Speaker 1 (00:00):
Oh, good morning everybody. Man.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
A top three list that will make your palm sweaty
is what we're going to dive into here shortly. We're

(00:23):
All right, Jeff, So we hit on this and we
won't drag this out too long. Because the Seahawks beat
the Bears last night six to three. That was the score,
six to three. The underhit comfortably.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Right, I think I would say so, yes.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Yes, no points scored in the second half, not a one,
not one point. That's that's pretty hard to do in
an NFL game. But here we are, and so listen.
The Bears are a disaster. You have all these chants
of selling the team. You gotta get capables, a head
coach that knows what he's doing, right. It was stupid
(01:04):
that they brought Matt Eberflus back for essentially a lame
duck here made no sense.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
This is going to happen. It was no surprise, not.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
A shock at all.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
So this what gets me thinking, Jeff, is if you
look at the first year quarterbacks, right and the second
year quarterbacks, if you look at all the quarterbacks from
the last two draft classes. Okay, all right, if you're
coming up with your top three list of who you
(01:32):
think will have the best careers, Okay, I'm curious what
your top three list looks like because obviously we've got
Caleb Williams as a rookie quarterback, and you start thinking
about this current draft class, it's really tricky, right where
Michael Pennix Junior has barely played. JJ McCarthy hasn't played
(01:53):
at all, and then you got guys like Drake may
Bo Nicks that have shown flashes I had some good moments.
And then last year's draft class, which is Bryce Young,
c J. Stroud, Anthony richardson, those guys. So if you
come up with just your top three of your forecasting
who's going to have the best career, who's going to
(02:14):
have the second best career?
Speaker 1 (02:15):
What does your top three look like? As far as
that goes.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Well, I think one uh is Jane Daniels.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Now, again, the hard part about this discussion is you
didn't say like the best. I think you said the
best career, right, because right, the best career involves coaching,
it involves front office, it involves ownership, so like it
involves all these things. Because I could say Kayler Williams
(02:47):
is the most talented. I still think out of all
the quarterbacks you know that we've talked about and we've
drafted the last two years, I think Stroud's probably the
most talented, right, like just as a thrower and what
he's done in his career. But there's a lot of
this season, like a lot of worry right about how
he played this year. I like his coaching staff, you know.
But Kivid Williams might be the most talented of the
(03:09):
players that had been drafted the last two years. I
still believe that. I mean, looks, you obviously do pre
draft analysis on these quarterbacks, and I still think Kivid
Williams is maybe the most talented. But he's not playing
like that, and he's on a team and as you mean,
a franchise that routinely has bungled all the quarterbacks they
(03:30):
ever had in their career in their careers. So like
to look at the Bears and say, like, oh yeah,
it's going to turn around. I don't know about that.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Yeah, that's well, that's you're right.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
It's a little bit of a different discussion if you
just whittled it down to who you think the top
three players are going to be career wise, like forget
about because you're right if you take the organization into account,
what's surrounding them?
Speaker 1 (03:54):
Right?
Speaker 3 (03:54):
So I think Jada Daniels is one. All right, there
is concern in my book about C. J. Stroud in
year two. It has not been good this season, and
there's many reasons for that. I think that the offensive
line is not good. The I don't know if we
could blame the play calling because last year it was
like Bobby Slope, the OC was like the next Sean McVay.
(04:17):
In one year, it changed that much. I don't know
about that. And then, but I still think Stroud is
probably second on my list. Okay, so Jad and Daniels
because I think Daniels and Kingsbury's trying to ruin him.
I don't. I don't. He ruins every quarterback he hit
some point, But I think Daniels is too good to
(04:38):
have to be ruined by by Kingsbury. And I think
that you know, at some point when Kingsbury moves on
to his next job that he doesn't deserve, Daniels will
be just fine with whoever is left is left? Right?
I think, do we agree on that that Daniels is
number one? Do you have Daniels number one?
Speaker 1 (04:52):
I do have Daniel's number one?
Speaker 3 (04:53):
Yeah, I have Stroud. I have Stroud as too. And
then the third one is interesting, man, Like, I mean,
do I still with my priers on Kayleb Williams and
just say like that's who I think is gonna be
the third best of this group? Is it Bo Nixon
Denver playing with a really smart, successful head coach? Is
(05:14):
it Bryce Young now in year two looking really really good?
