Speaker 2 (00:21):
It's a Herd here on Fox Sports Radio. Jonas Knox
in for Colin. You can find this show on the
iHeartRadio app. You can find us on hundreds of affiliates
all across the country. Wherever you are making us a
part of your labor day, we appreciate you doing so. Now.

(00:42):
I am normally on the air during the week Monday
through Friday, six to nine am Eastern Time three to
six am Pacific Time with LeVar Arrington and Brady Quinn.
It's called Two Pros and a Cup of Joe. This
is always a very interesting bizarre world to live in.

(01:02):
Looking around and there's actually daylight out, cars on the road.
You know, not anybody wandering the streets with paraphernalia like
spoons with burnmarks in the bottom and other things around
the mean streets of Sherman Oaks, California. Always a different
world when there's actually a light out and people around

(01:23):
than driving in at two in the morning. Always a
different world. But we are having a good time here
on this Labor Day Monday. A lot of college football
to discuss, and my point on the college football weekend
is it used to be back in the day where
and I never judged these two. I never did. If

(01:45):
Nick Saban or one of these other schools scheduled a
quote unquote cupcake early on, I never complained or never
judged because I could understand why they would take that
approach because with no preseason, with no you got to
get yourself going. So the idea of opening up in
a difficult place on the road is a lot to

(02:06):
ask for. We had a chance. We talked with Kenny
Dillingham a couple of weeks ago and just kind of
asked him like, hey, man, with no preseason game, because
there's a lot of people are like, well, you know
the NFL preseason and we really needed etc. Etc. I said, look,
in college football, you don't get a preseason. That's Kenny
Dillingham like, hey, if you look with no preseason, how

(02:26):
do you feel about the first week of the year,
and he goes it's always the one I worry about
the most because you're just not sure, like you're dealing
with you know, eighteen nineteen, twenty twenty one. Well, now
it's college football with the portal like thirty five year
old kids. It's like now now, I mean that part
of its change. But the point is like, when these
teams do schedule really difficult matchups, I'm never overly judgy

(02:50):
on how that goes. Like Brian Kelly and LSU had
been hearing for a long time about their struggles early on.
I think they had lost five straight openers. Brian Kelly
was zero and three and openers. You remember last year
they opened the season against USC in Vegas and Brian

(03:10):
Kelly opens the year and they lose again, and it's like,
oh man, But ultimately LSU figured it out and they
were making a run late and USC was awful. It's
like things change after the first week. And for Brian
Kelly and LSU to come from Death Valley, go to

(03:30):
Death Valley and win that game the way they did,
that's impressive. But Clemson, it's not going to be a
knock on Clemson Clemson will bounce back and figure it out.
They've got a potential Heisman candidate, and Kate Klubnick like,
they've got an opportunity to make a run win that conference.

(03:52):
They're gonna be fine. Texas Ohio State. I mean, look, yeah,
it's a tough loss for Texas, but Texas will bound.
They're going to bounce back. And Arch Manning struggled. It
doesn't mean he's gonna be He's gonna struggle this much
the entire year. Just maybe he wasn't exactly what everybody
presented him to be, but that wasn't his fault. Whoever's

(04:13):
whoever started that. You got to look back and go, man,
why would we think that a guy coming in on
two starts was going to go into Columbus and just
light up the Buckeyes, who, by the way, just won
a national championship. So, like, you look at these Week
one debuts of these new teams, and you look at

(04:33):
how they're presented, and you look at it and it's
like everybody just relaxed, everybody just slowed down. Things are
going to look a lot different, a right, things are
gonna look a lot different, which is what makes this
debut that much more entertaining because we are going to
get later on tonight the debut of Bill Belichick, the

(04:55):
college football coach, And I can't not wait. I love
this version of Bill Belichick parading around with a parading
around with a rocket ship. They're doing trademarks. He's dressed

(05:16):
up like he's the Vandy Camps mascot. They're doing photo
shoots in Nantucket. I don't know, Kay, you do? You
were there? Okay, thank you, You're welcome. Anything else? Yeah,
we had like an hour answer the question twice. Oh lizen,
I'm not even asking anything. Bill. Let me speak for you, Bill, okay,

(05:38):
because you are now going to be taking part in
the banana land that is college football. And of course
he opens up the year in primetime in a standalone
opportunity like listen, like he'd been many years in the NFL,
and it's going to be Bill Belichick in North Carolina

