day Bole and Sirianni coach together two, so like you've
got a ton of familiarity between staffs, and and even
like San Francisco versus Dallas. Dan Queen's the head coach

in Atlanta with Kyle Shananaz's job. So there's I mean,
and that's what makes I think these games interesting Schematically
watching like series to series, you know how they change point.
That is a great point. So you gotta assume that
dan quinn is probably feeling confident about being that one
coach that can make a case for going to get

a really really good hit coaching job if he can
slow down number one or number two most most prolific
play caller in the playoffs right now, I will give
number one to Andy Reid just because that's seniority and
what he's been able to do. Doug Peterson definitely should
be in the conversation, but no doubt about it. You
could debate that Kyle Shanahan is the hottest prolific play

has to get a job if they win this, right, yes,

again a little over fifteen minutes from now. So the
forty Niners find themselves in an advantageous situation because they've
got some extra rest against the Dallas Cowboys. The Niners
played last Saturday, the Cowboys played this past Monday. Now
they're going to be meeting up on Sunday night, the
final game of the Divisional round of the playoffs. It's
at San Francisco. The Niners are still a favorite in
(20:20):
this game. There anywhere from a three and a half
to a four point favorite, depending on where you look,
mostly a four. And so Kyle Shanahan was asked about
whether or not they've got an advantage with this extra rest,
and here's what you had to say. I think it
can be advantaged. Sometimes it can be a disadvantage. So
I know the obvious ones that you know, you get
less rest less time to recover. You know, I love
having more time and stuff, but and sometimes you feel

like you can't play those Thursday night games and you
get to it and your team is just off the
wall because they just they haven't so down at all
and by this time, And I don't think it is
about recovery. It's about detail, and it's about executing, and
it's about playing at a high level once you get
to games, especially in the playoffs, that recovery, I mean
people forget about pretty quickly. And just watching the Rams
last year, I mean they beat the Cardinals as good

as anyone, and then they flew all the way to Tampa,
and I think they were up zero at halftime, so
it means anything, all right, So are you guys is
his father's son, boy, I'll tell you that. I just
I love the fact that, like, if he's gonna say something,
he's gonna have stuff to back it up. Like he's
well researched. He understands, you know, what to kind of

touch on to get people to go all right. Yeah,
that's a good point, all right. I guess I guess
on his side on this one. Remember that Cowboys game
against the Eagles on Christmas Christmas Eve? It was Christmas Eve.
That was the cow was like the most watched game
all your right, Yeah, that was the cat. I think
the Giants on Thanksgiving was that. That was still a

massive number, but that wasna Christmas guy. Not as big
on Thanksgiving. Um, that was the Cowboys last home game.
So they've been on the road for a while now
and they're getting a short week to go all the
way to say San Francisco. It just feels like Dallas
is up against it here and and I don't know

if if if there's anything to what he's saying at
this point in the season, it's not about you know,
I mean some of that stuff can be a disadvantage
or whatever. I mean, it just it does feel like
San Francisco's got everything going in their direction. Here in
Dallas is going to be in a tough spot. Despite
what they did on mine in NFL Ball, I think
Dallas came out with a really, really well thought out

game plan against Tampa Bay. Now, Tampa Bay is not
the team that San Francisco is right now, but I
don't I don't feel as though looking at this matchup now,
after they're showing going to Tampa and winning the way
(22:50):
that they did in such emphatic form and fashion, that
they can't go into Santa Santa Clara and do the
same exact thing. So while I for me, you know,
I've said it all year, They're going to go off
the rails at some point, But the way they performed
(23:11):
in this last game, I'm gonna give them the benefit
of the doubt. I'm not I don't think they will win.
I'm definitely going to take the Niners in this game
to win, but I would not be after the way
they they performed last weekend. I would not be surprised
if they win this game. I would not and I
would not find myself saying that outside of what it
(23:35):
is that I experienced when watching them played last weekend.
This Lion, I think at one point was three and
a half. It's moved a little bit to four now. Um,
and I just I think this game all comes down
to whether or not dan Quinn we kind of touched
on it. If he could put this game on Broad
Purty's shoulders, that's that's gonna be where we truly get

to see what Pretty's capable of. I know we look
back at that Raiders game, so I went toe to
toe a Jarrett stid him. Different stage, different circumstances. Now
like this is the playoffs, everything moves a little faster,
the windows a little tighter. I just think this is
that moment where if the Cowboys defense is able to
do it, they got to stop the run. You know,

