Get this you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
Oh, get a Jonas song?
Speaker 4 (00:41):
Socks, Come on, Jonas, I'm over it, man, this is
wordy LeVar here.
Speaker 5 (00:50):
What he didn't do?
Speaker 3 (00:51):
You don't have it in you. I just don't have
it in you.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Hright.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
First of all, there's racial connotations with that statement. With
that I don't appreciate. And secondly, all of our does
to get into it is say.
Speaker 6 (01:04):
You don't do it as well as he does, Joey.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
What can we get Chopper to do it? Can you
record Chopper one time? At least somebody was glass on
this show.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
I'll try.
Speaker 7 (01:15):
He always texted me that he's like, i'll see it tomorrow,
and I never see him. He always just says that
it's a weird thing he does. But that's Chopper. I'll
see you tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (01:26):
All right, Chops, I did you break his balls about
no show on the baptism or no.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
No, no.
Speaker 7 (01:34):
Actually, so my dad he was running a place and
he had smoked it and he ran it for like
fifteen years. He'd smoked cigar inside for like fifteen years
in this place, and I mean it was to the
point where like everything smelled like cigar, the carpet, the drapes,
the furniture. Like you'd walk in that place, you walk out,
(01:56):
it smells like you smoked a cigar. And so he
moved out and he's like, I gotta I gotta go
for and like clean up this and that to get
my deposit back.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
I go security deposit. Like what do you mean to
get a security post?
Speaker 7 (02:08):
You don't get that back And he's like, oh no, no,
I'll get it back. And I'm like, how is that possible?
That was like the landlord knew you guys smoked cigars
and there he's like he's like yeah, he's like he knew,
he knew. He's like, you know, as long as it's
cleaned up all that stuff. So he was bragging me yesterday,
but how he got the security deposit back? Which I
(02:28):
still am calling bs because he's like, oh yeah, he
sent me a letter to and how good we did
clean it up, you know before we before I headed
out of there, and I'm like, all right, chops, there's
no way this is true. Like, so I am trying
to verify whether or not he actually got back this
is security deposit, because that house needs to be condemned,
Like there's no way unless you got the entire place
(02:50):
or knock it down.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
There's no way you can walk in there without small cigar.
Speaker 5 (02:54):
I can't.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
The cigar smoke is awful to me. But but I
like smelling a cigar that's not lit, Like I like
smelling the the actual cigar, but the smoke.
Speaker 5 (03:05):
I don't know how people do it.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
I love cigars.
Speaker 7 (03:08):
I love them, but I don't I don't do them
that much because my uh my wife and my kids
don't like them.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
So does it? Is it like a just a social thing?
You do it on the course? Are you doing all
you're drinking?
Speaker 3 (03:18):
Like what's the what's the yeah, all the above and
all the above.
Speaker 5 (03:22):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
Not me, not my thing but yeah, some people are
you're into smoking that, so.
Speaker 5 (03:29):
It's definitely not suit you did there.
Speaker 4 (03:32):
By the way, we are excited to announce a brand
new YouTube channel for the show. Just go to YouTube
dot com forward slash at two pros FSR, or if
you're already within YouTube, just search two pros FSR. Be
sure to hit the subscribe button. Don't stop there, hit
the thumbs up icon. Comment away. Let us know who's
it shows on, whose takes on the show you like?
Easy for me to say, and go check out our
brand new channel on YouTube. Again, just search two pros
(03:54):
f SR and subscribe. By the way, the lightning strike
and it sounded like I just got struck by lightning
reading that the lightning strike golfer that I was not
able to remember at the time me Trevino.
Speaker 5 (04:06):
Was the golfer. I was trying to think.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Yeah, I think he said he got struck once.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
Yeah, yeah, so think multiple times. So apparently that's the thing.
So careful out there. If you're Dave Portnoy, don't be
making wisecracks about lightning strikes because it's you.
Speaker 7 (04:19):
I just I don't think you should say, Hey, you
guys should go do this and then not have the
experience before.
Speaker 5 (04:25):
Uh did people get upset about that?
Speaker 4 (04:27):
Were they giving you a hard time as you were,
you know, pushing back on it, or what were they?
