with you here on fs are. You can hang out

You can find us on hundreds of a phil It's
all across the country and wherever the hell, you are
making us a part of your Wednesday morning. We appreciate
(01:04):
you doing so, and we will take you all the
way up until nine am Eastern time, six o'clock Pacific.
How the hell were feeling here on a Wednesday morning? Boy? Hammers?
What straight out the gate? Hammers made it impact? Uh?
Gotta walk through life with hammers. You're either the nail
(01:27):
or the hammer. It's a good point. That is a
good point, different direction. I'm glad you guys know me well.
So yeah it is. Uh the toolboxes out here and
got to walk through live being impactful. Yes. Uh. Speaking
(01:48):
of speaking of which, blew some sad news in the
world of sports last night. Came out that Vince Scully,
the great Vince Scully, longtime voice of the Dodgers, credentials,
Uh that reached as far as World Series and and
big time NFL games and all of that, passing away
(02:09):
at the age of ninety four. Truly one of the
all time legends. Growing up in southern California, Look, I'm
a Harry Carey guy through and through. I love Harry Carey. Uh.
Growing up a Cub fan raises a Cub fan by
my dad, I grew up in Illinois, but we grew
up out here in southern California, and the first baseball
voice other than Skip Carry because he was on TBS
(02:33):
and it was a superstation you got to see other games,
was Vince Scully. And I didn't realize until I got
older just how far his reach was when it comes
to the impact he had on so many other people
around the country. And so to see the the outpouring
of love and respect and appreciation formed by everybody, not
only in sports but beyond, I think just goes to
(02:54):
show you what a hell of a ride and what
a hell of a run he had as a broadcaster
and as a man. Yeah, you know, I didn't know
much about Vince Scully growing up in the Midwest until
I started, you know, calling uh football games. And once
I started working with Joe Davis and and he ended
up taking over that job to replace Vince Scully, I
(03:14):
started to learn more about the impact and just the
legend that that he was. And you know, I started
to realize the shoes that that Joe would be filling
and taking over as the voice of the Dodgers. And
it was one of those things where you're going, it's
it's it's almost impossible to ever replicate, replace, um, you know,
fill in that void left behind by someone who had
(03:35):
done it for so long, what sixties seven years as
the voice of the Dodgers and so many obviously other
as you talked about big games, things that he had,
he had accomplished and and done during the course of
his career and just had his own stamp on his
style and the way in which he did it. So
it was something that you know, again was foreign to
me until probably I started even get into broadcasting. But
(03:55):
but once you started to learn about just how incredible
he was at his job, what he did for such
a long period of time, the utmost respect so incredibly
saddened by it. But uh, you know, unfortunately it's uh,
it's it's one where you look at the Dodgers organization
and you know, he was lucky to have them. They're
they were lucky to have him as the voice of
(04:17):
the Dodgers for such a long period of time. Yeah, respect,
you know, respect do I've learned how big the Dodgers
are as a nationwide brand, um growing up, but I
didn't realize how big Dodgers culture is until I lived
(04:37):
in l A And I mean, it is big and
and he is you know, a pioneer, a large part
of why you know, why it took. So you know,
I guess a life of of of what it became.
So yeah, you know, I know a lot of you know,
Dodger fans. You know, yesterday with you know, being at
(05:00):
at practice yesterday, there were a lot of people talking
about it, so you know it was you just hope
that you leave a legacy behind. You know, we just
lost Bill Russell obviously. You know, um, I can't can't
remember her name, but but the woman from from Star
trek Um just passed away as well. So you know,
(05:21):
you you hope that you live a life that was
impactful enough where you know, this might sound crazy, but
I mean as as we get older, you you hope
that you live a life where people you know care
that that you left here. You know, and and that's
you know, that's ultimately the sign of how you lived
your life. You know, if nobody cares that you left here,
(05:44):
and it comes and it goes and and and life
continues on um without there being a pause of some
sort to to take respects um. You know, that's that's
to me, that's a shame when when when that happens. So,
you know, he did, and he did what he needed
to do for a very long time. A lot of
people say the sign of greatness is being able to
(06:06):
do it at a high level for an extended amount
of time. He did it at a high level for
an extended amount of time. So respect, respect to shots
out to him, thoughts and prayers to his family as well.
