(00:57):
bit of breaking news from the NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Breaking news from Fox Sports.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
The schedule release is happening this week and they are
releasing bits and pieces of the schedule before Wednesday, when
they'll release the full schedule. And one of those bits
and pieces they just announced, courtesy of the NFL on
X that week one the opener, the Philadelphia Eagles will
(01:26):
host the Dallas Cowboys to start the season. So it'll
be let's go Cowboys Eagles to open up your twenty
twenty five season. There, and I'm currently efforting to see
if I can get a line on that courtesy of
our friends at DraftKings, because Philadelphia should annihilate them. That
(01:47):
should be a total wipeout. So we're not gonna have
to wait there.
Speaker 5 (01:51):
We got George Pickens, now man. You know they got
Dak Prescott coming back.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
You know they got cde Lamb.
Speaker 5 (01:58):
They're going to have a happily paid, new, new, well
paid defensive player and Michael Parsons. Yeah, Brian Schottenheimer's coaching.
He's going to have all of their lockers reordered. And which,
by the way, that got a lot of run. I
mean a lot of people were really upset with me.
Apparently I'm a horrible person for saying that veterans having
(02:20):
a locker room or their own locker and maintaining their
locker is a horrible thing. But hey, you know it's up.
I've been called worse based off of worse things, you
know before.
Speaker 6 (02:30):
They came at you for that. Oh my gosh.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
No, I don't get it. Yeah, I don't get It's unfortunate,
but you know what, they will be a better team
this year. I'm gary, No, I'm not.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
I'm joking. That was a joke.
Speaker 6 (02:45):
So it is going to be.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
So Cowboys Eagles will be the game on Thursday night.
Reportedly the Brazil game is going to be the Chargers
and the Chiefs on the Friday night, so they're not
waiting around like we're gonna go uh vision on Division
to start out the the first couple of games of
the NFL season.
Speaker 6 (03:05):
So that's the uh away we go and uh and
away we go.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
For the Dallas Cowboys coverage to start out the year.
So we're gonna get that to open up the NFL season.
So again, that's the the news, the schedule release. They'll
release bits and pieces and pieces of this throughout the
course of the week, and Cowboys Eagles to open up
the season Thursday night, September.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
So, going back to a philosophical discussion we had about
the playoffs and winning your division and the importance of
winning your division hosting a home playoff game. You guys
remember kind of the rant I went on back then
where I feel like your overall record should supersede winning
the division as far as hosting a home playoff game.
You win your division, you're in the playoffs, but you
(03:48):
still have to stack up to other teams that may
have a better record, may plan a tougher division, that
that aren't winning their division.
Speaker 7 (03:54):
But I digress.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
One of the reasons why I bring that up is
if it feels like the NFL likes to schedule early
and then late divisional games because the importance of the division. Well,
I would argue as a former player, and I even
think speaking for coaches, etc. Like it's kind of tough
to then play right out the gate a divisional game
(04:19):
to start the season, as opposed to something that's maybe
in week four, five, six seven. Once she kind of
gets your wheels going, especially considering no one plays in
preseason anymore, you have less preseason games, so I don't
feel like teams get their feet underneath them. They really
start to settle in until about two, three, four, weeks
in the season now, and so because of that, I
(04:41):
kind of hate the fact that we've got Even though
it's awesome, I love the matchup, I do hate the
importance of what that game could end up meeting. I
do think Dallas has a chance to be with some
of the talent they have a playoff team.
Speaker 7 (04:55):
Philly's obviously the favorite to win the division.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
But I look at that just say it kind of
you know, if there's flud games that have all the time,
week one, all the time, and for like the number
one overall seed in the NFC, which is easier to
get than the AFC, I'll admit that. But for Philly
to try to get back to repeat, to try to
which I think this roster is very capable of. You know,
(05:20):
they lost Kellen Moore, so Kevin Patulo, who was their
passing game coordinator, he's elevated into the offensive coordinator spot.
And then they'll continue to divide up the run game
coordinating parks phrases, and do their new passing game coordinator.
So they've got, you know, a little bit of change
there on their staff. But for the most part, you know,
this is a team that I think is a really
good shot at repeating and having home field advantage, getting
(05:42):
the buy all those things are so important, and having
to play a divisional opponent week one, it's tough sledding, man.
I mean, it's self setting for a team in Dallas
that maybe you guys look at them and say they're
a fringe wildcard team, or maybe they're not even a
playoff team in your mind, whatever the case may be.
I'm just saying, I'm not sure I'm a huge fan
of seeing divisional games right out the gate. I just
(06:04):
if they're gonna be that important, if that's how the
league views them, I'd rather than be a little further
into the season.
