you want to talk about this Gene Hackman story, because
well do.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
You remember when we read the story? Was it yesterday?

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:12):
It said what like no foul play or they ruled
out any foul play, and then you start reading the details,
you wait a second just to that's no way the
way I mean it just something's not adding up. And
with the front door was open, one dog was dead,
the other one was alive. So you start kind of
ruling out some like carbon monoxide poison things like that,

(01:34):
and then people start talking about how you know Gene
Hacken was you know, he gets as many a syndication,
Like he gets as much as anyone in Hollywood or
something like that. There's like all these different theories that
are starting to float out there. I'm not trying to
be a conspiracy theorist, just saying something's going on there
that that is not right, man.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Yeah, like yeah, one dog dead, the other two alive,
front door act like and then you know, TMZ has
this report that comes out that says, oh, a good
friend of Gene Ackman says his wife kept him on
a real strict diet. It's like, what, okay, yeah, like
like that hasn't like everyone's starting to kind of like

(02:15):
you know, pivot and like, oh, just pointing this out
that she's got him on a real strict diet. Okay, Well, dude,
he's ninety five. Apparently it was working, like, I mean,
you know, he's doing pretty well. Was he ninety five? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Ninety five?

Speaker 4 (02:27):
How old was she?

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Sixty?

Speaker 4 (02:29):
Sixteen five?

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Ye?

Speaker 6 (02:30):
That's somethings off. Thumbs off. Yeah, something's off. I mean
I don't know what something's off. I mean, something's clearly on,
or least was on. What do you mean what do
you mean she's thirty years younger than them?

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Oh? Well that was yeah, yeah, I wasn't talking about that.
I mean, I'm with you there though, I don't know. Yeah,
where's she from? Jonas?

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (02:57):
You know her origin? I don't. I haven't looked, didn't
look that up. You look it up? Lee? Can you?
Can you look up the origin of Gene Hackman's wife
on on everything? I think I have an idea. I'm
just curious if that's not only if that's where she's from, Okay,

(03:20):
I mean, if she's from there, then I would Yeah,
I was assuming, but I could be off. I mean,
what is clearly in the in the room today, because
I mean it shouldn't. I could have got it quicker
than this.

Speaker 7 (03:36):
Well, she is she's American classical, she's American.

Speaker 5 (03:42):
What the hell does that meanist?

Speaker 1 (03:45):
I'm not asking one more question?

Speaker 4 (03:49):
Are you not?

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Okay? There we go, all thank you, Lee?

Speaker 4 (03:56):
Are you not fully functional to say, like, what's happening?

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Dude?

Speaker 1 (03:58):
I'm fine?

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Okay, don't piss him off again?

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Come on?

Speaker 5 (04:03):
First off, I mean you can bloay me forever. He once,
but I don't. I am the least he has to
worry about in his life. That is a fair statement.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Okay, yeah, we'll probably leaser than you. So what have
I done?

Speaker 4 (04:21):
I'm not I'm not even president.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
I can just tell when he's not in uh, not
in the mood to be tickled.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
And who's tickled? You know? Jeez? All right back to uh, Gene,
So what what do you think? And uh do we
need some music?

Speaker 4 (04:39):
Cue?

Speaker 1 (04:39):
Like what what are you thinking? Do you have a theory?

Speaker 4 (04:43):
Shoot?

Speaker 5 (04:44):
I don't know, Like I don't really have a conspiracy
theory on this one. I also I'm sad. I mean,
Gene Hackman was a tremendous actor.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Tremendous I think.

Speaker 5 (04:53):
Yeah, there's like a number of movies you can kind
of point back to. The coaching Hoosiers was probably one
of my favorite characters.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
That he played.

Speaker 5 (05:01):
Although you can throw out some others. I just I mean,
that's actually where we should probably lean on Lee for Lee.
What was Gene Hackman's best movie.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
In your mind?

Speaker 7 (05:10):
The French Connectionman, Yeah, Superman, French Connection, Yeah, the French Yeah,
French Connection is what do you want an Oscar for?

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Oscar winning?

Speaker 4 (05:20):
Superman's not up there for you?

Speaker 2 (05:22):
Well?

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Yeah, Lex Lex Luthor.

Speaker 5 (05:23):
Run Away Jury, Coaches, The State.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Enemy of the State was a good one, and it
was really good. The State was that one.

Speaker 7 (05:33):
But the original Poseidon Adventure.

