rack dot Com studios. Tire irac dot com will help

(01:25):
rac dot com The way tire buying should be. I
can't wait, man, it's gonna be fun. It's you know,
it's you know it's it's gonna be fun, like just
like finding like stuff to lift up around there, just
to get like our pump on so we could be
impressive around the horses. The horses are all jacked, you know,
(01:46):
all like swollen, and you and I are just gonna
be like looking around for things to lift, like you know, tables.
I mean, I'm gonna be dressed for dressed for the
horse tracks. I'm gonna make sure to be looking dapper.
You you do know that, right? What are you talk like?
What is it like your black leather jacket type place
that you have some respect for? Keenlandes and the jockeys
(02:09):
and all involved. Lien already packed. So I may need
to stop by a ross dress for us to make
some adjustments. Uh yeah, well look, I mean, uh, you
know I got I got some nice stuff, um, you know,
put together, you know, kind of not really now that
you bring that up. Now, what are we talking about?
You going like three all right? Now? Is this just
for radio or is this after the show when we're
(02:31):
watching the ponies race. It's for both. It's for both.
I mean clearly since a visual median. Yeah, okay, So
so you're gonna get really dressed upter that I'm not. Uh,
And also I want to I don't want to wear
clothes that are going to be too restrictive because I'm
telling you I'm gonna get my swollen. I'm gonna be
like finding golf cards to lift up and do shoulder shrugs.
I mean, I'm gonna I'm gonna be looking around for
(02:52):
stuff because we gotta look our best. This is. I mean,
if you're talking about what a prestigious race track this is,
we've got a top notch and I need to get
swollen and jacked for this race. Telling you mants with
that right now. Man, we're just talking about horse racing, okay,
but listen some material about the weather, track conditions. What
(03:13):
these horse are gonna be looking like right now, don't
be a race day program there. Good, It's like the
n c A tournament, all right. I don't really pay
too much attention until the actual start of the tournament
on that Thursday, and then I go through in a
bang bang bang bang bang. Make some picks and I'm
ready to rock. I will win some races and make
some picks there at the track, and I'm gonna win.
(03:33):
I'm telling you that right now, I feel that good
and that confident about what's happening. It's going down all right.
So we will we will keep you posted as to
the shenanigans that we planned to partake in when it
comes to the Breeder's Cup, and we'll give out some
more information on how you can hang out and and
and be a part of the Breeder's Cup and take
it all in because it's a big event coming up
(03:55):
tomorrow and also Saturday. But we're at about the halfway
point of the NFL season. This used to be easy.
In between weeks eight and nine. You know, you would
just go like, all right, a sixteen game season, here
we go, let's make it. Then the NFL has got
to go ahead and throw in an extra game and
it throws all the math out. But we figured screw
it all right, We're at the halfway point of the
(04:15):
NFL season and we are responsible for some picks on
this show that maybe didn't go the right way. So
how many teams just before we go? I mean, because
do we want to go a f C NFC or
do we want to go just take turns? Like? How
many do you want to rattle off? Because we can.
I've probably got like ten teams. I could. I also
have ten teams, which is funny. I wonder how many
(04:37):
of the same. Um, let's go a f C NFC.
We can kind of break it down, which I like
mine or five and five. So I just kind of
worked out that way. Yeah, I'm ac since I think
we both believe the Bills the Chiefs are probably the best.
We thought that was going to be the case coming
into the season. Um, but then after that, that's where
it it's pretty curious, all right, So let's take it away.
(04:59):
We've got the perfect theme music here. Because a lot
of people don't want to be held accountable for their
poor picking before the season in the NFL. On this show,
we hold ourselves accountable. It's self accountability here. This is
what we're all about. So, Brady Quinn, you've taken away
a FC teams. You completely whipped on neither worth the
halfway point of the season, I will start off by
the Indianapolis Colts. Yes, I was one of those people
(05:20):
who thought, hey, Matt Ryan's there. I think with that
offensive line, the way they can run the football, with
Jonathan Taylor and a defense, a young, budding defense, they
should be a contention for the a f C South.
You know, they should be a contention for a playoff spot.
I was dead wrong. Matt Ryan's been benched. Their offensive
coordinator Marcus Brady, who doesn't even call plays, has been fired.