Speaker 7 (04:32):
Oh, I'm sure because most people never actually read into
the context of something, so they wouldn't look at and go, oh,
that's a reasonable response.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
Like Dave wants us to go into a stadium and.
Speaker 7 (04:41):
On the back of the ticket the fine print have
written like if you happen to get struck by lightning,
we are not liable.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Like that's what he wants.
Speaker 7 (04:49):
He wants to subject all people to have to sit
through potentially getting struck by lightning, so there's not a
lightning delay.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
So yeah, that's uh yeah, risky way to go about things.
But it was also some risk involved with sending brock
Party out against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now should be pointed
out here we're going to be fair, We're gonna be honest.
Should be pointed out that Brady Quinn tried to make
(05:17):
the point why you rush at him, especially when you
consider he's dealing with the turf toe. Mac Jones had
won a couple of games and you had a short
week after the Jags game, in which Liam Cohne was
threatened by Robert Sala after he ran his mouth while
walking away. And now you've got a short week, You've
(05:39):
got the Rams coming up on Thursday. Brock Party didn't
practice yesterday, and now there's some question as to whether
or not he's going to be able to go, and
so it just makes you wonder based on the soreness
and how things went after the game, Yeah, what was
that about? Like why was that the move for them
to put brock Party in that position? For brock Purty
(06:00):
to get out there? There were some questions about mac
Jones and whether or not he could go. But it
just feels like the forty nine Ers might be in
a little bit difficult of a spot here on a
short week, an underdog against the Rams in a place
they usually always have home field advantage. But there is
some thought that maybe the Rams fans are starting to
show up a little bit more this year, like maybe
maybe they're gonna, you know, pack so fine, it'll be
(06:23):
like maybe seventy thirty nine Ers fans as opposed to
the twenty normally.
Speaker 5 (06:27):
Is So there's some positive outlook on things.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
Do we know if mac Jones was unable to go
last week.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
I was under the impression he was able to go,
that Rock Party was the guy. He just got the
reps with the first team and then mac Jones could go,
and they just went with Brock Purty thinking that he
was he was ready and apparently during the game everything
was fine. It was afterwards he started to experience the
soreness and then that's why they started to evaluate it
(06:59):
again and take another love. If mac Jones was available
one hundred percent healthy, wouldn't it have made sense to
just give him another game just to be safe and
then get Brock pretty ready for the big divisional game
on a short week. That to me seems like it
would make more sense than throwing him back out there.
And now you may not have him for this game
coming up against the Rams, right right.
Speaker 7 (07:22):
I mean it's tough because we don't know the exact
issue that mac Jones might have been dealing with. But
he's done well in spot duty for them, so there's
no there's no reason to force Rock Perty to go
back in there. You know, he misses him, throws high.
I'm not sure how much of it, you know, played
a role in what he was dealing with. But there's
no doubt he you know, didn't seem like his normal self.
(07:45):
So you know, now you put yourself in harm's way.
But that's unfortunately. I think that the position the forty
nine ers are in is they can't afford to lose
a step, not only in their divisional pulling the Rams,
but you know, really, when you think about the seeding
of the NFC in general, I think, if there's one
thing we've learned from the NFL this season, coming into
the year, we didn't know how good the NFC would be,
(08:06):
there's probably some more contenders than we initially thought. And
I think because of that, I might be putting more
pressure on San Francisco as they look at their chances
of not only getting to the playoff, winning the division,
but the seeding within that.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
So that all, I think plays a role in it.
Speaker 7 (08:21):
But either way, there's no rushed I think they put
Pretty back in there with the mac Jones is playing
if he is healthy enough to play, and then again
that's a big if because there was something too why
they rushed brought Pretty back.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
Yeah, And so they go on Thursday at the Rams.
Right now, the Rams are a five and a half
point favorite.
Speaker 8 (08:40):
There.
Speaker 4 (08:40):
So you know, Niners catching five and a half and
what might be close to a home game, not a
bad option there, you know, for anybody that wants to
partake on DraftKings. And I also look at I wonder
if the Rams are going to look back on that
game they gave up to the Eagles, and that's going
(09:02):
to be the difference between that game being played at
so far and that game being played in Philly again
if they meet again. Because I just get this funny
feeling that the Rams are going to make a run
and they're going to be in this thing at the end.
