late last night because on Lock It In, I gave
out the for the first time ever, the blood bank

(01:05):
guarantee mixed with the mustache guarantee. If you haven't been watching,
I've got a mustache right now. I had to shave
off my beard after Marcus Mariota didn't play for the
Tennessee Titans. I stuck with the mustache, and as we
come down the stretch, I'm trying to catch Todd Furman,
who's in the lead on our television show, which airs

(01:27):
on FS one at four thirty Eastern, three thirty Central
to thirty Mountain and one thirty Pacific. And so my
blood bank guarantee mixed with the mustache guarantee, was that
James Harden and the Houston Rockets were gonna cover plus
eight and a half last night. Well, the game didn't

(01:49):
end until after midnight, well after midnight on the East Coast,
and it ended in spectacular fashion in overtime. Um, I'm
not sure how many of you were able to stay
up and watch it. I'm not sure how many of
you even saw it. But in a tie game, with
about twenty some odd seconds left, the ball is going

(02:10):
out of bounds. Kevin Durant chases it down. Durant, who
is already out of bounds, saves the ball in quotation
marks with both feet out of bounds, throws the ball
back blindly onto the court. Steph Curry catches it, takes
a dribble inside, drains a jumper to go up to

(02:32):
then we come back down the court. UH, with James
Harden ball in his possession. He rises up and this
is what it sounded like last night in overtime on
t n T Gerald Green, Duran Brown, Harden trying to
get free down good, good, James, hard enough, fighting for it.

(03:00):
Prodible shot. Rockets by one. We're with one second ago.
Incredible shot. If you haven't seen the video of the shot,
you need to. Even though it's the NBA regular season,
that made the Rockets ten and one in their last
eleven games, Uh, eleven and one. I think maybe even

(03:21):
eleven and one. I believe. I think there are eleven
one and one now in their last twelve games. Just
a phenomenal end of the game scenario. The Rockets are
on fire, even without Chris Paul who's been out injured
for a while. I don't know if you guys were
staying up watching it, Danny G Did you stay up
and watch this thing? Yeah? I'm really glad I did too. Um. Yeah,

(03:44):
there are probably a lot of people who were a
little bit blewe eyed who decided to stay up. I
wasn't necessarily going to stay up, but I had so
much money that I had bet on lock it in
that I decided I needed to make sure I didn't
miss anything, and I'm glad that I did stay up
for an improbable, an incredible comeback. The Rockets had been
down as many as twenty points in early in the

(04:06):
second half, and Uh they came back to to win
it outright again. Huge wind, blood bank guarantee cashes and
the UH and the mustache guarantee never before given. So UH.
Fun night also went and saw the the Aquaman movie.
Took all three boys to go see Aquaman. They liked it.

(04:27):
You know, my kids love the superhero movies, so a
movie review for me is that Aquaman, if you've got
kids is uh is pretty decent. So that was the
big evening here in the Travis household. Now we are
getting ready for the start of a wild card weekend
in the NFL. We've got four big games lined up,
and I thought we would start off today's show. We

(04:49):
got a loaded show for you. An hour two, Jeff
Shortz will join us an hour three. Uh, we will
be joined by Petros Papadegis, who's gonna join us on Friday.
We haven't had him on for a couple of weeks.
Now because usually he joins us on Tuesday, but it's
been Christmas and it's been New Year's in back to
back weeks, so he will join us in our three.

(05:09):
At the end of our one, I will get you
guys gambling picks from Drew Martin, who will be on
to break down the college football National Championship Game on Monday,
as well as the four NFL Wild Card weekend games
that start tomorrow afternoon at four thirty Eastern. We'll get
into those here in a moment. Tomorrow morning, early I

(05:31):
will hop a flight head out to San Francisco, UH
to the Bay Area to get ready for Monday nights
National Title game. I'll do the show in Santa clar
California on Monday, and then I'll immediately do the show
late at night on Tuesday, early morning, in the hours

(05:51):
after the National title game between Alabama and Clemson. So
a busy weekend upcoming. All that is in the future
and the first thing that most of us will watch
come Saturday. How about the Colts going on the road
against the Texans. Then later on Saturday we have the
Seahawks and the Cowboys. Chargers Ravens are on Sunday starting

(06:13):
at one eastern, and then Eagles Bears will be on
at four forty eastern. So as you look at these
four games, UH, the point spreads are not very substantial
in three of those games, and even the Eagles Bears
hanging around six points is not that wild of a
of an overall UH point spread. So as I look

(06:36):
at these four games, the ideal scenario for most of
you who are NFL fans is to be able to
watch all four games. And I would imagine there is
a huge percentage of my audience that's listening right now
that will at some point be able to either watch
all four of these games or substantial portions of all four,
so long as they stay and remain good games. But

(06:59):
there's all know, a lot of you out there, I
think who will be busy. You have a lot of
obligations with your family. You got kids with sports and
everything else, and maybe you're only able to watch one
game each day, or maybe you're even only able to
watch one game in UH in the totality, how would
you pick what are going to be the best games

(07:19):
of Wild Card Weekend? Well, I'm glad you asked, because
I'm here to rank them for you wonder four in
the order in which you must watch them. When we
come back out of the first break, I will then
toss it to the crew here and let them decide
what will be the game of the weekend in the
NFL for wild Card weekend. And I believe the best

(07:40):
game is gonna be Chargers Ravens. I really do. And
the reason why I think, and that's Sunday morning, that's
the one o'clock game on the East Coast. Uh. Why
do I think Chargers Ravens gonna be so good? If
you go look at the data, Philip Rivers played his
worst statistical game of the year against the Ravens a

(08:02):
couple of weeks ago. Uh, in a game that honestly,
if the Chargers had one they would be hosting and
number one overall. See, they would have gotten a by
and the playoffs would have run through l A. So
I like the Chargers UH to beat the Ravens. But
in particular, why do I feel that that is going

(08:23):
to be the outcome? I'll tell you because Philip Rivers
played his worst game of the season, and the loss
against the Chargers, even with that having occurred, if Antonio
Gates does not fumble the football late. I think there's
a good chance the Chargers win that game outright, even
with Philip Rivers playing the worst game of the year. Meanwhile,

(08:44):
Lamar Jackson played his best game of the year against
the Chargers on the road, So you had Philip Rivers
playing his worst game, you had Lamar Jackson playing his
best game, and still the Chargers were in position with
a couple of minutes to go down. I believe sixteen
to ten to win the game, seventeen to sixteen, even

(09:07):
with Philip Rivers having his worst game of the season,
and even with Lamar Jackson having his best game of
the season, I think it's more likely these two guys
come back to Earth play roughly their average games so
far this season in the playoffs, and if that happens,
the Chargers win. I think the Chargers win on a

(09:28):
late field goal, maybe even the final play of the
game that I believe is going to be the best
game of Wild Card Weekend. Second best game Cowboys going
up against the Seahawks. I think the Seahawks win outright
by a field goal or more. I think this one
on Saturday Night is gonna be really close. Colts Texans

(09:50):
I think the Colts pull away to win by seven
to ten points, something like thirty one to twenty one.
I think that is the worst game of the weekend
in the Wild Card and I think the runner up
for the worst game is Eagles Bears. I think the
Bears get the win, but I think they win by

(10:10):
a field goal over the Eagles. That is my prediction.
Coming down the stretch again, I'm taking all four road
teams to cover, but I like the Bears to get
the outright win. So my predictions, if you're out there
and you want to jot them down. I believe the
Colts is the play to win outright against the Texans.

(10:31):
I think the Seahawks went out right against the Cowboys.
I think the Chargers went out right against the Ravens,
and then I believe the Eagles cover, but the Bears
win by a field goal. Those are my predictions. If

Will put up a poll question here momentarily and it
will be this of the four underdogs in the wild
card weekend in the NFL, UH, the underdog is the

(12:27):
Colts on the road against the Texans, all four of
the visiting teams or the underdogs the Seahawks against the Cowboys, UH,
the Chargers on the road against the Ravens, and the
Eagles on the road against the Bears. Which one is
the most likely to pull off an upset? That will
be our poll question. You can go vote at Clay Travis.
I will put that up when Eddie Garcia comes in

(12:48):
a little bit and gives us his update. But in
the meantime, I want to bring up everybody, bring the
crew in, and I want to ask you guys, you
are on the spot. You can only watch one game
this week end in the NFL wild Card. Now, the
truth may well be that you, like me, you will
watch all four. But if you could only watch one,
what will be the game of the weekend in the

(13:09):
NFL wild Card? Danny g your draft pick is which
game it's gonna be? On Fox? Seahawks at the Cowboys
because I think this is the biggest game yet for
Dak Prescott. If he plays well and gets this w
something Tony Romo couldn't do in the playoffs. Jerry is
going to have to back that brings truck up to
Dak's bank. And we know that Prescott needs his teammates

(13:32):
around him to play good in order for him to
be effective. So also a huge game for Zeke Elliott.
On the other side, Russell Wilson can carry the Seahawks
on his shoulders pretty much by himself. He wills the
Seahawks to victories. So I think that that makes for
the best and most intriguing matchup for the weekend. Yeah,
I think that's a good argument. I think that in

(13:54):
terms of raw dollars, nobody has more at stake this
weekend than Dak Prescott because the Cowboys get this win.
Cowboys only have three playoff wins since all the way
back in so if you are a Dallas Cowboy fan,
playoff wins in general are few and far between. Dak
Prescott getting a playoff win. Remember, he lost in his

(14:16):
rookie year to the Green Bay Packers when the Dallas
Cowboys were in the divisional round and had overall playoff
home field advantage. So if he gets this win over
the Seahawks, now I don't think you will. I think
Russell Wilson and the Seahawks are gonna go on the
road and get this game one on Saturday night on Fox.
But if it happens, then I think you're right. I
think it's hard to argue that Dak Prescott is not

(14:38):
gonna get extended, and that he's not gonna get extended
for a massive amount of money. Potentially, even in this offseason,
the Cowboys go ahead and jump in and write out
a massive contract of a hundred million dollars or more.
Still might happen even if the Cowboys lose, but I
think it becomes a certainty if they win. Not a

(14:59):
bad a draft pick there, uh, Eddie Garcia, you are
Steelers fan. Unfortunately, as we talked about yesterday, the Steelers
are not in the playoffs, even as the Antonio Brown
drama continues to build. But which game of all of
these do you think in wild Card weekend is must
watch will be the best for the average viewer out there? Well,
I gotta be honest, I I think you can make

(15:22):
a case for all four games. I don't remember the
last time I've actually been this excited about a wild
card weekend, and all four games I think can be
really intriguing. I can see all four teams are all
eight teams winning. But I think I'm gonna go with
with you. I believe you said Ravens Chargers, I'm gonna
go there as well. I was at the meeting here
in Los Angeles between these two teams. I'm kind of

(15:43):
curious to see what the Chargers were able to take
away from that, what adjustments are gonna make now on
the road against Baltimore. I know Lamar Jackson is not
a very polished passer, but he is a pretty exciting player. Uh.
You you don't know what you're gonna get from him. Uh.
And that style of the Ravens, I know it's not
necessarily exciting, but it is. I am intrigued by it

(16:05):
to see if that's how far that style of great defense,
running game, and then a wild card at quarterback, how
far that can take them. The Chargers playing on the
road seven and one away from home this year, and
we've talked about it, they don't really have a home
field advantage I think they're more comfortable on the road,
So I think this I just I'm really excited to
see this matchup again, this time in Baltimore. Thirty seven

(16:27):
year old Philip Rivers going up against twenty one year
old Lamar Jackson. Crazy staff for you. If Lamar Jackson
ran at the same rate in which he has run
in his start at so starts at the end of
the year, for an entire season, he would have more
carries than Ezekiel Elliott. He would have the most carries
of any player in the NFL. Now that's not sustainable

(16:50):
long term. I understand there are people that are excited
to watch Lamar Jackson long term. The quarterback position cannot
run the football as much as Lamar Jackson is running it. Eventually,
you get lit up, you get injured, you get to
where you can't throw the ball at all. I tend
to look at that game, and the reason why I
think it's gonna be such a good one is you
can't really use what happened in the first game as

(17:13):
evidence of what's gonna happen in the second game. Because
Philip Rivers played his worst game and Lamar Jackson played
his best game. I think what's more likely to happen
in the second go around of this game is that
the quarterbacks are gonna play closer to their average performances
all year. If that happens, and I am correct, then
I think the Ravens will lose at home to the

(17:34):
Chargers because Philip Rivers will have a big time game.
And if that happens, Uh, then we've got a pretty
interesting set up for Week two in the NFL because
in theory now we don't know exactly what might happen
between the Colts and the Texans, But in theory, you
could get a divisional round game where the Chargers go
back on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs, the

(17:57):
team that they just beat a few weeks ago in
Kansas City. And you want to talk about nervous. The
Kansas City Chiefs fans have not won a home playoff
games since they would much prefer I would think not
to see uh, the Chargers coming back to town, given
how competitive those games have been so far on the season.

