Speaker 4 (01:28):
This is it's just really unfair, unfair. It's just it's
your Jonas Yea, it is who he is man, despicable dude. Yeah, yeah,
you help him. You need Jesus, that's what you need.
Trust me, trust me. There's plenty of that. And they
(01:51):
was running that ball last night. Bag god. Lee Montgomery's
what third longest in his career. I believe it, right,
They was out there. That's a that's a nice tandem.
Bro It's the nicest, right, I Mean, they kept saying
it that it's the best in the league.
Speaker 5 (02:07):
I was trying to think, who's Yeah, that's true. There's
not many other teams that you have two like that.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
I like that, And it's just very different, like one
is going to just bang you up and the other
one is just going just run away from you.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
You know.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
That's like it's a little bit like how it was
when they had like Bradshaw the three headed monster in
New York that, like Brandon Jacobs was the battering ram
My Bradshaw was what Wind?
Speaker 3 (02:39):
Who was fire? Earth winding? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:44):
Yeah, what was? And he was my teammate. Come on,
I'm trying. Why am I blanking on his name?
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Ward? Is it Ward? What was his first name? Derek Ward?
Derek Ward? Right? Isn't that it?
Speaker 5 (02:56):
Why are you asking us?
Speaker 4 (02:57):
Derek Ward's your teammates, my Bradshaw and.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Brandon Jacobs.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
Yeah, I believe saw some of the giants, ky, I
guess your giants.
Speaker 5 (03:08):
Yeah, I don't remember Derek Ward. I remember Brandon Jacobs
and Ammud Bradshaw.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
Yeah, they were earth Winding Fire. That was the year
they won the Super Bowl too. I want to say,
was that twenty eleven twenty second War?
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Yeah? Twenty yeah, yeah, I could be wrong, though.
Speaker 5 (03:26):
I still never will forget seeing Brandon Jacobs walk out
in warm ups and I remember I looked over someone
was like damn, what d N's that and they're like, no, no,
that's a running back. That's Brandon Jacobs. Wait wait a second,
our defense has to tackle that guy.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
Got a tackle?
Speaker 5 (03:42):
He're like yeah, I'm like oh, good God, that's not
gonna go.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
Well. I saw him.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
I think he was either it was later in his
career or right after he retired, and he was promoting
boxing events like he was a boxing promoter. It was
the Ward and I saw him to fight, and yeah,
he was massive, literally six four sixty five every bit
(04:08):
of it and could run a four four.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
A huge.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
Dude was a big mother ef for bro. I had
to play against him and play and played with him,
and we used to work out in the off season together,
like do like the sprint work and all the speed work.
Dude's agility was crazy. And now he's got a kid.
He's got a kid that makes him look like he's miniature, really,
and I think he's starting for like Clemson or LSU
(04:35):
or something like that.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
Big Nick. He big as hell, dout, big as hell.
He makes b Jake look like he's little.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
You know, you know who else makes you feel like
like you're like confused as to how that is.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
There's two two in particular. I'm home. He's a lineman. Yeah,
he's at Clemson. Clemson, Braiden Jacobs.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
So Andre john huh yeah, Brandon Andre Andre Johnson. The
first time I met him. I thought I was hanging
out with a defensive end. I didn't realize it was
Dre until somebody's like Drake Drake and I was like Frey,
like like Andre Johnson dre like because I was in
Miami and I felt inadequate, like standing next to him
(05:25):
like it felt I felt small. Sean Taylor made me
feel small too, like literally like he's like he was
a tap bit something different when I was standing around
him too. But it's like could have been a linebacker,
a d n and play safety.
Speaker 5 (05:45):
Big dudes, I mean, if we're if we're on this,
this big you know, tangent.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (05:50):
Stephen Jackson, Steve is a big dude. Is the most underappreciated,
underrated running back.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
I wouldn't disagree with that one.
