Speaker 1 (00:00):
Why from the Guico out Kicked Studios, Hope you guys
are having a fantastic Friday. It's fifteen minutes because you
could say fifteen percent or more on car insurance. Visit
Geico dot com for a free rate quote as well.
Dural Last batteries designed to stand up to even the
most extreme weather conditions. They're built with patented technology to

(00:22):
reduce damage due to vibration and deliver the most power
during startup. They're proven tough and sold only at Auto Zone.
Get in the Zone, Auto Zone. Pretty pretty, pretty good
Thursday if you're a sports fan. Last night, although I
think the Cubs and NAT's game just ended about five

(00:42):
minutes ago, I fell asleep full disclosure, with that game
still on last night, flipping back and forth all evening
between what was a really good matchup of teams on
Thursday Night football, A rarity to be sure. The Carolina
Panthers beaten by the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles now making
a case that they may be the best team in

(01:03):
the NFL, pending the outcome of what happens with the
Chiefs over the next couple of weeks. Meanwhile, Cam Newton
couldn't get any help at all in the running game
and through three interceptions, two of which were not really
his fault. But a really entertaining Thursday night football game
and a incredibly entertaining Game five between the Chicago Cubs

(01:26):
and the Washington Nationals. And I have said it before.
I think I talked about it last year. The Washington
D C. Area is the saddest city in America over
the last twenty or twenty five years when it comes
to failure of teams. There is no area in the
country that has had less success than the Washington D C.

(01:48):
Area when it comes to sports franchises. They haven't had
a team in the finals in any of the major
sports since I believe the early nineties when the Washington
Redskins went to the Super Bowl. Was that the early
nineties or late eighties, I can't remember. It all runs together.
That's the last time the Washington area won anything. The

(02:10):
Wizard Slash Bullets and nothing. Uh, the Nationals went all
the way back. Okay, so it's ninety two, the last
time that they want anything in the DC area. We're
talking about twenty five years now, and this was just
more awfulness. If you are Washington, D C. Area sports
fan Bryce Harper and the Nationals cannot get out of

(02:32):
the first round of the playoffs. Bryce Harper, Now it's
just one year left on his contract. Is he going
to re up with the Nationals or is he going
to move on somewhere like the New York Yankees and
sign an unbelievably blockbuster contract. We don't know, but I
do love that this quote happened, which kind of sums

(02:52):
up how awful d C is. The Nationals had just
lost a crushing one run game at home Game five.
Bryce Harper in the locker room, He's answering questions and
this happens. Heny thoughts on how it comes that? Ah,
not really looking for looking at courses at all. Any

(03:15):
thoughts on how the Cubs Dodger series might go. What
an unbelievable question to get asked right after you get eliminated. Unbelievable. Yeah,
it's I don't know. I let's hear that again. Let's
hear that question again. Um, immediately after that loss. Heny

(03:39):
thoughts on how it comes that test? I don't I
don't think it's trolling, and I don't know who the
reporter was, but that reporter seems like he's just totally
out of touch. I mean, that would be such an
unbelievable troll move. Let's go around the whole. I mean,
do you think that he was trying to get a

(04:00):
rise out of Bryce Harbor with that question, Jason Martin,
I think it's likely that the reporter might have legitimately
asked that question, but he was a troll, like he
was an unintentional troll. I don't necessarily think he went
in there to try and needle Bryce Harper, But why
would that be a question? You would think Bryce Harper
or anybody wearing a National's uniform at that moment would
have any interest whatsoever in answering what. I'll tell you

(04:23):
what happened there is you can always tell who's like
the print reporter that has been assigned a story, because
the question will have absolutely nothing to do with anything
anybody could care about. So my guess is, if you
go back and look at who was asking that question,
it was a print reporter for a newspaper, probably in

(04:43):
the Chicago area, and his assignment is Okay, everybody else
is writing about what happened in the game itself, your
article is gonna be Let's look ahead to what's going
to happen in the Dodger series, And so that guy
is just trying to get quotes that he can put
into his article about what the future is gonna look

(05:04):
like in this Dodgers and Cubs world, see I mean sorry,
and an LCS matchup. And so I've I've noticed that
for years, as somebody who is set in a lot
of press conferences, there will be a game that just
ended and there are twenty five or thirty questions that
a reasonable fan could want to know the answer to,
And then they'll be inevitably some guy who's writing an

(05:27):
article for the newspaper that nobody will read, and he's
asking questions for that particular article, not because anybody cares
about the answer to the question, but because he's been
assigned this particular story. So that would be my guess
about what happened there. Question for you guys, which was
more entertaining last night? Which did you find yourself watching

(05:48):
more of Game five in the Division series between the
Cubs and the Gnats or the Thursday night football game
between the Eagles and the Panthers. Because I was going
back and forth, and honestly, I got hung up on
baseball a lot more than I anticipated I would because
that game was so so wild. Now again, I fell

(06:12):
asleep with the baseball games, still not decided. I had
it on. I woke up this morning and I still
had it on. Um but because it went so late,
and obviously I get up so early, like a lot
of you out there listening right now to talk to
the show, uh, to listen to the show, And I couldn't.
I couldn't stay up late enough. But what about you, guys,
Jason Martin, which one did you enjoy more? I enjoyed

(06:32):
the football game more. I think I did watch a
lot of the baseball game. I was really really into
this Eagles Panthers game. I really enjoyed watching the great
Thursday night game. Really was a lot of physicality. Both
quarterbacks made plays, even though I think Cam threw the
ball too much. I came away so impressed with Carson Wentz.
I had no idea was that good until watching him

(06:53):
last night, and just how composed he was. And that's
a really really good football team over there with the Eagles.
They've won four games on the road already this season,
four of their you know, four their six games so
far that they played this year have been on the road,
and they won them all. So that's really really impressive
what they did. Now, the baseball game had my attention,
maybe even more so than usual, because anytime the Washington

(07:15):
Nationals lose, as an Atlanta Braves fan, you're very very
happy individual. Nothing gives me more joy in baseball than
watching the Nationals lose. So that was obviously something that
that had my attention. Why kind of I don't know,
the Nationals just in the NL East, they've always been
annoying and then every year they're the favorites to win
again and it's just awesome to watch them lose. They

(07:37):
you it used to be the Philadelphia Phillies and when
they were really rolling that you just could not stand
them as another team in that division. But the Nationals
just have always rubbed me the wrong way for some reason,
not necessarily. I like Bryce Harper quite frankly, and I
like Strassburg, and I like some of their players, but
it's just, you know, you don't cheer for Georgia right
as a Tennessee fan, So it's just kind of as

(07:59):
a Braves and I've always despised the Washington Nationals, but
we had definitely last night, two things going on at
the same time on a Thursday that kept my attention
in sports, and that's the first time that's happened in
a while. I was really interested and excited by what
was happening last night to two great games in October,
and October is the best sports month of all. I
was rooting for the Gnats just because I went to

(08:21):
college in Washington, d C. I have seen the Washington
d C area sports fan over the last twenty five years.
I again, I started off the show saying this, I
think that Washington, d C. In the last quarter century
is the saddest sports town in America when it comes
to failure across every major sport, the Washington Capitals notoriously

(08:43):
can't get it done, even though everybody expects that they
should be a contender every year when the NHL playoffs start.
The same thing is true of the Nats. The Red Skins,
which is the most popular team in the DC area,
hasn't been very good, hasn't hardly won any playoff games
since that too super Bowl win. And then obviously the
Washington Wizards never really able to ever take a step

(09:08):
where you felt like they were a contender to win
a championship. I know that they're not bad right now,
but they are not a team that you think, oh,
they have a chance to win a championship. So across
the board for cities with major sports teams three or more,
two or more, I don't think there's a sadder city
in America than Washington, d C. Eight seven seven three

(09:29):
six nine. What about you guys out in l A.
Which game were you more intrigued to watch? Yeah? I
was having a similar night to Jason, where I was
flipping back and forth. I found myself locked into the
football game, Uh, loving what Carson Wentz was doing. But then,
like U clay, the baseball game kind of sucked me
in when it was going back and forth. And it

(09:51):
was probably like two in the morning your guys time,
So you might not have seen this, but in the
eighth inning, I think the Gnats caught a really nasty break.
Did you see how review got overturned? Yeah? I I
saw the highlight, but I was I'd already fallen asleep
before that happened, so that is ridiculous. Yeah, this game
was almost five hours long, back and forth. Definitely, um,

(10:15):
you know it. It it's like this. I fell asleep too,
but when I woke up, the game was barely in
the sixth inning, so it was kind of cool. It
was two It was literally two games in one. So
the eighth inning, the Gnats are rallying, they're coming back.
They get it down within one and they have runners
on the corner with two outs and um Jose Lobaton

(10:38):
was called safe after a pickoff attempt, but the Cubs
asked for a review. It didn't appear to show conclusive evidence,
but the call was still overturned in favor of the Cubs,
and that and the closer, Wade Davis, closed the door
on the Nationals with that nine eight finals. So the
Gnats caught a really bad break there in the eighth inning.

(11:00):
Brutal um, justin Were you watching these games or were
you just playing with your cat? Ha ha uh Now
I was. I was going back and forth between the two. Uh.
And I ended up spending more time watching the baseball
game because I picked the Panthers to cover the spread
and I saw that that wasn't gonna be happening. So
I got a little bit better and just switched over

(11:21):
to the base I will ask this I'm curious. Let's
open up the phone lines eight seven, seven, three six nine.
Carson Wentz a lot of attention last year for Dak Prescott,
justifiably because his NFC East team looked like they were
gonna have a good chance. I'm sorry Cowboy fans to
be Super Bowl contenders prior to that loss to the

(11:43):
Green Bay Packers. But is Carson Wentz actually better than Dak? Obviously,
Jared Goff has been very good in year two as well,
so it's possible that all three of those guys are
gonna be pretty outstanding. Carson Wentz, Dak Prescott, and Jerry Golf.
Jared Goff was a revelation this year now with Sean
McVeigh as his coach with the Rams. But of those three,

(12:06):
I think it's fair to say that Deck and Wins
have been better. And certainly Dak Prescott has gotten what
at least seven or eight times, if not ten times,
if not twenty times as much attention as Carson Wentz
A big part of that as he plays for the
Cowboys and his team was a lot better last year. Well,
now Dak is two and three. We found out. I

(12:29):
told you guys, this is probably gonna happen. Right when
I predicted, I said, this circuit court that is conservative
is likely going to end up upholding Roger Goodell's suspension
of Zike Elliott. Now, this is a procedural decision. So
Zike Elliott right now is technically gonna start serving his
suspension on the bye week this week. Uh if if

(12:52):
things don't change, if they don't rapidly file something to
get a reversal of this order. But if he's out
for six weeks, that would be five games I believe
are the Cowboys even going to be contending for the
NFC East by the time Ezekiel Elliott comes back? And,
like I said, question for you guys, who would you

(13:13):
rather have right now? Carson Wentz or Dak Prescott. Is
Carson Wentz actually the better quarterback? He just maybe Now
that the Eagles have moved to five and one and man,
look like they could be the class of the NFC East,
we'll talk about all that more breakdown when we saw
last night. I'm Clay Travis. Thank you for spending your

(13:35):
Friday morning with us here on out kick the coverage.
Great news, quick way you could save money. Switched to

Visit True Car to enjoy a more confident car buying experience.
Talking about the nationals futility and the larger context futility
of the Washington, d C. Area. Apologies to DC area
sports fans. By the way, good news, good news for

(14:17):
everybody out there. It's Friday. This will be the last
day that all three hours about Kick are not back
on satellite radio. Starting if you're listening right now, we're
on Sirius XM channel eight three. A lot of you
have been asking questions um about when the show is
going to be back on satellite radio for all three hours.
The answer is Monday, will be on channel to eighteen

(14:40):
and channel two oh two on x M. Now, I
understand that some of those stations may not show up
right now. I think they're gonna be debuting a couple
of new channels. I'm not sure exactly how that's gonna work.
All I know is I have been told we're gonna
be on channel to eighteen on Sirius and channel two
o two on XM. So trust me and go ahead

(15:03):
and pre set your satellite radio. If you want to
be able to hear all three hours, then right now,
go ahead and pre set channel to eighteen on Sirious,
channel two oh two on x M. And I am
told that when you are in your car on Monday,
instead of this show going off in about ten minutes,

(15:26):
eight minutes and you getting that show on FS one
that nobody watches and that nobody listens to in their car,
you'll be able to hear me. So that's great news
all three hours. Thanks to Sirius XM for getting it
worked out. Sorry, it took a little bit of time
for that to happen. But starting on Monday, when we're
reacting to Week six in the NFL and Week seven

(15:47):
in college football, you'll be able to have us on
for all three hours. So appreciate all of you again,
Channel to eighteen on Sirious, channel two oh two on XM.
Sadness in Washington, d C over are yet another loss.
And this is I saw ESPN. My my friend Darren
ravel over there. He tweeted out the last eighteen single

(16:09):
game elimination situations, whether it's NFL, whether it's hockey, whether
it is basketball, or whether it is the Nationals, and
this is crazy. In two thousand seventeen and the n LDS,
Nationals lose two thousand seventeen Capitals second round. These are
elimination games, game seven, game five, or football game. Capitals

(16:30):
lose Conference Center semifinals this past year, Wizards game seven loss,
last year, Nationals game five loss. Redskins when they made
the playoffs in two thousand fifteen lost two thousand fifteen
Capital second round loss. Now, to be fair, the Capitals
in the first round, they won game seven back in

(16:50):
otherwise two thousand thirteen Capitals Conference quarterfinals lost, Redskins. Two
thousand twelve and the wild card lost two thousand twelve
Capitals Conference semifinals, Game seven lost. So you go all
the way back, and there is so much futility in
the DC area. Again, the last championship with the Washington Redskins.