And as long as Matthew Stafford stays healthy, as long
as they can just keep him healthy, then that's a
team that could be one of those contenders in the NFC.
(09:24):
The Niners, I don't see it. And now you know,
with the injuries and now it's up in the air
with the with the brock Purty stuff, you know now
and who knows? And do we know whether or not
Robert Salo is going to be fine for the death
threat he gave Liam Cohen after the game, Well, I mean,
you know, saying you're going to end somebody's life.
Speaker 5 (09:42):
I don't know. If the NFL would think kindly of that,
But you know, I don't think he should be.
Speaker 7 (09:46):
First off, first off, i've never heard that the audio
where he actually said that. You were based this all
on some lip reader, you know, some guy who probably
is making up the fact. He's a liperator, very similar
to those side language people hey walk into like any
local municipality.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
And like, oh yeah, I could sign whatever you guys
are saying.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
I mean, listen, there's difference between work and then honest work.
You know, that's not honest work, but it is work.
I mean they're doing something. You know, she's flashing her
hands in the air. She doesn't know what she's actually saying,
whether it's the jingle bells that was reported or not.
And this lip reader, look he got the Liam Comb
part right, you know, keep my name out of your mouth.
And then Robert Sala apparently said afterwards, I will blow
(10:28):
your world up or I will f your world up
or something like that, and then I will end your
effing life was the quote from Robert Sala. So I'm
just wondering whether or not he'll hear from the end.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
Again, all based on a lip reader's interpretation.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
And also credit to Pete Prisco yesterday. I didn't put
I didn't tie it together. But Robert Sala was the
other finalist for the Jags job that Liam Cohne got,
So maybe there was some of that from Robert Sala.
So little red ass, yeah, a little Pete Prisco, you know,
trying to find and you know what the reasoning was.
But you know, it seems like Prisco was going to
(11:04):
take the Liam cohenside of things anyways, because he still
feels like he's got he's got some loyalty to the
Jacksonville Jaguars.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
It was not a doubt.
Speaker 7 (11:12):
He still does a radio show for them with Tony
or I don't know if Paselli's doing it anymore, but
he usually does a local radio show there in Jacksonville.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
Some people consider Pete the mayor of Jacksonville.
Speaker 5 (11:22):
But he doesn't live there anymore.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
No, it does not.
Speaker 5 (11:26):
Okay, all right, I mean, yep, well I know this.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
The Jaguars I think are much better than I initially
thought that they were going to be going.
Speaker 5 (11:35):
Into this season.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
And also the Jaguars, and speaking of the Rams, the
Colts lost that game true statement against the Rams. Now
I think ad Mitchell had a lot to do with that. Okay,
the driving let's just pause there. Okay, was that the
worst funnel you've ever seen going in the end zone?
That's that's pretty bad. And that's one of those ones
(11:57):
to where I hate the rule and we've talked about
it before where if a guy fumbles the ball into
the end zone and it goes out of the end zone,
the other team gets it and they get it at
the twenty.
Speaker 5 (12:05):
It's one of the worst rules.
Speaker 7 (12:07):
It's not a great rule that But let's not distract
from the point because there's two there's two ways this happens.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
There's the guy who like lets it drop behind.
Speaker 7 (12:16):
Him as they're running, and that's like a lack of
spatial awareness, like he's not exactly sure where he's at,
nor does he care to make sure he's across the
goal line before he looks cool. This one was like,
all right, I'm getting ready to celebrate and look cool. Yeah,
but I watched it while I was going across the
goal line.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (12:35):
Yeah, that's a bad one too. And got called for
a holding penalty on the Jonathan Taylor run that would
have would have given him the lead.
Speaker 7 (12:42):
Later on, By the way, if he does that, like
on like the twenty or fifteen, probably recovers it, like
probably ends up recovering it for a touchdown. Yeah, so
it's kind of unlucky to happen like right at the Goala.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
So the moral of the story is, if you're gonna
do that, do it ten yards previous to that, and
then maybe you give yourself a give yourself a chance.
