Before we get going, always got to check in how
y'all doing, man, got TJ got plexed?

Speaker 6 (01:14):
Man?
Speaker 4 (01:15):
Hey man, you know it's always great times out hear
and now it is you know for me, LeVar, I
look outside, not a cloud in the sky. Guy's palm
trees for you. Yeah, you see clearest guy's palm trees
and water. I see clearest guy's palm trees and other homes.
Speaker 5 (01:36):
You know, when you're coming through, man, you gotta come.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
Through, bro, I've never been invited, you know. I can't
just go wow. I just can't go to people's homes uninvited.
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
I mean, mister Sti is out there nowadays, and I
mean he sticks now, he ain't.
Speaker 5 (01:52):
He ain't little sticks no more. He is mister s Now.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
But you know, it is always an open invite to y'all.
You know that, one hundred percent say less. Anyway, what's
going on in Jersey though, I'm sure.
Speaker 6 (02:07):
Well it's really not that human. It's actually been the
kind of nice man the last few days. I think
last week we went through this heat wave of one
hundred plus you know, weather fight two or three days,
but man, and getting cool back down into the hot seventies.
So very very delightful Saturday morning, very delightful, not too hot,
(02:28):
it's just right. It's definitely a barbecue welling, no doubt.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
About it, all right, Okay, well, speaking of barbecuing, uh one.
Shador Sanders played last evening. There were a few games yesterday,
but I'm certain that the one that everyone was waiting
for and wanting to see was how Cleveland would do
with Schador at the ham starting basically because of injuries,
(02:55):
allowing the opportunity for him to get as many reps
as he's he has gotten. There have been a lot
of speculation, a lot of opinions. Some people think Shador
was set up for failure. Some people don't think Shador
was set up for failure at all. Some people feel
as those Shador Sanders should be the starter. There's a
(03:16):
lot of things that can be discussed, but hey, here's
what Shador had to say after the game.
Speaker 5 (03:21):
Do you feel like you did something today to move
up the depth chart?
Speaker 7 (03:25):
I honestly don't know, and I don't really care. You know,
whenever it's my turn and I just gotta take advantage
of it. I feel like, you know, today I did
some good some bad, and I know moving forward, you
know I won't make the same mistakes twice does not
in my cons throwing, you know, regardless of whatever the situation.
Speaker 5 (03:43):
That's not up to me, and it is what it is.
Speaker 7 (03:45):
I just got to, you know, accept whatever, whatever everything
come with.
Speaker 5 (03:49):
I gotta tell y'all. He looked like he was a vet.
Like I'm not.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
I'm not one of them riders, you know what I mean,
Like I don't. I don't jump on bandwagons. Look, his
dad was a teammate. Love his dad, love his pops.
His Chador played in my eighth grade All Star game.
So he goes, I go back that far with with Shador.
I mean, hell, I go back far when Bucky was
coming out onto you know, Ridskins Park and full full
(04:16):
twenty one gear in apparel and pads and helmet to
go to practice with his dad. I'm not one to
be a fluffer. We don't fluff on this show. We
always shoot from the hip, and and that's important. The
kid looked for real.
Speaker 5 (04:32):
He was.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
He was putting balls in small windows like in a
preseason game. I don't, I don't you know, I don't
know about you guys, but I don't look at it
from the standpoint of of looking at it as a
total body of work. Because one sometimes you have backups
in I mean, he's a backup. Sometimes you're you know,
obviously you're not you're not game planning, so they he
(04:55):
wasn't game planned as a player going into this game.
So I'm not looking at Okay, they won the game
or they lost the game, so he's not good or
he's really good.
Speaker 5 (05:05):
I look for little things. How did he survey the field,
how did he.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Throw the ball? What was his command of the you know,
the players, the way the plays were being called. Did
he notice and recognize things. I mean, we'll talk about
Anthony Richards and he clearly didn't recognize that there was
a blitz coming and there was a free man coming
off of the edge.
Speaker 5 (05:24):
I don't get that.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
He held the ball a couple of times, he had
to scramble a couple of times.
