Speaker 2 (00:32):
Let's get this.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Two Pros and a
Cup of Coop here Fox Sports Radio, LeVar Arrington, Jonas Socks, and.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
We have a problem.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
By the way, I would like to say a tip
of the cap and a thank you to Justin Cooper
and Lorena who've been fantastic. A lot of moving parts
on today's show. You know, no it's not bye by back.
In fact, there's less movie. I'm back. By moving part,
I mean, you know, not moving fast enough to uh

(01:10):
to set an alarm, which is always what do you mean?
I've been sitting here for the last five hours. Unbelievable.
All right, So we were off and running here our
two of the program, and so this was this was interesting,
and we've made mention of this before that at some

(01:32):
point somebody's just got to stop the damn fight. And
that stopped the damn fight. Is for Joe Shane and
the New York Giants who just continue to be reminded
of the awful, awful decision it was to move on
and not try and get something done with a guy
like Saquon Barkley who wanted to be there, wanted to

(01:53):
stay there, wanted to be a giant, did everything he
possibly could to try and be a giant, and still
they decided, Man, we're going to go in a different direction.
According to the NFLPA, they reported on Wednesday that Saquon
Barkley led all NFL players and sales of officially licensed
product from March of twenty twenty four to February of
twenty twenty five, the first running back to be ranked

(02:17):
number one since Zeke in twenty seventeen. And I'm trying
to think of a free agent deal working out better
for a player than Saquon Barkley, and I can't think
of a lot of them. Maybe Reggie White in Green Bay,
Tom Brady and Tampa worked out well. That worked out well,

(02:40):
but Saquon Barkley and what has happened to him since
leaving the Giants and going to the Eagles, which were
obviously better set up and more conducive to his success
than the Giants would have been. But it's hard to
imagine one signing going as well for a player as
it has gone for your guys, Saquon Barkley.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
I'm sitting here thinking to myself who who would that
have worked out for? But I can't think of any
Brad Johnson, No, I mean, what do you mean? Look
him up when he left Washington to go to Tampa Bay.
Didn't he win the Super Bowl the very next year?

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Yeah, but I don't think anybody looks at that and
says he was a He was a starting quarterback. But
you know there was a lot of that defense was
really you know, that the problem. Yeah, but I think Brad.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Johnson was a major part. Bray lewis me who I mean,
moving on, moving moving off?

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Yeah, you know, steer clear that one.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
But he left a different team and and and rejoined
the Ravens.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Definitely did won won a Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
I definitely, uh, you know, regardless of if you could
literally if we could think of somebody that's comparable. It
wouldn't matter because the bottom line is it's such an
American story, right, Like, you go from being a guy
who wants to win and win in New York the

(04:18):
team that drafted you number two overall, which means they
invested a draft pick that says we truly value who
you are. During that course of time, he did absolutely
everything humanly possible for that team to win. The offense
went through Sakwon Barkley. Sure, he suffered some injuries that

(04:41):
caused concern, but with that being said, he just he
he just needed help and he just needed to be
in a position where he, you know, where he could
have success.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
And go ahead, go, I was just gonna make I
thought of a couple of more Drew Brees going to
New Orleans.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
He didn't win the Super Bowl the next year though, Yeah,
and he didn't have an MVP type year. But no,
I don't want to go. I don't want to take
away go god Drew Brees.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Who else?

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Peyton Manning would be another one, Okay, And it's really
Sakwan's on the short list, man Like, there's not a lot.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
Would you say Derrick Henry.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Didn't win a super Bowl, So I can't even put
it in. And it wasn't a you know, two thousand.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
Season, But did did Peyton Manning didn't win the Super
Bowl the very next year?

Speaker 3 (05:39):
And no?

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Did he?

Speaker 1 (05:40):
No, So we can't say that he hasn't won a
super Bowl and he just hasn't got one yet. Yeah,
I mean, and it's looked last year was his what
second year with the Ravens or his first first year?