You know, Brady, you mentioned Joe Davis, and that was
one of the first things I thought when it was
announced that he was taking over for Joe Buck. Joe
(06:26):
Buck is great. I mean, he's like a lot of
people don't like him. They you know, you know, he's
route against my team all that. I've always been a
fan of Joe Buck. I think he's always done a
fantastic job. But there was the conversation, man, that's big
shoes to fill Joe Davis filling for Joe Buck. Dude,
he replaced Vin Scully, all right, it doesn't get any
bigger than that. So I think I think he's up
to the task to replacing Joe Buck after the run
(06:50):
that he's had replacing Vince Scully. But it is it
is interesting because you hear the term soundtrack to your
childhood where they're broadcasters. You guys grew up in the
Midwest night LaVar, whether it's Myron Cope or Mike Laying
of the Penguins, to where when you hear their voice,
it kind of takes you back to growing up as
a fan. And I think for a lot of people
out here in southern California, Vince Scully is that guy
(07:12):
to where you I can remember you hear back and
I just think where I was when I would be
listening to it in the car on the radio, him
doing a commercial whatever it was, driving around with my mom.
That was that was sort of the soundtrack for a
lot of people's youth at there. Who were the guys
that you guys grew up with it you go. Now,
when I hear that voice, it reminds me of growing
(07:32):
up a sports fan in the Midwest. I mean, Keith
Jackson was the one that at least around football is
always hit home for me. Oh Nelly, I mean that
was that whole just his his cadence, the way he
called games, the big games that he called you know,
He's the one that always stood out to me, at
least the realm of football. Who I would you know
(07:53):
kind of hardt back to and thing like that sounded
like college football to me. Like that's when you knew
it was a big game. It's when you you know,
you heard Keith Jackson's voice and typically around you know,
in Ohio State Michigan game. Um at least that was
that was for me growing up, Like that was always
you know, the biggest game and kind of the voice
that I think it was, you know, replicated you know,
(08:14):
any sort of you know, large moment in sports, Uh
in the Midwest, you know, I you know, I was
never like That's the thing about broadcasting is I never
really got into it as big until I actually got
into it and started to understand and you know, learned
a lot of the voices the people behind it. You know,
as a kid, I just wasn't always four focused on
you know, who was playing, not necessarily who was broadcasting it. So, uh,
(08:37):
It's it's been something that I think I've had to
learn over the past you know, you know, eight years
or so in getting into broadcasting. I really was ignorant
to it until I started that it actually has a profession. Yeah,
I mean you mentioned Myron Cope I mean that is
easily the most recognizable voice. And this as my Ran
(08:59):
Coup bombs spots um, you know, and Stan Saverign, you know,
being from Pittsburgh and the amount of history connected to
our our programs and the way it was brought to
life with our local personalities and our local brands. Stan
(09:21):
Sovereign is every bit of that type of guy in
Pittsburgh that Myron Cope was to to us as well. Um,
when you thought about football and you thought about the Steelers,
you thought about Myron Cope, and you thought about Stan
savereigns and and so for me, you know, and I
know Stan is is fighting some some health issues as well. Um,
(09:46):
but yeah, I mean that's for me growing up, it
didn't get any better than than listening to them cover camps.
And you know, I guess you didn't really appreciate it
as much with Myron Cope. I didn't appreciate it as
much until I got a little bit older, because at
first I was like, man, who's this creepy, crazy old man?
(10:10):
You know? And why is he like you know, I
mean he kind of if you could like kind of
picture a visual of him, he kind of looked like
the real life. You know, the count you know from
Sesame Street, and he had this like weird looked to
him man, and his voice fit the way he looked,
and and then you started realizing that man, the dude,
(10:32):
he was like a Dick Vitale of Pittsburgh sports, you know,
with that type of energy that he brought to the table.
And obviously if you if you don't know the history
of Myron Cope, he's actually the creator of the Terrible Tao.
