Speaker 2 (00:27):
Let's give this parties.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
All right? Eh, yeah, it is Two Pros and a
Cup of Joe here on Fox Sports Radio. LaVar Arrington,
Brady Quinn, Jonas NOx with you our three of this
three hour extravaganza here on a Tuesday morning. And what
a show. It's been just a wild show from the jump.

(00:58):
Here Mike McDaniel, the head coach of the Miami Dolphins.
He's got a really optimistic view on what qualifies as
a good day or a great day. Here was the
Dolphins head coach yesterday.

Speaker 5 (01:19):
You should staying correct. Good morning, false, great morning. Let's
go because another day closer to death.

Speaker 6 (01:34):
M hmm.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
What that's a it's a dark sense of humor right there?
What okay?

Speaker 1 (01:45):
I mean, I don't have much more than that.

Speaker 7 (01:52):
That is not an inspiring message that you'd like to
hear from your head coach. I pray to god he
didn't say that the team meetings. All right, boys, we're
in training camp, well into it, getting ready for preseason,
and we also feel like it's a great morning because
we're one day closer to death.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Oh so Uh.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
There was also some interesting back and forth that took
place over the past couple of days between Mike McDaniel
and Tyreek Hill. So, Tyreek Hill was critical of the
short yardage package that the Dolphins have and we're working
on in training camp and decided to speak out on it,

(02:30):
not realizing that it had already been worked on and
it was actually currently taking place. Let's first listen to
the critique from Tyreek Hill.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
This was over the weekend, taking out on third.

Speaker 8 (02:41):
Uh, what you want to that's my honest opinion. If
it's third and short. He's not a power back. I'll
be telling him that in the locker room. But he
saw he a power back. I loved him on though,
But if I'm being honest, like, that's why you got Jaylor, right,
that's why you got Ali Gordon for those kind of situations.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
So Mike McDaniel, Mike McDaniel heard that and followed up
with this.

Speaker 5 (03:03):
I thought it was a genius reporting by Tyreek, seeing
how we had a short yardage period that very day
that you guys, you guys were in attendance for, and
his suggestion was, I guess, uh congruent with coach Studentsville.
That's exactly how we we wrapped the backs in that
short yard period that very day. But we thought it

(03:25):
was funny that he reported the news that wasn't news
on that practice day in that short yardage period that
you guys were all there too for.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
So he sounded like the old Mike McDaniel, right, what
that sound like like somebody sitting on his chest. I
was just really excited about the fact he has something
to say about.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Yeah, it's like it's somebody's like got their foot on it. Chess.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
Yeah, it just feels really awkward there, Like it just
feels the the Tyreek Hill. The to his critique of him,
Mike McDaniel feels like he's just about fed up with it.
And Mike McDaniel sounds like you know what, probably not
going to be here much longer if things don't work
out well this year, So may as well go out

(04:23):
on my terms.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
And he's going out.

Speaker 4 (04:25):
He's going out with that pothead tone that he brought
with him when he first got there in Miami that
LeVar was such a big fan of. Oh wow, which
is good news. It's good news. The tone is back.
He changed. He'd gotten too cool for school for a while,
and now he's back talking about death being a smart ass,
dismissing Tyreek Hill's critiques of the short yardist package that

(04:49):
was already changed and installed. Good for them.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
I mean, I'm about to say, what do we expect
from this team?

Speaker 7 (04:59):
Well, now I was gonna ask you, is it a
make or break here? Is this a make or break
year for Mike McDaniel the Dolphins? I mean, I feel
like they're in a spot that's kind of difficult. I mean,
he's got a winning record as a head coach. Although
after the first two seasons they make the playoffs. It
feels like last year was a regression. But you also
are playing, you know, without Tua, So.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
I think it's a make or break year for Tua. Well,
I'm not necessarily sure. It's a make or break for McDaniel.
I think it is, and I would. I mean, it's
very possible. I'm with you, but I'm not sure. And
i'll tell you this right now, I'll call my shot. Oh,
next year, the head coach of the Miami Dolphins is

(05:47):
either going to be Bill Belichick or Nick Saban.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Nick Saban's gonna go back to Okay.

Speaker 4 (05:55):
That's right, Okay, that's right. Uh.