(17:16):
Now a lot of you want to react to that.
Eight seven seven six three six nine, Jeff and Minneapolis,
You guys in Minneapolis. You're always wanting to argue that
things are worse with you. Unfortunately it's not true, but
you can make the argument, Jeff. Yeah, well yeah we
got you, thank you. Yeah, you're with us, all right?

(17:37):
Sorry about that. Um yeah, Minneapolis, I think we got
your beat with our last championship. Unless you're coning the links,
which I do love that they're good. But if we're
being honest, Jeff, I'm not counting. I'm not counting the
w n b A in a city sports history. So no.
But but you guys have had more success. You've had
a team in the finals since the red Skins have

(18:01):
and he had a really final I think, Uh, weren't
the Minnesota Timberwolves in the finals? Uh no, No, who
was it? Who was it? That was? Who wasn't that?
They've had teams in the finals. Yeah, the Vikings Kings
in two nine when they Yeah, but that's them. That's

(18:28):
what I'm talking about. The conference. I'm talking about the
conference finals. You've been to the conference finals since the
team's in Washington, d C. I'm talking about the final four.
You lost. Obviously you hate to rub it in, but
you lost on the Gary Anderson missed field goal against
the What year was that now? Like, yeah, the Falcons
beat you guys obviously the dirty Bird era and then

(18:50):
you lost, uh and you went to when I say
the finals, I mean the conference finals. And then didn't
the Timberwolves go to the conference finals two? The Wolves? Yeah,
they lost to the Latin later in the conference finals.
When you look at it all, we're drafting guys like
Ricky Rubio and Johnny Flynn and passing up on stuff
in Stefon Curry, we got, we got the wild who

(19:12):
had I think the third most points and hockey last
year get Shrons by the Blues in the first round.
I mean it's been put when we get to the hey,
at least you get the Super Bowl this year and
the Vikings are gonna be there, right, Yeah, well they
might be there watching. Thanks thanks for the call. Yeah,

(19:33):
if you look at the overall data, I understand Minneapolis
Minnesota aris area sports fans want to say, like, oh,
we've been the worst. But when the finals I'm talking
about like the final four, your conference finals, not necessarily
the NBA Finals. The Washington D C. Area has had
fewer conference championship game performances and teams advanced there than

(19:59):
anybody in the last twenty five years and it isn't close. Well, Clay,
so would you would you? Could you maybe argue that
it's more heartbreaking to be on the doorstep of the finals,
or you know, no, I think that there's no doubt
that NATS fans would much rather have beaten the Cubs here,
have beaten the have beaten the Dodgers and lost in

(20:20):
the World Series, than to lose again in the first
round n LDS. I understand that argument of oh, it
sucks to win a couple of series and get to
the championship game, championship series and then lose. I just
I don't buy into that at all, because at least
then the city's sort of patna of utility is lost.

(20:41):
I mean, I just ran through all those elimination game
losses in Game five, Game seven's everything else. I mean,
the DC area, I really do believe, is the saddest
sports town in America over the last twenty five years.
They've gone the longest without a championship. What year did
the uh man Anesota Twins when against the Braves? Was

(21:03):
that ninety two? As well? Is that the same Redskins
won the Super Bowl and ninety two over the Buffalo Bills.
So that's the that's the best argument you have if
you're a Minnesota ares area sports fan is that by
one year, the Redskins have won a championship for d
C more recently than Minnesota has. Now, I know there's

(21:23):
a lot of people out there who are Bills fans.
Difference with Bills fans and and the Buffalo area with
the Sabers is you don't have all four pro sports
franchises right or three or more um, Because I would
agree that Buffalo is also got a lot of claim
on being a sad sports town. Honestly, so does the
city of Nashville. Although the Preds obviously nearly one the

(21:47):
Stanley Cup this past year, when you look at the
futility there, there's never been a championship in the city
of Nashville. I mean, there are a few cities you
can point to, but I and when you look at
the long range history, I think it's Washington as the worst.
Minnesota would be second. Uh this area, Minnesota area, Minneapolis
area would be second. Then I think you have to

(22:07):
start to consider, Okay, are we gonna look You can't
look at single franchises, because that's not really fair cities
with single sports franchises or even I don't think too
in the grand scheme of things, which is what knocks
like a city like Buffalo and a city like Nashville
a little bit different. And also I'm not counting the
MLS and I'm not counting I'm sorry MLS fans, and

(22:28):
I'm not counting w n b A because in Minnesota,
the Links have a dynasty going right now. Yeah, well,
I'm sure that that's not helping people out in Minnesota
when the Twins lose that they can be like, well,
at least we've got the Links. Let's not forget not
just the I mean, the Nationals obviously just lost last night,
but the Twins lost a chance to make it to
the playoffs in the one game playoff against the Yankees

(22:50):
right before the postseason started. But I think the difference
utility together. Yeah, the differences with the Twins. I think
they were really excited just to make the playoffs, where
as the Nationals for the last several years have really
legitimately believed we can win the World Series and they
haven't even been able to get out of the Division
Round eight seven seven, six, three, six nine. Let's bring

(23:13):
in Eddie Garcia, have him break down the world at large.
You guys can load up the phone lines if you
so desire, all right, Clay Well post season baseball. It
was the deciding Game five of the National League Division Series,
with the Cubs beating the Nationals nine to eight in
d c. Now. Washington jumped out to a four one
lead with Chicago score two in the third, four and
the fifth, and one in the sixth and seventh, then

(23:34):
hold on for the victory. Addison Russell drove in four
runs and closer Wade Davis recorded the final seven outs
to get the save for Washington. Their start pitcherin Max
Suers are normally a starter, came on and relief. He
allowed four runs, ended up taking the loss. Chicago advances
to the National Leage Championship Series. The face of the
Dodgers in l A starting on Saturday, Week six in
the NFL got on away thurs the night in Charlotte

(23:55):
with the Eagles beating the Panthers three. Carson Wins had
three touchdown passes for philadelph be in the win. Carolina
quarterback Cam Newton through three interceptions in the loss Philadelphia
is now five and one and on top of the
NFC East Carolina drops to four and two. An appeals
court ruled in favor of the NFL, resulting in the
preliminary injunction of Ezekiel Eli at six games band for
violated league's personal comic policy being thrown out, meaning the

(24:17):
suspension for the Cowboys start running back is back on
affective immediately. The NFL Players Association is expected to refile
the case in New York. The Cowboys, meanwhile, have a
bye this week. And Clay I don't know if you
saw this, but first Kevin Durant and now Roger Goodell's wife,
the NFL commissioner's better half, has been using an anonymous
Twitter account to defend her husband against critical online stories.

(24:40):
When The Wall Street Journal discovered that she was doing this,
Jane Skinner Goodell called it a passionate act done out
of love. The account has since been deleted. I saw
that story. It's a great Wall Street Journal story, and
it doesn't surprise me at all. I think there's probably
a lot of wives and kids and and uh maybe

(25:00):
even some of the people themselves Kat style who are
defending themselves on social media. But if you didn't see
that story, it is a great one. It makes me
like Roger Goodell Moore. I'll tell you what I had
to get my mom to not go into the comments
and sat and respond to people saying mean things like
I tweeted this yesterday. My mom, when I first started
writing online, would go into internet comments and respond to

(25:24):
people because they would say mean things about me. And
I was I was like, Mom, You've gotta stop doing this.
You got to not get involved in you know, like
our and our under our own name. It wasn't even
you know, like it wasn't even anybody else. And I
was like, Mom, you can't. You can't go into the
comments and defend me. I understand that I'm your son

(25:45):
and you think that I'm a great human being and
that people say mean things about about me all the time,
but you cannot go into the comments. Don't worry about it.
I've got thick skin, I'm making a good living. Uh,
don't don't worry about it. Any of your mom's ever
get inolved in any criticism from you guys. Like it's
a perfect mom story to like to to go read

(26:05):
an article and then I don't even read the comments
really on I I don't remember the last time that
I read comments on an article that I wrote. Now
I do read my Twitter mentions, so I mean I
get comments there, but that's just you know, kind of
habit now. But actually scroll down and read whatever comments
are left after an article. I haven't done in a
long time because I'm just busy, and also because there's

(26:27):
never been a time where somebody's ever left me a
comment and I've been like, oh, you know what, that
makes a lot more sense, I guess. The other thing
on Twitter mentions is a lot of Twitter mentions do
help me out, Like there are links to things that
I would not have otherwise thought of, or there there people,
you know, pointing out cool things online that they think
that I will like. But uh, and that's different than
maybe reading Facebook comments or reading the comments on an

(26:49):
article itself. Any of your mom's ever get involved in
your careers in any way? Actually, actually did your mom
even get No? My mom do even have the knowledge,
I don't believe, or the interest level. Actually, my dad
is not like an online person, so there's a zero
percent chance he would get involved in like a comment

(27:10):
thread war. What about I bet there's a lot of
people out there listening right now. Who's pomp moms or
dad's Probably moms have gotten involved in like Facebook comment
wars where you know, somebody's arguing back and forth stuff
like that. Um, I haven't done it. I don't get
on like I do what I do on Twitter, but
I don't, like even have an active Facebook account. I

(27:32):
don't remember the last time I went on regular Facebook.
Because I spend so much time on social media, I
have no idea what my actual friends are up to
on Facebook. Like, I just don't get on there. Occasionally
I get tagged because my wife's putting up pictures of
the kids or something like that, and I like to
go see those. But otherwise I'm not really that active.
What about you guys out in l A mom ever
get involved in defending you for for anything relating to

(27:53):
your job. Well, I don't know about as far as defense.
And I mean, luckily when I was you know, when
you were a child actor. Yeah, there was no social
media back then, so there wasn't any of that. The
only thing that I can think of, which was was embarrassing.
Even at the time of my mom getting involved, she
was very I don't know if uptight is the right word.

(28:15):
But she she didn't want, you know, anybody cussing around
me and stuff like, yeah, I wasn't allowed to see
radar on movies and so until you were like what cat,
I was pretty I was pretty old. I mean I
think I was probably like thirteen before I was even
allowed to see one. But Dennis the Menace to well, well, no,

(28:35):
Dennis the Menace too is actually this this is where
the story comes into play. Don Rickles played Mr Wilson
in that and you know, Don Rickles one of the more,
you know, dirtier comedians around, and my mom had the
gall to go up to him, like the first day
of filming and was like, don't don't you cuss around
my kid. I'm like, oh jeez, mom, So what did he?

(28:57):
What did Don Rickles say when when your mom said
don't cuss around him? He was actually very very professional
about he never he never did. I mean, what if
he what would your mom have done? If he had
just been like, f you nothing, I don't she probably
would have knowing her gone and like complained to the
director or something. She was like that. She was a

(29:18):
stage mom, so she would sit with you in your
trailer all the time on the lots. Oh yeah, going
going over lines with me and all kinds of stuff.
I'm not surprised she grew up and had a cat.
Um by the way, by the way, uh, brutal thing here. Um. Well,
First of all, good news for Major League Baseball. They
got the four largest cities represented in their in their NLCS,

(29:43):
n l d S, sorry, n l c S, n A,
l c S, New York, l A, Chicago, and Houston
all wrapped. It's about as good as you can get
from Major League Baseball. This uh is pretty crazy and
and unfortunate. D C hasn't had a conference finals team
in nineteen years, and this year the Nationals, the Wizards,
and the Caps all lost deciding game series in excruciating fashion.

(30:08):
Caps lost Game seven, Wizards lost Game seven, and the
Nats lost Game five, all within just a few months
of each other. So DC area, I really do believe
the saddest, most brutal sports town in America right now.
I think that's a fair approximation of where we are,
all right, coming back, final segment our one, Shall we

(30:31):
do some animal thunderdome? Maybe we'll do some animal Thunderdome.
I think we had a couple of stories we didn't
get to from yesterday. And also I said, we gotta
go ahead and unpack this story about the Detroit. One
of you guys pull up the story. I know it
was Robert's story, but one of you guys go ahead
and pull it. Pull it up, because people ask me
about how come we didn't come back and talk about
it again. Somebody got shot while they were trying to

(30:53):
kill an animal, and it's the most Detroit story possible.
We're gonna hit that for You're gonna want to hear it.
I'm Clay Travis. This is OutKick the coverage, Naughty by
Nature bringing us back? Was this ninety three? What year
did this come out? Eighth grade? For me? I think

(31:13):
this song took over eighth grade time for the Geico
play the day, d c You poor bastards. You've got
Bryce Harper up in the ninth Wade Davis on the mound.
This is what happened, the three to to Harper swinging
them as straight three and the Cubs win it. The
Cubs are in the League Championship Series for the third
consecutive year. He struck out Bryce Harper on a low

(31:36):
inside breaking ball and a great happy scene of excited
Cubs chumping up and down on the mound here at
Nationals Park in Washington. What a ball game? Uh? That
is once more the Nationals. Nineteen years now straight DCS
area sports teams have not advanced or one a conference championship.