You know, so many people try to replicate having something
that is a staple or signature for the team. Well,
(10:54):
I mean that was something that he started and and
that is you know, that is true, tremendous, a tremendous
part of the establishment of what the Pittsburgh still is represents.
So yeah, for me, it was that's an easy one.
That's that's Myron Copin and you know and stan cyveregn. Yeah,
it's uh, a lot of just legends and you look
(11:15):
back on you think to yourself, you didn't realize the
impact they had until you get older and you go,
got it just takes me right back to that moment.
Vince Sculling. There's a lot of people out there listening
to this that here Vin Scully here the voice that
takes him right back to that moment, and that's a
testament to again what a great broadcaster he was. But
anybody you talked to him. We're gonna catch up with
Petros Papadakis coming up an hour three. I know Petros
(11:37):
was a huge fan of Vin Scully. Obviously spent time
around him working at a M five seventy l A Sports,
the home of the l A Dodgers, and so it'll
be interesting to see some of the stories and some
of the memories of Petro's had. But a lot of
people pouring, uh, you know, whether it's social media or
going on television or radio talking about the great Vince Scully,
and it's absolutely deserved a legend and rest in peace
(12:01):
and thoughts and prayers to his family. Uh. It is
two pros and a cup of Joe. Here. Fox Sports Radio,
LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn Jonas knocks with you here brought

(12:43):
fs ARE. Be sure to catch live editions of Two
Pros and a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LaVar
Arrington and Jonas Knocks week days at six am Eastern,
three am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I
Heart Radio. Two Pros and a Cup of know Fox
Sports Radio, LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you
here on fs ARE. Coming up a little over ten
(13:06):
minutes from now, we could have ourselves, uh the snake
bit team of the season in the National Football League.
We'll get into that for you here on Fox Sports Radio.
So the Miami Dolphins Uh, they have been punished. So
the Miami Dolphins, Uh about your pen and paper, not
if you're driving, But they will lose their first round pick,
(13:29):
their third round pick, and owner Stephen Ross was fined
one point five million dollars and suspended the first six
games of this upcoming season for violating the anti tampering
policy and having conversations with Tom Brady and former Saints
head coach Sean Payton. Uh. And this goes back to
two thousand nineteen. They were reaching out to Brady uh
(13:52):
in August of two thousand nineteen, so that was training
camp of his final year in New England, reaching out
to Sean Payton without talking to the Saints and going
through the proper channels. So this is not about the
Brian Flores claims of tanking. They did acknowledge that Stephen
Ross did make comments about tanking, but that it wasn't
(14:14):
made as a serious comment They looked at it is
more maybe of a joking tone. So this has nothing
to do with this. This is all about their tampering
with Tom Brady and Sean Payton. So aggressive approach by
Miami there, Huh really yeah? And and and Ross is
fine at one point five point five million, which is
(14:35):
I mean, that's a healthy fine, and it's it's interesting.
I mean nowadays, I mean, anything you do, texting, phone
calls and all that, I mean, it's going to be
traced back, um, if they're able to do an investigation.
So it probably wasn't too hard to track all this
down and define where there was tampering or where it
took place. But it does, um, you know, I don't
(14:57):
know that anything the NFL that necessarily said the what
Brian flores was looking at doing uh and talking about,
you know, tanking, But it is interesting. I mean, in
one instance, Floors was used to try to, I think,
help recruit Tom Brady if you will, which he talked about.
So so maybe that leads you to believe that, hey,
these things were actually said to Brian Flores by by
(15:20):
Stephen Ross. But the other side of things is, I'll
just say this off the top, it's good for Tua
because now you've got less ammunition if you are the
Miami Dolphins of going and replacing him at quarterback next
year in the draft. They don't have a first round pick,
don't have a third round pick in a future draft
that they could use to move up and get a
guy that they want, and so in at least in
(15:42):
the immediate term, it's almost great for tah. It obviously
doesn't help Stephen Ross, but the rest of it's kind
of history now because none of that came to fruition.