Speaker 7 (06:11):
That's just my take.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
H It's kind of like we've talked about this before,
you know, when like the big college football matchups at
the start of the year, like you schedule those big
power non con matchups, like when Alabama would play a
USC or somebody like that to open up the season, Like, yeah,
you're kind of working through stuff, so why would you
schedule a conference game at that point if it's going
(06:34):
to have an impact later on in the year. And
it's the same thing the NFL actually hasn't scheduled the
season opener as a division matchup in like five or
six years, and it feels like a division game people
are going to be all in on no matter what.
At any point in the year you had other options.
I'm just surprised that they decided to roll out Dallas
(06:57):
this early like it, And maybe.
Speaker 6 (06:59):
They but why.
Speaker 5 (07:00):
I mean, you're gonna have a tremendously large viewing audience.
Speaker 6 (07:05):
You're gonna have that anyways.
Speaker 5 (07:06):
You're gonna have that anyways, but maybe more so than
than in other games. I mean, name another matchup that's
gonna be competitive to that.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
So the potential matchup outside of the division, the potential
matchups for the Eagles could have been the Lions, the Bears,
the Rams, the Broncos, and the Raiders like that.
Speaker 5 (07:28):
They could have scheduled as the first game. Yeah, instead
of putting against in that first spot. Yeah, I mean
that makes sense, you know, Detroit makes sense. I don't
think any of those are bigger games than the Eagles Dallas.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
Game though, And I'm I'm of the same mindset.
Speaker 5 (07:46):
That that Q just just presented to the conversation. But
with that being said, there isn't a bigger matchup coming
into it than that and I will say this, who
knows if Philadelphia is as good as they were this
past year. Who knows if Dallas will be any good?
(08:08):
So why not leverage what you can leverage out of that,
in particular at its highest peak of interest, which could
most definitely and safely be game number.
Speaker 6 (08:21):
One, wouldn't you guys?
Speaker 4 (08:22):
If they were going to go division game to open
up the year, I would have much rather be Washington
than Dallas. Like the way that played out where they're
jumping over the tush push, all that stuff that played
out in the playoff game. Washington's got all this optimism,
They're one of the more exciting teams in the league.
Speaker 5 (08:39):
It makes sense, and some would say historically speaking, that's
a bigger rivalry game too, but I think in recent
years Dallas and Philly have become more of the bigger
rivalry game. And again, I don't know for how long
Dallas will be relevant, you know, adoring the court of
(09:00):
the season, so coming in no losses, no wins, I
mean you got to believe that that's people are at
the height of their excitement for Dallas coming into it.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
So I think it's a very ve.
Speaker 7 (09:14):
You gotta get getting.
Speaker 4 (09:16):
This good, good before they before.
Speaker 7 (09:21):
How about this for an idea?
Speaker 1 (09:22):
All right, why not the opening game of the season
every year? Now, this takes away from this segment and
the announcement, but why not make it a Super Bowl rematch?
And I understand that's hard to do because in the
scheduling process there Philly has to go to Kansas City
at some point the season, we don't know when, and
(09:43):
this has to be a home game for the super
Bowl winning team. But all I'm saying is it'd be
pretty dope if they started off the season with a
rematch from teams that played what seven months six months prior.
Speaker 5 (09:54):
I guess it should always be that.
Speaker 7 (09:57):
That's what I'm saying, Like would not be kind of sweet.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
And then you see there's some you know, maybe carry
over from the Super Bowl, some hard feelings. You can
see which team has gotten better in the offseason or
made some additions, and as a measuring stick of what
was a year.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
Ago, Yeah, I would like that. I wouldn't have a
problem with that at all. I mean, I've read that
I'd rather see that than than Dallas. I just I
don't know.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Man.
Speaker 7 (10:22):
For the record, I'm not poo pooing on Dallas like
you guys are.
Speaker 5 (10:25):
I'm not poo pooing on them. I'm just saying it's safe.
It is safe to get them.
Speaker 7 (10:30):
You're saying for a ratings perspective, it's correct.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
Correct. I get that, Yeah, correct, that's all I mean.
Speaker 5 (10:36):
You can maximize it like versus if you do a
week seven or eight, you know, and it's like dang,
like Dallas really stinks, you know, or it might have
worked out. They might be, you know, both teams might
be in really really strong positions, might even be challenging
for the division at that point. I don't know, but
(10:58):
I do know you can't miss if neither one of
them has a win or a loss on their record.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
Can't miss.
Speaker 5 (11:06):
That's for sure. We're going to be excited. It's the
beginning of the season. Philadelphia Eagle fans are are nuts.