I mean Bryce Young? So if you guys aren't watching
the Panthers, like, I get why you wouldn't, just the
way that they've played this season. Bryce Young, It's been
incredible the last five weeks, Like against pressure, all the
things that we show judges' quarterbacks on. He's doing those
things really well. So I mean, and drag Boy's playing well,
(05:37):
like I yeah, I think it's still Caleb Williams if
they're probably going to end up getting Ben Johnson as
the OC. I mean he's the head coach, and I
think with Ben Johnson it's going to be Kayleb Williams.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Yeah, I'm close to your list.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
I flip flop two and three, so I have Jaden
Daniels number one, who I think will have, you know,
like the best career. Uh, we're looking at first and
second year quarterbacks who you think will have the best career.
I would put Daniel's number one on that list. What
blows my mind, Jeff, is you look at his numbers
as a rookie and again, who who's his supporting cast?
(06:16):
He's got Terry McLaurin and who to throw to. You know,
it's just like a collection of Okay, zach ertz Okay.
It's like Okay, Diami Brown, like Luke McCaffrey. And he's
still He's eighth and passer rating. His passer rating is
better than Josh Allen's. Josh Allen is gonna be the
(06:37):
MVP most likely?
Speaker 3 (06:39):
Are we sure about that?
Speaker 2 (06:40):
I think he's going to be. We can have that discussion.
You think Lamar's It's a difference between who you think
will win it and who should win it in your mind.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
I think Lamar. I think Lamar is going to win it?
Speaker 1 (06:55):
You do, yes, Wow, Okay.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
I think it's I think it's because he gets to
play or he has played on national television and Josh
Allen is relegated to the one pm slot with with
the teams they're playing right now, that matters a lot.
And I think that, you know, how he plays this
weekend against against the Jets will matter a lot to
(07:21):
whether or not he wins the award. I think it's
the momentum Lamar has built up now over the last
you know, the last two games essentially. I mean, his
performance was incredible on Wednesday, it was on national television.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Well it's listen. Lamar has put up huge numbers. But
right now at bet MGM, Josh Allen to win MVP
is minus two fifty. Lamar is plus one sixty.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
And there's voter fatigue with Lamar absolutely, yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
With total voting fatigue, which sucks and shouldn't be a
thing at all, but it is.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Look at Lamar's numbers.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Lamar has thrown thirty nine touchdown passes in four interceptions.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
It's much better than last season, and last season was
the MVP. His numbers weren't gret last year.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
Yeah, and Lamar leads the league in passer rating. I just, yeah,
I think there's voting fatigue. I wish that wasn't a
thing at all. I think you should have amnesia and
just vote. Vote for this year, who's done the most,
who's been the most valuable. Anything prior shouldn't factor in.
But Josh Allen, yeah, I hear you, But a couple
(08:21):
of his performances in the loss against the Rams were
when he threw three touchdown passes, ran for three touchdown passes. Yeah,
and then the Lions game just happened. I think Josh
Allen's going to win it. But the point is Jaden
Daniels getting back to the top three young quarterbacks. Jayden
daniels numbers rival Josh Allen's numbers. Josh Allen might be
(08:44):
the MVP this season. Jayden Daniels as a rookie with
Terry McLaurin and random dudes to throw to, is putting
up MVP caliber numbers.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Yeah, like, I'm sold.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
And the rushing yards too, He's ran for more yards.
He's got a higher yards per rush than Josh Allen.
I'm not telling you he's better than Josh Allen.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
But as a.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Rookie to even to be putting up better numbers than
the possible MVP is like, wow, okay, you're legit. And
then like the next two Caleb Williams just has so
much ability and he's surrounded by inept coaches right now, Sorry,
that's the truth. Like he just you get Ben Johnson
(09:27):
in there, you get an offensive minded head coach knows
what he's doing. I think Caleb Williams can realize a
lot of that potential. And I'm not selling all my CJ.
Stroud stock. He's definitely regressed, He's taking a big step back.
The lack of accuracy is really puzzling. Yeah yeah, but
I don't think he's just yeah forgotten how to play football.