Speaker 5 (06:00):
That sounds like such an overstatement. I would not just
but with that dude. He was gigantic too. I think
he was like forty two fifty is somewhere in that
ballpark easily six two sixty three free dude. Do you
remember one of the years he had like twenty three
hundred scrimmag yards from scrimmage.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
Oh, he was like he was nice, He's great out
of the backfield, super agility, like crazy agility.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
Bro.
Speaker 5 (06:22):
He also was on a Saint Louis team that like
he got there after like the greatest show on turf, right,
like he.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
Was at Marshall was at the end. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:32):
But I think they were on the team because I
remember playing and they were both on the team at all.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
Right, So look at listen to his stat line back
in two thousand and six, Stephen Jackson fifteen over fifteen
hundred yards rushing, thirteen touchdowns, ninety catches, eight hundred yards received.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
He was a beast.
Speaker 5 (06:49):
My god, fuck ninety catches.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
Out of ninety ninety. Yeah, he was a beast. It
was awesome.
Speaker 5 (06:56):
Due I think he had like eight straight seasons of
over one thousand yards rushing. Is that right, Jonas?
Speaker 3 (07:01):
Yeah from uh.
Speaker 5 (07:02):
I remember someone talking about him because I remember, like,
you know, playing against him and and like seeing him
and going, bro, you just you don't seem And by
the way, like Brandon Jacobs was gigantic, he was bigger.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
That's just different big. That's a different type.
Speaker 5 (07:15):
And I was gonna say, like Stephen Jackson, for how
big he was moved incredibly.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
His agility was crazy, man.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
Yeah, it was like that combination of that size and
that was what.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
Was what man.
Speaker 4 (07:26):
That was His agility was a little different from b
Jake had agility but not like like Stephen Jackson ran
like a little dude but with big as Yeah yeah, no,
stee jack was he was.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
He was an animal. Now, yeah, I.
Speaker 5 (07:41):
Give you, yeah, Stephen, I did not know that that
many damn catches.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Stephen Jackson only made three Pro bowls. No I'm saying no,
it's a lot. But with that kind of run like
for a decade and he made three Pro bols.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
He was so good, great player.
Speaker 5 (08:01):
If I saw him right now and walk them, dude,
you'll you'll never be appreciated for how flipping great Yord.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
Lives in Vegas? Does he? Yeah, I've seen him.
Speaker 6 (08:10):
Not.
Speaker 5 (08:10):
Somebody's a call to tell he should get like a
he should get a phone call once a day.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
Some should call shoot him a message. You were a badass.
I'm a shoot him a message and tell him you
said that to day.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
Please do, dude, that guy was, he was a bad man.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
He's a cool dude too.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
He like does stuff with like barber shops now and
he's like at it like a barber school and stuff
like that and he does, and he does media like
he does like podcasting and stuff.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
He's not bad.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
He's not bad at it, like does like highlighting of
players and stuff like.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
That's pretty cool little dip. Yeah, yeah, we can call
it cool little dip. Yeah, it was a cool little
dip last night. But yeah, Detroit lyons some boys.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
Man, that's a nice backfield. It's like Pennon State's backfield.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
Dan Campbell, the head coach. Campbell, the head coach of
the Lions, spoke about their approt spoke about their afterwards.
Speaker 7 (09:08):
It just feels good to know against a type of
team like that, you play a different type of game
and you're able to find a way to win. So
one of the things I mentioned earlier this year is
I told the team I want to find I'm want
to find out how many different ways we can win games,
you know, because the better you get it winning, the
more you win. So that that took everything we had,
(09:29):
and I was proud of the players. This is the
type of game that was needed for this opponent. Not
everyone is going to always be the same. You'd love
to say, you know, it's always gonna uh, it's going
to be that type and you got to play this way.
Speaker 5 (09:41):
But all of them are different.
Speaker 7 (09:42):
And uh, you know some some games it takes more explosives.