Speaker 5 (05:30):
But all in all, I thought the.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
Kids showed that he is what he was originally prospected
to be or looked at to be. He looked like
a high draft pick taking snaps for the first time
in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (05:45):
What say you guys, listen man, I wanted to see
Shader play with time and and anticipation. He did that.
There was a couple of times where he had to
get out of the pocket because he was forced and
or touchdowns where he ran for plenty of yards. The
way that he played, I'll be honest, man, he exceeded
(06:08):
my expectations. I guarantee he exceeded the Cleveland Browns expectations.
Guarantee he did. Guarantee he did because they didn't think
he was going to do this. If they thought he
was gonna do that, he didn't be getting reds with
the ones all in training camp.
Speaker 5 (06:22):
He looked real comfortable man to be.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
A rookie, a fifth round pick, and let's just be honest, man,
they drafted Dylan Gabra in front of him. He was
an afterthought. SHADERF. Sanders was. He was an afterthought the
way that day, young man went in there and played remarkable.
Your first game in a National Football league as a
fifth round pick. Receivers we do that. Corners make it
(06:48):
out there and do that. Some linebackers. In a quarterback,
a fifth round pick, you start the first preseason game
and you played that way. Let's just go look. Go
look at the first round pick from last year. What
did they do in their first preseason game? Go look.
All you got to do is go do the research.
They didn't do this. Now, they didn't play two and
(07:10):
a half quarters. Man, Shuder should be extremely excited about
that performance. But this is a National Football League because
what happened yesterday now it doesn't matter. You got to
go do it again next week. And that's the NFL.
But man, hell of us start, hell of us start
and think about this. He not even out there playing
(07:33):
with the best guys on the Cleveland Brown's team. He
not playing with Jerry Judy and those boys. And so
he's going to be better because he's gonna be playing
with better players when it really matters. And so for me,
it's done. Shaderra Sannders my Week one starter. It ain't
even a competition no more. It's his I'm getting ready.
(07:53):
If the Brown's gonna do it, they tripping.
Speaker 6 (07:56):
Man, let's just call it what it is. I mean
football where he got drafted. That had nothing to do
with football. It has to do with more of you
listening to his interview.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
I really don't care.
Speaker 6 (08:11):
I'm gonna take advantage of every opportunity that I have
as a quarterback with the rest of the I'm getting
And I think the most impressive part about him going
out and playing the way that he did yesterday was
that his reps were limited the whole training camp. For
him to go out there and look the way that
he looked yesterday, I believe everybody in that building and
(08:31):
that quarterback room now say, you know what, he was
the best quarterback in college football last year until the combine.
From the combine to yesterday, I don't know what happened.
But when he goes out and he performs the way
that he played, nobody can say anything. But that's always
(08:54):
only the preseason. Hey, if he played bad.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
You be dogging them, Yes, you would should be dogging them.
Speaker 6 (09:00):
So accept the way that he played yesterday. The young
man can flat out play the position. He went out
there and commanded this offense. I mean, one of the
best throws that I saw him go yesterday, the slot
receiver outside motioned down. He goes under the back of
and crosses the free safety's face, and Shador is patient
(09:21):
enough to stand in the pocket to look off the
free safety and throw the dig behind him. I mean
that is reading coverages. So when he put that on tapement,
he showed me that some of the throws that he
was making, he played very confident.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
They ran a.
Speaker 6 (09:37):
High lower in the flat and a corner came off
of a corner route trying to make a play on
the football and he put it right over the.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
Corner in the back of the end zone.
Speaker 6 (09:47):
Rookie quarterbacks don't put themselves in that situation to make
those kind of throws, and he does it, and he
did it yesterday. So stop with all the oh, it
was just the preseason. The man can flat out play football.
And just like he said, I'm just gonna go out
there and take advantage of every opportunity that is getting
(10:10):
to me, and he did that.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
Yeah, I think it should be said obviously that, as
you guys mentioned, if he didn't play well, it would
have been the biggest story in all of sports. He
has driven the storyline even now, even now with veterans,
it's been pretty much him and Aaron Rodgers, if you
ask me, that have driven and now maybe the Michael
(10:33):
Parsons deal, which we'll get into that.
