Speaker 3 (01:52):
Petros, Good morning.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Good morning, Hello, Hello, Hi everybody doing Yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Well, tell us what was your takeaway?
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Well, I mean I think that there's a couple things
I thought. I met Tim Skipper, I don't know, last
year when he took over for Jeff Tedford who got
sick and couldn't coach at Fresno State, and he was
an interim there, and I thought he did a really
good job. And I thought he did a really good
job communicating. I thought he did a really good job
(02:26):
trying to keep the culture of the program going. And
you can see they're having a good year under matt Ends.
And I thought he would do a good job. But
he took over UCLA. Now I don't know what that
would translate into, but you know, just a good job
keeping the team together. Now, you know, his father's not
Rick Neuheisel sitting in a studio screaming and yelling live
(02:48):
on TV. So Jerry got a lot of the attention,
and rightfully. So it's a great story. And Jerry's a
good guy and we've known him for a long time.
And you know his wife was excited after the game.
But oh, you guys didn't see that video? Yeah I did,
so nice. I've seen a lot of videos peple yes. Yes.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
So I'm just not going to be very loud about
this topic, that's all.
Speaker 5 (03:14):
No.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
I I mean, I think there's a couple elements here.
I think Oregon kind of beat Penn State twice. I
think no matter who you are, whether you're going all
the way east or all the way west and you
go into some weird stadium that you haven't played in
a while with a team that it's not intimidating, but
(03:36):
it's wonky for a college football team, and it takes
a while to get their bearings. But I think, you know,
you got to give Nico and u sel Like credit.
They've been taking a lot of incoming. I mean, we
had a guy on just last week who's with the
team twenty four to seven and he thought they were
going to go winless. So hell of a turnaround. I
(03:58):
know Penn State people are upset, and everybody's calling for
not everybody, but everybody's calling for James Franklin's job. But
you know, it's a different time and day and age too,
where you got to pay the players and you've got
to pay a lot of different things. It's not as
easy to buy your coach out if he's got some
giant buy out let alone come up with a bunch
(04:19):
of money to hire a new one and a new staff.
So it's unfortunate and stayed a very talented team and
they're out as far you know the right now. Things
can change in Texas too, you know, And it just
goes to show you know how much talk and the
and you didn't have to look too hard to be like, yeah,
Florida's going to beat Texas. I mean, I think a
(04:40):
lot of people felt that, and uh, and it's it's
a little bit. It's it's interesting, it's great about college football,
but it's also an indictment on the way that we
hype teams up during the off season. But congratulations, look
at you, Cla. I don't know if I don't know
how much they'll do. I mean, I don't think they're
going on to the College Playoff, but certainly and it's
(05:03):
not going to fill the Rose Bowl. They could go
undefeated and they're still not going to fill the Rose Bowl.
But it was a great day for Bruins because it's
been such a terrible year for them.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
Yeah, we could be a positive spot for them.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
I'm sorry about that, LeVar, no problem. I picked to win.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
Yes, yes, yeah, you mentioned Texas.
Speaker 6 (05:25):
Obviously Clemson like three teams that you know, we we
had really high you know, expectations for aspirations, however you
want word it. Uh, Clemson's out of it. You know,
Penn State's still maybe in the mix, maybe Texas too.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
But what do you, what's your conclusion.
Speaker 6 (05:40):
Like when you look at the landscape at college football,
has it changed that much in the past three, four
or five years with the portal of everything else and
create more parody?
Speaker 2 (05:49):
I guess. Uh, I mean look at the SEC, you know,
I mean when was the last championship the SEC one?
