So it works. Then yeah, I'm checking the box for us.
Yeah you did there. We gotta keep going. I don't
know one hundred percent stripper music. I mean, it's just
a good time. You know that. I told you that
first one first Poison concert ever saw it was that
Polaris Amphitheater. Uh. Somehow I think it was in sixth grade.
(01:39):
Somehow my uncle got us, got us in. We had
like eight tickets. There were like twelve of us, and
he did this like thing where he was like, you
would take from his left handed ticket to his right
hand as we were passing through the gate, and he
was just like just keep shuffling forward, and so he'd
be like one, two, three, four, And I think there
(01:59):
were some sleight of hand where he like took the
one from his left hand to his right but then
brought it back and somehow counting and the and the ticket,
and this is obviously backed in the days of paper tickets.
The ticket guy was like and after a time and
people kept shuffling. His head's like trying to he's trying
to look at the guys going through, and he's looking
at the tickets and he's like, yeah, all right, yeah yeah,
that's a big group. Yeah yeah, Like that's good. There
(02:23):
you go, And and that was how we got in.
And as soon as I found a spot, they had
this big lawn up kind of looking down the amphitheater
there was there was a mom who was completely topless
and absolute hammers carrying one kid running around chasing the other,
like couldn't have been more than forty yeah, And I
(02:45):
was like, as a sixth grade boy, I was like, well,
this is a wild place to be, so I'm gonna
keep following Poison and uh yeah that was like start
of my love for the music as well as the ambiance.
Speaker 6 (02:56):
Have you seen my mom?
Speaker 4 (02:57):
Yeah, she's right over there with the battleships on her
breast speed right over there.
Speaker 6 (03:01):
That's her.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
By the way, Brett Michaels met him in the kitchen here.
He was in studio for some reason doing one of
the other shows. Super nice guy, really really nice.
Speaker 5 (03:11):
He's a super super good guy. He's a big Pittsburgh fan.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
Yeah oh yeah, all right, So, uh, from that Poison
to something that's the good kind of poison.
Speaker 6 (03:21):
The one and only Albert Brier.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
We bring you Albert Breer every single Thursday here on
this show. He's a senior NFL reporter, a lead content
strategist at the mm QB, and you can get him
on x at Albert Breer AB.
Speaker 6 (03:37):
Good Thursday morning to you, Sarah.
Speaker 7 (03:39):
Good morning guys. I feel like that song is a
song that plays when you're walking in you know what
I mean, like when you're first walking in.
Speaker 8 (03:45):
Uh, it's like rights, what establishment.
Speaker 7 (03:51):
Ab those sorts of establishments.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
I don't know what you're talking about, Aby, you sound
like you you know.
Speaker 7 (03:57):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
There's one.
Speaker 7 (03:58):
There's one. There's one that he might be familiar with
from back in the day. I think it was called
Pure Platinum.
Speaker 5 (04:03):
There was a Yeah, Solid we used to talk about
Hoots back in the day. They used to have a
great brunch buff or lunch buffet for for all those
in the Columbus, which I think it's shut down there,
but uh, yeah, business lunch.
Speaker 7 (04:21):
There were a few of those places too, I think
with a Solid Gold.
Speaker 9 (04:24):
I can't remember.
Speaker 7 (04:25):
There was one that was like buyo b also that
was interesting.
Speaker 5 (04:28):
I thought, well, maybe Pere platinum was I don't know,
but I mean, yeah, this is all being told me secondhand, so.
Speaker 7 (04:35):
Yeah, well it's yeah, it was all word mouth.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Abe, We're talking about this earlier. You know, Aaron Glenn
is not quite sure. I think it's a competitive advantage
to not announce who the starter is going to be.
There was a report from Pro Football Talk that apparently
Darren Moogie wanted to keep Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Glenn was
against it. And it just feels like, you know, we're
seven games into the sea and there's already fingers being
(05:01):
pointed in different directions different media outlets, like what what
do you make of the circus that is the Jets
for yet another season?
Speaker 7 (05:09):
I'm par for the course, you know, and I think
this is like to me and I think what's what's
interesting about it is like that place and we talked about.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
It last year.
Speaker 7 (05:21):
That place just needs, like from a cultural standpoint, like
a hard reset, right, like and like it's difficult to
get to where you want to go when you're going
through that, and ownership is a really important.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
Piece of it.