Speaker 5 (10:36):
Pretty soon here, but that has driven the narrative, fellas.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
And to talk about the amount of pressure, I mean,
seeing him out there, it was almost like watching.
Speaker 5 (10:45):
A movie star in a movie.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
I don't know about y'all, but I'm sitting there watching him,
I'm like, man, it's like almost like he's a character.
It's not even like we're looking at a football player.
He has been made a hero, he's been made a villain,
he's been made everything in between. And now he's got
to go out there for the Cleveland Browns. Mind you,
(11:08):
by the way, this ain't this ain't the Kansas City Chiefs.
This isn't the Baltimore Ravens going out there with Cleveland,
all right, and if you know, you know, and he's
being tasked with being the starting quarterback week one due
to injuries.
Speaker 5 (11:26):
Now I know y'all know this.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
I mean TJ loves saying we was high draft picks
so we don't have to deal with these types of situations.
But oh, here we go. But but TJ would know
this better than me and Plexico. When opportunity presents itself, suh,
it's the preparation that that will dictate. It's the belief
in who you are that will dictate what you do
(11:51):
with that opportunity.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
Let's rewind in LeVar, because you bring this up. Number one,
sure was throwing BB's in the dark. Throwing BB's in
the dark was extremely accurate. And what you just said
is so true. Because Shadu was a fifth round draft pick.
We all know, I know, you know. If he didn't
play well, it would have been this is why we
(12:16):
drafted him in a fifth round. This is why he's
been running with the backups. This is why. Opportunity would
it have come again, probably, but I don't know when.
Because when you're drafted late, you have to take advantage
of every opportunity. Now you guys do as well because
you got the first rounders, but you're gonna you're gonna
(12:37):
get opportunity today, you get opportunity tomorrow, and you get
opportunity on next day. Guys that are drafted late, you
may get just that one opportunity, better take advantage.
Speaker 5 (12:48):
They could have if he.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
Really bombed out. Let's be real here and we know it,
he could have been let go today. I can guarantee you.
Speaker 4 (12:55):
That they wouldn't have let him go. They wouldn't let
him go, but guarantee closed door, or they would have said, see,
we told you guys.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
This what is I can guarantee you there's dudes that
are looking for jobs today. If we go look at
the wire, if somebody costed themselves a job in those
games yesterday this week that we're played, they're looking for
a job already.
Speaker 5 (13:15):
Pink slips are being handed out already, y'all.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
Just keep that in mind.
Speaker 5 (13:19):
And he's a fifth round draft pick. So yes, I
agree with you, TJ.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
I don't think he loses his job if he bombed
it out, but if he had a moment where where
he'd played bad and handled himself incorrectly. I mean, the
dude came in, he had to do with the X
Clan staff walking in. He was playing his own music.
The man was playing his own music on the boombox.
It already started there. It's like, okay, the haters will arrive.
(13:46):
They all came to the table. How many people you
thought were watching that game yesterday hoping and praying and
had voodoo dolls everything, hoping that shitdoor Sanders bombed his opportunity,
and he did it, and he did it.
Speaker 6 (14:02):
You know what, this takes me back to a couple
of days ago. Man, just having a conversation with my son.
He was a little frustrated in the first couple of
days with some of the reps he was getting, and
I told him, I said, you know what, man, don't
get caught up and counting numbers because things change every
(14:22):
single day on the football field. Control what you can
control when your number is called and when you have
the opportunity to go out and prove yourself, be prepared
because the opportunity is coming. And now you know what,
he's running with the ones because you know what, when
when you got your opportunity, you was prepared. You went
(14:42):
out there, you made plays, played with confidence. And when
you once you start seeing yourself half success and you're
playing with confidence, that's when you start playing football. So
don't get caught up and the who's who is who's
in front of me and all the reps I'm not getting, Man,
when you get your opportunity to go out and perform,
(15:03):
when when you're prepared and the opportunity comes to you,
go out and control what you can control and take
advantage of your opportunity.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
I sent this to Nef this morning. You know I
keep up with crew and Elijah. I sent this to
him this morning. I said, keep applying pressure, stay true
to the process. Remember you was made to be great,
so just be yourself. Yeah, I mean I sent that
to eat this morning, so be clear those those those
feelings of belief, those ideas, and those understanding of self.