Dallas Cowboy fans are delusion elite nuts. You bring the
two together and you got a great first game to
roll out to people. I like the idea, even though
(11:27):
it's divisional. If you don't like the fact that's divisional.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
It feels kind of lazy, Like last year you had
Ravens Chiefs and like everyone kind of realized, Yeah, those
are two teams that are going to go places. This
just feels like, well it's Dallas, They've got a name
brand will throw them on.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
So I don't buy that.
Speaker 5 (11:43):
I don't think that's what They could be good this year, Jonas,
Why you don't don't think that they have a chance
to be competitive? They could be good. What if they
come out in the first game and beat the breaks
off of the Eagles. That isn't happen, But what if
they do?
Speaker 7 (11:58):
Do we see flukes all the time week one?
Speaker 2 (12:00):
Well, that is true all the time.
Speaker 5 (12:02):
Didn't didn't Baltimore beat Kansas City in Week one last year?
Speaker 2 (12:05):
No?
Speaker 6 (12:06):
Remember this foot was too far over the back end line?
Speaker 2 (12:10):
That was close? Yeah, that is right, that was close. Well,
there you go. I don't know. You do happen, but.
Speaker 7 (12:17):
There's always some surprises.
Speaker 5 (12:19):
I would not be surprised if Dallas beat Philly in
in Week one. I would not be surprised. You just
writing them off. I don't know why you're writing them off.
There's no reason to write them off, Joe.
Speaker 6 (12:31):
I mean, it sticks picks, so you're going down.
Speaker 5 (12:35):
I wouldn't go that far right as far as to
say Dallas is.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
Going to be good.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
We played the I I love him.
Speaker 5 (12:44):
I did not say that that that was not a
representation of me.
Speaker 4 (12:48):
Sheesh. All right, So one team that is not going
to be featured in primetime most likely WEEKWAD will be
the Cleveland Browns. The Cleveland Browns are most likely going
to be starting Joe Flacco at quarterback this upcoming year.
But the big storyline there in Cleveland is what went
(13:08):
on at Rookie OTA's first day. Was Dylan Gabriel getting
the first reps. The second day was Shador Sanders getting
the first reps. And here was Shador talking over the
weekend there in Cleveland, thank you.
Speaker 8 (13:21):
For saying that because I don't like my job here
isn't approved people wrong?
Speaker 5 (13:24):
Like I prove myself right, that's that's that's I and
I fully still believe what those people say.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
That's that's just their opinion. So I don't truly care.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
They don't really live in my mental space about that
type of stuff.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Really didn't do anything for me.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
There's been more coverage about a third round and a
fifth round quarterback at rookie OTAs than the first overall
pick and cam Ward like this really.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
Is wrapped around.
Speaker 5 (13:52):
You gotta get your mind wrapped around the fact that
if Kenny Pickett or Joe Flacco aren't let go, which
I think that one of them is the starter and
one of them is the backup. That's what I believe.
I don't I'm not budgeting on that those two will
be on the roster. Who is not going to be
(14:13):
on the roster. And that's why this is. This is
such coverage because you got a third rounder.
Speaker 7 (14:19):
I'm telling you they're they're both gonna make the roster.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
So so here's one thing I'd say is if it's
close to and you just drafted both between the third
and fifth round, and maybe even whoever's backing a Flacco,
assuming Flacco gets the start, wouldn't you sit there and
say them like, how are you getting rid of either one?
Speaker 7 (14:41):
And and? And? As I said.
Speaker 4 (14:42):
Before, carry what makes carry three?
Speaker 5 (14:45):
Three live in one practice squad?
Speaker 1 (14:49):
How how do you car There's there's teams who do that. Yeah,
you could, you could easily do that. But what I
think went up happening is I think the release can
you piket I think if things don't go well or
pick it doesn't start, I think he gets released, and
they'll end up allowing him the opportunity to go somewhere
else where he can play.
Speaker 7 (15:10):
That's how I think.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
This whole thing plays out when it's all said and done,
and think about it more than anything else. Who drafted
Shador Sanders? Do you feel like it was Andrew Berry
and Kevin Stefanski, But do you feel like the owner
was involved?
Speaker 5 (15:23):
Not by the way they their facial expressions were when
when they took him, I wouldn't, well.
Speaker 7 (15:28):
Well, let me ask you this way.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
He was polarizing because here's what I'd say. All reports
for the rookie Minicamp, especially after day one, they're like, hey,
Shoudro Sanders looks a lot sharper than Dylan Gabriel. Hey, guys, newsflash,
Shador Sanders has the ability, based on what I watched
on film, end up being the best quarterback of this
whole group. He didn't drop because of what his skills
were on tape. That wasn't why he dropped in the draft.
(15:53):
It was all the things outside of what he did
on film is why he dropped. And if the owner's involved,
you'd have to think that they're not going to then
just do away with a guy after spending a fifth
round pick on him, especially if it came with the
owner's backing, because because he was such a polarizing figure.