Speaker 7 (13:00):
But I just don't get him, man, I don't like,
like what in a player's mind is going on where
he thinks that like that Trump's making sure I'm in
the end zone for the touchdown. I'll never understand it.
It never makes sense to me. While you wouldn't want
to be like check that box for box first, like
(13:20):
let's make sure it's a touchdown before we do something
that we think is gonna be cool or fans are
gonna think it's cool, or like whatever touchdown celebration you
want to talk.
Speaker 4 (13:30):
About, especially if you're the Colts and everybody just assumes
that it's fools gold, like, oh yeah, they're gonna get God.
At one point, they should have won that game, like
that's a that's a big win for Indianapolis to go
and beat the Rams in a year that everyone thinks, ah, yeah,
you know, sooner or later, you know they're gonna get exposed.
(13:51):
And then you go back and you look at that
and go, that was that was costly? Like that cost
him a touchdown there? He also held on it. It
just yeah, that's it. That's a bad look for for
the Colts and you know, not great for ad Mitchell
who I saw a report that he had to he
addressed the team before before practice on Monday.
Speaker 5 (14:10):
So I'm not sure what that what good that do?
Speaker 3 (14:13):
That's usually what happens.
Speaker 4 (14:15):
But that's that's the report from the Rams and the
Niners and the teams that they just that they just
played as they get ready to go on Thursday Night Football, which,
by the way, two weeks in a row we get
the NFC West on Amazon Prime Thursday Night Football.
Speaker 5 (14:29):
What's that about?
Speaker 3 (14:30):
Yeah, how do you feel about that?
Speaker 5 (14:31):
I mean, we can't mix in some other divisions or
other teams, Like what do we do?
Speaker 3 (14:35):
That's on you.
Speaker 5 (14:36):
That's on you, not me. Man.
Speaker 4 (14:38):
By the way, do you want to let you know

comes on and we know that you're about ready to
come on the air with us something about it.
Speaker 8 (16:52):
I gotta be honest with you. I am. I mean,
I didn't expect the fencing promo right before I came in.
Speaker 10 (16:57):
I mean, that's yeah, I'm probably probably giving me a
hundred guesses on what was fencing was like one on
one and I'm into it.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
Have you done fencing before?
Speaker 8 (17:12):
My oldest son did when we were living in New
York did fencing for like one, like maybe like six
weeks and it was awesome.
Speaker 5 (17:24):
It was awesome.
Speaker 8 (17:26):
Little kids just stabbing each It was crazy.
Speaker 5 (17:31):
I mean, one way to do it.
Speaker 4 (17:32):
By the way, speaking of violence, do you think Robert
Sala is gonna get fined for uh maybe allegedly uh
you know, giving a death threat to Lee?
Speaker 8 (17:40):
Yeah, you think Robert the Robert Sala Liam Cohen Cohen
like that wasn't on my Bengo card. But I mean
there was a lot of like just people chose violence
the you know, Ben Johnson, I mean there was a
lot this weekend it was it was Is it me or.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
Are these coaches hyped up on something?
Speaker 7 (18:00):
They all look like they're like teetering on I don't know,
some vitamin T or some booger sugar.
Speaker 8 (18:06):
I don't know, we're not I thought the smelling soult
salts were supposed to pease banned, but you.
Speaker 5 (18:11):
Know, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
It feels like they're for individual consumption right.
Speaker 7 (18:16):
I believe that's what the NFL came out said, is
the teams just can't provide them, but.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
The players can use them.
Speaker 7 (18:22):
Very similar to Aaron Rodgers who cracked on open right
before he threw the touchdown pass.
Speaker 8 (18:27):
DK Metcalf exactly exactly.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
Dean, where are we at on the kickoff?
Speaker 7 (18:33):
I believe based on the stats that I'm receiving from
Mike Pereira, it's made a dramatic impact on the play
itself actually being a play that matters now in football.
Speaker 8 (18:45):
Yeah. Yeah, No, I think this is like we've talked
about they you know, the play is back or or
push it. You know, seventy five, seventy six, seventy seven
percent of kicks returned, we're getting long returns, we're getting
you know, lowing jury ray. You know, I know, Mike, Mike,
Mike p sends the email out and he's always like
he's like, comsassinated by this and like, are you Mike?