(05:44):
The offensive line play has been atrocious at times, even
though they have settled on a group and they've improved.
There is no running game with Jonathan Taylor, at least
not what it has been in the past, already traded
away nahem Hinz. The defense has been a shell of itself.
So also off of the Colts. I was dead wrong.
Maybe I should be holding the bottle of Jack Daniel's
(06:05):
leading up against a tree, much like at their owner cheese.
I will also go with the Indianapolis Colts. I had
them to win the division. I thought this was a
runaway slam dunk. I thought, man for sure, Indianapolis, they
finally gonna get some stability. Jim Mercy actually likes a
quarterback that he's brought in, Unlike Carson Wentz. You had
a lot of players at the Pro Bowl last year
(06:26):
who were sitting around, going, why are we here? I
think they had like seven or eight players at the
Pro Bowl last year. I mean, this is this is
a loaded roster. The mass murder on the offensive line,
that is Quentin Nelson, one of my favorite players in
the league. And yet here we are. They're a bad
football team. It looks like they're getting ready for a
rebuild or potentially a coaching change. I'm also gonna go
(06:47):
with the Indianapolis Colts completely whipped on them all right.
Next up the New York Jets. Yeah, if they win
another game this entire season, I'd be wrong. I thought
they were only gonna win five games the entire year.
Everyone seems the thing. I thought that you go oh
and nine. I didn't you Jet Jets fans, who are idiots.
I said they wouldn't be favored in the first nine,
(07:08):
and in fact, they haven't been the only time they
were favorites when they actually decided that it wasn't gonna
be Russell Wilson, it would be Bret Rippon. So yes,
they were favored for that game, but not until that
news was announced. So that was the conversation. But I'll
say this much, they're starting to round into form. I mean,
based on what I saw, what I thought might happen.
It seems like it's all coming to fruition. However, quote
(07:29):
and Williams is playing at I would say defensive player
of the year level. Sauce Carter has been as advertised
and awesome in the outside Gary Wilson. They're the first
round pick and wide receiver. He's been Studley Breece Hall
until the injury. You can make the case for him
being up there for Offensive Rookie of the Year. That's
now not gonna be, uh, you know, the case going forward.
But this is a group that they've been battled by injuries.
(07:52):
They've overcome some of that. They've won five games, which
has met the mark that I thought they would be
pretty much for the entire season. And so I was
wrong about the Jets that they think they're gonna win
a couple more games. I'm gonna go to Pittsburgh Steelers.
All right, I'm gonna go with the Pittsburgh Steelers the
four one too. This was my thought going into the season.
Ben Roethlisberger has been a shell of himself the past
(08:14):
couple of years. Anybody that's watched the Steelers knows that.
And I thought, Okay, we know Kenny Pickett's going to
get the job eventually, but at least Mitch Rabinski is
going to provide them some mobility and an aspect to
the passing game and you know, part of the running
game as well too, that the Steelers haven't had because
with that offensive line that is going through a lot
that isn't this, you know, a shell of themselves over
(08:37):
the past few seasons that we've seen those great offensive
lines that they've had before. I thought, at least they're
gonna have a mobile quarterback that's gonna be able to
extend plays and they're gonna be fine. I was completely wrong.
They are worse than I thought. I completely misread this team.
And if you actually go back to the beginning of
the season, that game in which Pittsburgh won and they
(09:00):
one in overtime against Cincinnati, where you had Boswell and
you had McPherson missing kicks and it went into overtime.
Other than that, we're looking at a one in seven
football team. I was completely wrong about Pittsburgh. It is
Kenny Pickt time. I just told he survives the season.
He's already been knocked out with the concussion in one game.
And thus of Pittsburgh Steelers, I was dead wrong on
(09:21):
how about the the old Denver Broncos. I mean, gosh,
the addition of Russell Wilson. I thought, with that ross
where the defense has looked, was gonna be a perfect fit.
Nathaniel Hackett, who runs a West Coast system. It's something
that Russell Wilson's familiar with that he had run some
West Coast earlier during his time in Seattle. I thought
this team would be in contention for a playoff spot.
(09:42):
Didn't think they'd beat the Chiefs necessarily for the division.