(09:50):
So I think that CJ. Stroud can still have a
good career. And I'm not more sold on Drake May
or bow Nicks or Bryce Young.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
Could any of those guys turn out to have a
better career than c J.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
Stroud, Sure, but I'm not running to the betting window
if there were such a thing to bet those guys
over Stroud right now.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
I I the Drake May want is super fascinating. I
think Drake May can be really good. I do too,
But I don't think the Patriots are ever going to
give him the talent that needed. I just I just
have low faith in them right now patting together the
roster around.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
Him, right.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
I wonder if the Gerrod Mayo regime is going to
be a lot different than say, if Belichick were still there,
you know, because I feel like he's surrounded with just
random wide receivers the whole time. But maybe Mayo and
this current regime is different than that.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Yeah. I for some reason, I kind of follow a
lot of people on social media are Patriots fans, and
they seem not very enthused with with with how this
coaching staff prepares each week.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
Yeah, well, hey, I hear you on that. It's I
think we can agree it's not gonna be Anthony Richardson.
Is that fair to say?
Speaker 3 (11:06):
Yeah, speaking about Anthony Richardson, I'm just telling you right now,
it's gonna really pay me h for So we for
those who are new year Brian, I do a show
on Sundays Countdown to kick Off with our buddy Bill Krockenberger,
and we do a thing at the end of every
show where we picked five games against the spread. Now,
last week I went one to four. I think one, one,
(11:28):
three and one's it was not great and I've been
it's been bad this season and it's not been great.
But it's most because the favorites keep covering, right bright,
I mean keep winning covering, which I just I'm not
a big favorite. Better. I think I had four dogs
last weekend. I am going to have the Giants plus
seven and a half against the Colts and I hate
(11:49):
myself for that, but there's no way, Yeah, no way
Anthony Richard be seven half point favorite. Room gets any
team the National Football League. I would even say if
they played Oregon at Autin Stadium, I wouldn't make anyone
right now, this is this is an insane, insane number, Ryan, Yeah,
(12:12):
absolutely crazy. You are you with me on this?
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Man?
Speaker 2 (12:17):
It's it's interesting because, like again, if you just glance
at the props that are out right now, Anthony richardson
his completion prop fourteen and a half.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
Surely completes forty seven past the season and they.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Run a lot too.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
So yeah, the underhits quite a bit last week against
the Titans.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
Here, let me get it for you real fast. Did
you up?
Speaker 3 (12:42):
They were up thirty eight to seven and one thirty
eight thirty.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
Yes, because they don't throw. Anthony Richardson.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
In an NFL game last week against the Titans, he
was seven for eleven.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
Way that is that we're getting a t bow? This
is like tebow? Did I mean the Broncos won a
game that year. Tibo was two for eight. Wow in
the game they won.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
Yeah, that's I can't remember which game it was. It
might have been the Dolphins game. I can't remember, but
you're right, you're right, No, it was the I think
it was the Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
I have to go back in probably probably it was
twenty eleven. I mean, but yeah, my old offense line
coach with the Panthers was with was with the Broncos.
He followed John Fox the Broncos, and I mean the
stuff he said about that offense, I cannot repeat. It
was not great. Yeah, imagine the offense line coach of
an offensive can't run, they can't pass the ball. And
what's funny is the Colts of Taylor's been playing great
(13:36):
lately and everyone knows they're running the football. They can't
stop it.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Yeah, Jonathan Taylor went ballistic last week.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
That guy, good lord, his stats.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
You see this, Jeff Jonathan Taylor twenty nine carries for
two eighteen and three touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Listening to dropped the ball this time?
Speaker 2 (13:52):
Yeah, that was definitely making up for the previous week.
Unless you bet the Colts against the Broncos.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
That doesn't make up for anything.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
Had the Bronco I had, I had the Colts in
that game and the over the over. I mean, the
games this weekend are the It's just the worst Slayer
this season. I know it's in every week, but I
mean it's just just so bad. I'm like, I'm gonna
have to take the Browns plus six and a half the.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Brown It's my fins. You're gonna deal with d t R.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
Do you do you have a temperature in this game?
Is fifty two degrees?
Speaker 1 (14:21):
Get out of here in Cleveland in the year?
Speaker 3 (14:23):
Wow? Yeah? Can you believe because this time of year
when you're like, oh, fade the you know, fade. Yeah,
I'm pretty sure it's actually right now what it feels
like right now. But yeah, it's gonna be like warm
and Charlotte this weekend. I know that. Yeah. Sunday fifty
four degrees. Wow.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Crazy, By the way, to put a bow on the uh,
this the first or second year quarterbacks. We're just comparing
lists who we think are gonna have the best careers.