Has it been three years now? And we spent decades
with just SEC teams win in the championship and people
in the South telling us all that we are all
weenies and none of us know how to play. Right
(06:10):
now in the South we reconnoiter football teams in a
different way. Uh they did, you know, I mean we
I mean they literally it just means more. That's the SEC,
uh whatever you call it the mantra. So I you
(06:33):
know it has changed a lot. You can, I mean
you can be Indiana that nobody looked. I mean I
remember being young and Northwestern made a run and beat,
uh beat everybody, and then lost to USC Darnel Audrey,
Steve Schner, Pat Fitzgerald was the Mike backer. And you
(06:54):
know there was a miracle, you know, when Gary Barnett
did it in Northwestern was a miracle to people. I mean,
we're still talking about it today and they went all
the way to the Rose Bowl. And now maybe it
wouldn't be as much of a shock because look at
Indiana's turnaround, look at the turnaround in different different schools
(07:18):
in different circumstances. Hire somebody and everything changes, or they
build an on campus stadium like Tulane or Houston or UCF.
We've seen a lot of that over the years and
as the game has evolved. But yeah, I do think
that there is more parody, and I do think that
(07:39):
it's probably a good thing. You have to build your
team faster, and sometimes people take a little time to
build their team and you can't really tell in year one,
but then in year two they pop up and you're like, wow,
you know, I don't think that's going to happen at UNC.
But I agree with you. I think the modern and
I think look now that we've cut down the portal
(08:02):
and we're getting a little bit more uniformity, that things
will settle in. But it's been wild for a few
years and it's still a great product.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
Petros the Great Tim Kats who will be on the
blow torch AM five seventy LA Sports after we go
off the air.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Coming up at six scams Kates and Sacks in the am.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
He did he dig to confirmed that you.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
Wax and Kates in the am.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
You will be at Dodger Stadium later on later on today,
So will we be celebrating a sweep?
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Are they actually for water?
Speaker 1 (08:38):
Because the Panic Brothers feel like man up and vanish
like a fart in the wind nowhere.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
Yeah, the Dodgers, it's been exciting, you know when I
mean they put that Blake Trinan in the other night
and everybody almost lost their minds.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
But it's crazy. I mean, working in LA sports and
being and you know, do it afternoon drive in LA
for twenty years and all that, it's interesting. You know,
when Philly lost that game two, just to look at
the Philadelphia media and literally just guys screaming at the
(09:12):
top of their lungs at each other, just absolutely unhinged,
livid and crazy. And it's not like, you know, we're
the best sports town in the world in LA. We
kind of suck. But God, at least we don't act
like that. You know, I get it. They're frustrated. The
Penn State lost twice and Philly lost twice, and then
(09:39):
the Eagles lost too, so I got to understand that
there's a lot of frustration. But at the same time,
I was like, wow, these people are just crazy. They
switched to the baby blue uniforms. So now that Philly
has switched, they went to their manager, Rob Thompson, not
Thomas from Matchbox twenty, but Thompson. They to him and
(10:00):
told him that they want to wear the Blues, the
Baby Blues, so maybe that means something. It'll be Yoshiobu
Yamamoto pitching tonight. He had a great year, not a
cy young year, but close really good, good pitcher with
a lot of swagger who pitched brilliantly last year in
the in the postseason. So he's going to pitch tonight
(10:23):
against Aaron Nola. Dodger Stadium will be all riled up
and out for blood, so very possible that they could
get a sweep and then take on the Brewers and
we'll see what happens there. But it's an exciting time
in town when the Dodgers are in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
Also very difficult for scheduling. Let me, I'm gonna I'm
gonna go back to football. I'm and get out of baseball.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
But that's fair. I'm not you know, I am considered
one of the foremost baseball experts on the West. Yeah,
that's what they call.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
I'm super dope with it. I just it's just not
my cup of tea. That's all not about you. It's
more about me being able to ask you, you know,
a better question that than if I were to try
to ask you about baseball.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
But okay, I was.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
I was curious like this this past weekend in college football,
you are seeing, you know, you are seeing things like
what happened to Penn State take play or what happened
for uh U c l A take place. You're you're
seeing upsets take place. I mean in our day and
in our time, upsets took place as well. I can
(11:29):
remember app State, you know, Appellation taking on Michigan and
beating Michigan And.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
That was the very first game in the history of
the Big Ten network.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
How about that? I didn't know that was it? Really?