Speaker 7 (06:01):
Here's here's why it's not a make or break here
for Tua. They can't move on from him until twenty
twenty seven.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
I mean next year.

Speaker 7 (06:11):
Even if they want to cut him next year, it'd
be almost one hundred million dollar.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Dead cap hit. You can't do that.

Speaker 7 (06:19):
I think you'd be literally sacrificing your entire team if
that was the case.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
A guy's not in your roster anymore.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
The problem you run into with that is this would
be the third coach that you brought in to basically
try to make it work with Tua.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
And I don't think Tua.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
I don't think Tua is good enough where we would say, Okay,
we're going to move on to our third coach while
having Tua no good at not next level.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 7 (06:51):
See, I think he's actually been really good with with
Mike McDaniel. I think what we're failing to realize is
when he's not the starter, it's a different team, it's
a different offense. When he's in there, he's played well,
but the injuries have been an issue. And you can't
say it's the third coach because you know he was
there with Career and Brian Flores and it wasn't like

(07:11):
they brought flowing for Tua. You know, they drafted him.
Flores obviously didn't want them and that ended up being
the end of Flores as a head coach, and you know,
Career kind of won that battle and then move on
to Mike McDaniels. So I would say it'd be more
accurate to say it's the second coach they brought into
help make him the guy, but.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Run a new coach. It would be the third what
it will be the third coach coaching too.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
It didn't bring in Brian Flores for Tua though, that
is what I'm saying, but it would still be the
third coach. I didn't say they brought him man, You
said they brought him in. I said it would be
the third coach. So you said that it would be
they bring in, well, they would be bringing in a
third coach and that coach would be coaching TUA, which
would be three coaches that it coached to in Miami, right, right.

(08:01):
But I think there was other reasons surrounding why Flores was,
you know, let go.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
And how that all didn't work out.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
I think the biggest I think we would all agree that.
I mean, at least for me, the biggest reason why
Mike McDaniels gets brought in is to try to salvage.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
Toa so again, but it's not. So here's the difference.

Speaker 7 (08:20):
It's not salvaging to it because so Chris Greer, the
GM makes the pick and Flora's you know, they feels
like he didn't want him based on how things worked out.
Remember they're jockey between him and Ryan Fitzpatrick. And then
Mike McDaniel gets there and to a play's great, to
a place the way he's capable of playing. Now granted,
Tyreek Hill gets there some other pieces too, but still
like now you see.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
What he's capable of, Like this isn't to be hitting
that trajectory with the prior coach.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Yeah, Brian Flores.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
So, so my idea of it is that you can
ruin a guy if they stay it had Flora state,
had had all things played out, all things given to
what doesn't. I don't think two of recovers playing under
floor as So that's all. So that's where I my
my thought process of bringing him in to salvage the situation.

(09:12):
That's where to me, the reasoning of it comes in
to play from that perspective, and and for what it's worth,
like you said, it did work, they did have success.
I don't think again, I don't. I mean contractually speaking,
I don't. I don't know to con I don't know
to his contract. Like so if you're saying that's what
I'm making enough, yeah, that's that's fine.

Speaker 7 (09:33):
He makes I mean, think about your salary cap is
like two hundred and thirty million, you'd be having one
hundred million of that.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
I would it goes up. I would still would be
invested in players not on your roster. If you cut him, I.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Still trade it, I guess, but I would still say
there's like even with Deshaun Watson, right, you can't get
rid of him, but he had a make or break year.
Maybe a year or so ago, right, But he's still
on the roster because it's it's probably the eggs too high.
So to me, I still think it's a make or

(10:06):
break year for both of them, for both the coach
and Ford a quarterback into it, even if they can
move on from them.

Speaker 7 (10:13):
That's why he's still in the roster because they there's
guarantees involved that even if they got rid of them,
you know, they're and I have to look at the contract,
they might be offsets where the Browns would still owe
money at that point. But there's no point of getting
rid of Watson now. One he's injured, so it's not
like that's even an issue. But again, his dead cap hit.
You know, if they got rid of this year as
one hundred and sixty seven million.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
Yeah, it doesn't matter at this point. They will never
They won't even come close to regaining some way somehow
the value of what they did in that contract.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
No, I mean, that's right, they're not.

Speaker 7 (10:44):
But but there's also you have to understand how the
implications to the cap in the future. Now now you
know that with Watson because again it hasn't worked out.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
He hasn't played well, he's.