(31:57):
Nats losing a close out game yet again, the third
one in the DC area this year. The Wizards did it,
the Nats did it, and the Caps did it. I
apologized to d C area sports fans, but the Dodgers
are on to now face the Cubs in the NLCS.
That's your Geico Play the day, great news, quick way

(32:18):
you could save money. Switched to Geico. Go to Geico
dot com and in fifteen minutes you could say fifteen
or more on car insurance. Game one will be in
l A Saturday at eight o'clock Eastern, five o'clock local time.
I want to hit on this. This is an interesting
study out of let's see, I believe it's the New

(32:40):
York Times. I'm scrolling through. Yeah, the New York Times.
This came out yesterday. The most polarizing brands in America
right now, based on surveys. What do you think the
most polarizing brand is in America. Probably can guess Donald
Trump's hotels. Donald Trump's hotels are the most polarizing brands

(33:03):
in America. That is, Republicans i e. Trump voters hold
them in high esteem. Hillary Clinton voters hold them in
low esteem. That makes sense, right, that there would be
a huge gap between how Hillary Clinton supporters view Donald
Trump's hotels and how Donald Trump's fans view his hotels.
Not a real surprise. The other ones are also not

(33:25):
that surprising because the media has become so polarizing. CNN
is very highly viewed by Clinton voters, disliked by Trump voters.
NBC News Donald Trump recently has gone to war with
NBC News. It's very highly liked by Clinton voters, disliked
by Trump voters. New York Times, MSNBC, Fox News. You

(33:49):
can see why all of those would be polarizing two voters, right,
Not really a surprise that CNN, NBC, New York Times, MSNBC,
Fox News, Huffington Post, ABC, CBS would all be controversial
because people think, oh, they're leaning one way or the other.

(34:09):
This is actually really fascinating. How about the most polarizing
non in any way political or news organization in the
country right now, it ain't good the NFL. The NFL
ever since the Colin Kaepernick protests started, and by the way,
not a lot of attention to this, but since the

(34:31):
Colin Kaepernick's protests started last year, NFL ratings are down
nearly so if you go back to two thousand fifteen,
the year before Colin Kaepernick started his protest, NFL ratings
have dropped. The NFL now is among the most polarizing
brands in the country. In fact, the most polarizing brand

(34:55):
in the country. If you take out political connection to
the Trump hotel, l and any news organization, the NFL
is now the most polarizing company in America. Clinton voters
have a positive view of the NFL. Trump voters have

(35:15):
a negative view of the NFL, and it's a pretty
substantial difference. The other ones on this list are and
I don't know why this is so uh like net favorability, Cabella's.
What is Cabela's? Is that like an outdoor retail store? Well,
are they particularly political? I would, I don't. I've never

(35:36):
really heard, because I haven't really paid that close of
attention to Cabela's or Bass Pro shops or things like that.
But I would assume Cabela's is a pretty conservative company.
Plus they're obviously very pro Second Amendment, which might make
that pretty controversial to the left. Yeah, Trump voters love Cabela's,
and I, I mean, I have no idea why that
would be. Um. Chick fil A is also considered to

(35:58):
be the most contract I didn't know this. Are there
Democrats that hate Chick fil A because really because of
the anti gay Yeah? I know things, but they don't Actually,
I mean, Chick fil A's business is insanely successful. Are
there people out there who won't go eat Chick fil
A who are Democrats? There's a lot of dumb people, Clay,
I mean the chick flate. I've said this before. If

(36:20):
I were gay, I would still eat a Chick fil
A because the chicken sandwich is so good. So Chick
fil A is incredibly polarizing, loved by Republicans, hated by Democrats.
But this is kind of puts it into perspective. The
NFL is more polarizing right now than Chick fil A.
Everybody knew that Chick fil A story over gay marriage.
The NFL is the most polarizing brand in America right now,

(36:44):
if you take out news, and if you take out
Donald Trump, the most polarizing brand in America right now
is the NFL. Republicans and Trump voters very negative view
of the NFL, and Democrats don't have that high of
a view of the NFL. These other polarizing companies at
least they're really loved by one side or the other.

(37:05):
The NFL is the most polarizing company in America that
isn't a Donald Trump company or a news organization. That's
pretty crazy that surprise you guys. I mean, the most
polarizing companies in America that aren't news gathering and don't
um have a connection to Donald Trump. The NFL is
number one, Chick fil a is number two, and Cabella's

(37:29):
is number three, And I I mean, I didn't know
anything at all about Cabela's, and I think maybe Jason
Martin's right, it's just over the fact that they sell guns.
But that kind of really puts into perspective how out
there NFL polarization has become. Is there anybody who thinks
this is good for the NFL? No? Even players, I
think are starting to recognize, you know what this protest

(37:52):
is actually really bad for the NFL business. But I
think that puts into perspective. This is a New York
Times study the NFL. If you eliminate um, if you
eliminate right now news gathering organizations and Trump himself, because
the Trump hotels, the Trump brand in general, that's obviously,
I mean, that's just political. Trump voters like the Trump brand.

(38:15):
Clinton voters do not. The NFL is now the most
polarizing brand in all of America. Wow, since Colin Kaepernick
started his protest, ratings are down. Adn't good. Chick fil
A's fine. Chick fil A business is spectacular. Revenue for
every Chick fil A restaurant is twice the revenue of

(38:37):
any other fast food restaurant, So that hasn't hurt Chick
fil A's business at all. Cabela's, I'm assuming, is doing fine.
The NFL is tanking. I'll open up your phone lines
eight seven seven three six nine. I mean, Jason Martin,
that's that has to surprise you too, right, that of
all the brands in America right now, the NFL would
be the most polarizing. Well, I mean, it's interesting and

(38:58):
it's coming out of at this time. I think it's
what's more problematic for the NFL is that so much
of its viewing audience happens to be on the side
that sees them in a negative light right now. That is,
in other words, football fans are Republicans more so than
their Democrats. And that's certainly the passenger. Football fans are

(39:20):
more conservative. It seems like, no, that's certainly true. If
you look at voter registers. I've got one in front
of me right now where it ranks the different sports
by how people vote. In general, football fans skew about
more likely to vote Republican. Doesn't mean that, And inevitably
when this happens, like because of the Internet, people are like, well,
I have a hard court. I voted for Bernie Sanders

(39:41):
and I love the NFL. Al right, that's fine. I'm
not saying you don't exist. I'm saying, in general, football
fans are conservative, they vote republican. Football stadiums are filled
with Republican voters, and so man, that's an unbelievable statistic,
polarizing I forgot to do the the the the the
Animal Thunderdome will do it at the top of our
to My apologies to everyone out there. We'll give you

(40:03):
the Animal Thunderdome to start our two here on out Kick.
Hope your Friday is going spectacularly Well, I saw that
data on the most polarizing brands in America. I couldn't
believe it. This is out Kick the coverage. Thank you
for spending your Friday with us. Go download the podcast

go out Kick Studios, where fifteen minutes could save you
fifteen percent or more on car insurance. Visit Geico dot

I forgot to get to it in the set last
segment of our one. So let's go ahead and play
the music. Boys, start off hour to get everybody ready
on Friday with the Animal Thunderdome, Ladies and gentlemen. I'm

(40:47):
just glad I was scared, boys and good. I thought
he thought I was like this enormous piece of chicken
diarm times. My space is Animal thunder Dog Daughter. All right,
boys and girls out there, what have we got to

(41:08):
scare people with in the ongoing war between man and beast? Well,
this is more on the story that Robert kind of
touched on a few days ago. Sixty one year old
Michael Williams in Detroit was spraying for bugs outside his
home on Monday evening when he heard his neighbor call
for help. He saw his neighbor screaming, terrified and waving
what he described the police and officials as a scarf

(41:30):
to ward off a pit bull that was attacking her.
So he goes over there. He stands between her and
the dog. He had a gun in his left hand,
which discharged and hit the fifty three year old woman.
And this is very sad, but the Wayne County Medical
Examiner then identified her and ruled the death a homicide.
She died of the gunshot wound to the left flank,

(41:50):
according to the medical examiner. Williams explained it by saying
this he patrols the neighborhood in his car to protect
children on a fairly regular base. Is he wasn't aiming.
Has no idea how the bullet hit his neighbor, who
was taken to a hospital quickly and then died. So
a pit bull was attacking a woman. A man who's

(42:12):
outside supposedly spraying for bugs, has a gun with him.
Then he goes by I mean it's I guess that,
or it's nearby, because he claimed that he patrols the
neighborhood in his car to protect children. Obviously he wasn't
doing that at the time because he was spraying for bugs.
But I imagine he has a gun pretty close by
if he kind of takes on that, I don't know.

(42:32):
One this is a made up story. If they charged
him with a homicide, police are not buying this story.
If they charged him with a homicide, Like, nothing about
this story makes sense. All right, So guys outside spraying
for bugs in the Detroit area, and then he notices
that his neighbor is fighting with a pit bull and
she's got a scarf. I mean, what in the world

(42:54):
is the point of the scarf? In the story he
is ordinarily patrolling the neighborhood with a gun to protect kids.
That doesn't make sense either. And then he takes his
gun over there to try to scare away the dog,
and the gun accidentally goes off and he kills somebody.
I think he just killed somebody and tried to blame
it on the pit bull. I think it's very possible
because listen to the rest of the story. After his
neighbor was shot. William said. He carried her to her

(43:16):
porch and then went after the dog, firing about two shots,
but he failed to hit it. Describe the dog as
a beige or tan color pit bull. That was mean.
The dog was like hungary, William said. But this is
where it gets interesting. I couldn't remember if his neighbor
had been bitten. He didn't suffer any injuries from the dog.
Officers who responded were not able to immediately locate the dog.
So and they're not sure if the dog was shot

(43:39):
or not. So as far as I can tell, unless
something has changed, they couldn't even find a dog. So
this story, there's not even a dog there. This story
doesn't make any sense. So you accidentally shoot somebody, all right,
You carry him to their porch, and then you take
your gun and go try and shoot the dog too. Like,

(44:00):
that doesn't make any sense. You just shot someone that
at that point in time, the threat from the dog
is not that substantial, right, Basically, people would shoot someone.
This guy just shot this woman and then tried to
blame it on a dog. This humans blameing dogs. Human
trying to blame the animal. Thunderdome unfairly. I think the
dog is the hero here. Dog existed. We talked about

(44:21):
it being a homicide, and maybe you can explain this
with your legal background. I'm not sure, but it said
authorities investigating the incident. The gentleman who shot the woman
is very cooperative. He is not in custody, but the
investigation is still open and will continue after it completes.
A warrant packet will be submitted to the prosecutor's office,
just like any other case. That's he hasn't been Yeah, okay,

(44:45):
so they're gonna conduct an investigation, try to figure out
what happened. Maybe take this to a grand jury and
allow the grand jury to see the evidence to see
whether or not they believe that this was worthy of
being a crime. Would be my guest. So there hasn't
been charges filed? Man, all right? L A, you guys
got anything? Is l A? There has there been? Has

(45:09):
there been an earthquake? The dodgers are in the NLCS,
and and and then nobody can even figure out what
that guy. Wouldn't even have a bogus story if that
was a cat involved in the story. That's what you
were thinking, wasn't it justin Cooper. Everybody agreed with me
yesterday that a single man who lives with a cat
has less sex than a single man who would live

(45:30):
without a cat. Remember we mentioned, Remember we mentioned panthers.
Yesterday a Florida woman filmed a panther just watching her
from her backyard. It was just chilling by her pool
at Golden Gate of States in Florida a couple of
days ago, and the cat was just sitting there from
outside the glass wall of this pool, just staring at
her through the door. There's just a panther hanging out

(45:53):
in the backyard and Florida. I was thinking, and when
I first saw him, like, was it a hockey player?
It was just a hockey player on the other side
and Florida Panthers. Yeah, I get it, I get it.
It's really I'm just I don't know, you're not a
hockey guy. So I thought I needed to really lay
it out there for everybody out there is just doubled
over and laughter. I mean you, you definitely brought the
throught the funny this morning for them on their way

(46:13):
to work there with that joke. Thank you very much.
I tried my best. Uh so uh that there is
your Animal Thunderdome appreciate all of you. You can share
your Animal Thunderdome stories with us. Also, did you check
the voicemail line? Did we have good voicemails for the
final hour today? No, I'm disappointed in the callers were disappointed.
There was not a good week of calls. You're telling us, No, No,

(46:35):
this is this is a this is a very very
just shameful shameful for some. I mean, honestly, I was
hoping we were gonna get people doing the white privileged
thing that wanted to be considered for it, because we
could have run through all of their resumes on the air.
But no one has done that with any expertise at all.
The few of that very very bad. It's eight five

(46:56):
five five hundred, Clay. That's to is what happens, right,
Lots of Monday Morning quarterbacking of white privilege expert Bob
from Ohio. Lots of people who thought he did a
bad job, lots of Twitter angst anger. I was one
of them. Yeah, but I wanted to be my own
white privilege expert. I'm saying for the people out there
that we're criticizing Bob from Ohio on white privileged Wednesdays,

(47:18):
a lot of people said they wanted to be our
white privilege expert, and then we give out the phone number.
We give them an opportunity to be the white privilege
expert to try to replace Bob because there's a lot
of criticism about Bob's performance and we might have to
go back to Bob because nobody has stepped up and
been able to perform at a high level. Uh. Yesterday
I gave you the Travis compromise for the NFL. I

(47:38):
just tweeted out the most the most polarizing brand in
America right now that isn't involved in news or politics
is the NFL. And I tweeted out the idea of
a Travis compromise that would be good for the NFL.
All players on the field for the anthem have to stand,
but if you want to protest, you can stay in
the locker room for the anthem. Is that a good idea?