(18:19):
I think they would rather see uh probably uh, probably
the Colts, certainly, um and uh. And we'll just see
kind of going forward, what exactly is going to happen there,
because there'd be a good chance if the if the
Chargers pull off the upset over the Ravens, that they
could be going up against the Chiefs. All right, um, dub,

(18:39):
you are there to field calls. By the way, I'll
open up the phone lines. We're gonna have an hour
to um a a guest that I think you guys
will enjoy in Jeff Shorts. An hour three we'll talk
with Petros Papadakis. If you want to weigh in it
all on wild card weekend in the NFL, we'll take
your calls for a few minutes here eight seven, seven, nine,
six three nine. What is your play here? Best wild

(19:03):
card game of the weekend is going to be? Which
to me, it's the first game tomorrow, Colts and Sexons.
The Texans started off oh in three, right off nine straight.
The Colts started off one and five. They've won nine
of ten, so two of the hottest teams, a divisional
matchup and they split the season series. So I think
it's gonna be a tight game. Two of the best
young quarterbacks in the league, and I like the Colts
as well. Roberto, who are you taking in this game?

(19:26):
In this weekend as the best wild card matchup. We'll
agree with Eddie. I mean with Danny Cowboys and Seahawks,
mainly because I hate the Cowboys and the storylines intrigued me.
Doc how is he going to play? And then Amari
Cooper has been terrible the last two or three games
in the regular season. I want to see how he
does in the playoff game. Everybody gets a vote except

(19:46):
for Eagles Bears, which right now the Bears are a
six point favorite. I like the under in the Eagles
Bears game. I think there's probably some some truth to
the fact that this is not going to be that
exciting of a game. Uh, I can see one, you know. Ultimately,
I think it's gonna be a twenty two seventeen style
game that I think the Bears will win. But I
think if you look at how Nick Foles has been playing, man,

(20:09):
Nick Foles has come out of nowhere. We talked about
a hundred million dollar contract for Dak Prescott, and I
think there's a very good chance that's gonna happen. I
think it's a certainty that Nick Foles is gonna get
a hundred million dollars from somebody, probably around seventy million
dollars guaranteed when he becomes an unrestricted free agent at
the moment the Eagles season ends. It will be intriguing

(20:30):
to see where he goes. Maybe Jacksonville. Maybe Jacksonville is
the favorite with Blake Bortles leaving the belief that Nick
Foles could fit that team. Uh, we'll see whether or
not that ends up happening. In the meantime, we pull
up Eddie Garcia. Here we find out what's shaken in
the world of sports. We started off the show with
our reaction to an incredible game between the Rockets and

(20:51):
the Warriors late night last night on t n T.
If you weren't watching, the blood Bank Guarantee and the
Mustache Guarantee hit big double win air. If you watch
the lock it In, it was the game that I
gave out as the must bet. What else was going
on last night, Eddie Garca, Well, for those who may
not have saw that game, you're talking about the Rockets
Warriors in Oakland where James Harden went off. Not only

(21:13):
did he go for a triple double forty four points,
ten rebounds, and fifteen assists, but he had a three
point at the end of regulation to send in overtime
and at a three point at the end of overtime
to win it. One thirty five, one thirty four Rockets
over the Warriors in overtime. That's five straight games now
for James Harden with forty or more points and not
surprised that the Rockets have won five in a row.
Spurs over the Raptors one oh seven. It was the

(21:35):
return of Kawhi Leonard to San Antonio, first game back
after being traded in the off season to Toronto. He
finished with twenty one points, but the guy he was
traded for, DeMar DeRosa, now if San Antonio gets his
first career triple double twenty one point to rebounds eleven
assists to lead the Spurs to a one oh seven victory.
Nuggets over the Kings one seventeen as the best record
in the West at and eleven, Top twenty five College

(21:56):
basketball number two Michigan now fourteen and o on the
year after a sixty over Penn State. A couple of
minor upsets out of the Big Ten, with Wisconsin rank
twenty SEWOD losing it home to Minnesota fifty two and
Perdue knocking off rank Iowa eight six to seventy wins
for number eighteen n State and number one Indiana will
be about to OutKick the coverage intense seconds. But first

(22:17):
a word from farmers. From a dog accidentally flooding a
living room to a dog taking a joy ride, and
we've covered it. Talk to farmers. We know a thing
or two. Because we've seen a thing or two. We
are farmers under written my Farmers truck fire insurance exchanges
and affiliates products unavailable in every state. Now back to
click Travis in the OutKick the Coverage studios. We are
indeed here in the Geico Outkicks studios, where it's easy

(22:39):
to say fifteen percent or more on car insurance with
Geiko to Geico dot com or call eight hundred nine
four seven auto. The only hard part figuring out which
way is easier? Can I take a few year calls
here eight seven, seven nine, six six three six nine.
You can weigh in on the pole question. NFL wild
Card Weekend start tomorrow afternoon, two games on Saturday, two

(23:02):
games on Sunday. The poll question is up, which road
underdog on wild Card Weekend is most likely to pull
off the upset the Colts? The Seahawks, the Chargers or
the Eagles. Early votes rolling in. I will update you
on those momentarily. But first we go to Dan and St. Louis. Dan,
what's up? Happy New Year's to you in all the

(23:24):
game YouTube? Roberto, Happy New Year's. But listen, Clay, this
is why I want to know the game. I want
to watch this. I want to watch the Baltimore Charge
the game after that game. It doesn't matter what because
if everything goes right, if Baltimore beats the Charges, then
Baltimore will be playing Kansas City. If everything goes right
in that game, I just want to see what the

(23:44):
injury report is going to be. It's gonna be very hard.
It's gonna be very physical, and I think for either
team that comes to Kansas City, it's gonna be very
hard to duplicate what they did on Wild Court Weekend.
I have a question for you to or to scenary
Offensive Player of the Year. I think it should go
to Lamar Jackson because they want the divisions. UH number one. UH.

(24:08):
If they want to talk about Baker Mayfield, you mean
Rookie of the You mean rookie of the year, not
officive the year. Because you gotta go Mahomes or Breeze
for m v P. Right, But let me ask you this, Clay.
Do you see a scenario where they would give uh
but the quarterback and uh New Orleans the m v

(24:30):
P and get Pat Mahomes offensive Rookie of the Year.
Do you ever? Yeah, thanks for the calling. Well, first
of all, Mahomes is in the second year. That may
be a little bit unfair because he didn't play as
a rookie, uh and so he comes in and he's dominant,
throws for fifty touchdowns. I think Mahomes is going to
end up winning the m v P now very close.

(24:52):
But it's interesting because on this show, we've had two
of the fifty MVP voters, Alex Marvez and John a
Claim both tell us they're voting for Drew Brees. So
that leaves forty eight other voters. But we know that
at least two out of the fifty are voting for
Drew Brees to win the m v P. And I
still think this is gonna be really close, but I

(25:14):
think my Homes is probably gonna pull it off, although
I'm intrigued to see how exactly that's gonna shake down. UM,
I don't think you can give Lamar Jackson the offensive
Rookie of the Year because I think it's down to
see Kwan Barkley, who had over two thousand yards from scrimmage,
was phenomenal with the Giants, and UH with Baker Mayfield,
and I think Baker Mayfield has to be your offensive

(25:35):
Rookie of the year. Um personally set a new record
for quarterbacks for touchdown passes. Hadn't ever uh really gotten
to play to start the season. It's amazing to think
about what his numbers would look like if Hugh Jackson
had made him the starter week one instead of going
with Sarrod Taylor. Let's go to Chris in Birmingham. What's up, Chris?

(25:57):
What's up? I want to watch the game between I
don't I'm not a fan of either want them but
Seattle and UH Dallas because I think, I mean, you
know where everybody know Russell woofs his money and you
could say that if you would say, you know, he

(26:17):
might not have pretty numbers, but in the last two
minutes of the game, you know, for a quarterback and
you never put him there, but he's cut at the
end of a game, you know you don't have to
steak number and I'm gonna treat to watch that, Mattress.
I think Dak thanks for the call and uh roll tide. Indeed,
I think I'm for me and my bets on Monday Night.
I think that Dad has, as I said earlier, the

(26:41):
most at stake of any quarterback in any of these games,
because this game is worth a hundred million dollars to him.
If he wins this game. Cowboy playoff wins have been
so few and far between that he gets that proverbial
monkey off his back. Right. When you're a young quarterback,
sometimes it can hang over your head if you continue

(27:01):
to lose in the playoffs and never get that win. Uh.
Think about what happened with Carson Palmer. It took him
forever to finally win a playoff game, Matt Ryan, it
took forever to win a playoff game. It's hard to
win playoff games in the NFL, particularly if you are
a young quarterback, and particularly if you're a team like
the Dallas Cowboys that gets so much media attention all

(27:22):
year round. I think this would be a massive win
for Dak. Here's the reason I don't think he's gonna
win because Russell Westbrook is having a phenomenal season. The
Seahawks have a better rush attack over the season than
the Dallas Cowboys do. The Seahawks have a solid, if
not spectacular defense, although I do think they're a little
bit susceptible in the secondary. And a Marii Cooper who

(27:44):
hasn't been very good the last three weeks. He's only
average I think around thirty five yards UH per game
the last three weeks. I think he emerges, has a
big game. Uh. There's some points scored in this one,
but ultimately Russell Wilson is the better quarterback. I want
the ball his hand late, and I think they go
on the road and get the win. Michael in Kansas City,
what's up, Michael, Hey, thanks for having me. I love

(28:07):
your show. Uh, Harry Kins City. We haven't had a
win at home, but we've never had a quarterback ever
like Patrick Mahomes, so we're in every single game. Yeah.
But the way this could the way this could set
up for Chiefs fans, right, as you guys sit around
and watch Wild Card weekend, if everything held according to

(28:29):
the formula, right, you would get the Ravens who nearly
beat you on the road. You got passed him in
overtime thanks to a miraculous fourth and nine conversion. I
think it was a fourth and three touchdown pass on
that same drive to fourth down conversions, you were fairly
fortunate to win that game. If you're a Chiefs fan,
if it doesn't go to a form, Let's say that

(28:49):
the that the Colts go on the road and beat
the Texans. Man, that's a tough matchup, I think, given
the fact that the Colts are nine and one in
their last ten and they basically been playing for the
playoffs since they started off with a what one in
five record to begin the season, and also the Chargers,
who just came into town and beat you in Kansas
City are out there. There's gonna be a lot of

(29:10):
nervousness in Kansas City. No matter who the matchup is,
all three of those teams I just named could be
incredibly difficult matchups. The one team you know you won't
play is the Texans because if the Texans win, they'll
definitely go on the road against the New England Patriots.
That has to make you a little bit nervous if
you are a Chiefs fan, right, yes, but I honestly

(29:31):
I want the Chargers because I feel with Eric Berry
in the entire game, it was an entirely different game
the first half, then it was the second half when
he was out. If he's there the whole time, I
feel like we gave them that game. I think we
will destroy the Chargers if they come in and Eric Burris,
there's a whole game to put everybody in place on

(29:54):
that defense. If I were much better at home, I agree.
Look the defense has been very Are you questionable? If
I were you? If I'm a Chiefs fan, I want
the Ravens. I know you went to overtime against them,
But of the quarterbacks, I want a quarterback who is
not that experienced in the playoffs, who hasn't won games before,