Speaker 7 (10:54):
Been injured and you know they're they're kind of you
can tell they're moving on. But again, the problem is
they're gonna have to eat that. So when you look
at what really Andrew Berry has done, if you're looking
at this situation, I mean Jonas just mentioned it.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
They have two first round picks next year.

Speaker 7 (11:09):
Like, think about a team that was able to offer
that contract sign a player to that contract. And yes,
obviously it's hurt, but there's been instances where Kevin Stefanski
and Joe Flack at the end of the season going
to run and they're able to win games down the
stretch to still make it like it's pretty remarkable if
you think about it, like it's almost like the Shanahan
you know, John Lynch drafting Trey Lance and that never

(11:32):
really biting them.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
Like it's very similar in that sense.

Speaker 4 (11:35):
Yeah, they survived in spite of the the Watson move.

Speaker 7 (11:40):
Survived, and so I wouldn't say yeah, I mean they've
survived is a good way.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Of putting it.

Speaker 7 (11:43):
But anyway, they've positioned themselves well to at least build
back through the draft, which they've they've done a good
job of. If you look at some of the players
they've they've drafted and then resigned, obviously Miles Garrett in particular.
But you know that's gonna be the hard part.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
But like getting back to Miami is I don't see
it as like a make or break year for Tua.
I think it might be more make or break year
for Chris Greer and and what happens with him based
on the roster and some of the decisions they make.
Because don't forget too, you know, if you're Steven Ross,
you or the owner, the guy who's ultimately in charge
of making these decisions on some of these contracts. So

(12:18):
even if you are frustrated with the it's a make
or break year for two and he hasn't played well,
you might be stuck in a situation where you just say,
all right, we're gonna we're gonna stick with this, you know,
for at least another year until we get to a
point where it's it's more manageable. Oh, it's not as punitive,
you know, having to release him and eating up that
dead cap. But if you look at some of the

(12:39):
other roster decisions they've they've paid a number of players,
and you can make the case it has or hasn't
worked out, but that's not always on Mike McDaniel. Like again,
I think when two is in there, and you can
look up his win loss record as a starter, he's
he's been successful, They've been able to actually operate the offense,
and then they've been able to kind of split the
ball around.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
It's it's been entirely different feel. I feel like when he's.

Speaker 4 (12:59):
Out there, I love Tua, I like Mike McDaniel. The
combination has worked. To your point, the splits on when
he's in the lineup and not in the lineup, they're
a completely different team, much better team, and the numbers
approve that. I just look at to and it's such
a precarious spot to be in because and I know

(13:20):
that everybody's like this in the NFL. You're one play
away from it all changing and the course of history
changing forever. Man Like, he's one concussion away from that's
that and I don't know, I just can't rally around
or get behind. And that's why I don't think anybody
would trade for him, knowing that, man, he's one hit away.

(13:41):
Based on what we've seen from him when it comes
to the concussions that he suffered every single year of
his NFL career, it seems like it just feels like
you're on the cusp of here we go again, and
he's gonna slide or he's because that's just the way
that he plays. That's my hesitation with Tua, Like I
like to it when he's when he's playing and you're

(14:02):
not even to worry about that stuff. Like he's been
great and it's and it's worked. And Tyreek Hill has
had better numbers with Tua than Patrick Mahomes, which is
crazy to say, but it's the truth. He's just one
play away from next thing. You know, we're back to
them not having him on the field. Two years ago,
he led the league in passing yards.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
Yeah, you know.

Speaker 7 (14:20):
Last year he led the league of completion percentage. It's
just he only started eleven games. He's cooked.

Speaker 4 (14:26):
Damn.

Speaker 7 (14:30):
I just I feel like, again, if anything, what and
then this is what a lot of people on the
outside of play defense don't do, is they don't look
at the defense and they don't look at some of
the struggles that defensively they've had in particular in Miami.
You know, they just you know, they just look at
the quarterback and they don't look at the fact that
they've struggled at times. I mean last year was was
a step in the right direction. But it feels like

(14:53):
when the offense has been really good, like two years
ago when he was healthy was in there, then the
defense takes.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
A step back.