Speaker 5 (05:35):
Now, h LaVar, have you not seen many other Gene
Hackman movies besides Ny of the State.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
I saw him in The Quick Did you know? He
was the Quick Gun and the Quick did the Quick
end the Did you remember that one?

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Is?

Speaker 1 (05:50):
I like, I like Western flicks. Yeah, you've seen Crimson
Tide right, Royal.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
Tanne Bombs was great, didn't unforgiven one best picture?

Speaker 1 (06:01):
He was in Geronimo as well. That was a good one. Yeah,
I mean, I like, I'm forgiving it was a good one.
I like Gene Hackman. I mean, obviously he's played different,
you know, an array of roles, but I liked him
as a country dude, Like, I like he was a
quick gun and the quick and did. But I like,

(06:23):
I grew up on him obviously when he was playing
Lex Luthor and uh and Superman. So as he's from
my childhood, so which is interesting because I'm getting old.
But yeah, ninety five is crazy.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
By the way, he's one of those everybody said either
one of the best or the best actor they ever
worked with. Wow, But I don't know. He's just a
great actor. And he's not like Daniel day Lewis that
weirdo who just disappears and goes.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
I'm not ready yet. He's a bad dude on the character. Okay,
I mean he gets into character. Bro, Yeah, why are
you against method as? Okay, let me tell you something
if you weren't. Oh, he's I mean, Lee is not acting.
He's so far in it, he's not even acting. That's
a real person. Walt is a real person. Like we

(07:13):
act like we be joking. But I think Walt is
in the control room today like and that could be
a little nerve racking sometimes because I don't I didn't
know I knew Walt, you know what I mean? Is
that sure?

Speaker 4 (07:25):
For Walter?

Speaker 1 (07:26):
By the way, is he Walter? I don't think there is, Uh,
it's just Walt. I wasn't sure. I just I haven't
got Maybe I've gotten to know Walton. Didn't know it
was Walt, but now I know that I'm getting to
know Walt. It's it's kind of like I approach it differently.

Speaker 7 (07:41):
I think it is always short for Walter. Even Walt
Disney is Walter.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
Okay, well, there you go.

Speaker 3 (07:46):
Lee.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
He wasn't known as a method actor, right, please Walt Disney. No,
he was not, thank god, No, he just he was
always Steve was kind of himself. God, those guys bugged me.
I mean, actors really bothered Daniel Dave Lewis brou I'm sorry.
I can't go down that road with you with him.
That dude.

Speaker 4 (08:03):
He's a great actor, but he's a great ada.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
He's a beast. That dude is a beast man.

Speaker 5 (08:09):
He as an actor is so far like he's he's incredible. Like,
I'm okay with whatever you got to do to to
get there as an actor. Okay, you know, okay, I
have no problem with him if that is, if that's weird,
the whole method acting thing and how he does it
doesn't matter.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
Because it comes out great on screen.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
Man, I do got it.

Speaker 7 (08:28):
I am reading an article that he does attribute himself
as a methodist.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Oh gman, Wow, that's unfortunate.

Speaker 4 (08:35):
Well there you go. Take that, Jonas, that's unfortunate.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
Does that change their opinion of him a little bit?

Speaker 4 (08:41):
Jonas grab a spoon, all right.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
It's just seeing those like being in acting classes and
seeing people do the method acting thing was so awkward
and like kind of cringey to see them try and
get into this role and it's like, dude.

Speaker 5 (08:57):
Why would you want to get into acting? Then if
you you were not like that, why would you want
to do that?

Speaker 1 (09:02):
Well, I didn't know until I got there. But there's
a lot of things you can judge about thesbian's I
remember and actors.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
So I remember being at this acting class, careful with that.
I remember being in this I remember and this guy
was given the role of somebody on full metal jacket,
and I remember this Nimrod goes to his car and
pulls out some like army jacket he had and he's
like pacing around the hallways and I'm looking at this guy, going, dude,

(09:31):
We're in a strip mall in Sherman Oaks. It's two
in the afternoon, there's a laundry mat next door. What
are you doing? And he went in and was awful,
and they're like, well, he's got to be the character
for dude, when they say action, do your lines to
the best of your ability, and then turn it off afterwards.

(09:51):
You don't have to walk around like you're the guy
a full metal jacket all day. Like he's sitting in
a drive through and he's like, you know, he's got
to pretend. Did he have to come did he have
to come back and do it again?

