Speaker 2 (02:05):
There lean off of since you're into the and I'm not,
but you're into the men's gymnastics, why do they wear
onesies when they're on the on the horse, isn't it
called the horse? Why do they wear ones.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
It's called a pommel horse as opposed to what they always.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
I don't know when they're on Lord. They were like, uh, yeah,
it's more of a different singlet. Like the singlet on
on the horse. They have like feet in it and everything,
like it's like a fool onesie. You didn't notice that,
not quite sure on top of it or something. I
don't know.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
I do know this on the topic of the men
winning the bronze, it's the first medal in sixteen years.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
That's a long time.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Yeah, so that's what I'm saying. It was a pretty
significant accomplishment for the men's gymnastics. And by the way,
we heard Manzi talk about earlier Katie Ledecki, who should
be by four and away the favorite to win the
fifteen hundred meter freestyle. She already got a bronze earlier.
She's actually surpassed Michael Phelps in individual medals now that
includes world championships. She has not beat them in the

(03:13):
Olympic Games. He's got more gold individual gold medals, but
she does have the chance to get potentially three more,
depending on how long she wants to swim, she could
eventually catch up to Phelps at some point. That's how
dominant she has been.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Damn, I'm in on the volleyball. Dudes, they be getting up.
I never was like big into looking at other sports
all like that, especially volleyball. But let me tell you something.
I mean I got into the thing. They get up
and they be spaking. I mean their verticals are crazy.

(03:51):
Like I realized how because those nets and they're tall too. Yeah, bro,
those nets for men are really high. They're really high.
Them dudes be explosive as hell going over that net. Man, Like,
it's it's amazing to see them volley because it's so
they hit the ball so violently, it's like to get

(04:12):
a block. Look how high he is, goh leve Bro.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
There's a few things. And by the way, I should mention,
we are boots in the ground here in Paris twenty four.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Who's our sponsor.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
For that's right? For this hour? Uh? Where sponsor? Our sponsored?

Speaker 4 (04:27):
Now?

Speaker 1 (04:28):
I'm brought to you by the Tour day Lance. Yes,
that's a new sight seeing guide around the mountains of France,
but stops at every ped usage location. It's voted on
by the world's best cyclists who lost out to Lance Armstrong,
so thank you for those they're at the Tour to Lance.
I remember there's the Eiffel Rifle and the orev was

(04:49):
spa where you can get a discount code for a
Paris style massage at Dashawn.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
I know how to pick you, don't they.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
You know, if you've got some downtime, that Tour to
Lance sounds like a uh fun, fun experience.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
I was thinking about getting workout in today after the show,
and I was like, that might not be a bad
bad idea.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
For going to tour the lands hell.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Yeah, get on the gas.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Yeah, while you're there, get really shacked up. I mean,
type in code day Sean while you're doing okay off
than have a move away.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
You know, it's interesting, that's funny.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
That might have went over a lot of people's heads. No,
I got it my catch catcher's mitt and it was
really good. You're on fire right now.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
You guys have taken a liking to uh men's volleyball
I'm more of a football guy myself, but you know,
everybody's into different things, so that's cool.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Like I like, by the way, the beach volleyball venue
is ridiculously cool. It is right out in front of
the Eiffel time I saw the way, it's it's incredible.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
What is it?

Speaker 1 (06:02):
It's one of the coolest. It's it's right out in
front of the Eiffel Tower.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
What what is it?

Speaker 3 (06:06):
So each volleyball, each volleyball set up.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
So if you get a lot.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Beach volleyball boy, I used to live in Man while.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
You're not gonna like it anymore. They're making the women
wear these like long tights.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
Now, I'm okay with that.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Okay, okay, Why are you not okay with it?

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Lee?

Speaker 5 (06:22):
No, I'm saying that's not exactly true some some women
yet some groups.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
A lot of actually gone to that.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
I'm okay, I'm okay with long time. I know we
used to go, Lee.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
I know you're kind of sore of this, So hold.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
On a second, who do you think you are. Brady's
over in Paris. He's brought to us by Paris, poor
wasp on, you're going to tell him what they wear
over there? He's boots on the ground.

Speaker 6 (06:43):
I've been watching very closely the beach volleyball set up.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Yeah you.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Are you too? No, Yeah, there were a few who
were wearing the like long sleeve or the but not no.
Today I was watching.