Speaker 7 (15:00):
Weird how it's they just haven't been able to play
that complete team football. And I mean, look, maybe that's maybe,
maybe that's maybe that is on Mike McDaniels. You know,
maybe that's on him. But I look at it and
just say, I don't know. I think the Tua Mike
McDaniel combination has worked. As far as the offseason goes
with Tyreek and everything, I don't know what.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
You make of that. I mean, it's been entertaining, I
know that much. A man taking time bomb. It's just
a matter of time before there's going to be an issue.
The bars, the bars caught up on another quarterback. Here
were you just shooting at Kyler Murray?

Speaker 2 (15:37):
No, what the hell is he wearing?

Speaker 3 (15:41):
Bro?

Speaker 4 (15:42):
He's got moy tie shorts.

Speaker 7 (15:44):
But the Oh, I thought you guys were talking about
the TCU starter, Well you guys check that one.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Out during the break.

Speaker 4 (15:50):
Oh what happened there?

Speaker 7 (15:52):
Noah it's I mean, we should have been talking about
college football polls, but we got Pete Prisco.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Coming up next.

Speaker 4 (15:59):
I mean, as the coaches pool that. I mean, the
AP comes out.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
On the eleventh. Who cares about the AP? The coaches think,
you know what? The you know what? The is all
seriousness though.

Speaker 7 (16:09):
The coaches point, I feel like is a lot of
times derived off of like what the coach is seeing recruiting,
and they're just like, all right, this is this is
how this team recruited.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
So we feel like that's how good they are.

Speaker 4 (16:19):
Oh no, is he a furry? Oh Jesus, all right,
let me see it? All right, all right, that's uh.
Who are these people? Well that's a place for the
horned frogs? Okay, all right, what's he doing? Is that

(16:39):
a party?

Speaker 1 (16:42):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (16:43):
That's man. People like to be addressed up. You don't have
to just do it on Halloween. Okay, all right, well
hey we'd yeah, we live in st.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
Well, I don't really notice that.

Speaker 4 (17:00):
We live in strange times.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
Man, strange times.

Speaker 7 (17:03):
But let me tell you some some to make things unstrange,
right or kind of normalize some stuff out there.

at least scheduled to be Lee's leftovers, so we'll have
that for you again coming up here in about twenty

(18:51):
minutes from now. It's been a hell of a show
for Lee to lap. He's been a little bit all
over the place. He's no longer yelling at Loreno, which
is nice. I feel like that's progress throughout the course
of the show. But we are going to now have
a chat with our Tuesday tradition here. He's the one
and only Pete Prisco. He's our smooth operator, senior NFL

(19:11):
columnist for CBS Sports, CBS Sports HQ analyst and if
you want the smoke on, actually you can get it
at Prisco CBS Pete, good morning, how are we feeling?

Speaker 6 (19:20):
What's up, guys? How are you?

Speaker 2 (19:22):
Hey? Hey Pete, Hey Pete. Can I start off with
a quick question about something I've been noticing?

Speaker 6 (19:28):
Yeah, go ahead, everyone A.

Speaker 7 (19:30):
CBS Sports seems to have a training camp tour graphic
where it shows where they're going.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
Why don't you have one?

Speaker 6 (19:37):
That's a good question. I mean, really, I don't think
that everybody has one.

Speaker 7 (19:43):
But there are well Evan Washburn a d D. I'm
trying to think who else I saw up there that
was traveling around. It seems like they put up a
nice graphic for everyone else, but not one for Pete Prisco.
Do they think you're not gonna be able to make
the next stop? Giving your age? Like, what's the thought process?

Speaker 2 (19:58):
Wow? Wow? Wow bang bear.

Speaker 6 (20:01):
By the way, I'm at one of my stops right now,
I'm getting ready to go to another one, so I
mean I am making the stop. They just maybe they
just don't want to put my ugly mug on a autographic.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
You know, Oh that's not true. They'd love to see
that Sicilian face of yours time.

Speaker 6 (20:14):
By the way, everywhere I go, like when I go
to I've been at Buffalo for a couple of days,
or Rochester and man, I'm the tennis guy in the
United States.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
Yeah you really are. You Very few come close to you,
my friend, on what you do with that. You know,
you were just at Buffalo.