To Jonas's point about the discussion around the third and
(16:14):
fifth round pick in rookie mini.
Speaker 7 (16:15):
Camp, it's gotten more play than anything.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
Over the course of the weekend in the NFL, with
the exception of probably Derek carr Is retiring. And so
if it's going to get that much attention in the media,
wouldn't you think that the owner had to give his
stamp of approval or it was the owner behind it
saying I want to make this move to bring in
this guy knowing what's going to come along with it.
(16:38):
So if that's the case, I just I'm telling you,
don't be surprised when both guys end up making the roster,
And don't be surprised if Shador doesn't outplay Dylan Gabriel. Dude,
he can sing it, he can play within an NFL system.
Kevin Stefanski has showcased the ability to work with multiple
types of quarterbacks and be able to make it work.
(16:59):
Probably the only one that hasn't worked with us Deshaun Watson.
There's been flashes of it, but with him, there's been
moments where it's like it's just not a good fit.
So I have I'm telling you, don't be surprised when
it happens when we when we get to week one
of the NFL NFL season.
Speaker 5 (17:15):
The only reason why I would not be surprised at
this point is purely solely, one hundred percent based off
of your belief in it.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
That's it.
Speaker 5 (17:24):
That'd be the That is the only reason why I'll
I'll take I'll give that some type of yah thought.
That's that's the only reason. Otherwise. I look at Joe Flacco.
He's going to be better than Canny Pickett. He's going
to be better than him, and he's going to be
the starter. And that's what's going to happen. What happens
(17:45):
from there. Can can Joe Flacco maintain in the AFC
North the ability to keep this team competitive while he
stays healthy. I don't know at his age that he
can play at the level he played before, or or
at the level and stay healthy for the duration of
the year. I want somebody who has experience in the North,
(18:08):
and Kenny Pickett is that safety valve that you have
in my estimation. I don't see how they release him
if he doesn't make the starting lineup, and if he were,
let's just say he were to some way, somehow outplay
Joe Flacco and become the starter. I don't think they're
going to release Joe Flacco because they're gonna want somebody
(18:29):
who has experience that they can put in there that's
going to keep them competitive going through through the season.
Unless the theory of them trying to tank the season
to get Archie Manning is is there has truth to that.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (18:44):
I can't see them carrying four quarterbacks, and I don't
see them getting rid of Picket and Flacco not being
in the AFC North.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
But I'm going to entertain it because you said it.
Speaker 5 (18:55):
I'm entertaining this. I'm entertaining he's connected. And then who
do you put on the practice squad. It's like, Okay,
Shador went fifth round, Dylan went third round. There's a
ton of media coverage, a ton of videos coming out
of Shador way more I haven't seen really anything of
Dylan throwing the throwing the ball. So there's all of
(19:19):
this intensity on covering Shador Sanders. You're setting it up
for Shador Sanders to either being a win situation because
of the type of coverage and the pressure that will
come from the coverage of all the throws he makes,
or you're putting Dylan Gabriel in a position where he's
in a no win situation because of those same factors.
I don't know which one it is, but Stefanski's going
(19:41):
to have to navigate this one masterfully. If you ask
me four quarterbacks, I feel like one should have to go.
But if one doesn't go, let's see how that works out.
Four quarterbacks. That's wild to me.
Speaker 4 (19:52):
But Brady's conviction on the matter.
Speaker 7 (19:55):
How can you can keep highlighting this? Can we actually
acknowledge something to Dylan Gabriel, I think received a little
backlash for maybe leaving his press conference after being asked
a few questions in regards to the comparison.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
Did he he got a little bit blowlike for that.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
I think there was something about that that I saw.
Maybe it was misinterpreted or maybe they didn't understand just
the interview was over and he kind of left the
way he did. But do we have the sound by
the way of Dylan Gabriel talking to the.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
Media efforting here got the efforting Do I have Dylan
Gabriel all right?
Speaker 5 (20:27):
Five seven four, Lee, Yes, there's the number right there,
there's the right there, Lee, dial it up.
Speaker 8 (20:38):
I think it's so early, you know for me. Uh,
I said that in the sense that I only know
one way to prepare.
Speaker 7 (20:44):
I only know one way to work, and that.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
Is as the starter.
Speaker 8 (20:46):
You know, I played a bunch of ball and had
a lot of experience, so I'm gonna use that to
my advantage. But for the most part, I can't say
that right now. I got to continue to dominate the
moment and have great practices as you build upon that.
You know, I still look forward to being my new teammates,
you know, the bets on Monday. So I think that'll
be a question down the road. But I think every
(21:07):
day I approach is like I'm gonna go get that rep.