You know, you got to get more explosives than it
does just true groundwork.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
You know, the ground.
Speaker 7 (09:52):
Sets it up and defensively you got to play a
little different. But it was for it was what was
needed against this team, for this opponent. And I thought
the guys have perfectly.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
It looked like they were thrown off, thrown out. Some
gadget plays as well, too, Ben Johnson, John Morton, the
new offensive coordinator.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
Johnny Morton. John, he only gets John. It's not Johnny
Morton like Chad Morton's brother. No, it's so different John.
Speaker 5 (10:18):
Yeah, I'll tell you as much.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Though.
Speaker 5 (10:20):
Everything he just said right there was like wisdom. I
mean you you've got to learn how to win in
a variety of ways. The best teams do. And I
look after they got you know, beat down versus what
Green Bay yep, I kind of looked at them. Now
I'm like, all right, maybe this is a team who
is They're different than what we thought, Like maybe they
are like the Detroit Lions we saw last year. They
(10:42):
are a true contender. Because I was a little bit
concerned after seeing Green Bay. I thought there was that's
a divisional opponent. There's that big of separation between the two.
I know it's just one game, but still it gives you.
It's a measuring stick. It gives you an idea of
where you're at. But to his point, to go on
the road, that is such a tough place to play.
And I'm guessing this. Maybe you can look this up, Jonas,
(11:03):
or someone could look this up, the home field advantage
of Baltimore.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Let you try to say, can I look stuff up?
See that shoe, says Adidas.
Speaker 5 (11:12):
Well, no, you don't have your computer like out to
look at stuff up?
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Do you don't look at something?
Speaker 5 (11:18):
So that's that's called kyp kyps. Know your personnel. I
know my guy of R and I know you don't
have your laptop up. And I know Jonas has his
up because he constantly is looking at making bets. So
that's how I know Jonas.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
Yes, we're not here to judge. Who cares. I'm not judging.
Speaker 5 (11:35):
I'm just I'm saying I know my personnel, so I know,
like if I'm gonna look for a stat I'm probably
gonna lean on Jonas. I would have leaned on Lee,
but we don't know where he's at.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
So, hey, Pat, how quickly could you get to the stats?
Speaker 8 (11:52):
They would say relatively cliquially?
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Maybe?
Speaker 5 (11:54):
All right, Patrick, let's ask you this, who has the
best home field advantage? Let's over the last I don't know,
fifteen years. Let's see how twenty years whatever will make
it easiest for you to look at Like quickly he
can get three two thousand, but let's say two thousand
starting the millennium.
Speaker 8 (12:10):
Dude, alright, let's see, let's see best home field advantaged? Uh,
consistently showing I mean, this is on ai that I'm finding.
But last twenty years, the teams are saying Pittsburgh Steelers
is one of them, the Packers and so. And I'm
(12:34):
not trying to be biased because I'm wearing the sweatshirt,
but the Seattle Seahawks for the twelve man, because.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
They're very loud. Oh is showing up right now.
Speaker 5 (12:41):
As far as grice home field advantage of win percentage.
Speaker 8 (12:44):
Win percentage in ranking tough fast, not finding the stats,
but saying rankings are Steelers, Chiefs, Eagles, Packers, and that's
current right now.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
As Weaver Stadium for the white out probably be on
there too, right.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
That is true? What does GROX say about that? Where
would Beaver Stadium rank in.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
The NFL home field advantages?
Speaker 3 (13:17):
Steelers are eagle should take advantage of that too.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
By the way, I just look and you can go
back to here we go, Here we go.
Speaker 5 (13:24):
I don't best home field winning percentage in the last
twenty years. Packers at seven twenty four, Ravens at seven eighteen, Patriots, Steelers, Vikings.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
There's your top five that went down.
Speaker 4 (13:37):
I went last night, so you were right, Pat, Good job, bro,
it wasn't too bad.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
Let's go all right? Yeah, Pat be delivering.