(05:59):
against TC you. And what's so fascinating about this debut
for Bill Belichick is, don't worry, there's only going to
be one of these, because he's probably gone after this
year back to the NFL. That would be my guess
if I was betting right now, Bill Belichick is coaching

(06:21):
in the NFL next year.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Sorry to do it's the best way of the team.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
If North Carolina wins eight to nine games and he's successful,
Belichick's going to be back because he's got a little
bit of a red ass about the way that he
was portrayed by Robert Kraft and the New England Patriots.
He's multiple times pointed out how things got sideways. How

(06:48):
when Robert Craft says, oh, well, you know, my most
successful risk that I took was joining was hiring Bill Belichick,
who in Belichick was like, no, it was kind of
a risky job that I took. Like He's made it
a point on multiple occasions to point out all the
success that he had there, talked about when they were

(07:10):
successful in New England and how that ties into the
college football atmosphere. When they were successful, there were less
cooks in the kitchen, so to speak, etc. Etc. Like
Belichick has made it a point to let everybody know,
I'm still not over the way that I was represented
after I left. The fact that I wasn't interviewed for
more jobs other than the Falcons was preposterous. The fact

(07:34):
that the Falcons didn't hire me because you had insecure
people in the front office who didn't want to collaborate
with Belichick because of the power that he might have.
Is ridiculous. The fact that nobody else brought him in
for an interview is insane. And so Belichick's like, all right, cool,
I'll go coach college football, and what if he's successful?

(07:58):
Like what if this works? What if this one works?
What if this debut for Belichick works? Like we're talking
about the arch Manning stuff and it's like, oh boy,
what a disappointment. It's like, well, the expectations were a
little bit out of whack. I mean, the Heisman odds,
et cetera, et cetera. I don't think anybody really has
an expectation for Belichick. I think everybody's just really intrigued

(08:21):
by it. It's similar to the Deon Sanders stuff when
he took over Colorado. You could say whatever you want
about Dion's running Colorado and look, they lose the opener,
some clock management issues, you know, some things that you
know looked a little a little bit odd there. But nonetheless,
say whatever you want about Dion Sanders. They didn't win

(08:41):
a conference championship. They have won a national championship. Here's
what I do know. That program he took over was
a diaper fire. Dion took him over a year after
a one win season. They were having rap concerts before games.
He completely changed the program. But I don't think anybody

(09:03):
looked at Dion Sanders in Colorado and we're like, God,
oh boy, this is gonna be this and it's gonna
be that. I think we were just really intrigued. I
was same thing with Belichick. I'm fascinated to see how
this is gonna go. We've never seen it before. He's
the greatest of all time, and he's trying to do
it at the college level. We've never seen him do

(09:24):
this before. But I think this is just part of
the revenge tour. This is the first stop. Eventually, he's
going back to the NFL. If you were asking me
to bet money on which team's gonna hire Belichick next year,
I'm betting on the Dolphins. I'll take Miami. Not I

(09:45):
like Mike McDaniel, But if we were talking earlier about things,
it feels like things are gonna go sideways there in Miami.
If they're gonna make a change, you imagine Belichick going
to Miami going back to that division to see Robert
Kraft tries twice a year. So while this is a
debut for Belichick and I'm fascinated to see what it

(10:07):
looks like, I don't think this is the end of
the road for his coaching career. Like I don't think
he just goes to college and says I'm good here.
Nick Saban may or may not come back. Who knows.
There's some people like I know, we feel like he's
going to come back, and you know, maybe he who
knows a lot of Alabama fans would like him back
in Tuscaloosa. I can't imagine he would go back there

(10:28):
after walking away from the whole thing. Maybe has a
better understanding about But like I think Belichick's going to
be back. I think this is a pit stop. He's
on tour. It's a revenge tour against Robert Kraft. It
starts at North Carolina. But whatever expectations there were for
Arch Manning or any of these other programs going into

(10:49):
this weekend, I don't think anybody has an expectation for
Belichick because I don't think anybody knows what the hell
this is going to look like. It's going to be
odd to see Belichick on the sidel line for North Carolina,
Like the entire story this offseason, Like you didn't hear
anything about the football roster. All you've heard about was