Speaker 7 (05:35):
And like I I actually like I kind of would
say ownership is more important when things are bad than
when things are good, like when things are good, ownershipd
pretty much stay out of the way. When things are bad,
I think they become pretty important figures. And that to me,
like is one thing that's a little lost in the
(05:56):
Lions and what the Lions were able to accomplish under
Dan Campbell over the last four plus years is like,
this is the Lions four years ago and Aaron Glenn
was there, right, Like, so they started that season zho
and nine. They were oh, ten and one. Then they
show life at the end of the year, right, so
they go three and three, finished the year. There's a
little excitement over that, and then the next year they
(06:18):
start like one in six or one in seven. And
Sheila Ford had to come out and say something, had
to come out and talk to the media at one point,
and like she basically stood behind everybody in the building
and said, like, we trust in what we're doing. It's
going to turn like we believe in all the people
we put in place. She didn't talk about the football
(06:42):
decisions that they were making, just her belief in Dan
Campbell and Bratt Holmes and all the other people there.
Speaker 9 (06:47):
And you know, eventually, you know, we know what became
of that and I.
Speaker 7 (06:51):
Just look at this and they're own seven, but there's
a big, big hole that they had to dig out
of coming into the year. And you know, I just
like the comments of what he made the other day
don't really help, you know. I think the better thing
to do in this case is to is to stand
(07:13):
behind you guys and see if they can dig you
out of the hole. And it doesn't look very good
right now, and I don't think anybody would say that
it does. But you know, I I think that if
you're ever going to get anywhere, you're going to have
to you're gonna have you're gonna have to stick with something,
you know, and you're going to have to show patients
and it's going to take time. And that's where the
(07:35):
Jets are right now. And you'd hate to see them
just completely. And I don't know whether or not Aaron
Glenn and Darren Moosh you're gonna make it or not
as the coach or GM long term if you give
him a ton of rope. But I think after everything
you've been through, you owe it yourself to you owe
to yourself if you're the owner, to give them the
very best shot they that they can get to dig
(07:56):
you to dig your franchise out of it.
Speaker 8 (08:00):
Sensible though, I'm sorry, yeah, but I'm just saying that
that sounds sensible, but that doesn't happen that way, Like
that's in theory, it sounds good, but yeah, Albert.
Speaker 5 (08:10):
Lay money down right now? Is Aaron Glenn and Darren
Moogi both in their positions after the season?
Speaker 7 (08:17):
If you had to bet and that that's the problem
is I don't know, you know what I mean, Like
I I.
Speaker 5 (08:25):
So then you're probably betting against like one of them
getting clipped.
Speaker 7 (08:27):
Basically, I don't think it's impossible. I mean, like I
don't think I think everything's on the table. I don't
think it's I mean, everything's on.
Speaker 9 (08:35):
The table with that franchise.
Speaker 7 (08:36):
And that's sort of the problem, you know what I mean, Like,
and it's been the problem there forever, is that everything
is constantly on the table, you know.
Speaker 5 (08:44):
And so why doesn't Woody realize that, Like is he
not self aware enough to understand that even the problem
having like.
Speaker 7 (08:52):
I mean it's even yeah, I mean it's even like
having the all right, so your team's owned seven, right,
he owns I think it's like forty Crystal Palace soccer
team over in the UK. Right, It's it's even like
having the self awareness to not wear a crystal Palace
hat when your team's zero and seven, you know, walking
(09:13):
into an overs meeting, you know what I mean.
Speaker 10 (09:15):
Like it's it's just stuff like that, like where it's like, huh,
that's interesting, you know what I mean, Like it's and
I don't know why this hasn't been fixed, but it's
been going on for twenty five years this way, this
is the way it's been forever and ever, and you know,
I like I think in the end, like he wound
(09:36):
up and again, like I don't know if Robert Sala
and that group would have made it, but I mean
they fired solid when they were what two and three
with a very manageable schedule.
Speaker 7 (09:44):
Going forward, and the defense was playing really well. And
so you lose the guy who is the architecture your
defense and your head coach. You're taking your defensive coordinator
making him the head coach, so you're stretching your defensive
staff thin like and then the whole thing sort of
blows up.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
You know.
Speaker 7 (10:01):
It's just it's it's like it's what happens when you're
paying way too much attention to what the tabloids are saying,
with being set on social media, the climate, the media
like all of that, and I just there's never ending
cycle of that. You know, Just because some calumnists says
(10:22):
that that at zero to five all your football people
have no clue what they're doing doesn't make it true.