(30:14):
and who is not used to the pressure packed situations.
We know Philip Rivers, thirty seven year old veteran, has
won a lot of playoff games over the years. We
know also that that Andrew Luck has won a lot
of playoff games for a young guy. I would much
rather go up against Lamar Jackson in that scenario than
I would either Andrew Luck or Philip Rivers personally. Calvin

(30:38):
in San Antonio, what's up, Calvin? Good morning? Guys in
a happy New year, appreciate that if by saying, uh,
I can't believe that my game to watch for the
weekend wild Card weekend is the Cowboys in Seattle because
I'm a Risks fan. Yeah, I know it's a lot
of unfortunate things that happened to my team in the

(30:59):
wheels fell off at the end, But I think that
will be the best game because the teams have similar
makeups with u strong defense, decent offense. But it's gonna
come down the quarterback play. Doc has never been in
this position before. I mean he has his first year technically,
but it was his first year. Russell been here since

(31:20):
year one, every year with the opportunity to advance. And
I honestly just think that Cowboys are using Dak wrong.
To me, his strength is his legs, not his pocket presence,
not his passing down field. If he moved out of
the pocket more, I think he would have more opportunity
to make plays down feel and I'm not even saying running,

(31:41):
but I mean if he just simply move out of
the pocket more, yeah, I think I think we were
lost in that. I think the question if you're a
Dallas Cowboy fan Dak in the pocket. That could loom
larger in this game. Fumbles. Dak Prescott has protected the
ball very well when the pocket has collapsed and he

(32:03):
has been standing there holding the football for a big, strong,
tough quarterback, Dak Prescott has fumbled the ball a lot,
and I feel like in this game that could very
well loom large late in the game, some point in
the game when the pocket collapses and Dad gets hit
and he tries to extend the play instead of just

(32:23):
going ahead and taking the sack. He has tended to
lose the football in pressure pack situations. Last call. As
we finish off the segment, gets ready to get some
gambling picks from Drew Martin Betts with sports book Review,
Jose and Fremont. What game you got for wild Card
weekend in the NFL. That's a big dog Happy New Year, man,

(32:45):
and I'll tell you guys in there. Hey man, I'm
actually looking forward to the Chargers versus Ravens. I hate
the Chargers. I'm a thy high Rader fan. I got
a question for you after this as well. And uh,
you know, it's hard not to lack Rivers even though
he's a rival of ours. But I would love to
him going against Casey and as far as Casey having
Eric Berry said it done in the second half like
that last caller said, Hey, they're getting that tight end back.

(33:07):
So I'd be very careful ifout talking about whipping on
the Chargers and what's your take on the Mike Mayock
thing man Hunter Henry coming back could be a substantial
impact for for Philip Rivers to give him one more
well welcome, one more weapon down the stretch. I think
it's always hard to judge when it comes to how
NFL gms are gonna do. I think Mike Mayock over

(33:29):
time has done a really good job of analyzing players.
He's never had to actually put his money where his
mouth is, and that would make me a little bit
nervous of pulling a guy directly out of the media.
Having said that, not very far away in the Bay Area,
I think John Lynch has done a pretty decent job
so far as the GM, and he came straight out
of the broadcast booth, which is even more difficult than

(33:51):
coming out of NFL analyst role where you spend all
your time looking at college players. So if John Lynch
could pull it off for the forty Niners. I don't
see any reason why make Mike Mayott couldn't pull it
off for the Oakland Raiders. Will update you on our
poll question. You can go vote at Clay Travis. Which
road underdog on wild Card weekend is most likely to

(34:11):
pull off the upset. Several thousand of you have already voted.
I will give you the results when we return. Is
that the Colts, the Seahawks, the Chargers or the Eagles.
This is out Kicked the coverage gambling picks. Next on

Drew Martin. He's at Drew Martin Bets. You can read
him at sports book review dot com. Get you ready

(34:54):
for the wild Card weekend in the NFL as well
as the college football playoff game. Let's start with the
college football play off game. Obama around a six point favorite.
The over under on this one ticking right around fifty
nine or sixty could be some weather could be not
very nice out there in Santa Clara, in the Levi
Stadium where the forty Niners play. I'll be out there

(35:14):
in person watching this game. Gonna be on Bama. I
think gonna be on the over, although I'm gonna pay
attention to the weather a little bit more. What about you, Drew, Yeah,
but it should be a funny game to go to UM.
As far as breaking this game down play, I go
to the Alabama side, and when you break down Alabama
in the last couple of years, they've only played in
four games prior to this year total higher than sixty.

(35:37):
So fundamentally it's a lot of different because just this
year alone they've played in eight games total higher than sixty.
So with that offense going up and down the field
under Nick Savans, fundamentally it changes a lot. And uh,
I kind of agree with you on your Alabama side one.
Because of the defensive tackle Quinn Williams. I think he's
an absolute gage game changer going against that Clemson center

(35:59):
guard of Combo. I think he's be able to disrupt
the Clemson offense. Also the big low opportunity on Alabama
in my opinion, you know, you can find him at
minus five right now going up the country. Trevor Lawrence. Mind,
he's just a freshman Clempson. Yes, he's been good. But
when you talk about the quarterbacks that have beaten Alabama
under Nick Saban, we're throwing out names like Cam Newton,

(36:22):
Johnny Manziel, Deshaun Watson. In terms of athletic ability, there's
a step above Trevor Lawrence, and I just don't think
he's going to be able to have the mobility with
his feet to keep plays alive. Therefore, I think it's,
you know, a fine lovel opportunity on one of the
best teams of my lifetime in college football. Alabama maya
fide class. Good call there, I agree with you. What

(36:45):
about wild card weekend in the NFL. We've got three
teams that are all under a field goal. Then you've
got the Eagles as around a six point underdog in
the two games on Saturday, two games on Sunday. Who
do you like the most in these four? You know,
I would probably go to the Houston, Indiana, the Indianapolis

(37:05):
Houston game. He had told forty eight Houston minus one
right now, although there's some opinion in the market, we're
seeing minus one toward Indie. The market really like in Indianapolis,
and I agree with it. Shaun Watson's and hits more
than any other quarterback in the NFL. Going up against
the other side of that spectrum, Indianapolis with one of
the best offensive lines in the NFL with Andrew left

(37:26):
behind it, both of these two teams to the hottest
teams in the NFL. In Indianapolis started one in five
on the season, Houston oh and three. So India there
with nine ten down the stretch. I think he gets
the better quarterbacks behind the better offensive line, So Indianapolis,
I think it's the play wild Card weekend collection. I've
already made that play as well, Drew. What about any

(37:48):
other game on wild Card Weekend? What would be your
second best play? Um, I would go with two of
the unders, actually, Seattle Dallas. You can find it under
forty three. Similar stylistically for both of these two teams.
Seattle left the NFL in total rushing yards and rushing attempts.
On the other side of that, Ezekoe Elliott let all

(38:10):
players in rushing yards in attempts. So I think both
of these two teams keep the ball on the ground,
keep that clock running. I don't think there's gonna be
a lot of scoring. I like the the total of
forty three under Seattle Dallas. And also the last game
of the weekend Philadelphia at Chicago. Hellelphia's defense come out
of late u shut out the Redskins actually to end

(38:33):
the regular season. On the other side, Chicago's defense one
of the better units in all of the NFL. And
talk about bad weather's the National Championship game, Chicago might
have some bad weather as well, not not conduces to
offensive scoring. Looks to be just thirty five degrees with
twenty mile an hour wins there in Chicago. So I'd
look for the under in Philadelphia Chicago as well, So

(38:54):
two unders there and looking for the Colts at plus
one class out ending stuff as always Drew Martin at
Drew Martin Bet. You can read him at sports book
or review dot com. Go check him out, appreciate that.
As we head into the weekend, may surprise you. By
the way. We've got one college football game going on.
North Dakota State Bison they're gonna play Eastern Washington. My

(39:16):
guy Sal said loves he loves North Dakota State. If
you're craving some college football as well on an NFL
wild card game, I know we got a big audience
that listens every day. Uh up in Fargo, North Dakota
on sixteen sixty am. And this got an interesting story,
North Dakota State going for their seventh title in eight years. Uh,

(39:38):
that is a storyline to pay attention to as well.
When we come back, I'll update you on the poll question.
Which of the underdogs do you guys feel is most
likely to pull off the upset in wild Card weekend
in the NFL? Will also get you geared up for
Jeff Schwartz break it down. We just heard the offensive
line formation there. Uh. The difference between the Colts who

(39:59):
have been acting Andrew Luck very well and the Texans,
two have allowed Deshaun Watson to take a lot of
big hits. Does Jeff Shortz think that will be the
difference in that Colts Texans game? We will discuss all
that more. It's wild Card weekend upcoming in the NFL.
Appreciate you spending your Friday morning with us. We'll break
all those games down for you at the top of

Late night last night on lock it In, I made
it my blood bank guarantee mixed with my mustache guarantee
never before guarantee, double before like that. And it was
on the Rockets plus eight and a half last night
against the Golden State Warriors. That game did not tip

(41:08):
off until like ten forty Eastern last night, maybe even
ten forty five. It took forever to actually start um
and then it went into overtime. Bleary eyed sitting up
watching that you just heard the ending of that game.
On the update from Eddie Garcia James Harden on Absolute
Fire of Late uh down the stretch, the Rockets are

(41:32):
ten one and one in their last twelve games against
the number eleven and one now, I believe overall in
their last twelve outright and uh, incredible win. Incredible shot
when James Harden rose up and dropped that shot in
uh for a big win for the Houston Rockets. I

(41:52):
know we're just at like the midpoint of the NBA season,
but the Rockets comeback story is already an intriguing one.
And maybe, maybe, just maybe the Warriors are not as
good as everybody anticipated they would be before the season started.
Now they do get to Marcus Cousins coming back soon. Uh.
That would be a much needed addition to the interior

(42:13):
of that lineup obviously, would give them another score and
make the much more difficult to defend, assuming that Cousins
can come back healthy from his injury. But that should
be coming down the stretch when he will be back
on the court. So we'll see how all of that
shakes out. Number one story I think in the world
of sports, in terms of actual games that were played
last night, beyond a shadow of a doubt, was that

(42:37):
big shot hit by James Harden and overtime against the Warriors.
But the number one story that will certainly be the
case of the weekend to come. It's NFL wild Card weekend.
We've got four different games going on too on Saturday
too on Sunday, all four road teams are underdogs as
they come in and UH, the question is uh for

(42:58):
our poll question of the day. Uh. It's nearly four
thousand of you have voted here early in the morning.
Which road underdog on the wild card weekend most likely
to pull off the upset? You guys think it's the Colts.
The Colts right now are favored to beat the Texans
in our poll question, although there's a lot of closeness here.