(11:10):
the stuff with his girlfriend. Like all these like deep
dives and investigative YouTube reports and all this stuff. I
don't think anybody has a real idea what this is
going to look like. Mike Lombardi running things behind the scenes,
there Belichick on the sidelines coaching North Caroline. That's what

(11:30):
makes this one more interesting in my mind than any
other debut or presentation we've gotten this weekend, because we're
gonna get to see something we never thought we'd see
and we've never had the opportunity to see before. And
it's Bill Belichick coaching at the college level. And it
all starts tonight, But ultimately I think it ends with

(11:53):
him back in the NFL at the Jonas Knox on
X at Jonas Knox Show on Instagram's where you can
find us, all right, So coming up on the herd,
somebody in the NFL gets a lot of love, gets
celebrated a lot, But if you think about it, there's
not a lot that separates him from one of the
worst in the league. I'll tell you who that is next.

Speaker 4 (12:15):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays

Speaker 2 (12:48):
Listen to The Fifth Hour with Ben.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
Matherer on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you
get your podcast.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
It's heard here on Fox Sports Radio. Jonas Knox and
for Colin coming up in a little over ten minutes
from now. It's kind of a strange thing that happens,
or actually not even half. Its just accepted in the
world of sports, and unfortunately they resulted in an injury,
a bad one. We'll tell you who that is coming

(13:18):
up here A little over ten minutes from now. By
the way, Adam Schefter just sent this tweet out a
couple of moments ago that Packers linebacker Micah Parsons has
been dealing with an L four L five facet joint
sprain in his back and he may take an epidural

(13:38):
injection prior to Sunday's game versus Allons if needed to
help him play, per sources, Before trading Parsons last week,
the Cowboys prescribed him a five day plan of anti
inflammatory cortes whatever it is. Who cares another drug, I'll
be awesome. I'm not going to sit here and try

(13:59):
and read Adam Schefter's copy and paste, you know, epidural,
anti inflammatory medicine stuff. But the point is I was
to help him recover from back tight and they also
had him on a physical therapy program. Parsons has been
practicing this week, and he is trying to play in
Sunday's opener versus Allons. The one source said, it is

(14:20):
still uncertain if you will so that according to Adam Schefter.
So now, if you are a crazy, crazy Dallas Cowboys
fanboy or fangirl, and there are several out there like
they're like, there are a lot of people out there,

(14:41):
people that want to like buy whatever Jerry Jones is selling, Like,
there's a lot. If you're one of the you could
look at that and go Also, that's why they traded him. Oh,
that's why he's damaged goods. Way to go, packers give
up two first round picks, guys, damage goods. I mean,
that's listen, that is one approach to take. That's one

(15:03):
perspective to have. You could look at that as damage
goods fair. That's also absurd. What else is absurd? And
I was making this point earlier that you cannot cure crazy.
At a certain point, you just have to acknowledge it.
If you're in a relationship, if you got a buddy,

(15:25):
if you got to look whatever, if you're around somebody
who's nuts, you can defend them all you want, or
you can just say at a certain point, yeah, you're right,
they're crazy, and Jerry Jones trading Michael Parsons is crazy.
Jerry Jones also spoke with the NFL Network and had

(15:48):
this to say, our player that we got is outstanding.
This on the trade, by the way, our player that
we got is outstanding. We knew that and he'll immediately
start making plays for us when we get up there
against those Philadelphia Eagles. But the most important thing is
we really wanted to stop the run, and Mike's wonderful
football player. We think this gives us a better chance

(16:09):
to stop the run. Other teams knew that, and they
threw the ball out quick and they ran against us
when we had Micah, and they're really emphasizing pass rush. Okay,
all right, so we're gonna double down on the stop
the run stuff. Fair. Adam Schefter's got a report Michael

(16:31):
Parson might need an epidual before he plays in Week
one and he may not play. Okay, got it, got it,
But don't worry. The Cowboys did sign Deron Bland to
a four year extension. Like so, everybody, every just relax.
They know what they're doing. Everybody just calmed down. They
know exactly what they're doing. My favorite is how Brian

(16:53):
Schottenheimer is talking at a press conference. I think on Friday,
it might have been Friday or Saturday, and Brian Schottenheimer
is like, listen, man, the goals haven't changed, Like you know,
nothing has changed. The goals haven't changed. Yeah, just the
chances of those goals have changed. That's you know, that's
one thing like that's you know, and that feels like
it's noteworthy. You know, those the chances of those goals