But you know, if you listen to enough of it,
you can become a convinced of it, And I think
that's sort of been the problem there for a long time.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
Good jaes Aby, Do you think that there's any concern
because we were talking about Thursday Night football coming up
later on and it's Chargers Vikings. Is there any concern
about JJ McCarthy at this point as far as what
they've been able to get from him, which isn't much
due to health, but also when they have had him
(10:57):
on the field, it hadn't looked all that great outside
of one quarter against the Bears.
Speaker 7 (11:02):
Yeah, I mean, I think that this sort of illustrates,
you know, and I think they've had ups and downs
with him, like where it really looks like it's coming
and then one thing or the other gets in the way, right,
whether it's injury or anything else. So you know, how
do you build the momentum, how do you sustain the momentum,
because that's what being an NFL quarterback is. The seasons
(11:25):
are long, you know, and there's a lot that you
have to fight through. And I think, you know, I
think JJ's got a lot of potentially came into the
league really young, you know. But like I, you know,
I think you can also judge the Vikings and their actions,
which you know, I can remember when the when the
(11:46):
Chiefs were, We're coming out of Patrick Mahomes rookie year,
and how the sites that they were in getting rid of,
in getting rid of Alex Smith, you know, like it
was the end of January that year, they had just
been in the playoffs. Okay, we're trading Alex Smith. We're
clearing the decks. Patrick Mahomes is our guy. And you know,
(12:06):
the Vikings actions of late have been very different from that, right,
Like where in the off season they offer, you know,
they offer Sam Darnold the deal he winds up leaving.
They offered Daniel Jones fifteen million guaranteed to come back,
he winds up lea leaving. Both those guys leave because
they felt like there was a better opportunity to be
a multi year starter somewhere else. I think both those
(12:28):
guys probably made the right decision based on the way
that there are situations that played out Sam and Seattle
and DJ and Indy, and so then it's like, okay, like, well,
like you know, now we're going to go forward with
JJ and we're gonna trade for Sam Howell and see
how that goes. And it gave them an opportunity to
(12:51):
give them an opportunity to get get JJ every rep
in the off season, and then at the end of
the summer they wind up signing signing Carson Wentz, and
all of that is like, we're not gonna We're not
willing to over We're not willing to throw our season
overboard with a fourteen win team from a year ago,
with all the veteran players we have in the name
(13:11):
of quarterback development, We're not going to just you know,
we're not gonna, We're not gonna sacrifice a year in
these guys' careers to ride out the bumps with the
young quarterback. And now, you know, like, I think they've
got a decision to make, you know, so I don't
think Carson Wentz has played great, that's the other part
(13:31):
of it. So you know, if JJ is not back
in there when he's healthy, then obviously being an indictment
on him. But I think they will. I think we'll
going back to him. And I think again, if he
can get some momentum going, will you gain some momentum.
I think he can be a pretty good quarterback this year, Albert.
Speaker 5 (13:49):
I want to ask you the temperature of I guess
Steven Ross with Mike McDaniel, I feel like the Dolphins
almost feels like every week we're waiting for something to happen,
you know, based on the performance, and I know to
a struggle to which hasn't helped. But is that kind
of the next head coaching potential vacancy we should be monitoring.
Speaker 7 (14:11):
Yes, yes, like I think that in that case, It's
like to me, there are two reasons to fire a
head coach this early in the game, right The one
the players aren't responding to him the same way that
they were before. I think that is at least in
(14:33):
play to a degree right now. And then the second
reason to do it would be because there's somebody on
your staff you want to take a look at and
get given an audition to and I think that's in
play also with Anthony Weave Weaver as their defensive coordinator.
Speaker 9 (14:47):
So I think at some point.
Speaker 7 (14:48):
Over the course the next call it five six weeks,
if things don't turn around, I absolutely think the idea
of them going to to Anthony Weavers in play. And
you know, I think this really kind of goes back
to I say, three years ago, two three years ago,
when when Tyreek and Jalen Ramsey and and all these
(15:08):
guys are on the team. They're they're they're being aggressive
in the way they're building, and you know, they really
had a culture there. It was permissive of the stars,
like the stars could kind of get away with whatever
they wanted, and that's fine when you're winning, you know.