Speaker 6 (20:33):
By the way, some kid came up to me the
other day and he goes, oh my god, he introduced
the guy introduced me to him. And he goes, when
I was a kid, I used to see you on
all those top ten things, and I go, wait, to
make me feel old.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
Kid, Pete, you're just at Buffalo, you said, yeah, is
that could be your pick to win the Super Bowl
this year. I know you've been big on the Josh
Allen train and usually after you go to one of
these camps, you come away always talking pretty highly about teams.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
I don't do it, Pete, you don't do it.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
I mean, it's the hard knocks jinks. It's a real thing.
They're not winning a Super Bowl.

Speaker 6 (21:05):
Have you seen their schedule? It's a joke. They if
they open with the Ravens, which is a tough game
to open with, but it's a home by a Sunday night,
you're supposed to win that. If they win that they're
going to be seven to zero before they played before
they play the Chiefs at home. And by the way,
they have six really tough games and five of them
are at home. I mean the schedule. If they don't

(21:27):
win fourteen games, thirteen games, it would be amazing to me.
And by the way, they might they might be my
super Bowl pick again. And you know when they might
be playing in the Super Bowl again. Brady, the team
I'm going to see when I leave here today? What
do you who that is? Now?

Speaker 2 (21:45):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (21:45):
You Green Bay two years in a rowpeat. Didn't you
pick them last year?

Speaker 7 (21:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (21:50):
Yes, And you know what, Love hadn't got If Love
hadn't gotten hurt and they had got a bad call
and Billy on a fumble that they recovered in a
playoff game, they might have won that game too.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
So, yeah, you were on the right side of that bet.
You were.

Speaker 6 (22:03):
You were. The way line is, they're close, and I
think they're going to be a better team. I think
this team here in Buffalo is it really has done
a good job of loading up the defensive line. Now,
having said that, they got to keep boseing bubble wrap
until December and January. I mean, he's that's when he's
got to be a factor. But they've added a lot
of good pieces to that defensive line. They're going to

(22:23):
be ten, ten, eleven deep when everybody gets back. Now
a couple of them on suspension. Oka job is going
to be six games and Michael Hoyt's going to be
six games. But when they come back, it's and have
a lot of guys, a lot of bodies who after
the quarterbacks.

Speaker 4 (22:37):
Pete speaking to the ANFC East, you called it camp
Softy where the Dolphins training camp was. We've just broken
down Mike McDaniel talking about death, talking about Tyreek Hill
and being a smart ass with Tyreek Hill questioning their
short yardage package. What do you make of the Dolphins

(22:57):
outlook for this year because I'm down on him, and
the under seven and a half wins feels like the
right side of that bet.

Speaker 6 (23:03):
Yeah, I'm down on them too. I mean, look, when
you try and change a culture, not who you are
and who his culture was so far has been what
he established and now he's going to try and get
tougher on those guys. It doesn't work, you know, there's
no way that works. And then you look at the
roster and it's not a great roster. They've had a

(23:23):
lot of problems, particularly the secondary. Secondary is a mess.
I had so many injuries back back there, but they
weren't even star studed before they had the injuries. So
I'm with you. I'd be in that division when I
when I went there, I said they would finish last
in the division. I stand by that, and the Dolphin
fans went nuts, but I stand by it. I think
you look at the Jets. I still have a lot

(23:44):
of talent. Now fields can do anything. They might be decent.
But the Patriots are on the rise. I mean with
Drake May quarterback, they're on there. They're coming and Mike
Brable will get them playing tough, physical football. So I
think Miami. I think you're right. I think Miami is
the last team in that division.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
Oh wow, let's go to Dallas. What what's your take
on the current situation playing out there with with Parsons
and and Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones.

Speaker 6 (24:12):
The media loves it. The media loves it. They run
with it. They get so caught up in these contract
negotiations it's ridiculous. I mean, here's the other day, somebody's
I can't remember who wrote it. They sent it out
that he's threatened to leave the team, and and and
and whatever. He commit himself from the team or whatever
he said. But you're in the contract. They can hold

(24:33):
her for two more years if they want to. You
have no no say so in the matter. Right, Yeah,
you can be upset. You can be upset about not
getting your contract. And rightfully so, the Cowboys had boxed this,
they could have got him for a cheap a price
a year ago. But where's he going. He has no
to say so in the matter. They hold his rights.
And so everybody's like, because he had an agent called
every media outlet in America, Hey, this is what we're doing.