(17:16):
being reached have changed. And when you see that, you know,
the Cowboys are they signed to Ron Bland. And Jerry
Jones is talking about, you know, we did to bring
this in and we've got all these draft picks now,
and it's like, I wonder if he looks at this,
and I wonder if he's like, you know, we did

(17:36):
the the Herschel Walker trade. You know, my my coach
slash de facto GM made that trade, you know, years ago,
and look at what it resulted in and all these
other picks and these these legendary players that really set
up our franchise. And at some point, somebody's got to
tell Jerry Jones that he's more like Woody Johnson than

(17:57):
Jimmy Johnson because this is nonsensical. Like there's literally nobody
in the NFL who would have done this trade other
than Jerry Jones. Nobody, and Jerry Jones and Brian Schottenheimer

(18:20):
and everybody there in Dallas is like trying to sell
you on the fact that like oh well, we were
all in. It was a unanimous decision. We all agree
that this is the best thing for the football team.
No way, no way. If you ask Matt Eberflus, the
defensive coordinator in Dallas, if you were to asked Matt Ebraflues, hey,

(18:41):
would you rather have Micah Parsons or Kenny Clark going
into the season? What do you think his answer would
have been? And that's us say, Kenny Clark's not a
great player. He is a good player in three Pro Bowls. Like,
he's a good player, but he's older and he plays
a position that is not as valued as pass rusher.

(19:01):
The NFL tells you, like what the most important positions
are in the league based on who gets paid the most.
That's how that works. It's quarterback, wide receivers, pass rushers
like those are like those are the ones. And Dallas
traded away one of the best at his position, and

(19:28):
Dak Prescott was we listened to the sound earlier tied well,
you know, things got personal. Apparently things got personal. Oh yeah,
and so anybody in Dallas trying to come out with
rational explanations on this, like you know, Albert Breer out
of quote that you know, Michael Parsons had an ego. Okay, well,
I guess he's the only person in Dallas that's got

(19:49):
an ego or that was in Dallas that has an ego.
Like it's all bananas, like none of it makes any sense.
And Jerry j Owns is, you know, wants to wheel
and deal and I'm doing and it's like, at a
certain point, he's Woody, He's not Jimmy because he's doing
a lot of the things that dysfunctional teams and dysfunctional

(20:15):
owners have done in the NFL for a long time.
And I was making this point over the weekend. I
was saying, Look, you can go through and talk about
the most dysfunctional organizations in the NFL, the ones that
have like a lot of turnover, and you can go
to Carolina with David Tepper, you could go to Washington

(20:35):
back when Dan Snyder had him. You can go to
the Jets with Woody Johnson. And for the longest time,
the difference between the Cowboys and those other organizations other
than the fact that you know, like a couple of
those have actually been to a conference championship game in
recent memory and Dallas hasn't. But for the longest time.

(20:55):
The only difference between the Cowboys and those other organizations
is that you didn't have an impulsive owner for the
most part, and you actually had a guy who was
loyal to his own. Jerry Jones has always been loyal
to his own. It's why everybody looked at Dak Prescott
and we're like, yeah, he's gonna get paid. Of course
he is. He's gotten paid twice. In fact, they gave

(21:17):
him a monster deal after he broke his leg. Ceedee Lamb, Yeah,
of course they're gonna pay him. Ezekiel Elliott, of course.
But they tried bringing him back, like, of course, he
always rewards his own. He's a really loyal guy. Jason Garrett,

(21:38):
he didn't want to get rid of Jason Garrett. Everybody
thought Mike McCarthy was gone way before Mike McCarthy was
finally left. Like, he's a really loyal guy. And that
was really the difference between him and all those other owners.
Dan Snyder wasn't loyal to anybody there. Turn and Burn.
How many coaches were out the door, Quick Woody Johnson,
same thing, coach GM fed coach GM fire, coach fire,

(22:03):
David Tepper, David Tepper was so uptight during his firing
spree that David Tepper stopped off at a bar on
the way to the draft because they had some sign
with like a like a smart ass slogan about David Tepper, like, hey, David,
don't screw up the draft this time, and he had

(22:25):
to stop in there to go get a word with
the people who put the signage up. Well, the only
differs in Jerry Jones and those other guys is that
Jerry Jones was actually loyal to his players. He was
loyal to his guys. He rewarded his own players, he
rewarded his people, and all that changed when he traded
Michael Parsons, because that was the one that was the