Speaker 2 (10:03):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (10:04):
He sucked, But I'm saying, did he have to come
back and do it again after that?

Speaker 3 (10:08):
Like?

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Did he have days after that? Weeks after that? Like
was he doing it for something in potentular?

Speaker 3 (10:13):
No, whatever the role was, he would like get into
care like he could, you know.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
But then it was done. He didn't have to be
that person anymore. Yeah, I mean, once you're done, you're done.
But if you're still if you're still living in it.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
I was so disgusted by it that I just thought
that these people are all weirdos, all weirdos. But those
are the people that Lee associated himself with young out
with all the all those method actors.

Speaker 5 (10:37):
Lee, when's the last film that you had to grade
or whatever you do critique for whatever it does?

Speaker 4 (10:44):
You do?

Speaker 2 (10:45):
Well?

Speaker 7 (10:46):
I can't discuss because what.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
You sign NDA's all right, let walt tell us the
Let have wont tell us?

Speaker 3 (10:56):
Wait wait what I can't tell you?

Speaker 1 (10:59):
I can't What would happen? Lee?

Speaker 3 (11:01):
I'd get sued? What what they take it for you?

Speaker 1 (11:07):
Exactly right? What they sue you?

Speaker 3 (11:09):
Poor Lee?

Speaker 1 (11:10):
Everything I got.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
Me?

Speaker 5 (11:16):
Are you just playing this up? Because no offense to
you making a show or a movie? I would not
care if you watched it enough to sign an NDA.
I would not be concerned about you.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
Lee?

Speaker 3 (11:27):
What what is your responsibility for these shows?

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Like?

Speaker 7 (11:29):
What do you There's no responsibility you just got You're
just an audience member and you give your two cents.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
And you have to sign an NDA saying that you
can't say.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
What that's a responsibility?

Speaker 4 (11:40):
Dude?

Speaker 3 (11:40):
Like you have to sign an agreement that you're not
going to discuss it.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
We can't even have this conversation.

Speaker 5 (11:45):
What that is such a lie one too? Like like
I've signed many NDAs. This is you have not divulged
anything anything at all?

Speaker 1 (11:58):
You got important?

Speaker 5 (11:59):
Really to know?

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Lee?

Speaker 4 (12:00):
Do these people know how you operate outside.

Speaker 5 (12:03):
Of when you're vieling whatever it is the hell you're viewing, Like,
do they know what's going on with you and Todd
or whatever else in your life?

Speaker 1 (12:10):
No?

Speaker 4 (12:11):
Okay. Do you think that would change their opinion of
needing to have you sign an n D A.

Speaker 7 (12:16):
Yeah, they'd probably make it just not invite me. Or
do you get paid stronger NDA?

Speaker 3 (12:20):
Do you get paid for that?

Speaker 5 (12:22):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (12:22):
No, not really. Sometimes they give you like free tickets
and stuff, so you gotta sign an NDA where they
could sue you and take everything you have. Don't get
an air quotes, but you get no money for no nothing.
Free tickets here and there?

Speaker 3 (12:35):
Here, Yeah, here's a free here's as you could catch
these with that India. Here's a Star Wars popcorn?

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Are you talking about pop? But?

Speaker 3 (12:46):
Yeah? Hey, here you go. Here's a here's a lightsaber
popcorn bucket. Thanks for thanks for reviewing the film. By
the way, sign this n D A. Yeah, kiss my ass,
no chance sign these?

Speaker 4 (12:59):
Hey?

Speaker 3 (12:59):
Lee?

Speaker 4 (13:00):
Can ask you this question before you move on?

Speaker 1 (13:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (13:03):
Does it make you feel important when you watch these shows?
Have to sign an NDA?

Speaker 1 (13:08):
No? Not at all. What it does does waste time?
You just did it? You just made yourself important on
this segment. I do it for entertainment.

Speaker 7 (13:17):
I do it.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
Did he just make himself? I feel like that's a contradiction. Lee,
you said, we can't even have this conversation where we're
at right now, Like I've signed an NDIA, I can't
talk to you about this. You've already made yourself important.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
How often do you do it? Uh?

Speaker 1 (13:38):
Maybe every few weeks? Really?

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Yeah, I had no idea. What's the last movie?

Speaker 1 (13:44):
You want to? Can't tell you that you what?

Speaker 7 (13:48):
No, you can't even say the name of it or
that you have seen it.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
No.