(15:37):
I think we saw last night with Shador Sanders. This
is a message to all of the parents out there.
There's a difference between teaching your kids belief and teaching them,
you know, having confidence and believing in themselves and putting
that work in versus being a delusional parent that believes
(15:59):
that your kid is better than everyone else and it's
everybody else's fault that your kid isn't doing what you
want them to do or how they want how you
want them to do it, and living out your dream.
There's a difference, and I think we saw with Shador
Sanders last night. Y'all can say what y'all want, You
can believe what you want to believe, you can write.
(16:19):
He even confronted of Rosie, I believe his name one
of the Tonys.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
You know what's crazy. He probably got more reps in
this game than he probably did the last practice problem,
you know how the reps are going at he not
getting any reps in practice. He got more reps in
the game than he's been getting in practice, probably in
three or four days.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
But his belief has never wavered. His identity of who
he is has never wavered. And I think that's a testament,
a true testament. You say what you want to say
about Prime, and you can think what you want to
think about him. But I'm looking at this from a
family standpoint, and if we're just breaking it down to
the bare minimum of looking at it as a father
and son and what that relationship looks like. We saw
(17:03):
the quote Shador said he didn't want his dad to
come to the to the to the practices, didn't want
him to come out until he gets to where he's going.
That baby went out there and and and was cooking
last night, So he knows what's at stake and he
knows what his his ability is. And that's to me,
I think that that is a testament. I think that
(17:24):
that is inspirational, it's motivational, it's I mean, it just
it makes you feel good about what being a father represents.
Speaker 5 (17:35):
I'll say that I had I had a.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
Proud moment again, just thinking like Wow, this kid has
gone through so much to be at this point in
this moment, and he did not he did not waste it. Now,
I don't know what that means for the next games
or the next game after that. I don't know what
that means for the future, but I'll say in the
moment right now, that was a win. So hey, there
you go. You know, have at it, do what it
(17:58):
what you want to do with it. But I think
that's overwhelming majority majority. I guess conclusion that Shador Sanders,
like like you said, TJ, not only was the hype,
but he probably exceeded the hype and the expectation of
what it was coming into this game. So anyway, we'll
(18:19):
get to a lot more that's going on out there.
Anthony Richardson, we brought that up. That ain't as quite,
that ain't the same, that ain't really the same story.
But we'll talk about that and what that means for
the Indianapolis Colts. We'll get back to you in a
couple minutes. It's up on Game. This is Fox Sports

Speaker 2 (19:33):
Fellas want to throw out the Anthony Richardson situation. He
leaves the game with a finger injury. It got dislocated
on a play where the defensive end a jabot A jabo?
Speaker 5 (19:50):
Is that correct? That the right name? Do I get
it right? A jabo?
Speaker 2 (19:53):
This defense end anyway, Yeah, he came off the edge,
the tight end released the back release. Now I feel
like the back sold him because he saw him running free.
Speaker 5 (20:07):
I feel like the back might have sold him a
little big.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
He just threw that little writ that little flipper out
there and just letting go and was just probably assuming
that you know, rich would see it and hit him
in the flat the flare, but Richardson didn't turn around
and he was hit tremendously hard, dislocated his finger. You know,
he said, he's okay, it's a little sore, a little tender.
(20:32):
They put it back in place. But I mean, is
this a concern? Does this? How important is this preseason
for Richardson? Anthony Richardson to maintain an opportunity to be
a starter for the Indianapolis Colts, knowing that Daniel Jones
is right there in the wings holding did not have
(20:54):
a bad game.
Speaker 4 (20:55):
By the way, for me, anybody that hasn't experienced success
in the National Football League, every game you play in,
especially the preseason, is important. And so for Anthony Richardson.