Speaker 2 (05:51):
First year? Yeah, I mean, dang, give him some time.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Well, I'm just saying, like, as far as on the short.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
But did Drew Brees win a super Bowl the very
next year when he left? No, it was at least
three or four? Well, damn Jonas.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
Well, I'm just saying it like Saquon Barkley's on the
short list of greatest free agent signings in the history
of the NFL.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Yes, that's okay, Okay, I could see that that's a
much better, I guess discussion point. But and in fact
that he went, the fact that he was discarded the
way we're not going to pay a running back all
this money when we're paying or pay a quarterback all
this money to pay a running back to run the
ball like that's what you said. That was like, and

(06:34):
then you heard the pain in Saquon's voice, like almost
like almost to think that Saquon would possibly go somewhere
else and it not work out, which could have.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Very easily happened.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
He could have gone to a franchise and an organization
that might not have been as as well built and
prepared for the talent level that he was bringing to
the table, and it could have just ended bad and
the New York Giants dodge a bullet. But he went
to a good organization, a well ran organization, a well

(07:12):
built personnel you know that they have on their roster.
And you see what happens when a guy of that
caliber and that type of talent goes to a stable situation,
a well ran situation, which to me, that's sad because
I felt like the Giants ought were a well ran

(07:33):
organization when I was there. I don't, you know, but
listening to the way that took place, I don't know
any of those people other than the ownership that was
in the room. I don't know the GM I don't
know you know, the coaches, I don't know them. But
it just it gives way to the conversation of Wow,

(07:53):
if you thought there was no correlation between the decision
makers and what you see on the like it's like, oh, coaches, coach,
you know, players play, and that's what it is, and
that's why there's way more to it.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
There's way more to it. And you got a chance
to see that.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
You got a chance to see how people talk about
players and how they feel about it. And they were
willing to just let Saquon go for this reason, and
that reason wasn't even really valid reasons. They could have
found a way to pay that man that money, but
he wouldn't have been what Saquon is in Philly in
New York. So in a way, it's that American story

(08:33):
I talked about. It's the underdog story where a guy
that was on top went down. You know, he sounded
depressed on the call, like can't believe it, Like what
are you doing?

Speaker 2 (08:46):
You know what I'm doing? Mother, lover?

Speaker 1 (08:47):
What do you mean asking me what I'm doing? Okay, Well,
we're just letting you know that. You know, you could
go like you could go.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Like what we just you know, we're going to go
in a different direction, you know, and you've you've.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
You've talked about your time in New York and that
it was a first class organization through and true. And
so that's why I look at it and I go.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Like I said, I knew the ownership, guys that were in,
the owner who said what he said, but I don't.
I don't you know the other people they weren't like
Ernie A. Corsey was there, which I believe he was
the ultimate and true architect of the reason why those
teams won Super Bowls is Ernie A.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Corsey.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
And to me, Tom Coughlin was a dope coach. People
could say what they want to say about him, but
he is a dope ass coach and it's a well
ran organization. That's a you know, that's a great recipe.
But I don't see that in New York right now.
So I don't I don't know the people that are
there right now.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
And that that's why Joe Shane the GM is the
guy who's going to wear this for the rest of
his career. Right or wrong, He's going to get labeled
as he's the one who let Saquon walk. It's just
and certain. You know, made mention of this before, but
you know, Seth Greenberg of ESPN was the coach at
Virginia Tech, and he was the guy who said noice.

(10:13):
Steph Curry like, even though your dad played here and
he you know, he's a VA Tech alum, Seth Greenberg
was like, Noah, listen, we're not going to offer him.
And he's got to where that and he hears about
that constantly based on the career Steph Curry's had not
even so much in college. But but what happened to
him in the NBA. And so we're one year in
to Saquon Barkley becoming an Eagle and he's already got

(10:36):
all the breaks the merchandise sales according to the NFLPA
first running back to do that since twenty seventeen in
a league which, by the way, a year ago we
were told the running back position is dead. He went on,
rushed for two thousand yards, nearly broke the single season record,
won a Super Bowl, got the mad and cover. Everything

(10:58):
is hit for him. Every it's gone as as perfectly
as it could have possibly gone. And it's to the
arch rival of the team, and you're Joe Shane, You've
just got to wear this for the rest of your career.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
That what makes it worse is that it couldn't have
happened to a better person. That's what makes it worse,
Like if it was someone, oh, you know, you know,
just using you as an example, I ain't saying you're
a bad person, but yeah, but just imagine if he
had had the pictures with the toosy, the tousy and

(11:31):
and and was on on you know, the boat with
with all yeah, all these these these young ladies and
you're surrounded and it's not as if he had anything
that that flagged him as a checkered past or or
this person has done wrong. He has been an upstanding,

(11:52):
upright positive representation of the game, an ambassador of the game.
He was a strong representation and gave hope to Giants
fans and then he did the same thing to where
he landed in Philadelphia. So it couldn't have happened to
a better person. You actually allowed and the owner said it.