Speaker 5 (06:58):
It was probably a replay, but it was US SA
versus Brazilian they were in the beginnis.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Well, that's I mean, it's also it's also a lot hotter.
I read that they actually were put the long sleeve
on because it was cold. That's but that's sixties early on.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
It's a thing though in volleyball right now, like you
either wear the shorts or you wear leggings, like that's
a thing.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Also, the Brazilian volleyball team already played earlier.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
Right I think, so watch it?

Speaker 5 (07:26):
Yeah, did they advance because I hope so.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
I mean, I think that's equal.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
Saw Campbell out there.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
I thought it was in Paris, right, not in Dubai.

Speaker 6 (07:45):
It was the last time.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Quite quiet, quite explain.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
I don't think you need to say anything. I think
it's self explained. Listen, you know there's a lot going
on out there.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
You know there is sand and maybe you know they
were just it's where they felt at home. You know,
I mean to have like but to have four and
a small proximity like that, I thought was it was
just you know, like because it's not The Eiffel Tower
is right there. You know, it feels like.

Speaker 6 (08:14):
It's right down the line.

Speaker 5 (08:15):
If the great camera angle by the way down the
down the net Eiffel towers.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Right, fig would appreciate we're just going just okay.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
What I figured. Lee would appreciate the artistic shot of
how it looks at night, because the Eiffel Tower lights
up and sparkles and it's pretty cool. It's It's honestly
one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Did I hear that there was a restaurant in the
Eiffel Tower? Is that true or no?

Speaker 1 (08:42):
Or somebody make that up to I think there is one,
but I'm not sure how much access there is during
the Olympics.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
By the way, how bad's the food over there? I
got to feel, and it's bad.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
Food's actually really good?

Speaker 3 (08:53):
Really yeah, I don't know. I was looking up some
French cuisine last night. None of an appetite.

Speaker 6 (09:00):
Do they have pretzels for Jonas?

Speaker 3 (09:03):
Pretzels?

Speaker 1 (09:04):
Like?

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Yeah, but that's not I.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Haven't been going around Paris looking for pretzels.

Speaker 6 (09:09):
I'm just looking out for jonas well. That's bar food,
so you trust me.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
I have not. Ja doesn't eat food.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
So why would you think Lee brought that up?

Speaker 2 (09:17):
Because bar bar food.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
It's bar food. That's what Lee wants. They've got some
pups for you, don't worry.

Speaker 6 (09:23):
I actually speaking cargo, some frog legs, the whole thing.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
You know what I had last night that I'm sure
you've drank before. What Lee? Have you had sharktrus Oh?

Speaker 3 (09:34):
Yeah, I thought you were going to say Oldie No.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
No, This that's more of like a French apartee, because
I would.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Say they at old A what what truce is?

Speaker 5 (09:50):
Actually it's become really hot here in l A. They
add this in a bunch of a bunch of strengths
mixed drinks out here.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
What was the thing I told you? I drank at
the Speak Easy and then I threw up and I
like literally went to sleep like ten minutes later and
had the best sleep in my life. What was absinthe? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Absinthe? Yeah, the wh ly But they both have that
like black licorice to lickoric holy smokes, like I ain't.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
I felt like it was like the first time I
had ever drink in my life.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
And I and they would hear though, whoa like shark
truce is how the Parisians stay skinny? That's why I've
heard that are the cigarettes. I'm not sure. I'm a
lot of smoky going on.

Speaker 6 (10:35):
Hey, right here, give me a lung dart.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
Trust me. People are puffing long darts left it right
over here?

Speaker 3 (10:42):
Right, that's great.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
You can't eat all these cars for practice to not
have a bunch of darts.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
Dang, that's like status over there.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
Huh, it's something. I mean, it looks cool. Still, I
guess there's no Joe Cammel over here, but it looks cool.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
They don't have dude, they still have joke animal hair.
Well let the mascot.

Speaker 6 (11:02):
But I got a couple of camel packs yesterday. Yeah,
it was my dad's birthday yesterday. Got them a Cartoner.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
Cigarette likes birth And I just asked this question really
quickly about about lung darts.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Got his dad and carton cigarettes first birthday.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
They really order.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
To see his next. Now they really stink like cigarettes stink.
And then the post smell is like it's just I
don't know, it's just horrible, Like why I don't understand
why people smoke. So when we.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
Walked through Vegas, I told you, I was like, I
gotta get outside, dude, I can't smell the cigarettes. And
he's like, you don't like it? I was like no,
he goes, ah, I'm used to it. I love it.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Like what's it?