But it's interesting to think what would have taken place
or could have happened had Steven Ross been able to
get Sean Payton as well as Tom Ready, which I
guess you know, share the same agent it DoD Ye,
(16:03):
which is how this all came together. That was the
first thing I thought was one point let's see, one
point five million dollar fine, six games suspension, and you
lose a first round draft pick, But you would have
had Tom Brady and shot Peyton like I'm gonna take
my I'm gonna take my chance. I'm gonna take my shot.
(16:26):
You know, I'm gonna sit out six games and I'm
gonna be sitting at home somewhere and I'm gonna be
having a cocktail watching my team play, which by the way,
he would have probably been doing that anyway by chance. Um,
and you had to pay one point five I think
the biggest hit here is the draft pick uh to
be honest. But if I mean just me just thinking
(16:49):
out loud. The first thing I thought when I saw
the headline was, man, if he would have pulled it
off and didn't think that, Okay, you pull that off
and you bring in to reach it? Ill, um, are
they the super Bowl favorite right out the gate? I
mean there's a possibility that you're having that conversation. So
(17:09):
even if the tampering had came out and this was
your I wonder, I wonder what would have happened if
they did make it, Like, is there any type of
action they take against Sean Payton? Is there any type
of action they would take against uh, Tom Brady? I
would be curious as to how that would have played out.
But other than that, um, you know, I feel like
(17:35):
I feel like tampering takes place more than what people
may know. Is really what I think about, because it's
that's a that's a kind of a you know, that's
a touchy one, you know, in terms of how people
try to communicate. I just I know my memory uh
being a part of helping recruit players when when I
(17:57):
was in Washington, and in my mind, wud be like, man,
it's it's this tampering like are we are we crossing
the line here and what we're doing? And and you
know what, I wanted the players, the players that they
were seeking. I was. I wanted those players too. You know,
(18:18):
I can recall by name, I could recall talking to
to Lavernias Coals and and trying to you know, like
see Gauge where he was at with things, and and
and just wanting to have him on the team with us,
and and listen, I don't I don't, I don't want
to throw anything out there that I'm not aware of.
I don't know what the conversations or what the contact
(18:41):
level was between the organization and guys like Laverneus Coals
that that we were trying to bring in and guys
like chat Morton Um that that we were trying to
bring in. I do not know for certain, because I
was not there for for any type of conversations or
anything at any point in time. So, by no means
am I accusing um Washington of that. But I just
(19:04):
always have been curious, like even at the Pro Bowl,
you know, the types of conversations that ensue at the
Pro Bowl, and and the people that are present during
those conversations at the Pro Bowls. I just always thought
was was kind of you know, teetering the line, I'll say,
(19:26):
in terms of what that could possibly be. But I mean,
I don't know. I didn't take too much away from it, honestly, um,
other than it was kind of cut and dry that
this was the situation and that was the punishment. So
the reasoning why Brady is not due to punish are
set to be punished is because the Dolphins reached out
to him first. Yeah, no doubt so if he if
(19:47):
he would have you know, been aggressive been reaching out
to them. I just I do think it's funny that
they smelled a blood in the water while he was
still in New England and we're like, all right, let's
let's get this gone, Like let's let's Lara started knocking
on some doors. And then there is, you know, the
the thought there were some people that throughout the conspiracy
theory that well maybe Belichick knew about it, which is
(20:08):
why he intentionally accidentally text Brian Flores thinking it was
Brian dave Ball, knowing that he was going to get
Piste off and then go report back to the league
whatever the case may be. I mean, I just wonder
does this mean that neither one of these moves have
a chance of happening moving forward. You know, like like
what if Brady decides, well, maybe I will take a
(20:31):
year off next year. But does that mean the doors
just completely closed with Miami, like like that this is
just now off the table completely that that he would
want to go to Miami if he does leave Tampa
Bay and still wants to keep playing, That's the only
thing I wonder. And then what happens to Sean Payton
as well too? Does this mean that the league is gonna,
you know, frown upon him going to the Dolphins based
on all this, because it's gonna be looked at. Is hey,
(20:53):
one point five million, six games suspension? But at least
you got your guy at least one, if not both
of them. That's where I wonder how this move is
going forward. It's a great question. I mean, honestly, when
when you when you think about in those terms, it's
all still out there. But I always look at tampering
and just kind of step back for a second and think,
this happens all the time in the business world. I
(21:15):
mean literally all the time. There's different you know, businesses
that are looking at trying to improve their company and
bring on better talent, and they'll talk to someone who's
working somewhere else and trying to entice them to come
over to their company. Now there might have be a
noncompete within their contract, but it's just kind of interesting that, um,
you know, we we call it tampering in the world
(21:36):
of sports, yet it happens all the time in business
and outside of a noncompete that may exist within the contract,
if it's in the same industry. Uh, you don't really
see any like a big issue with it. And even
with some non competes, they're not enforceable. You know, people
right now, especially you know, past COVID and all that,
considering where the job market has been, they they'll go
(21:56):
look for a better job and try to you know,
jump somewhere else, and words we're trying to you know,
find good talents somewhere else and pay them additionally to
come on to help them out. It happens all the time.