(12:15):
He's easily one of the most loved, beloved, like well
admired athletes players that we've had, like we've had like ever,
like ever, right, Like imagine if it was like if
it was LT, Like, let's not look as far as
LT you like, we're gonna go in a different direction.

(12:36):
You're gonna be like, ah, he's the greatest of all time.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
You can't.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
But man, maybe he might not be available, you know,
maybe something could go wrong. Like there's ways of finding
things that can help a fan justify and get through
the pain of losing one of its favorite players. There's
zero boxes checked off off and getting rid of Saquon Barkley.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
Zero thinks, so Joe Shang live with it.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
Yeah, I I'm trying to like, how do you justify
the decision? It can't it's not And by the way,
it wasn't even like they broke the bank to pay him,
Like the Eagles came back after one year, We're like, hey,
we're going to give you a bump because we realized
for I think it was making thirteen and change on
his contract as a running back. And then when he

(13:28):
did agree to you know, when he wanted to stay
there long term and they weren't going to give him
the deal and they franchised him. You remember that was
the same offseason Josh Jacobs got franchised and they decided
to franchise Saquon Barkley. He had every right to no
show camp, not to show up at the very last
minute and be like, man, I'm just you know, pull

(13:50):
a Tray Hendrickson or whatever you want to do, just
not be there, and instead showed up on time I
think might have even been early and just said listen,
I'm not happy about it, but I to my teammates
he handled everything perfectly and still let him walk. And
he walks right into a super Bowl and he might
be a Hall of Famer because of this time with Philly,

(14:11):
like he might be.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
Not to mention.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
What happened and how it all went with the quarterback
that seemingly they made it a choo choosy situation, which
was a horrible play as well, like to make it
a choosy situation between Daniel Jones and Sakwon Barkley. Now
we're talking about Daniel Jones and where's where's the where's the.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
Brand new, brand new starter for the Colts?

Speaker 2 (14:37):
Right there you go, So there you go. He's not
even in New York anymore.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
So imagine if if Daniel Jones goes and there are
some people that are calling the Colts a dark horse.
Some people think that the Colts are are built to
have a really good season. If if they can get
strong quarterback play. So imagine if Daniel Jones goes and
balls out and you see a rematch, or not a rematch,

(15:08):
but you see a reunion of sorts between Saquon and
Daniel Jones and the Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
Imagine that you think Joe Shane will be watching.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
I would assume that he might have time to watch
if that were to happen. Probably wouldn't you wouldn't you
wouldn't you be on FaceTime or set up a zoom
call immediately upon the announcement of the Colts winning the
AFC Divisional Championship Round and the Philadelphia Eagles winning the

(15:44):
NFC Divisional Championship Round and are going to.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
Meet in the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
Wouldn't you be on a call that Monday to talk
through things face to face on zoom or in the
office that one that one might even be jump on
the jet, go back to the facility. We're meeting in
the office, Like how do you get out of the
way of it? Yeah, if Daniel Jones has a career

(16:10):
year next year and Sakwon Barkley continues to do what
he's doing, that because it says something about the environment
that that you've created as a GM. Yeah, so he'd
have time. It's a it's a rough way to go.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
But listen, he's got uh, you know, he's got James
Winston and uh Russell Wilson.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
Do uh to take you Jackson throw some of the
sting off?

Speaker 3 (16:31):
Yeah, there you go. So I don't know about all that,
but it is Two Pros and a Cup of Joe
here on Fox Sports Radio, LaVar Arrington, Jonas Knox with
you so coming up next here. Listen, this is the
hottest room in the NFL. I mean, a story every
single day. We'll give you the very latest right here.

Speaker 4 (16:49):
N FSR be sure to catch live editions of Two
Pros and a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington,
and Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three ams. It.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
I think the Pink Pony Club is in West Hollywood. Heck,
it's a real place.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
But who's singing? Is this? Katie Perry chapel Roone? Who
chapel Roone? Chaperone like Chappelle, like if it was gonna
be Chappelle like, oh stop it stop what you've never
heard of chapelone? No, you know what? And and do

(17:29):
you know why, Because I got this thing about bad music.
I don't listen to it. Oh jeez, for whatever reason.
I don't know, it's just maybe it's just me. Maybe
it's just me. Well, this is actually a fun fact.
You want to hear it? Sure?

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Sure?