But then at the end of twenty three it wound
up driving Vic Fangio out of there because Vic clash
with the star players, and the star players were freelancing
(15:31):
and kind of doing what they wanted on defense. And
then you come back last year and you're like, Okay,
we're going to try to run it back one more
time with this group, and it crumbled, and so you know,
they tried to emphasize culture, you know, going into this year,
but can you put that genie back in the bottle?
You know? And so far it looks like they hadn't
(15:51):
been able to.
Speaker 9 (15:52):
So I'll be interested to see what it looks like,
you know.
Speaker 7 (15:55):
This week, and and and and going forward, coming off
of what I thought was a really bad loss in Cleveland.
Speaker 8 (16:02):
Aybe, it's not just those teams, not just the Jets,
It's not just the Dolphins. A team that it jumps
out at me. That's it's very interesting. And I know
the quick response will be well because they don't have
Lamar Jackson, but the Ravens only have one win this
season yea. And that to me, it's funny because we
(16:24):
hear so much criticism and so much scrutiny. Go to
Pittsburgh and is it time to move on from Mike Tomlin.
This wasn't a good enough season even though they made
the playoffs, and you hear so many things that are
said about what Mike Tomlin doesn't do. And the only
reason why I'm drawing in comparison is I think that
Mike Tomlin and Harball are very relatable in terms of
(16:49):
what they've been able to do career wise. But we
never hear these types of murmurs or whispers or conversations
take place with the Ravens, but they're one one team.
Like that is that does that become a conversation?
Speaker 7 (17:07):
Well, I think you did. You have it points. There's
been a couple of points when Harbaut's been closer to
the end of his contract, when we've heard some of
those conversations about whether or not it's time for everybody
to move on. I think that's natural.
Speaker 9 (17:21):
And that happens when you know a.
Speaker 7 (17:23):
Coach has been in one place for as long as
John Harbaugh has been there. I think I think John
Harbud's one year short of Tomlin, right, Like I think
Tomlin's in his nineteenth year in Pittsburgh and Harbaugh's in
his eighteenth and in Baltimore's is an incredibly long run
for any head coach.
Speaker 9 (17:39):
I mean, I think you got to give him Lvar
a chance.
Speaker 7 (17:42):
To see if you can dig himself out of this.
So much of it, like was related to injury, and
they've been beat up, whether you're talking about you know,
Lamar obviously, but also you know Ronnie Stanley missing time,
rero quand Spith will come back this week. Ronnie Stanley's
been banged up. Like it's just I mean, they've been
(18:03):
playing with a hand tie behind their back. And if
you look at their schedule, right, and like I just
you know, obviously it's tough to do this, but you.
Speaker 9 (18:13):
Look at their schedule at the Bears this week.
Speaker 7 (18:15):
If they can find a way to beat the Bears
this week, I think it's possible that they're six and
five on Thanksgiving Night against the Bengals, right, and that
becomes a pretty big game at the Bengals continue playing
the way that they did last Thursday. So I think
there's a real opportunity for the Ravens to come out
of this and really get rolling. Their schedule is pretty
soft over the next month, and if like it looks
(18:39):
like again they're starting to get a little healthier, I
think there's a real chance for them to start rolling
and put this conversation behind it. But if they can't
dig out of it, then, you know, I certainly think
there'll be some of that talk as we post the
end of the year.
Speaker 4 (18:51):
Albert, last one for me, the trade deadline right around
the corner. Have you heard any rumblings about a potential
deal or two that could take place?
Speaker 9 (19:01):
Yeah, I would say, I would say, like, there are
a few teams you.
Speaker 7 (19:03):
Can you can circle here. Tennessee is certainly one that
I think a lot of people are gonna be paying
attention to because obviously they've already fired their coach, They're
not going anywhere this year, So how willing are they
to trade off offensive pieces, you know, because obviously it's
going to affect the development of their young quarterback. So
I'm sure they'll get calls on Ridley and and and
(19:25):
and uh and Tony Pollard and guys like that. There's
some guys defensively, although it's not it's not a I'm
not a great roster, obviously, there are some names on
defense to guys like Ard and Key that could have
some value. The Jets are another one. There are a
lot of young players that are coming close to the
end of their rookie deals. There guys like Jermaine Johnson
(19:47):
that I think, you know would have listed some phone
calls as well, you know, and then you know Miami,
the pass rushers that Miami has, those would be two
of the bigger names out there. The Saints I think
are a team you and look at like, I think
they'll probably extend olave, but they'll get calls on a
lave until they extend him. Soupposed to be some of
(20:07):
the names that I would look at. I think there's
always a lot of discussion, and hey, it's gonna be
it's gonna be different this year. I sort of believe
that one off. I'll believe that when I see it.