It's pretty startling to see Anthony Richardson fourth overall pick
and we're not even giving a punch of there's chance
to have a top three career of first and second
(15:04):
year quarterback.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
He complete passes seven winning in the National Football League.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
JEF, that's literally tebo. You mentioned it. Yes, completion rate
is tebo. That's what it is.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
Yeah, yeah, it's it's And like, somehow the Colts get
praised for their front office success. I don't know what
success that is, but somehow, like Chris Baller, we like
the guy. I mean, we might like him, but it
doesn't doesn't. You draft Athy Richardson and they tried to
bench him. They tried to tell us this year that
they didn't think he was the guy. And I agree
with the benching and I don't care. I mean, the
(15:41):
point of it. It made no sense to me, and
it still doesn't make it sense to me. But obviously
Shane Steichen was like, we've seen enough of this guy.
He's just not He's not going to be a friend
of his quarterback. Now, the culture sort of stuck like
what do they do?
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Yeah, man, it's it's kind of crazy too to compare
the last two draft classes, Jeff, this gets a little geeky,
but think of it. So we've got Bryce Young who's
improving and might be a guy maybe and c J. Stroud,
who we still think will be good. Then it's Anthony
(16:13):
Richardson yuck, Will Levis yuck. And it's backup guys Hendon Hooker,
Jake Hayner, Aidan O'Connell. Compared to this last draft, Caleb Williams,
Jaden Daniels, Drake May, Pennix, Junior Bo Nicks. We don't
even know about JJ McCarthy yet. Like it's trending toward
this latest draft class where you've got what ten plus
(16:37):
year legitimate franchise quarterbacks. You know, like you've got a
handful of those guys in this last draft class.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
That doesn't happen often.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
It does, not know, it's a good class. Yeah, I'm
with you.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
Yeah, really good class.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
All right, he's Jeff Schwartz, I'm Brian. Now we're in

(17:43):
com slash LeVar All right, Jeff, So, Bowl games moving
on here, and uh, we're wondering are we gonna see
in game opt outs?
Speaker 1 (17:56):
We haven't seen opt.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Outs in terms of like entire game from a number
of big name players. Cam Ward is gonna play for Miami.
You're gonna see Travis Hunter and Shaduur Sanders for Colorado.
But the question is if you're thinking about betting on
those teams, Betting Miami, betting Colorado or fading those teams.
How long did those guys play? Do they play the
(18:20):
entire games? Do they play a half, do they play
three quarters? That's a huge question going into those games.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
Yeah, Look, last year we saw sort of a return
to some of these drafted players, highdragted players playing and
most notably Bo Nicks for Oregon played last year right
in the Bowl game. Now, Bonicks was also chasing a record,
and he was chasing a record for basket police percentage
of constable history. So as soon as he got that
(18:47):
record and they were up like forty five six against Liberty,
they took him out of the game right like to
play after he got it, he was out immediately. Shadarra
Sanders and terms said, have nothing. There's no record for
them to set for Colorado has been now champion before.
There's no passing record he's gonna break if he probably
already broke it if if that's the case. So he
(19:08):
they're playing for the love of the game. And Dan
Sanders has said, I like this idea. He said, hey, man,
like you know, we looked at other teams that had
their players sit out of the ball games last year,
most notably I think Florida State, and look how they played,
and look at teams that had most of their guys play,
and he's right, He's absolutely right. Most guys that played
last year, like an example, Organ started the season strong.
(19:30):
This season at Florida State did not. It's small, small,
small sample size of the course, right. But from a
business perspective, playing in this game, if you're Sanders and
Travis Hunter is not, especially Travis Hunter, who who gets
hit way more right than than Sanders, does well. In theory.
Sanders does get hit a lot because he holds the
ball a little bit. But in theory, I mean Travis
(19:52):
Hunter playing this game is ludicrous. And so with Sugar
Sanders and I tell a story that Colorado Dion said
they got them insurance. It's right for displaying insurance. That's
not a new story. Teams do this all the time,
so it's kind of funny that this became a thing
where you know, it's a Colorado how cool. The teams
have beginning insurance on their players for a long time now,
it's nothing new. So my point is that I don't
(20:15):
know how long they're going to play. I don't really
I don't get the purpose of playing very long today.