Speaker 3 (17:43):
This song is actually the unofficial anthem for the Edmonton
Oilers hockey team, no kidding. And they're down to one
who Okay, sweet, now I feel less confident about but
that might pick for the Oilers to win that series.

(18:03):
So there's that, all right, Knocks locks.

Speaker 5 (18:07):
Oh gosh, it's ridiculous. By the way, if anybody, if anybody,
Pony Club, if anybody realized how appropriate that song was
for this show and the circus tent we are currently
doing and broadcasting from, if anybody new, and they could

(18:30):
probably figure it out by now, all right, I think so.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
I don't know, I mean, I don't know. Maybe not
a little over fifteen minutes from now, we are going
to hand out an award on this show. It is
award season for us, and it is an award day
this week, so we are going to hand one hand
one out. That'll be yours here again. A little over
fifteen minutes from now, all right, So the most discussed
room in the NFL is the Cleveland Browns quarterback room.

(18:57):
There's a lot to discuss there. I mean, you could
make a reality show of just the Browns quarterback room.
Whether it's forty year old Joe Flacco, you're given it
one last run after winning a super Bowl with the
organization that left Cleveland to go win a super Bowl
and multiple Super Bowls with whether it's that, whether it's

(19:19):
Shador Sanders, Dylan Gabriel taken in the same draft, Kenny Pickett,
who was a Steeler, went cross state to Philly, won
a Super Bowl as a backup, and now he's in
Cleveland potentially vying for a role on that roster. Or
Deshaun Watson who just had a bachelor party and is
recovering from a rerupture of his achilles after rerupturing his

(19:42):
reputation with all the grab Lab visits you know, a
couple of years ago. All that, there's enough storylines on
just the Browns quarterback room that you could fill an
entire offseason. But Joe Flacco, he's looking around at the
reps and the splitting up of the reps as far
as hey, you know, who's gonna get a shot here,

(20:02):
Who's gonna get a shot there? Here was Flacco discussing
the plan for the REP split at mini camp with Cleveland.

Speaker 6 (20:10):
I don't know what the plan is but exactly, but
you know, I trust Kevin and that he has a
plan for all this, and yeah, that's really all I
can do. You know, Listen, I'd love to go out
there and take one hundred and twenty reps a day
and get in the groove and do all those things.
But like I said, the coaches have a plan, Kevin
has a plan, and my job is to just trust that,
go out there and do the best I can do.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
You think Joe Flacco and Stefanski look at each other
sometimes and go, what the hell are we dealing with here?
Like why do we have to deal with all this?
Like what? Like why can't we just go and just
try and win enough games to save jobs? And instead
we've got two drafted quarterbacks we traded for Kenny Pickett,

(20:52):
We've got all the other stuff going on, Like can
we just can we just get back to the good
old days when Deshaun Watson you couldn't depend on because
the hell than other issues and Joe Flacco could just
come in for five games and win comeback Player of
the Year simpler times a couple of years ago in Cleveland.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
You know, Flaco is a journeyman now an old one too,
and damn well, I just think you got to make
sure that you keep things in the proper context. This
isn't the team's franchise quarterback, their player four years to come.

(21:29):
So Flacco knows what he knows about what he knows,
and that's it. It doesn't go any further than that.
Whatever it is that they decide they want to do,
it has zero commentary and nod and sign off from
Joe Flacco, whether he trusts Stefanski or not. You're here

(21:52):
for a reason. That's a reason that they know inside
the organization. That doesn't necessarily mean that Joe Flacco's all
the way clear, which he probably isn't going to be
all the way clear on what they.

Speaker 2 (22:06):
May want to do.

Speaker 1 (22:07):
What they may want to do may change by the week,
It may change by the day. I don't know that
Stefanski knows what the plan is, you know. So you're
you're in a situation where it is such a fluid
situation and it's almost to take it as it comes,
but you do have to figure out who's getting the reps.

(22:30):
And I listen, I'm I'm i'm an. I ain't gonna
I'm not gonna be petty, but I mean maybe I am.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
I look at.

Speaker 1 (22:38):
Clips too, and I look at clips from shows as well.
I don't study them super hard. I just see them.
But I did see in the same clip where I
was being referenced as one of those guys in media
or one of those guys that works here. Why would
you start shador Sanders, I'll say, I'll double down on

(22:58):
what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (23:00):
Well, can I ask you a question. Who's who made
the comment?

Speaker 1 (23:04):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (23:05):
Rob Parker made it?

Speaker 3 (23:06):
Rob, Yeah, the guy who had a glizzy in his mouth.