(43:19):
So far in the poll results, the Colts get thirty
one percent of the vote. Uh. The Chargers get twenty
eight percent of the vote to pull off the upset
over the Ravens. Uh. And then the Seahawks get percent
of the vote to beat the Dallas Cowboys, the Eagles
getting only fift percent, but a fairly even four way

(43:40):
race down the stretch. Here you can go vote at
Clay Travis on the Twitter machine. UH. The poll question
up at the top of my feed, and it is
again the question which road underdog on wild Card weekend?
Most likely to pull off the upset? Danny G. Do
you agree with the masses here? It's just tightened up
a little bit even more as we get up to

(44:00):
four thousand votes. Coltscent of the vote, chargersent of the vote,
the Seahawks percent of the vote. Do you agree that
Colts are the most likely road underdog to pull off
the wind? Yeah? You know, I've been riding with the
Colts since like, what was it week eleven when you
asked us which teams you thought we think would finish

(44:21):
strong and sneak into the playoffs? And I took the
Colts as my pick. You know, I I knew the
Colts had a lot of momentum going into the last
part of the season. You could just feel it. Not
only does Andrew Luck jump off the screen the way
he zips that ball, and he looks completely healthy now,
which is pretty amazing coming off of that those surgeries
that he had and what it was just in the

(44:43):
preseason that he couldn't even hold or throw a real
sized NFL football and now to see him progress to
where he's back at now is pretty amazing. And then
their rookie sensation Darius Leonard. I was looking at his
stats yesterday. A hundred and sixty three tackles, seven sacks,
two interceptions. This dude is not even a starter in

(45:04):
the Pro Bowl. The Colts are way ahead of scheduled.
People thought that maybe two seasons from now they would
look like this. Can you imagine how they're going to
be playing at this time next year? Yeah? Especially I
think with the t Y Hilton back healthy eventually, I
mean he's been dealing with an ankle injury, hasn't been
practicing hardly at all for the last four or five weeks.
They get Ryan Kelly back on the offensive line, which

(45:25):
I think is gonna be substantial for them, uh, in
terms of a center that makes that offensive line just
even more cohesive than they already are. Uh. And I
think ultimately the game and the reason why I like
the Colts to beat the Texans outright on the road
in Houston, and I agree with a lot of people
who are voting so far in the poll, is because
of offensive line play and the the The Indianapolis Colts

(45:47):
have maybe the best offensive line in the entirety of
the NFL when it comes to protecting Andrew luck and
the Texans have the worst offensive line. I mean, Deshaun
Watson was sacked more times than hit, more time himes
than anybody else in the entirety of the NFL. I
don't think you can have a quarterback getting hit as
much as Deshaun Watson and have very much faith at

(46:08):
all in that team as they move into the postseason. Now, uh,
Eddie Garcia, you've got a little bit of knowledge on
on this team. I know you went on the road
and you were in London watching them play against the
Titans like I was. Uh, the Chargers, that is um,
and you've got season tickets to this team. They are
the second most likely team according to this UH this

(46:29):
poll to pull off the road upset again, thirty one
percent of you saying the Colts are the most likely
to pull off the road upset over the Texans twenty
nine percent of you saying the Chargers are more likely
to pull off the road upset against the Ravens. The
reason why I also agree with this, And by the way,
I'm betting on all the road underdogs this weekend, So

(46:50):
just go ahead and take my picks if you have
any faith in them at all. I'm on the Colts,
I'm on the Chargers, I'm on the Seahawks, and I'm
on the Eagles. Last year, all four underdogs covered in
the wild Card round of the playoffs, and last year
the underdogs went ten and one against the number in
the NFL Playoffs in the eleven games, six and five outright.

(47:13):
So if you had just blindly bet underdogs, you would
have won a ton of money in the off season
last year, and you would have gone four and oh
in wild card weekend. I'm taking all four underdogs, but
I actually like the Chargers as the most likely team
to pull off a road upset. And the reason is
thirty seven year old Philip Rivers played his worst game

(47:35):
of the season against the Ravens a couple of weeks
ago in l A. I don't think he's gonna play
that poorly again. The Chargers are seven and one on
the road. They've effectively been playing road games all year.
I don't think they're gonna be impacted in a negative
way by the environment in Baltimore, and so I think
Philip Rivers will play much more like his average game,

(47:58):
which has been a very good game all season. I think, ultimately,
Lamar Jackson will be exposed in the pocket. I think
this Chargers defense will be able to stop him from
consistently running the football, which is why I like the
Chargers most of all to pull off an upset in
the wild card weekend of the NFL. Eddie Garc, I
think you're with me. I absolutely do not disagree with you.

(48:19):
H yeah, you're right. I think they clearly have the
better quarterback in this matchup. As you mentioned, six game
road winning streak for the Chargers, they enjoy playing away
from home. And let's not forget the Ravens very easily
could have lost their Caesar finale at home in a
must win situation against the Browns. Cleveland had that Lamar
Jackson fumble which they returned for a touchdown and called

(48:42):
a touchdown, and then they ended up giving the ball
of the Browns, but they ended up punting after that,
so they had a score that was taken off the board. Uh.
You know the weather, it's gonna be fifty four degrees um,
But I don't think that's you know, uh for a
team coming from l A to the East Coast. I mean,
fifty four is not going to be something I inc
is that gonna be any snow or anything like that.
No rain in the forecast, so I don't think there's

(49:04):
gonna be a you know, a much of a weather
advantage for the Ravens as well. So I I think
if I'm picking that the Chargers are the team that's
gonna get the UH the road up said the most
over anyone else. Yeah, you know, and again this is
a really tight vote. You can go vote at Clay
Travis on Twitter, hop in and let us know what
you think. Will continue to update you as we move
down the stretch of the show up. Next, we'll ask

(49:25):
Jeff short to what he thinks former eight year NFL
offensive lineman, his brother Mitchell is on the offensive line
for the Kansas City Chiefs. Who does he think the
Chiefs would have the worst match up with? UH? As
you look at some of these potential games, would it
be the Colts, would it be the Chargers, would it
be potentially who knows the Ravens. Which team does he

(49:46):
think Kansas City would not want to face? And who
does he think will advance? And UH? And when? In
wild Card weekend we'll discuss all that and more. And
if you're out there listening right now and you're thinking, Hey,
you know what, maybe I like all four of these
underdogs as well. And you're thinking where could I get

Especially We've got Jeff Shorts and lined up to join
us and break down NFL wild Card weekend. But first
let me go ahead and bring in Eddie Garca find
out what shake in the world of sports. Let's check
out the results on the hardwood. First, in the NBA
game that I definitely in Oakland, where the Rockets and

(51:55):
Warriors go toe to toe James Harden a big game
for Houston, get at three point at the end of regulations,
ended into overtime, then in overtime at the game winning
three pointer with a second to play to give the
Rockets the one thirty five, one thirty four overtime victory.
Hard And finished with a triple double forty four points,
ten rebounds, fifteen assists. Fifth straight game he's gone for
forty or more points and Houston's won five in a row.

(52:15):
Spurs over the Raptors to one oh seven. Kawhi Leonard
first game back in San Antonio, he had twenty one points,
but the man he was traded for, Damar de Rosen
for San Antonio, gets his first career triple double twenty
fourteen rebounds, eleven assist leading the Spurs to thee oh
seven victory. Nuggets over the King's won seventeen one thirteen.
Denver best record in the West now at twenty six

(52:36):
and eleven College basketball five ranked teams in action, including
number two Michigan Wolverines, improved a fourteen and on the
season with one over Penn State. A couple of mild
upsets at the bottom end of the top twenty five
out of the Big ten. Minnesota beats number twenty two
Wisconsin on the road, two trips up number twenty five
Iowa eighty six to seventy wins for number eighteen NC State,
and number twenty one Indiana will be backed out Kick

(52:58):
the Coverage in ten seconds. First, a word from spot
from farmers. From a dog accidentally flooding a living room
to a dog taking a joy ride, We've covered it.
Talk to farmers. We know a thing or two. Because
we've seen a thing or two. We are farmers under
written my farmers truck fire insurance, exchanges and affiliates, products
unavailable in every state. Mc claint, Travis and the OutKick

(53:19):
the Cover Studios. We are indeed. Good stuff is always
from Eddie Garcia here in the Geico Outkicks Studios, where
it's easy to say fift cent or more on car
insurance with Geico to Geico dot com or call eight
nine four seven auto. The only hard part figuring out
which way is easier. He's a former eight year NFL
offensive alignment uh and his brother plays currently is the
right tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs. But I want

(53:41):
to start with this, Jeff Schwortz, I don't know if
you stayed up for it. I'm guessing the answer is no,
because it didn't end til Like I don't know. One
am on the on the East coast. Have you thought
you're a guy who grew up in l A. Have
you thought about what you're gonna do? I know you're
a fan of the NBA when it gets to the
playoffs too, now that Lebrons on the West coast, have
you thought about what you're gonna do during NBA playoffs?

(54:03):
Great question? Um, not really, because you know, let's I'm
covering the NBA. Like if I do some some radio
and other stations, and you know we'll cover the NBA, then, um,
I will probably find a way to watch it, whether
I watch a condenser. Now, NBA dot Com has a
good condenser versus plus. Did you know you can go
on like, you know, YouTube and type in you know,

(54:26):
Rockets Warriors recap and they'll be like a seven eight
minute recap sole but together that that's actually a good
tool for for those who want to catch up on
like late West Coast football games. If you just go
in the next morning, they'll they'll they'll put together a
fifteen minute so we'll put there like a fifteen minute
basically condense version of the game. You can catch up
pretty quickly on. So I'll do that. I mean, when
the Giants were in the World Series, I'm a Giants

(54:47):
baseball fan. Um, you know most of the teams started
to eight o'clock, but even you know, some of the
divisional round stuff and the CS stuff. Um, I would
watch the first seven innings that the Giants are up
a couple of runs, I just go to bet and
hope they hope that they they won the game. Um,
but I'm not same up till one in the morning.
It's crazy, I know, especially for Rockets fans, for instance,

(55:10):
who wanted to watch this game. The game did not
tip off until Central time in Houston five on the
East Coast. So I mean you're talking about a game.
I mean, like it's just crazy. And now that the
you know, center of influence. I know there's a lot
of good teams in the Eastern Conference in the NBA,
but with Lebron with the Lakers, and obviously with the

(55:32):
continuing drama surrounding the Golden State Warriors, the focal point.
I feel like if the NBA in general is on
the West coast, but it's just so hard for the
East Coast, and obviously with early morning radio we started
six am Eastern. I stayed up last night to watch
that big James Harden shot because I had a lot
of money on it, writing from my locket in guarantee.
But also I feel like it's hard to talk about

(55:53):
a game if you didn't actually watch it, and it's
even harder to bet on them. So I'm already trying
to think about what I'm gonna do when the playoffs
that really gets going in the NBA will be our
lead every day, but that's in the future. Right now,
we have got the wild card round of the NFL
playoffs going on, and I asked on my poll question,
I said, who's most likely to pull off the upset
um of the of the four underdog teams, obviously all

(56:16):
on the road thousands of people hopping in to vote
so far Colts, Seahawks, Chargers, Eagles are are the match
up there and right now the Colts are winning our
our poll with over five thousand people having voted, Colts
getting thirty two percent of the vote, Chargers twenty eight
percent of the vote. Seahawks Eagles bringing up the rear

(56:38):
at four team percent. Which of those teams do you
think is the most likely to win outright as the
road underdog this weekend? I mean the Cults are hardly
considered the road underdog. I mean there are one point
underdog at this moment. They already been detecting, so I
wouldn't consider that a big upset. I didn't go with
the Chargers at at plus three here against the against
the Ravens leads you out right win. So look, they

(56:59):
played just three weeks ago and in that game, the
Ravens offense at sixteen points. That was it. I know,
we focus a lot on that offense and help people
think it's gonna sustain. How cool it is they're doing
this other stuff, but they really have not played terribly
well the last couple of weeks. Twenty points against Tampa
Bay at home, and Tampa was allowing as futty points
a game on the road, and then they scored sixteen

(57:20):
and Sandy ands me in Los Angeles, and then even
last week against the Browns, the first the first four
drives that had twenty points, the next seven points, so
what is out? They're kind of done? Uh, and then
flip side Um, you know on defense. On defense, yes,
they're they're very good. But here's the thing when you
have a rematch like this three weeks later, especially one

(57:40):
that's not in the division, um, is that you know
the charters now know Okay, they're gonna play a lot
of man coverage. They're gonna blitz the running back, and
that's what the three of their stacks and they're having stacks.
We're blitzing the running back. They's attacking the running back
and past protection. So these things can be changed because
they look the Ravens. Why would they change what they did?