But but can you.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
Like Carissa Thompson on the sideline?
Speaker 3 (11:45):
Oh wow, she's she's uh climbed pretty high since since then.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
She used to work at HR. I remember that.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Wow. So what do you how does how does Today's
because I seem to feel like this new college football,
this era that has now been ushered in, I believe,
is just as exciting as the nineties. I mean, I
thought the nineties were a pretty exciting time in college football.
(12:18):
How do you see like where you know college football
is currently in terms of competitiveness.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
Well, I think we you know, it's hard to say
because the game has changed so much. So, you know,
stuff that we used to do to each other or
have done to us is totally different.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
And you get to play one hundred g's if you
do what we used to do.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
Yeah, and we wouldn't have one hundred g's to give anybody.
I mean, you know, we didn't get paid. So, I mean,
I think the coaches have a much tougher job building
the team together, you know, and kind of molding and
welding the team together, because we used to do it
in a much different way. We used to do it
(13:00):
kind of in a trial by fire and by being
in the same recruiting class, being in the same dorm,
you know, being in the same classes, being together. Now
they do it by going on river rafts and bowling
and team building exercises because the team's not really together
(13:21):
like they used to be. But there's a thousand ways
to do it. You know, there's all kinds of different
ways to build your team. There's all kinds of different
ways to put it together. And I mean, I look
at I have Cincinnati this week, and I'm looking at
Cincinnati and.
Speaker 4 (13:38):
I'm like, oh, you're a football team, by the.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
Way, maybe the most underrated in the country, you know
right now. I mean. They have a beautiful offensive line
that they've kept together. They have two tight ends from
Ohio State. They have a cornerback that they got from Indiana.
They have you know, two transfer running backs that are
physical as hell and angry. They have one of those.
(14:01):
They poached one of those j Norvel receivers from Colorado State,
which everybody does because he's so good at finding him. Uh,
you know. They have another guy from some lynn Field
or some weird place. I mean, so they've found big
time players from big time programs, big time players from
smaller programs. And they've you know, people like the center
(14:23):
that they're that as their captain and maybe best player
on offense. You know, they've they've cultivated and it's been
there forever and recruits people and loves the place. You know,
all of those things, you know, come together and you
have talent, you have some uh some camaraderie, and you
(14:43):
have good coaching to keep them together in Scott Saderfield
and you have something good going. And they weren't very
happy with him last year, were they, Brady?
Speaker 1 (14:54):
No?
Speaker 2 (14:55):
I mean, you know, this is taking this guy a
year and now he's got Cincinnati playing at a very level.
So you know, you just it's so individual. You really
have to look at a team, talk to the coaches,
see how they're made up, See who's been there for
a while, see who they brought in. And then there's
also the two elements. Do you bring in a guy
(15:18):
from an Ohio State who maybe hasn't played as much
and isn't happy that was a five star recruit. What's
his attitude going to be like in a smaller place.
You know, some people bring in guys like that. Some
people say, well, who's the best player at New Mexico State,
Let's get him. You know, who's the best leader at Elon,
Let's get him, you know, And and both have worked.
Speaker 3 (15:41):
About the running back from San Jose.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Yeah, yeah, he's mean as hell.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
Yeah, Well that's about him a little Scataboo.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Uh, that was a San Jose He came from Sacramento, Scataboo.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
Yeah, but I'm talking about the kid that place for
San Jose State right now, Steve Sodo. Oh, Steve Soda. Well,
I haven't watched as much of them. I know they
have another good receiver and last year they led the
receiver that led the country. I love I love San
Jose State, but I haven't seen them this year. Yeah, okay, o.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
Wait, so you're going to nip Are you on to
Cincinnati this weekend?
Speaker 2 (16:17):
Yes? If you know there's hell yeah, I'm not very
happy about it.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
I'm happy.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
Have you been there to call a game though, Petrick,
I've never been to the good dude.
