Speaker 2 (00:27):
Give this you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Hell yeah, this is a slightly awkward not our song,
and boy this really.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Yeah, but you can't you can't talk, Come on, gotta
let it play out.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
I've still ever seen this movie.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
I'm never gonna see this movie. Yes, I got news
for you. If it's Thirteenth Warrior. If this is the
preview to the movie, I'm good. If the music is this,
I can't even imagine what the actual movie's like. But

(01:06):
it's interesting. Why's that because there's only two Warriors today?
Why's that because var ain't here?

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Why's that?

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Well? Who knows? It is a It is a mystery
here on Two Pros and a Cup of Joe, But
it is very very interesting considering what went down yesterday. Uh, Brie,
you do have the a quick edit for so a
little bit of a backstory here, just so this makes sense.
LeVar was giving Lee and Lorraine a hard time yesterday

(01:39):
because they are both off today and they are both
in Vancouver because they are going with Coop and are
going to be a part of the Ben mallor meet
and greet up there and to hang out with the listeners,
and so you know, Lee wanted to be a part
of that. A little weird, but hey, is what it is.

(02:01):
He wanted to do. He wanted to take off our
show and go be a part of that with them
all good. He had vacation days, not a big deal
at all. LeVar called him out on the air and
it sounded like this.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Yesterday, I have graduation today, right, I've had a very
very busy week. The twins are graduating high school today, right.
And I really was going to take off tomorrow, Like
I was going to take the show off tomorrow going
to I was going to. But now I think to myself, like,
I'm not gonna let you outwork me. I'm not gonna

(02:34):
let Jonas Knox outwork me. So I'm going to come
in and work tomorrow. And I see Loraina in the
hallway and I asked, Lorena, you know how you doing?
What's going on this weekend? She's out of town this weekend?
Oh great, that's great, perfect, Go, I have a great time.
How are you leaving us tomorrow? You can't, you can't
do the show? And then go, that's what I'm saying.

(02:54):
So you're leaving today, You're randomly off tomorrow. You're standing
on that.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
I am off tomorrow. No, No, that's not what I
asked you.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
I asked you, are.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
You randomly off tomorrow the same day as Lorna?

Speaker 2 (03:08):
I don't know what that means, but yes, I am
off tomorrow. And if it turns out, so is LeVar.
After all, after all that, and by the way, we
saved you, because that was the the abbreviated version of
it all. Job well done by Brie, But it was
a long interrogation and.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Entire segment you literally spend entire segment chastising Lee for
choosing to go to Vancouver, which, from all accounts cool
place to go visit if you get an opportunity to go,
and why not? And I have no problem with it.
But for the record, I don't have a problem with
LeVar being off today. You can't be a gigantic hypocrite

(03:50):
and then be saying, yeah, you don't want to be
out worked barely, you didn't mind that now, and you
can't chastise some what else we're taking a day off
that you want to take off too. Just go. It's
not a bit deal.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
It was uh, it was very very interesting, uh to
find out how this whole thing played out. I mean, look,
hopefully he's in Vancouver too, like that would make the
story even even better. But but nonetheless, I know LeVar
to be Brady Quinn and I taken you all the
way up until nine am Eastern times, six o'clock Pacific,
and look, you know, we were pointing out that it

(04:20):
is a football Friday here on the show, as much
as we talked about the the Pacers and the Nicks
and what happened last night and New York survives and
they're onto another game six in Indiana. Uh, we did
get some news yesterday, though it did become official yesterday
if people were wondering, so what the hell are we
going to do? The first couple of weeks of the

(04:41):
college football season. Oh, don't worry, We've got the answer
just for you, because ladies and gentlemen, we now know
the first three weeks the Big Noon Kickoff schedule has
at least the first three weeks and the last game
of the season. Yeah, of course, and uh and the

(05:03):
Mountain West Championship game as well too. I saw that's right, championship.
So when when when Hawaii goes to the Mountain West
Championship game? It should be should be a fun time.
Week one, August thirtieth, a blockbuster Texas at Ohio State
in Columbus at the Horseshoe, the defending national champions against

(05:28):
the Texas Longhorns. Should be a fun ride there. Week
two the Sihawk. We've got Iowa at Iowa State in Ames,
that's September sixth. Week three you go to Evanston, Oregon
at Northwestern on September thirteenth. The first three weeks of

(05:49):
the college football schedule have been set as far as
the Big Noon Kickoff goes. And my big question is
will the fans in Ames and Evanston both bitch about
the star time considering it is even an hour earlier
than the fans in Columbus and certain politicians have been
complaining about when it comes to Ohio State. I'm just wondering,

(06:10):
are the star times going to be a problem again
for people?