I have BYU plus four small, small little sprinkle for
that reason. I just you look at BYU. They're going
to want to beat Colorado. That's one thing about Colorado
that makes playing their hard is get everyone's best game, right,
you know everyone's best game. Because they want to beat Colorado,
(20:37):
Colorado gets a lot of eyeballs, they have a lot
of you know, attention, and so I BYU will play
hard the whole game. I think they'll care about the
whole game. And I just don't think you're going to
see a situation where Shirdr Sanders and Travis Hunter play
that long. And if they don't play the whole game,
Carlos are winning this game. And they also have a
bunch of other pros on their team. So I am
(20:59):
sort of curious how long these guys will play.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
Yeah, I'm really curious because we saw this a little
bit last night. Now, granted, Bowling Green tight end Harold
fannin junior, he's not like a projected top ten NFL
draft pick, so it's not the same thing, but we
were wondering how much he was going to play, Like,
I don't know if he's going to be back at
Bowling Green, if he's going to hit the portal, if
(21:24):
he's going to go to the NFL. I'm not sure
what his next move is. But he was in line
to set a record with the most receptions for any
tight end, and so we were wondering was he going
to get yanked out of the game after he got
that record. The guy played the entire game. He had
seventeen catches for two hundred and thirteen yards in a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
He's insane.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
A lot some people think he should have won the
Mackie Award and been the best tight end in the country.
But the point is, as it relates to cam Ward
and Travis Hunter, Shaduur Sanders, maybe the way the game
unfolds has a lot to do with it. Where at
least I think and you might think so too, Jeff.
Going into the Colorado game, of course, if Colorado was
(22:07):
up by ten fourteen, you're more likely to see those
top end guys get pulled out.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
Of the game.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
What if they're trailing by six points, what if they're
down by three, you know what I mean, Like, you're
less likely.
Speaker 1 (22:19):
To see those guys get yanked out of the game.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
I just I could not imagine being a plilot Travis
Hunter and playing this game. He's been hurt before. It's
like he's not been hurt, man, I just who the
risk feels like a lot. Yeah, it feels like a lot,
man to play BYU in a bowl game, which again,
I mean obviously you know playing a bowl game is
(22:45):
you know, it's an honor to do so. And I
get why Dion is trinty as such because Colorado has
not been good enough over the years right to play
in bowl games. They weren't last year. Of course. Who
I think it's tough, man, I think it's tough to play.
You mentioned cam Ward for Miami, same sort of thing.
(23:07):
Like I think Iowa State, it's a very live wager
here Iowa State rock O Beck that's coming back right,
their quarterback. It was a big announcement he Like. I
love how now when college players decide to stay, it's
they basically reached a deal with it. And it's a
reporter like rock Go Beck he reached a deal with
Iowa State to stay. It's just il now right, al
based and and he's staying. And again like Miami's one
(23:30):
of those teams where you get everyone's best shot. In
my opinion. How else cam Ward plays he played long
enough to get a standing ovation to come off the field,
is really playing four quarters of this game? I mean again,
same thing, right, like high draft pick and how much
do you play him? So these are decisions that you know,
coaches and players I think have already sort of made
it before the game starts. But to your point about
(23:52):
game script and game flow, Colorado is down ten and
they really good to pull Sanders out if he's played
you know, a quarter and a half, two quarters, I
don't think so.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
Yeah, I love it personally. I get your point where
certainly it's risky. There's no doubt if you could be
a top five, top ten NFL draft pick and you
play in this bowl game, you play in the Pop Tarts.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
Bowl or the Animal Bowl, and you're.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
Injured, maybe injured significantly, Yeah, it could absolutely hurt your
draft stocks. So I know it's a risk, But I
love it, man, I really do. I think I think
it's funny. There are a lot of people that will
bash the players and say, oh, they only care about
the money. It's all about money, money, money, money, and
then some of these high end players make a move
(24:36):
that's totally not about the money, and they'll still get
criticized for it, you know what I mean, It's just
crazy how that works out to me.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
I understand it's a risk.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
It's a fan of sport, and who's gonna watch a
whole bunch of teams today? Yeah, I mean it's great
they're playing like it's It's obviously makes it much more
fun to watch ball games when good play, and we
get a part of the Bowl game schedule too. Whe
we're getting the better teams, right, I mean, wow, we've
we've had sort of like the lower level teams right
play in our sports. So we're gonna get some good
matchups today and tomorrow, and obviously the playoff is a
(25:09):
whole different story here. But so I'm glad to see
these games happening. And if the better players are playing,
it certainly makes for better football. Brian and and uh
it does again, it does make it very tough to
wager on. I've given out only two official wagers for
Bowl season. Again, I mentioned I might have a piece
on BYU later against Colorado or maybe Peace of Iowa State,
(25:30):
but very small stakes. It's just hard to to wager
in his games this time of year. Man it's it's hard.