(48:00):
Sixty five percent of you, we had almost twenty thousand
votes in the twenty four hours I've left left this
poll question up for twenty four hours. Nearly twenty thousand
of you voted, and six of you chose yes. I
love it. Over no, I hate it. Now. I'm not
saying that I am the man who can bring America together.

(48:21):
I'm not saying that I'm the hero that this nation
deserves right now. Both of those things are true, but
I'm not saying it because I'm not the kind of
guy who wants to bring attention to himself or brag.
But if I were out there right now representing the NFL,
and I saw that nineteen thousand people had voted on
the Travis Compromise and sixty percent of people had agreed
with it, that the best way to solve this issue

(48:43):
for the NFL is to force players who were standing
on the field, who were on the field for the
national anthem, to stand. But if you don't want to
do it, you stay in the locker room. Now controversy
could follow. Did you guys see this? It didn't get
that much attention, I think because most people don't know
who he is. But Titan wide receiver Richard Matthews tweeted

(49:05):
yesterday in response to a fan question about whether or
not he would stand for the national anthem if he
was required. This was, again I think not true, But
he said. Somebody asked if NFL makes a new rule
on the anthem? Will you stay in the locker room
and face the fine or penalty? Richard Matthews, who is

(49:27):
making five million dollars as a wide receiver for the
Tennessee Titans, says no, I will be done playing football
if he is forced to stand for the national anthem.
Let's go around the horn. Do you believe that Richard Matthews,
who makes five million dollars a year to play football,

(49:47):
will quit playing football if he's forced to stand for
the national anthem? I don't. I just I find that
very very hard to believe. I think it's really easy
to say that when you don't have to necessar serially
back it up. Richard Matthews is an awfully good football
player as well, so he wouldn't be walking away from
a bad career. He would be walking away from what

(50:08):
should be a decent chunk of change the next time
he gets paid off. So I would be very surprised
if he were someone that would actually walk away from
the game at this stage. Any belief at all in
l a Danny g or justin that Rochard Matthews. If
you don't know who he is Titans receiver now, he
was formerly a Miami Dolphins receiver. Uh, he has said

(50:28):
again in response yesterday. Now he tweeted this and then
he deleted it, but a couple of you had grabbed
it and sent it to me. Uh. If the NFL
makes a new rule on anthem, he was asked, will
you stay in locker room and face the fine or
penalty right now? Richard Matthews is not kneeling. He is
staying in the locker room and he has said he
is going to do that until Donald Trump apologizes for

(50:51):
calling NFL players sons of bitches. He responded, no, I
will be done playing football anyway. That's actually true. Danny
g Well, there's a little more to this story. To Clay,
I was reading yesterday that his dad fought and it
was in the service for years, and his brother, who
I believe passed away, also was in the service. And

(51:11):
so even though he was a former teammate of cap
at Nevada, he was one of the players that was
against kneeling or sitting until Number forty five made those
comments against the NFL and the s ob and all that.
So it seems like he was super triggered by Donald
and so he said even though he thinks, you know,
his his brother would have understood how he was supporting,

(51:35):
you know, the service and everything earlier. He said his
brother would also understand what he's doing right now. So
this is ridiculous to me. Donald Trump said something you
don't like and now you're gonna quit your profession over it.
To me, if you break it down right, that's a
He is not a guy who started protesting until Donald
Trump called an NFL players sons of bitches, so he

(51:57):
is now willing to quit his career. According to this
tweet over Donald Trump saying that he thought everybody should
stand I mean, that's crazy, right, I mean, regardless of
what political belief you have, if somebody right now said
something mean, I mean, that's like somebody saying something mean
about me and me being like, like, if Donald Trump
right now went on went on Twitter and said, and

(52:20):
obviously this wouldn't be true because we know he listens
and he loves the show. Probably, but if he went
on Twitter and he said Clay Travis is the worst
sports talk radio show host of all time and Fox
Sports Radio should fire him, and he ought to be
more respectful of the country, Let's just say Donald Trump
said that and he's and by the way, and also

(52:41):
he's the son of a bit. Like, let's say that
Donald Trump just insulted me like all that stuff. Do
you think there's any way on earth that I would
stop doing what I do because Donald Trump said something
that I disagreed with, and because even if he personally
attacked me. Well, I think it depends, Clay, because I
know you, and if he personally attacked you, you would

(53:02):
attack him back on the airwaves. But then what if
the company it said no, you're not allowed to respond,
then I feel like maybe you would quit. Well that's interesting. Um, well,
first of all, Richard Matthews is allowed to respond. He's
allowed to go out and have a press conference and
say whatever he wants about the President of the United States. Well,

(53:25):
he just wants to stay in the locker room, and
that was part of your compromise. Yeah, I agree, But
I'm saying, he responded, I'm saying my compromise would allow
him to continue to do what he's doing. But I'm
saying he said he would quit if he was made
to stand for the national anthem. He said he would
quit playing football. Your analogy there, justin is I'm never

(53:47):
allowed to respond to what the President said about me, ever,
which there's no doubt, like, I'm never gonna shut my
mouth whether you like me or not. I'm a I'm
a First Amendment absolutist, so I'm always going to tell
you actually what I believe. But Richard Matthews, that's the
thing about these players. They're not being told they can't
have political opinions. They're just being told that it's bad

(54:10):
for the NFL's business for them to have political opinions
while they're in uniform at their job. And that's why
I've used my analogy about everybody else who wears a
uniform at work. None of them would be allowed to
have political opinions in their uniform at their job. Military
people are not allowed to have political opinions in their

(54:33):
uniform at their job. They aren't allowed to do that, FedEx, ups, Walmart,
everybody out there right now, police officers, everybody who wears
a uniform to represent their employer on the job is
not allowed to do it. I mean, a member of
the military would not be allowed to take a knee

(54:54):
in the morning when they're raising or lowering the flag.
That wouldn't be a decision that's allowed in the mility, Harry,
you would eventually be court martialed. I believe if you
were taking a knee during the raising or the lowering
of the flag while in your uniform at your job.
So I just think it's fascinating that Richard Matthew says
he would quit playing football if he's made to stand

(55:17):
for the national anthem. I don't know how many other
people have paid attention to this story. Yet's the first
player I've ever seen say something like that. I think
it's crazy if you disagree with what the flag represents
so much and the anthem represents so much that you
will stop playing your sport. It's one of the craziest

(55:38):
things ever. Now credit to him, I guess, for having
the courage of his convictions. I think it might be
the dumbest thing I've ever seen an athlete say eight
seven seven six three six nine, and that's saying something.
We'll open up the phone lines for you, guys, Donald Trump,
you can call in let us know what you think
about Richard Matthews. I'm Clay Travis. This is outkicked coverage.

I want to UH give my my best. I don't
even know that the phrase here to use, but I
have been reading about these uh wildfires in northern California
and they are now impacting the world of sports. They're
not sure whether the Raiders are going to be able
to play, whether I believe yet tonight, have they canceled

(56:42):
the game or not between Washington State and cal which
is taking place in Berkeley. UH. I feel like we
paid a lot of attention on this show to Houston
and UH and certainly to the state of Texas and
certainly the state of California. Sorry, the state of Florida.
With the hurricanes that hit. I apologize for not having
talked enough about this. I mean, it is devastating in

(57:02):
Northern California right now, and I feel like the the
ravages that that area of the country are going through
have been not covered as much as the hurricanes were.
And uh, it's a it's an incredible disaster out there.
And we have a huge group of listeners obviously in
Northern California who start off their mornings with us, and
so we're thinking of you as part of the out

(57:24):
Kick family here and uh, Danny G You've got some
some info for us. So yeah, we definitely gotta shout
out seven the game, which is our big affiliate there
in San Francisco, Napa, Sonora, I'm sorry Sonoma, Sonoma, and
uh and of course Santa Rosa. All those areas affect
there's so many fires blazon and you might have saw

(57:46):
the images of the Raiders cutting their practices short in
Alameda and a lot of the players wearing the masks
over their face because the air quality is so bad.
And I'm actually going up to visit family this weekend.
I have tickets for the Raider Chargers game on Sunday.
And now it's kind of up in the air because
all the reports yesterday we're saying that the Raiders were

(58:07):
checking with the Niners, who are unfortunately on the road
this week, So it might be a possibility to move
the game to Santa Clara because that's a little further away. Obviously,
the air quality is a little better there in the Bay,
but in Oakland right now, which is thirty five minutes
away from NAPA, the air quality is horrible. So the
NFL is looking at, you know, some other contingency plans,

(58:31):
a couple of crazy ones. The mayor of San Diego
said he'd be willing to host the game at Qualcom,
which would be strange to have the l A Chargers
there in San Diego, right, Why couldn't they just play
it in stub Hub. Um, yeah, that's another option because
later later in the season they could they could trade
because later, yeah, they could trade. And the Chargers don't

(58:52):
have much about the reason why they're having there having
a soccer game there on Sunday afternoon, that's why. Yeah,
in l A Coliseum is the other option also, And
I don't think there's been you guys can check. I
don't think there's been any official word but the first
game to actually take place. Is there any official word
on Washington State and Cow yet? Jason Martin, it looks

(59:13):
like it's still gonna happen. The air quality Index in
Berkeley was measured at one fifty five yesterday morning. UH.
A QUI between one and two hundred is deemed unhealthy. UH.
The day before, the a Q high had risen as
high as one eight seven, which is just hideously bad.
But according to the n C double A. According to
the Pack twelve, the quote is as of the time

(59:35):
of this release, which was yesterday afternoon. We do not
anticipate any changes to our scheduled game with Washington State,
so it looks like Washington State and cal is not
going to be fully affected by this, Although the Pack
twelve is still monitoring the air quality situation. From what
we can tell, looks like that game is going to
happen tonight as scheduled. I got you, UM, let's go
ahead and take a couple of your calls, and then

(59:56):
we'll bring in my guy Eddie Garcia to give us
an update. Let's go to UH. So anyway, that the
point of all that is, UH, we're thinking about you
and UH and I know it's it's a brutal situation
right there for many of our listeners in the San
Francisco area. Uh, thank you for for spending time with
us in the midst of a awful situation. Maybe we
can do something to help out with that situation when

(01:00:17):
eventually it is it is calmed down and we can
be more helpful. So and thanks, by the way to
everybody out there fighting the fires. And I bet a
lot of those people are listening to to our show
as well. And the Raiders and Niners, by the way,
both pitched in and they're giving a total of five
hundred thousand dollars to the affected areas there. Good for
those two teams. Uh, let's go to let's see here,

(01:00:41):
Let's go to a lot of different comments on here
that people want to get to. Let's go to John
in Ohio. What's up, John Clay. I was just wondering,
what the uh what the player is not really caring
about the ratings and all that. Won't that eventually affect
them down the road when they renegotiate the media contracts. Yeah,
it's a great point, and I think that's This is

(01:01:02):
one of my big things that I tell you guys
all the time is think like an owner, don't think
like an employee. And I think a lot of NFL
players throughout these protests have been thinking like employees, not
thinking like owners. To me, the most, the the best
possible use of your brand to become a brand superstar
is Michael Jordan's. And whether he said it or not,

(01:01:24):
he had attributed to him the line Republicans by sneakers too.
And if you're in the business of trying to become
a global superstar, you can't do that by appealing to
one side of the political aisle. You can't do that
by writing off fifty of the population. And so if
I'm a player, and I think honestly, this is what
Jerry Jones tried to do. Jerry Jones sat down with

(01:01:44):
the Cowboys before their bye week, and I think he
appealed to them as businessman. What did jay Z say,
I'm not a businessman, I'm a businessman. Well, if you
are a businessman, then you need to be thinking about
who you're selling to. And you got to sell your
jersey to everybody. Republicans got to buy your sneakers too.
And so the minute that you go political, you may

(01:02:07):
feel like, oh, you know what I'm I'm I'm being straightforward,
I'm being honest. Well, you're writing off a lot of people.
If you're just waking up right now. I tweeted out
a picture most polarizing brands in America today takeaway news
companies and Donald Trump. The NFL is the most polarizing
brand in America today. That's since Colin Kaepernick started his protest.

(01:02:29):
Ratings are down for NFL games since compared to two
thousand fifteen, So in the past two years, the NFL
has lost one in five of its viewers. Now you
can argue about why that is exactly. Maybe it's cord cutting,
Maybe it's just suddenly everybody decided they like Stranger Things
on Netflix on Sunday instead of sitting around watching the NFL.