Speaker 4 (16:25):
I'm telling you that place rocks. Oh I'm looking.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Forward to being there. It's one of the old college
football as you know, I just don't travel very well.
Speaker 6 (16:35):
I know, but that this is gonna be a great game.
And I'm just telling you the environment there is awesome.
That fan base is. It's one of the most underrated
because everyone's like, oh, they've got a pro team there.
I'm telling you those kids that community shows out like
they just love ball, doesn't matter if it's pro college,
high school, whatever, So you're in for a great time.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
I went to the Standing game last year, and I'm
looking forward to being there and seeing the team this year.
Speaker 6 (17:00):
Fucking that's good. You'll get there. I'm gonna switch gears
a little bit. This is gonna be more off the
wall question and I'll give you the backstory on the
other side of this. But if you're at a funeral
and there happens to be just a fluorescent thong poking
out showing, do you look? I mean, is it like
a car accident you can't help? But now look at that?
(17:21):
How do you handle that situation?
Speaker 3 (17:24):
No, it's the question though, I mean it was California
never did a question.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
Yeah, yeah, I mean I'm looking at that. I mean,
I'm not going to be like, yeah, am I outside?
Do I have my sunglasses? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (17:42):
Yeah, you got liquor store loaks, you're outside?
Speaker 4 (17:49):
That was Did you.
Speaker 7 (17:50):
Hear the A that I gave you?
Speaker 2 (17:54):
Costco? Come on, it's too late now, it seems like it.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
No, so Petros, But yeah, no, I guess, uh, the
back and it's not like you know, i'd go full
missile lock on whoever.
Speaker 6 (18:13):
Yeah, the backstory to all, this is we're giving to
us a hard time, how we never get together, and
he's basically using the death of his mom her funeral
as the last as the last time he invited us
to all.
Speaker 4 (18:28):
Do something together, the loane time that he's and then then.
Speaker 6 (18:31):
This came up because one of the family members never
had a fluorescent full on yeah, well that's die, you know,
a whale tail it was, which was really hard to
not look at in the moment, especially as she was
like popping up and down on the casket, which made
it again like it was like one instance where it
like breached. It was like, no, it was out there.
(18:53):
It is again, Okay, it was hard not to notice it.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
It was.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
It was what we're gonna send to you guys on
my costco host that's not I.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
Would love them, oh gosh, but.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
Yeah, that's unfortunate. But you guys do get together, you
know on other occasions, you know, super Bowl, super Bowl,
that's it, you know.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
Like ocaon occasion. I mean you could throw in when
we when you know, the Graduate Hotel loved us and
gave us an opportunity to do a remote.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Yeah. They moved on to Joel Clatt and gus Ja.
Speaker 3 (19:31):
Yeah, on the bigger, better things, I mean outside of
Q obviously, then you know it is what it is. Petros,
maybe you could av a k forst Petros, I know,
I don't know you got I could use a truck,
Joanas definitely could use a pickup.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
Yeah, Petros, my Tacoma's approaching three hundred ninety thousand miles.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
Let me know. I'll send you over to you California
Tooa dealer.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
Just let you make it easy.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
To look for that dealership. How would I find that dealership? Petros?
Speaker 2 (20:04):
Which dealership? The wolf? The cat? Oh, Felix, the cat,
that's the Sheleck chef Felix Chevrolet Cadillac.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
Yeah. Yeah, on the corner of Figueroa and Jefferson.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
Yeah, you see that big black beautiful cat. You know
that he's ready to go, black beautiful cat. He's got
a finger pointing at yeah, beckoning you to come in
for some great deals. Cat. He's got his hand on
his hip because he's comfortable with his sexuality. Yeah, he's
bent at the knees because he's ready to pounce on
you with a great deal.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
Cat.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
He's talking about that black cat. Yeah, big black beautiful cat.