But got a couple of weeks ago, and I think
as much as anything, it's, you know, over the next
week or two about the bad teams continuing to play bad.
(20:28):
If that happens, then the chances of a big trade
of big trades definitely goes up.
Speaker 5 (20:33):
Albert. Will you be in Columbus for Ohio State penn
Stay next week? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (20:38):
I don't think so. I wish I could make it
out there. I'm actually, you know what, I'm where. I
actually am going to be on that Saturday. So it's
gonna be my son's eleventh birthday, and I believe we're
gonna be going to be taking him and a bunch
of his football teammates to b C Notre Dame. So
we'll be actually watching your alma mater, not mine. Huh.
Speaker 5 (20:59):
Well, hopefully you're not the mush for a Notre Dame
like you have been for Ohio State. I mean my gues.
Speaker 7 (21:03):
Well, see I might bring some bad luck to you guys.
We'll see what happened.
Speaker 5 (21:06):
You might you're trying to sabotage our season, man. I mean,
here's the thing is, I thought you'd want to be
able to be there so you could talk, you know,
talk to LeVar at some point about that matchup. But
I guess not.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
I had plant on it, and then those plans changed.
They could change again.
Speaker 5 (21:29):
Kind of a fair weather fan. If you're asking me,
I'm just saying you should support your team. I mean,
it would be my chance to see you var would
be nice to hang out.
Speaker 3 (21:36):
Yeah, you're going.
Speaker 8 (21:37):
You know, the last time we did that, we we
lost when I showed up and I had the gout foot.
Speaker 5 (21:43):
And that's actually happened every time you've we've got to
put a game together.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
Yeah we've lost, damn, which means it was it.
Speaker 6 (21:51):
Was my fault.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
Maybe I'm the mush it's the big game's fault.
Speaker 5 (21:56):
Actually, I'm trying to think. If I've seen many Penn
State wins.
Speaker 8 (21:59):
That's what I'm saying. Every game was a big game
that you've covered. Probably have not seen doesn't win.
Speaker 5 (22:05):
Well, even like the Iowa Penn State game, member they win,
you put they that was a Clifford got hurt.
Speaker 8 (22:10):
They put in the backup arm stiff arm to shorty
hitting towards a victory that day.
Speaker 5 (22:15):
And then we did have a great friday. We had
a great friday.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
We definitely did.
Speaker 5 (22:21):
We had a good time.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
We did.
Speaker 5 (22:23):
We did.
Speaker 7 (22:26):
Backing behind any candidate for the job.
Speaker 9 (22:28):
Yet we've tried.
Speaker 5 (22:30):
He's been very tight lipped about it. I've been trying
to you know, why I pushed out there, Albert and
this is like, I don't know why this guy doesn't
get more talked about. Is Jeff Mounkin at Army. You know,
people are like, oh, he's he's an option guy. It's like, well, no,
he's running that because they have to run that to
be competitive. Like if he went to Penn State, if
he went to another school, he would run a normal
(22:51):
offense like everyone else. But like they won twelve games
a year ago, you know, yeah, I mean they've literally
be come like a very consistent winning program. When you know,
it's funny like Matt Rule, you know, in one of
his top twenty five wins that year at Temple is
best year. I'm pretty sure Army beat them. Like if
if you go back and look through the history of
(23:13):
some of guy these other guys who've got powerful jobs,
it's like, oh, yeah, they lost Army that year, and
you're like, well, why are we hiring that guy? So
it doesn't make any sense to me, Like if you're
looking for a program builder, someone who obviously knows how
to lead, and especially like young men who are going
to Army or out there West Point, but also just
like scheme, creative, innovative. I mean, he's working with nothing
(23:37):
in regards to nil and those are the results. Like
you can't you can't give him a shot?
Speaker 7 (23:42):
All right, I get to question. I guess the question
would be then and then I agree with everything he
said and like being able to win with you know,
it's like sort of the Brad Stevens thing, right, Like
Brad Stevens worked in the NBA because at Butler he
always had to win with last, right, Like, so that
actually translated right over. The only question I would have
(24:03):
is like his lack of experience swimming in those waters
where you have to raise money and you have to
do the NIL thing. I wonder if that would be
like with Lauren.