(19:07):
Is it that fascinating? I mean, they just they changed it.
It's we're going to get a lot of kick returns.
But I think the league is really happy with where
where they're at. You know, they'll just continue to be
interesting to see what the you know, what the scoring
numbers look like at the end of this year with
the touchback being into thirty five and where the drive
start ends up. Uh, but I think this is this
is it's good for the play and because look as
(19:29):
recently as three years ago, they were talking about taking
this play out altogether. So it's been a dramatic, dramatic turnaround.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
Dean Blandino joining us here on Fox Sports Radio. So
we brought this up earlier, and I wanted to ask
you about it because I just don't get it. So
right before halftime of the Illinois USC game on Saturday,
it looked like and there was a fumble called on
the field. Illinois fumbled the football near the goal line.
They showed replay and it looked like there was a
(19:58):
clear view that he was down, yet they still kept
with the call. And it was one of those really
egregious moments to where you can't figure out, what are
you seeing that we're not seeing. Did you happen to
get a glance at the play, and why was that
call kept a fumble when it looked like it was
(20:19):
very obvious that he was down and on the ground.
Speaker 8 (20:23):
Yeah, you know, I kind of I thought he was
down as well. It just looks like and what goes
into those decisions, and it's a very high standard to overturn.
Right the language it used to be used to say
in disputable and then now it's clear and obvious. And
they really wanted to jump out, so it's consistent. So
it's not it's not just us looking at the play
(20:45):
and looking at it for ten minutes and piecing eight
different angles together and then everybody at home going, well,
how did you change it? They wanted to really jump out.
Here's the shot, here's here's the knee on the ground,
here's the ball. I think that's that's where that I
haven't really analyzed that play too closely, but I think
that's where that decision ends up. It's like, Okay, there's
(21:06):
some somebody and there's multiple people involved in that decision.
You've got a replay official in the replay booth, you've
got a command center. Big ten has a command center
back in Chicago, and the referee, and so somebody just
plans one little seat of doubt then they're going to go, Okay,
well we don't have enough. It's not clear and obvious
we're gonna let the play. You know, we're going to
(21:27):
uphold it. I think that's where that one probably landed.
There's going to be plays like that where you see
it and you go, man, I said, that looks like
you down, but for some reason they're just somebody had
some doubt and they let it stand.
Speaker 7 (21:39):
Can I ask this though, like, how are these officials
being coached on plays like that? Because you know, in
that instance it's a turnover, it can automatically be reviewed
then correct, so that in that case, if they called
that he was down, they can't review it. So they're
almost like better off letting it play out and then
hoping that they have a camera angle that's able to
(21:59):
get give them that sort of you know, conclusive evidence
is that is.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
That it's working.
Speaker 8 (22:04):
Yeah, that's one of the That's one of the little
quirks with replay is that you can still review it
if they roll them down. But if the defense picks
it up and and and runs it back for eighty yards,
if the officials roll it down, they can't give the advance.
So your take, if you roll down, you better be
one hundred percent sure because if there is that big
return and now replay shows that it was a fumble.
(22:26):
The best they can do is give the ball to
the to the you know, whichever defender recovered it at
that spot. So there is always going to be a
lean toward let it play out. I think sometimes we
see that go too far where there's like an obvious
especially on pass fumble with the quarterback right, it's an
obvious pass and they just like kind of let it
play out, and then everybody's kind of wondering, like what wait,
(22:49):
what that wasn't a pass and then replay comes in
quickly and corrects it. So there is that that element
now with replay where it's better to let it play out.
You still want the officials toll on what they see.
If you're sure you're in good position, you see it,
call it, don't be indecisive, don't officiate to replay. But
I mean that is a reality that the officials have
(23:11):
to have to deal with.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
Dean Blandino joining us here on Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports,
NFL and College Football Rules analyst with us here on
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe. So, have you
seen anything either in the NFL or in college through
the first you know, four or five weeks of the
season that you look at and go, they got to
get better at that in a hurry. As far as
inconsistencies anything that you've seen that is a problem right
(23:36):
now from an officiating standpoint.