they're twenty two in the league against the run. During
the course of the regular season, they're like seventeen that
thinks something like that in yards per a tempt. They
just haven't been that good and stopping the run. And
you know that's what Kyle Shanahan is going to do,
and his variety of ways of doing it, whether it's
putting Deebo back there or Christian McCaffrey back there, all
(24:40):
the little different chess pieces he uses, and that's that's
the fun part. Like he knows what dan Quinn's gonna
do personnel wise, like how he's gonna try to match
up when Christian McCaffrey is out in the slot, or
Christian McCaffrey's out at wide, or Deebo Sam is in
the backfield, or they're both in the backfield, Like he's
gonna have an idea either from home or from their

their starters. They're openers, how dan Quinn and how the
Cowboys what personnel we're gonna put out there, and how
they're gonna line up against it. And then once he knows,
then that's where the game starts. And he starts putting
guys in positions either through shifting and motion to get
two edges and then find ways of creating creases. I mean,
every single week when I watched back the forty Niners games,

there are lanes to run through, Like no, Lie, you
could drive on f one through Like I'm not making
that up, Like you literally looking and go, my god,
you could drive a truck through there and and I
just don't know. I mean, and by the way, in
a game in football where he only takes a few
big plays, because you've got McCaffrey as a home run hitter,
you got Deebo who's a home run hitter their backfield
(25:45):
as Mitchell like like the guys, they've got our home
run hitters. They got a lot of speed. It doesn't
take much. And then I didn't even touch on George Kittle.
I didn't even touch on Brent and I you you
know other guys who can create big plays too, off
the play action or off the boot game. So I
think they are maybe the most difficult matchup for any
(26:06):
team because of the variety of pieces they have and
how they use them. But that it all really centers
around the quarterback. Though. If he can't distribute the football,
if he can't play competent, you know, then I think
Dallas has a legit shot of going in there and
shocking people. It's also just so hard to trust Dallas
because we've mentioned it during the course of the year.
There's always a game where you go really like, you
(26:27):
get your hopes up, and next thing you know, it's
they roll out that and it just I don't know,
man I I keep I don't know which way to go.
Is it my lack of trust in Dallas being able
to be consistent, or just assuming that at some point
brock Purdy's gonna struggle like he's gonna have he's gonna
show that he's a rookie, and you know, dan Quinn
(26:48):
figures him out. As as you said, this is this
is the game. I can't decide on which direction I
want to go. I feel pretty good about all the
other ones, but when we do our picks, I'm just
letting you know right now, I got a lot to
think about over the next several minutes, and I know
you're waiting and you probably that's a whole lot to
thing about. It a little bit of time to think about.
But I'm gonna be able to cram it in during

the commercial break and have have an actual pick. But
I don't know, man, I just I can't figure out
what direction I want to go with this game. I
don't know. But Dallas and my my, Dallas's inability to
just string together success, especially in the playoffs with Dak Prescott,
to me, that's that's kind of a glaring issue. I

just kind of feel like they dispelled that last weekend
because again for their struggles, Tampa stinks though. Yeah, but
that that's that would further the point is that they
would lose to a team that probably stunk anyway. So
the fact that they came in and they were they
handled the business against the team that well we say stinks, right,

they made them look like they stink, and that's what
you want to see. So regardless of of anything right now,
I think you gotta look at the matchup and you
gotta take the match up seriously and not that to
me is pretty exciting because the last time you had
to take a Dallas forty nine ers uh playoff games seriously,
you know Emmett Smith and Dion Sanders and Michael Irving

and you know who was on the other side of
the harbor. Well yeah, I mean yeah, that's that's just
Dallas's side. Then you go to the forty niners side
and what you got, uh Merton Hanks. Okay, yeah, but
but it was Martin still there when d All went
to Dallas. Yeah, I think so. Yeah, Lee wood All,
maybe maybe I love when Jonas throws out names. I'll

throw you off. Ricky Waters was Ricky Waters. Still Ricky
Waters are still there? Pretty Ricky, pretty Ricky is what
they called. He was still there. Um, he was a
big back. It is the closest spread all weekend. So
they are saying that there is there is respect, you know,
for Dallas based on last week and how this this
whole matchup is. But that's good question. Is it an

overreaction to a team that was a losing team that
won their division? I got That's my one concern and
looking at it is do we look at the dominance
that Dallas played with last week in Tampa and go, oh, yeah, no,
that's that's the Cowboys man, that they're back. They're gonna
win this thing. Or do we go, yeah, Tip actually
stunk this year, Like we kind of got fooled into

thinking that they were gonna be something they weren't just
because it's playoff time. They have Tom Brady. That's more
of my concern with how this game could turn out.