Speaker 5 (13:52):
I understand that, And that's why I'm not asked tell
us tell us what it was, Lee, tell us what
it was? He Actually, I won't, Lee, don't tell them that.
But here's here's what I want to ask you. Are
you sober through any of what you're watching?

Speaker 1 (14:12):
A majority of the time most of the.

Speaker 4 (14:16):
Don't lie?

Speaker 1 (14:17):
No?

Speaker 4 (14:17):
No, how many of them?

Speaker 5 (14:19):
How many of them have you blacked out for at
least a portion of it and fell asleep?

Speaker 7 (14:22):
There was one I fell asleep at and I think
that about But I think that was more so because
I was just tired in the movie.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
Son, Did you still give a review?

Speaker 1 (14:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (14:30):
Did you say the movie stunk to them? After I did?
Hopefully you put it more eloquence.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
You imagine that review. Such and such says man. That
movie made me drink and I passed out in the theater.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
That's unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
You just every few weeks. Yes, that's great.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
How'd you get lined up with that gig?

Speaker 7 (14:51):
It's you just you just sign up for it. They'll
take anybody, They take warm bodies.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
I think this is crazy. I and just close, like
what for you Lee? To keep a secret? I watched
Trial by Fire yesterday. Do remind me of Ulie on God?
I'll give you reviews for everything.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
Did you see that movie?

Speaker 1 (15:12):
It kind of reminded me of Lead the lap Man.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
I haven't seen anything man.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Watch Trial by Fire, sad story man, sad movie.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
If it's not on Telemundo or Univision, you don't watch it.
You don't see clue, no clue, what's going on?

Speaker 1 (15:25):
Do you understand what they're saying on Telemundo?

Speaker 2 (15:27):
No?

Speaker 1 (15:28):
God, no, why do you start to understand? And when
I when I was in my motorcycle accident, I was
in the hospital for over two weeks and the television,
like the programming stunk. It was horrible, and I was
super high off of the paint mads. So I'm sitting
there and I'm bored out my mind. And it was

(15:49):
either look at the ceiling or look at the artwork
and try to figure out if I saw something within
the artwork or Telemundo or Univision. And I swear on
it everything I started understanding what they were saying. I
can't speak it, but I could understand it. I started
unders like It's like I was like sitting there and
it started like making sense. So I started, like, I

(16:12):
start watching it every day, like all day. I love
the weather. Yeah, tell you that the weather that the
weather report was freaking phenomenal. Start understanding sunny skies, you know,
Sonny Sonny and clear skies, you know. Yeah, I started
understanding that. Yeah, there you go. But I signed a
non disclosure at that hospital, by the way, to not

(16:34):
talk about how bad the television was there in the
room that so I've already said too much, you know.
But but by the way, I mean, you know, I did,
you know, you know, I do love about it. Though.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
Leah shared every detail of his life, but if you
ask him what his thoughts were on Aviator. Screw you, buddy,
great movie, screw you. I signed an NDA.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
It now makes sense, though, why he gives Q a
hard time when they have like these movie debates, Like
he's a snob for real?

Speaker 7 (17:06):
Oh yeah, the Oscars ricon, right, Yeah, I got one
more movie to watch. I watched I'm Still Here yesterday,
which is okay, but I think a little overrateds kind
of boring.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
Honestly, Who was the best Batman? Now it makes sense?
Are you gonna give out Oscars picks?

Speaker 1 (17:21):
Are you gonna like Bengals out to the leftovers?

Speaker 4 (17:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (17:24):
Yeah, I tried giving giving them weeks ago when the
nominations came out.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
But what happened?

Speaker 7 (17:29):
I got reilroaded by who are you me?

Speaker 4 (17:33):
All three of you?

Speaker 1 (17:34):
Oh? There you go? All right, all right, all right,
gloves are off? Huh da? All right, now y'all starting
to see the real Lee and Walt. There you go.

Speaker 5 (17:46):
Gotta be careful, by the way, the Pittsburgh Steelers want
Justin Fields over Russell Wilson.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
Take that bar?

Speaker 4 (17:53):
Got it?

Speaker 3 (17:54):
How's that feel? That's unbelievable? Makes no sense?

Speaker 5 (17:56):
It does beg the question why the hell did they
switch then there season?

Speaker 1 (18:00):
Right?

Speaker 7 (18:01):
Well?

Speaker 4 (18:01):
Would it did work out better for them, but it
doesn't make.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
Sense if it worked Yeah, I don't know. I saw
that it was Mike Tomlins a.