(58:00):
It works great. There are a lot of ten points
uh in that game, So not gonna change very much
of what they did. So it gives the commag evantage
towards the Chargers. And lastly, the Chargers have won in Pittsburgh,
in Kansas City, in Seattle this year, so they play
much better away from whatever you want to call that
home stuff up center. Um, And so I didn't I
didn't win this game. They've actually been I think seven

(58:20):
and one to uh these ten am Pacific kickoffs audies,
So I think they win this game out right. Who
has the most pressure on them of all of the
teams that are playing on wild Card weekend. My fifth
theory is is the Dallas Cowboys because they've only won
three playoff games since Dak Prescott obviously is the number
one overall seed. In their rookie year, the Cowboys lost

(58:43):
to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. I think
Russell Wilson and the Seahawks are going to roll into
town pull off the upset in Dallas. But I feel
like Dak has the most pressure on him because he's
got that hundred million plus contract hanging out there. If
they win a playoff game, it would be almost impossible
for for Jerry Jones not to extend them. But if

(59:03):
they lose, the litany of failures continue to grow for
the Cowboys. Since Dak has a little bit of a
romo factor rolling, then he'd be oh into in the playoffs.
That would hang over his head a little bit as
a young quarterback, the fact that he had never won
a playoff game. What do you think about that possibility
as them being the number one pressure pack situation here

(59:26):
with the Cowboys, Well, yeah, he'd be. He'd be owing
to home games to playoffs, even losing a road game. No,
excuse me. I think there is a good amount of
pressure on him. Um, maybe even nationally, I don't think
internally in the building there will be it. And they
love Dak Prescott, I mean even till last week for
whatever reason, they kept him in that whole game, which

(59:47):
was so stupid. But they want to get him in
a rhythm and he's going to get him confident. Um.
You know, the guy in Dallas were saying they wanted
just to see him be able to be in more
of an open offense, and I was like, great, well,
that's not what you're gonna run. Same thing as the
Seahawks or Saturday Night, I should say, You're not gonna
run an open off as you run your boring, bland
offense you've been running for the last couple of years.
So um yeah, probably probably nationally. But I'll tell you what,

(01:00:11):
I think Philip Rivers has got to start kind of doing.
How having a playoff resume right for the Hall of
Fame I think I think I think for personally, he
probably puts the most pressure on himself. This is probably
close to the end for him as far as being
able to compete. This window he has right now with
this team he doesn't have the Super bowls that Big

(01:00:31):
Ben or Eli has. He has the numbers, but doesn't
have the playoff victories, and that's gonna haunt him. Maybe
when it gets you know, get time to choose, uh,
you know, if he's gonna make the Hall of Famer,
I think he should make the Hall of Fame. But
I think personally there's a lot of pressure on Philip Rivers.
I do think nationally the probably is a lot of
pressure on Dak Prescott. The Bears. Mitch Drabinski obviously never
won a playoff game, never played in a playoff game.

(01:00:52):
Nick Foles was on a role last year won the
Super Bowl. The Eagles go on the road against the Bears.
I want to start with this question for you, if
you were a g M, how much money would you
be willing to give Nick Foles if you needed a quarterback.
I can't figure this out. So you know, he was
a good starter with Chip Kelly, right that one year

(01:01:15):
with Chip. Otherwise, he hasn't done much in his current
even at times when he's been a start with the Eagles,
he hasn't done very much. But he's gone six and
oh and and must win games for the Eagles. Right,
he won the three playoff games last year, he won
the three games this year they had to win to
make the playoffs. Um. I don't know what it is
about him. I think that a little bit with the
offense is that, you know, Carson Wentz has that big arm.

(01:01:37):
He thinks he can make it. We throw and he
tries to do a little bit too much, where Nick
Foles just does what they tell him to do. Hey,
this guy is gonna be open here in seven yards
and he hits him pointing simple um. Otherwise I can't
explain it. So I don't know how he would do.
Look if he goes to Jacksonville, let's say doesn't have
the play caller in in in Doug Peterson, doesn't have um,
some of the offensive line he hasn't still eat. I mean,

(01:01:58):
I'll send an offensive line doesn't have the wide receivers
he has. I don't know if he's gonna be. He
doesn't have Earth's right, you know, it has the most
receptions ever for a tight end or at least closet
at least he gets close to the most. Um, I
don't know how he's gonna be. I don't I don't
know if you could do it. Someone's gonna do it, right,
someone's gonna trade for him or throwing him a lot
of money. But we've seen that very rarely do backup

(01:02:21):
quarterbacks like that Jimmy Garoppolo become a success story later
in their careers. Um, even Aaron Rodgers, you want to say,
but you know, he didn't played very much the first
couple of years. We even though we had Aaron Rodgers
and then he became a star. I mean, it just
it doesn't happen very often where we kind of know
we have film on the backup quarterback and then he's

(01:02:42):
great in one system and then he leaves and becomes
great in the second system. It doesn't really happen like that.
So someone's gonna do it, because you know, we we
talked about Mariota in the Titans quarterback situation, there's just
there's not a lot of quarterbacks this year, and the
draftical king at Dwayne Haskins and Will Greer. Maybe it's
the guy from Uh, there's not a lot of there's

(01:03:04):
not a lot of guarantees now that that draft looks
like it could be really stocked with quarterbacks. But to
your point, the only two quarterbacks to leave as free agents,
leave as free agents and win Super Bowls. And I'm
not counting Kurt Warner here because you know, he kind
of came out of nowhere to end up winning a
Super Bowl with the Rams. But Drew Brees, who had

(01:03:26):
an injured shoulder and people questioned whether or not his
career would be over, including I'm sorry Dolphin fans, UH
doctors who made the decision to go with Dante Culpepper
instead of Drew Brees famously, which sent Nick Saban ultimately
to Alabama and Drew Brees onto Super Bowl win at
New Orleans and maybe another one this year. And then
Peyton Manning, who was coming off surgery released by the Colts,

(01:03:47):
went on his tour uh and ended up winning a
Super Bowl with the with the Broncos. Only two guys
who've done it in a modern era. And so to
your point, like, hey, is Nick Foles gonna be that
guy who uh ends up as a as a free
agent starter and then goes and wins another Super Bowl? Wow,
that would be an incredible story. But so far, Drew
Brees and Peyton Manning are the only two guys who've

(01:04:08):
done it, and those are Hall of Famers, right, and Breeze.
Breeze wasn't a Hall of Famer when he when he
was when he was picked up by the Saints. But
Peyton Manning wasn't. He was picked up by the Broncos already.
So those are guys off the injury. Yeah, it's interesting
about frateancies. He looked just a fready to see it
in totality, man Um, not a lot of real value.

(01:04:28):
You know, we we signed a lot of guys to
these big contracts and they don't turn out to be
Pro Bowlers. Are all pros very often. I mean my
brother in Kansas City, I think is is where it
turns out to be great. They I'm a good deal
and he's been the best right tackle in the NFL
for three years. Um. But most often, look at all
the guys that signed the fratency this past year, how
many of them have have really helped their team when

(01:04:50):
playoff games? Get to the playoffs, A lot of these guys, um,
just it doesn't pan out. The way to build your
team now is to draft your guys and signed them
to extend because then, yeah, you added a Fraser pieces
maybe here and there at lower value deals. But a
lot of these monster phrasing contracts, the teams are winning
with them. No, you're right, all right, Um, we we're

(01:05:13):
just talking about Nick Foles in in his situation. I
gotta know what your thoughts are on Antonio Brown Like
this to me is, first of all, it's an incredible story,
and I wish the Steelers were in the postseason just
because I would love to see what's gonna happen with
the dynamics internally in the locker room. How would you
handle this if you are a GM is question one

(01:05:36):
and you had to deal with Antonio Brown? And then
question two is what do you think the locker room
thinks of Antonio Brown? I'm sure you've been around disruptive
guys before. How do you think they respond to him?
Especially because again, Antonio Brown's turning thirty one in uh
this spring. I think in May. He's not that young

(01:05:57):
of a dude anymore. Right, When you're throwing fit like
this and not showing up for a game, and it's
not financial related, it doesn't appear because he's very well compensated.
It's not like leving On Bell like where the feud
is over whether or not he's well compensated. How do
you handle this? So you know, I played with a
guy like Steve Smith, right, and Steve Smith was maybe disruptive,

(01:06:19):
but I'll tell you what. He came every Sunday to
play and he played it very well every Sunday, right.
I mean that's what he did. So you can excuse
him behavior because you know he's gonna come to come be,
you know, come to your guy on Sunday. And he
was always ready to play that day and he played
his butt off and it was an amazing competitor and
and he'll be in the Hall of Fame one day.
And you know, yeah, the situation where it's a must

(01:06:41):
win game, he doesn't well whatever, he gets to argue
with band, he doesn't go to meeting, doesn't do whatever.
But when he was shocking about all that, Clay was,
the Steelers still expected him to play because they're putting
if they're putting up with this, with this behavior from
their star player, of course the star player is going
to do it because they expected team and nothing about it.
I mean if I had played on you know, Tom Coughlin,

(01:07:03):
I think kind of would be never would have even
been in the he would be suspend it never would
have been near near the near the locker room on
game day. Um. And I think it's those to a
bigger issue with the Steelers and just dysfunction in the facility.
And they've had this for a while, I think. And
then when you lose, it really really really boils over
you and you've got Big Ben blaming everyone but himself,

(01:07:24):
you know he then you throw interceptions to the d
tackle in in Denver, you know the last play of
the game, right, well, that was you. That was no
one else. That was you. Um, you know, laying one
of distraction and talked to Antonio Brown and some people
under the bus all says, I go back to something
that was then I think people had forgotten about and
this is kind of it shows you, I think a
little bit of dysfunction that they can't set the things

(01:07:46):
out so you remember all the way back now was
what it was last season or two season agoing Um,
the president s ob comments and everyone and all the
teams decided to do something right. Whether it was stay
in the locker room for the anthem, which is what
your your titians did, or to see box did, or
whether it was taking me before the anthem like the
Cowboys did or taking me during the anthem, right we
everyone kind of had their own thing, right except one team,

(01:08:09):
the Steelers. The students couldn't figure out as a team
what to do. Remember that they were gonna stay in
the tunnel. But then Andrewville in the wave and came
out the former Army ranger left tackle and and he
put his hand over his heart for the anthem, and
then the rest of teams stayed in the tunnel, and
then he had to apologize for that. The Big Ben
wrote a letter about the way that just went down.
And then people talk to me like the only thing

(01:08:30):
that couldn't figure out, and at that point actually wrote
about it, said this is not good because everyone else
figured out thirty one other teams figured out how to
do it, but the Steelers, and they kept winning, so
it didn't matter that just function didn't matter. To keep
winning doesn't matter. But now you're not winning at all.
Bubbles to the top, So what do they do? But
Antonio Brown, what he's like, he's uncoutible. The dead money
is not worth it and matters, um, you know what

(01:08:52):
you want to do. In the trade market, who's gonna
trade for him? What value that's gonna be and whether
or not you're willing to get rid of a really
important piece and you're off, it's him and leaving on
down the same offseason. Um no, you tube being there
helps obviously take a transition to that. But I don't
know how you give him on your team. But then again,
if you if you you're rid of him, then he
wins in this situation. So, um, if someone comes and

(01:09:14):
tries to give a couple of first round draft picks,
you gotta do it. But otherwise I don't think they
trade them. Number one teams that are sitting out there
right now waiting. You've got the Kansas City Chiefs in
the a f C. You have got the New England,
the New Orleans Saints in the NFC. Who do you
think your brother plays on the Chiefs? Who do you
think the Chiefs would most like to see? There are

(01:09:36):
three teams they could potentially play, right, they could play
against the Ravens, they could play against the Chargers, and
they could play against the Colts, depending on what the
outcome of wild card weekend is. Who do you think
the Chiefs would most like to see? Probably the Chargers
are most familiar with them. Um, Andy Reid is one.
I think like nine of twelve matchups against the Chargers. Now, um,

(01:10:00):
they won nine in a row until they lost that
game a couple of weekends ago, So a couple of
Thursdays ago, whatever it was. Um, I think they'd rather
scy having. They're very similiar with them. They know what
they're gonna do. There's no surprises. Um, you know, yeah
they have They're a balanced team. They're a good team.
But you know what you're getting with them, right. Um,
the Ravens did the defense to about out the run game.

(01:10:21):
Two things that Chiefs, um, you know might have trouble with,
you know, the Ravens defense and their run game. And
remember that game, you know it's had a couple of
amazing plays for Pat Mahomes for the Chiefs to even
be in that game fourth and nine, he that was
pretty incredible. Another fourth down plays, So, um, it feels
like that would be tough. And the Colts, man, the
Colts can. They're good. They have a great offensive line,

(01:10:43):
they can play defense. We overlooked that defense because of
that offense. They are one of the best teams in
the red zone. Uh, they play like man coverage and
they allow a lot of checkdowns, but they don't allow
a lot of deep plays because they just played good,
solid defense. Um and yeah, two, heus a little bangs
up and there might not be the weapons that Luck
wants from the edge. But Andrew Luck is a stud man.