I always thought it was gonna be the Chiefs, But
the Broncos were a team that I thought with Russell Wilson,
it was the last piece vic Fango kept talking about.
They needed a quarterback. They got their quarterback. They would
get over the hump. Now they find themselves at three
and five, Yes, after a win over the Axtell Jaguars
in London, and maybe things are looking up for this offense.
(10:03):
But it's hard to think things are looking up for
the defense. You just gave up your best player in
Bradley Chubb on that side of the football to the
Miami Dolphins. So I was wrong about the Denver Broncos.
I don't think they're gonna end up making it as
a playoff team, not even sure they're gonna make it
as a winning team this this season, all right, So
I'll stick in the same division. The l A Chargers.
I apologize, UH completely lost here. I I I believe
(10:25):
they were my super Bowl pick, and I when I
say I believe, I know they were my super Bowl pick.
I just was hoping that nobody else heard it at
the time. And thus the l A Chargers I've been
completely wrong on. I thought, man, there's no way they're
going to go through the injury issues they've had for
yet another season. Completely wrong on that. I thought Justin
Herbert's gonna take the next step and he's gonna be
(10:47):
a superstar in this league. I I think I might
be right down the road, but as far as this
season goes, Justin Herbert hasn't been all that impressive. Their
one dimensional. They don't run the football. I think I
saw stat her words throwing the ball forty four times
a game, which is by far and away the most
in the NFL. Austin Ekeler has been relegated to a
pass catching running back. It just feels like we're headed
(11:11):
towards the direction of maybe there's questions about Brandon Staley
and his job security after the season. Coming into the year,
they made all those moves on defense, you felt like
you upgraded in several areas. Yet here we are. I
completely blew up with my Chargers. Pick how about this,
I'm gonna go ahead and throw out. By the way,
I also had the Charges is one of the teams
that I blew um just not understanding that maybe they
(11:33):
need a little bit more than than just the ability
for Justin Herbert to stress the field vertically, which they're
not even doing anymore, by the way, Um, Since then,
the Bengals, Yeah, that was the team I thought would
actually ran some frame when the a f C North.
Maybe they'll still be able to come back from that,
but it has not looked good. Obviously. Joe Burrow dealing
with the appendeck tomy in training camp let into a
(11:54):
slow start, then they started to get things going again
and then uh, this past Monday night getting blown out
by the Cleveland Browns. No Jamaar Chase. That clearly is
going to hurt this offense and their production. The defense.
They haven't taken the Strada thought they would, which is
really probably the side of the football that that needs
to pick up the slack. But bottom line is the
Bengals are a team that we're playing the super Bowl
(12:15):
last year and now I feel like maybe they are
going to have a bit of a hangover. Yeah. My
last a f C team is the Patriots. I think
I I fell for the Belichick is going to figure
this out one way or the other. And you can
look at them and say, well, they're five hundred, they're
still you know, competitive, they could you know, potentially be
a wild card team. Let's be honest here, this Patriots
(12:37):
team doesn't look anything close to the Patriots team even
from a year ago where you had Mac Jones getting
them to the playoffs. You've got this fake quarterback controversy,
that was stirred up. You've got fans that are cheering
for Bailey Zappi all of a sudden, this is a
rookie quarterback from Western Kentucky after Mac Jones took you
to a playoff game a year ago. It just the
(12:58):
whole thing feels odd. The coordinator situation going into the season,
Belichick not wanting to talk about certain things at press conferences.
We've seen that before, but it feels like he's a
little bit more of you know, he's got more P
and V in his blood this time around. I don't know.
I just feel like this has headed towards the path
of the Patriots maybe in the market for a quarterback
(13:19):
moving forward if they don't buy into Mac Jones, and
who knows, maybe maybe the end is near when it
comes to Bill Belichick and his time as head coach
of the Patriots. Wow, Okay, I'm not going that far
now because I'm done. I'm done with my FC. Tam,
do you want let's I'll tell you, let's save the
NFC for next hour, because we do need to get
to somebody in the NFL world who's got some strong
(13:40):
thoughts on a on a on a head coach in
the league. All right, So that's somebody's going to be
joining us here on Fox Sports Fox Sports Radio shortly.