My thing is this. When you look at that play,
(21:15):
I would call that like an action protection. The entire
line slid left, entire line right tackle, he slid to
the left. So one or two things had to have happened.
The obvious one Anthony Richardson should have known that's what
they were doing, and he was gonna be hot. And
(21:36):
you got to get rid of me because you just
said earlier, the tight end and the running back both released.
If they both released, it didn't matter if the back
sees him coming free. His job is to free release
that we're not We're not checking and going, we're free releasing.
So when you free release on offense, I don't care
if I see somebody coming, I'm outflanking him. Now I'm
(21:57):
getting the ball and I'm Anthony richard has to know
that or the black blue the assignment. You're supposed to
go down and cut that guy. It's either or it's
one another and there there's no and so either Anthony
Richardson he didn't understand what was going on, or the
back didn't understand what was going on. So you can't
(22:18):
have these mistakes, man, you can't have these mistakes. And
now you got a dislocated pinky. Everybody slid to the left.
There's only one or two things that's supposed to happen.
That's football one on one. Bro, You've learned that so early.
You took the ways right.
Speaker 6 (22:33):
I'm up, man, it's so much wrong with this play
that it just doesn't even make it any since, first
of all, the running back DJ Givening he's a rookie,
so he has no idea what is going on the
football field. It's his first preseason game. They no, it's
a three man rush. You get an add on from
the back of the whole line is sliding to the left.
(22:54):
The tight end, the left tackle, and the left guard
are blocking one man the down defensive end, and the
tackle has to know that I'm not gonna I'm not
going to slide down if if if if, if the
back is getting out, it's getting out to the flats.
The back doesn't know any don't doesn't know any difference,
(23:15):
and Anthony Richison has to know. And I understand when
he gets that add on as a backer on his tackle,
he knows that there's a free rusher coming on the outside. Listen,
I understand this preseason. None of these things are game
plan or whatever the case may be. I would assume
during the regular season that he would recognize, uh, the
(23:39):
backer and he doesn't have enough guys on the right
side that he would slide the left, the right guard,
and the left tackle to the to the boundary to
pick up this blitz.
Speaker 4 (23:52):
It's a it's a it's football one on one.
Speaker 6 (23:55):
I'm saying for for the fact that him not to
recognize it, that's what is It's very alarming about the
whole situation that he's been in the NFL with the.
Speaker 4 (24:05):
Three Seeds two. This is his third two. This is
third season, and any recognize a simple one two? What
play was that in a game? Do you do anybody
like like what number? Like third play, fifth play, tenth play.
Speaker 5 (24:17):
I don't remember.
Speaker 4 (24:18):
I don't remember, because if it's early in the game,
you're kind of going over certain plays and you should
have an idea. Okay, oh yeah, yea, yeah, this is
the one that's been getting me trouble on practice, so
kind I need to make sure that like those are
the type of things and if he's having.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
Trouble with us, I feel like that's the easiest play
for somebody to have success on as a defender. So
I'll give you defensive perspective as a defender. If I
if I'm getting a free run at the quarterback, there
has to be a reason why, and there has to
be a timing thing that does not allow for me
(24:55):
to get there. As a defender, I'm thinking something is
not right if I'm.
Speaker 5 (25:01):
This free to the quarterback. That's first things. First.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
Second thing, If I'm the quarterback and I know that
this is the play that I'm running and I know
that like to me. The only reason or the only
way I could see Anthony Richardson messing this play up
is because he was unaware of where the blocking scheme
was going exactly, because if you're not aware of what
where the blocking scheme has been called and where it's going,
(25:28):
it's either that or he was locked into a play
that he was like, Okay, my receiver here was wide
open on this play. We're going to come back to it,
or we're running it right now, and all I need
is him to get that double move or that next
step or whatever it is, and then boom, we're money.
Speaker 5 (25:45):
Whatever it was.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
I don't understand why he did not check the right
say he never looked one time.
Speaker 4 (25:54):
He didn't have to check. That's what the back is for.
Speaker 6 (25:57):
It's like a hot release, so he can take away
all those things you just said and just drop the ball.