of intel that that Andy Reid will probably be able
to give to which, by the way, spags is familiar
with Doug Peterson because well they matched up in the
NFC East UM on different different teams, right, So when

you think about it, when you think about that, and
and just so people know, Spagnola was the defense coordinator
for the Giants, um Peterson was with with the Eagles.
So now you're talking about a circle or triangle people
that are familiar with each other, um in terms of
how they approached coaching. I think I just think that

this matchup is it's it's super intriguing, man, super intriguing.
I agree. Like, by the way, you got a few
like that because you just mentioned Giants Eagles. You know,
day Bole and Sirianni coach together two, so like you've
got a ton of familiarity between staffs, and and even
like San Francisco versus Dallas. Dan Queen's the head coach

in Atlanta with Kyle Shananaz's job. So there's I mean,
and that's what makes I think these games interesting Schematically
watching like series to series, you know how they change point.
That is a great point. So you gotta assume that
dan quinn is probably feeling confident about being that one
coach that can make a case for going to get

a really really good hit coaching job if he can
slow down number one or number two most most prolific
play caller in the playoffs right now, I will give
number one to Andy Reid just because that's seniority and
what he's been able to do. Doug Peterson definitely should
be in the conversation, but no doubt about it. You
could debate that Kyle Shanahan is the hottest prolific play

caller in in the NFL. Right now, the entire Quinn
has to get a job if they win this, right, yes,
I mean it's especially if they have a strong showing
on defense. It's over. Where do you think he goes? Though?
Never's first pick is he was one of the final
interviews for Denver last year, but maybe maybe he isn't

forty Niners find themselves in an advantageous situation because they've
got some extra rest against the Dallas Cowboys. The Niners
played last Saturday, the Cowboys played this past Monday. Now
they're going to be meeting up on Sunday night, the
final game of the Divisional round of the playoffs. It's
at San Francisco. The Niners are still a favorite in
(20:20):
this game. There anywhere from a three and a half
to a four point favorite, depending on where you look,
mostly a four. And so Kyle Shanahan was asked about
whether or not they've got an advantage with this extra rest,
and here's what you had to say. I think it
can be advantaged. Sometimes it can be a disadvantage. So
I know the obvious ones that you know, you get
less rest less time to recover. You know, I love
having more time and stuff, but and sometimes you feel
(20:44):
like you can't play those Thursday night games and you
get to it and your team is just off the
wall because they just they haven't so down at all
and by this time, And I don't think it is
about recovery. It's about detail, and it's about executing, and
it's about playing at a high level once you get
to games, especially in the playoffs, that recovery, I mean
people forget about pretty quickly. And just watching the Rams
last year, I mean they beat the Cardinals as good
(21:04):
as anyone, and then they flew all the way to Tampa,
and I think they were up zero at halftime, so
it means anything, all right, So are you guys is
his father's son, boy, I'll tell you that. I just
I love the fact that, like, if he's gonna say something,
he's gonna have stuff to back it up. Like he's
well researched. He understands, you know, what to kind of
(21:25):
touch on to get people to go all right. Yeah,
that's a good point, all right. I guess I guess
on his side on this one. Remember that Cowboys game
against the Eagles on Christmas Christmas Eve? It was Christmas Eve.
That was the cow was like the most watched game
all your right, Yeah, that was the cat. I think
the Giants on Thanksgiving was that. That was still a

massive number, but that wasna Christmas guy. Not as big
on Thanksgiving. Um, that was the Cowboys last home game.
So they've been on the road for a while now
and they're getting a short week to go all the
way to say San Francisco. It just feels like Dallas
is up against it here and and I don't know

if if if there's anything to what he's saying at
this point in the season, it's not about you know,
I mean some of that stuff can be a disadvantage
or whatever. I mean, it just it does feel like
San Francisco's got everything going in their direction. Here in
Dallas is going to be in a tough spot. Despite
what they did on mine in NFL Ball, I think
Dallas came out with a really, really well thought out
(22:29):
game plan against Tampa Bay. Now, Tampa Bay is not
the team that San Francisco is right now, but I
don't I don't feel as though looking at this matchup now,
after they're showing going to Tampa and winning the way
(22:50):
that they did in such emphatic form and fashion, that
they can't go into Santa Santa Clara and do the
same exact thing. So while I for me, you know,
I've said it all year, They're going to go off
the rails at some point, But the way they performed
(23:11):
in this last game, I'm gonna give them the benefit
of the doubt. I'm not I don't think they will win.
I'm definitely going to take the Niners in this game
to win, but I would not be after the way
they they performed last weekend. I would not be surprised
if they win this game. I would not and I
would not find myself saying that outside of what it
(23:35):
is that I experienced when watching them played last weekend.
This Lion, I think at one point was three and
a half. It's moved a little bit to four now. Um,
and I just I think this game all comes down
to whether or not dan Quinn we kind of touched
on it. If he could put this game on Broad
Purty's shoulders, that's that's gonna be where we truly get