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Absolutely not. The other game obviously that's marked on the
schedule that is guaranteed is Ohio State at Michigan playing
up in ann Arbor. We'll see if they can break through,
but that game traditionally has been and most likely will
be at noon noonkick. You do bring up a good point.
There's been a lot of people, in particular Ohio State fans,

(06:33):
even some Penn State fans who've been frustrated with the
star times for games. Just want't people to understand when
when Ohio State Texas, which was originally announced as a
Fox game, that game, the time was not announced, and
there's a reason for that. They didn't announce until yesterday
because Ohio State and Texas, we all know how monumental

(06:56):
of a game this is. I mean, just to put
into perspective, as a team who's the defending national champion
hosting arguably the toughest maybe best opponent of their entire schedule,
and every TV network's very cognizant of how important that
game is and so there was a lot of effort
to put it into primetime. This isn't like me just

(07:17):
trying to posture for Fox or anything, because I'll remind
people our pregame show for Fox has zero to do
with the start time of games. I know, because we
show up there people think that, But we did five
different games last year that were not noon kicks. We
were at a completely different property for a three point

(07:40):
thirty or a four o'clock kick in a completely different
part of the country. And we've been two primetime games
before where we've been there in the morning, four games
that weren't until night. So I will reiterate we have
zero to do with the start times of games. This
is how it worked out the Big ten media rights deal,

(08:02):
which Fox has handsomely paid two billion dollars to the
Big Ten four. It's one of the reasons why the
Big Ten conference makes the most of any of the
Power four conferences from their TV media rights deal. And
then obviously CBS and NBC are part of that. There's
a structured agreement. Fox is at noon, CBS is at
three thirty, NBC's in primetime. In order to move a

(08:23):
game that you have selected to a primetime spot, you
have to work with that network to move it. So
if I was to say to you hypothetically speaking, there
was a conversation with NBC and they asked, hey, can
we move this game to primetime? What do you think?
NBC said Jays. The game then was talked about with
Texas O House State to be played on Sunday. We're like, hey,

(08:45):
would you be able to want to play this game
on Sunday? So the thirty first, not the thirtieth on
Sunday in primetime. Ohio State was for it, Texas said no,
which has come out in about a week or so ago.
That sorted to leak out. So I know there's people
who are frustrated with the start time of the game.
Every effort was made to put this game in primetime.

(09:06):
As a former player and now working in this job,
it doesn't make any difference to me whether the game's
at noon or whether it's in primetime. And I understand
the atmosphere and primetime is what it is for fans
and players. I get that, like we want it to
be in primetime, we do, but the reality is, per

(09:27):
the Big Ten Media Rightes Agreement and per the University
of Texas who didn't want to delay it another day.
The game couldn't be moved, so there's nothing that we
can do about that. So Ohio State fans can be
upset about it. Go talk to your university, Go talk
to the Big Ten conference. This is the deal that
Kevin Warren signed before he left and went to the
Chicago Bears. So there's a lot of other people who

(09:50):
are basically pointing the finger. You'd have taken responsibility into
all this. So that's the tough part about the start
time for Texas and Ohio State. We'll still be excited
to be there. It's a huge game that doesn't change
anything for us.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
So they had options and this could have been placed elsewhere.
So the idea that you guys are catching the flak
is you're catching the flack for somebody else's ultimately somebody
else's decision.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Sort of. I mean there's options, but their options are
limited because we have to have again the agreement from
any game you want to move, whether it's CBS or
NBC into those windows, you have to get that network
to clear off on it. Because that's part of how
the media rights deal with structured for the Big Ten
it's different for the SEC. It's just Disney owns that,
so they can basically place and put whatever teams they want,

(10:38):
whatever windows they want because they're controlling all of it
between ABC and ESPN. I guess, so it's an entirely
different structure because you're not working within your own network.
You're working with the other networks. You're competing with, right,
You're competing with those networks for advertised dollars. Again, there's
a reason why the Big ten gets two billion a year.