Speaker 1 (18:08):
It's a big year for them, man, I'll tell you
that they might have to pivot into a different direction
if things don't go better.

Speaker 5 (18:17):
Even if it was Mike Tomlin's call worked out, yeah,
I just don't understand why. Now it's like, oh, yeah,
it worked out better for us, but you know, we're
ready to move on.

Speaker 1 (18:28):
Russell Will just like a tool behind the scenes. I
don't know. You know, Q knows that was I don't know.

Speaker 5 (18:35):
This is a lot that was not my experience being
with him, like being around him.

Speaker 4 (18:38):
It was not like that at all.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
Do you think he evolved since you've known all those Yeah,
and this.

Speaker 5 (18:43):
Is a long time ago. This was, you know, back
in twenty thirteen, so who knows. But he was very pragmatic.
He had a process of how he prepared every day,
of how you went to kind of game plan and
prepare and improve and get better. I don't know how
that sort of thing has potentially changed. But there are
definitely some people who like don't believe it's genuine or

(19:06):
don't believe it's real. And my response is always like, well,
I don't know. I was out around him a lot
for about a six month period, and it seemed pretty
genuine and real. Like there's just certain people who are
wired a certain way, and he seems like he's that
person who's wired a certain way. What I don't know is,
you know, when you've won a super Bowl, you've been

(19:27):
to a couple you've you've had success, and.

Speaker 4 (19:29):
You've made a lot of money, do you start to.

Speaker 5 (19:33):
Then take an approach with your coordinators and your head
coach where you start to.

Speaker 4 (19:38):
Kind of try to dictate more and.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
Hafice. So I think that answer right, So I would
say the answer would be, you know, without a doubt, yes,
that's what he was doing and well.

Speaker 5 (19:53):
And the question becomes, though, after that entire experience, did
it did some of his prospective change and did he
change how he handled a lot of you know, that
communication with the OC, communication with the head coach, how
he conducted himself around his teammates. That's really the question
because if he didn't or you know, then maybe you're like, Okay,

(20:16):
I could see how he had rubbed guys the wrong
way in the locker room. But again, I would say this,
regardless of what people's impression is of him out on
the outside, he's the type of guy that wants just
the best out of his teammates and people around him.
Like he is a very kind human being, very generous
human being, and he just wants to win.

Speaker 4 (20:34):
Like bottom line.

Speaker 5 (20:35):
So, like I said that is that was not my
experience in any way, shape or form, and so it's
always frustrating for me to hear something like that because
I'm like, well, this sounds like it's coming from someone
who hasn't spent a lot of time around them, because
if they did, they'd go, oh okay, Like I kind
of get it now, right. I would say most guys
who've had success, and really most quarterbacks are kind of

(20:57):
wired a certain way and you kind of have to
be at least to make it to that level otherwise
like you're never gonna make it. So it's just but
again going back to the initial part is after getting
to the playoffs, after kind of seeing that uptick in
their offense, and I don't think he was the issue
down the stretch, you know, unless there was something behind

(21:18):
the scenes and game planning, that might be different, but
it felt like it was more of what was out
around him a little bit with what was going on.
So it's just interesting that after you chose to go
with Wilson instead of Fields, now you're saying, in such
a pivotal year, yeah, we're going with the guy we
essentially benched instead of going with Russell Wilson.

Speaker 3 (21:36):
If you would have told me it that he, you know,
a few years ago, would be on his fourth team
in five years. Wait what, I just assumed he was
going to finish his career in Seattle and be a
Hall of Famer, And just the way it's all kind
of pivoted and turned as interesting. But yeah, that is
that is a report that you know, Mark Caboli, Aditi,

(21:57):
Kika Walla have said that they expected Justin Field is
going to be the quarterback there over Russell Wilson if
one of them returned. So we'll keep you posted. Two
Pros and a Cup of Joe here on Fox Sports Radio,
LeVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you coming up
next here though, speaking of which, one of the all
time greats has said, now I've had enough here. We're

(22:18):
all good. We'll get into that for you right here
on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe, Fox Sports Radio,
LeVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here, comeing up. Uh,
we'll call it about you know, a little over fifteen
minutes from now here from the tire rack dot Com studios.
Somebody is back. Man, oh man, you know, it's good
to see the offenses have been mended in the NFL.
That'll be yours here again in a little over fifteen