It is two Pros and the Cup of Joe here
on fs ARE. By the way, we mentioned this earlier,
the Breeders Cup World Championships are coming to Iconic Keenlan.
That's tomorrow and Saturday, November four and fifth. Don't miss
the world's best thoroughbreds race for their share of thirty
(14:01):
one million dollars in persons and awards. Visit Breeders Cup
dot com to watch all the action again live November
fourth and fifth. That's tomorrow and Saturday. All right, So
it is two Pros and a Cup of Joe here
on fs are coming up next though somebody has made
a statement, all right. They believe that a Super Bowl
winning head coach maybe retiring sooner rather than later. We'll
(14:27):
tell you who that is next here on fs ARE.
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LaVar Arrington and
Jonas Knocks week days at six am Eastern three am
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio app.
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe Fox Sports Radio
Brady Quinn Jonas knocks are the here on fs are.
(14:49):
You can hang out with us as always on the
I Heart Radio app. By the way, any first responder
will tell you never try to beat a train. After breaking.
You can take a mile for a train and completely
stop so when you come to a rail crossing stop
because trains can't. Uh. We do have some news out
of the NFL. This just came down a few moments ago.
According to Tom Pellicero and some others, the Dolphins and
(15:10):
new linebacker Bradley Chubb. They've agreed to a five year,
one nineteen million dollar contract extension, sixty three point two
million dollars guaranteed. So that was the expectation that you
know they're going to trade away the first round pick.
We were talking about it yesterday. You're not giving up
a first for a guy that you don't think you're
gonna be able to sign. And they turn around and
(15:30):
get it done. There. So another addition to the to
the Miami Dolphins, fins up, baby, fins up, Fiens to
the left, Fiens to the rack, sir um, I mean, look,
he's he's had uh one one Pro Bowl year. I
think in his career, the smart he's battled some injuries.
He is off to his best year of his career
outside of his his rookie year, which was uh, pretty
(15:54):
solid year. I think you had a what twelve sacks
and sting like that twelve and a a half. But you know,
I'll be curious to see the language of the track
if there's anything that you know, excludes him from making
some of that some of those money's you know, depending
on if he gets hurt. But good player. Um, I
think he's gonna help out a Dolphins pass for us.
That's you know, a time struggle this year to get
after opposing quarterbacks without having the dial up pressure. But
(16:16):
good for him, I mean, by the way, good for
the Dolphins and being aggressive making this move. Playing in
an extremely competitive a f C East. I think that's
the only way you can really look at that division
right now. Yeah, congratulations, Bradley Chubb gets the deal done again.
Five years, hundred nineteen dollars sixty three million guaranteed. So
a f C standings right now obviously, you know, as
(16:39):
we're looking at the Bills sit the top, the Jets
and Dolphins are tied each at five and three. I
believe the Jets currently hold the tiebreaker though, and then
the Patriots at four and four, but pretty solid, like
no team is below five in that division. How does
it play out in your mind? Is it more of
the same the Bills lead. How does the shuffling happen
the rest of the way? Considering I think, and I
(17:03):
could be wrong. Off the look in this more there's
only been a couple of divisional games played amongst all
four teams. I'm gonna go, well, the Bills, Bills are
gonna win the division, the Dolphins are two, There'll be
a wild card team. The Jets are going to go
through a just horrific collapse late in the season, and
then the Patriots are going to overtake the Jets for
the third spot, but Miami and Buffalo come out of
(17:23):
there to go to the playoffs? Do the crazy thing
is about the Patriots is as bad as they've looked
and and QB controversy whatever you wanna call it. There
four and four, like they easily can end up being
a nine and eight football team when it's all said
and done. The rest of the way, Yeah, it's that'll
be that'll be fun that the NFC East. Both East
look pretty good there in the NFL. Al right, it
(17:45):
is a two pros and a cup of joe here
on fs are coming up. In about twenty minutes from now,
we're going to hear from somebody in the NFL who
was a little bit surprised about a deal done at
the trade deadline. So that'll be yours here again from
the entire act dot Com studios right now. We turn
it over to Albert Brier, senior NFL reporter at the episode.