Speaker 1 (23:11):
Dang, here's here's what I'm gonna say. And he can't
understand the logical I had a glizzy in my mouth.

Speaker 2 (23:17):
That guy, oh gosh, he should seeks to he should
seeks to speak on anything after him.

Speaker 1 (23:23):
I'm not trying to start no no in in you
know sports, you know Fox Sports Radio all started. I'm
not trying to start no beef. But Rob, come on, man,
Like my whole thing is looking at the scenario that's
going on in Cleveland right now. No one is good

(23:45):
enough to say they should be the starter. I'm gonna
let that one sink in. I'm gonna let that one
sink in, and then I'll go from here and say this,
Shador Sanders is getting.

Speaker 3 (24:04):
All of the all.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
Of the pub all of the highlights coming out of Cleveland,
all of the conversations coming out of Cleveland, which are
big topic conversations on all the network shows. It's showing
Shador Sanders. And now the narrative arises, oh, well, he's
doing that against the third team, He's doing that against

(24:29):
the fourth string.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
Dada, this is not they're all pros.

Speaker 1 (24:34):
Lady and gentlemen. Let me say that one more time.
We're not talking about youth football league. We're not talking
about high school football. We're not talking about college football.
We are talking about the pros. So, whether you are.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
First string, second string, third string.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
What are they?

Speaker 2 (24:57):
Jonas? Are they? No? I just told you what they are.
They're they're pros. They're pros. I mean, I mean, what
what are they are they not? Are they not a pro?

Speaker 5 (25:13):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (25:13):
Or no?

Speaker 3 (25:13):
Yeah, they're pros. But there is no butt. They're a pro.

Speaker 1 (25:18):
So if they do, you know how many people are
sitting at home wishing they could say, I'm a pro.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
Oh I got you. I'm just.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
So this whole, this whole idea like to make it
generic that a guy that is on on a team,
that that's in coverage or that's the receiver, is somehow
some way disqualified because they're not the number one.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
Let's look at the amount.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
Look at the amount of guys that have taken third string,
second string snaps coming out of college and that are
now in the Hall of Fame. Go look that one up.
When you get some time, you'll see guys that have
been cut. They were journeymen, they were you know, you know,
injury was the reason why they got an opportunity.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
All kinds of different stories.

Speaker 1 (26:07):
Connected to how guys make it to the pros, I mean,
to the Hall of Fame, and which, by the way,
are some extraordinary stories because more often than not, they
come from obscurity. They weren't the chosen one at every
single level. But this idea, this notion that you can
disqualify what Shador Sanders is doing with those highlights that

(26:31):
continue to surface is because of the level of talent
that he's going up against. That's an on my that
comes up with a red X. That one isn't on
the board. You're not going to score points, you're not.
You got two more misses like that doesn't that doesn't
qualify you're there.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
You're there. Yeah, if you're there, you're there.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
It's like when Steeler fans there's been this notion that
Steeler fans aren't thrilled with the Aaron Rodgers signing, and
it's like, dude, you're not in a position to dictate
terms to anybody, Like you're not in a position to
complain or rank anything. At this point, you needed a quarterback,
Rogers is the best available. Now you just roll with that.
So to your point on the Browns quarterback situation, it's

(27:13):
not like Flacco signed a six year deal. It's not
like Kenny Pickett's on a five year deal, you know,
with a with a player option for a sixth. These
are one year deals. And you've got rookie quarterbacks there
and a weirdo who's not on the field, and he's
the main reason why they're in this position. So everybody
is a live dog to be the start of a

(27:34):
Cleveland The idea, how do you how do you.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
Figure out who's going to take all of the reps
if you're not giving Flacco many reps? Like I heard
them also saying that SoundBite that, well, it's Flacco and
he's a vet. We know what he can do. He
doesn't have to take any any reps. He doesn't have
to do anything.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
He is not.

Speaker 1 (27:57):
The franchise quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. So how do
you sit there and say, oh, we're going why because
of how many years he has in the league. That
man just came in as a free agent back to
your team. By the way, you let him go. You
brought him back if he was that, if he was

(28:19):
so good, why did you let him go?