Speaker 7 (11:44):
Like?

Speaker 1 (11:45):
What's it for?

Speaker 2 (11:45):
Like I understand like the usage of weed on like
I get that. What what are cigarettes for? Like? I
even understand cigars?

Speaker 5 (11:54):
Well, I you know, I'm not a smoker, but yeah,
itoke cigarettes?

Speaker 2 (11:59):
Like, is that what it is? It's an anxiety deal.

Speaker 5 (12:01):
And for some people, for some people it is obviously
it's just got the nicotine addictions. So you know, once
you become addicted, then you're that's all it is. I
heard that, and then and then to relieve that addiction.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
I've never smoked a cigarette in my life, but I've
heard never smoked one. I've heard that.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
I think so bad?

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Does it like increase your buzz if you're drinking, like
it take you to another level?

Speaker 6 (12:22):
It does, but only like if you're kind of new
to it.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
So if you're not new to it, you get no
feeling from it. So you're just literally just smoking. You're
just you're just yeah, you're just feeding the addiction.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
As a person who has only smoked like two cigarettes,
they make me horribly nauseous and I get the worst headache,
and it's like an immediate.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
Hangover for me smoking a cigarette.

Speaker 6 (12:43):
Like not even all of it hang over from smoking.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
Oh wow, what do you mean about.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
Well?

Speaker 5 (12:52):
Yeah, yeah, that's true, especially, I mean especially if you
want to if you want to pick it.

Speaker 6 (12:56):
Up and go straight rolling tobacco And hey, Lee, can.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
I take a wild guess? You typically smoke when you drink?
Is that when you do it?

Speaker 2 (13:04):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (13:05):
No, I smoke when like, uh, you know a certain company.
You know, some girl wants to go outside?

Speaker 2 (13:10):
I see, Yeah, you're not a tain smokerret your post
your post catch some fresh air. Yeah he's after he
gets that wark. Yeah he's post operation doctor Lee. Okay,
I get it.

Speaker 6 (13:30):
But but I do like it, Like at the house parties.

Speaker 5 (13:33):
I like hanging out with the smokers outside because I
like the smell and the company.

Speaker 6 (13:37):
Yeah, it is a fun crew. That's where I hang out.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Interesting, Hey, where do you want to Where do you
want to go stand next to? How about the people
that are going to take years off my life. It works,
mod Lee, You're better than that.

Speaker 6 (13:51):
Yeah, I get around the party, I I I socialize everything.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
How much is a pack of cigarettes?

Speaker 1 (13:55):
Nowadays?

Speaker 5 (13:56):
It depends If you're at prestige, it's super expensive, so
I actually drive further to go get ten to eleven
dollars packs. But at at prestige it's like thirteen fourteen bucks.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
Fourteen dollars for a PACKI it used.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
To be like it used to be like a dollar.
When I was growing up, my granddaddy called me over
to go get some camels.

Speaker 3 (14:15):
You get day.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
He gave me like two dollars to go get him
camels and gave me and my brother and my cousin's
a dollar each to go to the store.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
My mom told me that when she was a little
girl that her dad would send her over to the
store to buy cigarettes. Yeah, OK, that's commonplace, just like
an eight year old goes into pack.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
Yeah, we used to go get our grandfather the pop
pop Kaiser rest easy fourteen dollars.

Speaker 5 (14:41):
California and New York. Yeah, New York I think is worse.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
But that's an expensive that's an expensive addiction. Now, Yeah,
tell me about it or habit, whatever you want to
call it. Jeez, all right, that's interesting.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
Hey, go Usa.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
Smoke them up, Dad, Happy birthday?

Speaker 3 (14:57):
All right?

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Okay Dad, you smoked them ammals. Joe Cammel's epy birthday
dead all right, So Vegas, folks.

Speaker 3 (15:08):

Speaker 4 (15:14):
Here?

Speaker 3 (15:15):
We are going to get to the bottom several rumors
out there, but there's a battle on this show who
asks the best questions. We will get those answers next
year on FSR.