(24:55):
We're gonna do this. He's not gonna pry. He wants
to be traded. It's all negotiation. You know. Everybody shows up,
everybody plays, and the happy guys get a new contract.
You know, it's like you're here in Buffalo, James Cook, I'm,
I'm The other day, he decides he's not going to practice.
Why aren't you practice in business? Okay, that's you're right,
But what are you looking for? His agent? From what

(25:16):
I hear is way off base. You know, if James
Cook is. If they're going to pay him twelve thirteen
million a year and he's scheduled to make five this year,
his agent's doing him a disservice and he's you know,
he's the ASA major fisher, Marris Stewart. And so you
look around in the league and you go, Okay, what are
these guys doing. Should Michael Parsons be the highest paid
defensive player.

Speaker 7 (25:36):
In the league?

Speaker 6 (25:37):
Absolutely? Should the Cowboys have done it last year? Absolutely?
Will it get done? Yes? And when it all gets done,
he'll go over shake Jerry's hands and everybody will be
happy as can be because the bottom line is, they
all get done. When Trey Hendrickson went in last week,
did I tell you he'd eventually go in. He's going
to get into the deal.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
You said that, You're like, he's not driving to Florida.
That's just a stocks.

Speaker 6 (26:01):
They all come in, Brady, they all come in, they're
all happy, they all sign, and then they go play
football and for the month bleeding into it, every media
member that gets caught up in that contract negotiation talk
is just wasting their time.

Speaker 7 (26:16):
Okay, So let me ask you this though, what's holding
up Jerry Jones from paying Michaeh. Parsons because it seems
pretty evident he's the best player, a generational talent.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
Why not get this done?

Speaker 6 (26:27):
What are you talking about? What are most people talking
about for the last three weeks? Michael Parsons and the
Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones and Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones and
Michael Parson, Michael Parsons and Jerry Jones.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
What he loves it?

Speaker 6 (26:39):
Of course he loves this. This is great for his brand,
It's great brihand When eventually, why do you think Michael
Parsons is hovering around the facility. He's not holding out,
he's holding in. He's standing around. They'll get a deal
done before the season starts. Michael Parsons will be the
high state defensive player in the NFL, and Jerry Jones
will have accomplished everything you want to accomplish. Everybody talked
about the Cowboys for five weeks and he still paid them.

Speaker 7 (27:03):
You think that's really what it's about. He just wants
people to talk about him and.

Speaker 6 (27:07):
And you want to. You know, Jerry wants to make
it look like he wins. You know, eventually he loses
because he has to pay him. He had to pay
Dak Prescott. You he paid C. D. Lamb last year.
You know, ultimately, you have to pay the guys if
you're going to keep them, and if they're going to
keep Micah Parsons, they're gonna pay them.

Speaker 7 (27:24):
So on that note, though, is Dallas a contender or
pretender in your mind?

Speaker 6 (27:31):
I don't know if they're a Super Bowl contender, but
I think they can push the Eagles in the division.
I think they've gotten better on the offensive line. I
think they're more physical, you know, getting getting the receiver
to you know, getting pickings to go with Seton lam
help helps open up the passing game. Get Dak Prescott
back healthy is big for them. I like some of
the young backs that they got. You know, Blue has

(27:51):
been good so far and MafA that running back has
also been good so far. So you have guys, and
then you go to defensive side. They got to be
able to stop the That's the first and foremost they
have had problems there. If they can stop the run,
I think that'll be big for him as well. So
I yes, Brady, I think they can push the Eagles
in that division. And if you go back and look
at history, just like Washington can as well. By the

(28:12):
way you go back and look at history, it's hard
to repeat that division. When was the last time they
had a repeat champion in that division. It's been a
long time. So it's going to be a challenge for
Dallas to push the Eagles out of there, but they can.

Speaker 2 (28:23):
Probably was Philly actually like more recently than you think.
But I know what you're saying.

Speaker 6 (28:26):
No, it's been it's been a minute. You go look
it up. I think it's been a while.

Speaker 4 (28:31):
Pete Prisco with us here on Fox Sports Radio. Pete,
you got to pick your starter in Indianapolis. They're both
listed as QB one's Anthony Richardson Daniel Jones. Who you got.