(01:02:50):
Certainly every entertainment company out there is facing challenges in
the modern media era because there's so much competition. But
I'll be damned if I don't think that it's a
director as all to the Colin Kaepernick protest and the
subsequent over politicization of America. Remember last year and that
we talked about this on the show why are NFL
Ratings down? And the reason that was cited over and

(01:03:11):
over again was people were paying attention to politics more. Well,
I think Frankly, what's going on right now is that
people are fed up with football being political, and I
think a lot of players are starting to pick up
on this. Certainly a lot of owners are. And again,
look at the data that I just tweeted out, and
it's not good for a sports league to be the
most polarizing company in America right now. Eight seven seven

(01:03:35):
six nine. I'm gonna get to your calls right after this,
but first, Eddie Garcia give us an update on the
world of sports. Well, Clay, let's start with postseason baseball.
The deciding Game five of the National League Division Series
saw the Cubs pulled off the Nationals for a nine
eight win in d c No. Washington jumped out to
a four one lead, but Chicago would come back with
two and the third ending four and the fifth inning,

(01:03:56):
and then a run each in the sixth and seventh
innings that hold on for the victory. Addis and Russell
was a hitting start of Chicago with four runs driven in,
and closer Wade Davis recorded the final seven outs of
the game to get the save. Washington star pitcher Max Schers,
are normally a starter, came on in relief and he
allowed four runs and took the Laws, so the Cubs
advanced the National League Championship Series. They will face the

(01:04:16):
Dodgers in l A starting on Saturday. Week six in
the NFL got underway Thursday night in Charlotte with the
Eagles beating the Panthers three. Quarterback Carson Wentz had three
touchdown passes in the win for Philadelphia. Quarterback Cam Newton
for Carolina had three interceptions in the loss. Philadelphia his
five and one and on top in the NFC East,
Carolina falls to four and two. An appeals court ruled

(01:04:37):
in favor of the NFL, resulting in the preliminary injunction
on Ezekiel Elliott six game ban for violating league's personal
comic policy being thrown out, meaning the suspension for the
Cowboys start running back is back in effect immediately. The
NFL players Associations expected to refile the case in New York.
Cowboys have a by this week. The reports brought to
you by True Car. With True Car, you can find
out what other people in your area paid for the

(01:04:58):
same car you're looking for new were used This is
a true Car and enjoy a more confident car buying
experience and Clay. One other note from that game last
night in UH in Charlotte, Carolina Panthers star linebacker luke
Keickley left the game in the first half, placed in
the concussion protocol. Now was last are the last Thursday
night game that was played in Charlotte. You might remember
quickly suffered a concussion. There was video of him like

(01:05:21):
hyper ventilating and maybe even crying on the field. He
missed the rest of the year. This is his third
concussion in as many years, and people are obviously very
very afraid this could be his last concussion, if you
know what I mean. And look, the Panther's defense a
little bit fell apart once he was injured. Now, I
know they were turnovers associated with it, but they had
not given up a touchdown. Wasn't late in the second

(01:05:42):
quarter prior to prior to his injury. He gets hurt
and that's got to be scary. I mean, if you're
worried about Luke Keickley's future after football, to have that
many concussions that close together, very scary for Panther fans,
certainly for for Luke Keickley fans. UH. This show Comany
Live from the Geico OutKick Studios, where it's easy to
say fiftent or more. On car insurance with Geico, go

(01:06:02):
to Geico dot com or call seven auto. The only
hard part figuring out which way is easier taking your
calls eight seven seven six nine. Let's go to Eddie
in San Francisco. What's up, Eddie? Yeah, good morning, Claire.
How are you? I'm excellent. I do want it to
get your opinion on the Eminem b T Cipher, Uh,

(01:06:26):
the the the Emmy Eminem going after Donald Trump. Look.
I like Eminem. He's a good rapper. I watched that rap.
I didn't think it was that intelligent of a rap performance.
I just really didn't, And I'm not surprised. I don't.
I was talking about like people telling everybody to have
to choose sides. Eminem said, you have to choose sides.
You have to hate Donald Trump or you have you

(01:06:48):
you can either love me or hate Donald Trump. Basically,
if you like Donald Trump, you can't be an Eminem fan.
And I'm like, why would you say that? Why could
somebody not like Donald Trump and be an Eminem fan?
I don't understand end this demand. I mean, I mean, honestly,
I don't understand this demand that everybody be on one
side or the other. You know. I had this discussion

(01:07:08):
with the guy from Politico. Remember we talked about this,
uh when he was doing his profile. I mean he
talked to Jason Martin, he talked to my wife. I mean,
they wrote like five thousand words on me a couple
of weeks ago. And and he was talking to me,
and he said, what do you think about Don't you
think you have to pick a side? So what do
you mean? He said, are you worried about being on
the wrong side of history? And I'm a history guy,

(01:07:31):
so I've studied history throughout my life. I was a
history major in college George Washington in d C. And
if you study history, what you learn is very frequently
we don't know which side of history is the right
side of history for fifty or a hundred years. It's
not very often that we have a World War two
kind of situation where we get to go to war
with Nazis. We're like, you know what, the Nazis, I

(01:07:53):
think are pretty bad, pretty bad dudes. And you know
within a few years or you know immediately that the
Nazis are on the wrong side of history. But that's
something where by the end of World War Two, we
were like, we felt very confident that we were on
the right side of history the Nazis, where we were good,
the Nazis were evil. There aren't that many good and
evil dichotomies that are created now. And what I have

(01:08:16):
said about Donald Trump from the get go is I
don't understand why he's so controversial when you really break
down what he stands for. I didn't vote for Donald Trump.
I voted for Gary Johnson. I've actually never voted for
a Republican. But the guys like, well, we aren't you
worried about being on the wrong side of the history.
I'm like, this side of history is pretty good right now.
Donald Trump has been president for what ten months? The
stock market is at an all time high, Unemployment is

(01:08:39):
basically at an all time low. The average per capita
income for households in America has never been higher adjusted
for inflation, in the history of this country. Look, I mean,
George W. Bush took us to war in Iraq and
cost US trillions of dollars. I disagreed with that decision.
I think it was a bad one. I don't know
what you can really point to that Donald Trump has

(01:09:01):
done and be like the country is awful because of
Donald Trump. What does he do? I I don't get it.
I mean, I understand he tweets things that people get
upset about, and I understand that he doesn't behave in
a quote unquote presidential fashion. But that is to me,
uh one thing to criticize him on. But the actual
results of his presidency have been pretty outstanding. The stock

(01:09:24):
market has surged. If he can get tax reform done,
By the way, our tax code is totally broken. I'm
just now filing my tax code for I it drives
me insane. I'm a fairly intelligent guy. I'm not intelligent
enough to file my tax return. If I can't do it,
that means the vast majority of Americans are not able
to do it either. So the idea that we could

(01:09:46):
get tax reform, I'm totally in favor of it. We
have a broken tax system in this country, and so
if he could reform taxes, and by the way, if
he could get rid of that crazy lunatic dictator in
North Korea, that would be pretty good. You know. I mean,
I think I'm a look at results. You know, I
always say this right. I'm not a words guy. I'm
an actions guy. Everybody in this modern era wants to

(01:10:08):
get all triggered by words. Oh somebody said something mean.
Oh I can't believe that somebody said something mean. I'm like,
shut up, I care what people do. I don't care
what people say. And when you actually look at what
Donald Trump does, what has he done that's disastrous to
the country. What has he done that has got everybody
so triggered that they're convinced he's an awful human being.

(01:10:29):
And that Politico's out here telling me, Oh, you gotta
make sure you're on the right side of history. I
I just don't get it. I understand that people right
now in social media, everybody's angry all the time, and
everybody's got to feel like they have to take a side,
and everybody's got to feel like what their side is
right and the other side is evil. Again, I'm just
a very middle of the road do. One of my

(01:10:50):
buddies said, you make a living off being the most
reasonable person in America. Now. He was talking about how like, uh,
when we were at a wedding recently up in Chicago,
He's like, you're I mean, he knows me, and that's
my political bleefs. Like I'm a totally middle of the
road guy. I'm pro choice, anti death penalty, pro markets, capitalist,
like just right down the middle on most everything. And

(01:11:11):
yet somehow the country has gone so insane that I'm
the last reasonable person in media actually looking at facts,
actually looking at data, instead of just coming on and
throwing things crazily around. See what sticks. So I'm not
an anti Trump guy because I don't think Trump has
done anything that's that bad. He sent some tweets that
people didn't like. Those are words, and it's even they're

(01:11:33):
not even words their tweets, right. I mean, I'm not
the guy who's gonna get riled up and be like, oh,
this is unbelievable. I can't believe somebody tweeted this. You know,
if it's your opinion, throw it out there to market
place of ideas. I'm an actions guy, and I don't
think there are that many actions Donald Trump is taken
that have hurt the country. And again I look at markets,

(01:11:54):
stock market loves Donald Trump. Unemployment rate's never been lower.
Now you can maybe say, well that's not because of
Donald Trump, But I mean, I don't know I mean,
we give the president credit or blame for the economy.
Economy is a huge, massive tanker of everything rolled into one.
And right now the stock market is rolling. I mean really,

(01:12:15):
the stock market was rolling before. It's it's it is
dominated since Donald Trump took office. How long has he
been in office? But like January, I think the stock
markets up like since he was elected president. I think
reached an all time high in like thirty one of
the last fifty five months, fifty six months or something
like that. So well, but a lot of that, keep

(01:12:37):
in mind, was because it had also come out of
the all time low I'm talking about in the last
eight months. The stock market has consistently everybody said, I
mean remember when Donald Trump got elected, everybody was like,
oh my god, the stock market is gonna tank. And
then what happened. People said, you know what, Donald Trump
is gonna be a pro business president, and the stock
market has exploded in a positive direction since he has

(01:12:59):
been elected. I think it's fair to say the stock
market has done a lot better under Donald Trump than
it would have under Hillary Clinton. That's my opinion. And
so I'm a markets guy. I look at what people
who are a lot smarter than me who sit around
and make trades all day long. I'm a capitalist. Those
people are all saying Donald Trump is pretty good for
the country in terms of his economic policies, And again,

(01:13:22):
what has he done that's a disaster? Justin what has
he done that has made the country awful? I think
that it's that he has been divisive. Okay, divisive is,
but those are just words. Everything in America today is divisive. Back,
I voted for stop. I voted for Barack Obama twice.
Half the country hated Barack Obama. Half the country hated

(01:13:43):
George W. Bush. This idea that we're gonna elect a
president right now who's not going to be divisive is
a fundamental flaw of everyone out there. But you don't
think we're not gonna have a Ronald Reagan situation. I
would love for it to happen. We're not gonna have
a Ronald Reagan situation where like six people like the president.
We're in a fifty fifty country. It doesn't matter what

(01:14:05):
the Republican says. If you're a Democrat, you decide that
you hate them. It doesn't matter what the Democrats says.
If you're a Republican you decide that you hate them,
and so it does, it doesn't. I mean, in all honesty,
there is nothing that Donald Trump could have done to
come into office. People had already decided they hated him,
and by the way, the same thing was going to
be true of Hillary Clinton. There was nothing Hillary Clinton

(01:14:26):
could have done when she came into office. Look, we
nominated in the two most disliked people to ever run
for president in the history of the country. That's not
that that is in the entire history of this country.
There had never been major political nominee party nominees who
had been more disliked than Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

(01:14:47):
There was literally nothing that either of them were going
to do, no matter who got elected, that they were
going to come into office. If Hillary Clinton was elected,
people would hate her who were on the Republican side.
And once Donald Trump got elected, there was nothing that
he could do that Democrats are not gonna hate him.
It's a fifty fifty country. We could have George Washington
elected right now. Abraham Lincoln could come back to life. Uh,

(01:15:08):
the best presidents we've ever had, Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman,
whoever you want to put in the office, Ronald Reagan,
who everybody at the time that they were in office
were pretty popular. They would be insanely divisive. It doesn't matter.
That's the way the country is. Eight seven seven six nine.
Final segment of the show. Our two coming up next,
then we're going into our three. We'll talk with Casey Smith.

(01:15:29):
Question I've got for you guys to who would you
buy stock in right now if you could? Of those
quarterbacks who are in their second year. Jared Goff has
looked great with the Rams this year. Carson Wentz has
been fantastic with the Eagles. Dak Prescott the Cowboys haven't
looked very good. A lot of that blame go to
Dak Maybe is that fair? Which of those three quarterbacks

(01:15:49):
would you take? I'll also go back to your calls
eight seven seven six three six nine. I'm Clay Travis.
This is out kick the coverage. What does it mean
when Geico says just fifteen minutes could save you fifteen
percent or more on car insurance? It means you probably
should have gone to Geico dot com fifteen minutes ago.