Get him on Twitter at Albert Brier. I'll always appreciate
(18:06):
your time wheeling and dealing. Are the Miami Dolphins and
Bradley Chubb on that five year deal? Yeah, you know it's. Um,
I think it's an interesting signal for Miami to its
locker room and you know, just how in they are
in the group of players they have right now, and UM,
you know I I sort of like, look at where
they are and it's it's taking advantage of the window
(18:29):
you have while you've got a quarterback on a rookie contract,
and um, you know I I think it's also a
validation that they believe, you know, what they've seen over
the first half of the season is very real in
the times now. So UM, imagine for guys like Tyreek
Kill and to a tongue of balowah, and you know,
defensive side guys like David Howard. Um, it's a nice
(18:50):
jolt of energy going into week nine. There's no doubt
about it. But I guess I'll ask you this, did
you think I mean, just with everything you had heard
and talked about, Um, for the other side of that
trade for Miami Dolphins trade, Where're getting Bradley Shubb on
one side? What is that signaling with Denver? Because I'm
looking at him and and I think the question was asked,
(19:10):
you know, if there were five and three are they
making that trade? And I think Mike Cliffs, who follows
the team out there, said said no, they're probably not.
And I'm going, all right, well, there are three and five.
You're not that far out of in the FC West
right now, Like, how do you view that that side
of that trade? I mean, Brady, I think it's well, hey,
it's an acknowledgement that they probably weren't getting a long
term contract done. And you know, my understanding is they
(19:32):
didn't get very far in talks, So that tells me
that the team viewed his value in one place and
the player viewed his value in another place. Now, this
isn't like this isn't a deal like Nick bos is
gonna get or the deal that t. J. Watt got,
you know, Um, it's not that. So you know, clearly
Denver thought this wasn't a guy who can build a
(19:55):
defense around. Right, So that's one piece of it. But
you're right, like the second piece of it is death
only if you know right now you're five and three
or six and two, you're not offloading a piece like this,
you know. And so I think it's you know, maybe
an acknowledgement going the other way. Um for for Denver
here and that you know, we thought we were closer
(20:16):
than we are. It's gonna take longer to get Russell
Wilson acclimated to what we want to do than we thought. Um,
you know, I think all of those things are sort
of in play here. Um, it hasn't looked great on offense.
That the interesting part about it is their defense has
been really good, you know, and this is sort of
taking a chunk out of that. So, um, I think
(20:36):
it puts another challenge on the player. Nathaniel Hackett and
his staff, you know, as they try to keep that
team engaged and and coming off what I think was
a pretty significant win going into their by Albert Brier
joining us here on Fox Sports Radio. You can get
them on Twitter at Albert Brier, Senior NFL reporter at
the MMQB. All right, so I want to ask you
this because you were talking about Sean mcveigh's future and
(20:59):
that it made tied into a couple of things that
are currently going on with the roster. What can you
tell us? Yeah, that thing's fun, a little out of control.
To be honest with you, I don't know if I mean,
I don't know, And I felt horrible because you know,
obviously it's a tough time first family. I I honestly
like I've been saying that for four months. Um, you know,
I did a story with him in in the summer,
(21:20):
and you know, it's been my feeling for a while
that that really like his future sort of tied to
the futures of like a small core there that they
feel like it's a really special core players and Matthew
Stafford and Cooper Cup and um, you know, and and
and and Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey and like that,
I felt like, you know, like Sean shelf life with
(21:44):
Los Angeles is um tied to the shelf life of
those four players, and once that core has gone, he's
probably gonna be taking a break too. And I've answered
that question the same way for four months for some reason,
you know, I say it on Rich Eyes and Show
Yes Today and Dan Patrick's show because it came up
in relation to the trade deadline, like why would the
(22:04):
Rams make a monster offer for Brian Burns And then
you know, a couple of like the robots, Uster or
whatever pick it up in all the hell breaks loose.