(01:11:05):
I mean he carves up your your time's the other
day again. Um, and he is so good. So I
don't think they want to see the Colts. Plus, there's
just bad history with the Colts in the playoffs. Who
do you think the Saints want to see? Like, let's
assume that the Eagles don't win and we get that
Rams Bears matchup again in l A. Do you think
the Saints would prefer to see the Cowboys, who they

(01:11:26):
lost to thirteen to ten on the road in Dallas
or do you think they would rather see the Seahawks. Um,
I'd rather playing the Cowboys. I just think that there's
the Seahawks and Wilson are just always dangerous, right, They've
been in the situation before. They're not gonna be They're
not gonna be worried about playing in New Orleans and
that noise, that environment. Um, and he's just such a

(01:11:48):
good quarterback. He can use his legs and bi all situations,
be able to move around and get first downs. And
if it was the best deep all in the NFL,
UM and and that secondary has approved all year, I
think I would worry me more than Dallas. I'm not
I'm not high on Dallas. UM. I think they have
to go into the Dome. It's gonna be much different
day game than obviously. The game played on was a

(01:12:09):
weekend for Thanksgiving when they shut down, it says, but
they only scored thirteen points offensively. I think if they
would love to see the Rams, I would imagine the
NC championship game, because they've already buoyed up once and
they'll do it again. I can't see the Things losing
at home at all. They're five and on the playoffs
at home, UM, and they're gonna be In my opinion, Derek,
they're the best team I guess the team I feel

(01:12:30):
most comfortable in any of the conferences making the Super Bowl.
Outstanding stuff. As always, Jeff Schwartz, We'll talk to you
next weekend. Thanks for sitting in on some of the
holidays as well. Uh, and enjoy the games this weekend, alright,
Thank you. That's Jeff Schwartz. Go follow him on Twitter.

You want a tough, tough headline for the Animal Thunderdome,

(01:13:48):
how about this one Safari ranger trampled to death bisexually
charged elephant not the way you want to go. A
sexually charged elephant broke into a game park in South
Africa and trampled a top Safari ranger in a fatal rampage.
According to reports, Mark at Wotton Back, a thirty three

(01:14:09):
year old guy died at Leopard Rock Lodge after a
thirteen thousand pound the elephant crushed him. Officials blame the
male elephants aggressive behavior on the animal being in a
heightened state of sexual tension known as must I don't
know exactly what that is. Witnesses said the elephant broke
through the fence and into the lodge is tourist area.

(01:14:31):
The animal repeatedly trampled the season safari rangers. He tried
to steer the elephant away from park visitors. Uh, that
is a tough way to go. I don't want to
get killed by an elephant. Definitely don't want to get
killed by a sexually charged elephant. I don't know what
else to say. Tough break there. It seems like the
Safari guys are always getting killed. And speaking of getting killed,

(01:14:55):
I got this from a ton of you awayan got
out of its enclosure. This is in North Carolina. A
lion got out of its enclosure and killed a woman Sunday.
This was what Sunday. This is right before New Year's
over the weekend. H Alexandra Black. She was only twenty
two years old. She was from Indiana, recently graduated from

(01:15:19):
I you Uh. She'd been working at the wat at
the Conservatore Center for about two weeks. Center said it
happened while a husbandry team uh was carrying out a
routine enclosure cleaning. One of the lions somehow left a
locked space, went to where the humans were and killed
this woman. They had to shoot the lion. The lion

(01:15:40):
that killed was one of the male lions. Nobody knows
how it got out. I mean, this is just an
awful story. Uh. The animal thunderdome strikes in North care A, Lina. Alright,
those are two stories that I had saved. What have
you got for me? Danny g Alright. A two year
old girl was injured out of Florida Zoo during a
private rhino encounter experience. The toddler and her family were

(01:16:04):
taking part in this close up experience with white rhinos
at the Reverd Zoo in Melbourne, Florida, this past Tuesday.
The girl came in contact with the animals. The family
of three were given access to feel the brush of
the rhinos while supervised by two zookeepers. But here's a problem.
They were only separated from the animals by steal posts,

(01:16:26):
and at some point the toddler wedged through the posts
and got into the rhino's yard. The distance between the
posts is about eleven inches. They say. The two female
rhinos approached the toddler, the snout of one of them
made contact with the child, and she got bumped. She
is gonna be okay, But another zoo story gone bad.

(01:16:47):
I guarantee you it's the dad's fault. I don't know
how it happened, but if you're a this is like
when it happened. Here's the death. The beginning of the
second paragraph. The child's father, who was holding on to
her throughout the incident, Yeah, said, you're right, I said,
you know, as soon as you hear that story, it's
always dad's faults. Like when the when the kid, remember
the kid got into the guerrilla enclosure robe up in Cincinnati.

(01:17:10):
I think it was, and you know, like dad's responsible
for that. I mean, you just you can't even fathom
how mom could have that happen. You're hanging out with
the rhinos. Next thing you know, Dad has screwed up,
and the and the two year olds getting headbutted by
a rhino and your wife is standing there like I
told you to keep an eye on her, and you're like, well,
what's gonna happen, you know, like it's not like she's

(01:17:31):
gonna get in the rhino enclosure. And then she got
in the rhino enclosure, all right, And uh, a light
story here to end off. As we go into a
fun weekend. A New York squirrel has went viral thanks
to somebody's video of the roadent sitting in a tree
and feasting on a whole egg roll. The video, originally

(01:17:51):
tweeted by the user at what is n y, shows
the squirrel sitting on the tree with an entire egg
roll in his hand. It's almost the size of the squirrel.
It's pretty crazy. He's just sitting there, chilling, eating this
egg roll. And the guy tweeted out doesn't look like
this squirrel's first egg roll. Not clear on how this
squirrel managed to get this egg ril clay, but everybody

(01:18:14):
in New York now they're calling us the egg rolls squirrel.
I'll tweet this out at Danny G Radio. The picture
is pretty amazing. It almost looks like somebody photoshopped it.
I saw the picture. The picture is unbelievable of the
squirrel eating the egg roll in New York City. All Right,

little bit bleary eyed this morning because I stayed up
last night to watch the best sporting event of the evening,
and that was the Houston Rockets on the road against
the Golden State Warriors. If you did not stay up
to watch it, I can certainly understand why you wouldn't
have if you're somewhere in the Eastern or Central time zone.
The United States game didn't tip off till around Central

(01:20:06):
time ten forty five Eastern on the East Coast. Game
didn't en til after one am on the East Coast
until nearly after midnight on the year, until after midnight
in Central time zone. Because it went into overtime, and
then overtime there was maybe the blown call of the year.
If you haven't seen this highlight, you need to just

(01:20:27):
go track it down and watch it. Uh. Kevin Durants
trying to save the ball as it goes out of bounds.
He literally runs along the out of bounds uh, out
out of bounds, like right along the baseline, and then
he leaps to save the ball, but he's got possession
of the ball with both of his feet out of bounds.

(01:20:47):
He never comes back inbounds to even establish his feet
in put in the in the on the court, so
both feet are out of bounds. He scoop saves it,
throws it back on the court. I don't know how
the NBA officials missed it. Uh. The ball is caught
by Steph Curry, and Steph Curry dribbles in makes a
jumper to put the Warriors up too, and that sets

(01:21:10):
the stage for some incredible heroism from James Harden, who
is playing out of his mind basketball right now. Down
the stretch, the Houston Rockets are down to and this
is what it sounded like on t N T Gerald
gran during Brown Harden trying to get free down to
down to turn. It's a free, good good James hard

(01:21:36):
enough fighting for incredible shot. Rockets by one with one
second ago. Now. I was staying up late to watch
this partially because I had made this game my mustache
blood bank guarantee combo. If you haven't watched the lock
it in lately or haven't watched one of my videos

(01:21:57):
on Periscope or Facebook. I had to gave my beard
over Marcus Mariota not playing. I did not guarantee that
I would shave my mustache. So I've got a pretty
substantial mustache that I've been rocking all week. And so
I broke that one out for everybody out there to
let them know game of the night. Make sure you
jump on this in a big way. So I was
staying up late, uh, to make sure that I watched it.

(01:22:20):
The Rockets are on fire. I believe they're now eleven
and one in their last twelve ten one and one
against the number James Harden has been playing out of
his mind, averaging over thirty eight points a game or
whatever the heck it is. He went over forty overtime
when the Warriors blow a twenty point lead against the Rockets, who,

(01:22:40):
like I said, have been absolutely on fire. That was
one story last night that happened in the NBA. The
other one Kawhi Leonard returned to San Antonio and when
he was introduced, let's just say there are not a
lot of happy people in San Antonio about the way
that Kauai Leonard relationship ended. Kauai returns with the Toronto

(01:23:00):
Raptors when he has introduced this is what it sounded
like in San Antonio. Six six scars from North Carolina,
number four teens, Janny Green said to Leonard. And it's
interesting because Danny Green obviously is a former Spur. So
the juxtaposition there. On the one hand, people were happy

(01:23:23):
to have Danny greenback, they cheered him. On the other hand,
they were not happy to have Kawhi Leonard back. And
when he was shooting free throws, they actually chanted Trader.
Here's that audio, the chance of Trader coming down on
Kawhi Leonard as he heads to the free throw line.

(01:23:45):
That's about It's kind of hard to tell exactly what
they were saying, but that's what was being said. That's
about as ugly as a home court return as I
can remember. Now, at least for Kauai Leonard. He is
in uh the Eastern Conference, so there aren't that many
games between Toronto and San Antonio. If hes up going
out to l A, which seems to be the expectation,
then obviously he would play a lot more games against

(01:24:05):
the Spurs. But the Spurs in that Gregg Popovich era
got so used to the Tim Duncans of the world
kind of subsuming their individual ego to be a part
of the Spurs dynasty, the Spurs franchise under Popovich, and
then to have Kauahi Leonard and to a certain extent,
Tony Parker, although it was the end of Tony Parker's career,
suddenly break ranks and bail on the franchise, I think

(01:24:28):
was was a challenge for a lot of people in
San Antonio. So those were the two biggest stories of
the night in the world of sports. If you're just
waking up and starting off your morning with us, as
I know many of you are. UM. Also, obviously massive
game going on, uh, A ton of games going on
in the world of the NFL. Four wild Card games,

(01:24:51):
four wild card games coming up this weekend. Um, and
you've got all four of the visiting teams as underdogs.
And so our poll question is which road underdog on
wild Card weekend is most likely to pull off the upset?
Giving you an opportunity to go vote and share your
opinion over what it's a ten thousand of you have
voted since we put up this poll question about an

(01:25:13):
hour and a half ago. You can find it on
Twitter at Clay Travis. The Colts are the favorite on
wild Card weekend to pull off the upset, although as
I am looking right now at the most recent line,
this is moving towards a straight pick um. Right now,
the Colts are a one point underdog against the Houston

(01:25:34):
Texans as I am speaking to you right now and
looking at the latest on the numbers, the Seattle Seahawks
are a two point underdog against the Dallas Cowboys. The
Chargers are Let's see what the latest is on the Chargers.
The Chargers are right around a two point underdog two

(01:25:54):
and a half. It's fluctuating a little bit there, and
the Eagles are sticking right at a six point underdog
on the road against the Bears. So we asked which
road underdog on wild Card weekend most likely to pull
off the upset, Colts getting thirty two percent of your vote,
the Chargers getting twenty eight percent, the Seahawks getting twenty

(01:26:15):
six percent of your vote, and the Eagles getting fourteen
percent of your vote as the underdog on wild Card
weekend most likely to pull off the upset now, last
year on wild Card weekend all four wild card teams covered.
All four wild card teams covered and went four and oh.
In fact, in the NFL playoffs in general, the underdog
went ten and one against the number and UH six

(01:26:38):
and five straight up in terms of the outcome. So
my favorite bet, I like the Colts to win on
the road against the Texans for sure. I think ultimately
the deciding factor there will be the offensive line of
the Colts and their ability to protect Andrew Luck versus
the offensive line of the Houston Texans, which has allowed

(01:26:58):
the most sacks and the most it's on Deshaun Watson.
Ryan Kelly is coming back for the Colts their center.
I think that is gonna lead to more success for
the Indianapolis Colts. I think they will win outright on
the road at Houston, as they did a couple of
weeks ago. Uh. In terms of the Chargers traveling across
the country to play in Baltimore. I like the Chargers