(10:59):
It's because of largely what Fox has built with this
new window, which until last year was the most watched
window in college football. Yeah, and so that means that
you get more advertising dollars. That means that TV network
can pay you more money for the rights to those games.
So everything else that goes into our athletics program, they're

(11:20):
getting paid more from Fox and CBS and NBC then
you're seeing from Disney to the SEC.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
I guess. The part that I still have a hard
time understanding when it comes to the complaining is it's
not like it's no man's land. Like we're not talking
about you know, PAC twelve after dark. We're not talking
about Oh, it's you know, Hawaii's playing at eleven fifty
nine pm Eastern time. We're not talking about the Latin

(11:50):
you're it's literally it's a giant window. It's a giant audience.
The numbers have proven so, and yet they're still complaining, Well,
you don't want to have kickoffs at early, okay, so
what do you do? You want to move all the
way back so you have it so you can get
a bunch of stuff done during the day and then
you can have your game. Like I just I don't

(12:10):
understand that. And the first guy I think then I
forget his name, the ad at Oklahoma who was complaining
about all these these eleven am start times and these
eleven am you know, local times there. It's like, dude,
would you rather be playing in a window that was
seen by less people?

Speaker 4 (12:26):
Like?

Speaker 2 (12:26):
Would you rather have less people see your program? Like
I don't understand that whole concept, because it feels like
when you guys do go to these places, when you
do go to other places, when you're gonna be in Evanston,
when you're gonna be in ams Man, those people are
fired up for it and there and it's an hour earlier.
This isn't like and you were on the call for

(12:47):
one of these games. Didn't you call a game at
nine am at the Rose Bowl during COVID like you?
And was that a Sunday nine am game or some
crazy the some weird time like that local time. We're
not talking about nobody watching, no audience whatsoever. You're opening up,
you know, a giant concert and you're the first opening

(13:09):
app with nobody there. The audience is huge, the fans
are there, the eyeballs are there, the attention is there,
the coverage is there. You guys do it up as
well as anybody. I don't get the complaints. I really don't.
It doesn't. It doesn't make sense to me.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
It's interesting you brought up the athletic director for Texas
because he used to be the athletic director for Oklahoma.
You're referencing Joe becaust to go on. That's right, Yeah,
who made the comments about the start times. And you know,
the reality is he's the idea of Texas. It's one
of the reasons why you know, again he doesn't he
says he doesn't like it, yet he will on the

(13:46):
road in this case, because apparently they're worried about San
Jose State, who they play in Week two on September sixth,
and that's why they don't want to have a short
week and play on Sunday. Otherwise the game would be
in primetime and it would be going head to head
versus Notre Dame Miami. So again I understand the frustration
from Ohio State fans or even other fan bases that,
for example, like Penn State's already announced I believe their

(14:08):
white out game this year is versus Oregon. Well, last
year their white out game was announced that it was
worth first Washington before the season, but we had Penn
State Ohio State, and for some reason, like they want
that to be a whiteout too. Minunderstanding from LeVar, a
minor standing from other Penn State folks is that they
have one white out a year. I didn't know we
were doing multiple. So again Fox was looking at trying

(14:31):
to move it hard too, for a couple of reasons.
A they had the World Series which was Yankees Dodgers.
No disrespect to Penn State and Ohio State. You're not
going to rate higher than a Yankees Dodgers. What would
have been a game six or seven whatever it was
in that series, even though it didn't make it that
far so that it was tough to be able to
adjust the windows for that reason, but also again working
with the other partnering networks, that also made it difficult.

(14:54):
So you know, when you look at the grand landscape
of it, it's not as simple as saying, oh, we
have this game, what's the row in prime time? And
that's in part because of the deal that was signed
by every Big ten school, Ohio State, Penn State included,
and the TV networks as well. And this is the
first style of we've really had three different networks, you know,

(15:15):
cutting into a conference like this in such a major way.
Usually it's been like a shared between Fox and ESPN,
who are sharing the rights to like the Big twelve,
and so you're only working with one other partner going
back and forth. Now you've got two others that you're
trying to kind of make everyone happy, and it's hard
sometimes to do so. So again I get the frustration.