So I mean it's not new news. It's something I've
been saying for a while now. Um, but it did
spin a little out of control. But I mean, look
like that's the way I see it, you know what
I mean, Like, that's that's sort of um, you know,
(22:26):
just I guess my informed opinion on on the way
this is gonna go. And um, you know, I really
do think that you know, those five guys mcdieh and
the four players are are very much tied together, and um, gone,
there's a good So I guess I'll follow up ask
(22:47):
you this, Albert, like, what's the shelf life? I mean,
do you think after this season, after next season, he
could get burnt out and say, all right, maybe I'll
go back that TV offer. Yeah. I mean I think
like I would say somewhere in the next five years, Um,
I'd say, I mean it could be one or two years,
it could be five, you know. I I really think
(23:08):
like they're I mean, look like I mean, he works
his ass off and still you know what I mean,
like even with the championship and everything that's come with it,
Like he runs at a hundred miles an hour, and
I think he's worked really hard to kind of pace
himself and um and kind of pride to you know,
give himself some balance in his life. But I think
(23:29):
there's that part of him that doesn't have an off switch,
you know. And I mean, look like television for a
guy like that, I mean we're talking million dollars a year,
you know, the the chance to do that and um
and and and take your foot off the accelerator for
a couple of years, and you know, maybe a startin
a family who knows, you know, like that that sort
of stuff couldn't could be enticing you know, and so
(23:51):
I think it will come to that point where you know,
he wants to take a break and reset. And I mean, god,
can you imagine the bidding war if he took a
couple of years off and then be back. I mean,
that's the thing about it, guys. You know what I
mean like is you know he's in it, and I
know he loves that group of players that he has,
that that core group. He loves those guys. Um, you know,
(24:14):
but once those guys are gone, like you can understand
where like it would be very enticing the idea of hey,
I'm gonna take a little break, I'm gonna go into TV. Um,
you know, I'm gonna like kind of focus on my wife,
my family and everything else, you know, and then a
couple of years down the line, there's gonna be an
absolute bidding war for my services. I'm gonna be able
(24:36):
to pick my spot, I'm gonna be able to pick
who comes with me, all that different stuff. You can
see why that would be very very attractive. Albert brier
with us here on Fox Sports Radio again. Get him
on Twitter at Albert brier Um. Was there a move
or I'll just ask this the move at the trade deadline.
That surprised you the most that he didn't see happening. Uh,
(24:59):
I mean, Chubb, I saw coming. I think everybody sat
up coming to some degree. Um, you know, I'm just
trying to think what was really like if there was
a stunner. I don't know, Calvin Ridley, Yeah, Calvin Ridley
would be the one. Calvin Ridley would be the ones
just because I do think that one. There's so many
(25:20):
conditions on that trade, and I don't know how closely
you guys look at the comp there, but it was
a pick this year that could be a five or six,
and there's a pick next year in twenty four, I
mean four that could be a two or three or four,
and Ridley would be the one that I just I
figured they'd probably wait till the off season to move him. Um. Now,
(25:44):
I can understand why Jacksonville did this because I think
the guy he's twenty nine years old, so he's not
that young, but I think he flashed where like he
could be a number one receiver, and you're giving Trevor
Lawrence like that sort of weapon. Um, you know, makes
sense to me and why you want to maybe get
it done now so you can come up with the
plan and hit the ground running, assuming he's reinstated after
(26:08):
the season ends. But yeah, I would say, like my
expectation was Ridley would eventually be moved and he wouldn't
be on the Falcons roster. I just I would have
thought it would have probably happened in March rather than
in October. And can let me just ask you real quick, um,
because I don't know where I saw this, But is
it true that also part of the conditional second pick
that the Jags got or that the Atlanta Falcons got,
(26:30):
would turn into a first round pick if Calvin Ridley
hit on his next seven team parlay? Is that true?
Or is that is that just part of the speculation
I saw out there? You're gonna, I mean, is just
tying into some of those imaginary numbers every week? Well,
we'll get to that. I mean, look, you know how
he finished this off every week. I'm just just curious
how this works. Yeah, yeah, I I I would say
(26:51):
that Calvin Ridley is gonna have to stay out of
those sorts of establishments for a little while. Too bad.
There's not a concern of him being reinstated, right, Like
he's going to be reinstated after the season, it would appear. Yeah.