(22:48):
no brainer. You could argue against giving Dak Prescott the
contract if you want. You could argue against Ceedee Lamb
getting the contract, if you want Zeke Elliott. You can
argue against all those guys. The no brainer was Micah Parsons,
and Jerry Jones got into it personally with him, had

(23:11):
an issue with David Wiolagett, his agent, whatever it was,
and all of a sudden he got impulsive instead of
thinking about it in terms of hey, what's going to
make our team better? If I really am all about
this Super Bowl, what's going to make us better? Let's
make that move. Let's leave all the personal stuff out
of it. Let's make that move. He didn't. Instead of

(23:33):
doing what Jimmy Johnson would have done, he did what
Woody Johnson would have done at the Jonas Knocks on
x at Jonas Knox Show on Instagram and you can
hang out with us as always on the iHeartRadio app.
By the way, coming up in a little over fifteen
minutes from now, we are going to tell you about
the hype Train, the hype train that will take center

(23:57):
stage in the world of football and mirror out worse
from now, that'll be yours here again on Fox Sports Radio.
But right now it's time for the news.

Speaker 4 (24:07):
No nod on the news. This is the herd Line News.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
Yeah for that, we turn it over one last time
to the one and only lead to Lac Jonas.

Speaker 5 (24:18):
We're talking a lot about debuts this hour. How about
debuts for new numbers?

Speaker 2 (24:22):
In Green Bay.

Speaker 5 (24:25):
Matthew Golden, rookie wide receiver, has changed his number from
twenty two to zero. He's on the field today and
of course Micah Parsons in his first ever practice this
summer is not Rocking eleven but rocking number one.

Speaker 2 (24:35):
By the way, Leah, you're a big packers, honk. What
do you make about Micah Parsons maybe needing an epidural
before he goes out there.

Speaker 5 (24:43):
It's a little concerning one, Yeah, it's a little concerning.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
Obviously he asked the physical.

Speaker 5 (24:48):
A lot of people thought that this was all smoking mirrors,
that he was basically using that for his hold in.
But yes, I guess it's, you know, for real, the
L four L five in his basket. Joy, I don't
know what that means, but that's what's being put out there,
and it's back. I'm not too worried about it.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
I mean, they could, they would. He would need a
uh if they wanted to give him an epidural with
a javelin because his back was so screwed up. I'd
still take Michael Parsons. I'm good, like no offense to
Kenny Clark, but I'm good. I'll take my chance with
Michael Parsons with his L four L five whatever it
is going into week one that I would with Kenny

(25:24):
Clark no offense.

Speaker 5 (25:27):
Speaking of those number swaps there. Obviously, obviously they're gonna
probably give a refund for anyone who bought him Matthew
Golden jersey number twenty two.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
Right, by the way, how many people you think actually
did that? I think a couple of people did.

Speaker 5 (25:39):
I was thinking about it, but I already had the
number twenty two Green Bay Packers jersey. Aaron Ripkowski fullback.
Of course I have a lot of fullback Packer's jerseys,
but uh yeah, number one, no number eleven. Jadane Reed
will keep number eleven, and Michael Parsons number one. By
the way, you're gonna get an Evan Williams jersey or
what I'm thinking about it?

Speaker 2 (25:57):
What's the problem here?

Speaker 5 (25:58):
Well, the problem is Williams is generical of a name.
There's been plenty of famous Williams on the Packers. Like,
there's got to be an esthetic to the jersey that
you that you purchased.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
Yeah. But you know what, though, they do come in
handy because there's a lot of Celtics fans who had
a number seven D Brown jersey from back in the
day and then all these years later they got Jalen Brown.
It's like, just wait, you just keep the same Jersey.
You don't have. You don't have to spend any more
money if you if you were able to hoard that
and hold on to it for longer, I just I
don't understand for those of you that I asked the question,
you know why of all things. Evan Williams so a

(26:29):
little uh trip back through time. So I was having
a conversation with Lee. We were talking about traveling. And
for those of you that are not familiar, Lee's got
this routine before he goes on trips. What's what's one
place that you go to and what if what is
something you have to take with you on trips?