(15:35):
We have zero to do with that for our pregame show.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
So it's just wild, Tony. Any reason to bitch it,
just why And there's nothing, by the way, there's nothing
wrong with having the game that early. One of the
great sporting events you can go to is a Friday
day game at Wrigley Field, one twenty first pitch, you're
out by four o'clock. Got the rest of your day

(16:01):
ahead of you. Come on, man. The game wraps up,
Ohio State picks up another win. It's three thirty three,
forty five in the afternoon in Columbus, and you just
get all your buddies together and you go rent out
of booth at Vaso later on that night in Dublin
and you tear it up for the rest of the night.
What's the bitch about? And you can watch all the

(16:21):
other games. You can watch all the other games and
enjoy the rest of your day as opposed to having
to gear up. Is it because of the tailgating? Is
because of well, we can't tailgate as long. Sure, you
can't start at midnight. Do what Lee to Lap would do.
It just feels like there's options here.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
Do what LeVar does. Just go all day. It doesn't
matter when the game starts. You're gonna leave it halftime.
You needna tail it afterwards. You gonna game the game.
Had it hours ago, you're still off the tailgating. That's
that's what he does.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
Like there's options here, but but the idea that it's like,
oh my god, this is a punishment really, Like, do
you know how many schools would kill for the opportunity
to be seen with that audience, with that many eyeballs
and to have you guys there. How many schools are like, God,
we'd love to We'd love to be a part of this. Like, look,
they can say whatever they want about Dion and Coach

(17:09):
Prime and the growth and all the popularity. A big
part of that was your guys' presentation of that place,
the beautiful backdrop that like what they like. Texas Tech
put on a show last year. Yet Danny Amandola blowing
stuff up on set, like like, it's not like you
guys just going there take over and tear. It's not

(17:30):
like the Olympic Village and everything's Look, no, you're like
building up and help build up the promotion of a program.
I just the complaints have never It's never made sense
to me, honestly.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
Well, look, I understand it from the standpoint of and
I mean, look, in many cases, if we're there, it's
it's a big game, it's a big matchup, and so
I understand that, especially for Ohio State fans. Because I
was there at the Ohio State Tennessee game. I know
exactly what that atmosphere looks like at night. I grew
up going as a kid. I've just went recently, so
I understand how how electric it may be. And clearly,

(18:03):
based on how that game went, you'd say this is
an advantage for us, But there also is an element
of like, you're still playing Texas at home, and this
will largely be the toughest game that arch Manning plays
up until the playoff, and you could maybe even say
it'll be the toughest start that Archie Manning ever has
in his career. You know, some people who have put

(18:24):
out these projected mock drafts after the twenty twenty five
season have him as the number one quarterback. He's started
what three games, and he's played in a handful of others.
So if you're looking at it from a timing standpoint
on a young quarterback having to play on the road
versus Ohio State, like this sets up perfectly for you,

(18:44):
and again a lot of time to prepare before the season,
but for his to cut his teeth Ohio State in Columbus,
it's just a tall task, and I understand how they're
You know, if you're in a night game atmosphere, you
feel like, well, maybe that gives you an advantage. Like
I've been in that stadium for night games. I've been
in that stadiums for a noon games. House stage fans
show out regardless, it doesn't matter what time it is.

(19:06):
It just they seem to, you know, think that the
nighttime gives them a big time advantage. And I've always said,
like night games are fun to plan. They stink to
wait for. That's one thing I know as a player,
like I'd much rather play earlier in the day. But again,
I understand the frustration with it. I'm just trying to
explain to people so they know that it's not like
purely sitting on Fox. Like they did what they could

(19:26):
to try to move the game to primetime. It just
it didn't work out that way. There's a lot of
other moving pieces.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
I mean, now we've got to figure out, uh, you know,
which games we're going to be a part of this show.
I mean, you know Oregon Northwestern would be a.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
I mean you think Texas, Ohio state that we would
be able to figure that out.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
I mean, you know, the graduates. Right, I mean, it's
there before, That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
We've been there before, We've done it before. It makes
a lot of sense.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
They had a wheel LaVar in on a gurney.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
Never he thought he had he had a legit was
it an achilles injury or foot injury. Then we just we
I diagnosed gollut pretty quick and he was like, oh, yeah,
maybe it is that. And sure enough it was just gout.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Yeah I think, And I told him to Yeah, my
my buddy went through the same thing. He said it
was gout like red Scout and like some some issues
like that. So yeah, I mean, well, alcohol, too much alcohol.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
This seems this seems possible, man, Yeah, I mean it
does seem possible. We'll see if we can get everyone
everyone there. You know, he's not here today, but it is.
It is interesting. That was a very NBA S type
injury for LeVar where there's a lot of drama, the
whole like wheelchair situation. That's that's true.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
I am off tomorrow, thank you.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
He is, Yeah, he is. He's gonna be off for
a while most likely. But it was interesting that he
he has this whole wheelchair situation just to find out
his gout. I haven't known many people who dealt with
the wheelchair because of gout. Now, maybe I don't know
that many people with gout, But that felt like, I
don't know, kind of felt I was a Paul Pierce
who got wheeled. Yeah, it kind of felt like that