Speaker 5 (13:46):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
I just I don't know.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
I don't know that I've ever seen Baltimore get clowned
like that, like that clowned.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
Like they was bullied. The bully got bullied.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
Bully came to the year calling out names, had beat
a couple of people up, so you knew that the
bullying was real. It just happened to run into one
that was a bully beater. They're out there. You know
you you gotta be aware, Like like you said, you
gotta know your personnel, you gotta you gotta know your opponent.
(14:21):
That opponent last night. It was a tooth chipper. Yeah,
good for them, And where do they go from here? Like,
that's a really really big win, that's a great quality win.
Like that would be the equivalent of Notre Dame winning
one of those first two games that that, you know,
especially the one where they went to Miami, Like that
(14:42):
would be the equivalent of them having going to Miami
and punched Miami in the mouth and won that game.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
So, like, what's next for them?
Speaker 4 (14:51):
You know, it's got to be a vastly different, you know,
conclusion to draw for this. It's they've changed the narrative
around them for this for the rest of the season
after that victory.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
Is it fair to point out Baltimore was also a
little banged up on defense? Matabk wasn't there, Kyle van
Noy wasn't there.
Speaker 4 (15:13):
That's what van Noy is a big that's a big
you know, probably would have made a difference. That's a
big loss. But they still you still got to be
able to win, especially if you're at home. Yeah, I mean,
they was running.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
Through them, bro. I just I don't know why you
have to take shots at Notre Dame Like, I.
Speaker 4 (15:30):
Don't know why I don't know, and and and Brady's
being quiet because he's going to get it all back
when he does his little segment.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
Today, Today's Tuesday whenever.
Speaker 5 (15:43):
The second part is like, what does anything you're saying
have to do with Notre Dame? Like, yes, the running
backs outperformed this past week. Any game that your Penn
State running backs have produced, Yes, we saw that right.
You were even actually texting me like, hey man, he's
running backs pretty nice. But yeah, we watched them one
against y'all last year, the semifinal game.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
So yeah, so your teeth c I'm just.
Speaker 5 (16:13):
Saying, like, some nice running backs, the best running back
that no one's talking about in college football, if you
want to go there.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
I was, I have I do watch y'all. So I
did compliment your backs.
Speaker 5 (16:26):
You did, We were texting about it.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
I did. I definitely did. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
I take it all back now that you've put it
out there in the public, I take it. I take
it all back.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
You know I'm taking that text back. You guys aren't good.
Your running backs aren't good.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
It is two pros and a cup of Joe Fox
Sports trading.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
My old spice.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
By the way, immature man. Everyone knows. Yeah, everyone knows. Yeah, Brady,
we were kicking this around during the break. Our show
is by far the most immature on the network by far,
not even is.
Speaker 5 (17:07):
That even contemplating, But we.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
Have the most kids out of every show put together.
Speaker 5 (17:13):
Well, yeah, so we're supposed to be more mature because
we have kids.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
That might be why we said that might be why
we are I'm mature, to be honest.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
So you got so you got five, Brady's got five.
That's I got one right there, that's eleven. It's a
great number.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
Oh yeah, I have one.
Speaker 4 (17:32):
Yeah there, twelve. Dang twelve. You ain't messing with that. Hey,
the whole entire cluster is not. It's not messing with that. Yeah, twelve. Nah,
that's a lot of work. By the way, God, that
is a lot of action. That's a lot of push.

true story came out. Oh yeah, we forgot about her
because we was so busy looking at the first one.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
I forgot, I'll say I forgot.
Speaker 4 (18:26):
I forgot about the second one because I was so like, like,
little man is hair, I'm with little man, and then
I hear oh.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
I turned around scoop and score.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
Wait, really on, god on, everything We was huddled up
making sure the vitals was good. Everything was good.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
It's like like driving away with a cup on the
top of your car. A second, hold on, I.