So it's just it is it is interesting how the
world of sports it's frowned upon so much, yet in
our everyday lives that happens in other industries, Like when
somebody puts in their two week notice and then they
(22:16):
end up working somewhere else three weeks later. Do you
think that just happened in the two week window, like
they just happened to find a gig in that two
weeks that they quit. It was probably in the works,
like you've talked about it going, whether it's at the
combine or the owners meeting, isn't some of this stuff
talked about? Jay Glazer said, like, look, I've been sitting
at dinner where I've seen two coaches who have been
drinking workout a deal, like like to have a conversation
(22:40):
about doing a deal there that that you know, and
sometimes they would walk back the next morning. But this
stuff happens all the time in the league. No, yeah, yeah,
of course, I mean I think, yeah, depending on when
that conversation took place, how many beers he sat having
that conversation, that would largely determine what they decide that
exporting to walk it back or not to. I said,
what what are to? Yeah? That was after number fifteen.
(23:06):
Let me let me let me rethink that for a second. Uh. Yeah,
it's just so we will get to get to hear
all the pushback on it. As far as the the
Floris stuff. That's a whole another And to your point
that it's not like they said he none of this happened.
Like they did say that these comments were made by
(23:26):
Stephen Ross, but that it wasn't made in so much
of a serious tone. It wasn't made to say, hey,
I really want you to go tank, I really want you,
I really will give you a hundred thousand dollars to
lose these games, etcetera, etcetera. And they found whether whether
you buy it or not, they found that that they
were not being serious about these claims from Brian. What
(23:47):
was unclear was whether or not that that you know,
that portion of the NFL's investigation came about via like
second hand meeting. It came from the words of Brian
Flores saying it, and maybe they had someone else who
corroborated it. But they're like, no, no, no no, no, this
was meant and jest or it was it was a joke.
It was he wasn't being serious when he said this.
I mean, and clearly, by the way, if he's going
(24:09):
for Tom Brady and Sean Payton, it's not like that
has anything to do with tanking as it is, right, Yeah,
I mean, if you're going for those two guys, it
has there's no correlation in two thousand nineteen and then
trying to tank to get either of them, because you know, doesn't.
It doesn't benefits you one way or another, whether you're
good or bad to tank at that point if you're
looking for a veteran quarterback at Sean Payton, unless you're
(24:32):
just trying to improve your draft position by taking to
have better, you know, trade compensation, which maybe that was
the case, but either way, it didn't seem like it
was actually document in any way. It was more again
by word of mouth that that they were confirming that
this was said in a joking manner. Yeah, so it
is two pros and a cup of Joe. Here Fox
(24:53):
Sports Radio, LaVar Arrington Brady Quinn Jones knocks with you
here on fs ARE. You can listen to this show
as always on the I Heart Radio app. Coming up X,
we are going to get into one team that could
already be snake bit in the NFL. That's yours right
here on fs ARE for all the latest though from
around the world of sports. He's our guy, twenty plus
years of excellence here cracking the mic at Fox Sports Radio.
(25:14):
It's the one and only Eddie Garcia. All right, thank
you Jones, thank you, Myron Cope. How about that, Eddie?