Speaker 4 (26:04):
Out to the right.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
Then that's a big play and which saw not to
be a comparison deal, but we saw Shador. He was
getting the ball out quick. The pressure was coming, he
was getting the ball out. They were quicks. They were
throwing the quicks. If I'm feeling, and this is the
Baltimore Ravens, They're going to come after you. If I'm
feeling the pressure early on in the game, I don't
(26:25):
care early, mid late game, I don't care if I'm
feeling pressure. As a defensive player, the best way to
get pressure up off of an offense is to neutralize
the rush by getting it to your safety valves quick.
Speaker 5 (26:42):
And that was the back.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
The back was probably wide ass open in that flare,
super wide, and and he's instead he's getting a dislocated
finger out of the deal. What does this do for
Daniel Jones Fellas Like, we're like, okay, we talked about
one play, like and we should not just like we
judged you know, in the last segment, we judged a
(27:04):
young man for having a good game. Well, we should
not judge a young man for having a bad play.
And we've talked about a bad play. But the thought
process that goes into that type of play, I would
agree with you guys.
Speaker 5 (27:19):
That's concerning. That's concerning.
Speaker 2 (27:21):
If you're going into your third year and that can't
make that mistake, I want to say.
Speaker 5 (27:26):
Go ahead.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
So what what does that mean for this Colts team?
What does this mean for Anthony Richardson? That's just a
correctable deal or is it just there's a lack of
awareness here.
Speaker 4 (27:35):
I mean, obviously it's everything is correctable, everything is correct right, You.
Speaker 5 (27:40):
Would think so unless he's a can't get right.
Speaker 4 (27:42):
You know, at this point, it's man, simple protections were
blowing them. And again I'm not gonna put the blame
on rich thing because I don't know if the back
was supposed to block, because I know we've had protections
where the back you cut that guy at the end
of the line of scrimmage. If a backer blitz is
a backer looked like he came, so the tackles slid
to the left, the back has to block him. We're
(28:04):
in a preseason, man, I'm not letting anybody go one
block to my quarterback when we're having a quarterback competition.
I'm not doing that. That's number one. Number two is
you just got to move on. If you're Anthony Richson,
you gotta move on and try to get better because
this is a competition. At this point, Anthony Richardson has
been hurt. All Daniel Jones has to do, in my opinion,
(28:27):
is be decent. He's going to be the starter. But
because they drafted Anthony Richson in the top five, they
want him to be the starter, but he's playing, he's
playing catch up. Think about it. He was drafted in
the top five, Lamar Jackson was the last pick in
the first round. That's crazy. And it's not the same year,
(28:49):
but same type of player. Obviously, Richardson didn't have many
starts in college at Florida. But he's going to have
to figure this out mentally. There's never been a question
about his physical ability is mentally can he figure this out?
And again, I don't want to speculate and say that
was on him because it could have been on the back.
But a man even even still though a quarterback that
(29:13):
knows he's what a rookie running back is going to
remind him on this play, Hey, but you gotta do this.
You just gonna give him a little hat up.
Speaker 6 (29:22):
We don't know, because teacher, you know that we have
certain protections where the back if he recognizes that they
are going to be hot or they have one more
man that they can block, then the back will stay
in and protect. We don't know if all Jay getting
he's a rookie, he don't know any better, So we
(29:43):
don't know whose fault it was.
Speaker 4 (29:45):
But for for for a.
Speaker 6 (29:47):
Three year, a high draft pick in the top five,
for Anthony Richardson to not recognize a three down rush
and then get himself out of that situation. Those are
the things that you do not want to see.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
Well, I'll tell you what. You don't want to see
your quarterbacks getting dislocated fingers in preseason games. And that's
a conversation we will have. We had a serious injury
take place in the Lions game as well. What's the
take on, you know, playing in the preseason. How should
we be viewing that. We'll get to that, but let's
(30:25):
get an update from our guy. Very clean, very well dressed,
very well groomed, gentleman, fine young man by the name
of Easa Glowing crom I.