will have the leftovers coming up here a little over
fifteen minutes from now.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
But Dean, good morning, sir.
Speaker 6 (23:15):
Wow wow. I mean a couple of things, A couple
of things here. Just I mean the Godfather theme intro.
I mean, that's the thing now every Tuesday.
Speaker 3 (23:25):
I'm gonna expect that.
Speaker 6 (23:26):
That's incredible.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 6 (23:27):
Second thing, while I'm waiting, I'm here, I'm listening about
I don't know, eight minutes of advertisements the LeVar Arrington
blue Chew read electrics.
Speaker 5 (23:41):
He's the best in the business.
Speaker 6 (23:43):
It's not like the tech talk for your crotch.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
Yeah, wow about that. You want to get some now,
don't you, Dean? You need it, but you know you
want it.
Speaker 6 (23:53):
I just got I mean I used the promo code
the whole thing. Yewn incredible, incredible.
Speaker 3 (23:58):
Yeah, you're welcome. Hey, can I ask you about a
game that I don't know?
Speaker 8 (24:08):
You?
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Obviously you weren't. You weren't taking part in this this
is an SEC game. It was Oklahoma Auburn, but there
was a big you know, outrage of from Auburn and
it should be because Oklahoma faked a substitution like a
guy was running off the field and then stayed on
the field and they threw a touchdown pass. Yeah, so
what happens there? How can how is that not reviewable?
(24:30):
How can this be like that seems like a pretty
obvious infraction and for whatever reason it stuck.
Speaker 5 (24:36):
Well, first, what has that been outlawed? I thought there's
been like elements of that where that is a legal play.
Speaker 6 (24:44):
Well, there's it's if you the rule in college is
if you use a like a simulated substitution to basically
deceive your opponent, right, that that's it's called the hide
out play. Right, So the one the Worldklahoma player kind
of went went toward the bench like he was going
(25:05):
off the field and then stopped like right near the
sideline kind of basically that's why they call it a hideout.
He's kind of hiding. Their defense doesn't recognize it. Then
he goes downfield wide open and catches a touchdown. That's
a foul because you're using the substitution process to basically
deceive the opponent. You know, it looks he's got to
be he's got to be inside the numbers right first,
(25:28):
and then go outside the numbers. Some of this is
I mean to me, there's got to be simonus on
the defense to recognize, Okay, you know, where's the eleventh player?
And you know we're always working off of like the
five eligibles all of that, but that is a foul.
Apparently they did talk to the officials before the game
and say that, you know, how do we do this legally?
(25:50):
And what they told the officials, at least this is secondhands.
I don't know exactly what happens. What they told the
officials was a little bit different than what they actually did.
Speaker 5 (26:01):
So so let me follow up by asking this is
that is that real different in the NFL and college
because I can recall one of the best Johnny manziel
moments with the Browns was was that exact similar play
where Kyle Shanahan is looking at him and he tells.
Speaker 6 (26:16):
Him that should the NFL should They didn't call it
and they should have, and that was the same and
and what was that Johnny or Baker? I don't know but.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
Yeah it was Nny.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
It was the other white quarterback.
Speaker 6 (26:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (26:33):
But but I guess to my point is I was
asked this, why is it illegal? I mean to your
point about the defense being aware of all eleven, Like
that's kind of part of the onus on it, you
know what I'm saying, Like he's on the field of
play still, like they shouldn't be aware of that there's
a quarterback out there, like people, you know, people should
be understanding of who's on the field who's not.
Speaker 6 (26:52):
I agree. I was always like because we had a
lot of that when I was at the NFL, and
teams and and and do it. And I was always like, look,
the defense has to recognize it too. Now again, the
rule is the rule, Like it's part of that substitution
process the NFL has as it's five yards from the sideline,
so they kind of put a point of demarcation where
(27:12):
if you if you're more than five yards from the sideline,
that's the theory is okay, the defense should recognize that.