(21:02):
sort of injury drama behind it.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
And he was there, and he was there, We got
to got to hang out the graduates. Yeah, that would
be that would be a full On August thirtieth, we
got Texas, Ohio State. Maybe we'll make that happen as
well too, And and if we did, I'm sure our
our backs will be tip top, you know, tip top,
no back pain whatsoever for any of us at all.

(21:27):
Like I can promise you that it is. Uh, you know,
two pros and a cup of Joe here on Fox
Sports Trains.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
You're the worst at this. I mean, can't we just
naturally get to it? I mean, do you want to
do the blue cheer read first? Naturally get to what
what do you mean? All right? Listen, I've dealt with
a lot of back pain, a lot of other bumps
and bruises injuries stout the course of my life. And
here's the thing. There's only a number of things that
make a difference, and your mattress is no doubt one
of them. Mattrees Firms sleep Experts. They'll help you find
the perfect bed for your unique needs. Get matched at

(21:54):
Mattress Firms for more day of sail and sleep at night.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
It is Two Pros and a Cup of Joe here
on Fox or Radio. Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you
here coming up next. It is a Friday tradition. We're
going to round them all up, all right, We're going
to round them all up here and that'll be yours
on FSR.

Speaker 4 (22:10):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
It is Two Pros and a Cup of Joe. Fox
Sports Radio. Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with the air. How
do you feel about Deadliest Catch there, Brady, I.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
Haven't watched it, but I know about it pretty badass. Yeah,
you know, as far as what they're asked to do,
I mean, I know there's a lot of recreational.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
Things that go on too on that show, but a
little bit.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
It's just it's incredible the thing about what some people
could be out there doing for a job. Yeah, I
mean obviously the danger of it, how difficult it is.
So it's it's ashions, it's fun, it's entertaining to see
what that lifestyle would look like. But man, that'd be rough.

Speaker 2 (23:02):
Yeah, rough, rough lifestyle. So when you hear bon Jovi
wanted dead or alive, I think of deadliest catch. But
I do know this, we are going to think of
a quarterback who is going to try and do the
impossible coming up this next season in the NFL. You'll
hear from him coming up about fifteen minutes from now
here on FSR. Before we get to our weekly edition

(23:27):
of our topic roundup, I want to remind you you
can check out the Fox Sports Radio YouTube channel. Just
search Fox Sports Radio on YouTube. You'll see a whole
bunch of video highlights from our shows. Be sure to
subscribe so you never miss our very best Fox Sports
Radio videos on YouTube. Around up and away we go.
You see there, there's some things that kind of slipped

(23:48):
through the cracks here on this show. Throughout the course
of a week, we're gonna round them all up, round up,
and we're gonna round all those things up here with
something little bit awkward. Speaking of deadliest Catch, somebody who's
catching a lot of heat for their behavior off the
field is one Justin Tucker. Justin Tucker, who was the

(24:15):
formerly the kicker of the Baltimore Ravens. He was recently released.
John Harbass spoke about it, said, well, you know, there's
a little bit more that went into it, but they
keep throwing the old football decision storyline attached to it.
Here was the Ravens head coach explaining why the team
decided to walk away from a potential future Hall of

(24:35):
Famer who might also be a bit of a weirdo.