(01:27:18):
to win out right. Why do I like the Chargers
to win out right? If you watch the game between
the Chargers and the Ravens a couple of weeks ago,
Philip Rivers played his worst game of the season, and
even with that happening. The Chargers had the ball driving
to potentially win the game when Antonio Gates fumbles and
it's scooped and scored by the Baltimore Ravens. Lamar Jackson

(01:27:40):
had his best game of the season against the Chargers.
I think both of those that quarterbacks will return to
their average performance over the course of the season, meaning
Philip Rivers will outperform Lamar Jackson by a substantial margin.
I like the Chargers to win this game outright on
the road against the Ravens. I also like the Seahawks

(01:28:01):
to go on the road and win against the Dallas Cowboys.
Why do I like the Seahawks. I like the Seahawks
because I like Russell Wilson more than I do Dak Prescott,
and also because the Seahawks have an even better rushing
attack than the Dallas Cowboys do. The Seahawks are susceptible
a bit in the secondary. Maybe a Mari Cooper can
make plays. I just don't trust Dak in the pocket

(01:28:23):
compared to Russell Wilson in the pocket. Russell Wilson has
been there before. He has played in all these big
games a certain amount, a massive amount compared to Dak Prescott.
I think Seattle goes on the road, gets the win
in Dallas, and I like all three of those teams
to pull off the outright upset the Chargers, the Seahawks,

(01:28:44):
and the um Houston the Indianapolis Colts to beat the
Houston Texans. In the fourth game, the Bears against the Eagles.
Six points is too many and what I expect to
be a low scoring game, but I do think the
Bears find a way to win. Seventeen I think is
the final in that one. And uh, I think the

(01:29:05):
Bears will get to win and then advance to play
against the l A Rams, who are sitting back waiting
for redemption after they were whipped in that game earlier
in the season on the road against the Bears. Those
are my predictions. Again, I like the Chargers, I like
the Colts, I like the I like the Eagles, and uh,

(01:29:26):
I like who else is out there the Seahawks to
pull off the upset three of those teams. I like
to go on the road and win outright. If you
want to play him on the money line as opposed
to just the line in general, all that will discuss
a bit more. To close out the show, UH, and
you can continue to vote in which of those UH
upsets you think is most likely to happen in the
wild card round of the playoffs. But up next, we're

(01:29:48):
gonna be joined by Petros Papadagus. We will talk with
him about that Chargers game. What does he feel like
their chances are as they travel across the coast to
take on the Ravens. We will also talk with him
a about Lebron James sitting out, what the vibe was
from Russell Westbrook coming into town, going three for twenty,
still managing to get to win a couple of nights
ago against Oklahoma City. Next seven games for the Lakers

(01:30:11):
are against teams with losing records, How long will it
be to Lebron James comes back, and how confident is
Petro's Papadakis in the Rams. Plus, maybe we'll talk a
little bit about Cliff Kingsbury traveling around interviewing as an
NFL head coach. Does Petros think he will stay with
the Southern California Trojans or is this gonna be yet
another shot against the future of Clay Helton. All that

(01:30:33):
and more with my guy Petros Papadekas set to join

I gotta watch her Netflix special by the way, just
started at ozark Man. That show is phenomenal. I don't

(01:32:47):
get to watch during the during the regular uh, you know,
football season. I've got so much going on that it's
hard for me to catch up on a lot of
a lot of television, so I kind of pegged Ozark
as the next show that I would watch, and uh,
I'm blown away by how good it is. But I
also want to watch that Taylor Swift special um and
see how that comes off on Netflix. I haven't seen

(01:33:09):
it yet. We're here in the Geico Altkick Studios. By
the way, Petro's Papadakis in communicado right now, he's like

ahead and bring in Eddie Garcia. If you went to
bed early, you missed a heck of a game between
the Rockets and the Warriors down the stretch last night,
James Harden made maybe the shot of the year so
far in the n B a UH to win that

(01:33:53):
game in overtime. And there were other things that went
on as well, Eddie Garcia which got for me. Yeah,
but you're right, Claire. That game in Oakland was the
lead game of the night for sure. Rockets. With the
one thirty five one thirty four overtime victory over the Warriors,
James Harden hit two or three pointers, one at the
end of regulation to tie it and sent it into overtime,
and then the game winner with the second to play

(01:34:13):
in overtime. He finishes with a triple double forty four points,
ten rebounds, fifteen and says fifth straight game he's gone
for forty or more points and Houston has won five
in a row. The Spurs beat the Raptors one oh seven.
It was the return of Kawhi Leonard back to San
Antonio for the first time, of course, now with Toronto.
He had twenty one points. The man he was traded
for in the off season to Marta Rosen actually let

(01:34:35):
San Antonio the win with his first career triple double
twenty one points, fourteen rebounds and eleven assists. Nuggets, the
top team in the Western Conference, improved and eleven with
a one seventeen one thirteen win over the King's College Basketball.
Five ranked teams were in action, including number two Michigan,
who approved to fourteen and oh on the season, one
of three remaining undefeated teams in Division one college basketball.

(01:34:55):
Michigan gets the s over Penn State. A couple of
mild upsets at the bottom end the top twenty two
Wisconsin loses at home in Minnesota two and Purdue tripped
up Number twenty five Iowa eight s seventy wins from
number eighteen NC State and number one Indiana. We'll be

it's easy to say fift or more. On car insurance

(01:35:59):

is easier. I know a lot of you guys are
with me. You're very excited to watch the wild Card
weekend in the NFL coming up UH starting on Saturday
with two games, then coming up on Sunday as well.
And again our poll question that's up right now and
you can obviously go vote in it is what is
going to UH to happen? In terms of the underdogs,

(01:36:19):
who is the most likely team to pull off the upset?
The Colts are your favorite, followed by the Chargers, the
Seahawks and the Eagles all in that order. With ten
thousand of you voting so far. It's tough question because
there are at least three games that are all this
under a field goal spread. Um in that wild card round,
and in particular, the NFL has got its mojo back.

(01:36:41):
I feel like a lot of you are are like me,
and you really enjoyed the NFL this season. And it's
not just for you and me. It's also across the board,
whether it was at CBS, NBC, ESPN, or Fox. Ratings
were up five per cent for NFL games, and that's
particularly saw it considering the two prior season NFL ratings

(01:37:03):
were down nineteen percent. You might say, okay, what happened.
The NFL got its groove back. Certainly Patrick Mahomes coming
in throwing fifty touchdown passes being fun to watch. I
think Baker Mayfield, Uh, and some of the other young
guys coming into the NFL, whether it's Lamar Jackson, Sam Donald,
Josh Allen on some level, uh, Josh Rosen out in Arizona,

(01:37:24):
there were reasons to have a certain degree of optimism
about a lot of different teams. The NFL got a
swagger back. But I think in particular what the NFL
did was they realized politics was bad for business. And
and I said this on this show. If you listen
to this show early on, I gave you this information.
I said, look, they have had a meeting of the

(01:37:45):
minds in the NFL, CBS, NBC, Fox, and UM and
UH CBS, NBC, Fox, and the ESPN all got together,
all of the networks that air all of the NFL games,
and they said, we are no longer going to allow
protests and politics and things that have nothing to do

(01:38:07):
with the NFL product on the field to distract us
from the game itself. And look, there are lots of
things you can be upset about in the NFL officiating
constant issue. I would almost guarantee you that on Monday morning,
on this show and we sit down and talk about
everything that happened in the wild card round, there will
be one or two calls that will have all of

(01:38:29):
you incensed because they were made or they were not made,
because officiating swung one or two of this games, of
these games one way or the other. That wouldn't be
a surprise at all, wouldn't be a stunt at all
if that were to end up happening. And but that's good. Look,
you may not like it when officiating creates controversy, but

(01:38:51):
controversy that emerges from the on field product, even if
it was on basketball last night, Kevin Durant having both
feed out of bounds, throwing the ball back again and
Steph Curry making a jumper to beat the Rockets. Not ideal.
You want the official to get the call right. But
controversy dealing with the sport itself is good. Off Field
controversy that has nothing to do with the game themselves bad.

(01:39:14):
And so the NFL finally got this right. Television partners
finally got this right. After missing revenue projections by nearly
six hundred million dollars, after ratings were down nineteen per
cent in the wake of the Colin Kaepernick protests, finally
the NFL got back to football and guess what people
want football And as a result, the ratings have surged

(01:39:34):
back up, and almost all of the conversation has been
about the games themselves, and in particular in these games
in the wild card around you look at what is
at stake for so many of these different teams. I
think there are two quarterbacks that to me stand out
as quarterbacks that have the most at stake. Here, right,

(01:39:55):
you can look at Mitch Drabinsky. Let's let's kind of
break down these games. Mitch Drabinsky going up against Nick Foles.
Both these guys have already won. Mitch Drobiski comes in
as a high draft pick. The Bears in year two
with him are hosting a home playoff game. They went
twelve and four. Matt Naggi has already won. Uh, the

(01:40:16):
Khalil Mack trade was a tremendous success. Eddie Jackson's health
a little bit uncertain. But no matter what happens for
the Bears, they are on a trajectory of success. So
even if they were to lose to the Eagles, I
don't think Chicago Bear fans would throw up their hands
and say, oh my god, we're done for our franchises
in trouble. No, you're building in a nice way towards

(01:40:39):
the future. The Eagles, you're coming off a Super Bowl win.
This is all gravy your quarterback. Right now, Nick Foles
is set to sign a hundred million dollar contract. That
doesn't really matter at all what happens in this game
in terms of preserving his financial viability. So while look,
it's a big game on some day, the final game

(01:41:01):
of the wild card, I don't feel like there's a
lot at steak. I really don't. Colts Texans Similarly, I
don't feel like there's that much at stake. Deshaun Watson
in the playoffs in year two wins the division. I
feel like you have to be really happy about that.
DeAndre Hopkins best wide receiver maybe in all of football.

(01:41:23):
He's donating his game check for an awful murder that
happened down in UH, Texas that they are trying to
solve seven year old girl a victim. Nobody knows exactly
why it happened or what was taking place in that story,
but that is a pretty incredible storyline, maybe one of
the most incredible stories from the NFL season in general.

(01:41:45):
How good has DeAndre Hopkins been? He had a hundred
and fifteen catches this year, zero drop passes. That's how
good DeAndre Hopkins has been at the wide receiver position. Again,
Houston Texans wide out a hundred and fifty and catches
on the year, not one single dropped pass. So I

(01:42:05):
don't really feel like, hey, if Deshaun Watson loses in
year two, you won the division. I don't feel like
you can be very upset if you're the Houston Texans
UH coming back from a torn a c L Deshaun
Watson very good season. Now, look, the offensive line is
not blocked well, a lot of hits, a lot of
sacks on Deshaun Watson. But in general, I think you
have to be happy with the season. If you're a

(01:42:27):
Texans fan, Uh, same thing is true. I think if
you're a Colts fan, Andrew Luck comes back off of
injury after not playing a year down the stretch, the
Colts go nine and one if they lose to the Texans.
I still think the future of the Indianapolis Colts that
offensive line, uh, t Y Hilton, everything that's gone on
with that franchise, your great draft pick, uh Darius Leonard,

(01:42:50):
all the plays that he has made. I feel like
the trajectory is moving up. With Frank Reich in his
first year, I don't feel like the pressure is that
significant on the outcome of those games. Right, So I
just gave you two where I think the four franchises
are fine no matter what happens, Colts, Texans and Eagles Bears.
I like the Colts to beat the Texans out right,

(01:43:11):
regardless of which way that goes. I don't think either
franchise fan base should be upset. The trajectory line is
good Eagles Bears. I feel the same way. Not a
lot of negativity associated with that. I do feel like
there are two quarterbacks that are under a great deal
of pressure, all right, and the first one on Saturday night.
I think that Dak Prescott and the Seahawks game is

(01:43:33):
under an awful lot of pressure. He lost his first
home playoff game when the Cowboys were the overall number
one seed. Now Russell Wilson is coming to town. No
pressure on the Seahawks. Russell Wilson. They're rebuilding this team
around him. They found that they can run the football.
Russell Wilson phenomenal at quarterback. I believe this is off
the top of my my head. Finished with thirty two