Speaker 8 (30:36):
Thank you, LeVar Or. We'll start with an update on
that line's injury. Safety Maurice Norris in stable condition and
had feeling and movement in all his extremities after being
injured in last night's preseason game against the Falcons. He
remained overnight at a hospital in Atlanta for observation.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
Today.
Speaker 8 (30:52):
In fact, Norris posted on Instagram quote, I'm all good man,
don't stress it. Appreciate all the check ins and love unquote.
Also Friday night, the Cleveland Browns wan in Carolina thirty
to ten, Shador Sanders fourteen of twenty three for one
thirty eight, two touchdown passes, no interceptions, the Patriots defeat
of the Washington Commanders forty eight to eighteen, as New
(31:14):
England rookie running back Traveon Henderson returned the opening kickoff
one hundred yards for a touchdown. Now coming up at
the top of the hour, the Buffalo Bills will be
hosting Russell Wilson and the New York Giants. And an
interesting development going on right now in Buffalo Bill's running
back James Cook, who has set out four straight practices
due to a contract dispute, is in uniform and is
(31:38):
participating in pregame warm up. Still seems unlikely that he
will play in the game, but will continue to keep
you guys updated back.
Speaker 5 (31:45):
To you appreciate it. Ilo.
Speaker 2 (31:46):
Like I said, on the other side of the break,
we will talk injuries in the preseason. Unfortunate deal for
the safety Maurice Maurice Norris, thoughts and prayers to him,
but we'll get to that and we'll talk about it
on the other side of the break.
Speaker 5 (32:03):
You're listening to Up on Game. It's t J.
Speaker 2 (32:05):
Huchman Zada, It's Flexico Burst, and well it's me. It's
LeVar Arrington, will take quick break. This is Fox Sports Radio.
All right, welcome back in this says up on Game,
and well we're finishing out this first hour.
Speaker 5 (32:21):
They go so fast.
Speaker 2 (32:22):
I'll tell you what, man, there's not enough time to
talk about all of the things that we would love
to talk about, but we will touch on some outside
of football topics in the next hour, so make sure
you stay tuned to that. You know, I want to
hear the fella's opinions on the Shikari Richardson deal. I mean,
she was a folk tale hero and an urban legend
(32:42):
based off of not getting a chance to run because
of some weed. Well, I don't know, maybe she got
a little bit too ahead of herself now and she
thinks she too much of a hero because she definitely
was acting out a little bit. But we'll talk about that.
I don't know, we'll see what the opinions on that are.
But right now, ending out this hour, let's talk about
(33:03):
playing in the preseason. Fellas, Like we had four preseason
games when we were playned they've now gone down to
three limited amount of preseason games. I think any vet
of the game would say I love the fact that
there's less preseason games. But with that being said, I
think vets would also say that that's your way of
(33:24):
working yourself back in to gain condition. I think people
all know if you played the game, there's no way
to simulate a game rep without being in a game.
And in the third game, generally speaking, was the game
that you did your full dress rehearsal for a real
game and you knew that your body had been acclimated
(33:47):
or you needed something more to be ready for week
one of the season. Now it just seems as though
you don't want to get your starters hurt and you're
going to try to figure out who who's going to
make the team. Fellas, do you like preseason? Is this
enough games? What is the purpose of preseason at this point?
Speaker 4 (34:09):
Number one, the preseason, at least for us, was you
had to prove yourself and it's still the same. So
number one, I love the preseason because there's gonna be
guys that are on the fence, the coaches are in
the meetings. I don't know, can he do it in
the game. You look so good in practice, can he
(34:31):
do it in the game? He gets in the game
and he does it. So now you're gonna get more
opportunity that we could practice, but they want to see
you do it in the game. Again. To me, the preseason,
there's always a few guys on each team that they
get into that game and they just do better than
(34:53):
they were doing and practice their gamers. And we've all
played with those type of guys like where this comes from.
He wasn't doing this in practice, And so yes, the preseason.
They should never do away with the preseason because there
are so many guys that make a name for themselves
and go on to have a great career because of
(35:15):
the preseason. And so I love it. I think three
games is about right the way the way they treat
these guys now, man, is they looking after your body?