Speaker 5 (26:45):
Well, every trip I take, I make a little trip
to my local watering hole or liquor store. I should say,
grab myself some mini travel bottles, and you gotta put
them in a ziplock bag. This is a traveling tip
for you. Yes, otherwise they will be confiscated. But if
you put those in ziploc bag, you're welcome to take
as many as you'd like. And so uh, instead of
having to pay up on the on the plane, I

(27:06):
have my own little to go back.

Speaker 2 (27:08):
And if this is the factual, like everything he's saying
is one hundred percent fact, this is what he does,
but he took it a step further on. I was like, dude, like, Lee,
so you just you're gonna go to the liquor store
to buy like mini bottles of Jack Daniels. He's like, no, no,
Evan Williams. Yeah. And I had no idea what Evan
Williams was until I found out that it was the
cheaper version of Jack Daniels. Oh yeah, and better. Okay,

(27:30):
So so I was unfamiliar with that. And then when
all of a sudden, the Packers take a guy named
Evan Williams. Yes, it seemed like that was a one
of the no brainer moves of all time, much like
trading for Micah Parsons. Why why does Lee delab not
ha an Evan Williams Packers Jersey?

Speaker 5 (27:47):
He's a stud too, He's well, you know, he did
have his season cut short in his rookie year, but
he was a stud up until then, and he's gonna
be a stud again this season.

Speaker 2 (27:55):
Okay, Well, I did I think it would be uh?
I think that would be a move to get an
Evan Williams Packers. Might that might be the to get
that together?

Speaker 5 (28:02):
That might be the one. I don't know. I got
to get a new jersey every year. That might be
the one. What else we got lad jonas well? We're
talking injuries, how about some more injury updates. Taylor war
did avoid a serious one if you miss it. Last
night he ran into the metal scoreboard at dyke In Park.
By the way, I didn't know that Minute Made Park
had changed its name to dyke In Park. Dyking as
an air conditioning company in Japan.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (28:22):
Anyway, he ran into the metal scoreboard head first last night.
Lots of blood, ends up not being too bad. He
just got a nasty cut above his right eyes already
had it stitched up. Obviously, he had a he got
he took a ninety two mile per hour fastball to
the face I think a year or two ago, and
had to have facial reconstructure. He's reconstruction after that, or
nasal reconstruction. So that was the big scare. But he

(28:43):
avoided it, so good job.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
You know what's weird about baseball. It's the only sport
where teams are just allowed to manipulate the playing surf
in the field of play, like in the NFL. Listen, man,
it's one hundred yards one hundred and twenty if you

(29:08):
had the the end zones, like it's a like this,
this is what it is, and it's like that everywhere
fifty yards. Why, like in the NBA, like we know
what the dimensions are. In Major League Baseball, it's like, nah,
we'll just throw a giant wall up in left field,
or we'll make right field shorter. You know, why don't
we go ahead and put ivy on the walls during
parts of the year, But early on it's just gonna

(29:29):
be weeds and brick and oh and by the way,
we're gonna go ahead and put metal in a cage.
It's going to be sticking out awkwardly, so outfielders cave
their face and when they're trying to make plays, it's
like they determine how far balls hit if it's a
home run where the power alleys like it's there's no
And look. I like that about baseball because it does

(29:49):
make the viewing experience when you go to a baseball
stadium much better than going to an NFL stadium because
it's more unique. But it is weird that two teams
in the same division or in the same league have
two completely different dimensions when it comes to their park.
It's just like it's odd that that's how it's done,

(30:11):
and it's just accepted, like, hey, one place has more
foul territory than the other. Why, Like what why is
that fair? Like who thought that would be a good idea?
But in baseball and it's not the first thing. Remember Houston,
the Astros used to have that hill in the outfield,
like a random hill, just just sitting there in the outfield,

(30:31):
and nobody thought that, like, yeah, this is awkward until
years later they like, yeah, we should probably get rid
of that. But they kept the metal cage up, so
Taylor Warrick at cave his face and that's nice. Like
Taylor Ward's walking around like Vanilla Sky because the Astros
wanted to get goofy and put up a Tetris unit
in they're in their outfield. Don't get it doesn't make
any sense.

Speaker 5 (30:51):
What else we got Lee somebody else who's recovering from
some some facial injuries psychostu that being Stuart Smith, wrestler
who is brutal attacked.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
You're talking about Jason Stewart or executive.

Speaker 5 (31:04):
No, I just saw he's doing just fine. Yeah, yeah,
he's doing just fine. At the other side of the.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
Hall, the psycho STU, you piss him off, You're gonna
have to feel the wrath pissed off j STU.