I can heard that you got a Myron Cope impersonation. Yeah,
come on, let's hear it. Roberto. We have that. I
did something back in the day. Roberto plays it every
once in a while. Yeah, was an old school newspaper
(25:37):
report on the I talked like this, not bad, thank you. Uh.
Now we lead into with that. We lead into the
news of a legendary broadcaster passing away. But I think
Vin Scully would have chuckled it. But it's Scully passing
away on Tuesday Night, of course, a national broadcaster for
football and golf, but best known as the voice of
(25:59):
the Dodgers for sixty seven years, back from the Brooklyn
Dodgers days to the l A Dodgers. The amount of
incredible moments that he was on the mic for is
really ridiculous. Don Larson's perfect game in the World Series
in nineteen fifties six, Hank Aaron's Major League records seven
under fifte cur home run in nineteen seventy four. We
have Bill Buckner's er for the Red Sox against the
(26:20):
Mets in the World Series, and eighty four, Kirk Gibson's
walk off home in the World Series against the A's
and eighty eight, and on and on and on. Vince Scully,
one of the greatest announcers of all time, Baseball Hall
of Famer, passing away at the age of ninety four.
We did have Baseball's trade deadline on Tuesday as well,
and that big deal involving one Soto did go down.
He's headed to the San Diego Padres along with first
(26:41):
baseman Josh Bell from the Washington Nationals for five prospects
and first basement Luke Foyt. So it's twenty three years old,
two time All Star in a National League batting champ.
Now back to Brady Quinn, Lamar Arrington and Jonas Knocks
in the Fox Sports Radio studio. Thanks Eddie, two pros
and a cup of Joe here on Fox Sports Radio.
Coming up in we'll call it about twelve minutes from now,
another edition of an In case you missed it. By
(27:01):
the way, um working uh and nearer. I don't want
to say near death experience, but I was nearly injured
before the show started. Okay, I thought you were talking
about the beat that was attacking you yesterday. Yeah, there
was a beat and attacked me. There was also a
spider that was crawling on my face just last night
when I was trying to sleep, so I had released
(27:21):
that outside. Yeah, I woke up. You swallow a few
few before, you know, in your life. Yeah, like in
the course of a year. I think you swall at
least one spider. That's weird to think about. The other
thing is like, it's it's weird to think about. There's
some who probably don't swallow any during the course of
(27:42):
the year, and some people who are eating a budget spiders,
like they lived like a heavily wooded air the spiders
crawling at him every other week, and that's they're like, yeah,
that's something at the average. Yeah, that is true. Like
who who's making up a majority of the spider eating
during the course of a year. That would like, yeah,
people who live in like a high rise condo or something.
(28:03):
It's like, well, that's probably not eating any spiders. I
guess some guy loves at a wood cabin. He's literally
like he doesn't even need to eat his dinner is
especially spiders. When he falls asleep. He's basically got a
tarantula swimming in scope in the back of his throat
certain nights. Yeah, it's it's a tough outing, kind of
presumptuous to think that individual who's swallowing all these spiders
(28:24):
actually just scope. That's a good point to see again,
probably litster ring. Do you think so? You think they
use any That's what you was getting there. Yeah, that
is true if you got by the popular opinion. I
do like listening better, Yeah, because I do a whole
lot more of a burn. I'll tell you that's an
experience that you're going to have. I'll tell you that. Yeah,
(28:47):
there is scope is a little bit more smooth. That
burn is probably good for you though, right, Yeah, well
because it's got the alcohol in it. But I've heard
that people who have d U I s that need
to blow into the car to get him to start,
they can't use mouthwash before they drive because it will
register alcohol in their system. Uh yeah. How many people
(29:10):
do you actually know have those sold their car? I
know one, and I've never met anyone in the course
of my lifetime that actually had to do that. Once
there was I was living with a couple of buddies
and one of my roommates. One of my roommates had
a gall over and uh, she liked the party, and
(29:32):
I was wondering why she was still there the next
day at like tootive in the afternoon, and she said,
I know I want to go too, but I can't yet.