You know you're not gonna make a lot of money
being on Bowl games. To tell you that.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
Have you busted out the new videos of you breaking
down games while walking shirtless?
Speaker 1 (25:46):
Is this the new line of the do.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
No, Unfortunately, it's not. I t like to get my wagers,
you know, I mean it's to be fair. You don't
know what clothes and wearing are not wearing right now,
So possible that I'm giving you guys picks with no
clothes on. And it's sort of the same thing.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
True theater of the mine. You never know.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
I possible. So no, I'm not. I'm not. I've not
done that yet. I'm waiting for Crack to do it first.
As soon as he does it, the soonous Crack does
a walking major, I'm in, by the way, not that
he needs any defending, but old Bill Krackenberger had an
amazing like four days in a row in football for
the NFL. Like I don't know how he does it.
(26:28):
I will, I'll take every wager he gives me. I
think it was like twenty one and eight for like Saturday, Sunday, Monday.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
He's been on a nasty like a good nasty streak
and some of the things that he'll send. It's like
Jalen Naylor under five and a half receiving yards. Really
this is what we're rolling with, and it's like, okay, well,
somehow he'll have zero catches or one catch for three
yards and that's it in the underhits.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
I don't know how he does that obviously, Like the
other day when he gave us all the Saints overs,
like that made sense, right because it's everyone was out, Yeah,
all these backup whiteouts. But some of the times, yeah,
I just I don't know, Like I don't know why
last night Zach Charbonday he thought would get only fifteen
and a half carries.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
And they got it at the hook in our favor, you.
Speaker 3 (27:14):
Know, yeah, yeah, in swift under rushing.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
Yeah, by the way, real fast on the uh the
cam Ward Shoudureyvis Hunter thing. I just hope, And this
is obviously stating the obvious. You don't want any of
these guys to get hurt because you're going to see
it go the exact opposite way the last time. Well,
correct me if I'm wrong. One of the last times
(27:39):
a high profile player got hurt in a similar situation,
it might go back to Jalen Smith.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
I remember this because he's with Notre.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
Dame, Jalen Smith and Jake. But it happened to Ja
but I think happened in a bowl game.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
Yeah, but Jalen Smith, he was a linebacker at Notre
Dame and he could have been maybe a top five
I have top ten draft picks, somewhere in that range.
And he got hurt. It was the Fiesta Bowl against
Ohio State, which was a higher end bowl but not
a playoff game, and he ripped up his knee and
fell to the second round. And that's millions and millions
(28:16):
of dollars right there.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
And it never is the thing about his injury though,
compared to maybe like an ACL or whatever, like right was,
it just never improved that nerve damage.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
I know it. That was huge.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
And I like this trend of these high prospects playing
I think that's great. And I think sometimes we overstate
the risk factor as if you know, they're wrestling alligators
or you know, I mean, like they're playing football. You know,
certainly there's risk for injury, but let's not act like
they're you know, dodging steak knives that are being thrown
(28:49):
at them, you know. But with that being said, I
hope they are completely healthy and it doesn't hurt their
draft stock.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
If anything, it helps them. But I like that trend.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
I just hope we don't see injury because you're gonna
see that trend go completely the other way if we do.
By the way, let me throw you got something.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
Jeff, I mean it did you like? It did go
in that direction after the Jayleen It did.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
Yeah, it was just opted out city right after that.
Speaker 3 (29:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Yeah, it's while we're talking college football. This is wild
to me. So you know about Ashton Genty, He's chasing
Barry Sanders.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
This is the wild thing.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
We gotta do this more often, Jeff, because I fell
into this trap too until I looked it up where
it's like, well, Genty's played more games than Barry Sanders.
Barry played eleven games, set the record for single season rushing.
Gent's played thirteen, so a couple more games. Do you
realize they've had the exact same number of carries? No, way,
(29:49):
the exact I just I don't know why I look
this up three four for both both have this same.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
It's insane amount of carries in a football season.
Speaker 2 (29:59):
That's a lot of Harry's in a season. But right,
smack dab on the nose. That matters way more than
the amount of games, how many, how many rushing attempts
you had? It matters way more than Yeah, like genty,
Yeah he's played a couple more games, but he didn't
play in the second half once or twice.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
Yeah, it's just it's it's hard for me to get
there when it comes to just like, you know what,
the schedule that genty.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
Has played exactly, G's why.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
It's why I think they get destroyed against Penn State gents.
