naked from the waist down.

Speaker 2 (39:20):
There's cold floors in the Quinn estate. Yeah, yeah, I live.

Speaker 4 (39:26):
In much warmer climates, so actually we're actually pretty good.

Speaker 2 (39:29):
They need to check out Old School if they need
a proper lesson on streaking and streaking through the quad
and you know, streaking on public roads.

Speaker 3 (39:39):
Or you could just check somebody's backyard camera and see
if Todd Marinovich walk.

Speaker 5 (39:42):
Through forty two thousand dollars for that.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (39:46):
Crazy, I mean, they're just trying to hammer this guy.

Speaker 2 (39:48):
Huh. Yeah, it's too bad.

Speaker 6 (39:50):
Too bad that price you pay for being a moron.
What else we got, guys, In case you missed it.
Johnny Manziel was just on with Shannon Sharp on Club Sha.
Shade talked about it a number of subjects, including his
time at Texas A and M, and his father asked
and coach someone for a little cash advance in order
to stay for an extra two year.

Speaker 4 (40:07):
Email.

Speaker 11 (40:07):
You take a list, you said your dad went to
Kevin something. Yep, it says for three million dollars, we're
staying for two. Now you do realize this is prior
to nil. This old this is a backroom deal went.

Speaker 12 (40:20):
On for thirty forty years before the same way that
was happening when you was getting recruited back in the.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
Day, and you got it.

Speaker 11 (40:26):
You know, y'all text A and them got money for
I mean, text ain't nobody got no money like Texta
A and Neil.

Speaker 2 (40:30):
Y'all got the big dogs. You ring baby, y'all got
the big dogs.

Speaker 11 (40:35):
And so three million dollars if he had gone to
any of the boosters and say, you know what, Johnny,
dad said, he'll stay for an additional two years if
we just break him off three mail.

Speaker 2 (40:46):
Just keep it, start it somewhere.

Speaker 4 (40:48):
We'll get it later.

Speaker 12 (40:48):
We don't need it right now. But from my security,
if something happens for two years down the road and
my dad did this without me knowing, I ain't mad
at them about it.

Speaker 2 (40:57):
Nothing.

Speaker 4 (40:57):
That's the way the business worked back then.

Speaker 2 (40:59):
There was a bag man.

Speaker 12 (41:00):
There was a bagman at LSU, there was a bagman
at Bama.

Speaker 2 (41:04):
There was a bagman at every school around the country.
If you were competing for a national title.

Speaker 4 (41:09):
That's what it was.

Speaker 12 (41:10):
And it was always that way until we're into the
nil portion of everything.

Speaker 2 (41:14):
Now, I'm outraged. I always thought recruiting was on the
up and up.

Speaker 5 (41:17):
This is I'm more outraged by them saying they were
a competer for national title.

Speaker 4 (41:24):
I get it, I get it. All we all were
a sub point. But I was like, all right, I
mean he was a phenomenal player, and I think, look,
that's they're probably short sighting what he was really worth
to Texas A and M.

Speaker 2 (41:35):
Oh god, everybody got made money off Manziel, Texas A
and M.

Speaker 4 (41:39):
He was one of the most you know, poll rising
electric players that was there. But the reality is, like.

Speaker 5 (41:47):
You know, he should they should have asked for more money,
if we're being honest about it.

Speaker 2 (41:51):
Yeah, I mean, was Shanna Sharp recruited like that coming