Speaker 9 (24:13):
I actually don't know, you know what I mean, Like
I completely.
Speaker 7 (24:16):
That's that one, but like.
Speaker 5 (24:19):
You know, right, But here's the thing I'd always say
about like that to people. It's like, yeah, I know
how to play quarterback in Notre Dame until I got there, right,
we figured that out? Like that that would be my rebuttal.
It's like Jeff Monkin figured out how to make Army successful.
I don't know. I'm betting on him. I think he'll
figure it out. Like, let's not give it to another
coach who's proven that he's either got a ceiling or
he hasn't been been able to do it. Why not
(24:41):
give it to a guy who like has been able
to do it with less, Like I feel like that
guy's more resourceful. That guy's going to be the type
of guy that can actually build up a program if
he's already working with nothing and you give him resources. Yeah,
I think he'll figure.
Speaker 7 (24:53):
It out, right, I still you think it's gonna.
Speaker 5 (24:56):
Be rulled though, Oh no, I'm just I'm just throwing
it out because a lot of people have reported that
I'm not. You know, LeVar obviously has a better insight
into all that.
Speaker 4 (25:05):
Yeah, but no, We've tried, tried everything. Answer any questions.
Speaker 5 (25:10):
Every time there, every time I asked him a question,
he just goes that's all he does. He literally farts
into his microphone and I'm like, all right, thanks man.
Speaker 6 (25:20):
Yeah's appreciate that.

Speaker 6 (27:19):
No listen, because it's not just.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
The you're so excited about that, I.
Speaker 5 (27:25):
Love you are so excited about this? Go ahead, all right?
Speaker 4 (27:28):
According to U Sham Sharania of ESPN. Miami Heat guard
Terry Rosier was arrested early this morning as part of
an FBI sports betting gambling probe. Sources tell ESPN the
Eastern District of New York and FBI director Cash Bettel
will hold a press conference at ten am Eastern time
to announce arrest from the investigation. And then that was
(27:52):
about an hour ago. About five or six minutes ago,
he had followed up with this. According to Sham Sharania,
Portland Trailblazer's head coach Chauncey Phillips has been arrested by
the FBI for alleged illegal gambling. Sources teleesp who Chauncey
No way, yes, hold on?
Speaker 5 (28:13):
Yes, no, yes, don't don't include dude, Okay now that man,
I'm just celebrating.
Speaker 4 (28:29):
No, because here here's here's why I say this. When
this story first came out, there was like base the
background on on the Terry Rogier stuff was during a
twenty twenty three game. And this goes back to March
twenty twenty. This is a long time ago. There was
a better of a sports book in Biloxi, Mississippi, placed
(28:51):
like just under fourteen thousand dollars in bets on the
unders of Terry Rosier's stats on the game that night
between the Hornets and the Pelicans. Now, personally, if you're
watching Hornets Pelicans, you should get every cent of that money. Like,
if you're willing to give your time on a weeknight
to watch that garbage, you should get all of that money.
And then some and so people were doing this investigation
(29:14):
and kind of this deep dive on you know, is there.
Speaker 6 (29:16):
Anything to this?
Speaker 4 (29:17):
Is there any you know, is there any substance to this?
And they investigated it, investigated it, and ESPN was reporting,
this was a few months ago, that no rules were violated.
He was cleared, everything is fine, this is ESPN, this
is who's the NBA. The media writes all that stuff.
Chris Haynes was reporting, No, man, they're still looking into this,
(29:41):
like there's still something to this. Like Pablo tore It
even said like, hey, this is not done. Like everyone's
focused on like the Kawhi Leonard stuff and all that,
Like there is some stuff here going on with the
gambling that they've been quietly investigating. And apparently they just
kept doing deep dives on it and deep dives on
it and looking through this whole thing. Chauncey Billups, Johntay Porter,
(30:03):
you remember him. He was the guy who was you know, like,
oh my eye hurts and I can't partake in this
game anymore. This is after all those bets came in,
Like all of this stuff was happening. ESPN was trying
to tell everybody, Hey, case Chloe, don't don't look here,
don't look there. And next thing you know, it's ter
Rogier getting arrested. It's Chauncey Billups the coach getting arrested,
(30:24):
and all of this on the week that the NBA
opens up their brand new season.
Speaker 6 (30:28):
Welcome in, everybody, Welcome back.