I'm like, why because I have to blow into my
car in order to dry. She's still she's still drunk
the night before, and I just thought, Wow, that's a
(29:52):
that's a hell of a need for booze. That's where
we're at here. So but there was a pincher bug
on the desk that almost attacked me. Some people call
it an ear wig. I grew up calling it an earwig.
But there was a pincher bug that almost attacked me.
I just want to point that out to everybody here.
So so you know, battling through, battling through all those
risks of a spider a b attack yesterday at a
pincher bug. Uh and uh, and away we go. I
(30:15):
got one for you guys to what I'm saving it
for the good. The bed and the ugly did like that. Yeah,
your podcast professional, you're a stripper too, of our that's
a hell of a tease. Just because you're a tease.
You know, that's what we do here type of guy.
(30:36):
But yeah, so um. Coming up next here on Fox
Sports Radio, we are going to get into a team
speaking of bug bites and insect bites. Somebody a snake
bit in the NFL. It could be a bad omen
for a future Super Bowl contender. We'll get into that
for you. Right here's the same thing. Be sure to

NFL saga that continues on because there are some reports
(31:59):
out there that the NFL could be making a big
decision here very very soon. So we'll have that for
you here again fifteen minutes from now on. FS are
right now though, it's time for something we do on

Good thing. The guys are here to bring you in
(32:20):

over to our executive producer lead Do Do Do Do
Do doal lap Lap guys, in case you missed it.
Tough news for the Denver Broncos. As an m R
I confirmed that wide receiver Tim tim Patrick has suffered
a season ending torn a c L in his right knee.
(32:40):
They also had the running back go down dMar A Crockett,
who also went down yesterday in practice with the same injury,
So you got two injuries in training camp. So now
the Denver Broncos are seeing because Tim Patrick just got
a contract extension, I think I think you've seen a deal.
Yeah he did. I mean he's obviously not cool and
(33:02):
sudden with you know, in that offense, but he's been
solid and what Sudden went down, he's been solid, kind
of stepping up at his place, bigger body wide receiver.
But um, it leads you to think that, man, like
they're one of those teams keep an eye on how
this you know, the rest of the rosters able to
make it through training And I hate it, man, I
hate it for the players, like knowing always how much
work goes into it before the season even starts, and
(33:25):
then it just gets shut down before it gets started.
My heart breaks for them, um because I mean again,
like especially in South Forli you see all these guys
training two in the off seasons and I just hope
the best for him, um, but not even have a
shot at getting in to play this season because of that.
That's that's awful. But that's the reality of the NFL, man,
Like it happens to so many players with the course
(33:46):
of the next few weeks. Do you get do you
recall a time where there were multiple injuries in a
practice and it just changed the vibe of the practice afterwards,
where like like this is uh so that's it's not
one of those you just turn your back on it.
Well I was. I remember they just said riverside and
go the other way. Riverside white, riverside. That's that's just
(34:08):
the term for turning around, so you have your backs
to the injury and go the opposite direction. That was
how much thought we give it riverside or how about
or how about wait until they get him off the field.
You know, dude goes down and he goes down a
rubble and it's like riverside. You know, that's all he gets.
(34:30):
Moving on here, like moving on so hole thing? You mean,
they're not It's not like high school where the cheerleaders
hold up two fingers while they're standing on the stools
and everybody gets down in a prayer circle. It's just
a riverside and turn right around. During Marty ball year
that that happened where we were doing we I mean
Marty had us banging and then one of the drills
(34:53):
were doing, a guy broke his leg, I believe, and
and and coach Shott Hammer goes everybody, let's take a
knee and let's pray. And you hear as everybody's taking
a knee, and it gets quiet before Marty starts praying.
You here, pray pray for what, pray for time. It's
(35:15):
Matt and it's going on around here. We all started
busted out lab and we turned around as Bruce Smith
Bruce Bruce was like, pray for something. The badness riverside,
riverside of man. I mean, that's that's about how it works.