(22:57):
minutes from now strong with you.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
It's just wild, man, It's just it's wild because of
how advanced things are technology, the way things are done.
There you go, there, you go get it. Look look
at him feet. That's horrible. Come on, Cote, oh, come on,
code too narrow, too high like just you just watched
guys like their fundamental aspects of what they do, just

(23:23):
the simple little details of what they do and so
many cats. It's just it's not it's not there, it's
not present. This is interesting because I can recall listening
to Q talk about like the mechanics and the techniques
that quarterbacks you use these days. You can see that
in a lot of positions. Kind of it plays out
at the combound like you're able to sit and watch

(23:44):
and you'd be like, dang, you look at like you
see him he's crossing his feet, he's clicking his heels,
Like that's horrible, horrible technique. He's too too narrow in
his run. It's it's like little things that you be like, man,
it's not about how fast you move or how quickly
you move. It about the efficiency of what you're doing
with your output. You know, they're getting there, jumping up,

(24:05):
and they're trying so hard to be fast or so
hard to be quick that you forget about your technique.
You know. It's just interesting watching Like always feel that
way when I'm watching the combine, Like watching how guys
move in the different things they do.

Speaker 5 (24:19):
Do you feel like that can be like the technique
portion can be coached, though it can like is there
an element where you're like you watch it just go Damn,
that's like a lot of raw talent.

Speaker 4 (24:28):
Yeah, we can coach them on technique, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
Yeah you can. You can. You can't cause it's like
it's little things like most like probably more more than
than Yeah, like all of them, really, I'm trying to
say all of them. They're like they're too wide in
their stances, Like they pop up, Like I'm watching the
linebackers go right now, like it's a re is this
is this current or is this a replete replay? They

(24:52):
might really be out there right now seven year a replay. Yeah,
like there just you're like looking at that. You definitely
can coach them through, you know, like your stance, your stance,
your base. Like you see how his plant foot is
going so far outside of his shoulder. It should only
go slightly outside of your shoulder when you're planting to

(25:15):
go the opposite direction. The moment your foot gets too
far outside of your base and your shoulder, you're going
to slide. You're going to slip out because now you
don't have as much control and you don't have as
much torque power as you would see. He's doing well,
he's keeping them shoulder with he's a little high, but
he's keeping them shoulder with he's that's the best rep
I've seen out out of everybody who's going twenty one.

(25:37):
It's just kind of one of those things where, yeah,
you don't really pay attention sometimes you don't pay attention
to the minute details because you're leaning into what would
be considered to be probably your athletic ability, Like, Okay, athletically,
I'm going to go side to side as quickly as possible.
I'm going to go backwards as quickly as possible. I

(25:58):
want to come forward quickly as possible. And you lose
sight of the fact that your efficiency and your effectiveness
on your output is really what makes the difference. Like
if I'm moving smoother in and out of my shuffles
and out of my back pedals and in my breaks,
if I'm moving smoother and I'm under more control, and
my body is underneath my chest is over my knees,

(26:21):
my knees are over my toes, and I'm shoulder with
apart with my feet. If you're doing those things and
those small details the right way, you gain steps. Actually
you don't lose them. You gain steps for every mistake
you'll make being just an athlete out there you'll gain
steps on being effective doing it the right way. But anyway,
it's just interesting observation. You know, it's just sitting there

(26:42):
watching them. I mean, Brady always said, you put the
fun in fundamental Yeah, you gotta put the fund you
gotta make the fundamentals fun. Yeah, put the fun in
it so that you do it. But you got to pay.
It's the details, man, It's the little details that matter.
They'll kill you, they'll make you, or they'll break you.
Brouh little details. These after's sitting there paying for their careers.

Speaker 5 (27:01):
You know, it's crazy to me. I just saw what
Lee sent us in our group chat that Kirk Cousins
deal has set the market for essentially what a veteran
quarterback at that age is going to make on a
two year deal. He's going to make fifty million on
average a year sumwhere between forty five and fifty million. Wow,

(27:23):
that's just crazy. I mean, if you think about it,
it wasn't that guaranteed. It wasn't that long ago that
Tom Brady Drew Brees signed those deals for twenty five
million per year. Like that's at the end of and
by the way, Tom Brady Drew Brees first ballot Hall
of Famers. You can't say that about Kirk Cousins your

(27:48):
you're I don't think you can say that about Matt
Stafford either. But it's crazy to think in a span
of about what five years, it's doubled and by the way,
not even five years. So it just goes to show you,
especially with what they just agreed to. The salary cap
I was at two hundred and seventy two point nine million, Yeah,
something like that for next year. I mean, that's just

(28:09):
and that was why one of the things too out
of COVID, where yes, the owners took on some additional
costs right associated with precautionary measures for the players for
COVID and not having you know, fans in the stands
or limited to some degree depending on the state and
where you're at, but they also kind of held back

(28:32):
on increase in the salary cap. But everyone knew once
we got past COVID with the new TV Right media
rights deal, it would be gangbusters.