Speaker 5 (30:32):
So let me first start by saying this, Uh, the FBI,
obviously who's doing the investigation and doing all of this,
They're kind of in a tough spot. And only because
like and I'm only saying this as a former player,
because whoever ends up being the first to do this
to get caught, they are gonna hammer them. And they
(30:56):
have to set the precedent yep, Like they have to
scare every NBA player, coach, anyone involved to the point
where they will never contemplate doing this. Otherwise you're ripping
away the integrity of the game. And this is already
a league that has battled that issue in the past.
I mean Tim Donahue, Tim Donahey, right yeah, I mean
(31:21):
that whole scale like that was as bad as it was,
and the NBA, I mean, I would say, look, they're
never going to recover from the era of Jordan and
all the other greats during that time. I think the
peak of the viewership and all that was like more nineties.
But this could really hurt the integrity of the league.
Adam Silver knows that. I think most star players that everyone
(31:42):
realizes that. What surprises me about all this is, you know,
I think Chelsea Philps made ever a hundred million during
his playing career. Terry Razier made over He's made like
one hundred and thirty some million. He's supposed to make
like twenty six this year. I just don't understand. I mean,
maybe they're getting a ton of thrown at them to
do this sort of thing. If if again this is true,
(32:05):
maybe that maybe they're getting paid a time more than that.
I don't know, But when they've made that much money,
it's just it's shocking that they would do anything to
risk it. But I mean again, Chaunzy Phillips is a
great dude. From every interaction I've ever had with him,
I would I'd be surprised. I'd be really surprised this
(32:26):
is all true.
Speaker 4 (32:27):
And then also on the terry like this is where
and look, I'm not saying any any of this is
not great and you should not partake in this, but
there's also some sloppiness to this, to where dude, like
a guy made thirty wagers, this guy in Mississippi made
thirty wagers. All thirty of them hit, and the reason
they hit is because they were all on the under
(32:47):
of Terry Rogier that night, and so basically one hundred percent,
and he exited the game. He was not listed on
the injury report. He finished the game with five points,
four rebounds, and two assists, all under the betting line
on his statistics, every one of those hit on the under.
(33:07):
And then he didn't play the remainder of the season,
like you know, like not on the injury report, like
not listed anywhere, exited the game ten minutes into the
game when all those hit and he qualified and everything
hit on the under, and that he didn't play the
rest of the year. It's just so if that's the case,
why didn't he play the rest of the year.
Speaker 6 (33:27):
Who knew what what else was going on?
Speaker 4 (33:29):
I think he got traded, you know, that offseason, maybe
to Miami and now he's with the Heat. But this
is and now you've got a question, all right, what
did somebody know? And the fact that it's a hit,
like the coaching part of it is I think the
most damning part of this whole thing, because this is
like the Pete Rose stuff and Pete Rose was vilified
for the rest of his life and banned from baseball.
(33:52):
And if you've got a coach, that's also part of this.
Speaker 8 (33:55):
This now all bigger than bigger than just one than
one just one person, Like there's there's like a collective.
I mean, I'm I'm assuming that, but but where you're
going with it, I'm right there with you, Like this
is bigger than just these names that we just heard,
which means that that rabbit hole goes a lot deeper,
(34:16):
which means that there's going to be more names that
pop up. And it's just I'm curious as to how
many name brand names will pop up because we've always
said that they have no problem going after the no name,
little name type dudes that that are are popping hot
for for gambling. But you never really hear big names
(34:36):
like your your head goes up, your ears perk up,
your your interest level goes up when you hear a
name like a Chauncey billups come out like he's not
doing that on his own. So it'd be interesting to
see how that all plays out.
Speaker 3 (34:49):
Yeah, it's.
Speaker 5 (34:52):
Jeez man, and bring up.
Speaker 4 (34:55):
And also the Tim Donahy story. You know, the best
part about that story is say, Dona huge, Donahey, whatever, Donnison.
You know, I'm not as into it like you are.
Well gambling, But the best part of the best part
of that story is the NBA knew about it kept
it quiet because they were on the brink of signing
that big billion dollar media rights deal or whatever it
was with ESPN, and they just kept their mouths shut,
(35:18):
and all of a sudden, you know, they signed on
the dotted line. They're like, oh, by the way, we
got this official. He just can't help himself, guys betting
on playoff games. He's got all this stuff going on.