(01:43:55):
touchdown passes against seven interceptions. Incredibly high QBR quarter back
erraading the best of Russell Wilson's career. If the Seahawks
go on the road and lose against the Cowboys, I
don't think anybody in Seattle is gonna say, my god,
we're done for By the way, great stat on Russell Wilson.
He has started every game for seven straight years. I
believe he is the only quarterback who took every snap

(01:44:18):
for his team this year. In the NFL as a
starting quarterback. Pretty impressive the durability this guy's had, particularly
when you consider his ability to extend plays with his
legs and throw on the run and move like he
does all right. Thirty five TVs against seven interceptions, pretty
pretty incredible year. So if the Seahawks lose, I don't
think Seahawks fans are gonna say, oh my god, things

(01:44:39):
are looking up looking bad? No, no, no, things are
looking very much up. You're remaking your team on the fly.
You had to replace the legion of boom uh, and
yet you were still able to win ten games and
walk in a playoff Berth, I don't think there's any
reason to be upset. Even if the Seahawks lose, Cowboys lose,
Doc would be owing two in the playoff. He would

(01:45:00):
be oh in two in the playoffs at home. There
would be a lot of question about whether or not
he is the guy that can lead the Cowboys into
the future. On the flip side, if he wins the
Dallas Cowboys fourth playoff game since then then he would
be in a kind of elite company, right And also
I think he'd get a hundred million dollar contract. So

(01:45:23):
the swing for Dak Prescott. Here goes from oh, this
guy can't win a playoff game? Is he ever gonna
win a playoff game? Because you know how Cowboys fans are,
They overreact to everything. This is the most bipolar fan
base in the NFL. If DAC wins this game against
Russell Wilson, it'll be lookout, we already beat the Saints

(01:45:45):
were legit Super Bowl contenders. If the Cowboys lose, the
question will be man, Jason Garrett and Dak Prescott are
never gonna get it done. I can't believe Jerry Jones
is gonna give Dak an extension. He can't win a
playoff game. He can't get it done. Big swing to
a substantial degree there in terms of what might happen

(01:46:06):
in that scenario. As if that were not enough, The
other quarterback with a lot at stake, Philip Rivers, thirty
seven years old, now has put up all sorts of
passing numbers in his career that are insanely impressive. I
believe he is a Hall of Fame quarterback, But what

(01:46:27):
does he not have on his resume? He has got
all of these statistics. He has had the most success
for any quarterback who has not played in a Super Bowl.
Philip Rivers has never been able to put it all
together at the right time. This is a really good
Chargers team. They're sitting at twelve and four. They could

(01:46:48):
have easily finished thirteen and three and been the overall
number one seed in the ENDA in the a f C.
And now he got to travel across the country and
they're playing against a twenty one year old quarter back
in Lamar Jackson. Philip Rivers sixteen years old when Lamar
Jackson was born thirty seven years old, going up against

(01:47:09):
twenty one year old What is going to happen in
this game of Philip Rivers and the Chargers lose. I
think there's a legitimate point that you can make. You
can sit back and say, is it ever going to
happen for Philip Rivers? Are they ever going to put
everything together with the l A Chargers and be able
to make a legitimate run at a championship, a legitimate

(01:47:32):
run to the Super Bowl. If they win, then you're
sitting around You're saying, Okay, I feel pretty good about
the Chargers ability with Philip Rivers to compete down the
stretch with either the Chiefs or the Patriots, depending on
how the playoff seatings would break out. So to me,
there are two guys as we enter into the NFL
Wild Card weekend at the quarterback position who have the

(01:47:55):
most pressure on them by far, And by the way,
let me just say this, Lamar Jackson all ready vastly
exceeded year one expectations. If he wins a playoff game
as a quarterback in this league in his rookie season,
then he's the sky is the limit for this guy, right,
So the pressure scenario here versus reward for Lamar Jackson

(01:48:17):
not that substantial. I think Raven fans would have to say,
you know what, this is an incredible debut for Lamar Jackson.
Even if he were to lose this game to Philip Rivers,
you would have to be excited about the future if
you are a Baltimore Raven fan. So I think there
are two quarterbacks here by far, out of all the
quarterbacks playing, and all the coaches and everybody else, all

(01:48:38):
the all the marbles, all the chips, all the pressure,
the proverbial guerrilla on the back is on Philip Rivers
and Dak Prescott here their success versus failure measure here
is infinitely higher. Dad gets the win, everything changes for
him as a Dallas Cowboy quarterback Philip Rivers is on

(01:49:00):
the road and gets the win. Here the pressure is
relented for a moment. We'll see whether or not those
two guys can make plays. Will close out the show here.
Appreciate all of you hanging out with us. I'll bring
in the crew, will break down the NFL wild card games,
will give you our gambling picks, and we'll get you
ready for the weekend to come. Remember I'm hopping on

(01:49:21):
a plane early tomorrow morning to fly out to San Francisco.
Will also give you an early read on that game
between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Clemson Tigers. All
that more, this is Outkicked the coverage. Appreciate you hanging
out with us here on a Friday. This is Fox
Sports Radio Montel Jordan bringing us back here on the

(01:49:45):
Geico Alt Kick Studios where it's easy to say fift
cent or more on car insurance with Geico. Go to
Geico dot com or call seven Auto. The only hard
part figuring out which way is easier. Now, you guys
know now the kind of guy who likes to draw
it to to do himself for say wave and say
hey look at me. But last night yesterday, lock it

(01:50:08):
in if you if you're not watching. By the way,
we have a lot of fun on this show, and
I hope I appreciate everybody who starts their morning with
us across the country keep adding affiliate. It's like crazy
um Fox Sports Radio on a roll. Whether it's me,
whether it's Cal Heard gottlieb Um, the crew across the board,
Dan Patrick, everybody that they put together all day long

(01:50:29):
is doing really, really well. And that's because we've got
good bosses in Don Martin and Scott Shapiro. But on
top of that, we're having a lot of fun on
FS one every afternoon at four thirty Eastern, three thirty
Central to thirty Mountain one thirty Pacific with a sports
gambling show, the first of its kind. We're now into
what September, October, November, December, January, five month of this

(01:50:51):
show and it's me cousin sal from the Ringer, Jimmy
Kimmel live uh, Todd Ferman, who you here on this
show every now and then, and Rachel Panetta, who will
one day be a superstar that will be far more
famous than all of us, but and Danny GE's crush
uh And I don't know how that relationship is going.
But on top of all of that, every now and

(01:51:12):
then I have to just step out and take a
bigger risk. And if you don't know how the show works,
we bet a thousand dollars every every week, right, and
last night was my second biggest bet in five months.
I've been paying attention to the Rockets as they have
been on fire lately. James Hard had been playing out
of his mind. I've also been paying attention to the Warriors,

(01:51:32):
and every time you expect for the Warriors to make
a statement win at home, they don't show up. They
don't get the wind. So when I saw this number
come out at eight and a half, tick up to nine,
tick back down to eight, I said, my god, I
am going as big as I possibly can. We have
the audio from yesterday on television of me making my pick,
and the lack of respect for me was very readily apparent.

(01:51:57):
Listen to this, all right. It's blood bank guarantee mixed
with mustache guarantee. Getting rich on Thursday night, kids, all right,
It's always a good sign when you send in your
bet what This is not the big bet bet right.
Here's how you talking about ear and getting me all

(01:52:18):
rattled and gave me all rattled in the group. Here's
the didn't mess it up. They messed it up when
they wrote me back when I sent this bet in.
They said, hey, I think you meant forty dollars instead
of four hundred. I said, it's sALS sitting around and

(01:52:41):
making a money line parlay and me having to throw
like four hell mary's to catch Furman. I want to
catch him tonight. I want Furman sweating on Friday when
he makes all his bets. I'm not gonna let him
ride off into the sunset with a bunch of crazy bets.
The Rockets when they cover the eight and a half
and Ferman is gonna be shimmering in his bed with

(01:53:03):
a fever because he's so afraid of me on his tail.
There you go, the blood bank guarantee mixed with the
mustache guarantee. Not only did the Rockets cover as I
said they would, they won as I said they would.
This is what it sounded like, if you like. Much
of the country were already in bed when James Harden

(01:53:26):
rose up behind the three point line in Golden State
last night. Gerald Green during Brown hardened trying to get free.
It's a free, good good James Harden up fighting for
incredible shot, rockets by one with one second ago. He

(01:53:52):
put that right in Draymond Green's face. I mean there
was no space to get that shot off. Phenomenal make
made bucket by James Harden. That followed one of the
worst officiating errors of the season in the NFL. In
the NFL, there are a lot of officiating errors in
the NFL. Two in the n b A where you
had ja they allowed Kevin Durant to save the basketball

(01:54:13):
despite the fact that both of his feet were out
of bounds and he was like in the third row
of the seats there at Golden State, and and they
threw it back in. Steph Curry made a jumper to
give the Golden State Warriors a two point lead before
James Harden won it with that incredible shot. So big
win for me, hopefully made a lot of you a

(01:54:33):
lot of money. And on top of that, I'm ready.
Do we have the music? Do we have music? Should
I give you the music so I can lead you
into the weekend with four winners for NFL wild Card weekend.
Cue the music boys, guess time vain on it move
for Clay Travis to make us rich, including the legendary, famous,

(01:54:57):
well known, talk of the town, most celebrated. I'd buy
that for Love Bank guarantee. I love the underdogs this
weekend in the wild card games to on Saturday, I'm
giving you money gifts to the people. Santa Clay still
come into town even though it's after Christmas. I love

(01:55:19):
the Colts on the road to win outright. I like
the Colts on the money line. They're the better team.
They've been the better team down the stretch of the season.
Andrew luck is the better quarterback, He's got the better
offensive line, he's got the superior defense. I think outside
of the defensive line, this is an easy win. I
think for the Colts. I think they pull away late.

(01:55:41):
I think they win thirty one. Colts on the money line,
outright winners. I also like the Seahawks on the money
Ryan money line, outright winners against the Cowboys. A lot
of talk about Ezekiel Elliott and the Dallas Cowboy running attack.
You know, the Cowboys are tenth overall in their rushing attack,
while the Seattle Seahawks are first overall in this league.

(01:56:01):
If as if that were not enough, you're telling me
the Seahawks have the better run offense and they've got
the vastly superior quarterback Russell Wilson thirty five touchdowns, seven
I n T s. He's having an m v P
like season. Should have gotten more attention than he has.
Maybe it's because he's in Seattle that he's not. I
like the Seahawks to go on the road and do
what happens to the Cowboys in every single time they

(01:56:24):
make the playoffs, that is embarrassed them. I like the
Seahawks on the road against the Cowboys. In the Chargers
Ravens game, this is my blood band guarantee for the week.
If you really want to bloodband guarantee it, you can
play this game up to three and a half right now,
the Baltimore Ravens two and a half point favorite. Get
the hook there, get up to three and a half.
I feel even better about this. Chargers is gonna win
this game out right. You go look at the box

(01:56:46):
score of what happened in that Chargers Ravens game. The
Ravens got the best game of their season. From uh
Lamar Jackson and Philip Rivers had his worst game of
the season. And even with that happening, if Antonio Gates
doesn't fumble, I think the Chargers win that game seventeen
to sixteen. Instead, they have to go on the road.

(01:57:07):
I think they know that the better team over the Ravens.
Wrong team has favored here. Chargers basically play road playoff
games every week no matter what. They're seven and one
on the road because they don't have a home field advantage,
so they never get used to people cheering for them.
I don't think it's gonna matter traveling across the country.
I think the Chargers went out right. It's my blood
bank guarantee for wild Card Weekend. And then finally, I

(01:57:29):
think Nick Foles and the Eagles cover six points is
too many and what's gonna be a low scoring game
in Chicago. I've got the Eagles to cover against the Bears.
There are your four picks, By the way, you can
go vote as well. You have the opportunity on our
Twitter feed at Clay Travis, I put up the question
which road underdog on wild Card Weekend is most likely

(01:57:51):
to pull off the upset? Remember last year in the
wild card round, underdogs went four and one against the number.
Eleven thousand of you have voted you like the Colts
the most, followed by the Chargers, then the Seahawks, then
the Eagles to pull off the upsets. We've had a
fantastic week. I hope your twenty nineteen has started well.