Speaker 4 (28:41):
And some of these.

Speaker 5 (28:42):
Contracts the way they were structured, they were backloaded because
they knew a lot of these teams could actually absorb
some of the bigger base salaries because of where the
salary cap has gone to.

Speaker 4 (28:51):
Now, if there's no.

Speaker 5 (28:52):
Guarantees involved, that's usually where you can have some tough
conversations with the players and team. But it's just crazy. Now,
one year quarterback in the NFL. In the NFL for
a veteran now fifty million plus.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
Be the coldest plot twist though. If the Rams do
come to the table and make it work, make a dance,
I mean, I think it's the best thing for them
to do, you know.

Speaker 3 (29:14):
According yeah, according to Diana Rossini, the Rams are going
to meet with Stafford at their facility today. The Raiders
and Giants have discussed a two year contract for Stafford
that includes ninety two one hundred million dollars scaring.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
That's masterful. What's going on right now is called masterful work.
If I'm the Rams, I'm sitting there, I'm like, if
these teams are valuing our guy at that that figure,
then why wouldn't we What is our reasoning for letting
him go? What is our reasoning for not trying to meet,
you know, meet the requirement of keeping them here?

Speaker 4 (29:49):
For what it's worth.

Speaker 5 (29:50):
The Giants have about let's say, six million more in
cap space. The Raiders have double the cap space of
the Los Angeles Rams heading into this so offseason, so
the Raiders are very much poised to be able to
make an offer and still build out around him. The
Rams again still could make this work, but not quite

(30:12):
to the extent that the Raiders can do. And the
last thing I'll just say is, you know, yes, he
would be best suited to have continuity with Sean McVay,
that team, that system, based on how they performed last year.
But there's also a thought of if Stafford does want
X and the Rams aren't willing to pay that, or

(30:34):
they feel like maybe they're kind of done with it
as we've heard. You know, I guess there's maybe some
falling out between Less Sneed and Matt Stafford. You know,
you bring in Rogers on kind of a similar deal,
like a one or two year deal, you might be
able to get him for a little less. And like
if you look at the output last year about these quarterbacks,

(30:55):
keep going back to how Rogers finished versus Stafford. I
don't know, like, is there that big difference between the
two at this point in time.

Speaker 3 (31:02):
No, Rogers is more entertaining. I'll say that that would
be fun I'd like to see him in LA you know,
get an actual, a real organization to finish his career with,
as opposed to that clown show he was with with
the Jets.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
I think it would. I think it could be advantageous
to have Aaron Rodgers right now, especially if you're McVeigh
and you're the Rams, because I feel like McVeigh is
one of those type personalities that I mean, he's dealt
with some some pretty large personalities since being you know,
a head coach. I do not think that Aaron Rodgers

(31:38):
would be able to high sight mac McVeigh. Is that
Matt Sean Sewn Shawn Seawan, Sean McVay. I don't think
he'd be able to hide sight him. What's the difference,
you know? I mean, you know they all sound the same,
ye damn hey, But seriously, McVeigh has has proven his word.

(32:00):
He's won a super Bowl. He's he's shown that he can,
you know, with with less. He's shown that that they
can build a winner and sustain. I mean, I thought
this past year was very very very positively surprising, and
so I don't think that Aaron Rodgers would be a
thorn in Sean mcvay's in his side. I don't. And

(32:23):
I think getting him coming off of such a disappointment
in New York and him wanting to continue to play,
he goes, he comes to a different environment, he has
a coach that probably is going to be just as
good as any of the best coaches around the league
that can relate to their players. I think. I mean,
and I mean that's the same school, right the Lafloor score.