Speaker 8 (23:39):
Well, I know, if we talk about college I mean,
every targeting is usually the number one topic. I think,
you know, I always see there's there's there tends to
be a lot of conversation about targeting early. There's usually
a spike in the numbers because right these these these
kids practicing, they're not hitting, they're not going at full
speed the way that they do during games, you know,
(24:00):
in in in fall practice and those types of things.
So you do see a little bit of an uptick.
I think everybody's kind of you get now into week five,
you've got you know, conference plays started, so I think
everybody kind of settles in. You're always going to have
these calls that you you can debate. The one thing,
the one thing I hate right now in college football
is is the substitution. And when the offense subs and
(24:23):
the defense and you see the and they milk it
and you get you get these these big defensive linemen
that are doing the walk cap job.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
I love it. I love it. It's so good though,
it's so.
Speaker 8 (24:35):
Good to get my car, you know, it's like that.
Speaker 7 (24:38):
Just in that instance though, in that instance, do they
stop the play clock to allow for it that started
back up?
Speaker 3 (24:48):
Did they st the play clock? Run?
Speaker 1 (24:49):
Oh?
Speaker 8 (24:49):
The play clock goes So when you sub, the way
it works, the offense subs and you'll see the you'll
see the referee they put both arms out right, and
so that they call that. That opens up the window.
Now the defense has three seconds to bring in their subs,
and if you don't sub within that three seconds, then
you're on your own. But then once that substitution process,
once that first sub steps on the field for the defense,
(25:12):
now they get a chance to complete that substitution until
they lolligag onto the field and then okay, you know, Joe,
I'm gonna I'm gonna get in my stance. You go
off the field, and some teams are really good. Now,
if that play clock goes to zero and the and
the defense was within the referee fields like they were
within that reasonable amount of time, it's going to be
it's going to be a delay game.
Speaker 5 (25:34):
Seeze, all right, I mean that's fun.
Speaker 4 (25:37):
By the way, Uh, we're talking about the Ady Mitchell
play where he fumbled the ball crossing the goal line.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
Oh my god, that's that's that's not going to change though,
is it.
Speaker 8 (25:47):
No, it's like would you everybody's like, everybody, oh, this
rule is could you imagine when when that happens and
we say, oh, by the way, dumas some you know,
started to celebrate. Now we're going to give him the
ball back at the half yard line. I mean, it's
a touch back. It's the end zone. Like, don't that
one get in the end zone?
Speaker 4 (26:06):
That one right there, like that deserves to go the
other direction and the other team gets the ball. But
in cases to where it's not intentional or a guy
you know, is reaching for the goal line, totally get it.
Speaker 8 (26:18):
Totally get it. So it can't have two separate rules.
Speaker 4 (26:21):
So is that Has that ever been brought up at all,
like in the off season?
Speaker 1 (26:26):
Oh?
Speaker 8 (26:26):
Absolutely?
Speaker 4 (26:27):
And so what's what's the pushback on why a ball
going out of the end zone goes to the other
team plus an extra twenty yards.
Speaker 11 (26:35):
It's it's consistent with with the other rules in terms
of when when you when when you as a team
put the ball into your opponent's end zone.
Speaker 8 (26:46):
Whether that's on a punt, whether that's on a kickoff, right,
a fumble into the end zone, that's a touchback. So
so it's consistent from that standpoint. The comp Tish Committee'
feailing was always the end zones different, right, that's that's
it's not like at the fifty yard line. It's it's
there's a lot of reward getting the ball into the
end zone, but there should be some risk. And look,
(27:08):
I get it. I get it when the when the
running back is diving for the end zone and he's
trying to hit that pilon and the ball just happens
to come loose six inches from the pilon and then
hits it. That feels really tough to make that a touchback.
But then you watch the play with the guy's celebrating
and you're like, that should be a touchback. So my
thing is it's tough to say, Okay, there's two different
(27:29):
roles for those two situations. I like that it's simple.
I like that it's consistent, and I just think that, hey,
hold on to the football when when you're near the
goal line. I think that's that's the biggest thing for me.
Speaker 3 (27:40):
It'll never make sense to me.