An incredible talent and he deserves all the awards and
accolades and whatnot. But it just he played a Mount
West schedule. Man, it's not the same.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
No, it isn't. They hung tough against your boys there.
Speaker 3 (30:48):
Yeah, or different different Oregon team. I don't think that
game would be quite the same today as it was
back then.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
Okay, and they do have a leaky rush defense, you
would admit that, right, boys.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
State, if anything outside of the actual game script they
need is going to happen, they're going to get blown out. Yeah,
like they're not. It's it's not the that's up yesterday
so sp plus is I like using that metric to
sort of it's an efficiency number for ESPN for Bill Conley.
And you know, Boise State has played since the organ
(31:26):
game essentially, which was September fourteenth. I mean, we never
talked about the NFL like back in week two. Guys,
remember what you were the Saints who were like gonna
win the Super Bowl back in week two? Y it's
kind of fast, right yeah, and and to that was
we too. But since the amount of one schedule, they
played un v twice, who was empowering in about thirty
eighth of the country. And then it's a bunch of
teams in the nineties Brian nineties and has been bad.
(31:49):
It's not their fault. Fault.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
Penn State has NFL dudes on the defense. Do you
see what they did?
Speaker 2 (31:56):
The s m U s MU had games where you're like, wow,
look at SMU and SAP against NFL talent. You're like,
oh gosh, wow, that's it makes a big difference right there. Yes, yeah,
now I hear you.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
Okay, well we'll be on what January first, so we'll
be recapping that Noise State Penn State?
Speaker 3 (32:17):
Oh yeah, that game is yes, you're right, yes, yes,
that's early game.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Yeah, so what do you think we're going to be
talking about there? Penn State waxes another opponent.
Speaker 3 (32:25):
Yeah, I will have Penn State in that game.
Speaker 2 (32:28):
Okay, Yeah, Genty needs one hundred and thirty two yards
rushing to take down Barry Sanders.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
What do you think his chances are?
Speaker 3 (32:36):
Now?
Speaker 2 (32:36):
If they won, then obviously he would have another shot
against the next opponent. But if this is it for gent,
this is his last game, what do you think the
chances are that he rushes for a buck thirty two?
Speaker 3 (32:47):
Hen have like thirty cares to do so I think
he can probably get there.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
If not, there's no chance this game is even close.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
Oh man.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
Yeah, if it were like nots in to be their quarterback,
to be your offense, you're you're a bad place. So yeah,
that's I think that that's a big obviously a big
part of this right as you kind have to just
boys has to sort of stay on schedule. You off schedule.
I think you're just screwing this game.
Speaker 4 (33:12):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
Okay, so here we go. Jeff the the prop bet.
This is kind of crazy. This is listed at bet MGM.
Right now, Ashton Genty rushing yards against Penn State one
thirty five and a half. So they have it listed
a little bit higher than what he needs to surpass Barry.
(33:34):
You see him Russian for a buck thirty six.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
I think it's organ around the ball well against Penn State. Yeah,
extremely possible. He's gonna get the opportunity get thirty five
thirty eight care I mean they're gonna give him the
amount of carries he needs to try to get there,
Like that's part of this as well, Like just to
think about pop Boys State sort of has to play
this game like they're gonna have to give him all
the carries. Yeah, so I think it's possible, But I
don't think that means that Boys States can keep this
(34:02):
game close. I think Penn State cover is my favorite
wager for the UH of the of the slate so
far with the with the four the CFP games.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
It's tough if you if Penn State is leading and
then starts leading by more and starts leading by a
little more, it's tough to be like, let's.
Speaker 1 (34:20):
Keep running the ball, you know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (34:22):
Like if that happens, they still might run it with
gent but it gets harder and harder.
Speaker 1 (34:28):
The more you're trailing, right.
Speaker 3 (34:30):
Yes, and they just yeah, you have to and that's
I think again, it's sort of a there's a game
script that has to go straight away, I think for
for boys to keep this game close. Just remember in
the in round one, we talked about this, you know,
I talked about this, You've talked about it, like the
reason why the games end up being bad is because
SMU and Indiana had to play much better opponents than
(34:52):
there I used to play, right and the same with
Boise State, just because they have a buyers and change that.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
That's true, absolutely true.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
He's Jeff Schwartz. I'm Brian No. We're in for Two
Pros and a Cup of Joe coming up next, little
preview action. The ball buffet is in full effect, Jeff.