And you know.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
I live in like that. By the way, that train
you're hurt in the background. That's there in Biria, Ohio
where the good old Browns training camp is. So you
gotta love Sometimes these NFL teams, they buy the cheapest
land possible to build these training facilities. Now, don't get
me wrong, they're immaculate. Like the training facilities are nice,
(21:32):
some better than others. But it's always funny to me,
like they're near a landfill or a dump, they're near
a train like some sort of railroad track or something.
It's it's not prime real estate that they're a building on.
For the most part. I digress though. The young man
playing sixty four games in his college career. Remember he
was in college for six years, so he's mature. He's handled,
(21:56):
you know, transition from UCF to Oklahoma to Oregon.
Speaker 7 (22:00):
You know, like Dylan Gables a pros pro.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
I know there's some people who are concerned if he'll
be irritated by the shed door Sanders thing. He played
in an era where he finished I think third in
the Heisman this past year.
Speaker 7 (22:11):
Like people tend to forget.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
Dylan Gabriel was on a team that, you know what,
was able to win the Big Ten, like like they
were one of the better teams competing for a national
championship and just met an Ohio state team that was
a buzzsaw. If not, you know, who knows what happens
with Oregon. But he'll he'll hold his own in this
whole thing too. And he's not gonna be flustered by
the attention with Shdor Sanders being there.
Speaker 7 (22:35):
I don't think at least.
Speaker 5 (22:37):
Dylan and Dylan wasn't there when Dan Lanning did the
whole thing with It.
Speaker 6 (22:42):
Was the year before, right, Oklahoma, year before?
Speaker 2 (22:45):
Yeah, it was the year.
Speaker 7 (22:46):
Before for a couple of years.
Speaker 5 (22:48):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think Dylan, I don't know. I
don't know how this shakes out. I just don't see
both of them being on the roster. I don't I
don't see both of them.
Speaker 7 (23:00):
Being that's just because one of them is left handed.
Speaker 6 (23:02):
I know what it is.
Speaker 7 (23:04):
Yeah, you don't like those lefties, that's not true.
Speaker 4 (23:08):
I got a question for you guys, who is in
a worse situation Dylan Gabriel Shador Sanders, because neither one
of them is neither's in an ideal situation. I don't
know if now's the time. Maybe we want to get
to it after the break, But I just wonder if
Dylan Gabriel is not in a.
Speaker 6 (23:26):
Worse situation because.
Speaker 4 (23:29):
It's like he was taken all the coverage is gone
to Shador and it feels like.
Speaker 6 (23:35):
Dylan's kind of kind of the yeah and put.
Speaker 1 (23:39):
In a tough spot the reps haven't all gone to Shador.
You know, Dylan Gabriel started off as the guy to
take the first team reps on day one. Now Shador
took in day two. But that's the thing is he's
gonna get the benefit of out because he was a
third round pick. I think actually the better question would
be when you when you factor in Kenny pick and
Joe Flacco. Yes, Blaco's god equity built up within the
(24:00):
franchise and he's started more recently, so it's not a
tough spot for him to be in because he's kind
of seen it all, done it all. He's got a
Super Bowl, he's been in Super Bowl MVP. You know,
he's continuing to play a game and hopefully played at
a high level in his mind and helped this Browns
team succeed. But Kenny Pickett's the one that I think
has impacted the most. Oh, he got the shaft without
(24:20):
a doubt, but you get traded for there's a sense
of optimism and he's still going to get to compete.
But now you find yourself in the middle of a
quarterback battle and meanwhile everyone's worried about reps. At a
rookie mini camp between the fifth and third round pick.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
It's like somebody told Kenny Pickett. They're like, hey, by
the way, so you're gonna be Flacco's backup. There's a
chance they may take a quarterback later in the draft.
I toldally, get it, pick it in first, but they
drafted two.
Speaker 6 (24:44):
They drafted two quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
To hold on.
Speaker 7 (24:46):
Now that whole hold on.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
They brought pick it in first, and now you bring
in Flacco. They're clearly going to battle it out for
who's going to start. If they're going to battle it
out who's going to start, I don't see any of
these rookies being in that competition. And if none of
these rookies are in the competition to compete for who's
(25:09):
going to start, then that would naturally mean that the
one who doesn't win the competition is the backup.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
I know.
Speaker 7 (25:18):
But here's also what you're not thinking about. Okay.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
Let's say, for example, Flaco starts pick out once this
opportunities like just please release me now so I have
a chance.
Speaker 7 (25:29):
To go somewhere else.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Okay, especially if he feels like, you know, the third
and fifth string or fifth round picks are close behind.