Speaker 7 (27:41):
I'm not sure what goes on inside a player's head
or is that first, like let's get the touchdown first,
then celebrate.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
But I digress. We had some sound from Sasgard earlier.
Speaker 7 (27:53):
He feels like, if you play it a bad team,
there's just more calls against you versus some of the
better teams.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
Actually, how we put it, I will.
Speaker 7 (28:02):
Say this in his defense team Philly, And this has
become like a thing on social media. People are putting
out clips of their dbs getting.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
Away with murder. So, yeah, I understand there's differences in cruise,
et cetera. But I mean, is there anything to this
as far as what Sauce is saying?
Speaker 8 (28:21):
Yeah, I don't look, I don't think. And they've done studies,
and you know, ESPN did a deal where they went
back twenty years and looked at fouls against certain teams
and all the teams, and there's just no rhyme or reason.
It's different cruise. It's different to cruise change year to year.
I think. I think the bad teams tend to make
more mistakes. Good teams tend to make less mistakes. And
(28:42):
I was we had the Eagles Bucks team and Queenyon
Mitchell man he is handy right like GRAVI like he is,
and and a lot like bar mitzvah right. Hopefully, come
on take the bag you want to. I didn't want to. No,
(29:05):
I'm not going to go there. But but the thing
is and some and look, there were teams Seattle was
great at that when the Legion of Boom they were.
They would play aggressive, they would hold, they would grab
because they're like, you're not going to call. You might
call it, you might call it once, you might call
it twice, you're not gonna call it six times in
a row. And we're gonna win. We're gonna win those
(29:26):
other downs and so and you do see some of
these these players. That's one guy, you know, he got
called a couple of times. He could have gotten called
a lot more. I don't think it's not a team thing.
It's just it's just the officials. They're trying to do
the best they can. It's different crews, like I said,
they change. And just think sometimes over time though you
will see that even out when you look at the numbers,
(29:47):
not just within one season, it's it's over over a longer,
longer period.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
Well, do officials go into games, you know, saying, hey,
this team's got a reputation of this, be on the
lookout or you know it, like, is there I don't
know if it's a game plan, but is there sure
any sort of scouting from an officiating standpoint, Hey, watch
out for this when this team is playing and you
have this game.
Speaker 8 (30:09):
They do they do, so they'll they'll scout, they'll look
at it, they'll look at tape on the two teams
and what they'll they'll try not to look at, say, hey,
if one particular player, they won't go too far down
that because then you you almost get get in your head, Oh,
I got to be looking at the left tackle has
led the league in holds, and then I'm almost like
(30:31):
prejudicing myself to be like, oh, focusing so much on
the left tackle, I missed something else. But there are tendencies, right,
you scout your opponent, just like the officials are going
to scout the two teams. So there are tendencies there are, Hey,
they play aggressive in the secondary, they do this, and
sure y artists they you know they how are we
going to officiate to push those types of things? So
they are scouting, they try to stay away from you know,
(30:52):
targeting one specific player and unless it's like, hey, this
guy every play after the play, he's you know, it's
if DK metcalf Is is playing Jalen Ramsey. We got
to be we got to be on top of that
at the you know, post play and then and find
those two guys because that could get out of hand.
But but yeah, they do scout, but they'll try not
(31:14):
to get so focused on one player so they don't
lose other things that are happening.
Speaker 4 (31:19):
Dean Blandino with us here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (31:22):
Dean, what else is going on in your life? Man?
Speaker 7 (31:24):

is like the nicest kindest always like just so supportive,
you know, and we you know, I love Tom and
we we kind of made fun of him at the
I don't know if you were in the room at
the time. It was the NFL part of the seminar,
(32:18):
and we we we said we made fun of Tom
and said, you know nothing, nothing to be more fired
up for a day of college football watching some you know,
a Tom Ornaldi piece on some chid that lost his
family in a hot air balloon accident and is dedicating
his season to them, just with the music, I feel,
(32:40):
Let's Nebraska, Michigan.
Speaker 7 (32:41):

But clearly you took that at.

when I'm with you.