Felix Chevrolet and Cadillact Felix cat. The sign is a
local landmark in the city.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
Of Los Angeles, like the donut, can't tear it down? Yeah, exactly,
Randy's donut.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
Yeah, Petros, I know, obviously you're going to be in Cincinnati.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
I don't know if you're going.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
Skyliner gold Star, but you're probably gonna want to pair
that with Lebron's Hennessy.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
Your thoughts and that is a taste.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
Oh, Lebron's knew Hennessy.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
A lot of people thought he was going to retire.
Speaker 3 (21:13):
I mean, the big announcement, the big unveil yesterday.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
Could they get Jim Gray to sit there with him?
Who is that?
Speaker 6 (21:21):
Just by the way, I'm not sure what was worst Petros,
this one or the fact that he's like making a playoff.
Speaker 4 (21:28):
The first one was.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
An absolutely disaster.
Speaker 6 (21:31):
Yeah, like one of the worst, one of the worst
public press whatever you want to call it ever in
the history.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
M into more of a villain. And before that, you know,
he was the most liked player in the NBA by far,
And when he did that, it kind of started the
story of the anti Lebron fan. And it is interesting
because It doesn't seem like he has a great you know,
between putting his son on a team and all the
(21:58):
other things that we've seen and dealt with with Lebron
for years, it doesn't seem like he reads the room
very well, you know, telling everybody you invented Taco Tuesday,
telling everybody you invented speaking in a barber shop, and
you know, now mocking Well, I don't know if he's
(22:20):
mocking what he did before. I don't know. I just
I don't think he knows, or maybe he does know
how polarizing he's become, especially with Laker fans. But the
riding's on the wall. With the Lakers, they're done with him.
You know, he'll be there, but they've they've you know,
they've moved on. They've signed Luca to a long term deal.
(22:44):
At media Day, everybody was talking about playing with Luca.
Nobody was really talking about playing with Lebron. And you know,
there's always something he does to bring attention to himself.
Story comes out about Luca, So Lebron releases a workout video.
You know, it's just it's it's gotten pretty tiresome but
(23:05):
also relatively predictable, but good for him, you know he
needs the money.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
I caught it.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
I caught it, Petro, Petros, we always appreciate it. When
do you still when do you travel out the Cincinnati
Friday morning?
Speaker 3 (23:22):
If there's air traffic controllers, I don't know. I'm very
upset about it. On that to you, man, Thank you. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
And it's a new Eastern time kick. So you'll be
going head to head.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
With a little noon here's what we call it.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
Oh nice. So there he is, the great Petros Papadakis.
Speaker 1 (23:39):
You can get him on X at the Old p
He is the coast of the Petro Some Money show,
which you can hear on at the blowtorch Am five
seventy l a Sports Fox college football analyst and our
good buddy here Petros.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
Appreciate it. Man, there he is. Petro's got up out
of here. Man, he's eating the lizard now, you know
he's got he's.
Speaker 6 (23:58):
Got stuff to do or maybe what's back to sleep?
By the way, if he does want to go back
to sleep, mattress firm, you got him covered. If you're
losing sleep every time someone moves in bed. Maybe Petro
says that lizard matches from sleep experts, they'll match you
with a temper looks adapt. It's temper material absorbs motion
for undisturbed rest. Visit match from today and upgrade to
(24:18):
a temper peedic. It makes slee sleep easy.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
It is two pros and a cup of Joe. Here
on Fox Sports Radio and up next, there was a
move that was made in the NFL that's got this
show written all over it. We'll tell you why right
here ont FSR.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
Blue che.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
I got your attention good. It isn't just a tablet.

LeVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here coming
up and we'll call it about fifteen minutes from now,
we're going to close up shop here on this Wednesday
morning with another edition of The Leftovers. We do have
ourselves a trade in the NFL that went down yesterday,
(27:25):
Harbor to Harba Ravens Chargers. I don't know if you're
familiar with this guy, a dafe Aoway.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
I know that name.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
Well, ye, he's on his way to lahe up. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
The Ravens traded him in a twenty twenty seven seventh
round pick to the Chargers for safety Alohi Gilman and
a fifth rounder A little high at Highlman.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
Sorry, is a walk going on on the Google doc
So he's low end high. Yes, all that the same
you're blaming that on me, is that you're doing just
stuff moves around.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
I'm trying to, you know, trying to get stuff done here,
just like moving around at rapid pace.
Speaker 4 (28:07):
But what has it ever been pronounced? Alhi?
Speaker 1 (28:12):
I was trying to you go to Hawaii. Yeah, but
I'm not a regular, you know periodically.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
I'm still blown away by the fact that they put
low and high in one name. They covered it all
off in one day. Is what it is you did that.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
He's in Baltimore and we've got ourselves a notre dame
in Penn State trade as well.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
Let's go are.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
Song.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
I don't know it.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
No one ever sings the lyrics.
Speaker 3 (28:59):
There are no lyrics. Wait what there are no lyrics
to that song. There's no lyrics to your fight song,
our fight song. But that's not our fight song. That's
our when we score a touchdown song? Oh why you're
probably meaningful scoring?
Speaker 6 (29:19):
No, I just okay, hold on, help me understand this.
Don't you want to play your fight song when you score? Like,
isn't that when you strike it up? I strike the band?
Speaker 3 (29:27):
You know, I don't know, it's that's always been our
tradition to play that song right there.
Speaker 6 (29:33):
Due I guess that's like Rocky Top. That's not Tennessee's
fight song. Then they play it all the time.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
Yeah, which is dope, by the way, that Rocky Top
playing up in there. Man, people know, I don't.
Speaker 4 (29:47):
Have much on this.
Speaker 6 (29:47):
I just I'm not sure how much Alwai Gilman is
going to help the Ravens defensive issues.
Speaker 4 (29:53):
He's a really good player.
Speaker 6 (29:55):
Cool to see him and Cayl Hamilton playing together, but
I look at him, just go with the even they
got more problems than that. And then on top of
that for the Chargers, like always gonna help them out
with the pass rush.
Speaker 4 (30:07):
But again, like.
Speaker 6 (30:09):
You know, I don't know if either of these moves
like really push them over the edge in the AFC.
You know, definitely help, but how much of a difference
does it make right now? Like they got bigger issues
in my opinion, Oh, line issues and the Chargers. You
look at the Ravens, it's all over. It's the quarterback,
you know, Lamar when he's not there, it's a different offense,
different team. You know, Derrick Henry slowed down. It's just
(30:32):
there's a number of things going on there.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
I just where do you find this stuff? Man? Where
do you find it?
Speaker 2 (30:46):
Now?
Speaker 1 (30:46):
It's not the first time there's been a harbort of
harbort trade either. Do you guys know the last time
this happened?
Speaker 3 (30:53):
All right? A player to go.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
From Baltimore and San Francisco back in the day. Do
you remember the the player that h then ended up
playing for both harbors back in the day, all right
now and Kwan Bolden all right back in the day
he was, Yeah, spent all that time with Baltimore, then
(31:17):
ended up in San fran So now we've got a
little horrort of Harbor here to try and improve the
look the Charger.
Speaker 3 (31:23):
They will improve the Chargers, that's for certain. No sex
quality they've been disappointed with. Yeah, I get it, but
the Chargers need help. Khalil max out, yes, obvious, and.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
The Ravens feel like they need secondary help because their
secondary has been awful. I think they're thirty first in
the league. It might be dead last in the league
with passing yards allowed per game, but thirty first in
the league, like they're That's the part that I think
everybody is so shocked by the.
Speaker 3 (31:54):
Ravens defense so bad. I don't get it.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
I know that there's injuries and they're significant, but it's
like there's a massive drop off from where.