Because the organization may say these guys are rookies. We
feel like they're right there with you, and if that's
the case, you know, we're probably gonna put one of
them in his backup instead of you. You know, sometimes
organizations do that, colleges do that. I think the ace
(25:50):
in the back pocket is a trade for Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 7 (25:54):
If the crap hits the fan, like.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
Let's say Flacco gets hurt and Cousins is still sitting
on the line of Hawking's roster.
Speaker 7 (26:02):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
He knows the fancy system and he's sitting out as
you know, a backup as it currently stands for Atlanta.
Speaker 5 (26:08):
I would assume that's why you brought Flacco in is
because well, maybe he needs to compete with Picket.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
This this makes sense.
Speaker 5 (26:17):
But if Flacco wins the starting job and he goes
out with an injury, if I'm if I'm Kenny Pickett,
you got to assume what you're saying. For this, all
Goda way is supposed to go. Kenny Pickett has to
want to be released. If I'm Kenny Pickett, I don't
want to be released. I don't want to be released
because I'm going to get the opportunity to play something's
going to happen with Flat I'm assuming something's going to
(26:38):
happen well, and then you're not starting somewhere else either.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
Yeah, but you have already in a camp.
Speaker 7 (26:43):
Like you're getting a team that's signing you because they
need you.
Speaker 5 (26:47):
I think they're both risky. If I have my drothers,
I'm sticking to the plan. I'm here in Cleveland, I
got I got experience in the North, and if Flacco
beats me out, then I'm going to hold this clipboard
until I go in because chances are high that I'm
going to get an opportunity to go in and play
(27:08):
as a starter in Cleveland. That's if I'm kidny Picket.
I guess you got to assume that that's not how
he's going to see it if he doesn't win the
starting job. I don't know, but all things given, you're there,
you got traded there, you're there.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
Why would you want to.
Speaker 5 (27:25):
Get released if Joe Flacco.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
Beat you out?
Speaker 6 (27:28):
He's old?
Speaker 2 (27:29):
Yeah, he's old.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
There's a better chance of Kenny Lofton starting than Kenny
take it at quarterback for the Brown's a different sport.

Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
Oh Boy, Two Pros and a Cup of Joe, Fox
Sports Radio, LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you
here coming up about ten minutes from now, but we
are going to close up shop with Lee's leftovers here
on this Monday. The breaking news out of the NFL
from a short time ago, the season opener has been announced.
It'll be Eagles, the defending champions, hosting the Dallas Cowboys
(28:36):
on Thursday, September fourth, So that'll be what to look
forward to open up the year. We are going to
now get into something that feels like it's also been
talked about here on the show several times before, and
it's the Cincinnati Bengals possibly being cheap. So what is
the story here with Shamar Stewart. Apparently he has not
(28:56):
gotten his deal done and there's some some just gossion
about why the deal hasn't been done and that the
Bengals are apparently they lacked in roster bonuses. According to
James Rapine, who covers the Bengals there in Cincinnati, that
there's some issues still going on there with trying to
get that deal done for Shamar.
Speaker 1 (29:17):
Yeah, I guess the Cincinnati Bengals have not provided a contract.
Speaker 7 (29:23):
Or an employment agreement.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
Let's just call it that broadly, that Shamar Stewart could
sign so you can go participate with his rookie teammates
in the rookie minuting camp. And what's interesting about it
is it's really more on the side of Cincinnati. And
this is a team that, again, just to give it context,
has the worst rating for food, one of only two
teams that doesn't provide.
Speaker 7 (29:45):
Three meals per day for the players.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
And there might be some people out there who are
like well, that's not that big of a deal. You're right,
it's something small, but there's also thirty other teams who
do do it, and you know, the players themselves gave
it an f for the food and everything else, and
so it is a small thing. It's a small expenditure.
But as the Bengals do, they tend to be cheap
with some things. They tend to cut some corners, and
this is an example of a guy who first round pick,
(30:11):
and this stuff is pretty standard.
Speaker 7 (30:13):
All they'd have to do is look at.
Speaker 1 (30:14):
Last year's contract and that exact spot in the draft,
and then add a little bit more for inflation for
twenty twenty five and do a similar deal, and the
deal would be done. That's essentially how a lot of
these rookie contracts are done. Now, there's not that much negotiating.
Is offset language and the timing of the signing bonus
(30:35):
or bonuses in this particular case, which in how they
want to structure it. And usually cheap organizations try to
push off the signing bonus as long as they can
because they'd rather hold the money rather than the player
have it, even though he's going to get paid for
it eventually, or they try to structure it a different
way to hold onto those moneies longer. Fifty eight percent
(30:56):
of all the twenty twenty five draft picks have signed
over half, so obviously teams are getting this done. The
best organizations don't allow this business to be a distraction.
Speaker 7 (31:08):
And yet the.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
Bengals are still waiting to sign Smart Stewart. So I
don't fold him at all for not participating. Let's say
he has, you know, a career threatening injury in that
mini camp and the deal's not done.