to see what Pretty's capable of. I know we look
back at that Raiders game, so I went toe to
toe a Jarrett stid him. Different stage, different circumstances. Now
like this is the playoffs, everything moves a little faster,
the windows a little tighter. I just think this is
that moment where if the Cowboys defense is able to
do it, they got to stop the run. You know,
(24:20):
they're twenty two in the league against the run. During
the course of the regular season, they're like seventeen that
thinks something like that in yards per a tempt. They
just haven't been that good and stopping the run. And
you know that's what Kyle Shanahan is going to do,
and his variety of ways of doing it, whether it's
putting Deebo back there or Christian McCaffrey back there, all

the little different chess pieces he uses, and that's that's
the fun part. Like he knows what dan Quinn's gonna
do personnel wise, like how he's gonna try to match
up when Christian McCaffrey is out in the slot, or
Christian McCaffrey's out at wide, or Deebo Sam is in
the backfield, or they're both in the backfield, Like he's
gonna have an idea either from home or from their

their starters. They're openers, how dan Quinn and how the
Cowboys what personnel we're gonna put out there, and how
they're gonna line up against it. And then once he knows,
then that's where the game starts. And he starts putting
guys in positions either through shifting and motion to get
two edges and then find ways of creating creases. I mean,
every single week when I watched back the forty Niners games,

there are lanes to run through, Like no, Lie, you
could drive on f one through Like I'm not making
that up, Like you literally looking and go, my god,
you could drive a truck through there and and I
just don't know. I mean, and by the way, in
a game in football where he only takes a few
big plays, because you've got McCaffrey as a home run hitter,
you got Deebo who's a home run hitter their backfield
(25:45):
as Mitchell like like the guys, they've got our home
run hitters. They got a lot of speed. It doesn't
take much. And then I didn't even touch on George Kittle.
I didn't even touch on Brent and I you you
know other guys who can create big plays too, off
the play action or off the boot game. So I
think they are maybe the most difficult matchup for any
(26:06):
team because of the variety of pieces they have and
how they use them. But that it all really centers
around the quarterback. Though. If he can't distribute the football,
if he can't play competent, you know, then I think
Dallas has a legit shot of going in there and
shocking people. It's also just so hard to trust Dallas
because we've mentioned it during the course of the year.
There's always a game where you go really like, you
(26:27):
get your hopes up, and next thing you know, it's
they roll out that and it just I don't know,
man I I keep I don't know which way to go.
Is it my lack of trust in Dallas being able
to be consistent, or just assuming that at some point
brock Purdy's gonna struggle like he's gonna have he's gonna
show that he's a rookie, and you know, dan Quinn
(26:48):
figures him out. As as you said, this is this
is the game. I can't decide on which direction I
want to go. I feel pretty good about all the
other ones, but when we do our picks, I'm just
letting you know right now, I got a lot to
think about over the next several minutes, and I know
you're waiting and you probably that's a whole lot to
thing about. It a little bit of time to think about.
But I'm gonna be able to cram it in during

the commercial break and have have an actual pick. But
I don't know, man, I just I can't figure out
what direction I want to go with this game. I
don't know. But Dallas and my my, Dallas's inability to
just string together success, especially in the playoffs with Dak Prescott,
to me, that's that's kind of a glaring issue. I

just kind of feel like they dispelled that last weekend
because again for their struggles, Tampa stinks though. Yeah, but
that that's that would further the point is that they
would lose to a team that probably stunk anyway. So
the fact that they came in and they were they
handled the business against the team that well we say stinks, right,

they made them look like they stink, and that's what
you want to see. So regardless of of anything right now,
I think you gotta look at the matchup and you
gotta take the match up seriously and not that to
me is pretty exciting because the last time you had
to take a Dallas forty nine ers uh playoff games seriously,
you know Emmett Smith and Dion Sanders and Michael Irving

and you know who was on the other side of
the harbor. Well yeah, I mean yeah, that's that's just
Dallas's side. Then you go to the forty niners side
and what you got, uh Merton Hanks. Okay, yeah, but
but it was Martin still there when d All went
to Dallas. Yeah, I think so. Yeah, Lee wood All,
maybe maybe I love when Jonas throws out names. I'll

throw you off. Ricky Waters was Ricky Waters. Still Ricky
Waters are still there? Pretty Ricky, pretty Ricky is what
they called. He was still there. Um, he was a
big back. It is the closest spread all weekend. So
they are saying that there is there is respect, you know,
for Dallas based on last week and how this this
whole matchup is. But that's good question. Is it an

overreaction to a team that was a losing team that
won their division? I got That's my one concern and
looking at it is do we look at the dominance
that Dallas played with last week in Tampa and go, oh, yeah, no,
that's that's the Cowboys man, that they're back. They're gonna
win this thing. Or do we go, yeah, Tip actually
stunk this year, Like we kind of got fooled into

thinking that they were gonna be something they weren't just
because it's playoff time. They have Tom Brady. That's more
of my concern with how this game could turn out.