Speaker 3 (32:05):
They've been and that's the staple of who they are, right,
That's a staple of hardball teams is you have a
defense and you run the ball and you work from there.
Everything else comes from that play defense, run the ball.
(32:26):
And you know that that hasn't I mean obviously they've
been able to run the ball untimely, you know, injury
with with Lamar Jackson. I mean you can't again, you
can't look at it any way other than next guy up,
because the same thing that you know Baltimore's dealing with,
(32:46):
you know other teams are dealing. We talked about Cincinnati
earlier and them having to deal with not having their
their starting quarterback as well. So it's been a disappointing
year altogether. For the ball more Ravens. I wonder can
they can they turn it around and can they be
(33:09):
a dominant team again, because just like I said about
Kansas City, I do not believe that Kansas City intimidates
and has that aura over you know, other teams anymore.
I don't think it exists. They have to really win games,
and these teams are nowadays not only coming in there
with the idea that they're not the bully, but they're
(33:31):
coming in there feeling like they're not the best either.
So they have to deal with that. And I think
this Baltimore Ravens team in a lot of ways is
having to deal with the same type of issues that
mystique of what that Ravens defense has been for so
many years, a staple of the team. It's not that
that identity is not there, and and so how does
(33:55):
a Baltimore Ravens team move without that established identity. That's
going to be the biggest question to me that has
to be answered. And in regards to how will they
finish out moving forward through this season.
Speaker 1 (34:09):
I got good news after this week because Baltimore has
the Rams this week. You know, Sean McVay is going
to have a red ass about what happened last week
with the Rams on a short week, so they're going
to have extra time to prepare. The Ravens defense is bad.
So they've got the Rams this week, they're probably going
to get handled. After that, three straight bye weeks, their
(34:30):
actual bye week, then the Bears and then the Dolphins.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
They're not out of this thing. That's not bad.
Speaker 4 (34:37):
Yeah, definitely not out with the Bears, you know, and Dolphins.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
There's you look down their schedule, you go, the Browns
are sitting there, the Vikings, who knows, the Jets. The
Jets are bad, the Bears, Baltimore is not out of this.
Speaker 3 (34:51):
There's still a chance again. I'll you know, why not
referencing the Bears shot us I did that was part
of the Yeah, three straight by weeks, they're just not
showing that. I mean, when they get Lamar Jackson back,
we'll see what they are. But they haven't shown to
be anything but what they are. A team that hasn't
(35:14):
been able to finish games this year. They got to
change that. They got to be able to finish games.
I mean, you can be competitive and be good and
people can know you're competitive and good, but if you're
not finishing the games out and getting victories, then you're
just a team that's close to winning that can't win.
That's still a loss. That's you're still a losing team,
(35:34):
whether you're a really good losing team, a really talented
good losing team. And again, I we had this conversation before.
We always have conversations about Mike Tomlin. Mike Tomlin, is
winning season good enough? Has Mike Tomlin hit his his ceilings? Mike?
Has it run its course with Mike Tomlin? Mike Tomlin?
(35:55):
Why do we never do that with hardball? Because for
what it's worth, it's kind of the same thing we
put it on Lamar Jackson. Oh, he hasn't gotten him
further yet, he doesn't show up in the playoffs. But
we never had this conversation about Harball.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
We had this conversation earlier this week year.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
We did. Yes, said I'm saying we did. That's what
I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (36:18):
I referenced that it's interesting to me that that isn't
an overwhelming storyline. Has this team hit their ceiling? Do
you think Ryan Clark's going to start having that come.
Speaker 6 (36:28):
Maybe for second second, dependent here's the reason why, Because
Harrball won a Super Bowl. Lamar has it yet? Harbor
has proven he can do it ago it was, But
it also buys you that, you know, lack of criticism.
Speaker 4 (36:47):
It buys you that second chance.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
Mike Tomas super Bowl and went to one and he's
still always constantly on the hot seat for has this
team hit its ceiling. I'm just saying, I just I
find it to be an interesting conversation because I don't
I don't see this this Ravens team as a dominant
team this year. They're going to struggle. They're going to
(37:11):
continue to struggle.