Speaker 7 (33:09):
I don't get it, by the way, I mean forget,
forget like the fact that you really don't have much
control over how those things operate. And by the way,
you're in a basket. You're in a basket. It's twenty
fivest like, we can't create a carbon fiber like thing
to stand in.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
We've got a basket like someone wove that.
Speaker 4 (33:28):
It's a basket, a balloon, and a giant flame over
your head. Now you should be fine. Hey, look at that,
Look at this. We should be fine. And then next
thing you know, you're caught up in a you know,
in an electrical wire, and everything goes, Hey, what.
Speaker 8 (33:39):
What what are we doing? It's just I don't know.
Speaker 7 (33:42):
I think everyone knows the guy who literally gotten a
hot air ballue.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
Next, like, I know what, I've got a buddy.
Speaker 5 (33:47):

Speaker 7 (33:48):
Yeah, you don't have one. No, you don't get out much.
I betans Dean's probably know someone.
Speaker 8 (33:55):

you guys traveling?

is nice Commanders and Chargers. No, that'll be you know,
Commanders obviously hopefully Jayden's back. Chargers coming off their first loss,
so we'll see it'll be good. Hopefully it'll be a
good game.

Here's the all right, so we got rain and.
Speaker 6 (38:04):
We take it over the house today.
Speaker 12 (38:06):
Ladies in here, what are we looking at? We have
a couple of different topics I wanted to talk about today.
The biggest story I've seen though, is the missing falcons
at Sofi Stadium.
Speaker 5 (38:15):
What do you mean?
Speaker 6 (38:16):
Yes, they I.
Speaker 12 (38:18):
Know this sounds crazy, but they actually hire birds, right,
So they have falcons that they keep there to keep smaller,
peskier birds away.
Speaker 6 (38:26):
So they keeps.
Speaker 12 (38:28):
Yes, so they actually you're wondering how would how would
these birds go missing?
Speaker 6 (38:33):
They're missing, there's two missing.
Speaker 12 (38:35):
Well, it turns out they keep them in green boxes
on the back of a golf cart when they're not working.
So they were on shift, but they were not on
duty at the moment, and someone came up and stole
the golf cart with the falcons in the back.
Speaker 6 (38:48):
So they are currently missing.
Speaker 3 (38:50):
So someone's got too badass falcons.
Speaker 12 (38:52):
Yeah, could you imagine opening that box and being like, oh, Malanta,
those are predatory birds.
Speaker 5 (38:59):
I mean, And when did this happen?
Speaker 6 (39:01):
Yesterday Sunday? It was Sunday. They played Sunday around two
thirty pm. They went missing, So.
Speaker 5 (39:07):
During the game.
Speaker 3 (39:09):
Well, yeah, that's the perfect time to do it.
Speaker 4 (39:13):
So somebody's like, hey, there's a game going on, let's
steal these falcons and a golf cart, and.
Speaker 12 (39:17):
Their falconer is obviously very worried. The guy who controls
them and trains them, well should.
Speaker 3 (39:22):
Yeah, have you ever met one of those A guy
who's in a falconry. Yes, they're intense.
Speaker 12 (39:27):
How cool to have like these big ginormous predators on.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
Your own look at it?
Speaker 5 (39:32):
Yeah, yeah, that is cool.
Speaker 7 (39:33):
Well, I bet you've got a follower who's big in
the falconry, like a guy who sends you stuff.
Speaker 3 (39:37):
They're probably also the falcons.
Speaker 6 (39:38):
You know, if they want to send me a falcon. No,
I don't want a pet falcon. That'd be crazy. I
don't want to.
Speaker 5 (39:43):
No, you don't. You don't want anything with that everything else.
Speaker 3 (39:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 12 (39:47):
Actually, I want to talk about your Ryder Cup prices
because I know you're super into that, and drinks are crazy.
A michelob Ultra is fifteen dollars. That's a two dollars beer.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
It's fifteen. Yeah, I'm not for that.
Speaker 6 (40:03):
Yeah, all the prices there are pretty crazy.
Speaker 5 (40:04):
To be honest, Brady's an ip A guy.
Speaker 6 (40:06):
Anyways, I'd probably pull a lee and sneak my own in.
Speaker 3 (40:10):
That's probably true.