Speaker 7 (15:25):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and

Speaker 8 (15:41):
Hey, I'm Doug Gottlieb. The podcast is called All Ball.
We usually talk all basketball all the time, but it's
more about the stories about what made these people love
their sport and all the interesting interactions along the way.
We talked to coaches, we talked to players. We tell
you stories.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
They downloaded to it.

Speaker 8 (16:00):
I think you like it, Listen to All Ball with
Doug Gotlieb on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever
you get your podcasts.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
Right now.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
John Palmrosi is in Fox Sports. Yeah, here we go on.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
The MLB network at John Rosy Day, JP. The hell's
going on? It is Trade deadline Day. Happy Trade deadline
Day to you and yours.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
Good morning, my friends. The answer to your question is
everything is happening all at once, and it's my favorite
day of the year. Of course, a deadline arrives at
six pm Eastern times three pm Pacific, and still have
some significant business to tackle here. Trek Scooble of the Tigers,
a blockbuster trade still could happen there. He is probably

(16:50):
the greatest prize still available. Other arms out there also
the Tigers Jack Clarity. We could also see potentially some
movement as well in the relief but market with Tanner
Scott from Brady's Miami Marlin. So we'll see what ends
up happening there. But I think in general we have
had a very busy trading season already a three team
deal yesterday, so this is this has been one of

(17:12):
my favorite deadlines ever to coverage because We've had a
ton of activity in advance of that light day.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
So if you had to pick it right now, biggest
name to go and where does he go.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
In your move?

Speaker 4 (17:23):
So the link that I'm still gonna call is is
Baltimore and Derek's Google. Now, I don't think that the
chances right now of a trade are above fifty to fifty.
I think they're right in that range somewhere, just because
it would have to be such a massive hall of
prospects for the Oriels to put in that deal. But
they have a clear need for a starting pitcher. They

(17:45):
have a very close race against the New York Yankees
and the American Leaguees. They've got a team that could
win the World Series, they've got a new owner, and
they have more position player prospects now than they have
room for in their Major league rash, all of which
points toward the aggressive And so it's interesting. There have
been a number of moves that have happened already, but
none of them have boxed out this particular possibility. In

(18:09):
my estimation, that's the one blockbuster we should be watching
for Blake Snell. Interestingly, enough is also available, and the
Giants they sign them late in the offseason. The interesting
thing though, is that he's got a thirty million dollar
player option for next year, so he can opt into
that part of his contract. And if he does and

(18:31):
that that ability for him to do that sort of
complicates the teams that would want to acquire him, because
then the team as acquiring him is assuming all the
risk of let's say that a month from now he
gets an injury, Well, then you're stuck with thirty million
dollars without having any sort of upside benefit on that.
So it's a it's a tricky thing to try to
move his contract with the Giants are open minded to

(18:52):
doing so.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
JP, I got to ask you about Jonas Knox's Chicago Cubs.
Their pitchers, Yes and Taon. He made his scheduled to
start on Monday. I'm not sure what to make of that,
but he's rumored to be on the trade block and
he's I think he's got what a ten team no
trade list, any idea where he might end up.

Speaker 4 (19:11):
You know, it's an excellent question because I think there
are a lot of teams that do have interest in
James and Tyan. I would say that the Minnesota Twins
are one possibility. They are looking to add, and add
not in a blockbuster away. Tian's a really good pitcher,
but he's not a superstar on the level of Scooble
or Garrett Crochet with the White Sox, so I think
in a lot of ways, the twins in Tyan would

(19:32):
be a very good fit. The San Diego Padres are
looking for some starting pitching help as well, with du
Darvis still away from the team, and surprisingly, the New
York Mets are now in the buyer category. They were
a team that when the season began they were potentially
going to be sellers of the deadline, but now they're
in a playoff spot all of a sudden with the
way that they have played, so I think adding a

(19:53):
starting pitcher is a possibility for them. And Jamison has
already pitched in New York before when he was a Yankee,
so I think that there's that comfort level for him
where I'm sure he'd be comfortable going to New York
with that ten team not trade so an interesting question
about where he may end up winding up. But I
think there's still a lot of business to be handled,
and I think at the end of the day, the
Dodgers will still find a way to get one more

(20:14):
starting pitcher too. They added Michael Kopek and that three
team deal yesterday, But I look at that Dodger staff
and I still do not see enough starting pitchers. Who
I know what I am going to get from them
in the postseason. I think that is now the big
question for Andrew feven and his front office staff.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
Let's lean into that a little bit more, JP, I
got a two part question for you. One, what team,
just listening to what you're saying, what team stands to
benefit the most in this trade deadline? And what would
they need to acquire? What type of player, What player
in particular would they need or play yours would they

(20:52):
need to bring in for that to be the success?