(01:16:10):
I feel like Carson Wentz has been a little bit
under the radar. I feel like because last year, what
did the Eagles start like three and one, and everybody
came out and they were talking about Winsylvania or was
it two in one, I don't remember exactly, but everybody
was singing Carson Wentz his praises. And then the Eagles
where they finish eight and eight, seven and nine, six
and ten. I don't even remember what they finished, but

(01:16:31):
they obviously faded from that point forward. And from that
point on, Dak Prescott and the Cowboys became such a
big story that nobody really talked about Carson Wentz. I mean,
I'm sure you talked about him in the Philadelphia area,
and if you were an Eagles fan, you were paying
attention to him. But the amount of attention raining down
upon Dak Prescott dwarfed everything else, and Jared Goff got

(01:16:53):
nothing but man, he's a total bum. But now, if
you had to draft at this exact moment, that draft
class back all over again. I think it's fair to
say that the first three picks in the twenty draft
would all be quarterbacks. What order would you draft them in?
Right now? If you were a GM and you were

(01:17:15):
in the NFL and you had Dak Prescott, Jared Goff
and Carson Wentz all on the board. Which guy do
you take first? I mean, I think that's a really
tough call. Now, last year it would have been, Oh ever,
every single person listening would have been like, oh, you
take Dak Prescott. This year, has that changed? I think

(01:17:37):
it might have. Do you have to take Carson Wentz?
And are there people out there with the way that
Jared Goff has played? What do the math? What does
the math look like this year? I'm betting Golf might
be the best of those three this year, now that
he's finally getting to play in Sean mcveigh's offense. I
think you can make a pretty strong argument for all
three of those guys. Now. I think all three of

(01:17:58):
them have the potential to be good quarterbacks, and certainly
the NFL needs as many good young quarterbacks as it
can fined. To have three really good guys come out
of the same draft class is rare, especially to have
two top draft picks like Jared Goff and Carson Wentz
both pan out. Now, it still looks like Marcus Mariota

(01:18:18):
and Jamis Winston from the draft are both gonna be
pretty good too, if especially at least if Mariota can
stay healthy, we'll see whether or not he's gonna play
Monday night against the Colts and come back from the
hamstring injury. But I think those guys fair to say
those guys are not going to be complete bust. Who
would you take right now as the number one pick

(01:18:39):
of those three? Goff Wins and obviously Dak Prescott last year,
everybody says Dak. I think I might go Carson Wins now.
And here's why I would go Carson Wentz. I think
he's more of a prototypical pocket passer and so far,
so far, mobile quarterbacks not shown good durability in the NFL.

(01:19:03):
I want a guy who's going to stand in the
pocket and just be able to throw the football and
make the reads that he needs to. And Wentz is
a big, strong, tough guy, almost Roethlisburger esque in his
ability to stand in the pocket and absorb punishment when necessary.
I think it's really hard to pick over Doc, but
I think I might go Wentz. And by the way,

(01:19:25):
it wouldn't shock me if Jared Goff ended up being
the best of the three. Let's go around the horn quickly.
Who you got Jason Martin. I've got Carson Wentz thirteen
touchdowns to three interceptions this year, Doc is eleven tds
to four interceptions Goff seven and three. Also, in terms
of a quarterback grading, Carson Wentz just a little bit
higher at ninety nine point six. You talk about what

(01:19:45):
he's able to do in the pocket. He can run,
He's actually pretty athletic. On top of that, I'm just
really impressed. I'm impressed with his physicality. I think all
three of them have a chance to be very good,
but Carson Wentz really to me last night. He finally
stood out in a way where I might take him
over all these young second third year quarterbacks in this league.
Right now, I'm really impressed with him. What about you,

(01:20:07):
guys in l A during the off season, I would
have said Dak Prescott. Every single person listening would have
said Dak all last year and the off season. But
now we're in the next weeks of of evidence of
him in year two, definitely would say wins. Now you
would go Wins. What about you justin? You would go
with Barack Obama. I would have your cat. I would
have to agree with you, guys. I'd go with Carson

(01:20:29):
wins uh so unanimous across the board, everybody takes wins.
Final hour of the show. Coming up next, I'll set
the table for you, tell you why everything is not
perfect or is perfect. I'll find o on out Kick
the coverage live from the Geico Outkicks Studios. Great news.
Quick way you could save money switched to Geico. Go
to Geico dot com and in fifteen minutes you could

(01:20:50):
say fifteen percent or more on car insurance as well
during last Battery's designed to stand up to even the
most extreme weather conditions. They're built with patented technology to
reduce damage due to vibration to deliver the most power
during startup. They've proven tough and sold only at Auto Zone.
Get in the Zone Auto Zone as the West Coast
wakes up. Great night in the NFL and in Major

(01:21:12):
League Baseball, unless for sure, you are a Washington, d C.
Area sports fan, where the Washington Nationals became the third
team in a row in d C to be eliminated
in a deciding game. This one a Game five. The
Cubs get it done nine eight in Game five. This
follows the Caps losing a Game seven, and of course,

(01:21:34):
the Washington Wizards, also losing a game seven. This continues
the reign of Washington, d c As the saddest big
sports town in America. All four teams that has now
been nearly a generation since they won a conference title
or even advanced to a conference title series, and as
a result, the Chicago Cubs are headed to l A

(01:21:57):
to play the Dodgers. We bring in our resident baseball
expert before we get to the NFL results to talk
about the Eagles, Danny G. How confident are you that
the Dodgers can advance to their first World Series since well,
the Dodgers played very well against the Cubs this past
regular season. I know it's a different beast in the

(01:22:17):
playoffs and anything could happen. But here's the numbers. Dodgers
versus the Cubs in four wins to two for the Dodgers,
run differential plus eleven for the Dodgers UM. The Dodgers
scored four runs a game to the Cubs one point
five e r a Dodgers one point seven oh against

(01:22:37):
the Cubs. The Cubs are a against the Dodgers A
four and the Dodgers cut shut out the Cubs four
times during the regular season, so It looks better on
paper this season, Clay, than it did last year. It
seemed like last year the Cubs were definitely the team
of destiny and everything was on Chicago side last season.
This year it feels like those Cinderella slippers on the

(01:23:00):
Dodgers feet. So hopefully it stays like that and everyone,
you know, a lot of the quote unquote experts were
picking the Diamondbacks because they felt like they had momentum
at the end of the season, but the Dodgers proved
that this was still their year even with that, you know,
semi skid towards the end of the regular season. And
we'll see what happens with Kershaw starting on Saturday, and

(01:23:22):
you know what happened with the Cubs. They used a
lot of their starters in bullpen, so they're gonna be
scrambling a little bit with their starting pitcher, who they
haven't announced yet, but it's not obviously not gonna be
there one, two or three, So they're gonna have to
dig deep on Saturday to face the Dodgers best. The
Dodgers are gonna be massive favorites. I don't know if
those numbers have come out yet for Saturday's game, but

(01:23:44):
with Clayton Kershaw starting, it'll be a five o'clock Pacific
opening pitch there, and so a lot of people to
to look forward to that in the l A area. Also,
Major League Baseball in general has to be ecstatic because
they got the four largest cities in America into their
n LCS and a l c S. You've got Houston,
which is the fourth largest city in America, going up

(01:24:05):
against the New York City, which is the largest. You've
got l a second largest city in America going up
against Chicago, which is the third largest. One verses four,
two versus three. Gonna be a lot of people paying
attention across the country to what happens in those two series.
And last night Thursday Night Football for the NFL, a
game that really doesn't seem like an afterthought, which is

(01:24:26):
a rarity. On Thursday Night, got a great game between
the Eagles who were four and one coming in and
the Panthers who were four and one, and Carson Wentz
and the Eagles emerged victorious. Now five and one, and
you just heard us on this show going around the horn.
Everybody right now, given a choice between Carson Wentz, Jared Goffer,

(01:24:47):
Dak Prescott takes Carson Wentz on this show. Last year,
if we had pulled, every single person would have taken
Dak Prescott. Now, I don't think that's necessarily a sign
that everybody is getting getting too fired up about Parson Wins.
I think you're just getting more data points, and as
those data points come out, the Eagles and Carson Wins

(01:25:07):
have been the best team and quarterback combination of those
three so far this year. Dak Prescott has still been
pretty good, but the rub is off the rows, so
to speak. For Dak Prescott, I think teams are starting
to figure out what he can do. Will see. Now.
The other big news that the Fifth Circuit has allowed
the suspension of Ezekiel Elliott to begin. I told you

(01:25:29):
that the Fifth Circuit. Now it's partly a procedural decision,
but I told you the Fifth Circuit was conservative and
that I believed it was likely that the judges on
that circuit would end up giving Roger Goodell the authority
to suspend Ezekiel Elliott. And that's exactly what's happened. I
think Ezekiel Elliott's gonna have to eventually serve this six

(01:25:50):
game suspension. So the bye week counts as one of
the weeks of his suspension, So in theory, you might
as well go ahead and serve that one if you're
Ezekiel Elliott and get credit for that counting without having
to miss a game. Then you're down to five and uh. Now,
the the challenge here is he may want to go
ahead and file something on Friday to try to avoid

(01:26:10):
that suspension ever starting. But I'm curious to see what
exactly he ends up doing and what he and his
lawyers decided to do. But I think it's another sign
that there's gonna be a lot more on deck Prescott's shoulders.
Assuming that Ezekiel Elliott is out for the next five
Cowboy games, and given the fact that the Cowboys are
currently sitting at two and three, it's hard to believe

(01:26:30):
that they're gonna be very competitive, at least in the
NFC East. Now that the Eagles have opened up a
really substantial lead at five and one in that division
over the two and three Cowboys. The Redskins are still
in decent shape a little bit, and we'll see how
everything else shakes out in the NFC East, But a

(01:26:51):
really good Thursday night game for the NFL. The continued
fallout of the NFL from a protesting perspective prior to
Kick the News came out. Ratings wise, ratings in the
NFL are now down since before Colin Kaepernick started his protest.
That has got everybody in the NFL trying to figure

(01:27:12):
out what in the world they can do to bring
back sanity to the NFL and get back to just football.
My Travis compromise that I floated just allow guys who
don't want to come out for the national anthem to
stay in the locker room. Everybody who comes out for
the national anthem has to stand. It's the same rule
that exists in the NFL. I mean, sorry, in the NBA,

(01:27:34):
and nobody is criticizing the NBA right now. I don't
know why that wouldn't be a decent compromise to get
politics out of football, get back to just playing the game.
I gave you this data. I couldn't believe it. New
York Times looked at the most polarizing companies in America
right now, and the most polarizing company in America, which

(01:27:54):
is not a news organization and not owned by Donald
Rump is the NFL. That is very bad for business.
It makes no sense to have that happening. And so
as a result, if I were involved in advising the NFL,
I would sit down with the players like Jerry Jones did,
and I would say, look, guys were ultimately partners in

(01:28:15):
this business. You guys make the money that you do
because of our fans. And right now, our fans are
tuning out and they are not going to watch these games.
And if ratings go down eventually as we get ready
for the new C B A, this is gonna come back,
and this is gonna bite you. This is gonna hurt

(01:28:36):
you in the end too, because we're ultimately partners. Remember,
this is also happening at the same time that people
are abandoning cable and UH and and satellite subscriptions in
record numbers. If you paid attention to the stock market
yesterday at all, all of these companies tanked after a
T and T. Who's gonna theoretically owned Direct TV after

(01:29:00):
A T and T said that it was gonna lose
three hundred and ninety thousand satellite and cable customers, and
that same morning has been given by Comcast. Millions of
you out there are cutting the Cord and you are
abandoning your monthly cable subscription, which many of you have
had for twenty years or more. And as a result,

(01:29:22):
as a result, these leagues are coming under pressure right
at the time when it's rating season, when all these
companies are gonna have to decide how much money they're
gonna spend on these uh television contracts going forward. And
I think the NFL, if they're smart, they sit down
with their players, they say, look, we're partners players. You

(01:29:42):
need to think like owners, not like employees. Ultimately, instead
of going out like Delaney Walker did and say, hey,
if people don't want to show up because we're protesting,
that's fine, that's a bad response. You don't want to
alienate half of your audience, or more than half of
your audience. When you consider that football fans are more
likely to be conservative than they are to be liberal.

(01:30:04):
You don't want to alienate your base. And I think
that's a little bit what's been happening ever since Colin
Kaepernick started his protests. So my solution would be, let
guys come out for the national anthem. If they do that,
they have to stand, no kneeling. You'd be suspended if
you kneel and if you don't want to come out
for the national anthem, you can stay in the locker room.
That's your choice. But those are the options. Now, would

(01:30:25):
players actually take it to the next level and be
willing to risk their incomes? I've only seen one player
so far say anything like what Richard Matthews did, which
would was say that he would actually not play in
the NFL. He would leave football if somebody told him
he had to stand for the national anthem. I think

(01:30:46):
that's crazy. But Richard Matthews, who was formerly a wide
receiver for the Miami Dolphins now wide receiver for the
Tennessee Titans, now gone on the record, although he deleted
the tweet as saying, if I have to stand for
the national anthem, I'll quit playing football. Now, I tend
to think this is just hyperbole. Just like all those
celebrities who said they were gonna move to Canada if
Donald Trump got elected president, have any of them actually

(01:31:07):
moved to Canada? Jason Martin, am I correct that no
celebrities have actually moved to Canada since Donald Trump got elected. No,
there were obviously many that came out and said that
that was what was going to happen, and to my knowledge,
none of them actually followed through on that threat. Yeah,
so a lot of people all about, oh, I'm gonna
move to Canada if Donald Trump gets elected. Donald Trump
gets elected and nobody moves to Canada. I think that's

(01:31:29):
honestly what would happen with Richard Matthews too, and any
other player who said, oh, I'd quit football if I
had to stand for the national anthem. I bet you wouldn't.
I bet you wouldn't give up your five million dollar
contract to go make what sixty dollars a year somewhere else.
I doubt. I find it very doubtful that that would
actually happen for anybody. Maybe they would, and credit to
them if they are willing to be that that committed

(01:31:51):
to their their political beliefs, that they would give up
millions of dollars. But I doubt very seriously that that
would happen. In fact, I think there would be no
player that would actually change at all his opinion, uh
if he were suddenly made to stand for the national anthem.