And also, why on earth did this team do what
they just did. We're live from the Tireck dot Com
studios right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (35:18):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific.
Speaker 2 (35:28):
He's Jeff Schwartz. I'm Brian No. In for two pros
and a cup of Joe. Here on Fox Sports Radio.
We're live from the tirec dot Com studios. All right,
Jeff before a little ball buffet preview here rapid fire style.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
Just one quick thing.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
We were talking about Shaduur Sanders and Cam Ward playing
in their respective Bowl games, and they look to be
top NFL draft picks. Well, the Raiders they going into
last week, were in line to draft one of those
guys number one overall, but they beat Jacksonville last Sunday
(36:04):
and they went from the first overall pick to the
sixth overall pick after beating Jacksonville.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
I don't understand it.
Speaker 2 (36:14):
Listen, the players are gonna fight, they're gonna try to win,
which they should. But this should be an organizational tank,
if there ever was one. Why are you starting Aidan
O'Connell instead of Desmond Ridder. Trot out Ridder and hopefully
you lose it. You get the first overall pick and
you don't have to spend all this potential draft capital
(36:36):
to move up to get a guy. You have to
get a quarterback. You're in the same division as Mahomes.
This made no sense whatsoever.
Speaker 3 (36:46):
So this one's tough. Because I've been a bad team
before and the year we end up drafting Cam Newtoney.
Before that, I was through fourteen Panthers team. Dude, there's
no talk at all from players and coaches about draft position, right, Yeah,
I've said this all the time. The tanking happens on
(37:08):
Monday through through Saturday. My personal decisions and send to
everyone plays to win. So you're right, they should have said, hey,
play Desmon Ritter. But it's it's Brian, It's it's hard
in the building to sell that to players that are
trying to win and put up good film that we're playing.
(37:29):
It doesn't ridder who we know is not better you O'Connell.
It's just it's a bad match. And I don't I
do not think for an officers think like that. I
think for an offices really do really feel like, no
matter what happens with our draft slot, we will figure
it out when we get to that point of the
season or the off season. I don't think that they
(37:53):
think much about in the moment. Let's basically sabotage ourselves
to get a better draft selection, because we we we
we The only thing that happened a few years ago,
You remember when Philly did that against the Giants.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
Otherwise we mostly see the opposite happen right where the
Texans screwed themselves out of the first pick overall, which
might either helping them or or the Raiders. We rarely
see teams that like legitimately, legitimately do try to take
the last game of the season.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
Yeah, you might see that with the Giants, the Daniel
Jones thing.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
He's not walking on quarterback water, but Drew Locke is
freaking brutal.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
And maybe you're seeing that with the Browns and dt
R where it's something with your draft position in mind.
But listen, it's costing you so much draft capital. Do
you think the Raiders are better off going forward? Just
as an organization.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
I know the.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
Coaches, they're they're way better off losing against the Saints
on Sunday. They're gonna they're gonna keep dropping in the
draft order. And we've been through a million times. Just
as you're drafting lower, it doesn't mean you're guaranteed a
lesser pick. It's just the draft capital that you'd have
to spend to get up there to get one of
(39:08):
these top guys.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
If that's who we have your eye on.
Speaker 2 (39:11):
So it's it's kind of crazy right there. Okay, so
weekend stuff. One game caught my eye in particular, Jeff,
how about Packers Vikings. This is on Sunday, Minnesota. They're
thirteen and two and they're a home underdog against green Bay.
Speaker 3 (39:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (39:29):
I like the Packers, you do.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
Yeah a little bit. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (39:33):
What do the Vikings have to do to get some respect?
You're a whole underdop thirteen two.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
I think the Packers are good.
Speaker 1 (39:41):
They are good, but they're on the road.
Speaker 3 (39:45):
No, I know, I know, no, I get it. Is
this number telling you that they think that that the
Vegas is telling you the Packers are really good and
the Vikings are maybe nascos as they are.
Speaker 1 (39:56):
And maybe that's the case. I think it's the darnold
stench right there.
Speaker 3 (40:00):
I think that's certainly true.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
Yes, that's stinky line thinky Darnold. Hey, fun stuff. Everybody
enjoyed the weekend. We'll see you soon.