Speaker 4 (20:57):
Yeah, La, I think when I look at this first
and foremost, Baltimore adding a starting pitcher is is a
number one. And that's one of the reasons why I
mentioned them with Scoogle, simply because they've got such a
great team and they have one very obvious missing piece,
and so I look at Baltimore in that in that range.
I also think with the Yankees in their situation, they

(21:20):
they need maybe one more bat. Whether it's been reports
about Yadi Diaz being a potential fit for the Yankees. Uh,
that's one option. They could also add a starting pitcher too.
I do think it's probably in that American League East
because because LaVar, for me, the Red Sox have gained
a lot of ground in the last month or so
to where they've become a legitimate threat. And and if

(21:41):
if Baltimore or New York does not do something to
kind of boost their status a little bit, they're vulnerable
one of them, probably not both of them, but one
of them could be vulnerable to the Red Sox catching
up with them. They're Boston is playing really good baseball
right now, so I think there's a little bit of
urgency there. And then the final team I'd mentioned is
just it's just the Dodgers because they've already spent and

(22:02):
I think it's LeVar that the numbers are just so astronomical.
The Osani and the Yamamoto expenditures the last offseason were
just something that we've never seen before. And yet and
yet they've got a lot of injuries in their pitching staff,
and so they have to find a way, in my estimation,
to really shore up that part of their clubs and

(22:24):
if you get the postseason and again have a shortage
of reliable rotation arms to take you deep into games,
that's simply not acceptable if you're the Dodgers, when you've
already spent this amount of money. The stat that I've
mentioned before, they've played fifteen straight postseason games in which
their starting pitcher has not gotten it out in the
sixth inning. So they've been five and dive or much

(22:46):
less than that every game for basically three postseasons, and
they haven't won to woke series in any of those postseasons,
which to me is very illustrative of why this deadline
day is so important to the Dodgers.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
John Paul Morosi joining us here on Fox Sports Radio
as far as MLB Insider here on two Pros and
a Cup of Joe JP. So there's probably a lot
of people listening that maybe haven't been paying attention to
the White Sox because they're a diaper fire. They've lost
fifteen straight. It's just been an awful year for them.
Garrett Crochet has been a star for them. The expectation

(23:18):
was that's somebody you could look to probably deal and
then he comes out and starts announcing all these demands
he wants. I don't want to be in the bullpen.
If you're going to trade me, I need to be
a starter. I need a contract extension as well too,
so much so that their GM spoke pretty candidly last
night about the city, like what happened there, Like when
did they get clued into the fact that all of

(23:40):
a sudden he had all these demands, which really put
them in a bind when they're trying to deal him,
and maybe teams don't want to give him that extension
he's looking for exactly.

Speaker 4 (23:49):
First of all, I need to look up exactly what
a diaper fire signified, Jonah that one.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
Like, it's a great question.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
I mean.

Speaker 4 (24:00):
That was that's the new turb I will I will
now if I can try to work that into my
comfess today. I think it's a good reference. But that
as to day as we caught the play that for
a moment, Garrett Crochet, Uh, it's interesting and Chris gets
the word that he used. Was surprised yesterday that that
Garrett Crochet and I think we realized what happened here.

(24:21):
Someone in his camp representative or someone adjacent to his
representation basically shared the information that, Hey, if I'm going
to fitch in the postseason, I want a contract extension
to do it, which is a very interesting negotiating tactics
in season. In a lot of ways, I get it.
I get why as a player who had never started

(24:43):
a game in the major leagues before this season, he's
now already well above where his innings limit was in
the past. I flully understand that the anxiety of a
player in handling that, But I would also say that
that handling that internally and expressing that to the club
or making everybody aware of what the plan would be,

(25:04):
might have been the better strategy. I mean, certainly has
a reporter I love knowing that now, But in a
lot of ways, maybe that's best handled in the house
because it certainly limits the marketplace. Because if you're if
you're a contending team and you want to bring him in,
you're saying to yourself, well, the only reason, the only
way that I could trade for him now is if
I give him an extension on top of that to