(01:34:42):
How are you? I'm great. It's about forty degrees in
Boston and I'm already preparing for the end of my life.
I have no idea how I'm going to survival Winter Clans.
Very nervous about this. Southern girl goes far northeast and
uh and now, UK, you got up there? What in
like March for your show? Tell people where they can
watch your show, by the way, NBC Sports for NBC
Sports Boston and all over the country. And it's nine

(01:35:04):
to midnight Eastern, and we get to argue sports and
yell at each other, which is fun. But like I said,
if this continues to get colder, which I know that
it will, I might not be a part of it.
So you might want to tune in now the more
I just completely given to the winter here because forty
degrees and I'm already nervous. So here we go. So
the Patriots right now, we're sitting at three and two.
You've also got the Celtics starting their new season. The

(01:35:26):
Red Sox have now been eliminated from the playoffs. What's
the vibe in Boston right now? How much attention are
you guys paying to the NFL versus the start of
the NBA season. The NFL is all the headlines right now,
just because this is the Patriots town. I mean, obviously,
if you have Celtics fans that are die hard basketball fans,
Bruins and Red Sox that only care about that sport,

(01:35:48):
then they're not necessarily paying attention to it. But in general,
the Patriots are going to run these headlines. But John
Farrell got fired from the Red Sox earlier this week,
so that's the big story. And then Kyrie Irving does
bring a lot more attention into the Celtics, But at
the end of the day, everybody wants to know about
Tom Brady and if they're going to even make it
a game against the New York Jets, who we thought
we were all going to go oh in sixteen this season.

(01:36:10):
So no matter what football rules are roost but Kyrie
is pretty exciting as well around here. The reaction in
New England if, okay, the Patriots are on the road
against the Jets, everybody, like you said, expected that the
Jets might go oh in sixteen, and that, to be fair,
the Patriots might have a chance at going undefeated. So
the Patriots are on the road against the Jets. If

(01:36:31):
by some form or fashion, the Jets found a way
to beat the Patriots, then the Jets would be in
first place in the a f C East, and I
believe the Patriots would potentially nearly be in last place.
I mean, which is an unbelievable situation. What is the
reaction in Boston on Monday morning if the Patriots lose

(01:36:51):
to the Jets, Oh, the sky would be falling. I mean,
there's no question, because you know, not even just the
fact that the Jets were you know, potentially gonna go
oh in six team to go out and get the
number one quarterback in the draft. But the fact is,
even though they've won three games, they've all been against
pretty garbage teams, and no matter what, you still have
Tom Brady. So if Tom Brady loses a game where

(01:37:12):
Josh McCown is the quarterback, I mean, I just can't
imagine that being anything people could stomach. But at the
end of the day, this Patriots team is not what
a lot of people thought they were gonna be. Now,
I was never on board with the nineteen and o talk.
I thought that they would at least win twelve or
thirteen games. If they lose to the Jets, they're in
jeopardy of not winning anywhere near what Vegas thought they
would win at twelve and a half. So I don't

(01:37:34):
think that's going to happen. I think that not only
they're gonna win, I think they'll cover. I believe the
spreads at ten right now. But if for some reason
it stays close and they do lose, that, I can
imagine a lot of Patriots fans will be very unhappy.
Come Monday, your Aggies go on the road against Florida.
There's now six games left in the year. A and
M actually acquitted themselves pretty well against Alabama, given the

(01:37:57):
fact that Alabama is kind of on a different level
this year, or it seems in college football than everybody else.
But now these six games down the stretch, you get
to play a lot of winnable games. Kevin Someone is
officially on the hot seat for sure. What do you
expect in A and M Florida. Well, first of all,
I completely have to eat crow because I thought that
that A and M Alabama game was gonna be really ugly,

(01:38:19):
and I was pleasantly surprised. I mean, I'm not a
moral victory kind of person. But at the end of
the day, they looked pretty decent against Alabama, and you're right,
I think that they're by far the best team in
college football. So I think that really cooled off Kevin
Someone's seat. Now they continue to lose down the stretch,
I don't think it's going to matter. But when you
look at this Florida team, I mean, they were supposed
to be really good going into this season. They haven't
really panned out. It is. On the road, they're wearing

(01:38:41):
god awful uniforms. Those Nike Gator uniforms are terrible, so
just that alone, they deserve to get their asses beat.
But at the same time, I think Kevin someone did
a really good job of saying, Okay, look like the
U c l A game was not great, but let
this team finish off the season with the freshman quarterback
and see what happens. I think A and M will
get the win. I don't think that it's gonna be
some dominant game, but I think it'll be a good

(01:39:03):
SEC game in a good way for and them to
prove that they're not as bad as they looked in
Week one. Sticking in the state of Texas, you also
happened to be a Cowboys fan and the Cowboys got
a brutal beat down from Aaron Rodgers one of the
best two minute drills I've seen in a long time.
Not so much about the Cowboys as it was about
how good Aaron Rodgers is. Having said that, what are

(01:39:24):
the Cowboys go from now? Sitting at two and three,
are you afraid not just of a season that's not
up to expectations, but honestly a season where you might
not even have a shot to make the playoffs. Yeah,
there's no question I mean, and it's been one hell
of a week in Dallas. Off the field, You've got
the Jerry Jones protest stuff, and then now the Ezekiel
Elliott quarter appeals going back to where he might be

(01:39:46):
not playing for the next six weeks. But the argument
that I could make is that if he would have
just served the suspension before the beginning of the season,
the Cowboys probably wouldn't have a worst record, and that's
definitely not where anybody thought they'd be sitting. So it's
gonna be interesting to see how this team rebounds with
or without Ezekiel Elliott. Now, obviously, if he would have
just been okay serving that suspension, it would have been

(01:40:07):
some sort of an admission of guilt. But I still
just think that where this team is right now is
not only where I didn't think they would be, But
I don't know if they have the answers now Aaron
Rodgers and Aaron Rodgers, and if I had to pick
any quarterback to lead a two minute drill at the
end of the game, more than likely it's going to
be Aaron Rodgers, even over Tom Brady. But this Cowboys
team just doesn't look like they were supposed to and

(01:40:27):
you're right. I mean they could be in jeopardy of
not making the playoffs, especially if Ezekiel Ellett can't play.
So I'm a little bit nervous. Um. I think Zeke
will end up playing somehow, some way. I think that
it will work out, but definitely not the Cowboys team.
And Dak Prescott I thought we'd be seeing in two
thousand and seventeen, would you We asked everybody on the
show if you had to pick right now between Dak Prescott,

(01:40:48):
Carson Wentz, and Jared Goff, all three guys that were
top quarterbacks in year one. Now in year two, Jared
Goff looks a lot better, Carson Wentz's Eagles are now
five and one, looked very good in the NFC East,
And Dak Prescott has been okay but not necessarily transcendent
for the two and three Cowboys. Which of those three

(01:41:08):
guys would you most want to have as your quarterback
for the next decade? For right now would be Carson Wentz,
like through the first six weeks of the season, absolutely,
which I never thought that I would say. I thought
it would be easily Dack. But I mean even Jared
Goffe took a step and you could make an argument
that you might want him instead of Jack. I mean
it's all very close. But Carson Wentz for sure right now.
I mean everybody agreed on that as well. All Right,

(01:41:30):
so outside of sports for a minute, you I think
went to can and worked kind of in Hollywood a
little bit before you ended up doing what you do. Now,
this Harvey wine Sein story, is this the most insane
story you've ever seen in Hollywood? Like as you read
all the details of what he did and what he
got away with, and maybe the craziest thing I saw

(01:41:51):
CMZ report that his contract actually allowed him to sexually
harass as long as he settled all the claims himself
and wasn't charged with a crime. Have you ever seen
anything like this? No, this is insane. And when I
saw you tweet the contract details, like I had to
go read that story multiple times, like this is a
real thing that somebody thought that they were going to
get away with, Like it's just absolutely mind blowing. And

(01:42:13):
even when I went to the Film Festival, and that
was in two thousand and twelve, like it was like,
you know, Harvey Weinstein was like just you know, he
was all powerful. I mean, you could watch Entourage alone
and those Harvey Weinstein. You know, it's it's a massive,
powerful icon in Hollywood, So you know that there are
certain things that go on out there that potentially you
know that like in the real world, like what everybody's

(01:42:34):
sleeping with each other to get jobs, Like that's bizarre
to see something like this, heinous and just this discussing
go on for so many decades. I just don't understand
how somebody didn't blow the whistle years ago, how somebody
didn't come out and say, hold on, wait a minute,
Like I understand that l A and Hollywood have different
standards when it comes to sexuality and morality, but this

(01:42:54):
is just absolutely wrong, and so now you're seeing all
that come out. I just don't understand how it happens.
I don't understand how people turn a blind eye to it.
And it's just awful for all the women that had
to deal with it and men potentially throughout all these
years it's just discussing. So now obviously that's a serious story.
You know me that I like to solve problems. I
don't like to create stirs, not a look at me

(01:43:17):
kind of guy. Yes, So I floated what I'm what
I'm you know, I guess I would say like humbly
calling the Travis compromise here, and I said that this
NFL protest thing has been going on for way too long,
and I'm going to try to solve it all right,
So the NFL ratings are down. The NFL is now

(01:43:37):
one of the most polarizing brands in America, according to
a recent New York Times survey, What do you think
about this solution? And you may have seen I put
up a poll. Twenty thousand people voted in it. I said, look,
let's just have everybody who comes out for the national
anthem has to stand for the national anthem. Right that
just like the NBA rule the NFL, that's the rule.

(01:43:59):
But if you don't want to come out onto the field,
you can stay in the locker room and come out
after the national anthem is over. Doesn't that kind of
solve almost all the issues? Yeah? I think that it does.
I mean, you look at you know, I mentioned Jerry
Jones and like one of the things first of all,
that he said that everybody has to stand or they're
not going to play. I think that that's just a
load of crap. Anyways, because I think if Dak Prescott

(01:44:21):
decided that he didn't want to stand, there's no way
he's not playing in a game, so that that would
really be unbelievable. By the way, if Dak and Dac
took a knee and suddenly the Cowboys didn't play him,
I bet what Jerry Jones would say is, well, it's
too And and by the way, nobody even asked the question,
how does he get down the info that he's not
going to start right he's up in the owner's box.

(01:44:42):
Does he have the ability to just pick up a
phone and get onto the coaches headset and say Doc
isn't playing. I would be curious how he would convey
that information to his coaching staff, because I imagine it's
not as if like the coaching staff is walking along
with a checklist making sure everybody is standing up for
the national anthem, like they're worried about a lot of

(01:45:03):
other things in the final minutes before game starts, or yeah,
they should be. But the problem is right now is
that this anthem thing has not only like completely taken
away from the cause that a lot of these players
were protesting from in the first place, that this is
like the only thing people are paying attention to, and
I just you know, Jerry Jones is probably trying to believe, Okay,
there's no way any of my players are going to
go against me. But what would happen if Dak Prescott

(01:45:25):
or Dez Bryant or if Ezekiel Elliott can play. What
if one of those guys just decided, you know what,
I don't think that I'm going to stand up today.
There's no way Clay that he would bench those guys
like Jerry Jones loves to win too much, so and
said that, Yeah, that's why I don't set ultimatums very often,
because as soon as you go on the record and
say something like that, then one it encourages someone to

(01:45:47):
actually defy you, and then it requires you to be
willing to actually follow through on what you said. And
if you don't do it, everybody else out there notifies
it and sees it or notices it and sees it,
and it basically undercuts everything you say from that point
going forward. Yeah, he's basically asking for somebody to call
his bluff. So as far as the Travis Compromise ghost,

(01:46:08):
which I think is a phenomenal name, it really does
fix at its thing, like, if you decide to come out,
you do need to stand to kind of just you know,
take away all the polarizing viewpoints of it. But if
you don't want to and you want to protest and
not come out for the anthem and the flag at all,
then you have that right. And Robert Kraft kind of
said not those exact things, but he said, look, the
players can do what they want to do, but we're

(01:46:30):
all about unity. At the end of the day, these
guys want to make money, whether they're Trump supporters, whether
they believe you should stand up for the national anthem
or not. If they're losing money, they're gonna try to
find a way to handle this. I think Jerry Jones
thought that in the back of his head and then
just went about it completely the wrong way because it's
just not good for an ultimatum, even though he has
that right. But yeah, if you don't want to come
out of the national anthem, stay in, do your protests,

(01:46:52):
have your social media platform. But if you're gonna come out,
just stand up so you can play the game of football.
And at the end of the day, like I said,
it's kind of bad astartizing what they're trying to do anyways,
because everybody's just looking at their methodology, not why they're
kneeling or sitting for the national anthem. So if I
was somebody who was trying to protest those things at
this point, I'll be like, look, I'm not even getting
my message across anymore. What's the point of doing this.