Speaker 6 (37:12):
I believe I'm with you, but I'll quickly ask you, guys,
Pittsburgh has such a long history of success.
Speaker 4 (37:20):
Baltimore is a team that you know, moved.
Speaker 3 (37:23):
And they're not too considered successful though I get it,
but I'm saying there's still not the same, like, hey,
this is abnormal.
Speaker 6 (37:32):
For us to go this long without a Super Bowl, right,
Like they're a young franchise in that sense at least,
and from the Ravens standpoint, not going back to the
Baltimore Colts and all that. So so I'm not trying to,
you know, conflate the two all I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (37:46):
I wouldn't have put the two together, but I would
still argue I would push back that the city of Baltimore,
they they definitely had those expectations and they've established that.
Speaker 6 (37:59):
But I guess I guess what I'm trying to say, though,
is like for Pittsburgh, I think there's pressure on both.
Speaker 4 (38:07):
I think there's no doubt about it.
Speaker 6 (38:08):
We talked about that with Tom in last year, like
everyone keeps wondering, like, is this going to be a
thing to move on? You know, so, but for some reason,
I think horrball has been able to kind of not
And by the way, you know, if you think it's
been a long time for Horrorball, it's been a really
long time for tom On then yeah.
Speaker 4 (38:23):
So I think there's a little bit of difference between
those two. But I don't know.
Speaker 6 (38:26):
I'm with you. I think both both probably full pressure.
I mean, hell, that's why the you know Steelers got
Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, well, thank god for Draft Kings sportsbook.

Speaker 3 (39:43):
Sorry, Lorey May, what do we got?
Speaker 7 (39:45):
Oh my goodness, I'm a fashion girly. I know you
know this, but this foot fashion aw that happened this weekend.
Cowboys rookie running back Jaden Blue had to change his
shoes mid game because his custom we have Aton cleats.
Speaker 3 (40:00):
We're giving him blisters.
Speaker 7 (40:01):
Now, you guys have been, you know, on the field,
what what would you do? Would you pick fashion over football?
Speaker 3 (40:08):
Or where are you at with this? If my toes
hurt and I don't have good traction, I gotta switch up.
If it's if it's a blister on the heel, I'm
second skin skin.
Speaker 6 (40:19):
The story is not being reported accurately. One this happened
during practice. He changed them on Thursday, October third on
and during practice because they're giving him blisters. That's when
the story came out.
Speaker 3 (40:32):
I'm gonna put story. Second skin on my heels. What
is that a band aid or is that like a spran?
Second skin?
Speaker 6 (40:38):
It's like it's like it help it helps from stuff
from like slipping off of it so you can wrap
it better.
Speaker 3 (40:45):
It's like skin. What color? Is it?
Speaker 2 (40:48):
Clear?
Speaker 3 (40:49):
Good? Oh? Wow, that's all what you did there make
it sure?
Speaker 5 (40:56):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (40:56):
Wow, you know you guys have had a sin like
you know, I've never heard of this week. It's it's interesting,
I've never heard of it. What do you mean good,
it's clear? What do you mean, Oh? I just what color?
Would you have wanted it to be? Jonas?
Speaker 6 (41:11):
I meanly, I mean, in Jonas's defense, LeVar, if it's clear, technically,
it'll look like it's the color of the skin that
is going on.
Speaker 3 (41:20):
Yeah, yeah, I don't think that. I don't think it
really matters because it's going to be covered with tape anyway,
or a band aid. You go, now, then you could
ask what color is the band aid?
Speaker 2 (41:31):
We remember the medicine cabinet.
Speaker 3 (41:32):
The medicine cabinet's got different shades. Our medicine cabinet is
against you, not against me. Yeah, there's nothing there. Clearly
we're in California, because when I opened that cabinet up,
I saw all kinds of band aids.