And honestly, here's the most cutthroat part. There is someone
(35:37):
who's waiting to make that roster, who's they're looking at
us an opportunity. I swear to God, Yeah, look at
the roster. Travis Fulgrim, Seth williams Uh, Kendall hitting remember
the guy he filled in his quarterback with all with
all the other COVID issues they had. Remember of those guys.
They're like, hey, this is my shot, this is my opportunity.
(35:58):
But the NFL cares about player safety. That's why Kendall
Hitton started a game of quarterback for them. You know
why they came up with the terminology riverside. You know,
you don't want to rush. You don't want to rush things.
You want to take your time with it and make
sure everything is okay, you know things like that. I
remember one time we Riverside and the dude was just
still there, and eventually they had to put him in
(36:21):
a uh you know, then we realized it was more
serious than than you know what like a stretcher a
golf car. No, they they had uh. So you riversided it.
Look back over, You're like, oh, he's still there. You
(36:45):
because legal, they're they're they're attending to him. I'm telling you,
I my mind wanders, right, I get pretty curious. I
remember when I first started on broadcasting and I came
down one time and I'm like, what happens if like
someone gets hit by a bus, you know, like getting
ready before the camera? Right, Oh, they'll find someone to
(37:07):
replace you. It's like the broadcast would go on though,
They'll they'll riverside this river side, it go to the opposite.
By the way, speaking of Riverside, shout out to our
fine affiliate Fox Sports a M thirteen fifty in Riverside,
California about shout out, Well done a little something there?
What else you got, Lee? Because a lot of buzz
(37:28):
around Lamar Jackson bulking up this offseason. He confirmed yesterday
he's weighing in at about pounds after gaining twenty five
pounds of muscles. Okay, that's nice. He'll get tested for
p d S later this afternoon. That's how that'll work.
Uh well, let me see, does he look any different?
I honestly don't care what heys. I just wanted to
keep like taking steps as a passer and me, I
(37:51):
mean him putting on more weight only lends me to
think that he's just gonna continue to keep running, which
is great, but there's also this element of their game.
They need to get over this hump to go win
an a f C you know, championship and go to
the super Bowl. And until he improves that part of
his game to be one of those elite passers, which
(38:12):
I think. But people have questioned, it's not gonna matter
what he weighs in the pocket. So they're saying he's
two thirty. Now, maybe he's bulking up so that he
can take those hits in the pocket. He's got on
a stand in there. I'm saying, maybe he's like, you
know what, I'm gonna put it on twenty five pounds.
(38:32):
I'm gonna stand in there, I'm gonna take these hitsounds
kind of a lot, no, for it depends on like
it's a lot, but it depends on like your your diet,
your regiment, and you're working out, like I don't know
what he's done in the past. So it's hard because
if some guys aren't big into weights and they have
they haven't even like a certain type of diet, then
(38:53):
you can buy those two in a six month yeard.
You can put on a lot of weight for a
scale player at the pro level, twenty five pounds, that's
a lot of weight, Like I can't. I can't. I
played at two fifty. If I put on twenty five
pounds of I'm hoping muscle in the off season, I'd
be to seventy, Like that's what I'm aligned to. We
(39:15):
had this guy, I think it was the guy who
was responsible for someone who was like around the Nebraska's
Frank training program my rookie year when I came in
and I was like two thirty two. Someone there he
was like she took all these like measurements and stuff.
He's called you know five years from now. He's like,
you should be weighing two fifty five. And I was
like what he was like Yeah, with the right training
(39:36):
and all that, we can get you up to two
fifty five. Like he wanted me to win under pounds.
I'm like, I'm good, dude, Like I don't think I
need to get any bigger. Like this is that's the
opposite thing of what I want to do at this point. Man. Yeah,
well listen to who Maybe maybe that will slow Lamar
Jackson down. I think that's gonna affect his running ability there,
Brady Quinn, if you want to break down some axs
(39:56):
and nose here and kind of go over that aspect
of the game. You know, what do you think gonna
is that what you're doing, you're breaking out? Yeah, just
I'm just wondering affect him moving forward? Yeah, that's what
Leavar said to start the show. Just stammers. That is
a good point, Melt though. Stop. Fox Sports Radio has