(32:45):
I mean, they're all from the Shanahan coaching tree. I
just think that Aaron Rodgers would have a great opportunity
to salvage what what maybe people judged him off of
in New York if he came to the Rams. So
if you feel like they're they're comparable, If you feel
like those two guys are comparable coming into the scenario,
then you got to say to yourself, if I can

(33:07):
save on that money knowing what my cap you know,
situation is, and I can get the type of quality
player that Aaron Rodgers is, I think that's a no brainer.
To be honest, I don't think you mortgage your entire
future off of trying to get Matthew Stafford back. If
there's other teams that could actually offer more that could
take you into deeper waters in terms of what you'd

(33:28):
have to pay for him. Yeah, it's a we will see.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
Apparently the decision will be made soon, so we should
know whether or not Matthew Stafford will be back with
the Rams or he will pursue what appears to be
the conclusion of his career with potentially the Raiders or
the Giants. So it is two Pros and a Cup

Speaker 3 (34:44):
Fox Sports Radio LeVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with
you coming up top of next hour a little over
ten minutes from now here from the tiraq dot com studios. Uh,
there's a team in the NFL that has made one
decision an important one. Somebody's going to be sticking around
for at lea another year. We'll get into that for
you again, coming up a little over ten weeks from now.

(35:26):
and running. You see him doing stuff on barstool, does
a great job, very entertaining and now you.

Speaker 5 (35:35):
Know what's so weird that some of the videos posts
is like him just opening up boxes from like other
teams or coaches who send them stuff. And I feel
like it's very similar to there's like a little kid
who made a huge following, has made a bunch of
money for like opening up different toys, and like kids
will watch them on YouTube. Yeah, open up. I forget

(35:57):
the kid's name. I feel like it's the exact same
thing with John Gruden. And I also find myself being like, oh,
I wonder what he got, or like, who's some some
of this time, and then even watching how he opens
the box, it's so relatable. Whereas like a guy you
just want to rip it instead of like getting box
cutters or scissors to open it, he just kind of

(36:18):
like a neanderthal, like rips it apart his ear.

Speaker 4 (36:20):
Look at this, you know, and he does this whole thing.
He's like got me feeling icy.

Speaker 3 (36:24):
Like that kid. That kid who does that on YouTube,
He's made MILLI he makes million.

Speaker 4 (36:29):
Million year just to open and honestly, like, I get
it now.

Speaker 5 (36:33):
I really didn't couldn't relate to it, and now I'm like, oh,
I find myself watching John Gruden open up packages he
gets I don't know if it's out of jealousy, because
every Amazon box and package that comes to my house,
is never for me? Or if I just watch him
open the box, I'm like, yeah, that's how I would
have opened that too.

Speaker 1 (36:50):
You know.

Speaker 5 (36:50):
It's like the way he rips it open. It's so
it's just like a dude like, hey, we just got
this thing. You gonna put it together, throw the directions
to the side of figure it out. It's like he's
like one of those types of guys and it's awesome.

Speaker 3 (37:03):
Well, the Bucks have reopened that box.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
Ha ha.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
Bucks have reinstated John Gruden into the team's Ring of honor.
His name will be back on the walls, but there
will be no ceremony. So John Gruden has served his
time and now he'll be represented by the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers again.

Speaker 1 (37:21):
How you guys feel about that? How does that make
you feel? Just like like why was he gone the
first right? It's just it was, you know, some emails,
was his demise. Huh.

Speaker 3 (37:32):
Everybody had to shoot up there flair gun and be like, see,
we're doing our part. And then now all these years later,
it's like, eh, whatever it happened, it's a phase. And
now now John Gruden is back. I do I wonder
if he's going to get an opportunity to coach in
the NFL again, I would not be surprised if that's

(37:54):
somewhere down the near future. I mean, he is consulting.
I think he was consulting with the Saints last year.
And it just feels like this has been a slow
climb back to eventually getting into the NFL, and he's.

Speaker 1 (38:06):
Gotten support from some really really like influential players that
have played for him. Yeah, I mean, from the likes
of sap to you know, to Derek Brooks being they
they were all together, not just not too long ago.
A lot of people came to his defense when when
all of those those things took place. So I mean,
I would think that if players were palling on to

(38:30):
it that it wouldn't seem likely. But the fact that
players have an affinity for John Grutin and and weren't
terribly taken back by some of the things that they
read and saw, I mean, I think that the possibilities
exist for redemption.

Speaker 5 (38:44):
He's also been there for a lot of fire coaches too,
so I think there's a lot of guys who were
at their lowest who want to see him get back
into it again and

Speaker 1 (38:52):
Coach yeah yeah so maybe maybe or just keep opening
boxes