Speaker 7 (31:22):
I mean that's pretty stupid, right, Like.
Speaker 1 (31:23):
Would anyone go take a job where there's risk involved
if they don't actually have a contract or an agreement
in place, and if they happen to get hurt, or
if they happen to have something happen where they would
get nothing the rest of their life.
Speaker 7 (31:35):
Would anyone in their right mind do that?
Speaker 5 (31:37):
Not no circumstances he's in, Yeah, after you've been drafted, Yeah,
that's not worth the risks.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
So yeah, I don't I don't have much to add
to it.
Speaker 5 (31:46):
I mean, I think it's just a pretty common sense topic, right,
and I think that those common sense points have been
touched on. I mean, there is no reason for him
to work without having a contract as an employe of
the organization. And it doesn't make sense to you know,
(32:06):
not have a contract done by now, I don't get it, like,
doesn't doesn't make sense, but it is what it is, right.
But the bottom line is is that hopefully there are
no hard feelings harbored against the young man for making
sure that he puts business in front of of anything
(32:27):
else and that that's ultimately what he has to do.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
He has to.
Speaker 5 (32:32):
Handle business and a responsible man or in a responsible fashion.
And so you know, there's no funny without the money. There,
there's no honey without the money. There's no none of
that without the money. So bring the bring the contract,
get the contract done, and then it's moving on.
Speaker 4 (32:48):
Is it always the Bengals. It must be exhausting as
a Bengals fan, You're like, all right, well, all right,
well we just hope, let's just hope that uh, you know,
somebody agrees to this deal.
Speaker 6 (32:59):
We can get it done.
Speaker 4 (32:59):
But yeah, it's you know, and still no update on
Trey hendrickson whether or not that long term deal got done.
Speaker 6 (33:05):
After all that talk and dialogue during the off season.
Speaker 4 (33:08):
Fears like no momentum has been gained there either, so
those Bungles, the Cincinnati Bungles. It is Two Pros and

Speaker 3 (34:17):
These might smell a little funk that sounds incredible, but
they're still good.
Speaker 7 (34:22):
Time to find out what's left.
Speaker 3 (34:25):
It's Lee's leftovers.
Speaker 4 (34:27):
All right, lead to lap. You know it's great about
the imaging for Lee's leftovers.
Speaker 6 (34:31):
It's like a fridge opening.
Speaker 9 (34:33):
Oh, thank you for reminding me that, Jonas. Yeah, I
might have to get an extra Mother's Day gift from
my mom because apparently I left the fridge open Saturday
night and it hasn't cooled back down yet, so I
at least have to replenish the fridge or buy an old,
(34:54):
whole new fridge. Good job, Lee, lead the lap. It
was just it was a like wide open. It was
like cracked. It just didn't shut all the way.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
You mean you didn't shut it?
Speaker 9 (35:06):
Yeah, I didn't shut it.
Speaker 5 (35:07):
Okay, all right, it's not that it didn't shut all
the way. It's that lead to lat did not wait
to make sure that he shut the door full.
Speaker 6 (35:15):
Well, somebody overs got a mind of a tone man.
Speaker 9 (35:18):
Nobody overfilled the fridge and there was like, you know,
the tray that was in the way and sounded like
it closed.
Speaker 6 (35:26):
It's kind of around the corner. You know what time
was this at that this took.
Speaker 9 (35:30):
Place eleven thirty pm on a Saturday, according to the
notification on the app.
Speaker 4 (35:37):
Parding to dang you had to rely on something else
to remember, Well.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
It wasn't.
Speaker 9 (35:43):
Yeah, I mean, if you want an exact time?
Speaker 4 (35:46):
What notification on the app? You have a fridge app?
Speaker 9 (35:48):
Don't you love detecting, like doing a little detective work
the next day, looking at time codes and stuff like that. Yeah,
it's it's not as nice as my fridge at my place. Yeah,
I could watch TV on my fridge. I could look
I could get a live look at my fridge. What Yeah, Yeah,
I got a camera inside my fridge and I could
take a look inside see what I'm short on. I
(36:11):
watch music videos on my fridge.
Speaker 1 (36:12):
It's got to like a new fridge or do you
set up a camera inside of it?
Speaker 9 (36:16):
It's got a camera built in so I could log
into my app. That's yeah, connected with brand refrigerators.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
It's a samsum oh okay, And so the reason for
having it inside is to just look at what you need.
So you a grocery store, Is it enough to catch
people taking your stuff?
Speaker 3 (36:36):
No?
Speaker 9 (36:36):
Say you're say you're at the grocery store and you're like,
oh my short on milk?
Speaker 6 (36:40):
Am I short on this?