Speaker 5 (24:38):
It was a complex decision making process, and you know,
I'm a part of it, Eric Sashi, Ozzie Steve is
a big part of those kind of decisions. I mean,
you're talking about, you know, arguably the best kicker in
history of the game, you know, and like we said,
it's multi layered, it's complicated, but you've got it. In
the end. It all back, it all comes back to

(25:00):
what you have to do to get ready for your
team to play the first game, and I think if
you step back and you take a look at all
the issues and all the ramifications, you can understand that,
you know, we've got to get our football team ready
and we've got to have a kicker ready to go,
and that was the move that we decided to make.
So in that sense, it's a football decision, you know.
And now we have to spend all of our focus

(25:21):
and our time to get these kickers ready and we've
got a competition going on and get those guys ready
to go make kicks. So's that's all I'm thinking about.
Like from my perspective, it's like, we got to have
a kicker out there making kicks, you know, and what's
the best way to get that done.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
He's good, man, he is good. That is a season
vet when it comes to spinning and working it back
into just getting ready for the season.

Speaker 1 (25:42):
You know, let's just go ahead and be honest and
call it out. Is all right? Justin Tucker is a
Hall of Fame kicker, all right. He will go into
the Hall of Fame, I believe despite what's occurring right
now off the field. He only made seventy three percent
of his kicks to put it into context, he hasn't
missed less than eighty two, which was at an earlier

(26:03):
stage in his career eighty two percent early on. Ever,
most of his kicking has been above eighty five percent
of his kicks. He was twenty two of thirty last year.
And this is coming off years where he missed five
the year before that, sixty year before that, and by
the way, only two back in twenty twenty one. So

(26:25):
he has been elite. He has been the standard at times.
He's got a long leg as well. When you look
at you know what he's said. I think he say
the sixty six yard back in that same year in
twenty twenty one. I mean, he's been incredible, but he's
gotten to a point where he's no longer playing up
to that ability. And when you are one of those

(26:47):
extraordinary talents and you've got some off the field issues
but you start not producing, that's when seems to move
on from you. It's the dirty truth. People can take
issue with that, but as long as you're talented enough,
you'll always have an opportunity despite your transgressions off the field.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
We'll keep it in the AFC North. Stop me. If
you've heard this before, somebody with the Bengals is not
happy with their contract. This time it's somebody who's not
actually even officially a member of the Bengals yet, Shamar Stewart.
Apparently there's language in the contract he is still not

(27:28):
shown up to OTAs. It feels like the Bengals are
always in some sort of a mess. There was a
report that came out from Jeremy Fowler who said that
some people around the league think that Trey Hendrickson could
miss games he's that dead set on wanting to get
a new deal or being sent elsewhere if the Bengals
do not offer that up. So apparently a team who

(27:50):
swore up and down defense is a priority. We are
not just an offensive team. They've got two potential key
members of their defensive line who are nowhere to be
found when it comes to OTAs and potentially for the season.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
Just so people understand, this is some of the frustration
that players have when negotiating with teams, in particular with
the rookie contract. So he hasn't agreed upon terms yet
and because of that, people are frustrated that he hasn't
been a part of the rookie mini camp or OTAs.
He's gotten some pushback on that, but most people, if

(28:25):
they were in his shoes, would do the same damn thing.
You're not going to sign a contract unless you feel
comfortable with it. And here's why he doesn't feel comfortable
with it. The Bengals are trying to introduce new language,
all right. They haven't done this before in any of
the rookie deals, in particular their first round draft picks.
They're trying to include a claw that could clause that
could void his future guarantees if he defaults in one year.

(28:50):
So they're trying to do something that's never been done before.
Him and his agent are like, wait a second, you
just drafted you know, first round draft picks in previous drafts.
This wasn't the case. Why are you doing it now?
And this is what the owners do. They try to
you know, pick away and claw away and get back
little things within some of these contracts because there's not

(29:11):
as much to negotiate anymore. It's basically been the signing
bonus and the timing of the signing bonus, an offset language.
And now we get more owners trying to you know
again claw and straight back because maybe they don't like
the rookie draft salary pool. Maybe they don't like the
structure of a lot of these first round deals that
are now fully guaranteed, so they're doing all they can

(29:32):
cheap asses to try to make a way of them
not having to worry about paying him the guaranteed contract
that he should be receiving based on their own precedent,
it's the same. I just like people on the outside
don't understand how cheap rich people are, sometimes in particular owners,
and instead of siding with the player a guy who's

(29:54):
going to make the most money ever in his life
while playing in the NFL, they'd rather side with the
They'd rather side with the guy who's got an eight
hundred nine hundred million dollars in their bank.