I mean we were going double days and playing uh
plenty of snaps and we were starters. And so I
(35:36):
like it, and I don't think they should ever do
away that because it's so many guys that they need
these games. They need them. The majority of the guys
need them more than the guys that don't want to.
Speaker 5 (35:47):
Play go ahead, plex, I gotta follow up question, But
go ahead.
Speaker 6 (35:50):
God, you obviously man us pros and cons to you
know what, you wanted to see everybody get off the
field healthy. But you know, like they say, they say,
you know, everybody looks good to him as helmets in shorts,
and we're gonna separate the men from the boys when
the pass get on. I think with having a shorter preseason,
all of those guys that are on the fence, like
they don't get the real best opportunity to go out
(36:13):
and prove themselves. I think that's the number one kind
of you know, having a shorter preseason, they don't really
have the time and the reps to audition for other teams.
So if other teams don't get a chance to see.
Speaker 4 (36:26):
Those guys on film, that's interesting.
Speaker 6 (36:28):
Then those guys, you know, they kind of just wander
off and kind of get lost in the system. But
you know, I always like paying the preseason. My number
one goes to go out there, get my beak wet,
catch a couple of balls, geta to feel healthy. And
that's what it is. Now with being a shorter preseason,
they're just really protecting the guys. You know, the starters
(36:49):
from really you know, going out and having a putting
them at risk. But hey, when you see Joe Burrow
and Jamar Chase go out on the first preseason game
and start and playing, that, shit like a fire under
you if you're any starting quarterback in the NFL, because
because you know what they're saying, we are going to
get off to a better start this year than we
(37:12):
have in the past two or three years. Because there's
no way in the world with the season that Joe
Burrow had last year that they shouldn't make the playoffs.
The Browns, I mean, the Bengals are going to get
off to a better start just because they are playing
in the preseason.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
All I would ask to that is is it worth
risking the injury? What if Joe Burrow goes down?
Speaker 4 (37:37):
Oh, it's football.
Speaker 5 (37:38):
I agree with that.
Speaker 4 (37:40):
Every time he step on the football, you're taking a risk.
Speaker 5 (37:42):
But but you're taking a risk in a game that
doesn't count.
Speaker 4 (37:46):
But you got the way. The Bengals have started slow
since Zach Taylor has been a head coach in September.
Speaker 5 (37:53):
On to and they have the players.
Speaker 4 (37:57):
The Bengals have won one game in the last three
years in September. They have no choice, but the plan
of preseason. They have no choice, but the plan of preseason.
Now fingers crossed. Everybody stays healthy. But these are the
chances you take. You can get hurting practice, These are
the chances you take. But I will say though, when
(38:18):
you're a starter and you're really proving, like those guys,
you really don't want to play. But once you get
out there it's fun. But leading into the game, you're like,
oh my god, I hope their starters are playing it.
Their starters not playing. You're not really up for the game.
But once the game starts, you good to go. It's
just your temperament heading into the game.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
I just always wanted to feel normal. I don't know
if that makes sense, Like going into the game, I
just want to feel normal, Like I wanted my legs
to feel normal. I wanted my movement to feel normal
when I was out there, and then I was good,
like you take me out. If I felt good after,
I at least needed one series to say, okay, dang,
I feel quick, because sometimes I didn't feel whether it
(39:01):
was the cleats I wore or the way my socks
were or the way my uniform looked. I felt like
the uniform could make you feel slower. I felt like
there were certain things if my swag wasn't all the
way right, I felt different and I didn't feel as good.
I wanted to get into a game and just feel normal,
and then I was good to come out. I know
that might sound weird and strange, but you know I'm
(39:22):
a weird and strange dude. It's gonna get weirder and
stranger to an hour or two of that show. Y'all
take a quick break, all right, because we're gonna take
a quick break and listen on the other side. On
the other side of this break, we're gonna talk Michael Parsons,
Dallas Cowboys, the latest with that, what's going on with that.
Speaker 5 (39:40):
This is up on games Fox Sports Radio. We'll be
right back