Speaker 2 (36:41):
Whatnot?
Speaker 7 (36:42):
Yeah? That's what I was thinking.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
Yeah, yeah, I mean I guess the other thing would
be if you were worried about I don't know, some
other dude coming to your house and knocking boots with
your lady, you might catch him drinking some of your
orange juice, your orange Yeah.
Speaker 9 (36:53):
Yeah, yeah, No, I am in the h I am
in the other room oftentimes, and I hear kind of
like somebody's like checking in on the the refrigerator. Yeah,
hearing somebody check in on the reference.
Speaker 1 (37:08):
Maybe maybe you're the other dude. Yeah, yeah, some other
dudes checking in on you. Yeah, could being the orange shoes.
I didn't know that was the real thing. That there's
a camera in the fridge. Yeah, and you and you
watch it a lot.
Speaker 9 (37:20):
No, I hardly ever go on that. I do watch
TV on my fridge, though.
Speaker 2 (37:24):
I don't get that. How do you do that?
Speaker 7 (37:26):
There's a TIS screen on the front.
Speaker 9 (37:28):
Ye yeah, yeah, so it's got you know, screensavers. You
could do anything really you want to on that.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
I guess it makes sense why you have that lounge
chair in your kitchen now.
Speaker 4 (37:38):
Yeah yeah, who knew that was the best seat in
the house.
Speaker 6 (37:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (37:42):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (37:42):
Where's your big screens next to the ice?
Speaker 9 (37:45):
I watched the Thirteenth Warrior on that thing.
Speaker 2 (37:47):
Dang oh boy.
Speaker 1 (37:48):
I mean it does make sense to you. You get
up from the chair, open the door, grab a beer,
sit back down.
Speaker 7 (37:53):
You're right there. It does sound pretty nice.
Speaker 6 (37:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (37:56):
My my living space just keeps on getting smaller, small, smaller.
Got a fridge and a Yeah you gotta have a
TV in that?
Speaker 2 (38:04):
Have a TV in my kitchen?
Speaker 6 (38:06):
Yeah, that's my TV. Really, Yes, you don't have a TV.
Speaker 4 (38:12):
I have a TV and a scheduling monitor, you know,
like the big monitor that that.
Speaker 7 (38:20):
Got kids and all that stuff.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right. And a TV.
Speaker 1 (38:27):
Though, Jonas ask you a question, do you have a
flat screen or do you still have a box TV?
Speaker 4 (38:34):
That's a great question to He's gonna say box.
Speaker 2 (38:37):
He's full of great question. It's a great question because.
Speaker 7 (38:40):
I say box.
Speaker 4 (38:40):
He's full of craft because I don't have a TV
in the kitchen. That and the truck you drive, so
between the two, she ain't lying now, like the upgrade.
Speaker 9 (38:53):
Type if it still works you're gonna use it, right.
Speaker 1 (38:56):
Yeah, let's just say Jonas was single.
Speaker 7 (38:58):
How would that look from like a single?
Speaker 1 (39:00):
Look at Jonny's like, it just would not work out.
Speaker 4 (39:02):
Well, I mean, look, you need your your lawn cut.
We got room back there or your stuff in there.
You know, we'll get it done. We're fine.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
You got one of those old push mowers. It doesn't
even have like the clamp down on the handle where
it assists you. You just push it the whole time.
Speaker 6 (39:17):
Everybody has that, don't they.
Speaker 4 (39:18):
Yeah, I like simple things, simple guy, is what it is?
Speaker 7 (39:25):
Makes sense?
Speaker 9 (39:26):
So judge me, Ray Ray, I'm sorry I was it
was I was really just curious.
Speaker 4 (39:30):
I don't think it's I don't think that's that common
that people have TV's.
Speaker 6 (39:34):
And he still hasn't answered the question, which question?
Speaker 7 (39:39):
Do you have a TV or flas screen?
Speaker 2 (39:41):
Yeah? Do you have an updated TV?
Speaker 6 (39:44):
Isn't the box the updated TV?
Speaker 4 (39:46):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (39:47):
God?
Speaker 6 (39:48):
All right?
Speaker 4 (39:50):
Yeah, well, like we're what do you want me to do?
Speaker 7 (39:53):
Get what else? You got anything else?
Speaker 4 (39:55):
There's a place for a VCR run underneath it? Yeah?
Speaker 9 (39:58):
Yeah, I like the VCR. I put all my vhs
in storage this weekend. I was very upset about it.
Speaker 6 (40:04):
Huh.
Speaker 1 (40:06):
This is why you're a brunch Kylie. That's why you
love brunch. Nothing to do, nothing to do.
Speaker 5 (40:13):
I'm gonna go jump off this bridge if I survive.
Speaker 2 (40:18):
Goodbye.