Speaker 2 (30:05):
Speaking of the defensive line, Joey Bosa is a brand
new member of the Buffalo Bills, and right before OTA's
calf injury popped up, he is expected to be ready
for training camp. But as of right now, a guy
who's dealt with a ton of injuries, especially over the

(30:25):
past couple of years, Joey Bosa already dealing with one.
I don't know if this is on par with what
Russell Wilson went through last year where he suffered this
calf injury that bled all the way into the season.
But nonetheless brand new home for Joey Bosa, same old
injury story when it comes to him, who just can't
seem to stay healthy over the past couple of years.

Speaker 1 (30:46):
When he is healthy though, he's a Pro Bowl caliber player.
I think we'd all agree on that, and that's what
Buffalo is hoping to get. The hard part is, I mean,
he's he started what eighteen games of the course the
last three years, he just has not been able to
stay healthy. And I think his last high mark year
where he played every game with twenty twenty one, he
had ten and a half sacks. But worry out on
Joey Bosa as far as the impact they're hoping he's

(31:08):
actually going to have.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
He's not even thirty yet, Guys, not even thirty years old.
There was some speculation that he was going to potentially
bookend in San Francisco with his brother. That was kicked
around a little bit, and I think the Bills came
in and offered him a little bit more money and
he said, well, you know, I'd rather go there than
go play with my brother in California, so he is

(31:31):
with the Bills. Hopefully he will be back on the
field at some point, very very soon, because yes, when
he is healthy, I look him and Khalil Mack. That
appeared to be one of the better pass rushing duos
that there was, but it was, much like many things
with the Chargers, just never seemed to get to where
they thought it was going to be. Lastly, here on

(31:52):
this week's edition of the topic roundup something near and
dear to the heart of one Brady Quinn. Apparently the
EACE Sports cover they're going to feature current players, coaches
and others. Is this the College Football twenty five? Because
I'm seeing when it comes to the new College Football

(32:12):
twenty five and the College Football on Fox, folks over
on Instagram made sure to point out all of the
previous players that were on the cover. Apparently we've got
a couple of wide receivers that are getting some love
this year. You are going to get Jeremiah Smith and

(32:35):
why is Ryan Williams of Alabama who's going to be
featured there? So's two stud wide receivers who I think
both just turned fifteen, if I'm not mistaken, are going
to be featured on the cover of EA Sports twenty five.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
Were you big?

Speaker 2 (32:48):
Did you ever play with yourself in the game?

Speaker 1 (32:51):
In No, I never played with myself in game.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
No I'm saying. I'm saying with the game, I never
did that. I'm saying with.

Speaker 1 (32:58):
Video yet, Yeah, No I didn't. I didn't play the
video game back then either. It would have been cool.
I think, looking back on it, I probably should have
done that more. But it's a neat opportunity for these guys.
I'm just glad they're able to cash into on the
sports using their name, image and likeness. Here's what I
don't understand. Didn't they already come out with some sort
of cover or was that a promotion for the cover

(33:20):
of it with like a bunch of people on it.

Speaker 2 (33:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (33:22):
I was like, I know Jeremiah Love was on that,
Marcus Freeman was on that. I saw them. I know
Reggie was there on the side. What was that then?
That's not the cover of the game.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
I don't think so. Yeah, because I saw that as
well too. They had everybody sort of featured there.

Speaker 1 (33:37):
Yeah, and you saw Ryan Wilson and Jeremiah Smith too.
Is a part of that. But look, if you're talking
if you're going to tell me that those two players
an be on the cover, very deserving. Jeremiah Smith is
probably the best player, in my opinion in college football overall,
if you take out you know position and all that
and you know and how you value position. Ryan Williams
is right there too. Like, both those guys are incredible talents.

Speaker 2 (33:58):
By the way, would he have gone ahead of t
MAC this year?

Speaker 1 (34:01):
Yes, and both those guys would have. They both would
have been probably top ten, top five picks, depending on
the need of the team's drafting.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
By the way I'm looking at it, I did an
AI search for you in this game in college football
twenty five. Brady Quinn's presence in the game EA Sports
College Football twenty five includes a roster of real life
college football players, and Brady Quinn, who played at Notre
dameas among them.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
Right, yeah, I think they have past players as a
part of it. That's usually some of it. How far
are they to go back? Does it? Say?