I mean it's one of those things where you where, um,
you know, I think it's similar to like a drug dispension,
you know, like where it's like you get a number
(27:13):
of games and then it's you have to complete X,
Y and Z, and I'm like, there there's counseling involved
in all that sort of stuff, right like, where as
long as you complete X, Y and Z and you've
kept yourself away from certain things, um, you're you're going
to be reinstated. So yes, I would say, you know,
(27:34):
it's it's very similar to a drug suspension that way.
And my my, my feeling is that he probably he's
probably gonna be reinstated without I want to go back
to l A for a second though, only because what
the hell is happening with Cam thank you? I mean,
what happened? Why was there any disgruntled like what is
going on there? You know? I think that there's a
(27:58):
couple of things at work there. It's well not number one,
like he hustled back from the injury last year and
I think, by all accounts look better than anybody thought
he would. Early in the playoffs at least maybe not
we got later in the playoffs, but that Arizona game
looked really good. Coming back from an achilles in season
is tough. Um. I think that there was like an
issue over the summer justin maybe how he was seeing
(28:20):
it and um like how his performance um wasn't matching
his potential and I think they pushed him a little bit,
and like it just feels to me like things got
sideways a little bit there. UM. I think one of
the things that's sort of interesting about cam Akers that
plays into all this is and you never you almost
(28:41):
never hear running back her like like called raw. But
you know if you talk to the RAMS people and
even people come when he was coming out of Florida State, UM,
that would had scattered him. They tell you he was
sort of raw as a running back because I believe
he was a quarterback in high school, right, and so
like his vision had to come along and how he
saw the whole and how quickly he hit the whole.
(29:03):
He had developed that stuff even coming into the NFL,
even after playing the position at Florida State, and you know,
like I think that was still sort of a that's
still sort of been a problem with them, and that's
been something that they've coached him hard on. And I
think like some of that stuff, um when he's coming
back off the Achilles and trying to become the workhorse
(29:23):
guy again was part of the issue. And then you know,
I think playing time comes into it as a result
of all that. Albert Brier last one for you before
we let you go here. You can obviously get him
on Twitter at Albert Brier. So I was just you know,
kind of crunching the numbers here a little bit, and
I was looking ahead to just kind of picked a
random football game through a darted a board in Ohio State,
(29:46):
you know, Ohio State. Northwestern came up, and I was
just curious, Albert, just in your opinion is, as somebody
who was in a lumb of Ohio State, do you
believe that they'll be thirty eight and a half points
better than Northwestern this weekend? Well as you seeing like
Ryan Day is a great sportsman, so he takes starters
out later in the game, So I think that that
(30:07):
number like they could exceed that number like through three quarters,
saying I don't know if their imaginary numbers tied to
that or even in the half they may get over
whatever imaginary number you might have for that. There might
be a little bit more because the great sportsmanship of
my university. Do you think it's that or Albert? What
(30:27):
about back to back weeks on the road. And then also,
let's not forget it's in Evanston and in today that
is a we actually guess other other things going on. Um,
but it is eleven and am local kick. That's a
pretty early start for the buck Eyes. And that's a
(30:47):
sleepy environment there at Ryan Field. Oh yeah, I'm just saying,
but it is. But you know what, I went to
Ohio State Northwestern I think it s yeah, I went.
I I went with a bunch of my buddies. We
did a Chicago trip, so I want with my bunch
of my buddies to that. And I'm telling you, like Brady,
(31:08):
it's a sleepy environment normally. But when Ohio States, I mean,
it was like a home game, like literally a home game.
So I would assume that this place is gonna be
probably pretty cho step with the amount of people that
went to Ohio State who live in Chicago. How do
you feel about the current college football rankings. I know
it's a little outside of run but Ohio States. So
(31:31):
I mean, I honestly, I I I guess it doesn't
really matter, but I think, like the I I'm not sure,
I'm not sure George is getting enough respect guys Like
I don't know, they won the national championship last year
and they haven't lost yet, and they've been impressed in spots. Now,
I know they haven't been perfect, but I just sometimes
(31:54):
I wonder, like a school like that, or like Ohio
State a few years ago in when when when Ohio
State was really good, you know, with with with Fields
and Chase Young and out and all those guys. Like
sometimes I feel like Alabama gets a certain level of
respect that other schools don't. And maybe that's not true
this year, but like, doesn't Georgia deserve a little benefit
(32:17):
of the doubt for having won the championship last year?