It's like they know and they knew that this stuff
was happening, and now it's all coming out and it's
probably just the tip of the iceberg, as we were saying.
So so there's that happy Thursday. Good to have the
(35:38):

Time to find out what's left Ton's incredible. Here's the
left over all.
Speaker 6 (36:44):
Right, larray ray, what do we got?
Speaker 12 (36:46):
I got some yummy leftovers for you boys today. You know,
I love supportive fathers. And I saw that Cam Scattaboo's
dad got a new tattoo to commemorate him being on
the Giants. It's a very large piece, got Lady Liberty
in the back and then yeah, it looks really cool.
And he already has a tattoo commemorating his time at
(37:06):
his alma mater. So pretty cool.
Speaker 6 (37:09):
Isn't this dad all tatted up?
Speaker 12 (37:13):
I haven't counted how many tattoos he has.
Speaker 4 (37:15):
I think he's like, it's very noticeable, like he's sleeved
up and he looks.
Speaker 6 (37:18):
Just like him.
Speaker 4 (37:19):
But that's what me and Burs said.
Speaker 12 (37:20):
They look like twins. They don't even look like they're
that much older than each other.
Speaker 6 (37:25):
Yeah, well, nice, nice job, I would I think that's
so sweet.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
I can't wait to see Q and his boys do that.
Hell yeah, nope, don't do it.
Speaker 5 (37:36):
I can't do it. No tattoos. Fact, they say no,
thank you.
Speaker 6 (37:41):
All right, I do have another left over here.
Speaker 12 (37:44):
We did talk about Lamar Jackson earlier in his late
night eating things. Well, the Ravens have a lot of
work to get done right now. After they're lost to
Kansas City. The coaching staff was not happy, and they
made some serious changes.
Speaker 6 (37:55):
To their locker room.
Speaker 12 (37:56):
They removed several distractions is what they called them, things
like the ping pong table, cornhole, bowl boards, basketball hoops.
You heard me, yea. Their video game consoles have all
been removed because of their one to five seasons.
Speaker 4 (38:10):
So I had heard that it wasn't the coaches, that
it was actually Lamar Jackson who had that stuff removed,
that he thought that that stuff.
Speaker 3 (38:18):
Was a distract.
Speaker 4 (38:19):
Oh really, yeah, that's that was one of the fall
up reports.
Speaker 5 (38:23):
By the way, I mean, does any of that matter.
I just like, we're guys out there playing like heated
matches of ping pong, and they're like, oh wait a second,
we have to get back out there and you know,
go play in the third quarter. It's like, come on,
I just I hear about these moves, and I don't
care if it's coaches or players that do it. I'm like,
(38:45):
that's not the issue. Your team's banged up, and honestly, defensively,
you haven't played that well this year even when you weren't. Like,
those are the fixes that need to be made on
the field in the classroom, like playing a ten to
fifteen minute ping pong game. That's the least of my concerns.
Most players outside the stadium or the facility are doing
god knows what, like trust me, leave the stuff in
(39:07):
the facility. That is the safest, best thing that the
most players are doing when they're not in meeting rooms
and not practicing.
Speaker 4 (39:14):
By the way, in a room full of alpha males
and everybody's competitive. How heated do some of those games
get like ping pong and some of those other games get.
I guess they get competitive like heated? I mean, are
they throwing around?
Speaker 8 (39:32):
I don't know. You just have a better knowledge base
on this. I'm not going to be.
Speaker 5 (39:38):
What locker room shenanigans with ping.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
Going to be a locker room.
Speaker 12 (39:42):
How big is the locker room?
Speaker 3 (39:43):
Isn't that where you like shower?
Speaker 5 (39:44):
And don't bring all that you know, pent up frustration?
You say, whatever's not happening outside the mic? You see?
Speaker 4 (39:59):
And by the by the way, Lareta's But are you
working on a twenty four hour bender right now?
Speaker 6 (40:03):
You haven't slept.
Speaker 12 (40:04):
I haven't slept since seven yesterday, before yesterday.
Speaker 4 (40:09):
She went to Disneyland after the show yesterday and was
there till four in the afternoon.
Speaker 6 (40:14):
What a miserable exacce.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
My fireworks are off the chain.
Speaker 12 (40:18):
I don't know what was wrong with me.
Speaker 3 (40:20):
You enjoyed the fireworks? Okay, yeah, something like that, Yeah,