Speaker 2 (34:34):
I don't see I'm not a big video game guy,
so not really my cup of tea. But who wouldn't
want to see you and Samarja hooking up again? Breaking
the hearts of UCLA fans back at the back there
in South Bend, and.

Speaker 1 (34:47):
That's always fun. Yeah. I was pretty unstoppable in the
game from what I'm told.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
So it is Two Pros and a Cup of Joe
here on Fox Sports Radio. So that'll conclude this week's
edition of the Topic Round Up here on the show
Up Next, though, there's a quarter back who's gonna try
and do the impossible. He's gonna try and do the
impossible in the NFL, and it's yours here on FSR.

Speaker 4 (35:05):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Arrington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific.

Speaker 2 (35:16):
Uh huh hell yeah yeah. Dublin, Ohio in the house.

Speaker 3 (35:24):
Hmm.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
I do the Mortal Tournament going on right now. I'm
not sure how today is gonna go though a lot
of rain.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
Yeah, here it comes Quinn back to throw growing right,
steps up fires, He's got some mar jab anythy it's
a touchdown? Hell Mary, what the hell is this bluetoo? Man?

Speaker 4 (35:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (35:48):
I got you, Okay, Now it's acetown not gonna be classic.

Speaker 2 (35:54):
Uh, it is two pros and a cup of Joe.
Here on Fox Sports Radio, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with
you here, come it up, Knocks going up top of
x Dour here we are going to Yes, somebody's got
a little bit of a home game this weekend in
the world of sports. We will discuss that for you
here on FSR. Speaking of home games, Justin Field's home

(36:16):
games will be at MetLife Stadium this year. Very interesting
by the way that we are going to eventually see
Rogers go where Justin Fields and Russell Wilson were, and
Russell Wilson and Justin Fields go play where Rogers was.
It's kind of a little bit of a swap there.
Very interesting how it all played out. But apparently Justin
Fields very optimistic looking forward to his time as the

(36:39):
quarterback of the New York Jets, and had this to say,
I think.

Speaker 6 (36:42):
I can be great, you know, and that's going to
go for me my whole life, my whole career. So
like I said, you know, I think this guy's a limit,
you know, for this team, for this offense.

Speaker 1 (36:52):
But we do have a long way to go.

Speaker 6 (36:53):
Like I said, our offense and defense are new. So
guys are you know, really tuned in and locked in
and trying to get everything down. But think, you know,
once we do, I think this guy's are limit. I mean,
we have, you know, all the guys we need, We
have all the talents, so it's really just going to
come down to discipline, nection, execution when the games come.

Speaker 2 (37:09):
Brady, you know me, the last thing I want to
do is be negative. It's just not my thing. I
don't believe that there is a quarterback alive who can
fix whatever the hell that is with the New York Jets.
I'm convinced, like every everything.

Speaker 1 (37:27):
You don't think even if like Josh Allen or Patrick
Mahomes or Lamar Jackson went there, like they couldn't they
couldn't fix that.

Speaker 2 (37:34):
I mean within reason, Like those guys aren't going to
become available. By the time they are there, they'll probably
past their prime. I just don't. I don't, I don't
see it. I'm sorry, I can't. Like I wish the
best for him, Like he seems like a great guy.
I'm glad he got you know, a little bit of
a payday and he's getting a real opportunity there, unlike
he got last year in Pittsburgh really, but I just

(37:55):
I don't see it. I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (37:57):
He's got a lot of upside and I think if
he keeps continuing as a player, he can give them
a shot because he does have some dynamic ability. But
there's a lot of things working against some history being
one of them. But just that organization always seems like
something goes wrong. It's hard to put your finger on why,
but it starts with Woody Johnson and it goes down

(38:17):
from there.

Speaker 2 (38:18):
That's the why.

Speaker 1 (38:19):
Well, yeah, he's been the one consonant throughout all the
change and ups and downs experienced. But I don't know.
I want to give him a chance. I want to
give Aaron Glenn a chance. He's a good guy, good coach.
You hope that this can be maybe the group that.

Speaker 2 (38:33):
Turns it around for Jets fans and we'll get to
see Justin Fields versus Aaron Rodgers. When Rogers eventually signs
Week one, that'll be the game Week one Jets Steelers