But yeah, any anything in there, And I think the
rule is the way it is because they're trying to
prevent teams from really pushing the envelope and going because
it does make it harder on the officials in terms
of recognizing when it's an actual substitution when it's them
(27:34):
trying to play games. So I think you know, both
the NFL and college they want that call because they
want to they want to kind of deter teams from
doing stuff like that.
Speaker 4 (27:44):
I'm gonna switch gears on you, Deane, and I'm going
to pluck your nerve right now because I'm going to
directly pass go and straight to the tush push. Huh.
It happened this week. The happened a lot. Obviously, the
scrutiny on it is crazy. How slow did they make
(28:07):
it to see the linemen jump early and how much more?
Because I don't the way it seemed and the way
the narrative was, I don't know that the referees could
have saw it at real time speed the way that
it's seemed slowed down. So will there be replayed of
the touch push and you're going to get an offside
(28:30):
penalty on it? Like, how do they, you know, kind
of govern it moving forward after showing that so many
times after it took place in the game.
Speaker 6 (28:41):
Yeah, well that's and that's the point. It's look they
always officials don't officiate so motion, they're looking at it
at full speed. I thought the plays against the Rams
were closer than the ones against the Chiefs. You know,
when you start going frame by frame, that's like nobody
sees it that way live. And I think that's part,
it's part of the difficulty of this play. So the
(29:03):
officials have been told to call this tight and and
and obviously that you know, you still have some early movement,
whether that's clearly a foul or not. I thought it
was closer. I really thought that was. You know, I
got so much attention about my comment in the Eagles
game that my colleague Mike Pereira needed to get a
little love and he just wanted to throw it out
there and then and get a publicity. You know, you
(29:28):
know how it is with Pereira.
Speaker 5 (29:29):
But but you two Italians.
Speaker 6 (29:32):
I know, well, he's Portuguese, which which yeah, a little
beat there exactly. But somebody, somebody online and somebody sent
me a thing. It's like Jeane Serat or Dean Blendino,
Mike Pereira, all these Italians are rules analysts, and somebody said, no,
Pereira is Portuguese, and you know, the comments, it's like, no,
(29:53):
that's that's fake Italians.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
Oh geez god.
Speaker 6 (30:00):
Yeah. So we'll see. I mean, we've got the Eagles
bucks this week coming up, so I'm sure we'll be
talking more touch push during the game and we'll see
how it goes.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
Fox Sports NFL college football rules analyst Dean Blandino joining
us here on Fox Sports Radio. I don't know if
there's numbers to add to this, but it does feel
like in just watching through the first couple of weeks
that it seems like the hard hits are back, and
that maybe the officials aren't calling for lowering the helmet
(30:31):
as much, or maybe you know, indirectly helmet to helmet.
It just I don't know if it's because of the
kickoff change, but if you notice that as well, too,
have they relaxed maybe some of the penalties that were
called for hits that would have been quote unquote back
in the day acceptable that are now deemed to be dangerous.
Speaker 6 (30:50):
Yeah, you know, it's a good point I have. I
think I think we're still somewhat overboard on the quarterback protection.
You know, there was one on Josh Allen Thursday night
that I didn't love and but yeah, some of the
stuff down field, I don't know what the numbers. I'll
take a look at the numbers and maybe we can
talk about it next week. In terms of flags on
hits on receivers, I do know. Look, this lowering the helmet.
(31:13):
They put it in more so that they could just
fine and warn after the fact. The officials rarely call it.
You know, Sae Kuan got fined for for lowering his
head and making contact with the helmet in the Chiefs game.
I mean, you watch camp Skataboo. I'm there probably four
or five that that he might get warned or well
(31:35):
every time he every time he touches the football, it's
you know, he drops his head and and that's part
of running back and getting low and all of that.
But I think I think there's there's that fine process,
there's that that that post game discipline that that takes place.