Speaker 6 (28:43):
Well, it sounds like Anthony Richardson's had good, good camp
so far, which you know, that's the one thing with
him is he had to be dedicated to the craft,
and he you know, early on he wasn't, and now
I guess he is. He got to stay on the field,
and so for the better, better organizational standpoint a long run,
you'd hope Anthony Richardson would win the job. If he doesn't,

(29:04):
that's a problem because he's probably out so I think
they're pushing probably for having Richardson win the job. But
if he doesn't win the job, I think that ship
has sailed for him and Daniel Jones is just stopgap guy.
So I would tend to believe that Richardson will be
the starting quarterback.

Speaker 1 (29:20):
Pete, You're right, it's been a while since two thousand
and four. By the way, however, I did a mistake.

Speaker 7 (29:26):
Think that they won it recently. They won in twenty
twenty four and twenty twenty two talking about the Eagles.
Twenty twenty three that Dallas Cowboys won it. That's when
they had that horrific performance.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
And in the wildcard round. Oh yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6 (29:41):
Yeah, Dak Krescott let Dak Prescott let the league a
touchdown passes that year.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
Yeah, yeah, it was.

Speaker 7 (29:47):
It was kind of a forgettable year for Dallas only
because of how it finished.

Speaker 6 (29:51):
But think about that they haven't had a repeat champion
that division since two thousand and four. That's pretty amazing.

Speaker 2 (29:55):
That is incredible.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
This parody sounds like, Pete, let's stay on quarterback, Let's
go to Cleveland. Seems like maybe injuries could be giving
giving opportunities and who who you know is viewed as
as the guy to take the hound for for the Browns.

Speaker 2 (30:14):
What what's your take on it?

Speaker 1 (30:15):
Do you do you see the door opening up for
one of those rookies that just got drafted.

Speaker 6 (30:21):
No, I don't. I think you know from what you
hear and see Jilly Gabriel struggled, Shador Sanders hasn't been
great and working against the backups he's at some moments.
But no, I don't. Those guys aren't ready to play,
and I don't think they will play. I think their
scenario is they play black o. You know, if one

(30:42):
of them balls out in the preseason and plays well,
then maybe he's the number two and they do something
with ticket or whatever. But I don't he can't keep
all four. That's that's a given. He can't keep all four.
So if Sanders doesn't get his actgoing and he's the
fourth guy, they have to make a decision do you
keep him or do you keep you know, pick it

(31:02):
and get let Sanders go. So I think that's the
decision they're going to have to make. Remember, he's a
fifth round pick. Everybody acts like he was a second
round pick. Oh he'll be around. No, he's a fifth
round pick. You could easily get rid of him if
you want to.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
Uh, Pete, I got to ask you.

Speaker 5 (31:16):
I mean, is that true though.

Speaker 6 (31:20):
His name was If his name was John Johnson, he
was playing quarterback and his fifth round pick and he's
having to kind of camp he had. People would say, Okay, well,
you know, maybe he's a practice squatter, or you know,
some team in the CFL has his rights. Now maybe
he goes to CFL. Who knows. But he act like
he was the second or third fourth round pick. He wasn't.
In fact, he was a rookie quarterback who was picked
ahead of them.

Speaker 7 (31:42):
I believe he Toronto Argonauts have his rights. But Pete,
I want to ask you one more thing we were
talking about earlier about Travis Hunter. He's listed as a
wide receiver one a cornerback too.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
I know you're a fawning over him when.

Speaker 7 (31:54):
You were in Jacksonville being complimented on your tan, but
I do want to ask, is it possible one in
your mind for him to be able to play both ways?

Speaker 2 (32:04):
Did you get a sense that he can't do it?

Speaker 6 (32:07):
Well? That depth chart is misleading because he's going to
be cornerback first and wide receiver second. So, but in
the offseason he's been learning the offense because it's been
so hard. You know, it's harder to learn an offense
than as a defense.

Speaker 4 (32:20):
I thought they were working him as a wide receiver first.

Speaker 6 (32:23):
They were. They were because he had to learn the offense.
You got to it's complicated, you know.

Speaker 7 (32:28):
Well, he's listed as a first wide receiver. I believe
in their eleven personnel. I don't know if they put
base personnel, if you'll be the you know, first one
of those top tier receivers.