(01:47:14):
I need to find a better and more effective, nonpolarizing
way at least to get the message out at the
very beginning of this thing. That's the way I feel
about it. At least I agree. I'm We're talking to
Casey Smith at k A y C. Smith you can
find her on Twitter, and I've been saying something, you know,
kind of similar there too. To me, what Jerry Jones
is trying to do is smart. He's trying to appeal
to the business instincts of the players and say, look,

(01:47:37):
and I think that's where the NFL p A, and
the NFL owners and the league itself are actually all
in this together. Is the ratings dropping for the NFL
and the NFL becoming an insanely political based organization based
on the way that many fans are viewing it. It's
not good for the brand, and all these guys need
to understand that their paycheck ultimately comes through fans getting

(01:48:01):
away from the real world and being able to watch
their game for three hours without having to worry about
all the politics associated with it. So ultimately, I think
on some level that is that is what everybody needs
to to get back to. What else? What are you
going on this weekend? Like how will you spend you
how do you spend your time? Do you when you're
watching games? Are you watching them solo? Are you going

(01:48:21):
to the bar? Like what's the vibe in Boston When
it comes to, for instance, wanting to go out and
watch big college football games on Saturdays? You have to
go find bars that will actually put on big college
football games. Which, again I love Boston. I love being
in a professional sports market that's as crazy as it
is up here. They just don't care about college football
for the most point. So I'm just like, what are

(01:48:41):
we doing here? Like, guys, you're missing a massively entertaining
thing to do. So like I like to drink, admittedly
I love too, and so the fact that I have
Saturdays and Sundays off now being in studio during the week,
I just go out and basically find who will put
the game on for me, who will put this sound
on for me, and who won't cut me off at
the bar. So whoever that ends up being on Saturdays

(01:49:02):
in Boston is where I end up with, usually a
group of guy friends who just say, Okay, I will
watch him football and we'll get drunk with you. So
I'm pretty easy on Saturday. Is no doubt about where
I watched my football games. As long as they'll they'll
appiece all of my checklist outstanding stuff. As always, Casey Smith,
go follower on Twitter, k I S. Smith. Have a
good weekend. Thanks for getting up early with us. All right,

(01:49:22):
let's bring in my guy. Let me see you this
first coming to you live. This is the Geico out
Kick Studios where it's easy to say or more on
car insurance with Geico Geico dot com or call seven Auto.
The only hard part figuring out which way is easier.
Let me bring in my guy. Eddie Garcia gets you
set up. In the world of sports, a lot of
big games last night, Yeah, Clay, We'll start with the

(01:49:43):
postseason baseball game and was that winner take all Game
five in the National League Divisional series, and it was
a wild when the Cubs end up holding off the
Nationals for a nine eight win in d c Now,
Washington jumped out to a four one lead, but Chicago
would score two in the third, four and the fifth,
and then to run each in the sixth and seventh
inning to get the victory. Addison Russell drove in four

(01:50:03):
runs and Wade Davis, the Cubs closer, recorded the final
seven outs to get the save. Washington star pitcher Max Scherzer,
normally a starter, came on and relief. He allowed four
runs ended up taking a loss. Of Chicago advances to
the National League Championship Series. They will face the Dodgers
in l A starting on Saturday. Week six in the
NFL got on their weight Thursday night in Charlotte or
the Eagles beat the Panthers three. Philadelphia quarterback Carson Wentz

(01:50:27):
had three touchdown passes in the win. Carolina quarterback Cam
Newton three interceptions in the lost. Philadelphia is now five
and one and on top of the NFC East. Carolina
drops to four and two. An appeals court ruled in
favor of the NFL, resulting in the preliminary injunction on
Ezekiel Elliott six game band for violating league's personal contic
policy being thrown out, meaning the suspension for the Cowboys

(01:50:47):
star running back is back on effective immediately now. The
Players Association is expected to refile the case in New York,
and the Cowboys are off this week. They have a bye.
They won't play again until October twenty two. Qua. Finally,
let's get you set up for tonight's post season baseball game.
It's the opener of the American League Championship Series in Houston,
as the Astros host the Yankees eight o'clock Eastern time.

(01:51:09):
It's on Fox Sports one. Massa Heiro Tanaka will start
for New York Dallas Kaiko for Houston in the only
postseason meeting ever between the two teams. The Astros beat
the Yankees in a two thousand and fifteen wild card game. Now,
outstanding stuff at ae Garcia. Have a fantastic weekend. We'll
be back on Monday with him for updates inside about
kick the coverage. But first, I'm gonna make you a

(01:51:31):
lot of money. My gambling picks in college football are
going eighteen and get your pen. Pull over to the
side of the road. If you need to. I'm very
confident about these picks, and they start tonight with a
couple of Friday night plays. Eighteen and Oh, I'm giving
you a lot of gifts for me to you to
make everybody rich. Go tell Steve when you're about to
kick him in the balls and make him cry because

(01:51:53):
all the money we're bringing down the Las Vegas casinos
by going eighteen and Oh, I'm Clay Travis is out
get the coverage on Fox Sports Radio Montell Jordan's final
segment of the week. We have almost completed fifteen hours
without being fired, at least for now. I am Clay Travis.

(01:52:14):
This is OutKick the Coverage. I want to tell you
before we roll out for the weekend that on Monday,
get your pencils for this too. We are gonna be
on Serious Channel to eighteen and x M channel two
oh two. All three hours of out Kick will be
back on. You've been asking for it ever since Labor Day.

(01:52:36):
It's resolved. Now all three hours will be on. Out
Kick will be on. Get ready all right? I haven't
been great so far this year on my college football
gambling picks. Previous four years nearly six utally all those
up this year just been right at FT, but that's

(01:52:57):
changing this weekend. I'm going eighteen know, once I can
stop coughing, guess bad Van on the move for Clay
Travis to make us rich, including the legendary, famous, well known,
talk of the town, most celebrated. I'd buy that for

(01:53:18):
a blood bank guaranteed. Alright, boys and girls, it's Friday,
and these are gonna sneak up on you if you
didn't already know. Clemson is playing at Syracuse. I've got
Syracuse and the over. And also, assuming this happens, and
again I want to say we're paying attention to you.

(01:53:39):
We're gonna do something for all the wildfire victims out
in the San Francisco area. Assuming this game happens at Berkeley,
Washington State at col I have got Washington State and
I've got the over. So we're gonna start off four
now on Friday night. That for Friday night, betters Syracuse

(01:54:00):
and the Over, and then I have got Washington State
and the over as well. So double over to Washington
State in Syracuse are the plays. Once we get into
the weekend, Texas Tech on the road at West Virginia.
I've got Texas Tech Texas, Oklahoma the Red River. I
can't even say that's that's a tongue twister, the Red

(01:54:22):
River rivalry, the Red River Shootout. I got Tom Herman
in Texas around an eight point underdog right now, Tom
Herman five and one against the number. As a substantial
underdog in these big games, I don't think Oklahoma is
as good as we thought they were after their big
win on the road against Ohio State, obviously coming off

(01:54:43):
a home loss against Iowa State. As thirty point favorites,
I am on Texas, Ohio State at Nebraska. Nebraska has
not been very good this year, particularly when it comes
to throwing picks sixes, but their defense has been somewhat decent,
although it wasn't great against wiscon toon. Ohio State has
been awesome the last two weeks, just destruction of Rutgers

(01:55:05):
in Maryland. But I think Nebraska keeps it close er
than the twenty four points spread. I am going with Nebraska.
Arkansas at Alabama. Pray for Brett Blumam maybe only a
five point nine million dollar buy out. If that's the case,
he may get fired if they lose really bad in
this game, and I think they will I've got Bama

(01:55:25):
blowing out Arkansas and no hope for the Razorbacks Missouri
at Georgia. I am playing Missouri at Georgia. I am
playing the under fifty seven, and I think Georgia scores
a lot of points covers as well. Perdue A Wisconsin.
I've got the over, and I've got Perdue Texas A
and M at Florida. You just heard us talking with

(01:55:46):
Casey Smith. I have got the Aggies on the road.
I think they win outright at Florida, and I've got
the under. I'm not sold on Florida's ability with Felipe A.
Franks to score against this Texas A and M offense,
I mean defense, and I think the A and M
offense is more reliable, even though Florida is good defensively.
I love the under here and I like A and

(01:56:07):
M to win out right. My blood bank guarantee, my
blood bank guarantee, I will get to in a minute. First,
I think Tennessee bounces back two weeks to get ready
for them. I love the under and the valls to
beat South Carolina. But Shon's is gonna get fired next
weekend after Alabama beats him. A hundred to nothing, my
blood bank guarantee. Here's the money, boys and girls, and

(01:56:29):
I give these out by the way on Sunday. So
sometimes these lines move substantially. I initially got Auburn at
minus four and I love the over at forty four
and a half. In this game, the line is now
up to Auburn around the touchdown favorite and the line
is forty four and a half. My double win today,
double blood bank guarantee. I've got Auburn and the over.

(01:56:52):
There you go. That's eighteen gambling picks on Monday, you
can thank me for making you rich. That's what we
do at out kick every Friday. We give you the
game blink picks. Which game are you most looking forward
to watching this weekend? I'll go around the horn here
as we finish off the show. Again, want to remind
you Serious XM you can download the podcast as millions
of you are doing, search out out Kick on iTunes.

(01:57:13):
Also again Serious channel to eighteen and XM channel two
O two for those of you out there who maybe
don't have great reception on your local affiliates or you're
gonna be driving all over the place. Serious to eighteen
x M two O two starting on Monday. What game
are you most excited to watch this weekend? Jason Martin, Well,

(01:57:34):
for the sake of the voicemails, Tennessee in South Carolina
would be pretty entertaining, I would say, because Clay always
lights up no matter what happens in a Tennessee game,
generally because it's been negative with Butch Jones, so at
least find that pretty dagon entertaining. Oregon Stanford's probably going
to be a sneaky entertaining game, even though I don't
know what it's gonna mean in the grand scheme of things.

(01:57:56):
I think there are several matchups actually this week that
could go either. And I also believe Cal is a
pretty good football team, So this Cale Washington State game
has my attention tonight as well. Yeah, I mean, I'm curious.
There are a lot of interesting games in the NFL
as well. I think, probably for college football, I think
that Tennessee South Carolina game because what much Champ has
had the game cocks on a role in terms of

(01:58:18):
being better than people anticipated. Butch Jones two weeks, he's
under fire, teams falling apart around him. Can they get
a win at home before they go get dominated by Alabama.
I think in the NFL that the game that I'm
most excited to watch, other than Thursday night game, which
we watched last night, This Steelers Chiefs game. What's gonna
happen with Big Ben? I mean, we know the Steelers

(01:58:38):
have a high level of potential success, but I think
of all of the NFL games that are going on,
Steelers Chiefs, to me, is a really fascinating game. What
in the world is going to happen when Big Ben
comes off the five interception performance and goes on the road.
I think that's the best game in the NFL. What
about you guys out in l A. Is the answer.
You're just gonna watch the Dodgers and you don't care

(01:58:58):
about anything else, not at all. It's gonna you had
to choose between watching the Dodgers, but you couldn't watch
a single NFL or college football game all weekend. What
would you do? That's not fair? Would I would have
to go Dodgers? Yeah, because this is hopefully once in
a thirty year thing here going on right now. But
i'man gonna be at the Raiders game in person. Don't

(01:59:21):
know exactly which stadium because of all the fires it's
gonna be at, so hopefully that goes smooth. But so
I'm looking forward to that. But also I want to
see if the Jets can upset the Patriots. That's great
if it actually happens. I just assumed the Patriots are
gonna come out and do what they've done to the
Jets pretty much every week they've played for the last
twenty years, which has beat the crap out of them.
Justin tough choice for you if you had to give

(01:59:43):
up the cat, but it meant that the Dodgers win
the World Series? Is that a trade you would make?
Your cats not being killed, it's not being treated poorly.
You just can never see your cat again. I'm not
a Dodgers fan, so no, I would not take that. Wow,
you don't even care about the city of Los Angeles,
a city of angel Your name is an Angels fan? Remember, Yeah,

(02:00:03):
what's your cat's name? Penny Penny Lane? What for good?
Are you? Are you sure your respect your gadget? Are
you sure you don't like Recall that I said that
I got the cat when I was living with my girlfriend.
That doesn't mean your head or sexual There's lots of
guys who have lived with girls have been gay. No,

(02:00:26):
but you're assuming that because the cat's name is Penny
Out don't and basically the Beatles song. Yeah. I kept
the cat because I'm an adult and I can actually
take care of an animal, unlike my ex. Wow, I
gotta tell you what I think. You have to give
up Penny Lane for the City of Los Angeles to

(02:00:46):
get a world series title. This is a kind of
selfishness I would expect from you. Justin Cooper, I am
Clay Travis. Has been a great week. My thanks for
for Danny g for Justin, for Jason Martin, and for
his cat Penny Lane. Here on out Kick