So some of these hits, even if they're not called
on the field, they do get they do get attention
(31:55):
during the week. But uh yeah, I mean I haven't
seen as many flags for hits down field and some
these big hits on the receivers.
Speaker 5 (32:02):
All right, One anomaly we saw this past week and
it was all the block field goals, Like, I don't
know that I've ever seen anything like that before in
my life. Uh, take me through what's allowed and what's
not allowed. At one point, did you guys outlaw them
jumping over to the long snapper?
Speaker 3 (32:17):
And now is that back in?
Speaker 6 (32:19):
Well? Yeah, So it depends on where you where you align.
If you come from from off the ball right and
you run used to be you could. You could be
off the ball, run up, jump and try to block
the kick, and you can't do that if you're off
the ball more than a yard off the ball, you
run up, you jump and not just land on players.
(32:42):
That's a foul. But if you jump and cross the
line of scrimmage, that's a foul. That's leaping. If you're
if you're on the line stationary on the line, you
can jump over, you can land on players because in
the series you're not getting that run up. But you
can't leverage right. You can't push We saw the call
against Denver obviously against the Colts in week two. You
(33:03):
can't use the opponent or a teammate to push off
to gain height to block the kick. And then and
then we have the whole pull and shoot right that
that you can't one guy grab, he grabs, the guard
pulls him out of the gap, and then the and
then the teammate shoots the gap. So you can't do that.
And I thought, look, there's always a lot going on.
But I thought the Eagles blocks were fine. I thought
(33:26):
the Jets. The Jets block was fine, but it is
something I'm happy the Jets was good because we got
all these Aaron Glenn means now, which is amazing.
Speaker 4 (33:37):
Age, Well, it did not age well, Dan, you you
mentioned that you didn't like to hit on Josh Allen
and and maybe the relaxing of of how they're judging
the quarterback protection. What else did you have on your
note sheet that that jumped out at you from watching
the games this past weekend.
Speaker 6 (33:55):
Well, for me, it was some of the just there's
been some inconsistence season replay and some of these big plays,
you know, I thought, you know, if we're talking about
the Jets, right, the Bucks and Jets. I thought there
was a catch late in the game. Bucks were down
and I think it was I think it was a mecca,
(34:16):
you know, at the sideline. He bobbled it, he regained control.
I thought he got two feet down and they never
stopped it. Never never, I mean they review it because
it's in the last two minutes. You know, Todd Bowles
called the time out. Everybody's like, what that was the catch?
And then they didn't they didn't stop the game and
bring the referee over. I'm seeing a little bit more
of that, maybe some inconsistent season in replay and whether
(34:39):
stopping plays, looking at them and then the actual the
actual decisions. So I think that's something in the league
just needs to continue. You know, you're not going to
be perfect, but you just want to be consistent. And
I know talking to a lot of people around the league,
you know when I'm at games, that's one of the
things that comes up. It's like we were having a
hard time kind of getting a fe for what these
(35:01):
decisions are going to be because obviously they you know, coaches,
they need challenge, they need to know where what's the
likelihood that we're going to get this and flip this call.
So I think that's something that I've seen the last
couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
Dean Blandino, Fox Sports NFL college football rules analysts. Are
you traveling this weekend? Are you staying out in LA.
Speaker 6 (35:19):

screws it up a little bit. I'm a big you know,

Monday night game, he pulled out his saxophone skills and
the picture of him, like the video actually viral. He's
got this chin strap underneath his nose, so he looks
like a complete dingus. Uh but yeah, pretty fun.
Speaker 3 (41:53):
That's what they do. You do know that, right, No,
it goes under the chin drum major. Some of them
put it under their nose.
Speaker 10 (41:59):
Oh well, he's a saxophonist, so I don't know if
I want my nose covered.
Speaker 4 (42:02):
I wonder if he was really playing it or if
he was airplaying it.
Speaker 10 (42:06):