(25:24):
then allow him to pitch in the postseason. It's a
little bit unprecedented. Doesn't happen like this, as you guys
all know, and pro sports is very often that you
would have a negotiation like this of this kind, but
to me also says that there's not full faith and
confidence in the way that things are being run internally,
and or that he really that he really maybe wants

(25:46):
to stay in Chicago at this moment in time and
not be traded, So that the motive seemed a little
odd for me, And the fact that Chris gets said
he would surprise does not bode well for the chances
of Crochet getting traded now. It does make you wonder
or is there going to be a better negotiation when
it comes to a long term conversation with the White
Sox this offseason.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
JP. I know the the Houston Astros are obviously tied
for the lead NLE West, but they've been hamstrung by
injuries to the starting pitchers. They got Kikuchi, is that
how you pronounced his last name? Look of adding more
rotational help.

Speaker 4 (26:24):
I think they are probably in this moment, Brady pretty
set with what they've got, just because he gave up
a ton to get Kikuchi. In a lot of ways,
that was that was the trade that people around the
industry could not believe that that the Blue Jays got
all three of Jake Bloss, Joey litt Berfido, and Will
Wagner in that deal. There was a belief in the

(26:45):
part of some people that individually that low Gerfiedo and
Bloss were both untouchable, let alone putting them in the
same deal you've got. And again it all goes back,
and all of you know from your your your amazing
careers in pro sports.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
And all goes back ownership.

Speaker 4 (26:58):
And the Astros have an owner who wants to win
and wants to keep this ALCS streak going and continue
the success the Astros have enjoyed. And there are some
teams that are much more free wheeling when it comes
to giving up prospects. The Phillies are one of them.
They just did that for Carlos Stevens, the former Angels closer,
and the Astros are another one where they will give

(27:19):
up the players they believe to bring in someone who,
honestly and in the case of Kakuchi, hasn't even been
that great over the last month. So I think that
was the one big splash the Astros wanted to make,
and they just have to hope that Kakuchi and a
new ballpark adjusts well and pitches effectively there. It's a
hard place to pitch. Smaller ballpark. Toronto's that way too

(27:40):
a little bit, but Houston Man and the ball flyes,
and I just think that might be a tough environment
for him to come into right away mid season, and
the Astros gave up a ton to do it. So
I say, clear advantage to the selling Toronto Blue Jays
on the Kakuchi trade.

Speaker 2 (27:55):
Okay, j P. There's a lot of shaking and moving
going on ear. You've explained to a lot of different
scenarios and how they should play out. I'm just curious
what GM has the most pressure in your estimation on
them to deliver during this deadline time.

Speaker 4 (28:15):
That's the next good question is I'll give you a
selling GM and a buying GM. I think a selling
GM that's going to make a splash year. As Scott
Harris at Detroit, he could have probably traded Flarity to
the Astros last night. I wonder if he could have
gotten a similar deal for Flarity that the Blue Jays
ultimately got for Kakuchi. That's an interesting development, and I
think too, when you have Schoogle, you have the number

(28:37):
one prize that everybody wants, or at least the right
teams want. That adds a lot of pressure on where
you're going and what you could do for the future
of the organization. So I think in that respect that
Scott Harris has the most pressure on him.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
Now.

Speaker 4 (28:51):
On the opposite side of things, in terms of a
buying GM, I'm gonna say David Sterns of the Mets.
And the reason why I say David Searns is they
were in a city situation when the season began where
people thought that, you know, Pete A. Lonso might be available.
It was kind of a transitional year. Now all of
a sudden, they're in it, and he has We just
talked about ownership. Steve Cohen one of the most aggressive

(29:12):
owners in the sport, who always wants to win and
do the do the right thing for his fans, and
so there, all of a sudden, I think David's overall
predisposition when the season began might have been, Hey, let's
go it for the future and be really incremental about things. Now,
all of a sudden, you're in New York City and
you've got a playoff spot right now, and you've got
an owner who says, let's win then what do you do?
So now it's time for David to deliver. They just

(29:35):
lost code is seinga potential for the season, so adding
a starting pitcher is now a paramount important. So you
you wonder maybe maybe I can answer my own question
and the Tigers will trade Jack Flair to the Mets,
And if that happens, then I'll then we'll play back
this this recording when we when we next have a conversation.
But I think that's that's what I'm seeing right now,

(29:55):
is that there's pressure on the selling GM and Harris
and the buying GM and Stern.