Speaker 5 (31:13):
Yeah, wild he got He got released from the eer.
His injuries include trauma to both his upper and lower jaws,
a laceration to his upper lip, and a fracture to
the macxilla bone, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of
several teeth. He's got a long road to recovery. And
my question is what is going on with Rajah Jackson.
Is he gonna be charged with anything? Some have thought
even attempted murder. I mean, I look you, it'd be

(31:37):
hard to argue against that. I just my fav and listen.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
It's a it's a difficult topic because I felt like
there were some people who are not in the know. Uh,
this guy tried to make some sort of a wrestling.
He tried to make it a spectacle. He tried to
do some stunt beforehand where he like smashed an open
beer on Raja and apparently Jackson didn't know that that

(32:02):
was part of it, but then went on livestream saying
I'm gonna beat this guy's ass if I get an
opportunity in there, and the guy tried to apologize and say, oh, listen, man,
I thought, you know, was just all part of the act.
But you know, like, look, if you want to get
your receipt in the ring, I get it. And a
receipt in wrestling is when you get paidback if somebody
hits you harder than they thought. Eventually you'll get your receipt. Like, hey,

(32:23):
I'm gonna get my receipt today, Okay, understood. Yeah, I
kind of, you know, went a little too far last
time where I hit you when I was trying to
pull my punch whatever. But the best part about all
this is while this guy's literally nearly getting beaten to
death and he's unconscious in the ring and he's bleeding
everywhere and choking on blood and he's losing he's lost teeth,
he's got facial fractures, somebody gets down to cover him

(32:48):
for the wind, like they're like, well, we got to
keep with the storyline. Like the guy's literally dying in
the ring, and they're like, well, hook the leg. At
least the repkins down there to count. What are we
doing here? So I do you know, at least they
wanted you know, they take their job so serious and

(33:10):
even a guy who's who might be dying. Still, we
got to make sure we do this the right way
to honor the great art of professional wrestling. So there
is that. But yeah, I don't know what happened to
Jackson Son of he's gonna get arrested or what went
on with that, but that was problematic, all right. That's
lead to lap with the news. Well that's the news,

(33:32):
and thanks for stopping that.

(34:27):
Just search herd or two Pros wherever gets your podcast.
You'll see today's show posted right after we get off
the air. You know, we're making the point earlier that
college football fans are a little crazy, like a little nuts.
Jenna writes in on X those southern schools love college

(34:52):
football so much because that's all they have. It's either
football or sleeping with your cousin, which I think is
just disrespectful. And I think that's I think we're generalized
and we're taking shots at a Southern football fan. I
wouldn't condone that sort of content. I would not condone
that sort of remark here on this show. That feels

(35:12):
like that feels like some slander there. Eddie writes in
what's with all these Miami Dolphins coaches? Wasn't there another
guy who was snorting some of the some of the
powder off the desk?

Speaker 1 (35:25):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (35:25):
There was, Yes, there was. Yeah, that is a you
are correct sir. That was that was taking place back
in the day on video no less, just so everybody
knew it was that you got at powdered donuts under
your nose. No, stay, spilled some ajax on the on
the counter and decided to get after a little bit.

(35:47):
So that is the that is the content and the
feedback we're getting what it comes to. Southern football fans
look and listen that the fan bases are crazy, right,
they get a little bit nuts. They're not the only
fan bases that get a little nuts, a little crazy
from time to time. I can remember the first time
I took my son to a baseball game. We go

(36:08):
to Wrigley Field. My son loves the Cubs. Go to
Wrigley Field. We're sitting there. It's like a special moment,
you know, there with my wife, my young son, my
brother's there watching the Cubs. It's summertime in the bleachers
at wrigley Field. And for some reason, my son stopped

(36:29):
paying attention to the game. I couldn't figure out why
he was looking at something else. And I pan over
to my right and there is a beer cup snake
the size of the Willis Tower in Chicago. That's just
making its way around. Like you know, fan bases get
after a little bit, right, and college football fans are
no different. That's just the way they operate. And one

(36:53):
of those fan bases that is officially back later on tonight,
as we mentioned earlier, is North Carolina. North Carolina TCU
that wraps up the college football weekend, the Labor Day extravaganza,
the college football weekend, and so they are all about it.