Speaker 6 (32:38):
This is what I was told that he would play
almost every snap on defense and would be almost close
to every snap on offense. But defense was where he
would play. He'd definitely be the starter. That's what I
was told. He's a natural corner and he's been unbelievable
as a corner in camp. Now as a receiver, his
route running isn't great, but boy, Brady's hands are amazing.

(33:02):
He looks like a veteran. He looks like a veteran
player the way he catches the football. He knows how
to sit down in zones. He's smart. And I asked him,
I said, you know, are you going to play every play?
And he said, he is, and he wants to and
they want him to. Now can you do it? I
mean they told me that he has the endurance the

(33:24):
lungs of a marathon runner. And the day I was there,
it was one hundred and one. And you know, I
used to live in Jacksonville. I'm not used to you know,
sport Loggeril now has a nice breeze and everything, and
Jacksonville just stale air. It was so hot. And he
came over and he sat down with me. I go
hot it up for you. He goes, that would bet
And he was practicing it during time off when teams

(33:46):
are doing special teams. He's over there doing stuff with
the defense. The guy's in machine. The question is does
his body hold up? Because he's not a big guy,
and if you're playing on both sides of the ball,
that's going to be a challenge for him. But I
think he's going to try to do it. Brady, as
amazing as that sounds, going to try to do it.

Speaker 1 (34:01):
If he makes it through and he is a two
way player, true two way player, what happens when he
does his contract?

Speaker 2 (34:11):
If I'm his.

Speaker 6 (34:12):
Agent, there's no question, A great question.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
Yeah, what happens, because to me, that's the biggest thing here.
If he wins both offensive and defensive Rookie of the Year,
he continues to be a two way sensation. What do
you do come contract?

Speaker 7 (34:26):
Oh wait, let's not worry about three years from now.
You could have made that case coming in the league.
You could have rookie deal before they signed his rookie deal.
He should have been trying.

Speaker 2 (34:35):
To make that case only before.

Speaker 6 (34:38):
Before he did that, then you could always say, well,
we weren't going to play him that much or the
other the Yeah.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
There you go.

Speaker 6 (34:44):
We're still smart, LeVar saying, if he plays both ways
the next three years, than what he Yeah, but here's
what you here's you know what the team will do. Well,
your boy's getting beat down and we're going to make
you a corner only right, you know that operates. But
but that's a good question. I mean, because I in
an ideal scenario for him this year, he plays every

(35:06):
snap and he plays at a high level at corner
and on offense, he plays almost all of them. And
I you know, I throw ballpark numbers out there, and
I asked, guys, what do you expect from him? Sixty
catches and you know, eight touchdowns if he does that
and plays corner. I mean, my god, right, that's incredible.

Speaker 4 (35:23):
Yeah, so are you, Pete? And you can get him
on it. I know I when most people go, yeah,
you know, thanks for the complim, and I say.

Speaker 7 (35:31):
I know you try to get that graphic up for you, man.
We want to follow where you're going all these different
training camp visits.

Speaker 6 (35:38):
All right, Brady, you always got to stir the pot.

Speaker 2 (35:41):
You know that.

Speaker 6 (35:41):
And I love what you're talking about him. You're stirring
the pot. That's what you do. I know what you're doing.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
Good, good talking you, Pete.

Speaker 4 (35:50):
Thanks Pete, don't do it again next week.

Speaker 9 (35:53):
All right, guys, there.

Speaker 4 (35:54):
There he is the great pe Prisco your NFL.

Speaker 6 (35:58):
Right.

Speaker 7 (35:58):
I may or may not be on group text where
Pete's taking a lot of flak for everyone else getting
a training camp tour graphic where they show where they're
headed and Pete's nowhere to be found.

Speaker 2 (36:10):
I have no idea why that's the case.

Speaker 7 (36:12):
There's a lot of other moving parts to this group
text conversation. For example, there was one host who was
out there with Pete at training camp and he declined
her request to take a photo with Pete. I don't
know why, but he would not take a photo at
this training camp visit with the host.

Speaker 2 (36:31):
So that became a point of contention to a lot of.

Speaker 1 (36:34):
People who are We'll just put it this way, the
office is buzzing there in South Florida.

Speaker 2 (36:38):
Or Pete work.

Speaker 4 (36:40):
Yeah, I love Pete always, always firing off rounds every week.

gotta have and two wide receivers. Apparently before Levarre you