I don't know, Am I wrong to think that way? Well?
And also the Oregon win looks better and better each week?
When I mean it's it's I mean, it just seems
like these rankings have I guess it's just like it's
a recency bias almost to like the last couple of weeks,
(32:37):
you know what I mean, Like Yeah, Tennessee looked great
against Kentucky, But on balance, is their resume that much
better than Georgia's. I don't know, you know, like I,
And and then you know, like I, there's the whole
thing which I think track record over the years does matter,
you know, and Georgia Georgie. I think Georgia is gonna
(32:59):
beat ten to See this weekend. And it's probably because
George has been good longer than Tennessee. But I do
think that that counts for something, right, Like I think
that there's a credibility thing that you get from having
established yourself over the years, and I it just feels
to me for some reason like George is not getting that.
Am I wrong? Brady? You follow this stuff closer than
I do, so I don't know if I'm wrong about
(33:19):
that or not. But no, I mean, look, I think
Tennessee has the best win of the season, and that's
what ultimately they're looking at saying, you know, they went
and beat Bama, who at the time I believe was
what one or two whatever they had him ranked out
of the people, But that was the best win and
so they're giving them credit for that. But look, at
some point our show. We have more time. I'm gonna
(33:40):
break this down a little bit of Jonas lets me
because I think there's a conspiracy theory behind us. I'll
just I'll put it out there. Who's her number one? Um?
Right now? I think I had Ohio State and I
had Tennessee it too. O god, O god. I mean,
obviously it'll all work itself out like level one's a
Big ten is going or every one is the SEC
(34:02):
is going. So that's why I when I say it
doesn't matter, I mean maybe maybe it matter. Maybe maybe
you know what it matters. It probably matters as far
as getting a second Big ten team or a team, right,
that's probably why it matters. That's why. Yeah. Now listen,

(36:10):
All right, so let's pipe in the conspiracy theory music. Here.
We've got Robert Stack and a trench coat waiting to
hear Brady Quinn wax poetically on the college football playoff rankings.
I'll start off by saying this, Jonas, who controls the
college football Playoff? Who airs it? ESPN? That's right? Who
(36:31):
also has put together this college Football Playoff committee? ESPN?
That's right, they also air that show. And what conference
of all the conference of the Power five, does ESPN
have exclusive rights to a network for you know, maybe
some a team that's ranked number one right now SEC
that's right, and they'd be ESPN again. And so if
(36:53):
you look at the current rankings, the fact that you
have Tennessee at number one, George at number three, an
Ali Obama at number six. The College Football Playoff Committee
just told you if the SEC holds up to their
end of the bargain, meaning if Alabama wins out and
goes to the SEC Championship game as a one lost team,
(37:16):
if Tennessee and Georgia whoever is the loser of this
week's matchup, if both those teams go on to win
out and the loser wins out, and obviously you're gonna
have a potential undefeated Georgia undefeated Tennessee in the SEC
Championship game. There is no doubt the SEC gets two
teams in. The College Football Playoff Committee has already told
(37:39):
you that, look at the possibilities and look at the rankings.
I mean, in this scenario, you're gonna have a one
lost Georgia or Tennessee team that doesn't go to the
SEC Championship. The winner of this week's game will go
most likely as an undefeated team. And even if they
lose to Obama and Obama wins the SEC, you're to
(38:00):
have your pick to a one loss non division, non
conference champ in Tennessee or Georgia. They either lost in
the SEC championship game or lost this week, but that's it,
and that SEC champ of Bama wins it. So think
about that. No matter what, you're gonna have three teams
in the mix for two of those four spots in
my opinion, and whether it's Tennessee or Georgia sitting at one.
(38:23):
If Bama beat him, Bama jumps into the top four
and then you get to see how they finagle the
matchups because you know what they want. They don't want
to turn around and have that rematch the very next
week like last year, so they're there's between. Yeah you
know how that would work with the college football playoff? Yeah,
I I'm into it. They listen. Yeah, They've only got
this four team playoff for a limited number of years,
(38:43):
so they gotta take full advantage of this, right, I mean,
that's the way this works. So Fox Sports Radio has