Speaker 3 (28:22):
And also the other part, like I believe Joe Flacco
is going to be named the starter. That that's my belief.
I think Flacco will give the opportunity to start the season.
But if they decided we're gonna see what we got
in Shitto or Dylan Gabriel, I get it. Like, it's
not like this is a ballsy Oh boy, what a
gutsy call. No, they're looking around going we're kind of

(28:46):
in a difficult spot here. Kevin Stefanski is Basically his
job is depending on a front office and an owner
that has put him in difficult situations as a head coach.
As far as quarterbacks go, they just have like he's
not had a lot of luck as far as a
we're gonna we made a move and it's gonna work out.
Other than the Joe Flacco decision, Look, he won a

(29:09):
playoff game with Baker Mayfield. He wasn't there because of
COVID and whatnot, but he won a playoff game with
Baker Mayfield. Gone, they go out and they signed to
Sean Watson, can't depend on him. They bring in Joe Flacco,
go to the playoffs again, then they let Joe Flaka walk.
They've put Stefanski in a really difficult spot. So the
idea of that, it's this far fetched thought that the

(29:30):
Shadoor Sanders would be named the starter. It's not anything
is on the table in Cleveland.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
I don't think it's far fetched to just put him
out to start and position now. Just let him take
starting rep. I would rather him take starting reps now
than take starting reps and training camp.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
Let that one seeink in.

Speaker 1 (29:52):
I'd rather if you're going to give starting reps to
guys like your third round pick, like your draft picks.

Speaker 2 (29:59):
Do it now, do it now? Do it now? So
how many reps are you going to be able to get?
How many?

Speaker 1 (30:09):
Like when you're a starter in the National Football League,
they generally get all of the reps. The only way
you're able to get impactful reps as a backup is
really if you're running plays, and you're running plays off
of cards, so and you're running them against the starting defense.

(30:29):
That's how you get reps is by being the scout team,
the scout team quarterback. And now even though you're running,
you're running cards, and we know the play because we're
studying the opponent's offense, you're still able to get the
reads and the understanding. You're able to put it on
film what you're doing against a starting defense.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
So you know what you do.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
You know what you do because you're not preparing for
you're not preparing for any any games right now. You're
just implementing your installing and you're getting reps if you're
if you're running a traditional style off a practice practice sheet,

(31:16):
a practice schedule, you're going to have periods for your defense.
You're going to have periods for your offense. Why not
just choose to during the defensive periods? Why not make
those offensive periods just like the defense is. It's it's
defense centric, it's defense heavy. But so what still be

(31:39):
taking taking reps as these are reps for the Cleveland
Browns offense, not for an opponent that you're going to see.
And then now you have the starter, the starter over here,
he's over here, you know, and and air quotes. He's
on the other field doing what he's doing with the

(32:00):
starting offense. And you have another set of quarterbacks. So
have a set of quarterbacks with the starting group, have
another set of quarterbacks with the scout group. But you're
running the same plays in both places.

Speaker 2 (32:16):
You see what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
So now you can split those you can split those
reps between the two guys that are running those reps
with those two units, even though one is going is
servicing the starting defense and the other one is being
serviced by a scout team defense.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
It's OTA's it's.

Speaker 1 (32:34):
Mini camps, even in training camp until we get to
a point where we're starting to do things that are
preparing for teams. I feel like having four quarterbacks and
four quarterbacks getting an opportunity to be what they're going
to be. To structure a practice this way would be impactful.
It would be very impactful. Unless they're practicing and everyone

(32:55):
is together, if everyone all every single one, first string,
second string there, I don't. I don't even know that
there is really a fourth string that exists.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
I don't think there's a fourth string. I think you
go through third string and then that's pretty much it.
But I could be wrong. I don't recall ever seeing
a fourth or fifth string. But if all of them
are together and they're doing all of their all of
their they're parts of the practice schedule together, which I've
never seen that either, then that that that's problematic and

(33:28):
you should have a better plan approach to your practices.
You should be able to get your player's reps even
if you have four quarterbacks on your on your roster.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
But that's just me.

Speaker 3 (33:39):
Thinking out loud, you know, you know it's hilarious like that,
like just in thinking about this out loud, that's crazy
talk that Shador should be named the starter. Now you
know what crazy talk is giving DeShawn Watson two hundred
and thirty million dollars guarantee.

Speaker 1 (33:53):
Yeah, that's that's the crazy talk. And he's not even
in the conversation for the job.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
Where's DeShawn He's at his bachelor party. Sweet, you got a.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
Quarterback, You got a quarterback dilemma, and the main one,
the most highest paid one, and.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
Even in the conversation about it. That's you've already started.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
That's preposterous, Okay, all right, unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (34:19):