(37:14):
You're going to see a star studded guest list for
Bill Belichick's college football coaching debut at North Carolina. Michael
Jordan expected to be there, Mia Ham expected to be there.
Lawrence Taylor, Julius Peppers, Eric Church, Chase Rice Blake Snell

(37:37):
all expected to be there for Bill Belichick's debut. And
if the idea was something similar to, hey, what do
we need to do to you to bring the craze
back into the building. It worked for Colorado. They did
it with Dion Sanders. You can argue they probably didn't
need to go out and make a splash higher like this.

(38:00):
They had Mac Brown, they brought him back. He had
an okay run there with North Carolina. But you know,
not exactly a football power. They look at it like
it's a basketball school and they always have. But if
you were going to make a splash, move and bringing
a coach who is going to bring some eyeballs, especially
to close up the college football Labor Day weekend. Bill

(38:24):
Belichick would be that guy. I also think it's important
to point out that they are selling merchandise as well too.
For those of you that are not familiar, Bill Belichick
is dating Jordan Hudson. She's a lot younger than Bill Belichick.
There's a lot of people who have their theories as
to how this whole thing came together, but they are

(38:48):
apparently selling shirts Lee. What do the shirts say, hair Jordan?
Hair Jordan. We're not going to talk about this, okay,
I mean, look, man, it's this is what makes the
Belichick experience in college football so much more fascinating because

(39:09):
there is a slappiness to college football that Belichick didn't
have to deal with in the NFL. The NFL is
like really highbrow like some you know, like you know,
we talk about you know, beer cup snakes and all
that stuff. But for the most part, the NFL is
pretty highbrow, like when you when you have a Super Bowl,

(39:31):
which is what's going to be fascinating. If the Bills
ever get back to a super Bowl, it's going to
be fascinating to see how Bill's mafia is represented at
a super Bowl, because if you go to a super Bowl,
it's very corporate, and in a lot of ways, the
NFL is very corporate. College football is off the rails.
We talked about, you know, the comments from college football
fans taking shots at the South. College football is completely

(39:54):
off the rails. And so when you see that Belichick,
mister highbrow, mister sirius is going to coach in college,
he's gonna have to deal with a lot of the
slappiness that he never had to deal with in the NFL.
You know, like the student store selling hair Jordan's shirts

(40:15):
talking about his twenty something year old girlfriend and we're
not going to talk about it as a tagline at
the BOT. It's like Belichick didn't have to deal with
that in New England. Right. The only time Belichick had
to deal with anything that was sort of a kind
of you know, kind of goofy off the field was
you know, when his owner decided, you know, before a game,
you know, why don't we go to orchards of Asia

(40:37):
and Florida and you know take care of business, Like
why don't we you know, let's let's operate, you know,
in a more stress stress free vibe as we get
ready for an AFC Championship game. Other than that, Belichick
he dealt with issues, but he didn't deal with as
much as the slappiness as he's going to deal with
in college. And I'm really curious to see how he

(40:57):
takes to it because there's some coaches who just fully
embrace it and say, yeah, like Lane Kiffin loves it.
Lane Kiffin eggs it on. He has fun with it.
Saban kind of you know, but he won so much
that he didn't really have to, you know, he didn't
really have to deal with a lot of that. But
for a lot of these schools, they do a lot

(41:18):
of this goofy stuff because that's just what they're known for.
That's how they that's how they represent themselves. And so
North Carolina is rolling out everything they've they've got, you know,
the celebrities are going to be in attendance. They're making
t shirts not only of Bill Belichick, but Belichick's girlfriend.
Like they they are letting him know, like this is

(41:41):
a different atmosphere. This isn't like Foxborough, this isn't like
the NFL. Like like you embrace us you embrace the
goofiness that comes along with college football and what has
been listen, maybe on the field not the greatest product
of college football that we've seen this weekend. Notre Dame
Miami was a fun game. LSU Clemson fun game, a

(42:02):
lot of sloppiness, but it is good to have college
football back. The Labor Day weekend extravaganza concludes coming up
later on tonight, and then we've got a long season
of complaining and a long season of NFL right around
the corner as well too. It's all smooth sailing after here.
It's been a fun one. Thanks to Lead to Lap,

(42:22):
thanks to Chris Purfett, I'm Jonas knox In for calling
here on the Herd right here on Fox Sports Radio.
